Meaning Of The Soviet Union During The Cold War
Soviet Union during Cold War The Soviet Union was one of the two powerhouses during the cold war.
They were against the United States of America. The cold war wasn t actually a war physically. They
both had nuclear weapons that they used as an threat. The Soviet Union was an communist country,
while the U.S was democratic. This led to them getting involved with the war in Iran. Learned from:

Southern Loyalist Defeat In The American Revolutionary War
Introduction The purpose of this paper is to identify three factors that contributed to the failure in the
British Southern Campaign in the American Revolutionary war. This paper will examine British and
American Southern Loyalist defeat in the Battle of Kings Mountain, and discuss assumptions the
British made including loyalists support, logistics, and terrain advantage. It is important to study past
military actions to identify mistakes and apply lessons learned to current U.S. military operations.
Background
The Battle of King s Mountain between the American Loyalist and American Patriots took place on
October 7, 1780 between the borders of Blackburn, South Carolina and Kings Mountain, North
Carolina. Major Patrick Ferguson s American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ferguson was approximately 50 miles away from Charlotte and Cornwallis forces. (U.S. Army War
College, 1928) However, Ferguson received further messages the Patriot militia were close to his
position. Ferguson thought they were at a disadvantage at Tate s plantation and left. (Wicker, 1998)
Ferguson decided to make his defensive stand at Kings Mountain with its steep wooded slopes
provided a favorable natural defense. The summit was moderately flat and clear, and had an
abundance of trees that provided timbers to build wooden barricades. (U.S. Army War College, 1928)
Yet, Ferguson despised cutting down trees to use as barricades. (Wicker, 1998) As an alternative, he
placed the wagons and his men s baggage equipment as barricades alongside the mountain s northeast
crest. (Wicker, 1998) Ferguson thought he had the vantage point employing a 360° degree perimeter
defense overlooking down from the crest of the mountain. Campbell received information from the
local population that Ferguson had established his camp at Kings Mountain. Campbell moved quickly,
assembled 900 of his best sharpshooters, mounted their horses, and started on their long night ride in
the rain to stop Ferguson from reaching Cornwallis s

The Psychology Of Self Esteem
Furthermore, the effects of these awards go far beyond sports and contests. Being awarded at such a
young age for just about anything is highly misleading of how the real world works. Many young
Americans have developed a sense of entitlement, expecting to gain more in return for less effort. Per
a study done by Bernard Goldberg approximately one out of every three college students believes they
deserve a B just for attending their courses. This sense of privilege is an almost contagious mind set
that has only gotten worse. But many ask how exactly the idea that one should be rewarded for almost
anything began?
The self esteem movement was developed in 1969 after Nathaniel Branden wrote The Psychology of
Self Esteem. The idea Branden proposed was that self esteem is essential to overall success in life.
This caused many parents to believe that, if they could start by increasing their children s self esteem
they would become more successful in the future. This brought up ideas intended to help children gain
more confidence and self worth. For example, all children should receive participation awards so that
no child would feel bad for not winning. Consequently, studies have found that children s self image
may be negatively impacted by the ideas behind participation trophies and awards. Yet, parents still
encourage rewards be given to all children.
There seem to be two obvious reasons why parents want their children to receive trophies. One, they
are terrified of how

Marina Vs Ostia
I have never given the use of land much thought. I imagine, before civilization there was really
nothing besides wilderness. Now things have changed drastically. The establishment of colonies has
fostered the creation of distinct buildings purposed to serve different functions. From commercial
purposes to something as simple and as essential as shelter, these buildings have been created to
accommodate a targeted group of individuals, for not everybody has access to all of these services.
There has been an ongoing discourse of whether the use of land is determined chronologically,
culturally, or perhaps by some other factor. Of course, this varies from city to city. When comparing
Region V of Ostia to the city of Marina in California it is quite captivating how although very
different a modern place like Marina is very similar to an ancient one like Ostia when it comes to the
distribution of space. Such similarities may have to do with a shared culture, that of warfare. ... Show

and a map of Marina, California side by side what differentiates them the most is how a great deal of
space in Marina is allocated to entertainment facilities whereas shops and workshops seems to have
occupied most of the space in Ostia, Region V. This means that modern cities seem to revolve around
the world of entertainment while ancient places seemed to have been more focused on the selling of
goods rather than that of services. Such phenomena can be due to the demands of the people
habituating the places or to the desires of those who created the buildings. In brevity, the shifting of
peoples desires from wanting to buy things to wanting to be entertained might be the main source of
the differences between these two

Private School Vouchers
I agree with Mark that vouchers divert public money to unaccountable private institutions, such as
charter schools. Most private schools also have the ability to deny admission and still be able to accept
the taxpayer money. Private schools also have the ability to cherry pick students, unlike public
schools. As we discussed in recitations, private schools are more likely to choose students in a dual
parent household because they believe that those parents are more likely to be involved in school
activities. I believe that public taxpayer money should only provide support for public schools that are
accountable and open for all people. Another reason why I dislike the voucher system is that vouchers
do not actually improve opportunities for

Compare And Contrast Love At First Sight In Romeo And Juliet
Many people might or might not believe in love at first sight, but the way shakespeare sees love or
romance is as a drama that ends with a happy ending. Everybody falls in love different ways, but
falling in love at first sight is rare nowadays. Many people fall in love at first sight because of their
looks, but after they start talking to them they might change their minds they might not. Shakespeare
likes to put the idea about love at first sight in his plays. When
Romeo and Juliet first met each other at the party and fell in love instantly. The instant he saw Juliet
he totally forgot about Rosaline. Romeo said this after he saw Juliet, Did my heart love till now?

Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name. Or, if thou wilt not, be but

romeo when they only met once, and barely know each other. They just fell in love at first sight and
they want to be together for the rest of their lives. Juliet said, Three words, dear Romeo, and good
night indeed. If that thy bent of love be honorable,Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow...
And follow thee my lord throughout the world. All this happening in the story is of them falling in

to differentiate the offerings of small coffee roasting companies. The market for these coffees
exploded in the U.S., as cafes opened with espresso based beverages and companies launched
extensive marketing and branding campaigns. This movement is now spreading back to Europe, where
the café concept originated. In the U.S., where coffee imports total at least 25% of overall global
volume, the specialty coffee market accounted for more than $8 billion in sales in 2002.
As the market for specialty coffees remains consistent in the Americas, significant growth
opportunities exist in emerging markets, including Asia, Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union
– countries not historically known as coffee consumers. Rapid expansion and demand for
inexpensive, specialty coffees in these markets continues. In northern Europe, the coffee market
remains stagnant, but southern Europe offers the best growth opportunities for differentiated coffees.
In Japan, a traditional tea drinking consumer market, coffee demand is slowly growing. In all cases,
access, differentiation, cultural tastes and cost continue to be challenges facing the global market.

Contract Length Is A Contract
A contract is a legal document that tend to create an extended relationship between a buyer and seller
of an output, in which they specifically tend to restrict the buyer and seller to exchange at terms
indicated in a legal document. Also, contracts are also another way to purchase inputs. Moreover,
contract length is mainly depends on the output where it may be short, or lengthy and complicated.
Also, contracts clearly need to state the set of tasks that each contracting party expects the other to
perform. Along with specifying the set of tasks, they also have stated some of the solutions to the
problems in the event where if the buyer or the seller are not able to perform the tasks or able to fulfill
its requirement properly. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A complete contract has each buyer and seller responsibilities and rights for each and every likelihood
that could possibly happen during the agreement as they are very hard and impractical hypothesis that
can take place during those time. One of these disadvantages of these contracts can be that satisfies all
the needs for both the buyer and seller might be time consuming and costly to write, and often legal
fees, which could be drawn up a contract that requires exact commitments of both the buyer and the
seller. Also, it is very difficult for any contract to cover everything that could possibly show up in the
future. Hence, in multifaceted contracting surroundings, contracts will essentially be incomplete, since
incomplete contract does not require to have every little description about the requirements and
responsibilities of the parties. Most incomplete contract occur because complete contract requires a lot
of time and money to finish it. On the contrary, vertical integration is a situation where a firm
manufacture their own inputs that are required to make their final product. In addition, a firm is a
bigger organization where they have to produce its own output and the inputs in order to produce the
output. In a vertical integration there

Bodybuilding And The Subculture Of Bodybuilding
Introduction Bodybuilding is the process that involves development of muscle fibers which is
facilitated through special exercises, increased diet (calorie) as well as having the recommended
amount of rest. I believe that in the current century bodybuilders have formed subcultures that are very
unique in the sense that they have their own values, beliefs as well as traditions that are enshrined
within their cultural provisions.
Description of the Subculture This paper is basically going to look into the subculture of
bodybuilding. The field site will be the local gym where those who are involved in bodybuilding do
train. In most cases, I do interact with the trainees at the local gym and therefore this is indeed a
strategic fit for my research as the environment presumably is friendly. Consequently, these are people
who I have interacted with before and as such they are very friendly. This would really provide me
with an ample time so that I could undertake my research in the best possible way. It is important for
us to understand the subculture that we are to cover. By bodybuilding, I mean the drive that
individuals have so as to maintain the perfect physique as well as ensuring that they have low fat
levels in their bodies. It is true that all that is involved in bodybuilding is hardcore. Most people often
enroll for the bodybuilding so that they could have an appealing physical outlook. Bodybuilding
makes the muscles to expand and as such those involved with the

Basic Concept Of Ballet
The Basic Concepts
A. Definition of a Classical Ballet Company based on the History of Ballet.
To define what in this research is considered as a classical ballet company, first the terms ballet and
classical ballet have to be determined. As classical ballet encompasses a wide range of ballet genres
wherein the classical technique is applied, a definition of romantic ballet, white ballet, neoclassical
and contemporary ballet is appropriate. To come to a clear definition and classification of the different
genres, mentioning their historical evolution is inevitable.
To distinguish classical ballet from contemporary or modern dance, the latest will briefly be described
in this chapter as well.
The word ballet comes from the Italian balletti, a term used in the 15th century for the figure dances
presented at the Italian Court. It is a diminutive of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Already the dances from the sixteenth and early seventeenth century were denominated as ballet, the
ballets de cour, performed by the nobility inside the royal palaces during the High Renaissance in

Reine is considered the very first ballet, ballet masquérade; a form of music and dance without a story
performed by beautifully masked and dressed courtiers, ballet mélodramatique; almost the same as the
ballet comique but with emphasis on the songs, ballet à entrée; court dances presented between meals

Review Of Mid Century Movie Craze Essay
Amanda Falwell Journal Week 1 Mid Century Movie Craze Panoramas created the desire to show
overviews of cities and landscapes and prompted artists to construct more desirable creations. There
were many ways to create a panorama such as using glass plates, prints, swing lens cameras, painting,
and photographs. These machines generally were hand cranked to create motion which tricked the eye
to see a moving object. This article introduced me to John Banvard who was a man that combined
sketches and canvas into large scale moving panoramas. He worked as a scene painter on the
Chapman family s Floating Theater and created dioramic paintings on the boat. Banvard traveled
through Europe to display his innovative exhibits. While on his travel he gave Queen Victoria a
private presentation. We are Here and Not Here This reading establishes the relationship to cinema
and magic or Cinemagic . During the nineteenth century popular entertainment merged science and
technology into stage performances in an effort to fool the eye. The goal was to trick someones vision
with elaborate visual presentations. This imagistic turn demonstrated disappearances and
transformations through the use of mirrors and reflections. In this era performers had control of the
audiences view, they used the illusions to create optical images for entertainment. This chapter
explained pre cinema magic illusions, technological innovations, and cultural optics. I learned that

Research Paper On Mediterranean Diet
The Mediterranean diet, also known Cretan diet or Mediterranean diet is a practice traditional food in
many countries around the Mediterranean Sea characterized by eating plenty of fruits, vegetables,
cereals and olive oil and a low consumption of meat and dairy products.
Several studies show that the Mediterranean diet can:
reducing mortality and morbidity from cardiovascular disease;
reduce the risk of Alzheimer s and Parkinson s disease;
improve the chance of pregnancy during assisted fertilization;
maintaining a healthy brain.
Health Benefits
Its effectiveness is difficult to assess because it is based primarily on observational studies (the plan is
noted for each individual, without anyone trying to change it) and can not be excluded in this case, a
bias in the comparison of several populations. Few interventional studies are of type (the investigator
intentionally alters the habits of a group of patients), but not double blind, this does not exclude a
placebo effect.
Another technique is to compare the future within the same population group following a serious diet
and a group of dropouts. The comparability of these two groups, however, must be carefully tested.
The studies should be used with caution, because outside the Mediterranean area, people on this ...

The NSPCC have published a Provision for young people who have displayed harmful sexual
behaviour (Smith et al, 2013). This provision looks at how local authorities help young people who
have been reported for harmful sexual behaviour. Although harmful sexual behaviour has not been
defined, the interpretation is that the provision is based on young people who need help after causing
harm through sexual behaviour, for example, sexual abuse. It was found that the procedures and
guidelines that support good practice in cases like this do not offer explicit intervention and prevention
techniques, which may cause future issues to occur, such as reoffending. As well as this, the NSPCC
(2016) have released an advice webpage for parents to understand what is normal sexual behaviour for
the ages of 14 16, and what to do if they are worried about certain behaviour. The NSPCC advice page
reassures parents that it is normal for young people aged 14 16 to start exploring their sexual
behaviour privately, as they are going through or have been through puberty. If they seem to have
forceful or aggressive sexual behaviour, this may be a warning sign. If parents are worried, they are
told to speak to their child to try to understand why they are acting this way, or speak to a health
professional for advice. It is also advised that at this age, young people may come across porn online.
However, this may cause distress (NSPCC, 2015). Also, it was found that watching online porn
changed the way 28% of surveyed 11 18 year olds viewed relationships (The Telegraph, 2013). This
suggests that young people may be influenced by what they see online. This is important as the
NSPCC advise parents to keep an eye on their teenagers behaviour, and if they are worried, to seek

Hedging Strategies And Effects On Mncs Valuation
Hedging Strategies and Effects on MNCs Valuation Introduction In the corporate world, the economic
environments that business organizations operate in have over time grown more complex. The global
economic environment has grown to a point where market turbulence and volatility have increasingly
created challenges for firms to be able to forecast their business and earnings against the backdrop of
uncertainties. A direct result of these challenges lies in the methods that organizations utilize financial
vehicles in an effort to offset any unforeseen financial risks that may arise. MNCs utilize various
hedging or arbitrage strategies to stabilize financial earnings or firm value especially when there are
obvious inconsistencies in global exchange movements. This paper contributes to the literature by
providing a new set of data to test the hedging increase firm value hypothesis. Background For a firm,
hedging provides a useful insurance against adverse commodity price movements, and lowers
expenses such as inventory costs. At a broader level, as experiences in several countries have
demonstrated, hedging is a convenient tool to manage the impact of unhealthy commodity price
movements as a result of macroeconomic stability. Finally, there are also a number of convincing
reasons for adopting hedging as a strategic policy instrument many of which go beyond the immediate
need to manage commodity price volatility. It has been theoretically proven and empirically

Religious Freedom in the Workplace
The United States is one of the most culturally and religiously diverse countries in the world. The
founding fathers of the United States wanted to ensure that its people would have the ability to
practice their religion with no threat of persecution. In order to accomplish the goal of religious
freedom and continue to ensure that all people of any religion would be free to practice their religion,
the United States passed Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that prohibits an employer from
discriminating based on the religious views of its employees. As the citizens of the United States
spend a large amount of time in their places of employment, religious practices that these employees
feel are necessary for the true observance of their religion must be accommodated by the employers.
This law contends that in cases where the accommodation of religious practices of its employees does
not create undue hardships, an employer must make reasonable accommodations for employees to
practices the beliefs of their religion. As the demographics of the United States continues to change
with more religiously diverse people immigrating to the country, employers are coming under more
pressure to ensure they are taking all possible precautions to accommodate the religious practices of
its employees. These precautions are important as the once an employee has established a bona fide
complaint of religious discrimination, the burden of proof then falls on the employer to prove they

word trope has also come to be used for describing commonly recurring literary and rhetorical

Richard Nixon employed the same rhetoric in comparing cancer mortality to World War II mortality.

Cancer of which Mary Woodard Lasker was an activist asks Why don t we try to conquer cancer by

Surely the war against cancer has the support of 100% of the people. It is a war in which we lost 21
times more lives last year than we lost in Vietnam last year. A war we can win and put the entire

implying that cancer could be conquered, and diminished public trust in medical science when it failed

Anonymous Sperm and Egg Donation Essay
Anonymous Sperm and Egg Donation
Anonymous sperm and egg donation is a serious topic. Some people think they should remain
anonymous and some do not. A few reasons for becoming known donors are legal rights, medical
reasons, and psychological problems. The parents and donor kids should know where the sperm or egg
came from because it might affect their futures. Medical risks are a huge deal that everyone needs to
be aware of, but especially those who are not sure where they came from. Donor children who do not
know who their donor is or are looking for their biological parent, may grow up to have problems
psychologically. Children have the right to know their biological background.
There are many views on sperm and egg donation. Some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are worse problems than not knowing whom their donor parent is, though. Lots of donor
children grow up not knowing that they have a greater chance of having a medical problem. To
donate, a person does not have to take any certain tests. They just have to show up and if their sperm
or eggs look fine the hospital staff take it. Regardless of socioeconomic status, donor offspring are
twice as likely as those raised by biological parents to report problems with the law before age 25.
They are more than twice as likely to report having struggled with substance abuse. And they are
about 1.5 times as likely to report depression or other mental health problems, said Karen Clark, an
investigator. Not only are donor children more likely to get into problems with the law, they are more
likely to get into problems dealing with their health. That is why donor children and their parents, the
ones who raised them, should be allowed to know who the donor parent is.
Children have a right to know who gave them life because of medical reasons. Some people might
argue that genetic medical problems do not give children the right to know the donor parent because

Trail Of Tears History
The Trail of Tears was a trail often used by Native Americans on their way of escaping the white
settlers during the Indian Removal Act. The group of tribes were called the Five Civilized Tribes. It
consisted of the Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Seminole Nations. The tribes lived on
land in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina and Florida. The land of the tribes were rich in
value. The discovery of gold made the white settlers want the land of the Natives, which was found
near Dahlonega, Georgia in 1928. Trail of Tears originated from a description of the Choctaw nation
in 1831 when the Indian Removal Act began. The trail was known as trail where they cried , which is

Andrew Jackson (from Tennessee) was apart of the Indian Removal. In 1814, he commanded the U.S,
Military that defeated a fraction of the Creek Nation. The Creeks refused to migrate, but the
Chickasaws saw the removal as inevitable and did not resist. Then in 1823, Supreme Court handed
down a decision which stated that Indians could occupy lands with the U.S. but couldn t hold the title
to those lands, which was called the Right of Occupancy . Later in March 1832, a treaty was signed
and opened a portion of Alabama land. The Natives were guaranteed protected ownership of
remaining portion. By 1837, Jackson had removed forty six thousand Natives Americans land east of
Mississippi, which had then opened twenty five million acres of land to white settlement and slavery.
Cherokees used legal means in attempt to safeguard their rights and the Chickasaws were forced to
pay the Choctaws for their right to live on part of western allotment. President Martin Van Buren sent
General Winfield Scott and seven thousand soldiers to expedite the process because some Natives
wanted to stay and fight, they then forced the Cherokees into stockades at bayonet point. In 1907,
Oklahoma became a state and Indian Territory was gone for good. Going back, there were many
Seminole Wars or also called Florida Wars. There were three Seminole Wars and they were the longest
and most expensive Indian Wars in U.S history. Thousands and thousands of lives were lost during the
wars. The first Seminole War lasted from 1817 to 1818. Andrew Jackson s attitude toward Native

A Serious Problem Of Testicular Cancer
A serious problem that exists among the Maori population in some areas of N.Z. is testicular (teste)
cancer. It affects young men from all backgrounds and there is little research on what risk factors there
are. The encyclopaedia Britannica online defines teste cancer as a disease characterized by
uncontrolled growth of cells within the testis, the reproductive organ that produces sperm. Testicular
cancer represents only 1 percent of all cancers in males, but it is the most common malignancy for
men between ages 15 and 35. 1 Whether or not teste cancer is the most serious health problem among
Maori arguable and additional health related problems should be discussed. First of all, testicular
cancer is one of the most crippling diseases creating significant damage on patient and family.
Additionally, the discrepancy between Maori and Pakeha diagnosis of testicular cancer is a cause for
concern. Contrariwise a lack of knowledge on the difference between Maori and Pakeha psychology
and the way Psychologist/Psychiatrist deal with Maori patients. Finally, there is general reluctance for
Maori to seek mental health which leads to difference between diagnosis and treatment.
Firstly, the mental and physical anguish that surrounds testicular cancer is so significant because it is
the most common cancer affecting men between the ages of 15 and 39, but it is not limited to this age
range. However, young men typically do not get a lot of cancer, so overall testicular cancer is a

The Leadership Of Odysseus In Homer s Odyssey
Homer demonstrates leadership through the epic hero character Odysseus by illustrating his
courageous and brave traits on difficult situations. As Odysseus and his crew were facing the sirens,
Odysseus felt power and confidence, enhancing his strategies. When Odysseus s shipmates cowered in
fear of the sirens, Odysseus kept his calmness and gave orders: Get the oarshafts in your hands... hit
these breaking seas... the rudders are your duty... steer for that head land... (1135). Even though
Odysseus s shipmates were given advice about the sirens from Circe, the author explains how the epic
hero Odysseus took control and told his shipmates what to do. Odysseus kept his nerve and wit in
fearful situations because of his natural leader personality. Even ... Show more content on

Opponents say that Odysseus uses his accomplishments to gain fame and glory. However, Odysseus
would have never thought of that due to the dangerous situations he faces that may cost his life. For
example, as Odysseus and his crew were continuing on their journey, they encountered the Sirens who
had lovely voices in ardor appealing over the water made me crave to listen, and I tried to say Untie
me! to the crew, jerking my brows; but they bent steady to the oars (1134). Homer portrays the epic
hero, Odysseus, as the element, victorious from a dangerous situation because the Sirens were
powerful enough to bewitch any men with their voices. Nonetheless, Odysseus followed the advice
given from Circe and secured himself by wrapping his arms around the pole of the boat and covering
the ears of his crew members. Odysseus knew how dangerous this could ve been, but still decided to
risk his and crew member s lives and sail through it. Another reason would be Odysseus s raging pride
that can make others in danger. While this is not entirely inaccurate, he does have an understanding of
the responsibilities it takes to be a leader. For instance, in order to persuade Zeus to help Odysseus,
Athena defends how he fought only to save his life, to bring his shipmates home (1104). Leadership is
displayed in a way when the author references how Odysseus was a brave and unselfish epic hero by
putting his shipmates before him. This could suggest that he cares deeply for his shipmates and feels
responsible if something were to happen to them on his behalf. Critics may have wondered if
Odysseus is truly an epic hero due to his true intentions and how his pride can put others danger, but
his willingness to overcome these tough obstacles and face these kinds of situations is only something

The Ontological And Epistemological Theory
3.1 Introduction
Kumar (2014) defines research methodology as the process used to collect data and information for
the purpose of analysis and decision making. This chapter will discuss the philosophical foundations
of the research which will explain the ontological and epistemological stance underpinning the study.
It discusses the mixed method design and the specific qualitative and quantitative methods adopted
and how these challenges were resolved.
3.2 Research paradigm
Corbetta (2003) defined paradigm as the perception adopted by researchers to inspire and direct a
given science. Similarly, Guba and Lincoln (1994) noted that paradigms shape research in terms of
reality (ontology), knowledge (epistemology) and methods of gaining ... Show more content on

Tolk (2012) added that the positivist approach is characterized by control, replication and hypothesis
testing. These two methods were used to identify the opinions provided by interviewees.
A constructivism approaches to research
According to Bryman (2012), a constructivism approach is an ontological position that asserts that
social actors are continually accomplishing social phenomena and their meanings. This approach
assists the researcher to present a particular version of social reality, rather than one that can be
regarded as definitive.
3.4 Qualitative vs. Quantitative study
To achieve the research purpose, the study employed an extensive research to collect accurate data and
provide elaborate and descriptive data on the governance of sports in Malaysia. According to Creswell
(2013), a quantitative study involves the use of statistical and mathematical computations to analyze
data obtained from the research while a qualitative study uses non numerical methods to gain an
understanding of a phenomenon. A quantitative study allows the researcher to compare the various
variables derived from the study while qualitative study enables the researcher to use primary sources
to obtain data for the research. These two methods were used collectively to provide a suitable
representation of the whole population under consideration and also provide comparative data

A Philosophical Enquiry Into The Origin Of Our Ideas Of...
In A Philosophical Enquiry into the Origin of Our Ideas of the Sublime and Beautiful Edmund Burke
writes, It is the nature of grief to keep its object perpetually in its eye, to present it in its most
pleasurable views, to repeat all the circumstances that attend to it . Burke s writing attempts to clarify
the pictorial, literary, cultural, economic and psychological phenomenon of sublimity, explicating the
ways in which power, vastness, obscurity and beauty intersect to form emotional response. A
Philosophical Enquiry elucidates why so many Romantic poets and writers would make grief,
mourning and death the subjects of their works; the limitless, obscure, infinite theme death
corresponds to the existential, contemplative and introspective ideas Romantic writers were
attempting to interrogate. But the subject of death in Romantic literature transcends the topic of
corporeal death and explores the death of memory, of youth, of innocence and of the past.
Furthermore, the Romantic writers were grappling with a shifting, changing society that caused a
sense of pervasive loss in their works; as artists, authors and the population attempted to navigate a
society characterized by political revolution and technological innovation, poems about mourning act
as almost consolatory works. Amongst this writing which attempts to navigate the subject of grief,
nature is a recurring element. By examining the locations or settings authors used as a backdrop for
their reflections on death

In A Streetcar Named Desire, Blanche evades light as she says off the bat And turn that over light off!
Turn that off! I won t be looked at in this merciless glare. For Blanche, light embodies not only the
truth of her age, but also the reality of her tragic life she attempts to escape through her delusions. She
covers a naked lightbulb with a Chinese paper lantern just as how she wraps truth with lies. Music also
is a prevalent symbolism throughout the play. The most significant piece that is used in the play is the
Varsouviana polka, which plays whenever Blanche is confronted with her tragic past. The music
carries undertones of foreboding disasters that eventually befall her. FInally, the streetcar Blanche rode
on is a symbolism in itself. Blanche says in the first scene, They told me to take a streetcar named

This symbolism foreshadows what becomes of her life when she lives with Stella and Stanley. Her

The group travels through Amphipolis and Apollonia before they reach Thessalonica. Paul, Silas, and
Timothy left Philippi after a riot occurred when Paul drove out a demon from a demon possessed girl.
Luke, most likely, left the group as the narrative is now in the third person. Thessalonica is an old city
revived under the Greek and Roman culture. Today, it is known as Thessaloniki, and a significant city
in Greece. Again, as custom, Paul went to the synagogue of the Jews to proclaim the Word of God.
Luke recorded that Paul, reasoned with them from the Scriptures. This meant that Paul was not only
preaching, but teaching and engaging in discussions with those around him. Paul also was explaining
and giving evidence that Jesus Christ was the true Son of God. It is important for any preacher to
explain the Scriptures. Paul wrote to Timothy and told him to preach the Word (2 Tim. 4:2). Preaching
the Word includes explaining and expounding the Scriptures. Paul is preaching and explaining the
Scriptures and sharing the gospel message. Paul faced opposition from the Jews, who caused an
uproar. Paul proclaimed the gospel, won converts to Christ, and because of his success, faced
opposition. Anyone who proclaims the true Word of God will face opposition. That does not mean one
should stop preaching the Word, but to summon courage to continue to keep preaching the true Word
of God. The unbelieving Jews were enraged at the gospel message and sought to drive

The Byzantine Empire and Western Europe Essay
The Byzantine Empire and Western Europe
The Byzantine Empire and Western Europe originally were part of the Roman Empire, but by the
middle Ages(medieval times), they were very different, even though they did share some common
traits, but by the 300 s, the Byzantine Empire had far surpassed Western Europe in trade and
economics and political unity, while both empires were having arguments over religion.
Despite the collapse of the Roman Empire, Europe still stood, separating into two different areas,
governed two different ways. Western Europe and the Byzantine Empire had very different
government structures. The Western half became Western Europe with popes, and princes ruling at
that time. The Eastern half became The Byzantine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Western Europe triumphed from their princes and the Pope ruling since they soon overcame The
Byzantine Empire. This was because having more than one ruler can hold together an empire or
countries better than one ruler. The princes had control of the government in their areas, and the Pope
had control of the entire religion in Western Europe. Having the Pope and the princes dealing with
separate issues is better than having just one emperor deal with all of their issues. Another difference
of the two halves of Europe was the monasteries and nunneries. Western Europe believed that they
should have both priests and nuns teaching and preaching to other people. The Byzantine Empire did
not feel that nuns were needed in their empire to preach and to teach other people. This was the most
likely cause for the many people in the empire converting to their barbaric enemies religions. If The
Byzantine Empire had used nuns to preach and teach their people, instead of having just priests and
monasteries, the people would not have converted the their enemies. Hence, The Byzantine Empire,
and Western Europe were greatly different than each other.
Though the two halves of Europe were very different than each other, they were also similar in ways
too. For instance, Western Europe had a feudal system in which a land owner gave land to another
person in exchange for military service. The Byzantine Empire had family based militaries in which
they helped each other

Book Review of The Return of Martin Guerre Essay
In The Return of Martin Guerre, one man s impersonation of an heir from an influential peasant family
in the French village of Artigat ultimately leads to his public execution. The tale of Arnaud du Tilh
alias Pansette (meaning the belly ) is full of ironies, not the least of which is his death at the hands of a
man who by some accounts harbored some admiration for the quick witted peasant. Set in a time and
place where a hardly discernible line separated proper behavior from that which was grounds for
death, du Tilh was guilty of more than one serious charge. Yet he was well known as a strong farmer,

Du Tilh knew he had the intelligence to pull it off, and his old life was not holding him back.
There are a few plausible reasons as to why Arnaud wanted a new identity, but why did he go as far as
he did in his impersonation? For one, Guerre s inheritance was larger, but did he happen to know that
when his role began? What started for du Tilh as a simple act of cleverness evolved into an elaborate
charade, a chance to start an entirely new life. Du Tilh didn t only want money, he wanted a fresh start,
a chance to put his skills to good use and force a path for himself. Pansette was moving beyond the
mask of the carnival player and the stratagems of the mere inheritance seeker to forge a new identity
and a new life for himself in the village on the Leze. The thought of a family, as well as a decent
inheritance must have sounded good to the peasant from Sajas. However, the thought of duping an
entire village must have been even more tempting to the prankster Pansette. During his trial at
Toulouse, his suspicion of conjuring spirits to aid his deception came to the fore. The accused seemed
to have an air of magic about him. Trying to take him off guard, President de Mansencal asked him
how he had invoked the evil spirit that taught him so much about the people of Artigat. Coras said he

However, in some way I got fascinated and curious after hearing the orientation and learning the
nature of the work that upon admission almost instantaneously, I picked up the Surgical Technologist
text book and started perusing the pages to get a glimpse of what is ahead.
This is the same in the days after I got registered to run my first event and how I ardently developed
fortitude and a desire of finishing my first marathon that right away, I began researching and reading
information from running publications about doing a marathon.
Eagerness and being resolve are feelings I remember stepping into unfamiliar grounds, or I should say
the open road as a runner and the operating room (mock at the beginning) as a surgical technology
student.
The long stretch of open road and the hills that you must run, mile after mile to build stamina and the
long lectures and instructions both in the classroom and in your clinical site, that you must pay
attention to gain proficiency seems to be daunting at first. But, my enthusiasm grown out of curiosity
and ambition is what drives me; both on the track and in the classroom, to move up to the different
levels of my training and learning.

Mental Illness And Its Effects
Mental illness has always been present, but the views and treatments have drastically changed through
the centuries. In past decades, particularly in and after the 1930s, advances in helping the mentally ill
have increased in this field because of the growth of government funding and medical breakthroughs.
Additionally, society has become more knowledgeable and accepting of the struggles the mentally ill
face; programs and non life threatening treatments have been created since society has become
involved. Today mental illness can be helped and even cured with professional help and medical
attention. Though the world knows more than it did a few years ago, much is yet to be discovered; the
gruesome past of mental illness is still highly present. Mental illness is an uphill battle for all who are
diagnosed, and to understand fully the struggle and persona of the mentally ill, one must look into the
treatments prescribed in the previous century, medical breakthroughs, and treatments of mental illness
today. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the public was looking for fast and easy solutions to
the increasing number of people who were being diagnosed as insane in the American community. As
the mentally ill was already compared to waste , one answer was just to sterilize the insane persons
who were considered unfit to live in society. Starting in 1907 and lasting until 1940, about 18,552
insane individuals would be sterilized in the United States and approximately

The Indian Market Of Mass Consumerism And Debt Based...
Introduction :
The Indian market is not the Western market of mass consumerism and debt based consumption. This
might seem like an obvious thing to say. However, this important fact has determined how the market
has adopted to the new trends seen in the western market.
In this context, it is not surprising that credit cards and online shopping was not easily adopted in the
easy market. People were sceptical of a plastic as money and trusting their information over the
unknown internet. Moreover, shopping is also an intensely personal experience in this culture. The
experience is an important part of the process. This is slowly changing. However, the change in the
online grocery shopping sector is not as fast. People are still hesitant about getting their food through
the internet.
The following points highlights that shows how online grocery shopping is better in the Indian market.
1. No Traffic Problem
The traffic in the Indian cities is notoriously bad. People could be stuck in it for hours even when they
want to travel a few kilometer. Sometimes, the time spent in traffic is more than the time people spend
shopping for groceries. This is unstainable and a big waste of time and thus online grocery shopping
can help people save the time.
2. Savings in Parking Cost
Anybody who has ever lived in any Indian city understand that finding parking especially for cars and
jeeps is more difficult than buying a house. So, to get rid of this colossal hassle online grocery
shopping

Memo of Dollar General
Relevant Economic Trends With the exception of supercenters such as Costco and BJ s, the fastest
growing portion of the overall retail industry in the United States during the past decade has been in
the dollar store segment. From 2000 2005 dollar stores had a compound annual growth rate (CAGR)
of 10.2% which was nearly double the 5.6% CAGR in the retail industry as a whole. Sales from these
discount stores were $24.7 billion in 2000 and were expected to more than double to $51.1 billion in
2009 (Exhibit 8). Two main drivers fueled this growth trend. The first was a cultural shift in
consumers towards a bargain based mentality. This was spurred by an increased presence of retailers
with a low cost strategy including Wal Mart, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They emphasize the use of even dollar prices on most items to conveniently make it easy for
customers to track how much they are spending before they get to the checkout line. This coupled
with their focused assortment of quality goods allows easy in and out shopping and saves the customer
time. DG competes against big box retailers such as Wal Mart through price and convenience rather
than price and selection. The average DG store is 6,900 square feet with about 4,900 stock keeping
units (SKUs) serving customers who live within five miles of the store. The average Wal Mart on the
other hand is over 100,000 square feet containing more than 75,000 SKUs and serves many customers
living more than five miles away. Strategically limiting the number of brands and sizes as well as
purchasing fast turning SKUs gives DG the leverage to negotiate low purchase prices when bargaining
with suppliers based on the higher volume of individual SKUs being purchased. This allows them to
offer competitive prices while achieving price parity with big box retailers selling the same items and
on occasion even beating these competitor s prices. Focusing on both price and convenience also
allows DG to compete and differentiate themselves from other small convenience, discount, and
drugstore retailers who typically focus on either price or convenience but

High School Sports Good Essay
Do you spend more time on your phone, or on the court playing basketball? In today s day and age,
the majority of adults and kids would have answered their phone. Before today s day and age, kids
would play outside as their main source of entertainment. In modern day society all kids will do is stay
inside and play video games and have no form of physical activity. Although sports do have their ups
and downs I guarantee that you will see that the positives of playing sports outweigh the bad. The first
reason to support that sports are helpful for young people is that playing sports in high school reduces
stress as well as increase your confidence. In Katie Couric s Notebook: Kids and Sports, she mentions,
In a study done by the university of Alberta they found that playing sports gives kids confidence.
Sports reducing stress can be attributed to living in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Katie Couric s Notebook: Kids and Sports she explains that during the season kids that play sports
get increased grades. This could be credited to teachers threatening to remove them from the team
among other reasons. On Are High School Sports Good For Kids it further clarifies this by referencing
a study in Michigan that shows that children who participate in sports have increased educational
aspirations, closer ties to school and increased occupational aspirations in youth. It is shown that
sports cause this because when the season ends their marks drop back to normal.
There are exponentially more reasons on why you should play sports in high school than reasons why
should not play sports in high school. Playing sports in high school can range from improving your
grades all the way to preventing heart disease, these along with good coaches and refs makes sports
both enjoyable and fun to play. In conclusion, playing sports in high school is advantageous in a
variety of ways other than exercise and remember to always be a good

Southern Loyalist Defeat In The American Revolutionary War Introduction The purpose of this paper is to identify three factors that contributed to the failure in the British Southern Campaign in the American Revolutionary war. This paper will examine British and American Southern Loyalist defeat in the Battle of Kings Mountain, and discuss assumptions the British made including loyalists support, logistics, and terrain advantage. It is important to study past military actions to identify mistakes and apply lessons learned to current U.S. military operations. (Wicker, 1998) Ferguson decided to make his defensive stand at Kings Mountain with its steep wooded slopes provided a favorable natural defense. The summit was moderately flat and clear, and had an abundance of trees that provided timbers to build wooden barricades. (U.S. Army War College, 1928) Yet, Ferguson despised cutting down trees to use as barricades. (Wicker, 1998) Ferguson thought he had the vantage point employing a 360° degree perimeter defense overlooking down from the crest of the mountain. Campbell received information from the local population that Ferguson had established his camp at Kings Mountain. • 4. The Psychology Of Self Esteem Furthermore, the effects of these awards go far beyond sports and contests. Being awarded at such a young age for just about anything is highly misleading of how the real world works. Many young Americans have developed a sense of entitlement, expecting to gain more in return for less effort. Per a study done by Bernard Goldberg approximately one out of every three college students believes they deserve a B just for attending their courses. This sense of privilege is an almost contagious mind set that has only gotten worse. But many ask how exactly the idea that one should be rewarded for almost anything began? The self esteem movement was developed in 1969 after Nathaniel Branden wrote The Psychology of Self Esteem. The idea Branden proposed was that self esteem is essential to overall success in life. This caused many parents to believe that, if they could start by increasing their children s self esteem they would become more successful in the future. This brought up ideas intended to help children gain more confidence and self worth. For example, all children should receive participation awards so that no child would feel bad for not winning. Consequently, studies have found that children s self image may be negatively impacted by the ideas behind participation trophies and awards. Yet, parents still encourage rewards be given to all children. There seem to be two obvious reasons why parents want their children to receive trophies. One, they are terrified of how ... The establishment of colonies has fostered the creation of distinct buildings purposed to serve different functions. From commercial purposes to something as simple and as essential as shelter, these buildings have been created to accommodate a targeted group of individuals, for not everybody has access to all of these services. There has been an ongoing discourse of whether the use of land is determined chronologically, culturally, or perhaps by some other factor. Of course, this varies from city to city. When comparing Region V of Ostia to the city of Marina in California it is quite captivating how although very different a modern place like Marina is very similar to an ancient one like Ostia when it comes to the distribution of space. Most private schools also have the ability to deny admission and still be able to accept the taxpayer money. Private schools also have the ability to cherry pick students, unlike public schools. As we discussed in recitations, private schools are more likely to choose students in a dual parent household because they believe that those parents are more likely to be involved in school activities. I believe that public taxpayer money should only provide support for public schools that are accountable and open for all people. Review Of Mid Century Movie Craze Essay Amanda Falwell Journal Week 1 Mid Century Movie Craze Panoramas created the desire to show overviews of cities and landscapes and prompted artists to construct more desirable creations. There were many ways to create a panorama such as using glass plates, prints, swing lens cameras, painting, and photographs. These machines generally were hand cranked to create motion which tricked the eye to see a moving object. This article introduced me to John Banvard who was a man that combined sketches and canvas into large scale moving panoramas. He worked as a scene painter on the Chapman family s Floating Theater and created dioramic paintings on the boat. Banvard traveled through Europe to display his innovative exhibits. While on his travel he gave Queen Victoria a private presentation. We are Here and Not Here This reading establishes the relationship to cinema and magic or Cinemagic . During the nineteenth century popular entertainment merged science and technology into stage performances in an effort to fool the eye. The goal was to trick someones vision with elaborate visual presentations. This imagistic turn demonstrated disappearances and transformations through the use of mirrors and reflections. The NSPCC have published a Provision for young people who have displayed harmful sexual behaviour (Smith et al, 2013). This provision looks at how local authorities help young people who have been reported for harmful sexual behaviour. Although harmful sexual behaviour has not been defined, the interpretation is that the provision is based on young people who need help after causing harm through sexual behaviour, for example, sexual abuse. It was found that the procedures and guidelines that support good practice in cases like this do not offer explicit intervention and prevention techniques, which may cause future issues to occur, such as reoffending. As well as this, the NSPCC (2016) have released an advice webpage for parents to understand what is normal sexual behaviour for the ages of 14 16, and what to do if they are worried about certain behaviour. The NSPCC advice page reassures parents that it is normal for young people aged 14 16 to start exploring their sexual behaviour privately, as they are going through or have been through puberty. If they seem to have forceful or aggressive sexual behaviour, this may be a warning sign. If parents are worried, they are told to speak to their child to try to understand why they are acting this way, or speak to a health professional for advice. It is also advised that at this age, young people may come across porn online. However, this may cause distress (NSPCC, 2015). Hedging Strategies And Effects On Mncs Valuation Hedging Strategies and Effects on MNCs Valuation Introduction In the corporate world, the economic environments that business organizations operate in have over time grown more complex. The global economic environment has grown to a point where market turbulence and volatility have increasingly created challenges for firms to be able to forecast their business and earnings against the backdrop of uncertainties. A direct result of these challenges lies in the methods that organizations utilize financial vehicles in an effort to offset any unforeseen financial risks that may arise. MNCs utilize various hedging or arbitrage strategies to stabilize financial earnings or firm value especially when there are obvious inconsistencies in global exchange movements. This paper contributes to the literature by providing a new set of data to test the hedging increase firm value hypothesis. At a broader level, as experiences in several countries have demonstrated, hedging is a convenient tool to manage the impact of unhealthy commodity price movements as a result of macroeconomic stability. The founding fathers of the United States wanted to ensure that its people would have the ability to practice their religion with no threat of persecution. In order to accomplish the goal of religious freedom and continue to ensure that all people of any religion would be free to practice their religion, the United States passed Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that prohibits an employer from discriminating based on the religious views of its employees. As the citizens of the United States spend a large amount of time in their places of employment, religious practices that these employees feel are necessary for the true observance of their religion must be accommodated by the employers. This law contends that in cases where the accommodation of religious practices of its employees does not create undue hardships, an employer must make reasonable accommodations for employees to practices the beliefs of their religion. Then in 1823, Supreme Court handed down a decision which stated that Indians could occupy lands with the U.S. but couldn t hold the title to those lands, which was called the Right of Occupancy . Later in March 1832, a treaty was signed and opened a portion of Alabama land. The Natives were guaranteed protected ownership of remaining portion. By 1837, Jackson had removed forty six thousand Natives Americans land east of Mississippi, which had then opened twenty five million acres of land to white settlement and slavery. • 25. A Serious Problem Of Testicular Cancer A serious problem that exists among the Maori population in some areas of N.Z. is testicular (teste) cancer. It affects young men from all backgrounds and there is little research on what risk factors there are. The encyclopaedia Britannica online defines teste cancer as a disease characterized by uncontrolled growth of cells within the testis, the reproductive organ that produces sperm. Testicular cancer represents only 1 percent of all cancers in males, but it is the most common malignancy for men between ages 15 and 35. 1 Whether or not teste cancer is the most serious health problem among Maori arguable and additional health related problems should be discussed. First of all, testicular cancer is one of the most crippling diseases creating significant damage on patient and family. Additionally, the discrepancy between Maori and Pakeha diagnosis of testicular cancer is a cause for concern. Contrariwise a lack of knowledge on the difference between Maori and Pakeha psychology and the way Psychologist/Psychiatrist deal with Maori patients. Finally, there is general reluctance for Maori to seek mental health which leads to difference between diagnosis and treatment. Firstly, the mental and physical anguish that surrounds testicular cancer is so significant because it is the most common cancer affecting men between the ages of 15 and 39, but it is not limited to this age range. However, young men typically do not get a lot of cancer, so overall testicular cancer is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. The Leadership Of Odysseus In Homer s Odyssey Homer demonstrates leadership through the epic hero character Odysseus by illustrating his courageous and brave traits on difficult situations. As Odysseus and his crew were facing the sirens, Odysseus felt power and confidence, enhancing his strategies. When Odysseus s shipmates cowered in fear of the sirens, Odysseus kept his calmness and gave orders: Get the oarshafts in your hands... hit these breaking seas... the rudders are your duty... steer for that head land... (1135). Even though Odysseus s shipmates were given advice about the sirens from Circe, the author explains how the epic hero Odysseus took control and told his shipmates what to do. Odysseus kept his nerve and wit in fearful situations because of his natural leader personality. Even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Opponents say that Odysseus uses his accomplishments to gain fame and glory. However, Odysseus would have never thought of that due to the dangerous situations he faces that may cost his life. For example, as Odysseus and his crew were continuing on their journey, they encountered the Sirens who had lovely voices in ardor appealing over the water made me crave to listen, and I tried to say Untie me! to the crew, jerking my brows; but they bent steady to the oars (1134). Homer portrays the epic hero, Odysseus, as the element, victorious from a dangerous situation because the Sirens were powerful enough to bewitch any men with their voices. Nonetheless, Odysseus followed the advice given from Circe and secured himself by wrapping his arms around the pole of the boat and covering the ears of his crew members. Odysseus knew how dangerous this could ve been, but still decided to risk his and crew member s lives and sail through it. Another reason would be Odysseus s raging pride that can make others in danger. While this is not entirely inaccurate, he does have an understanding of the responsibilities it takes to be a leader. For instance, in order to persuade Zeus to help Odysseus, Athena defends how he fought only to save his life, to bring his shipmates home (1104). Leadership is displayed in a way when the author references how Odysseus was a brave and unselfish epic hero by putting his shipmates before him. This could suggest that he cares deeply for his shipmates and feels responsible if something were to happen to them on his behalf. Critics may have wondered if Odysseus is truly an epic hero due to his true intentions and how his pride can put others danger, but his willingness to overcome these tough obstacles and face these kinds of situations is only something Odysseus can ... The Ontological And Epistemological Theory 3.1 Introduction Kumar (2014) defines research methodology as the process used to collect data and information for the purpose of analysis and decision making. This chapter will discuss the philosophical foundations of the research which will explain the ontological and epistemological stance underpinning the study. It discusses the mixed method design and the specific qualitative and quantitative methods adopted and how these challenges were resolved. 3.2 Research paradigm Corbetta (2003) defined paradigm as the perception adopted by researchers to inspire and direct a given science. In A Philosophical Enquiry into the Origin of Our Ideas of the Sublime and Beautiful Edmund Burke writes, It is the nature of grief to keep its object perpetually in its eye, to present it in its most pleasurable views, to repeat all the circumstances that attend to it . Burke s writing attempts to clarify the pictorial, literary, cultural, economic and psychological phenomenon of sublimity, explicating the ways in which power, vastness, obscurity and beauty intersect to form emotional response. A Philosophical Enquiry elucidates why so many Romantic poets and writers would make grief, mourning and death the subjects of their works; the limitless, obscure, infinite theme death corresponds to the existential, contemplative and introspective ideas Romantic writers were attempting to interrogate. But the subject of death in Romantic literature transcends the topic of corporeal death and explores the death of memory, of youth, of innocence and of the past. Furthermore, the Romantic writers were grappling with a shifting, changing society that caused a sense of pervasive loss in their works; as artists, authors and the population attempted to navigate a society characterized by political revolution and technological innovation, poems about mourning act as almost consolatory works. Amongst this writing which attempts to navigate the subject of grief, nature is a recurring element. Having the Pope and the princes dealing with separate issues is better than having just one emperor deal with all of their issues. Another difference of the two halves of Europe was the monasteries and nunneries. Western Europe believed that they should have both priests and nuns teaching and preaching to other people. The Byzantine Empire did not feel that nuns were needed in their empire to preach and to teach other people. This was the most likely cause for the many people in the empire converting to their barbaric enemies religions.
