New Delhi (PTI): In or-

to collect all the dry
leaves that have fallen
on the sides of roads
and in parks, and con-
vert it into ‘green or-
ganic manure’ under its
green initiative, said
Vice Chairman Satish
Upadhayay
.
According to Upad-
hyay, the NDMC at pre-
sent produces about 1.5
tonne manure through
dry waste collected
from the big parks like
Lodhi Garden, Nehru
Park, Sanjay Jheel and
others. This manure is
produced at compost
pits created inside the
parks.
“The autumn season
has arrived and leaves
are falling and scatter-
ing everywhere along
the roads, residential
areas and parks. Daily,
our workers remove
the leaves but instead
of throwing it in the
garbage, we have de-
cided to convert these
dry leaves into manure
and use the same for
maintaining and en-
hancing the beauty of
parks and gardens,”
said Upadhayay.
Currently, about 110
compost pits are located
in 47 locations of Lu-
tyens Zones and New
Delhi area, and the
council produces more
than 1.5 tonnes of ma-
nure per day. It takes
about 50-60 days to pro-
duce manure from
green and dry waste,
said officials.
Officials said the
NDMC will increase the
pits in the New Delhi
area to produce more
organic manure.

Landlord to get back

50-yr-old legal battle
New Delhi (ANI):
The Supreme Court
on Friday allowed a
landlord to reclaim
possession of his
shop located at Del-

old legal battle with
tenants in different
judicial forums.
In that proceeding
instituted before the

individuals and
three firms were
originally impleaded

this appeal, however,
only three respond-

respondent in the
year 1936. The appel-
lant became the land-

ing purchased the
subject premises

ground on which the
eviction was asked
for was sub-letting

New Delhi: Seeing the
candidates decided by
Aam Aadmi Party su-
premo Arvind Kejriwal
for the five Rajya Sabha
seats in Punjab, it seems
that his eyes are on
‘Hindu politics’ there
too. Of their five candi-
dates, four are Hindus
and only one is a Sikh
candidate. Of the five
Hindus, two Punjabis
areKhatris,oneVaishya
and one Brahmin. Of
the five retiring Rajya
Sabha MPs, three were
Sikhs and two Punjabi
Khatris. Pratap Singh
Bajwa, Shamsher Singh
Dulhan and Sukhdev
Singh Dhindsa were the
three Sikhs and Naresh
Gujral and Shwet Malik
were Punjabi Khatris.
Akali Dal, BJP and Con-
gress did not send
Vaishyas or Brahmins
to Rajya Sabha. None of
the five MPs were from
outside Punjab and no
one had any profession
other than politics.
In this context, Kejri-
wal has carried out the
‘Delhi experiment’ in
Punjab. When he got
three seats in Delhi, he
sent a leader of his par-
ty, Sanjay Singh, to the
Upper House and on the
remaining two seats, he
sent two businessmen -
Sushil Gupta and ND
Gupta. Similarly, two
businessmen — Ashok
Mittal and Sanjeev Aro-
ra have been sent to
Punjab. The remaining
three names are crick-
eter Harbhajan Singh,
Delhi MLA Radhav
Chadha and election
strategist Sandeep
Pathak. Then with the
announcement of the
names, questions arose
that there is no woman,
Dalit, backward or Mus-
lim among the Rajya
Sabha MPs of the Aam
Aadmi Party who put
up the picture of Bha-
gat Singh and Babasa-
heb Ambedkar. All its
candidates are upper
caste men, business-
men or famous people.
AAP walks the tight rope of ‘Hindu politics’ in Punjab too!

“If you ask me, is our

cannot be normal if the
situation in the border

Earlier on Friday,
Wang met Doval in the

This is the first visit
by a high-level Chinese
diplomat to India since
the border dispute in
eastern Ladakh erupt-

So far, 15 rounds of

taken place to resolve
the issue.
After meeting Doval,

In a stinging 5-pager,

New Delhi: Ever since
Chief Minister Nitish
Kumar has banned liq-
uor in Bihar, there has
been a big increase in
the number of mysteri-
ous deaths. People die
of mysterious diseases
and ailments on every
festival or similar hap-
penings in different dis-
tricts of Bihar. The rela-
tives of those who died
say that the deaths were
caused by drinking, but
the local administra-
tion, state government
ministers and the rul-
ing Janata Dal (U)
spokesperson claim
that the deaths were due
to a mysterious disease.
The surprising thing is
that even before the
post-mortem of those
who died, right from the
collector to the minister
declare that death has
been caused by a myste-
rious disease.
At present, on the oc-
casion of Holi, about 35
people have died due to
this 'mysterious disease'
in three districts – Ban-
ka, Bhagalpur and Mad-
hepura.Therewasnews
in the media that the
death was due to drink-
ing. The relatives of the
deceased also said that
the death was due to
drinking spurious liq-
uor, but the government
said that the death was
due to a mysterious dis-
ease. Surprisingly, the
post-mortem of only
two of those who died
was done, but even be-
fore the report came,
the district collectors
declared that they had
died of a mysterious
disease. At the time of
Diwali also, about 40
people died in four dis-
tricts due to a similar
mysterious disease.
Therefore, by forming a
national task force, it
should be found out that
after the prohibition of
liquor, which such mys-
terious disease is
spreading in Bihar, due
to which such number
of people are dying.
Is there any relation between Nitish’s liquor ban
and deaths due to ‘mysterious disease’ in Bihar?

We hope that China will take a non-discriminatory

WARM WEATHER,
STUN SCIENTISTS
cientists are yet to
decide if the signifi-
cantly high tempera-
tures at the Earth’s
poles are terribly bad
news or just the fickleness of
weather. Last week the South
Pole was warmer by 40 degree
Celsius and the North Pole by 30
degrees Celsius. If it’s not about
the quirky weather then there is
reasonforallof ustobealarmed.
The two Polar Regions experi-
encing such unusual heat waves
in the month of March was de-
scribed by scientists as “ab-
surd”. Martin Siegert, a glaci-
ologist, was quoted by France 24
as saying that “such a heat spike
had never been recorded” in 65
years. “Atmospheric rivers” or
held responsible for the sudden
shooting of temperatures. Both
the polar regions have opposite
seasons so it was an “unusual
occurrence”.
Continued rise in tempera-
tures can lead to melting of gla-
cier ice with disastrous conse-
quences. Scientists have already
warned of rising sea levels but
such unprecedented tempera-
tures at the Poles will hasten the
process.

ith multiple investments
across asset classes all offer-
ing different returns and
having unique terms and
conditions, investors may
find it difficult to manage
their investments and keep
them in line with their finan-
cial goals and risk appetite.
It is therefore advisable to
reach out for help from ex-
perts who can help deter-
mine the ideal investment
strategy according to the
needs of the investor.
A good financial advisor
can help improve your finan-
cial well-being, but finding a
good financial advisor is of-
ten a difficult task. Even
though there are plenty of
financial advisors from in-
surance agents, mutual fund
distributors, registered in-
vestment advisors, media ex-
perts, and some self-pro-
claimed experts on social
media these days, a large
number of so-called financial
advisors are actually sales-
men who sell financial prod-
ucts to earn commission
from them.
With mis-selling of finan-
cial products so rampant in
current times, it is often dif-
ficult to choose a good, unbi-
ased financial advisor who is
not just competent to advise
on money matters but also
keeps your interest above
everything else.
How do
investment
advisors fool us?
Push inferior
investments to
earn commission
Mis-selling of financial prod-
ucts is a big menace these
days. Financial advisors in
the name of advisory often
push plans and products to
the clients to earn commis-
sions from them without
checking the suitability of
such investments with the
customers. It is therefore ad-
visable to take advice from a
fee-based advisor who only
earns fees from their clients
and can provide an unbiased
advisory. It is imperative to
check with the financial advi-
sors on how they make mon-
ey to identify possible areas
of conflict of interest.
Ignore the
concerns
of the clients
If your investment advisor
does not make an effort to un-
derstand your investment
needs and ignore your con-
cerns then you should stay
away from them. It is the job
of an investment advisor to
understand the needs of the
client and address his doubts.
A client may be set on an idea
but a good investment advi-
sor will give their honest
opinion to the client and
should not push their agenda.
Avoiding you after
receiving fees
Certain investment advisors
tend to disappear once they
have onboarded a new client
and earned their fees. An ad-
visor needs to continuously
monitor his client’s invest-
ments, make changes so that
they are aligned with the cli-
ent’s risk profile and goals,
and frequently update the
clients with the investment
performance.
They are not
fiduciary
If your financial advisor
does not have a fiduciary
duty i.e. he or she is not le-
gally bound to act in your
interest, that is another red
flag to watch out for. Advi-
sors often push financial
products which have higher
expenses as they stand an op-
portunity to earn higher
commissions. They often
push schemes like close-end-
ed mutual funds or pension-
based funds which have long-
er lock-in periods and high
penalties on early withdraw-
al by simply withholding in-
formation from their clients.
A good investment advisor
on the other hand provides
full transparency and disclo-
sures and lays out all the pros
and cons of the product they
are suggesting and lets the
client make an informed de-
cision. An advisor who does
not take the time to explain
all the facts may have an ul-
terior motive and can mis-
guide the investor for per-
sonal gains.
Driven by
personal agenda
Sometimes, financial advi-
sors, create multiple ac-
counts for the same client to
show that they have convert-
ed new clients, thereby creat-
ing hassles for the clients to
track their investments. A
financial advisor should try
to streamline the process for
the client keeping their per-
sonal goals aside.
Having a good investment
advisor is important as they
help the clients develop a
healthy relationship with
their finances A bad advisor
on the other hand may lead to
the client losing faith in the
financial system. Investors
need to be watchful of these
red flags and if your finan-
cial advisor has exhibited
any of these behaviours, it is
best to have a clear conversa-
tion with them or even con-
sider changing your advisor
altogether. It is best to take
help from trusted SEBI regis-
tered investment advisors
who are competent and pro-
vide unbiased investment
advisory services.

New Delhi: When the
assembly elections of
five states started, Yogi
Adityanath was the only
Chief Minister, for
whom the BJP made an-
nouncement that the
party will be contesting
electioninUPonhisface
and was declared the
next CM as well, if the
party came to power. In
the rest of the states, the
BJP did not declare its
contenders. In Uttara-
khand, Goa and Ma-
nipur, the Chief Minis-
ter was contesting the
elections but the party
was not contesting in
their names. Votes were
not being sought in the
name of making these

ister, yet again. In this
respect,YogiAdityanath
was above his counter-
parts. He was the ‘first
among equals’ as Chief
Minister in whose name
the party was contesting
elections.
But after the election
the situation changed.
Now all the four chief
ministers are equal be-
cause like Yogi, the oth-
er three chief ministers
have also been repeated
by the BJP
. So, now eve-
ryone’spositionissame.
No one is first among
equals. Even Pushkar
Singh Dhami, who lost
the election in Uttara-
khand, has been made
the Chief Minister by
the party
. He is possibly
the second leader after
Mamata Banerjee, who
lost the election and is
still becoming the Chief
Minister. People have
been becoming minis-
ters, but there is no ex-
ample of a leader who
lost the election has
gone on to become the
chief minister.
After the election, a
senior leader, engaged
in the exercise of decid-
ing the Chief Minister
in the four states, in an
informal conversation,
admitted that winning
the elections in the four
states is a big deal for
the BJP. In the last elec-
tions, the BJP had
formed the government
in Goa and Manipur,
but this time the party
has won a majority in
both these states. Earli-
er, in the states ruled by
the BJP, it was either
losing the elections or
somehow the majority
was being juggled. Ex-
cept Gujarat and Hary-
ana, the BJP did not
make a comeback in the
rest of the states.
That is why it is being
said that soon after the
results, the party high
command had decided
that the Chief Minis-
ters under whose com-
mand the party has won
will get the reward of
victory. Still, if it took
more than 10 days to fi-
nalise the names, it was
because the party high
command had to work
out a consensus among
the state leaders so that
no question would
arise. However, now the
challenge before the
party is to make Push-
kar Dhami an MLA
within six months.

New Delhi: Even
though the incumbent
External Affairs Sec-
retary Harsh V Shring-
la is scheduled to re-
tire in April this year,
it’s not clear whether
he may be allowed to
go or retained.
This doubt has
arisen because of the
golden government
policy of continuity
over change wherev-
er necessary.
So, if Shringla is re-
tained in one way or
another, it may indicate
that the government
considers the current
Russia-Ukrain crisis as
a critical one that de-
mands the continuity
of the foreign secretary
.
In case Shringla is
retained outside the of-
fice of FS, there are a
number of officers
competent enough to
fill his vacancy
.
Some of them are
Jaideep Sarkar posted
in South Africa and Ms.
Ruchira Kamboj, Am-
bassador of India to
Bhutan; Taranjit Singh
Sandhu, Ambassador
of India in the US; San-
jay Kumar Verma, In-
dia’s Ambassador in
Japan; Vinay Mohan
Kwatra in Nepal.
According to the
principle of seniority
and experience, the
next FS may be from
either the 1987 or
1988 batch.
It is also in the air
that if Shringla retires
in the normal course,
incumbent India’s Am-
bassador to US Taran-
jit Singh Sandhu
stands a better chance
to become the FS.
However, it is point-
ed out that since Sand-
hu is seen as doing his
job commendably in
the US, he may not be
pulled back from there.
The flip side is that the
appointment of Sand-
hu as FS, instead of
disturbing the excel-
lent India-US relations,
may work to move the
relations to the next
stage of development,
whatever that may be.
Then, there is anoth-
er interesting point for
which a precedent al-
ready exists. After re-
tiring as FS, Shringla
is sent to the US as am-
bassador and Sandhu
brought in his office.
This kind of arrange-
ment happened earlier
also. Former FS Niru-
pama Menon Rao was
made India’s Envoy to
the US (2011-2013) post
her retirement in 2011.
Interestingly, Taran-
jeet Singh Sandhu’s
wife Reenat Sandhu
was on May 13, 2021, ap-
pointed as Secretary
(West) in the Ministry
of External and within
eight months she was
moved from South

The significance, or
otherwise, of this move
is yet to be grasped.

New Delhi: The Con-
gress party has fielded
its former president
Ripun Bora from a Ra-
jya Sabha seat in As-
sam. Earlier it seemed
that Congress would
win this seat easily. But
now the suspense has
arisen on this as Chief
Minister Himanta
Biswa Sarma is deter-
mined to defeat the
Congress in this con-
test and has declared
two candidates from
his alliance side. The
BJP has fielded Pabitra
Margherita as its can-
didate and from the
second seat, its col-
league, UPPL working
president Rangwara
Narjari, has been nom-
inated. Himanta claims
that many Congress
MLAs want to switch
sides and join BJP, so
they will not vote for
Sonia Gandhi's chosen
candidate.
Keep in mind that
the BJP and its allies
have a total of 82 MLAs
in Assam. To win a seat
in Assam's 126-member
assembly, 42 votes are
needed. Congress,
CPM, AIUDF and Akh-
il Gogoi's Raijor Dal
together have 44 MLAs.
That is, the Congress
alliance has two more
than the required num-
ber. But Himanta says
that Congress rebel
Shaktikanta Das and
Sharman Ali Ahmed
will not vote for Con-
gress candidate and
likewise Phanidhar Ta-
lukdar of AIUDF will
not vote for him. In this
way the number need-
ed by Congress will
definitely not be met.
He has claimed a vic-
tory on both the seats.
Thus, the Rajya Sabha
election in Assam is a
testing time for the
Congress strategists
and managers. Both
the seats falling vacant
are of Congress. If
both the seats are won
by the BJP and its al-
lies, the Congress will
suffer a big loss.
Numbers may favour, but
odds are against it!

Govt keeping close watch on trade
amid Russia-Ukraine crisis: Goyal
New Delhi (PTI): The
government is continu-
ously monitoring the
opportunities that the
Russia-Ukraine war
has opened up for India
and is in dialogue with
traders to ensure more
exports of wheat and
other commodities,
Commerce Minister Pi-
yush Goyal told the Ra-
jya Sabha on Friday
.
Replying to supple-
mentariesduringQues-
tion Hour, he said Indi-
an wheat exports are
set to cross 70 lakh met-
ric tonnes this year
from merely 2 lakh met-
ric tonnes two years
ago.
Goyal said many
ships and containers
have been blocked in
several European coun-
tries following the Rus-
sia-Ukraine war and
the crisis has only
deepened, especially af-
ter the Covid-19 crisis.
“The government
has maintained dia-
logue with shipping
companies and those
who operate contain-
ers. The government is
keeping a close watch
on the situation and
whatever steps are re-
quired to be taken it
will take action,” he
told the members in the
upper house.
He also said that the
government is in dia-
logue with exporters
and importers and
those involved in busi-
ness and various meas-
ures are being taken to
ensure that payments
come on time and busi-
nesses do not suffer.
“India, despite the
constraints due to Cov-
id, has achieved ex-
ports of $400 billion,
which is historic as In-
dia has never achieved
this figure,” he said.
The minister said In-
dia has been continu-
ously monitoring the
opportunities this
opens up for India and
Indian exporters.
“We are working in
coordination among
various ministries for a
smooth shift.”

Replying to a supple-

Chauhan also said that

In parallel, the minis-

tions related to the up-
coming auction.
“We will conduct
auctions very soon. By
the end of this year, we
will start 5G services in
the country,” he said.
He also asserted that
state-owned BSNL will
begin its 4G services
this year. Chauhan said
that a “great revolu-
tion” has taken place in
the telecom sector over
the last seven years and
that data consumption
has soared while tariffs
are at the lowest.
There is a robust
public grievance mech-

complaints pending for
over 48 hours are esca-

Chauhan said.
The government has
taken a slew of meas-

Lok Sabha passes
Finance Bill
New Delhi (PTI): The
Lok Sabha on Friday
approved the Finance
Bill, which gives effect
to new taxation, thus
completing the Budget-

fiscal.
The Finance Bill was
approved by the Lower

39 official amendments
moved by Finance Min-
ister Nirmala Sithara-
man and rejecting the
amendments proposed
by the opposition by
voice vote.
Replying to a discus-
sion on the Finance
Bill, Sitharaman said
India was probably the
only country that did
not resort to new taxes
to fund the recovery of
the economy hit by the
COVID pandemic.
She said that accord-
ing to an OECD report,
as many as 32 countries
have increased the tax
rates after pandemic.
“Instead, we put
more money where
multiplier effect would
be maximum,” she said
while referring to the
Budget’s focus on rais-

figures rebounding,
the minister said the
number of domestic
passengers is expected
to touch 4.10 lakh per
day by next year and
will surpass that num-
ber by 2024-25 as the
airline industry is in a
“V” shaped recovery.
“India is looking at tre-

Mukundara Hills
Tiger Reserve, first
time in Rajasthan,
the forest depart-
ment of Ghana and
Kota with the use of the
Boma capturing technique
of Madhya Pradesh, suc-
cessfully translocated the
first trials of Chital (spotted
deer) from Keoladeo Nation-
al Park to Mukundara Hills
Tiger Reserve on March 9th,
2022. Seeing the increasing
number of 3,500 to 4,000 chi-
tals in Keoladeo National
Park, Bharatpur, the park
has been chosen to relocate
chitals to Mukundara.
In the first phase, 6 chitals
including 2 male and 4 fe-
male chitals have been relo-
cated to Mukundara Tiger
Reserve. This entire process
was completed under the su-
pervision of Field Director
Mukundara Hills Tiger Re-
serve Sedu Ram Yadav;
Mukundara Tiger Reserve’s
Deputy Conservator of For-
est Bijo joy, and Bharatpur
Ghana Keoladeo National
Park Deputy Conservator of
Forest Mohit Gupta, along
with the field team of Keo-
ladeo National Park, Bharat-
pur. There is a target to relo-
cate 500 chitals from Ghana
to Mukundara national
park. 450 km. The journey
was completed in 10 hrs.
Tarun Mehra, Assistant
Conservator of Forests,
Ramgarh Vishdhari Sanctu-
ary, Bundi district stated
that to ensure that there is
enough prey for tigers and
leopards, this step has been
initiated. In the absence of
adequate prey, the tigers
can move out of their natu-
ral habitat and hunt domes-
tic animals or local people
living in adjoining villages.
Mentioning the technique
Mehra said that Boma cap-
turing technique is mainly
used in the countries of
the East African forests
and India, Madhya
Pradesh has also used
this technique to relocate
animals. In the Boma tech-
nique, a closed enclosure
or compartment is created.
The technique involves the
luring of animals into an
enclosure by chasing them
with food grains and water
through funnel-like fencing.
On one side of the enclosure
chital or any animal is kept
with their food and water.
For almost a month these
chitals are kept in the forest
itself inside the enclosure
with the arrangement of
food and water there. In this
technique animals without
making them unconscious
relocate to different places.
Mukundara Tiger Reserve
deputy forest conservator
RS Bhandari said that at the
zoo this animals’ relocation
is common but for wild ani-
mals’ shifting from a wild
forest area to another area is
an unusual and difficult
task. As these animals are
fragile and soft-hearted so
there is a great chance of
their death while conduct-
ing such operations. In com-
ing times there is a plan to
translocate 750 spotted deer
or chitals in Jaipur, Kota,
and Karauli. The tigress
MT-4 is presently in the soft
enclosure of the 28-hectare
area. After a huge demand to
release MT-4 from the soft
enclosure to the open forest
of Mukundara, the National
Tiger Conservation Author-
ity (NTCA) has granted per-
mission to relocate MT-4 to
Mukundara Hills Tiger Re-
serve. According to the offi-
cials of the Mukundara Ti-
ger Reserve, it is planned
that a pre-base will get ready
by the forest department to
ensure prey for tigress MT-4
and settle the tigress there.
With this, there would be
only one alive tiger MT-4 in
the Reserve. In the coming
times, the forest department

Daily, our workers remove the leaves but instead of throwing it in the garbage, we have de- cided to convert these dry leaves into manure and use the same for maintaining and en- hancing the beauty of parks and gardens,” said Upadhayay. Currently, about 110 compost pits are located in 47 locations of Lu- tyens Zones and New Delhi area, and the council produces more than 1.5 tonnes of ma- nure per day. Of their five candi- dates, four are Hindus and only one is a Sikh candidate. Of the five Hindus, two Punjabis areKhatris, oneVaishya and one Brahmin. Of the five retiring Rajya Sabha MPs, three were Sikhs and two Punjabi Khatris. Pratap Singh Bajwa, Shamsher Singh Dulhan and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa were the three Sikhs and Naresh Gujral and Shwet Malik were Punjabi Khatris. Akali Dal, BJP and Con- gress did not send Vaishyas or Brahmins to Rajya Sabha. None of the five MPs were from outside Punjab and no one had any profession other than politics. In this context, Kejri- wal has carried out the ‘Delhi experiment’ in Punjab. When he got three seats in Delhi, he sent a leader of his par- ty, Sanjay Singh, to the Upper House and on the remaining two seats, he sent two businessmen - Sushil Gupta and ND Gupta. Similarly, two businessmen — Ashok Mittal and Sanjeev Aro- ra have been sent to Punjab. The remaining three names are crick- eter Harbhajan Singh, Delhi MLA Radhav Chadha and election strategist Sandeep Pathak. Then with the announcement of the names, questions arose that there is no woman, Dalit, backward or Mus- lim among the Rajya Sabha MPs of the Aam Aadmi Party who put up the picture of Bha- gat Singh and Babasa- heb Ambedkar. All its candidates are upper caste men, business- men or famous people. AAP walks the tight rope of ‘Hindu politics’ in Punjab too! New Delhi (Agen- cies): There can be no normality in India-Chi- natiesunlessthetroops amassed at the Line of Actual (LAC) Control are withdrawn, Exter- nal Affairs Minister S Jaishankar told his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi during three- hourtalksinNewDelhi on Friday that ended without any joint state- ment or agreement on the way forward. Wang, who arrived on Thursday and met National Security Ad- viser (NSA) Ajit Doval foranhourinthemorn- ing, held bilateral talks with Jaishankar before leavingforKathmandu. According to Jais- hankar, whobriefedthe media himself, their meeting had a “broad and substantive agen- da” and talks were “open and candid”. China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said Wang proposed re- vivingthe“India-China plus” initiative for pro- jects in South Asia, an outcome of the Wuhan meetingbetweenPrime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping in 2018. It stat- ed that China did not seek a “unipolar asia” and “respects India’s traditional role in the region”, during his talks in Delhi. In a departure from the past, when the Gov- ernment of India had refusedtoholdbilateral talksonanyissueother than the boundary stand-off triggered by PLA troops amassing and transgressing are- as along the LAC since April 2020, talks be- tween Wang and Jais- hankar, as well as sepa- rately with Doval, took in a number of other issues, including trade and commerce, visas for Indian students as well as international and regional develop- ments. However, the government said the focus was on the situa- tion in the border areas and bilateral relations that had been “dis- turbed by Chinese ac- tions since April 2020”. “If you ask me, is our relationship normal to- day, my answer to you is no it is not, and it cannot be normal if the situation in the border areas is abnormal. Surely the presence of a large number of troops there, in contra- vention of agreements, is abnormal,” Jais- hankar said in re- sponse to a question, referring to large parts of the LAC in eastern Ladakh, where about 100,000 Indian and Chi- nese soldiers are ranged against each other,afterthePLAvio- lated previous border agreements from 1993- 1996 on maintaining the status quo. NO NORMALITY IN TIES UNTIL LAC DISENGAGEMENT: S JAISHANKAR New Delhi (Agen- cies): In response to Chinese Foreign Minis- ter Wang Yi’s invite to visit Beijing, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval said on Fri- day that he could em- bark on a trip to the neighbouring nation after the border issues were resolved, accord- ing to sources. Earlier on Friday, Wang met Doval in the latter’s office in South Block. This is the first visit by a high-level Chinese diplomat to India since the border dispute in eastern Ladakh erupt- ed over two years ago. So far, 15 rounds of military talks have taken place to resolve the issue. After meeting Doval, Wang held bilateral talks with External Af- fairs Minister S Jais- hankar. The Chinese Foreign Minister’s visit to Del- hi is part of his South Asia tour, which took him to Kabul and Paki- stan where he raked up the Jammu and Kash- mir issue. During the Organisa- tion of Islamic Coop- eration meeting in Is- lamabad, Wang had said: “On Kashmir, we have heard again today the calls of many of our Islamic friends. And China shares the same hope.” Could visit China after dispute resolved: Doval responds to invitation IN 3-HR-LONG MEET, BORDER, UKRAINE, AND BILATERAL ISSUES DISCUSSED, BUT NO AGREEMENT ANNOUNCED NSA Ajit Doval with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday. Mumbai (ANI): In a shocking development, the aged parents of for- mer Bollywood-linked entrepreneur Disha Salian, have knocked the doors of Rashtra- pati Bhavan complain- ing how Union MSME Minister Narayan Rane and his MLA son Nitesh Rane are “liars” and virtually driving them to suicide. In a stinging 5-pager, Satish Salian and his wife Vasanti Salian have targeted the Rane father-son duo and some private television channels for running a ‘false narrative’ on tel- evision and social me- dia on their deceased daughter Disha — who had fallen from a build- ing or committed sui- cide on June 8, 2020. Drawing parallels with the Nirbhaya rape-cum-murder case of Delhi a decade ago, the Salians pointed out that till now, that vic- tim’s identity has not been revealed, but here “Rane is blatantly tak- ing my daughter’s name” repeatedly and saying that she was raped. Asking “whether the law of the land is not applicable to the Union Minister”, the Salians said even after regis- tering a (police) against them, the “li- ars” Rane duo have not stopped maligning the family’s name. When contacted, the Salian couple said that it has been two days since they wrote to President Ram Nath Kovind, but there has been no response so far. “We have also made the same appeal to Prime Minister Naren- dra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Bharatiya Janata Party Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis and Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, to stop a few politicians from maligning our daugh- ter’s name,” Salian told media. Moni Sharma New Delhi: Ever since Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has banned liq- uor in Bihar, there has been a big increase in the number of mysteri- ous deaths. People die of mysterious diseases and ailments on every festival or similar hap- penings in different dis- tricts of Bihar. The rela- tives of those who died say that the deaths were caused by drinking, but the local administra- tion, state government ministers and the rul- ing Janata Dal (U) spokesperson claim that the deaths were due to a mysterious disease. The surprising thing is that even before the post-mortem of those who died, right from the collector to the minister declare that death has been caused by a myste- rious disease. At present, on the oc- casion of Holi, about 35 people have died due to this 'mysterious disease' in three districts – Ban- ka, Bhagalpur and Mad- hepura.Therewasnews in the media that the death was due to drink- ing. The relatives of the deceased also said that the death was due to drinking spurious liq- uor, but the government said that the death was due to a mysterious dis- ease. Surprisingly, the post-mortem of only two of those who died was done, but even be- fore the report came, the district collectors declared that they had died of a mysterious disease. At the time of Diwali also, about 40 people died in four dis- tricts due to a similar mysterious disease. Therefore, by forming a national task force, it should be found out that after the prohibition of liquor, which such mys- terious disease is spreading in Bihar, due to which such number of people are dying. Is there any relation between Nitish’s liquor ban and deaths due to ‘mysterious disease’ in Bihar? ‘Narayan Rane and his son are ‘liars’, driving us to suicide’ New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday raised with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi the issue of return of Indian students to China to resume their studies and hoped that Bei- jing will adopt a “non-discriminatory approach” on it. “I took up strongly the predicament of Indian students studying in China who have not been allowed to return, citing Covid restrictions. We hope that China will take a non-discriminatory approach since it involves the future of so many young people,” Jaishankar said at a media brief- ing shortly after the talks. “Minister Wang Yi assured me that he would speak to the relevant authorities on his return on this matter. Last week the South Pole was warmer by 40 degree Celsius and the North Pole by 30 degrees Celsius. If it’s not about the quirky weather then there is reasonforallof ustobealarmed. The two Polar Regions experi- encing such unusual heat waves in the month of March was de- scribed by scientists as “ab- surd”. Martin Siegert, a glaci- ologist, was quoted by France 24 as saying that “such a heat spike had never been recorded” in 65 years. “Atmospheric rivers” or held responsible for the sudden shooting of temperatures. Both the polar regions have opposite seasons so it was an “unusual occurrence”. Continued rise in tempera- tures can lead to melting of gla- cier ice with disastrous conse- quences. Scientists have already warned of rising sea levels but such unprecedented tempera- tures at the Poles will hasten the process. The military establishment,whichusesPa- kistan’s leaders as puppets, is ostensibly backing the no- trust move. The opposition parties blame Imran for the country’s economic ills and inflation. The beleaguered leader made a desperate appeal to the people of Pakistan for support against the “gang of thieves” who were plotting his downfall. “A gand of thieves has been looting this country for the past 30 years and now they are indulging in horse-trading” to remove him from office, Imran said in a video. He urged the peo- ple to join him in a rally on March 27, a day before the no- trust motion is to be taken up. Economically, Pakistan is literally surviving on bor- rowings. China-Pak Econom- ic Corridor projects aimed at renewing ancient trade routes are far from being completed due to corruption and debt-related issues. Such is the situation that Pakistan had to request China to refi- nance its RMB 15 billion loan given three years ago so that it could pay back some other outstanding loan. Pakistan has an annual inflation rate of over 12 percent. GROUND BENEATH PAK PM IMRAN IS SHAKING “A gand of thieves has been looting this country for the past 30 years and now they are indulging in horse- trading” to remove him from office, Imran said in a video. He urged the people to join him in a rally on March 27 I ith multiple investments across asset classes all offer- ing different returns and having unique terms and conditions, investors may find it difficult to manage their investments and keep them in line with their finan- cial goals and risk appetite. It is therefore advisable to reach out for help from ex- perts who can help deter- mine the ideal investment strategy according to the needs of the investor. A good financial advisor can help improve your finan- cial well-being, but finding a good financial advisor is of- ten a difficult task. Even though there are plenty of financial advisors from in- surance agents, mutual fund distributors, registered in- vestment advisors, media ex- perts, and some self-pro- claimed experts on social media these days, a large number of so-called financial advisors are actually sales- men who sell financial prod- ucts to earn commission from them. With mis-selling of finan- cial products so rampant in current times, it is often dif- ficult to choose a good, unbi- ased financial advisor who is not just competent to advise on money matters but also keeps your interest above everything else. How do investment advisors fool us? Push inferior investments to earn commission Mis-selling of financial prod- ucts is a big menace these days. Financial advisors in the name of advisory often push plans and products to the clients to earn commis- sions from them without checking the suitability of such investments with the customers. It is therefore ad- visable to take advice from a fee-based advisor who only earns fees from their clients and can provide an unbiased advisory. It is imperative to check with the financial advi- sors on how they make mon- ey to identify possible areas of conflict of interest. Ignore the concerns of the clients If your investment advisor does not make an effort to un- derstand your investment needs and ignore your con- cerns then you should stay away from them. It is the job of an investment advisor to understand the needs of the client and address his doubts. A client may be set on an idea but a good investment advi- sor will give their honest opinion to the client and should not push their agenda. Avoiding you after receiving fees Certain investment advisors tend to disappear once they have onboarded a new client and earned their fees. An ad- visor needs to continuously monitor his client’s invest- ments, make changes so that they are aligned with the cli- ent’s risk profile and goals, and frequently update the clients with the investment performance. They are not fiduciary If your financial advisor does not have a fiduciary duty i.e. he or she is not le- gally bound to act in your interest, that is another red flag to watch out for. Advi- sors often push financial products which have higher expenses as they stand an op- portunity to earn higher commissions. They often push schemes like close-end- ed mutual funds or pension- based funds which have long- er lock-in periods and high penalties on early withdraw- al by simply withholding in- formation from their clients. A good investment advisor on the other hand provides full transparency and disclo- sures and lays out all the pros and cons of the product they are suggesting and lets the client make an informed de- cision. An advisor who does not take the time to explain all the facts may have an ul- terior motive and can mis- guide the investor for per- sonal gains. Driven by personal agenda Sometimes, financial advi- sors, create multiple ac- counts for the same client to show that they have convert- ed new clients, thereby creat- ing hassles for the clients to track their investments. A financial advisor should try to streamline the process for the client keeping their per- sonal goals aside. Having a good investment advisor is important as they help the clients develop a healthy relationship with their finances A bad advisor on the other hand may lead to the client losing faith in the financial system. Investors need to be watchful of these red flags and if your finan- cial advisor has exhibited any of these behaviours, it is best to have a clear conversa- tion with them or even con- sider changing your advisor altogether. It is best to take help from trusted SEBI regis- tered investment advisors who are competent and pro- vide unbiased investment advisory services. RED FLAGS TO LOOK OUT FOR WHEN PICKING AN INVESTMENT ADVISOR W WITH MIS-SELLING OF FINANCIAL PRODUCTS SO RAMPANT IN CURRENT TIMES, IT IS DIFFICULT TO CHOOSE A GOOD, UNBIASED ADVISOR WHO IS NOT JUST COMPETENT TO ADVISE ON MONEY MATTERS BUT ALSO KEEPS YOUR INTEREST ABOVE EVERYTHING ELSE Having a good investment advisor is important as they help the clients develop a healthy relationship with their finances A bad advisor on the other hand may lead to the client losing faith in the financial system. The CBI in an affida- vit filed before the apex court vehemently op- posed Indrani Muker- jea’s bail plea saying she has committed the of- fence of murder of her own daughter and at- tempt to murder of her own son. Indrani Mukerjea may abscond as she is a British national, the CBI further stated. SHEENA BORA MURDER CASE Mahesh Sharma New Delhi: When the assembly elections of five states started, Yogi Adityanath was the only Chief Minister, for whom the BJP made an- nouncement that the party will be contesting electioninUPonhisface and was declared the next CM as well, if the party came to power. In the rest of the states, the BJP did not declare its contenders. In Uttara- khand, Goa and Ma- nipur, the Chief Minis- ter was contesting the elections but the party was not contesting in their names. Votes were not being sought in the name of making these leadersastheChief Min- ister, yet again. In this respect,YogiAdityanath was above his counter- parts. He was the ‘first among equals’ as Chief Minister in whose name the party was contesting elections. But after the election the situation changed. Now all the four chief ministers are equal be- cause like Yogi, the oth- er three chief ministers have also been repeated by the BJP . So, now eve- ryone’spositionissame. No one is first among equals. Even Pushkar Singh Dhami, who lost the election in Uttara- khand, has been made the Chief Minister by the party . He is possibly the second leader after Mamata Banerjee, who lost the election and is still becoming the Chief Minister. People have been becoming minis- ters, but there is no ex- ample of a leader who lost the election has gone on to become the chief minister. After the election, a senior leader, engaged in the exercise of decid- ing the Chief Minister in the four states, in an informal conversation, admitted that winning the elections in the four states is a big deal for the BJP. In the last elec- tions, the BJP had formed the government in Goa and Manipur, but this time the party has won a majority in both these states. Earli- er, in the states ruled by the BJP, it was either losing the elections or somehow the majority was being juggled. Ex- cept Gujarat and Hary- ana, the BJP did not make a comeback in the rest of the states. That is why it is being said that soon after the results, the party high command had decided that the Chief Minis- ters under whose com- mand the party has won will get the reward of victory. Still, if it took more than 10 days to fi- nalise the names, it was because the party high command had to work out a consensus among the state leaders so that no question would arise. However, now the challenge before the party is to make Push- kar Dhami an MLA within six months. Win or lose, BJP backs its former CMs for second innings! AS PARTY COMMANDS India’s next External Affairs Secretary:Web of speculations surround Raisina Hills Rakesh Ranjan New Delhi: Even though the incumbent External Affairs Sec- retary Harsh V Shring- la is scheduled to re- tire in April this year, it’s not clear whether he may be allowed to go or retained. This doubt has arisen because of the golden government policy of continuity over change wherev- er necessary. So, if Shringla is re- tained in one way or another, it may indicate that the government considers the current Russia-Ukrain crisis as a critical one that de- mands the continuity of the foreign secretary . In case Shringla is retained outside the of- fice of FS, there are a number of officers competent enough to fill his vacancy . Some of them are Jaideep Sarkar posted in South Africa and Ms. Ruchira Kamboj, Am- bassador of India to Bhutan; Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Ambassador of India in the US; San- jay Kumar Verma, In- dia’s Ambassador in Japan; Vinay Mohan Kwatra in Nepal. According to the principle of seniority and experience, the next FS may be from either the 1987 or 1988 batch. It is also in the air that if Shringla retires in the normal course, incumbent India’s Am- bassador to US Taran- jit Singh Sandhu stands a better chance to become the FS. However, it is point- ed out that since Sand- hu is seen as doing his job commendably in the US, he may not be pulled back from there. The flip side is that the appointment of Sand- hu as FS, instead of disturbing the excel- lent India-US relations, may work to move the relations to the next stage of development, whatever that may be. Then, there is anoth- er interesting point for which a precedent al- ready exists. After re- tiring as FS, Shringla is sent to the US as am- bassador and Sandhu brought in his office. This kind of arrange- ment happened earlier also. Former FS Niru- pama Menon Rao was made India’s Envoy to the US (2011-2013) post her retirement in 2011. Interestingly, Taran- jeet Singh Sandhu’s wife Reenat Sandhu was on May 13, 2021, ap- pointed as Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External and within eight months she was moved from South Block to the Nether- lands as India’s Envoy. The significance, or otherwise, of this move is yet to be grasped. The permissible number of attempts is also six with relaxa- tions for certain catego- ries of candidates. Thus, the existing rules provide for fair oppor- tunities to the aspirants even if one attempt is lost due to some exigen- cies, the Centre added. Earlier it seemed that Congress would win this seat easily. But now the suspense has arisen on this as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is deter- mined to defeat the Congress in this con- test and has declared two candidates from his alliance side. The BJP has fielded Pabitra Margherita as its can- didate and from the second seat, its col- league, UPPL working president Rangwara Narjari, has been nom- inated. Himanta claims that many Congress MLAs want to switch sides and join BJP, so they will not vote for Sonia Gandhi's chosen candidate. Keep in mind that the BJP and its allies have a total of 82 MLAs in Assam. To win a seat in Assam's 126-member assembly, 42 votes are needed. Congress, CPM, AIUDF and Akh- il Gogoi's Raijor Dal together have 44 MLAs. That is, the Congress alliance has two more than the required num- ber. But Himanta says that Congress rebel Shaktikanta Das and Sharman Ali Ahmed will not vote for Con- gress candidate and likewise Phanidhar Ta- lukdar of AIUDF will not vote for him. In this way the number need- ed by Congress will definitely not be met. He has claimed a vic- tory on both the seats. Thus, the Rajya Sabha election in Assam is a testing time for the Congress strategists and managers. Both the seats falling vacant are of Congress. YOUR DAY Horoscope by Saurabbh Sachdeva o inhabit leopards and tigers in Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve, first time in Rajasthan, the forest depart- ment of Ghana and Kota with the use of the Boma capturing technique of Madhya Pradesh, suc- cessfully translocated the first trials of Chital (spotted deer) from Keoladeo Nation- al Park to Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve on March 9th, 2022. Seeing the increasing number of 3,500 to 4,000 chi- tals in Keoladeo National Park, Bharatpur, the park has been chosen to relocate chitals to Mukundara. In the first phase, 6 chitals including 2 male and 4 fe- male chitals have been relo- cated to Mukundara Tiger Reserve. This entire process was completed under the su- pervision of Field Director Mukundara Hills Tiger Re- serve Sedu Ram Yadav; Mukundara Tiger Reserve’s Deputy Conservator of For- est Bijo joy, and Bharatpur Ghana Keoladeo National Park Deputy Conservator of Forest Mohit Gupta, along with the field team of Keo- ladeo National Park, Bharat- pur. There is a target to relo- cate 500 chitals from Ghana to Mukundara national park. 450 km. The journey was completed in 10 hrs. Tarun Mehra, Assistant Conservator of Forests, Ramgarh Vishdhari Sanctu- ary, Bundi district stated that to ensure that there is enough prey for tigers and leopards, this step has been initiated. In the absence of adequate prey, the tigers can move out of their natu- ral habitat and hunt domes- tic animals or local people living in adjoining villages. Mentioning the technique Mehra said that Boma cap- turing technique is mainly used in the countries of the East African forests and India, Madhya Pradesh has also used this technique to relocate animals. In the Boma tech- nique, a closed enclosure or compartment is created. The technique involves the luring of animals into an enclosure by chasing them with food grains and water through funnel-like fencing. On one side of the enclosure chital or any animal is kept with their food and water. For almost a month these chitals are kept in the forest itself inside the enclosure with the arrangement of food and water there. In this technique animals without making them unconscious relocate to different places. Mukundara Tiger Reserve deputy forest conservator RS Bhandari said that at the zoo this animals’ relocation is common but for wild ani- mals’ shifting from a wild forest area to another area is an unusual and difficult task. As these animals are fragile and soft-hearted so there is a great chance of their death while conduct- ing such operations. In com- ing times there is a plan to translocate 750 spotted deer or chitals in Jaipur, Kota, and Karauli. The tigress MT-4 is presently in the soft enclosure of the 28-hectare area. After a huge demand to release MT-4 from the soft enclosure to the open forest of Mukundara, the National Tiger Conservation Author- ity (NTCA) has granted per- mission to relocate MT-4 to Mukundara Hills Tiger Re- serve. According to the offi- cials of the Mukundara Ti- ger Reserve, it is planned that a pre-base will get ready by the forest department to ensure prey for tigress MT-4 and settle the tigress there. With this, there would be only one alive tiger MT-4 in the Reserve. In the coming times, the forest department will try to bring a few more tigers to Mukundara. Earli- er, MT-2 and MT-3 died, whereas MT-1 is missing for over a year from the re- serve. (Report by-Anubha Jain, Journalist Writer).
