Disadvantages Of Municipal Fragmentation
Across the globe, governments struggle to sufficiently represent their citizens. The breaking down of
government responsibilities varies between countries, but one aspect that no country can agree on is
what constitutes a municipality and how much responsibility a municipality should have. Should a city
region be split into competing small municipalities, or should there be one municipal government for
the entire region? Across Europe following World War II fragmentation due to land reform was
favoured (Jurgenson, 2016, p. 34) whereas now in present day, consolidation seems to be more
desirable by governments seeking to be more cost efficient (Carmichael Midwinter, 1999, p. 163). As
a means to compromise, city regions should be governed by a system that incorporates both aspects of
fragmentation and consolidation. Through the analysis of economic effects, government issues, and
cultural factors I will explore the benefits of municipal fragmentation and consolidation. A central
occupation of a municipality is the distribution of funds to various services. Municipalities can face
several difficulties in regard to their economy because of their lack of power and responsibilities.
Fragmentation could aid municipalities according to Grassmueck and Shields (2009) in their study
Does government fragmentation enhance or hinder metropolitan economic growth? that suggests that
regions with relatively fragmented governments had stronger relative economic performance over the

Life In The Fast Lane Analysis
Life in the Fast Lane is a classic rock song by The Eagles with an upbeat tempo; however, the lyrics
reveal a darker theme than the tune suggests. The song opens by introducing and describing the two
main characters. He was brutally handsome, and she was terminally pretty. because these are
oxymoron s it is saying that they are attractive people, but this is not the average happily ever after
romance song. This is reinforced when the song states that he was ruthless and cruel and that the one
thing they have in common is that they are good in bed. The song later reveals that they share a drug
abuse habit and party too often. This lifestyle is often looked at as glamorous but on the inside isn t as
rewarding as it seems. The second verse

Sambo Stereotypes Essay
The Sambo stereotype of Black men is prominent on many televisions shows that includes a Black
male character. Black men who are portrayed as Sambo are shown as a very happy, lazy, docile,
aggregable, and carefree man. This stereotype is used in television shows because he can be laughed
at, hence, humor is a form of oppression (Drew 4). In Tia Tyree s article African American Stereotypes
in Reality Television, she studies 10 different reality television shows and their inclusion on Black
stereotypes and found that male was the only gender to have participants coded as old stereotypes,
which were a Sambo, Uncle Tom, and Coon (403). In season 3 of the show The Apprentice, one of the
contestants Craig, was categorized as the old stereotype ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the comedy television series Uncle Buck premiered in mid 2016 was a television adaptation of the
movie Uncle Buck (1989). The show was based on an uncle stepping into the life of his brother and
family, however, the character Uncle Buck played by Mike Epps is the epitome of Sambo. In the first
season, episode 1 he says, I m a free spirit, you need to let me fly (Uncle Buck (2016) Season 1). This
line coincides with the idea of the carefreeness a Sambo. A few scenes later, he is seen taking a nap
shortly after being given the responsibility of taking care of his nieces and nephew and after being
awakened by them goes to the kitchen and drinks orange juice straight from the jug. These actions
exhibit traits associated with the Lazy Black Man. However, Uncle Buck does not represent all Black
men and evidently many can tell this is an over exaggeration of the stereotype, yet, many such as
white Americans may take the overarching idea that Black men are lazy, carefree and very happy go
lucky and apply it to situations in which they encounter Black

La Manche Power And Colonialism
La Malinche, Power and Colonialism
The Mexican Mother, known as Malinche was a creator. Through her words, she created a new land
free from the Aztecs and human sacrifice. Malinche s ability to translate the native languages of
Mexico to the Spanish invaders gave Malinche the power to stop the much unnecessary bloodshed.
Malinche was a slave, she had no power other than her ability to translate for the Spaniards.Yet, her
name still holds controversy in the Mexican community. La Malinche is acclaimed to be the harlot of
Conquistador Hernan Cortez, her name is a curse among her people. Malinche is blamed for the
suffering of the natives and is believed to be a complacent whore.
The history of Malinche was obscured by fiction and then sold to the Native population of Mexico.
The Spanish wanted the natives to believe that Malinche was the antagonist so they could deflect the
blame from themselves. This increased tensions in the native communities and helped the Spanish
achieve greater success during the colonization of Mexico. It is Ironic that the Mexican people curse
Malinche because they are feeding into the very propaganda that belittles their original native
ancestry. The Spanish believed that the natives were stupid, their traditions were savage and held no
place in their new world. The Spanish planted these seeds of guilt in regards to Malinche, attempting
to falsify history through literature and culture. Instead of embracing Malinches contributions, her
children, the Mexicans curse her name and defy their native origins. The Spanish then achieve the
satisfaction of taking all the credibility for her actions against the Aztecs. By feeding the natives false
information about their Mother, the Spanish are able to control the perception of the uneducated.
These fictions are apparent in the articles that we have read. The seeds of hatred that the Spanish have
sown, appear in the form of prejudice, racism, and sexism.
. By comparing the native mother to a harlot, the Spaniards successfully planted the seeds of shame
into every Mexican. The very same seeds Octavio Paz claims to have been planted by La Malinche
herself. These historical fallacies have been embedded into Spanish literature to promote the

Life, Liberty, And The Pursuit Of The American Dream
According to historians, the American Dream can be expressed in a plethora of different ways
throughout history. Starting with the Puritans arriving in North America looking for religious freedom,
we now have the current man wanting to strike it rich. We all have our own perspective on what we
believe the current deposition has become. Have our values changed? Certainly! I believe we have
values now which are unnecessary compared to our ancestor s dreams. They wish for things we take
for granted in today s world: religious freedom, freedom of speech, liberty. The Declaration of
Independence lists, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness . This shows our forefathers were already
considering our actions. If they believe we can reach this goal, we should be able to. Everyone has an
equal opportunity to start the process towards their goals in life. ... Show more content on

Many people only focus on reaching their own goals. We need to come together as a whole and help
everyone reach theirs as well. Our success is only reflected from the work effort we put forth. America
has already set forth many rights in order to guide us along the way. All we need to do after this is be
willing to sacrifice our time and many things we love. This sounds like a large price to pay but it will
pay off in the long run. The pride Americans have in their country is great, but their ambition to find
their own pride in themselves is lacking. We need to find the pride in ourselves in order to think we
will achieve the American Dream. If we believe we are going to achieve our dream then we will
achieve them. For centuries, many people have ran to America to escape from strict leaders, war, and
no religious freedom. Some people take advantage of others and try to take their wealth instead of
earning it on their own. Some work hard to get what they want and to feed their kids, other humans
rely on food stamps to get by on

Study of Extreme Islamic Terrorist Groups
Study of Extreme Islamic Terrorist Groups
Terrorist groups have been involved in political violence dating back to the Greek and Roman
Empires. Terrorist Groups have used violence, and terror to seek political change. In the thirteen and
fourteenth century, Italy was very volatile. The government went through many changes the use of
violence and force was used to terrorize the opponents. In the Age of Revolutions, Muslims began
practicing the form of the suicide attacker. The attacks occurred in Malabar, against the Portuguese,
Dutch, and British (Lutz J., 2005).
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines terrorism as the use of violence acts to frighten the people in
the area as a way of trying to achieve a political goal (Terrorism, 2013). The United States Code 113B,
recognizes two forms of terrorism, international and domestic terrorism.
International terrorism means activities with the following three characteristics:
Involve violent acts or acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law;
Appear to be intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a
government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass
destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and occur primarily outside the territorial jurisdiction of the
U.S., or transcend national boundaries in terms of the means by which they are accomplished, the

Alfred Charles Kinsey
Alfred Charles Kinsey vs. Historian Dagmar Herzog
Alfred Charles Kinsey altered the way in which people of the twentieth century understood
homosexuality. Kinsey s findings created a great deal of discussion and controversy that became an
enduring part of American culture. Historian Dagmar Herzog s work The Reception of the Kinsey
Reports in Europe observed European and American reactions to both volumes of Kinsey s work.
Alfred Charles Kinsey s work supports and challenges Historian Dagmar Herzog s findings. Alfred
Charles Kinsey s work supports Historian Dagmar Herzog s findings on European activists views over

The scale ranged from zero, for exclusively heterosexual with no experience with or desire for sexual
activity with their same sex, to six, for exclusively homosexual with no experience with or desire for
sexual activity with those of the opposite sex, and one through five for varying levels of desire or
sexual activity with either sex ( The Kinsey Institute Kinsey Sexuality Rating Scale, n.d.). The Kinsey
Scale made homosexual behavior, not only more common, but also less pathological.
Alfred Charles Kinsey s work supports Historian Dagmar Herzog s findings by comparing Europeans
reactions to Kinsey s research on homosexuality. With Americans reactions Kinsey s research had a
profound effect on the gay subculture in the United States ( The Kinsey Institute Kinsey Sexuality
Rating Scale, n.d.). However, it also impacted homosexuals in other parts of the world. Historian
Dagmar Herzog argues that activists for homosexual rights in France and West Germany were thrilled
by Kinsey s research that showed heterosexual and homosexual behaviors as being on a continuum
rather than as a dichotomy between gay and straight (Herzog, 2006). This is ultimately due to the fact
that in West Germany homosexuality was still illegal and in

The National Intelligence Council is the main body for mid and long term strategic thinking and
analytical reporting. The most authoritative written assessment is the NIC Global Trends report
written every four years and briefed to the incoming president between election day and the
inauguration. This report often prepares the president for what the intelligence community believes to
the upcoming global issues his presidency will have to content with and provides a analytical
speculation of future trends beyond the presidential term. To write an analytical product every four
years is problematic when intelligence is fleeting and importance is constantly shifting. Considering
the fact that the President receives the Presidential Daily Brief (PDB) on a daily basis, a more realistic
approach for the NIC is to produce a report biennially. The NIC can express its strategic analytical
concerns with the mid and long term twice within a

Identifying Themes In All Fall Down By Ally Carter
All Fall Down Book Report The novel, All Fall Down by Ally Carter, contains many differing themes.
Although, the one that s the most significant is: don t give up on what you believe in. The author
portrays this theme throughout the novel by telling how Grace finds out what really happened to her
mother. First off, Ally Carter conveys the theme, don t give up on what you believe in, through telling
Grace s journey to find out what happened to her mother when Grace was so little. Because I went
crazy, I fill in. It s ok Grandpa. You can say it (Carter 26). Grace says this to her grandfather after he

friend, break into Dominic Novak s house. Dominic is the scared man Grace believes murdered her
mother. After Dominic arrives home early while the group of friends is still there, they are forced to

Grace to remember what she saw the man wearing the day her mother was murdered. The cuff is stiff

helps convey the theme because it shows how Grace didn t give up and even broke national security

Fourth Grade Social Studies Standards
Fourth grade Social Studies Standards Educational standards are set in place to give teachers a guide
as to what students should be taught and helped to learn and understand. Standards have been
developed for each state so that students across the United States of America can be close to the same
goals and somewhat on the same level as to the type of information that is supposed to be presented to
students. Social Studies does not seem to be big on the list of things to teach because such strong
emphasis has been placed on Math and reading because of state mandated testing that occurs several
times throughout the year. It is mandatory that Social Studies be included into the educational
curriculum but the time placed on the actual subject is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Classes could hold mock voting stations to help students get a better understanding of the type of
things that take place in the real world when it comes time to placing certain people in office from our
local communities, all the way to the White House in voting for the president of the United States.
Social Studies does not have to be a boring subject like I remember. It can be exciting and memorable
but you have to make sure you know the information you are about to present so that the students can
pick up on the excitement and run with it. Presentation is very important and with the standards listed,
there is room for excitement because the standards are thorough, clear, adaptable and flexible so that
the teacher can add to their prepared lessons to get their points of interest across. Social Studies help
us understand how we are connected and relate to people in our environment. It helps students use
critical thinking skills that will help them understand their relationship with the world around them.
The standards for Arizona covers the places and regions, human and physical systems, environment
and society*. All of these work together to help students understand the different things that they must

Analysis Of George Washington s Farewell Address
The document, George Washington, Farewell Address, was a letter written to the citizens of the United
States of America. It allowed outgoing President Washington to give advice on how to maintain the
nation after he was gone. He advised our politicians to act in good faith towards all nations and to
make an effort to keep peace with other countries. He cautioned to remain connected to God, maintain
high moral principles and to set a good example, one that is guided by a sense of justice and kindness.
He also advised that favoritism, not be shown toward or hostilities against other nations as this would
cloud our judgment. He told us to remain neutral and detached since that would keep the country from
being dragged into a fight. Having favorite nations could pull the nation into a war that it never
wanted to be involved in. A nation that has a devoted attachment to another could find itself involved
without merit in their affairs and might become controlled involuntarily by their actions. He implored
the people of this nation to not allow foreigners to influence our policies or our actions as a nation. He
advised us to trade freely with others, but keep politics at bay and to keep our already formed alliances
but create no more. He implored that America remain free of European entanglements and that due to
our location it should be easy to do. We have no business in their business. He advised that other

Essay about Ricardo Semler And New Zealand

The biggest challenge facing any business today is change. Ricardo Semlars approach to management
revolutionized they way in which Secom did business. However it is of question if Semlars model of
business can be successfully transplanted into New Zealand s business environment and change the
way in which they operate. This essay will therefore discuss if Ricardo s unique approach to business,
and how it can be successfully used in the New Zealand business environment.

Another way of looking at this idea is that if an employee can directly relate to the success of the
company, with the amount of profits they will receive, employees would join with management to
improve the business profitability and productivity. Bell and Hanson (1987) also believe that by
implementing a profit sharing scheme into a business, employees will have a greater sense of identity
with the company and have a greater share in the company s success. One example of successful
implementation of this idea in New Zealand is Mac Pac. Mac Pac is one of New Zealand leading
outdoor equipment providers. After 5 years of running the business, CEO Bruce McIntyre has
implemented a profit sharing scheme into the business where Macpac distribute 20% of pre tax profits
to staff each year. Other business in New Zealand has followed this business model such as the CEO
of GMV Associates New Zealand, who believes that There are huge advantages in profit share
because the staff becomes totally committed to the company (Clark Reynolds cited in Light, 1997,
p.34). What this leads to is a decrease in employee turnover and increase productivity of workers,
because they now have a greater interest in the company s success. This translates into a more
successful company.
However New Zealand businesses wishing to implement profit sharing schemes should not just look

Operation Mincemeat Research Paper
Several years after World War Two, the British government publicly unveiled how they used a corpse
to fool the Germans into believing that the Allies would invade Greece, instead of Sicily. Dubbed
Operation Mincemeat , it became the most successful and influential espionage mission in World War
Two. The mission was critical for reinforcing Hitler s fear of an Allied attack on the Mediterranean,
granted the Allies an easy victory in the capture of Sicily, and ensured the outcome of the entire war.

of his forces from Sicily to Greece. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin with, when the British used Operation Mincemeat to capture Sicily, they also increased their
chances for a successful invasion of Italy. This is because Sicily is a small island, located just at the
bottom of Italy. The capture of Sicily will allow the Allies to march their troops upward into the heart
of Italy, and launch their ships across the Tyrrhenian Sea, near the coast of Italy. The text states, The
island at the toe of Italy s boot commanded the channel linking the two sides of the Mediterranean,
just eighty miles from the Tunisian coast. (Macintyre 85) Sicily also granted the Allies a chance to
invade France, distract German troops on the Eastern front, force Italy out of the war, and finally
break the Pact of Steel , which would greatly increase Allied morale. The author says, An invasion of
Sicily would open the door to Rome, draw German troops from the eastern front to relieve the Red
Army, allow for preparations to invade France, and perhaps knock a tottering Italy out of the war.
Breaking up the Pact of Steel forged in 1939 by Hitler and Mussolini would shatter German morale,
Churchill predicted, and might be the beginning of their doom. (Macintyre 85 86) Secondly, Operation
Mincemeat was also a huge success for the Allies,

Speech On Morality And Morality
Morality refers to the concept of proper human action in terms of right and wrong, also referred to as
good and evil. According to Hobbes (1994:11), morality is simply a declaration of rules and beliefs
that are considered absolute guides for human behaviour. According to Hare (1981:27), Morality is a
system of principles and judgments based on cultural, religious, and philosophical concepts and
beliefs, by which humans determine whether given actions, are right or wrong. Moral values and
graciousness, in the past, were prominent in most teenagers. Every individual has capacity for growth.

One source of support for the legitimacy of science follows from the so called grand narrative which
presents a view of science as an objective, autonomous, self regulating and self correcting process.
Jerry Francis identifies three (3) underpinnings to the legitimacy of science but then notes that
scientific misconduct does occur. Based upon these three (3) mechanisms, briefly explain how or
where the grand narrative is likely to be at least partially naïve or idealistic.
Francis (1989) identifies three structures that underpin the legitimacy of the scientific grand narrative .
However, the dichotomy between the scientist s personal goals, and collective scientific goals means
that these structures are fundamentally flawed. There are three specific instances in which the
ideology of the grand narrative is flawed by human nature.
Firstly, rewards are not just internal. The grand narrative exists in a universe where everyone doing
research is solely motivated to produce research without any pressure from anything outside of their
desire to produce high quality research. However, this is idealistic. The reality is that researchers have
multiple sources of pressure to conduct and publish beyond their desire to do so. This shifts the
dynamics of grand narrative and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Threshold Affects The Central Place Theory
1a) Range is defined as, the maximum distance people are willing to travel to use a service. Range is
applied to the central place theory in the way that, larger cities are farther apart and offer services with
high ranges. While smaller cities, which are closer to each other, offer only services with small ranges.
1b) Threshold is defined as, the minimum number of people needed in a settlement before a good or
service will appear there. Threshold affects the central place theory because, the larger cities have all
of the goods and services available in smaller towns, plus additional services which have higher
thresholds and only appear in large cities when they reach a certain population. 1c) The hierarchy of

Performance Championship Titles
Different Performance Championship Titles Your Dog Can Earn
For dogs to have a championship or Ch designation that is added as a prefix to their name, they must
qualify for a championship. In the past, title are earned from conformation shows, where dogs are
judged based on their breed, and how they conform to established breed types and individual breed
standards. These days, however, dogs are considered champions if they attain a high degree of
perfection in other dogs sports and performance championships.

strategy by establishing joint venture with a local retailer, Sazaby, Inc. Then, Starbucks licensed its
business format to the joint venture company. After entering into the Japanese market, Starbucks
increased the pace of international expansion significantly. In 1998, Starbucks acquired Seattle Coffee

The Impact Of Burlesque And Vaudeville On Stand-Up Comedy
The Impact of Burlesque and Vaudeville on Stand up Comedy
The struggle of the funny performer has remained a symbiosis of drive, jealousy, heartbreak, and
triumph existing then as it exists now. Perhaps the only other constant is comedy s unfailing popularity
K. Nesterkoff, 2016 Richard Pryor, arguably one of the greatest stand up comedians of all time, credits
his comedic abilities to many comedians, one being Charlie Chaplin. You may be thinking, how does
Charlie Chaplin, the guy who played The Tramp in silent black and white movies, influence a stand up
comedian like Richard Pryor? Well, you may be surprised to know that all American stand up
comedians are heavily impacted by the performances in the late nineteenth century. During the late
1800 s, vaudeville and burlesque dominated performance venues across the country and developed a
new art form that had never been seen before. Although stand up is one of the only true American art
forms, we cannot forget to credit vaudeville and burlesque performers who paved the way for the rise
of stand up comedy. Believe it or not, nineteenth century burlesque and vaudeville play a major role in
the evolution of what stand up comedy is today. After all, how can we respect the art form of stand up
comedy today without fully understanding how it all began?

The Bible starts with Genesis and the creation of the universe and what not, but strangely enough
some of the most ancient civilizations on Earth had origins that were similar to Genesis. Examples of
this is the Babylon`s Enuma Elish and the Akkadian`s Atra Hasis. In Genesis 1 2, God made humans

Towel Hut * Too much responsibility: It is no longer a towel hut. It covers not only distributing and
collecting towels but also explaining policy, taking reservations and managing palapas and customers
complaints and so on.
Recommended Solutions and Justification * Increasing the supply: The resort could provide more
palapas so that more quests can have opportunity to enjoy it. However I assume that there could be a
limitation of installing palapas by government (such as not to damage the nature). There is no
information regarding government s permission. If so, they should offer alternatives for customers.
The alternatives could be canopies or beach umbrellas. However, these should be provided free. *
Abandoning the first come, first served system: All palapas should be rented so that some customers
who choose not to pay for palapas would not feel frustrated or slighted and it is fairer for every
customer to pay for them and no one needs to line up and waste time. * Consistent and reliable pricing
strategy: The Price system should be an hourly basis not daily. For instance, the resort charges $8 /

Classification Of Student Learning Essay
4.2 Classification of student learning process
To learn is to acquire knowledge or skill. Learning also may involve a change in attitude or behavior.
Children learn to identify objects at an early age; teenagers may learn to improve study habits; and
adults can learn to solve complex problems. Pilots and aviation maintenance technicians (AMTs) need
to acquire the higher levels of knowledge and skill, including the ability to exercise judgment and
solve problems. The challenge for the aviation instructor is to understand how people learn, and more
importantly, to be able to apply that knowledge to the learning environment. This handbook is
designed as a basic guide to educational psychology. This chapter addresses that branch of psychology
directly concerned with how people learn.
Human learning may occur as part of education, personal development, schooling, or training. It may
be goal oriented and may be aided by motivation. The study of how learning occurs is part of
neuropsychology, educational psychology, learning theory, and pedagogy. Learning may occur as a
result of habituation or classical conditioning, seen in many animal species, or as a result of more
complex activities such as play, seen only in relatively intelligent animals. Learning may occur
consciously or without conscious awareness. Learning that an aversive event can t be avoided nor
escaped is called learned helplessness. There is evidence for human behavioral learning prenatally, in
which habituation

The (frustratingly) accurate answer to many questions is It depends. That is because he who is
answering the question does not want to be inaccurate by lumping together data, and this is a good
thing. The answer can always apply to questions about people. One cannot generalize about a group of
people and say that every Jewish person is a niggerly penny pincher or that anyone from the South has
an interest in incest. It is just plain wrong. That is also not to say that no Jewish person is stingy and
that all Southerners have a disciplined sex life. One cannot create stereotypes from a group of people.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Modes Of Entry
Because there with the modes exports, a firm must have many bureaucratic things to do with the
government.
The export mode does not allow closer control over production, marketing, and other business
operations so to get over control a firm must use the mode of JVS.
There is going to be better domestic market information provided by domestic JV partner.
The major benefit of joint ventures is that the contributors of intermediate inputs get a claim on any
residuals. This theory implies that international joint ventures would be undertaken when other modes
of entry such as direct foreign investments and corporate acquisitions are costlier. (Janakiramanan,
2004)
So, exports and other entry modes can be costlier than JV and this is going to be related to the JVs.
But of course, there is also some kind of disadvantages compared to the exports. The major of
disadvantage is a conflict of interest which cannot be found in the modes exports. For instance, issues
such as profit shares amount invested, management of the business and marketing strategy can occur
if there is no well structured agreement. The thing is to be careful about the selection of the partner so

without knowledge of the language the culture can never be appreciated. A cross cultural consultant
will therefore have this insider knowledge not only through living and working in a country but also

The complexity and diversity of cross cultural challenges in the international business world is
reflected in the broad knowledge and skills of cross cultural consultants. Drawing on expertise gained

What is intercultural communication?
Intercultural communication in its most basic form refers to an academic field of study and research.
Its seeks to understand how people from different countries and cultures behave, communicate and

The Pathophysiology Of Celiac Disease
Celiac disease is a T cell mediated, autoimmune, genetic illness that targets the small intestine in
which the absorption of nutrients, particularly fats, is impaired. The disease has been described as a
permanent intolerance to ingested gluten that damages the small intestine, characteristically inducing
crypt hyperplasia and villous atrophy, and typically resolves with removal of gluten from the diet.
(AJN 34). Celiac disease appears to be more prevalent in women than in men. Genetic and immune
factors are known to play a role in its development. People that have a family member with celiac
disease and people that have autoimmune disorders are at higher risk to develop celiac disease. This
paper outlines the pathophysiology of celiac disease, discusses signs and symptoms, the four disease
types, describes testing, treatment, addresses the differences between gluten free diet and a diet
containing gluten, the use of dietary supplements, and vitamin D status.
Most absorption of nutrients occurs in the small intestine. The mucosa of the small intestine is
arranged in microscopic folds, which in turn contain even smaller finger like projections called villi.
The cells of the villi are covered with microscopic hairs, microvilli, projecting from the cell
membrane. The folds, villi, and microvilli of the intestinal mucosa provide a huge surface area for
nutrient absorption. Cells of the intestines are specialized to absorb different nutrients. Readily
digested nutrients are

As soon as the fight scene begins Blade pulls out a shotgun. The shot gun is black and long in length.
While the fight is commencing there is a feeling of claustrophobia that the setting creates and
entrapment. This feeling is created through the shots used as he is fighting the vampires and the

from either side fighting him. This gives a feeling of isolation and claustrophobia towards the
audience.
While the fight scene is going on the audience will notice that all the vampires are in red and Blade

7 New Approaches and Education for the Success of Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Systems
There is a common thinking in the academia and professional arenas that the solution to the untreated
wastewater discharges into our water bodies can be prevented or mitigated mainly with the
construction of wastewater sewer collection systems and wastewater treatment plants. Part of the
purpose of this research is to revisit and analyze the benefits of using decentralized wastewater
treatment technologies and evaluate the latest wastewater treatment technologies available.
7.1 Overview of Centralized Wastewater Treatment Systems Infrastructure
It is also of common knowledge that our nation s wastewater treatment infrastructure is widely
recognized to be in serious overhaul, if not outright replacement. (Crawford 2011). Also it is known
that wastewater management does not figure among the environmental legal and regulatory matters
that command public attention, despite the direct human and environmental health impacts of
wastewater infrastructure failures, to say nothing of the unsavory nature of ruptured sewage lines and
massive sewage spills, with their attendant harms for both land and water pollution (Crawford 2011).
This is due to a lack of knowledge and education to the public concerning this serious threat. A serious

  • 2. Disadvantages Of Municipal Fragmentation Across the globe, governments struggle to sufficiently represent their citizens. The breaking down of government responsibilities varies between countries, but one aspect that no country can agree on is what constitutes a municipality and how much responsibility a municipality should have. Should a city region be split into competing small municipalities, or should there be one municipal government for the entire region? Across Europe following World War II fragmentation due to land reform was favoured (Jurgenson, 2016, p. 34) whereas now in present day, consolidation seems to be more desirable by governments seeking to be more cost efficient (Carmichael Midwinter, 1999, p. 163). As a means to compromise, city regions should be governed by a system that incorporates both aspects of fragmentation and consolidation. Through the analysis of economic effects, government issues, and cultural factors I will explore the benefits of municipal fragmentation and consolidation. A central occupation of a municipality is the distribution of funds to various services. Municipalities can face several difficulties in regard to their economy because of their lack of power and responsibilities. Fragmentation could aid municipalities according to Grassmueck and Shields (2009) in their study Does government fragmentation enhance or hinder metropolitan economic growth? that suggests that regions with relatively fragmented governments had stronger relative economic performance over the ... • 3. Life In The Fast Lane Analysis Life in the Fast Lane is a classic rock song by The Eagles with an upbeat tempo; however, the lyrics reveal a darker theme than the tune suggests. The song opens by introducing and describing the two main characters. He was brutally handsome, and she was terminally pretty. because these are oxymoron s it is saying that they are attractive people, but this is not the average happily ever after romance song. This is reinforced when the song states that he was ruthless and cruel and that the one thing they have in common is that they are good in bed. The song later reveals that they share a drug abuse habit and party too often. This lifestyle is often looked at as glamorous but on the inside isn t as rewarding as it seems. The second verse ... • 4. Sambo Stereotypes Essay The Sambo stereotype of Black men is prominent on many televisions shows that includes a Black male character. Black men who are portrayed as Sambo are shown as a very happy, lazy, docile, aggregable, and carefree man. This stereotype is used in television shows because he can be laughed at, hence, humor is a form of oppression (Drew 4). In Tia Tyree s article African American Stereotypes in Reality Television, she studies 10 different reality television shows and their inclusion on Black stereotypes and found that male was the only gender to have participants coded as old stereotypes, which were a Sambo, Uncle Tom, and Coon (403). In season 3 of the show The Apprentice, one of the contestants Craig, was categorized as the old stereotype ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the comedy television series Uncle Buck premiered in mid 2016 was a television adaptation of the movie Uncle Buck (1989). The show was based on an uncle stepping into the life of his brother and family, however, the character Uncle Buck played by Mike Epps is the epitome of Sambo. In the first season, episode 1 he says, I m a free spirit, you need to let me fly (Uncle Buck (2016) Season 1). This line coincides with the idea of the carefreeness a Sambo. A few scenes later, he is seen taking a nap shortly after being given the responsibility of taking care of his nieces and nephew and after being awakened by them goes to the kitchen and drinks orange juice straight from the jug. These actions exhibit traits associated with the Lazy Black Man. However, Uncle Buck does not represent all Black men and evidently many can tell this is an over exaggeration of the stereotype, yet, many such as white Americans may take the overarching idea that Black men are lazy, carefree and very happy go lucky and apply it to situations in which they encounter Black ... • 5. La Manche Power And Colonialism La Malinche, Power and Colonialism The Mexican Mother, known as Malinche was a creator. Through her words, she created a new land free from the Aztecs and human sacrifice. Malinche s ability to translate the native languages of Mexico to the Spanish invaders gave Malinche the power to stop the much unnecessary bloodshed. Malinche was a slave, she had no power other than her ability to translate for the Spaniards.Yet, her name still holds controversy in the Mexican community. La Malinche is acclaimed to be the harlot of Conquistador Hernan Cortez, her name is a curse among her people. Malinche is blamed for the suffering of the natives and is believed to be a complacent whore. The history of Malinche was obscured by fiction and then sold to the Native population of Mexico. The Spanish wanted the natives to believe that Malinche was the antagonist so they could deflect the blame from themselves. This increased tensions in the native communities and helped the Spanish achieve greater success during the colonization of Mexico. It is Ironic that the Mexican people curse Malinche because they are feeding into the very propaganda that belittles their original native ancestry. The Spanish believed that the natives were stupid, their traditions were savage and held no place in their new world. The Spanish planted these seeds of guilt in regards to Malinche, attempting to falsify history through literature and culture. Instead of embracing Malinches contributions, her children, the Mexicans curse her name and defy their native origins. The Spanish then achieve the satisfaction of taking all the credibility for her actions against the Aztecs. By feeding the natives false information about their Mother, the Spanish are able to control the perception of the uneducated. These fictions are apparent in the articles that we have read. The seeds of hatred that the Spanish have sown, appear in the form of prejudice, racism, and sexism. . However, the dichotomy between the scientist s personal goals, and collective scientific goals means that these structures are fundamentally flawed. There are three specific instances in which the ideology of the grand narrative is flawed by human nature. Firstly, rewards are not just internal. The grand narrative exists in a universe where everyone doing research is solely motivated to produce research without any pressure from anything outside of their desire to produce high quality research. Perhaps the only other constant is comedy s unfailing popularity K. Nesterkoff, 2016 Richard Pryor, arguably one of the greatest stand up comedians of all time, credits his comedic abilities to many comedians, one being Charlie Chaplin. You may be thinking, how does Charlie Chaplin, the guy who played The Tramp in silent black and white movies, influence a stand up comedian like Richard Pryor? Well, you may be surprised to know that all American stand up comedians are heavily impacted by the performances in the late nineteenth century. During the late 1800 s, vaudeville and burlesque dominated performance venues across the country and developed a new art form that had never been seen before. Although stand up is one of the only true American art forms, we cannot forget to credit vaudeville and burlesque performers who paved the way for the rise of stand up comedy. Believe it or not, nineteenth century burlesque and vaudeville play a major role in the evolution of what stand up comedy is today. After all, how can we respect the art form of stand up comedy today without fully understanding how it all began? • 34. Classification Of Student Learning Essay 4.2 Classification of student learning process To learn is to acquire knowledge or skill. Learning also may involve a change in attitude or behavior. Children learn to identify objects at an early age; teenagers may learn to improve study habits; and adults can learn to solve complex problems. Pilots and aviation maintenance technicians (AMTs) need to acquire the higher levels of knowledge and skill, including the ability to exercise judgment and solve problems. The challenge for the aviation instructor is to understand how people learn, and more importantly, to be able to apply that knowledge to the learning environment. This handbook is designed as a basic guide to educational psychology. This chapter addresses that branch of psychology directly concerned with how people learn. Human learning may occur as part of education, personal development, schooling, or training. It may be goal oriented and may be aided by motivation. The study of how learning occurs is part of neuropsychology, educational psychology, learning theory, and pedagogy. Learning may occur as a result of habituation or classical conditioning, seen in many animal species, or as a result of more complex activities such as play, seen only in relatively intelligent animals. Learning may occur consciously or without conscious awareness. Learning that an aversive event can t be avoided nor escaped is called learned helplessness. The Pathophysiology Of Celiac Disease Celiac disease is a T cell mediated, autoimmune, genetic illness that targets the small intestine in which the absorption of nutrients, particularly fats, is impaired. The disease has been described as a permanent intolerance to ingested gluten that damages the small intestine, characteristically inducing crypt hyperplasia and villous atrophy, and typically resolves with removal of gluten from the diet. (AJN 34). Celiac disease appears to be more prevalent in women than in men. Genetic and immune factors are known to play a role in its development. People that have a family member with celiac disease and people that have autoimmune disorders are at higher risk to develop celiac disease. This paper outlines the pathophysiology of celiac disease, discusses signs and symptoms, the four disease types, describes testing, treatment, addresses the differences between gluten free diet and a diet containing gluten, the use of dietary supplements, and vitamin D status. The mucosa of the small intestine is arranged in microscopic folds, which in turn contain even smaller finger like projections called villi. The cells of the villi are covered with microscopic hairs, microvilli, projecting from the cell membrane.
