War On Terrorism And Terrorism
War on Terrorism The most current and imminent threat to the future of the United States is foreign
terrorism, which occurs primarily outside the US territory, due to the increasing development in
weapons of mass destruction. Although, the US in the last two decades has seen an increase of terrible
acts of terrorism here in own country. These foreign and domestic entities utilize intimidation and
violence for their political gain or religious beliefs, by instilling fear in innocent lives. Terrorists also
utilize suicide bombing and cyber attacks in their trail of torment. The United States is a target of
these acts due to our magnitude and authority, and it is imperative that our Nations security is vigilant
and constantly prepared at a moment s notice to maintain our safety. Prior to September 11, 2001,
terrorist activity produced a wave of attacks on the United States marine barracks in Lebanon in 1983,
the World Trade Center in 1993, American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998, and the USS
Cole in 2000 (397). Assassinating important individuals or small number of people was the focus of
early terroristic attacks. On September 11, 2001, the World Trade Center towers in New York buckled
after they were hit by an al Qaeda organization that seized the airplanes. Osama bin Laden, was the
leader of the militant Islamic terrorist group that lead the attacks. The group proceeded with one plane
that crashed into the Pentagon near Washington, D. C., and a fourth

Hysterical Women In A Streetcar Named Desire
Tennessee Williams once said that, Every artist has a basic premise pervading his whole life, and that
premise can provide the impulse to everything he creates. For me the dominating premise has been the
need for understanding and tenderness and fortitude among individuals trapped by circumstance.
Williams is an individual trapped by circumstance who gained inspiration for many of the characters
in A Streetcar Named Desire from his own life. The play consists of a dysfunctional bunch of
characters: a hysterical woman, a ditzy wife, and an aggressive husband, each with a connection to
Williams s personal life.
The protagonist Blanche DuBois; otherwise labeled as the hysterical women, is the embodiment of
Tennessee Williams in A Streetcar Named ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Williams, taking on facets of Blanch, has related other characters to her in order to mimic the personal
relationships in his life.
Stanley Kowalski, the aggressive husband, represents all the men who have mistreated Tennessee in
his life, especially one in particular: his father. Stanley is boisterous and abusive. Williams s father
loved poker and drinking and his life at the International Shoe Company but not, Williams felt, his
doubly strange, gay writer son, (Today in Lit). Stanley s personality could not be more different than
Blanche s; in the same way Williams personality contradicts his father s.
Stella, Stanley s wife, isn t the sharpest tool in the shed. She is fairly ignorant to her situation, and to
the situations of those around her. In the story Stella doesn t create her own thoughts, she simply
follows and obeys others. At the end of A Streetcar Named Desire Blanche is sexually assaulted by
Stanley while Stella is waiting to deliver her baby at the hospital. Blanche, being the protective and
caring sister that she is, tells Stella the truth, but doesn t get the reaction she expects. Instead Stella
says, I couldn t believe her story and go on living with Stanley, (Williams 165), and kicks Blanche to
the curb, sending her to a mental hospital. Stella embodies the judgement Tennessee received in the
past, as she represents the ignorant and unaccepting society that he lived

Why College Is Right For Everyone
Several ponder if college is right for everyone. Stephanie Owen, a senior research assistant at
Brookings Center on Children and Families at the time of the report s publication and she currently
serves as a research associate at the Urban Institute, and Isabel Sawhill, a co director of the Center on
Children and Families and a senior fellow in economic studies at Brookings, wrote an essay called
Should Everyone Go to College?, that gives insight on if college is right for every person. While they
show reason why college can be a smart investment, they also acknowledge that it is not for all. They
also bring attention to the fact that an enormous deal of thought needs to be put into attending to
college or not and all the questions that come after that decision. They also mention that it is common
knowledge that this topic is highly debated. Should Everyone Go to College? provides an affective
argument that features both sides of the debate. Sawhill and Owen achieve this by utilizing logos
(mostly) and pathos and ethos. Using a factual appeal along with emotional and ethical appeals
typically impacts the reader in at least one way. In Should Everyone Go to College? Owen and
Sawhill primarily use logos, or a factual appeal. Facts and statics cannot be argued but to a certain
extent. For instance, this, The best studies suggest that the return to an additional year of school is

Tax Exemptions in America
Decades ago, state and federal legislatures began offering tax exemptions, including exemptions from
property tax, for nonprofit institutions that provide charitable services to communities. Nonprofit
hospitals that qualify for federal tax exemption under Internal Revenue Code §501(c)(3) are not
guaranteed state charitable tax exemptions. A hospital must provide some amount of charity in order
to be granted a state tax exemption, however historical statues have failed to quantify what amount of
charity is sufficient to meet the charitable purpose exemption . In recent times, nonprofit hospitals
repeatedly have to defend the amount of charity and benefit they provide to the community to
maintain their state property tax exempt status. There has been a recent, notable case where a hospital
lost its property tax exemption. In the case of Provena Covenant Medical Center V. Illinois
Department of Revenue, the Illinois Supreme Court held that PCMC does not provide enough charity
care to qualify for tax exemptions provided for nonprofit organizations that provide charity care .
Nonprofit hospitals are among the largest landowners in many communities, in the US, billions of
dollars in property is owned by nonprofit hospitals . Most hospitals would owe millions in taxes if
exempt properties were taxed. This report will examine the Illinois Supreme court decision in Provena
Covenant Medical Center v. Illinois Department of Revenue, Case No. 107328, and analyze the courts

Essay On Gentrification Of Venice
This paper assesses the evolution and impact of gentrification on a beautiful beachside neighborhood
known as Venice over the past two decades. Due to the fact that I ve spent a fairly good amount of my
time throughout Venice, I have a great sense of the community and the culture. But this community
had gone through a lot, one being gentrification. Before gentrification, Venice had a very natural
society, accepting everyone for who they are. Venice was and frankly still is a beautiful place to go for
a jog or hang out with friends on the beach. However, the cost to live there has soared through the
roof. Merely renting an office in Venice has doubled since 2011 with the average cost of renting a two
bed room apartment falling slightly north of five thousand dollars (Dave). Gentrification happened in
Venice ultimately very quickly, causing rapid change in the culture and the overall lifestyle of its long
term residents. Venice, some consider, is the nicest area in Los Angeles, due to its ethnic community
and splendid attractions. Venice was discovered by Abbot Kinney, a tobacco millionaire, around 1905
(Hormann). It was originally made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However it has been largely affected by gentrification, especially Oakwood. Gentrification greatly
affected Oakwood towards the end of the 20th century. Even though the neighborhood is essentially
African American and Latino populated, it is still somewhat in inconsistency. According to Los
Angeles City Beat, In Venice, the transformation is ... obvious. Homes are fetching sometimes more
than $1 million, and homies are being displaced every day. (Romero) When wealthier whites started to
move into the area, long term residents started to perceive that there was a sense of non racial
integration in the neighborhood due to reconstruction of former homes and having built long fences
and walls surrounding their

How Did Classical Rome Influence The Development Of...
There were several influences the art and architecture of classical Rome had upon the development of
Christian art and architecture. According to Wikipedia (2018), early Christianity used the same media
as the surrounding pagan culture. Artistic media such as fresco sculpture and mosaic were used. Early
Christian art used Romans forms and styles too, for example, the late classical style where that which
had a portrayal of human body and one which presented space its impression (Wikipedia, 2018). It is
also noted that late early Christian frescos had some earliest Christians art such as those in Catacombs
of Rome. The Christian and Churches were firmly introduced in 313 after the victory of Constantine
who issued the Edict of Milan, allowing religious toleration (Khan Academy, 2018). Though it was not

We also see that though most of the temples ere pagan temples, and remained in use for that purpose
until the 6th to 7th centuries when they were converted into churches. Just as I earlier said, that
Constantine was more related to this Christianity in Rome, we find that a familiar conventional
architecture was built, the basilica. This though was a church, it was more similar like former public
basilicas that served as courts and for other public purposes. The other development was on styles of
basilica which had a dome. In classical era of Rome, architecture temples were built in honour of their
gods, for example pantheon of Rome was for the gods of all Romans. In the similar fashion, it
influenced Christian architecture where martyrium was erected often over the burial on a martyr,
though these were small. It noted too that they were changed into churches or chapels in larger
churches erected adjoining or making extension to them (Wikipedia,

Business Control Mechanisms
Control Mechanisms
Control mechanisms are ways for businesses to have measures of control over their business
environment. Controls are implemented in organizations to give guidance and keep the organization
focused. McDonald s, one of the most successful fast food organizations in the world uses multiple
control mechanisms to ensure the individual success of their franchise restaurants. Some of the
controls that McDonald s uses include bureaucratic, market, product, and architectural control. The
implementation of these controls has both positive and negative effects on the organization.
Bureaucratic control is a system by which management uses rules and regulations to control
performance. Some of the things that can be controlled in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The positive reactions of the controls from corporate are having control, consistency, and location,
location, location. Because of the research corporate does, which they do a lot of there is a better
chance of success for each restaurant. The reason for this is that what the Corporation looks for is the
location which will end up making it right from the beginning. For the franchisee the positive aspect is
that corporate has done all the homework. By them doing their homework it has benefited them every
time. They do not have to worry about the quality of supplies, or about the shipping process. The
reason for this is that again all the work has been done for them. Being a franchisee owner has its
benefits because they end up just walking in and running the business, but it also has its negatives, the
franchisee needs to do the hiring and training that need to be done. Also they are at the mercy of the
corporation looking at all the things that the franchisee owner is doing, in other words the feeling that
big brother is watching over your shoulder. Also as a franchisee they tend to ignore many of the
suggestions that are given by the corporation which sometimes gets them in a bit of trouble.
Control mechanisms indeed give organizations measures of positive control over processes,
employees, and, hopefully, outcome. On the other hand, control mechanisms also have affects on

The Benefits Of Renewable Energy
Ever since the late 19th century, people have been trying to perfect energy sources to make their lives
easier. An ideal Energy source is one that costs little to produce, little to maintain, and yields a high
energy output. We found a temporary resource that we used for over a century, coal and natural gases.
The problem with sources like these are that they will eventually run out. Renewable energy is energy
that can be produced without depletion. Human have been using a form of renewable energy for
hundreds of years, such as the watermill. Renewable energy is needed because it will never run out, it
is more efficient than today s methods, and it does not pollute the environment with greenhouse gases
such as carbon dioxide. Renewable energy has many benefits such as the unlimited supply of it.
Renewable energy comes in many forms such as solar, hydropower, and wind power. Each source can
never run out unlike the main suppliers of today will eventually run out. In a high population country
like America, you can bet that a good form of transportation is needed. In America, the main source of
transportation is cars but planes, trains and boats also largely contribute to CO2
Emissions. The average American uses approximately 23.4 barrels of oil a year. This plus the amount
of people living in the U.S. equates to 20.7 million barrels each day. This leads to the U.S. importing
2/3rds of its oil from other countries. Since 1999, the oil in these countries have depleted

What I Save Money While Doing Laundry Essay
With three kids under 10 in the house, and a husband who works two jobs, laundry is an never ending,
on going chore. Every time I turn around I think the laundry has doubled. This is especially true in the
summertime when the kids go out to the pool a few hundred times a day. While laundry can be a
daunting task, it can also be a costly task. Here are a few ways I save money while doing laundry: 1. I
buy name brand detergent that is on sale and I have a coupon for it. It is my personal opinion from my
own observation that the cheaper stuff just doesn t do as good of a job as the name brand stuff. By
checking the sales ads I can usually find Wisk, Gain, or even Tide on sale. CVS usually runs Buy One
Get One Free sales on these items. I use two coupons and get a great deal. I try to never spend more
than $2.50 per bottle or box for name brand detergent. 2. Use the cap or the scoop that comes with the
detergent appropriately. Notice that there are littles lines or notches on the cup or scoop with a
number. These lines indicate the load size of the laundry you are doing. For many, many people they
just assume that 1 load= 1 full cup of detergent. Use the appropriate amount of soap per load, don t
just dump a full cup in there blindly. 3. I actually use 1/2 of the recommended amount from the
detergent cup. If I have a small load, I fill up the cup 1/2 of the way to line 1. If I have a medium load,
I fill up to the 1 line. I never, ever use more than 1/2 of the cup for even

World War I Dbq Essay
Despite being one of the largest and most detrimental wars in Europe s history, World War I was
started by the action of one single person. In June of 1914, the Archduke of Austria Hungary was
assassinated by a Serbian assassin while visiting Serbia. After this, there was tension when Serbia
refused to Austria Hungary apologize for the killing of their Archduke. This continued to escalate until
Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia. Following this, war broke out between countries all around
Europe, leading to World War I. Although, the war would not have grown as large as it did if it weren t
for a few factors that allowed the spark of the assassination of the Archduke of Austria Hungary
Hungary to ignite an entire fire. Many countries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If it weren t for these, the war would not have gotten as substantial as it did. Document A shows that in
1914, the Triple Entente was made up of France, the United Kingdom, and Russia, while Germany,
Austria Hungary Hungary, and Italy made up the Triple Alliance. After Austria Hungary declared war
on Serbia, Russia declared war on Austria Hungary as they were not allies. This led to Germany (ally
of Austria Hungary), to declare war on Russia. This pattern continued until war had broke out
throughout Europe. Allies of countries continued to join the war, causing it to become as big as it did.
Document B shows a cartoon by an (unbiased) American just a week after World War I officially
started. It shows the various alliances that have formed and were pointing at the same countries, as if
blaming them. This demonstrates that alliances were a huge part of the war because they were the
reason that so many countries and therefore people were involved with the war. In conclusion, if it
weren t for the alliances formed by the countries in Europe, the war would not have become World
War I, and would not be as significant as it became in

Beloved Jungle Imagery
In Toni Morrison s Beloved, Stamp Paid considers the impact of slavery on all of those involved. He
uses references to an untamed jungle in order to convey the concept spreading corruption. Morrison
utilizes threatening diction through jungle imagery in order to establish a theme of corruption caused
through slavery.
Morrison uses jungle imagery to represent the spreading corruption from slavery. When addressing the
jungle that white people think lives within their slaves, Stamp Paid describes it as Swift unnavigable
waters, winging screaming baboons, sleeping snakes, red gums read for their sweet white blood .
Here, Morrison uses the wild jungle imagery to display the unkempt and untamable demeanor of the
corruption that is associated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Stamp Paid discusses the effects of the jungle/slavery on white people he states, Touched them
every one . Here, a syntax is utilized that eliminates the subject of the sentence that is performing the
action of touching . The elimination of the subject within this syntax acts to convey the jungle/slavery
as threatening due to its vagueness, as it is not even given a title within the sentence. The perceived
threat of the unnamed subject in conjunction with the intrusive diction of the verb that it is enacting,
touching , acts to emphasize the invasive nature of the threat of the jungle/slavery on white people.
Stamp Paid utilizes the same syntax when further discussing its impact on white people: Changed and
altered them . The syntax here eliminates the subject as well, providing the same sense of a threat due
to the vague address of it. This syntax with the further threatening diction of changed and altered
being performed by the unnamed subject causes it to be further seem as a threat. The unnamed subject
is in reference to slavery, thus, Morrison utilizes syntax in this manner in order to further emphasize
the theme of corruption through slavery, as it expresses that slavery is invasive for the white people
and, in turn, causes them to become

Essay on Elitism in American Politics
Elitism is the belief or philosophy that a particular group of persons with exceptional abilities,
specialized training or experience, wealth, or other unique characteristics, are the people whose
interpretations on different matters are to be taken most seriously. More simply, some believe these
people are best fit to administer or whose understandings or actions are mostly likely to be beneficial
and profitable. Otherwise, the term elitism could be used to pronounce a condition in which power is
in fact focused in the hands of an elite, whether rightly or wrong.

This group of elites can efficiently order the goals for all or nearly all significant government policy
making. They may also lead the actions of educational organizations and mass media in today s
society. Their power can easily be seen by their financial resources and also on their rankings among
the top of the big corporations, and believe it or not, it does not depend on whether or not they can
gain large amounts of support through labors to embody interests and the good of social groups in the
United States. The elitist theorists and a large portion of Americans believe, that this country cannot be
run by powerless masses of average voters to chose a leader well fit to lead our nations in the right
direction.
Many Americans believe that the United States government is untouchable by the everyday citizen,
and in many ways this is very true. Yet a democracy depends for its very livelihood on expressive
contacts between the people and the government. For example, campaigns and elections focus on
citizens and remind them that they have ultimate power, the vote. The campaigns of recent years are
increasingly extravagant and much longer than those of the past. Costing millions upon millions of
dollars, enticing the attention of the public anyway imaginable. With all of the expense and glamour,
the course of electing government officials offers peoples with important information concerning
matters and candidates credentials for office. Interest groups

Persuasive Essay On Political Advertising
Political ads can be viewed as annoying, excessive, biased, and unnecessary. This opinion is shared
among many people within America with many wanting all ads to stop entirely. Now, are these ads
truly needed or are they just to make a candidate look good? Certain strategies used in political
campaigns can be confusing and frustrating. However, they can also help bring people together to
discuss their opinions and beliefs in order to decide who to support. Political ads can encourage people
to come together because of a common cause, improving our nation, and who is the best candidate for
President. Political signs and commercials are one tactic that can be misleading. Many people feel that
candidates use bandwagons and endorsements to help them look good and promise immediate changes
which are either not possible or can take a long time to achieve. This is like with Mondale Ferraro,
who made many different types of images to make him look more popular (Document A). However,
these images also help people decide who would be better for the job based off of looks, beliefs, and
other attributes. I would use these to help make myself stand out from the other candidates by putting
in true aspects into my campaign so they do not put false hope into what I stand for. This also helps
decide what issues the public focuses on the most based on their beliefs. The candidates running for
President try to get rid of the issues the public are concerned about to encourage the public to vote for
them. Bandwagons use well known and respected groups of people to influence the public to vote for
a candidate because they are doing it. This can be done with several methods, like endorsement,
glittering generalities, and even using a spoil system to intrigue people into electing them. This is like
the Reagan TV ad where he tried to improve his image with the actions he had promised, which
spread with the public (Document B). In addition, it helps clarify what people want most out of a
candidate for their benefit, as well as their own benefits. I would use bandwagons, because it helps get
other people s attention and make myself popular to others. But these methods can help a candidate
who already has a lot of public support. This

Fear Loathing in Las Vegas; Film Analysis
Kimba K Cine 105 Tues/ Thurs 6:00 p.m. Fear Loathing in Las Vegas/ Film Analysis August 14, 2011
In the film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Johnny Depp delivered an over the top performance with
his depiction of Hunter S. Thompson, the notoriously wild and drug addicted father of gonzo
journalism. His acting is considered believable as Depp applied a variety of techniques to accurately
portray this author. Depp used facial expressions to convey the roller coaster of tumultuous emotion in
which Thompson openly existed. Throughout the film, Depp applied many exaggerated facial
expressions; opening his eyes widely, or squinting, and shooting quick darting glances about, each
time clutching a cigarette holder in his teeth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He alludes to the fact that he should have as well, and further ruminates on his past. The audience is
offered an accompanying montage of hippies frolicking and Thompson s version of being alive and
there in that corner of the world, during better times. Thompson states We were doing what was right,
and we were winning. The romanticized image is next shattered when he awakens with a Z on his
forehead in a trashed hotel room with Gonzo missing. These narrated thoughts continue to portray
Thompson as introspective when he leaves Vegas in pursuit of Baker. His constant state of paranoia
prevents him from reading the telegram, and without Gonzo to stabilize him, he runs literally away.
His narration at this point in the film allows for a critical analysis of the life of the character himself.
He stammers, The weasels are closing in, waves of paranoia, intolerable vibrations in this place,
madness while begging the lord for a few more hours to get out. This shows the anxious state of the
character and speaks of his inability to behave this manner without the support system of Gonzo to
hold him up. As Gonzo is his attorney, he is privy to the truth of Thompson s shortcomings and aids in
steering him back on track when deemed necessary. Without Gonzo there to do so, he becomes self
critical of his situation and destructive behavior and examines his lost

Peacekeeping An Effective Method Of Conflict Intervention...
While peacekeeping has become a mainstay of the United Nations collaboration in international
affairs, it is evident that peacekeeping no longer espouses the ideals it was create with. Peacekeeping
has devolved into ineffective barbarisms. This is evident in the sexual abuses perpetrated by
peacekeepers, the growing complexity of peacekeeping mandates, which is at times in conflict with
United Nations principles, and the lack of legal institutions surrounding peacekeeping, which validates
a belief of impunity. However, peacekeeping is not to be totally derided as, in certain situations, it can
be effective at limiting civilian deaths. Furthermore, peacekeeping can be made effective if several
reforms are enacted. These include an effective legal order, an understanding of local culture, and
developing strong relationships within the jurisdiction of the operation. These changes could make
peacekeeping an effective method of conflict intervention.
Peacekeepers have committed various sexual crimes against local populations whilst under the
purview of the United Nations, yet few of these peacekeepers have ever been prosecuted for their
crimes. The international community became aware of the damaging deficiencies of peacekeeping
during the decade leading up to the twenty first century (Wills 2013, 49; Odello and Burke 2016, 839).
Additionally, despite being aware of the sexual crimes being committed by peacekeepers, very little

Lord Of The Flies Teamwork Vs Independence Essay
I believe that being in a group is much more beneficial than being independent. Throughout the book
lord of the flies there are two tribes who represent teamwork versus independence. There is Ralph s
tribe who are democratic and work as a group for survival. Then on the other side there is Jacks tribe
where everyone is free to do whatever they want. The definition of teamwork is The process of
working collaboratively with a group of people in order to achieve a goal . This ties in perfectly with
the novel because Ralph s tribe is working together and sharing ideas to achieve their goal of getting
rescued. There are three reasons why I believe working in a group is better than being independent.
The first reason is that two heads are always better than one. The second is that teamwork allows
people to accomplish projects and goals which are difficult to do alone. My final reason is that
teamwork builds morale.

Analysis Of Nine Beginnings By Margaret Atwood
Why does someone write? What makes authors that we enjoy to read, feel inspired to sit in a deep,
state of self reflection. As they ignore others around them, and focus on their own imaginations in
monomaniac fashion ? Margaret Atwood s Nine Beginnings, attempts to answer the broad question of,
Why do you write? This is an essay where the author is having a conversation with herself and
contemplating her thoughts about writing. Atwood acknowledges that writing is a process that is never
ending, and a person needs self confidence of their ability to write, in order to be a proficient writer.
Margaret Atwood also believes that multiple accounts of failure are important for any writer. A person
learns from their mistakes and the writer s voice comes out more authentic to who the person is due to
adversity. Writing is a selfish act. The first goal for writing is to better yourself, the writer who is
wrestling with their emotions, life and thoughts. Reading and writing are dependent on each other.
Writers are inspired by what they have read, and they think of their own lives and build upon their
influences. Every writer must read, in order to gain knowledge of what is inspirational for themselves
and others, You learn to write by reading and writing,, writing and reading. As a craft it s acquired
through the apprentice system, but you choose your own teachers. Sometimes they re alive, sometimes
they are dead, (Atwood, Pg.201). This statement is well

New Historicism Criticism of Brave New World and Invisible Man. Literature is often influenced by
the political, social, and cultural elements of that time period. A Brave New World and Invisible Man
were affected by different political and social factors that were going on during the author s lives.
These factors include lust, advancement of technology, and racism. Aldous Huxley was a British
writer and philosopher born in Godalming, England on July 26, 1894 and wrote the famed book Brave
New World. This author lived through the time period in which Henry Ford helped expand
manufacturing and new ideas were being made. These ideas and goods were quickly made in mass
quantity and made steady progress. This caused Huxley to incorporate a rather extreme viewpoint of
his cultural life; however, Ralph Ellison did not take the experience of his life to extremes. Ralph
Ellison was born in Oklahoma City, OK in March 1, 1914; he was an American novelist, literary critic,
and scholar; he was best known for his novel Invisible Man. Throughout Ellison s life he was treated
and viewed differently because he was African American and not Caucasian this caused for the main
character in his book to be treated and acted upon differently. Ralph Ellison was an African male born

Queen Bee Classifications
The Queen Bee and Her Court
Classification is the action or process of classifying something according to shared qualities or
characteristics. In The Queen Bee and Her Court Rosalind Wiseman talked about classifying high
school cliques. These classifications are: The Queen Bee, Sidekick, Banker, Floater, Torn Bystander,
Pleaser/Wannabe/Messenger, and Target. The Queen Bee is the ringleader of this clique. She is the one
who tells everyone what to do and she is not intimidated by anyone. The Sidekick is a pushover. The
Banker is extremely secretive. The Floater spends time with any and everyone in the school. The Torn
Bystander is not good at saying no to her friends. The Pleaser/Wannabe/Messenger is the person who
has all of the gossip.
My classifications on people are both negative and positive. My negative classifications are: all
caucasians are snobby, rich, and selfish, all blonde women are dumb, and only anorexic women can

conversation that is interrupted by the battle between Annie and Helen symbolic? Explain its
relationship to the long, dialogue free section of this act during which Annie and Helen struggle

Answer: This was symbolic because all the other characters wanted Annie to stop and just let Helen
get what she wanted but Annie was persistent. This was I think one of the best parts in the book just
because of how persistent Annie is. After the long battle between the two Annie had gotten Helen to
eat her own food off of a plate and also fold her own napkin. All the characters were also thinking
about sending Annie home until after this when Helen ran outside a complete mess and reached for her
mother like she was a savior, and then found out that Annie had gotten Helen to eat her own food off
of a plate and also fold her own napkin. After this the whole family and workers were completely
awestruck, I thought this was very symbolic.

Essay on Juvenile Death Penalty
A 16 year old boy is at the peak of their adolescent life, learning and discovering about puberty,
maturity, right and wrong and future life goals. On the other hand, a man of 25 has matured, lived long
enough to have made both good and bad judgments and has already been in the process of achieving
those life goals they once thought of as a teenager. In a given situation, is it ethical to hold these two
age groups, with mentalities that are worlds apart, to the same standards and punishments in the
justice system? Until Roper v. Simmons in 2005, the justice system did just that, treat the actions of 16

Is it then ethical to sentence a person with undeveloped reasoning and thinking skills to the death
penalty if they cannot fully comprehend the consequences of their actions? If adolescents are being
considered to have diminished reasoning and thinking skills, how then do they compare the mentally
ill? Do the same standards apply? If so, then the case of Atkins v. Virginia, in which it was declared by
the U.S. Supreme Court that the mentally handicapped would not be sentenced to the death penalty,
would be essential to the cause opposing juvenile death penalty. It is not denied that these juveniles
have committed horrendous crimes and should be held accountable for their actions, but certain
mitigating circumstances negate the need for a death penalty.
In the United Sates, the first juvenile death penalty recorded occurred in 1642 of a minor under the age
of 18 and the youngest person ever given the death penalty was ten year old James Arcene in 1885 for
robbery and murder (Strater, 1994 1995). By 1994 there were only 9 states, among which were New
Jersey, Kansas, and Maryland, that prohibited the death penalties for juveniles. In 2003 the number of
states permitting capital punishment declined to 21, a number of them allowing this punishment to
those as young as 16 (Steinberg Scott, 2003). Since the days of the first juvenile execution
approximately 362 more juveniles have been

Electric Potential Lab

Date: Electric Field and Electric Potential
Abstract
The purpose of this lab exercise was to map out electric potential (v) around electrodes in a water
bath. This was done by measuring the voltage drop between one fixed location and a large number of
various locations in the water. Afterwards, the associated field was calculated. The electric field
strength E, was calculated from a map of the electric potentials by taking the potential difference
between two closely spaced points on either side of the point of interest and dividing it by the distance
between two closely spaced points.
Experimental Procedure: This experiment was accomplished in two parts. In part ... Show more

From the data recorded, the equipotential lines did not cross each other since each of the equipotential
line was assigned a specific value of electric field. From this experiment, it is evident that the RMS
voltage inside the ring decreased with an increase in distance of separation. This suggests that, the
electric field inside the ring was not the same in all points. It was also noted from the graphs that the
proportionality that existed between the electric field, E, and 1/r was consistent with the linear
dependence of electric potential with ln (r) since both of them increased with an increase in electric
field. In addition, both were characterized by a positive gradient. Similarly, the electric field lines
drawn were perpendicular to the equipotential lines, the reason being that the electric potential is
equivalent to the electric field multiplied by the distance. The two point probe was used to measure the
electric field in this lab since it is capable of measuring low frequency electric fields. As a result, the
measurements were considered accurate. The difference in the calculated value of the charge per unit
length λ, for both the graphs of 1n(r) versus voltage and the graph of 1/r versus the electric field, was
small (insignificant), i.e. 0.04592 and 0.03287 respectively. Further, the percentage

The Father Of The World Wide Web
The father of the World Wide Web, Tim Berners Lee, having recognized that the internet contains
millions of items and each item needed to be uniquely identified, in1994, developed and implemented
the idea for addressing each resource on the internet. He called these addresses as Uniform Resource
Identifier which were later renamed as Uniform Resource Locator.
URL is an acronym for Uniform Resource Locator. It is the global address of resources and files on
the World Wide Web. Just like a postal address enables mails to reach its destination, a URL allows
the web browser to find a specific web page or file across the internet. For example, the URL for SJU
s library homepage is http://www.sju.edu/campus life/library . A URL should be unique. It is a vital
network identification for any resources like hypertext pages, images or sound files, connected to the
web. It can make or break the website.
The basic components of a URL makes it easier to identify from where the web page originates and
who is responsible for the information on the page. Every URL has basic parts; the Protocol, the
server name, the path, the query and the parameter. The protocol identifies the method through which
the resource is transmitted on the internet. It is a set of rules a web server and a browser use to connect
and comprehend each other. The most commonly used protocol is http which stands for Hypertext
Transfer Protocol. The server name generally recognizes which organization, office or

My Writing Quality
The idea of being a technical writer has caught my attention since early childhood. Writers are diligent
workers that write to inform, entertain, or persuade people about their business. These workers must
work even harder to achieve master s degrees and writing experience even before they become a

workplaces vary, as do job opportunities and disadvantages. This career fits me because I am

There are many interesting and specific features writing carries. Writers often write manuals. They

Early Reading Response Essay
difficult for children who have not been exposed to verbal language in their earliest years. In addition
to this, phonics would be inaccessible to children who may be deaf and according to the current policy
in place and their cure for all , there would be no real means of a different technique provided for them
to suit their individualised needs (Davis, 2014; Bousted,2006). Furthermore, children who do not have
additional needs may find phonics difficult due to all children being different as well as their learning
needs too (Stuart, 2005; Clark 2013). Thus, how will early reading be achieved successfully here for
children with additional needs and/ or different learning needs? Especially since, at the heart of the

In the Faust legend, a man by the name of Faust or Faustus sells his soul to the devil for twenty four
years of ultimate worldly power. Although the tale of this German scholar/ magician called Johann
Faust or Faustus has been re told many times over, no version has become more prominent and
controversial in English literature and history than that of Christopher Marlowe s play first published
eleven years after his death in 1604. Marlowe s reworking is possibly the first dramatization of the

Marlowe used many conventions of the medieval morality play, a popular form which uses a variety
of allegory and narrates the gradual education of its hero into an understanding of the difference
between essentially right and wrong. He modified this traditional form for Doctor Faustus and fitted it
to the legend where conventionally the hero invariably comes to the conclusion of the play a wiser and
better man, but due to the satanic nature of Faustus s rebellion he inevitably falls to his doom and is
dragged screaming to Hell. But what were his motivations for such a seditious rebellion with
inevitably disastrous consequences? Was he just bored and wanted more of a challenge so cast aside
any previous knowledge of religious consequences when intellectual and supernatural supremacy is
used for bad and not for good? The Chorus provide us with a clear synopsis of a few but compact lines

the nation of Mexico. Modern Mexican icons, such as the Virgin of Guadalupe, have foundations in
Post Conquest New Spain s plight in forming an identity separate from that of Spain. In James
Cordova s Colonial Rhetorics, a chapter within The Art of Professing in Bourbon Mexico, Cordova
asserts a similar notion. This chapter argues that local emblems, such as the Virgin of Guadalupe and
the crowned nuns, were manipulated to articulate integral portions of New Spain s identity in the
eighteenth century. This paper summarizes this chapter s three subheadings: European Images of the
Americas, Local American Emblems, and New Spanish Patriotism ... Show more content on

The extent of Cordova s debriefing on the intersection of gender with the aforementioned themes is in
relation to the hagiographers preference in imagery of the penitent and discalced nuns over imagery of
the crowned nuns. The reason being that the crowned nuns threatened the Counter Reformation efforts
of orthodoxy and had the power to ... threaten male ecclesiastical power if left unchecked (Cordova
164). However, what Cordova fails to note in both the popularization of imagery like the Virgin of
Guadalupe and the crowned nuns, is the significance in their depiction as not only females idols, but
chaste female idols. Their chastity is an integral characteristic of their being and womanhood, which is
reflective of the Enlightenment era s emphasis on creating defined gender roles, pushing beyond the
mere difference in genitalia to describe anatomical depth. The female gender was subsequently
subscribed to the importance of their modesty and chastity. Therefore, the aggrandization of female
religious icons is not just symptomatic of the plight of New Spain to develop a unique and respected
identity, but is also in direct relation to the enforcement of strict gender conformant. These two

Dickens A Christmas Carol and the Industrial Revolution
Besides being the secular story of Christmas time in an
urban setting, A Christmas Carol, tells the sacred story of
Christmas as well. With A Christmas Carol, Dickens initiated an
ongoing creative process in the Anglo American imagination. As a
result of the Industrial Revolution and the growth and
development of cities people s lives changed drastically as they
moved from the life and traditions of the country into those of the
city. As industrialization continued, for many people in the city
living and working conditions worsened. As reports of horrible
working conditions increased so did the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While some argue that Dickens was prompted by the plight
of the poor to write a story bringing some of the traditional
Christmas spirit to the city using a secular story, there is clear
evidence that Dickens looked to religious beliefs and Christian
values as a way to keep Christmas sacred and also as a way to
respond to the problems society was facing. In particular, the time
Scrooge spends with the Ghost of Christmas Future shows how
Dickens asserts various Christian values. Just as Jesus speaks of
welcoming and caring for children as a way of honoring God,
Dickens story suggests the same moral and Christian value; in this
case the caring for Tiny Tim and his poor family as a way of
honoring God. A more symbolic lesson can be seen by
comparing Tiny Tim s grave with Scrooge s. When Bob Cratchit

Soccer s Lack of Success in the U.S. Essay
Soccer s Lack of Success in the U.S.
Soccer, or football, which the rest of the world outside of the United States calls it, is surely the most
popular sport in the world. Every four years, the world championships of soccer, the World Cup, is
watched by literally billions all over the world, beating out the Untied States professional football s
Super Bowl by far. It is estimated that 1.7 billion television viewers watched the World Cup final
between France and Brazil in July of 1998. And it is also a genuine world championship, involving
teams from 32 countries in the final rounds, unlike America s baseball World Series that involves only
the United States. But although soccer has become an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anyone who has attended a live football game knows how commercial time outs slow the game and
sometimes, at its most exciting moments, disrupt the flow of events. There is no doubt that without
television definitely would not stay the same in the homes and hearts of Americans. Also, without the
money from advertising, the teams couldn t afford the sky high salaries of their superstars.
Soccer, on the other hand, except for its halftime break, has no time outs and is constant run, run, run,
back and forth, relentlessly, with only a few seconds of relaxation when a goal is scored, and that
happens two or 3 times in a normal game, sometimes never scoring in a game. The best that
commercial television can hope for is an injury timeout and that is only when a player is very
seriously injured.
Another reason is Americans love their violence, and soccer doesn t have the violence that American
football and soccer have. There is some violence, yes, but Americans can t expect the the bone
crushing hits in football, and the knockout punch fights in hockey, game after game. In soccer, players
are actually singled out and warned with embarrassing yellow cards for acts of violence

  • 2. War On Terrorism And Terrorism War on Terrorism The most current and imminent threat to the future of the United States is foreign terrorism, which occurs primarily outside the US territory, due to the increasing development in weapons of mass destruction. Although, the US in the last two decades has seen an increase of terrible acts of terrorism here in own country. These foreign and domestic entities utilize intimidation and violence for their political gain or religious beliefs, by instilling fear in innocent lives. Terrorists also utilize suicide bombing and cyber attacks in their trail of torment. The United States is a target of these acts due to our magnitude and authority, and it is imperative that our Nations security is vigilant and constantly prepared at a moment s notice to maintain our safety. Prior to September 11, 2001, terrorist activity produced a wave of attacks on the United States marine barracks in Lebanon in 1983, the World Trade Center in 1993, American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998, and the USS Cole in 2000 (397). Assassinating important individuals or small number of people was the focus of early terroristic attacks. On September 11, 2001, the World Trade Center towers in New York buckled after they were hit by an al Qaeda organization that seized the airplanes. Hysterical Women In A Streetcar Named Desire Tennessee Williams once said that, Every artist has a basic premise pervading his whole life, and that premise can provide the impulse to everything he creates. For me the dominating premise has been the need for understanding and tenderness and fortitude among individuals trapped by circumstance. Williams is an individual trapped by circumstance who gained inspiration for many of the characters in A Streetcar Named Desire from his own life. The play consists of a dysfunctional bunch of characters: a hysterical woman, a ditzy wife, and an aggressive husband, each with a connection to Williams s personal life. Williams s father loved poker and drinking and his life at the International Shoe Company but not, Williams felt, his doubly strange, gay writer son, (Today in Lit). Stanley s personality could not be more different than Blanche s; in the same way Williams personality contradicts his father s. Stella, Stanley s wife, isn t the sharpest tool in the shed. She is fairly ignorant to her situation, and to the situations of those around her. In the story Stella doesn t create her own thoughts, she simply follows and obeys others. At the end of A Streetcar Named Desire Blanche is sexually assaulted by Stanley while Stella is waiting to deliver her baby at the hospital. Blanche, being the protective and caring sister that she is, tells Stella the truth, but doesn t get the reaction she expects. Instead Stella says, I couldn t believe her story and go on living with Stanley, (Williams 165), and kicks Blanche to the curb, sending her to a mental hospital. Stephanie Owen, a senior research assistant at Brookings Center on Children and Families at the time of the report s publication and she currently serves as a research associate at the Urban Institute, and Isabel Sawhill, a co director of the Center on Children and Families and a senior fellow in economic studies at Brookings, wrote an essay called Should Everyone Go to College?, that gives insight on if college is right for every person. While they show reason why college can be a smart investment, they also acknowledge that it is not for all. They also bring attention to the fact that an enormous deal of thought needs to be put into attending to college or not and all the questions that come after that decision. They also mention that it is common knowledge that this topic is highly debated. Should Everyone Go to College? provides an affective argument that features both sides of the debate. Sawhill and Owen achieve this by utilizing logos (mostly) and pathos and ethos. Using a factual appeal along with emotional and ethical appeals typically impacts the reader in at least one way. In Should Everyone Go to College? Owen and Sawhill primarily use logos, or a factual appeal. Facts and statics cannot be argued but to a certain extent. Tax Exemptions in America Decades ago, state and federal legislatures began offering tax exemptions, including exemptions from property tax, for nonprofit institutions that provide charitable services to communities. Nonprofit hospitals that qualify for federal tax exemption under Internal Revenue Code §501(c)(3) are not guaranteed state charitable tax exemptions. A hospital must provide some amount of charity in order to be granted a state tax exemption, however historical statues have failed to quantify what amount of charity is sufficient to meet the charitable purpose exemption . In recent times, nonprofit hospitals repeatedly have to defend the amount of charity and benefit they provide to the community to maintain their state property tax exempt status. There has been a recent, notable case where a hospital lost its property tax exemption. In the case of Provena Covenant Medical Center V. Illinois Department of Revenue, the Illinois Supreme Court held that PCMC does not provide enough charity care to qualify for tax exemptions provided for nonprofit organizations that provide charity care . Nonprofit hospitals are among the largest landowners in many communities, in the US, billions of dollars in property is owned by nonprofit hospitals . • 6. Essay On Gentrification Of Venice This paper assesses the evolution and impact of gentrification on a beautiful beachside neighborhood known as Venice over the past two decades. Due to the fact that I ve spent a fairly good amount of my time throughout Venice, I have a great sense of the community and the culture. But this community had gone through a lot, one being gentrification. Before gentrification, Venice had a very natural society, accepting everyone for who they are. Venice was and frankly still is a beautiful place to go for a jog or hang out with friends on the beach. However, the cost to live there has soared through the roof. Merely renting an office in Venice has doubled since 2011 with the average cost of renting a two bed room apartment falling slightly north of five thousand dollars (Dave). Gentrification happened in Venice ultimately very quickly, causing rapid change in the culture and the overall lifestyle of its long term residents. Controls are implemented in organizations to give guidance and keep the organization focused. McDonald s, one of the most successful fast food organizations in the world uses multiple control mechanisms to ensure the individual success of their franchise restaurants. Some of the controls that McDonald s uses include bureaucratic, market, product, and architectural control. Because of the research corporate does, which they do a lot of there is a better chance of success for each restaurant. The reason for this is that what the Corporation looks for is the location which will end up making it right from the beginning. For the franchisee the positive aspect is that corporate has done all the homework. By them doing their homework it has benefited them every time. They do not have to worry about the quality of supplies, or about the shipping process. The reason for this is that again all the work has been done for them. Being a franchisee owner has its benefits because they end up just walking in and running the business, but it also has its negatives, the franchisee needs to do the hiring and training that need to be done. Also they are at the mercy of the corporation looking at all the things that the franchisee owner is doing, in other words the feeling that big brother is watching over your shoulder. Also as a franchisee they tend to ignore many of the suggestions that are given by the corporation which sometimes gets them in a bit of trouble. • 9. The Benefits Of Renewable Energy Ever since the late 19th century, people have been trying to perfect energy sources to make their lives easier. An ideal Energy source is one that costs little to produce, little to maintain, and yields a high energy output. We found a temporary resource that we used for over a century, coal and natural gases. The problem with sources like these are that they will eventually run out. Renewable energy is energy that can be produced without depletion. Human have been using a form of renewable energy for hundreds of years, such as the watermill. Renewable energy is needed because it will never run out, it is more efficient than today s methods, and it does not pollute the environment with greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide. Renewable energy has many benefits such as the unlimited supply of it. Renewable energy comes in many forms such as solar, hydropower, and wind power. Each source can never run out unlike the main suppliers of today will eventually run out. In a high population country like America, you can bet that a good form of transportation is needed. In America, the main source of transportation is cars but planes, trains and boats also largely contribute to CO2 Emissions. The average American uses approximately 23.4 barrels of oil a year. This plus the amount of people living in the U.S. equates to 20.7 million barrels each day. This leads to the U.S. importing 2/3rds of its oil from other countries. Every time I turn around I think the laundry has doubled. This is especially true in the summertime when the kids go out to the pool a few hundred times a day. While laundry can be a daunting task, it can also be a costly task. Here are a few ways I save money while doing laundry: 1. I buy name brand detergent that is on sale and I have a coupon for it. It is my personal opinion from my own observation that the cheaper stuff just doesn t do as good of a job as the name brand stuff. By checking the sales ads I can usually find Wisk, Gain, or even Tide on sale. CVS usually runs Buy One Get One Free sales on these items. I use two coupons and get a great deal. I try to never spend more than $2.50 per bottle or box for name brand detergent. 2. Use the cap or the scoop that comes with the detergent appropriately. Notice that there are littles lines or notches on the cup or scoop with a number. These lines indicate the load size of the laundry you are doing. For many, many people they just assume that 1 load= 1 full cup of detergent. Use the appropriate amount of soap per load, don t just dump a full cup in there blindly. 3. I actually use 1/2 of the recommended amount from the detergent cup. If I have a small load, I fill up the cup 1/2 of the way to line 1. If I have a medium load, I fill up to the 1 line. I never, ever use more than 1/2 of the cup for even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In June of 1914, the Archduke of Austria Hungary was assassinated by a Serbian assassin while visiting Serbia. After this, there was tension when Serbia refused to Austria Hungary apologize for the killing of their Archduke. This continued to escalate until Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia. Following this, war broke out between countries all around Europe, leading to World War I. Document A shows that in 1914, the Triple Entente was made up of France, the United Kingdom, and Russia, while Germany, Austria Hungary Hungary, and Italy made up the Triple Alliance. After Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia, Russia declared war on Austria Hungary as they were not allies. This led to Germany (ally of Austria Hungary), to declare war on Russia. This pattern continued until war had broke out throughout Europe. Allies of countries continued to join the war, causing it to become as big as it did. Document B shows a cartoon by an (unbiased) American just a week after World War I officially started. It shows the various alliances that have formed and were pointing at the same countries, as if blaming them. This demonstrates that alliances were a huge part of the war because they were the reason that so many countries and therefore people were involved with the war. In conclusion, if it weren t for the alliances formed by the countries in Europe, the war would not have become World War I, and would not be as significant as it became in ... • 17. Persuasive Essay On Political Advertising Political ads can be viewed as annoying, excessive, biased, and unnecessary. This opinion is shared among many people within America with many wanting all ads to stop entirely. Now, are these ads truly needed or are they just to make a candidate look good? Certain strategies used in political campaigns can be confusing and frustrating. However, they can also help bring people together to discuss their opinions and beliefs in order to decide who to support. Political ads can encourage people to come together because of a common cause, improving our nation, and who is the best candidate for President. Political signs and commercials are one tactic that can be misleading. Many people feel that candidates use bandwagons and endorsements to help them look good and promise immediate changes which are either not possible or can take a long time to achieve. This is like with Mondale Ferraro, who made many different types of images to make him look more popular (Document A). However, these images also help people decide who would be better for the job based off of looks, beliefs, and other attributes. I would use these to help make myself stand out from the other candidates by putting in true aspects into my campaign so they do not put false hope into what I stand for. This also helps decide what issues the public focuses on the most based on their beliefs. The candidates running for President try to get rid of the issues the public are concerned about to encourage the public to vote for them. Bandwagons use well known and respected groups of people to influence the public to vote for a candidate because they are doing it. This can be done with several methods, like endorsement, glittering generalities, and even using a spoil system to intrigue people into electing them. This is like the Reagan TV ad where he tried to improve his image with the actions he had promised, which spread with the public (Document B). In addition, it helps clarify what people want most out of a candidate for their benefit, as well as their own benefits. I would use bandwagons, because it helps get other people s attention and make myself popular to others. But these methods can help a candidate who already has a lot of public support. This ... These narrated thoughts continue to portray Thompson as introspective when he leaves Vegas in pursuit of Baker. His constant state of paranoia prevents him from reading the telegram, and without Gonzo to stabilize him, he runs literally away. His narration at this point in the film allows for a critical analysis of the life of the character himself. He stammers, The weasels are closing in, waves of paranoia, intolerable vibrations in this place, madness while begging the lord for a few more hours to get out. While peacekeeping has become a mainstay of the United Nations collaboration in international affairs, it is evident that peacekeeping no longer espouses the ideals it was create with. Peacekeeping has devolved into ineffective barbarisms. This is evident in the sexual abuses perpetrated by peacekeepers, the growing complexity of peacekeeping mandates, which is at times in conflict with United Nations principles, and the lack of legal institutions surrounding peacekeeping, which validates a belief of impunity. However, peacekeeping is not to be totally derided as, in certain situations, it can be effective at limiting civilian deaths. Furthermore, peacekeeping can be made effective if several reforms are enacted. These include an effective legal order, an understanding of local culture, and developing strong relationships within the jurisdiction of the operation. These changes could make peacekeeping an effective method of conflict intervention. Peacekeepers have committed various sexual crimes against local populations whilst under the purview of the United Nations, yet few of these peacekeepers have ever been prosecuted for their crimes. The international community became aware of the damaging deficiencies of peacekeeping during the decade leading up to the twenty first century (Wills 2013, 49; Odello and Burke 2016, 839). In 2003 the number of states permitting capital punishment declined to 21, a number of them allowing this punishment to those as young as 16 (Steinberg Scott, 2003). • 31. Electric Potential Lab Name: Institution: Course: Instructor: Date: Electric Field and Electric Potential Abstract The purpose of this lab exercise was to map out electric potential (v) around electrodes in a water bath. This was done by measuring the voltage drop between one fixed location and a large number of various locations in the water. Afterwards, the associated field was calculated. The electric field strength E, was calculated from a map of the electric potentials by taking the potential difference between two closely spaced points on either side of the point of interest and dividing it by the distance between two closely spaced points. Experimental Procedure: This experiment was accomplished in two parts. In part ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the data recorded, the equipotential lines did not cross each other since each of the equipotential line was assigned a specific value of electric field. From this experiment, it is evident that the RMS voltage inside the ring decreased with an increase in distance of separation. This suggests that, the electric field inside the ring was not the same in all points. It was also noted from the graphs that the proportionality that existed between the electric field, E, and 1/r was consistent with the linear dependence of electric potential with ln (r) since both of them increased with an increase in electric field. In addition, both were characterized by a positive gradient. Similarly, the electric field lines drawn were perpendicular to the equipotential lines, the reason being that the electric potential is equivalent to the electric field multiplied by the distance. The two point probe was used to measure the electric field in this lab since it is capable of measuring low frequency electric fields. As a result, the measurements were considered accurate. The difference in the calculated value of the charge per unit length λ, for both the graphs of 1n(r) versus voltage and the graph of 1/r versus the electric field, was small (insignificant), i.e. 0.04592 and 0.03287 respectively. Natural sunlight fills the first scene of the film and green is a common color found throughout the zoo. The first scene oozes natural beauty and signifies the life that occupies it. The zoo seems almost too perfect, like it could not possibly be a creation of man, but of one gifted from the heavens. The zoo begins as the Garden of Eden in the midst of Poland, but as the war erupts, it mimics the original sin, destroying the zoo turning its sanctuary into a thing of the past. The Father Of The World Wide Web The father of the World Wide Web, Tim Berners Lee, having recognized that the internet contains millions of items and each item needed to be uniquely identified, in1994, developed and implemented the idea for addressing each resource on the internet. He called these addresses as Uniform Resource Identifier which were later renamed as Uniform Resource Locator. URL is an acronym for Uniform Resource Locator. It is the global address of resources and files on the World Wide Web. Just like a postal address enables mails to reach its destination, a URL allows the web browser to find a specific web page or file across the internet. For example, the URL for SJU s library homepage is http://www.sju.edu/campus life/library . A URL should be unique. It is a vital network identification for any resources like hypertext pages, images or sound files, connected to the web. It can make or break the website. The basic components of a URL makes it easier to identify from where the web page originates and who is responsible for the information on the page. Every URL has basic parts; the Protocol, the server name, the path, the query and the parameter. The protocol identifies the method through which the resource is transmitted on the internet. It is a set of rules a web server and a browser use to connect and comprehend each other. The most commonly used protocol is http which stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol. • 35. My Writing Quality The idea of being a technical writer has caught my attention since early childhood. Writers are diligent workers that write to inform, entertain, or persuade people about their business. These workers must work even harder to achieve master s degrees and writing experience even before they become a writer. They must experience both difficult and wondrous points during this career. Often, salaries and workplaces vary, as do job opportunities and disadvantages. This career fits me because I am extremely creative and enjoy being assigned different topics. I also love writing and directing others. There are many interesting and specific features writing carries. Writers often write manuals. In addition to this, phonics would be inaccessible to children who may be deaf and according to the current policy in place and their cure for all , there would be no real means of a different technique provided for them to suit their individualised needs (Davis, 2014; Bousted,2006). Furthermore, children who do not have additional needs may find phonics difficult due to all children being different as well as their learning needs too (Stuart, 2005; Clark 2013). Thus, how will early reading be achieved successfully here for children with additional needs and/ or different learning needs? Especially since, at the heart of the educational process lies the child (Plowden, 1967:2) not the method of reading/teaching instruction (Roper Schneider, 1985). Marlowe used many conventions of the medieval morality play, a popular form which uses a variety of allegory and narrates the gradual education of its hero into an understanding of the difference between essentially right and wrong. He modified this traditional form for Doctor Faustus and fitted it to the legend where conventionally the hero invariably comes to the conclusion of the play a wiser and better man, but due to the satanic nature of Faustus s rebellion he inevitably falls to his doom and is dragged screaming to Hell. Modern Mexican icons, such as the Virgin of Guadalupe, have foundations in Post Conquest New Spain s plight in forming an identity separate from that of Spain. In James Cordova s Colonial Rhetorics, a chapter within The Art of Professing in Bourbon Mexico, Cordova asserts a similar notion. This chapter argues that local emblems, such as the Virgin of Guadalupe and the crowned nuns, were manipulated to articulate integral portions of New Spain s identity in the eighteenth century. The extent of Cordova s debriefing on the intersection of gender with the aforementioned themes is in relation to the hagiographers preference in imagery of the penitent and discalced nuns over imagery of the crowned nuns. However, what Cordova fails to note in both the popularization of imagery like the Virgin of Guadalupe and the crowned nuns, is the significance in their depiction as not only females idols, but chaste female idols. Their chastity is an integral characteristic of their being and womanhood, which is reflective of the Enlightenment era s emphasis on creating defined gender roles, pushing beyond the mere difference in genitalia to describe anatomical depth. The female gender was subsequently subscribed to the importance of their modesty and chastity. Soccer, on the other hand, except for its halftime break, has no time outs and is constant run, run, run, back and forth, relentlessly, with only a few seconds of relaxation when a goal is scored, and that happens two or 3 times in a normal game, sometimes never scoring in a game.
