LSC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
West Texas A&M remains undefeated this season at 3-0 with four other teams with one loss.
The Lone Star Conference women are 18-19 overall. The women’s squads are currently 8-8 combined against the
Heartland, and 8-9 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Brianna Wise, Texas A&M University-Commerce, SR, Forward, Desoto, Texas, Desoto HS
Wise scored a career-high 25 points against St. Edward's on Saturday in the Lions' 71-64 win over the Hilltoppers. She
was a perfect 5-for-5 from behind the arc, also setting a career high in makes from deep. She also drove inside multiple
times was fouled and sent to the free throw line, scoring eight from the line. Her 25 points were the second most points
scored in a game this season in the LSC. She has two of the three highest scoring individual performances so far in the
LSC this season.
DEFENSIVE
Artaejah Gay, Texas A&M University-Commerce, SR, Forward, Cedar Hill, Texas, Cedar Hill HS
Gay had a career-high four blocks in the Lions' 71-64 win over defending Heartland champion St. Edward's on Saturday.
With the blocks, she moved into fifth place all-time in blocks in program history. She also pulled in five rebounds and
scored 19 points, the second most on the team. Gay was all over the place defensively, adding a steal. She helped to
close out the game against SEU, making free throws in the final seconds of the game to put it out of reach. Gay is tied for
the second most blocks in the LSC so far this year and is 11th in scoring average.

2. OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Andrea Martinez, Cameron University, in CU's lone game last week, sparked the Aggies with 24 points off the bench
in the win over Oklahoma Christian. Martinez started off the game with 10 points in the first half, and then scored 14 on
5-7 shooting from the field in the second. The first year guard ended the game going 9-14 from the field and 5-10 from
behind the three-point line. Martinez scored eight straight points late in the third quarter to help the Aggies build a six-
point lead going into the final quarter. She is currently seventh in the LSC in scoring and first in three point percentage.
Alexis Nezianya, Texas Woman's University, earned All-Tournament Team honors at the Best Western Premier
Pioneer Classic hosted by TWU with averages of 16.0 points and 11.5 rebounds. In the win over Regis, the senior forward
was nearly perfect from the field going 8-for-9 on her way to a team-high 17 points. Against UCO, Nezianya battled with
a much taller front line and posted 11 rebounds, including seven offensive, along with a team-high 15 points and used
her muscle underneath against her 6-5 defender to earn seven trips to the free throw line. In the two contests, she also
added four blocks and a pair of assists.
Ciara Fields, Western New Mexico, paced the team with 30 points, averaging 15 points per game. She connected on
nearly 40 percent from the field (9-23), 46 percent from three-point range (5-11) and added an 88 percent effort at the
foul line (7-8). Fields pulled down seven rebounds, dished out four assists and tallied a steal. Fields tallied double-figures
in both games, going for a high of 18 against St. Mary's.
Mackenzie Hailey, Tarleton State University, led the way for Tarleton with 15.0 points per game last weekend as
Tarleton split a pair of games at the Texas Woman's Best Western Invitational. The sophomore forward also dished out
four assists in two games for the team lead. She was named to the All-Tournament team.
Kaylee Edgemon, Eastern New Mexico University, shot .714 from the floor and scored a season-high 11 points last
week. Her performance lifted the Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team to a win at New Mexico
Highlands. Seven of the freshman forward's points came in the second half.
Lexy Hightower, West Texas A&M University, continued to lead the Lady Buffs offensively last week as the Amarillo
High product scored 16 points in a 60-49 win over the University of Science & Arts during WT's 2017-18 home opener.
The sophomore went 5-of-12 from the floor including 5-of-11 from behind the arc and 1-of-2 from the charity stripe to
go along with two rebounds, three assists and two steals

Amaka Nwakamma, Cameron University, was a key part of CU's win over Oklahoma Christian last week, scoring 16
points, dishing out seven assists, grabbing six rebounds, and recording three steals. She helped the Aggies hold a good
OC team to shooting just 38.5 percent from the field and just 2-20 from three. Nwakamma made some key free throws
and got three big steals and was a consistent force on the glass for CU. She is leading the LSC in steals with 4.7 per
contest.
Dasia Johnson, Eastern New Mexico University, was a key part of a winning defensive effort last week against New
Mexico Highlands. Her performance helped limit the Cowgirls to a .222 shooting percentage from the field and just three
three-point baskets. In the second and third quarters, NMHU shot below 20 percent. Johnson blocked a shot and had
three steals to fuel Eastern's 18-9 edge in points off turnovers. She also grabbed four defensive rebounds. The 34 points
ENMU allowed was the fewest by a NCAA Division II opponent since a 68-36 win over Adams State on November 26,
2006.
3. Melody McLaughlin, Western New Mexico, tallied a team-best six steals, along with grabbing six rebounds and
tallying 14 points. She collected five steals and four rebounds against St. Mary's and also added nine points. McLaughlin
averaged three steals and three rebounds per game.
McKinley Bostad, Tarleton State University, led the TexAnns with five steals and grabbed six rebounds in addition to
her scoring efforts in a split of two games at the Texas Woman's Best Western Invitational last weekend. The junior
averaged 11.5 points per game and scored a season-high 18 in Tarleton's win against Regis on Sunday.
Madison Parker, West Texas A&M University, led the then No. 9 Lady Buffs defensively this past week as the senior
forward registered seven points and a team-leading 11 rebounds in a win over University of Science & Arts during WT's
2017-18 home opener. The Canyon product went 3-of-8 from the floor including 1-of-1 from the free throw line to score
seven points while leading the way on the glass with 11 rebounds.

Cameron
Cameron captured their second victory over Oklahoma Christian in a week as the Aggies defeated the Eagles 81-72 in
last Thursday's home opener. In just her third collegiate game, freshman Andrea Martinez led all scorers with 24 points
and made five three-pointers. Jamie Bonnarens helped close the game with a 20-point effort. Amaka Nwakamma
finished with 16 points, seven assists and three steals while Lejha Smith led CU at the boards with 11 rebounds. In their
previous matchup, Heartland Preseason All-Conference selection Addy Clift totaled 21 points against the Aggies, but on
Thursday night CU limited her to a team high 17 points.
Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico women's basketball team registered a dominant performance last week against cross-state
rival New Mexico Highlands. The Hounds limited NMHU to .222 from the field and 34 points. Eastern's 34 points allowed
against a NCAA Division II opponent were the fewest since a 68-36 win over Adams State on November 26, 2006. Kaylee
Edgemon paced the Hounds with 11 points, while Shelby Jones added 10 points, a blocked shot and steal. This week,
Eastern will play in West Texas A&M's Pak-a-Sak Tournament.
Midwestern State
1-0 last week.
Tarleton State
Tarleton split two games at the Texas Woman's Invitational. Tarleton will play Lubbock Christian Tuesday before taking a
nine-day hiatus from games before starting LSC action at Midwestern State on Nov. 27.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions got back on track by defeating St. Edward's 71-64 on Saturday. The Lions shot 42 percent from the field against
the defending Heartland champions. The Lions are now 2-2 on the year. They face LeTourneau at home on Wednesday
and host Southeastern Oklahoma State on Sunday.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
1-0 last week.
4. Texas Woman’s
TWU hosted the Best Western Premier Pioneer Classic and defeated Regis, 71-66, before falling to Central Oklahoma,
57-49.
UT Permian Basin

West Texas A&M
The then No. 9 Lady Buff of West Texas A&M opened up their 2017-18 home schedule on a high-note last Thursday as
they topped the visiting Drovers of University of Science & Arts, 60-49 at the First United Bank Center. Sophomore Lexy
Hightower led the way with 16 points while senior Madison Parker grabbed 11 rebounds in the victory. The Lady Buffs
host the Pak-A-Sak WT Thanksgiving Classic this weekend at the FUBC with contests scheduled against Texas A&M-
International and #5 CSU-Pueblo in Canyon.
Western New Mexico
WNMU faced a tough matchup against one of the top teams in the South Central Region in Lubbock Christian, but came
back strong to just fall short to St. Mary's the following day. Ciara Fields and Cassandra Vickery paced the offense as
