Objective of BIM Project Execution
Plan
To successfully implement Building Information Modelling
(BIM) on a project, the project team has to develop a
MBIM Project Execution Plan.
The BIM Project Execution Plan defines uses for BIM on
the building construction project from design,
engineering, construction to facility management, along
with a collaboration process for executing BIM on the
project.
The goal of the BIM Project Execution Plan is to manage
and control the quality of the BIM deliverables

For buildings with a large footprint or multiple floors, the project team may split the model into

simulation of detailed elements and systems.
LOD 400 – Model level of development considered suitable for fabrication and assembly. This
model will include all as-constructed details for the CLIENT’s use to manage the facility. This is
h i l f b il d i i h di i l ithe equivalent of as-built drawings in the traditional construction process.
LOD 500 – The final level of detail represents the project as it has been constructed including
property assets itemized with key parameters required by the CLIENT added to the model. All
as-built record drawings and documentation at the time of turnover must be provided in the
CAD f l f El l d d h d l b d l d b h h 2D d 3DCAD native file format. Elements included in the model must be detailed in both the 2D and 3D
documentation for CLIENT use. Elements must be clearly marked or tagged and visual in both
the 2D and 3D documentation.

Communication protocol should be established between all

procedures need to be set in place.
Each of the models created during project progression and
d l d b l d d d ldevelopment needs to be pre-planned considering model content,
level of detail, format and responsible party for updates, quality
and distribution of the model to all the parties involved in the
di ti ff tcoordination efforts.
Each of the parties contributing to the BIM model should have a
responsible person or Model Manager to handle the model.
Model Managers, as part of the core BIM team, are in charge of
participating in design reviews and coordination sessions along with
taking care of all the issues that might arise with keeping the model
updated, accurate and comprehensive.
