 Shaheed Diwas is observed every year in India on March 23 in
the remembrance of valiant soldiers who sacrificed themselves
for the country.
 Shaheed Diwas 2022 is celebrated to mark the death
anniversaries of the courageous freedom fighters- Sukhdev
Thapar, Bhagat Singh, and Shivaram Rajguru.
 Shaheed Diwas 2022 provides an opportunity to the people of
India to honour and remember their sacrifice for India’s freedom
struggle.
 On Shaheed Diwas 2022, as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,
Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan will organize Shaheed Diwas in all
the 623 districts by involving a large number of youth volunteers.
 To encourage more people to be a part of Martyr’s Day 2022,
Prime Minister Modi is also set to inaugurate Biplobi Bharat

3. Petrol Diesel Prices: Why Petrol and Diesel
Prices Increased after 4 Months? What Next?
 The price of petrol and diesel was hiked by 80 paise per litre and
domestic cooking gas LPG price was hiked by Rs 50 per cylinder on
March 22, 2022, after a gap of almost four months.
 The prices of diesel, petrol and cooking gas had been unchanged
since October 2021.
 The price of petrol in Delhi has now increased to Rs 96.21 in Delhi
and the price of diesel has increased to Rs 87.47 per litre.
 An LPG cylinder will now cost Rs 949.50 per 14.2kh bottle in the
national capital.
 In Mumbai, the petrol price has increased to Rs 110.82 per litre, diesel
price to Rs 95 per litre.
 In Chennai, petrol and diesel prices have increased to Rs 102.16 and
Rs 92.19 per litre respectively.

4. Goa CM 2022: CM-designate Pramod
Sawant to take oath as Goa CM on March
28, PM Modi likely to attend
 Goa CM-designate Pramod Sawant will take oath as the Chief
Minister of Goa for the second consecutive term on March 28,
2022.
 Prime Minister Modi is also likely to attend the Goa CM Oath
ceremony. Reportedly, Sawant stated that he has invited the
Prime Minister, National President of Bharatiya Janata Party JP
Nadda, and the Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his
swearing-in ceremony.
 Goa CM-designate Pramod Sawant along with the BJP leaders
met the Governor of Goa Sreedharan Pillai on March 21, 2022,
and stake a claim to form the government in the state.
 In Goa Assembly Polls 2022, Bharatiya Janata Party had
emerged as the single-largest party in the state.

5. Uttarakhand CM Oath Ceremony 2022:
Pushkar Singh Dhami to take oath as
Uttarakhand CM on March 23rd
 Pushkar Singh Dhami will take oath as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand at
3.30 pm at Parade Ground in Dehradun on March 23, 2022.
 Dhami was elected as the leader of the BJP Legislative Party in
Uttarakhand on March 21st, ending days of speculation. His cabinet will
also be sworn in on the same day.
 He was first elected as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand replacing
Trivendra Singh Rawat on July 4, 2021 and served for less than a year as
assembly elections were due.
 He had led the party's poll campaign in the state as the Chief Minister
during the Uttarakhand Assembly Elections 2022 but ended up losing his
own seat from Khatima constituency to Congress candidate Bhuwan
Chandra Kapri by a margin of 6,579 votes, raising speculations regarding
whether he will be given the top job again. Dhami had won twice from
the seat earlier.

7. The Kashmir Files Film: Section 144 imposed
in Kota, Rajasthan till April 21 in view of
Screening
 Kota administration has enforced Section 144 from March 22
till April 21 to maintain law and order in the city in the view of
screening of the film 'The Kashmir Files'.
 The Kota district collector said in a notification, "Section 144
will be imposed in Kota from tomorrow, March 22, till April 21,
in view of maintaining law & order with the screening of 'The
Kashmir Files'." This means that no crowd gathering will be
allowed to watch the movie.
 The opposition has, however, said that 'Kashmir Files' is just
an excuse, Section 144 has actually been imposed in Kota to
stop the huge Chandi March, which is scheduled to be held
today in the Kota North assembly constituency.

8. WTI Awards 2021: Names of 75 winners to be
announced
 NITI Aayog’s Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) organised the fifth
edition of the Women Transforming India Awards (WTI) on March 21, 2022.
 The WTI Awards 2021 were conferred upon 75 women achievers to celebrate
their contribution towards a ‘Sashakt Aur Samarth Bharat’.
 The awards took place this year as a part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to
celebrate 75 years of India’s independence.
 The WTI Awards 2021 were conferred by an exceptional group of women

9. Boeing 737-800 crash: Plane carrying 132
crashes in China, no survivors found
 A China Eastern flight MU573 carrying 132 passengers has
crashed into a mountain in China's Guangxi region. The plane had
taken off from Kunming and was headed towards Guangzhou.
The plane crash has caused a massive fire on the mountain.
 The aircraft was a Boeing 737-800 aircraft and it belonged to the
China Eastern Airlines. The Chinese state broadcaster says no
survivors have been found in wreckage of the China Eastern plane
that crashed with 132 aboard.
 The Boeing reportedly crashed in the rural countryside near
Wuzhou city in the Guangxi region. The rescue teams have been
dispatched to the crash site.
 PM Narendra Modi extended his condolences on the plane crash
in China through a tweet, "Deeply shocked and saddened to learn
about the crash of the passenger flight MU5735 with 132 onboard
in China’s Guangxi."
