2. Anandibai Joshi Birth Anniversary 2022
Anandibai Joshi's 157th birth anniversary was observed on March
31, 2022. Anandibai Joshi was one of India's first female doctors of
western medicine along with Kadambini Ganguly.
Anandi Gopal Joshi was born on March 31, 1865 in a Marathi
Chitpavan Brahmin family. She was married at the age of 9 years to
a widower Gopalrao Joshi, who was twenty years older than her.
Anandibai was originally named Yamuna, her husband changed her
name to Anandi after marriage.
Gopalrao was a progressive thinker and supported education for
women. He encouraged Anandibai to study medicine and create
her own identity in the world.

3. AFSPA in India: Govt to reduce disturbed
areas under AFSPA in Nagaland, Assam and
Manipur
The central government has decided to reduce disturbed areas
under Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in Nagaland,
Assam and Manipur after decades. This was informed by Union
Home Minister Amit Shah on March 31, 2022.
The Home Minister tweeted informing that the government has
decided to reduce disturbed areas under Armed Forces Special
Powers Act (AFSPA) in the states of Nagaland, Assam and
Manipur after decades.
The decision will result in considerable reduction in areas under
AFSPA in Assam, Nagaland and Manipur from April 1,2022.
The officials, however clarified that AFSPA has not been
completely removed.

4. CCS approves procurement of 15 Light
Combat Helicopters
The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) approved the procurement
of 15 indigenously developed Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) at a
cost of Rs 3,887 crore on March 30, 2022. Out of the total 15
helicopters, 10 will be for the Indian Air Force and 5 will be for the
Indian Army.
The CCS has approved the procurement of 15 Light Combat
Helicopter Limited Series Production (LSP) at the cost of Rs 3,887
crore along with infrastructure sanctions worth Rs 377 crore.
The Light Combat Helicopter is an indigenously designed and
developed combat helicopter comprising 45 percent indigenous
content by value which will increase to more than 55 percent.

5. DA Hike News 2022: Dearness Allowance for
central government employees hiked by 3
percent-Who will benefit?
The Union Cabinet on March 30, 2021 approved a 3 percent
hike in dearness allowance for central government employees
and dearness relief to pensioners.
The dearness allowance for central government employees will
be hiked from the existing 31 percent to 34 percent of basic
pay.
The DA hike will come into effect from January 1, 2022. The DA
increase has been approved based on the recommendations of
the 7th Central Pay Commission.
The combined impact of the increase in dearness allowance for
central government employees and dearness relief to
pensioners on the exchequer will be Rs 9,544.50 crore per
annum.

Hollywood Superstar Bruce Willis, who is well-known for his
work in the franchise ‘Die Hard’, has announced retirement
from acting after being diagnosed with aphasia, a disease that
is impacting his cognitive abilities.
67-years old Bruce Willis, who achieved initial fame for the
1980s comedy-drama TV series ‘Moonlighting’ before he
became an action hero who shouted the famous “Yippee Ki
Yay” in five ‘Died Hard’ films, has appeared in around 100 films
in his career spanning through 4 decades.
Bruce Willis also won acclaim for roles in ‘The Sixth Sense’ and
‘Pulp Fiction’.
According to Bruce Willis’s family statement, “This is a really
