Homeless Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of homelessness can be a challenging endeavor. This subject is
multifaceted, touching on various social, economic, and personal dimensions. Crafting a
thoughtful and impactful essay requires a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding
homelessness, ranging from the systemic issues that contribute to it to the individual stories of
those affected.
One of the difficulties lies in striking the right balance between statistical data and personal
narratives. It's essential to provide a comprehensive overview of the problem while also
humanizing the individuals experiencing homelessness. This necessitates thorough research,
including delving into government reports, academic studies, and firsthand accounts.
Another challenge is navigating the ethical considerations associated with discussing such a
sensitive topic. The portrayal of individuals facing homelessness should be respectful and
empathetic, avoiding stereotypes or stigmatization. Additionally, addressing potential solutions
and policy implications adds another layer of complexity, requiring a nuanced understanding of
social policies and their potential impact.
Furthermore, writing on the subject of homelessness involves grappling with the emotional toll it
can take. Engaging with stories of struggle, resilience, and despair can be emotionally
challenging for the writer. Maintaining objectivity while conveying the human aspect of the issue
requires a delicate touch and a keen awareness of one's own biases.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on homelessness demands a comprehensive understanding of the
issue, a nuanced approach to storytelling, and a deep sense of empathy. It's a task that requires
both intellectual rigor and emotional sensitivity to do justice to the gravity of the topic.
For those seeking assistance with such essays or similar topics, a variety of resources are
available. Professional writing services, such as HelpWriting.net, can provide expert guidance
and support for crafting well-researched and impactful essays on a range of subjects.

The Biographies Of Factory Work In Karen Ho sAn
Elephant...
We are all factory workers in some sense each and every one of us. As individuals,
we each have our unique ambitions, quirks, and moral compasses; however, we
coexist together in institutions to create the same products of prejudice, despite our
characteristic differences. In one instance, Wall Street and Ivy Leagueuniversities in
Karen Ho s The Biographies of Hegemony employ countless undergraduates of
various backgrounds to sustain an unhealthy environment of elitism. Similar ethical
malpractice also extends to the voracious pharmaceutical companies in Ethan Watters
The Mega Marketing of Depression in Japan with various types of researchers and
marketing scholars under their umbrella. The hegemony perpetuated by these
systems are not just limited to humans, as in Charles Siebert s An ElephantCrackup?
the elephant society is severely oppressed by government agencies who acted as a
direct consequence to the behaviors of hunters and poachers. In such institutions,
there can exist two distinct groups of individuals: those who enter a larger system
with the malicious intent to subjugate others, and those who enter with a fervent
desire to advance society. Tragically, because institutions are intrinsically materialistic
and parochial in nature, both groups of individuals would regardless contribute to a
product of inequality and ethical misconduct under these systems of hegemony.
Some of these factory workers are well aware of their intentions to discriminate, yet
choose to be ignorant of their system s impending product of prejudice. Whether it
be pure self indulgence or just plain avarice, these individuals aspire to push their
selfish agenda upon others. In An Elephant Crackup? the extent of mindless
barbarism against the elephants is recounted, They d just throw hand grenades at the
elephants, bring whole families down, and cut out the ivory. I call that mass
destruction (Siebert 346). Unfortunately, there will always exist types of individuals
who show no regard to life around them. This is a particular instance in which
individuals engage in excessive violence merely for the sake of harvesting a
resource. In another example of needless cruelty, a belligerent elephant named Topsy

two different countries Essay
It is said that technology is turning our world into a global village, and this is true to
some extent but even now if we move from one city to another, one can feel the
difference in language, culture, life style and many more.
In my case I moved thousand of miles from my country, Pakistan. The differences are
unimaginable.
I was born in a very big house with 5 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, 2 kitchens, big
lawns in front and back, servant quarters and couple of servants serving my family.
This wasn t like this because we were filthy rich or millionaires. It simply portrays a
middle class home in my country.

doors for fresh air, and for the voice of rooster. Then... Show more content on

Education system is still 50 years old; in short it is right when they say Pakistan is
one of the developing country.
One day my history professor was describing a common households in 18 century,
where women use to wash cloths by hands, clean carpets by beating them, cooking
everything from scratch, only poor working women and girls from middle class
waiting for their charming prince to come and take them to their new houses, and
how they stayed all day home doing house chores. It seemed as if he was describing
my home in my country.
Even though technology is bringing major changes but culture has a powerful
influence on our daily life and not very easy for us to let that go.
When I moved to New York, it was like moving to an entirely different time. It
seemed as I stepped into a time machine and ended up fifty years ahead.
I could never imagine this much liberty, freedom and equal rights for women. I
realized that we have choices, dreams and can make our own rules to live. Undoable
life becomes complicated and tiring, but physical fatigue is worth each and every
minute of mental freedom. This whole thing gives prospect to my life.
Although I miss my servants a lot but on the other hand house chores aren t that
difficult as they are back home. Washing cloths, cooking, cleaning just a couple of
buttons on a machine and bingo, done!
But still now, I would like to go back and spend my life in my country, and try my

Auto Drivers Research Paper
Today, auto technology on sale allows cars to see all around, gathering data on
possible roadway concerns and giving driver s eyes in the back of their heads.
Since more than 90 percent of crashes involve driver error, automakers created a
range of safety systems that aid drivers for brief periods to help avoid accidents.
Driver assist systems include lane departure and blind spot warnings, adaptive cruise
control, automatic braking, telematics control systems and more.
Automobiles have changed a great deal since the invention of the Model T. Cars
today look more like something from a science fiction movie rather than a normal

Small Cap Diaphragm
In the recording session, listening to all the tracks, I chose two different microphones
from the MXL 800 series the large and the small caps diaphragm. Both microphones
were condenser microphones. Listening to both microphones at the track I discovered
few interesting facts between them. First, I mange to listen to the smaller cap both on
the recorded hammer part of the pianoand the recorded strings and I find that both
microphone had different sound. For the small cap that was recorded on the hammer
of the piano sound decent yet it sounded little muddy. It sounded like when it had
an insert plug in of a chorus or modulation that when the key was stroked the sound
was aggressively vibrating, the piano s sustain was little aggressive Picturing if
there was a lot of sound waves combined together. Also it sounded as if the piano
was played in a small room which the sound sounded much tied. Next, the smaller
cap on string recording, sounded much more balanced. It sounded tied yet the every
note on the piano sounded realistic. Moreover, the dynamic range was wide enough
that it was easy to listen to especially it had good amount of bass and harmonics of
the piano. The microphone sound more open rather than narrow sound like the
hammered one.

The microphones produced many important elements such as larger diaphragms
records more sound of highs and lows yet I learned it has a disadvantage if it records
too much sound for example on the strings of the piano, it can sound very muddy and
bombarded with different frequencies. Similarly with small caps on hammers can
cause trouble when concentrates too much on one area which it becomes a dominant
sound overall of the recording. Furthermore, this I came to acknowledge the fact that

Aboriginal Education Is A Subject That Should Be

Aboriginal education is a subject that should be embedded into curricular activities on
a daily basis from the beginning of early childhood. This essay highlights the
importance of Aboriginal education from an early age for both Indigenous and non
indigenous children in Australia through the discussion of three strategise. These
include the use of Aboriginal perspective in the curriculum, Outcomes for Aboriginal
children and cultural safety in the early childhoodenvironment. It also evaluates the
Early Years Learning Framework and how it reflects the inclusion of Aboriginal
individuals, their culture, histories and communities into the learning process.

The term Aboriginal perspectives means to include Aboriginal views and
understandings of particular themes or issues (State of New South Wales through the
NSW Department of Education and Communities, 1999 2011). Educationalists are
encouraged to draw upon the local Aboriginal Elders, and community members
knowledge when teaching Indigenous topics to gain local perspectives (State of New
South Wales through the NSW Department of Education and Communities, 1999
2011). This is essential as the educator must be providing accurate information to the
children, and this will vary depending on the location of the centre. Aboriginal
perspective can be shared with both Aboriginal and non Aboriginal children, as it is a
way of building on exisiting knowledge and enlightening non Aboriginal students to
learn local Aboriginal histories (Anderson, 2010). Throughout the Early Years
Learning Framework are examples of how to incorporate Abroiginal cultures and
perspectives into the learning environment. The document states that It guides
educators in their curriculum decision making and assists in planning, implementing
and evaluating quality in early childhood settings. It also underpins the
implementation of more specific curriculum relevant to each local community and
early childhood setting (Department of Education, Employment and Workplace
Relations, DEEWR, 2009, page 8). It also values the continuity and richness of local
knowledge shared by community
Reflection About Groupthink
Growing up in a new country can be hard for an elementary school kid, not only do
they have to deal with catching up in their studies and adjusting to the new
environment but also the social hierarchy of the playground. By applying the
symbolic interaction theory, my participation in Groupthink shows just how easy
an individual conforms to the norms of the group in order to fit in and how those
actions eventually shape that individual closer to their true self (Brym Lie 2017).
My experience with groupthink can not be narrowed down to one event. It is
more like my whole 4th grade year. In 2007, I had just arrived in Canada from the
Philippines. Being a newcomer, I tried my best to fit in, make new friends, and did
what any Canadian kids my age did. There was this girl that for some reason
everyone avoided. To fit in, my instinct told me to avoid her as well. So, every time
she came close I would run away, anything she touched, I would not dare touch,
and speaking to her would be the worst possible thing anyone could do. Back then I
did not understand why we would do such things. All I knew is that I had to do
them to be considered cool . For the better part of my elementary school career I did
my best to abide by these unwritten rules, without knowing the real reason as to why
they exist in the first place. I remember one afternoon, I met up with my teammates
and coach in the girl s classroom. As I sit down at a random desk, my friends thought

Abnormal Behavior In Medieval Times
For hundreds of years, people have tried to understand the causes and treatments of
people who display abnormal behavior. The most popular belief in the Medieval
times was the idea that supernatural forces, such as demons and evil spirits, were the
cause of people with abnormal behavior (Nevid). Thus, their treatment of this was
often brutal, involving trephination and exorcisms. Although this belief was common
at the time, the ancient Greeks did not hold to this belief. Hippocrates theorized that
abnormal behaviors were due to illness of the body, and that the body s humors
determined ones behavior(Nevid). The belief that abnormal behavior is due to illness
in the body is most similar to the modern medical model. In the late 15th and early
How Does Hamlet React To Uncertainty
In William Shakespeare s play, Hamlet , he communicates that people react to
certainty and uncertainty in different ways. Not only can it affect the people around
them, but it can affect their own lives as well. For some people, the doubt could get
to their head and cause an anxious response where it could lead to a destructive path
for themselves and can really hurt the people they care about most. This is evident
with Hamlet, when his father dies and his ghost tells Hamlet that Claudius was the
one who murdered him. Hamlet became uncertain if the ghost was actually his
father s or an evil spirit. However, this leads him to find out if Claudius really was
the murderer which in turn lead to the death of Polonius and eventually Laertes.
While Claudius was fake praying, Hamlet was uncertain if he should killthe new king
right there as he thought he may go to hell for killing someone, which eventually
stopped him from going through with it. When he went to see his own mother,
Polonius was hiding. but when he calls out for help, Hamlet accidentally killed him.
After the death of Polonius, Laertes made his way back to get revenge for his father
who he thought was killed by the king. During this destructive path, Hamlet had sent
a letter to England pretending to be the king to get his two best friends killed after
being betrayed by them. Finally, they get to the duel and with uncertaintyagain, kills
Laertes with a poisoned rapier before getting justice for Old Hamlet. He
The Burj Al Arab, A Glass And Steel Skyscraper
The Burj Al Arab, a glass and steel skyscraper (Ingersoll 2013, 935), was developed
during a time period of rapid expansion in the United Arab Emirates, and in Dubai
(Bagaeen 2007, 173 197), and was completed in 1999 (Welch 2014) by the Jumeirah
International Group, Architect Tom Wright (McBride 2000, 118), and the Atkins
Company (Ingersoll 2013, 935). The Burj Khalifais 160 stories or 630 meters tall
(Ingersoll 2013, 937). The Burj Khalifa is the tallest artificial structure in the
world. It is a mixed use tower that primarily houses office and residential space
(Baker 2010, 46), the tip reaches 828 meters (Alfred 2010, 66), and the Burj Khalifa
was inaugurated January 4, 2010 (Baker 2010, 46). Like the Burj Al Arab, the Burj
Khalifa was designed by a western architect, Adrian Smith, and the architecture firm,
Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill (Ingersoll 2013, 937). In this industrial age of mega
development, in the nondemocratic United Arab Emirates, mega projects are hastily
and irresponsibly built with little consideration of their regional negative impacts or
sustainability. In the United Arab Emirates, and in lesser developed countries around
the world, their primitive political structures have many holes which are exploited by
the few with power.
Before finding oil, the United Arab Emirates was a poor nation and their economy
relied heavily on fishing and a declining pearl industry (BBC, 2015). After offshore
petroleum was discovered in 1966, the oil industry s
Joan Of Arc Research Paper
I do not fear the soldiers, for my road is made open to me; and if the soldiers come, I
have God, my Lord, who will know how to clear the route that leads to messire the
Dauphin. It was for this that I was born! These are the words that Joan of Arc, also
known as the Maid Of OrlГ©ans exclaimed to a woman while traveling to Chinon
to talk to the king to be Charles VII at about 16 years of age.
Joan of Arc was born around 1412 in DomrГ©my, northeastern France to a father
named Jacques d Arc and Isabelle RomГ©e. Joan was a shepherdess and looked
after the sheep, but she preferred household jobs and chores. During this time, the
Hundred Years War was raging. In 1415, King Henry V of England invaded
northern France. In 1420, the Treaty of Troyes was signed. This treaty was an
agreement that King Henry V would inherit the throne of France because of the death
of King Charles VI of France.
Around this time in 1425, Joan started receiving visions from St. Michael, St.
Margaret of Antioch and St. Catherine of Alexandria. The Saints told Joan to assist
Charles VII to free France from the English. She was only 13 at the time so Joan just

On may 6th, she moved towards another fort of the English. The English instantly

Ultrasound Technology Essay
What is Ultrasound?
Ultrasound or ultrasonography is a medical imaging technique that uses high
frequency sound waves. It is a high pitch frequency that cannot be heard by the
human ear. In ultra sound the following happens: High frequency sound pulses (1
5megahertz) are transmitted from the ultrasound machine into your body using a
probe. The sound wave will travel into your body until it hits an object such as soft
tissue and bone. When the sound wave hits these objects some of the wave will be
reflected back to the probe. While some waves may carry on further till they hit
another object and then reflected back. The probe picks up these reflected sound
waves and relays them to the machine. The distance and time from the probe, ... Show

The probe also has an acoustic lens this helps to focus the emitted sound waves.
The transducer probe can come in many different shapes and sizes. The field of
view depends on the shape of the probe. Also the frequency of the waves emitted
determines how deep the sound waves will penetrate and also the resolution of the
image that will be produced. Probes can be used to move across the body but they
can also be inserted through various openings. E.g. orally, this enables the probe to
get closer to object that is being examined. Being closer to the object may allow for
more detailed views.
The central processing unit is basically the brains behind the ultrasound machine. It
is a computer that sends the electric current to the probe to tell it to emit the sound
waves. It also receives the electrical pulses from the probe which received the sound
waves that were reflected back. The CPU processes all the calculations and all the
data the probe receives. Once this information has been processed, the CPU forms an
image on the monitor. It can also store the data into its memory. Transducer pulse
controls allows the operator of the machine to set and change the frequency and
duration of the ultrasound pulses.
The display or the monitor allows for the data that has been processed by the CPU to
be displayed as an image. Images can be displayed in black and white or in color
depending on the make and model of the
The Victorian Era Essay examples
Pride The Victorian Era is marked by Queen Victoria s reign in England from 1837
1901 (Eras of Elegance). It is known for its attention to high morals, modesty, and
proper decorum, which was inspired by the Queen and her husband, Prince Albert.
Importance was placed on civic consciousness and social responsibility, including
equality towards all. Science, technology and Christianity thrived. Humanitarian and
religious organizations, such as the Salvation Army, reflected the Victorian concern
for the poor and needy. The Church was wealthy and powerful. Only the rich could
afford education, so most were left uneducated, unable to think critically. The people
believed the word of the Bible and that was all that mattered. However,... Show more

Christine Dolen, author of Wilde About Oscar wrote that Wilde delighted in taking
jabs at moral hierocracy in his works (1). Dolen believes Wilde was caught in the
middle of a war between an industrial, religious, moral, Victorian society and an
individualist, social, aesthetic movement. In the short story, The Remarkable Rocket,
a prideful firecracker is very excited to be lit and set off for the King to see. When
he finally gets to shoot off, it is daylight and nobody sees or hears him (Wilde 29).
The Rocket comes from two remarkable parents just like Wilde. He thinks himself
superior. He sets himself apart from the rest of the firecrackers saying, How
fortunate for the King s son that he is to be married on the very day on which I am
to be let off (Wilde 29). Like the character he created, Wilde thought himself
superior. When Wilde travels to America for his plays to be debuted, he was asked
if he has anything to declare. Wilde said the only thing to declare was his genius.
The short story, The Star Child, tells of a beautiful angel like boy whose arrogance
leads him to turn as ugly as his soul is. He must learn to pity others to regain his
beauty. He does learn to love and pity others and lives happily in his kingdom, then
dies because of the trials he faced. The next ruler
Political Socialization Paper
Political socialization the process in which people create and form new ideas that
are mainly about politics and make assumptions about political points in today s
society. This is important because, in reality people are able form ideas about
political standing points, and socialize about them with friends, family members,
professors, and as well as in classes. I personally found that one family members, my
uncle, that always talk about politicshas influenced me to discover more information
towards government perspectives, and economic views. By doing this I can

we do our daily routines. For example in the sociologytextbook there was one

The And Corrupt Organization Act
Under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act (RICO) in a

The Responsibility Of Brutus In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar
As Julius Caesar once said, Men are nearly always willing to believe what they wish.
Brutus proves this by joining the conspiracy to kill Caesar. By joining the
conspirators, Brutus goes against his idea of being honorable. Considering that
Caesar has not done anything wrong to Rome, Brutus and the conspirators still
assume he will become a tyrant. Hence Brutus does not think things through enough
to make his decision.
Brutus did not want to kill Caesar at first, but through the persuasion of Cassius and
the conspirators, he eventually decides to fall into the group s views. Brutus is easily
persuaded by the thoughts of the conspiracy. Consequently, he determines to unite
with the association wanting the death of Caesar quickly. Brutus ... Show more

Brutus only looked at the bad side of Caesar, never looking at his achievements.
Therefore, he was too easily swayed by himself and the conspirators. It was wrong for
Brutus to join the resistance. Though he claims to be honorable, murder is not
honored under any circumstance.
Another reason that is mentioned frequently is how the conspirators believed that
Caesar was very ambitious. If Caesar was ambitious and eager to become crowned,
he would have taken the first opportunity to claim the throne. Instead, Caesar was
offered the crown three times and denied it each time (I,ii,230 233). Although Caesar
denied the crown, Casca still believed that he would have loved to have taken it.
There are many assumptions, but the conspirators never know the true intentions of
Caesar.
In conclusion, Brutus should not have brought himself together with the conspiracy
against Caesar. He should have approached Caesar in an appropriate way and handled
things with him. Instead, Brutus assumed that Caesar would evolve into someone
bad after becoming crowned. The conspirators supposed that Caesar was ambitious
and would take advantage of his rule, without knowing his true intentions. Brutus,
along with the conspirators, were wrong to assassinate
Root Causes Of Suffering In Se7en Film

on scene of the sloth manipulator described as Victor, a drug dealer. To the serial killer
, Victor is the scum of the earth because he feeds off of people with illegal

take a great amount of physical effort to do. It is not only wrong because of the

Environmental Destruction Of Southeast Asia
Environmental Destruction in Southeast Asia
Thesis
For a developing nation, the progression of its economy is crucial and the focus on
the economies of Southeast Asia have taken the region as a whole quite far in a
very impressive time period; however, the region must adapt to the problematic
climate change issues of the world as it is still in its developing stage given that if
the natural resources of the region are used up, there will not be very many sources
to allow the region to sustain its economy upon.
Background information
Essentially all if not, most of the Southeast Asian nations lie amid the tropics, which
inevitably results in similarities in the climate and wildlife through the entire region.
The atmosphere is consistently warm with the exception of highland areas, in which
the climate tends to be cooler. Southeast Asiais home to numerous goods
/commodities that were exclusive to the region, which predictably made the region
as a whole more coveted by traders from across the globe. As mentioned in the book
Southeast Asia (Routledge Revivals): A Region in Transition, things like nutmeg,
mace and cloves were formerly only available in the region of Southeast Asia in the
nation of Maluku and the spice islands of eastern Indonesia. These commodities have
helped the region prosper as a whole, the economy of Southeast Asian nations relies
heavily upon the natural resources of the region. The natural resources have helped
bring millions of people out of poverty,

Alcohol. Its been around for millenniums before jesus and its always going to be
around and most of us can t do anything about it but we can find a way to stop
alcohol from getting stronger. We all know someone or something that has ever
used alcohol either to; have fun, drown the sorrows of the day, or just to fit in.
Every body will encounter alcohol one point or another so might as well know
what the effects of drinking are. All people drink; women, men, teens, and elders.
The point is that alcohol is everywhere and i mean everywhere. It is published by
everyone and everything. It gets published from billboards to commercials,tv
shows, and celebrities . Where the media is trying to sell the young folks, a
lifestyle that they can t afford and which leads to crime to get the money for the
alcohol they want so badly, even some friends will be pulled into it and hurts to see
them go. Because of this we are also get pulled into that way of life, its likely that
you can later abuse drugs(alcoholism about). Drinking is just part of this generation

Our understanding of classical conditioning, operant conditioning, and observational
learning has allowed us to unlock many of the answers we sought to learn about
human behavior. Classical conditioning is a technique of behavioral training, coined
by Ivan Pavlov, which basically states that an organism learns through establishing
associations between different events and stimuli. This helps us understand human
behaviorin an assortment of ways. It makes it clear that almost everything we do is
based on patterns of stimulus and response. For example, if you were bitten
aggressively by a dog as a child, you may be still scared of dogs today. That is
because the dog caused you pain, which in turn caused you have anxiety towards

It is one of the basic aspects of human behavior that drives the conscious mind in its
decisions.
Observational learning is another simple behavioral training technique. It s as
simple as its name, you learn by watching others. For example, let s say you are
trying to learn to balance a book on your head. You ve been watching your parent
do it and you try it out as well by imitating their behaviors that you previously
observed. That s a basic example of learning by observation. This helps us better
understand human behavior in this way: it tells us that humans observe other
behavior and try to imitate it in order to achieve the same, or a similar effect. That is
another basic aspect of human behaviors that also occurs on a daily basis.
Each of these learning theories can be applied to help us form strategies to change or
adapt behavior. Operant conditioning can be used to try and influence behaviors. For
example, teaching someone to clean a window by positively reinforcing them when
they do it correctly and punishing them when they do not. Classical conditioning can
also be applied quite simply. For instance, you can pair pain with cows to teach
someone to always fear cows. Observational learning is also much of the same
thing. If you want someone to learn a new behavior or change a previous one, all
you have to is have them mimic yours. They will
Federal Funding for Public Broadcasting is a Bust Essay
Each year the United States spends .014% of its budget on public broadcasting. This
amounted to approximately $445 million spent on funding towards public
broadcasting in 2012. (Defending Public Broadcasting Should Not Be Done Lightly)
The funding was meant to help public broadcasting stations get to a state where they
could support themselves on their own. However, many stations continued to take the
funding even though they did not require it. Despite this, the stations that abused the
funding happened to have some very educational programs that most stations lacked
which brought the question whether or not they should be punished. But think about
it, is it not bad enough that you re already paying a substantial amount of taxes to help

The funding provided by the federal government was meant to temporarily help
public broadcasting stations until they could become self sustaining, and stations
such as PBS have proven that they are now much more than self sustaining. What
does this mean? It means that we are not just paying taxes to help support stations in
desperate need of the funding; it means that we are helping to pay for some greedy
stations bills due to them being too lazy to pay from their own wallet. This is not
only hurting our budgets, economy, and living conditions at home. This is also
flowing money away from situations that are truly in dire need of the money. These
situations would include community projects, poor hospitals, the homeless and
hungry, disaster victims, and other minor, but significant tragedies.
Some may argue that many stations are innocent and really use federal funding for
its intended purpose, but does that mean that the cost is worth it? More money
would be wasted on selfish penny pinchers over at PBS and other minor stations
than anywhere else. So in the end it really doesn t seem worth it, it s just too big of
a hassle and they can thank PBS for the funding cuts. But let us back track a bit
now, what about broadcasting by radio? Well if you re asking this, then you are
probably not aware that federal funding only provides 5.8% of their
My Room As A Room
This room will always be a part of my life. From the shifts in furniture to the color
of wallpaper, this room will remain unique to my personality as I progress in life.
Many memories have been made throughout my fifteen years of residence in my
house. It all started in the morning with that sweet smell of a home cooked
breakfast alongside my nightstand. I can feel goosebumps beginning to shiver my
skin as the smell of my meal travels through my nose. The light shined bright in the
window while I sat up out of my queen sized bed. I took a few solemn steps with my
plate in hand when suddenly I heard my old floor creaking as I neared my small
desk. I sit down on my chairand flip the switch to my computer. The noise of my
running desktop fans blow emphatically catches my attention and I noticed
something quite off. My computer had a sticky note taped to the back saying, Do
not turn on, proceed with caution . These words started filtering through my eyes
and I knew I would be in for a bad experience. Freaking out seemed to be my only
option, however once I could smell the stench of my computer, turning it off was
all my brain was saying. My mother swiftly entered my room to check on me and
she gave me a frantic look of anger when she saw my fried computer. It was almost
like I had just committed a crime and now she had just witnessed it. Throw it away!
she said, It s useless now . I obeyed her request and proceeded to throw my cheap
desktop in the e waste bin in the

Demand Conditions The demand conditions in South Korea have been
unparalleled in other countries in recent history. In 1963, the per capita Gross
National Product (GNP) was $100. This has grown to $20,000 per capita and
South Korea is now the seventh largest trading partner with the United States
(Background Note: South Korea, 2008). This growth in GNP is staggering
considering that it took the United States 130 years to grow its Gross Domestic
Product ten fold (1870 200) (Barro, 2003). Barro (2003) notes that this growth is
fairly evenly distributed. This distribution of income has remained relatively
unchanged from 1960 to today (Barro, 2003). Life expectancy and infant mortality
indicators have also significantly changed. Life expectancy has increased from 54
years to 73 years and infant mortality has dropped from 8% to 0.8% since 1960
(Barro, 2003). This rapid growth and increase in personal income has led to a
significant growth in internal demand for automobiles. According to a study
conducted by AC Nielson, who developed an Aspiration Index (AI) to measure
current ownership levels and future intentions to buy, over 60% of those surveyed
indicated an intention to buy. This is compared to the same index in the United

The Rocking-Horse Winner Sin
D.H. Lawrence s The Rocking Horse Winner
The Rocking Horse Winner by D.H. Lawrence is a shockingly disturbing tale of
materialism, wealth, and a mother s absent affection for her children. The family in
the story is constantly lured by the sweet temptation of sin. Although the story doesn
t directly speak about religion, it is obvious that the family is Christian from the
references to Christmas (481) and to God (482). In this story, Lawrence depicts
several of the most devious sins of mankind according to religious, particularly
Christian, doctrine: greed, sexual deviance, and gambling. The theme of sin is subtly
interwoven throughout the short tale by the representations and portrayals of these
acts, and Lawrence also makes it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even more, Paul thinks that without her excessive preoccupation with ?more
money?, his mother may have more time to devote to her children, and perhaps be
greedy instead for their attention. It is soon apparent that Paul is incorrect though:
even after he funds his mother with money won from his luck in the horse races, her
hunger for more remains. In fact, ?The voices in the house suddenly went mad, like a
chorus of frogs on a spring evening?, worse now, chiming the motto that ?there must
be more money! ? more than ever!? (488).
In this story the sin of greed leads to the most dangerous consequence of all ? death.
The mad chanting of the house eventually leads Paul himself to become mad, and
right before the most important (and lucrative) horse race, the Derby, Paul?s quest to
satisfy his mother?s greed kills him. Lawrence is showing the most extreme example
of how being overly obsessed with material wealth can cause destructive results; but
greed is merely one of the sins featured in this twisted tale.
Paul?s method of becoming lucky is particularly interesting to the topic of sinful
behavior. His means of discovering the names of the winners of upcoming horse
races is ?a secret within a secret? (489), and indeed Paul doesn?t tell anyone until the
very end, while on his deathbed: ?Paul?s

partially explains their spatial segregation in the intertidal zone. However, the
physiological responses of these two species to salinity, desiccation and ultraviolet

Applied Ecology and Phycology research group at the University of Rostock.
During the research stay we plan to conduct several salinity experiments on Spanish

the quantitative and qualitative determination of organic osmolytes and sunscreen

An Overview of Malaysia s Foreign Policy As an extension of domestic policy,
foreign policy is designed with the purpose in mind of defending and promoting the
country s national security, economic and other vital interests. Despite the diversity
of views regarding the perception and explanation of foreign policy, no foreign policy
can be formulated in a vacuum. It must serve to function in a dynamic environment.
Malaysia s foreign policy is no exception. Various geographical, historical, social and
political determinants contribute to shaping the nature of Malaysia s foreign policy
and the conduct of the country s international relations. Added to this is the external
environment, or what may be termed as the systemic determinant,... Show more

Malaysia in turn becomes the target for being too vocal . But this is something that
we need to take in our own stride if Malaysia is to be proactive at the global level.
As a small developing country player in the international arena, Malaysia needs to
firmly uphold the principles of the UN charter as a defence of last resort. Certain
fundamental principles governing interstate relations would continue to guide
Malaysia s relations with other countries. These refer to sovereign equality and
mutual respect for territorial

integrity, mutual non aggression, non interference in each other s internal affairs,
peaceful settlement of disputes as well as mutual benefit in relations and peaceful
coexistence. These principles have stood the test of time. Indeed, our steadfast
adherence to these principles, supported by a consistent foreign policy, has
established for Malaysia certain credibility in the eyes of the international community.
Malaysia has repeatedly stressed the importance of adhering to the especially
important principle of non interference in internal affairs, particularly in the context
of regional relations. The so called constructive intervention policy advocated by
some, involving loud criticism, adversarial posturing and grand standing would only
bring more harm than good to the promotion of neighbourly relations. We do make
exceptions to the policy of non interference in certain
The Progressive Movement Of The United States
The progressive movement was one of the greatest times in America s history, not
only was the progressive movement noble but also needed especially after the
lasting effects of the Civil War. Although there were many problems still plaguing
the United States the progressive movement provided some Americans with a sense
of hope because of changes in politics. First of all, progressive Presidents like Teddy
Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilsonwould not necessarily fight for their own political
parties, but would fight for the people, reduce the power of big businesses that
exploited their employees and helped small businesses by introducing antitrust
legislation. Women s rights also became a huge issue during the progressive
movement which would be solved by granting women more rights and even giving
Americans the right to directly select senators. Basically the progressive movement
was beneficial to America because it gave more Americans more opportunities, like
being able to vote, being able to make decent wages and small businessto be able to
compete.
There is hardly an office in any part of the country in which the business man has not
been elected; yet politics remain corrupt (Lincoln Steffens, 141). This is what
journalist Lincoln Steffens had portrayed about politics in the United States, that
businessmen ran the country and only cared about money and not the people.
Although America has successful business practices, its ability for almost anyone to

A State Forest Essay
A State Forest
Last autumn, while on a trip, I decided to walk through a State Forest. This huge
forest enriches the countryside not far from town and was a place where indians held
hunting rights until recently. Little streams, ancient trees, shaded paths, and hidden
places are some of the physical attributes which make the State Forest an enchanting
place.
I wandered leisurely along the shadowy paths, enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
With only the songs of birds for company, I felt completely isolated from the crowds
and traffic as I walked over the deep carpet of leaves. It had begun to rain a litt le

down in defeat. The camp wa s a dark, secret place entangled with huge, thorny holly

progressing over man y centuries.
I became more adventurous and made my way to a thickly wooded area of the
forest. The dense growth of silver birch trees and tangled bushes made this part of
the woods appear dark and mysterious. Since snakes are rarely seen in England, I
did not hav e to worry about stState on one. However, I did have to avoid the thorny
branches of the reddish brown hawthorn bushes along the way. I pushed through
the thick brush, disturbing some grey squirrels on my way. I do not think that the
squirrels had see n very many people in that particular place. The silver birch trees
soon thinned out, making room for some magnificent, aged chestnut trees with
their spreading branches. I paused for a while to enjoy looking at the crimson and
golden leaves scattered o ver the forest floor. A pair of red breasted robins flew down
from the branches, walking boldly over the fallen leaves. They did not seem to be
afraid of my uninvited presences.
After my brief rest, I spotted a ridge covered with brilliant purple heather. I

My Goals And Steps For Yourself
Having learned that setting goals and steps for yourself is one of the best and
most efficient ways to reach your goals. A while ago, I decided to set my own
academic, career, and leadership goals. I came up with the best three steps that can
be taken to reach those goals. In addition, I analyzed my strengths that can best
assess me get those steps done. This helped boost my self esteem and motivated
me to reach my goals, because I proved to myself that I already have the strengths
needed to take specific steps that would get me closer to my goals. For my
academic goal, I wanted to earn a GPA of 3.80 or higher by the end of the semester.
The three steps I took to achieve this goal are important. First, I turned in all of my
assignments and studied well for any exams or quizzes. Second, I managed to
study for at least 2 hours for almost everyday of the week. This step not only helped
me get step 1 done, but it also increased my ability to learn more material. Third, I
met with professors about once a week for additional help over course material.
Those steps were very successful at helping me reach my academic goal. I was
able to stay on track with all of my classes, manage enough studying time to to
prepare well for exams and get assignments done on time. Outstandingly, my grades
did go up and are still on the increase. After getting great results, I will definitely
keep doing the steps I have done over the past few weeks to raise my grades even
more. Although all three
Causes Of The Downfall In Macbeth
Macbeth the Pupit
Macbeth headstrong or a spineless man? Three witches told Macbeth he would be
king one day and Banquo s children would be king too. Macbeth gets talked into
killing Duncan by Lady Macbeth. This starts his infatuation with becoming king and
he has everyone in his way killed and goes back to the witches to learn his fate. He
laughs at what they tell him because its very outlandish and because of his arrogance
is ultimately killed. The three witches cause Macbeth s downfall because they had the
most control over his life.
Lady Macbeth has the least control over Macbeth, she has some control but it is
very rare. Lady Macbeth says I laid their daggers ready (Doc C). At which point she
tells Macbeth to kill King Duncan, so Macbeth can become king. Macbeth comes
back some time later and says I have done the deed. Then Lady Macbeth notices
Macbeth still has the daggers, Macbeth says he won t go back so Lady Macbeth
says Give me the daggers. (Doc C). At first Lady Macbeth has control over
Macbeth and gets him to kill Duncan so he can become king, but after killing him
and coming back to her Macbeth still has the daggers and won t take them back
even with her yelling at him. Her control is definitely a factor in Macbeth s actions
but it is not a strong as it seems.
Macbeth has substantially more control over his actions then Lady Macbeth but even
he doesn t have the most control. After the witches tell Macbeth he will be king one
day he says If chance will have

Go Gentle Into That Good Night
For many people, the thought of death is a terrifying concept to fathom. Whether a
beloved family member, pet, or even emotions have died, death in any form continues
to be a challenging subject to communicate about to others. From dances to songs and
from paintings to writings, people express their views on deathin a variety of forms
and fashions. In William Cullen Bryant s Thanatopsis and Dylan Thomas s Do Not
Go Gentle into That Good Night, death exists as the main topic of both poems;
however, Bryant s and Thomas s opinions on death contrast greatly in both works as
a result of each poet s religious beliefs, experiences, family and decisions that

Bryant had held a very close relationship with his beloved sister, Sally, who died
young (Gado 295). His sister meant a lot to him, and her death hurt him deeply. He
had also been affected by the death of both his grandfather, Ebenezer Snell, and a
close family friend, the wife of Jacob Porter. Both died in 1813 (Muller 22). Their
deaths added to the stress of a young man who seemed to keep finding death at his
back door. These individuals also influenced the writing of Thanatopsis. In lines 68
through 72, Bryant points out how the ...maid / [t]he speechless babe, and the gray
headed man / [s]hall one by one be gathered to thy side... (Bryant 2). Here, the
poem presents clear references to the deaths of his sister, his grandfather, and family
friend. He thought so much about them and their importance to him that he just
could not leave them out of the poem. Although the deaths of these significant
figures in Bryant s life caused him some heart ache he did not let that dwindle his
support of death. In lines 31 through 34, Bryant promises that a person would not

Case Study On Omango
Executive Summary
Two Wheeled Omango is a bicycle based courier service in Mumbai, India, catering
to law and justice firms. The Omango can transport documents as well as small
parcels to clients, other law and justice firms, as well as transport and file
documents with the clerk of courts. Law and justice firms will be the primary group
of customers and the only one targeted, non law and justice firm customers will be

The Omango will offer reliability and industry insight to law and justice firms,
enabling it to provide superior service relative to the current service providers. This
will allow the corporation to rapidly gain market share. Profitability will be reached
by month nine, and revenue for year three will be very comfortable. 1.1 Objectives

Reliability is a characteristic that is very important to law and justice firms. The
firms require reliability of delivery. Often the delivery of legal documents is critical.
The Omango achieves reliability through a redundant back up system that always
provides an alternative method of delivery if the specific bicycle messenger
encounters difficulty. By having a back up system, the corporation ensures that even
if the primary messenger fails, there is a back up ready to complete the delivery.
The second competitive advantage is industry insight. It is a true advantage for
Prabhat to have worked as an attorney for several years. This work gave him industry
insight that is not replicable without actually doing the work. The insight is valuable
because Prabhat knows intimately what attorneys need in regards to document
delivery. While other companies will gain some insight by serving the attorney
market over time, it will not compare in breadth to Prabhat s.

Using The Analogy Of K Ж’Г„ Ch ( Glass ) And Ratan (
Gems )
Using the analogy of kДЃch (glass) and ratan (gems, jewels), depicting superficial
esoteric knowledge and true mystical knowledge respectively, the verse expands on
the notion of use of good judgment to distinguish between false spiritual knowledge
and authentic spiritual wisdom, discussed in the preceding two verses. The
procurement of glass, warns the verse, is detrimental to spiritual growth, whereas the
sparkling jewels are conducive to spiritual enlightenment. The opening line points out
the distinction between glass and jewels. The word kas literally means quality figure
of gold or silver as determined by testing on a touchstone , test , criterion . The word
kasatДЃ used in the second line, therefore means through testing . Other related
words, commonly used in the Ginans are kasaṇi (time of test and trial), kasoб№i
(touchstone, test) and kaб№Јhб№ or kaб№Јhб№Д« (toil, suffering, pain). In the
context of this verse, the meaning of the word bhДЃv, used in the second line, is
price , value worth , rate . Thus, the second line states that testing reveals the actual
worth of these two items. In other words, it is through testing that one can
determine which one of the two items is a jewel and which one is glass. Now, an
ordinary person, who has no knowledge of precious gems, might not be able to tell
the difference between the two but a jeweler, with his knowledge and proper
apparatus, can easily tell the difference. Hence, Pir Sadarddin asks in one of Ginans:
Industrialization in India
Need for Trend of Industrialization in India
What is Industry?
In its broadest sense, industry is any work that is undertaken for economic gain and
that promotes employment. The word may be applied to a wide range of activities,
from farming to manufacturing and tourism. It encompasses production at any scale,
from the local sometimes known as cottage industry to the multinational or
transnational.
In a more restricted sense, industry refers to the production of goods, especially when
that production is accomplished with machines. It is this limited definition of
industry that is embodied by the notion of industrialization: the transition to an
economy based on the large scale, machine assisted production of goods by a

Ironically, de industrialization in the three countries mentioned above has been
accompanied by a growth in the high tech industries in areas such as the CГґte d
Azur in France; Silicon Valley in California; and along the M4 motorway, around
Cambridge, and in central Scotland the so called Silicon Glen in the UK. The long
term impact of de industrialization has yet to be felt. It may be the speed of the
process, rather than the process itself, that needs careful management.
Transnational Corporations
Probably the most significant industrial development since the 1960s has been the
rise of the multinational or transnational company. Examples of these companies,
which operate in many countries, are Ford, General Motors, IBM, Siemens, and
Matsushita Electrical. United Nations (UN) estimates that investment by
transnational companies has risen by 13 per cent per year over the last 20 years,
largely because more and more governments are accepting these firms into their
countries.
Nevertheless, the growth of multinational corporations has raised a number of
concerns. An enormous amount of production power is concentrated in the hands of
a few controllers, which means that the countries involved become directly
susceptible to economic changes in other parts of the world. The transfer of assets
from one country to another may be difficult for governments to manage or prevent,
and there are likely to be disparities in the treatment of different countries.

Sophocles The King, Oedipus The King
Sophocles Stage Sophocles plays are among some of the best written performances of
the 5th century, and they have evolved into several modern theatrical productions and
movies. Although not written as part of a trilogy, Sophocles three interconnected
plays focus on the same dysfunctional family: Antigone, OedipusRex (Oedipus the
King) and Oedipus at Colonus. His second play Oedipus the King continues to awe
the audiences today as much as it entertained Sophoclesaudience. There existed then
and now a fascination with this defected group of individuals that others still seek to
transform and capture with their spins and surprises; nevertheless, the innermost
secrets of desire and power and terror remain constant no matter the version.
Recognizing Sophocles distinct style begins with the changes he introduced to the
stage. For instance, he took a cue from Aeschylus contribution to moving away from
the dithyrambs (Ode to Dionysus) and satyr plays (chorus consistent of 50 men
dressed as satyrs) add a secondary actor (the antagonist) and cut the number to the
chorus. Sophocles deviations increased the chorus from 12 to 15 and introduced a
third actor and an emphasis in drama between humans rather than between humans
and gods (Botinelly 7). The addition influenced his rhetoric which allowed the Greek
tragedian the opportunity to exercise stichomythic dialogue efficiently, thus
enhancing the tension in the scenes between Oedipus and Tiresias in Act I and

A multinational organization is a company that has branches all over the world. For

Child Labour In Colombia Essay
The child labour is a serious widespread social problem for the rural and urban
Colombia. There are many reasons why the children in this country are submitted to
work either by their own or an obligation.
Until some years ago, in the rural zone the families were numerous specially to
ensure a cheaper workforce showing a well known growth of the population in these
zones instead of the urban ones where one didn t see this problem and increasing the
incident of poverty. So, the principal reason of child labour in Colombia is that the
children meet forced to help economically their families according to an investigation
of the Dane.
Accessing to education is a challenge for many Colombian children, especially
indigenous and Afro Colombian because is hindered by internal armed conflict,
impassible routes and long distances between the children s homes and the school in
rural areas.
Domestic work is an issue that Colombia began to address relatively in 2014, in
consultation with the ILO. More work is needed to change the cultural belief that
domestic work doesnВґt constitute child labor, a belief that particularly
disadvantages girls, who are the majority of those who labor in the privacy of the
home where child labor is more difficult to detect. Household chores are classified
among the worst forms of child labor (servitude, domestic work), and accidents in the
home are the fourth most common cause of death and injury in Colombia.
This issue affects in diverse ways around the

Dogs, a popular breed of pet and consider Man s best friend, yet some breeds of
dogs improve the magnitude of life by assisting in different areas. Many breed of

functions unique to enhancing the lives of individuals, yet have the validity to work

Community Service Papers
One of the best service projects I did this year was Alter serving. Alter serving is
when a boy or girl usually around elementary through high school age serves a mass
helping the priest with basic things such as holding the book when he reads. There
are also some very tough parts of alter serving, such as getting the incense ready. I
chose Alter serving because not only am I serving the community, but I am serving
Godand the church. This is especially important to me because I am a member of the
Catholic Churchin Saint Mary s. I would like to serve God not only in Alter serving
but in life. The ultimate goal is to get to heaven and service hours can help for
sure, especially when serving God. This particular act of service is easy to me
because it is for God and if you can not round up a couple hours of service for your
community and God then shame on you. I also realize and am appreciative of the
people around me in the church guiding me along the way in Alter serving. Father
Eric especially has helped me in Alter serving and leads by reminding me specific
duties I need to perform while Alter serving.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Believe it or not without Alter servers certain cleansing and certain preparations
can not occur. This helps someone else because it allows the mass to be performed
at its most sacred level. Ultimately this helps more people participate in mass and
become more united with God. In my personal opinion, I think assisting in people
uniting with God certainly improves another person life. Also I am now one of the
older servers and now I lead by example to the younger servers. I know I have given
the younger servers tips on what do and when to do it. This guidance will help them
later in their serving career to guide the younger servers on their own and will lead
to them helping people unite with God. I also believe helping people unite with
Christ has brought me closer to
Epigenetics
ONE of biology s hottest topics is epigenetics. The term itself covers a multitude of
sins. Strictly speaking, it refers to the regulation of gene expression by the chemical
modification of DNA, or of the histone proteins in which DNA is usually wrapped.
This modification is either the addition of methyl groups (a carbon atom and three
hydrogens) to the DNAor of acetyl groups (two carbons, three hydrogens and an
oxygen) to the histones. Methylation switches genes off. Acetylation switches them
on. Since, in a multicellular organism, different cells need different genes to be
active, such regulation is vital.

What has got a lot of people excited, though, is the idea that epigenetic switches
might be transmitted down the generations. Some see this as contrary to
Darwinism, since it would permit characteristics acquired during an organism s
lifetime to be passed on to its offspring, as suggested by a rival theory of evolution
put forward by Jean Baptiste Lamarck. This is an exaggeration. The DNA sequence
itself is not being permanently altered. Even those epigenetic changes that are
inherited seem to be subsequently reversible. But the idea that acquired
characteristics can be inherited at all is still an important and novel one, and a
worrying example of the phenomenon has been published this week in BioMed
Central Medicine.

Polar Bears Research Paper
Summary Polar bears are an important arctic species that are in danger of extinction
because of climate change. Polar bears are known as a keystone species, meaning
they have significant effect on the environment in which they live. As such, keeping
polar bears alive is essential for a balanced ecosystem in the ArcticCircle. One of the
major threats to polar bears is melting sea ice. As the overall temperature of the
earth increases due to global warming and the greenhouse effect, the sea ice that
polar bears live on for most of their lives is melting. Polar bears require sea ice to
survive, as it is their hunting grounds and habitat. When the ice melts, polar bears are
forced to move closer to the pole. Unfortunately, polar bears use northern... Show

The first recommendation was to practice sustainable harvesting on polar bears.
Polar bears are hunted for food, for their fur, for sport, and for traditional practices
by Native people. According to Dr. Steven C. Amstrup, a chief scientist at Polar
Bears International and a USGS polar bear project leader in Alaska, he states that
each native village is allowed to hunt a certain number of polar bears which is
governed by a quota system (Amstrup, n.d.). Polar bear hunting is currently managed
in Greenland, Alaska, and Canada (Sahanatien, et al., 2012, p. 398). Another
recommendation was to educate the natives on polar bears. Since polar bears are
approaching human settlements, educating the humans about polar bears and of their
behavior could reduce the amount of unnecessary killing (O Neill, et al., 2008, p.
1657). Lastly, all experts recommended that polar bears should be monitored and
research should be conducted on polar bear populations in hope to conserve the
species from
Summary Of Descartes On The Mind-Body Distinction
1

Philosophy 3230
Short Paper Assignment
Descartes on the Mind Body Distinction In the Sixth Mediation, Descartes advances
a compact argument for the idea that the mind and the body are distinct (2006, AT
78). In this essay, I m going to present what I take Descartes argument to be, and very
briefly evaluate it afterwards.
Descartes starts with the thought the we can understand, at least, something, and we
can understand something in a specific manner: clearly and distinctly; we can t be
wrong, according to Descartes, about things we understand clearly and distinctly
(Mediation Four, AT 59). Similarly, if we can clearly and distinctly understand a
thing in a way that does not appeal to or depend on another thing, then we can t ...

On the one hand, the body is supposed to be a sort of thing that has extensions: it
has shapes, it has size, it occupies certain spatial position, and it can be in rest or in
motion (AT 43, 78). On the other hand, from previous meditations, Descartes
concludes that I am only a thinking thing from the observation that thinking is what
could survive even if there were an all power deceiving God (AT 27). And here, the I
can be understood in terms of the mind that does not include a corporeal body since
Descartes was meditating as if he didn t even have a body (AT 27). Thus, it seems
that we can understand the mind and the body clearly and distinctly from each other
in that the mind is a thinking thing and not an extended thing, whereas the body an
extended thing and not a thinking thing. In other words,
6. The body and the mind are understood clearly and distinctly in a way that does not
depend on each other.
Once this is secured, by a series of modus ponens, it follows that
7. Therefore, the mind and the body are really distinct.
As far as I m concerned, the logic of the argument looks intact, but I do not find the
second premise very convincing, which says if two things can be separated (in
practice), then they are really distinct. Instead, perhaps in order for two things to be
really distinct, it s not only sufficient (albeit necessary) that they can be separated in
Senior Year Research Paper
Time flies by when you re having fun , I never thought this quote would mean so
much to me until now. This quote was repeated constantly my junior year and now
I realize the true meaning of it. All the years I ve spent in school have led up to
this point, my senior year. As my last year in high school begins, and soon ends, I
have a lot of decisions to make, and goals to set. Keeping high grades, going to
FBLA nationals, and making my teachers proud are a few of my senior goals.
The first on my list of goals during senior year is to keep my grades high. Studying
is not something I love to do but to achieve my goals it has to be done. I have to
push myself to the best of my ability and do the best that I can do on all of my
school work.. I believe that hard work pays off in the end, and my hard work will
definitely pay off at the end of this school year. Another way to keep my grades
high is to ask my teachers for help. If there s a point where I don t understand
something, my teachers can break it down and explain it better. High grades aren t
just a goal for me, but my teachers too because they want me to succeed. My grades
not only reflect upon me, but also my teachers. Each ... Show more content on

I ve only made it to state competition and I m determined to make it to nationals.
With a lot of hard work and studying I may make it. When I study it s best that I
isolate myself to stay focused and learn more. One of the many ways that will help is
taking practice tests online. The test help show my weak spots and what I need to
improve in. Sometimes there s things that a practice test cannot help me understand.
When that time comes I can ask my teacher to help me comprehend it better. By her
breaking down the information, it helps me remember it better and having a better
chance to nationals. Accomplishing my goal of making it to nationals will be
something I remember for the rest of my life, and others will remember
Review of Accounting Ethics Essay
Review of Accounting Ethics
Establishing principles for ethical behavior frequently starts with a policy on ethics.
Businesses acquire a policy on ethics to guide their measures and to set up a general
meaning of correct versus incorrect. According to the American Library Association,
code of ethics is a handbook for suitable behavior (2012).
Given the corporate ethical breaches in recent times, assess whether or not you
believe that the current business and regulatory environment is more conducive to
ethical behavior. Provide support for your answer

Based on your research, describe the organization, the accounting ethical breach and
the impact to the organization related to ethical breach.
Best Buy Chairman and founder Richard Schulze exited Monday after directors
determined he used poor judgment for failing to disclose CEO Brian Dunn s personal
relationship with a young subordinate, a violation of company ethics that led to Dunn
s departure last month. In light of these revelations, Schulze acted inappropriately, by
failing to bring the matter to the company s audit committee. While Best Buy made it
clear that Dunn did not use the company s resources to facilitate his relationship with
the female employee, the internal probe found that Dunn s behavior showed
extremely poor judgment and a lack of professionalism.
Determine how the organizational ethical issue was detected and how management
failed to create an ethical environment.
In April, Dunn abruptly decided to call it quits as the Richfield, Minnesota based
company further investigated his relationship with the subordinate employee. The
internal probe was initiated by the firm s audit committee and completed by an
outside law firm. Dunn is expected to walk away with a severance package worth up
to $6.6 million from the embattled consumer electronics chain. There is still no word
on who will succeed him. Schulze said in a statement that when he questioned Dunn
about his actions, they were denied and now he accepts
New And Destructive Gun
I have read the Tennessean from August 2010. I found some interesting articles
throughout it. I was limitedly interested when I read the main headline, Suffrage
Amendment Adopted by House. Then I went on to reading the article, Weekend Golf
Tourney Honors Vet Ted Rhodes. It caught my attention because my dad is a veteran.
Lastly, I found the article titled, New and Destructive Gun very interesting to read
about. These three articles all hold different historical value. ????
The first one I looked was the Suffrage Amendment Adopted by House. This appeared
in the Nashville Tennessean, August 19, 1920. This article was about giving women

Homeless Essays. My Opinion on Homelessness Free Essay Example

  • 1. Homeless Essays Writing an essay on the topic of homelessness can be a challenging endeavor. This subject is multifaceted, touching on various social, economic, and personal dimensions. Crafting a thoughtful and impactful essay requires a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding homelessness, ranging from the systemic issues that contribute to it to the individual stories of those affected. One of the difficulties lies in striking the right balance between statistical data and personal narratives. It's essential to provide a comprehensive overview of the problem while also humanizing the individuals experiencing homelessness. This necessitates thorough research, including delving into government reports, academic studies, and firsthand accounts. Another challenge is navigating the ethical considerations associated with discussing such a sensitive topic. The portrayal of individuals facing homelessness should be respectful and empathetic, avoiding stereotypes or stigmatization. Additionally, addressing potential solutions and policy implications adds another layer of complexity, requiring a nuanced understanding of social policies and their potential impact. Furthermore, writing on the subject of homelessness involves grappling with the emotional toll it can take. Engaging with stories of struggle, resilience, and despair can be emotionally challenging for the writer. Maintaining objectivity while conveying the human aspect of the issue requires a delicate touch and a keen awareness of one's own biases. In conclusion, tackling an essay on homelessness demands a comprehensive understanding of the issue, a nuanced approach to storytelling, and a deep sense of empathy. It's a task that requires both intellectual rigor and emotional sensitivity to do justice to the gravity of the topic. • 2. The Biographies Of Factory Work In Karen Ho sAn Elephant... We are all factory workers in some sense each and every one of us. As individuals, we each have our unique ambitions, quirks, and moral compasses; however, we coexist together in institutions to create the same products of prejudice, despite our characteristic differences. In one instance, Wall Street and Ivy Leagueuniversities in Karen Ho s The Biographies of Hegemony employ countless undergraduates of various backgrounds to sustain an unhealthy environment of elitism. Similar ethical malpractice also extends to the voracious pharmaceutical companies in Ethan Watters The Mega Marketing of Depression in Japan with various types of researchers and marketing scholars under their umbrella. The hegemony perpetuated by these systems are not just limited to humans, as in Charles Siebert s An ElephantCrackup? the elephant society is severely oppressed by government agencies who acted as a direct consequence to the behaviors of hunters and poachers. In such institutions, there can exist two distinct groups of individuals: those who enter a larger system with the malicious intent to subjugate others, and those who enter with a fervent desire to advance society. Tragically, because institutions are intrinsically materialistic and parochial in nature, both groups of individuals would regardless contribute to a product of inequality and ethical misconduct under these systems of hegemony. Some of these factory workers are well aware of their intentions to discriminate, yet choose to be ignorant of their system s impending product of prejudice. Whether it be pure self indulgence or just plain avarice, these individuals aspire to push their selfish agenda upon others. In An Elephant Crackup? the extent of mindless barbarism against the elephants is recounted, They d just throw hand grenades at the elephants, bring whole families down, and cut out the ivory. I call that mass destruction (Siebert 346). Unfortunately, there will always exist types of individuals who show no regard to life around them. This is a particular instance in which individuals engage in excessive violence merely for the sake of harvesting a resource. In another example of needless cruelty, a belligerent elephant named Topsy would
  • 3. two different countries Essay It is said that technology is turning our world into a global village, and this is true to some extent but even now if we move from one city to another, one can feel the difference in language, culture, life style and many more. In my case I moved thousand of miles from my country, Pakistan. The differences are unimaginable. I was born in a very big house with 5 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, 2 kitchens, big lawns in front and back, servant quarters and couple of servants serving my family. This wasn t like this because we were filthy rich or millionaires. It simply portrays a middle class home in my country. My grandmother was used to wake up before sunrise and opened all the windows and doors for fresh air, and for the voice of rooster. Then... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Education system is still 50 years old; in short it is right when they say Pakistan is one of the developing country. One day my history professor was describing a common households in 18 century, where women use to wash cloths by hands, clean carpets by beating them, cooking everything from scratch, only poor working women and girls from middle class waiting for their charming prince to come and take them to their new houses, and how they stayed all day home doing house chores. It seemed as if he was describing my home in my country. Even though technology is bringing major changes but culture has a powerful influence on our daily life and not very easy for us to let that go. When I moved to New York, it was like moving to an entirely different time. It seemed as I stepped into a time machine and ended up fifty years ahead. I could never imagine this much liberty, freedom and equal rights for women. I realized that we have choices, dreams and can make our own rules to live. Undoable life becomes complicated and tiring, but physical fatigue is worth each and every minute of mental freedom. This whole thing gives prospect to my life. Although I miss my servants a lot but on the other hand house chores aren t that difficult as they are back home. Washing cloths, cooking, cleaning just a couple of buttons on a machine and bingo, done! But still now, I would like to go back and spend my life in my country, and try my best to bring
  • 4. Auto Drivers Research Paper Today, auto technology on sale allows cars to see all around, gathering data on possible roadway concerns and giving driver s eyes in the back of their heads. Since more than 90 percent of crashes involve driver error, automakers created a range of safety systems that aid drivers for brief periods to help avoid accidents. Driver assist systems include lane departure and blind spot warnings, adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, telematics control systems and more. Automobiles have changed a great deal since the invention of the Model T. Cars today look more like something from a science fiction movie rather than a normal car. Even with all of the technological advancements there are still many dangers while driving a car. Human error
  • 5. Small Cap Diaphragm In the recording session, listening to all the tracks, I chose two different microphones from the MXL 800 series the large and the small caps diaphragm. Both microphones were condenser microphones. Listening to both microphones at the track I discovered few interesting facts between them. First, I mange to listen to the smaller cap both on the recorded hammer part of the pianoand the recorded strings and I find that both microphone had different sound. For the small cap that was recorded on the hammer of the piano sound decent yet it sounded little muddy. It sounded like when it had an insert plug in of a chorus or modulation that when the key was stroked the sound was aggressively vibrating, the piano s sustain was little aggressive Picturing if there was a lot of sound waves combined together. Also it sounded as if the piano was played in a small room which the sound sounded much tied. Next, the smaller cap on string recording, sounded much more balanced. It sounded tied yet the every note on the piano sounded realistic. Moreover, the dynamic range was wide enough that it was easy to listen to especially it had good amount of bass and harmonics of the piano. The microphone sound more open rather than narrow sound like the hammered one. On the larger cap diaphragm condenser microphone on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The microphones produced many important elements such as larger diaphragms records more sound of highs and lows yet I learned it has a disadvantage if it records too much sound for example on the strings of the piano, it can sound very muddy and bombarded with different frequencies. Similarly with small caps on hammers can cause trouble when concentrates too much on one area which it becomes a dominant sound overall of the recording. Furthermore, this I came to acknowledge the fact that Microphones compliment the artist when it position
  • 6. Aboriginal Education Is A Subject That Should Be Embedded... Aboriginal education is a subject that should be embedded into curricular activities on a daily basis from the beginning of early childhood. This essay highlights the importance of Aboriginal education from an early age for both Indigenous and non indigenous children in Australia through the discussion of three strategise. These include the use of Aboriginal perspective in the curriculum, Outcomes for Aboriginal children and cultural safety in the early childhoodenvironment. It also evaluates the Early Years Learning Framework and how it reflects the inclusion of Aboriginal individuals, their culture, histories and communities into the learning process. The term Aboriginal perspectives means to include Aboriginal views and understandings of particular themes or issues (State of New South Wales through the NSW Department of Education and Communities, 1999 2011). Educationalists are encouraged to draw upon the local Aboriginal Elders, and community members knowledge when teaching Indigenous topics to gain local perspectives (State of New South Wales through the NSW Department of Education and Communities, 1999 2011). This is essential as the educator must be providing accurate information to the children, and this will vary depending on the location of the centre. Aboriginal perspective can be shared with both Aboriginal and non Aboriginal children, as it is a way of building on exisiting knowledge and enlightening non Aboriginal students to learn local Aboriginal histories (Anderson, 2010). Throughout the Early Years Learning Framework are examples of how to incorporate Abroiginal cultures and perspectives into the learning environment. The document states that It guides educators in their curriculum decision making and assists in planning, implementing and evaluating quality in early childhood settings. It also underpins the implementation of more specific curriculum relevant to each local community and early childhood setting (Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, DEEWR, 2009, page 8). It also values the continuity and richness of local knowledge shared by community
  • 7. Reflection About Groupthink Growing up in a new country can be hard for an elementary school kid, not only do they have to deal with catching up in their studies and adjusting to the new environment but also the social hierarchy of the playground. By applying the symbolic interaction theory, my participation in Groupthink shows just how easy an individual conforms to the norms of the group in order to fit in and how those actions eventually shape that individual closer to their true self (Brym Lie 2017). My experience with groupthink can not be narrowed down to one event. It is more like my whole 4th grade year. In 2007, I had just arrived in Canada from the Philippines. Being a newcomer, I tried my best to fit in, make new friends, and did what any Canadian kids my age did. There was this girl that for some reason everyone avoided. To fit in, my instinct told me to avoid her as well. So, every time she came close I would run away, anything she touched, I would not dare touch, and speaking to her would be the worst possible thing anyone could do. Back then I did not understand why we would do such things. All I knew is that I had to do them to be considered cool . For the better part of my elementary school career I did my best to abide by these unwritten rules, without knowing the real reason as to why they exist in the first place. I remember one afternoon, I met up with my teammates and coach in the girl s classroom. As I sit down at a random desk, my friends thought it would be funny to
  • 8. Abnormal Behavior In Medieval Times For hundreds of years, people have tried to understand the causes and treatments of people who display abnormal behavior. The most popular belief in the Medieval times was the idea that supernatural forces, such as demons and evil spirits, were the cause of people with abnormal behavior (Nevid). Thus, their treatment of this was often brutal, involving trephination and exorcisms. Although this belief was common at the time, the ancient Greeks did not hold to this belief. Hippocrates theorized that abnormal behaviors were due to illness of the body, and that the body s humors determined ones behavior(Nevid). The belief that abnormal behavior is due to illness in the body is most similar to the modern medical model. In the late 15th and early
  • 9. How Does Hamlet React To Uncertainty In William Shakespeare s play, Hamlet , he communicates that people react to certainty and uncertainty in different ways. Not only can it affect the people around them, but it can affect their own lives as well. For some people, the doubt could get to their head and cause an anxious response where it could lead to a destructive path for themselves and can really hurt the people they care about most. This is evident with Hamlet, when his father dies and his ghost tells Hamlet that Claudius was the one who murdered him. Hamlet became uncertain if the ghost was actually his father s or an evil spirit. However, this leads him to find out if Claudius really was the murderer which in turn lead to the death of Polonius and eventually Laertes. While Claudius was fake praying, Hamlet was uncertain if he should killthe new king right there as he thought he may go to hell for killing someone, which eventually stopped him from going through with it. When he went to see his own mother, Polonius was hiding. but when he calls out for help, Hamlet accidentally killed him. After the death of Polonius, Laertes made his way back to get revenge for his father who he thought was killed by the king. During this destructive path, Hamlet had sent a letter to England pretending to be the king to get his two best friends killed after being betrayed by them. Finally, they get to the duel and with uncertaintyagain, kills Laertes with a poisoned rapier before getting justice for Old Hamlet. He

The Burj Al Arab, A Glass And Steel Skyscraper The Burj Al Arab, a glass and steel skyscraper (Ingersoll 2013, 935), was developed during a time period of rapid expansion in the United Arab Emirates, and in Dubai (Bagaeen 2007, 173 197), and was completed in 1999 (Welch 2014) by the Jumeirah International Group, Architect Tom Wright (McBride 2000, 118), and the Atkins Company (Ingersoll 2013, 935). The Burj Khalifais 160 stories or 630 meters tall (Ingersoll 2013, 937). The Burj Khalifa is the tallest artificial structure in the world. It is a mixed use tower that primarily houses office and residential space (Baker 2010, 46), the tip reaches 828 meters (Alfred 2010, 66), and the Burj Khalifa was inaugurated January 4, 2010 (Baker 2010, 46). Like the Burj Al Arab, the Burj Khalifa was designed by a western architect, Adrian Smith, and the architecture firm, Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill (Ingersoll 2013, 937). In this industrial age of mega development, in the nondemocratic United Arab Emirates, mega projects are hastily and irresponsibly built with little consideration of their regional negative impacts or sustainability. In the United Arab Emirates, and in lesser developed countries around the world, their primitive political structures have many holes which are exploited by the few with power. Before finding oil, the United Arab Emirates was a poor nation and their economy relied heavily on fishing and a declining pearl industry (BBC, 2015). After offshore petroleum was discovered in 1966, the oil industry s
  • 11. Joan Of Arc Research Paper I do not fear the soldiers, for my road is made open to me; and if the soldiers come, I have God, my Lord, who will know how to clear the route that leads to messire the Dauphin. It was for this that I was born! These are the words that Joan of Arc, also known as the Maid Of OrlГ©ans exclaimed to a woman while traveling to Chinon to talk to the king to be Charles VII at about 16 years of age. Joan of Arc was born around 1412 in DomrГ©my, northeastern France to a father named Jacques d Arc and Isabelle RomГ©e. Joan was a shepherdess and looked after the sheep, but she preferred household jobs and chores. During this time, the Hundred Years War was raging. In 1415, King Henry V of England invaded northern France. In 1420, the Treaty of Troyes was signed. This treaty was an agreement that King Henry V would inherit the throne of France because of the death of King Charles VI of France. Around this time in 1425, Joan started receiving visions from St. Michael, St. Margaret of Antioch and St. Catherine of Alexandria. The Saints told Joan to assist Charles VII to free France from the English. She was only 13 at the time so Joan just continued praying and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On may 6th, she moved towards another fort of the English. The English instantly abandoned the fort and moved to another area where more English troops were. Joan and a commander La Hire attacked them successfully. After that, Joan and La Hire advanced on another fort and the French troops sustained the attacks until the English were found retreating! • 12. Ultrasound Technology Essay What is Ultrasound? Ultrasound or ultrasonography is a medical imaging technique that uses high frequency sound waves. It is a high pitch frequency that cannot be heard by the human ear. In ultra sound the following happens: High frequency sound pulses (1 5megahertz) are transmitted from the ultrasound machine into your body using a probe. The sound wave will travel into your body until it hits an object such as soft tissue and bone. When the sound wave hits these objects some of the wave will be reflected back to the probe. While some waves may carry on further till they hit another object and then reflected back. The probe picks up these reflected sound waves and relays them to the machine. The distance and time from the probe, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The probe also has an acoustic lens this helps to focus the emitted sound waves. The transducer probe can come in many different shapes and sizes. The field of view depends on the shape of the probe. Also the frequency of the waves emitted determines how deep the sound waves will penetrate and also the resolution of the image that will be produced. Probes can be used to move across the body but they can also be inserted through various openings. E.g. orally, this enables the probe to get closer to object that is being examined. Being closer to the object may allow for more detailed views. The central processing unit is basically the brains behind the ultrasound machine. It is a computer that sends the electric current to the probe to tell it to emit the sound waves. It also receives the electrical pulses from the probe which received the sound waves that were reflected back. The CPU processes all the calculations and all the data the probe receives. Once this information has been processed, the CPU forms an image on the monitor. It can also store the data into its memory. Transducer pulse controls allows the operator of the machine to set and change the frequency and duration of the ultrasound pulses. The display or the monitor allows for the data that has been processed by the CPU to be displayed as an image. Images can be displayed in black and white or in color depending on the make and model of the
  • 13. The Victorian Era Essay examples Pride The Victorian Era is marked by Queen Victoria s reign in England from 1837 1901 (Eras of Elegance). It is known for its attention to high morals, modesty, and proper decorum, which was inspired by the Queen and her husband, Prince Albert. Importance was placed on civic consciousness and social responsibility, including equality towards all. Science, technology and Christianity thrived. Humanitarian and religious organizations, such as the Salvation Army, reflected the Victorian concern for the poor and needy. The Church was wealthy and powerful. Only the rich could afford education, so most were left uneducated, unable to think critically. The people believed the word of the Bible and that was all that mattered. However,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Christine Dolen, author of Wilde About Oscar wrote that Wilde delighted in taking jabs at moral hierocracy in his works (1). Dolen believes Wilde was caught in the middle of a war between an industrial, religious, moral, Victorian society and an individualist, social, aesthetic movement. In the short story, The Remarkable Rocket, a prideful firecracker is very excited to be lit and set off for the King to see. When he finally gets to shoot off, it is daylight and nobody sees or hears him (Wilde 29). The Rocket comes from two remarkable parents just like Wilde. He thinks himself superior. He sets himself apart from the rest of the firecrackers saying, How fortunate for the King s son that he is to be married on the very day on which I am to be let off (Wilde 29). Like the character he created, Wilde thought himself superior. When Wilde travels to America for his plays to be debuted, he was asked if he has anything to declare. Wilde said the only thing to declare was his genius. The short story, The Star Child, tells of a beautiful angel like boy whose arrogance leads him to turn as ugly as his soul is. He must learn to pity others to regain his beauty. He does learn to love and pity others and lives happily in his kingdom, then dies because of the trials he faced. The next ruler

Political Socialization Paper Political socialization the process in which people create and form new ideas that are mainly about politics and make assumptions about political points in today s society. This is important because, in reality people are able form ideas about political standing points, and socialize about them with friends, family members, professors, and as well as in classes. I personally found that one family members, my uncle, that always talk about politicshas influenced me to discover more information towards government perspectives, and economic views. By doing this I can understand what in today s society is happening because why wouldn t you want to know what going on because changes that the government makes can impact the way we do our daily routines. • 16. The Responsibility Of Brutus In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar As Julius Caesar once said, Men are nearly always willing to believe what they wish. Brutus proves this by joining the conspiracy to kill Caesar. By joining the conspirators, Brutus goes against his idea of being honorable. Considering that Caesar has not done anything wrong to Rome, Brutus and the conspirators still assume he will become a tyrant. Hence Brutus does not think things through enough to make his decision. Brutus did not want to kill Caesar at first, but through the persuasion of Cassius and the conspirators, he eventually decides to fall into the group s views. Brutus is easily persuaded by the thoughts of the conspiracy. Consequently, he determines to unite with the association wanting the death of Caesar quickly. Brutus ... It was wrong for Brutus to join the resistance. Though he claims to be honorable, murder is not honored under any circumstance. Another reason that is mentioned frequently is how the conspirators believed that Caesar was very ambitious. If Caesar was ambitious and eager to become crowned, he would have taken the first opportunity to claim the throne. Instead, Caesar was offered the crown three times and denied it each time (I,ii,230 233). Although Caesar denied the crown, Casca still believed that he would have loved to have taken it. There are many assumptions, but the conspirators never know the true intentions of Caesar. In conclusion, Brutus should not have brought himself together with the conspiracy against Caesar. He should have approached Caesar in an appropriate way and handled things with him. Instead, Brutus assumed that Caesar would evolve into someone bad after becoming crowned. The conspirators supposed that Caesar was ambitious and would take advantage of his rule, without knowing his true intentions. Brutus, along with the conspirators, were wrong to assassinate

Written in large letters of blood on the carpet read, greed. Next, police arrive on scene of the sloth manipulator described as Victor, a drug dealer. To the serial killer , Victor is the scum of the earth because he feeds off of people with illegal addictions. Victor s income is counted on by the selling of drugs which does not take a great amount of physical effort to do. It is not only wrong because of the illegal activities involved, but also because of the lack of positive contribution to society. Upon arriving at the fourth crime scene the first thing that the detectives saw walking up was Lust carved into the door that lead to the victim s body. During interrogation by the detectives, the man found at the crime scene explained how the prostitute died. He said when he walked into the prostitute s room, the killer asked him if he was married and he said yes. The killer then made the prostitute sit on the bed while he held a gun to the man s head and forced him to put on the deadly strap on which contained a harmful weapon on the end. The
  • 18. Environmental Destruction Of Southeast Asia Environmental Destruction in Southeast Asia Thesis For a developing nation, the progression of its economy is crucial and the focus on the economies of Southeast Asia have taken the region as a whole quite far in a very impressive time period; however, the region must adapt to the problematic climate change issues of the world as it is still in its developing stage given that if the natural resources of the region are used up, there will not be very many sources to allow the region to sustain its economy upon. Background information Essentially all if not, most of the Southeast Asian nations lie amid the tropics, which inevitably results in similarities in the climate and wildlife through the entire region. The atmosphere is consistently warm with the exception of highland areas, in which the climate tends to be cooler. Southeast Asiais home to numerous goods /commodities that were exclusive to the region, which predictably made the region as a whole more coveted by traders from across the globe. As mentioned in the book Southeast Asia (Routledge Revivals): A Region in Transition, things like nutmeg, mace and cloves were formerly only available in the region of Southeast Asia in the nation of Maluku and the spice islands of eastern Indonesia. These commodities have helped the region prosper as a whole, the economy of Southeast Asian nations relies heavily upon the natural resources of the region. Its been around for millenniums before jesus and its always going to be around and most of us can t do anything about it but we can find a way to stop alcohol from getting stronger. We all know someone or something that has ever used alcohol either to; have fun, drown the sorrows of the day, or just to fit in. Every body will encounter alcohol one point or another so might as well know what the effects of drinking are. All people drink; women, men, teens, and elders. The point is that alcohol is everywhere and i mean everywhere. It is published by everyone and everything. It gets published from billboards to commercials,tv shows, and celebrities . Where the media is trying to sell the young folks, a lifestyle that they can t afford and which leads to crime to get the money for the alcohol they want so badly, even some friends will be pulled into it and hurts to see them go. Because of this we are also get pulled into that way of life, its likely that you can later abuse drugs(alcoholism about). Drinking is just part of this generation and no one knows when It will stop. • 21. Classical Conditioning, Operant Conditioning, and... Our understanding of classical conditioning, operant conditioning, and observational learning has allowed us to unlock many of the answers we sought to learn about human behavior. Classical conditioning is a technique of behavioral training, coined by Ivan Pavlov, which basically states that an organism learns through establishing associations between different events and stimuli. This helps us understand human behaviorin an assortment of ways. It makes it clear that almost everything we do is based on patterns of stimulus and response. For example, if you were bitten aggressively by a dog as a child, you may be still scared of dogs today. That is because the dog caused you pain, which in turn caused you have anxiety towards dogs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is one of the basic aspects of human behavior that drives the conscious mind in its decisions. Observational learning is another simple behavioral training technique. It s as simple as its name, you learn by watching others. For example, let s say you are trying to learn to balance a book on your head. You ve been watching your parent do it and you try it out as well by imitating their behaviors that you previously observed. That s a basic example of learning by observation. This helps us better understand human behavior in this way: it tells us that humans observe other behavior and try to imitate it in order to achieve the same, or a similar effect. That is another basic aspect of human behaviors that also occurs on a daily basis. Each of these learning theories can be applied to help us form strategies to change or adapt behavior. Operant conditioning can be used to try and influence behaviors. For example, teaching someone to clean a window by positively reinforcing them when they do it correctly and punishing them when they do not. Classical conditioning can also be applied quite simply. For instance, you can pair pain with cows to teach someone to always fear cows. Observational learning is also much of the same thing. If you want someone to learn a new behavior or change a previous one, all you have to is have them mimic yours. They will
  • 22. Federal Funding for Public Broadcasting is a Bust Essay Each year the United States spends .014% of its budget on public broadcasting. This amounted to approximately $445 million spent on funding towards public broadcasting in 2012. (Defending Public Broadcasting Should Not Be Done Lightly) The funding was meant to help public broadcasting stations get to a state where they could support themselves on their own. However, many stations continued to take the funding even though they did not require it. Despite this, the stations that abused the funding happened to have some very educational programs that most stations lacked which brought the question whether or not they should be punished. But think about it, is it not bad enough that you re already paying a substantial amount of taxes to help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The funding provided by the federal government was meant to temporarily help public broadcasting stations until they could become self sustaining, and stations such as PBS have proven that they are now much more than self sustaining. What does this mean? It means that we are not just paying taxes to help support stations in desperate need of the funding; it means that we are helping to pay for some greedy stations bills due to them being too lazy to pay from their own wallet. This is not only hurting our budgets, economy, and living conditions at home. This is also flowing money away from situations that are truly in dire need of the money. These situations would include community projects, poor hospitals, the homeless and hungry, disaster victims, and other minor, but significant tragedies. Some may argue that many stations are innocent and really use federal funding for its intended purpose, but does that mean that the cost is worth it? More money would be wasted on selfish penny pinchers over at PBS and other minor stations than anywhere else. So in the end it really doesn t seem worth it, it s just too big of a hassle and they can thank PBS for the funding cuts. But let us back track a bit now, what about broadcasting by radio? Well if you re asking this, then you are probably not aware that federal funding only provides 5.8% of their

I can feel goosebumps beginning to shiver my skin as the smell of my meal travels through my nose. The light shined bright in the window while I sat up out of my queen sized bed. I took a few solemn steps with my plate in hand when suddenly I heard my old floor creaking as I neared my small desk. I sit down on my chairand flip the switch to my computer. The noise of my running desktop fans blow emphatically catches my attention and I noticed something quite off. My computer had a sticky note taped to the back saying, Do not turn on, proceed with caution . These words started filtering through my eyes and I knew I would be in for a bad experience. Freaking out seemed to be my only option, however once I could smell the stench of my computer, turning it off was all my brain was saying. My mother swiftly entered my room to check on me and she gave me a frantic look of anger when she saw my fried computer. It was almost like I had just committed a crime and now she had just witnessed it. Throw it away! she said, It s useless now . This has grown to $20,000 per capita and South Korea is now the seventh largest trading partner with the United States (Background Note: South Korea, 2008). This growth in GNP is staggering considering that it took the United States 130 years to grow its Gross Domestic Product ten fold (1870 200) (Barro, 2003). Barro (2003) notes that this growth is fairly evenly distributed. This distribution of income has remained relatively unchanged from 1960 to today (Barro, 2003). Life expectancy and infant mortality indicators have also significantly changed. Life expectancy has increased from 54 years to 73 years and infant mortality has dropped from 8% to 0.8% since 1960 (Barro, 2003). Lawrence is a shockingly disturbing tale of materialism, wealth, and a mother s absent affection for her children. The family in the story is constantly lured by the sweet temptation of sin. Although the story doesn t directly speak about religion, it is obvious that the family is Christian from the references to Christmas (481) and to God (482). In this story, Lawrence depicts several of the most devious sins of mankind according to religious, particularly Christian, doctrine: greed, sexual deviance, and gambling. Even more, Paul thinks that without her excessive preoccupation with ?more money?, his mother may have more time to devote to her children, and perhaps be greedy instead for their attention. It is soon apparent that Paul is incorrect though: even after he funds his mother with money won from his luck in the horse races, her hunger for more remains. In fact, ?The voices in the house suddenly went mad, like a chorus of frogs on a spring evening?, worse now, chiming the motto that ?there must be more money! ? more than ever!? (488). In this story the sin of greed leads to the most dangerous consequence of all ? death. The mad chanting of the house eventually leads Paul himself to become mad, and right before the most important (and lucrative) horse race, the Derby, Paul?s quest to satisfy his mother?s greed kills him. Lawrence is showing the most extreme example of how being overly obsessed with material wealth can cause destructive results; but greed is merely one of the sins featured in this twisted tale. Paul?s method of becoming lucky is particularly interesting to the topic of sinful behavior. His means of discovering the names of the winners of upcoming horse races is ?a secret within a secret? (489), and indeed Paul doesn?t tell anyone until the very end, while on his deathbed: ?Paul?s

Certain fundamental principles governing interstate relations would continue to guide Malaysia s relations with other countries. These refer to sovereign equality and mutual respect for territorial 2 integrity, mutual non aggression, non interference in each other s internal affairs, peaceful settlement of disputes as well as mutual benefit in relations and peaceful coexistence. Malaysia has repeatedly stressed the importance of adhering to the especially important principle of non interference in internal affairs, particularly in the context of regional relations. The Progressive Movement Of The United States The progressive movement was one of the greatest times in America s history, not only was the progressive movement noble but also needed especially after the lasting effects of the Civil War. Although there were many problems still plaguing the United States the progressive movement provided some Americans with a sense of hope because of changes in politics. First of all, progressive Presidents like Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilsonwould not necessarily fight for their own political parties, but would fight for the people, reduce the power of big businesses that exploited their employees and helped small businesses by introducing antitrust legislation. Women s rights also became a huge issue during the progressive movement which would be solved by granting women more rights and even giving Americans the right to directly select senators. Basically the progressive movement was beneficial to America because it gave more Americans more opportunities, like being able to vote, being able to make decent wages and small businessto be able to compete. There is hardly an office in any part of the country in which the business man has not been elected; yet politics remain corrupt (Lincoln Steffens, 141). It is a true advantage for Prabhat to have worked as an attorney for several years. This work gave him industry insight that is not replicable without actually doing the work. The insight is valuable because Prabhat knows intimately what attorneys need in regards to document delivery. While other companies will gain some insight by serving the attorney market over time, it will not compare in breadth to Prabhat s. 5.2 Sales

Using The Analogy Of K Ж’Г„ Ch ( Glass ) And Ratan ( Gems ) Using the analogy of kДЃch (glass) and ratan (gems, jewels), depicting superficial esoteric knowledge and true mystical knowledge respectively, the verse expands on the notion of use of good judgment to distinguish between false spiritual knowledge and authentic spiritual wisdom, discussed in the preceding two verses. The procurement of glass, warns the verse, is detrimental to spiritual growth, whereas the sparkling jewels are conducive to spiritual enlightenment. The opening line points out the distinction between glass and jewels. The word kas literally means quality figure of gold or silver as determined by testing on a touchstone , test , criterion . The word kasatДЃ used in the second line, therefore means through testing . Other related words, commonly used in the Ginans are kasaṇi (time of test and trial), kasoб№i (touchstone, test) and kaб№Јhб№ or kaб№Јhб№Д« (toil, suffering, pain). In the context of this verse, the meaning of the word bhДЃv, used in the second line, is price , value worth , rate . Thus, the second line states that testing reveals the actual worth of these two items. In other words, it is through testing that one can determine which one of the two items is a jewel and which one is glass. Now, an ordinary person, who has no knowledge of precious gems, might not be able to tell the difference between the two but a jeweler, with his knowledge and proper apparatus, can easily tell the difference. Hence, Pir Sadarddin asks in one of Ginans:
  • 39. Industrialization in India Need for Trend of Industrialization in India What is Industry? In its broadest sense, industry is any work that is undertaken for economic gain and that promotes employment. The word may be applied to a wide range of activities, from farming to manufacturing and tourism. It encompasses production at any scale, from the local sometimes known as cottage industry to the multinational or transnational. In a more restricted sense, industry refers to the production of goods, especially when that production is accomplished with machines. It is this limited definition of industry that is embodied by the notion of industrialization: the transition to an economy based on the large scale, machine assisted production of goods by a concentrated, ... Ironically, de industrialization in the three countries mentioned above has been accompanied by a growth in the high tech industries in areas such as the CГґte d Azur in France; Silicon Valley in California; and along the M4 motorway, around Cambridge, and in central Scotland the so called Silicon Glen in the UK. The long term impact of de industrialization has yet to be felt. It may be the speed of the process, rather than the process itself, that needs careful management. Transnational Corporations Probably the most significant industrial development since the 1960s has been the rise of the multinational or transnational company. Examples of these companies, which operate in many countries, are Ford, General Motors, IBM, Siemens, and Matsushita Electrical. United Nations (UN) estimates that investment by transnational companies has risen by 13 per cent per year over the last 20 years, largely because more and more governments are accepting these firms into their countries. Nevertheless, the growth of multinational corporations has raised a number of concerns. An enormous amount of production power is concentrated in the hands of a few controllers, which means that the countries involved become directly susceptible to economic changes in other parts of the world. The transfer of assets from one country to another may be difficult for governments to manage or prevent, and there are likely to be disparities in the treatment of different countries. Manufacturing

Sophocles The King, Oedipus The King Sophocles Stage Sophocles plays are among some of the best written performances of the 5th century, and they have evolved into several modern theatrical productions and movies. Although not written as part of a trilogy, Sophocles three interconnected plays focus on the same dysfunctional family: Antigone, OedipusRex (Oedipus the King) and Oedipus at Colonus. His second play Oedipus the King continues to awe the audiences today as much as it entertained Sophoclesaudience. There existed then and now a fascination with this defected group of individuals that others still seek to transform and capture with their spins and surprises; nevertheless, the innermost secrets of desire and power and terror remain constant no matter the version. Recognizing Sophocles distinct style begins with the changes he introduced to the stage. For instance, he took a cue from Aeschylus contribution to moving away from the dithyrambs (Ode to Dionysus) and satyr plays (chorus consistent of 50 men dressed as satyrs) add a secondary actor (the antagonist) and cut the number to the chorus. Sophocles deviations increased the chorus from 12 to 15 and introduced a third actor and an emphasis in drama between humans rather than between humans and gods (Botinelly 7). The addition influenced his rhetoric which allowed the Greek tragedian the opportunity to exercise stichomythic dialogue efficiently, thus enhancing the tension in the scenes between Oedipus and Tiresias in Act I and Oedipus

  • 44. Community Service Papers One of the best service projects I did this year was Alter serving. Alter serving is when a boy or girl usually around elementary through high school age serves a mass helping the priest with basic things such as holding the book when he reads. There are also some very tough parts of alter serving, such as getting the incense ready. I chose Alter serving because not only am I serving the community, but I am serving Godand the church. This is especially important to me because I am a member of the Catholic Churchin Saint Mary s. I would like to serve God not only in Alter serving but in life. The ultimate goal is to get to heaven and service hours can help for sure, especially when serving God. This particular act of service is easy to me because it is for God and if you can not round up a couple hours of service for your community and God then shame on you. I also realize and am appreciative of the people around me in the church guiding me along the way in Alter serving. Father Eric especially has helped me in Alter serving and leads by reminding me specific duties I need to perform while Alter serving.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also I am now one of the older servers and now I lead by example to the younger servers. I know I have given the younger servers tips on what do and when to do it. This guidance will help them later in their serving career to guide the younger servers on their own and will lead to them helping people unite with God. I also believe helping people unite with Christ has brought me closer to

Some see this as contrary to Darwinism, since it would permit characteristics acquired during an organism s lifetime to be passed on to its offspring, as suggested by a rival theory of evolution put forward by Jean Baptiste Lamarck. This is an exaggeration. The DNA sequence itself is not being permanently altered. Even those epigenetic changes that are inherited seem to be subsequently reversible. But the idea that acquired characteristics can be inherited at all is still an important and novel one, and a worrying example of the phenomenon has been published this week in BioMed Central Medicine. Polar bears are known as a keystone species, meaning they have significant effect on the environment in which they live. As such, keeping polar bears alive is essential for a balanced ecosystem in the ArcticCircle. One of the major threats to polar bears is melting sea ice. As the overall temperature of the earth increases due to global warming and the greenhouse effect, the sea ice that polar bears live on for most of their lives is melting. Summary Of Descartes On The Mind-Body Distinction 1 Zhiyuan Li Philosophy 3230 Short Paper Assignment Descartes on the Mind Body Distinction In the Sixth Mediation, Descartes advances a compact argument for the idea that the mind and the body are distinct (2006, AT 78). In this essay, I m going to present what I take Descartes argument to be, and very briefly evaluate it afterwards. Descartes starts with the thought the we can understand, at least, something, and we can understand something in a specific manner: clearly and distinctly; we can t be wrong, according to Descartes, about things we understand clearly and distinctly (Mediation Four, AT 59). Similarly, if we can clearly and distinctly understand a thing in a way that does not appeal to or depend on another thing, then we can t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the one hand, the body is supposed to be a sort of thing that has extensions: it has shapes, it has size, it occupies certain spatial position, and it can be in rest or in motion (AT 43, 78). On the other hand, from previous meditations, Descartes concludes that I am only a thinking thing from the observation that thinking is what could survive even if there were an all power deceiving God (AT 27). And here, the I can be understood in terms of the mind that does not include a corporeal body since Descartes was meditating as if he didn t even have a body (AT 27). Thus, it seems that we can understand the mind and the body clearly and distinctly from each other in that the mind is a thinking thing and not an extended thing, whereas the body an extended thing and not a thinking thing. In other words, 6. The body and the mind are understood clearly and distinctly in a way that does not depend on each other. Once this is secured, by a series of modus ponens, it follows that 7. Therefore, the mind and the body are really distinct. As far as I m concerned, the logic of the argument looks intact, but I do not find the second premise very convincing, which says if two things can be separated (in practice), then they are really distinct. Instead, perhaps in order for two things to be really distinct, it s not only sufficient (albeit necessary) that they can be separated in
