2. RAIL KAUSHAL VIKAS YOJANA LAUNCHED
• Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana: Railways Minister Ashwini
Vaishnaw launched Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana, a
programme under the aegis of Pradhan Mantri
Kaushal Vikas Yojana on September 17, 2021.
• Under Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana, entry-level training
will be provided to the youth in industry-relevant skills
through Railway Training Institutes as part of 75 years
of independence 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav'.
• Speaking at the Rail Bhawan, Railway Minister Ashwini
Vaishnaw said that it is an auspicious day as
Vishwakarma Jayanti is being celebrated across the
country.
• He also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi
on his birthday and dedicated the Rail Kaushal Vikas
Yojana as the gift of Railways to the Prime Minister on
his birthday. He emphasized that training in remote
areas to be conducted under Rail Kaushal Vikas
Yojana.

POWER MINISTER
• The Union Minister of Power, New & Renewable
Energy, R K Singh on September 16, 2021, addressed
the US India Strategic Partnership Forum and Industry
leaders, in a virtual industry roundtable.
• The Union Minister in his address apprised about the
Indian Government’s priorities for the energy sector as
the Ministry starts working on Prime Minister Modi’s
vision of energy independence by 2047.
• The Power Minister R K Singh noted that India and the
US have similar goals and they share the same zeal
towards the climate change issues.
• He added that both nations want to have a
partnership that can be an inspiration for the rest of
the world in the fight towards climate change.

SEPTEMBER 17 AS TELANGANA LIBERATION DAY-
• Telangana Liberation Day: National Vice-
President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)

demanded that September 17 be
officially celebrated as Telangana
Liberation Day.
• There is a call to observe Telangana
Liberation Day on September 17 by
several parties, as it was on this day that
the state got its liberation in 1948. The
ruling TRS government has not though
formally announced anything regarding
the same.

5. BHEL COMMISSIONS INDIA’S LARGEST FLOATING SOLAR
PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANT IN ANDHRA PRADESH
• State-owned BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited)
on September 16, 2021, announced that it will
commission India’s largest floating solar photovoltaic
plant in Andhra Pradesh.
• BHEL, without disclosing the cost of the project, said
that the 25-mega watt floating SPV project, located
at NTPC Simhadri in Andhra Pradesh, covers an area
of 100 acres.
• In an official statement, the state-owned BHEL said
that the company has successfully commissioned
India’s largest Floating Solar PV Plant. It added,
notably, with its unique state-of-the-art design, the
project is an engineering marvel, created by BHEL.

CHAIRPERSON OF ICAO AVIATION SECURITY COMMITTEE
• India's Shefali Juneja has been elected as
the first woman Chairperson of the
International Civil Aviation Organization
(ICAO) Aviation Security Committee.
• India has taken up the responsibility of
the ICAO Aviation Security Committee
after a gap of 12 years.

of the Shanghai Cooperation
Organisation (SCO) summit in
Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe.
• The 21st meeting of the SCO Council

RECORD TO MARK PM MODI'S 71ST BIRTHDAY
• The central government is aiming to achieve
a COVID Vaccination record to mark Prime
Minister Narendra Modi’s 71st birthday. PM
Modi's party, the Bharatiya Janta Party, has
planned a 20-day mega event “Seva and
Samarpan Abhiyan” to mark his “20 years in
public service”.
• Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya
said, "let’s do #VaccineSeva and give him (PM
Modi) a birthday present by getting those
vaccinated who haven’t taken the dose so far."
• MyGovIndia portal also tweeted saying, "Let’s
wish PM @narendramodi on his birthday today
by following his clarion call of strengthening
India’s fight against COVID-19 & getting
vaccinated with family & friends!"

9. 6TH BRICS YOUNG SCIENTIST FORUM: INDIA HIGHLIGHTS DIGITAL
REVOLUTION, ENERGY, HEALTHCARE AND INNOVATION
• At the 6th BRICS Young Scientist Forum which was
hosted by the Department of Science and Technology in
collaboration with the National Institute of Advanced
Studies, Bengaluru, India focused on energy, healthcare,
innovation, and the digital revolution.
• Sanjay Bhattacharya, Secretary (CPV & OIPA) & BRICS
Sherpa at BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South
Africa) Young Scientist Forum gave the valedictory
address at the BRICS Young Scientist Forum.
• Inaugural BRICS Digital health Summit was also held
recently. It reflected the growing need for innovative
solutions to the traditional challenges, which were
exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic.
