Theory- Audience
Alex Hiscoe
Audience Profile
• Primary Audience
The main target audience for his film will be aged 16-20 yr olds. This
will be because the film clearly expresses violence, gore and explicit
language. One main reason why 16 yr olds will be allowed to watch
this is because this film shows some sort of modern day violence so its
nothing new to the teenagers that they haven’t seen before. The main
gender that will watch this film within the age group is most probably
be male, this is because they are more into violent gory things
because they reflect most of there interest towards that stuff like gory
video games and shooters. Teenage girls might not like this film
because they are no into zombies and gory things like teenage boys or
even young adults.
• Secondary Audience
The secondary audience for this film will be 30-40 yr olds. This is
because if they are a parent of a sixteen yr old then they will be forced
to watch the film with them. This is because either the cinema doesn’t
allow them into the screening area because they don't have a parent
with them so they are forced to go in or they just want to watch a film
and that is the only choice. I would say that female is the main gender
that will watch this film only because they have matured a bit away
from being a princess and not liking gory scary movies unlike boys
back when they where young.
Audience Profile
• Primary Audience
The main primary audience for this film will be 14-18 year olds. 14
year old will like his film because it is not based around earth but
another planet with mysterious people living on it. Young teenagers
will find this interesting because it captures the eyes of them and
brings the creativity side out. Both genders will like this film equally
because it is not all gore and has a romance story throughout the
entire film. So both genders get the best out of the film for there own
satisfaction. But the reason wh y18 year olds will like this film is
because it is nit a childish cartoon, it has elements of modern day and
society. For example a higher species is trying to take over and beat
the lower indigenous people. This reflects back to modern society.
This relates to older people and interests them to watch more and
find more about the film.
• Secondary Audience
The secondary audience for his film will be parents again because if
you have a child who is to young to watch I then the parents are going
to need to watch it with them but this could cause adults to like the
film because it is not just a child cartoon. Both adult and female
parents will like to watch this film because there is nothing more than
the other like there is violence but there is also romance so both
things counteract each other therefor both genders will like the film.
Audience Profile
• Primary Audience
The primary audience for this film will be 4-10 yr olds this is because it
is a silly cartoon which shows a panda been a kung fu master.
Children will like this film because it is colourful and stupid. Both boy
and girl will like this film because it is not directed at any sex. Both
boys and girls can both be as silly as they want because they are just
children. Also since that the main character is just a pander then
neither one of the children can say I don’t like it because its not a boy
or girl.
• Secondary Audience
The secondary audience for this film will be definitely the parents of
the children because they are going to be forced to watch these films
with there kids because they want to go see it. Both male and female
adults will like this film because they have o reason to hate because its
fun for all the family and might have some adult humour in the film
just because the directors knew there children are going o be forcing
them to watch it with them.
Hypodermic Needle
• Definition the hypodermic needle model is a model of communication in which it is clearly received and
accepted. This model was brought in or rooted in the 1930s
• Example an example of this is that if the media told you something that you never knew before then you
would assume its real. For example when the Nazis was putting out propaganda they would tell them something and write it
in such away they would have to think it was real and support them so by telling them false lies or explaining a situation that
could only seem right by the way they written the information.
This theory would also have such an influence on them they would do certain actions like panic or even go crazy. The best
example of this theory is back in 1938 when war of the worlds was been broadcasted in America. Everybody thought they where
being attacked from outta space causing huge panic amongst the public. This was all because know body on the radio told them it
was just a story and since they didn’t have television and phones they couldn’t communicate or look at the news and obviously
the news was on the radio whilst war of the worlds was been broadcasted.
Uses and Gratifications Information
Uses and Gratifications Information
This is where people actively seek out different media outlets for different reasons, so if you wanted silly news
you would choose lad bible or unilad. If you wanted the more serious news then the bbc or itv news would be
more acceptable for more important reasons like world news or news to do with economics and politics. It
assumes that audience members are not passive consumers of media. Rather the audience has power over
their media consumption and assumes an active role in interpreting and integrating media into their own lives.
I would personally choose to look at the silly news on lad bible or unilad, this is because I prefer this type of
media and important news like politics don’t interest me enough to watch it or learn it.
Uses and Gratifications Personal
Identity
Uses and Gratifications Integration and personal identity – the personal identity need explains how being a
subject of the media allows us to reaffirm the identity and positioning of ourselves within society. The
characters in soaps are usually designed to have wildly different characteristics, so that everyone can find
someone to represent themselves, someone to aspire and someone to despise. You can improve and find new
behavioural traits as you explore more social medias this can improve your manors towards others in real life
situations.
Uses and Gratifications Integration and
Social Interaction
The use of the applications Facebook, snapchat, Instagram, Tumblr. These media platforms make socialising
much more easier for people who want to interact with other people around the world. Most people can do
this with just a couple of clicks and now the thing they wanted to say can be viewed by thousands of people.
This can lead you to meeting new people that you never thought you would meet in your life. For example
gaming can bring about lots of discussions amongst people who these people might even become friends from
it. You also feel like you are apart of something since somebody else has bothered to talk to you about a topic
you might of brought up and this can make you have a sense of belonging on social media. You also could find
somebody you really like from social spaces on the internet like facebook or gaming online.
Uses and Gratifications Entertainment
The entertainment will let you relax and forget everything people have said in mainstream media and on certain
socialising platforms. Entertainment can also be used for escapism and so this lets you free express your self at no
cost of people judging you like they would on media platforms like Facebook or Instagram. Entertainment also
gives you enjoyment this can improve your mood and make you enjoy activities more. You can relax more as you
become more with escapism because you don’t have to feel like every body is judging you this makes you feel
much more happier with yourself.
Consumer Generated Content
• Example
People posting videos on YouTube for other people to view like and subscribe to there channel
People posting there own pictures on Instagram and facebook for others to view like and share.
Video games like little big planet and Disney infinity where consumers of the product are encouraged to create
content and maps for the game sort of like the game trails where consumers are encouraged to make new trails
maps for people to use.
• What are the advantages to media producers?
One major advantage of media producers is that there is more content for people to view this improves the
name media sources get like YouTube and facebook
Also people can get good jobs from posting content on sites like YouTube and facebook this leads people to
new and improved jobs which benefit them the most.
• Why would the audience generate content?
the audience want to generate content because they want to be the ones giving consumers the content they
want. Also people don’t want to be consumed by mainstream media which on occasions lie and tell false
information. But audiences also generate content because they want to be the ones talking charge and
providing the funniest content they can produce for people.

Both adult and female parents will like to watch this film because there is nothing more than the other like there is violence but there is also romance so both things counteract each other therefor both genders will like the film.
  • 4. Audience Profile • Primary Audience The primary audience for this film will be 4-10 yr olds this is because it is a silly cartoon which shows a panda been a kung fu master. Children will like this film because it is colourful and stupid. Both boy and girl will like this film because it is not directed at any sex. Both boys and girls can both be as silly as they want because they are just children. Also since that the main character is just a pander then neither one of the children can say I don’t like it because its not a boy or girl. • Secondary Audience The secondary audience for this film will be definitely the parents of the children because they are going to be forced to watch these films with there kids because they want to go see it. Both male and female adults will like this film because they have o reason to hate because its fun for all the family and might have some adult humour in the film just because the directors knew there children are going o be forcing them to watch it with them.
  • 5. Hypodermic Needle • Definition the hypodermic needle model is a model of communication in which it is clearly received and accepted. This model was brought in or rooted in the 1930s • Example an example of this is that if the media told you something that you never knew before then you would assume its real. For example when the Nazis was putting out propaganda they would tell them something and write it in such away they would have to think it was real and support them so by telling them false lies or explaining a situation that could only seem right by the way they written the information. This theory would also have such an influence on them they would do certain actions like panic or even go crazy. The best example of this theory is back in 1938 when war of the worlds was been broadcasted in America. Everybody thought they where being attacked from outta space causing huge panic amongst the public. This was all because know body on the radio told them it was just a story and since they didn’t have television and phones they couldn’t communicate or look at the news and obviously the news was on the radio whilst war of the worlds was been broadcasted.
  • 6. Uses and Gratifications Information Uses and Gratifications Information This is where people actively seek out different media outlets for different reasons, so if you wanted silly news you would choose lad bible or unilad. If you wanted the more serious news then the bbc or itv news would be more acceptable for more important reasons like world news or news to do with economics and politics. It assumes that audience members are not passive consumers of media. Rather the audience has power over their media consumption and assumes an active role in interpreting and integrating media into their own lives. I would personally choose to look at the silly news on lad bible or unilad, this is because I prefer this type of media and important news like politics don’t interest me enough to watch it or learn it.
  • 7. Uses and Gratifications Personal Identity Uses and Gratifications Integration and personal identity – the personal identity need explains how being a subject of the media allows us to reaffirm the identity and positioning of ourselves within society. The characters in soaps are usually designed to have wildly different characteristics, so that everyone can find someone to represent themselves, someone to aspire and someone to despise. You can improve and find new behavioural traits as you explore more social medias this can improve your manors towards others in real life situations.
  • 8. Uses and Gratifications Integration and Social Interaction The use of the applications Facebook, snapchat, Instagram, Tumblr. These media platforms make socialising much more easier for people who want to interact with other people around the world. Most people can do this with just a couple of clicks and now the thing they wanted to say can be viewed by thousands of people. This can lead you to meeting new people that you never thought you would meet in your life. For example gaming can bring about lots of discussions amongst people who these people might even become friends from it. You also feel like you are apart of something since somebody else has bothered to talk to you about a topic you might of brought up and this can make you have a sense of belonging on social media. You also could find somebody you really like from social spaces on the internet like facebook or gaming online.

Entertainment can also be used for escapism and so this lets you free express your self at no cost of people judging you like they would on media platforms like Facebook or Instagram. Entertainment also gives you enjoyment this can improve your mood and make you enjoy activities more. You can relax more as you become more with escapism because you don’t have to feel like every body is judging you this makes you feel much more happier with yourself.

Consumer Generated Content • Example People posting videos on YouTube for other people to view like and subscribe to there channel People posting there own pictures on Instagram and facebook for others to view like and share. Video games like little big planet and Disney infinity where consumers of the product are encouraged to create content and maps for the game sort of like the game trails where consumers are encouraged to make new trails maps for people to use. • What are the advantages to media producers? One major advantage of media producers is that there is more content for people to view this improves the name media sources get like YouTube and facebook Also people can get good jobs from posting content on sites like YouTube and facebook this leads people to new and improved jobs which benefit them the most. • Why would the audience generate content? the audience want to generate content because they want to be the ones giving consumers the content they want. Also people don’t want to be consumed by mainstream media which on occasions lie and tell false information. But audiences also generate content because they want to be the ones talking charge and providing the funniest content they can produce for people.
