LONE STAR CONFERENCE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL WEEKLY RELEASE

LSC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The women's bracket for the Lone Star Conference Basketball Championship March 1-4 at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco,
Texas, is set.
The top eight teams have advanced to the LSC Championship Tournament and the postseason begins with games on
Thursday, March 1.
Angelo State earned a share of its sixth league title and West Texas A&M picked up its 16th crown with identical 16-
4 league records. The Rambelles earned the No. 1 seed via tiebreaker.
Tickets are available through Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster.com, as well as the Dr Pepper Arena box office.
Single-session tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
All games on Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be streamed live free of charge through the LSC's GameCentral
portal (http://portal.stretchinternet.com/lonestar). In addition to supporting desktop and laptop computers,
GameCentral's responsive design will support mobile devices as well (iPad, iPhones, Android).
Sunday’s championship finals will be streamed on ESPN3 and available through the ESPN App as part of the Division
II Basketball Showcase. The women’s title game tips off at 1 p.m., with the men’s championship to follow at 3:30 p.m.
LSC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The LSC women are 150-151 overall. The women’s squads are currently 19-17 combined against the Heartland, and 10-
12 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.

OFFENSIVE
Madison Parker, West Texas A&M University, SR, Forward, Canyon, Texas, Canyon
Parker had a big weekend for the No. 25 Lady Buffs as the senior forward led WT to their 16th Lone Star Conference
Championship with road wins at Texas A&M-Commerce and Tarleton State. The Canyon product went 13-of-22 from the
floor (.591) to average 14.5 points per game to go along with 10 total rebounds (six offensive, four defensive), two
assists, a block and a steal in the pair of road wins.
DEFENSIVE
Tiana Parker, West Texas A&M University, JR, Center, Chehalis, Washington, William F. West
Parker had a big weekend for the No. 25 Lady Buffs as the junior led WT to a share of their 16th Lone Star Conference
title with road wins at Texas A&M-Commerce and Tarleton State. She helped hold the Lions and TexAnns below their
season averages with a combined field goal percentage of .286 and 51.5 points per game. The Tennessee State transfer
grabbed 16 total rebounds (seven offensive, nine defensive) to go along with three assists, five blocks and a steal.
Parker scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds on Thursday night in Commerce followed by another stellar
performance at Widsom Gym on Saturday afternoon as the junior finished just one rebound shy of a double-double with
10 points and nine boards in a blowout win over the TexAnns.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Jamie Bonnarens, Cameron University, continued to lead the Aggie offense this week, averaging 18.5 points during
the two wins over Midwestern State and Texas Woman's. The sophomore scored 15 points and went 7-8 from the free
throw line against Midwestern State and then followed that up with a 22 point outing against TWU, in which she was 4-8
from the perimeter. Bonnarens' performance against the Pioneers was the 12th time this season she has eclipsed the 20
point plateau in a game. She is currently leading the LSC with 17.6 points per game while ranking 56th in the nation.
Alexis Nezianya, Texas Woman's University, made the most of her TWU home finale as she posted her ninth double-
double of the season with 17 points and 13 rebounds against Cameron before leading the Pioneers to a win over
Midwestern State by scoring 20 points and ripping down seven boards. The senior shot 50-percent from the field in the
two contests while also averaging three blocks and three steals.
Ciara Fields, Western New Mexico, went for double-figures in both games, as she posted a high of 22 points and
seven rebounds against the Javelinas. She went 7-17 from the field, 2-6 from three and 6-7 from the foul line. She also
added a steal. In the final game of the season against the Belles she tallied 13 points and eight rebounds.
Daeshi McCants, Eastern New Mexico University, poured in 11 points and had two steals at Angelo State. For the
game she shot 50 percent from the floor. She followed with her seventh double double of the season, with 23 points
and 10 rebounds at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Sierra LaGrande, UT Permian Basin, outside shooting helped carry UTPB to an upset against Texas A&M - Commerce
while setting the UTPB single-season record with 81 made three-pointers. With the team down eight and under two
minutes to play she hit back to back threes to give the team the chance to win. She finishes her career with 179 made
threes, third most in UTPB history
Katie Webster, Tarleton State University, averaged 16 points and five rebounds per game in the final week of the
regular season for Tarleton. The junior shot .556 from the floor and .750 from the free throw line. She had a 17-point
effort in Thursday's win over UT Permian Basin.
Dezirae Hampton, Angelo State University, averaged 15.0 points per game to help Angelo State clinch a share of the
LSC Championship with wins over ENMU and WNMU. The junior hit the go-ahead 3-pointer versus ENMU. She recorded
a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds in the win over WNMU. It is the Arlington natives fourth double-double
of the season.
Artaejah Gay, Texas A&M University-Commerce, became the third highest scorer in A&M-Commerce history last
week, pushing her career total to more than 1,250 points. She had seven points in the Lions loss to West Texas A&M.
She then had 18 points against UT Permian Basin to go along with 10 rebounds. Gay is sixth in the LSC in scoring average
and third in field goal percentage.
Angelica Wilson, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, in her last two games as a Javelina, led her team to wins over
Western New Mexico and Eastern New Mexico. She totaled a double-double in each contest, including a 15-point, 17-
rebound performance in TAMUK's season finale, a 69-62 overtime win against the Greyhounds. In these two games,
Wilson helped limit the opposition to a field goal percentage of 30% and an average of 52 points per game. She also
racked up a combined total of 20 defensive rebounds.
Lejha Smith, Cameron University, was dominant in the Aggies final two games of the regular season, averaging a
double-double with 10.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. The junior started the week off by grabbing 13 rebounds
and scoring seven points against Midwestern State. Smith also had four blocks and three steals against the Mustangs.
On Thursday against Texas Woman's, Smith recorded her ninth double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. For the
two game span, 18 of her 24 rebounds were on the defensive side of the ball, while she also helped hold the opposition
to shooting just 37 percent from the field.

Dezirae Hampton, Angelo State University, led the defensive efforts for ASU to help clinch a share of the Lone Star
Conference Championship by limiting teams to 26.9 percent from the field and only 43.5 points per game. The junior
recorded her fourth double-double of the with 19 points and 12 rebounds. She averaged 9.5 rebounds per game with 15
of her 19 total rebounds coming on the defensive end. She also made three steals.
Mackenzie Hailey, Tarleton State University, averaged 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. She boasted a
double-double performance with 15 points and 11 rebounds in Thursday's win over UT Permian Basin.
Shelby Jones, Eastern New Mexico University, led a strong defensive effort from the Greyhounds at Angelo State and
Texas A&M-Kingsville. She had three steals and a blocked shot as ENMU nearly picked up a road win against the
Rambelles. Jones also had a steal and blocked shot against the Javelinas.
Brianna Wise, Texas A&M University-Commerce, led the Lions in both blocks and steals last week on the defensive
end. She had two blocks and two steals against West Texas A&M to go along with 10 points. She then had a steal to go
along with 17 points and six assists against UT Permian Basin. Wise leads the LSC in free throw attempts and makes.

Cameron
The Aggie women went 2-0 in conference play for the first time this season, beating both Midwestern State and Texas
Woman's. Jamie Bonnarens led CU with 18.5 points, while Lejha Smith averaged a double-double with 10 points and 12
rebounds per contest.
Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico women's basketball team played in a pair of hard-fought games on their final road trip of the
regular season. On Thursday, they dropped a three-point game of regionally-ranked teams against Angelo State. On
Saturday, the Hounds stretched Texas A&M-Kingsville to overtime. The Hounds will open play in the LSC Tournament as
the #4 seed and take on Tarleton State.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State went 0-2 last week, falling to Cameron on Tuesday and Texas Woman's on Saturday. The Mustangs
wrap up the regular season with a 13-13 overall record and a 10-10 mark in LSC play. MSU opens the conference tourney
against No. 2 seed West Texas A&M on Thursday, March 1, at 2:30 p.m.
Tarleton State
Tarleton split the final week of the regular season and will enter the LSC Tournament as the No. 5 seed.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions went 0-2 last week. They finished the regular season as the third seed and will play Cameron in the first round
of the LSC tournament.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
2-0 last week.
Texas Woman’s
TWU lost in overtime to Cameron, 71-65, Thursday before a 71-66 Senior Day win over Midwestern State.
UT Permian Basin
UT Permian Basin split its final two road games this past week. The team fell at Tarleton State 65-49 Thursday night.
UTPB grabbed 18 offensive rebounds but only shot two free throws on the night. UTPB also forced 23 turnovers. On
Saturday night the team pulled off an upset over Texas A&M-Commerce, 64-61, in their final game of the season. It was
a back and forth game when Commerce took an eight-point lead with 1:55 remaining. Sierra LaGrande hit back-to-back
threes and Jackie Perez followed that up with a three of her own to take the lead. UTPB won the turnover battle 24-10.
LaGrande led UTPB this week averaging 16.5 points and going 10-26 from three. She also set the new school single-
season record with 81 made three-pointers. Khali Pippins-Tryon added 9.5 points per game along with seven rebounds
per game.
West Texas A&M
The No. 25 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M claimed a share of their 16th Lone Star Conference Regular Season
Championship this past weekend with big road wins at Texas A&M-Commerce and Tarleton State to move to 24-4
overall. The Lady Buffs now head into the Lone Star Conference Championship as the second seed as they will take on
the seventh seeded Mustangs of Midwestern State in a Highway 287 Challenge showdown on Thursday afternoon at Dr
Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas with tipoff set for 2:30 p.m.
Western New Mexico
It was a tough end to the season for the Lady Mustangs as Texas A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State were able to post a
pair of victories. Ciara Fields did all she could to lead WNMU with 35 points and also led the way in rebounds with 15.
She also posted a steal, made 11 field goals and went 10-11 from the free throw line. Fields went for double-figures in
both games, as she posted a high of 22 points and seven rebounds against the Javelinas. She went 7-17 from the field, 2-
6 from three and 6-7 from the foul line. She also added a steal. In the final game of the season against the Belles she
tallied 13 points and eight rebounds.

The top eight teams have advanced to the LSC Championship Tournament and the postseason begins with games on Thursday, March 1. Angelo State earned a share of its sixth league title and West Texas A&M picked up its 16th crown with identical 16- 4 league records. The Rambelles earned the No. 1 seed via tiebreaker. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster.com, as well as the Dr Pepper Arena box office. Single-session tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. All games on Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be streamed live free of charge through the LSC's GameCentral portal (http://portal.stretchinternet.com/lonestar). In addition to supporting desktop and laptop computers, GameCentral's responsive design will support mobile devices as well (iPad, iPhones, Android). Sunday’s championship finals will be streamed on ESPN3 and available through the ESPN App as part of the Division II Basketball Showcase. The women’s title game tips off at 1 p.m., with the men’s championship to follow at 3:30 p.m. LSC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL The LSC women are 150-151 overall. The women’s squads are currently 19-17 combined against the Heartland, and 10- 12 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region. The Canyon product went 13-of-22 from the floor (.591) to average 14.5 points per game to go along with 10 total rebounds (six offensive, four defensive), two assists, a block and a steal in the pair of road wins. DEFENSIVE Tiana Parker, West Texas A&M University, JR, Center, Chehalis, Washington, William F. West Parker had a big weekend for the No. 25 Lady Buffs as the junior led WT to a share of their 16th Lone Star Conference title with road wins at Texas A&M-Commerce and Tarleton State. She is currently leading the LSC with 17.6 points per game while ranking 56th in the nation.

Alexis Nezianya, Texas Woman's University, made the most of her TWU home finale as she posted her ninth double- double of the season with 17 points and 13 rebounds against Cameron before leading the Pioneers to a win over Midwestern State by scoring 20 points and ripping down seven boards. The senior shot 50-percent from the field in the two contests while also averaging three blocks and three steals. Ciara Fields, Western New Mexico, went for double-figures in both games, as she posted a high of 22 points and seven rebounds against the Javelinas. She went 7-17 from the field, 2-6 from three and 6-7 from the foul line. She also added a steal. In the final game of the season against the Belles she tallied 13 points and eight rebounds. Daeshi McCants, Eastern New Mexico University, poured in 11 points and had two steals at Angelo State. For the game she shot 50 percent from the floor. She followed with her seventh double double of the season, with 23 points and 10 rebounds at Texas A&M-Kingsville. Sierra LaGrande, UT Permian Basin, outside shooting helped carry UTPB to an upset against Texas A&M - Commerce while setting the UTPB single-season record with 81 made three-pointers. With the team down eight and under two minutes to play she hit back to back threes to give the team the chance to win. She finishes her career with 179 made threes, third most in UTPB history Katie Webster, Tarleton State University, averaged 16 points and five rebounds per game in the final week of the regular season for Tarleton. The junior shot .556 from the floor and .750 from the free throw line. She had a 17-point effort in Thursday's win over UT Permian Basin. Dezirae Hampton, Angelo State University, averaged 15.0 points per game to help Angelo State clinch a share of the LSC Championship with wins over ENMU and WNMU. The junior hit the go-ahead 3-pointer versus ENMU. She recorded a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds in the win over WNMU. It is the Arlington natives fourth double-double of the season. Artaejah Gay, Texas A&M University-Commerce, became the third highest scorer in A&M-Commerce history last week, pushing her career total to more than 1,250 points. She had seven points in the Lions loss to West Texas A&M. She then had 18 points against UT Permian Basin to go along with 10 rebounds. Gay is sixth in the LSC in scoring average and third in field goal percentage. Angelica Wilson, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, in her last two games as a Javelina, led her team to wins over Western New Mexico and Eastern New Mexico. She totaled a double-double in each contest, including a 15-point, 17- rebound performance in TAMUK's season finale, a 69-62 overtime win against the Greyhounds. In these two games, Wilson helped limit the opposition to a field goal percentage of 30% and an average of 52 points per game. She also racked up a combined total of 20 defensive rebounds. Lejha Smith, Cameron University, was dominant in the Aggies final two games of the regular season, averaging a double-double with 10.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. The junior started the week off by grabbing 13 rebounds and scoring seven points against Midwestern State. Smith also had four blocks and three steals against the Mustangs. On Thursday against Texas Woman's, Smith recorded her ninth double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. For the two game span, 18 of her 24 rebounds were on the defensive side of the ball, while she also helped hold the opposition to shooting just 37 percent from the field. She boasted a double-double performance with 15 points and 11 rebounds in Thursday's win over UT Permian Basin. Shelby Jones, Eastern New Mexico University, led a strong defensive effort from the Greyhounds at Angelo State and Texas A&M-Kingsville. She had three steals and a blocked shot as ENMU nearly picked up a road win against the Rambelles. Jones also had a steal and blocked shot against the Javelinas. Brianna Wise, Texas A&M University-Commerce, led the Lions in both blocks and steals last week on the defensive end. She had two blocks and two steals against West Texas A&M to go along with 10 points. She then had a steal to go along with 17 points and six assists against UT Permian Basin. Cameron The Aggie women went 2-0 in conference play for the first time this season, beating both Midwestern State and Texas Woman's. Jamie Bonnarens led CU with 18.5 points, while Lejha Smith averaged a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds per contest. Eastern New Mexico The Eastern New Mexico women's basketball team played in a pair of hard-fought games on their final road trip of the regular season. On Thursday, they dropped a three-point game of regionally-ranked teams against Angelo State. On Saturday, the Hounds stretched Texas A&M-Kingsville to overtime. The Hounds will open play in the LSC Tournament as the #4 seed and take on Tarleton State. Midwestern State Midwestern State went 0-2 last week, falling to Cameron on Tuesday and Texas Woman's on Saturday. The Mustangs wrap up the regular season with a 13-13 overall record and a 10-10 mark in LSC play. MSU opens the conference tourney against No. 2 seed West Texas A&M on Thursday, March 1, at 2:30 p.m. Tarleton State Tarleton split the final week of the regular season and will enter the LSC Tournament as the No. 5 seed. Texas A&M-Commerce The Lions went 0-2 last week. They finished the regular season as the third seed and will play Cameron in the first round of the LSC tournament. Texas A&M-Kingsville 2-0 last week. Texas Woman’s TWU lost in overtime to Cameron, 71-65, Thursday before a 71-66 Senior Day win over Midwestern State. UT Permian Basin UT Permian Basin split its final two road games this past week.   • 5. Saturday night the team pulled off an upset over Texas A&M-Commerce, 64-61, in their final game of the season. It was a back and forth game when Commerce took an eight-point lead with 1:55 remaining. Sierra LaGrande hit back-to-back threes and Jackie Perez followed that up with a three of her own to take the lead. UTPB won the turnover battle 24-10. LaGrande led UTPB this week averaging 16.5 points and going 10-26 from three. She also set the new school single- season record with 81 made three-pointers. Khali Pippins-Tryon added 9.5 points per game along with seven rebounds per game. West Texas A&M The No. 25 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M claimed a share of their 16th Lone Star Conference Regular Season Championship this past weekend with big road wins at Texas A&M-Commerce and Tarleton State to move to 24-4 overall. The Lady Buffs now head into the Lone Star Conference Championship as the second seed as they will take on the seventh seeded Mustangs of Midwestern State in a Highway 287 Challenge showdown on Thursday afternoon at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas with tipoff set for 2:30 p.m. Western New Mexico It was a tough end to the season for the Lady Mustangs as Texas A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State were able to post a pair of victories.
