High School Essay Example
Crafting an essay on the topic "High School Essay Example" can be both challenging and
enlightening. On one hand, the familiarity of the subject might seem like an advantage, as it
involves reflecting on personal experiences and navigating through the high school journey.
However, this very familiarity can make it daunting, as the challenge lies in presenting a unique
perspective or narrative that stands out from the multitude of high school experiences.
The difficulty further intensifies when one considers the need to strike a balance between
personal anecdotes and broader insights. An effective essay not only narrates personal stories but
also relates them to broader themes or lessons learned. This requires introspection, critical
thinking, and the ability to articulate thoughts coherently.
Additionally, the challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s and stereotypes that often accompany
discussions about high school experiences. It's essential to delve beyond the surface and delve
into the nuances of individual growth, academic challenges, social dynamics, and personal
achievements. Striking this balance between the personal and the universal can be intricate.
Moreover, crafting a compelling high school essay involves honing one's writing skills. This
includes attention to detail, clarity of expression, and the ability to engage the reader from the
introduction to the conclusion. It requires meticulous planning, drafting, revising, and editing to
ensure that the essay not only reflects the writer's voice but also communicates effectively.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "High School Essay Example" demands a delicate
interplay of personal reflection, critical analysis, and adept writing skills. The writer must
navigate the fine line between the personal and the universal, avoiding clichГ©s while
presenting a unique perspective on the high school experience.

Cause And Effect Of The Triangle Fire
Cause and Effect
During the 18th century, England and the Americas were mostly agricultural based
societies. The majority of people lived in rural communities, worked at home, and
used basic tools or handmade machinery in order to make a living for their family.
Soon, the innovation in the textile and iron industries created a shift towards the
Industrial Revolution, and many people began to migrate to more urban areas in order
to work in factories. Although the revolution was faced with many problems, such as
grim employment and living conditions for the poor and working classes, industrial
growth helped the economy as there was a boom in manufactured goods at lowered
costs. The United States, during this time, was rapidly expanding, and industry was
growing by leaps and bounds. In New York City, the garment industry flourished
which led to the immigration boom as people, mainly from Europe, immigrated to
America for a better life and for better economic opportunities. The Triangle Fire, by
Jo Ann E. Argersinger is set during the time of the Progressive era in America and
details a turning point in American history. Culturally, many immigrants began to
embrace American lifestyle; although, they still had strong ties to their own traditions
which caused the concept of the melting pot. Historically, many key events
contributed to, and influenced future cultural and societal changes. Philosophically,
in the United States, the terrible working and living conditions of
Texas County Government System
During the early days of the Texas government system, many districts were divided
into counties and cities. In those two entities, there are general purpose local
governments and special purpose governments, each with their own regions and
responsibilities.
Because of the size of Texas, many rural areas rely on the local county government to
conduct political business. Texashas the largest number of counties compared to all
the other states; 254 in total. Before vehicles, many Texans had to travel to the capital
to conduct state business. Therefore, it was important to establish some form of local
government system for the people who lived further from the city to be able to have
access to the government. Even today, many county courts conduct ... Show more

This can cause two different effects for the various positions within the government;
it allows normal citizens to contribute and possibly be rewarded with a job within the
local government (pluralism), or it allows unqualified people to attain jobs based on
who they know or how much they gave during the campaign (elitism).
The city government is like the county government in the respects that it has a
municipal home rule form of government to allow cities whose populations are over
5,000 to develop their own charter. They also have extraterritorial jurisdiction and
annexation forms of government. These last two forms of government allow cities to
control development and other aspects of things beyond their city limits.
Many municipals (self governed cities) are divided into three separate types of
governments: Mayor Council, Commission, and Council Manager. The Council
Manager form is generally used in larger cities and consists of a council of five to
fifteen members, elected by districts, and a mayor who is elected by the council and
is responsible for multiple city managers to implement the various policies.
The Mayor Council form is of similar structure to the Council Manager form except
Electromagnetic Radiation Is Good For Humans
Electromagnetic radiation is good for us humans because it helps us in many ways.
One example on why electromagnetic radiation is good for us is the uses it helps us
with. Uses like medical x rays, observing the internal structure of objects, airport
security scanners, and killing cancer cells. As it states in Ck12, Electromagnetic

without even knowing. Electromagnetic radiation describes and ranges the
wavelengths of all light going from radio waves to gamma rays. Electromagnetic
radiation is good for us humans, although they have disadvantages, there are more
good uses of electromagnetic radiation than bad uses of electromagnetic radiation.

How I Learned To Go To The Southside Of Grand Falls
The purpose of this study is to provide some informative information of what it s
like to experience something in life that you have never done before. This
experiment allowed me to be able to go somewhere where I never thought that I
would ever feel comfortable in going to. I could allow myself some time to be able
to walk around, interact, and communicate with those individuals within the inner
city of Grand Rapids, Michigan. This place is my hometown and I decided to go to
the Southside of Grand Rapids, where the crime rate is high and the individuals who
make up the community do not have much. I must admit that at first I was very
hesitate about actually going into these poor neighborhoods based on what I saw
firsthand on TV, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

According to Thoms, it was found that 23 percent of children live in poverty, which
shows to be a 40 percent increase over six years (Thoms, 2015). As I found this
information prior to my observation, my eyes quickly went to the kids that were
playing with run down toys on dirt because of the dying grass. The children were
surrounded in filth and my eyes started to water so bad at what I saw. But my
frown almost immediately turned into a smile because I noticed how much the kids
were enjoying themselves without a care in the world. It s as though they didn t
care about their surroundings and just were enjoying the moment. But it saddened
me to see these kids dirty and smelly from the outdoors. But, kids will be kids and
if they were happy, then it made me happy to see them happy. I was very much
disturbed at the number of teens and older adults at the corner house on Bemis with
guns. As I stared and looked at these men in designer clothes and diamonds, it made
me wonder exactly what they were up to as they were looking just as fly as I was
but were living in one of the filthiest areas in Grand Rapids. As soon as my thought

African American Culture And History Of African-
American Hair
African American Hair
The African American culture includes many things such as clothing and music.
However, the highest beauty standard for black people is hair. Kinky, curly in
other words nappy , is an important aspect of the culture. It is as if it tells a story
about where we came from and the troubles our ancestors faced on a day to day
basis. Their hair is multicultural, meaning that there are several types varying from
straight to extremely tight curls.
A significant difference between African Americanhair and Caucasian hair is the curl
pattern or bond of the hair follicles. Other than that, they both have the same identical
makeup. A single hair folliclepossesses some complex structures such as a cuticle
and root. It contains three layers; epidermis, dermis, and the subcutaneous layer.
These are the outer, middle, and inner layer of the follicle. It is composed of
certain connective tissue like adipose or fat found in the subcutaneous layer. The
strand has cells like keratin and melanophore that provides the hair with the many
shades of hair color. The smaller hairs around the perimeter, also known as baby
hairs develop within the first trimester of conception. They often grow out as a
person gets older, but with some people, it remains. There are several different types
of curl patterns that people may have. It varies from soft waves to tight coils. This
depends on the type of bond a hair follicle has. The tighter the bond, the tighter the
curl and
Christopher Marlowe s Dr. Faustus
Christopher Marlowe s Dr. Faustus Is Dr. Faustus Crazy or Sane?
Christopher Marlowe s play, Dr. Faustus, is the story of the struggle of one man
who is battling with himself over what he values most in life, and to what extent he
will go to obtain what he desires. The battles over the control of one s ego and what
a person values in their life are the two underlying struggles in this work. Faustus is a
very educated and high member of society, but he was born in a lower class and
has struggled all his life to be a wealthy person. He attains this opportunity to become
wealthy when he learns how to call upon Satan, and he makes a deal with the devil to
attain all the riches in life for his soul. Through out the play Faustus ... Show more

Then Faustus does repent, but the devil comes and is very angry with him, and he
begins to frighten Faustus for repenting to God. But Faustus begs for the devil to
forgive him and promises never to call upon the Lord or look unto heaven for help.
Nor will Faustus henceforth. Pardon him for this, and Fautus vows never to look to
heaven (II, ii, 101 102). This shows Faustus weak character, and that he is more
willing to attain worldly goods in the here and now, then to attain heavenly goods in
the after life.
This desire to have success and the low value in his soul allows the perfect
opportunity for Satan to bargain for his soul, and Mephostophilis, who must attract
as many souls as possible for Satan, works on his lack of self worth to attain his
soul. This exchange between Mephostophilis and Faustus is a match of wits and an
attempt to test the degree at which Faustus will follow Satan. When Mephostophilis
appears to Faustus after he has preformed the ritual to conjure up spirits, Faustus is
frightened. Yet there is a hint of pride that he was able to control the devil, which was
quickly erased by Mephostophilis. This devil played Faustus for information about
his desires, and kept getting him to talk without answering any of the questions that
he had about the arrangements of the deal. Mephostophilis would only give out the
answers Faustus wanted when the deal was completed. Mephostophilis won the battle
of wits because Faustus gave up all the

Because of this grave deviance against the freedom (although, it is not absolutely

abolish the slavery system posed by the grasshoppers. In addition, these forces from
the grasshoppers are important towards the stability in the society in the way that
they measure how strong the civilization of the ants were, in terms of governance,

the main measurements of competitiveness. Education has long been viewed as the
way of economic growth. Theoretically it is emphasized that it has at least three
mechanisms through which education can effect on economic growth. First,
education can increase human capital, which is known today as employment, and it
can have resulted on labor productivity. (Mankiw et al. (1992)) Second, there will be
an increase in the innovative capacity of the economy and the new knowledge on
new technologies, products, and processes promotes growth. (Lucas (1988), Romer

Central government has the ultimate responsibility of providing for the need of the
citizens within their respective jurisdictions. But they cannot effectively carry out
that responsibility without the support of the local people organized into local
authorities. This brought about the creation of District / Municipal and metropolitan
Assemblies. The District/Municipal and metropolitan Assemblies were created by the
Local Government Act, 1993 (Act 462). Section III subsection 1 of the Local
Government Act provides that The minister shall by legislative instrument establish

A Democratic Deficit Within The European Union Essay
The claims that within the EU there is a democratic deficit, because there are
extensive powers being accumulated by institutions that appear to lack a satisfactory
level of legitimacy, are cogent. The question of is there a democratic deficit within
the EU, despite having dominated many political debates since the 70s, is prominent
in today s society now more than ever as a result of the UKs decision to leave the
union, consequently causing the world to develop an growing interest in the
European Unionand its qualities. Despite being a relatively common question, it is
important to understand exactly what the EU is and what is meant by the term
democratic deficit . The European Union was formed after World War 2 and
stands today as a politico economic Union made up of 28 countries who exercise
their power over European institutions and operate as a single market for trade
allowing for the free movement of goods, services, capital and people between
member states. More so, the term democratic deficit in relation to the EU refers to
the belief that not all European citizens are equally represented politically by the
government responsible for doing so and questioning the legitimacy of those within
the EU with power.
Therefore, to prove that the claims regarding the EUs democratic deficit are
convincing the firstly, the European commission and its legitimacy as an unelected
institution shall be questioned. Secondly, the complexity of the EU which

External Factors Influence Of Sleep Research
Factors that affect sleep and sleeping patterns include stress, medical conditions
and medication, especially those that cause chronic pain or other discomfort (CBS
News, 2015). External factors that could cause sleeping problems are the
consumption of certain types of food and drinks like caffeine, the environment and
the amount of light that is exposed to the person when sleeping can also greatly
affect the quantity and quality of the individual s sleep (BBC.2015). In general,
these factors tend to increase the number of awakenings and limit the depth of
sleep (Borsari, 2013). One particular factor that influences a person s sleep is the
exposure to light. Exposure to light is one of the most important external factors
and can cause harm directly and indirectly as it makes it difficult for people to fall
asleep, and indirectly, by influencing the timing of our internal clock and thereby
affecting the preferred time to sleep (Sleep Foundation, 2015). Light influences the
internal clock through specialis ed light sensitive cells in the retina of the eyes.
These cells, which occupy the same space as the rods and cones that make vision
possible, gives signals to the brain to tell whether if it is daytime or night time, and
sleeping patterns are set accordingly (CBS News, 2015). Exposure to light stimulates
a nerve pathway from the eye to parts of the brain that control hormones (shown in
figure 2), body temperature and other functions that play a role in making us feel

Feller (2017) stated that there are rumors that Trump s executive immigration order
may lead the local government such as the Alameda County to surrender of the
Medicaid information to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement and this is

undocumented family members.
What social, individual, policy, environmental, or other factors are involved? This
issue negatively affects the safety and overall health of the immigrants in our country,
thereby creating a public health adversity. The apprehension felt by these immigrants
intensifies their stress levels, resulting in physical or psychological issues affecting
our public health care system.
How do the issues impact the community s long term vision? The restriction or
elimination of health care access by the immigrants would affect public health
through the surge of health care cost secondary to the decreased access to preventive
care and/or increased risk of communicable diseases (Community Catalyst, 2017).
What are the costs related to this health policy issue? Aside from the communicable
diseases (such as TB) as one of the major burdens in the immigrant communities, there
are also the language barriers, and limited understanding of the U.S. health care
system increases the immigrants inaccessibility to proper health care (mental
The Plea Bargain Is A Vital Part Of The Criminal Justice...
The plea bargain is a vital part of the criminal justice system today. Before the
1800s when an offender was caught there would be a trial and verdict. The plea
bargain are for defendant s to plead guilty to a lesser offense or to at least one
charge especially if there are multiple indictments. Defendants will plead guilty in
hopes of leniency, and at least 90 percent of criminal cases end in a pleabargains. A
majority of criminal cases in many jurisdictions will end in a plea bargaining. In the
case North Carolina v. Alford, Mr. Alford is accused of Capital murder. The penalty
for a guilty plea is imprisonment for life, however, if the defendant pleads innocent
and the juryrules him guilty the death penalty attaches. Prior to the trial, Mr. Alford
accepted a plea bargain. The bargaining requires him to plead guilty to murder in the
second degree, the penalty of which is 30 years.
Later on Alford does appeals his case, stating that his agreement to the bargain was
involuntary as it was driven by fear of the death penalty. Mr. Alford s conviction
was overturned however, the Supreme Court states that a guilty plea is a voluntary
decision and is not compelled within his Fifth Amendment rights of Self
Incrimination. In a 6 to 3 decision, the Court then reverses the appeal and reinstates
his conviction. This is a great example of how the option of plea bargaining
continues to be controversial. This case shows how plea bargaining can work both in
favor and negatively
A Interview Project At The 1960 S
The initial goal for this interview project was to discover if growing up in the 1960
s was shockingly different than growing up in the 2000 with location being relative.
However, based on the responses I received describing aspects of their childhood,
my two interviewees with a 40 year age gap sounded surprisingly similar. My 10
questions were arranged in a somewhat chronological order, first asking the
interviewee to describe their first best friend from their childhood, then inquiring if
they could recall the point at which themselves or their peers started participating in
more mature, adolescent activities.
My interviews were conducted over the phone with two women whom I could not
imagine my life without. The first being with my childhood best friend, now 19
years old, whom I met at eight years old after I moved to Haines from Fairbanks,
Alaska. We have remained best friends to this day. We had to try fairly hard to
conduct a serious interview, but we were able to cover all of our ground in 10
minutes. My second interview was with my father s ex girlfriend, now 61 years
old, who I have the utmost appreciation for. She has only been in my life since
2014, but considering she was a large part of my 18th birthday, senior prom, and
high school graduation, I could never not consider her a member of my family. She
was more direct in her responses, so our interview lasted only 5 minutes.
My best friend *Zoey gave lengthy, humorous responses to my questions. I attempted

Binary Stars Research Paper
The study of our stars is very important, astronomers study them to predict what
will happen to our sun, which directly affects us. The first objects I observed were
Albireo, two binary stars. They are about three hundredths to four hundredths and
ten light years away. According to Stauffer Mark T from the American
Psychological Association, Albireo s stunning colors provide a vivid contrast that
has earned this double recognition as the most beautiful in the sky. Albireo is
easily split using small telescopes at low magnifications, which show a smattering
of background stars in addition to the double. The binary stars known as Albireo is
located in the midst of the Summer Triangle formed by Altair, Deneb, and Vega.
Although most stars look similar as far color is concerned when observed with the
naked eye, they vary in color. Research shows, the primary among the two binary
stars is a rich golden orange while the fainter stars color resembles a clear sapphire
blue light. Their color differences are not simply a contrast because it reflects their
real color. According to James Mullaney from Sky Telescope Media, Albireo is a

that zero sum is a negative perception and it is often possible for people to gain,
especially if they collaborate. I often use this technique at home with my children
and spouse. If a negotiation turns to a conflict and becomes personal, the sense of
fair play (or even getting what I need) then goes out of the window. I had a strong

Beloved Character Analysis
Sethe, the mother of four is tormented everyday by the attempt to make her
children safe. Her two boys left home long ago and now she resides in her home at
I24 with her only living daughter Denver. In the novel Beloved, written by Toni
Morrison the character Beloved seeks to gain power over a her family, and those
around her.
Sethe is always in a constant power struggle with the ghost baby the haunts her
house. Full of baby s venom. The women in the house knew it and so did the
children. For years each put up with the spite in his own way (Morrison 1). This
quote is talking about the ghost baby in the house that haunts the family that
resides in it. It seeks power over the whole house in the beginning. This caused her
two boys to leave the house because the baby was out to get them. Made him trust
her enough to step inside her door smack into a pool of pulsing red light... a wave
of grief soaked him so thoroughly he wanted to cry (Morrison 11). A visitor Paul D
is talking about how it felt to walk into the house, this is how the baby is seeking
power over everyone in that house because this is how it feels most of the time in the
house. Constantly causing pain, and grief in a way. The ghost baby causes this type
of pain and torment throughout the whole novel, seeking power and control over
Sethe inpartiular. This power struggle is shown at an even bigger even when the
ghost baby is reincarnated as a real young women known as Beloved. She is the oldest
daughter of Sethe.
Essay On Barn Burning
Why are children so loyal to their parents, even if their parents do not meet the
moral standards of the child? Throughout the text of Barn Burning , Sarty seems to
have repetitive feelings of grief and despair, yet he hesitates to out his father for
his crimes. He hates his father s crimes and his father s way of life. Yet, Sarty is
hesitant to out his father for his crimes. Mainly because he hopes his father will
change, he fears his father will harm him physically or emotionally, and he places a
priority on his familys wellbeing before his own. First, Sarty hesitates to reveal his
father s crimes to others because he hopes that his father may change. Sarty is hoping

Sarty s fear or respect for his father can be seen multiple times throughout the text.
Abner is obviously a very physically abusive man as can be seen when he strikes
Sarty after the Harris case or when his forcefully pushes his wife away later in the
text. But, Abner is also emotionally abusive to his family. Not only does the threat
of him making them move harm Sarty emotionally, but also the fact that he has no
problem abandoning Sarty really cuts Sarty deep. This can be seen after Abner
strikes Sarty on the night of the Harrison case. Abner tells Sarty; You got to learn
to stick to your own blood or you ain t going to have any blood to stick to you.
(Faulkner, 28) This leads to the fact that Sarty is only a 10 year old boy and
depends on his father to live. It s not like he could just go into town and make a
living of his own as a child. So, not only is Sarty staying quiet to protect himself
physically and emotionally, but he is also protecting his livelihood and way of
life. Finally, Sarty s last motive to keep his father s crimes a secret is that he
places the priority of his family s wellbeing over his own happiness. Sarty does
this because he knows his family is hurt by Abner s actions just as much as he is.
Yet he also knows that he and his family need his father. He and his family survive
off Abner s Sharecropping. If he were to report his
The Importance Of The Cochlear Implants
The cochlear implant is quite possibly one of the greatest ideas invented to benefit the
deaf community. American Sign Language (ASL) has been the main way the deaf
communicate and is extremely important to the deaf culture. To those that can hear,
being deaf or profoundly hard of hearing has been considered a handicap. It was for
that reason that someone invented the cochlear implant, causing a huge debate within
the deaf community. Some of those in the deaf community fear that their culture
will be lost and destroyed, while others and the hearing community believe that it
will better their lives. Most do not realize that this procedure is not a cure and that
it will leave those with the implants confused as to where they belong in society.
There are quite a few who believe the cochlear implants work just like the hearing
aid, only implanted in their head. However, there are significant differences between
the two. Cochlear implants do not restore normal hearing, whereas the use of hearing
aids can bring it close to normal. Hearing aids send amplified sound to the damaged
cochlea, and can be programmed to shape amplification of sound to match the
hearing loss. Hearing aids are very limited in their ability to aid severe and profound
hearing loss beyond environmental sound and vowels in... Show more content on

speech processor and converts them into electrode impulses. The electrode array is a

Descriptive Essay About Summer Camp
Many Canadian children look forward to one thing all year: camp. Whether they
spend the summer in the Canadian wilderness, or at one of the many camps located
in their city, summer camp is a staple memory for many. Camp is where lifelong
memories and friendships are made, where kids get to return to school and tell their
friends about the canoe trip they went on, the cool painting they made, or their funny
counsellors. Summer campis the experience that influences, and changes, many lives.
I went to summer camp from the time I was 5 to the time I was 15. I always went
to day camps, ranging from camps based on school campuses, to sewing camp, to
cooking camp. Even though I was lucky enough as a child to experience many
different summer camps, my six years at Bayview Glen Day Camp will always be my
favourite. I loved that each unit only had kids my age, and that they were names after
fun, exotic animals.
Bayview Glen was the camp I went to for the longest. It appealed to my parents
because of the door to door pick up on school busses, each with an individual name
based off a food. At the age of 5, my parents put me on one of the many school
buses, and off I went to be one of BVG s newest Hippo campers. My mom,
although incredibly trusting of the two teenagers she stuck me on a bus with, was
nervous. Would I have fun? Would I be safe? Would I miss her? Did peanut free
really mean peanut free? As it turns out, the only one who did any crying that day
was her. I came home from camp so excited that I would get to return to the busy
scene of the luscious green field we met on every morning.
Fast forward through my years as a camper in the Lynx unit, as a camper in the
Cheetah unit, as a camper in the Jaguar unit, and as a camper in the Tiger unit,
where each summer was full of fun, and where each summer ended in many tears
and lots of hope for the next. When I was little, all I wanted to do was work at camp.
I walked into the camp on the first day of pre camp, not knowing anyone else out of
the 500 staff. After quietly sitting for a short time, I started talking to the people I sat
between, discovering all three of us were first time staff. The three of us sat there,

Turbo Code is Formed from the Parallel Concatenation of...
The first turbo code, based on convolutional encoding, was introduced in 1993 by
Berrou etal. Since then, several schemes have been proposed and the term turbo
codes has been generalized to cover block codes as well as convolutional codes.
Simply put, a turbo code is formed from the parallel concatenation of two codes
separated by an interleaver. The turbo principle is a general way of processing data
in receivers so that no information is wasted. This technique corresponds to an
iterative exchange of soft information between different blocks in a communications
receiver in order to improve overall system performance. It has opened up a new way
of thinking in the construction of communication algorithms. This method was
introduced in a system of error control for data transmission, called turbo code. This
family of Forward Error Codes (FEC) consists of two key design innovations:
concatenated encoding and iterative decoding.
The turbo principle has been extended into new receiver topologies such as turbo
detection, turbo equalization, turbo coded modulation, turbo MIMO, etc. In the case
of transmission systems with interference, such an iterative receiver, known as turbo
equalizer or turbo detector achieves significant gains in BER performance, compared
with a non iterative scheme. However, the design of high throughput, low complexity
and low latency architectures for a receiver that contains an iterative process is a
great challenge.

NOx gases produced from the diesel combustion. This gases may cause cancer for

the odor of oil rapeseed flower. Most of the honey bees can sense the odor.
However, when the researchers take away the odor of oil rapeseed flower and
NOx gasses, the honey bees cannot remember the scent. This becomes a huge
problem for honey bees. Since the honey bees use the odor of flower to help
locate, identify, and recognize the flowers. The researchers believe that NOx gases

starvation. Climate change can cause the time disruption of the plant flowering and

the honey bees will in trouble because they starve into death. And if the bees born

Spanish Dish
My close high school friend and I enjoy visiting restaurants of our different
cultures, as she is Spanish and I am Korean. On our usual food adventures, we like
to recommend particular meals from our own culture to each other, as a way of
trying something new. However, this time, we decided instead of going to a
Spanish restaurant, my friend would teach me personally how to make a Spanish
dish. We ultimately decided to make a dish called paella, which incorporated rice,
chorizo, chicken, and shrimp. While shopping for the ingredients, the topic of
freshness arose. Although everything was going to be tossed into a skillet, my
friend and I were very attentive to looking for fresh bell peppers, specifically by the

The factor of freshness plays a major role when creating a meal. When I initially
searched up images of the dish, I had thought the dish would be complicated to
make and time consuming. During the actual process though, it was very simple
to make because all the ingredients are combined into one large skillet. Other than
the previous preparation of marinating the chicken with spices, the recipe was easy
to make with simple steps of stirring, boiling, and simmering. The big open dish
reminded me about the topic of convenience, as it encompassed variables such as
price, availability, and ease of preparation, which are all related to the requirements
of energy, time, labor, and skill (Belasco 9). Along with this convenience, the dish is
designed to bring people together, as everyone can easily share their servings from
the large skillet. We simply had one big spoon in the skillet, and everyone eating

Free Market Economy
The United States is known to operate in a free market economy. In other words, the
economy is based solely on supply and demand with little to no government control.
In reality, however, the United States has various government regulations on our
country s market. The amount of regulation that is necessary is a continuing debate
among politicians and economists to this day. Some would say that the key to a
successful market economy is to remove government restrictions in order to force
businesses to provide superior products and services at affordable prices. Yet, others
assert that government regulations are essential in protecting consumers, stemming
from the assumption that corporations are not always looking out for the public s
interest. Of course, there are various advantages and disadvantages associated with
each level of regulation, however it is safe to assume that there must be a balance
between an unregulated free market and a regulated economy in order to protect
people and the environment and allow the economy to flourish. Advantages of a
Free Market Economy A free market is driven by individual innovation and the
concept that hard work and initiative will be rewarded with success. Because of the
ingenuity factor, there is plenty of competition in the market place. Therefore, the
rivalry between companies provides the best possible product to the customer at the
best price. In addition, this gives consumers the ability to let their voices be heard,

why the worldcontinues towards an end of everything and if there seems to show a

Imaging Modalities Essay
Introduction In the medical world, there are several imaging modalities that are
being used in order to diagnose various pathologies. This research paper will talk
about some of these different imaging ways, as well as how an MRI functions in
detail. Nuclear medicine. Edward Williams, BS, AAS, CNMT of McLaren Greater
Lansing spoke to the class and described general details regarding nuclear medicine.
Nuclear medicine is an imaging modality that includes both anatomy and physiology
by delivering various radioactive materials to the patient. The materials react within
the patient and their activity is monitored by the technologist. The patient is injected
with radioactive isotopes such as Tc 99m, TI 201, I 123 and I 131. Adverse reactions
to radiopharmaceuticals are not very common, although common safety protocols
must be adhered to. After the injection, the patient lays on the table that has imaging
cameras placed above and below the table. (Williams, 2017). Mammography. Katrina
Lynn Steinsultz, BS, RT(R)(M) of LCC spoke in the class regarding this modality.

Marketing Is Hindering The World From Utopian Society
Children are the angelic offspring destined to grow up as strong characters to their
society. It is an instinct to protect and guide them with the purest intent to lead
them towards a better life and upbringing. Children are impressionable; they see
the world around them, take everything in, and grow from their experiences to
adulthood. When creatures of the dark are under their beds and in their closets, the
older and wiser come bravely to face any sweater monster, or Furbie that starts
talking to them from the toy box at obscene hours of the night. However, there is a
darkness that snakes its way into even the lives of those brave adults, slipping under
in disguises, passed every Is This Safe? radar, and corrupting the habits, growth and
learning of kids everywhere. Companies use a form of almost mind control to trick
customers of all ages into buying products. Marketingis hindering the world from
utopian society because it uses children as middle men to their families wallets and
ruins their ideas of self respect. When a child asks for something, it becomes a
natural need to give them everything they desire. Companies hire marketing experts
to use children to get into the caretakers pockets. Playlands bring in children, who
bring in parents, who bring in money (Chew on this). Marketers know that kids love
fried food fast and brightly colored playgrounds. They use this to create an
environment children want to go to, constructing a wonderland of all
Trust Infidelity
Life would be significantly different if there were not cheating hearts . In fact,
society as a whole would be very changed without those experiences. Think of
television programming. What would a soap opera be all those couples just being
faithful? What would be happening on Desperate Housewives? How many blues
songs would have remained unwritten? Country music would certainly have to
march to a beat of a different drummer. The impact is probably more painful and
realistic when you break it down to a person level.
Each cheating situation has its own twist, but the result is still the same. There is a
breach of trust. Even if your partner never finds out you cheated, you have lost trust
in yourself. The relationship is certainly broken.

based on honesty and trust infidelity wouldn t be much of a surprise. It still hurts,
but many times there are signs along the way. Maybe it is a way out of a bad situation.
Are there some couples that can survive infidelity? Yes. It is generally connected
with a deep religious conviction or awakening. Those types of beliefs rely on love
and forgiveness and can be an asset in repairing the broken relationship. So perhaps
the key to dealing with a cheating heart to go find religion, get a good counselor, and
work it out.

The mean of average monthly temperature during the same period ranges from 47.2

recent considerable snowfall occurred thirty years ago. One of the few times that
snow has ever accumulated in Sacramento was in February of 1976. says Tom Dang,
a meteorologist of the National Weather Service office in Sacramento. According to
the article Sunset climate zones: Northern California , Tule fog appears in the area
during winter and could stay for days. The city has an adorable climate, but its
population remains low when compare to some of the other major cities in the
state. One of the reasons is that the city has a flooding problem. In the past 150
years, the city has been flooded for many times in the as a result of excessive
rainfall, snowmelt, or runoff . The worst case happened in 1862, in which the
whole Sacramento Valley was inundated. During the period, the state had to
temporarily relocated its capital. The city suffered a $10,000,000 property loss, as the

Comparing Suffering in Plath s Ariel, Stings, Lady...
Portrayal of Suffering in Plath s Ariel, Stings, Lady Lazarus, Wintering, and Fever
103В°
Sylvia Plath s poems evoke the worst of subjective fallacies. Probably some of our
charged reactions are symptomatic of the times and the culture; but more of them
seem to stem from the always too easy identification between troubled poet and what
might be the tone of imagery and rhythm of the poem considered. Because Plath
worked so intensively in archetypal imagery (water, air, fire as bases for image
patterns, for example), many of her poems could be read as either dark wasteland
kinds of expressions, or as the reverse, as death by water, salvation poems destruction
implied, but also survived, phoenix like.

The stasis is momentary, for immediately after the pause that the word shadows
creates comes the fragmentary picture of the woman being forcibly taken through air

the apostrophe to the naked Godiva (physically, and emotionally, white, a link to the
many images of purity and chastity in these Ariel poems), who finds her freedom in
the physical act of unpeeling not clothes, in this case, but Dead hands, dead

the image of hands, or the compulsive duty oriented links with the image of
stringency.
Once free of these deadnesses, the rider/persona can then take off to the ecstasy that
awaits her. That the progression has been a fairly tortuous one is suggested,
effectively, by the back and forth emphasis on stasis and then speed; but that the
poem ends with the sheer joy of movement can be read only as affirmation.
Metamorphosis, transcendence blots out even those all important cries from the
children that other poems of Plath s show to be so beloved, as the poem closes (and
the line arrangement here is, of course, mine):

The Importance Of A Personal Value System
A personal value system is a set of principles that guide an individual s behavior,
which provides a foundation by helping someone determine what is meaningful and
important. Essentially, it is a foundation for individuals to express themselves and
support their beliefs to society. Values is what defines a person s character because
it is impacting aspects of individual s lives such as interactions, decision making
processes, and direction in one s life. As for having the principles of morals is to
know the difference between righteous decisions and unrighteous decisions.
However, the importance of having values and morals is vitally important to
establish because it influences their worldview and ethical decision making.Defining
values as abstract beliefs about desirable goals, ordered by relative importance, that
guide individuals as they evaluate events, people, and actions (Fischer Schwartz,
2011). Being from a Hispanic culture, everyone s worldview is very similar as well
as their values and morals. An example of core Hispanic values would be family is
always first, which traditional Hispanic parents would find it offensive if their child
does not take in consideration of their family and think of their family first. Another
interesting factor that corresponds to many individuals in the Hispanic culture is
having hard work ethic formed by sacrifice. Many of Hispanic parents come to the
United States to provide a better life for their families, which is a strong

The Anti Photoshop Campaign
The difference between perception and reality has never been further. Photoshop has
allowed photographers to go from using their own skills to being able to rely on
modern technology to do the job for them. As Photoshop has boomed, so have the
statistics of eating disorders, low body image and skewed public perspectives of what
the human body should look like. In recent years, many companies, organizations and
individuals have made great efforts to begin an Anti Photoshop campaign in order to
regulate or completely eliminate the use of Photoshop in mass media. Photoshop was
created in 1988 by Adobe, since then it has been used to edit and retouch pictures.

Beginning in the earliest centuries of kings being painted taller, to Lincoln having
his ruddy skin being removed from his portraits, retouching has been apart of art.
Yet, the new version of retouching has become too extreme and too mass produced
to be acceptable. When retouching begins causing life threatening eating disorders,
negative body image and distorted perceptions on the human body it stops being just
retouching . When one photographer s editing work has young women and men
wondering where they are going wrong because they do not look like the retouched

and most people do not even know it. It is only through publicity and the anti

Descriptive Essay About Ez Energy
The first thing that pops out in the room is the crinkled up wrappers, scattered
around the room everywhere, some torn up and in the trash. There were even
some wrappers that were still brand new, some on tubs and bottles, and some of
them unfinished and uncolored. These wrappers had all different colors and
designs, but they all read, Ez Energy. All of the wrappers were very glossy but also
smooth, you could hear the crinkle noise when you felt the wrappers. In the room
there were at least over different 100 wrappers, but none of them perfect in the
eyes of a perfectionist. These wrappers were just the start of the items in the large
office room. One of the most noticeable things in the room were just two simple
words, Ez Energy. Although it might not sound important, in this room it those
words are very important. There wasn t a spot that you can t glance at without
seeing those two words. The words were on everything that was possible to think
of, large banners on the wall reading, Ez Energy , brand new glossy stickers with
those two words on them, even oversized t shirts and hoodies with embroidered
words on them which say, Ez Energy. In this room there were even logos with those
two words on them, everywhere plastered throughout the whole room. Those words
were the name of a failing energy drink company called, Ez Energy. Also in the office
room, a large king sized bedwith many things scattered all over it. The bed frame
was a nice oak wood frame, but was
Coco Movie Analysis
COCO THE PIXAR MOVIE Many Mexican cultural families are familiar with the
holiday Dia de los Muertos and celebrate it joyfully, but to others it may seem to be
scary like Halloween. Dia de los Muertos is a holiday that Mexican families

spiritual journey to the other side. COCO is a movie that takes the audience thru that

new film COCO is a story about a young boy named Miguel Riviera (voice by
Anthony Gonzalez). Directed by Lee Unkrich( Toy Story 3) and veteran Pixar

singer songwriter, Enersto de la Cruz and wishes to be just like him. But Miguel Is
forbidden to play his guitar or sing the songs he loves so much, ever since Miguel s
great great grandfather left, abandoning his family to pursue his dreams of stardom.
The story continues on when Miguel is sent to the land of the dead and poses as one
of them by placing white paint on his face. During his journey, Miguel encounters
relatives who try to help him return back to the living before turning into a skeleton

Comparison Between Oasis And Dave Matthews Band
When one thinks of rock and roll there is a whole list of adjectives to describe a
band. The groups can go from laid back to an in your face, ultra loud show of shows.
There are many differences in rock bands and none is greater than the deviation
between
Oasis and Dave Matthews Band. From upbringing to influences, the differences are
represented in the music and those who live for it.
They might be under the same category but there are very few comparisons that are
so far apart.
Oasis is the foremost representative of a working class band. Their hometown of
Manchester, England is a tough town of industry. The people are known for they re
hard work and even harder partying. In contrast, Dave Matthews was raised on a

Drugs were a major part of the bands early years and so was hard, ear blasting rock
and roll. Matthews once criticized this behavior by Oasis as he proclaimed his own
virginity in the drug world.
In typical Oasis fashion, Matthews was dismissed with swear words and the raising
of a certain finger.
Perhaps the biggest difference between the two bands is their music and fan base.
Oasis is known for literally playing at maximum level, while Matthews has a
mellower and almost soothing concert sound level. He also has a very limited stage
with little lighting as compared to Oasis dazzling effects that seem to pulse with the
music. These flashing lights seem to activate the rowdy crowd found at the typical
Oasis show. The model fan is ready to jump for two hours straight and they are the
complete opposites of the usual Dave
Matthews Band fan.
While the Oasis fan hops, you notice they casually dress in plain pants and striped T
shirts. The Dave Matthews fan is uniformly dressed in Old Navy clothing and preppy
khaki pants.
They are concerned how close they look like the person next to them and the Oasis
fan wears whatever is most clean when they wake up. In essence, the Oasis fan cares
about the music and not the scene. A
Dave Matthew s concert is more of a college event than a rock concert.
Overall, the difference between the two is more than clothing or lights. It is about
the music and about the people who flock for it by the
Stonehenge Research
Research and Information about the Site (20 points)
1)Where the site is located
Stonehenge resides upon Salisbury Plain, around two miles west of Amesbury and
eight miles north of Salisbury, in Wiltshire. Wiltshire is a county in Southwest
England. England is part of Great Britain. Great Britain includes England, Wales, and
Scotland. The satellite coordinates of Stonehenge are a latitude of 51В° 10 26.30 N
and 1В° 49 20.56 W.
2)What ancient cultural group is associated with this site
It is unknown what ancient cultural group built Stonehenge. The Saxons, Dane,
Romans, Greeks, and Egyptians are among the suggested architects. One
archaeologist, named John Aubrey, attributed Stonehenge to the Celts, specifically
the high priests called Druids. William Stukeley supported this claim. In the present
day, those who recognize themselves as Druids make pilgrimages to Stonehenge for
the summer solstice. Despite this, radio carbon dating has shown that Stonehenge pre
exists the Celts by over a millennium.
Currently, historians and archaeologists have concluded that multiple cultural groups
are responsible for Stonehenge, each lending to a particular phase of building. In the

What Is The Tone Of The Unknown Citizen
The advancement of technology allows the government to access more information
about their citizens. The Unknown Citizen tells a story of a citizen s life to death
through the eyes of the government. The government seeks to publicize their
superiority so they may receive more fame and glory, but while doing so, they
magnify their faults. In the poem, W. H. Audenuses formal word choice to create a
serious tone with a sarcastic effect and irony through the lack of a rhyme scheme and
knowledge about the citizen to illustrate how the governmentknows many statistics
and facts about the citizen; however, the government loses details about his personal
life in the process. Auden s wording appears to be serious and understanding during

The Differences of the Child Welfare Policy in the United...
The underscoring concept to social work practice the pursuit towards a socially
just society. Social workers serve the purpose of enriching society by enhancing
social justice and eliminating social oppression. Mandates and mission statements
support these objectives within social service agencies both in for profit and
nonprofit sectors. One thing that every social service agency has in common is
the overarching ideology that shapes the society they serve and more specifically,
ideology influences the way an agency can conduct its services. Philosophy in most
cases only goes as far as policy allows it too. This paper will examine the similarities
and differences from western child welfare policy in the United States (US) and look

1974 marked the introduction to legislation that captured child maltreatment and
enabled funding to support and develop child abuse reporting systems and procedures
for managing maltreatment reports. From the introduction of legislation through time
new policies were developed to adhere to the provisions of adoption, family
preservation, and family support. Similar to other developed countries in child
welfare, visions for community caring systems are developed for families and
maintaining children in their own community as initial responses. Family centered
practice, culture connection, and community continuity are viewed as important
variables to serve the best interest of a child.
In the US, African American and American Indian children are overrepresented in
the child welfare system. There is a lack of cultural competence which can lead to
inaccurate assessments (Velazquez, 2011). If biological families need to stay
together and child welfare should make this a priority than perhaps the US isn t the
best at modeling this behavior. According to Gilbert(2011) in the 1990 s policy
seemed less concerned with birth families and more about children s opportunities to
live in new families created through adoption (p.24). This appears to work against the
parents working to regain custody because the system demonstrates an interest in
looking to place children opposed to working with families towards reunification.

Male Underachievment Ia
Introduction. Male Underachievement continues to be a major part of academics,
not only in the Caribbean but worldwide. It has been heavily encouraged through
negative stereotypes as well as media. For example in some television series, the
protagonist is shown as being too cool for school and in some cases has failing
grades. The problem of maleunderachievement is becoming more prevalent within
our society today, and can be seen as result due to a vichyssoise of problems such as
peer pressure, negative portrayal by the media and lack of proper upbringing in
homes. This problem continues to be detrimental to our society, not only in terms of
the short term but also in the long run. The best solution for the lack of performance in

Therefore we can see that in Trinidad the marginalization of the father figure role is
leading to not only an increase in male underachievement but also eventually an
increase in other social problems such as crime.
Singh S. (2007) sees underachievement as occurring even at higher levels of education
. For instance she has noted that females have yet again outshone males with 65
percent of the first degrees and 63 percent of higher degrees being secured by
females. This presents a worrying situation as it means that there would be less men
who are educated and employable within the country, what this could lead to is an
eventual labour vacuum, due to the inability to fill positions. This she argues is based
mainly on cultural factors, which must be addressed. If this is not done, the
performance of males may continue to spiral downwards leading to disastrous results.

Summary
The story opens on a chilly December morning. An elderly Africanв€’American
woman named Phoenix Jackson is making her way, slowly but surely, through the
woods, tapping an umbrella on the ground in front of her as she walks. Her shoes
are untied. While she taps along, she talks to the animals in the woods, telling
them to keep out of her way. As the path goes up a hill, she complains about how
difficult walking becomes. It becomes evident that she has made this journey
many times before; she is familiar with all the twists and turns in the trail. She
talks aimlessly to herself. Her eyesight is poor, and she catches her skirt in the
thorns on a bush. After walking across a log to traverse a stream, she rests. She
imagines a boy bringing her a slice of cake but opens her eyes to find her hand in
the air, grasping nothing. The terrain becomes more difficult, and at a certain point
she thinks she sees a ghost, but it is only a scarecrow. Blaming the confusion on
her age and the fact that her senses is gone, she moves on. She meets a black dog
with a lolling tongue. She hits the dog lightly with her cane, and the effort knocks
her off balance and she falls into a ditch. The dog s owner, a white hunter, happens
by and helps her out of the ditch. When he hears that she is attempting to make it into
town, he says it is too far and tells her to go home. But Phoenix is determined, and

Describe why team work is important in schools
It is important to work as part of team as this can only gain better results, you can
listen to other people and their ideas and also share your own ideas and
experiences. Working as a team can also reduce your own work load through
sharing good practice, sharing worksheets, saving time preparing your own
worksheets for your class. Everyone within your team will know what the target
goal is and work together to achieve it. Relationships between staff within your team
will get stronger and you will feel valued and this will help build your confidence
and self esteem. When you work together there is consistency therefore if a ... Show

Describe the importance of respecting the skills and expertise of other practitioners
You should show respect and value the knowledge of other members of staff, as you
never know when you will need their assistance. This can build a good working
relationship as you show your respect and interest in them. The same will be returned
to you. A lot of the teachers at my schoolhave been there a long while so I value their
advice and sharing experience, it is good practice.
Some staff at my school are not only class teachers but also specialise in other
areas, speech and language, special needs etc. It is not only their professional
experience but some teachers have outside interests, ie art, this is useful as you
could ask for some creative activities or ideas to try with your own groups to assist
the children with learning. I also respect the
Un Fallible Seducer-He Wins The Soul
Augustine was a faithful believer in Christ. He was constantly surveying the Lords
movement within the Catholic Church. Moreover, He felt that the invisible church
body were true Christians and they did not follow any other idea outside of the
ministry that he objected to such as the Donatist.
Those seeking the truth of the Lord even outside of the church will receive him and
the true seekers of the truth are the true Christian.
The condition of the heart in the church operates in this manner, and I quote from
Lane, We cannot distinguish the true from the false . (Lane, pg.50)
An example of this behavior would be about baptism. A believer would say Yes to be
washed from sin. Consequently, another in the congregation would say they believe ...

God gives grace, Not all believe (Lane,50 51). Lane wrote that Augustine believed
and said, Many non believers can make the first move, and by free will accept God.
(Lane, pg.50)
Lane wrote, God is a un fallible seducer he wins the soul . (Lane, pg.51)
Furthermore, Augustine had compared the people within his congregation to Jesus
parable the Wheat and the tare because he believed the congregation was mixed
with the true believers and non believers but really, he couldn t judge from the
wheat or the tare God only knew the individuality of the people s heart. He wasn t
going to uproot the wheat while focusing on uprooting the tare. Who is to say what is
wheat and what is tare? Only Jesus knew so why uproot what you can t see, and this
is Augustine s understanding.
Lastly, Jesus s belief and Augustine doctrine are helpful in realizing that we the
Church do not attend to accuse our brethren of being unholy. The church is a
refuge, not a space to point the finger and say what row is going to hell or what
row is on the way to heaven. We are there to hear about the Lord and Jesus says do
not try to uproot the tare it could harm the

  • 2. Cause And Effect Of The Triangle Fire Cause and Effect During the 18th century, England and the Americas were mostly agricultural based societies. The majority of people lived in rural communities, worked at home, and used basic tools or handmade machinery in order to make a living for their family. Soon, the innovation in the textile and iron industries created a shift towards the Industrial Revolution, and many people began to migrate to more urban areas in order to work in factories. Although the revolution was faced with many problems, such as grim employment and living conditions for the poor and working classes, industrial growth helped the economy as there was a boom in manufactured goods at lowered costs. The United States, during this time, was rapidly expanding, and industry was growing by leaps and bounds. In New York City, the garment industry flourished which led to the immigration boom as people, mainly from Europe, immigrated to America for a better life and for better economic opportunities. The Triangle Fire, by Jo Ann E. Argersinger is set during the time of the Progressive era in America and details a turning point in American history. Culturally, many immigrants began to embrace American lifestyle; although, they still had strong ties to their own traditions which caused the concept of the melting pot. Historically, many key events contributed to, and influenced future cultural and societal changes. Philosophically, in the United States, the terrible working and living conditions of
  • 3. Texas County Government System During the early days of the Texas government system, many districts were divided into counties and cities. In those two entities, there are general purpose local governments and special purpose governments, each with their own regions and responsibilities. Because of the size of Texas, many rural areas rely on the local county government to conduct political business. Texashas the largest number of counties compared to all the other states; 254 in total. Before vehicles, many Texans had to travel to the capital to conduct state business. Therefore, it was important to establish some form of local government system for the people who lived further from the city to be able to have access to the government. This can cause two different effects for the various positions within the government; it allows normal citizens to contribute and possibly be rewarded with a job within the local government (pluralism), or it allows unqualified people to attain jobs based on who they know or how much they gave during the campaign (elitism). The city government is like the county government in the respects that it has a municipal home rule form of government to allow cities whose populations are over 5,000 to develop their own charter. They also have extraterritorial jurisdiction and annexation forms of government. These last two forms of government allow cities to control development and other aspects of things beyond their city limits. Many municipals (self governed cities) are divided into three separate types of governments: Mayor Council, Commission, and Council Manager. The Council Manager form is generally used in larger cities and consists of a council of five to fifteen members, elected by districts, and a mayor who is elected by the council and is responsible for multiple city managers to implement the various policies. The Mayor Council form is of similar structure to the Council Manager form except

How I Learned To Go To The Southside Of Grand Falls The purpose of this study is to provide some informative information of what it s like to experience something in life that you have never done before. This experiment allowed me to be able to go somewhere where I never thought that I would ever feel comfortable in going to. I could allow myself some time to be able to walk around, interact, and communicate with those individuals within the inner city of Grand Rapids, Michigan. This place is my hometown and I decided to go to the Southside of Grand Rapids, where the crime rate is high and the individuals who make up the community do not have much. I must admit that at first I was very hesitate about actually going into these poor neighborhoods based on what I saw firsthand on TV, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, with sadness, as soon as I got out of my vehicle all I could see was the poorly trashed neighborhood filled with run down homes, children running around with dirty clothes, and men on the corners with guns and selling drugs. Inner City According to Thoms, it was found that 23 percent of children live in poverty, which shows to be a 40 percent increase over six years (Thoms, 2015). As I found this information prior to my observation, my eyes quickly went to the kids that were playing with run down toys on dirt because of the dying grass. The children were surrounded in filth and my eyes started to water so bad at what I saw. But my frown almost immediately turned into a smile because I noticed how much the kids were enjoying themselves without a care in the world. It s as though they didn t care about their surroundings and just were enjoying the moment. But it saddened me to see these kids dirty and smelly from the outdoors. But, kids will be kids and if they were happy, then it made me happy to see them happy. I was very much disturbed at the number of teens and older adults at the corner house on Bemis with guns. As I stared and looked at these men in designer clothes and diamonds, it made me wonder exactly what they were up to as they were looking just as fly as I was but were living in one of the filthiest areas in Grand Rapids. As soon as my thought were roaming in my mind, I slowly started to see

The battles over the control of one s ego and what a person values in their life are the two underlying struggles in this work. Faustus is a very educated and high member of society, but he was born in a lower class and has struggled all his life to be a wealthy person. But Faustus begs for the devil to forgive him and promises never to call upon the Lord or look unto heaven for help. Nor will Faustus henceforth. Pardon him for this, and Fautus vows never to look to heaven (II, ii, 101 102). This shows Faustus weak character, and that he is more willing to attain worldly goods in the here and now, then to attain heavenly goods in the after life. This desire to have success and the low value in his soul allows the perfect opportunity for Satan to bargain for his soul, and Mephostophilis, who must attract as many souls as possible for Satan, works on his lack of self worth to attain his soul. This exchange between Mephostophilis and Faustus is a match of wits and an attempt to test the degree at which Faustus will follow Satan. When Mephostophilis appears to Faustus after he has preformed the ritual to conjure up spirits, Faustus is frightened. Yet there is a hint of pride that he was able to control the devil, which was quickly erased by Mephostophilis. This devil played Faustus for information about his desires, and kept getting him to talk without answering any of the questions that he had about the arrangements of the deal. Mephostophilis would only give out the answers Faustus wanted when the deal was completed. Mephostophilis won the battle of wits because Faustus gave up all the

In addition, these forces from the grasshoppers are important towards the stability in the society in the way that they measure how strong the civilization of the ants were, in terms of governance, manpower, and firepower. After all, the society, at large, is open that the civilization of ants drastically moved from slaves to free people (in terms of the capitalist pyramid with the grasshoppers in power). The question of is there a democratic deficit within the EU, despite having dominated many political debates since the 70s, is prominent in today s society now more than ever as a result of the UKs decision to leave the union, consequently causing the world to develop an growing interest in the European Unionand its qualities. Despite being a relatively common question, it is important to understand exactly what the EU is and what is meant by the term democratic deficit . The European Union was formed after World War 2 and stands today as a politico economic Union made up of 28 countries who exercise their power over European institutions and operate as a single market for trade allowing for the free movement of goods, services, capital and people between member states. Using Thermal Imaging For Facial Recognition ABSTRACT: In last few years, Identification Systems has received a lot of attention in various areas like Academics, Entertainment, Biomedical, Business communities etc. Biometric Identification systems have emerged as a preferred alternative to traditional forms of Identification. Several Biometric modalities research includes Fingerprint, Iris, Face and Retina recognition has got varying level of success. Our system is concerned with Thermal Imaging for Facial recognition. The convective heat transfer effect from the flow of hot arterial blood in vessels creates characteristic Thermal imprints [1]. Therefore when one acquires the Thermal image of Subject s face, it actually captures the vein structure of the face because the temperature of the skin is nothing but the temperature of underlying blood vessels [2]. We contribute, through this paper, to the design of thermal imaging framework able to do face recognition with unique feature extraction and Similarity measurements. The development premise is to design specialized algorithms that would extract vasculature information, create a thermal facial signature, and identify the individual. External Factors Influence Of Sleep Research Factors that affect sleep and sleeping patterns include stress, medical conditions and medication, especially those that cause chronic pain or other discomfort (CBS News, 2015). External factors that could cause sleeping problems are the consumption of certain types of food and drinks like caffeine, the environment and the amount of light that is exposed to the person when sleeping can also greatly affect the quantity and quality of the individual s sleep (BBC.2015). In general, these factors tend to increase the number of awakenings and limit the depth of sleep (Borsari, 2013). One particular factor that influences a person s sleep is the exposure to light. Exposure to light is one of the most important external factors and can cause harm directly and indirectly as it makes it difficult for people to fall asleep, and indirectly, by influencing the timing of our internal clock and thereby affecting the preferred time to sleep (Sleep Foundation, 2015). Light influences the internal clock through specialis ed light sensitive cells in the retina of the eyes. These cells, which occupy the same space as the rods and cones that make vision possible, gives signals to the brain to tell whether if it is daytime or night time, and sleeping patterns are set accordingly (CBS News, 2015). Exposure to light stimulates a nerve pathway from the eye to parts of the brain that control hormones (shown in figure 2), body temperature and other functions that play a role in making us feel

Feller (2017) stated that there are rumors that Trump s executive immigration order may lead the local government such as the Alameda County to surrender of the Medicaid information to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement and this is causing a number of patients to discontinue their MediCal enrollment due to some undocumented family members. What social, individual, policy, environmental, or other factors are involved? This issue negatively affects the safety and overall health of the immigrants in our country, thereby creating a public health adversity. The apprehension felt by these immigrants intensifies their stress levels, resulting in physical or psychological issues affecting our public health care system. How do the issues impact the community s long term vision? The restriction or elimination of health care access by the immigrants would affect public health through the surge of health care cost secondary to the decreased access to preventive care and/or increased risk of communicable diseases (Community Catalyst, 2017). What are the costs related to this health policy issue? Aside from the communicable diseases (such as TB) as one of the major burdens in the immigrant communities, there are also the language barriers, and limited understanding of the U.S. health care system increases the immigrants inaccessibility to proper health care (mental
  • 17. The Plea Bargain Is A Vital Part Of The Criminal Justice... The plea bargain is a vital part of the criminal justice system today. Before the 1800s when an offender was caught there would be a trial and verdict. The plea bargain are for defendant s to plead guilty to a lesser offense or to at least one charge especially if there are multiple indictments. Defendants will plead guilty in hopes of leniency, and at least 90 percent of criminal cases end in a pleabargains. A majority of criminal cases in many jurisdictions will end in a plea bargaining. In the case North Carolina v. Alford, Mr. Alford is accused of Capital murder. The penalty for a guilty plea is imprisonment for life, however, if the defendant pleads innocent and the juryrules him guilty the death penalty attaches. Prior to the trial, Mr. Alford accepted a plea bargain. The bargaining requires him to plead guilty to murder in the second degree, the penalty of which is 30 years. Later on Alford does appeals his case, stating that his agreement to the bargain was involuntary as it was driven by fear of the death penalty. Mr. Alford s conviction was overturned however, the Supreme Court states that a guilty plea is a voluntary decision and is not compelled within his Fifth Amendment rights of Self Incrimination. In a 6 to 3 decision, the Court then reverses the appeal and reinstates his conviction. This is a great example of how the option of plea bargaining continues to be controversial. This case shows how plea bargaining can work both in favor and negatively

A Interview Project At The 1960 S The initial goal for this interview project was to discover if growing up in the 1960 s was shockingly different than growing up in the 2000 with location being relative. However, based on the responses I received describing aspects of their childhood, my two interviewees with a 40 year age gap sounded surprisingly similar. My 10 questions were arranged in a somewhat chronological order, first asking the interviewee to describe their first best friend from their childhood, then inquiring if they could recall the point at which themselves or their peers started participating in more mature, adolescent activities. My interviews were conducted over the phone with two women whom I could not imagine my life without. The first being with my childhood best friend, now 19 years old, whom I met at eight years old after I moved to Haines from Fairbanks, Alaska. We have remained best friends to this day. We had to try fairly hard to conduct a serious interview, but we were able to cover all of our ground in 10 minutes. My second interview was with my father s ex girlfriend, now 61 years old, who I have the utmost appreciation for. She has only been in my life since 2014, but considering she was a large part of my 18th birthday, senior prom, and high school graduation, I could never not consider her a member of my family. She was more direct in her responses, so our interview lasted only 5 minutes. My best friend *Zoey gave lengthy, humorous responses to my questions. I attempted to

The first objects I observed were Albireo, two binary stars. They are about three hundredths to four hundredths and ten light years away. According to Stauffer Mark T from the American Psychological Association, Albireo s stunning colors provide a vivid contrast that has earned this double recognition as the most beautiful in the sky. Albireo is easily split using small telescopes at low magnifications, which show a smattering of background stars in addition to the double. The binary stars known as Albireo is located in the midst of the Summer Triangle formed by Altair, Deneb, and Vega. Although most stars look similar as far color is concerned when observed with the naked eye, they vary in color. Research shows, the primary among the two binary stars is a rich golden orange while the fainter stars color resembles a clear sapphire blue light. Their color differences are not simply a contrast because it reflects their real color. According to James Mullaney from Sky Telescope Media, Albireo is a wide double; even a... Not only does the threat of him making them move harm Sarty emotionally, but also the fact that he has no problem abandoning Sarty really cuts Sarty deep. This can be seen after Abner strikes Sarty on the night of the Harrison case. Abner tells Sarty; You got to learn to stick to your own blood or you ain t going to have any blood to stick to you. (Faulkner, 28) This leads to the fact that Sarty is only a 10 year old boy and depends on his father to live. It s not like he could just go into town and make a living of his own as a child. American Sign Language (ASL) has been the main way the deaf communicate and is extremely important to the deaf culture. To those that can hear, being deaf or profoundly hard of hearing has been considered a handicap. It was for that reason that someone invented the cochlear implant, causing a huge debate within the deaf community. Some of those in the deaf community fear that their culture will be lost and destroyed, while others and the hearing community believe that it will better their lives. Most do not realize that this procedure is not a cure and that it will leave those with the implants confused as to where they belong in society. There are quite a few who believe the cochlear implants work just like the hearing aid, only implanted in their head. However, there are significant differences between the two. Cochlear implants do not restore normal hearing, whereas the use of hearing aids can bring it close to normal. • 27. Descriptive Essay About Summer Camp Many Canadian children look forward to one thing all year: camp. Whether they spend the summer in the Canadian wilderness, or at one of the many camps located in their city, summer camp is a staple memory for many. Camp is where lifelong memories and friendships are made, where kids get to return to school and tell their friends about the canoe trip they went on, the cool painting they made, or their funny counsellors. Summer campis the experience that influences, and changes, many lives. I went to summer camp from the time I was 5 to the time I was 15. I always went to day camps, ranging from camps based on school campuses, to sewing camp, to cooking camp. Even though I was lucky enough as a child to experience many different summer camps, my six years at Bayview Glen Day Camp will always be my favourite. I loved that each unit only had kids my age, and that they were names after fun, exotic animals. Bayview Glen was the camp I went to for the longest. It appealed to my parents because of the door to door pick up on school busses, each with an individual name based off a food. At the age of 5, my parents put me on one of the many school buses, and off I went to be one of BVG s newest Hippo campers. My mom, although incredibly trusting of the two teenagers she stuck me on a bus with, was nervous. Would I have fun? Would I be safe? Would I miss her? Did peanut free really mean peanut free? As it turns out, the only one who did any crying that day was her. I came home from camp so excited that I would get to return to the busy scene of the luscious green field we met on every morning. Fast forward through my years as a camper in the Lynx unit, as a camper in the Cheetah unit, as a camper in the Jaguar unit, and as a camper in the Tiger unit, where each summer was full of fun, and where each summer ended in many tears and lots of hope for the next. When I was little, all I wanted to do was work at camp. I walked into the camp on the first day of pre camp, not knowing anyone else out of the 500 staff. After quietly sitting for a short time, I started talking to the people I sat between, discovering all three of us were first time staff. The three of us sat there, representing the Panda, Jaguar, and Tiger

Since then, several schemes have been proposed and the term turbo codes has been generalized to cover block codes as well as convolutional codes. Simply put, a turbo code is formed from the parallel concatenation of two codes separated by an interleaver. The turbo principle is a general way of processing data in receivers so that no information is wasted. This technique corresponds to an iterative exchange of soft information between different blocks in a communications receiver in order to improve overall system performance. It has opened up a new way of thinking in the construction of communication algorithms. This method was introduced in a system of error control for data transmission, called turbo code. This family of Forward Error Codes (FEC) consists of two key design innovations: concatenated encoding and iterative decoding. The turbo principle has been extended into new receiver topologies such as turbo detection, turbo equalization, turbo coded modulation, turbo MIMO, etc. In the case of transmission systems with interference, such an iterative receiver, known as turbo equalizer or turbo detector achieves significant gains in BER performance, compared with a non iterative scheme. However, the design of high throughput, low complexity and low latency architectures for a receiver that contains an iterative process is a great challenge. The Orthogonal Frequency Division

In reality, however, the United States has various government regulations on our country s market. • 36. Imaging Modalities Essay Introduction In the medical world, there are several imaging modalities that are being used in order to diagnose various pathologies. This research paper will talk about some of these different imaging ways, as well as how an MRI functions in detail. Nuclear medicine. Edward Williams, BS, AAS, CNMT of McLaren Greater Lansing spoke to the class and described general details regarding nuclear medicine. Nuclear medicine is an imaging modality that includes both anatomy and physiology by delivering various radioactive materials to the patient. The materials react within the patient and their activity is monitored by the technologist. The patient is injected with radioactive isotopes such as Tc 99m, TI 201, I 123 and I 131. Adverse reactions to radiopharmaceuticals are not very common, although common safety protocols must be adhered to. After the injection, the patient lays on the table that has imaging cameras placed above and below the table. (Williams, 2017). Mammography.
