Wuthering Heights
In Emily Brontë s only book Wuthering Heights, her descriptions of the two houses Wuthering
Heights and Thrushcross Grange create distinct atmospheres that mirror the actions of the inhabitants
that reside within them. Although they lie within miles of each other, they are two very different
places. Never have two more opposing places existed than Thrushcross Grange and Wuthering
Heights. Wuthering Heights is a representation of uncontrollable emotions, lack of discipline and
chaos. Thrushcross Grange is a peaceful, beautiful abode which epitomizes all that is good and lovely.
The houses differ greatly in appearance, location and landscape, and the feelings and actions of the
inhabitants within reflect the residence in which they live. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brontë has apposed them in every way, even the names indicate what kind of house we should expect.
The beautiful and well kept Thrushcross Grange can be viewed as a haven when compared to the
chaotic Wuthering Heights. Wuthering Heights symbolizes the anger, hatred and deep felt tension of
that house while Thrushcross Grange embodies the superficial feelings and materialistic outlook of its
inhabitants. The contrast between the houses is more than physical; rather these two houses represent
the people which are living in them. Brontë made Heathcliff and Wuthering Height as one, by making
both of them cold, dark, and menacing, similar to the storms which constantly surround both
Heathcliff and Wuthering Heights. Thrushcross Grange is parallel with the Linton s; who are of a
welcoming and peaceful manner; who have had virtually perfect lives and who have been hidden by
their parents, from the evils of the outside world. It is clear, that in Emily Brontë s Wuthering Heights
both Thrushcross Grange and Wuthering Heights are two very different places. While the Grange can
be seen as beautiful and elegant, it can also be viewed as unnatural and materialized; and while
Wuthering Heights seems unfriendly and unkempt no fair decisions can be made when it is compared
with an impeccable,

The Dancing Plague Of 1518 Essay
Emily De La Hunt Reilly 03/28/17 The Dancing Plague of 1518 The dancing plague of 1518 was an
outburst of a large amount of villagers that were agressively dancing unwillingly for days on end until
they died of exhaustion, dehydration, or strokes. Some theories were suggested to diagnos the reason
for how the dancing plague occured. The theories proposed were mass panic and hysteria, ergot
fungus injestion, the victims were in a trance, or that their religion and beliefs, in some way, generated
the dancing plague. It s difficult to imagine that people were able to dance for several days with
bruised and bloody feet. However, it s easier to believe if it were known that the people involved
weren t completely conscious of what they were doing. The villagers were observed to be ... Show

Mass hysteria, also known as moral panic, can be created by panic and worry. Moral panic is a fear
that grips a large number of people that something is threatening society. Strasbourg, Alsace was an
area where many people were in poverty and in despairation for money, food, and shelter area (
Mystery Explained? Dancing Plague of 1518, the Bizarre Dance That Killed Dozens. Digital Journal:
A Global Digital Media Network). Mass hysteria is defined as an imagined or assumed threat that
causes physical symptoms among a large number of people. The towns in medieval times were much
smaller than in modern day places, which could explain why so many people were involved out of the
entire village. The dancing epidemic of 1518 fits in the category of mass hysteria and could explain
why so many were effected (Mass Hysteria Moral Panic: Definitions, Causes Examples Video Lesson

Role of Women in the Paleolithic and Modern Period
Role of Women in the Paleolithic and Modern Period

Role of Women in the Paleolithic and Modern Period * Women of the Paleolithic and Modern periods
both have role models that have different meanings such as their role in society and their body image;
however the way the males have treated these women showed little respect. During the Paleolithic
period a sculpture was carved from using simple carving tools to create a masterpiece that is known
today as the Venus of Willendorf. The Venus of Willendorf has suggested to archeologists that the
sculpture was to have been an image of fertility, which is how their existence survived for so many
years. Looking at the sculpture also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These different roles are what have inspired women; if you can imagine it then you can become it. In,
1992 President Barbie was created which led the way for the feminist that shape the future political
leaders (Zaslow amp;Schoenberg, 2012). The United States had the first female run for office in 2008,
only 16 years after President Barbie was introduced to the young women of America. This is only the
beginning of what the women of today s society are going to do as a political leader.
Venus of Willendorf was a role model for the perfect female form for her obesity; however today
women have strived to have the Barbie look. In the, Stone Age fat was beautiful because it meant
vitality and fertility (Paige, 2004, p. 4). There were many different body shapes of woman from the
Paleolithic period, but there is only one that really stood out and served as a role model for their
village. Venus of Willendorf is sculpted in a way that clearly shows her obesity and why she is the role
model for the Paleolithic period. She was sculpted with a large stomach that overhangs a fat roll that
extends around the middle, a flat butt and large thighs that are pressed together on her knees. This is
one of the earliest signs of obesity in women and they still struggle with this in the modern society.
In today s society everyone has imagined to have that perfect body. Many experts have suggested that
Barbie is a root cause for many problems with women

What Ways Do Practices Of Consumption Drive Ecological...
In what ways do practices of consumption drive ecological degradation?
The consumption of some goods and services results to ecological degradation more than we may
realize. The things that we purchase contribute directly or indirectly to pollution, climate change,
resources depletion and biodiversity loss. Ecological degradation refers to the deterioration in
environmental quality from ambient concentrations of pollutants and other activities and processes
such as improper land use and natural disasters (OECD, 1997). Ecological degradation is in most
cases a result of socioeconomically, institutional and technological activities. The resources that are
affected include water, soil and air. The degradation also impacts our wildlife, ... Show more content

Mining provides a number of jobs to a large number of people along with being a great source for
government revenues. Despite its great contribution to the economy, the effects that it has on the
environment appears to be of great concern. For example rainforests are a great and important source
of wood, oxygen and medicine for everyone. Rainforests in the amazon in particular are known for its
alluvial deposits of gold that are found at river banks after major floods and river channels. In order
for miners to mine gold, hydraulic mining techniques are often used. This method involves the process
of blasting at the riverbanks that results to irreversible damage to trees and animals. Through the
process of separating the mercury and the sediment from gold yielding gravel deposits, miners who
appear to be less equipped than industrial miners sometimes may ignore the release of some of the
mercury into the river. The mercury is then likely to enter the food chain through water animals as
well as their predators. Highly compound cyanide is also used to separate gold from sediment and
rock. In spite of all precautionary measures, it sometimes escapes into the surrounding environment
(Rose, 2012). Therefore those who consume fish might be at great risk of contamination of such
toxins. Chemicals such as sulfuric acid, cyanide and methyl mercury are usually used in different

The Influence of Athletic Competition on Psychological...
Literature review and Research Questions Research has illustrated that athletic competition has a
strong influence on psychological development, impacting an individual s formation in areas such as
self esteem, body image and overall well being (Anshel, 2000; Findlay Bowker, 2007; Haugen,
Safvenbom Ommundsen, 201; Peden, Stiles, Vandehey Diekhoff, 2008). A large sector of this research
has specifically analyzed the outcomes of negative experiences within athletics, especially those high
in stress and therefore resulting in potentially detrimental consequences for athletes. A major source of
stress within athletics is due to potential and veritable athletic injuries due to overuse, during game
accidents and other competition/training related afflictions (Hanson, McCullagh Tonymon, 1992).
Approximately 3 5 million injuries occur due to athletics each year (Smith, Smoll Ptacek, 1990), and
the prevalence of such injuries suggests that the trauma experienced could pose a significant threat to
athletes, both physically and psychologically, a phenomenon that warrants further investigation. For
the past 30 years or so, research has evaluated the manner with which people handle stressful
situations, which include athletic injury, and across the literature it has been consistently and reliably
found that people vary in the manner with which they express well being across stressful life events
(Carver, Scheier Weintraub,1989; DeLongis Holtzman, 2005; Smith, Smoll

Cook County Criminal Court Case Essay
Ladies and gentleman of the jury at Cook County Criminal Court, I am the defense attorney. Today we
are regarding Case number 407 and my client is insane. This case is about the murderer, Sam Parris,
who murdered Billy Porter. We know that Sam is clearly guilty because he confessed to us. Sam Parris
is insane because he hears voices inside his head, he says he has a disease, and he is imagining things
that are not really there.
The first piece of evidence I have is when Sam says, Almighty God! no, no! They heard! they
suspected! they knew! they were making a mockery of my horror! this I thought, and this I think!
(page four). He was hearing voices inside his head. Throughout the story, Sam has voices inside his
head. The voices ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

noise steadily increased. (page four). Sam is hearing noises. He is either hearing voices inside his head
or hearing sounds inside his head. If the officers didn t hear him talking or gasping, he was hearing it
inside his head. When you are insane, you believe things that aren t true. He hears, sees, and thinks
things are not really there. On the other hand, I could see why some say he is sane. In some parts of
the story he is in his right mind. Like when he said, But, ere long, I felt myself getting pale and
wishing them gone. (page four). I feel as if he had come to his senses and figured out what he did. So,
while he was doing the murder, he didn t know what he was doing. But, afterwards it hit him. He
learned what he did. In conclusion, I find Sam Parris to be completely guilty of murder. But, I believe
that he should be admitted to a mental hospital and not be charged for murder. He needs treatment for
his disease. The disease makes him not think right. It makes him believe stuff that isn t true. Thank
you everyone for coming today. Have a good

The Benefits Of Volunteering
Volunteering not only is enjoyable, but also maintains someone s health physically and mentally.
Volunteering allows people to get outside and see the bigger picture of life. It allows someone to gain
characteristics for a specific job they might be interested in. Depression and negative things that
someone might be going through are eliminated. A sense of purpose is gained when someone choose
to volunteer whether they are younger or elderly. It impacts an elderly person s life a little more,
especially if they have retired. It allows them to get out and live life with a gratifying mind set. Not
only does volunteering payoff to the people choosing to volunteer, it also give the people or society

People may not understand how much they are doing in the world when they choose to volunteer, but
even a little work can contribute to more than they think. Gaining proper social skills leads to
characteristics for a specific job someone might be interested in. Jobs look for someone who can work
well with others and communicate well with problems that are caused throughout the world. Health
benefits are also gained during volunteering. It limits the sense of depression someone may be
fighting. When someone volunteers it allows them to get outside of their own problems and help
others that are struggling as well. Self confidence is usually gained when someone helps another
person. Giving is always better than receiving. Volunteering can also maintain someone s exercise and
allows them to continue to be active throughout the community. When someone feels like they are
needed somewhere, they gain a sense of purpose. Everyone has a purpose in the world, and
volunteering is a great way to earn that purpose. Volunteering impacts elderly people a little more. It
allows them to get outside of their homes and realize they can still do something to help within the
community also. It protects and supplies a healthy lifestyle for them. Giving in a simple way to the
community as a whole and the people in it can make a significant difference throughout the

Social, Biological And Psychological Theories
In society today, many individuals are negatively influenced by the media and the way crime is
portrayed. The cause of crime has been studied over decades ago and is continuing to be studied.
Many researchers have had their theories and reasons as to why crime happens and what drives one to
commit crime. Environmental, social, biological and psychological theories are all potential variables
of why crime happens. Critics may argue that crime is caused by the way someone is raised and one
becomes a product of their environment. Others may argue that there is something called the crime
gene. A professor named Dr. Mairi Levitt at the University of Lancaster is a researcher in the field of
bioethics, focusing primarily on how science and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Psychological theories attempt to look deep into the mind of the individual Akers et al., (2013).
Psychological theories cover a broad range of approaches as to why crime is committed and what the
causal factors are. Lam, Salkovskis and Warwick (2005) support this and found psychological theories
refers to psychological reactions to stressors, negative beliefs and meanings and feedback loops,
focused on information processing and the mind.
Psychological theories recognize the effect of an individual s experience, especially in early
childhood, and environmental factors that may trigger criminal behavior, but they propose abnormal
personality type/traits or emotional maladjustments as the primary causes of crime Akers et al.,
(2013). Psychological theorists believed that behavior, criminal or non criminal is not related to one s
biological make up. According to Kate Friedlander (1947), classical Freudian psychoanalytic
explanations of delinquency focus on abnormalities or disturbances in the individual s emotion
development from early childhood Akers et al., (2013). In terms of mental health, to better understand
this theory, psychological theories are perceived could influence beliefs of patients and non patients
alike in terms of factors such as stigmatization, beliefs about the outcome of treatment, motivation,
pessimism and so on.

Summary Of Her Third Marriage And Tea Cake Woods
Her third marriage was to Vergible Tea Cake Woods. This marriage was a choice and Janie was highly
cautious before deciding to be with him. Similarly to Joe she did not know what to expect from being
with Tea Cake. Janie went into this marriage having hopes of achieving true love and her idea of
marriage. She hoped that she would be able to put her values first and that she did. Tea Cake and Janie
gone hunting. Tea Cake and Janie gone fishing. Tea Cake and Janie gone to Orlando to the movies.
Tea Cake and Janie gone to a dance. Tea Cake making flower beds in Janie s yard and seeding the
garden for her. Chopping down that tree she never did like by the dining room window. All those signs
of possession. Tea Cake in a borrowed car teaching Janie to drive. Tea Cake and Janie playing
checkers; playing coon can; playing Florida flip on the store porch all afternoon as if nobody else was
there. Day after day and week after week. (Hurston 129). Tea Cake was about 12 years younger than
Janie, which is probably why he was so free and adventurous. He was not as traditional as Logan and
Joe. Tea Cake allowed her the freedom and support she needed. He allowed exploration of her self
identity. Unlike her other husbands, Tea Cake was encouraging. He encouraged her to follow her own
interests and with that she was fulfilled. Although she was fulfilled with Tea Cake and able to openly
explore her values, he was similar to her other husband s in many ways.

Wieel Wiesel Reflection
In chapter one, page fifteen, I was intrigued by the quote, I looked at my house in which I had spent
years seeking my God, fasting to hasten the coming of the Messiah, imagining what my life would be
like later. Yet I felt little sadness. My mind was empty. (Wiesel 15) This passage really caught my
attention because, in the quote it shows how affected they really were. in this quote he s saying that, as
hard as he tried to have faith in his god and pursue to the future of freedom, it gets harder and harder
to have the faith when you have nothing left. I really thought this quote was interesting because it
gives perspective on how affective this event was for the Jewish, they not only were leaving
everything they had behind, but some of the faith and religion they carried with them.
Page ten, chapter 1, I chose the passage, The race to death had begun. (Wiesel 10) as an important
style of writing. This quote is personifying how quickly death reached some of the Jews from Sighet. I
think this use of personification, which is the style figure of speech, is a big factor to the text because,
it enhances the amount of emotion it makes you feel while reading. In this passage, the use of
personification is a major element because it is making us feel the emotion of fear that they all have.
While reading Chapter 1, I was challenged by the word penury, He was poor and lived in utter penury.
(Wiesel 1) In this sentence penury directly means poverty, after learning this

conflict and sets up the central dramatic question of how can this father and son relationship

that time and before his father die? Big fish has two parallel stories is Edward in the past and Will in
the present. At the moment where Edward leave the small town of Ashton along with Karl the giants is
doesn t have much to do with the central dramatic ideal and question of the movie. But it is a more
significant moment, young Edward no longer fears death and the in the present Edward is now dying
from cancer. The first culmination is Edward and Sandra romance, Edward spend quite lot of times
quest to find Sandra. In the mean time in the present, William suspects his father has been cheating,

Job Satisfaction At Walden Sport
Job Attitude Is defined as the way an individual behaves and perceives things and the output he
delivers in the job he/she is assigned. This affects his/her production which ultimately determines the
organization s success (Brooke, Russell, Price, 1988). According to the success of an individual,
attitude is directly proportional to his/her effectiveness. The attitude and perception employees
approach their work with is the same determinant of their maximum output. Attitude can also be
manipulated by the belief, self values, and attachment towards the specified task assigned (Brooke,

A tag is the most basic writing of an artist s name; it is a form of which an artist gain recognition. A
graffiti writer s tag is his or her personalized signature. Graffiti is more destructive, they use aerosol,
hard to read and they usually do it at night. Street art use different mode of paintings, they do it in
broad daylight and it is more acceptable by the community. The artist are treated differently depending
on the type of art they are showing. If the art is more acceptable by the people around, then they are
praised by their work. Usually the defining factor on whether or not Graffiti art is considered legal is
based on permission. This is not a universal rule and every city will have its own process for
determining where and what type of Graffiti art is acceptable. There is a basic idea or feeling that a
highly tagged neighborhood has been overrun by criminals or street gangs or that it is simply an area
of a city that is not worth caring about.

Henri Matisse Essay
Henri Matisse
Henri Matisse was born December 31st, 1869 to two storeowners, Emile and Heloise Matisse. His
father wanted him to be a lawyer, so later on in life he could takeover the family business. They sent
him to Henri Martin Grammar School where he studied to be a lawyer. There was a hint of artist in
Henri because while working as a lawyer s assistant he took up a drawing course (Essers 7). It was for
curtain design but it seemed to be destiny for a lawyer s assistant to take up such a distant hobby as
drawing. At the age of 21, his intestinal operation led to appendicitis. Henri was on bed rest for most

Matisse then began studying at a school started by a fellow artist and friend Camillo because he was
not confident enough in his ability to be an independent artist. In 1903, Matisse started accepting
harshful commissions that took a toll on him. He became so sick that he though to give up painting.
This is when he produced Studio under the Eaves. Matisse told his son, That was the transition from
valeurs to colors (Essers 12). The next year he read Paul Signac s From Delacroix to Neo
Impressionism . Matisse began to move further away from the techniques and style of Impressionism.
The famous summer of 1905 was spent in Collioure with Derain and Maurice de Vlaminck. This
summer marked the most important turning point in Matisse s art career. During the summer, they
experimented with the pointillism techniques of Seurat, but towards the end of the summer, the three
artists had moved in a very different direction. The paintings produced in Collioure rejected
Impression and began a new movement. They exhibited their works in the Salon d Automne, which
they also founded in 1903. The paintings, View of Collioure and Le Bonheur de Vivre received loud
criticism from nearly everyone who had seen them. Louis Vauxcelles, gave them the name the Fauves
(Flam 79). They were nicknamed the wild beasts because of their use and experimentation with bright,
unnatural colors. Their grass was not green, but

Social and Political Critique and Commentary in Bonnie and...
Social and political critique and commentary in Bonnie and Clyde
The fact that the story is set 35 years ago doesn t mean a thing. It had to be set sometime. But it was
made now and it s about us. Roger Ebert 1
At the time of its release in 1967, Bonnie and Clyde was the subject of intense debate. While the
American film critic Roger Ebert hailed it as a milestone in American moviemaking, Bosley Crowther,
another critic, referred to it as a cheap piece of bald faced slapstick
Comedy . 2 It was called the sleeper hit of the decade, and gained extreme notoriety for its breakage of
traditional cinematic taboos, in that it showed rather explicitly both sex and especially, raw and brutal
violence. It greatly surprised both the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within this rather traditional framework however, Bonnie and Clyde makes several compelling
statements about 1960 s America. [This is too short to be a paragraph on its own.]
Violence almost defines Bonnie and Clyde. It runs like a silver thread through the entire film.
Graphic violence is today a rather common and somewhat natural characteristic of modern cinema,
but before Bonnie and Clyde, it certainly was not. Arthur Penn introduced it in 1967. Before Bonnie
and Clyde violence in film was hinted at or just implied through various sorts of acting techniques.
Arthur Penn decided to show the audience the real, brutal and raw side to violence, using brilliant
camerawork but more importantly, top notch special effects and masterful visual skills. In Bonnie and
Clyde the violence never feels fake, but terrifyingly real. Take for example the first graphic scene of
the film, in which Clyde shoots a store owner s face clean off, as he tries jump aboard the robbers
getaway car. The man s head basically explodes, splattering blood and pieces of brain all over the car
window, and Penn shows us, the audience, this (although not in a Tarantinto splasher like way, but
nevertheless) in a quite unromantic but very powerful and dramatic way. The scene is almost
reminiscent of the famous scene from Battleship Potemkin 3 where the mother is shot in the face, and

1uyehtutkhaing.moep.phd@gmail.com 2okkarsoe07@gmail.com Abstract Power systems have
increased in size and complexity and national society depends heavily upon a high level of power
system reliability. When the bulk transmission system is subjected to large disturbances there is the
possibility of a system wide blackout due to cascading outages. After a partial blackout or system
breakdown condition, restoring power system is needed and then power needs to be restored as
quickly, stability and reliability as possible and consequently. Outage time after extensive blackouts
depends very much on the power system restoration process. Power system restoration is a very
challenging task to the operator since the situation is so far from normal conditions. This paper
proposes a simulation based tool MATLAB/SIMULINK that determines suitable restoration
transmission lines route with using Fuzzy Inference System for IEEE 6 Bus System Keywords

African Americans Should NOT Be Allowed In Law Enforcement

can be said to be true because the man didn t appear to be doing anything out of the ordinary. In fact it

Also, you probably won t be allowed to use a cutting torch, so bring a crowbar so you can get inside a

the price will be the same for any door handle. If you can find the part you need and it is in good

You ll have a better chance of finding the part you need if you re working on a common car rather than

Polly Schoyer Brooks Queen Eleanor
In the book, Queen Eleanor by Polly Schoyer Brooks, it discusses the uncanny relationship between
King Henry and Thomas Becket. It starts when Henry appoints Becket to the role of archbishop.
Ultimately, it ends with Henry accidently giving an order to his knights to kill Becket for treason.
Nonetheless, Becket was correct in believing his faithfulness in the church came before the King,
because of how overwhelmingly prominent religion was to the people s lives, Henry gave Becket the
role directly, and Henry didn t care that it would ruin their friendship because Henry was so power
hungry. To begin with, religion and the church was an extremely important factor in people s lives in
the middle ages. For example, the text states, ...he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To further support this argument, the author states, Becket warned the king that this would lead to
trouble and might end their friendship. which shows that Henry didn t care if he ruined their close
friendship as long as he got control over more. The text also states, Attempts to make up always ended
in failure, for each man now sought to ruin each other. which expresses how even though Becket
warned Henry of disagreements, they could never fix their issues and soon loathed everything the
other one did. This ended both of them seething and never being able to agree or even work together,
which led to them despising one another. On the other hand, one could also make the argument that
Becket should have given his loyalty to Henry first because Henry gave him the job of archbishop.
Others may think that Becket should have stayed loyal to the King because they believe the church
should always come second to the King. However, this is problematic because although Henry gave
him the position of archbishop, Becket had more integrity and valued his responsibilities to the church
more than his friendship with Henry. In conclusion, although in some ways you could side with Henry,
the smarter and better choice is to go with

When confronted with conflict, people have response with courage or cowardice When confronted
with conflict, it is often faced with difficult, or even threatening, situations. Often when humanity
finds itself in conflict, coping with the struggle of interpersonal, cultural and racial, inner or moral

It is naturally human to experience conflict, we will all be forced to respond to conflict at various

However this conflict America encounter was complex it brought out both the positive values uniting
individuals together and the cruellest and inhuman responses. Resulting in America leading an
international effort to oust the Taliban regime in Afghanistan and destroy Osama bin Laden s terrorist
network. With the encountering of conflict both courage and cowardice can be seen in people.
That faced with inner conflict the individual has a choice between what is the best and the worst
decision in that conflict. Encountering conflict is often portrayed with negative experience by humans,
however it is through these experiences in which people discover inner strength that they never knew
they possessed, both physically and mentally. Through the discovery of these traits, many people can
overcome conflict and create workable solutions to difficult problems, or even make appropriate
compromises. A monumental example of this was Rosa Parks the mother of the freedom movement ,
an African American activist in the time of the black and white segregation, refused to give up her seat
in the coloured section of the bus to a white passenger, after the white section was filled. This portray
of inner strength sparked the movement of the abolishment of the segregation, empathising an

Speech Anxiety
MANAGING SEVERE SPEECH ANXIETY
TABLE OF CONTENTS
INTRODUCTION
CURRENT TRENDS AND APPLICATIONS
CONCLUSION
BIBILIOGRAPHY
INTRODUCTION Public speaking is often described as the most common fear in the world. It is also
something that many people are required to do. It may be to give a toast at a wedding, to present a
seminar at work, to make an argument to a local council, to receive an award or to be interviewed by a
board of directors for a job. Public speaking is something few people can avoid and yet it continues to
be a major fear. To understand this fear and how it can be managed and prevented, the issue will now
be looked at in more detail. This will begin with a definition of public speaking anxiety and a
discussion of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These thoughts are then replaced with more positive thoughts. For example, the speaker about to begin
the speech may think to themselves, I am going to bore these people. With cognitive restructuring, the
speaker can instead think to themselves, I am going to make this speech interesting so the audience are
not bored. These cognitive approaches are based on the speaker learning to associate different
emotions to the public speaking activity. Part of these approaches involves individuals exposing
themselves to public speaking situations. A more recent study has added a new means of achieving
this, by allowing the speaker to take part in public speaking situations via virtual reality. The study
concluded that creating a virtual audience the speaker could interact with, was as effective as using a
real audience (Pertaub, Slater Barker). Using these virtual reality environments and creating a virtual
good audience may become a new method of helping the anxious speaker associate good thoughts
with public speaking. For more minor cases of public speaking anxiety, preparation and practice are
common methods of overcoming the problem. Just like many tasks, the more able a person feels about
completing the task, the less anxiety they experience. This sense of being ready and able to complete a
task is achieved by being prepared. Practice is also important, since this makes the individual

War and Death in the Twentieth Century
The twentieth century was dominated by war and death. From the turn of the century, major powers
fought against one another trying to fight against those that oppressed them and others fighting to keep
oppressors from oppressing the people. World War I, World War II, and the Cold War were wars that
dominated this century, though there were many other, smaller, battles that took place throughout
these years. Powerful regimes that had been around for hundreds of years came crashing down with
new nations rising up in their place, dozens of peace treaties were signed to appease those that had
fought, and new political powers rose up and the rights of the people began to change. War drastically
changed the outcome of the twentieth century with the beginning of the century care free but, at the
end, many ideas and views of how life should be were shattered and war would leave a bitter memory
for many. The beginning of the twentieth century started on a high note. Most countries were pleased
with how their governments were being controlled and most of the people within those countries were
happy. However, this did not mean that everyone, or country, was happy. With the beginning and
ending of World War I, the ideas that many Europeans had supported...that man is always
progressing...that life is always improving, were shattered. Gone were the dreams of a prosperous life,
that life was good, and that wars were quick little squabble between countries with

The Treatment Of Liver Transplant Patients
Introduction
The Madison Veterans Hospital has a goal to become more accessible to its liver transplant patients.
Liver Transplant patients are an obscure sup group of veterans to pay attention to. The Madison
Veterans Hospital focuses on liver transplant patients because it is a new program within the hospital
and is the second most common type of transplant. Liver transplants in veterans are primarily a result
of hepatitis C, Nonalcoholic Steatohepatis, and liver cancer. Vietnam veterans are most likely to
undergo liver transplants because they were exposed to Agent Orange, which leads to liver disease.
Since the Madison Veterans Hospital is one of six veterans hospitals in the United States to provide
liver transplant it is working diligently to improve the unit. A perfect improvement for the Madison s
Veterans is currently being done at the Pittsburgh Veterans Hospital in Pennsylvania. It is currently
using a virtual care program that utilizes Clinical Video Telehealth, Store and Forward Telehealth,
Home Telehealth, Secure Messaging, E Consults, and SCAN ECHO. This program allows patients
and specialists to converse without making rural patients travel to the hospital. It uses video
conferencing to make the process simpler. Madison s Veterans Hospital would try this innovation on
liver transplant patients; if it worked well within the first year it would expand to all transplant units.

Since that had set everybody off, people started questioning the decisions of the Queen, specifically

The nation of Brazil believes that their is indeed a need for a solution to the refugee problem, that in

Wuthering Heights In Emily Brontë s only book Wuthering Heights, her descriptions of the two houses Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange create distinct atmospheres that mirror the actions of the inhabitants that reside within them. Although they lie within miles of each other, they are two very different places. Never have two more opposing places existed than Thrushcross Grange and Wuthering Heights. Wuthering Heights is a representation of uncontrollable emotions, lack of discipline and chaos. Thrushcross Grange is a peaceful, beautiful abode which epitomizes all that is good and lovely. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Brontë has apposed them in every way, even the names indicate what kind of house we should expect. The beautiful and well kept Thrushcross Grange can be viewed as a haven when compared to the chaotic Wuthering Heights. Wuthering Heights symbolizes the anger, hatred and deep felt tension of that house while Thrushcross Grange embodies the superficial feelings and materialistic outlook of its inhabitants. The contrast between the houses is more than physical; rather these two houses represent the people which are living in them. Brontë made Heathcliff and Wuthering Height as one, by making both of them cold, dark, and menacing, similar to the storms which constantly surround both Heathcliff and Wuthering Heights. Thrushcross Grange is parallel with the Linton s; who are of a welcoming and peaceful manner; who have had virtually perfect lives and who have been hidden by their parents, from the evils of the outside world. It is clear, that in Emily Brontë s Wuthering Heights both Thrushcross Grange and Wuthering Heights are two very different places. Maddox DeVry University April 21, 2013 Role of Women in the Paleolithic and Modern Period * Women of the Paleolithic and Modern periods both have role models that have different meanings such as their role in society and their body image; however the way the males have treated these women showed little respect. During the Paleolithic period a sculpture was carved from using simple carving tools to create a masterpiece that is known today as the Venus of Willendorf. The Venus of Willendorf has suggested to archeologists that the sculpture was to have been an image of fertility, which is how their existence survived for so many years. Venus of Willendorf was a role model for the perfect female form for her obesity; however today women have strived to have the Barbie look. In the, Stone Age fat was beautiful because it meant vitality and fertility (Paige, 2004, p. 4). There were many different body shapes of woman from the Paleolithic period, but there is only one that really stood out and served as a role model for their village. Venus of Willendorf is sculpted in a way that clearly shows her obesity and why she is the role model for the Paleolithic period. She was sculpted with a large stomach that overhangs a fat roll that extends around the middle, a flat butt and large thighs that are pressed together on her knees. Despite its great contribution to the economy, the effects that it has on the environment appears to be of great concern. For example rainforests are a great and important source of wood, oxygen and medicine for everyone. Rainforests in the amazon in particular are known for its alluvial deposits of gold that are found at river banks after major floods and river channels. In order for miners to mine gold, hydraulic mining techniques are often used. This method involves the process of blasting at the riverbanks that results to irreversible damage to trees and animals. Through the process of separating the mercury and the sediment from gold yielding gravel deposits, miners who appear to be less equipped than industrial miners sometimes may ignore the release of some of the mercury into the river. The mercury is then likely to enter the food chain through water animals as well as their predators. Highly compound cyanide is also used to separate gold from sediment and rock. Literature review and Research Questions Research has illustrated that athletic competition has a strong influence on psychological development, impacting an individual s formation in areas such as self esteem, body image and overall well being (Anshel, 2000; Findlay Bowker, 2007; Haugen, Safvenbom Ommundsen, 201; Peden, Stiles, Vandehey Diekhoff, 2008). A large sector of this research has specifically analyzed the outcomes of negative experiences within athletics, especially those high in stress and therefore resulting in potentially detrimental consequences for athletes. A major source of stress within athletics is due to potential and veritable athletic injuries due to overuse, during game accidents and other competition/training related afflictions (Hanson, McCullagh Tonymon, 1992). Approximately 3 5 million injuries occur due to athletics each year (Smith, Smoll Ptacek, 1990), and the prevalence of such injuries suggests that the trauma experienced could pose a significant threat to athletes, both physically and psychologically, a phenomenon that warrants further investigation. For the past 30 years or so, research has evaluated the manner with which people handle stressful situations, which include athletic injury, and across the literature it has been consistently and reliably found that people vary in the manner with which they express well being across stressful life events (Carver, Scheier Weintraub,1989; DeLongis Holtzman, 2005; Smith, Smoll ... I really thought this quote was interesting because it gives perspective on how affective this event was for the Jewish, they not only were leaving everything they had behind, but some of the faith and religion they carried with them. Page ten, chapter 1, I chose the passage, The race to death had begun. (Wiesel 10) as an important style of writing. This quote is personifying how quickly death reached some of the Jews from Sighet. I think this use of personification, which is the style figure of speech, is a big factor to the text because, it enhances the amount of emotion it makes you feel while reading. In this passage, the use of personification is a major element because it is making us feel the emotion of fear that they all have. [This is too short to be a paragraph on its own.] Violence almost defines Bonnie and Clyde. It runs like a silver thread through the entire film. Graphic violence is today a rather common and somewhat natural characteristic of modern cinema, but before Bonnie and Clyde, it certainly was not. Arthur Penn introduced it in 1967. Before Bonnie and Clyde violence in film was hinted at or just implied through various sorts of acting techniques. Arthur Penn decided to show the audience the real, brutal and raw side to violence, using brilliant camerawork but more importantly, top notch special effects and masterful visual skills. In Bonnie and Clyde the violence never feels fake, but terrifyingly real.
