Gayle Meggyesy Murder Case
MILLERSBURG While the murder of Gayle Meggyesy may have rocked the community, it left a
huge void in the lives and pain in the hearts of her family.
Meggyesy died on March 29, 1986, after being shot in the back and the head in the kitchen of her rural
Killbuck Township home. Five days later, John Friedrich, a family friend and former employee of her
husband, Dennis, was arrested. And, in March 1988 he was convicted of her murder.
Friedrich was sentenced to 18 years to life, and his case will be considered at a full hearing of the
Ohio Parole Board on Jan. 26. Her family stands among the many who oppose his release.

The risk of being killed in some random act of violence isn t even in the same universe as having your

that I m not the least bit rational it s a gut level fear we have been living with for 30 years.
The last nightmare I remember vividly was back in grad school, she said. I woke up sobbing

Preparing for and enduring every parole hearing is emotionally exhausting, she said

The Collapse Of The Housing Crisis
Economists cite a plethora of reasons on why the Global Financial Crisis started. However, most
economists can agree that the bursting of the U.S housing bubble, irresponsibility practiced by
regulators and financiers, greed of banks, lack of leadership from central banks, complex chains of
debt, and the credit crunch led to what is referred to as the largest crisis since the Great Depression.
The collapse of the housing bubble, which peaked in 2004, in the United States is usually cited as the
initial trigger of the crisis. The beginning of the bubble was due to the readily available credit in the
U.S. that was fueled by a large influx of foreign funds following the Russian debt crisis and Asian
financial crisis. This led to a boom in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Slumps in value made it difficult for banks to sell assets at almost any price or use them as collateral
for short term funding. Real estate prices also plummeted, and interest rates rose sharply from 1% to
5.35%. The devaluation of homes caused them to be worth less than their mortgage loan, giving
consumers an incentive to foreclose on their mortgages. In addition, homeowners that were barely
able to afford mortgage payments while interest rates were low were suddenly slapped in the face with
the hike in interest rates, which also caused them to default on their mortgages. This phenomenon,
dubbed the foreclosure epidemic , drained wealth from other consumers and weakened the financial
strength of banks. Banks and investors that had borrowed and invested heavily in subprime mortgage
backed securities also incurred significant amounts of debt or losses with the burst of the housing
bubble, adding to the severity with which the collapse of this credit driven bubble affected the world
economy. With the collapse the housing bubble and the value of asset prices, banks began to doubt the
viability of their counterparties. Without trust, which is the ultimate glue of all financial systems,
banks stopped lending, which is the exact opposite of what banks are supposed to do. For example, the
investment bank BNP Paribas told investors that they would be unable to take out money from some

Sewage Reclamation And Wastewater Reclamation
Introduction: Need for wastewater reclamation
Wastewater reclamation is the process whereby wastewater is treated using physical, chemical and
even biological methods, so that the effluent obtained can be used again, providing that it meets a
series of parameters which varies according to its use. The need for wastewater reclamation has
increased due to the ever increasing demand for water which has led to a rise in water stress both in
terms of quality and quantity of water (Gerke S., 2001). With wastewater reuse the water stress will be
alleviated. Constructed wetlands provide a cheaper and environmentally friendly means of treating
wastewater so that it can be reused (Kivaisi K. A., 2001). Constructed wetlands makes use of the

T. C., 2006).
The wastewater reclamation can also be classified based on the constructed wetlands used for their
treatment. Constructed wetlands can be divided into two major groups, namely surface flow or sub
surface flow. The latter can be further sub divided into vertical or horizontal flow. There are many
more types of wetlands available but the ones above are the main ones currently in use.
Criteria for wastewater reuse Wastewater contains a host of physical, chemical and biological
components, it is therefore primordial to have standards which govern the usage of the treated
wastewater. Since the treated wastewater can have different uses such as for irrigation, in industries or
even aquifer recharge, different standards are required. The restricted agriculture irrigation means that
the crops irrigated must imperatively be cooked before consumption and therefore require less
stringent parameters. Another use which does not require stringent parameters is industrial cooling, as
there is less chance of humans coming into contact with the treated wastewater.
The origin of the wastewater is another determining factor in terms of criteria which must be met
before wastewater can be used again. For example, wastewater obtained from certain industries
(textile) may contain heavy metals which may be harmful to humans and other organisms alike

Interface management enables the managers to have a systematic control of all communications, and
encourages transparency and remove barriers to success, thus, all processes are integrated to form a
system.
The operation processes at Try Lilly have internal interface with sales, IT (management system),
HRM and finance. One of the important and critical internal interfaces is between operation and sales,
because it s responsible about the delivery of customer value, in the case it s clear that sales staff does
not aware about the current capacity for the production, and they take orders from customer
irrespective of the backlog of orders on the production floor, even if it s the management system fault,
because the system does not reveal the backlog of order but if there is any communication and
coordination between them they can avoid these problems and enable the firm to compete more
intensely than competitors.
Another interfaces is between HRM and operation, operations are the context that reflect the effects of

Demand Curve and Supply Curve
Literature Review Demand and supply have been generalized to explain macroeconomic variables in a
market economy. The Aggregate Demand Aggregate Supply model is the most direct application of
supply and demand to macroeconomics. Compared to microeconomic uses of demand and supply,
different theoretical considerations apply to such macroeconomic counterparts as aggregate demand
and aggregate supply. The AD AS or Aggregate Demand Aggregate Supply model is a macroeconomic
model that explains price level and output through the relationship of aggregate demand and aggregate
supply. It is based on the theory of John Maynard Keynes presented in his work The General Theory
of Employment, Interest, and Money . It is one of the primary simplified ... Show more content on

The vertical axis is the price level. The horizontal axis is output or income. The short run aggregate
supply curve is downward sloping with slope equal to (1/a) while the long run aggregate supply curve
is vertical with no slope. The reason that the short term aggregate supply curve is upward sloping is a
bit more complex. Factors that determine the slope of AD AS curve model The slope of AD curve
reflects the extent to which the real balances change the equilibrium level of spending, taking both
assets and goods markets into consideration. An increase in real balances will lead to a larger increase
in equilibrium income and spending, the smaller the interest responsiveness of money demand and the
higher the interest responsiveness of investment demand. An increase in real balances leads to a larger
level of income and spending, the larger the value of multiplier and the smaller the income response of
money demand. This implies that the AD curve is flatter, smaller is the interest responsiveness of the
demand for money and larger is the interest responsiveness of investment demand. Also, the AD curve
is flatter; the larger is the multiplier and the smaller the income responsiveness of the demand for
money. We know that aggregate demand is comprised of C(Y T) + I(r) + G + NX(e) = Y. Thus, a
decrease in any one of these terms will lead

Ex Machina Analysis
As technology rapidly advances, the notion of artificial intelligence is becoming less of a science
fiction pipe dream, and more of a reality for our future. In his film, Ex Machina, Alex
Garland takes a thoughtful approach to the question of what it is to be an artificially conscious being.
Throughout the movie, Ava demonstrates many human like behaviors, yet nothing to indicate that she
is clearly conscious.
Nathan s ultimate test for Ava s sentience is whether she develops any actual feelings for
Caleb or attempts to manipulate Caleb into letting her escape. Nathan explains that to do either of
these she must use self awareness, imagination, sexuality, and empathy to get Caleb to like her
(Ex Machina 1:15). While Ava did demonstrate many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conversely, Ava explains to Caleb her first drawing is of what she sees when she closes her eyes (Ex
Machina 0:26). While Pollock s painting was created through emotion and feeling with no actual
thought going into it, Ava s painting was entirely pre visualized; she painted exactly what she sees
when she closes her eyes. While seemingly inconsequential, Garland uses the paintings to convey the
idea that the human mind and artificial mind are very different and ultimately do not function in the
same way. While the conscious mind can act on emotional sensation, the programmed mind can only
act on observation. Garland further emphasizes this point through the film s setting. Nathan s house is
a sleek, futuristic laboratory in the middle of a lush forest. Garland uses this stark contrast in setting to
represent differing origins, the forest where humans evolved and the lab where AI was created. Once
again, these completely different settings gave rise to two very different forms of intelligence, the
innate, sentient consciousness of the human mind, and the programmed, unfeeling intelligence of Ava.
Alex Garland demonstrates in his film what he believes it means to be a conscious

Kitty Genovese
You re on your way home when the screaming starts. You look up, trying to identify the source of the
noise. Out of the corner of your eye you see a young woman running across a nearby parking lot,
pursued by a young man of around 30. He catches up with her as she reaches her apartment building,
and draws a knife, stabbing her twice in the back. She screams for help, and despite at least 38
witnesses passing by, none comes. The woman is left to die. That is the story of 29 year old Kitty
Genovese, murdered March 13, 1964, Queens, New York.
To be honest, if I was one of those 38 witnesses, I m not sure what I would do. It would be a situation
completely foreign to me. I mean, how often do you see someone drowning? Being attacked? Those
situations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Forget crime for a second. Think back to a time when you felt out of place. Was it arriving at an event
overdressed, or underdressed? In class being unsure of yourself? Visiting a foreign country? In these
situations, our first instinct is to look to others. What is the majority doing? I ll copy them.
If a situation is ambiguous, we become unsure of ourselves, and when we re unsure of ourselves, we
re not likely to act on instinct. Instead, we desire to conform. Say you re at the beach. Someone is
splashing around in the water. You re unsure whether or not they re in danger and are unsure what to
do. You begin looking around to judge how others are responding to the situation. If they seem calm,
you assume the person is just playing around. But if they look panicked, you will take the situation
more seriously.
Instinct is cast aside because if we follow what everyone else s doing, they can t all be wrong, right?
It s not my responsibility.
The more people present in a given situation, the less responsible I feel for whatever plays out.
Similarly, the more witnesses there are at a crime scene, the less likely we are to help. There is a
diffusion of responsibility, which prevents us from taking action. If we re the only person standing
witness to a crime, we d feel like it s 100% our responsibility to get help. But if there s 20 people, then
only 5% responsibility placed on us, and is someone else more qualified to handle the situation? Do

Online Privacy In The United States
The principle of freedom in the United States of America has always tied with one s private matters.
But with technology advancing at such a rapid rate, the idea of privacy might soon become something
from a fairytale. Especially included, is one s online persona. The American government has begun to
derestrict itself from the bounds of an individual s personal matters online. In reception, many
Americans feel that their natural given rights are being exploited. They feel that the government has
no justifiable reasons to be vigilating information that is not intended for anybody s eyes except its
rightful owner. However, it is truly necessary for the government to observe what citizens are doing

Sometimes, in order for an individual s own safety, sacrifices have to be made. The government has
full justification to arbitrate the people s online private matters because it is necessary for the
protection of the country and its citizens. One example comes from an underground network called the
deep web . The deep web could be described as the wild west of the internet. Numerous amounts of
information are posted on the deep web where normal search engines like Google or Bing do not
show. According to Tyler Biscontini, a writer for the Salem Press, the deep web is useful for many
different reasons. It provides anonymity to anyone using it. Special software must be downloaded in
order to run the deep web. This is mainly because the deep web s main feature is that the user s ip
address is changed so that they can roam the web free of the fear of being tracked. It also provides a
significant greater amount of information that is not accessible on a normal browser. Journalist
especially, use the deep web in order to dive into research and scouting topics for future stories.
However, the deep web can also be a dangerous place. Many individuals take advantage of its features
for wrongdoing. Due to the anonymity that comes with accessing the deep web, it is hard to track
down individuals performing the crimes. Lev Grossman, a writer for Time Magazine, describes an
occurrence that happened

Bangkok has not been easy. She does not speak Thai language and many of Thais do not speak
English, this poses a communicational barrier. She does not own a car and does not have access to the
corporate car, this poses a navigation barrier. Moreover, she had to face some differences in the

that cannot be tolerated. While some of Racela s integration problems can be solved or at least
negotiated, the chauvinism that is enrooted in the culture is impossible to cope with for a Western

When coming to analyze the positive aspects of Racela s life in Thailand we see that they are also
valuable. To begin with nothing broadens the horizon the way travelling, and not only travelling but

The reliability of eyewitness testimony has become a...
The reliability of eyewitness testimony has become a popular research topic in applied and social
psychology since Loftus and Palmer s study in 1974 (see Steblay, 1997; Wright Loftus, 1998;

traffic accidents (Loftus Palmer, 1974) or a criminal act (Roediger, Jacoby, McDermott, 1996; Cutler,
Penrod, Martens, 1987) and afterwards were asked several questions about what they had just seen.

However, discussion among victims or witnesses to a crime is difficult, if not impossible to prevent
(Yarmey, 1992, p. 252). The concern that witnesses might talk to each other has been confirmed by a
survey conducted in Australia (Paterson Kemp, 2006). They found that if the respondent had
witnessed a serious event and there was a co witness present, 86% of the respondents had discussed
the witnessed event together, of which 63% percent had done so immediately after the witnessed
event. In another survey by Paterson and Kemp (2005), police officers confirmed the observation that
co witnesses frequently discuss the witnessed event together, and also indicated that such discussions
are difficult to prevent. Discussion between eyewitnesses seems inevitable, and several researchers
have emphasized the negative effects of discussion on group memory, such as memory distortion,
(Basden, Basden, Bryner, Thomas 1997; Weldon, Bellinger, 1997), or memory conformity (Wright
Schwartz, 2008; French, Garry, Mori, 2008) that occurs due to the group process. Whereas the first
refers to the effect that an individual s memory is altered by new information, the second refers to the
phenomenon of someone s memory being altered as a result of the influence of other people s
memories On the other hand, little research has been conducted regarding the possible positive effects
of discussion on eyewitness memory recall.

things that have attracted these auto giants to these Southern States is the cost of living and operating

A grape is a fruiting berry of the deciduous vines. Grapes can be eaten raw or they can be used for

the fruit to America about 300 years ago. There are more than 8,000 grape varieties from 60 species.
There are many colors of grapes the colors are, green, red, black, yellow, pink, and purple. The white

culture and education make people better. The Holocaust was primarily an act performed with such

Chinese Immigrants Essay
Chinese Americans have arrived to the United States through three waves of immigration. The journey
of immigrating to the United States consisted of many obstacles and hardships. Chinese Americans
have been in this country for centuries, and still remain one of the smallest minority minorities. To this
day, they are still perceived as foreigners in the eyes of other Americans, and have been victimized for
their successes. To gain a deeper understanding of Chinese immigration, we must look at the Chinese
American experience of immigrant jobs, exclusion and discrimination, and the model minority
stereotype. The first wave of Chinese immigrants arrived during the gold rush era. These immigrants
were mostly young men that found work as ploughmen, laundrymen, placer miners, woolen spinners
and weavers, domestic servants, cigar makers, shoe makers, and railroad builders (Lee 71). Many
immigrants came during this period because the United States provided economic opportunities these
immigrants were seeking. For others, coming the United States meant achieving the Gold Mountain
Dream, which was to earn money and return back home rich (Lee 66). Chinese workers also ran their
own business. The two most common were laundries, and restaurants which were considered women s
work because these were typically tasks done by women at home (Lee 75). However, laundry owners
faced harsh realities since they worked and slept in the same place and rarely left the premises because

Sunset Howard Dishonesty Quotes
Sunset Boulevard is a film noir movie that was released in 1950. When looked at, the main character
Joe Gillis, portrayed by William Holden, can be seen as an anti hero. Joe shows his anti heroic
behavior in many ways. For example, he is dishonest, he uses the people around him, and he also is
only focused on elevating himself. One of the many examples of the dishonesty of Joe. One of the
most notable examples of his is when he meets Norma Desmond, portrayed by Gloria Swanson. He
starts out being noble by telling her that she should rethink let him look over the script, however, he
quickly becomes crooked. He tells her falsehoods to try and extort money out of her. This transforms
into him taking advantage of the situation.
He starts by taking advantage of Norma as the movie continues. Again, Joe starts being somewhat
noble by trying to tell Norma that he does not need to move into the house but stay at his apartment.
But, this changes when Norma tells him that everything has been paid for. He quickly drops the
argument and starts to live there. He also lets her buy him fancy suits and gifts without much if any
argument. It can also be seen that he is more concerned about the money and his elevating status ...

A Befriended Brother in Mansfield Park by Jane Austen
William Price is well regarded in Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. He is the brother of Fanny Price,
whom is the main character of the novel. Fanny is taken in by her uncle, Sir Thomas Bertram and
leaves her biological family, which is both unfortunate as well as fortunate for Fanny. By living with
the Bertrams, she is allowed a better education and to be raised in a higher form of etiquette due to the
fact that her family did not have as much money as the Bertrams did. The ill fated part of her story is
that she must leave her brother, William who, in the result, gains access into the navy because of his
connections with Fanny s adopted family.
Jane Austen writes a novel that both pushes at the romantic standards that women had to obey to while
also focusing on a great deal of love within the family. The love that Fanny has for her brother right
until the end of the novel is striking and heart warming. William is the older brother that every little
sister wants to look up to, he is not only an idol to Fanny but a role model to the readers of the
narrative. Austen creates characters to dislike and characters that convey emotion. Lady Bertram is
one character of which the reader s dislike does not stop for due to her mean attitude towards Fanny
and the fact that she is almost constantly sitting on the couch with her pug, which she treats as if she
loves more than her own children. Other characters, such as William, allow for the novel to not be one
of complete hate amongst

A Research Study On Using A Computer Program
Personalized questions will allow the survey to get clear answers from willing participants. By giving
people the option to participate and requiring them to adhere to the privacy policy all participants will
be more open to the line of questioning (Cobbey, 2017). The screening criteria of the survey will

The screened samples will then take the surveys online from the link on the WTAP News Facebook

Since the open ended questions in the WTAP News questionnaire can have an infinite number of
answer, identifying similarities is the goal. Coding provides identification for specific themes in the
data. Individual responses will be listed then consolidated into exclusive numeric codes for each
specific category. Each code will illustrate each possible outcome by categorizing answers through
similarities. Data entry for closed ended questions will be simpler, because only three of the questions
were open ended. Most patterns can be realized through the closed ended questions. Time can be
saved and biased can be removed by analyzing each individual response and categorizing them by
identifying patterns and giving them codes. Open ended questions can be coded and filtered to be
analyzed as well through similarities. Coding is important, because results can be more easily checked
through subgroups than individual answers per respondent.
Once codes are set, the next step is to enter the numeric codes. Individual responses should be
consolidated into the numeric codes in order to make the results easier to analyze. The codes would be
entered into a computer and then analyzed by a data entry operator. Intelligent data entry is a popular
method used to analyze patterns. Skip patterns, invalid codes, or violations can be identified through
this process. Through this

My Proposed Plan For Life
Holley Lentner Events My Proposed Plan for Life in College While attending the University of North
Florida for my first semester, I have learned several new things about myself, like empathy, through
classes like Honors Colloquium. This class, in particular, has provided me with experiences that will
aid me further along in life, like our service projects. Additionally, through the assignments of this
course I have come to realize the skills and abilities that are in need improvement in order for me to be
successful at the occupation I intend to pursue. My aspiration in life is to earn an honest living by
providing health care to those in need of such attention. With this career path, I believe that I will have
both an exciting and rewarding occupation. Helping those in need by promoting health and preventing
disease is something that I found interesting ever since I was little. For when I was younger, I was in
the hospital quite often for countless reasons, and knowing that I was going to be perfectly okay lead
my impressionable self to gain the utmost respect for those in the healthcare business and eventually
lead me to pursue a career in the field. Ultimately, I feel that this profession will allow for me to
contribute to society and in doing so, I remain confident that I will learn a great deal from an
occupation in health care. For a great man once said, Far and away the best prize that life has to offer

Essay on Sending Your Child to a Day Care Center
Sending Your Child to a Day Care Center
Abstract
Sending your child to day care is a tough decision to make. Parents most look into various ideas when
picking a day care center. They also must think about what is best for their child s development
whether it be social, physical or cognitive. There are various pros and cons to sending your child to
day care and decide if it is right for your child and family.
As they stepped into Ms. Couchon s office, the mother, a nurse, burst into tears. Her husband, a
software engineer, had just lost his job, she explained, leaving the family strapped. I gave her a hug

Not all daycare centers do this for the parents but they should, to make it easier on the parents
(Shellenbarger, 2000).
When sending your child to a day care center, you should also keep in mind the requirements of these
centers according to Unites States model building codes. Child day care centers are found in all kinds
of areas whether it is a small or large town or building. Many are commercial ventures but enough are
found inside the homes of your average family. These child day care centers are licensed by most
states and the regulations require approval by the local fire marshal. According to the model building
codes, for it to be considered an education use group day care center, the center must provide space for
more than five people over the age of 2 ½ for less than 24 hours a day. There are many regulations that
are going to be found in a day care center that is up to building code (Corbett, 1998).
Here are some of the things that parents might want to inspect before deciding to send their child to a
specific center. For one thing it should meet the occupant load that is said to be that there should be 20
square feet per person in the room. Some states lower this amount when it relates to classrooms for the
benefit of the children. The location of the building is also important to look into before

Juvenile Justice
Juvenile justice has traditionally followed a punitive model when faced with young transgressors.
Most juvenile justice departments have then also followed this model, creating a system that is in
effect not only separate from the community, but also from the family unit. Many juvenile offenders
are then physically removed both from their communities and their families to be incarcerated into
punitive institutions. According to the Balanced and Restorative Justice model, however,
accountability is best encouraged with the direct involvement of both the community and the family
unit (U.S. Dept. of Justice). This is also the case with young John Black, whose offense was
possession of a fire arm, although this did not lead to any actual harm to others. He is therefore an
excellent candidate for family and community based programs, helping him to learn accountability
and find his place in society in an effective and productive way. Probation in juvenile justice has a
very specific role. The first important thing to keep in mind is the underlying reasons for crimes
committed by youth and the importance of distinguishing this from the reasons why adults would
engage in criminal activity (King County, 2012). As such, the Juvenile Probation Office regards
accountability as important when young people like John commit crimes, but it is also important to
prevent further delinquent activity. Hence, the Office considers incarceration or institutionalization
only as a last resort

Contributive Causes Of The American Revolution
Without the American Revolution, the United States would not exist.
Before the American Revolution, the nation was a collection of 13 British colonies that were united by
the British monarchy. During this time it was ruled by British Parliament which was 3500 miles away
and a journey by ship that was 27 days long in the ideal situation but could be up to 6 8 weeks. All of
the colonies with the exception of Georgia were formed by people trying to escape some form of
persecution. One of the main contributive factors to the American Revolution was the Intolerable Acts
(or otherwise known in Great Britian as the Coercive Acts); which included the Boston Port Act, the
Massachusetts Government Act, the Administration of Justice Act, and the Quartering Act.
The Boston Port Act was passed by parliament on March 31, 1774. This Act was designed to punish
the inhabitants of Boston, Massachusetts for the incident that would later become known as the
Boston Tea Party. The British Parliament demanded that the city s residents pay for the nearly $1
million worth (in today s money) of tea dumped in to Boston Harbor during the Boston Tea Party. This
act closed the port of Boston so tightly that the colonists could not even bring hay in from
Charlestown to give to their starving horses. Only food and firewood were permitted into the port. The
events leading up to this act included the Boston Massacre which occurred on December 16, 1773.
This Act was the first, and the easiest to enforce of

The Battle Of The Uss Maine
On April 19th, 1898, the United States declared war on Spain. Over the next three months the United
States, along with Cuban Rebels waged war against the Spanish forces in hopes of returning the
Cuban lands back to its people. President McKinley who was pressured into war by yellow press, sent
American forces into battle which ultimately led to the birth of a western hemispheric super power,
the United States. The sinking of the USS Maine, the use of yellow press journalism, and the national
uproar and motivation is what drove the Americans to victory. Valeriano Weyler, the Spanish General
in Cuba, started a campaign called Subjugation or Death. This bloody campaign was Spain s attempt
to force the local people into slavery. Filled with concentration camps, burning villages and murdering
Cubans, this campaign took the lives of over 200,000 Cuban people. Since Spain was aware that the
US had sympathy towards the Cuban rebels this endangered the lives of American citizens living
there. The USS Maine was built in 1888 and was seen as advanced American battleship modeled after
advanced European designs. President McKinley while keeping a close eye on the events unfolding in
his neighboring country, sent the USS Maine to the island of Key West, only 90 miles from Havana,
Cuba. The USS Maine was sent in anticipation of an evacuation of American s from Cuba should
things get worse. In January of 1898 rioting broke out in Cuba which led to the dispatch of the USS

Adolf Hitler And His Nazi Party
Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party are key in the story of the modern Jewish plight within central Europe.
Despite a vast number of the laws passed within Nazi Germany and then Nazi occupied Europe being
applicable to the Jewry of Germany, and Europe it is clear that it was not exclusively for the Jews and
the effect of this was not worse for one or another. However, this essay endeavours to discuss the main
characteristics of the Nazi policies on the Jewish population and it is easy to see that the main
characteristic was exclusion aided by terror, which only appeared to brew with the well established
feelings of anti Semitism and become increasingly more extreme. However it is important to
acknowledge the debate around the subject, as suggested by Wildt it is important to not willingly
accept and adopt the school of thought as a clear cut unfolding of Nazi policy, where he suggests that
anti Semitism has been a part of Germanic life for centuries and not a product of the regime. Before
going into the characteristics of the policies of the Nazi party it is important to understand about the
origins of the party itself and therefore the origins of the party s anti Semitic nature. The National
Socialist German Workers Party commonly known in English as the Nazi Party was a political party in
Germany active between 1920 and 1945. The party grew from the German Nationalist, racist and
populist anti communist paramilitary culture which fought against the communist uprisings

I believe poverty is caused by the division of social class. It s as though we put a wall between the rich

Analysis Of Foxy s U.s. Expansion Essay
Our report examined Foxy s U.S. expansion, which is occurring due to oversaturation in Canada, and
whether it should be executed by use of a trade show distribution strategy with high fixed costs, or a
sales representative distribution strategy with low fixed costs.
With trade shows, the two founders will be able to show their own energy and passion for their work,
while networking with relevant American industry leaders. However, they would be competing for
attention with thousands of other booths, making it essential to capture the attention of retailers.
Furthermore, the time commitment to trade shows could dilute the attention they pay to their Canadian
Foxy brand. Sales representatives would have an easier time entering the market which could lead to
quicker profits. While it would initially be less of a time commitment to hire sales representatives, it
would remain an ongoing commitment to monitor the representatives and find new representatives if
necessary. The high fixed cost nature of trade shows will make it more difficult for Foxy to break
even. However, this will ensure a higher contribution margin which could leads to larger profits after
breaking even. This, combatted with a wider variation of potential orders, leads to an unpredictable
operating income that could easily exceed Foxy s goals or miss it by a lot. This strategy would involve
a higher operating leverage, which would enable Foxy to see a larger increase in profit as sales
increase. Conversely, the

Writing Genre Analysis
Translating one genre into another one requires creative thinking and forces writer to adapt to the
needs of a new audience. In this assignment, I chose to translate an entertainment article into a
scientific journal. Specifically, I wanted to change the genre of an article titled Gavin Rossdale

a scientific journal. The scientific journal will then discusses women s reaction to cheating in

I think the hardest part of this assignment is making sure that the article that I am translating to reflects
the characteristics of the actual genre. Although this was initially challenging, I was able to overcome
these confusion by studying more about both the magazine article and the scientific journal and
analyzing the writing conventions that each of these genres have. By studying more about the genres
and actually translating the piece myself, I was able to get a deeper understanding of the writing
choices and the purpose of these two genres. As mentioned in Kerry Dirk s Navigating Genres article,
each genre has certain characteristics or conventions that define them (Dirk, 258). This assignment
helped me understand the choices that authors made in these two genres in order to attract their own
target audience and purpose. For example, I learned that entertainment articles like to use words such
as shocking and exclusive news because they are trying to attract readers while scientific journals
prefer less of this. In addition to using Dirk s Navigating Genres article, I also used Mike Bunn s How
to Read Like a Writer article to help me in this translating process. As explained by Bunn, when we
read like a writer, we identify some of the choices that the authors made so then we could have better
understanding of how such choices might appear in our own writing (Bunn, 22). By learning how to
read like a writer and applying it to reading the original article, I was able to notice the choices that
she had made and decide which parts of it that I would want to keep for the new translated

Transgenderity And Transgenderism
In today s society the Christian Church is being strongly criticized because of their stance on
homosexuality and transgenderism. Some Christians have chosen to remain silent on the issue while
others have decided to scream their distaste for homosexuality in the faces of others. Some Christians
have fallen into the trap of false teachings and believe that who you are and who you love is out of
your control, and no one should have to suppress their desires. Regardless, the Word of God is crystal
clear when describing what romantic relationships should look like and how to approach others who
disagree with that. It is most important that Christians know the Word of God so that they can stand up
for the truth.
Morgan Guyton s The Christians United Statement in Support of LGBT Inclusion, presents rather
perplexing theology. To open the article, Guyton condemns the statements made by the members of
the Council of Biblical Manhood and Womanhood advocating for traditional, heterosexual marriage.
He then goes on to examine, or more accurately agree with, the ideas laid out by the Christians United
organization. One of the main ideas given by the Christians United organization is that all people are
created in the image of God, and that God, as stated in article 1, is not limited to a gender binary, of
male and female (Guyton). While God may or may not be limited to that binary, His creation certainly
is. Genesis 1:27 does state that man is created in the image of God, but it

Military Decision Making Process ( Mdmp )
Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) SGT Alexander, Joseph Non commission Officers
Academy Senior Leader Course ALC 166 16 Phase 1 dL Abstract The historical process of creating
and implementation of the Military Decision Making Process has changed significantly since World
War I. The US Army did not have a published staff doctrine or guidance to assist commanders in the
decision making process. The Regulations for Field Maneuvers (1910), did not provide staff guidance.
In 1914, the field service regulation (FSR) identified the need for decision making processes. The
Staff Officer Field Manual (1932), complied principles, data, and information that was intended to
guide the operations of staff of all units and territorial commands. The Staff Officer Field Manual
(1932), was a detailed manual that explained staff functions and more complete commander estimates
of implementation time. Introduction The Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) is a repeating
plan of procedures used to understand the situation and mission. The MDMP is used to develop a
course of action and produce an operation plan or order. The MDMP integrates the commander, staff,
subordinate, headquarters personnel, and other stakeholders involved in the planning process. We need

The Global Problem Of Global Trade Essay
There is no doubt that the importance of global trade is one of the most integral aspects out of which
human beings began their dominance of this planet. If history books tell us anything, it is that the
some of the most important and powerful countries had their beginnings in early global trade. One of
the most well known countries which took to the high seas in their venture to dominate global trade is
Portugal. Their story has been told and re told time and time again, always positioning them as a
leader during the Age of Discovery, a time in which finding the fastest overseas trade routes for items
such as spices lead to other discoveries as well. While Portugal will always be able to reflect on past
achievements and their footnote in the infancy of a global network, they still find themselves situated
as a participating member of a less glorious and more ominous trade venture. Portugal s role in the
global illegal trafficking of drugs and human beings is a controversial and hot button issue on a
multitude of socio political levels. While their inclusion into this dark world is by no means voluntary,
their participation in the illegal trafficking trade is a symptom of what could arguably be considered
one of their leading characteristics which allowed them to dominant the Golden Era; geographic
positionality. A recent document leaked from a global intelligence firm in 2012 succinctly sums up
their inherent problem:
Like a springboard, Portugal is used as a doorway to

The Mysteries Of Udolpho, Frankenstein, And The Rime Of...
Ghostly evocations of terror, decrepit castles and manors, villainous tyrants bent on destruction...and
witty dialogue laced with irony and satire speaking of matchmaking, fall fashions and the propriety of
social actions? Pre dash, the elements of Gothic fiction permeate and resonate throughout the
Romantic era and are included in analysis of many such fiction and prose. The Mysteries of Udolpho,
Frankenstein, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, etc. display said aspects and can be considered works
of true Gothic horror. Emily St. Aubert (from Udolpho) acts in the Gothic fashion when, examining
the secret chambers of the deceased Marchioness, she witnesses the supernatural apparition rising
above the resting place and subsequently fleeing in terror. Such is not said when Elizabeth Bennet
refuses the wedding proposal from Fitzwilliam Darcy. To most, Pride and Prejudice is a work of
romance and social satire; an apex in wit and dialogue. There are no spectres at Pemberley nor is there
an insatiable tyrant or haunted castle at Derbyshire. However, there is a sense of fear amongst many of
the characters. The houses are often large and hiding a painful secret. And love, at least between a few,
transcends the boundary into the supernatural; or at least has elements thereof. Contrary to its popular,
and overly common, definition and perception, I will argue that Austen s Pride and Prejudice (hereon
referred to as P P) is an established piece of Gothic fiction, as it

Milleneration And Generation Z And The Post-Millennial...
Millennials are defined to have been born somewhere between the mid to late 80s till the early to mid
90s, whereas Generation Z is characterized to have been born between 1995 till about now. Therein
lies a large area for differences between the two generations. I was born on the tail end of 1999
meaning I was technically born in the Gen Z era, but I sometimes see myself relating to Millennials I
see online or in mainstream media. I will discuss both generations and then decide where I most see
myself.
Generation Z, the Post Millennial generation take up a decent sized chunk of the US population. They
are also referred to as the iGeneration or Gen Tech. You rarely hear of this generation as they are
usually overshadowed by the previous gen (Millennials). But Gen Z ers are a group all their own.
George Beall of the Huffington Post states that Gen Z processes information faster... Thus their
attention spans might be significantly lower than Millennials but that despite being less focused as
compared to Millennials Gen Z can quickly and efficiently shift between work and play, with multiple
distractions going on in the background . I can personally see myself a little in this, I have a terribly
short attention span but I can t really multitask. Beall also states that Generation Z desires more
independent work environments , implying that they lean more towards entrepreneurial work. I can t
relate to this, I thrive off of at least a little structure, I m not good in the

The Historical And Contemporary Importance Of Francis Of...
The most popular saint in history, Francis of Assisi s life is shrouded in as much legend as it is fact.
However, the influence of Francis or the monastic order he founded cannot be disputed. Born into
great wealth and influence during the Middle Ages, Francis turned down such comforts instead taking
up a life of poverty and ministry. In less than two decades of ministry, Francis was able to leave a
legacy that continues to influence the Church today. The following will show the historical and
contemporary importance of Francis of Assisi by examining his unique life, his founding of the
Franciscan Order and his ongoing influence in the life of the Church. Saint Francis of Assisi was born
Giovanni Bernardone around 1182 in Assisi, Italy to Peter (Pietro) Bernardone, a wealthy Italian cloth
merchant, and his wife Pica. When Francis was born Peter was away in France on business and his
mother baptized him as Giovanni. Upon his return, Peter gave Giovanni the name Francesco (Francis).
Francis received some limited formal education, but this was supplemented with practical education
received while accompanying his father on his many business journeys. Francis lived the typical life
of a wealthy young man and aspired to be a knight. He was quite the character and always desired to
rise about the common place. A major turning point began in his life when in 1202, he joined a
military expedition against Perugia. The forces from Assisi were defeated during which he was

The Cry For God In Anne Bradstreet s Burning House
Worry ends when faith in God begins. Faith has been a part of history since the beginning of time and
has remained constant throughout life today. Anne Bradstreet s poem, Burning House , examines pure
faith and the cry for God s love in a time of need. Alongside of the poem from 1666, the movie
Courageous , produced by Stephen Kendrick, represents during a tragedy, it is not always easy to keep
a focused mind on the Lord, but the most significant way to be led through a tough time, is to praise
the Lord. Anne Bradstreet s poem and the movie Courageous , shows the relentless love from the Lord
in a time of an aching heart. Anne Bradstreet s poem, Here Follow Some Verses upon the Burning of
Our House, July 10th, 1666 , heavily shows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This deep tragedy in Adam s life left him in the realization of what kind of father he should be to his
son, and the path he is on with God. I will forgive those who have wronged. I will learn from my
mistakes, repent of my sins, and walk with integrity as a man answerable to God... As for me and my
house, we will serve the Lord (Kendrick). In a desperate time of grief, Adam chooses forgiveness to
those in the wronging toward Adam and his family. There is no significance to ignoring another s sins,
because God forgives all who have sinned. After Adam s daughter passed, God proved to Adam that
repenting will only lead to a burdened life and heart, but forgiveness of yourself and others will lead to
the gates of heaven. I now believe that God desires for every father to courageously step up and do
whatever it takes to be involved in the lives of his children...young lives and be a visual representation
of the character of God, their father in heaven (Kendrick). In a time of grief and heartache, it can be
difficult to reveal the reason God has brought a certain burden to life. Adam found his answer through
God, which was to live life as a follower of Jesus and to raise his children through the knowledge of
the Lord while being a visual representation of Him.
From religion in the 1600 s to religion today in pop culture, the love of faith and God has not changed.
Both the movie, and the poem

  • 3. The Collapse Of The Housing Crisis Economists cite a plethora of reasons on why the Global Financial Crisis started. However, most economists can agree that the bursting of the U.S housing bubble, irresponsibility practiced by regulators and financiers, greed of banks, lack of leadership from central banks, complex chains of debt, and the credit crunch led to what is referred to as the largest crisis since the Great Depression. The collapse of the housing bubble, which peaked in 2004, in the United States is usually cited as the initial trigger of the crisis. The beginning of the bubble was due to the readily available credit in the U.S. that was fueled by a large influx of foreign funds following the Russian debt crisis and Asian financial crisis. Real estate prices also plummeted, and interest rates rose sharply from 1% to 5.35%. The devaluation of homes caused them to be worth less than their mortgage loan, giving consumers an incentive to foreclose on their mortgages. In addition, homeowners that were barely able to afford mortgage payments while interest rates were low were suddenly slapped in the face with the hike in interest rates, which also caused them to default on their mortgages. This phenomenon, dubbed the foreclosure epidemic , drained wealth from other consumers and weakened the financial strength of banks. Banks and investors that had borrowed and invested heavily in subprime mortgage backed securities also incurred significant amounts of debt or losses with the burst of the housing bubble, adding to the severity with which the collapse of this credit driven bubble affected the world economy. With the collapse the housing bubble and the value of asset prices, banks began to doubt the viability of their counterparties. Without trust, which is the ultimate glue of all financial systems, banks stopped lending, which is the exact opposite of what banks are supposed to do. • 4. Sewage Reclamation And Wastewater Reclamation Introduction: Need for wastewater reclamation Wastewater reclamation is the process whereby wastewater is treated using physical, chemical and even biological methods, so that the effluent obtained can be used again, providing that it meets a series of parameters which varies according to its use. The need for wastewater reclamation has increased due to the ever increasing demand for water which has led to a rise in water stress both in terms of quality and quantity of water (Gerke S., 2001). With wastewater reuse the water stress will be alleviated. Constructed wetlands provide a cheaper and environmentally friendly means of treating wastewater so that it can be reused (Kivaisi K. A., 2001). Constructed wetlands makes use of the naturally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... T. C., 2006). The wastewater reclamation can also be classified based on the constructed wetlands used for their treatment. Constructed wetlands can be divided into two major groups, namely surface flow or sub surface flow. The latter can be further sub divided into vertical or horizontal flow. There are many more types of wetlands available but the ones above are the main ones currently in use. Criteria for wastewater reuse Wastewater contains a host of physical, chemical and biological components, it is therefore primordial to have standards which govern the usage of the treated wastewater. Since the treated wastewater can have different uses such as for irrigation, in industries or even aquifer recharge, different standards are required. The restricted agriculture irrigation means that the crops irrigated must imperatively be cooked before consumption and therefore require less stringent parameters. Another use which does not require stringent parameters is industrial cooling, as there is less chance of humans coming into contact with the treated wastewater. The origin of the wastewater is another determining factor in terms of criteria which must be met before wastewater can be used again. For example, wastewater obtained from certain industries (textile) may contain heavy metals which may be harmful to humans and other organisms alike (Salgot M., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Demand Curve and Supply Curve Literature Review Demand and supply have been generalized to explain macroeconomic variables in a market economy. The Aggregate Demand Aggregate Supply model is the most direct application of supply and demand to macroeconomics. Compared to microeconomic uses of demand and supply, different theoretical considerations apply to such macroeconomic counterparts as aggregate demand and aggregate supply. The AD AS or Aggregate Demand Aggregate Supply model is a macroeconomic model that explains price level and output through the relationship of aggregate demand and aggregate supply. It is based on the theory of John Maynard Keynes presented in his work The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money . It is one of the primary simplified ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The vertical axis is the price level. The horizontal axis is output or income. The short run aggregate supply curve is downward sloping with slope equal to (1/a) while the long run aggregate supply curve is vertical with no slope. The reason that the short term aggregate supply curve is upward sloping is a bit more complex. Factors that determine the slope of AD AS curve model The slope of AD curve reflects the extent to which the real balances change the equilibrium level of spending, taking both assets and goods markets into consideration. An increase in real balances will lead to a larger increase in equilibrium income and spending, the smaller the interest responsiveness of money demand and the higher the interest responsiveness of investment demand. An increase in real balances leads to a larger level of income and spending, the larger the value of multiplier and the smaller the income response of money demand. This implies that the AD curve is flatter, smaller is the interest responsiveness of the demand for money and larger is the interest responsiveness of investment demand. Also, the AD curve is flatter; the larger is the multiplier and the smaller the income responsiveness of the demand for money. • 8. Ex Machina Analysis As technology rapidly advances, the notion of artificial intelligence is becoming less of a science fiction pipe dream, and more of a reality for our future. In his film, Ex Machina, Alex Garland takes a thoughtful approach to the question of what it is to be an artificially conscious being. Throughout the movie, Ava demonstrates many human like behaviors, yet nothing to indicate that she is clearly conscious. Nathan s ultimate test for Ava s sentience is whether she develops any actual feelings for Caleb or attempts to manipulate Caleb into letting her escape. Nathan explains that to do either of these she must use self awareness, imagination, sexuality, and empathy to get Caleb to like her (Ex Machina 1:15). While Ava did demonstrate many ... While Pollock s painting was created through emotion and feeling with no actual thought going into it, Ava s painting was entirely pre visualized; she painted exactly what she sees when she closes her eyes. While seemingly inconsequential, Garland uses the paintings to convey the idea that the human mind and artificial mind are very different and ultimately do not function in the same way. While the conscious mind can act on emotional sensation, the programmed mind can only act on observation. Garland further emphasizes this point through the film s setting. Nathan s house is a sleek, futuristic laboratory in the middle of a lush forest. Garland uses this stark contrast in setting to represent differing origins, the forest where humans evolved and the lab where AI was created. Once again, these completely different settings gave rise to two very different forms of intelligence, the innate, sentient consciousness of the human mind, and the programmed, unfeeling intelligence of Ava. Forget crime for a second. Think back to a time when you felt out of place. Was it arriving at an event overdressed, or underdressed? In class being unsure of yourself? Visiting a foreign country? In these situations, our first instinct is to look to others. What is the majority doing? I ll copy them. If a situation is ambiguous, we become unsure of ourselves, and when we re unsure of ourselves, we re not likely to act on instinct. Instead, we desire to conform. Say you re at the beach. Someone is splashing around in the water. You re unsure whether or not they re in danger and are unsure what to do. You begin looking around to judge how others are responding to the situation. If they seem calm, you assume the person is just playing around. But if they look panicked, you will take the situation more seriously. Instinct is cast aside because if we follow what everyone else s doing, they can t all be wrong, right? It s not my responsibility. The more people present in a given situation, the less responsible I feel for whatever plays out. Similarly, the more witnesses there are at a crime scene, the less likely we are to help. There is a diffusion of responsibility, which prevents us from taking action. If we re the only person standing witness to a crime, we d feel like it s 100% our responsibility to get help. The journey of immigrating to the United States consisted of many obstacles and hardships. Chinese Americans have been in this country for centuries, and still remain one of the smallest minority minorities. To this day, they are still perceived as foreigners in the eyes of other Americans, and have been victimized for their successes. To gain a deeper understanding of Chinese immigration, we must look at the Chinese American experience of immigrant jobs, exclusion and discrimination, and the model minority stereotype. The first wave of Chinese immigrants arrived during the gold rush era. These immigrants were mostly young men that found work as ploughmen, laundrymen, placer miners, woolen spinners and weavers, domestic servants, cigar makers, shoe makers, and railroad builders (Lee 71). Many immigrants came during this period because the United States provided economic opportunities these immigrants were seeking. For others, coming the United States meant achieving the Gold Mountain Dream, which was to earn money and return back home rich (Lee 66). Chinese workers also ran their own business. • 21. Sunset Howard Dishonesty Quotes Sunset Boulevard is a film noir movie that was released in 1950. When looked at, the main character Joe Gillis, portrayed by William Holden, can be seen as an anti hero. Joe shows his anti heroic behavior in many ways. For example, he is dishonest, he uses the people around him, and he also is only focused on elevating himself. One of the many examples of the dishonesty of Joe. One of the most notable examples of his is when he meets Norma Desmond, portrayed by Gloria Swanson. He starts out being noble by telling her that she should rethink let him look over the script, however, he quickly becomes crooked. He tells her falsehoods to try and extort money out of her. This transforms into him taking advantage of the situation. He starts by taking advantage of Norma as the movie continues. Again, Joe starts being somewhat noble by trying to tell Norma that he does not need to move into the house but stay at his apartment. But, this changes when Norma tells him that everything has been paid for. He quickly drops the argument and starts to live there. He also lets her buy him fancy suits and gifts without much if any argument. It can also be seen that he is more concerned about the money and his elevating status ... • 22. A Befriended Brother in Mansfield Park by Jane Austen William Price is well regarded in Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. He is the brother of Fanny Price, whom is the main character of the novel. Fanny is taken in by her uncle, Sir Thomas Bertram and leaves her biological family, which is both unfortunate as well as fortunate for Fanny. By living with the Bertrams, she is allowed a better education and to be raised in a higher form of etiquette due to the fact that her family did not have as much money as the Bertrams did. The ill fated part of her story is that she must leave her brother, William who, in the result, gains access into the navy because of his connections with Fanny s adopted family. Jane Austen writes a novel that both pushes at the romantic standards that women had to obey to while also focusing on a great deal of love within the family. The love that Fanny has for her brother right until the end of the novel is striking and heart warming. William is the older brother that every little sister wants to look up to, he is not only an idol to Fanny but a role model to the readers of the narrative. Austen creates characters to dislike and characters that convey emotion. Lady Bertram is one character of which the reader s dislike does not stop for due to her mean attitude towards Fanny and the fact that she is almost constantly sitting on the couch with her pug, which she treats as if she loves more than her own children. Other characters, such as William, allow for the novel to not be one of complete hate amongst ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Coding provides identification for specific themes in the data. Individual responses will be listed then consolidated into exclusive numeric codes for each specific category. Each code will illustrate each possible outcome by categorizing answers through similarities. Data entry for closed ended questions will be simpler, because only three of the questions were open ended. Most patterns can be realized through the closed ended questions. Time can be saved and biased can be removed by analyzing each individual response and categorizing them by identifying patterns and giving them codes. Open ended questions can be coded and filtered to be analyzed as well through similarities. Coding is important, because results can be more easily checked through subgroups than individual answers per respondent. Once codes are set, the next step is to enter the numeric codes. Individual responses should be consolidated into the numeric codes in order to make the results easier to analyze. Child day care centers are found in all kinds of areas whether it is a small or large town or building. Many are commercial ventures but enough are found inside the homes of your average family. • 26. Juvenile Justice Juvenile justice has traditionally followed a punitive model when faced with young transgressors. Most juvenile justice departments have then also followed this model, creating a system that is in effect not only separate from the community, but also from the family unit. Many juvenile offenders are then physically removed both from their communities and their families to be incarcerated into punitive institutions. According to the Balanced and Restorative Justice model, however, accountability is best encouraged with the direct involvement of both the community and the family unit (U.S. Dept. of Justice). This is also the case with young John Black, whose offense was possession of a fire arm, although this did not lead to any actual harm to others. He is therefore an excellent candidate for family and community based programs, helping him to learn accountability and find his place in society in an effective and productive way. Probation in juvenile justice has a very specific role. The first important thing to keep in mind is the underlying reasons for crimes committed by youth and the importance of distinguishing this from the reasons why adults would engage in criminal activity (King County, 2012). As such, the Juvenile Probation Office regards accountability as important when young people like John commit crimes, but it is also important to prevent further delinquent activity. All of the colonies with the exception of Georgia were formed by people trying to escape some form of persecution. One of the main contributive factors to the American Revolution was the Intolerable Acts (or otherwise known in Great Britian as the Coercive Acts); which included the Boston Port Act, the Massachusetts Government Act, the Administration of Justice Act, and the Quartering Act. The Boston Port Act was passed by parliament on March 31, 1774. This Act was designed to punish the inhabitants of Boston, Massachusetts for the incident that would later become known as the Boston Tea Party. The British Parliament demanded that the city s residents pay for the nearly $1 million worth (in today s money) of tea dumped in to Boston Harbor during the Boston Tea Party. This act closed the port of Boston so tightly that the colonists could not even bring hay in from Charlestown to give to their starving horses. Only food and firewood were permitted into the port. Over the next three months the United States, along with Cuban Rebels waged war against the Spanish forces in hopes of returning the Cuban lands back to its people. President McKinley who was pressured into war by yellow press, sent American forces into battle which ultimately led to the birth of a western hemispheric super power, the United States. The sinking of the USS Maine, the use of yellow press journalism, and the national uproar and motivation is what drove the Americans to victory. Valeriano Weyler, the Spanish General in Cuba, started a campaign called Subjugation or Death. This bloody campaign was Spain s attempt to force the local people into slavery. Filled with concentration camps, burning villages and murdering Cubans, this campaign took the lives of over 200,000 Cuban people. Since Spain was aware that the US had sympathy towards the Cuban rebels this endangered the lives of American citizens living there. Despite a vast number of the laws passed within Nazi Germany and then Nazi occupied Europe being applicable to the Jewry of Germany, and Europe it is clear that it was not exclusively for the Jews and the effect of this was not worse for one or another. However, this essay endeavours to discuss the main characteristics of the Nazi policies on the Jewish population and it is easy to see that the main characteristic was exclusion aided by terror, which only appeared to brew with the well established feelings of anti Semitism and become increasingly more extreme. However it is important to acknowledge the debate around the subject, as suggested by Wildt it is important to not willingly accept and adopt the school of thought as a clear cut unfolding of Nazi policy, where he suggests that anti Semitism has been a part of Germanic life for centuries and not a product of the regime. Before going into the characteristics of the policies of the Nazi party it is important to understand about the origins of the party itself and therefore the origins of the party s anti Semitic nature. Expansion Essay Our report examined Foxy s U.S. expansion, which is occurring due to oversaturation in Canada, and whether it should be executed by use of a trade show distribution strategy with high fixed costs, or a sales representative distribution strategy with low fixed costs. With trade shows, the two founders will be able to show their own energy and passion for their work, while networking with relevant American industry leaders. However, they would be competing for attention with thousands of other booths, making it essential to capture the attention of retailers. Furthermore, the time commitment to trade shows could dilute the attention they pay to their Canadian Foxy brand. Sales representatives would have an easier time entering the market which could lead to quicker profits. While it would initially be less of a time commitment to hire sales representatives, it would remain an ongoing commitment to monitor the representatives and find new representatives if necessary. The high fixed cost nature of trade shows will make it more difficult for Foxy to break even. However, this will ensure a higher contribution margin which could leads to larger profits after breaking even. This, combatted with a wider variation of potential orders, leads to an unpredictable operating income that could easily exceed Foxy s goals or miss it by a lot. This strategy would involve a higher operating leverage, which would enable Foxy to see a larger increase in profit as sales increase. Conversely, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Global Problem Of Global Trade Essay There is no doubt that the importance of global trade is one of the most integral aspects out of which human beings began their dominance of this planet. If history books tell us anything, it is that the some of the most important and powerful countries had their beginnings in early global trade. One of the most well known countries which took to the high seas in their venture to dominate global trade is Portugal. Their story has been told and re told time and time again, always positioning them as a leader during the Age of Discovery, a time in which finding the fastest overseas trade routes for items such as spices lead to other discoveries as well. Portugal s role in the global illegal trafficking of drugs and human beings is a controversial and hot button issue on a multitude of socio political levels. While their inclusion into this dark world is by no means voluntary, their participation in the illegal trafficking trade is a symptom of what could arguably be considered one of their leading characteristics which allowed them to dominant the Golden Era; geographic positionality. • 42. The Mysteries Of Udolpho, Frankenstein, And The Rime Of... Ghostly evocations of terror, decrepit castles and manors, villainous tyrants bent on destruction...and witty dialogue laced with irony and satire speaking of matchmaking, fall fashions and the propriety of social actions? Pre dash, the elements of Gothic fiction permeate and resonate throughout the Romantic era and are included in analysis of many such fiction and prose. The Mysteries of Udolpho, Frankenstein, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, etc. display said aspects and can be considered works of true Gothic horror. Emily St. Aubert (from Udolpho) acts in the Gothic fashion when, examining the secret chambers of the deceased Marchioness, she witnesses the supernatural apparition rising above the resting place and subsequently fleeing in terror. Such is not said when Elizabeth Bennet refuses the wedding proposal from Fitzwilliam Darcy. To most, Pride and Prejudice is a work of romance and social satire; an apex in wit and dialogue. There are no spectres at Pemberley nor is there an insatiable tyrant or haunted castle at Derbyshire. However, there is a sense of fear amongst many of the characters. The houses are often large and hiding a painful secret. And love, at least between a few, transcends the boundary into the supernatural; or at least has elements thereof. Contrary to its popular, and overly common, definition and perception, I will argue that Austen s Pride and Prejudice (hereon referred to as P P) is an established piece of Gothic fiction, as it ... • 43. Milleneration And Generation Z And The Post-Millennial... Millennials are defined to have been born somewhere between the mid to late 80s till the early to mid 90s, whereas Generation Z is characterized to have been born between 1995 till about now. Therein lies a large area for differences between the two generations. I was born on the tail end of 1999 meaning I was technically born in the Gen Z era, but I sometimes see myself relating to Millennials I see online or in mainstream media. I will discuss both generations and then decide where I most see myself. Generation Z, the Post Millennial generation take up a decent sized chunk of the US population. They are also referred to as the iGeneration or Gen Tech. You rarely hear of this generation as they are usually overshadowed by the previous gen (Millennials). But Gen Z ers are a group all their own. George Beall of the Huffington Post states that Gen Z processes information faster... Thus their attention spans might be significantly lower than Millennials but that despite being less focused as compared to Millennials Gen Z can quickly and efficiently shift between work and play, with multiple distractions going on in the background . I can personally see myself a little in this, I have a terribly short attention span but I can t really multitask. Beall also states that Generation Z desires more independent work environments , implying that they lean more towards entrepreneurial work. I can t relate to this, I thrive off of at least a little structure, I m not good in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Historical And Contemporary Importance Of Francis Of... The most popular saint in history, Francis of Assisi s life is shrouded in as much legend as it is fact. However, the influence of Francis or the monastic order he founded cannot be disputed. Born into great wealth and influence during the Middle Ages, Francis turned down such comforts instead taking up a life of poverty and ministry. In less than two decades of ministry, Francis was able to leave a legacy that continues to influence the Church today. The following will show the historical and contemporary importance of Francis of Assisi by examining his unique life, his founding of the Franciscan Order and his ongoing influence in the life of the Church. Saint Francis of Assisi was born Giovanni Bernardone around 1182 in Assisi, Italy to Peter (Pietro) Bernardone, a wealthy Italian cloth merchant, and his wife Pica. When Francis was born Peter was away in France on business and his mother baptized him as Giovanni. Upon his return, Peter gave Giovanni the name Francesco (Francis). Francis received some limited formal education, but this was supplemented with practical education received while accompanying his father on his many business journeys. Francis lived the typical life of a wealthy young man and aspired to be a knight. He was quite the character and always desired to rise about the common place. A major turning point began in his life when in 1202, he joined a military expedition against Perugia. The forces from Assisi were defeated during which he was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In a desperate time of grief, Adam chooses forgiveness to those in the wronging toward Adam and his family. There is no significance to ignoring another s sins, because God forgives all who have sinned. After Adam s daughter passed, God proved to Adam that repenting will only lead to a burdened life and heart, but forgiveness of yourself and others will lead to the gates of heaven. I now believe that God desires for every father to courageously step up and do whatever it takes to be involved in the lives of his children...young lives and be a visual representation of the character of God, their father in heaven (Kendrick). In a time of grief and heartache, it can be difficult to reveal the reason God has brought a certain burden to life.
