2. Working Title
• ‘inD’
• I chose this short and simple brand name to provide recognisable
brand identity with direct links to the Indie genre which is the main
focus of the magazine.
3. Genre
• The genre of music shown in the magazine will largely be the
Indie/Alternative genre with some reference to the Pop genre as it
finished a close second to Indie in my audience research survey.
4. Cover Price
• The cover price for my magazine will be £2.50 because that was the
midpoint of the £2-3 range that got the majority of votes in the
audience research survey, I chose £2.50 as my cover price because it
is less than the maximum the majority of people said that they would
pay therefore giving a better value for money.
5. Issue Frequency
• The frequency of the issues will be monthly as then the demand for
money is less per month which allows you to charge more per issue.
The magazine being monthly also gives it a bigger sense of exclusivity.
• Over a year, with an issue each month, the total cost would come to
£30 however with a discounted annual subscription it would cost £5
less at £25.
6. Reader Profile
• The average reader is a young man or woman (as there was no
outright majority towards one gender) aged between 16 and 24 years
old with most of the readers being placed at the lower end of the age
range. A large amount of readers come from the York/Leeds area of
North East England.
7. Colour Scheme
• The colour scheme for my magazine will be largely whites, greys and
blacks as I feel these colours represent the simple and stylish
design/look that I will be going for with both the page layout and the
images that I include.
