QUESTIONNAIRE ANALYSIS
I made a questionnaire on Google Forms in order to ensure my magazine will be suited for my
target audience by getting their personal responses. I made all questions except the last
questions compulsory to see a true representation of my audiences’ opinions. My last question
wasn’t compulsory as it required the audience to give an opinion of what they would like to
see in my magazine. Doing this will allow me to make the text in the cover lines and article
appropriate and appealing that will make my audience intrigued to read. I got a total of 45
responses to ensure that my data would give a true representation of my taget audience.
2. My responses show that my audience is a mixture of both females and males but although there were more
female’s than males answering my questionnaire I am still going to target my magazine at both genders. I am doing
this to achieve maximum publicity for my magazine as more people will buy it if it is targeted at both genders and I
will do this by having a unisex colour palette, cover lines that will appeal to both genders and a range of music
artists.
3. My audience for this question is mainly 16-24 year olds which I feel is a suitable audience demographic for my target
audience as I feel these ages will be the most in to my genre of alternative rock and will stereotypically buy more
magazines than over 24 year olds.
4. I have decided from my audience feedback to have my colour palette as black, white and red as I feel this is
conventional style that is used a lot in music magazines so will clearly tell the audience what type of magazine this
is. I also feel the colours work well together and create a very bold, eye catching design which is the look I want to
achieve for this font cover. I will link the colour palette in with the model by having bold makeup with red lips.
5. From my research, I can see that my audience would mainly like to read about the newest songs and about different
artists. This will be useful in the development of my article and deciding on my cover lines.
6. I can see that my audience will mainly look at the main image so I need to ensure that my main image is clearly seen
with no text over the model’s face to ensure my magazine stands out to my target audience.
7. The background styles I was considering was either a white background, an exterior background of graffiti or a forest
or an interior background in a room. Although I have decided to shoot my main image with a white background as I
feel this works with my colour palette of black white and red, I may consider an exterior approach for my contents
page or double page spread to offer a sense of diversity.
8. I have decided to price my magazine £3.99 as the 99p makes the magazine appear cheaper than it actually is and I
can see that my target audience would be happy to pay this much.
9. My magazine would be available monthly as this is when my target audience appear to be buying magazines so it
will be released online and in stores at the beginning of each month.
10. This question wasn’t compulsory as it allows my audience to give their opinion of what they wanted for the
magazine. I had 38 responses suggesting what they would like to see in my magazine.
11. Looking at people’s responses on my last question, it allows me to see what my target
audience will want to read on my magazine which will overall make my magazine more
interesting if it includes topics my audience have requested. I can see that five people
requested a different perspective of situations from the media and two people asked for
anything music related and advertisements involving music and also a main image that
stands out and is eye catching with an effective colour scheme. This part of my research
was the most useful as it allows me to see what my target audience want from their point
of view to ensure that my magazine will appeal to my target audience.
