ABSTRACT Social change within the western context has redefined the concepts of adulthood and
house formation . Despite an increasing decline in marriage between the ages of 20 and 29, young
individuals continue to leave their parental homes. The previous literature identifies both social and
economic motivations what continues to be this defining moment of independence. This research
project attempts to demonstrate the reasons for which young adults seeking such independence engage
in share housing.
Background
Share housing has become increasingly popular since the mid twentieth century (Goldsheider
DaVanzo 1989). Once assumed to be a product of economic constraint, particularly among students,
share house living has since become a representation of modern adulthood. Historically, marriage was
the most powerful motivator for young adults, particularly women, to leave their parental home
(Pooley and Turnbull 1997). Between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries, the transition to
adulthood was defined by, and adult identity rooted in, the attainment of spousal status with the

The overarching enquiries of this research seek to determine: What age do young adults move into
share houses? Was the move into a share house voluntary or involuntary? Are economic
considerations apparent in the choice to join a share house? To what degree do social considerations
influence their choice? How is independence impacted by living in a share house? Researching these
questions will provide insight into the changing attitudes towards the traditional forms of household
and transition to adulthood, as well as how young adults perceive expectations of

Motivation And Theory Of Motivation
It is suggested by psychologists that motivation can be understood as a technique that works as a
model that starts and maintains behaviours. The reason we all act or do something is caused by
motivation; it is related to the emotions, biology and the social factors that influence behaviour. It is
usually a term used to explain why an individual will do something, the reasons behind that action.
Moreover, The term motivation refers to factors that activate, direct, and sustain goal directed
behaviour motives are the whys of behaviour (Nevid, 2013).
This coursework will explain what motivation is, what the psychological theories are and how is that
crucial in explaining people s behaviour at the work place. Firstly, an in depth explanation of what is
motivation will be written, then the arguments for and against of the process theories of motivation.
Finally, descriptions on how useful these theories are to predict behaviour in companies. There are
four factors of motivation; that are intrinsic motivation, it incorporates following: goal, tool, situation
and temperament. Goal is related to attitude and behaviour. Tool, on the other hand, is what is used to
reach that goal. Situations are the external environment and the position you find yourself into. Finally
Temperament is your state (internally).
Pakdel (2013), from the twentieth century specialists started to evaluate other reasons for differences

Why I Started Working With Dontae
When I started working with Dontae I tried to be open minded and not interact with him with theories
floating around in my mind. I was taught in my undergraduate career that conversations with your
clients should feel natural and because I was nervous to showcase my abilities at a new placement I
did not want say the wrong thing and to ruin my ability to make a deep connection with Dontae later.
In addition I considered that Dontae may not be his true self for at least a week because he would be
new to the program and not know any or many of the other residents. I decided during the initial
intake that although I had read all the faxed documents and psychiatric evaluations on Dontae that I
would speak to him and determine for myself what was going on for him.
During Dontae s initial week at MTR I observed Dontae s interactions with others and assessed his
coping skills. I introjected myself into what he was doing to ensure that he adjusted well to MTR staff
and residents. I began to formulate some thoughts as to what was happening for Dontae but tried to
keep an open mind about him as a person. Moreover during the course of my work with Dontae I
began by making sure that I aligned myself with Dontae and made sure that he understood that I was
here to help him rather than hurt him. I made sure that Dontae felt like I cared about him and that he
understood that his all around wellbeing is a priority for me. My purpose for aligning myself with

The exploration of human memory will unlock the past and future. Through the exploitation of human
memory man condemn itself to an apocalyptic world. The manipulation of the human memory is key
to man s control over the human mind. Memory can divide what humans see and what humans can
