Invasive Species Threatens The Ecosystem
Invasive Species Threatens the Ecosystem Every life form all over the world depends on the
ecosystem for its survival. However, the ecosystem can be threatened when there is an excess or drop
in resources. Many people will argue that human beings are the primary cause of this economic
imbalance but are people the root of this problem? No. There is evidence that invasive species all over
the country has also threatened our ecosystem. Invasive species are any living organism such a plants,
fungus, insects, and fish just to name a few. Invasive species pose a threat to wildlife in many ways. (
National Wildlife Federation, 2009) states species brought into an atmosphere that doesn t have any
predators are considered dangerous. They often breed and spread rapidly, assuming control over a
region. Local untamed life has no advanced safeguards against the trespasser, and they stand no
chance against species that has no predators (p.2). Furthermore, these species invade areas that they
aren t indigenous to and reproduce quickly. To further understand the underlying crux of invasive
species and how this matter may come to fruition, I will provide an analogy of an article that addresses
this problem, by summarizing and identifying the negative impact invasive species have on the
ecosystem. Today, some may say that human beings are the reason invasive species prevail. According
to Bright (1999), Obtrusive species are being transported through the worldwide

The Change Is Unexpected Or Planned Departure Of A Chief...
Every nonprofit organization undergoes leadership changes at some point. Whether the change is
unexpected or planned, it can result in a period of dangerous organizational uncertainty or offer
opportunities for greater accomplishments. Without a transition plan in place, a sudden or planned
departure of a chief executive officer, chief financial officer or other upper management official can
seriously degrade the performance of a nonprofit organization. Experienced transition leadership and
adequate planning will minimize disruption and maintain the mission of the organization, as well as
offer the possibilities of further growth and development.
More than 3,000 executives of nonprofit organizations participated in a national study conducted by
CompassPoint and the Meyer Foundation in 2011 (Cornelius, Moyers, Bell, 2011, p. 2). Sixty seven
percent of these executives indicated they plan on leaving their organizations within five years (See
Table). In addition, this survey revealed that despite 15 years of attention to the issue, a number of key
practices associated with effective executive transition are not widespread. Executives and boards are
still reluctant to talk proactively about succession and just 17% of organizations have a documented
succession plan (Cornelius et al., 2011, p. 3).
When adding unexpected executive departures to these statistics, the ramifications of insufficient
transitional planning are alarming. It was reported in the news

The Dream Of A Detroit Man Named Berry Gordy
Every year, tens of thousands of people come to Detroit, Michigan with hopes of getting a glimpse of
Hitsville U.S.A. Since 1985, the recording studio that once produced and made the dreams of many
famous singers a reality has been a popular tourist attraction, known as Motown Museum. Motown
Museum is open five days a week to local and international visitors. Visitors are given a tour through
Studio A, where they can stand in the same room in which their favorite Motown artist stood.
Additionally, visitors also tour the newly renovated upper flat that Berry Gordy and his family lived in
during the early part of the company s years. This beautiful place that appears to be frozen in time and
conveniently located in the exact same spot where it all began, started from the dream of a Detroit
man named Berry Gordy.
During the 1950s African Americans were plagued by discrimination and injustice. For example,
Sugrue (1996) states, housing was a well sought after necessity by new migrants, rapidly growing
postwar families, returning veterans, and people displaced by urban redevelopment and highway
projects.(p. 52) Essentially, all of these people were typically the ones who had limited if not income
at all. Additionally, once the housing market slowly began to open in the mid 50s, advertising for
available units discriminated against minorities by specifying the want for white tenants only .

The workers needs to have a direct discussion/questioning and work collaboratively with the family to
identify their problems and extract their needs for the problems. The workers need to use appropriate
English and avoid speaking too fast so that the family would understand what they are saying, this is
because of the different accents, different cultural backgrounds and Alethea s inability to speak fluent
English. The workers need to actively listen to the family and encourage them to tell their stories, this
can be achieved by building rapport and using the appropriate communication strategies. For example
the workers need to show concern and interest, be empathetic, respect the client and see the issues

It reached Europe in 1347. In a few years up to 50 percent of the population died, with higher
mortality rates in urban areas. It returned every few years for centuries. Reactions differed. Some
escaped into alcohol, sex, and crime. Others, believing the Black Death to be a punishment from God,
attempted to atone for their sins through self inflicted pain. The Jews became scapegoats. People fled,
carrying the plague with them. The resulting labor shortage could benefit peasants, although the
demand for products was also reduced. When the ruling classes reduced wage rates there were peasant
revolts. The ruling classes quelled the revolts, but social upheaval continued to plague the post plague
world. Wars were also part of the crisis, notably the Hundred Years War between England and France.
In 1328 the French Capetian line ended. England s Edward III (d.1377) claimed the French throne, but
a cousin to the Capets, Philip of Valois, became king (d.1350). War soon began. Armored knights on
horseback were the backbone of medieval armies, but English peasants using the longbow had begun
to change the face of war. When the French king was captured, a treaty was signed in 1360: France
agreed to pay ransom, the English received land in France, and Edward renounced his claim to the
throne. Using guerilla tactics, the French regained their lands, but in 1415 England s Henry V (d.1422)

The Boston Tea Party
Albany Plan was a plan to create a unified government for the Thirteen Colonies. It was proposed by
Benjamin Franklin whose desire was to create a unified nation, for the people of America. He realized
the chaos of a non official government system and proposed that they establish a presidential position,
who was paid by the king, as well as a grand council, which he said would be elected by the
assemblies of the colonies. However, this plan was not approved as the French and Indian war had
already begun.

In Mississippi, plantations arose similar to those in the southern colonies in that black slaves provided
the labor and were owned by the Creoles. In 1718, New Orleans was one of the largest cities that

the French.
Currency Act was any of several Acts of the Parliament of Great Britain that regulated paper money

of eliminating, or minimizing the use of paper.
Daughters of Liberty consisted of women who displayed their patriotism by participating in boycotts
of British goods following the passage of the Townshend Acts. After the Tea Act was passed, women
banded together to write and perform plays that exemplified the resentment of the colonies, while
proving the prominent roles and necessity of women in resistance activities. They also proved that
they would rather heart with tea, then with their freedom. Best provoke women to think of alternatives

Volunteer Service In American Society
In American society, helping those that are less fortunate has always served as one of our core values.
Benjamin Franklin is credited as the first volunteer when he founded a volunteer firefighting company
in 1736. During the Civil War, Ladies Aid Societies came together providing linen for bandages,
wrappings, and many other cloth items. Often times, the volunteer willingly makes concessions in
their own schedule to help others or provide services for charitable organizations. What motivates the
volunteer to sacrifice their own time in the service of others? In this paper, I will address a variety of
factors that drive the individual to give back to their community. Volunteering not only provides great

The Performance Of Classical Music
Classical music has been played in many different venues, with many different instruments, in many
different time periods so it is very interesting to compare all of the performances. The performance I
went was definitely very different from how the music would ve been played when the composers first
wrote them. The 200 year difference allows me to explore all of the unique aspects that both the first
performance and my current performance added to the experience that classical music concerts.
Although concerts of the 1800s and 2000s differ because of venue, musician popularity, and finances,
they have similarities in style, audience reaction and musician interpretation.

When looking through many different volumes of the publication The Musical Times and Singing
Class Circular I was able to read about the most recent concerts that happened within the month that
the journal came out.5 Composers who were around during that time had some of their first
performances of pieces published as well as people like Mozart and Beethoven were having their
pieces played by famous musicians of the time.15 Classical music was the most popular played back
then so they did not need a non profit organization to start a concert series to expose people to the

In the nineteenth century, composers and musicians were treated like the pop stars of the twenty first
century are treated today. They only play at large venues with many people watching and they get the
VIP treatment before after and during their performance.4 Sadly, however, the venue I went to and the
way the musicians were treated was much more casual it can almost be compared to the open mic
night of today. The venue was a small church and there were only two musicians, a cellist and a
pianist. People were able to sit right next to the cellist since his seat was in the middle of the isle. After

The Rise And Fall Of Italian Fascism
Introduction.
The rise and fall of Italian Fascism is important to the history of modern Italy because of its lasting
influence. It has shaped and affected many areas of Italian society, such as its economy, politics, and
social communication. Negative views toward the government and high levels of unemployment
preceding this time led to the rise in right wing politics and Fascism has made lasting impacts on the
right wing parties still in existence today. This literature review will discuss the rise and fall of fascism
in Italy through Adrian Lyttelton s The Seizure of Power; Fascism in Italy, 1919 1929, the radical right
wing as a consequence of fascism through Franco Farreresi s Threats to Democracy: The Radical
Right in Italy after the War, and the lasting impact of the fascist political era on contemporary Italian

Summary Of The Song Concrete Angel
While child abuse can indirectly cause obesity, it is often directly responsible for child death. The
Song Concrete Angel written by Martina McBride illustrates the pain and hardships of a child who
was abused, neglected and then died. McBride explains the fear and the worry the child felt each day
and then reminds listeners that many abused children don t even live to adulthood. Often times, the
long term effect of child abuse and neglect is death. She argues that people need to do more to help
those that are abused when she sings She hides the bruises with the linen and lace, oh/The teacher

The Leaders And Servant Leaders
Different types of leaders have different traits such as a narcissistic leader is egotistical; self absorbing
who basically is only concerned with their wants and needs. Covenant leaders are moral, ethical and
humbly put others before themselves. Then there are the servant leaders who believe they are there to
provide service to others. Anyone can be a leader, but it is in how they lead which determines the traits
they carry and use. Their purpose is to lead successfully so that others may follow in their footsteps.
Traits of a leader can be described as dimensions of individual differences in tendencies to show
consistent patterns of thoughts, feelings, and actions (Nichols, 2016, para.5). Some are risk takers,
some look forward to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The best test is:
Do those served grow as persons; do they, while being served, become healthier, wiser, freer, more
autonomous, more likely themselves to become servants? (Mittal Dorfman, 2012 para.7).
Servant leaders are much like mentors and teachers they believe in building strong relationships and
bonds with those they work with or in their ways of thinking work for. Servant leaders find the best in
people and try to bring that out in them so they develop ways to grow their self and their skills/talents.
Servant leaders have a way of looking out for the needs of others, and do what they can to help and
meet those needs.
These types of leaders have the ability to teach and inspire belonging, esteem, and self actualization,
are about an employee feeling valued to do their best work, make a difference, and be appreciated and
respected by others for their contribution (Mertel Brill, 2015, para.5). This also can help in job
satisfaction with the employees and when the employees feel happy and their work valued, they have
the tendency to stay with the job for longer periods of time. servant leadership begins with a clear and
compelling vision of the future that excites passion in the leader and commitment in those who follow
(Blanchard Hodges, 2007 p. 45). Traits of Servant leadership

The Development Of English Literature In The Middle Ages
The middle ages refer to the time span approximately from the collapse of the Roman Empire to the
Renaissance. English literature in the Middle Ages, covering works of more than eight hundred years
from Caedmon s Hymn(ca.658 80) to Everyman (ca.1510), evolved with the development of English
language. In accordance of language development and historical watersheds, literature history consists
of three periods: Anglo Saxon England, Anglo Norman England and Middle English literature in the
fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Literary works in the Middles Ages all rooted in the Christian
culture given that the introduction of Christianity is the most significant event in the cultural history of
this period.
Literary works in the time of Anglo Saxon England were composed in old English, a language that is
extremely difficult to be understood, which leads to the consequence that literacy was restricted to
religious personnel. As a matter of course, Old English literature is mostly influenced by Christianity
and Latin Civilization. And as The Norton Anthology points out that in form and content Old English

Essay On Reflective Reflection
I was nominated for this course of study by the Criminology and Criminal Justice department at
Glyndwr University. Once receiving notification I was both pleasantly surprised and excited. This is in
part due to my previous credentials which include professional experience in leadership roles in the
hospitality industry, beauty industry and welfare to work sector. Based on my working history, the
course is everything I expected it to be as I have always had a keen interest for gaining a better
understanding of myself and others. My only criticism, is that I personally feel I would have gained
more from the course by discussing the topics in more depth, therefore perhaps a course of longer
duration may have been more beneficial for me.
I have had the pleasure of meeting some really fascinating guest speakers, all of whom enthused an
infectious enthusiasm and passion for personal and business development through their insightful and
inspiring accounts. However, this essay will focus exclusively on providing a reflective statement by
making reference to the team working conducted via the group assignment and will discuss the
concepts most relevant to collaborative working and reflective practice. In addition, this essay will
seek to reflect upon individual preconceptions and supply recommendations for applying theory to
practice within my personal and professional life. This process involves utilising The Model of

The Importance Of Public Transportation In Urban
Public transportation in rural areas of course operate to serve communities and individuals that live
and work outside of urban areas. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the need for
rural public transportation has historically been linked with providing mobility and accessibility to
essential employment, goods, and services for older adults, persons with disabilities, low income
persons, and others. Perhaps surprisingly, nearly 10% of rural public transportation trips were for
residents seeking medical attention. The public transportation s remaining rides in rural areas provide
transport for employment and education as well as for social and recreational activities where
residents might not otherwise be inclined or even able to participate in these endeavors. According to
the National Association for State Community Services Programs, low income workers and
households typically reside either in rural locations or in city centers, with modern jobs emerging
further and further away from either of these two locations. For rural Americans and for this reason,
public transportation offers the opportunity to access a better job and a better life. All over the country
rural transportation services have developed to serve the rural communities and the citizens that live in
these areas. According to the Community Transportation Association of America, in 2014 over 1400
agencies provide public transportation in rural and small towns.

Regulatory Bodies of the Education Sector
Explain the roles of regulatory bodies relevant to the education sector which exists to monitor the
legislative framework.
In this essay I plan to define what a regulatory body is, giving examples of the most prominent ones. I
will then highlight the regulatory bodies which are relevant to the education sector which exist to
monitor the legislative framework, with discussion of the role of each and how they affect the school.
WHAT IS A REGULATORY BODY
A regulatory agency (also regulatory authority, regulatory body or regulator) is a public authority or
government agency responsible for exercising autonomous authority over some area of human activity
in a regulatory or supervisory capacity. An independent regulatory agency is a regulatory agency that
is independent from other branches or arms of the government. (Wikipedia)
Regulatory bodies are set up because there are laws and they ensure legislation is implemented. Some
of the most prominent regulatory bodies would be OFSTED, Office for Fair Trading, Food Standards
Agency, Advertising Standards, Financial Conduct Authority, Civil Aviation Authority, and General
Medical Council.
Regulatory bodies relevant to the education section include; Ofsted (Office for Standards in
Education)/ETI (Education and Training Inspectorate in Northern Ireland), Food Standards Agency,

The Proteins Of Carbohydrates And Carbohydrates
Introduction
Carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids are organic molecules found in every living
organism. These macromolecules are large carbon based structures. The macromolecules are
assembled by joining several smaller units, called monomers, together through a chemical reaction
called dehydration synthesis. The resulting polymer can be disassembled through the complementary
process called hydrolysis.Carbohydrates are made of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms in a 1:2:1
ratio. This means that for every carbon atom present in the carbohydrate there are two hydrogen atoms
and one oxygen atom present. The monomers for carbohydrates are referred to as monosaccharides.
When many monosaccharides are chained together the resulting molecule is called a polysaccharide.
Carbohydrates are used by living organisms as an important source of energy. Examples of
carbohydrates include glucose, fructose, sucrose, galactose, ribose, deoxyribose, cellulose and
chitin.Lipids are also made of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen but the ratio of carbon, hydrogen, and
oxygen is not 1:2:1. Instead, lipids have a much higher number of carbons and hydrogens with few
oxygen atoms present. The nonpolar bonds that form between the carbon and hydrogen atoms of a
lipid cause them to be hydrophobic, or water repellent, molecules. This explains why water and oil do
not mix. The large number of carbon to hydrogen bonds also serves to make lipids energy rich storage
molecules. One gram of lipid stores

The Causes and Effects of Gender Imbalance in Asia
The Causes and Effects of Gender Imbalance in Asia
By Tom Farrer Throughout this paper I will focus on the phenomenon of the gender imbalance in
Asia. I will begin by assessing the current situation and researching the various causes which have led
to it. I shall then analyse the possible consequences to follow and conclude with an outlook to the
future.
According to the United Nations the recommended sex ratio at birth (SRB) for a country is 107,
meaning that for every 100 females born, 107 males are born . The average SRB for industrialised
countries lies between 104 and 106 , therefore looking at the figures for many Asian countries, we can
see that something is clearly wrong. With many countries where the SRB is well above average, ...

One of his more well known inventions is the ultra sound machine used for foetus scanning. Coming
into widespread use throughout Asia in the mid 1980s, this machine enabled families to find out the
sex of their unborn child and is therefore held responsible, to a considerable extent, for the gender
imbalance.
In order to combat the obvious effects of the ultra sound machine, the Chinese government has since
prohibited its use for non medical sex identification (see the second section of the table below ), as has
the Indian government in the Pre Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act (1994). Nevertheless, despite the
prohibition of non medical sex identification and abortion in China, the floating and rural population
and corruption among medical practices has made enforcing these laws difficult. The situation is
similar in India, where illegal sex identification has become a lucrative business, despite the three year
jail sentence for those found out. As in China, this punishment is also very difficult to enforce and,
especially in rural areas, is often ignored by local police altogether. Therefore, the Chinese
government has introduced different initiatives to combat the gender imbalance, one of which is the
Care For Girls Campaign. Starting with a pilot scheme in Chaohu, Anhui Province in 2000, the
government established specialised organisations, offered

In order to sound convincing, the first stage of our research we would like to devote to Lewis Carroll s
achievements as a gifted writer and his contribution to the world literature. It could be easily traced
that his young years were happy. Lewis Carroll was born Charles Lutwidge Dodgson on January 27,
1832. Dodgson was the eldest son and third child in a family of seven girls and four boys born to
Frances Jane Lutwidge, the wife of the Reverend Charles Dodgson. His father was perpetual curate
from 1827 until 1843, when he became rector of Croft in Yorkshire a post he held until his death. As it
has been already mentioned, Carroll had a happy childhood. His mother was patient and gentle, and
his father tutored all of his children and raised them to be good people. The family lived in an isolated
country village and had few friends outside the family but found little difficulty in entertaining
themselves. Charles showed a great aptitude for inventing games to amuse them. He wrote a series of
family magazines throughout his childhood, containing poetry, drawing, and prose. In 1846 1849
Dodgson attended Rugby School, from which he graduated to Christ Church College, Oxford. In 1854
he was awarded a degree in mathematics, and the following year he began work as a Lecturer at Christ
Church in that subject and after taking holy orders, including the commitment not to marry,

Motions of the Car from Today and Tomorrow
Motion of the Car
Have you ever dreamt of having your very own Herbie? The car with its own mind that drives by
itself? Part of your dreams might become reality soon, as Google engineers have already had test
drove their newly developed self driving car on more than 180,000 miles of highways and roads!
Picture: Fictional Self Driving Car, Herbie
There are already cars that can park themselves, but a self driving car would be able to capture images
of the road, identify alternative route and prevent traffic even before human eye can detect it. Wouldn t
it be fun to have a car that drives by itself on the way home from a tired day at the office?
Since 95% of road accident happen due to human error, this self driving car can prevent major
accidents on the road. This google cars can also reduce the amount of time used waiting for traffic
clearance. This saves you a lot of time, beside the lives of others. These Google cars will have data
about the roads and the surrounding. When it is driven, it will be able to detect any changes (like
pedestrians crossing the road), analyze it and make a proper response (stopping to let the pedestrian
cross). Even though this seems kind of impossible for now, you can except this to be in the showroom
in the next few decades, and it will surely make a great cocktail party conversation.
Drive by wire, is a technology that could change the way we drive our car. A car with this technology
would be controlled by electronics which operates the

The Impact Of Electronic Commerce On The Development Of...
I. ABSTRACT
With respect to the fast growing use of technology and communicative devices, electronic commerce
and digital markets has steadily impacted the expansion of information systems, organizations, and
society, on a global scale. The discussion of cultural differences as it relates to electronic commerce
was identified while analyzing primary factors that markets should take into account. The
characteristics and trends of each country examine the utilization of the Internet and electronic
commerce. With attempts to compare the United States and other countries, it is revealed that
electronic commerce goes beyond files residing on a server, it involves the entirety of infrastructure

III. LITERATURE REVIEW:
Electronic Commerce
Electronic commerce (or e commerce) consists of the repurchasing of different services and products,
utilized by the internet. This includes business to business (B2B), business to consumer (B2C), and
consumer to consumer(C2C) transactions. These transferable activities include, but are not limited to,
online retail sales, online bill paying, supplier purchases, and Web based auctions. Electronic
commerce implements and utilizes several different types of technologies including transactions of
funds, electronic data interchange, credit cards, and e mail (Reference for Business, Encyclopedia of
Management, 2008). The term e commerce is often used interchangeably with Electronic business (e
business). E business refers to the use of digital technology and the Internet to execute the major
business processes in the enterprise. E business includes activities for the internal management of the
firm and for coordination with suppliers and other business partners (Laudon, K., 12th ed., p. 55). E
commerce facilitates the growth of online business. It is categorized as follows; Online marketing,

The Trade Of The Fur Trade
The Fur trade flourished in the beginning of the 1600 s and prospered until the mid 1800. Some of the
most valuable items in the fur trade consisted of hats and pelts made from beaver. But what caused the
fall of the fur trade and why are furs and pelts no longer viewed as valuable as they were hundreds of
years ago. The act of trapping and skinning the fur from wild game is a lost art form which still thrives
in remote areas but not in most places like it did over 200 years ago. If the fur trade was never
introduced to North America and the people who inhabited it, then the U.S. and Canada would not be
the countries they are today, and would not have developed the trading posts that existed along the
entire Mississippi river, which allowed for new arriving Europeans to colonize. The fur trade all began
between the Native Americans and the Europeans in the early 1500 s, the earliest amongst the
Europeans being France. The French would offer the Native Americans goods such as knifes, kettles
and other goods to establish a good relationship with the natives. The Native Americans began to give
pelts in return, and this is where a huge demand for fur began by the Europeans. Before trade was
done in the interior of modern day Canada, the French would arrive on shore and wait for the Native
Americans to come to the shore to trade with them. After the voyage lead from Christopher Columbus,
a French voyageur by the name of Samuel de Champlain, ended up in Northeastern Canada. He

The Castle of Otranto Essay
In the book The Castle of Otranto the people of the castle are surrounded by unexplainable events.
These events are in most cases damaging to one s own mind. Those who are seen as great and loving
are turn in to violent and unpredictable individuals. Those who were affected include the highest level
of nobility, down as far as to the simple servant. While denial is shown by them there is no doubt that
they have changed, and only in disastrous ways. Weather the person has good intentions or not they
are changed and their intention becomes what they do. A corrupt power which cannot be stopped.
People may try to help and form the person to their former self but in The Castle of Otranto this is not
the case. When people react to unexplained ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

thinking that it would be a faster end to the prophecy as well but, this is not accepted by his wife. He
has lost complete control over his thoughts and his actions. When people react to unexplained events,
disaster follows such as with Conrad s untimely death. Conrad the son of Manfred is killed by the
fallen statue head in the courtyard of the castle. He was killed on impact. Conrad, the son was three

Magic Realism In Hamlet
Magic realism is a literary genre or style that encompases mythical elements into otherwise realistic
fiction. It is an important element that plays into imagery and makes the reader question if certain
situations actually happened. Often times realism is found in fiction or drama; however, it can also be
seen in some poetry. In this paper, I will be discussing how realism directly affects the complete works
of Hamlet, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Song of Solomon, and As I Walked out One
Evening .
Magic realism is quite prominent during all of Hamlet. The presence of the ghost is one of the main
ways realism is shown throughout the play. The ghost in Hamlet is the old king. This ghost is
portrayed as being alive in the play. Due to the fact that he has multiple lines and participates in
dialogue with Hamlet, it gives the impression of living. The whole purpose of the ghost being in the
play is for motivation. The ghost is the individual who tells Hamlet that he was killed by Claudius. By
revealing this information to Hamlet, it justified Hamlet s hate and lust for revenge against Claudius.
On the flip side, the use of the ghost portrays Hamlet as crazy. It makes it seem as if Hamlet is in a
completely different world than all of the other characters in the play. The magic realism in this play
helps to create a more complex storyline that purposely creates drama. Overall, I believe that the
realism in this play s main purpose was to solidify the reasoning behind

Why Dedication Is Important
Dedication is being committed to a task or purpose. Dedication is what gets you out of bed at 5 a.m in
the morning to go swim 3 miles in water than feel like it should be ice, not water. Dedication is what
makes you want to work harder at something you may not have mastered quiet yet. If you ask any pro
athlete what got them to where they are today, 9 times out of 10 they will say dedication. RING!
RING! RING! I wake to an alarm clock that reads 5:15 AM ringing in my ear. I swiftly get out of my
bed, and put on my bathing suit. I dash downstairs, grab my quick breakfast, hop in the freezing car
and prepare for the 2.5 hour ride to the swim meet. Gazing out the tinted window, all I see is towns
with usual Saturday morning traffic, followed miles of farmland. When we arrive at the pool, we need

Friends/family. For example, during the spring of 2016, my Little League team had a great playoff
run, but I had two birthday parties of very close friends. I decided that I would miss the first one,
because if we didn t win we were out of the playoffs. That games I went 2 4 with two HRs, which
include the walk off HR. Smiling big, I knew that I would play in the game the next day, and miss my
other friend s birthday party. The next day we lost, I was disappointed that I missed my friends party
just to lose a game. Still, I felt a sense of pride that I was dedicated enough to miss a very fun party for
something, we were far from guaranteed to win. In conclusion, dedication pays off. For example, with
dedication to swimming I was able to qualify for meets that I would have never qualified for without
endless practices, that required constant dedication. With dedication to learning jQuery, I have been
able to develop apps that I would have been able to make with out pushing through weeks of learning.
Dedication is the difference from good to

Individuality And Morality In A Clockwork Orange
A Clockwork Orange: Individuality, Morality, and Growing Up
Anthony Burgess s novel, A Clockwork Orange, presents a struggle between animalistic urges and
mechanistic society by way of the motif of a clockwork orange. Many would agree that a clock and an
orange share little in common other than the fact that they may both be round. However, the organic
nature of an orange combined with the precision and mechanics of a clock curiously imitates the way
people respond to everyday influences. Anthony Burgess capitalizes on the differences between these
two seemingly unrelated objects to present the connection between morality and conformity within the
confines of the novel s narrator, Alex. Throughout the three parts of the novel, it becomes more
apparent that every seemingly harmless life can be manipulated by the clockwork of society. Alex is a
young boy living in the near future, whose obsession with the brutality of the world around him causes
him to act violently. The portrayal of the character Alex as both a protagonist and an antagonist
highlights the psychological turmoil associated with conforming to society by sacrificing either
morality for individuality or individuality for morality.
The word faithful is often misinterpreted as always having a positive connotation. The dictionary
definition of faithful, adhering or true to fact, a standard, an original , can be interpreted more widely
(Dictionary.com). In the beginning of A Clockwork Orange, Alex refers to himself

The Crisis Of The Nigerian Economy

Countries that depend on crude oil revenues to balance their budgets (Iwayemi, Fowowe, 2011; also

Also, over dependent on crude oil revenues to balance the budget, lack of diversification of economy,
and mismanagement of the revenues from crude oil sales. Others issues include oil thefts, pipeline
vandalization, dwindling of oil revenue in the country contributed to the problem. For example,
Shuaibu, Mohammed, (2014), point out that, over reliance on crude oil for over 90 percent of Nigeria
s foreign exchange earnings makes its external account susceptible to international crude oil price
fluctuations . The large amount of proceeds earned from oil boom years were not properly utilized for
meaningful and sustainable development, as such, poverty continued to be in the rise and people
remain deprived of efficient energy services and sustainable livelihoods. The crude oil glut therefore
induced huge dislocation in the economy, joined with gross mismanagement of resources and resulted
into borrowing leading to increase in external debt. Abam, et al (2014) agreed that the high proceeds
obtained from crude oil export in all the boom years brought about an unsustainable spending profile,
which led to economic catastrophe when global petroleum prices crashed in 1986 and other
subsequent years (Nigeria Economy 2005; Suleiman, 2010). Some experts believed that Nigerian
current woes are caused by resource curse or Dutch disease, while others argued that problem is

Into The Darkness Symbolism
After reading the poem, Into the darkness, I have decided to focus on symbolism, archetypes, and
myths when referring to the owl and darkness. After researching I have found out that an owl operates
mainly late at night or all night. The author stated that The great horned owl calls to me each night
from the deep, tree shadows nearby, and I shape shift in the darkness, and shed human form, to fly .
When the owl shows up in your life, pay attention to the winds of change. Perhaps the author is about
to leave some old habits, a situation no longer serves or perhaps bring something new in your life.
When referring to symbolism there are several myths about owls that have been around for years. For

Destructive Cult
The world of cults is a misunderstood, yet dangerous to those captured by the community they bring,
and sometimes to their biological family. Cults are often seen as small, close knit groups of mentally
weak, crazy people, led by a power hungry source of insanity. While most of this may be true, the idea
that only the weak enter into cults is a fabrication to make people feel good about themselves, seeing
themselves as above the absurd ravings of a madman. Cults are never this simple, whether it be the

Libanus Father
On the mother s side, the difference in upbringing also played a role in the two men s attachment
toward their mothers. Both men had fathers who faced an early death. Libanius mother was quite
lenient in raising her children: My mother was a nice woman and feared the dishonesty of guardians
and the litigation which would inevitably arise with them, and so she herself set out to be all in all to
us. In general, she succeeded very well by dint of her exertions, but though she paid out fees to
schoolmasters for us, she did not have the heart to get annoyed with her sleepyhead of a son, for she
thought it was a loving mother s part never never to upset her child.
Libanius mother was hands on. In fear and suspicion of other guardians, she was the type of woman
who believed she could do things on her own. She was all in all to Libanius, which could be read
either she took on all the roles as both father and mother or she was everything her children. Being
independent, was a trait Libanius acquired from his mother. This passage from Libanius shows that his

Book Report Angelas Ashes Essay
Angela s Ashes by Frank McCourt
A Look at Irish Culture during the Depression Era
Frank Mc Court, the author of Angela s Ashes, was born during the Great Depression. A few years
after immigrating to the United States because their families believed they would find their fortune
here, his Irish family moved back to Ireland in hopes of a better life. They were met with only more
hardships in their native country. His book shows the struggle and small joys of daily life with
siblings, school friends, and the adults in his life. It also provides much insight into the way the people
in Ireland lived at that time. The author tells the story from the viewpoint of Frank, the oldest child of
a father whose background in quot;the North quot; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is also quot;the drink quot; the disease of Irish fathers who spend their weeks wages in the pub
on Friday night. (p. 184)
Frank s mother was forced to seek Relief, the Irish version of America s welfare system. She also
sought help from the Catholic and Protestant Church in feeding her family. The iron in the book was
that help was not given out without an accompanying sermon, in hopes of persuasion to join one or the
other. Mc Court depicts those in charge of the Relief system as being biased and unchristian type of
people who looked down on those they were in a position to help. (p. 150)
There are many amusing stories in the book revolving around the way the young children had to fend
for themselves while their parents sought work. In an effort to keep their apartment heated throughout
an especially cold winter, the children tore apart the furniture, and when that was gone they began to
use the wood from the walls. When the landlord came to see the apartment, he commented that he
thought he had rented them a 4 room apartment when it was only a 3 room, not realizing they had torn
out an entire wall. (p. 79)
Even those relatives who had some money were not always eager to help the family. They were
critical of the drunken father and for the mother who continued having children they could not
support. Ironically, however, when there was a death in the family, everyone showed up

The Industrial Revolution Of The Iron Mill By Rebecca...
The industrial revolution was a time of invention, progress and opportunity. However, there was also a
darker side to it all. Rebecca Harding Davis, author of Life in the Iron Mills, tells the story of
ironworker Hugh Wolfe from a first person narrator s point of view. This unnamed narrator of an
unspecified gender is part of the more privileged class of society. This person resides in the house that
the two protagonists of the story, Hugh and Debora Wolfe, used to live in. The higher ups of this time
had one mindset: there were two worlds society consisted of. Those that had money and were
considered civilized , and the rest of the population, working tirelessly, hardly considered humans.
These upper class characters proposed this idea with a rational, persuasive manner. Davis purpose was
to show the reader how wrong this view was and expose the evils within the industrial society while
also promising a better future. I agree with her purpose, as today s society sees the industrial
revolution as a very important piece to today s modern world. This is true, and the industrial
revolution had a huge impact on how our world operates and functions today, but the darker side of
this time period, working conditions, and morality are generally never discussed. The story starts off
with the narrator observing the people below from a window, bustling around a middle class mill
town. The narrator describes the poor quality of the town, smoke from the factories filling the sky and

The Issue Of Restrictions On Voter Rights
The issue of restrictions on voter rights, via registration restrains, or restrains is not a new issue when
looking back at the history of the United States of America. There have been a number of Supreme
Court cases that have dealt with laws that have attempted to hamper the ability of minority groups to
have their voices be heard at an equal volume. One example is the case, Baker V. Carr (1962). This
was about how the county lines, and therefor Congressional representation, was greatly skewed and
had not been update for many years, giving the rural voter greater representation over that of the urban
voter, who could be shown more likely to be a minority. While there is very little new about the issue
itself, there seems to have been what appears to progress, but the case could be made that the issue is
still very much alive and well, just masquerading around the ball in a different mask. What originally
brought my gaze to this topic, was actually a segment on the topic during an episode of Last Week
Tonight, With John Oliver. The thing that stuck out the most to during this particular segment was the
legislation that Oliver brought up, and a quote that went along with it, calling the North Carolina laws
being struck down the most restrictive voting law North Carolina has seen since the era of Jim Crowe,
and that the laws provisions, target African Americans with almost surgical precision. While this
example specifically speaks towards regulations that are aimed

Deception In Pudd Nhead Wilson
Following the conclusion of Pudd nhead Wilson, a novel written by Mark Twain in 1894, but taking
place in the 1850s, it is obvious that the book was inundated with a myriad of differing themes.
However, there is a theme that stands out in terms of being the most influential message conveyed by
Twain. This theme is that deception does not succeed, nor have favorable outcomes. I was able to
choose one specific scene from the novel that truly represents this theme. The scene that most
symbolizes the backfiring and disadvantages of deception is in the scene where Tom is sold down the
river. This scene is important because it accurately depicts the results of deception and epitomizes the
role that trickery plays in one s life. First off, the message ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my visual, I have included a backdrop consisting of the town in which he resides. Within the scene,
the houses and buildings are colored darker to represent the citizens negative feelings towards Tom.
Once sold, it can be properly inferred that no one was going to miss... Tom (Twain 78). This
disadvantage of the deceit in Pudd nhead Wilson was that Tom s personality developed for the worse.
This is evident in him being sold down the river as his actions and personality, being driven by greed
and a false lifestyle given by Roxy, tainted his reputation. His mistreatment of Chambers, his
gambling, or gaming debts, and drinking addiction, all stemmed from being an imposter; Roxy s
deception moved Tom in the wrong direction, making him an immoral person (Twain 38). In my
visual, I have included two rocks on either side of the boat that Tom is in. This represents his
wrongdoings and the guilt that he carries as a result of his actions when he should have been a slave. If
those rocks were removed then the boat would tip over, sink, and drown him. Despite his misconduct,
Tom must live with the consequences of deceit, one of which is becoming a

  • 2. Invasive Species Threatens The Ecosystem Invasive Species Threatens the Ecosystem Every life form all over the world depends on the ecosystem for its survival. However, the ecosystem can be threatened when there is an excess or drop in resources. Many people will argue that human beings are the primary cause of this economic imbalance but are people the root of this problem? No. There is evidence that invasive species all over the country has also threatened our ecosystem. Invasive species are any living organism such a plants, fungus, insects, and fish just to name a few. Invasive species pose a threat to wildlife in many ways. ( National Wildlife Federation, 2009) states species brought into an atmosphere that doesn t have any predators are considered dangerous. They often breed and spread rapidly, assuming control over a region. Local untamed life has no advanced safeguards against the trespasser, and they stand no chance against species that has no predators (p.2). Furthermore, these species invade areas that they aren t indigenous to and reproduce quickly. To further understand the underlying crux of invasive species and how this matter may come to fruition, I will provide an analogy of an article that addresses this problem, by summarizing and identifying the negative impact invasive species have on the ecosystem. Today, some may say that human beings are the reason invasive species prevail. According to Bright (1999), Obtrusive species are being transported through the worldwide ... • 3. The Change Is Unexpected Or Planned Departure Of A Chief... Every nonprofit organization undergoes leadership changes at some point. Whether the change is unexpected or planned, it can result in a period of dangerous organizational uncertainty or offer opportunities for greater accomplishments. Without a transition plan in place, a sudden or planned departure of a chief executive officer, chief financial officer or other upper management official can seriously degrade the performance of a nonprofit organization. Experienced transition leadership and adequate planning will minimize disruption and maintain the mission of the organization, as well as offer the possibilities of further growth and development. More than 3,000 executives of nonprofit organizations participated in a national study conducted by CompassPoint and the Meyer Foundation in 2011 (Cornelius, Moyers, Bell, 2011, p. 2). Sixty seven percent of these executives indicated they plan on leaving their organizations within five years (See Table). In addition, this survey revealed that despite 15 years of attention to the issue, a number of key practices associated with effective executive transition are not widespread. Executives and boards are still reluctant to talk proactively about succession and just 17% of organizations have a documented succession plan (Cornelius et al., 2011, p. 3). When adding unexpected executive departures to these statistics, the ramifications of insufficient transitional planning are alarming. It was reported in the news ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Dream Of A Detroit Man Named Berry Gordy Every year, tens of thousands of people come to Detroit, Michigan with hopes of getting a glimpse of Hitsville U.S.A. Since 1985, the recording studio that once produced and made the dreams of many famous singers a reality has been a popular tourist attraction, known as Motown Museum. Motown Museum is open five days a week to local and international visitors. Visitors are given a tour through Studio A, where they can stand in the same room in which their favorite Motown artist stood. Additionally, visitors also tour the newly renovated upper flat that Berry Gordy and his family lived in during the early part of the company s years. This beautiful place that appears to be frozen in time and conveniently located in the exact same spot where it all began, started from the dream of a Detroit man named Berry Gordy. During the 1950s African Americans were plagued by discrimination and injustice. For example, Sugrue (1996) states, housing was a well sought after necessity by new migrants, rapidly growing postwar families, returning veterans, and people displaced by urban redevelopment and highway projects.(p. 52) Essentially, all of these people were typically the ones who had limited if not income at all. Additionally, once the housing market slowly began to open in the mid 50s, advertising for available units discriminated against minorities by specifying the want for white tenants only . (Origins, p. 53) However, through all of the discrimination and injustices, Motown ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The workers need to use appropriate English and avoid speaking too fast so that the family would understand what they are saying, this is because of the different accents, different cultural backgrounds and Alethea s inability to speak fluent English. The workers need to actively listen to the family and encourage them to tell their stories, this can be achieved by building rapport and using the appropriate communication strategies. For example the workers need to show concern and interest, be empathetic, respect the client and see the issues from the family s perspective rather ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It returned every few years for centuries. Reactions differed. Some escaped into alcohol, sex, and crime. Others, believing the Black Death to be a punishment from God, attempted to atone for their sins through self inflicted pain. The Jews became scapegoats. People fled, carrying the plague with them. The resulting labor shortage could benefit peasants, although the demand for products was also reduced. When the ruling classes reduced wage rates there were peasant revolts. These macromolecules are large carbon based structures. The macromolecules are assembled by joining several smaller units, called monomers, together through a chemical reaction called dehydration synthesis. The resulting polymer can be disassembled through the complementary process called hydrolysis.Carbohydrates are made of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms in a 1:2:1 ratio. This means that for every carbon atom present in the carbohydrate there are two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom present. The monomers for carbohydrates are referred to as monosaccharides. When many monosaccharides are chained together the resulting molecule is called a polysaccharide. Carbohydrates are used by living organisms as an important source of energy. Examples of carbohydrates include glucose, fructose, sucrose, galactose, ribose, deoxyribose, cellulose and chitin.Lipids are also made of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen but the ratio of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen is not 1:2:1. Instead, lipids have a much higher number of carbons and hydrogens with few oxygen atoms present. The nonpolar bonds that form between the carbon and hydrogen atoms of a lipid cause them to be hydrophobic, or water repellent, molecules. This explains why water and oil do not mix. The large number of carbon to hydrogen bonds also serves to make lipids energy rich storage molecules. One gram of lipid stores ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Coming into widespread use throughout Asia in the mid 1980s, this machine enabled families to find out the sex of their unborn child and is therefore held responsible, to a considerable extent, for the gender imbalance. In order to combat the obvious effects of the ultra sound machine, the Chinese government has since prohibited its use for non medical sex identification (see the second section of the table below ), as has the Indian government in the Pre Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act (1994). Nevertheless, despite the prohibition of non medical sex identification and abortion in China, the floating and rural population and corruption among medical practices has made enforcing these laws difficult. The situation is similar in India, where illegal sex identification has become a lucrative business, despite the three year jail sentence for those found out. The act of trapping and skinning the fur from wild game is a lost art form which still thrives in remote areas but not in most places like it did over 200 years ago. In this paper, I will be discussing how realism directly affects the complete works of Hamlet, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Song of Solomon, and As I Walked out One Evening . Magic realism is quite prominent during all of Hamlet. The presence of the ghost is one of the main ways realism is shown throughout the play. The ghost in Hamlet is the old king. This ghost is portrayed as being alive in the play. Due to the fact that he has multiple lines and participates in dialogue with Hamlet, it gives the impression of living. The whole purpose of the ghost being in the play is for motivation. The ghost is the individual who tells Hamlet that he was killed by Claudius. By revealing this information to Hamlet, it justified Hamlet s hate and lust for revenge against Claudius. On the flip side, the use of the ghost portrays Hamlet as crazy. It makes it seem as if Hamlet is in a completely different world than all of the other characters in the play. The magic realism in this play helps to create a more complex storyline that purposely creates drama. Overall, I believe that the realism in this play s main purpose was to solidify the reasoning behind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Why Dedication Is Important Dedication is being committed to a task or purpose. Dedication is what gets you out of bed at 5 a.m in the morning to go swim 3 miles in water than feel like it should be ice, not water. Dedication is what makes you want to work harder at something you may not have mastered quiet yet. If you ask any pro athlete what got them to where they are today, 9 times out of 10 they will say dedication. RING! RING! RING! I wake to an alarm clock that reads 5:15 AM ringing in my ear. I swiftly get out of my bed, and put on my bathing suit. I dash downstairs, grab my quick breakfast, hop in the freezing car and prepare for the 2.5 hour ride to the swim meet. Gazing out the tinted window, all I see is towns with usual Saturday morning traffic, followed miles of farmland. Smiling big, I knew that I would play in the game the next day, and miss my other friend s birthday party. The next day we lost, I was disappointed that I missed my friends party just to lose a game. Still, I felt a sense of pride that I was dedicated enough to miss a very fun party for something, we were far from guaranteed to win. In conclusion, dedication pays off. For example, with dedication to swimming I was able to qualify for meets that I would have never qualified for without endless practices, that required constant dedication. • 30. Individuality And Morality In A Clockwork Orange A Clockwork Orange: Individuality, Morality, and Growing Up Anthony Burgess s novel, A Clockwork Orange, presents a struggle between animalistic urges and mechanistic society by way of the motif of a clockwork orange. Many would agree that a clock and an orange share little in common other than the fact that they may both be round. However, the organic nature of an orange combined with the precision and mechanics of a clock curiously imitates the way people respond to everyday influences. Anthony Burgess capitalizes on the differences between these two seemingly unrelated objects to present the connection between morality and conformity within the confines of the novel s narrator, Alex. Throughout the three parts of the novel, it becomes more apparent that every seemingly harmless life can be manipulated by the clockwork of society. Alex is a young boy living in the near future, whose obsession with the brutality of the world around him causes him to act violently. The portrayal of the character Alex as both a protagonist and an antagonist highlights the psychological turmoil associated with conforming to society by sacrificing either morality for individuality or individuality for morality. The word faithful is often misinterpreted as always having a positive connotation. The dictionary definition of faithful, adhering or true to fact, a standard, an original , can be interpreted more widely (Dictionary.com). Others issues include oil thefts, pipeline vandalization, dwindling of oil revenue in the country contributed to the problem. For example, Shuaibu, Mohammed, (2014), point out that, over reliance on crude oil for over 90 percent of Nigeria s foreign exchange earnings makes its external account susceptible to international crude oil price fluctuations . The large amount of proceeds earned from oil boom years were not properly utilized for meaningful and sustainable development, as such, poverty continued to be in the rise and people remain deprived of efficient energy services and sustainable livelihoods. The crude oil glut therefore induced huge dislocation in the economy, joined with gross mismanagement of resources and resulted into borrowing leading to increase in external debt. Abam, et al (2014) agreed that the high proceeds obtained from crude oil export in all the boom years brought about an unsustainable spending profile, which led to economic catastrophe when global petroleum prices crashed in 1986 and other subsequent years (Nigeria Economy 2005; Suleiman, 2010). Libanius mother was quite lenient in raising her children: My mother was a nice woman and feared the dishonesty of guardians and the litigation which would inevitably arise with them, and so she herself set out to be all in all to us. In general, she succeeded very well by dint of her exertions, but though she paid out fees to schoolmasters for us, she did not have the heart to get annoyed with her sleepyhead of a son, for she thought it was a loving mother s part never never to upset her child. She was all in all to Libanius, which could be read either she took on all the roles as both father and mother or she was everything her children. Being independent, was a trait Libanius acquired from his mother. This passage from Libanius shows that his mother was quite over protective. They were met with only more hardships in their native country. His book shows the struggle and small joys of daily life with siblings, school friends, and the adults in his life. The iron in the book was that help was not given out without an accompanying sermon, in hopes of persuasion to join one or the other. Mc Court depicts those in charge of the Relief system as being biased and unchristian type of people who looked down on those they were in a position to help. (p. 150) There are many amusing stories in the book revolving around the way the young children had to fend for themselves while their parents sought work. In an effort to keep their apartment heated throughout an especially cold winter, the children tore apart the furniture, and when that was gone they began to use the wood from the walls. When the landlord came to see the apartment, he commented that he thought he had rented them a 4 room apartment when it was only a 3 room, not realizing they had torn out an entire wall. • 40. The Industrial Revolution Of The Iron Mill By Rebecca... The industrial revolution was a time of invention, progress and opportunity. However, there was also a darker side to it all. Rebecca Harding Davis, author of Life in the Iron Mills, tells the story of ironworker Hugh Wolfe from a first person narrator s point of view. This unnamed narrator of an unspecified gender is part of the more privileged class of society. This person resides in the house that the two protagonists of the story, Hugh and Debora Wolfe, used to live in. The higher ups of this time had one mindset: there were two worlds society consisted of. Those that had money and were considered civilized , and the rest of the population, working tirelessly, hardly considered humans. These upper class characters proposed this idea with a rational, persuasive manner. Davis purpose was to show the reader how wrong this view was and expose the evils within the industrial society while also promising a better future. I agree with her purpose, as today s society sees the industrial revolution as a very important piece to today s modern world. This is true, and the industrial revolution had a huge impact on how our world operates and functions today, but the darker side of this time period, working conditions, and morality are generally never discussed. • 41. The Issue Of Restrictions On Voter Rights The issue of restrictions on voter rights, via registration restrains, or restrains is not a new issue when looking back at the history of the United States of America. There have been a number of Supreme Court cases that have dealt with laws that have attempted to hamper the ability of minority groups to have their voices be heard at an equal volume. One example is the case, Baker V. Carr (1962). This was about how the county lines, and therefor Congressional representation, was greatly skewed and had not been update for many years, giving the rural voter greater representation over that of the urban voter, who could be shown more likely to be a minority. While there is very little new about the issue itself, there seems to have been what appears to progress, but the case could be made that the issue is still very much alive and well, just masquerading around the ball in a different mask. What originally brought my gaze to this topic, was actually a segment on the topic during an episode of Last Week Tonight, With John Oliver. The thing that stuck out the most to during this particular segment was the legislation that Oliver brought up, and a quote that went along with it, calling the North Carolina laws being struck down the most restrictive voting law North Carolina has seen since the era of Jim Crowe, and that the laws provisions, target African Americans with almost surgical precision. While this example specifically speaks towards regulations that are aimed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, there is a theme that stands out in terms of being the most influential message conveyed by Twain. This theme is that deception does not succeed, nor have favorable outcomes. I was able to choose one specific scene from the novel that truly represents this theme.
