Pace & Rhythm
In dramatic construction there must be variation of pace and rhythm, monotony of any kind being
certain to induce boredom. Comparing at least two plays you have studied in the light of this
statement, show how variations of pace and rhythm have been used to attract of heighten the interest
of the audience. Within Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire and Arthur Miller s The
Crucible variations of pace and rhythm are utilized in order to attract or heighten the attention of the
audience. However, in order to determine the manner in which variations of pace and rhythm affect
the audience interruptions to routines, the juxtaposition of calm and hysteria, the use of pace to
reflect tension and the way in which structure influences the ... Show more content on

It would be good if it was made clear that this was another form of interruption wish you had
never seen the sun go down! Despite the sexual tension between Proctor and Abigail, the pace
decreases, which is indicated by the absence of exclamation marks. Furthermore, the entrance of
Rebecca Nurse decreases the pace. Through theses changes in rhythm and pace, Miller emphasises
the calming influences of Proctor and Rebecca and thereby evokes sympathy towards them from the
audience. The audience thereby perceives these characters as more level headed and sensible
amongst the hysteria thereby increasing the respect felt towards these characters and hence further
criticizing the other characters. In addition, both Miller and Williams explore the juxtaposition of
calm and hysteria through variations of pace and rhythm. Within A Streetcar Named Desire there is
a distinct change of pace between the end of scene three and the opening of scene four. During
Stanley s abuse of Stella a great degree of action and events occur thus increasing the pace.
Furthermore, the sound of a blow and Stella s cry in conjunction with the ubiquitous exclamation
marks within Blanche s speech in phrases such as I want my sister s clothes! We ll go to that woman
upstairs! the pace is

A Night At The Perk
"A night at The Perk"
"Ethnography or field research is a sociological method that explores how people live and make

comprises of a group of people, especially within a sphere of intellectual or social activity, who

These businesses that are run by students are very vital to the student body that is interested in
business and entrepreneurship. They should be introduced in every campus that hosts business
studies. Business students read about ventures, organizations and management in textbooks, but it's
a completely different experience while making decisions about an actual business. The thrill of
making decisions, feeling the consequences of every decision made is something that cannot be
taught. It must be experienced. This method of learning would revolutionize how business and
management is taught in universities, creating social change and bettering society (Mars, Matthew
M. and Gary Rhoades, 435–459).
The members of my field research discourse community– "The Perk" would be any student that
works for this business or any person who visits and purchases food from this café. Although "The
Perk" is open to everybody, the late–night hours and the location allow only students who dorm on
campus to be able to visit the café. Circumstances have made this café exclusively for resident
students. The main goals of this community include providing a safe place for students to eat and
hang out with friends in a late–night café. "The Perk" community believes in the policy of
"customers always come first and customers are always right." This community also provides a safe

Abstract. Urbanisation Is Increasing At A Rapid Pace And
Abstract Urbanisation is increasing at a rapid pace and one of the consequences of this trend is that
more people live in cities, more people demand more products, and above all, more food needs to be
transported to and distributed within the cities. With the advancement of new technologies and
widespread use of mobile devices in the population, more and more people prefer to shop online,
not just books, electronics, or fashion products, but food products as well, in particular the groceries.
In this work, we focus on this growing challenge of food distribution in the cities, from the
viewpoint of this emerging channel: home deliveries of online food purchases. Especially in the UK
which is the second biggest online grocery market over the ... Show more content on

The negative consequences are more intense, especially in urban areas. In Europe, around 75% of
the population lives in urban areas and it is foreseen to increase up to 80% by 2020 (EEA, 2010).
Moreover, food products are among the most frequently delivered items to retail shops in city
centres. They also require special distribution conditions owing to their perishable nature and
quality requirements (Gebresenbet et al. 2011). In this work, we investigate the transport of food in
urban areas, and especially in the area of London to identify possibilities for: i) CO2 and emission
factors such as CO, NOx and Hydro Carbons reduction, ii) better and efficient fuel consumption, iii)
reduction on the operational cost for the transportation of food products, and iv) mitigation the
traffic nuisance. The improvements would be arising from different logistics sharing practices; such
as transport pooling and collaboration among retailers and 3PLs. The market in the grocery retail
sector in the UK is very competitive with major retailers such as Tesco, ASDA, Ocado, Sainsbury's.
According to the IGD (2015), the total grocery market size in the UK was £174.5 billion in 2014
and estimated to be approximately £177.5 billion in 2015 and more than £200 billion in 2019. There
is a continuous growth in the grocery market; however, the rate of growth is declining, leading to
higher levels of competition among retailers.

Life in the 1950's compared to Today
Life today is very fast–paced. Everyone is in a hurry to get somewhere and will push you out of the
way to get there, like it's some kind of race. In our personal lives, we have our cell phones, and
maybe a home phone, scheduled play dates for our kids, microwaves, satellite TV, home security
systems that don't involve dogs, solar landscape lighting, automatic underground sprinkler systems
for our lawns, and compact fluorescent lights to replace the incandescent bulbs that waste energy. In
the business world, you have meetings that you can attend by using a video phone, PowerPoint
presentations to help you get your point across at the meetings you can't get out of, instant
messaging to speak to clients and other businesses around the ... Show more content on

Life in the 1950's was a lot more simple, without all the complications brought about by today's fast
pace. I could imagine myself being a "Soda Jerk" while I worked my way through college to be an
accountant, a mechanical engineer, or an architect; all of which are very respectable career choices,
and can be done without an over–abundance of technology. I could also see myself in the middle of
an episode of "Leave it to Beaver", or "Dobie Gillis", and I suppose that's an accurate portrayal of
the way life was "supposed" to be in 1950's suburbia, but only in suburbia. Back to my parents. My
parents were raised in a completely different environment than the typical "suburbia" family. Mom
grew up in Missouri on a farm, and Dad grew up in different parts of Arkansas going from place to
place to pick whatever was in season to make a buck. How they ended up in Michigan, I don't know
for sure, but you can bet that life was a lot different for them than it was for the Cleaver family.
Whereas I have focused my life on technology, I could see myself living like that. I like the simple
things as well as the complexity of a technologically advanced society. If I had grown up in that
same time period, I wouldn't know of what exists today. Technology as a determining factor in the
path my life takes, wouldn't exist. 9–11, Katrina, the Tsunami, the Department of Homeland
Security, both Gulf Wars, Hip Hop; none would exist. I would have grown up in a

Romeo And Juliet Fast Pace Decisions Essay
Occasionally everyone makes atrocious decisions, and usually, these choices do not cause an
enormous negative impact on their future. In the classic Romeo and Juliet, the outcome of the
characters' demise is a result of their fast pace–decisions, their ignorance/assumptions, and their lack
of ability in accepting responsibility. Throughout the characterization of both Romeo and Juliet, they
have both made fast pace–decisions. Firstly, Romeo's quick transition between his strong love for
Rosaline to his immortal love for Juliet is unintelligent. Throughout the first act, Romeo is obsessed
with Rosaline Capulet. He says, "the all–seeing sun ne'er saw her match since first the world begun"
(1.2.95). This is important because it shows how fast ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, the two lovers believe that they undoubtedly are in love without even knowing the other
person. Their desire to stay together is so strong that they believe that they can not survive without
each other, which is the reason they get married. Prior to them getting married, Friar Lawrence
warns Romeo and gives him advice on slowing things down. "These violent delights have violent
ends/And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,/Which, as they kiss, consume./The sweetest
honey/Is loathsome in his own deliciousness/And in the taste confounds the appetite./Therefore,
love moderately. Long love doth so" (2.6.9–14). Which means that all these delights will have
sudden endings. The Friar also says that these joys burn up in victory like when fire and gunpowder
come in contact they explode. He goes on to say that honey does indeed taste delicious, however,
too much will make you indisposed. Lastly, Romeo and Juliet get married secretly without even
consulting their parents once because they assumed their parents would never agree. However,
earlier on in the play, Capulet also says that he's too old to keep on feuding with the Montagues.
Lord Capulet also stopped Tybalt from fighting Romeo, when he came to the

Modern Life And Its Fast Pace Flow
As of the moment, most of us seem to have problems with the modern life and its fast–pace flow.
Technically, almost all individuals try to come up with an understanding of how to become
independent and strong individuals capable of surviving and continuing on with existence. For some
of us, there are times wherein someone would wish for a super power or means in order to make life
easier and more bearable. This concern might be somewhat unrealistic but this is the reality. Almost
everyone wants to have a life that is convenient and far more reliable. Life has never been easy even
before the olden times. There exists a heavy burden and weight placed on the shoulder of each
individual which has been carried from the historical heritage of human existence along with the
external cultures and motivations that influenced it. This is the reality that most of us face today. No
matter how many people try to run away from it, it is the reality which most of us needs to accept
and live on. This antagonism posts a significant and impacting concern particularly on the fact that
conflicts and modern issues are primitive or inherent circumstances which had integrated with life 's
existence prematurely. After the eighteenth century when most of the parts of the world became
dependent and liberated, the on–growing concerns regarding politics, religion, morality, values and
economics had directly shifted and influenced the flow of life particularly the natural virtue of
human beings

The Current Pace of Space Exploration
Look above, and you will see a sky with endless possibilities. The past millennium can be described
as the exploration era. In merely one thousand years, humanity has managed to learn to travel the
seas, develop automobiles, and innovate aeronautic machines. However, no other invention is as
important as leaving the planet on a space shuttle. Up to the year 2000, the farthest humankind has
ever been to is the moon. Ask SpaceX's CEO Elon Musk about the current pace of space
exploration, and he'll answer with not satisfactory. Human beings have never been one to delay an
expedition. Although many factors contribute to the advancement of space colonization, economic,
medical, and motivational factors are the three main elements.
Many people do not understand why we need to colonize in space. They think humanity should stop
wasting money and resources on trying to advance into space and instead use it on expanding the
industries on Earth. However, as renown scientist Michio Kaku says, "we should at least be a two
planet species" because it gives humans a second chance in case of a catastrophic event (Universe).
According to AMNH, every five to ten million years, an asteroid the size of the proposed Chicxulub
meteor, the one that probably wiped out the dinosaurs, is predicted to strike the Earth (AMNH).
Looking back, sixty–five million years have passed since the reptiles went extinct. Researchers have

Depositary Pace University: Personal Statement
Who would have thought that a sudden mandatory security lockdown at my summer internship at
the Depositary Trust & Clearing Corporation would be the answer to all of my career questions.
Growing up with four older sisters who are all extremely successful and happy in their chosen
careers, I was eager to start finding my niche and my purpose. I had a thirst for knowledge and
understanding of the world outside of my little town in Staten Island. This eagerness helped me land
my first real–world learning experience. I was thirteen years taking classes at a performing arts
school in New York City and the manager of the school asked if I would like to shadow and assist
the marketing manager of the school to gain an understanding of the Marketing industry. This
opened my eyes to a different field and I was eager and ready to learn more. For weeks I applied
online to several different companies seeking internships. I was surprised to receive an interview
request from Downtown Magazine. I was shaking and petrified as I made my way to the offices of
Downtown Magazine but the CEO loved me and offered me the position immediately after my

Alack, the good King Duncan hath passèd
With golden blood spilled in silver halls.
How can this be? It must be a fevered dream
No, rather a nightmare. Cursed thoughts
That whisper in black night to black mind.
Mine heart womanly, though forged virtue fights
This black augury, fights this canker pretence.
And late Duncan's sons, wherefore have they fled?
Who's ghost do they flee? Breathing, may he be?
Brave Macbeth heir–apparent, shalt have all
It seems true, as promis'd. So what of I?
My blood they said, not his, shall father kings.
Do those beldams spin truth only for he?
My thoughts seem cursed to be unbecoming.

And never shall I fall off. I remain

Success, failures, experiences, trials, and tribulations usually shape up the life and career of a

I hail from a city called Chennai from the South of India and I grew up in a family rich in traditions

Charlie Pace
Charlie Pace was born in 1979 to Simon and Megan Pace, and lived in Manchester, England. When
Charlie was young, he was given a piano as a gift on Christmas Day, thus beginning his career in
music. Charlie honed his musical talents by playing on the street for money, where he spotted a
woman being mugged and saved her, prompting her to call him a hero. Sometime later, Charlie and
his brother Liam had formed a band called Drive Shaft, and landed a record deal. Suddenly, Drive
Shaft became extremely popular for their song "You All Everybody," although they were a one hit
wonder. Liam, amidst their popularity and success, turned to heroin. On Christmas Day, while
touring Finland, Liam gave Charlie a family heirloom, saying because of his addiction he would
never have a family so it should go to Charlie. Eventually, though, Charlie became addicted to
heroin. As the band 's fame began to decrease, Charlie sank further into his addiction. With Drive
Shaft disbanded, Charlie resorted to theft to support his heroin addiction. He charmed a wealthy
woman, Lucy, in order to rob her, but she learned of his intentions and left him as he began to
develop real feelings for her. Charlie then traveled to Australia to persuade a sober Liam to rejoin
the band.

Representation of Pace in the Comic Strip 'Calvin and Hobbes'
PDF File References Introduction In the media there are a variety of images and texts that are used
to convey a host of ideas. This is because the artist is attempting to improve the reader's
understanding of particular concepts by using these elements in conjunction with each other. To
fully understand how this is taking place requires looking at comic strip Calvin and Hobbs. During
this process there will be an examination that is focused on a number of areas. To include: how the
pace is illustrated, the way the panels relate to one another, the differences / similarities between the
two panels, the representational meaning and the main story plot of the comic strip. Together, these
different elements will provide the greatest insights as to how these factors are used in correlation
with one another to tell a larger story. How is 'pace' illustrated in this set of comics strip? The way
that pace is represented in the comic strip is through highlighting action. This occurs by showing
Calvin running home at the beginning of the comic strip. It will then display select amounts of
drama, with Calvin looking into a dark room. This is the point that Hobbs jumps out and startles
him. The next several frames are showing the intense amounts of emotions and action. At which
point, Calvin discovers it is Hobbs. This is when the intensity is winding down. These different
elements are important, in illustrating how the pace starts out with lots of action. These frames are

Government Administration Final Paper: Synopsis on Government and Student Conducted Meetings
Meetings are universally common among people, whether it's a council, school, club, job,
community or government gathering. People assemble in groups to discuss plans for the future,
issues, solutions and they also reflect on previous experiences. Although meetings convene for the
same purpose, initiating and engaging in a government meeting could be different from sitting in for
a local community meeting. The village of Pleasantville's board meetings with the village's trustees
and mayor is conducted similarly to Pace's Student Government meetings and the Pace Community
meetings, yet each meeting differs by serving their specific and targeted community for their own
purpose. The village of Pleasantville conducts public board meetings every second and fourth
Monday of each month. On rare occasions, for further discussion on serious issues or concerns of
Pleasantville, the village board will conduct meetings–like a public hearing–on other weekdays.
These meetings are located in the conference room on the second floor of the Pleasantville Police

'Time For Baseball To Pick Up The Pace'
The article "Time for Baseball to Pick Up the Pace" by Bob Klapisch from The Record talks about
how the game of baseball is taking too much time and the game needs to make some changes to
speed up the game. One of the most important positions in baseball is the pitcher, but changing the
pitcher for every batter or multiple times in one should be limited to two per inning. Nothing has
done more to slow the pace of game than the over–reliance on relievers, especially in the late
innings(Klapisch). Managers sometimes use three pitchers in one inning so they get the right
matchups. By doing this each new pitcher has to throw their warm up pitches. The pitchers also
have to come in from the bullpen to the mound. Both of these events take extra time

Analysis of Brand Expansion Strategy for Pace®
Analysis of Brand Expansion Strategy for Pace® |
Option 1: Pace® Tortilla chip
Pros:
* The risk is lower than creating a new brand
Since Pace® already enjoyed a good reputation and big market share, and salsa sauce lovers are
probably also tortilla chip consumers, a new tortilla chip with the brand name Pace® on it could be
eye–catching on the shelves. The chips markets are highly competitive, so adapting Pace® brand
name would guarantee a better chance of surviving. * The cost is lower than creating a new brand
Branding Pace® Tortilla chip can be more effective and cost efficient than creating a totally new
brand. Lowering the cost is important since it would be extremely difficult for Pace® to gain
enough profitability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
* High marketing support expenditures
Creating a new brand can be extremely costly itself. What makes it worse is the low efficient of
marketing expenditures. When introducing a new product with a new brand, it will cost a lot more to
reach the same level of awareness than a well–known brand. * Can encounter retailer resistance
New brand has to convince retailers believe this product can not only live long but also brings
profit. There thousands brand to be chose into the market but the shelf space is limited. It is very
common that retailers can say no to an immature brand.
Option3: Focus on salsa category
Pros:
* More funds available
Category extension and creating new brand can be highly risky and costly. Only focusing on
existing product lines can further gain competitive advantages for Pace® to gain more market share,
improve brand value, and generate more cash. * More line extensions
Since salsa sauce becomes increasingly popular in the U.S., Pace® can introduce more products
within salsa categories to attract literally every segment, building a stronger brand name, just like
what Pringles® do when they introduced more flavors. * Enhance Pace® brand name
Salsa can be considered as commodity or low–involvement product. It means that a strong brand
name with better emotional function is vital in this category. Pace® can focus on branding its brand
name and make it

melting pot filled with so many different seasonings, however, it becomes easy for the hot water to

people who have experience in big companies. These people can be graduates of Pace University.
However, these people must be proficient in Human Resources or Personnel Department, so they
will know what kind of students those companies want. If a company needs employees in a
particular area, the company can contact the department. Then the department can reveal the

Essay on Alleen Pace Nilsen's View of Sexism in English
Alleen Pace Nilsen's View of Sexism in English
Alleen Pace Nilsen began a study of Sexism in American English after returning from a two–year
stay in Kabul, Afghanistan. Trying to avoid social issues in her research, Nilsen used the dictionary,
as her main source and guide, making note–cards on every entry that seemed to tell something about
male and female. She soon discovered that language and society go hand and hand. Furthermore,
that the language a culture uses is evident in its values and beliefs. Amore careful look at the
English language revealed three main points that Alleen Nilsen elaborates more on. The first point
Nilsen makes is that American culture values woman for their sexiness and men for their success. ...

Nilsen also compared sir and madam in which sir is a term of respect while madam is known as a
manager of a brothel. The word women have so many sexual connotations that people began using
lady instead. It was feminists who wanted the women used over lady. That was successful because
now it is commonly used without implying sexuality. Another discovery of Nilsen was the 200 pairs
of words with masculine and feminine forms nearly all the pairs had the masculine word as the base
and the feminine word as the suffix, which was added. (Example heir–heiress, hero–heroine) Nilsen
research showed that the only time the base of a word is not masculine is when it is dealing with sex
and marriage. The examples that she gives are bride, bridal attendant, bridal gown, and so on. This
is so because marriage is so on. This is so even when a marriage ends in death the woman gets the
title of widow. Nilsen revisits her studies twenty years later and has acknowledged that the
feminist's movement has caused the differences between the sexes to be down played. The second
point Nilsen makes is that Women Are Passive and Men Are Active and that point are illustrated by
the wording of the wedding ceremony. In the ceremony Nilsen points out that the women is
expected to play a passive role and the men play a strong role. The question is asked; "Who gives
this bride away?" was implying that the bride is something to be handed over. This goes back to the
times when

A Career Experience : My Careers And Experience
Careers and experiences
Success, failures, experiences, trials, and tribulations usually shape up the life and career of a
person. I am no exception to this idea. My experiences have taught me lessons. My mistakes have
helped me to grow. My successes have humbled me. My fear of the unknown has helped me face
life.
I hail from a city called Chennai from the South of India and I grew up in a family rich in traditions
and orthodoxy. An age long tradition in India dictates children to decide on a career path as early as
sixth grade. Especially in a family of educated people like the one I was brought up in, children are
encouraged to think about what they want to become ever since they are toddlers trying to learn the
alphabets. Furthermore, it is also customary for elders to ask young children if they are going to
follow the footsteps of their father or their mother. In my case, I could not respond saying I wanted
to be my own person, travel the world and become a princess. That would have been considered
insulting. Therefore, I chose to follow my father's career– Chartered Accountancy.
Based on my choice, I was put on that career path and took relevant classes from 11th grade. Once I
graduated from high school, I immediately enrolled in Chartered Accountancy courses. In order to
fulfill an internship requirement, I worked for my father as an Accountancy intern. I dedicatedly
explored the field of accounting and tried to learn from my father.
Despite finding numbers and accounts interesting, I realized that I was not passionate about it; it
was just not meant for me. Furthermore, my parents were aware of my dislike towards accounting.
After days of futile talking and counseling, my father made one last effort to change my mind. He
gave me the task of assisting him in conducting the audit of one of his clients. He believed that by
giving me more responsibility in the audit of an interesting company, he would succeed in
convincing me to continue accounting. Little did he know that his efforts would be in vain.
That audit was of an event management company called M/s Beep Experience Pvt. This company
organized various events such as music concerts, weddings, and even corporate meetings. It was

The Effect Of Pace On Recall
Memory and learning are very similar but have their differences. In order to learn something, one
must be able to memorize it and then can learn it. Cognitive psychology is the study of mental
process such as learning, memory, and attention. Another key term of cognitive psychology is
memory consolidation. Memory consolidation is taking information from short–term memory and
transferring it into long–term memory. Without proper rehearsal, consolidating information would
be nearly impossible. For my report, I was assigned experiment one. This experiment is called The
Effect of Pace on Recall. This lab tested how well one person can recall information based on how
fast the words were presented. There were two test groups, the control and the

Specific Intensity For Peaking: Is Race Pace The Best Option?
The Art of Peaking
In the world of running, most runners train their whole season for one race. They train for the one
important race that will be better than the rest of them for that race is where they will "peak." For
one to reach that "peak" though they must train. Not just any sort of training, the training that will
help them get to where they want to "peak" is high intensity training. To understand the objective of
this paper, one must know the background of what a "peak" is. "Peaking" is the term runners use to
describe being in the best condition, at a specific time, for an important race, (Alcocer et al). That
best condition means that they are in a good physical, emotional, and mental state. Emotional state

they were divided into two groups: one consisting of HIT and the other RP. "HIT would perform
short intervals at about 105 percent VO2 max, while RP would train at longer intervals at a speed of
about 90 percent of the VO2 max," (Alcocer and etc.). Each participants then trained together for
twelve weeks of baseline training. Meaning that they ran together to put in the mileage needed in
order to start running at high velocity speeds in order to avoid injuries. Then the athletes trained for

The Village Of Pleasantville Board Meetings Essay
. The village of Pleasantville conducts public board meetings every second and fourth Monday of
each month. On rare occasions, for further discussion on serious issues or concerns of Pleasantville,
the village board will conduct meetings–like a public hearing–on other weekdays. These meetings
are located in the conference room on the second floor of the Village hall, which is also next to the
Pleasantville Police Station. The village board consists of four trustees–Steven Lord, Mindy Berard,
Colleen Griffin Wagner and Joseph Stargiotti–a mayor–Peter Scherer–a village clerk–Judith
Weintraub–and the village administrator–Patricia Dwyer. The village board members were dressed
in semi–casual business attire, which appropriately fit their position. The members sat in a
congressional layout, which looked like the formation of a half circle or crescent. This allowed the
audience to see each individual's face and it is easier to identify who is speaking. They also used
parliamentary motions when they spoke. The purpose of the village of Pleasantville board meetings
is to discuss and resolve present issues and future events that are happening or are expected to
happen in the Pleasantville area. Residents have the opportunity to either post questions for the
village board to answer on their website or they can call the board live on the telephone. The
trustees and the mayor usually dominated the entire conversation and were the only people who

The Irregular Plot Pace of Crime and Punishment by Fyodor...
Reflective Statement on Crime and Punishment
I first considered exploring the effect of irregular plot pacing and the placement of the murder at the
beginning of the novel when I picked "The Effect of Irregular Plot Pacing" as a literary discussion
topic. Now in order to determine the effect of these factors, I had to understand what irregular plot
pacing was. Irregular plot pacing is the rhythm of the novel, of the chapters and scenes and
paragraphs and sentences. It's also the rate at which the reader reads, the speed at which novel
events occur and unfold. It's using specific word choices and sentence structure––scene, chapter,
and novel structure––to tap the emotions of the reader so that the reader feels what the writer wants
the reader to feel at any given time during the story. Particularly in Crime and Punishment it is
referring to the relative time (real time like years, days, weeks...etc.) it takes for events to take place
compared to the amount of pages and at which speed Dostoevsky unfolds these aforementioned
events.
After discovering all of this and analyzing various examples throughout the novel I came to the
conclusion that irregular plot pacing can reveal the importance that Rakolnikov, and even
Dostoyevsky, places on certain events. It also affects the manner in which the novel is read. For
example Dostoevsky took a lengthy twelve pages for Rakolnikov reading of his mother's letter at the
first stages of the novel, when in real time it should have taken

The science of leadership provides a better understanding and increases leadership abilities. Self–

The styles of conflict assessment gauge my patterns of dealing with differing personalities and
agendas. The assessment shows that I lean toward an accommodation style. According to Bethel
University (2011), the accommodation style is high in cooperativeness and low on assertiveness.
The advantage of the accommodation style is the focus on the needs and concerns of other people.
When I disagree with someone, I try to see the world from his or her perspective. For example, I
tend to have a liberal view toward politics; however, I find that I reach conclusions on things the
same way conservative people reach conclusions, which is dictated by prior beliefs and personal
circumstances. In other words, I relate to their decisions even though I disagree. However, there are
disadvantages to the accommodative style. The accommodative style smooths over differences and
allows the conflict to remain. The primary contributor to the unresolved situation is the low amount
of assertiveness (Bethel University, 2011). The problem–solving style assessment determines my
strength within the problem solving cycle. While problem solving involves experiences, reflection,
theories, and action, my dominate style is building theories (Bethel University, 2011). The theory
stage remains between reflection and taking action. The advantage of being able to create and
understand theories is determining what the facts mean in relation to the environment. For

community or group of people. No longer does a man need to live and work in the ghetto to reap the

acknowledging its faults in a manner consistent with civil criticism of any another industry or group.
As Hip Hop evolves, it changes its ways. Hip Hop isn't destined by some ineluctable cycle of its

The World Of A Plane Crash
In September of 2004, Lost first aired on ABC. The drama series about people stranded on an island
after a plane crash, had elements of science fiction that J.J Abrams used to captivate millions every
episode. The series starts by introducing the main characters, Jack and Kate, and their personal
backgrounds leading up to the commercial plane crash. However, as the series progresses, characters
once believed to have little impact in the show, are highlighted in a single episode and shed light on
topics never previously thought about. "The 23rd Psalm," the tenth episode in season two,
demonstrates this aspect of the series very well. The science fiction characteristic of the series is
toned down to bring attention to the drug trading in Africa, specifically Nigeria. "The 23rd Psalm"
attempts to inform people around the world how organized crime in Nigeria has affected the lives of
many who live there, what they have to do to survive, and the sphere of influence drug trafficking
has around the world. The episode begins with Eko (Adewale Akinnuoye–Agbaje) finding out that
Charlie Pace (Dominic Monaghan) has in his possession a Virgin Mary statue. Eko demands to see
the statue only to break in open and revealing the heroin inside. Eko then demands that Charlie take
him to the location where he found the statue, which happens to be a small plane crash site farther
inland on the island. The plane appears to be a Nigerian Beechcraft that has already fallen off of a

Global And Fast Pace Market
In today's highly competitive, global and fast pace market there is little room for error even when it
comes to unforeseeable events. Companies are subjugated to not only growing the business but also
sustaining it. By identifying, prioritizing and assessing the various risks that a company can face,
uncertainty is reduced and a company can therefore lessen or control the impact when tragedy does
strike. As the speed of businesses continue to increase, the risks and possibility of interruption also
increases. Catastrophes and natural disasters can certainly disrupt the logistics of a business and
hence when it comes to assessing supply chain disruptive risk, we need to ask the right questions.

The true problem identified by Matsuo was that all the first tier suppliers had purchases the same
MCUs from Rensas Electronics which was further aggravated by the fact that they were all made
from a single factor of the Naka plant which was damaged by the earthquake (Matsuo, 2015). This
leads us to understand the discussion of single and multiple sourcing in supply chain management.
While the number and probability of potential risks for single sourcing is less the damage is highly
impactful as there are no alternate sources available for a short term basis (Matsuo, 2015). While in
principle, Toyota avoid single sourcing, their multi layered structure works closely with the first
layer suppliers who supply key sub assembled components. While Matsuo does discuss the claims
to single and multiple sourcing, we first need to look at the decisions a company needs to make in
order to determine their sourcing strategy. According to Burke and Vakharia, there are three key
decisions that characterize a company's sourcing strategy. They include a) criteria for establishing a
supplier base; (b) criteria for selecting suppliers (a subset of the base) who will receive an order
from the firm and (c) the quantity of goods to order from each supplier selected (Burke and
Vakharia, 2004). In the case of Toyota, their Just–In–Time inventory initiatives encourage supplier

Why Were the Pace Codes Introduced?
The year, 1984 saw the introduction of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, also known as the

standardise and proffessionalise police work. It basically provides a core framework of police
powers and safeguards around stop and search, arrest, detention, investigation, identification and
interviewing suspects. Official dissatisfaction with the rules of the criminal process goes back to the
mid 1960's when the Home Office asked the Crimial Law Revision Committee to look into the rules

The Metropolitan Police began Operation Swamp in 1981 at the beginning of April, aimed at
reducing street crime, mainly through the over use of the sus law which resulted in a number of
black youths being arrested. It was these actions that fuellled the beginning of the riots with bricks
and bottles being hurled at police and vechiles and buildings being set ablaze due to police trying to
make arrests. The "SUS" law caused so much discontent amongst certain areas of the population
following riots in the areas of St Pauls, Bristol in 1980, Brixton, London and Toxteth, Liverpool in
1981 because its alleged abuse was believed to be a contributory factor to these events.
Consequently there was a public inquiry into the riot headed by Lord Scarman, which resulted in the
Scarman Report published on November 25th 1981 and the abolishion of the "SUS" law.
With the "SUS" law no longer in place there was a void where codes of conduct and safeguards

obtained medication to alleviate her withdrawal symptoms. She made an incriminating statement
which she later did not want to be admitted before the court. She said that she had taken some

evidence given by a medical expert that she also suffered from a psychiatric disorder which would

Pace &Amp; Rhythm

  • 1. Pace & Rhythm In dramatic construction there must be variation of pace and rhythm, monotony of any kind being certain to induce boredom. Comparing at least two plays you have studied in the light of this statement, show how variations of pace and rhythm have been used to attract of heighten the interest of the audience. Within Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire and Arthur Miller s The Crucible variations of pace and rhythm are utilized in order to attract or heighten the attention of the audience. However, in order to determine the manner in which variations of pace and rhythm affect the audience interruptions to routines, the juxtaposition of calm and hysteria, the use of pace to reflect tension and the way in which structure influences the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It would be good if it was made clear that this was another form of interruption wish you had never seen the sun go down! Despite the sexual tension between Proctor and Abigail, the pace decreases, which is indicated by the absence of exclamation marks. Furthermore, the entrance of Rebecca Nurse decreases the pace. Through theses changes in rhythm and pace, Miller emphasises the calming influences of Proctor and Rebecca and thereby evokes sympathy towards them from the audience. The audience thereby perceives these characters as more level headed and sensible amongst the hysteria thereby increasing the respect felt towards these characters and hence further criticizing the other characters. In addition, both Miller and Williams explore the juxtaposition of calm and hysteria through variations of pace and rhythm. Within A Streetcar Named Desire there is a distinct change of pace between the end of scene three and the opening of scene four. During Stanley s abuse of Stella a great degree of action and events occur thus increasing the pace. Furthermore, the sound of a blow and Stella s cry in conjunction with the ubiquitous exclamation marks within Blanche s speech in phrases such as I want my sister s clothes! We ll go to that woman upstairs! the pace is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. A Night At The Perk "A night at The Perk" "Ethnography or field research is a sociological method that explores how people live and make sense of their lives with one another in particular places. The focus might be on understanding the human race and the meaning they produce through everyday interactions, or places, and the organizational logics that guide our activities" (columbia.edu, 2017). A discourse community comprises of a group of people, especially within a sphere of intellectual or social activity, who share common goals, who support and understand each other using their own specific language or manner of interaction whether verbal or non–verbal (Oxforddictionaries.com, 2017). The discourse community I researched on is The Pace Perk Café. The Pace ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These businesses that are run by students are very vital to the student body that is interested in business and entrepreneurship. They should be introduced in every campus that hosts business studies. Business students read about ventures, organizations and management in textbooks, but it's a completely different experience while making decisions about an actual business. The thrill of making decisions, feeling the consequences of every decision made is something that cannot be taught. It must be experienced. This method of learning would revolutionize how business and management is taught in universities, creating social change and bettering society (Mars, Matthew M. and Gary Rhoades, 435–459). The members of my field research discourse community– "The Perk" would be any student that works for this business or any person who visits and purchases food from this café. Although "The Perk" is open to everybody, the late–night hours and the location allow only students who dorm on campus to be able to visit the café. Circumstances have made this café exclusively for resident students. The main goals of this community include providing a safe place for students to eat and hang out with friends in a late–night café. "The Perk" community believes in the policy of "customers always come first and customers are always right." This community also provides a safe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Abstract. Urbanisation Is Increasing At A Rapid Pace And Abstract Urbanisation is increasing at a rapid pace and one of the consequences of this trend is that more people live in cities, more people demand more products, and above all, more food needs to be transported to and distributed within the cities. With the advancement of new technologies and widespread use of mobile devices in the population, more and more people prefer to shop online, not just books, electronics, or fashion products, but food products as well, in particular the groceries. In this work, we focus on this growing challenge of food distribution in the cities, from the viewpoint of this emerging channel: home deliveries of online food purchases. Especially in the UK which is the second biggest online grocery market over the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The negative consequences are more intense, especially in urban areas. In Europe, around 75% of the population lives in urban areas and it is foreseen to increase up to 80% by 2020 (EEA, 2010). Moreover, food products are among the most frequently delivered items to retail shops in city centres. They also require special distribution conditions owing to their perishable nature and quality requirements (Gebresenbet et al. 2011). In this work, we investigate the transport of food in urban areas, and especially in the area of London to identify possibilities for: i) CO2 and emission factors such as CO, NOx and Hydro Carbons reduction, ii) better and efficient fuel consumption, iii) reduction on the operational cost for the transportation of food products, and iv) mitigation the traffic nuisance. The improvements would be arising from different logistics sharing practices; such as transport pooling and collaboration among retailers and 3PLs. The market in the grocery retail sector in the UK is very competitive with major retailers such as Tesco, ASDA, Ocado, Sainsbury's. According to the IGD (2015), the total grocery market size in the UK was £174.5 billion in 2014 and estimated to be approximately £177.5 billion in 2015 and more than £200 billion in 2019. There is a continuous growth in the grocery market; however, the rate of growth is declining, leading to higher levels of competition among retailers. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Life in the 1950's compared to Today Life today is very fast–paced. Everyone is in a hurry to get somewhere and will push you out of the way to get there, like it's some kind of race. In our personal lives, we have our cell phones, and maybe a home phone, scheduled play dates for our kids, microwaves, satellite TV, home security systems that don't involve dogs, solar landscape lighting, automatic underground sprinkler systems for our lawns, and compact fluorescent lights to replace the incandescent bulbs that waste energy. In the business world, you have meetings that you can attend by using a video phone, PowerPoint presentations to help you get your point across at the meetings you can't get out of, instant messaging to speak to clients and other businesses around the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Life in the 1950's was a lot more simple, without all the complications brought about by today's fast pace. I could imagine myself being a "Soda Jerk" while I worked my way through college to be an accountant, a mechanical engineer, or an architect; all of which are very respectable career choices, and can be done without an over–abundance of technology. I could also see myself in the middle of an episode of "Leave it to Beaver", or "Dobie Gillis", and I suppose that's an accurate portrayal of the way life was "supposed" to be in 1950's suburbia, but only in suburbia. Back to my parents. My parents were raised in a completely different environment than the typical "suburbia" family. Mom grew up in Missouri on a farm, and Dad grew up in different parts of Arkansas going from place to place to pick whatever was in season to make a buck. How they ended up in Michigan, I don't know for sure, but you can bet that life was a lot different for them than it was for the Cleaver family. Whereas I have focused my life on technology, I could see myself living like that. I like the simple things as well as the complexity of a technologically advanced society. If I had grown up in that same time period, I wouldn't know of what exists today. • 5. Romeo And Juliet Fast Pace Decisions Essay Occasionally everyone makes atrocious decisions, and usually, these choices do not cause an enormous negative impact on their future. In the classic Romeo and Juliet, the outcome of the characters' demise is a result of their fast pace–decisions, their ignorance/assumptions, and their lack of ability in accepting responsibility. Throughout the characterization of both Romeo and Juliet, they have both made fast pace–decisions. Firstly, Romeo's quick transition between his strong love for Rosaline to his immortal love for Juliet is unintelligent. Throughout the first act, Romeo is obsessed with Rosaline Capulet. He says, "the all–seeing sun ne'er saw her match since first the world begun" (1.2.95). This is important because it shows how fast ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Secondly, the two lovers believe that they undoubtedly are in love without even knowing the other person. Their desire to stay together is so strong that they believe that they can not survive without each other, which is the reason they get married. "These violent delights have violent ends/And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,/Which, as they kiss, consume./The sweetest honey/Is loathsome in his own deliciousness/And in the taste confounds the appetite./Therefore, love moderately. Long love doth so" (2.6.9–14). Which means that all these delights will have sudden endings. The Friar also says that these joys burn up in victory like when fire and gunpowder come in contact they explode. He goes on to say that honey does indeed taste delicious, however, too much will make you indisposed. Lastly, Romeo and Juliet get married secretly without even consulting their parents once because they assumed their parents would never agree. However, earlier on in the play, Capulet also says that he's too old to keep on feuding with the Montagues. Lord Capulet also stopped Tybalt from fighting Romeo, when he came to the ... Technically, almost all individuals try to come up with an understanding of how to become independent and strong individuals capable of surviving and continuing on with existence. For some of us, there are times wherein someone would wish for a super power or means in order to make life easier and more bearable. This concern might be somewhat unrealistic but this is the reality. Almost everyone wants to have a life that is convenient and far more reliable. Life has never been easy even before the olden times. There exists a heavy burden and weight placed on the shoulder of each individual which has been carried from the historical heritage of human existence along with the external cultures and motivations that influenced it. This is the reality that most of us face today. No matter how many people try to run away from it, it is the reality which most of us needs to accept and live on. This antagonism posts a significant and impacting concern particularly on the fact that conflicts and modern issues are primitive or inherent circumstances which had integrated with life 's existence prematurely. After the eighteenth century when most of the parts of the world became dependent and liberated, the on–growing concerns regarding politics, religion, morality, values and economics had directly shifted and influenced the flow of life particularly the natural virtue of human beings ... However, as renown scientist Michio Kaku says, "we should at least be a two planet species" because it gives humans a second chance in case of a catastrophic event (Universe). This is because the artist is attempting to improve the reader's understanding of particular concepts by using these elements in conjunction with each other. To fully understand how this is taking place requires looking at comic strip Calvin and Hobbs. During this process there will be an examination that is focused on a number of areas. To include: how the pace is illustrated, the way the panels relate to one another, the differences / similarities between the two panels, the representational meaning and the main story plot of the comic strip. Together, these different elements will provide the greatest insights as to how these factors are used in correlation with one another to tell a larger story. How is 'pace' illustrated in this set of comics strip? The way that pace is represented in the comic strip is through highlighting action. This is the point that Hobbs jumps out and startles him. The next several frames are showing the intense amounts of emotions and action. At which point, Calvin discovers it is Hobbs. Nothing has done more to slow the pace of game than the over–reliance on relievers, especially in the late innings(Klapisch). Trying to avoid social issues in her research, Nilsen used the dictionary, as her main source and guide, making note–cards on every entry that seemed to tell something about male and female. She soon discovered that language and society go hand and hand. Furthermore, that the language a culture uses is evident in its values and beliefs. Nilsen also compared sir and madam in which sir is a term of respect while madam is known as a manager of a brothel. The word women have so many sexual connotations that people began using lady instead. It was feminists who wanted the women used over lady. That was successful because now it is commonly used without implying sexuality. Another discovery of Nilsen was the 200 pairs of words with masculine and feminine forms nearly all the pairs had the masculine word as the base and the feminine word as the suffix, which was added. (Example heir–heiress, hero–heroine) Nilsen research showed that the only time the base of a word is not masculine is when it is dealing with sex and marriage. The examples that she gives are bride, bridal attendant, bridal gown, and so on. This is so because marriage is so on. This is so even when a marriage ends in death the woman gets the title of widow. Nilsen revisits her studies twenty years later and has acknowledged that the feminist's movement has caused the differences between the sexes to be down played. The second point Nilsen makes is that Women Are Passive and Men Are Active and that point are illustrated by the wording of the wedding ceremony. In the ceremony Nilsen points out that the women is expected to play a passive role and the men play a strong role. The question is asked; "Who gives this bride away?" was implying that the bride is something to be handed over. This goes back to the times when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. The Irregular Plot Pace of Crime and Punishment by Fyodor... Reflective Statement on Crime and Punishment I first considered exploring the effect of irregular plot pacing and the placement of the murder at the beginning of the novel when I picked "The Effect of Irregular Plot Pacing" as a literary discussion topic. Now in order to determine the effect of these factors, I had to understand what irregular plot pacing was. Irregular plot pacing is the rhythm of the novel, of the chapters and scenes and paragraphs and sentences. It's also the rate at which the reader reads, the speed at which novel events occur and unfold. It's using specific word choices and sentence structure––scene, chapter, and novel structure––to tap the emotions of the reader so that the reader feels what the writer wants the reader to feel at any given time during the story. Particularly in Crime and Punishment it is referring to the relative time (real time like years, days, weeks...etc.) it takes for events to take place compared to the amount of pages and at which speed Dostoevsky unfolds these aforementioned events. After discovering all of this and analyzing various examples throughout the novel I came to the conclusion that irregular plot pacing can reveal the importance that Rakolnikov, and even Dostoyevsky, places on certain events. It also affects the manner in which the novel is read. For example Dostoevsky took a lengthy twelve pages for Rakolnikov reading of his mother's letter at the first stages of the novel, when in real time it should have taken ... The styles of conflict assessment gauge my patterns of dealing with differing personalities and agendas. The assessment shows that I lean toward an accommodation style. According to Bethel University (2011), the accommodation style is high in cooperativeness and low on assertiveness. The advantage of the accommodation style is the focus on the needs and concerns of other people. When I disagree with someone, I try to see the world from his or her perspective. For example, I tend to have a liberal view toward politics; however, I find that I reach conclusions on things the same way conservative people reach conclusions, which is dictated by prior beliefs and personal circumstances. In other words, I relate to their decisions even though I disagree. However, there are disadvantages to the accommodative style. The accommodative style smooths over differences and allows the conflict to remain. The primary contributor to the unresolved situation is the low amount of assertiveness (Bethel University, 2011). The problem–solving style assessment determines my strength within the problem solving cycle. While problem solving involves experiences, reflection, theories, and action, my dominate style is building theories (Bethel University, 2011). The theory stage remains between reflection and taking action. The advantage of being able to create and understand theories is determining what the facts mean in relation to the environment. For ... • 34. The World Of A Plane Crash In September of 2004, Lost first aired on ABC. The drama series about people stranded on an island after a plane crash, had elements of science fiction that J.J Abrams used to captivate millions every episode. The series starts by introducing the main characters, Jack and Kate, and their personal backgrounds leading up to the commercial plane crash. However, as the series progresses, characters once believed to have little impact in the show, are highlighted in a single episode and shed light on topics never previously thought about. "The 23rd Psalm," the tenth episode in season two, demonstrates this aspect of the series very well. The science fiction characteristic of the series is toned down to bring attention to the drug trading in Africa, specifically Nigeria. "The 23rd Psalm" attempts to inform people around the world how organized crime in Nigeria has affected the lives of many who live there, what they have to do to survive, and the sphere of influence drug trafficking has around the world. The episode begins with Eko (Adewale Akinnuoye–Agbaje) finding out that Charlie Pace (Dominic Monaghan) has in his possession a Virgin Mary statue. Eko demands to see the statue only to break in open and revealing the heroin inside. Eko then demands that Charlie take him to the location where he found the statue, which happens to be a small plane crash site farther inland on the island. The true problem identified by Matsuo was that all the first tier suppliers had purchases the same MCUs from Rensas Electronics which was further aggravated by the fact that they were all made from a single factor of the Naka plant which was damaged by the earthquake (Matsuo, 2015). This leads us to understand the discussion of single and multiple sourcing in supply chain management. While the number and probability of potential risks for single sourcing is less the damage is highly impactful as there are no alternate sources available for a short term basis (Matsuo, 2015). While in principle, Toyota avoid single sourcing, their multi layered structure works closely with the first layer suppliers who supply key sub assembled components. While Matsuo does discuss the claims to single and multiple sourcing, we first need to look at the decisions a company needs to make in order to determine their sourcing strategy. According to Burke and Vakharia, there are three key decisions that characterize a company's sourcing strategy. They include a) criteria for establishing a supplier base; (b) criteria for selecting suppliers (a subset of the base) who will receive an order from the firm and (c) the quantity of goods to order from each supplier selected (Burke and Vakharia, 2004). The "SUS" law caused so much discontent amongst certain areas of the population following riots in the areas of St Pauls, Bristol in 1980, Brixton, London and Toxteth, Liverpool in 1981 because its alleged abuse was believed to be a contributory factor to these events. Consequently there was a public inquiry into the riot headed by Lord Scarman, which resulted in the Scarman Report published on November 25th 1981 and the abolishion of the "SUS" law. With the "SUS" law no longer in place there was a void where codes of conduct and safeguards should be in order for stop and searches to be carried out in the most benificial way for all parties concerned, thus the introduction of the PACE ... There was evidence given by a medical expert that she also suffered from a psychiatric disorder which would was made worse by drug use and therefore affected the reliability of her confession.
