Disc 2)
The Album:
For the Album we decided to create a an album displaying
the ‘Best of:’ of the band. On the first of the two discs
will be a selection of the Faux Pas’ most popular and
successful songs, with the idea being this is an overview
of the most loved tracks from any previous singles or
albums for example. The use of a Best of album can also
positively promote the band to those who have not
previously come into contact with the music as this
reflects what those who know consider as the content
that attracts the interest, or in other words the best of
their work. With Faux Pas being in the most part a small
and largely unknown band, the best of album is a perfect
chance to display everything they have to offer across one
album.
The DVD:
The second of two discs within the Digipak is a DVD that
we have chosen to contain exclusive behind the scenes
footage accompanied by a number of special features
from a selection of music videos including ‘Not So Sad’
and ‘In Hindsight’, two of the bands biggest tracks.

4. The Song:
For our chosen song we have decided to use ‘Not So Sad’ – Faux Pas, we have chosen this song
for a number of reasons, the main one being that the song has a good and largely fast paced
rhythm as well as an upbeat tune both of which will benefit the pace at which we edit the video
when cutting from shot to shot. The pace of the song and the repetition amongst some parts of
the tune are also essential for the build up of continuity between the the editing and the audio.
Certain lyrics of the song also allow for us to develop a relationship between the lyrics and the
visuals which are one of the points come out of Andrew Goodwin’s analysis of features within
music videos. However the lyrics are in the most part quite subjective and lack a clear storyline
which thankfully does still leave scope for us to put our own interpretation on things with the
lyrics being less obvious than in some songs.
The Video:
Our idea for the video in terms of the content/storyline is based around the idea of a boy who
at the beginning of the video is portrayed as unruly and generally disobedient and uninterested
however his interest in a girl at his school encourages him to take the steps required to turn his
life around. The video covers his progress as he makes amendments to his everyday life in the
hope that one day the girl will notice him. He quickly improves his relationship with not only
himself but those around him including his mother who was often critical of him. He gets to a
point where he is unrecognisable from his former self and the girl who he had longed after for so
long had agreed to go out on a date with him, a date that ends in them being together and he as
a different, more positive person.
