Vivian In Pretty Woman
In Garry Marshall s Pretty Woman, Vivian Ward s transformation from a red light district prostitute to
the perfect woman illustrates traits the movie argues make an ideal woman. The movie highlights
Vivian s acquisition of refined manners, taste, and outward appearance in addition to her individuality
and sense of priority to exemplify these traits as characteristic of the ideal woman. One can see Vivian
already has some traits that make her an ideal woman even before she meets Edward. At the beginning
of the movie, instead of partying and doing drugs with her roommate, Kit De Luca, Vivian prioritizes
paying the month s rent even though it is not even her apartment. Similarly, in the penthouse
bathroom, Edward catches Vivian with what he believes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the opera, Vivian makes multiple small, yet noticeable decisions that reflect her new traits nearly
opposite of her former self. When Edward s lawyer, Philip, invites himself into the penthouse and
offers Vivian a drink, she politely declines. If one were to think back to the beginning of the movie,
when Edward first invites Vivian into the penthouse, she was more than happy to have a drink, while
Edward declined. Similarly, when Philip makes sexual advances on her, Vivian refuses even if he were
to pay her, while she was all too happy to sell her services out on the

SHOULD MALE PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES BE PAID MORE THAT FEMALE ATHLETES?
Toady sports is viewed by fans all around the world rather it being basketball, football, or baseball.
Sports has become more of a gender controversial topic than simply enjoying the excitement of the
players doing what they love to do so well. Women athletes are generally under paid compared to the
men s salaries in various sports do to the lack of viewers. Women sports doesn t generate enough
revenue, so the leagues can t afford to pay the women as much as the men in their contracts. Women
sports are important to the world and the fans and supporters that watch and cheer alongside the
players. However due to the lack of viewers, women sports are not generating enough money to allow
bigger contracts for women athletes. Women sports are loved by its fans and supporters; however,
most sports fans consider women sports to be step down from the excitement of watching the men
engage in the game that they are playing. For instance take the US Women s Soccer team, compared to
the men s world cup the women tournament only generated 15 million dollars for the entire series. On
the other side, the US Men s Soccer team World Cup generated a whopping 576 million dollars. The
fans that follow sports doesn t think negative about women sports they just

Analysis Of Dulce Et Decorum Est By Wilfred Owen
Wilfred Owen, a British war poet, used multiple poetic devices to enhance and explore the futility of
war within Dulce et Decorum Est . Dulce et Decorum Est the first segment of a Latin saying Dulce et
decorum est Pro patria mori , translates to It is sweet and right collectively translating to It is sweet
and right to die for your country . The theme within Owen s poem contests this saying, through the
implementation of irony. The utilisation of imagery effectively contradicts the heroic perception of
war, subsequently contradicting the title s translation. Owen s implementation of similes enables
relatability for the audience, ultimately generating a similar vivid image for every audience. The use
of metaphors allows a greater understanding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The effectivity of the stylistic devices implemented aid the image of death portrayed, despite the
minimal mention of death itself: mentioned in mori (to die). The imagery implemented within the
poem is vivid, evoking images that describe the futility of war. Ironically, the poem s content directly
contradicts the title, for the poem describes the brutality, irrationality and death associated with war,
whereas the title translates to it is sweet and proper . Dulce et Decorum Est describes the absurdity of
war, debunking the patriotic saying Dulce et decorum est, Pro patria mori . For it is not sweet and
proper to die for one s country, it is demoralizing, torturous and ultimately

Culture Of The Philippines Essay
THE HISTORY AND STABILITY OF THE PHILIPPINES A nation s culture resides in the hearts and
in the soul of its people (Ghandi, Mahatma 2017). For about the first time this lush land was
discovered, the Filipinos have always been proud of their culture, their religion, customs and beliefs. A
part of their culture is transmitted through their various languages, material objects, rituals, institution,
and art from one generation to the next. They, like any other country had its ups and downs with
things they re not so proud of like their stability financially and with their government. But despite
that, the Philippines have more to offer than just their land and what the land has to offer other
countries for they literally are still fighting their own wars within themselves and the country is still
going through turmoil then and now. In 1521, a Portuguese explorer named Ferdinand Magellan was
discovering lands for Spain and came across a body of islands which stretched across the seas, which
became known as the Philippines; officially known as the Republic of the Philippines (Lambert, Tim).
Since Magellan was working in Spain at that time, He was able to claim the island for Spain. But a
few months later, Magellan was killed during a tribal warfare against the Lapu Lapu s Army on the
Mactan Island. Because of that, the Spaniard did not gain a base in the Philippines until Miguel Lopez
de Legazpi led an expedition and built a fort in Cebu which later opened up the Spaniards to

Champions Of The World Cup
Champions of the World. My dad had grabbed us by the scruff of our necks and pulled us in close with
tears in his eyes, whispering Were going to watch Italy win the fucking World Cup! and amidst the
90,000 loyal german fans around us I wondered if that was the first time I ever heard him swear.
Rather then jumping around and celebrating, we embraced in a truly passionate hug and I could feel
the sweat on the back of his jersey, as if he had just fought for two hours. We watched Italy battle
Germany for 118 minutes before Fabio Grosso curled a left footer home and broke the deadlock. My
father purchased tickets to two games six months in advance of the biggest soccer tournament in the
world, Italy versus Czech Republic, and the World Cup final. On July 5th, 2006 at a fan fest in
Munich, my brother, father and I sported our team Italy jerseys and cheered as our team conquered the
German squad on their own soil. I remember going through the ticket gates of Olympiastadion, with a
rapidly beating heart, praying to God that our tickets were real, and that we would be allowed in the
gates. The sun was fast descending as we made our way to our seats and awaited kickoff. Seven
minutes in, the french side struck first after Zenidene Zidane converted a penalty kick, which was
cheaply awarded after Florent Malouda dove in the box, appealing to the referee with his arms flailing
around, despite being in the second tier, we could see there was no contact on the apparent foul. The

Swimming is an ancient activity that has taken place since both water and humans were on the earth.
Around 10,000 years ago humans found prehistoric evidence of recreational swimming on Stone Age
paintings. Books such as the Iliad, The Odyssey and the bible all include references of swimming.
Around 1830 in England swimming started to become a popular recreational activity. By the time
1837 rolled around the National Swimming Society held six different competitions around London.
In 1875 captain Matthew Webb was the first person to swim the English Channel. He completed the
swim using the breaststroke technique for 21.26 miles. This record would not be broken for another 36
years. In the year 1896 men s swimming became part of the first modern Olympic Games.

Around this time color people would not be allowed to swim in public pools. Most colored people did
not know how to swim. White people made up stories that colored people could not swim because of
the way their bodies worked. In 1964, the Civil Rights Act opened swimming pools to all people.
The Olympic athlete I chose was Michael Phelps. I chose Michael Phelps because he is one of the top
swimmers on the world and he was won many medals. Michael Fred Phelps was born on June 30,
1985. He was raised by his mother Debbie and his father Michael in Towson, Maryland. At the age of

Bob Bowman. At a young age Phelps was diagnosed with ADHD. When he was only fifteen years old

The Thing In The Apartment By John William Ross
Since the first sound film in 1927, filmmakers employed tools to create sound effects and complete the
illusion (Cavalcanti, 1939). The use of sound became essential to the quality of films, particularly in
fiction where the audience seeks entertainment and thrill. Indeed, Rockett (1982) notes that music,
background noises and sounds effects are the elements creating a particular mood or atmosphere.
This theory is notably applicable to the horror genre, as its specificity is to incite fear and play on the
viewer s nerves. According to Rockett, horror is indeed primarily a sound based medium (1982).
Horror films sounds play with emotions, for instance with abrupt shifts up and down in pitch. As Gron
states, these sound contrasts function as priming mechanisms , playing with spectators expectations of
the scare (2013). These theories lead to the importance of recognising what makes an efficient sound
track to frighten the audience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this short refers to most conventions of horror films and does not shine by the originality of
the storyline, it does produce a very effective tension with regards to its short length. In this piece, I
will outline to what extent the sound of this short is powerful in creating tension and dread. I will first
set out the storyline and explain how The Thing in the Apartment characterises classical features of the
horror genre. Secondly, I will analyse the role of silence and background noise in shaping horror, as
well as highlighting how the sound contrasts inspire

The American Paragraph By John Barry Analysis
There are so many impressive places in New York City, but if I really want to choose a most favorable
landscape in this city. That s Central Park. In this city where everything is so fast paced and it seem
everyone have pressures on their business and the stress of their daily life, but Central Park just like a
beautiful and picturesque oasis in the middle of this city where people can go to relax, running, ice
skate, jog and even though you can paint or sketch, lay on the chair to take a nap in the cloudy
afternoon. For my personal experience, I like to take a walk in the central park when I m free. Every
time I have been to Central Park, it gives a comfortable and easy atmosphere around me. Regardless

The American Company Called Amazon
1) Introduction In order to carry out this research, I have chosen the American company called
Amazon. It is a well known, web based international retailer which is based in Seattle, Washington. 2)
Product Description Amazon started out as a simple web auctions based service in kind to eBay, but
failed to cut into the market share. The company then became a marketplace for fixed price goods
much like an online retail website with a small collection of goods for sale. Over time it started to
develop its product line and range by supplying DVDs, CDs, software, apparel, beauty products,
groceries, health care products, kitchen supplies, jewelry, musical instruments and other items
(Mudambi and Schuff, 2010). The website was able to provide an online platform to these products.
As the company matured, it expanded its retail services and then also developed delivery services of
its products to people s doorsteps at the prescribed time. Demand and Future Outlook The basic nature
of the demand curve will always be negatively sloped as people would be willing to demand less at
higher prices and higher at lower prices. The factors which can affect the demand curve and cause it to
shift for Amazon will include number of buyers. As buyers in the market increase, the curve will shift
outwards as more people will be willing to buy at the same price. As the income of the people also
rises, they would be able to afford more products from Amazon so they will buy them shifting the
demand

A Brief Note On Ann Landers, An American Advice Columnist...
Ann Landers, was an American advice columnist and eventually a nation wide media celebrity. A 1978
World Almanac Survey named her the most influential woman in the United States. She had once
mentioned that Television has proved that people will look at anything rather than each other. It means
that people would rather look that a screen than facing towards to people. This reminds me of a time in
my life when I was alone in both freshman and sophomore years. There were any times when I have
nowhere to go for lunch. No one really talked to me. It was really dreadful for me. As the years go by I
eventually improve my interaction significantly. Now to the present day, I know why I was like that.
Sense I had some experience with social media and how I see my older cousins change over the time.
It turned out that I was antisocial, I eventually notice that I don t really open up. I don t really got out
of my comfort zone. That was my problem in school, but in my older cousins case. It was going the
opposite direction, on what I have notice, we all have different interpretations on how we view certain
things, and I think thats is the major cause on why we don t have that type of connection, with each
other. But what doesn t make sense to me is that we are family we should be able to communicate with
each other without judging our differences, but that was just my own perspective on what family
should be. Anyway, I will do my best to find a way to get to know my cousins once

Prince Rogers Nelson, the artist known as Prince who Thursday became formerly with a devastating

Comida Con Causa Research Paper
May 29, 2018
Fulgencio Batista was president of Cuba from 1940 to 1944. During his time in office he expanded the
educational system, sponsored a huge program of public works, and brought up the growth of the
economy (Britannica). In 1952 he ran for president again but this time put together a coup because he
believed he wouldn t win. The coup overthrew the current president, Carlos Prio Socarras, and made
Batista dictator. As Fulgencio Batista gained more power he became more corrupt, forgetting his roots,
and negatively impacting the poor of Cuba.
Batista was born into a life of poverty on January 16, 1901 (Rutgers). He was the son Belisario Batista
Palermo, a sugar cane cutter and Carmela Zaldivar Gonzalez, a stay at home mom. He grew up with
three younger brothers, Francisco, Hermelindo, and Juan Batista in Banes, a small city in the Holguin

A Day Keeps The Cancer Away
Death. It s probably one of the things we are most afraid of. We re scared of losing our loved ones. We
re scared of leaving the ones we care most about alone. Unfortunately, death isn t something that we
can control. However, we can prolong it for as much as possible. We all know the saying, An apple a
day keeps the doctor away , but what if I said, Less bacon a day keeps the cancer away . If you aren t
up to date, author, Jeffrey Kluger, has recently released an article in TIME Magazine that ultimately
talks about how bacon and other meats could be held responsible for causing cancer, specifically
colorectal cancer (2015). America s favorite breakfast food, bacon, seems to be a prime suspect in this
case. However, bacon isn t alone in this. Hot dogs and other red meats are under suspicion as well. So
what can we do? Well, we could go cold turkey, but that doesn t solve anything. Instead, we need to be
smarter about the decisions we make when eating our meat, in order for us to live a healthier lifestyle.
Although I m in no position to tell you what you should do and shouldn t do, that doesn t mean I can t
give you a couple of tips. Before going into detail about what tips I can give you, first let s understand
why we should be smarter about the meat we eat. According to Kluger, In the case of processed meats,
the biggest risks are sodium nitrates, which are added to foods principally as preservatives. Once they

Trebuchet History
The first records of counterweight trebuchets began appearing in the 12th century. Proving to be an
excellent siege weapon, many militaries began using this. Though stone throwing artillery had been
employed by both the Greeks and Romans, they were usually powered by torsion or tension; the
trebuchet was the first war machine to use gravity and leverage to fire projectiles. They were used
widely during the Crusades, in which the European militaries, especially the French, used the
trebuchet to lay siege to Muslim cities in the hopes of capturing the holy land.
The word trebuchet comes from the Middle French verb trebuch which means tumble or fall over,
which was the intent of what the throwing arm did when it was released. The average mass of
projectiles used in medieval times were around 50 100 kilograms, with a range of about 300 metres.
They were extremely effective against castle walls; in fact, they were so effective that architects began
to design new castles to be able to withstand the raw power and force of the trebuchet. Sometimes,
corpses and carcasses were launched with trebuchets over castle walls as an early form of biological
warfare. For example, in 1422 during the Hussite Wars, Prince Korybut shot men and manure into
Karlstejn Castle and was apparently successful in spreading disease within the walls. ... Show more

Specific Purpose To inform my audience about hybrid vehicles.
Central Idea Hybrid car history and different platforms of hybrid vehicles.
Introduction
I. A hybrid car is a vehicle with more than one power source such as a small internal combustion
engine and an electric motor.
II. Most hybrids only use gasoline when needed. The electric motor, powered by a stack of
rechargeable batteries, is the primary workhorse for propulsion under low speed driving.
III. When you think of a hybrid vehicle, you may find yourself thinking Toyota Prius. 1. Toyota Prius
was the first mass produced hybrid vehicle.

1. A Mild Parallel hybrid vehicle has an internal combustion engine that is equipped with an electric
motor, both in parallel configuration, meaning they both provide propulsion to move the vehicle
forward. This configuration allows the gasoline engine to be shut off while coasting, braking or being
at a complete stop yet will restart with minimal delay.
A. Some mild hybrids will also be equipped with regenerative braking that will essentially charge the
battery packs under braking.
B. Mild hybrids are not capable of exclusively operating on the Electric motor.
2. A Series hybrid platform, sometimes referred to as range extending electric vehicles (REEV)
incorporate a configuration by design to be operated mostly by the battery, but will have an ICE
(Internal Combustion Engine) to recharge the battery when enduring a long drive.
B. Series hybrid s only have electric motors to provide propulsion while maintaining an exceptionally
high power to weight ratio providing enough torque over a broad range of speeds.
C. The gasoline engine drives an electric generator which charges the battery bank at which point the
electric motor use the power from the battery bank to drive the vehicle.

Moss Physcomitrella Patens Lab Report
Introduction The moss Physcomitrella patens is an alluring model system for plant biology and
functional genome analysis. It shares numerous biological features with higher plants (vascular plants)
however it also has the exceptional advantage of an efficient homologous recombination system for its
nuclear DNA. This permits exact genetic manipulations and targeted knockouts to study gene
function, an approach due to low frequency of targeted recombination events is not routinely
conceivable in any higher plants. (1) One of the reasons to study the biology of P. patens, lies in the
key position of mosses in plant evolution and the associated gain of specific features connecting the

Epaphroditus had also desired to return to Philippi but was sick and dying. The Lord healed

economy
Free trade is the unrestricted purchase and sale of goods and services between countries without the
imposition of protection such as tariffs and quotas. This enables economies to focus on their core
competitive advantage(s), thereby maximizing economic output and fostering income growth for their
citizens. Australian exports rose from $66.6 billion in 1990 91 to $300.4 billion in 2012 13, with an
average growth in export volumes of 4.6 per cent per annum since 1990 91. This is reflective of
Australia s proactive actions to phase out protection since the 1970s. The major effects of domestic
and global free trade and protection policies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, there has been poor progress in reducing agricultural protection in recent years. In fact,
if global trade liberalisation was achieved by the WTO s Doha Round, it could have boosted Australia
s agricultural exports by US$9 billion by 2020; thus displaying how highly protectionist economies
and trade blocs adversely affect the Australian economy.
Since Australia s first free trade agreement (FTA) with New Zealand in 1983, Bilateral and
Multilateral FTA s have been a great advantage and focus in securing economic prosperity for
Australia. Australia s two way trade in goods and services was A$616 bn in 2012. Australia has seven
FTAs currently in force with New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, US, Chile, ASEAN (with New
Zealand) and Malaysia. Together, these countries account for 28% of Australia s total trade, which
displays the great benefit of bilateral FTAs to the Australian economy. Additionally, there are four
bilateral FTA negotiations currently in place, two of which are substantial trading partners; China,
being Australia s largest export market (A$78.7 bn) and Japan, being Australia s second largest export
market (A$49.8 bn). The Japanese Free Trade Agreement has been negotiated, and will be a great
benefit to the Australian economy, especially the agricultural sector, for example tariffs on beef

The Purpose Of The Cash Flow Statement
There is an old saying by Earl Wilson (2015) that states Today, there are three kinds of people: the
haves, the have nots, and the have not paid for what they haves (p. 1). This saying also applies to
businesses, and investors will try to identify which category a company falls in as they conduct their
research. Investors want to know they are committing their money to an organization that can
effectively manage its cash. Cash is the fuel within every organization. It is extremely important for
every executive, manager, and investor to understand the cash flow battle rhythm within their
organization by utilizing the statement of cash flow. Analyzing the statement of cash flow, will enable
investors to determine if a company is effective at managing their finances.
Purpose of the Cash Flow Statement
Cash inflow and outflow is a litmus test of a company s performance during a specific time frame.
Cash is the lifeline of the company and the availability or lack of cash is a clear indication of a
successful or failing business for most financial analysts, investors and company management. The
statement of cash flow is the means used by many to view the cash movement within an organization.
According to Epstein (2014), The purpose of the statement of cash flows is to determine how cash
flowed into and out of the company during a certain period of time (p.156). This management tool can
assist executives, financial managers and stock holders identify the organization s

Treatment And Treatment Of Dialysis Treatment
Under normal conditions, your kidneys are responsible for multiple functions such as cleaning blood,
producing hormones, balancing electrolytes, and maintaining blood pressure in the body. When the
kidneys fail, blood pressure will rise, wastes/toxins will remain in the body s circulation, and the body
will retain excess water which can lead to inadequate production of red blood cells (Source 6). These
symptoms of kidney failure are a medical emergency and call for intervention such as a kidney
transplant. The wait for a kidney can be lengthy; therefore a process known as dialysis can be a life
sustaining measure until a suitable donor is matched. Dialysis has been found to temporarily alleviate
the condition, but only for an average ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the Dialysis filters the blood, the clean blood is returned to the patient through another tube that
s injected into the patient (Picture A). Even though this procedure is done under supervision in the
security of a hospital and does a more than adequate job of performing the functions of a normal
kidney, there are some disadvantages. For one, the dialysis process is a very strict and time
consuming. The schedule requires treatment 3 times a week for 4 5 hours (Source 6). This time
commitment will most likely to be very inconvenient and make the previous life style of the patient
difficult. Secondly, if proper cleansing routines are not followed, it is also possible for the patient to
receive an infection. A third disadvantage is the constant insertion of needles into the patient which
can not only cause infection/irritation if the needles are unsterile, but can lead to stress for the patient
if they have a fear of them. Another disadvantage is that patients often report increased itchy skin, of
which there has yet to be found a soothing remedy. A fifth disadvantage is that some patients on
dialysis establishing insomnia/restless leg syndrome, which can lead to sleep apnea, headache,
depression, and decreased alertness (Source 2). However, unlike the itchy skin, the symptom of
insomnia has multiple effective treatments. A final disadvantage of hemodialysis is a

10 Case Study Analysis
Generally, there are four strategic approaches for case study analysis as identified by (Yin, 2014),
namely, theoretical proposition reliance, ground up data strategy, descriptive and plausible rival

theoretical position of the research and study objectives (Gray, 2014; Yin, 2014). On the other hand,
different analytical methods can be combine with analytical strategies in qualitative studies analysis

To What Extent Does Patrick Suskind Develop Grenouille s...
Throughout the novel Perfume by Patrick Suskind, there is an obvious use of literary devices used to
describe the scents which Grenouille, the protagonist, smells, the way in which Grenouille smells
aromas, as this is different to the average persons scent capacity, and the relevance of the aroma, as he
emphasizes those smells which have an impact in the book through a more vivid and specific
explanation. This will be a comparison of two passages for the novel, one from the beginning of
Grenouille s life, and one from the end, in order to obtain a comparison in the description of scents
through the novel. Suskind uses devices such as metaphors, italics, and juxtaposition, to name a few,

The diction used in the first text is not one of sophistication; as a child would be have speech that was
not yet fully developed. This is shown through the first two sentences of the description on the people
and laces affected by this smell, as it is a list of common people and places rather than a detailed
explanation and specific location. The language in this extract continues to develop into more
developed thought such as when Suskind explains there is no limitation to the scent. This explanation
as to the limitation of the stench is used not only to compare the horrific smell of Paris, but also to
emphasis the severity of this smell as even the King himself stank . This explanation as to the severity
of the smell is seemingly juvenile compared with that in the second text, as the first text simply says
what the smell is not limited to and creates a list of these things, while the second text goes on to
describe the reactions to this smell, this is more developed as it shows the influence of the scent
Grenouille has created, and the influence it creates on society. The first extract, although not as
developed as the second, gradually becomes slightly more mature through the paragraph, symbolizing
the growth of Grenouille through his introduction to Paris through the use of more

In an attempt to control the influx of illegal immigrants that enter the country, the U.S. Customs and
Border Protection (CBP) and the National Guard (NG) were partnered to support Operation Jump

the states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas and the Department of Defense (DOD)

Similar to the PCA of 1873, DOD Directive 5525.5 prohibits the following forms of assistance: (1)
interdiction of a vehicle, vessel, aircraft, or other similar activity; (2) a search or seizure; (3) an arrest,
apprehension, stop and frisk, or similar activity; and (4) use of military personnel in the pursuit of
individuals, or as undercover agents, informants, investigators, or interrogators (Mason, 2013, p. 3).
Thus, the National Guard devoted the majority of resources to manning observation posts, flying alert
aircraft, building roads, fences, and vehicle barricades, and fulfilling administrative functions (i.e.,
desk duties) (Holstege, 2008). Other forms of regulation include the regional rules for the use of force
(RUF) included in the OJS memorandum of agreement, which details the level of force authorized,
arming orders, and weapon limitations (MOA, 2006). A specification in JP 3 28 states National

bringing out the best in the employees that I led, while maintaining high ethical standards. My
employees actively sought my guidance for professional development, as well as personal life choices.
Often, they relied on me as a reliable, caring, resource for them to achieve personal and individual
goals. Although my professional success was well documented, I was no longer achieving the
meaningful fulfillment I once experienced in my career. The industry had taken a shift in focus that
minimized the opportunity to develop employees in favor of reducing costs by utilizing part time staff

in that I felt compelled to identify what was lacking in my professional life leading me to act on filling
that void. In the end, the industry s shift prompted a life changing event for me, to pursue a career in
social services, providing me with the opportunity to assist the individual in a more in depth,
purposeful manner. As I progressed through my education, it became clear that

The Avesta tells how their supreme god named Ahura Mazda, also know as Ormazd, creates the Earth,
trees, plants, animals and mankind in the course of six periods with each period lasting 3,000 years. In
the beginning, nothing else existed except for Ahura Mazda who lives in Endless Light.
Most of the modern biblical scholars believe that there are clearly two versions of the creation story
that exist in the chapters of Genesis 1 through 3 in the Old Testament. These versions appear to come
from three different authors or groups of authors called the Jahwist source, the Priestly sources and the
Redactor source. Written by the Priestly source, around 450BC, the first version begins in Genesis 1:1
31 and ends in Genesis 2:1 3. Next, the Jahwist source writes the second version in Genesis 2:4 25,
around 950BC, with additional verses written, around 750 to 400BC, by the Redactor source. With all
of these dates in mind, it would then appear that the first version in Genesis 1 was written at a later
date than Genesis 2 resulting with the version from Genesis 2 being the first version. Also, notice the
differences between the 2 versions such as in Genesis 1 where the focus is on the entire universe,
whereas, in Genesis 2 the focus is on the creation of man and his environment.

Love Is Passion, Bravery, And Bliss
Love is passion, bravery, and bliss. Love is blindness, slavery, and psychosis. Love has caused some

In his drunken stupor Alcibiades is flustered over the presence of Socrates, who he deeply, erotically
loves, and although taken aback agrees to give his own account of eros. However, while all the other
encomia have been praising love from a place of logic and sobriety, Alcibiades bases his account off
of passion and drunkenness, even prefacing with, at worst, there will be mistakes in my speech, not
lies (214e). Now the master of ceremonies, Alcibiades begins his speech in praise of Socrates and
compares him to mythical figures who could come close to the gods and reveal some truths through
their art. Alcibiades continues with a confession of his love for Socrates. However, this is not the
ideal, Apollonian form of love that Socrates speaks of. This is a fiery, Dionysian love that causes
Alcibiades to feel deep passion and fervor. Throughout his account, Alcibiades goes back and forth
from praising Socrates to spurning him, from speaking respectfully to speaking disdainfully, from
loving him to hating him. At times, Alcibiades erotic passion gives him great insight into the higher
forms of love mentioned earlier, allowing him to free himself momentarily from the confines of
humanity. Other times, Alcibiades love cause him to feel restrained and helpless, so much so that he
proclaims, ah, no one else has ever known the real meaning of slavery! (219e).

The Limits of Identification
The Limits of Identification
Identities are prescriptive representations of every society s members themselves and of their
relationship to each other. The limits of identification , thus divide social prescription of identity into
two categories, prescriptive accounts of members themselves which is their personal identities, and
behavioral prescriptions for the proper enactment of these identities which is society s norms or
behavioral norms that require individual s to be identified and act in certain ways. In the three
passages, Selections from reading Lolita in Tehran, by Azar Nafisi, On Becoming an Arab, by Leila
Ahmed; Selections from Losing Matt Sheppard, by Beth Loffreda, the limits of identification are
introduced based on gender, race, and sexuality as main factors used to classify the characters in the
readings and pose their identity which led to prejudice, discrimination, and limit their lives based on
general stereotypes. Limits of identification, therefore are general ideas used to distinguish individuals
who are different in some ways from the rest of society, because they belong to a certain gender, race,
or act in certain ways that is different from the set of social norms. According to Ahmed, Nafisi, and
Matt s life experience, hence, the potential limits of identification , are their societies norms and
beliefs that are reinforced on them. These norms and beliefs allow every society and every individual

lie. Even if that was enough to condemn the dude in guilt, the great and terrible thing about justice in
America is that it is not administered by robots; justice without mercy is cruelty. Without considering
the context of Clinton s lie, without

Domination Metaphor And The Boeing Case
Introduction The purpose of this memo is to explain the domination metaphor and the Boeing case
while relating the two and providing a recommendation for moving forward. The domination
metaphor is important to discuss because it explores the idea that some organizations are instruments
of domination that impose their will on others to continue their advancement through exploitation. I
will be discussing the key points of the domination metaphor, the Boeing case and the necessary OD
interventions that address the case in relation to the metaphor. Domination Metaphor: The organism
metaphor views organizations as instruments of domination. Morgan says that organizations often
have a negative impact on our world (Morgan, 2006, p. 293). The idea of looking at organizations as
instruments of domination brings attention to issues such as environmental and social responsibilities
of organizations. The metaphor brings up environmental issues by accusing organizations of poisoning
the general public through food additives and the pollution of our environment, including our water
system. Max Weber identified three types of social domination. People can be dominated through
charisma, through tradition (custom), and through rational legal (rules and laws). (Morgan, 2006, p.
291) Within this metaphor, profits are always considered over people while people are exploited or
used to better the modern slave driver efficiency (Morgan, 2006, p. 296). This metaphor attempts to

  • 2. Vivian In Pretty Woman In Garry Marshall s Pretty Woman, Vivian Ward s transformation from a red light district prostitute to the perfect woman illustrates traits the movie argues make an ideal woman. The movie highlights Vivian s acquisition of refined manners, taste, and outward appearance in addition to her individuality and sense of priority to exemplify these traits as characteristic of the ideal woman. One can see Vivian already has some traits that make her an ideal woman even before she meets Edward. At the beginning of the movie, instead of partying and doing drugs with her roommate, Kit De Luca, Vivian prioritizes paying the month s rent even though it is not even her apartment. Similarly, in the penthouse bathroom, Edward catches Vivian with what he believes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Edward s lawyer, Philip, invites himself into the penthouse and offers Vivian a drink, she politely declines. If one were to think back to the beginning of the movie, when Edward first invites Vivian into the penthouse, she was more than happy to have a drink, while Edward declined. Similarly, when Philip makes sexual advances on her, Vivian refuses even if he were to pay her, while she was all too happy to sell her services out on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Importance Of Women Sports In Sports Michael Spann Michelle Lee ENC1101 June 23, 2017 SHOULD MALE PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES BE PAID MORE THAT FEMALE ATHLETES? Toady sports is viewed by fans all around the world rather it being basketball, football, or baseball. Sports has become more of a gender controversial topic than simply enjoying the excitement of the players doing what they love to do so well. Women athletes are generally under paid compared to the men s salaries in various sports do to the lack of viewers. Women sports doesn t generate enough revenue, so the leagues can t afford to pay the women as much as the men in their contracts. Women sports are important to the world and the fans and supporters that watch and cheer alongside the players. However due to the lack of viewers, women sports are not generating enough money to allow bigger contracts for women athletes. Women sports are loved by its fans and supporters; however, most sports fans consider women sports to be step down from the excitement of watching the men engage in the game that they are playing. For instance take the US Women s Soccer team, compared to the men s world cup the women tournament only generated 15 million dollars for the entire series. On the other side, the US Men s Soccer team World Cup generated a whopping 576 million dollars. The fans that follow sports doesn t think negative about women sports they just ... • 4. Analysis Of Dulce Et Decorum Est By Wilfred Owen Wilfred Owen, a British war poet, used multiple poetic devices to enhance and explore the futility of war within Dulce et Decorum Est . Dulce et Decorum Est the first segment of a Latin saying Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori , translates to It is sweet and right collectively translating to It is sweet and right to die for your country . The theme within Owen s poem contests this saying, through the implementation of irony. The utilisation of imagery effectively contradicts the heroic perception of war, subsequently contradicting the title s translation. Owen s implementation of similes enables relatability for the audience, ultimately generating a similar vivid image for every audience. The use of metaphors allows a greater understanding ... • 5. Culture Of The Philippines Essay THE HISTORY AND STABILITY OF THE PHILIPPINES A nation s culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people (Ghandi, Mahatma 2017). For about the first time this lush land was discovered, the Filipinos have always been proud of their culture, their religion, customs and beliefs. A part of their culture is transmitted through their various languages, material objects, rituals, institution, and art from one generation to the next. They, like any other country had its ups and downs with things they re not so proud of like their stability financially and with their government. But despite that, the Philippines have more to offer than just their land and what the land has to offer other countries for they literally are still fighting their own wars within themselves and the country is still going through turmoil then and now. In 1521, a Portuguese explorer named Ferdinand Magellan was discovering lands for Spain and came across a body of islands which stretched across the seas, which became known as the Philippines; officially known as the Republic of the Philippines (Lambert, Tim). Since Magellan was working in Spain at that time, He was able to claim the island for Spain. But a few months later, Magellan was killed during a tribal warfare against the Lapu Lapu s Army on the Mactan Island. Because of that, the Spaniard did not gain a base in the Philippines until Miguel Lopez de Legazpi led an expedition and built a fort in Cebu which later opened up the Spaniards to ... My dad had grabbed us by the scruff of our necks and pulled us in close with tears in his eyes, whispering Were going to watch Italy win the fucking World Cup! and amidst the 90,000 loyal german fans around us I wondered if that was the first time I ever heard him swear. Rather then jumping around and celebrating, we embraced in a truly passionate hug and I could feel the sweat on the back of his jersey, as if he had just fought for two hours. We watched Italy battle Germany for 118 minutes before Fabio Grosso curled a left footer home and broke the deadlock. My father purchased tickets to two games six months in advance of the biggest soccer tournament in the world, Italy versus Czech Republic, and the World Cup final. On July 5th, 2006 at a fan fest in Munich, my brother, father and I sported our team Italy jerseys and cheered as our team conquered the German squad on their own soil. I remember going through the ticket gates of Olympiastadion, with a rapidly beating heart, praying to God that our tickets were real, and that we would be allowed in the gates. The sun was fast descending as we made our way to our seats and awaited kickoff. Seven minutes in, the french side struck first after Zenidene Zidane converted a penalty kick, which was cheaply awarded after Florent Malouda dove in the box, appealing to the referee with his arms flailing around, despite being in the second tier, we could see there was no contact on the apparent foul. • 8. The Thing In The Apartment By John William Ross Since the first sound film in 1927, filmmakers employed tools to create sound effects and complete the illusion (Cavalcanti, 1939). The use of sound became essential to the quality of films, particularly in fiction where the audience seeks entertainment and thrill. Indeed, Rockett (1982) notes that music, background noises and sounds effects are the elements creating a particular mood or atmosphere. This theory is notably applicable to the horror genre, as its specificity is to incite fear and play on the viewer s nerves. According to Rockett, horror is indeed primarily a sound based medium (1982). Horror films sounds play with emotions, for instance with abrupt shifts up and down in pitch. As Gron states, these sound contrasts function as priming mechanisms , playing with spectators expectations of the scare (2013). These theories lead to the importance of recognising what makes an efficient sound track to frighten the audience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 9. The American Paragraph By John Barry Analysis There are so many impressive places in New York City, but if I really want to choose a most favorable landscape in this city. That s Central Park. In this city where everything is so fast paced and it seem everyone have pressures on their business and the stress of their daily life, but Central Park just like a beautiful and picturesque oasis in the middle of this city where people can go to relax, running, ice skate, jog and even though you can paint or sketch, lay on the chair to take a nap in the cloudy afternoon. For my personal experience, I like to take a walk in the central park when I m free. Every time I have been to Central Park, it gives a comfortable and easy atmosphere around me. • 11. The American Company Called Amazon 1) Introduction In order to carry out this research, I have chosen the American company called Amazon. It is a well known, web based international retailer which is based in Seattle, Washington. 2) Product Description Amazon started out as a simple web auctions based service in kind to eBay, but failed to cut into the market share. The company then became a marketplace for fixed price goods much like an online retail website with a small collection of goods for sale. Over time it started to develop its product line and range by supplying DVDs, CDs, software, apparel, beauty products, groceries, health care products, kitchen supplies, jewelry, musical instruments and other items (Mudambi and Schuff, 2010). The website was able to provide an online platform to these products. As the company matured, it expanded its retail services and then also developed delivery services of its products to people s doorsteps at the prescribed time. Demand and Future Outlook The basic nature of the demand curve will always be negatively sloped as people would be willing to demand less at higher prices and higher at lower prices. The factors which can affect the demand curve and cause it to shift for Amazon will include number of buyers. As buyers in the market increase, the curve will shift outwards as more people will be willing to buy at the same price. As the income of the people also rises, they would be able to afford more products from Amazon so they will buy them shifting the demand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It means that people would rather look that a screen than facing towards to people. This reminds me of a time in my life when I was alone in both freshman and sophomore years. There were any times when I have nowhere to go for lunch. No one really talked to me. It was really dreadful for me. As the years go by I eventually improve my interaction significantly. Now to the present day, I know why I was like that. Sense I had some experience with social media and how I see my older cousins change over the time. It turned out that I was antisocial, I eventually notice that I don t really open up. I don t really got out of my comfort zone. That was my problem in school, but in my older cousins case. It was going the opposite direction, on what I have notice, we all have different interpretations on how we view certain things, and I think thats is the major cause on why we don t have that type of connection, with each other. But what doesn t make sense to me is that we are family we should be able to communicate with each other without judging our differences, but that was just my own perspective on what family should be. We all know the saying, An apple a day keeps the doctor away , but what if I said, Less bacon a day keeps the cancer away . If you aren t up to date, author, Jeffrey Kluger, has recently released an article in TIME Magazine that ultimately talks about how bacon and other meats could be held responsible for causing cancer, specifically colorectal cancer (2015). Though stone throwing artillery had been employed by both the Greeks and Romans, they were usually powered by torsion or tension; the trebuchet was the first war machine to use gravity and leverage to fire projectiles. They were used widely during the Crusades, in which the European militaries, especially the French, used the trebuchet to lay siege to Muslim cities in the hopes of capturing the holy land. The word trebuchet comes from the Middle French verb trebuch which means tumble or fall over, which was the intent of what the throwing arm did when it was released. The average mass of projectiles used in medieval times were around 50 100 kilograms, with a range of about 300 metres. They were extremely effective against castle walls; in fact, they were so effective that architects began to design new castles to be able to withstand the raw power and force of the trebuchet. Sometimes, corpses and carcasses were launched with trebuchets over castle walls as an early form of biological warfare. Most of the modern biblical scholars believe that there are clearly two versions of the creation story that exist in the chapters of Genesis 1 through 3 in the Old Testament. These versions appear to come from three different authors or groups of authors called the Jahwist source, the Priestly sources and the Redactor source. Written by the Priestly source, around 450BC, the first version begins in Genesis 1:1 31 and ends in Genesis 2:1 3. Next, the Jahwist source writes the second version in Genesis 2:4 25, around 950BC, with additional verses written, around 750 to 400BC, by the Redactor source. With all of these dates in mind, it would then appear that the first version in Genesis 1 was written at a later date than Genesis 2 resulting with the version from Genesis 2 being the first version. Also, notice the differences between the 2 versions such as in Genesis 1 where the focus is on the entire universe, whereas, in Genesis 2 the focus is on the creation of man and his environment. ... • 33. Rudolf Lab The Theorist, The Theory And The Context Part 1: The theorist, The Theory and The Context Rudolf Laban, a brilliant acting theorist, inspires many individuals, groups of actors and performers all over the world to this day. His progressive acting theories mold an individual into a character effortlessly and effectively. Although his ideas were not always appreciated, his critics only pushed him to better his techniques. Rudolf Laban was born on December 15th, 1879, in Bratislava, which used to be part of the Austro Hungarian Empire. His Father, a highly decorated Officer in the Army, hoped that Rudolf would follow in his footsteps; however, Rudolf found himself intrigued with the complexity of the arts. Furthermore, Rudolf Laban s theories focus primarily on movement. His movements are specific to what the actor intends on portraying. Not only so, but the movement of the actor would in turn directly reflect the character s personality. He believed every movement performed displayed a greater purpose to internally reflect on one s character. Thus, His movement theories help an actor to bring out the individuality of each character portrayed in a performance or dance. Part 2: Practical Explorations and Development of the Solo Theatre Piece For this solo piece, I chose to incorporate Laban s theories into an interpretive dance. I display, not two different characters movements, but one character s movements as he/she develops, learns, and grows throughout his/her lifetime. To do so, I will use shadows in the background to interact with the character in order to allow the audience to better comprehend my actions and movements throughout the song. As the actor, I conform to the story line and the character I am portraying by my movements and interactions with the shadows projected onto the backdrop of the stage. As I prepared for this performance, I found it difficult to incorporate the movement patterns of two characters, due to the fact that it is specifically a solo piece rather than a duet or ... After collection of samples, the sites were evaluated for any bone loss and evaluation of any healthy remain in some patients. The diseased patients were matched with AA positive and healthy patients were matched with AA negative. The time frame for this study was to follow the patients every 6 months and have a new study every 3 months to obtain more clinical samples. A healthy patient would have 5 mm pockets or less while a diseased patient would have radiographic evidence of bone loss plus a shadow showing an interproximal bone loss. Selection visit was to evaluate 2500 children (11 14 years of age) and collect the BECs and saliva for AA carriage assessment (in classroom) and assessment of host factors (for the lab). During the screening visit, 250 AA positive and 250 AA negative adolescents were determined to see if they were periodontally healthy; this included a collection of BECs (bacteria) and saliva (host). For the follow up visits during the longitudinal phase, there was 170 AA positive and 210 AA negative (qualified as healthy). • 38. Love Is Passion, Bravery, And Bliss Love is passion, bravery, and bliss. Love is blindness, slavery, and psychosis. Love has caused some of my fondest memories, whether it be the times simply speaking my truest thoughts to my mother or lying in bed with a partner saying nothing yet still being able to communicate my most sincere self in silence. Yet love has also compelled me to do, in my opinion, my most heinous acts, whether that be lying to my family about my religious beliefs in order to save them pain or giving in to lust so much that my own sexual desires meant more than my partner s emotional needs. While anyone may sit and theorize what the true meaning or purpose of love is, conceptually love is a confusing concept that proves to be challenging for even Socrates to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his drunken stupor Alcibiades is flustered over the presence of Socrates, who he deeply, erotically loves, and although taken aback agrees to give his own account of eros. However, while all the other encomia have been praising love from a place of logic and sobriety, Alcibiades bases his account off of passion and drunkenness, even prefacing with, at worst, there will be mistakes in my speech, not lies (214e). Now the master of ceremonies, Alcibiades begins his speech in praise of Socrates and compares him to mythical figures who could come close to the gods and reveal some truths through their art. Alcibiades continues with a confession of his love for Socrates. However, this is not the ideal, Apollonian form of love that Socrates speaks of. This is a fiery, Dionysian love that causes Alcibiades to feel deep passion and fervor. Throughout his account, Alcibiades goes back and forth from praising Socrates to spurning him, from speaking respectfully to speaking disdainfully, from loving him to hating him. At times, Alcibiades erotic passion gives him great insight into the higher forms of love mentioned earlier, allowing him to free himself momentarily from the confines of humanity. Other times, Alcibiades love cause him to feel restrained and helpless, so much so that he proclaims, ah, no one else has ever known the real meaning of slavery! (219e). ... • 39. The Limits of Identification The Limits of Identification Identities are prescriptive representations of every society s members themselves and of their relationship to each other. The limits of identification , thus divide social prescription of identity into two categories, prescriptive accounts of members themselves which is their personal identities, and behavioral prescriptions for the proper enactment of these identities which is society s norms or behavioral norms that require individual s to be identified and act in certain ways. In the three passages, Selections from reading Lolita in Tehran, by Azar Nafisi, On Becoming an Arab, by Leila Ahmed; Selections from Losing Matt Sheppard, by Beth Loffreda, the limits of identification are introduced based on gender, race, and sexuality as main factors used to classify the characters in the readings and pose their identity which led to prejudice, discrimination, and limit their lives based on general stereotypes. Limits of identification, therefore are general ideas used to distinguish individuals who are different in some ways from the rest of society, because they belong to a certain gender, race, or act in certain ways that is different from the set of social norms. According to Ahmed, Nafisi, and Matt s life experience, hence, the potential limits of identification , are their societies norms and beliefs that are reinforced on them. These norms and beliefs allow every society and every individual to marginalize these characters based ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mr. Clinton lied under oath about his affair with Monica Lewinsky, but that was not the grounds for impeachment. So, was Bill Clinton s impeachment justified? No. There cannot have been an obstruction of justice if the per suite of truth in this case was not itself a just pursuit. You were lied to, yes by the President, who had an understandable and very personal reason to lie. Even if that was enough to condemn the dude in guilt, the great and terrible thing about justice in America is that it is not administered by robots; justice without mercy is cruelty. • 41. Domination Metaphor And The Boeing Case Introduction The purpose of this memo is to explain the domination metaphor and the Boeing case while relating the two and providing a recommendation for moving forward. The domination metaphor is important to discuss because it explores the idea that some organizations are instruments of domination that impose their will on others to continue their advancement through exploitation. I will be discussing the key points of the domination metaphor, the Boeing case and the necessary OD interventions that address the case in relation to the metaphor. Domination Metaphor: The organism metaphor views organizations as instruments of domination. Morgan says that organizations often have a negative impact on our world (Morgan, 2006, p. 293). The idea of looking at organizations as instruments of domination brings attention to issues such as environmental and social responsibilities of organizations. The metaphor brings up environmental issues by accusing organizations of poisoning the general public through food additives and the pollution of our environment, including our water system. Max Weber identified three types of social domination. People can be dominated through charisma, through tradition (custom), and through rational legal (rules and laws). (Morgan, 2006, p. 291) Within this metaphor, profits are always considered over people while people are exploited or used to better the modern slave driver efficiency (Morgan, 2006, p. 296). This metaphor attempts to get us to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
