Mommy Alternate Ending
Mommy, may I hear a story please? The sky is still bright, and nobody goes to sleep except me!
Oh my dear Kevin, you should know that after your father left us. The only things I could do was
make sure you grow up safe.
Mommy, why did my father leave us.
He wasn t a good husband.....
Mommy, please don t cry. I see the tears.
Dear Kevin , said mom, I am not crying, it is just the sand in my eyes. Maybe, it is really too early
though. But, I can t let your go outside because it can be very unsafe and many things can hurt you.

Writing An Assignment On The Generating Ideas
Good afternoon everyone!
I cannot believe this is week four already. This class has gone by so fast! While I am still in the
process of completing my final essay, I believe I am far enough along that I can discuss my writing
process. I have writing anxiety and I am sure I am not the only one in here that feels that way. When I
wrote the Generating Ideas assignment on my writing process, I compared my writing anxiety to what
a person feels prior to a dental procedure or having surgery. I used to cope by avoidance. I would
procrastinate until the very last minute. That level of deadline stress combined with the apprehension
of writing in general compounded my panic level. This is not a good thing and the results were less
than adequate. Over

Similarities Between Crossing And Dwelling
Before, the Africans were forced to migrate to the America, they had their own individual religions.
They practiced their tribal religions which varied because they were from different parts of Africa.
During the African Diaspora, African s were deported to America in the Atlantic Slave Trade. These
Africans were from the same continent but they had their own identities, languages, and beliefs. The
Europeans captured and enslaved these Africans from different countries in Africa so they weren t able
to communicate with each other and possibly rebel. In Crossing and Dwelling, Tweed s theory is about
how religion is geographical meaning it is distinct to a particular location. This explains why the slave
masters gathered slaves from different

Life and Business in the Galapagos Islands
Business in the Galapagos Islands takes place mainly during lunch hour, as many people are out at
midday eating. Restaurants may even be closed at night in rural areas. This is because some serve
local food or cater for tourists in larger cities. In more recent decades, fast food restaurants common in
America have been drifting over to Ecuador, such as McDonalds. There is also a Chinese community
that originated back in the 19th century here. This familiarizes the locals with dishes like fried rich
with chicken, which goes by the name chaulafan de pollo. When touring, one may find a variety of
fritters and fried dough s like buhuelos, and other pastries, as street foods are a popular choice.
Ecuadorians in the higher valleys of the Andes reply on potatoes as staples in their diets. To spices
these potatoes, and other dishes, they use a very hot Andean chili. A sauce seasoned with aji, also
containing milk or water is also very common. Varieties on banana are numerous in this country. This
allows bananas to be used in many recipes. Other common ingredients include peanuts, peppers, and
almonds. A lot of raw fish is also eaten, as well as tamales, soups, and filled pies When touring the
islands, one might notice that the food is as unique and varied as the people inhabiting the lands. The
culinary traditions are influenced by both the Inea and Spanish conquers of the territory. As the
landscapes change, the dishes also change. Many popular lunches include; Ceviche, which is

Importance Of Effective Communication
Good communication is a key tool that every member within the NHS must have and should be
willing to improve. This is because most jobs and roles will involve patient interaction on a daily
basis. Good and effective communication will not only make it easier for service users to follow
instructions such as how and when to take medication but will also make their experience a positive
one which helps with the overall goal of delivering a quality service.
Communication is an essential skill that is used every day within the NHS and when problems arise in
communication, the patient is at risk (Blizard, 2012). There are many forms of communication such as
verbal and non verbal etc. All forms of communication are as important as each other within the NHS.
The most common form is face to face communication and staff will realise that every service user is
unique and a different style and tone may have to be used to meet the needs of the individual
(England.nhs.uk, 2017). Within the hospital there are hundreds of people every day and it is no
surprise that there are often barriers which have an impact on effective communication. Most common
type of barrier would include language and physiological barriers, for example if the patient is not able
to remember very well this could have an impact on communication. It is the role of every member of
staff to try to overcome these barriers as best as they can to ensure effective and quality
communication. Staff within the NHS may often

While there maybe countless online casino developers operating in 2015, few of the smaller names do
much to stand out from the crowd. It seems that for many upstart names, finding an audience and
breaking into the industry proves to be quite the challenge. The larger companies amidst the landscape
have not taken kindly to newer names muscling in, reducing the reach of smaller development
company s in the process. However, while this is the case, a small firm from the United Kingdom has
managed to find a foothold in the industry.

Personal Statement On Team Rules
13. Team Rules I will determine most of the basic rules concerning GPA, being late to practice, and
the consequences for not reaching the statistics base marks (number of points scored in a quarter,
serving percentage, etc.) set before each game by the coaching staff. However, rules concerning what
to wear on game days, whether team lunches are required, etc. I will leave up to my team to decide at
the beginning of the season. I also believe that because they will be setting up these rules that they are
also the ones responsible for the consequences as well. 14. Scholarships I want to be an extremely
active coach concerning recruiting. As a coach, I would like to eventually coach at the collegiate level
and having the ability to both network as well as produce players that are scholarship worthy is a way
to portray my ability as a coach. As a coach, I want what is best for my players and I want them to
truly love the sport. If they come to love the sport and would like to play on in college, I want them to
be able to have that opportunity. I did not have any coaches that were active in helping me to know
how to recruit myself. I think that if I would have had more information about recruiting then it would
have benefitted me as an athlete. I will make sure that every freshman that comes into my program is
aware of the NCAA Eligibility Center and how the recruiting process works regardless of whether I
think they could play collegiately. As a coach, I will not know until

Ab Isotype Switching Case Study
Before encountering an antigen, a naïve B cell expresses both IgM and IgD on its surface. A single
transcript of VDJ CμCδ is alternatively spliced to yield either the μ or the δ heavy chains.
There is no DNA switch region before the Cδ gene. Switch regions are found in DNA upstream of
each constant region gene (except in the δ chain). Ab isotype switching occurs by recombination
between switch regions (S), with deletion of the intervening DNA, and must occur before functional
transcripts of these genes are made. Isotype switching requires the enzyme AID, which is expressed in
B lymphocytes in response to signals from T cells
These experiments tell us that the CD40L on the surface of activated T cells must bind to the CD40 on

Gifted Flaws
People say that being smart or gifted is a superb kind of ability. However does society even know the
basic definition of giftedness? For example, Albert Einstein s name is associated with the term genius
in pop culture (Cohen), but people still don t know how the mind of a genius thinks or what it goes
through. This is a problem with society itself for not accepting different people just because they are
greater. Being a gifted has its advantages and its flaws such as how gifted person can mean conflict
with society, being gifted can mean things such as a higher IQ, and gifted people contribute many
important factors to innovation. PROBLEMS WITH A GIFTED. There are many problems that come

Innovation is turning an idea into a solution that adds value from a customer s perspective. This means
that a gifted persons ability to tell the difference between the goals, assignment and mission is crucial
to innovation because they can focus on each aspect of innovation (Hoeller). They can also make
fabulous leaders because they can identify habits, traditions, and social pressure ( Hoeller ). However
the people with these habits and traditions might hate the gifted leader. Furthermore creative thinking
is second nature for the gifted especially for innovation where you need creative ideas. Another
contribution they make is being versatile they can switch their jobs if they need to and not just have
one or two skills (Hoeller). The gifted may also have high passion and commitment to a project or

opinions doesn t matter to them. That is what a gifted contributes to innovation in the

How Did Emily Dickinson Influence Her Work
Emily Dickinson is currently considered one of the most famous American authors, despite the fact
that her work was not well known in her own day. Emily was notable to American Literature, and she
sealed the road for several of today s poets. She was a creative poet, determined writer, and an
extreme introvert who never gave up. Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830 and passed
away at age 55 on May 15, 1886. ( Emily Famous). Having grown up in poverty, it influenced her
poems greatly. Emily Dickinson s father, Edward Dickinson, was a lawyer, a member of Congress,

It is very popular because she uses this metaphor through a bird, showing that even in the hard times
we should still have hope ( Emily Study). Theres many reasons why this poem is so popular, one
being the way she puts commas around the word hope (O Connor). Hope is the Thing with Feathers is
also a very positive poem, and many people feel as if it speaks right to the heart (O Connor). There is
a lot of reviews saying that it just has a pleasant type of message (O Connor). Many people also find it
a very good description of hope, and many people love it because they feel as if they can relate to it (O
Connor). This poem was published in 1891 in the 2nd collection of Dickinson s work, Poems by
Emily Dickinson, second series ( Hope Encyclopedia). My opinion of Hope is the Thing with Feathers
would have to be that she was very clear with her message. Not only do I feel that I can relate to it, I
feel as if many other people can relate to it. That poems main point is about hope and how you should
believe in it whenever things are not looking up for you, and I think that is very true. Many times
people get discouraged and think that there is nothing left but there is, and it is hope. I highly agree
with Dickinson in her poem Hope is the Thing with Feathers . Other people who have written reviews
on the poem say that it gives them chills, and that they adored this poem

The Strengths Of Culture In Dubai
ASSIGNMENT:
Question 1: What is your greatest strength culturally speaking? Explain.
I think the strength of Dubai s culture is the fact that even though it is home to a number of
immigrants and has the reputation of being one of the most attractive tourist spots; it has preserved its
culture. The Emirates operate according to the Muslim culture and centres on the family. Even though
it is known as the entertainment capital of Middle East, the local nationals keep themselves from over
indulging in the offered entertainment practices which has helped in preserving the culture in spite of
the large number of non immigrant population. Dubai has become a cosmopolitan city with a
maintained rich culture, tradition and customs. It is a stable and yet progressive society and culture.
Even tough Islam is the major religion of Dubai there is tolerance and respect for other religions of the
migrants which is another strength of the diverse population of Dubai. This culture of absorbing the
different cultures and understanding the differences is the true strength of culture here in Dubai.

The Importance Of Plants In Canada
Plants are extremely important to the growth and development of Canada because as a source of food,
the country requires the nutrients the plants provide and they are irreplaceable. Plants are crucial as
they are a component of everything people eat, whether people eat the plants or the animal they eat or
get food from rely on plants. The more food and plants available to better the reproduction, and
therefore more population growth in communities. Having more food available for the entire
population has shown to decrease poverty and increase the overall development of the community (2).
In Canada, there is a large discrepancy between the food security of the southern provinces and
northern territories. This has stuck many northern Canadians in difficult situations when trying to buy
the proper food. There is also an economic factor of food and plants. In current society, most food in
imported from country to country, creating many economic benefits in countries that import food (3).
That money can be used to create a better community and country. On another level, plants and crops
also have religious and symbolic value in our culture, which helps to increase development on a social
level. Increases in variety and quantity can help to develop communities. Certain pants and foods help
to give communities and countries their identity. For example, many foods are crucial to our identity
like maple syrup. Overall, food and plants is extremely important to Canada as a society

Obligations, Reasons, And The Will By Ruth Chang Essay
In Commitments, Reasons, and the Will, Ruth Chang argues that there are special reasons for actions
produced within committed relationships which do not arise in other relationships, and that the
commitment itself gives these reasons their normative force (75). In contrast, in Autonomy and the
Authority of Personal Commitments: From Internal Coherence to Social Normativity Joel Anderson
objects that views which emphasize volitions fail to adequately explain the normative failure of one
who acts contrary to their commitments (94). First, this paper will explicate Chang s argument for
voluntarist reasons, and, second, it will examine Anderson s objection and his social normativity
proposal. I will argue that Chang fails to establish why volitional reasons are necessary to explain the
normativity of commitments, and, furthermore, that Anderson s account is more plausible.
Chang regards commitments as exercises of our normative powers, whereby we will reasons into
existence for ourselves (75). She focuses on commitments made to friends, family, and romantic
partners, and those made to oneself in terms of projects. These differ from other types of
commitments, such as promises, since the obligation to keep a promise exists only because promises
invite others to develop expectations (76). The commitments Chang discusses create internal
obligations rather than moral obligations because, according to her, they need not cause expectations
in others (although they often

The Character Message in The Conjure Tales of Charles W....
Going back over the Goophered Grapevine and Po Sandy in The Conjure Tales of Charles W.
Chesnutt, I want to unfold the message Chesnutt is portraying through particular characters in these
stories. Is the message the critics see, the same as the reader? I feel like Chesnutt contradicts himself
in the conjure tales. By this I mean that he comes off to the reader as one thing, but he is interpreted by
literary critics as something else. I think the reason that Chesnutt s work seems contradictory is
because he has many voices throughout the stories and it is hard for the reader to distinguish which
voice belongs to Chesnutt. Should these stories be looked upon as mere entertainment or as something
else? According to Richard E. Baldwin, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
William Andrews saw that Chesnutt used the old time Negro model to create Uncle Julius (Chesnutt,
378). Looking at the Goophered Grapevine, one of the main characters, Julius, is seen as being a
trickster. He seems to lie in order to fulfill his own desires. The author is reaffirming the stereotypes of
blacks by using the character in this manner. Which is, they are liars and they will do anything to
achieve what they need or want. This is how the old slave was exploited. Although they were faithful
in years they were portrayed as willing to steal or kill to get what they needed. The reader is not
sympathetic with Julius in the two stories. The other two main characters are John, the narrator, and
his wife Annie. According to Duncan, John and Julius negotiate a new... relationship between two
previously isolated American voices: the black and the white, the rich and the poor, the North and the
South (Duncan, 78). John and his wife represent two sides of the white community; those who hold
the beliefs of the plantation school and those that are sympathetic with the Negro and their condition
(slavery, post slavery). It appears that Chesnutt made the narrator a white male for a reason. This is

Essay Judith and Maidservant with the Head of Holofernes
I had never heard of the artist Artemisia Gentileschi before this introductory Art course. Of all the
paintings and sculptures found within the book, it was her work that stood out and spoke to me. Judith
and Maidservant with the head of Holofernes is a particularly rich oil painting by the Italian
Gentileschi, painted circa 1625 Europe. Her large canvas measures 72 and 1/2 inches by 55 and 3/4
inches and began as a biblical story telling inspiration come to life within the oil. Located at the
Detroit Institute of Arts, the painting was a gift to the institute from Art collector Mr. Leslie H. Green
in 1952. Artemisia was the daughter of a painter (and caravaggio influenced) Orazio Gentileschi, she
was also the wife of little known artist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Artemisia continued an affair with Agostino under the promise of marriage, when the marriage never
happened, her father brought charges against Tassi and a trial ensued, to which Artemisia was tortured
during a gynecological examination for the trial. Again life imitating art and a testament toward the
women depicted in her paintings. Miss Gentileschi married a man named Pierantonio Stiattesi and
they moved to Florence. As mentioned, Artemisia had 5 children, however only her daughter
Prudentia survived into adulthood. After her mother s death in 1656, Prudentia disappeared from
history.
I believe, as do others, Judith and the Maidservant with the head of Holofernes is perhaps homage to
her rape and subsequent treatment during her adolescent years. Her painting`s inspiration also plays
tribute to the biblical story of Judith, who sleeps with the King Holofernes and than decapitates the
drunk King in his sleep. Both Judith and the maidservant are now dominate in the painting over the
dead male, they are quiet, unobtrusive and tense. A single candle burns within the dark room creating
stark contrast between light and dark. The artist`s great skill can be seen in the bright highlighted
details of Judith s hand and in the folds of clothing of the two. Depth and dark core detail can also be
seen in the dark and reflective shadow areas within the room. Judith s hand covers the candlelight as
she peers at the outside world, perhaps in an attempt to help in

Into Thin Air Book Report
NON FICTION Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer What prior knowledge did you bring to the reading that
helped you understand the book? Be sure to choose a specific part of the book to support your answer.
Before reading this book, I had already been aware of the countless dangers of Mt. Everest. Last
summer I read a book about Mt. Everest much like this one in the state that both were spoken through
personal accounts, and both used constant detail to express the horrible and painful experiences that
both authors had to go through. This prior knowledge helped better my understanding of this book
because I was aware of the common occurrences that can take place while climbing Mt. Everest, and
the gruesome circumstances that go with it. During the eighth chapter, readers become aware of a
horrible condition that a character is dealing with. By the time he arrived at the tents late that

In chapter 2, Jon gives readers background information about Mt. Everest, and in it contains a quote
about us as humans. Once Everest was determined to be the highest summit on earth, it was only a
matter of time before people decided that Everest needed to be climbed (Krakauer 16). This quote
basically sums up the human race. Once somebody tells you something is impossible, you are going to
try harder to fulfill it. Jon is an example of this because through all of the hard work and pain he
experienced throughout the expedition, he wanted to achieve this goal for himself, rather than just for
the magazine he was working for. Like this quote, there are many others throughout the book that
exemplify perseverance and bravery, which is why I believe that pushing yourself through extremely

Ancient Olympic Gamges to Modern Day Olympic Games Essay
Spectators from all over the world have gathered together on one stage, leaving no seat empty in the
grand arena. Cheers could be heard from all over the stadium as athletes from different towns and
cities come out. These people, trained and ready, have come from throughout the land, gathered
together in one spot to compete against one another. This was no simple competition. Not only is it for
the people, but it is also for the gods, to see who will be declared victor amongst those who call
themselves the finest over the rest. The moment the runner wielding the torch enters the stadium,
everyone waits and watches in earnest anticipation. The cauldron is lit by the Olympic flame and the
arena thunders with applause and hurrahs. The games ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another reason as to why the ancient games are regarded highly is because Persian king Xerxes, on
hearing that Olympia awarded only wreath prizes, marveled that Greeks competed not for material
reward, but only for honor (Kyle 34). The games were often associated with physical effort, fair
competition..., and sacred truce (Callebat 556). The ancient games were meant to create a sense of
peace for festivities dedicated to their gods. To do something underhanded was not justifiable. Ancient
Greece was not a unified state at the time of its birth up until the Macedonia king, Philip the II,
conquered it. It was originally split up into many city states, such as Sparta and Athens, which would
fight amongst each other. At one point, the ancient games existed but it eventually went away due to
all the conflict. However, according to Pausanias, a Greek traveler and geographer, the ancient games
were brought back because Greece was grievously worn [down from the] internal strife and plague (
DESCRIPTION OF GREECE ). This is further supported by another Greek lyric poet, Pindar, who
wrote under the power of noble joys, malignant pain is subdued and dies, whenever god sent Fate lifts
prosperity on high ( Pindar ). Noble joys could be interpreted as the festivities and the games while the
malignant pain could

Early Childhood Brain Development Personal Statement
For the last two years, I had the incredible opportunity to work as a research assistant with Dr. Pat
Levitt at Children s Hospital Los Angeles. Dr. Levitt is a renowned figure in the field of neuroscience
research and serves as the Science Director of The National Scientific Council on the Developing
Child. This council consists of a diverse group of distinguished scientists who are working to translate
research on early brain development into a language that is understandable, scientifically accurate, and
useful for public decision makers. They have started a conversation about the importance of providing
a healthy environment for all young children. The combination of genetics and early childhood
experiences ultimately affect the development of a child s brain architecture, which serves as the
foundation for future learning, behavior, and health. Children who experience persistent and
significant adversity during their early childhood are at risk for permanent damage to the formation of
brain circuits. Chronic neglect, abuse, and the consequences of severe poverty each result in an
overactivation of a child s stress response. This prolonged stress response is ... Show more content on

The United States Of America, A Country Driven By...
The United States of America, a country driven by business, money, and technological advancement,
has the third highest corporate income tax rate in the world; the highest among the thirty four
industrialized nations of the Organization for Economic Co operation and Development (OECD)
(Pomerleau, 1). Large corporations that have developed in the United States have recognized this. In
1982, McDermott Inc., with the help of its lawyers, developed a strategy in which they could continue
with their business, founded in New Orleans, without having to be punished by the prohibitive tax
rates employed by the U.S. government (Mider, 2). Thus, the corporate tax inversion was conceived;

A tax inversion would allow a business to escape this high tax rate by creating or buying a foreign
parent... Most importantly, perhaps, companies that invert overseas can take advantage of the generous
U.S. system of interest deductions for payments to their own affiliates abroad benefits that are only
available with a foreign parent company (Mider, 2). The change of address isn t always a true move
either as most companies that utilize this strategy usually keep their executive headquarters in the US.
Some companies that have transitioned to foreign turf include: Medtronic, Burger King, Tim Horton s,
Stratasys, and Horizon Pharma. Currently, New York based Pfizer and Dublin based Allergan are
dealing with a pending tax inversion in which the two would merge, a $160 billion deal, making this
the potential largest inversion ever (Dunsmuir, 1). The US government is actively making new rules
and regulations regarding corporate tax inversions which has put the Pfizer Allergan merge on hold.
According to Lindsay Dunsmuir, last November, following the announcement of the Allergan Pfizer
deal, Treasury clamped down on inversions by limiting a U.S. acquirer s ability to set up a new foreign
parent in a third country and to stuff assets into a foreign parent to meet post inversion ownership
limits. Another treasury imposed regulation would prevent Allergan s major deals that

The Language Of The Aztec People Essay
When someone hears the phrase ancient Empires a few civilizations come to mind such as the
Mesopotamian Empire, the Roman Empire and the Aztec Empire but has anyone took into
consideration what happened to their language years after they fell? One would assume that these
civilizations languages have become dead languages, languages no longer in use. However, this paper
will explore whether or not the Náhuatl language, the language of the Aztec people, is considered dead
language. Into my research there are a small collective of people who still speak the language. There is
a possibility of spreading the language through the education system to try to keep this language from
disappearing completely, however do we have the right? Take a moment to imagine aliens have
invaded the planet earth and the human race has lost the war. Now that the aliens have taken control of
the planet we, the human race, must begin the process of assimilating into their culture. In this process
we must give up our languages, cultures and beliefs to please our alien overlords. Anything that is
alien has become a symbol of wealth and power. Anything human is considered inferior. As a result
the majority of our records have been destroyed, Earth, many of the world s languages are now
considered extinct. Intergalactic researchers have to dig through old archives, interview the remaining
human species in an effort to decode the dead languages. However, the remaining few humans believe

The Notebook By Nicholas Sparks Essay
A romantic drama film is a genre that explores the difficult aspects that come with love. The plot
usually includes two people that are in love that can t be together the way they want to be due to
obstacles. The obstacles in a romantic drama film can include a family s disapproval, to forbidden
love, to one s own psychological restrictions. The Notebook is a movie based on a best selling novel
that was written by author Nicholas Sparks. This is a love story that is composed of a series of
obstacles between two young people that are madly in love with each other. It perfectly fits and
displays the criteria for a successful romantic drama film because it includes the complexity of love,
and elicits emotions.
In The Notebook there are countless obstacles between the two main characters that are in love. This
allows the movie to fit into the drama aspect of the genre, displaying the complexity of their love.
Complex love includes the drama, and difficulties of a relationship, while still being closely connected
to the romantic parts of a relationship. This is prevalent in The Notebook. Allie and Noah, played by
well known actors Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling, were two people from different social classes.
Allie was from a wealthy, privileged upper class family while Noah was making around 40 cents an
hour at a lumber yard job. While love is not confined to the amount of money that each person has, in
the 1940 s, which is the setting of the movie, social class played an

Wisconsin Fast Plants Grow Experiment
In this experiment we are testing the effect of fertilizer on the speed of plant growth. We prepared a 4
quad cell, 1 control group and 3 experimental groups. So, we had one with no fertilizer, one with three
seeds of fertilizer, one with six seeds of fertilizer, and lastly, one with nine seeds of fertilizer. The
plants that we grew were called Wisconsin Fast Plants, members of the crucifer family. These plants
are small and easy to grow, but for optimal growth they require continuous fertilizer, water,
fluorescent light, and temperature between 18 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius 24 hours a day.
Fertilizers are substances that are put into soils to increase the growth of the plant. There are two

were going to make the biggest plant the fastest. I thought this because it would have the most

was not completely right with my initial prediction. My personal data came to the conclusion that the
3 pellets made the plant grow the fastest but in the class data by the end the average data showed that
9 pellets showed the most growth. This experiment was set up as four different plant seeds in four
different quadrants. Each of the four quadrants had a different amount of fertilizer. We watered them
and planted them in soil then every week we checked in on our plants. We measured the size if the
plants and then recorded it and put them back under the fluorescent light. Then everyone recorded
their data and we watched the class data on average, then the last day we measured the mass of the
plants and found the class data. So although my prediction of 9 pellets of fertilizer creating the most
growth was true in the class data, it was not true in my individual

Mary Wollstonecraft A Vindication Of The Rights Of Women
Poets go above and beyond in their poetry to uncover an ugly truth or an inevitable demise. Through
lyric and line they express their out of the box ideas and call attention to problems that are brewing in
their society. Mary Wollstonecraft wrote an essay to expose the poor treatment of women in the late
1700 s. In Wollstonecraft s A Vindication of the Rights Of Women , she indicts her society by
revealing the injustice of her society towards women. Her vindication has been echoed in other works
such as Goblin Market which also shows the condemning of women who choose to go against the

Neuromancer And The Matrix Analysis
William Gibson s Neuromancer, and The Matrix by The Wachowskis both depict a society in which
humans are under constant manipulation by indispensable machines. In Neuromancer, the protagonist
Case is indirectly manipulated by a powerful Artificial Intelligence named Wintermute. In The Matrix,
majority of the human population lives within a computer simulated world, run by machines.
However, both storylines depict the fact that manipulation is more abundant than is often seen, as both
protagonists are more frequently under the influence of other humans. Neuromancer and The Matrix
both demonstrate the nature of manipulation, and explore the fact that individuals are oblivious to the
manipulation that they face.
Manipulation is ubiquitous. Throughout the movie, the Matrix is presented to the audience as the as
the only source of manipulation, What is the Matrix? Control (The Matrix). The perspective shown to
the audience implies that the robots are the only manipulative force present within this society.
Morpheus introduces Neo to the concept of the Matrix, by saying You are a slave, Neo (The Matrix)
and further explaining it as A prison for your mind (The Matrix). However, even once Neo has been
freed from the matrix, he remains susceptible. Neo is constantly being manipulated by both the Oracle

He snuck through a window in City Hall just before the press conference was scheduled to take place,

Despite the evidence of premeditation, the obvious animosity between the assassin and the victims,
and the immediate confession, Dan White was only convicted of two counts of voluntary
manslaughter. He served five years in prison for his crime. In the context of the assassination of two
government officials, the jury s conviction is almost inconsequential. To fully understand the
implication of the term voluntary manslaughter it is necessary to distinguish the different
classifications of murder as defined by California State law. The definition of murder constitutes both
deliberation and premeditation, while voluntary manslaughter is defined as the killing of another
human spontaneously with the lack of previous planning. After staying up all night, Dan White called
his secretary and asked for a ride to City Hall, having no purpose to be in the building, due to the fact

Political Culture And Higher Education Regimes
Political Culture and Higher Education Regimes Political culture as a whole has a direct impact on
higher education. The chain of command established is created in order to ensure that all systems have
a say in what policies are created to manage universities, with a Board of Regents directing over the
state s higher education. Both California and Louisiana s systems operate differently, but have some
similarities as well.
California
According to Kleiman and Gittell, political culture is a combination of history and social factors, and
it has an impact on state policies, including higher education (in Brown et al., 2010, pp. 713). In
California s educational system, this is evident. The Master Plan established in 1960 shows evidence
of the impact a populist system on political culture on education (Kleinman and Gittell in Brown,
2010). This system provides differentiation in the functions of universities and colleges in California
based on the segments, UC, USC and California Community Colleges (two year colleges, four year
research universities, and four year degree universities). It also established applicant pools for the
three types of colleges, established universal access, and continued tuition free education for
California s residents. The Master Plan established provisions for grant money, as well as governing
structure for each of the three segments. Lastly, the Master Plan established a coordinating structure

Milton s Paradise Lost And The Fall Of Adam And Eve
Through his work of Paradise Lost, Milton exposes his view that God allows suffering in order for a
greater good of the human race to exist. Milton uses the Fall both Satan s and Adam and Eve s as a
device to demonstrate human corruption, as each fall is a step down from a higher being to a lower
being . Both the Fall of Satan and the Fall of Adam Eve are falls away from a position of divine power
to a position of chaos and disorder something Milton illustrates as an undesirable event. Milton
introduces Satan as a selfish, power hungry character; similar to an individual of today s society who
believes they are the greatest nobody can one up them. He inherently denies of the existence of a
greater God, as that would discredit his own belief that he is the utmost being. Instead of blind denial,
Satan instead builds up a power against God himself, in an effort to contest the throne of Heaven
(slide). However, this in of itself is a hypocrisy on his own beliefs, as he cannot be autonomous in a
search for autonomy, since he is unable to defeat God on his own. This is Satan s first fall, because he
has now relinquished his stance on denying a being greater than himself, and must maintain his
uprising unless he wants to face what Milton would consider a second Fall. Milton uses Satan as a
representation of disobedience within the human race; he is the wrong direction in the two paths of
moral decisions. He uses Satan to show that rebellion that stems from self

Why are Apple Products so Popular?
In today s world, Apple s products are highly sought after because they are very popular for everyone.
According to Yarow, editor of The Business Insider, said that the newest iPhone sold 5 million over
the opening weekend (Yarow, 2012). However, it is difficult to find the reason why Apple s products
are so superior compared with other electronic products in the market. Since Apple s products come
out in our life, it has facilitated our life and brought us huge benefits. For instance, people do not need
to bring their heavy laptops to go to work every day, because they already have the portable tablet PC

DigiTimes (2010) demonstrates that the first generation of iPad price was $499, at that time some
tablet PC manufacturers predicted iPad s price is about $1000 and these tablet PC manufacturers
originally planned their tablet prices 20% 30% lower than the iPad. The present the iPad price is only
$499, which compels the tablet PC manufacturer to re evaluate the price strategy. If tablet PC
manufacturers want their product appealing to consumers, they could only adjust the price lower than
the iPad. But the final result shows that it is failed, and now iPad is the fourth generation, but it still
people s first choice for PC tablets. If the iPhone and iPad s price were more expensive, maybe they
would not be so popular; I believe Apple Company is also aware of this
In short, my conclusion is that the cause of Apple s products being popular depends on its creative
design, unique innovation and the reasonable price. If there were no Apple s products, I believed the
development of electronic products would slow down at least ten years. Because the market has Apple
s products, our life is more convenient than before. The emergence of Apple s products makes
electronic product market have more competition. No matter what, the direct beneficiaries of the price
war is the consumer. The constantly price war will make commodity prices approached the cost.

How Does Ethanol Affect The Rate Of Respiration In Yeast
The effect of ethanol on yeast respiration
Purpose: To use the phenolphthalein indicator to indicate the respiratory activity of yeast cells
Hypothesis: The greater the concentration of ethanol, the slower the rate of respiration will be.
Conclusion
We conducted this experiment in order to observe the rate of respiration in yeast cells. When yeast
cells metabolize glucose, they produce carbon dioxide and that can change the color of water. This
connects to the purpose of this lab because respiration produces CO2 which is acidic and lowers the
solution s pH. Rate of respiration cannot be measured directly; however, it produces CO2 which is
acidic and will lower the pH of a solution, meaning that if the solution s pH drops sufficiently, the
color (huge indicator) would change. In this scenario, phenolphthalein, which changes color from pink
to colorless at pH 8.2, was used. The time taken for decolorization corresponds to rate of CO2
production which is inversely proportionate to rate of respiration (shorter time = greater rate).
Prior to this lab, we were aware of the fact that most of the time, the ... Show more content on

Even though a water bath is still better at maintaining temperature than other methods (eg: heating the
glassware over flame, etc), they can also have fluctuating temperatures which in this case, would be
very significant since temperature has a huge effect on the rate of respiration. There is no knowing
whether there were temperature changes from the time we put the samples into the water bath and the
time we took them out, meaning that the rate of respiration may have been affected in other ways
instead of just the amount of ethanol present in the sample. In order to prevent this limitation, we
could consistently monitor the temperature by adding a thermometer in the water so that we can be
aware of any changes if they

Compare And Contrast Dr Hyde And The Hound Of Baskervilles
All my life I have been wondering about many different things, but it seems as though I never get the
time to figure them out. In the books Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and The hound of Baskervilles we read
about two mysteries that compel the individuals to thirst for knowledge. Specifically Utterson and
Sherlock both take on mysterious cases that challenge them to reach out and seek for knowledge. After
reading these books I learned that the thirst for knowledge compels an individual for more. In the
book Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde we see this thirst for knowledge in Utterson. Utterson who is a single
minded lawyer is compelled solve what is wrong with his dear friend of his Jekyll. Utterson is
determined to find out what is wrong with Jekyll when he thinks a man named Hyde is blackmailing
him. Utterson exclaims, If he be Mr. Hyde, he had thought, I shall be ... Show more content on

Watson was interrogating Laura Lyons at her office when he was challenged by her arrogance. She
met my difficulty with the utmost readiness (Doyle 111). Watson even though challenged by Laura s
persistent arrogance his thirst for knowledge pushed him. Watsons thirst for knowledge helped him in
this time of trouble where the key of the case is being ignorant. Lastly in one of the last chapters in the
story Watson and Sherlock sit down to discuss the final descriptions of the case. I had waited patiently
for the opportunity, for I was aware the he would never permit cases to overlap, and that his clear
logical mind would not be drawn from its present work to dwell upon memories of the past (156).
Watson had sat down with sherlock to discuss the case but Sherlock waited patiently as Sherlock
finished up talking about another case. Watsons thirst for knowledge urged him to talk about the final
descriptions of the case but because of his patience he held back and waited for the right

Importance of Faith in Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel...
Importance of Faith in Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel Hawthorne
In Young Goodman Brown, the main character, Goodman Brown has a bout with his own faith. He
ends up losing this battle because of the wickedness in everyone else s hearts. He begins by wanting to
be the evil one, then progresses to be the faithful one as the night in the woods goes on. His name has
a lot to do with the character in the story. The Young in his name is to symbolize innocence, and
GOODMAN is pretty self explanatory. He goes off in to the woods and comes with a lost faith in
everyone else in the town.
Goodman Brown decides he wants to go off into the woods for one last night of evilness before
married life really kicked in. He says, What a wretch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They knew that the evils of the real world hid in the forest, as did Goodman. But he still went in! He
let this man with the serpent staff keep him from turning around, and getting out of the woods. On
page 274 the evil man says, We are but a little way in the forest, yet. Goodman responds, Too far, too
far, but didn t realize he was still walking farther into the woods! He says he has walked too far into
the woods, but is still going! He is being overtaken by the evilness of the woods.
Just when I thought he was turned to the evil side, Goodman sees his wife s hair ties. This is where he
starts to turn back to the good side of life. On page 277, Goodman says, Come witch, come wizard,
come Indian powwow, come devil himself! and here comes Goodman Brown. You may as well fear
him as he fear you! This is where Goodman turns back to the good side, when he finds out the devil is
consuming his Faith. When Goodman and Faith are on the evil altar, Goodman says, Faith! Faith!
Look up to Heaven, and resist the Wicked One! Obviously Faith was evil hearted because she was at
this gathering with the devil. She went there to be inducted into the group and Goodman tried to stop
her. This wasn t a dream he was having because on page 280 it says, while a hanging twig, that had
been all on fire. There was a twig on fire and it brushed against his cheek.
Faith is an appropriate name for Goodman s wife. It symbolizes

A Speech On Being A Terrible Dancer
I stood in fear in front of hundreds of people, and the entire time I could feel them judging me for
being a terrible dancer. I remember it vividly. Never in my life had I felt so embarrassed, so
unconfident in my skills. In my childhood, I was always praised for being an extremely good dancer
but now, at such an important moment of my life, my skills betrayed me and the tables turned. Every
time I heard the sound of laughter from the audience it felt as though they were laughing at me. In one
day, in a single hour, on a single stage I experienced my worst nightmare. To become a laughingstock
at my school, reduced from a popular girl to a dorky clown who is just there for people to laugh at, it
was unbearable to think. As I was dancing horribly, it happened, I fell.
It was September 3, 2006 and I was only in grade six. Every year our school held an annual cultural
night. The event showcased singing, dancing, a drama, and an award ceremony. That year I was
chosen to dance. As I already had an existing reputation for dancing well, I was an appropriate choice
for the event. The dance I chose to do was complicated in itself but I wanted to take it one step further
by adding my own twist to it. The dance consisted of traditional Bengali dance followed by a small
contemporary piece and then finished by a combination of Salsa and Tango. I chose these dance forms
because I was trained for many years in these arts.
On the night of the performance quite a few excellent performances

Paper On Stephen Hawking
Stephen Hawking (January 1942 Present)
Few minds of this century have had an impact like that of Stephen Hawking. His discoveries and work
have expanded the forefront of knowledge with a likeness to that of Einstein and Newton. Despite the
clear adversity Hawking has faced, his achievements have been nothing shore of extraordinary. His
work on the understanding of space, time, and the origins of the universe has set the golden standard
for theories on the universes beginnings and mysteries, proving a staple teaching of modern education
which we may take for granted. Born January 8, 1942 in Oxford, England Stephen William Hawking
was not quite the extraordinary mind that he is known as today (Witherbee 1). He was the son of
Frank and Isabella Hawking, who were of modest means and were the first among their own families
to make more of themselves; Frank was the first to attend college, graduating from Oxford with his
degree in medicine (Eicher 2). Both parents knew the importance of education and adventure, pushing
their children to strive for excellence and do better for themselves than they had (Witherbee 1).
Stephen came into the world during World War II, in the midst of the Nazi blitz bombings throughout
England (Eicher 2). Some of his earliest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hawking has not let his disease define him, publishing many books, teaching at Cambridge for some
time, and receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Barak Obama in 2009 (Witherbee 3).
Hawking overcame an obstacle few others could have, all while revolutionizing the understanding of
the universe. He proved the mainstay of modern knowledge, through his work on the Big Bang
Theory, and made various other contributions. Stephen Hawking is one of the most talented
individuals of the 21st Century, not only due to his work In the field of math and physics but also for
the extraordinary life he has

Fuzzy Thinking Analysis
In IT Foundations, I was assigned by Mrs. Baumaster to watch the video Fuzzy Thinking. The speaker
in this video is an Astrophysicist by the name of Neil deGrasse Tyson. In the video, Fuzzy Thinking he
talked about many things like what was wrong with the misspellings of the word Cat and about his
choice between hiring two workers. The video did not seem very interesting at first but as I watched it,
the video got more and more interesting. Tyson is a very good presenter in the video because he made
it interesting and fun to listen to him. All in all, this video was a great way to get his message out on
how people think. I answered 5 questions that Mrs. Baumaster asked about the video Fuzzy Thinking.
Fuzzy Thinking is when people are not thinking straight. I know this is correct because right after he
said fuzzy thinking he told the audience the definition of it. The misspelling of the word cat is a very
complex question. One misspelling is spelled as XQT and the other is spelled as KAT but they are
considered equally as wrong even though one sounds like cat and the other does not. Tyson s is an
astrophysicist which is similar to being an astronomer. Astrophysicists study the physics of space. I
think this is a very cool job and it would also be very interesting as well as fun. The two job
candidates were very different from one another. The first job candidate had knowledge of the
building because they studied architecture beforehand. They knew the spire is 155ft

When I wrote the Generating Ideas assignment on my writing process, I compared my writing anxiety to what a person feels prior to a dental procedure or having surgery. I used to cope by avoidance. Restaurants may even be closed at night in rural areas. This is because some serve local food or cater for tourists in larger cities. In more recent decades, fast food restaurants common in America have been drifting over to Ecuador, such as McDonalds. There is also a Chinese community that originated back in the 19th century here. This familiarizes the locals with dishes like fried rich with chicken, which goes by the name chaulafan de pollo. When touring, one may find a variety of fritters and fried dough s like buhuelos, and other pastries, as street foods are a popular choice. Ecuadorians in the higher valleys of the Andes reply on potatoes as staples in their diets. To spices these potatoes, and other dishes, they use a very hot Andean chili. A sauce seasoned with aji, also containing milk or water is also very common. Varieties on banana are numerous in this country. This allows bananas to be used in many recipes. Other common ingredients include peanuts, peppers, and almonds. • 6. Importance Of Effective Communication Good communication is a key tool that every member within the NHS must have and should be willing to improve. This is because most jobs and roles will involve patient interaction on a daily basis. Good and effective communication will not only make it easier for service users to follow instructions such as how and when to take medication but will also make their experience a positive one which helps with the overall goal of delivering a quality service. Communication is an essential skill that is used every day within the NHS and when problems arise in communication, the patient is at risk (Blizard, 2012). There are many forms of communication such as verbal and non verbal etc. All forms of communication are as important as each other within the NHS. The most common form is face to face communication and staff will realise that every service user is unique and a different style and tone may have to be used to meet the needs of the individual (England.nhs.uk, 2017). Within the hospital there are hundreds of people every day and it is no surprise that there are often barriers which have an impact on effective communication. Most common type of barrier would include language and physiological barriers, for example if the patient is not able to remember very well this could have an impact on communication. It is the role of every member of staff to try to overcome these barriers as best as they can to ensure effective and quality communication. Staff within the NHS may often ... A single transcript of VDJ CμCδ is alternatively spliced to yield either the μ or the δ heavy chains. There is no DNA switch region before the Cδ gene. Switch regions are found in DNA upstream of each constant region gene (except in the δ chain). Ab isotype switching occurs by recombination between switch regions (S), with deletion of the intervening DNA, and must occur before functional transcripts of these genes are made. The Importance Of Plants In Canada Plants are extremely important to the growth and development of Canada because as a source of food, the country requires the nutrients the plants provide and they are irreplaceable. Plants are crucial as they are a component of everything people eat, whether people eat the plants or the animal they eat or get food from rely on plants. The more food and plants available to better the reproduction, and therefore more population growth in communities. Having more food available for the entire population has shown to decrease poverty and increase the overall development of the community (2). In Canada, there is a large discrepancy between the food security of the southern provinces and northern territories. This has stuck many northern Canadians in difficult situations when trying to buy the proper food. There is also an economic factor of food and plants. In current society, most food in imported from country to country, creating many economic benefits in countries that import food (3). That money can be used to create a better community and country. On another level, plants and crops also have religious and symbolic value in our culture, which helps to increase development on a social level. Obligations, Reasons, And The Will By Ruth Chang Essay In Commitments, Reasons, and the Will, Ruth Chang argues that there are special reasons for actions produced within committed relationships which do not arise in other relationships, and that the commitment itself gives these reasons their normative force (75). In contrast, in Autonomy and the Authority of Personal Commitments: From Internal Coherence to Social Normativity Joel Anderson objects that views which emphasize volitions fail to adequately explain the normative failure of one who acts contrary to their commitments (94). First, this paper will explicate Chang s argument for voluntarist reasons, and, second, it will examine Anderson s objection and his social normativity proposal. I will argue that Chang fails to establish why volitional reasons are necessary to explain the normativity of commitments, and, furthermore, that Anderson s account is more plausible. Chang regards commitments as exercises of our normative powers, whereby we will reasons into existence for ourselves (75). She focuses on commitments made to friends, family, and romantic partners, and those made to oneself in terms of projects. These differ from other types of commitments, such as promises, since the obligation to keep a promise exists only because promises invite others to develop expectations (76). The commitments Chang discusses create internal obligations rather than moral obligations because, according to her, they need not cause expectations in others (although they often ... I feel like Chesnutt contradicts himself in the conjure tales. By this I mean that he comes off to the reader as one thing, but he is interpreted by literary critics as something else. Looking at the Goophered Grapevine, one of the main characters, Julius, is seen as being a trickster. He seems to lie in order to fulfill his own desires. The author is reaffirming the stereotypes of blacks by using the character in this manner. Which is, they are liars and they will do anything to achieve what they need or want. This is how the old slave was exploited. Although they were faithful in years they were portrayed as willing to steal or kill to get what they needed. The reader is not sympathetic with Julius in the two stories. The other two main characters are John, the narrator, and his wife Annie. According to Duncan, John and Julius negotiate a new... relationship between two previously isolated American voices: the black and the white, the rich and the poor, the North and the South (Duncan, 78). As mentioned, Artemisia had 5 children, however only her daughter Prudentia survived into adulthood. After her mother s death in 1656, Prudentia disappeared from history. I believe, as do others, Judith and the Maidservant with the head of Holofernes is perhaps homage to her rape and subsequent treatment during her adolescent years. Her painting`s inspiration also plays tribute to the biblical story of Judith, who sleeps with the King Holofernes and than decapitates the drunk King in his sleep. Both Judith and the maidservant are now dominate in the painting over the dead male, they are quiet, unobtrusive and tense. A single candle burns within the dark room creating stark contrast between light and dark. The artist`s great skill can be seen in the bright highlighted details of Judith s hand and in the folds of clothing of the two. Depth and dark core detail can also be seen in the dark and reflective shadow areas within the room. Be sure to choose a specific part of the book to support your answer. Before reading this book, I had already been aware of the countless dangers of Mt. Everest. Last summer I read a book about Mt. Everest much like this one in the state that both were spoken through personal accounts, and both used constant detail to express the horrible and painful experiences that both authors had to go through. This prior knowledge helped better my understanding of this book because I was aware of the common occurrences that can take place while climbing Mt. Everest, and the gruesome circumstances that go with it. During the eighth chapter, readers become aware of a horrible condition that a character is dealing with. By the time he arrived at the tents late that afternoon Ngawang was delirious, stumbling like a drunk, and coughing up pink, blood laced froth (Krakauer 113). ... Once Everest was determined to be the highest summit on earth, it was only a matter of time before people decided that Everest needed to be climbed (Krakauer 16). This quote basically sums up the human race. Once somebody tells you something is impossible, you are going to try harder to fulfill it. Jon is an example of this because through all of the hard work and pain he experienced throughout the expedition, he wanted to achieve this goal for himself, rather than just for the magazine he was working for. Another reason as to why the ancient games are regarded highly is because Persian king Xerxes, on hearing that Olympia awarded only wreath prizes, marveled that Greeks competed not for material reward, but only for honor (Kyle 34). The games were often associated with physical effort, fair competition..., and sacred truce (Callebat 556). The ancient games were meant to create a sense of peace for festivities dedicated to their gods. To do something underhanded was not justifiable. Ancient Greece was not a unified state at the time of its birth up until the Macedonia king, Philip the II, conquered it. It was originally split up into many city states, such as Sparta and Athens, which would fight amongst each other. At one point, the ancient games existed but it eventually went away due to all the conflict. However, according to Pausanias, a Greek traveler and geographer, the ancient games were brought back because Greece was grievously worn [down from the] internal strife and plague ( DESCRIPTION OF GREECE ). This is further supported by another Greek lyric poet, Pindar, who wrote under the power of noble joys, malignant pain is subdued and dies, whenever god sent Fate lifts prosperity on high ( Pindar ). Milton s Paradise Lost And The Fall Of Adam And Eve Through his work of Paradise Lost, Milton exposes his view that God allows suffering in order for a greater good of the human race to exist. Milton uses the Fall both Satan s and Adam and Eve s as a device to demonstrate human corruption, as each fall is a step down from a higher being to a lower being . Both the Fall of Satan and the Fall of Adam Eve are falls away from a position of divine power to a position of chaos and disorder something Milton illustrates as an undesirable event. Milton introduces Satan as a selfish, power hungry character; similar to an individual of today s society who believes they are the greatest nobody can one up them. He inherently denies of the existence of a greater God, as that would discredit his own belief that he is the utmost being. Instead of blind denial, Satan instead builds up a power against God himself, in an effort to contest the throne of Heaven (slide). However, this in of itself is a hypocrisy on his own beliefs, as he cannot be autonomous in a search for autonomy, since he is unable to defeat God on his own. This is Satan s first fall, because he has now relinquished his stance on denying a being greater than himself, and must maintain his uprising unless he wants to face what Milton would consider a second Fall. • 43. How Does Ethanol Affect The Rate Of Respiration In Yeast The effect of ethanol on yeast respiration Purpose: To use the phenolphthalein indicator to indicate the respiratory activity of yeast cells Hypothesis: The greater the concentration of ethanol, the slower the rate of respiration will be. Conclusion We conducted this experiment in order to observe the rate of respiration in yeast cells. When yeast cells metabolize glucose, they produce carbon dioxide and that can change the color of water. This connects to the purpose of this lab because respiration produces CO2 which is acidic and lowers the solution s pH. Rate of respiration cannot be measured directly; however, it produces CO2 which is acidic and will lower the pH of a solution, meaning that if the solution s pH drops sufficiently, the color (huge indicator) would change. In this scenario, phenolphthalein, which changes color from pink to colorless at pH 8.2, was used. The time taken for decolorization corresponds to rate of CO2 production which is inversely proportionate to rate of respiration (shorter time = greater rate). Prior to this lab, we were aware of the fact that most of the time, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though a water bath is still better at maintaining temperature than other methods (eg: heating the glassware over flame, etc), they can also have fluctuating temperatures which in this case, would be very significant since temperature has a huge effect on the rate of respiration. There is no knowing whether there were temperature changes from the time we put the samples into the water bath and the time we took them out, meaning that the rate of respiration may have been affected in other ways instead of just the amount of ethanol present in the sample. In order to prevent this limitation, we could consistently monitor the temperature by adding a thermometer in the water so that we can be aware of any changes if they ... Lastly in one of the last chapters in the story Watson and Sherlock sit down to discuss the final descriptions of the case. I had waited patiently for the opportunity, for I was aware the he would never permit cases to overlap, and that his clear logical mind would not be drawn from its present work to dwell upon memories of the past (156). Watson had sat down with sherlock to discuss the case but Sherlock waited patiently as Sherlock finished up talking about another case. • 46. A Speech On Being A Terrible Dancer I stood in fear in front of hundreds of people, and the entire time I could feel them judging me for being a terrible dancer. I remember it vividly. Never in my life had I felt so embarrassed, so unconfident in my skills. In my childhood, I was always praised for being an extremely good dancer but now, at such an important moment of my life, my skills betrayed me and the tables turned. Every time I heard the sound of laughter from the audience it felt as though they were laughing at me. In one day, in a single hour, on a single stage I experienced my worst nightmare. To become a laughingstock at my school, reduced from a popular girl to a dorky clown who is just there for people to laugh at, it was unbearable to think. As I was dancing horribly, it happened, I fell. It was September 3, 2006 and I was only in grade six. Every year our school held an annual cultural night. The event showcased singing, dancing, a drama, and an award ceremony. That year I was chosen to dance. As I already had an existing reputation for dancing well, I was an appropriate choice for the event. The dance I chose to do was complicated in itself but I wanted to take it one step further by adding my own twist to it. The dance consisted of traditional Bengali dance followed by a small contemporary piece and then finished by a combination of Salsa and Tango. I chose these dance forms because I was trained for many years in these arts. On the night of the performance quite a few excellent performances ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Paper On Stephen Hawking Stephen Hawking (January 1942 Present) Few minds of this century have had an impact like that of Stephen Hawking. His discoveries and work have expanded the forefront of knowledge with a likeness to that of Einstein and Newton. Despite the clear adversity Hawking has faced, his achievements have been nothing shore of extraordinary. His work on the understanding of space, time, and the origins of the universe has set the golden standard for theories on the universes beginnings and mysteries, proving a staple teaching of modern education which we may take for granted. Born January 8, 1942 in Oxford, England Stephen William Hawking was not quite the extraordinary mind that he is known as today (Witherbee 1). He was the son of Frank and Isabella Hawking, who were of modest means and were the first among their own families to make more of themselves; Frank was the first to attend college, graduating from Oxford with his degree in medicine (Eicher 2). Both parents knew the importance of education and adventure, pushing their children to strive for excellence and do better for themselves than they had (Witherbee 1). Stephen came into the world during World War II, in the midst of the Nazi blitz bombings throughout England (Eicher 2). Some of his earliest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 48. Fuzzy Thinking Analysis In IT Foundations, I was assigned by Mrs. Baumaster to watch the video Fuzzy Thinking. The speaker in this video is an Astrophysicist by the name of Neil deGrasse Tyson. In the video, Fuzzy Thinking he talked about many things like what was wrong with the misspellings of the word Cat and about his choice between hiring two workers. The video did not seem very interesting at first but as I watched it, the video got more and more interesting. Tyson is a very good presenter in the video because he made it interesting and fun to listen to him. All in all, this video was a great way to get his message out on how people think. I answered 5 questions that Mrs. Baumaster asked about the video Fuzzy Thinking. Fuzzy Thinking is when people are not thinking straight. I know this is correct because right after he said fuzzy thinking he told the audience the definition of it. The misspelling of the word cat is a very complex question. One misspelling is spelled as XQT and the other is spelled as KAT but they are considered equally as wrong even though one sounds like cat and the other does not. Tyson s is an astrophysicist which is similar to being an astronomer. Astrophysicists study the physics of space. I think this is a very cool job and it would also be very interesting as well as fun. The two job candidates were very different from one another. The first job candidate had knowledge of the building because they studied architecture beforehand. They knew the spire is 155ft ...
