2. Army Chief presents President’s Colours to
four battalions of Parachute Regiment
The Chief of Army Staff, General MM Naravane, presented the
prestigious ‘President’s Colours’ to four battalions of the Parachute
Regiment on February 23, 2022.
The President's Colours were presented to 11 Parachute (Special
Forces), 21 Parachute (Special Forces), 23 Parachute and 29
Parachute.
The presentation took place during the Colour Presentation Parade
held at the Parachute Regiment Training Centre, Bangalore.
The Army Chief appreciated the rich legacy of valour, sacrifice and
traditions of the Parachute Regiment after reviewing the parade.
He also complimented the newly raised units for the remarkable
performance within a short period of time and gave his best wishes
to all ranks to serve the nation with pride.

3. Cobra Warrior 2022: IAF to participate in
multi-nation Air Exercise
The Indian Air Force will participate in the multi-nation Air
Exercise named 'Ex Cobra Warrior 22' at Royal Air Force Base
in Waddington, United Kingdom.
The Cobra Warrior exercise will be held from 6-27 March,
2022. Five indigenous LCA Tejas fighter aircraft will participate
in the exercise and a C-17 aircraft will provide transport
support.
The IAF jets will participate in the exercise along with the
fighter aircraft of UK and other leading Air Forces.

phase 4 polls underway in 59 constituencies
UP Elections 2022 phase 4 polls are currently underway in 59
assembly constituencies across nine districts including Sitapur,
Hardoi, Unnao, Lakhimpur Kheri, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Fatehpur,
Banda and Philibhit.
A voter turnout of 37.45 percent was recorded till 1 pm across
59 assembly seats.Uttar Pradesh is witnessing a multi-party
contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Samajwadi
Party (SP)-Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) alliance, Congress and the
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

5. Sanjeev Sanyal appointed as a full-time
member of Economic Advisory Council to
PM
Sanjeev Sanyal, a noted economist, and historian has been
inducted as a full-time member of the Economic Advisory
Council to the Prime Minister. The news was announced by
the panel’s Chairman Bibek Debroy on February 22, 2022.
Sanjeev Sanyal will serve at the position for a tenure of two
years. Bibek Debroy via a tweet welcomed Sanjeev Sanyal as a
full-time member of EAC-PM which is an independent body
constituted by the Government of India.
It advises the Prime Minister of the country on economic and
various other related issues.

6. Veteran Malayalam actor KPAC Lalitha passes

Pinarayi Vijayan pay tribute
KPAC Lalitha passed away on February 22, 2022 in Kochi after
battling a liver-related ailment for a long time.
The veteran actor breathed her last just three days before her 74th
birthday.
The veteran artist acted in more than 500 movies in a career
spanning five decades.She performed a variety of roles, from
playing the female protagonist to comedy roles to supporting
cast.
She also worked in many movies in Tamil as a character artist.
Mammootty, Revathy, Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh, Prithviraj
Sukumaran and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan along with

7. Ukraine Crisis: US President announces new
sanctions against Russia for ‘beginning
invasion of Ukraine’
The President of the United States Joe Biden on February 22, 2022,
announced new sanctions against Russia and also called Russia’s
move in eastern Ukraine the ‘beginning of a Russian invasion’.
The move by the United States came after the President of Russia
Vladimir Putin recognized the independence of breakaway regions
Luhansk and Donetsk and ordered the Russian troops there.
While speaking on the Russian-Ukraine crisis from the White House,
US President also called Putin’s moves the ‘beginning of Russian
invasion’ of Ukraine.
Russia had started massing troops near Ukraine’s border in 2021 and
had called them training exercises.

9. India's Economic Outlook FY 2022-23
The Indian economy is expected to revert to growth in FY22 after a dip of
7.3 percent in FY21, as per the latest CA Annual Equity Assessment 2022 by
Client Associates, an independent wealth management firm in India.
The firm's annual report stated that the macro profile of the country
remains largely conducive to growth.
It said that strong government spending along with improving exports and
effective policy measures by RBI and the government are likely to support
strong economic activities in FY2023.
The assessment highlighted that high-frequency indicators such as PMIs
are consistently in the expansion zone and the robust GST collections are
positive drivers for the economy.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had also announced during
her Budget 2022 speech that India had recorded Gross GST collections at
Rs 1,40,986 crore for January 2022, which is the highest since the inception
of GST.
