The New Negro Of The Harlem Renaissance
The New Negro Movement, also known as The Harlem Renaissance, was a time in the early twentieth
century where African Americans embraced literature, music, theatre, and visual arts (Alchin). They
were inspired and gave inspiration to many blacks in the community. The Great Migration was the
beginning of the Harlem Renaissance it is, where it began the most significant movement in the black
history. After World War I, more than six million African Americans traveled from the rural South to
the cities of the North, Midwest, and West to achieve economic and social benefit, and a new home in
Harlem, New York City (History.com Staff). It has been a synonym for being a center of culture,
intelligence, and fashion (Harlem). That exact time period gave black people opportunity to grow, to
prosper, and to express. Through art, they have shown the value of life, even though there was brutal
racism, injustice in black identity, and slavery. This is a movement in the black culture to show that
they are just more than the color of their skin.
The Harlem Renaissance started after World War I. Northern factories had a huge demand for workers;
southern blacks took this opportunity to leave the oppressive economic conditions in the South (Great
Migration). Most of them resided in Harlem, New York City. Artists in this movement had either
painted pictures of everyday tasks, wrote poetry about freedom, and/or played jazz. It has highly

Alternative Energy Argument Essay
The Alternative energy industry in the United States has been at a steady rate of growth for the past
decade, however there is still controversy over the use of renewable energies, their impact on the
economy, and their impact on the environment. As controversial as the topic is, the argument boils
down to a moral need to support environmental regulations, and an economical need to sustain
domestic growth in the Energy industry of the United States. Mainly, the question is can alternative
energy effective replace fossil fuels? There are of course arguments for both sides of this question.
One faction would say, yes, of course alternative energies can effectively replace our current use of
fossil fuels. One such supporter on this stance is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Truck Drivers Myths
We know you ve heard people talk about the trucking industry; most have no idea what they re talking
about, not to mention seeing the entertainment industry bash on truck drivers for one reason or
another. People who don t personally know truckers don t know what the life is like, so we re here to
set the facts straight to some of the most common myths about truck drivers and the industry.
Myth #1
Truck drivers are drug users or serial killers Truck drivers often get stuck with a bad reputation thanks
to the movie industry where many truckers portray drug abusers, outlaws and violent criminals. First,
to debunk the drug abuse, due to the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991, drug and
alcohol screening must be done in numerous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sure, movies may show truck drivers as violent criminals, and there have been some cases of that;
however, most of the time, truckers are responsible, helpful people who fight crime daily and respond

Myth #2
Truck drivers cause traffic accidents Did you know that truck drivers are 3 times less likely to get into
an accident than a normal vehicle and 4 times more likely to pass inspection than passenger vehicles?
Only 2.4% of commercial drivers are involved in traffic accidents.
Myth #3
Male truckers are better drivers than females Along with the myth that there are few women in the
trucking industry, the myth that male truck drivers are better than female truck drivers exists as well.
We ve all heard it before...men are better drivers than women, so it really comes as no surprise that
this myth exists. In the United States, there are over 200,000 women with a career in the trucking
industry. Female truckers are 3 times less likely to get into a traffic accident than male truck drivers, 5
times less likely to violate safety regulations, and 4 times more likely to pass the exam to obtain their

The Meaning Of The Word Proof Essay
Foreman address the meaning of the word proof in the context of questions concerning God s
existence or non existence. He specifies that in this context, proof does not mean as it does in its more
natural context, mathematics, a demonstration that within the agreed on axioms follows necessarily,
but rather something else, and nevertheless of value. A proof of God, says Foreman, are defeasible, yet
have not (yet) been defeated. They are valuable because they offer the best explanation for what we
observe in nature. McCloskey does not share Foreman s sense of proof. His line of thought runs as
follows: since the proofs of God s existence cannot be definitively established they are defeasible,
unlike mathematical proofs they should be abandoned. This seems like a totalitarian gesture, since we
know that multiple, often paradoxical senses, can run through the same signifier, in this case, proof,
yet to McCloskey, because the sense of proof that he demands is not pertinent in this context, the word
is mistaken, and therefore the arguments and whatever values they may share ought to be abandoned.
This is not a strong position, but rather reflective of a miserly relationship to words multiple senses.
McCloskey nevertheless attends to specific claims presented in each of the more popular proofs for
God s existence. Regarding the Cosmological Proof, he says, the existence of the world does not
entitle one to hold that, since the world consists of an

Strategic problem definition: Acquisition of IBM PC division as part of the expansion strategy.
Causes: Lenovo was number 9 on PC market and had 2.2% market share worldwide and therefore it
wanted to increase its market share position. Lenovo became a market leader in China with 27%
market share and wanted to expand. They first tried to diversify into non PC areas but they failed and

o acquiring LG Laptops (option 3.4.) would lead to a small increase, as LG is not one of the big laptop
producers. o expanding in the non PC area via smartphones (option 3.5.) would not do anything for
the current market share, as we would be talking about a different market segment altogether.
It provides quick and extensive access to a large distribution network of retail and corporate
customers, lowering distribution costs (the same goes for option 3.3., which also brings Lenovo
contact with IBM s network) o option 3.2. keeps Lenovo isolated in the home market o option 3.4.
would bring with it a small distribution network, proportionate to the small size of the LG laptop
division. o option 3.5. might mean a possibly large network, but, as it is in another production sector,
so it could not be easily coupled with Lenovo s existing one.
It provides the possibility of brand capitalization, in the sense that Lenovo would take advantage of
the reputation and customer base of IBM and incorporate them through the acquisition, lowering
marketing costs o in the case of a merger, the brand name would be probably shared for the whole
duration of the partnership. o under options 3.4. and 3.5., as said before, LG is not a brand name in IT
or in smartphones, so Lenovo could not use this to attract more

The American Counseling Association was established in the mid 1900 s. It is an organization that
many counselor or future counselors may consider as their bible. With a very informative website

knowledge about counseling as well as suggested membership to the various divisional organizations
associated with ACA. While browsing through the website, I found many surprising facts in addition

Counseling Association has various divisions/organizations that are very informative and beneficial
for counselor or students pursuing a counseling career. There are some interesting facts about these
divisions I researched. Becoming a member of ACA and a division are extremely beneficial. Even
though some counselors are viewed as though they have no issues whether financially or mentally, all
of these benefits prove this view wrong. Members of ACA are given great discounts on everyday life
needs such as different insurances. There are other ways to save once you become a member. I found
this to be intriguing because it shows that counselors need help as well. Other benefits such as
continued education, networking, and activities for advocating certain divisions of ACA are available.

Face when you hear this word, what comes to our mind? The thing that comes to mind is the front part
of head that has eyes, nose and mouth on it. But the notion of face is a little bit different in terms of

Firsty,we can analyze the Chinese language and what has been written about the the notion of face.
When we analyze what has been written in Chinese,we can see many thing about the notion of the
face.David Yau fai Ho(1976)in his journal On the Concept of Face explains and demonstrate the many
aspects of the notion of face. Face is the(Chinese) social ideology which determine the status of
people in the society.Ho(1976)continues to explain the notion of face in Chinise.Face isn t a
stable/standard behavior but it is a mixture of judgements concerning the extent.Face isn t seen as an
analytic exercise but it can be used in literature, everyday speech and figurative meaning. Face is both
the mixture of nuances of social interactions and values that is given in the society. Face isn t stable
thing. Ho(1976)explains that the notion of face is in Chinese origin and this notion is the literal
translation of Chinese lien and mien tzu.Hu(1944)makes an important distinction between these two
concepts of face. Mien tzu reflects the prestige of person in the society but the lien reflects the
confidence of people in the society. In spite of these distinction, they can be used together in Chinese
context. Loss of face comes out when a person fails to meet some requirements in society. For Chinese
maintenance of face is similar to being moral member of society. Gaining

Institutional living was a phenomenon between 1660 and 1800 which housed persons to be considered
in poverty, incapacitated and unable to integrate in normal society namely the sick, mad and
handicapped were incarcerated. Development of the industrial society implemented processes towards
aptitude for the industrial system which excluded many disabled people (Roulstone Prideaux, 2008).
By 1834 the act defined the workhouse as a staging post for dangerous lunatics that were progressed
to specialist asylums. The eighteenth century workhouses were institutional settings with the largest
history of housing disabled people. The new poor law which was the amendment act of the Poor Law
Act 1834, excluded inappropriate dependency, as a consequence it removed political rights from
disabled people deeming them unfit for democracy or political citizenship (Borsay, 2005). The civil
rights of disabled people detained in workhouses on grounds of mental impairment were defective,
excluding them from mainstream society with little freedom of movement (Frazer, 2003).
In 1942 Sir William Beveridge presented a report to parliament devoted to social insurance and allied

Dickinson s Riddle
Emily Dickinson died before her works were attempted to be analyzed and interpreted, suggesting
perhaps that the mysteries, abstractions, and double meanings were for her own enjoyment, and all
answers if there were any died with her ( Explanation ). Glimpsing at just a few of Dickinson s poems
is sure to catch the eye of a reader, posing questions of grammatical soundness. Capital letters, dots,
and dashes appear consistently, but maybe there is a reason behind it all. Emily Dickinson uses
punctuation in a non traditional way throughout her poems, contributing to the effect and meaning of
her works, such as My Life had stooda Loaded Gun, After great pain, a formal feeling comes,
and Wild NightsWild Nights!
Emily Dickinson employs commonly used punctuation marks in an uncommon way, riddling many of
her poems. Emily Dickinson s poems, like inlay, tend to be made of splinters of thought and sight,
often brilliant fragments, held together by a mosaic sense of pattern, joined irregularly by dashes
(Wilner). Although dashes appear the most, some works also contain explanation marks. Exclamation
marks in Dickinson s poems suggest strong feeling in her thoughts, interjecting passion and
excitement throughout. The punctuation used by the author enhances her works and helps to draw in
her audience.
Dickinson s My Life had stood a Loaded Gun contains en dashes from beginning to end, giving

Han s Rewards Exposed In Our Twisted Hero
When a person abandons his or her beliefs of principle and reason it leads to submission. The book
Our Twisted Hero by Yi Munyol, takes place in South Korea. It focuses on a new student, Han Pyongt
ae, transitioning to a new school with a harsh class monitor, Om Sokdae. This harshness causes Han to
breakdown after a night of rebellion against Om. Han s abandonment allows him to start to see the
rewards of submitting to Om s rule. These rewards included him getting a taste of power, and being
included instead ostracized from classroom society.Han truly recognizes it, and as he says, Needless to
say I was completely intoxicated by the special sweetness Sokdae had allowed me to taste (Munyol

This is a complete flip of the script from when in 5th grade when given the opportunity and they all
said nothing. To in 6th grade, all the children seize the opportunity to all rat out Om to the teacher. As
the class had this opportunity they began to utilize it, Han speaks of, They seemed to be no more than
traitors who had waited for Sokdae to fall before jumping in on him and walking all over him (Munyol
97). This is a perfect example of how abandonment of principle leads to submission. After being
beaten and seeing their leader fall, one after another they gave up their principals and beliefs in the old
system and submitted to the new teacher. In fact as they more began to fall and submit the words
seemed to jump out of their mouths and attack their old leader. These traitors found it convenient to
abandon their old system of beliefs and not having anything else to base things off of, and submit to
the new system of authority. Being able to reap the rewards and being traitors to their old system, this
shows how the students in the 6th grade class illustrate how the abandonment of reason and principle

Conspiracy Theories Of The Illuminati
There are many people in the United States who want to believe that the government is honest with
them, but do the people truly know everything or is there something that is being kept a secret? The
Illuminati was created as a secret government organization that was said to supposedly have control
over every single an aspect of the lives of the regular people. It started in the 18th century by Adam
Weishaupt ( www.theweek.co.uk.org ). The people who are apart of the Illuminati are said to be
famous stars within the popular media. For example, Beyonce and her husband Jay Z are said to be the
rulers, or leaders, of the organization. There are still a lot of controversies about whether or not the
Illuminati is still existing today. It is hard to say whether or not this secret organization exists. There
are many different conspiracy theories about the Illuminati. But once all of the details and theories are
sorted through and broken down, it is not hard to realize that there is something more going on than
the government is allowing the people to see. It is important when talking about the Illuminati to
understand where it all came from. As said previously, the founder of this organization was Adam
Weishaupt. The organization was also founded in Bavaria ( www.theweek.co.uk.org ). This group
wanted to create a new world order and were willing to do whatever it took in order to make that goal

The Word Simplicity By Henry David Thoreau
Final Exam Essay The word Simplicity is what Henry David Thoreau strongly asserted in Walden. He
believed that the simplest of things would be more beneficial to people s lifestyles. However, I believe
that we should that we should have a combination of simple things and also some luxuries, in order to
be more successful in life. There are many ways in which a luxury and something of simplicity can be
very beneficial to us. With the two in our life, we will be on the correct path to success. Simple things
can better our life, but so can luxuries. That s why it is very beneficial for us to have the benefits that
both the simple things and luxuries give us. Thoreau once stated I did not use tea, nor coffee, nor
butter, nor milk, nor fresh ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thoreau believes that we shouldn t work hard, but I on the other hand believe that we need to work
hard. In order to live a good life and be able to provide for our potential families , we must work hard
so we can better ourselves and become successful. Working hard will help us better our education to
receive more knowledge and further ourselves in a successful career to earn enough money to live a
good lifestyle. Another luxury that I have is living in a good household. With a roof over my head I
am better protected from the outside world and not left vulnerable to the horrible things that could
happen. However, we don t need an expensive luxurious house, but we do need to have the luxury of
having some kind of roof over our heads in order to be satisfied with our lives. A house like Thoreau s
which hardly cost more than the annual rent of such a ruin as his commonly amounts, is just as
beneficial. Thus proving that having the simple things in life can also benefit us just as luxuries can.
While many people enjoy getting luxurious clothing, it is sometimes good to have something simple
as Thoreau did. Simple clothing can essentially save you money and help you to get other things that
are more important. We don t need to have the luxury of fancy clothing, but people just want it to look
good. Buying fancy clothing doesn t benefit you in the long run because all

Indeed, the working scenario where design centers on is quite complex and unpredictable. Inserting
knowledge in a context of totality, such as the environment in which humans interact, allows the
complexity of this environment to be seen in a globalized and interdependent way, retrieving the sense
of unity that has been lost by the values of specialness; complex because, as stated by Couto et al.
(2004) design focuses at the human and the environment in which it interacts, requiring an accurate

unpredictable, because, according to Wyatt (2014), unlike other professions who walk in a more usual

Explain Three Ways To Reduce The Cost Of Buying A New Home
Three Ways to Reduce the Cost of Buying a New Home Through Builder Incentives
There are many great advantages to buying a new home versus a pre owned home. But they do tend to
cost more, and the location is limited. Although there is not much that can be done about where the
new housing tract is located, there are a few things you can do to try and get the cost of a home down.
Your best options will relate directly to builder incentives. The following are a few ways you can do
this.
New home purchase rebates
Just like the automotive industry, when new homes sales are slow, builders may offer rebates.
Sometimes it s due to the general economy, but new home sales can be slow in a particular state or
even a particular new tract of homes. These rebates can take different forms, but most of them are
related to a reduced commission from the real estate agent. They agree to reduce their commission,
and share it with the home buyer. The way this works varies. Sometimes it can be a reduction in
closing costs, but it can also be a cash amount paid to you. In this case, it will be the real estate agent
that pays you the rebate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will sometimes do this for the slower moving homes in a new tract. Often these are the homes
that didn t have some of the options other homes in the same tract had. In order to sell these homes,

increase in the home s price tag. Examples of these upgrades include a skylight, appliance upgrades,

The Between Science And Christianity
I remember it well as if it were yesterday, but it over 40 years ago when I walked into Dr. E s. Office
asking for his opinion about something; that I needed help having to do with correctly responding to
the interrelationship between Science and Christianity. I had my own discernment and interpretation
on this topic, but I wanted a practical, realistic way to approach this discussion when asked, even if it
was a couple days later, or during a confirmation class. Though I did not have Dr. E as a professor, or
took one of his courses in geology, I knew that he could help me in a constructive way. Dr. E. was my
mentor and sponsor and he was always receptive to anything that I had to ask whether it was a simple
or complex question of the day. On that day, I wanted to know his understanding of God s creation of
science, its separation from, but more so to its correlation to the theology of Christianity. At times, I
was puzzled by some people s insistence that the two shall never meet. Where I was coming from the
standpoint and still hold true, that Jesus, Son of God is the Great Physician as recounted in the
healings parables and based and John 5:1 9. I also believed and have no problem seeing that science
and medical advances were beneficial and true blessings from God. Another vital point of
understanding that I base this reflection upon is the profound belief that that God works his power and
purpose through the means of science as wisdom and hard work is expressed

Social Hierarchies In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
Traditionally, social hierarchies are how individuals are arranged based on how they act and look.
These social hierarchies are found in many species, but are the most complex in humans. Social
hierarchies are especially present in John Steinbeck s book, Of Mice and Men, which is about two
farmers trying to find work in the great depression. Throughout the book, Steinbeck challenges these
traditional social hierarchies. While some people can be higher up in the social hierarchy because of
how they were born, this does not mean that they are better people, and challenges conventional social
hierarchies by showing that they can shift. Very quickly into the book, there is a very clear binary
between the first two characters, Lennie and George. Steinbeck describes George as small and quick,
dark of face, with restless eyes and sharp, strong features (2). The other character, Lennie, Steinbeck
describes as the complete opposite: a huge man, shapeless of face, with large, pale eyes, with wide,
sloping shoulders; and he walked heavily, dragging his feet a little, the way a bear drags his paws (2).
From these descriptions, one would assume Lennie were the leader of the two because of his huge size
and power. Steinbeck disproves this, showing that it is in fact the other way ... Show more content on

Stereotypes In African American Films
Throughout this chapter, Korgen main arguments pertained to the media s portrayal of Black and
White biracial characters in movies. Typically the media portrays people with lighter skin to have
more positive characteristics while people with darker skin more negative characteristics. Media is
one first place young children get these images from and it can have a huge impression on them
without even knowing it. They are placed within this social class of existence. Viewers tend to pay the
most attention to characters who share their age, race, and gender and those they wish they could be
like (Korgen, 2010, pg. 89). Biracial Americans go through the toughest scrutiny by both races on
whether they fit into either group. I know my brother and sister have this issue from the time they
were little especially my sister, she is lighter skinned and was never truly accepted by the black or
white girls at school.

Fire, from humans first interactions with it, has been terrifying, delighting, and mysterious all at once.
Yet it is impossible to imagine a day passing without any interactions with the phenomenon. From
burning wood in the fireplace, to preparing tea on a stove operating with natural gas, to using charcoal
for a backyard barbecue, different objects are chosen as the source of combustion depending on the
task that they need to accomplish. Furthermore, with parents, teachers, and firefighters incessantly

and consequences of combusting certain fuels.
Background Information
The combustion of the hydrocarbons and organic molecules found in fuels is a chemical reaction that
primarily involves the oxidation of carbon and hydrogen in various compounds to release heat and
produce water and carbon dioxide. When the environment lacks sufficient oxygen, rendering oxygen
as the limiting reagent in the reaction, incomplete combustion would occur. This involves the
production of other chemicals such as carbon monoxide and solid carbon in addition to water and
carbon dioxide. The general chemical equations for the incomplete and complete combustion of
hydrocarbons are as follows:
Complete: CxHy + O2(g) → H2O(l) + CO2(g)
Incomplete: CxHy + O2(g) → H2O(l) + CO2(g) + CO(g) + C(s)
Of course, the composition of each fuel varies, yet the main organic molecule they contain can be used
to formulate the basic chemical reaction that is undergone when each substance is combusted. In the
case with fondue fuel, methanol is the main substance that is responsible for combustion and can be
represented with the following equation (NIST 2015):
2 CH3OH(l) + 3 O2(g) → 2 CO2(g) + 4 H2O(l),where is 725.7 kJ/mol

Entering into a Business Relationship in the United Kingdom In 1970, three thousand Datsun cars
rusting on the docks of Rotterdam, abandoned by the existing U.K. concessionaire, was the catalyst
for the relationship that developed between Nissan United Kingdom Limited (Nissan U.K.) and
Nissan Motor Company of Japan (Nissan M.C.). Nissan Motor Company approached Octav Botnar,
who arranged the transshipment and sale of the Rotterdam Datsun automobiles. Botnar had arrived in
Great Britain from West Germany in 1966 to reorganize a failing and insolvent U.K. distribution
company (See Appendix A). By 1969, he had increased company sales by 300% with ... Show more

sales exceeded 100,000, whereas Toyota sold 28,000 and Honda only 19,500. Octav Botnar respected
Chairman Katsuji Kawamata and President Takashi Ishihara, the two senior Nissan Motor Company
executives, and they in turn respected him and depended heavily on his talents and advice. He and
Ishihara had an understanding that any major operational difficulties could be referred directly to

1989: For years, a strict regimen governed the staff meetings at Nissan Motor Company s technical

but also their date of hire. No one could voice an opinion until everybody with more seniority had

Masquerade Concert, Halloween Spooktacular, Arranged By...
Out of the three pieces that the Artiste Orchestra prepared to the Masquerade Concert, Halloween
Spooktacular, arranged by Bob Phillips, was definitely the hardest piece. Not only was it long, but it
was fast and had passages with difficult fingerings. By no means have I perfected this piece, but I used
several different practice techniques to help me master the fast tempo and difficult fingerings. The
technique that I used the most was probably using a metronome. I would start by playing a passage
very slowly, probably around 80 100 beats per minute depending on the passage. Then, once I had
mastered the passage at that speed, I would increase the tempo by 10 beats per minute and practice the
passage at that speed until I had mastered it. Then, I would increase the tempo another 10 beats per
minute and repeat the same process. I would continue this same process until I had mastered that
section at tempo. It was at these slower speeds that I could really focus on the little things, such as
intonation, rhythm, dynamics and articulation because by focusing on these elements as slow speeds,
it would be easier to bring them into the piece at faster speeds. Another practice technique I attempted
to use to practice Halloween Spooktacular was playing along with a recorded version of the piece.
This is a technique I used for several pieces last year because I find it helpful to hear all the parts of a
piece, not just my own. Unfortunately, after one or two attempts to play along

The series I m reviewing is called Escape from Furnace by the UK author Alexander Gordon Smith.
The book is written in the main character, Alex Sawyer s, point of view. Alex is not a very good
person, but the reason he was sent to furnace was for the framed death of his best friend Toby. Alex s
fate was decided when he started his life sentence, and was lowered into the bowels of the
underground Penitentiary. The thief turned inmate, Alex Sawyer, meets Zee, who was framed for
murder, and Donovan, who murdered his mother s abusive boyfriend. They start planning their escape
when Alex feels a draft come from a collapsed chipping room. Alex, Zee, and Donovan smuggle gas

Development of the European Union
What would become the European Union developed out of a need to negate the war making potential
of European powers, namely Germany as well as to foster economic recovery in countries whose
economies were all but destroyed. It was thought that tying the main armaments making resources,
coal and steel, together in a supernational organisation responsible for its management would serve
both roles. It has been developing since 1951 and keeps evolving. What one sees as a transformation
from something similar to a customs union not too unlike Benelux, to a political union and finally a
monetary union, albeit an incomplete one. The fundamental bodies that comprise what is now the
European Union are still for the most part based on the spirit of the Treaties of Rome. The
development of the EU as whole will be explored as well as the bodies that comprise it. How those
bodies have improved as well as any weaknesses that still characterise them will be explained.
As mentioned above what would become the EU began as the European Coal and Steel Community in
1952. With the signing of the Treaty of Paris, the framework was laid for a common administration
amongst European states. With coal and steel being two of the most crucial commodities in the wars
that tore the continent apart in the 20th Century, it seemed a logical place to start. A supernational
authority, known as the High Authority made decisions by which member states would be bound,
decisions which put interests

Essay about Finding True Freedom in Kate Chopin s The...
Finding True Freedom in The Awakening
Kate Chopin s novel, The Awakening details the endeavors of heroine Edna Pontellier to cope with the
realization that she is not, nor can she ever be, the woman she wants to be. Edna has settled for less.
She is married for all the wrong reasons, saddled with the burden of motherhood, and trapped by
social roles that would never release her. The passage below is only one of the many tender and
exquisitely sensory passages that reveal Edna s soul to the reader.
The voice of the sea is seductive; never ceasing, whispering, dancing, murmuring, inviting the soul to
wander for a spell in abysses of solitude; to lose itself in mazes of inward contemplation. The voice of
the sea speaks to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She would sometimes gather them passionately to her heart; she would sometimes forget them (37).
There is nothing wrong with lacking the maternal instincts that Edna does. What is wrong is living in a
society that makes you feel guilty for not bearing litter after litter, and then fussing about them until
your dying day. Thus, Edna endures her thoughts in secret shame: Their absence was a relief, though
she did not admit this, even to herself. It seemed to free her of a responsibility which she had blindly
assumed and for which Fate had not fitted her (37). Mrs. Pontellier was not meant to be some
matronly icon. This situation is a prime example of the life she did not voluntarily choose, but was
forced to live. Edna was, in truth, no less of a woman for her instincts (or lack thereof). She only had
the misfortune of living at a time when such choices were unacceptable, when women were still
judged by the softness of their bread and the size of their brood.
In addition, Edna had more or less stumbled into her marriage, which was purely an accident (36). She
did it to spite her parents, because Leonce worshipped her (37), and because she realized that no trace
of passion or excessive and fictitious warmth colored her affection, thereby threatening its dissolution
(37). While this is practical and realistic, it sounds remarkably unlike a marriage out of love; a
marriage that would fulfill her desires.

Dracula Summary Chapter 14
During chapter 14 of the novel Dracula we see one of our protagonists, Jonathan Harker, travel to
London with his wife, Mina Harker, where they plan to group up with the group of people working to
put an end to Count Dracula, including Dr.Van Helsing and Dr.Seward. As Mr.Harker recovers from
his nervous breakdown from the previous chapter which was brought about when he caught sight of a
man who resembled Dracula Dr.Van Helsing reassures Mr.Harker. After reading through Mr.Harker s
journal Dr.Van Helsing determines that everything Mr.Harker had experienced was real. From that
point onward all of the trauma and fear Jonathan Harker had experienced after being Dracula s
prisoner was erased. In fact, Mr.Harker goes on to write about how eager he is to help in putting an

Capitalismism And Environment
In order to answer questions about: if green consumption being able to solve environmental problems,
if purchasing eco friendly products as well as green technology is the answer to global environmental
degradation, and if capitalism is able to save the environment or not, background information certainly
needs to be presented before my personal opinion is contributed.
To introduce capitalism, society, and the environment, I would like to begin with the statement that
humans affect nature, or the natural environment. Pollution and depletion are two ways this happens.
On one side with pollution, the environment becomes contaminated by toxic items. On the other side
with depletion, the environment s natural resources are being exhausted. Even though both are
negative and both are bad for the environment, not one of them is necessarily better to have. To
discuss capitalism, seeking profit and private property is what capitalism strives for. This is essentially
their main desire. In slightly simpler words, it seeks to collect capital, or money. Capitalism affects the
environment in a negative way, but it also causes stratification. The way it does this is by exploiting
workers.
Thinkers who are Ecological Marxists are contemporary thinkers who added onto Karl Marx s theory
original proposed thought processes about capitalism. Ecological Marxist Theory brings to light the
issues between capitalism s means of production and the environment. It explains how capitalism is

A Great Children s Book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland...
In the 1800s a great author created a great book and inspired a different way of writing. Alice s
Adventures in Wonderland is known as one of best children s story book. Alice s Adventures in
Wonderland is one of the most famous and enduring children s classics. The novel is full of whimsical
charm, and a feeling for the absurd that is unsurpassed. The book begins with a young girl Alice,
bored under a tree in the meadow by a river, reading a book with her sister. Everything seems
perfectly normal and peaceful; there could be nothing more in keeping with the middle class Victorian
world in which Carroll lived. The tale plays with logic giving the story lasting image with adults as
well as with children. Its narrative course and structure, characters and imagery have been hugely
influenced in both popular culture and literature, especially in the fantasy part. It is considered to be
one of the best examples of the literary nonsense genre. Our author Lewis Carroll is actually a name
he chose as his author name as his pen name. He is Charles Lutwidge Dodgson born and raised in
England Carroll had a very happy childhood. His mother was patient and friendly, and his father
despite his religious work tutored all of his children and raised them to be well rounded people.
Carroll frequently made up games for him and his brothers and wrote short stories and poems, which
were similar to his later published works. Once he found writing it all came clear to him, it became his

Plain Capitalism Vs Democratic Capitalism
Capitalism is an omnipresent system that has taken on many unique and defined forms throughout its
existence. While capitalism comes in a variety of disguises, one thing about capitalism has always
remained the same the nature of its selfish being. Capitalism thrives on hard work. Individuals that
work hard will undoubtedly be rewarded. On the contrary, those that are not able to work are left in a
dreadful predicament. Even with two distinct versions of capitalism plain capitalism and democratic
capitalism both involve the necessary component of free enterprise. Capitalism considers free
enterprise something to be achieved individually with rewards intended for just oneself. Adam Smith
came along and challenged that notation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To further illustrate this concept, I will share with you my time working in an undisclosed animal park
compared to my time working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at a hospital. The animal park was
innovative and practically screamed free enterprise. There were rules, regulations, and an ethical code
of conduct all necessary components for democratic capitalism. However, higher ups were not elected
they were appointment by the owner. Likewise in the hospital setting, supervisors were also appointed
from upper management. Something unique about working in the hospital, however, was that there
were elected members of a resident government needed for democratic capitalism. Following Adam
Smith s theory, the hospital I worked for had many incentives in place. At the hospital, I could
accumulate paid time off and earn additional bonuses for picking up unscheduled shifts. As Smith
would have predicted, I undoubtedly worked harder at the hospital because the only incentive to work
at the animal park was for my check and nothing additional. At the hospital, I felt more involved with
my work. Although one might argue against healthcare and its intentions, I worked hard because I
believed that I personally was helping

Dress During The Victorian Era
My MTP combines historical and contemporary elements to create an ensemble which has strong ties
to the past and the clothes worn during the Victorian era but is also modern and wearable in formal
settings. The Victorian era (1837 1901) was a time in which modesty was an important influence on
their style of clothing and because of this, women turned to other ways to show off their figure and
femininity such as corsetry. Corsets, often stiffened with either whale bone or steel, were used to
emphasis the tiny waistline that was coveted at this time while the full skirt was often built up with
hoops and up to ten layers of starched petticoats and was a symbol of wealth and status among the
higher classes. The method of adding decorative pintucking is one that was very popular in the
Victorian era but has been modernised to suit my ensemble while still maintaining an air of the
historical influence. The structure of my ensemble also incorporates both period elements such as the
steel spiral boning I have used and the petticoats used to create bulk in my skirt as well as
contemporary elements such as underwire in the cups ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to emphasis the narrow waist that was desired of a woman and has, in modern times, resurfaced as a
popular style for gowns for red carpet and other formal events as my ensemble is designed to be,

Abortion Restrictions In The Planned Parenthood V. Casey Case
decrease as well. While some of these restrictions are important and play a vital role in protecting the
client, there appears to be a lack of policies and laws required for women who are post abortive. Some
of these abortion policies, laws, and restrictions that are currently in place will be explored briefly,
starting from the beginning.
In 1973, elective abortion was decriminalized in the United States in the milestone Supreme Court
case Roe vs. Wade (Ely Dulmus, 2010). Then, in 1992, the decision in the Planned Parenthood v.
Casey case established that abortion restrictions cannot create an undue burden on a woman seeking
an abortion (Guttmacher Institute, 2017). This decision was then confirmed in Whole Woman s Health
v. Hellerstedt in 2016 which determined that scientific evidence must be considered when assessing
the constitutionality of abortion restrictions (Guttmacher Institute, 2017). Despite the results of these
Court cases; laws, policies, and restrictions continue to be enacted which create complications (or
unnecessary burdens) for women who are seeking abortion. Most recently, within the last ten years,
there has been a sharp increase in the number of abortion related laws that have been endorsed.
Between 2008 and 2010, a total of 18 states enacted 44 abortion related laws with 62 new abortion
restrictions being passed in 2011 (Jones Jerman, 2014). Then, according to the Guttmacher Institute

The Allied Powers of the First World War
I. Introduction
During the First World War (1914 1918) The United Kingdom was one of the Allied Powers, fighting
against the Central Powers (the German Empire, the Austro Hungarian Empire, the Ottoman Empire
and the Kingdom of Bulgaria).
In 1914, British Army did not have the power to fight a major war on the continent, and throughout
the course of military actions had to multiply in size fourteen times (Chandler/ Beckett 211). Nature of
the conflict that forced reorganization of the British Army, including raising one of the largest all
volunteer militaries in history, creation of the Royal Air Force, and use of conscription, as well as
facing modern and far more brutal weapons resulted in tremendous changes in the British warfare.
British commanders, experienced in fighting small colonial wars, had to quickly adapt to a very
different set of circumstances.
The end of War marked a decline in the respect of authority. Economical effects of massive casualties,
during carnages like the Battle of the Somme (1916), became felt and evidences of Generals
incompetence were brought to light (for example in 1927 publication of Lions Led by Donkeys:
Showing how victory in the Great War was achieved by those who made the fewest mistakes by
British Captain P.A. Thompson). The criticism intensified after the end of the Second World War,
when massive sacrifices of the previous war were put in perspective. Publication of book like the
Donkeys (1961) by Alan Clark or release of

What Are The Impact Of Detecting Range On The Throughput...
Several studies of routing protocol based on the physical and MAC layers have been done in the
literature. Jing Deng, et al. [1] and Kim et al. [2] argued that the carrier sensing range is a tunable
parameter that can significantly affect the MAC performance in multihop ad hoc networks. Mustapha,
et al. [3] investigated the impact of sensing range on the throughput of MANET by taking into
consideration two essential issues in MAC they are concurrent transmission, which is referred to
spatial reuse, and collision in terms of transmission range persistent probability and back off time.

In their approach, a node identified as blackhole node is blacklisted and an ALARM packet is sent so
that the RREP packet originated from that malicious node is discarded and the routing table for that
node is not updated. However, this algorithm suffers from excessive overhead due to the update of the
threshold value at every time interval and the handling of special ALARM control packets. In [11],
Tamilselvan et al. proposed a solution for preventing blackhole attacks in MANETs based on AODV
protocol. In their solution, the source node waits till other replies with the next hop details. When the
source node receives the RREP packets, it records the sequence number along with the time the packet
arrived in a collect route reply table (CRRT). After recording the route replies in the CRRT, it
calculates the timeout value for each RREP based on the time first RREP arrived, then it checks the
CRRT for any repeated next hop nodes. The path with the repeated next hop node is considered to be
safe. If there is no repeated next hope node in the CRRT, the algorithm chooses a random path from
the CRRT. The main drawback of this solution is that if there are no repeated next hop nodes in the
CRRT, therefore the algorithm increases the risk of blackhole attack by choosing a random path. In
[12], Weerasinghe and Fu proposed a solution for prevention cooperative blackhole attacks in
MANETs. In their solution, each node maintains a table called Data Routing Information (DRI),
which

Physical development provides children with the abilities they need to explore and interact with the

The physical development of young children must be encouraged through the provision of

reason why children are observed could be because a child has not been very sociable and doesn t

activities that encourage the children to make friends and work as a team, for example, setting out
chairs in a certain way, then telling each child where to sit so that they don t favour their friends, they

Teacher Reflection
essons from the Classroom Page 1
Introduction
The most rewarding aspect of teaching is the impact the teachers have on their students.
Whether it be because the classroom atmosphere was so much fun or the teacher really got the student
interested in a specific subject, the impact a teacher has on someone can last a lifetime. While
I am far from being someone s favorite teacher, I hope I can make an impact on the lives of as many
students as possible through inspiring confidence and creating a respectful and fun classroom
environment. In just three weeks at International Teacher Training Organization (ITTO) in
Guadalajara,
Mexico I have been able to improve many of my teaching skills through classroom experience and
instructor input sessions which has resulted in me becoming a better teacher for all students.
What is a Good Teacher?
While teaching naturally entails relaying information to students, a good teacher encompasses so
much more. It is important for teachers to be able to think on their feet, readjust their lesson if
unforeseen obstacles arise, and also inspire the students to learn. Every lesson will bring a new
unanticipated issue into the classroom that is simply a fact of teaching. A good teacher can
acknowledge the issue and adjust accordingly. If the technology stops working or only half the class
shows up, then the teacher should be able to take it all in stride and alter the lesson so it works for the
circumstances. In addition teachers are the cheerleaders of their subjects, they are there to inspire
students to learn from their lessons. While not every students will have a burning desire to know more
about the topic of the class, the teacher needs to be able to keep the classroom atmosphere positive and
engaging for all students. It is also extremely important that the teacher fosters a sense of community
among the students so they feel at ease in the classroom and connected to their teacher and their peers.
Creating a welcoming atmosphere is key in a student s learning.
According to the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship at Georgetown
University, good teachers, are prepared, set clear and fair expectations, have a positive attitude, are

period in his life. Given how different the two pieces are, one can assume they are unrelated; but they
really show how much he grew as an artist and how much he challenged himself to move from less
saturated still lifes, portraits, etc. to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Much, if not all, of his work before 1886 was very similar; he used vibrant color infrequently if it all
and painted dark landscapes, still lifes, and portraits (like The Potato Peeler). It was not until he left
for France in 1886 that he decided to focus more on himself, thus transforming his style into what we
recognize more easily today. There seems to be a misconception that he had always painted with
vibrant colors and little thick strokes; but he only painted using vibrant and highly saturated colors for
a brief time in his life as stated before. Van Gogh was influenced by Jean François Millet to paint rural
scenes. In the winter of 1884 to 1885, van Gogh painted more that 40 portrait studies of peasants,
including The Potato Peeler (Department of European Paintings). These studies would then lead to his
piece The Potato Eaters as seen in Fig. 3. Van Gogh was inspired to portray rural life this way because
he intended to relay to the viewers a feeling of the coarseness of rural life (Stotland, 387). Van Gogh
was more focused on life around him and depicting it in a more humanistic way. Although the use of
light and shadow may be exaggerated to some extent, the color stays accurate to what humans do look
like. A few more minor pieces were painted after in the same style as The Potato Peeler; but after his
move to France, his style changes to the more vibrant and impressionist style we know today. Van
Gogh had realized that the style of

The Role Of The Titans In Greek Mythology
The Titans had very important roles and contributions to Greek Mythology as it is known today. Many
have heard of Greek Mythology, but with very little Information and understanding of these certain
Greek Gods, who had a major factor in the rise of mysticism. Because of their certain powers and
upbringing, Titans had major roles in the society. Without having a major part in the formation , Greek
Mythology may have not been the same. The Titans originally consisted of twelve gods and goddesses:
Six male and six females, who were inherited by Gaea (Mother Earth) and Uranus (Father Jupiter).
The Titans were Kronos, Iapetus, Hyperion, Oceanus, Coeus, Creus, Theia, Rhea, Mnemosyne,
Phoebe, Tethys, and Themis. Kronus, the youngest among the Titans, overthrew his Father Uranus ,
which led him to become king and having his son Zeus betray him. ... Show more content on

Many of the first generation Titans began to elope after Kronus had defeated the first generations
father . Kronus and Rhea had six: Hestia, Zeus, Demeter, Hades, Hera and Poseidon. Just like Kronus
had done many years before, Zeus had also turned on his father. Hyperion and Theia bore three:
Helios, Selene and Eos. Coeus and Phoebe had two: Asteria and Leto. Oceanus and Tethys had
Oceanids and Potamoi. However not all the siblings eloped. In fact, some of the original Titans eloped
with the second generation Titans or married others unrelated of their kind. Iapetus and Clymene
hadPromethius, Epimetheus, Atlas, Menoetius. Mnemosyne and Zeus had the Muses (Calliope, Clio,
Erato, Euterpe, Melpomene, Polyhymnia, Terpsichore, Thalia, and Urania.) Crius and Eurybia had

The Effects Of Video Game Play On The Educational Process
Video game play can be very beneficial in the educational process. It can enhance cognitive abilities
and skills in children and adolescents. In fact, studies have found that improvements in cognition have
been related to grey matter changes in the prefrontal cortex. Specifically, a study conducted by Simon
Kuhn, in which magnetic resonance imaging scans of 152 14 year old adolescents were collected and
used to estimate cortical thickness, showed an increase in cortical thickness in the left dorsolateral
prefrontal cortex and in correlation an increase in cognitive and strategic planning abilities (Simon
Kuhn 5). These results come from the need to follow directions in games. In order to progress in
games, one must first learn to follow the guidelines, restrictions and components of them. As the
player confronts new challenges, he must use problem solving skills to find solutions. The player must
find new combinations and incorporate old skills with new skills to overcome obstacles. In relation,
players must also get used to multitasking. As games become more intricate, players must juggle
different objectives while keeping track of all the changing elements and connecting ideas. Games
induce quick thinking as well. According to cognitive scientist Daphne Bavelier of the University of
Rochester, results of a study found that people who play video games become more attuned to their
environment, are able to keep visual tabs on friends in crowds, can navigate better, and are

Economic Policies Of El Salvador And Other Nations Essay
Dollarization: A Comparison of Economic Policies in El Salvador and Other Nations Dollarization is
the process in which nations replace their domestic currencies [with foreign legal tender] ...to obtain
economic growth and stability (Rivera Solis 330). The US dollar is the most common choice of
exchange in this practice, though the adoption of other first world states currencies may be entertained
as well. Though its effects are not instant, US dollarization has brought many gradual benefits to the
economic statuses of several countries. There are two types of dollarization: official and unofficial. In
the process of official dollarization, a state gives complete monetary control to a foreign nation,
ceding its right to both create a central bank and issue a domestic form of currency. Where as a nation
loses its sovereignty to make decisions concerning its money supply in official dollarization, unofficial
dollarization allows states to keep most of its control in place. Nations who implement dollarization
unofficially keep their ability to own a central bank to fall back on, in cases of economic emergency,
and regulate their own currency. Some studies encourage the promotion of official dollarization, while
other scorn it s outcome and option for its slighter counterpart, partial dollarization, instead. This
paper explores the differences in both policies and the effects of dollarization on four separate nations:
El Salvador, Panama, Zimbabwe, and the British Virgin

I Am Not A Therapist
I am not a therapist by a long shot, I have no degree in the field of brain science nor do I wish to have,
I am only a regular individual that watches and breaks down the things I see. As I am composing this I
saw a youthful child at 15 years old conversing with his Father. To a few individuals this may infer
that I don t have any believability in composing these things in light of the fact that I don t have the
shrewdness of expounding on perception. English is my second dialect and once in a while it is hard
for me to put it on sentence structure; nonetheless, during my time of realizing this dialect I take in not

comprehended is pay part. It has neither rhyme nor reason. I can t help thinking that the more work
you do, the less you get paid and the less work you do the more you get paid for it. For instance, my
sibling began functioning as a trash transfer man. By this I imply that he was the gentleman hanging
off the back of the dump truck. He would work long days and the physical interest was simply
depleting. Would you be able to envision doing this work in the gnawing frosty of winter or the damp
warmth of the mid year throughout the day? The pay was bad; nonetheless, he figures out how to get
his CDL to drive trucks for the same organization, he climbs. His perseverance makes him proceed

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Essay
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
The carpal tunnel is a passageway that runs from the forearm through the wrist. Bones form three
walls of the tunnel and a strong, broad ligament bridges over them. The median nerve, which supplies
feeling to the thumb, index (4th digit), and ring fingers (3rd digit), and the nine tendons that flex the
fingers, passes through this tunnel. This nerve, also, provides function for the muscles at the base of
the thumb (the Thenar muscles). Usually, carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is considered an
inflammatory disorder caused by repetitive stress, physical injury, or medical conditions that cause the
tissues around the median nerve to become swollen. The protective lining of the tendons within the
carpal tunnel can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such conditions are known contributors to CTS. It is most likely that many cases of CTS occur from a
combination of factors, including a predisposing medical condition exacerbated by work stress and
psychological and social stressers. In many patients with CTS, an underlying cause for the disorder
cannot be discovered. Disorders related to work that requires repetitive motion are increasing. They
account for nearly half of all reported work related illness, and CTS is estimated to account for over
41% of these repetitive motion disorders. Researchers have defined six key risk factors in the
workplace for the development of these disorders, including CTS: (1) repetition, (2) high force, (3)
awkward joint posture, (4) direct pressure, (5) vibration, and (6) prolonged constrained posture.
Through many of the studies I have read, many believe that incorrect posture may play a large role in
the development of CTS, particularly in people who work at computer and other types of keyboards.
The tendency to roll the shoulders forward, round the lower back, and thrust the chin forward can
shorten the neck and shoulder muscles compressing nerves in the neck. This can affect the wrist,
fingers, and hand. It has been difficult to obtain reliable data on the relation between repetitive hand
and wrist tasks and CTS. Studies indicate that

Symbolism In Good County People By Flannery OConner
Flannery O Conner, the author of Good County People, looks at the perceptional ways that others
identify themselves in this story. The title of this story draws from Mrs. Hopewell. This character sees
people in general, including her hardworking employees, as either good county people or trash. Mrs.
Hopewell views herself at a much higher social hierarchy status than the others. There are several
symbolisms in this tale as Flannery has the reader engaged and perplexed. The smooth talking
character Manley Pointer, a supreme con artist and fake Bible Salesman, uses his clever witty words to
put Mrs. Hopewell at ease and earn her trust. Mrs. Hopewell is naïve, yet a true optimist of her
impression and interpretation of good county people. She would be enchanted and deceived by his
words, letting her guard down allowing herself and daughter to placing them in an uncompromising
situation, only to be good county people, deceived by the trashy Manley Pointer. The Mother Mrs.
Hopewell, and daughter Joy, have very similar views of themselves and others. They have extremely
narrow views in a way that blinds their overall perception when meeting other people. Joy has a sever
image complex and it is truly exasperated due to her overall health concerns. Joy and her Mother
appear to have a dreadful relationship. The name Joy means rejoicing. Sadly, Joy would legally
change her name to the harsh, ugly name of Hulga. Hulga felt her name change would be interpreted,
as the Ugly sweating Vulcan that stayed in the furnace and to whom, presumable the goddess had to
come when called. She saw it as the name of her highest creation act (271). It appears Hulga was
comparing herself to Hephaestus, The Roman god, who is the God of Fire, was ugly and extremely
undesirable physically. With her new name recreation, she would think of herself as beautiful. Similar
to Aphrodite the goddess of beauty, as Aphrodite was also the wife to the ugly Roman god
Hephaestus. One of Hulga s major triumphs was that her Mother was not able to turn her dust into Joy,
but the greater one was that Joy had been able to turn herself into Hulga (271). Hulga wants a new
identity and thinks changing her name will allow her to escape her past..

The New Negro Of The Harlem Renaissance The New Negro Movement, also known as The Harlem Renaissance, was a time in the early twentieth century where African Americans embraced literature, music, theatre, and visual arts (Alchin). They were inspired and gave inspiration to many blacks in the community. The Great Migration was the beginning of the Harlem Renaissance it is, where it began the most significant movement in the black history. After World War I, more than six million African Americans traveled from the rural South to the cities of the North, Midwest, and West to achieve economic and social benefit, and a new home in Harlem, New York City (History.com Staff). It has been a synonym for being a center of culture, intelligence, and fashion (Harlem). That exact time period gave black people opportunity to grow, to prosper, and to express. Through art, they have shown the value of life, even though there was brutal racism, injustice in black identity, and slavery. This is a movement in the black culture to show that they are just more than the color of their skin. The Harlem Renaissance started after World War I. Northern factories had a huge demand for workers; southern blacks took this opportunity to leave the oppressive economic conditions in the South (Great Migration). Most of them resided in Harlem, New York City. Artists in this movement had either painted pictures of everyday tasks, wrote poetry about freedom, and/or played jazz. • 5. The Meaning Of The Word Proof Essay Foreman address the meaning of the word proof in the context of questions concerning God s existence or non existence. He specifies that in this context, proof does not mean as it does in its more natural context, mathematics, a demonstration that within the agreed on axioms follows necessarily, but rather something else, and nevertheless of value. A proof of God, says Foreman, are defeasible, yet have not (yet) been defeated. They are valuable because they offer the best explanation for what we observe in nature. McCloskey does not share Foreman s sense of proof. His line of thought runs as follows: since the proofs of God s existence cannot be definitively established they are defeasible, unlike mathematical proofs they should be abandoned. This seems like a totalitarian gesture, since we know that multiple, often paradoxical senses, can run through the same signifier, in this case, proof, yet to McCloskey, because the sense of proof that he demands is not pertinent in this context, the word is mistaken, and therefore the arguments and whatever values they may share ought to be abandoned. This is not a strong position, but rather reflective of a miserly relationship to words multiple senses. McCloskey nevertheless attends to specific claims presented in each of the more popular proofs for God s existence. Regarding the Cosmological Proof, he says, the existence of the world does not entitle one to hold that, since the world consists of an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although there is not much that can be done about where the new housing tract is located, there are a few things you can do to try and get the cost of a home down. Your best options will relate directly to builder incentives. The following are a few ways you can do this. New home purchase rebates Just like the automotive industry, when new homes sales are slow, builders may offer rebates. Sometimes it s due to the general economy, but new home sales can be slow in a particular state or even a particular new tract of homes. These rebates can take different forms, but most of them are related to a reduced commission from the real estate agent. They agree to reduce their commission, and share it with the home buyer. These social hierarchies are found in many species, but are the most complex in humans. Social hierarchies are especially present in John Steinbeck s book, Of Mice and Men, which is about two farmers trying to find work in the great depression. Throughout the book, Steinbeck challenges these traditional social hierarchies. While some people can be higher up in the social hierarchy because of how they were born, this does not mean that they are better people, and challenges conventional social hierarchies by showing that they can shift. Very quickly into the book, there is a very clear binary between the first two characters, Lennie and George. Steinbeck describes George as small and quick, dark of face, with restless eyes and sharp, strong features (2). The other character, Lennie, Steinbeck describes as the complete opposite: a huge man, shapeless of face, with large, pale eyes, with wide, sloping shoulders; and he walked heavily, dragging his feet a little, the way a bear drags his paws (2). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Further experiments would then need to be performed to gain a complete understanding of the benefits and consequences of combusting certain fuels. Background Information The combustion of the hydrocarbons and organic molecules found in fuels is a chemical reaction that primarily involves the oxidation of carbon and hydrogen in various compounds to release heat and produce water and carbon dioxide. When the environment lacks sufficient oxygen, rendering oxygen as the limiting reagent in the reaction, incomplete combustion would occur. This involves the production of other chemicals such as carbon monoxide and solid carbon in addition to water and carbon dioxide. The general chemical equations for the incomplete and complete combustion of hydrocarbons are as follows: Complete: CxHy + O2(g) → H2O(l) + CO2(g) Incomplete: CxHy + O2(g) → H2O(l) + CO2(g) + CO(g) + C(s) Of course, the composition of each fuel varies, yet the main organic molecule they contain can be used to formulate the basic chemical reaction that is undergone when each substance is combusted. In the case with fondue fuel, methanol is the main substance that is responsible for combustion and can be represented with the following equation (NIST 2015): 2 CH3OH(l) + 3 O2(g) → 2 CO2(g) + 4 H2O(l),where is 725.7 kJ/mol Fondue fuel is ... Out of the three pieces that the Artiste Orchestra prepared to the Masquerade Concert, Halloween Spooktacular, arranged by Bob Phillips, was definitely the hardest piece. Not only was it long, but it was fast and had passages with difficult fingerings. By no means have I perfected this piece, but I used several different practice techniques to help me master the fast tempo and difficult fingerings. The technique that I used the most was probably using a metronome. I would start by playing a passage very slowly, probably around 80 100 beats per minute depending on the passage. Then, once I had mastered the passage at that speed, I would increase the tempo by 10 beats per minute and practice the passage at that speed until I had mastered it. Then, I would increase the tempo another 10 beats per minute and repeat the same process. I would continue this same process until I had mastered that section at tempo. It was at these slower speeds that I could really focus on the little things, such as intonation, rhythm, dynamics and articulation because by focusing on these elements as slow speeds, it would be easier to bring them into the piece at faster speeds. Another practice technique I attempted to use to practice Halloween Spooktacular was playing along with a recorded version of the piece. • 24. Development of the European Union What would become the European Union developed out of a need to negate the war making potential of European powers, namely Germany as well as to foster economic recovery in countries whose economies were all but destroyed. It was thought that tying the main armaments making resources, coal and steel, together in a supernational organisation responsible for its management would serve both roles. It has been developing since 1951 and keeps evolving. What one sees as a transformation from something similar to a customs union not too unlike Benelux, to a political union and finally a monetary union, albeit an incomplete one. The fundamental bodies that comprise what is now the European Union are still for the most part based on the spirit of the Treaties of Rome. The development of the EU as whole will be explored as well as the bodies that comprise it. How those bodies have improved as well as any weaknesses that still characterise them will be explained. As mentioned above what would become the EU began as the European Coal and Steel Community in 1952. With the signing of the Treaty of Paris, the framework was laid for a common administration amongst European states. With coal and steel being two of the most crucial commodities in the wars that tore the continent apart in the 20th Century, it seemed a logical place to start. A supernational authority, known as the High Authority made decisions by which member states would be bound, decisions which put interests ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Essay about Finding True Freedom in Kate Chopin s The... Finding True Freedom in The Awakening Kate Chopin s novel, The Awakening details the endeavors of heroine Edna Pontellier to cope with the realization that she is not, nor can she ever be, the woman she wants to be. Edna has settled for less. She is married for all the wrong reasons, saddled with the burden of motherhood, and trapped by social roles that would never release her. The passage below is only one of the many tender and exquisitely sensory passages that reveal Edna s soul to the reader. The voice of the sea is seductive; never ceasing, whispering, dancing, murmuring, inviting the soul to wander for a spell in abysses of solitude; to lose itself in mazes of inward contemplation. There is nothing wrong with lacking the maternal instincts that Edna does. What is wrong is living in a society that makes you feel guilty for not bearing litter after litter, and then fussing about them until your dying day. Thus, Edna endures her thoughts in secret shame: Their absence was a relief, though she did not admit this, even to herself. It seemed to free her of a responsibility which she had blindly assumed and for which Fate had not fitted her (37). Mrs. Pontellier was not meant to be some matronly icon. This situation is a prime example of the life she did not voluntarily choose, but was forced to live. Edna was, in truth, no less of a woman for her instincts (or lack thereof). She only had the misfortune of living at a time when such choices were unacceptable, when women were still judged by the softness of their bread and the size of their brood. In addition, Edna had more or less stumbled into her marriage, which was purely an accident (36). She did it to spite her parents, because Leonce worshipped her (37), and because she realized that no trace of passion or excessive and fictitious warmth colored her affection, thereby threatening its dissolution (37). While this is practical and realistic, it sounds remarkably unlike a marriage out of love; a marriage that would fulfill her desires. Edna may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Capitalismism And Environment In order to answer questions about: if green consumption being able to solve environmental problems, if purchasing eco friendly products as well as green technology is the answer to global environmental degradation, and if capitalism is able to save the environment or not, background information certainly needs to be presented before my personal opinion is contributed. To introduce capitalism, society, and the environment, I would like to begin with the statement that humans affect nature, or the natural environment. Pollution and depletion are two ways this happens. On one side with pollution, the environment becomes contaminated by toxic items. On the other side with depletion, the environment s natural resources are being exhausted. Even though both are negative and both are bad for the environment, not one of them is necessarily better to have. To discuss capitalism, seeking profit and private property is what capitalism strives for. This is essentially their main desire. In slightly simpler words, it seeks to collect capital, or money. Capitalism affects the environment in a negative way, but it also causes stratification. The way it does this is by exploiting workers. Thinkers who are Ecological Marxists are contemporary thinkers who added onto Karl Marx s theory original proposed thought processes about capitalism. Ecological Marxist Theory brings to light the issues between capitalism s means of production and the environment. It explains how capitalism is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Alice s Adventures in Wonderland is known as one of best children s story book. Alice s Adventures in Wonderland is one of the most famous and enduring children s classics. The novel is full of whimsical charm, and a feeling for the absurd that is unsurpassed. The book begins with a young girl Alice, bored under a tree in the meadow by a river, reading a book with her sister. Everything seems perfectly normal and peaceful; there could be nothing more in keeping with the middle class Victorian world in which Carroll lived. The tale plays with logic giving the story lasting image with adults as well as with children. Its narrative course and structure, characters and imagery have been hugely influenced in both popular culture and literature, especially in the fantasy part. It is considered to be one of the best examples of the literary nonsense genre. Our author Lewis Carroll is actually a name he chose as his author name as his pen name. He is Charles Lutwidge Dodgson born and raised in England Carroll had a very happy childhood. His mother was patient and friendly, and his father despite his religious work tutored all of his children and raised them to be well rounded people. While capitalism comes in a variety of disguises, one thing about capitalism has always remained the same the nature of its selfish being. Capitalism thrives on hard work. Individuals that work hard will undoubtedly be rewarded. On the contrary, those that are not able to work are left in a dreadful predicament. Even with two distinct versions of capitalism plain capitalism and democratic capitalism both involve the necessary component of free enterprise. Capitalism considers free enterprise something to be achieved individually with rewards intended for just oneself. Adam Smith came along and challenged that notation ... The animal park was innovative and practically screamed free enterprise. There were rules, regulations, and an ethical code of conduct all necessary components for democratic capitalism. However, higher ups were not elected they were appointment by the owner. Likewise in the hospital setting, supervisors were also appointed from upper management. Something unique about working in the hospital, however, was that there were elected members of a resident government needed for democratic capitalism. Following Adam Smith s theory, the hospital I worked for had many incentives in place. At the hospital, I could accumulate paid time off and earn additional bonuses for picking up unscheduled shifts. As Smith would have predicted, I undoubtedly worked harder at the hospital because the only incentive to work at the animal park was for my check and nothing additional. Dress During The Victorian Era My MTP combines historical and contemporary elements to create an ensemble which has strong ties to the past and the clothes worn during the Victorian era but is also modern and wearable in formal settings. The Victorian era (1837 1901) was a time in which modesty was an important influence on their style of clothing and because of this, women turned to other ways to show off their figure and femininity such as corsetry. Corsets, often stiffened with either whale bone or steel, were used to emphasis the tiny waistline that was coveted at this time while the full skirt was often built up with hoops and up to ten layers of starched petticoats and was a symbol of wealth and status among the higher classes. The method of adding decorative pintucking is one that was very popular in the Victorian era but has been modernised to suit my ensemble while still maintaining an air of the historical influence. • 34. Abortion Restrictions In The Planned Parenthood V. Casey Case decrease as well. While some of these restrictions are important and play a vital role in protecting the client, there appears to be a lack of policies and laws required for women who are post abortive. Some of these abortion policies, laws, and restrictions that are currently in place will be explored briefly, starting from the beginning. In 1973, elective abortion was decriminalized in the United States in the milestone Supreme Court case Roe vs. Wade (Ely Dulmus, 2010). Then, in 1992, the decision in the Planned Parenthood v. Casey case established that abortion restrictions cannot create an undue burden on a woman seeking an abortion (Guttmacher Institute, 2017). This decision was then confirmed in Whole Woman s Health v. Hellerstedt in 2016 which determined that scientific evidence must be considered when assessing the constitutionality of abortion restrictions (Guttmacher Institute, 2017). Despite the results of these Court cases; laws, policies, and restrictions continue to be enacted which create complications (or unnecessary burdens) for women who are seeking abortion. Most recently, within the last ten years, there has been a sharp increase in the number of abortion related laws that have been endorsed. Between 2008 and 2010, a total of 18 states enacted 44 abortion related laws with 62 new abortion restrictions being passed in 2011 (Jones Jerman, 2014). Introduction During the First World War (1914 1918) The United Kingdom was one of the Allied Powers, fighting against the Central Powers (the German Empire, the Austro Hungarian Empire, the Ottoman Empire and the Kingdom of Bulgaria). In 1914, British Army did not have the power to fight a major war on the continent, and throughout the course of military actions had to multiply in size fourteen times (Chandler/ Beckett 211). Nature of the conflict that forced reorganization of the British Army, including raising one of the largest all volunteer militaries in history, creation of the Royal Air Force, and use of conscription, as well as facing modern and far more brutal weapons resulted in tremendous changes in the British warfare. British commanders, experienced in fighting small colonial wars, had to quickly adapt to a very different set of circumstances. The end of War marked a decline in the respect of authority. Economical effects of massive casualties, during carnages like the Battle of the Somme (1916), became felt and evidences of Generals incompetence were brought to light (for example in 1927 publication of Lions Led by Donkeys: Showing how victory in the Great War was achieved by those who made the fewest mistakes by British Captain P.A. Thompson). The criticism intensified after the end of the Second World War, when massive sacrifices of the previous war were put in perspective. [3] investigated the impact of sensing range on the throughput of MANET by taking into consideration two essential issues in MAC they are concurrent transmission, which is referred to spatial reuse, and collision in terms of transmission range persistent probability and back off time. In their approach, a node identified as blackhole node is blacklisted and an ALARM packet is sent so that the RREP packet originated from that malicious node is discarded and the routing table for that node is not updated. However, this algorithm suffers from excessive overhead due to the update of the threshold value at every time interval and the handling of special ALARM control packets. In [11], Tamilselvan et al. proposed a solution for preventing blackhole attacks in MANETs based on AODV protocol. In their solution, the source node waits till other replies with the next hop details. When the source node receives the RREP packets, it records the sequence number along with the time the packet arrived in a collect route reply table (CRRT). After recording the route replies in the CRRT, it calculates the timeout value for each RREP based on the time first RREP arrived, then it checks the CRRT for any repeated next hop nodes. The path with the repeated next hop node is considered to be safe. If there is no repeated next hope node in the CRRT, the algorithm chooses a random path from the CRRT. The main drawback of this solution is that if there are no repeated next hop nodes in the CRRT, therefore the algorithm increases the risk of blackhole attack by choosing a random path. In [12], Weerasinghe and Fu proposed a solution for prevention cooperative blackhole attacks in MANETs. In their solution, each node maintains a table called Data Routing Information (DRI), which ... • 39. Teacher Reflection essons from the Classroom Page 1 Introduction The most rewarding aspect of teaching is the impact the teachers have on their students. Whether it be because the classroom atmosphere was so much fun or the teacher really got the student interested in a specific subject, the impact a teacher has on someone can last a lifetime. While I am far from being someone s favorite teacher, I hope I can make an impact on the lives of as many students as possible through inspiring confidence and creating a respectful and fun classroom environment. In just three weeks at International Teacher Training Organization (ITTO) in Guadalajara, Mexico I have been able to improve many of my teaching skills through classroom experience and instructor input sessions which has resulted in me becoming a better teacher for all students. What is a Good Teacher? While teaching naturally entails relaying information to students, a good teacher encompasses so much more. It is important for teachers to be able to think on their feet, readjust their lesson if unforeseen obstacles arise, and also inspire the students to learn. Every lesson will bring a new unanticipated issue into the classroom that is simply a fact of teaching. A good teacher can acknowledge the issue and adjust accordingly. If the technology stops working or only half the class shows up, then the teacher should be able to take it all in stride and alter the lesson so it works for the circumstances. In addition teachers are the cheerleaders of their subjects, they are there to inspire students to learn from their lessons. While not every students will have a burning desire to know more about the topic of the class, the teacher needs to be able to keep the classroom atmosphere positive and engaging for all students. It is also extremely important that the teacher fosters a sense of community among the students so they feel at ease in the classroom and connected to their teacher and their peers. Creating a welcoming atmosphere is key in a student s learning. Many have a misconception that his darker and less saturated paintings come from a short time in his life when he experimented with dark colors; the reality is that his more saturated paintings were not developed until the last four years of his life and his less saturated pieces come from a longer period in his life. It was not until he left for France in 1886 that he decided to focus more on himself, thus transforming his style into what we recognize more easily today. There seems to be a misconception that he had always painted with vibrant colors and little thick strokes; but he only painted using vibrant and highly saturated colors for a brief time in his life as stated before. Van Gogh was influenced by Jean François Millet to paint rural scenes. In the winter of 1884 to 1885, van Gogh painted more that 40 portrait studies of peasants, including The Potato Peeler (Department of European Paintings). These studies would then lead to his piece The Potato Eaters as seen in Fig. 3. Van Gogh was inspired to portray rural life this way because he intended to relay to the viewers a feeling of the coarseness of rural life (Stotland, 387). Van Gogh was more focused on life around him and depicting it in a more humanistic way. Although the use of light and shadow may be exaggerated to some extent, the color stays accurate to what humans do look like. Specifically, a study conducted by Simon Kuhn, in which magnetic resonance imaging scans of 152 14 year old adolescents were collected and used to estimate cortical thickness, showed an increase in cortical thickness in the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and in correlation an increase in cognitive and strategic planning abilities (Simon Kuhn 5). Economic Policies Of El Salvador And Other Nations Essay Dollarization: A Comparison of Economic Policies in El Salvador and Other Nations Dollarization is the process in which nations replace their domestic currencies [with foreign legal tender] ...to obtain economic growth and stability (Rivera Solis 330). The US dollar is the most common choice of exchange in this practice, though the adoption of other first world states currencies may be entertained as well. Though its effects are not instant, US dollarization has brought many gradual benefits to the economic statuses of several countries. There are two types of dollarization: official and unofficial. In the process of official dollarization, a state gives complete monetary control to a foreign nation, ceding its right to both create a central bank and issue a domestic form of currency. Where as a nation loses its sovereignty to make decisions concerning its money supply in official dollarization, unofficial dollarization allows states to keep most of its control in place. Nations who implement dollarization unofficially keep their ability to own a central bank to fall back on, in cases of economic emergency, and regulate their own currency. Some studies encourage the promotion of official dollarization, while other scorn it s outcome and option for its slighter counterpart, partial dollarization, instead. I Am Not A Therapist I am not a therapist by a long shot, I have no degree in the field of brain science nor do I wish to have, I am only a regular individual that watches and breaks down the things I see. As I am composing this I saw a youthful child at 15 years old conversing with his Father. To a few individuals this may infer that I don t have any believability in composing these things in light of the fact that I don t have the shrewdness of expounding on perception. English is my second dialect and once in a while it is hard for me to put it on sentence structure; nonetheless, during my time of realizing this dialect I take in not more than a few moments all the more consistently; subsequently, to those individuals I say that they ought to listen to me ... On the off chance that you have seen or watched children you realize that this, by and large, is valid. One thing about existence that I never comprehended is pay part. It has neither rhyme nor reason. I can t help thinking that the more work you do, the less you get paid and the less work you do the more you get paid for it. For instance, my sibling began functioning as a trash transfer man. By this I imply that he was the gentleman hanging off the back of the dump truck. He would work long days and the physical interest was simply depleting. Would you be able to envision doing this work in the gnawing frosty of winter or the damp warmth of the mid year throughout the day? The pay was bad; nonetheless, he figures out how to get his CDL to drive trucks for the same organization, he climbs. His perseverance makes him proceed onward and now he workss for FEDEX as a truck driver. what s more, makes generously more than he used to. • 46. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Essay Carpal Tunnel Syndrome The carpal tunnel is a passageway that runs from the forearm through the wrist. Bones form three walls of the tunnel and a strong, broad ligament bridges over them. The median nerve, which supplies feeling to the thumb, index (4th digit), and ring fingers (3rd digit), and the nine tendons that flex the fingers, passes through this tunnel. This nerve, also, provides function for the muscles at the base of the thumb (the Thenar muscles). Usually, carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is considered an inflammatory disorder caused by repetitive stress, physical injury, or medical conditions that cause the tissues around the median nerve to become swollen. The protective lining of the tendons within the carpal tunnel can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such conditions are known contributors to CTS. It is most likely that many cases of CTS occur from a combination of factors, including a predisposing medical condition exacerbated by work stress and psychological and social stressers. In many patients with CTS, an underlying cause for the disorder cannot be discovered. Disorders related to work that requires repetitive motion are increasing. They account for nearly half of all reported work related illness, and CTS is estimated to account for over 41% of these repetitive motion disorders. Researchers have defined six key risk factors in the workplace for the development of these disorders, including CTS: (1) repetition, (2) high force, (3) awkward joint posture, (4) direct pressure, (5) vibration, and (6) prolonged constrained posture. Through many of the studies I have read, many believe that incorrect posture may play a large role in the development of CTS, particularly in people who work at computer and other types of keyboards. The tendency to roll the shoulders forward, round the lower back, and thrust the chin forward can shorten the neck and shoulder muscles compressing nerves in the neck. This can affect the wrist, fingers, and hand. It has been difficult to obtain reliable data on the relation between repetitive hand and wrist tasks and CTS. Studies indicate that ... • 47. Symbolism In Good County People By Flannery OConner Flannery O Conner, the author of Good County People, looks at the perceptional ways that others identify themselves in this story. The title of this story draws from Mrs. Hopewell. This character sees people in general, including her hardworking employees, as either good county people or trash. Mrs. Hopewell views herself at a much higher social hierarchy status than the others. There are several symbolisms in this tale as Flannery has the reader engaged and perplexed. The smooth talking character Manley Pointer, a supreme con artist and fake Bible Salesman, uses his clever witty words to put Mrs. Hopewell at ease and earn her trust. Mrs. Hopewell is naïve, yet a true optimist of her impression and interpretation of good county people. She would be enchanted and deceived by his words, letting her guard down allowing herself and daughter to placing them in an uncompromising situation, only to be good county people, deceived by the trashy Manley Pointer. The Mother Mrs. Hopewell, and daughter Joy, have very similar views of themselves and others. They have extremely narrow views in a way that blinds their overall perception when meeting other people. Joy has a sever image complex and it is truly exasperated due to her overall health concerns. Joy and her Mother appear to have a dreadful relationship. The name Joy means rejoicing. Sadly, Joy would legally change her name to the harsh, ugly name of Hulga. Hulga felt her name change would be interpreted, as the Ugly sweating Vulcan that stayed in the furnace and to whom, presumable the goddess had to come when called. She saw it as the name of her highest creation act (271). It appears Hulga was comparing herself to Hephaestus, The Roman god, who is the God of Fire, was ugly and extremely undesirable physically. With her new name recreation, she would think of herself as beautiful. Similar to Aphrodite the goddess of beauty, as Aphrodite was also the wife to the ugly Roman god Hephaestus. One of Hulga s major triumphs was that her Mother was not able to turn her dust into Joy, but the greater one was that Joy had been able to turn herself into Hulga (271). Hulga wants a new identity and thinks changing her name will allow her to escape her past.. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
