2. Existing Product
In this product you can see the coloured a lot of red, the colour red will
be my main colour to use in my poster this is because red has
connotations of violence and action this would be perfect for my
magazine and poster. In this poster you can see there is main focus on
the centre, this could be so they can attract there audience, I might use
this idea to generate mystery. This poster also has the title at the
bottom this could be because black on that poster leads to look at the
bottom because the colour is out of context to everything else. It might
also be at the bottom because the colour of the title is the same as one
of the secondary background colours. This might appeal to an audience
of people aged from 15-23 because this is the age range that play video
games and this is a video game poster. Even though this poster
generates a lot of eye catching visuals there could be some more text to
give people an idea of different things like the date the game will be
released. Or if its promotional or some cool catch phrase to intrigue the
people to look at it. This poster makes the audience makes the people
want to investigate more since it doesn't give a lot of details away, this
can boost how much reputation in gets for a good mysterious puzzle
and game. Another consideration when analysing this product is the
text displayed at the bottom of the page which is called masthead,
bioshock is a modern and clean sans serif font which suggests that it is
targeted at younger audience. Infinite however is more traditional font
known as a serif font which suggests that the gameplay and story line is
targeted at towards a older mature audience who appreciate a good
narrative.
3. Existing Product
In this poster you can see this is an advertisement poster for a game called
fallout. In this poster you can see that they are advertising an in game
consumable, this might be because they want to get the consumers into
the feel of the game before it is released, on the poster you can see that
there is red mixed with a pale sand colour, these colours contrast well and
stand out allot, the nuka cola bottle doesn’t blend into the background so
the main object is easily visible, this is good because it gives the consumer
something visually interesting to look at. At the top of the poster there is a
big title, a big title is good because it draws people in to look at it, the
colour the title is red like the bottom of the background colour but this red
is in front of the pale sand colour this means the red cant blend in and so it
stand out. There is also a price number at the right side of the poster, I like
this feature because it makes it more authentic and cool which yet again
could be the thing that attracts people to look at it. There is a circle behind
the bottle with a different colour inside it, this could just be to add more
depth to the poster or to try and make the bottle more visible along with
its little features like darkened black lines. At the bottom there is a little
fun catch phrase saying ‘now with 50% less radiation’, this is ironic because
was a nuclear war years ago so everything was infected but this isn’t and
has less, this could make people laugh, it could also leave a message in
there minds. the font that this poster portrays is that it is very subtle. This
is a big part to this poster because as the poster shows it is advertising a
product from the game, so the font is formal at the top and then ordinary
at the bottom, the reason enjoy a Nuka cola is formal is because its
specifically speaking to the audience.
4. Existing Product
In this poster you can see the main colour scheme is red and black this could be
because it is a violent game that the poster is trying portrait through colours. In
the background you can see a warrior which looks like the bad guy and then a
smaller character with a gun standing in a heroic stance, this could mean that the
good guys maybe weaker but are more patriotic than the bigger more devilish
people who is the big warrior in the background. The words are also in red which
yet again supports my idea of this poster being violent, the title seems to be at
the bottom but with very faded words at the top of the poster, this leads to the
more mysteries this poster could hold for the game. In the background you can
also see what look like to be a outline of a village on the horizon of the poster
with soldiers there, this could mean whoever the big person is has taken over
everything, also this is linked to Germany so this poster could be showing what it
would be like if Hitler had one all of his wars, it could portray that everything
would be bad and dark and gloomy. The people this product might be aimed at
could be the ages from 16-20, this is because this age range is the most likely to
play video games due to the low age. Another age group that might play this
type of game is older people from the age of 30-37, this could be due to the fact
they might know much more about Nazi Germany and so it interests them more
to play it. The font and text on this poster seems very edgy and strong. This could
be linked with the fact that the game is set in Nazi times. This seems very unique
in the choice of style. The font also seems very industrial and this could also be
linked to the style of the game with Nazi Germany being a very strong and
industrial technological power at the time.
5. Existing Product
In this poster you can see that yet again the colour scheme is dark with red and
black, but this poster had different tones of red and black, this makes the poster
more unique than others from what I have researched. At the bottom you can
see a ‘coming soon’ this means that this is an advertisement for a game. The
title is yet again at the bottom instead of at the top, this could be because there
is already lots of detail at the top of the poster and non at the bottom so by
putting that title and other words down there it gives the poster more depth
overall. The writing is also white so you can see it from the black background,
this is good contrasting colours.
The main focus point the poster wants you to focus on looks like a soldier with a
gun, this soldier is also wearing a very big gas mask so it looks like it has
something to do with either aliens or chemical warfare, this can get the
consumer very intrigued as to what this poster could be trying to tell us so it
makes people want to wait and buy the game when it s released, along with my
t shirt idea this could make a very good t shirt design because it is very spooky.
The primary audience for this game will be teenagers, this is because this game
is very action driven and isn’t for children because it’s a horror game and a lot
of teenagers like action horror driven games. This doesn’t mean that people
older than the teenage years from 20-30 cant play them because they also
might like a horror action genre of game and some might like them more than
teenagers. The font on this poster is very big and blocky, this could be because it
is portraying the style of the game. It also reminds me a strong structure and
when you think of strong you think of Russia being a strong nation that it is and
since this game is set in soviet Russian times this font seems very suitable. This
is very good because it gives more realism to the game. The text at the bottom
is also a masthead.
6. Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products have?
– The most common feature my chosen researched products is that they all have the red
themes for a colour in the background.
– Another common feature is the layout. All the posters have the same layout, this is a clear
sign that I need to create. Poster that has the same layout as these to design a good product.
This is good to follow the layout from these posters because these games are all well
established in the gaming community.
– some other common features the products have is the mystery behind them. They all have
there own meaning but don’t give it out in the poster, I think they want you to find out that
meaning when you buy the game the poster is advertising.
• What aspects of the research will you include within your on
work?
– The main aspect that I will include from research is that I will use the colour red mostly
because I want to create a cool mysterious game poster as well as a cool t shirt design.
– Another aspect I will include is the layout and the design with the writing at the bottom
maybe. I feel like this would be my best bet to make a very detailed poster which can attract
my audience.
– One other aspect is the simplicity, I don’t need to make a poster that has everything on it
because from the products o have chosen to research have little to no words, this is very good
because it shows it can attract a group of people without needing anything on it and I feel this
would be a very good feature to look into when designing my poster.

banners?
• A. I find the use of words on a headline of a magazine interesting because thay can say
a lot about the article.

• A. I would need to be interested to buy it, I'm not going to buy something unless it
stands out to me.
• Q. would you recommend someone to buy a magazine
• A. Yes if it’s a magazine I have read and found interesting
20. Interview 1
• Observation: from what I can see is that this person likes magazines if they are
interested in the topic, this is really good because I can get good constructive
feedback on what I should and how I should do it. They also said they would
recommend the product if they liked it which is also good because this means that
there is more people like this person in there family.
• What this says about my audience: this tells me that they are into
video games because they seem very interested in magazine if it was something
that they liked and by the way they was talking they would like this product very
much if I stick with this main idea of mine.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: the way I will help it
appeal to my audience is by targeting more people like this and specifically trying
to implemented things that they liked in the headline and banner, this is one major
question that I implemented to get this sort of reaction and response. So I will

they like it then this is a bonus

be eye catching for me to buy it because I'm like a fish
• Q. would you recommend someone to buy a magazine
• A. no because when you buy magazines they are more personal to you and not to
others.
22. Interview 2
• Observation: from my observations I can see that this person does like games magazines
as much as the other person but wouldn’t recommend them, the reason being is because its his
preferences, this is very interesting because people have a trend with other people which is why
people are friends so this could mean that this person only rally likes this type of topic from his
pears and others. The person also said they like visually attracting things, this is like the previous
interview so maybe there is a trend with things looking good on posters and magazines.
• What this says about my audience:this tells me that this person likes
video games and things based around his own liking, this is also a recurring trend from both parties,
this could also tells me that he looks at a lot of posters if he likes visually attracting things, this is
perfect for me because I can use this information on what ideas and how I design it because if I end
up creating something that isn't attractive then I know I haven’t done my job correctly in listening
to the people I have interviewed.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: my product
will appeal to this person because I will be creating a very attractive poster that goas along
this person and the previous persons needs, my product will also be very attractive to this
person because it is about games and this person is very fond of games, this is a big boost for
me because I have got very good feedback from the right type of person and this can boost
and improve the way I design my poster from start to finish whether it does mean me
changer=ing and tweaking a few things it will still be good due to this good feedback.
23. Audience Profile
Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience
Age Range
16-22 • Content to appeal to this audience could be films or tv shows, this is because
Netflix is having a massive rise in costumers who are aged between this
demographic. This has a major impact on people who are within this age range
because they are always watching new films or tv shows that have been
released, another reason why this demographic will watch countless films is
because of the way the have been brought up
Gender
• Male
• female
• Content to appeal to the primary audience could be sports magazines or video
games based around action and race cars, this is because normally males like
this type of thing more than women. The colours that they would mainly like to
see on these products will be blue, red, white, black, orange.
• Things that might appeal to the secondary audience is magazines about cloths
or some sort of beauty care instructions, they might also like posters that are
advertising films, some colours that might be associated with this secondary
audience will be pink, blue, red, purple.
Psychographic
Belonger • Magazines, a belonger might like this product because they like one brand and
most of the magazines and newspapers are made in the uk, if they like one
magazine creator then they will stick with them and most of the time the
magazine creators will stick with an author so belonger have no reason to
change to a different magazine.
Social Status
High social status
Low social status
• Things that this primary audience that will find something interesting will be
nice cars or luxuries cars along with very well made cloths. This is because they
can afford things that a normal people wouldn’t be able to. The main brands
they will looking at is Gucci and Luis Vuitton.
• Things that will interest this secondary audience could be everything from toys
to films, this is because they like to enjoy what they have by having fun and
getting the little things because that’s all what matters really. They will also like
films because everybody loves films.
25. Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of
each method
– Product Research – product research was mainly good though because I could see what others have
designed and so I could take all the best ideas from the other products and incorporate them into my own
experiment. One disadvantage though is that I cant copy there ideas completely so its hard to totally re
design a idea that is already existing, but mainly this was a very good method of finding things about similar
products to mine and hopefully will improve my work.
– Questionnaires – one strength there is to the questionnaires is that I can get the views of other people and
then see if I can incorporate them into my final product or into my experiments to see if they work. But one
downfall to this is that sometimes they might not be telling the truth so its hard to get a legitimate answer if
they end up not telling the truth, there might also be trolls who don’t help and answer the ones that
specifically need answering which is bad for me because then I cant get a constructive responses with the
limited response I have.
– Interviews – interviews are an ok method in receiving information and asking questions, you get a much
better response and more formal, this is a really good strong point because the people you are interviewing
are less likely to lie and tell you other wise. Its also good because you can send multiple out at the same
time like a questionnaire, and this is perfect because you can get a better and more accurate response than
the questionnaires. One major downfall though Is if you ae sending them over the internet then there is a
high chance they will not reply and do the interview which is a really bad point because if you are relying on
these people and they let you down the you need to resort and quickly find someone to do it that might not
even be interested in the topic so this leads to not accurate results leading you to create a product that
people end up not liking.
26. Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
– The response I got from both people was very positive, they helped me in deciding how I
should go about using visuals and banners and I they like them, the vital information they gave
me helped me massively to also decide if I should design a game magazine instead of anything
else.
– The response from both though was also motivating because all my questions where
answered with full honesty so I know that I can trust these people to give constructive
feedback and they did.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage
– They way I distributed my survey was by posting a web link in a group chat full of friends, this
was a mix of good responses and some bad responses, one positive out of this is that I can get
responses quick and easy which is good for me because I was running short on time and so I
needed these responses right away. Now one major negative was that some of my friends did
not answer my survey in the correct manner that they should’ve, this was disappointing but
they where only messing about, now I didn’t pay attention to these bad responses but some
did give a diversity in results which is good because I can show how some category of people
like the product instead of just sticking to one age range which all like the Same stuff.
