Working Title:
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience:
The demographic Iam trying to appeal is to be the 13-19-age range and my audience will be specifically
male. This will be like an 80% male and 20% female. My projectwill appeal to this age range because I will
include informal language and also include information theywould wantto hear.Another reason why the
targeted age will be interested in my magazine is because Iwill include several images ofmusic artists. The
audience teenagers Iam trying to appeal to will also be those who convey to the urban theme. The teenager
demographic Iam trying to appeal to will also be those who enjoy listening to music and are more interested
within that than other random people. These will be people with interests like going to gigs, alreadybuy
magazines related to music and also those who buyalbums. My audience for my other potential product that
is merchandise will be slightlydifferent. The audience will still be the male demographic and will also be the
same age range. The only slightdifferentwill be that they will have slightlydifferent level of interests. One
different level of interestthey will have is that for my merchandise theywill be very interested in streetwear
brands such as supreme and palace. My merchandise Iam trying to create will be within this area. My
audience I am trying to target are more interested in this because theyare mostlikely people to buy this. For
my product as a whole the social status I am going to try and target will be those of middle class. This is
because they are going to have to pay for the magazine or the merchandise to read them. The social status
for this is going to be middle class also because higher class people are notusuallyassociated with informal
music magazines and theyhave connotations such as posh, wealth and also formal. All of these things will
not be included within mymagazine.Lower class people will notbe targeted as they are usuallyassociated
with connotations such as poor and rough. The psychographic Iam trying to target for my magazine and my
merchandise will be those ofwhich are balanced, this is because theyare not trying to achieve anything
whilstreading or buying merchandise. The purpose ofmy project is to entertain the audience whilstlooking
good.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Throughout the year I have found the rotations helpful. This was because I got to see what I really
liked and what I didn’t like as much. The rotation I liked the most was when we were doing print.
This is because I felt like the research and the other power points went very well and set me up for
production the best out of the 3 rotations. This was because I felt that it was the easiest for me too
look and analyse magazine covers and double page spreads, this was also because I enjoyed
them the most. The skills I have learnt from this is that by looking at possibly 3 similar products no
matter what area you can start to recognize specific conventions. I also learnt many skills during
production those of which will be used in this product. These are those in Photoshop. The one
process I have learnt in Photoshop and will be used in this was to remember to line up my tech
and the images. Using the ruler tool does this.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The possible products I am going to create are possibly 3 issues for the same brand of magazine.
This will be my own name of magazine. Some examples of magazines names are NME and
Billboard. The concept of this is to create and aesthetically looking product which will appeal to the
audience. This will be done by including bright colours and including the conventions of
magazines. These are things such as a masthead; cover lines and also some headings. The
magazine covers will also feature a double page spread. The concept for this is to include relevant
information that conveys to the genre type, for example I am making a music magazine so I will
include music articles. This is because this is what the audience want and also because this is a
convention. The double page spread will also be laid out in a readable manor. By this I mean it will
be set out so that the audience can easily read it. The colours included will be colours that do not
stand out to much. This is because I will most likely included white or black text so I will need to
include colours that create a contrast against the text. Another product I plan to create will be
some merchandise for the magazine. This will be similar to Thrasher magazine. This is in the
sense that I will create a magazine and will include merchandise based of the, magazine
masthead weather this is a logo or possibly the name. These will be colours of clothing, which
appeal to my target audience and also are aesthetically pleasing to look at. This is because people
don’t want to buy clothes that don’t look good. For this I will also conduct some advertising weather
this just be for the merchandise or possibly both the magazine and the merchandise as a whole.
The research I will have to conduct will be to look at existing product. This will help me, as I will be
able to identify the possible conventions. These are elements that I will also want to include. This
is because it will make my magazine look more professional.

What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate my work by taking screenshots of my production and also the research I have
conducted. From this I will be able to look at and compare this to exiting products. Another way I
will do this is to get peoples opinions. Myself conducting and sending out a survey could do this by
peer feedback or possibly. This will give me an Idea of what I need to include or change.
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation and your final
self-reflection, analysing your work and its outcomes.
