scraps 7-day mandatory home quarantine, removes at-
risk marking
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued
revised guidelines for international travellers on
February 10, 2022.
The government has removed the 7-day mandatory
home quarantine guidelines for international
passengers.
The revised guidelines for the international passengers
recommend 14 days of self-monitoring post-arrival, as
against the earlier seven days mandatory home
isolation even after testing negative at the airport.
The updated guidelines for the international arrivals will
come into effect from February 14, 2022.

3. Most Congested Cities in the World 2021:
Mumbai ranked 5th, Bengaluru 10th, Delhi
11th, Pune 21st
Mumbai has been ranked as the fifth most congested
city in the world 2021, as per TomTom's 2021 Traffic
Index released on February 9, 2022.
Bengaluru has been ranked as the 10th most
congested city in the world, while Delhi is ranked 11th
and Pune 21st among 404 cities across 58 countries in
the world.
Mumbai and Bengaluru have been ranked among the
top 10 congested cities in the world despite pandemic
restrictions and lockdowns keeping the traffic down for
the most part.

4. India bans import of foreign drones
The Indian government has banned the import of foreign drones to promote Made
in India drones with immediate effect on February 9, 2022.
The import of drones for research and development, defence and security
purposes will though be allowed.
The import of drone components, however, has not been banned and will not
require any approvals, informed the civil aviation ministry on February 9, 2022.
The Civil Aviation Ministry tweeted informing that the move aims to promote
made-in-India drones.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the commerce and industry
ministry issued a notification banning the import of foreign drones.
The notification read "Import policy for drones in CBU (Completely Built-Up)/CKD
(Completely Knocked Down)/SKD (Semi Knocked Down ) form... is prohibited with
exceptions provided for R and D, defence and security purposes."

5. UP Elections 2022: Phase I voting begins, 58
seats go to polls
The voting for the first phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly
Elections 2022 began on February 10, 2022. Under Phase 1,
58 seats are going to the polls and 623 candidates are in the
fray.
The UP Assembly phase I polling is taking place with strict
COVID measures in place including social distancing, the
mandatory wearing of masks and thermal scanning at the
entry gates.
• The first phase of UP polls 2022 covers 58 assembly
constituencies across 11 districts of the state.
Around 623 candidates are in the fray.
• The 11 districts include Agra, Aligarh, Gautam Buddha
Nagar, Mathura, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Shamli, Hapur,
Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat and Bulandshahar.

6. RBI Bi-monthly Monetary Policy Review: RBI
projects real GDP Growth at 7.8% for FY23,
Repo rate unchanged at 4%,
The Reserve Bank of India has projected real GDP growth at 7.8
percent for the fiscal year 2022-23, informed RBI Governor
Shaktikanta Das while announcing RBI's bi-monthly monetary
policy decisions on February 10, 2022.
RBI's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) had begun its three-day
deliberations on February 8th instead of 7th due to the
Maharashtra government's decision to declare February 7 as a
public holiday to mourn the passing of the singing legend Lata
Mangeshkar.
The RBI has decided to continue its accommodative stance and has
kept the repo rate unchanged at 4 percent and the reverse repo
rate unchanged at 3.35 percent.
The CPI inflation projection has been retained at 5.3% for FY 2021-
22 and 4.5% for FY 2022-23.
