2. Existing Product
The reason I chose this
particular magazine is because
Vice magazine has a very
repetitive style seen here, I
would like to use a similar style
on my cover page using the
one main image and not much
else. The use of white space
here makes the main image
stand out more and focuses
you top the image not the text.
Vice magazine also cover a
lot of topics that no one
else touches, that are all
big topics people my own
age talk about all the time
as shown on there
webpage here.
I would like my magazine
too follow up on topics
just like this too help
educate the people who
are interested but struggle
too find the information
that matters and isnât
either bias or wrong.
The black and white filter used on the
image is to make it look vintage and old,
this makes it more individual as an
independent magazine.
The magazine has used a fatter font which
the image is visible through for the title, this
again is more use of white space to keep it
minimalistic but still appealing to the
audience.
3. Existing Product
Again this magazine has used a
similar style too vice, making
one large image on the page do
the speaking not including
much information, I think this is
making it more eye-catching.
Also the image is placed over
the title, this shows he is
important and powerful aswell
as it shows the magazine is
known.
The sub heading they have
chose to use here relates to the
story line suggesting death or
resurrection.
The entertainment magazine is one of the top magazines of our
time, this is because the story's they cover are what people want too
know. Looking at what us so popular at the moment and what
people want too read about there's examples on there web page
here.
On the front of this
magazine they have only
used the colour blue, but
they have used several
shades of the colour
making the image stand
out more not clashing
with the background.
Also the connotations of
this colour resemble
loyalty, wisdom and faith
which relates to the
character used on the
front.
4. Existing ProductThis Time magazine from
the 1980s again uses the
same style with the image
being the only and main
part of the cover page,
but this time the image is
graphic art which I would
also like too include in
mine only mine will not
be used on the front but
influences posters and on
the back.
The title for this particular
magazine stands out and is
a key part of any magazine,
I like this one because it
doesnât explain much but it
is appealing too most
people due too money
being a big thing in society
and making it rich is a
dream of most people.
The magazine has made use of
puns on the cover too keep it
entertaining and appealing.
Also they have a massive figure
head on the front cover linking
it to the audience and what
may be appealing to them at
the time.

26. Research Evaluation
⢠Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the
strengths and weaknesses of each method
âProduct Research
⢠This method I found quite helpful as it gave me an inside on what over magazines use and what is
repeated, it also gave me an initial plan for my layout as I found 3 similar products. However I feel
it did not help me think of any original ideas and only gave me brief plans.
âQuestionnaires
⢠The questioners were a good way to directly address the audience on what they want and exactly
what's appealing to them within a magazine, however I got back results that I personally did not
like and I believe if more specific people were asked I would have had better results.
âInterviews
the interviews meant i could receive more specific feed back and know exactly what
individuals maybe looking for from my magazine, it also gave me a clearer view at what
genre i should make my magazine and make my final decisions.
27. Research Evaluation
âWhat sort of a response did you get?
from my research i received a wide range of responses,
but in particular i saw a repeat in the types of people who
were interested in the surveys and were most interested
by the types of questions i was asking.
âHow did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage
âi used social media which was good as it went out to many people over the internet
and i got responses, although it meant i did not have very specific responses a lot were
different views or just didn't get the question.
