2. India to resume international flights from
March 27
 India has decided to resume scheduled commercial international passenger
services to and from India from March 27, 2022, lifting the suspension after
almost two years.
 The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation stated that the International operations
shall be subjected to strict adherence to Ministry of Health guidelines for
international travel.
 This move will allow airlines from around the world to operate flights to India
as per original schedule. India was only operating international flights under its
Air Bubble arrangement after the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
 India released an official statement saying that the scheduled commercial
international passenger services to and from India will be resumed after
having recognized the increased vaccination coverage across the globe.
 India was earlier planning to resume the scheduled international commercial
flights from December 15, 2021 but it was pushed back further after the spread
of Omicron variant of COVID-19.

 The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, presented Nari Shakti Puraskar 2020 and 2021
at a function held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 8, 2022, on the occasion of
International Women’s Day.
 The President honoured 29 outstanding women achievers for their exceptional work
towards women empowerment, especially the marginalized and vulnerable women.
Overall, 28 awards were conferred, 14 awards each for the year 2020 and 2021.
 The Nari Shakti Puraskar is the highest civilian honour specifically for women in India.
 It is an annual award that is conferred by the Ministry of Women and Child
Development of the Government of India to individual women and institutions in
recognition of their relentless service towards the cause of women empowerment and
social welfare.
 The Nari Shakti Puraskar are presented by the President of India on International
Women's Day on March 8th at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
 The Nari Shakti Puraskar were instituted in 1999 under the name of Stree Shakti
Puraskar.
 The awards were renamed and re-organised in 2015. The awards are conferred in six
institutional and two individual categories.
 The Nari Shakti Puraskar awards ceremony could not be held last year due to COVID-19
pandemic situation in the country.

4. 123Pay: RBI Governor launches new UPI
Payments for feature phones
 RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das launched a new UPI payments service for
feature phones UPI123Pay on March 8, 2022.
 The service will benefit an estimated 40 crore feature phone users and
enable them to undertake digital payments in a secure manner.
 The RBI Governor also launched a 24x7 helpline for digital payments called
'Digisaathi'. The helpline has been set up by the National Payments
Corporation of India (NPCI).
 RBI’s new UPI payment service for feature phones has been
named “123Pay”.
 The UPI payments gateway involves a three-step method to initiate and
execute services for users.
 The service will work on simple phones that do not have an internet
connection.
 As of now, the UPI features are mostly available only on smartphones.

5. Russia detaches from International Space
Station? True or False
 Russia has reportedly released a propaganda video that
shows Russian cosmonauts disconnecting the Russian
ISS modules from the International Space Station.
 The video shows the Russian cosmonauts saying
goodbye to NASA Astronaut Mark Vande Hei and then
the Russian segment detaches from the rest of the ISS.
 As per media reports, the video is a fake one, a sort of a
joke film or could even be a silent threat from Russia
amid complete breakdown of relations with the United
States and the west.

6. Fortune India 50 Most Powerful Women 2021
 On International Women's Day 2022, take a look at the
list released by Fortune India in 2021 mentioning the
names of the 50 most powerful women in the country.
 The Finance Nirmala Sitharaman took the no.1 spot
while Reliance's Nita Ambani grabbed second place.
 The other names are Soumya Swaminathan, Chief
Scientist of WHO, Gita Gopinath of the International
Monetary Fund, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

7. Russia releases list of unfriendly countries
and territories
 The Government of Russia has approved a list of the
‘unfriendly’ countries and territories with Russia that
imposed sanctions against the country after the start of a
military operation of the Russian Armed Forces in
Ukraine.
 The list of ‘unfriendly’ countries released by Russia
includes the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom,
EU states, among others.
 Along with the list of ‘unfriendly’ countries and territories,
Russia also declared that all the corporate deals with the
companies and the individuals from these countries will
have to be approved by a government commission.

8. UP Election Exit Poll 2022: Yogi Adityanath
predicted to retain power with historic 288-
326 seats
 UP Exit Poll Result 2022 predicted the likely outcome of the
Assembly Elections 2022 held in the state in 7 phases
starting from February 10.
 The final result of the UP assembly election will be
announced on March 10, 2022, along with the other
states- Punjab, Manipur, Goa, and Uttarakhand.
 The Assembly Elections 2022 were held in 5 states- Uttar
Pradesh, Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand, and Punjab.
 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections were held in 7 phases to
elect a 403 member assembly.
 As UP Exit Poll Result 2022 releases, it will be an interesting
watch for BJP whether it will be able to retain its power in
one of the largest states of the country.
