2. PENGERTIAN
• Katarak adalah lensa mata yang keruh
atau berkabut.
• Lensa mata yang sehat biasanya jernih.
Jika lensa mata keruh, jalannya sinar akan
berkurang atau terhambat dan lensa tidak
dapat difokuskan.
• Katarak tidak menimbulkan nyeri maupun
rasa tidak enak.
6. • Keadaan ini biasanya terjadi pada orang
lanjut usia akibat pengerasan lensa yang
tidak terhindarkan.
• Penderita diabetes dapat mengalami
katarak sekitar 10 tahun lebih awal dari
bukan penderita diabetes.
• Katarak dapat juga terjadi pada bayi baru
lahir atau pada remaja.
7.
8. PENYEBAB
• Usia lanjut
• Diabetes
• Penyakit mata
• Cedera pada lensa mata
• Katarak kongenital/bawaan
• Paparan berlebihan dengan sinar ultra
violet
9. GEJALA-GEJALA
• Pandangan kabur, berkabut, berasap,
penglihatan seperti tertutup film
• Silau terhadap cahaya
• Penglihatan dekat
• Penglihatan ganda
• Gangguan dalam menginterpretasikan
warna
• Daya penglihatan berkurang jika tidak
diatasi menyebabkan kebutaan
• Sering minta ganti kacamata

11. What Are the Symptoms of Cataracts?
If you have a cataract, you may be experiencing any of these symptoms:
Painless blurring or dimming of
your vision
Sensitivity to light and glare,
especially in bright sunlight or while
driving at night
12.
13. What Are the Symptoms of Cataracts? (cont’d)
Increased nearsightedness,
requiring frequent changes in your
eyeglass prescription
Distortion or ghost images in either eye
14.
15. KOMPLIKASI
• Katarak yang terjadi sejak lahir akan
menghambat perkembangan penglihatan,
kecuali bila diatasi dalam beberapa bulan.
16. Tindakan dokter anda
• Penglihatan dekat dapat ditolong dengan
kacamata
• Jika lensa mengeras, lensa yang keruh
hanya dapat diatasi dengan operasi
17.
18.
19. PENCEGAHAN
• Menjaga diet agar kadar gula darah selalu
normal jika anda penderita diabetes
• Makan makanan yang dapat melindungi
kelainan degeneratif pada mata, anti-
oksidan seperti vitamin C, zink, dan
selenium, serta tumbuh-tumbuhan yang
kaya akan bioflavonoid.
20. Kebahagiaan anda tumbuh berkembang manakala anda
membantu orang lain. Namun, bilamana anda tidak mencoba
membantu sesama, kebahagiaan akan layu dan mengering.
Kebahagiaan bagaikan sebuah tanaman, harus disirami setiap
hari dengan sikap dan tindakan memberi. (J.Donald Walters)

22. Conjuctivitis
• Red eye (hyperaemia), irritation (chemosis) and watering
(epiphora) of the eyes are symptoms common to all
forms of conjunctivitis. However, the pupils should be
normally reactive and the visual acuity normal.
23. Pterygium
A pterygium (Greek word for "winged growth") is a
fibrovascular proliferation of the nasal (or, more rarely,
temporal) bulbar conjunctiva that grows toward the
cornea and eventually over its surface. It results from
heavy exposure to sunlight and wind.
24. PINGUECULAE
• A pingueculum is a yellowish or whitish patch or bump on
the white of the eye, most often on the side closest to the
nose. It is not a tumor but an alteration of normal tissue
resulting from the deposit of protein and fat from the tears.
Unlike a pterygium, a pingueculum does not actually grow
onto the cornea. A pingueculum may also be a protective
response by the eye to chronic eye irritation and sunlight.
27. • Keratitis is a condition in which the eye's cornea, the
front part of the eye, becomes inflamed. The
condition is often marked by moderate to intense
pain and usually involves impaired eyesight.
28. Hordeolum
• A stye (Lat. hordeolum = barleycorn) is a red, tender,
painful, or itchy red bump, resembling a pimple,
occurring on the eyelash. It represents an infection
(usually by bacterium Staphylococcus aureus) of an oil
gland attached to the hair follicle.
29. Chalazion
• A chalazion (Gk. chalazion = small lump) appears as a
red, non-tender lump on the eyelid. It represents a non-
infectious inflammation of the eyelid soft tissue, due to
fats squeezed from the obstructed meibomian (oil)
glands.
