Lizard Research Paper
The lizards Respiratory Function and Procedure for Surgery
Lizards are a unique animal for various reasons, but I find one of these unique qualities to be
especially fascinating. That is the respiratory system and the reptile s spontaneous ventilation rate is
directly related to temperature and partial pressure of oxygen (PO2). Whereas the mammals
respiration is strictly related and driven by carbon dioxide (PCO2). In veterinary medicine this is
something that comes up when it comes time to use anesthesia on a reptile for a surgical or other
procedure in which they will need to be anesthetized. Inhalants are somewhat of a contradiction as the
lizard can hold its breath for long periods of time during the induction phase of inhalant anesthesia, ...

Isoflurane is the accepted inhalant agent of choice for reptiles. Isoflurane is cardiovascular sparing,
has short residual effect, and is readily available, with concentrations of two to five percent the
amount that may be needed. The newer inhalant agent sevoflurane has been evaluated in the desert
tortoise, and appears to be quite safe and short acting. The manufacturer of sevoflurane reports it to be
useful for mask or chamber induction in reptiles as it has less odor and is less irritating than isoflurane.
Attempts to induce anesthesia by mask or chamber induction may often fail, or take a very long time,
due to reptiles ability to become apneic for long periods as discussed earlier. In high oxygenated areas,
the spontaneous ventilation is suppressed as the need for the oxygen is already being made by the
oxygen saturation of the inhalant anesthesia. Lizards experience profound respiratory depression
under anesthesia, and assisted or intermittent positive pressure ventilation (IPPV) is usually a general
procedure needed. Thus being why control of the airway is essential in the lizard when under inhalant
anesthesia. In general, induction of anesthesia with an injectable drug will facilitate intubation.
Intubation is relatively easy for most species of lizards as the glottis is located rather prominently at
the base of the tongue. Endotracheal tubes for reptiles should generally be non cuffed Cole tubes, or

Succinate Dehydrogenase Lab Report
Abstract:
Rat liver cells can be separated and analysed by Subcellular fractionation using homogenisation and
then centrifugation to separate the cells into the subcellular fractions. When the fractions are separated
succinate dehydrogenase is used to identify mitochondria. Succinate dehydrogenase is an enzyme that
catalyses the oxidation of succinate to fumarate in the Krebs cycle and is usually on the mitochondria
inner membrane and not found in other organelles in the cell(Rustin, Munnich, and Rötig, 2002). Care
needs to be taken when separating the subcellular fractions as organelles can be damaged and can
cause lysis giving incorrect results. Regulation of conditions like the temperature and the pH are
important as incorrect conditions could cause the enzymes to denature. Also adding an isotonic buffer
not water will help to avoid damage to cell organelles due to osmotic an imbalance (Greenawalt and
Vasington, 1968). When it comes to measuring the SDH it is measured indirectly because the
succinate dehydrogenase and the fumerate involved in the reaction are both colourless so it is
impossible to measure any changes using a spectrophotometer. Instead the absorbance of formazan is
measured at 490nm. The formazan is produced by reacting the FADH2 from the SDH reaction with
INT which a tetrazolium salt. The formazan produced is red in colour and when dissolved into the
ethyl acetate can be extracted and then read on the spectrophotometer (Smith and McFeters, 1997). As

Homesickness
Not resolving relationship issues
Poor grades/not studying or reading enough
Poor sleep habits
Skipping classes
Wasting time/procrastinating

Common Problems College Students Face Overcoming Adversity
Every college student wants their experience to be memorable, but in the right way. High school
students envision their college years will be full of fun, new social encounters, new experiences, and
fond memories. However, there are also many problems college students face throughout their years
there, and how they deal with them is essential in their academic, emotional, physical, and social
success.
Here are some common problems and some possible solutions for working through them.
Finances One of the major challenges college students face is that of finances. Many students drop out
prior to graduation because they cannot afford the cost. Some have help from parents, others have
financial aid, but still with the rising cost of tuition, textbooks, room and board, gasoline, clothing, and
other necessities, the challenge is often a difficult one to overcome.

Chapter Five Analyzes How The Different Studies, Like...
Chapter five analyzes how the different studies, like retrospective and prospective studies are useful in
clinical studies. To better understand a clinical study first, it is important to take in consideration that
there are key words that we need to read before assuming that a piece of information is statistic
significant. For instance, there is a difference between all the studies that scientists used to determinate
the relationship of a disease status and an exposure. These studies are experimental studies,
randomized, and doubled blind and nocebo effect. I found interesting the nocebo effect, because it is a
new term that I learn. I agree with the author, when he is making the comparison of lung cancer

The reason I am telling this is, because a friend of mine have a medical condition and she has been
trying medications for a while. One of the medications that she was using, make her feel worse. The
side effect that she has been migraine, she tried the medication for one year at different time of the day
to see if this might influence, but nothing work for her. She was under the supervision of the Doctor,
but he told her, she needs to adjust to the medication. My question is this, how long patients need to
suffer before Doctors reports a medication is not working properly? It is unfortunate, that patients
believe in Doctors and some of them threat patients as experiments.
A controversial topic it is discussed in chapter seven, which is the autism spectrum disorder. I work at
a WIC facility, and I have the opportunity to get in touch to many families. One day, I found a
particular case. During the nutritional assessment, one of the questions is, we need to ask the
immunization records, to verify if the vaccinations are updated. When I requested the immunization
records for this particular family, the mother stated, I do not have an immunization records, because
my child does not have immunity. I asked what was the reason? She stated, I am an epidemiologist, I
know the consequences of the immunizations, which could be autism spectrum disorder. She said,

Imagery In The Raven
The Poem, The Raven, by Edgar Allen Poe, is a timeless, and one of the most read, poems in history.
It gives the readers a sense of fear, sadness, and excitement all at the same time. One of the ways that
Poe stimulates the readers emotions is how he uses and symbolizes the Raven in the story. Throughout
history, birds have symbolized hope, light, and freedom. Birds such as an Eagle, who symbolizes
freedom and pride, or a dove that represents peace and love, show how birds bring a sense of good to
a story. Although, I think the Raven brings a sense of sorrow, or loneliness to the story.
In the Raven it states,

In the beginning of the story, the narrator speaks of his lost love, Lenore, and says how he is distraught
over her passing. Succeeding this moment of sorrow, he hears a rapping on his chamber door ( Poe 4)
which causes him to be curious who would be knocking at his chamber door at such an hour. He is
filled with both hope, for the return of his lost Lenore, and terror for whatever he could dream was at
his door. Then in came the raven and perched himself atop his chamber door on top of a statue of the
Greek goddess Athena, who is the goddess of wisdom. For the symbolism of the raven, the narrator
sees the raven as grim, ghastly, and ominous, but gives a new sense of curiosity to the narrator. The
symbolism of a raven is the engaging in mystical and magical arts and gaining and receiving secret
knowledge. Knowing this, it shows how the narrator would be both frightened, and fascinated at the
presence of a mystical bird on his chamber door. Also the statue of Athena symbolizes the wisdom of
the raven to perch on top of it and also adds to the mysterious side of the creature. But there could also
be other reasons why the raven could seem scary and

Social Determinants Of Health Education
Background
Many people assume individual risk factors are the only conditions relevant to their wellbeing of
physical and mental health but in fact, education, along with age, gender, income and many others, has
been identified as one of the most important health promoting factors since people begin to
acknowledge the social determinants of health. Higher education is linked to not only increased job
opportunities, but also more resources that can improve individual s physical and mental health
(Shankar et al., 2013). Lleras Muney (2005) has reported the cause and effect relationship between
education and mortality, proving each additional year of education decreases mortality rate by more
than 3 percent.

Queen V Dudley and Stephens
There are many possibilities and options I could have taken if I were in Dudley s shoes. Murder
Parker, and feed on him; ask for Parker s consent to kill and consume him; take a vote, or a lottery and
then feed on the selected one, assuming there was consensus to the vote or lottery and to its outcome.
However, if I had a choice, there would have been no murder, but perhaps an act of cannibalism, if say
the boy, Parker, died naturally. Using Kant s categorical imperative, I believe that murder, in any way,
aside from self defense, is morally wrong.
Kant s categorical imperative refers to the supreme principle of morality whereby it is morally
essential that we adhere to this principle in all circumstances, independent of whether or ... Show more

Since I have already proven that the killing of Parker was intended murder in the previous paragraph,
this shows that through the murder, Parker s rights to live was deprived. He, being a young boy of
seventeen, eighteen, would have his own aspirations and dreams and he was deprived of that right to
live and fulfill those dreams, just because he was weaker than the other three men. Furthermore, he
was not consulted at all about his death. This will be discussed in the later paragrah. The rights of
human beings therefore, are much more important than fulfilling the happiness of the stakeholders in
this case, the family and friends of the men, the men themselves, the general public, and human right
activists.
In this situation, the four themselves would not want to die. For the three men, their families and
friends would lose a loved one if any of them died. Assuming in those days, the father usually is the
breadwinner of the family, losing him, would thus mean that the family would lose a source of
income, and bread and butter on their table. This may lead to the mother having to work, or in a more
severe situation, the children may have to work as well. Moreover, having a father figure in the family
is important for a home to be wholesome. Losing Parker, on the other hand, will not have such
consequences as he being an orphan would not

The Goals Of Making Life Worth Living
In the society, there are some laurel people, there are some people having lifetime of hardships, but
did not get anything substantial. There are also people living without wondering about the purpose of
life, like the ship into the sea does not determine what direction it goes. Then there are people intent
with very great thoughts but end up with very small business. Success or failure depends on so many
reasons, which mainly features is purpose . Therefore Socrates has stated: the unexamined life is not
worth living . In order to make one s life worth living, this statement strongly addresses the idea that
one must set up his goal to find the meaning and purpose of life.

However, if life has no purpose, people will become passive, weakness and useless, life lost all its

What is trivial purpose ? One who only thinks of personal interests, does well just to achieve results

T. S. Eliot Prufrock Research Paper
T.S.Eliot wrote Prufrock poem six years before its publication in the Egoist 1917. From the first
glance at the poem one can figure out the personal touches of its writer who genuinely described the
days and nights of the places, streets and cities that he had been to. It probably was Eliot himself to
nourish such rich observations from his abundant experience; Mathiessen describes it as Prufrock
seems to spring from Eliot s detached super cultivated fastidious young man from Harvard;
(Mathiessen, 1958, 59).
Despite the fact that T.S.Eliot has called for the impersonality of poetry yet, all the assets in this poem

Political Participation Of Women Essay
Country: Germany Committee: UN Women Topic: Encouraging Political Participation by Women
School: Williamston High School Delegate: Lia Bommarito Throughout history, women were not seen
as equal to men. Even in 2017, marginalization and oppression still persists in many regions and
states. Because of a long history of sexism and institutionalized that dates back to the first functional
societies, women are discouraged from participating in society politically. Oftentimes the political
participation of a group can be measured by active voting, as well as how many parliament seats are
held by women in each country; as of June 2016, only 22.8 percent of parlimentarians were women, a

As for parliament participation, Germany is higher than the world average with a 39.1 percent
participation; but still only ranks number 22 in the world for female parliament percentages. Despite
Merkel s leadership, German sexism in politics still exists; despite the Chancellor being a woman, not
many lower or mid level governmental positions are held by women. Alice Schwarzer, the country s
best known feminist, lends her quote to this issue: Since 2005, little girls can decide: Do I become a
hairdresser or chancellor? While the state of gendered politics and participation may outwardly seem
fantastic, Germany still struggles with uplifting women; the climate for German women in politics is
icy, but warmer than most nations. Germany does not have to deal with fundamental problems, such as
removing all de facto restrictions on women s suffrage, or dealing with assault on women for seeking
education or leadership politically. However, Germany attempts to manage the onslaught of hidden
problems such as a wage gap higher than the European average, lack of political representation in
parliament, and feminist being percieved with a negative connotation. Whether or not Germany must
handle fundamental issues, the international community has many nations still living in the midst of
misogyny. There is no nation that still does not allow women to vote; however,

Barium Sulfate Research Paper
Almost all of the barium consumed commercially is obtained from barite, which is often highly
impure. Barite is processed by carbothermal reduction (heating with coke) to give barium sulfide:
BaSO4 + 4 C → BaS + 4 CO
In contrast to barium sulfate, barium sulfide is soluble in water and readily converted to the oxide,
carbonate, and halides. To produce highly pure barium sulfate, the sulfide or chloride is treated with
sulfuric acid or sulfate salts:
BaS + H2SO4 → BaSO4 + H2S
Barium sulfate produced in this way is often called blanc fixe, which is French for permanent white.
Blanc fixe is the form of barium encountered in consumer products, such as paints.[5]

The accidental discovery of this conversion many centuries ago led to the discovery of the first
synthetic phosphor.[4] The sulfide, unlike the sulfate, is water soluble. Sometime prior to the autumn
of 1803, the Englishman John Dalton was able to explain the results of some of his studies by
assuming that matter is composed of atoms and that all samples of any given compound consist of the
same combination of these atoms. Dalton also noted that in series of compounds, the ratios of the
masses of the second element that combine with a given weight of the first element can be reduced to
small whole numbers (the law of multiple proportions). This was further evidence for atoms. Dalton s
theory of atoms was published by Thomas Thomson in the 3rd edition of his System of Chemistry in
1807 and in a paper about strontium oxalates published in the Philosophical Transactions. Dalton

The issue is whether or not Donald acted lawfully in his actions of shooting the hijackers. Donald did

Comparison Essay On My Truck
My car and my truck are complete opposites of each other on paper, but there are some similarities
they share. The truck is a blue 1974 Chevy C10, and the car is a red 1998 Chevy Cavalier. In my
opinion my car is safer, but the truck is cooler. I will be contrasting the body styles, the safety features,
and the technical differences. I will also be comparing the basic features. First of all, the body styles
are completely different. Well, the truck has a blue body with a body on frame type of construction. It
also has a two piece body, the cab and the bed. The car has a small, red, stream line body designed for
aerodynamics. It has a uni body design, meaning the body and the frame is one thing. body on frame
means that the body sits on the frame and is removable. Secondly, the safety features on the car are
vastly superior to the ones on the truck. The car has breaking points all over its body, so that in a
wreck it will be damaged worse to soften the impact. The truck just has a rigid steel body designed to
stay intact, while that s better for repairs, it s not better for injuries. My car also has airbags, anti lock

is remarkably safer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Why Interest Rates On Fast Loans
Consumers who encounter a financial emergency often need to borrow money, but they typically need
lenders to process their applications quickly. Cash strapped borrowers may not have the ability to wait
a week or more to receive the funds needed to repair the family car, pay for a spouse to visit a doctor
or patch a roof that is leaking. Therefore, they often turn to fast loans online or through a storefront.
Despite their immediate need, many borrowers wonder why the interest rates on fast loans are so high.

challenging factor for lenders to assess. To minimize their risks, lenders put mortgage applications
through a process known as underwriting. During the underwriting process, the lender verifies the
applicant s employment history, income and down payment. The borrower s debts will be evaluated to
ensure that all payments, including the mortgage payment, can be met. The underwriting process also
includes a careful evaluation of the borrower s credit history.
The underwriting process can take days or even weeks, according to FinWeb.com. Although most
people think that lenders only send mortgage applications through underwriting, many banks also
underwrite personal loans, business loans and home equity loans. Underwriting can help lenders
determine the level of risk associated with each loan, but these certainly cannot be considered to be
fast loans.
After evaluating the chances that the borrower will not make timely payments or may default on the
loan, the lender can then assign a risk premium. In the example given in the previous section, the
lender would be able to offer an interest rate of 8 percent plus the risk premium. If the

The Ban Of The Tobacco Advertising
Government involvement is often a subject of controversy and raises questions on when it should and
shouldn t be involved. There can always be a case made either way based on personal viewpoint and
what issue is being discussed; this is no different when looking at the Indian Government s
deliberation over tobacco marketing and the usage of tobacco impacting their economy and
population. The Government of India proposed bans on tobacco advertising leading to arguments for
and against, it is however important to analyze both sides those in favor an those against, and any
conflicts of interest that may be involved.
Taking a closer look at those in favor of the tobacco advertising bans there are several factors to be
considered. The Government of India wasn t the first country to deliberate over such a decision, but
rather was following in the footsteps of countries like France, Finland, and Norway all of whom had
already chosen to enact advertising bans on tobacco. One of the first arguments to be made in favor of
the advertising bans was that the government had the right to step in and protect the overall health of
its citizens citing examples like cocaine, a drug banned the world over . In 1981 in Belgium then 1991
in France court rulings were made declaring that bans on tobacco advertising were in fact not
unconstitutional, as it was based on the need to protect public health, and did not curtail the freedom
of trade . Questions were then brought up regarding what

Transcript Of Ken Ham Vs. Bill Nye Debate
What is so important about science and intellectualism? There are still so many Americans who don t
believe in the fact that science is real or how it explains the truth behind climate change. Science is
essential no matter what anyone does because science is in our everyday life, even if we don t see it. It
is involved in things that are as simple as our phones to how our bodies work, but it s depressing to
see people disagree that climate change isn t happening, or people who still don t believe in evolution.
Intellectualism is another key factor needed for science because it isn t an easy concept to explain the
truth. How can some people be so arrogant about the truth behind science, does it seem too
complicated for people to understand, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scientists has proved many points on how this earth came to be and how life formed. They can show
evidence through many years of research and hard work to prove religion wrong. But they don t want
to prove religion wrong, they just want religious people to accept the fact that science does exist and it
s true. In Transcript of Ken Ham vs Bill Nye Debate describes the arrogance of religious people and
how science is believable though many years of research. As seen in the article Ken Ham would
always deny the fact that science isn t real or true and would always result back to the bible. Ham
focused too much on historical science. As Nye requested of Ham, present your model, make a
prediction, and then let s observe if the data supports. Both evolution and creation models do have a
historical element, but both should also have a predictable observable element. It s like so sad that he
believes only in the bible and not trusting science. Science plays a big role in society because of all the
strange phenomenal it explains. Like, physics and how it is in our everyday life even if we don t notice
it to what is real, what is practical, and how things work. It s true on how science has become a major
part of our lives even if we don t believe in it. People who just believe in their religion and not science

Analysis Of The Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka
Often times, a son may be forced or obligated to do something for their family that doesn t benefit
him. The Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka, explores Gregor s role as a provider in the Samsa family,
and how this role inhibits his progress and freedom. This novella demonstrates how people are
unaware of the situations that confine them, which they have no control over. In Gregor s case, he
remains trapped as a traveling salesman, a job which he dislikes, due to his lack of agency regarding
family responsibilities and potential for social advancement (movement). Only after his
metamorphosis does Gregor realize that his freedom and quality of life have been impeded by his
family obligations and lack of movement. Gregor s obligations to his family result in his inextricable
role as a provider for the Samsas. Because of the large debt accrued by his father, Gregor has been
working for the past five years, and must work an estimated six or seven more years in order to repay
it. During this decade of work, he must give up his own aspirations and individuality in order to
provide for the family. Gregor became a traveling salesman because he felt obligated, or was forced to
reverse the debt, however, he is unaware that his job is a trap from which he will never escape.
Moreover, instead of acknowledging this hidden trap, he feels great pride in the fact that he had been
able to provide such a life for his parents and sister (72). Gregor is too distracted by the fact that he s

What Is The Difference Between Mraeburn And Nothando
Tutor: Tatum Tutorial group number: 47 Second Semester Essay: Question 1 18978991 Lindsay Smit
16 October 2015 In Barbara Mhangami Ruwende s short story Blood Work, the bodies of the two
main characters, Lady Braeburn and Nothando, contain a significant function by depicting
characterisation through the use of the body as an inscription of the characters histories, a symbol of
their previous relationships and depiction of their contrasting lives therefore portraying how these
characters are physically dependent on each other. In this short story the reader is introduced to two
important main characters, Lady Braeburn, who is an elderly woman who can no longer take care of
herself, and Nothando, who is her caregiver. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader is told that Lady Braeburn is a widow as well as a mother of only one child. The reader is
given the implication by Nothando and the previous caregiver, that Lady Braeburn s son, George, does
not have a close relationship with her. This is added to the mystery of her character because the reader
does not know the reason behind their distant relationship. The idea of the reader not knowing as
much about Lady Braeburn as would be expected, is as significant as the things that the reader is
actually given because the mystery of the story is heightened, as well as creating more interest in both
Lady Braeburn s past and the continuing content of the story. She is 96 years old, a treasure trove of
stories that neither I nor anyone else will ever hear. (Mhangami Ruwende 145) The deterioration of
Lady Braeburn s body, could be symbolic of her straining relationship with her son. Lady Braeburn
often cries for reasons which both Nothando and the reader are unaware of. The reader is uncertain of
whether Lady Braeburn s tears are simply crocodile tears in order to seek attention from those around
her, or if she is actually portraying genuine emotion. However, the reader is made to perceive that she
is crying over her past, perhaps she regrets the things she has done in her life which may in turn have
affected her close relationships. Another impression that the reader is given by Nothando is that her

The Horror Of Horror Films
Horror films are alluring to viewers for many reasons. Horror movies have longed to serve a purpose
which is to scare and also provide stories about the dark scary side of life. People watch horror movies
to get scared, for the thrill and most of all plain old entertainment. Three main characteristics of horror
films are according to Maggie McCutcheon is scaring people into creating morals, Stephen King
differs and says that horror films are made to let people s emotion and fears rein free, and Tim Dirks
feels that a film must have certain characteristics for a horror film to be considered good .
Horror films are not only meant to scare you but to also scare you into creating morals. Maggie
McCutcheon discusses in her article Too Disturbing, Too Shocking , that the purpose for horror films
is to scare you into having morals and it tells you how to act which benefits the society. This quote
explains the purpose for horror films according to McCutcheon Despite their gore, they are almost
always moral fables about how to act... , by telling you how to act they teach you main principles of
what good and evil are. What she means by good and evil is that all the gore from horror films
psychologically scares people into having morals and clearly see what is good from bad (1).
In Stephen King s article Why We Crave Horror Movies , he discusses his view on the purpose for
horror movies. In this quote he says, ... horror movies provide psychic relief... which means that

Research Paper On Funtwo
Being phenomenal on the internet can lead to a road of new opportunities. In Lim Jeong hyun case,
also know as Funtwo, he didn t expect to become an internet sensation. After having a video of him
playing an intense rock solo, his video has reached over 12 million views (Bluekeys). Many people
are skeptical if the video is him actually playing the guitar solo. Hopefully, through closely examining
his video and deep research I can figure out the truth.
After close observations I see a very enthusiastic boy who is playing an intense and difficult rock
guitar solo from Pachelbel. Due to his baseball cap you are also unable to see the boy s face, making
him even more mysterious. They way he is moving his hands on the guitar is exceptionally talented.
However, I am not a guitar player so I am not sure if the chords he is playing line up with the actual
notes. Along with his guitar sounds, I can hear a faint sound of other instruments from the actual song
which leads me to believe it might have been tampered with. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

in whether or not someone will believe Funtwo s video. His accuracy and velocity while stringing the
notes is talent itself. If Funtwo is extremely talented, his video would require high level mastery.

Rosemary is another thing that is in gum that helps you remember as well. Natural caffeine creates
energy which gets blood flowing faster which means they can concentrate better.
The ingredients that are in the gum I will be using are peppermint, gum base, sorbitol, mannitol,
maltitol, less than 2% of acacia, artificial and natural flavoring, titanium dioxide(color),sodium
stearate, aspartame, acesulfame, BHT( to stay fresh),and lactose free milk. Peppermint is the main
ingredient in the gum. Kate Morgan from the British Psychological Society says that gum does help
you concentrate. Another source says that gum does help you concentrate because chewing gum
creates more blood flow.
A part in the brain called hippocampus is very important to memory. Hippocampus is the vital key to

A Midsummer Nights Dream Essay
In the comedic romantic play, A Midsummer Night s Dream, by William Shakespeare, four plebeians
are fighting for fate and destiny in the city of Athens, Greece. Hermia, a strong willed young lady,
defies her father s orders to marry Demetrius, another Athenian man, and subsequently runs off to the
woods to marry Lysander. However, when the lovers, Hermia and Lysander, run off, their plans are
disrupted when they are told on by Helena, Demetrius s obsessive lover. At this moment, Lysander,

Lots of feelings between Hermia, Lysander, Helena and Demetrius are not mutual and are only a series
of unconnected lines from one person to another to another. This truly demonstrates the hardships and
complications of true love and how it does not always go as perfect as planned. Many problems arise
because of the mixups between the love juice and the fairies. One such mixup is when Hermia and
Lysander s plans to elope are very suddenly halted when Helena hears of their plans and tells
Demetrius, who decides to see if Helena s rumors are true. Demetrius then goes into the woods,
followed by Helena, to see if it is true, but does not find the lovers, but instead are seen by Oberon.
Oberon, while having love issues of his own with Titania, sees Helena and her obsessive love for
Demetrius, and so makes a plan to help Helena with her love issues. When Oberon, of which is busy
with other tasks, tells Puck to put the supernatural love juice on the eyes of an Athenian man
(Demetrius) so that he will fall in love with Helena, he gladly takes the task. Though since Oberon is
not specific with his directions for the love potion, Puck accidentally puts it on Lysander while he is
sleeping. Consequently, when Lysander awakens he automatically falls in love with Helena. Lysander

mistakes leading to their death, more than likely caused by one of the crackheads in the basement. We

surroundings. Occasionally he would point out a board on the landing space and say, don t step on
that. Meaning, there s a hole there and if you step on that board then you ll fall through. It seemed as
though he was speaking through personal experience. After what felt like one hundred flights of stairs,
we make it to the top of the silos, there was a slight breeze that mingled with the warm mid summer
air. I looked around in awe at the 360* view of Fort Worth. We walked to the edge, sat down and

afternoon. I knew, in that moment, that this would become a regular thing. We made plans for the

Essay on Legalizing Physician-Assisted Suicide
Physician assisted suicide should be a legal option, if requested, for terminally ill patients. For decades
the question has been asked and a clear answer has yet to surface. It was formed out of a profound
commitment to the idea that personal end of life decisions should be made solely between a patient
and a physician. Can someone s life be put into an answer? Shouldn t someone s decision in life be
just that; their decision? When someone has suffered from a car accident, or battled long enough from
cancer, shouldn t the option be available? Assisted suicide shouldn t be seen as cheating death, but as a
way to pay homage to the life once lived. As far as including the mentally challenged in this equation,

government was no big fan of the assisted suicide. It wasn t until the early 1900s that a public survey

survey exploded great debates in courts, institutions, medical journals, etc. Jack Kevorkian was known

his participation, but the public support helped him escape (prolong) his chances in jail. It wasn t until
1999 that Kevorkian was convicted to a 10 25 sentence in jail for first degree murder of Thomas Youk.

The same is also true with the use of slang in conversations. Remember that English might not be all
the team member s first language.
* Listening Barrier
Another type of communication barrier is the listening barrier. Listening is harder than you think. You
have to become an active listener. You need to pay attention to what a team member is saying. If you
do not pay attention in meetings, then you may look like you do not care about what others have to
say. If you are trying to focus on when you can jump into the conversation, it may make you seem
unable to relate to others around you. Once George came in to see me, and I was working on the
financials. I knew he had come in, and I thought I was listening, but I need to get the reports done. He
spoke to me, I must have answered him, but when I finished. I thought back to why George had come
in, and I could not remember. So, I had to go and ask George what he had asked before which was a
little embarrassing. So, I had to figure out how not to have this happen again.
* A Technique that I have found helpful, as I am guilty of not actively listening, is to make sure I focus
on what people are saying. It is difficult to do, as you may want to rehearse what you want to say. If
you use active listening, you should be able to see when there is a pause and be able to jump into the
conversation. I am guilty of having people walk into my office, and because I

Philip K. Werleger Jr., who is a well known energy economists who also wrote in the International
Economy (September 22, 2007) stated that, History may well repeat from 2001 to 2020 as China,
India, and other countries move from developing to developed nations. Consumption can be expected
to increase at a pace close to the rate of the economic growth in these nations, just as it did in Europe,
Japan, and the United States following the Second World War And he also stated that, While these
countries may, through efficiency measures be able to produce more GDP growth with less energy, the
fact is that they are now involved in building massive amounts of new infrastructure and that
infrastructure is energy intensive.
Many more people can suddenly or are or will be living the middle class lifestyle and not to mention

My Virtual Child Experience
The virtual child stimulation is an online program that offers students a feel of what it is like to raise a
child and make parenting decisions concerning that child. Students also learn about the situations that
occur in the three main life stages, and see how their decisions determine how their child will turn out.
The focus of this assignment will be on my virtual child, Jason, the problems that occurred in the life
stages, and the options I chose when raising Jason.
In the Infant/Toddler stage, an incident occurred while we were visiting a relative who owned a pool. I
tried to keep an eye on Jason, but got distracted. I heard a splash, and ran outside to the pool to find
Jason sinking below the surface. I grabbed him and pulled him to safety. I checked to see if he had
swallowed any water, dried him off with a towel, and calmed him down.
After this incident, I was presented with three options. The first option was to speak firmly to him
about staying away from pools so it would make a big impression. The second option was to resolve
to having Jason wear a safety vest whenever he is around pools. The third option was to decide to
enroll Jason in toddler swimming lessons, which emphasize safety, holding your breath, swimming to
the edge of the pool, and holding on. I chose the third option. I felt it necessary to sign him up for
toddler swimming lessons. Studies show that registering your child in a swimming class to learn how

Quotes From The Jamestown S Klallam Tribe
How strong are you? One of my favorite quotes is You never know how strong you are until being
strong is the only choice you have is a quote that might connect to some more than others In all, this
quote represents struggle and the resilience someone has to possess to make it through whatever they
re going through. The Jamestown S Klallam tribe(The Strong People) originated in 1874 near the
eastern end of the strait of Juan De Fuca, which is Northwestern Oregon today .The tribe has always
lived in the upper Washington area where they thrived on the agriculture and wildlife . Soon after
white settlers moved in and pushed the S klallam people out and forced them to relocate. The tribe
then moved to a new community that had all naturally resources called Jamestown, named after James
balch who was a leader within the tribe hints the renowned name. The story of The Mink And The
Wolf , numerous native tales , admittedly can have multiple meanings. Elaine Grinnell s tales range
from urban myths, creative thoughts, animal lore, and fish stories. The story starts with Mink trying to
trick the fish to come to him but wolf took his catch. The mink and the wolf represents the white
settlers taking the land from the s klallam tribe. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mink shares a profusion with the settlers, due to them both being selfish. I made this connection
for the reason that within almost every native tribe, you re considered being malicious by not share or
bragging. The tale is wildly similar to reality based on my insight but researching and looking back at
the text, discloses to me that there are countless approaches when dealing with this

The Problem Of Addiction Among Teenage Addiction
Eight grade, a time of merely adolescence. It has been recorded that by 8th grade 28% of adolescents
have consumed alcohol, 15% have smoked cigarettes, and 16.5% have used marijuana. A drug can be
defined as a something which alters your mind or body that is not food something all of these
substances have in common. As the years go by there has been a massive increase in underage
consumption of illegal substances. These substances which young people are using are known for
being very addictive, and being taken so young addiction is much more likely to occur, possibly
having more severe consequences. Throughout history, a plethora of cultures have contributed to this
problem of addiction which can be seen within their historical roots. The collective perception that
serious drugs could cure almost anything when used for medicinal purposes, was a major ignition to
the overall issue. As more and more countries began to desire these various drugs as they became
more available, the use of drugs spread rapidly through what is known today as the global drug trade.
Through expansion of familiar substances known as coffee, and opium during the earlier centuries, the
concept of addiction has evolved into what our society has become today. Use of drugs or illegal
substances has been a recurring theme over the past centuries. Originally discovered in Yemen, coffee
gradually become a favorite among the people. There were several legends on how exactly coffee
came to be, the two

The Warsaw Pact
The Opposing alliances in 1985 were military alliances in the cold war, the two alliances were the
NATO an anti communism alliance, and the Warsaw alliance is a communism alliance. I agree with
NATO alliance by trying to stop the communism alliances. Warsaw Was a collective defense treaty
among eight communist states of Central and Eastern Europe in existence during the Cold War, led by
the USSR. The Warsaw Pact was the military complement to the Council for Mutual Economic
Assistance, the regional economic organization for the communist states of Central and Eastern
Europe. The Warsaw Pact was in part a Soviet military reaction to the integration of West Germany
the Warsaw alliance isolated itself with an iron curtain in Germany no one could leave or enter.
Although NATO was present throughout the Cold War as the opposite to the Warsaw Pact, joint
military exercises were practiced but no military operations took place. This came after the Cold War
when NATO s influence in a post Cold War rose to prominence in Bosnia where NATO gradually
stepped up their efforts to end the trouble. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But in this case its intimidation of nuclear weapons. Both superpowers of the world, Russia and the
United States had mutual intimidation during the nuclear arms race developed during the Cold War, an
intense period between the Soviet Union and the United States. This was one of the main causes that
began the cold war. On both sides, perceived advantages of the adversary such as the missile gap led
to large spending on armaments and the stockpiling of vast nuclear arsenals. Proxy wars were fought
all over the After the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War when Apollo 17

Becoming A Forensic Psychologist
Have you ever imagined yourself on Criminal Minds or maybe even Law Order? I know I have
visualized myself being a part of those television shows. There is a lot to mentally and physically do
before you can actually become a forensic psychologist. Educational requirements are very precise
unlike the physical requirements. I have always imagined myself becoming a Forensic Psychologists
because I love to help out others. Figuring out why someone has done something terrible or something
very small is important to me. Especially helping out sex victims allows me to find ways to uncover
the truth on why rapists did what they did. Great spirits have often overcome violent opposition from
mediocre minds. Albert Einstein, (1879 1955) Forensic

Poverty Is The State Of Having Little Or No Money
Poverty is the state of having little or no money, goods, circumstance of being poor. One out of seven
people in the United States live in poverty, Approximately 50 million Americans one in six people
struggle with hunger, many are children. How is the U.S. poverty line determined? First established in
1965 by the social security administration, the poverty line was based on an assumption that the
average family must spend about one third of its total income on food. The official poverty line was
determined by a family market basket at low cost food budget that contains a minimum level of
nutrition for a family multiplied by three to allow for nonfood cost such as rent and utilities. At a
poverty line of $1.25per day, more than 1.4 billion people live in absolute poverty which is a condition
that exists when people do not have the means to secure the most basic necessities of life. While
others live in relative poverty that is a condition that exists when people can afford basic such as food,
clothing, and shelter but cannot maintain an average standard of living in comparison to that of other
members of their society or group. The United States has a number of class divisions that are
characterized by widely diverse lifestyles and life chances. Upper class is the wealthiest and most
powerful class, Upper middle class is composed of professional s (ex. Attorneys, physicians). Middle
class are white collar office workers (ex. Teachers, nurses). Working class are considered

The Effect Of Lying Had On Nervous System By Monitoring...
Introduction:
During this study we assessed the effect lying had on the autonomic nervous system by monitoring
galvanic skin response (GSR). We used GSR, a measure of the skin conductivity, as a very basic form
of polygraph test. The electronic conductivity of skin in not held constant. Instead, it changes based on
the current state of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS is comprised of the sympathetic
and parasympathetic nervous system (Gazzaniga and Heatherton, 2015). The sympathetic branch
causes increases in arousal. It controls responses such as pupil dilation, increased heart rate, and
decreased digestive activity that are normally associated with the fight or flight response (Gazzaniga
and Heatherton, 2015). The parasympathetic branch acts in opposition to the sympathetic nervous
system. It lowers arousal and returns the body to normal resting conditions. We believe that the act of
lying will cause the sympathetic nervous system to increase arousal resulting in higher skin
conductivity and therefore larger changes in GSR. As a result, we hypothesize that lying will cause a
larger mean change in GSR height then telling the truth.

The Coherence Theory of Justification Essays
The Coherence Theory of Justification Cohertism is an alternative to foundationalism, cohertism is the
idea that new information is well justified and accepted as knowledge if it coheres (agrees) with our
existing knowledge in a mutually supporting network Coherentism offers answers to some of the
problems that arise with foundationalism, and therefore it offers an alternative or additional means of
justify our belief systems. And in these systems we hold hundreds of beliefs that support each other
coherently. However some beliefs that we hold do not necessary fit with our coherent set of beliefs,
for example I hold that ghosts exist as dead people, however I also belief that when ... Show more

But because my first set of beliefs the (more justified set), is more justified it seems more plausible
which makes me more confident in trusting that set, whereas the second one has little evidence and
justification so I cannot believe that over my more coherent knowledge. But how do my beliefs cohere
with one another, for how can you build beliefs based on another, I believe 2+2=4 but how can that
relate to the greenness of grass, and if you are using beliefs to justify others couldn t it just be one big
circular argument that self prophises a whole set of beliefs based a pon itself. And is it really sensible
to reject one set of beliefs simply because of the amount of beliefs I have in another, as the smaller
one could still be true and the evidence more valid than the first. But on the plus side it does seem that
most people in everyday life seem to go with whats most coherent and reject ideas that don t fit, so it
seems sensible to suggest that this is how we aquire knowledge and the system that we keep it in. It
also serves as a good alternative to foundationlism as foundationlism can seem too simplistic and
doesn t explain how beliefs at the top of the pile can justify the bottom. Evaluate the claim that
perceptions are caused by material objects. Been the logical person that I

Vitamin C Essay
A question that is commonly asked when receiving a virus is, what is the fastest way to get rid of it?
No human enjoys the presence of a common cold, despite more extreme terms such as the flu. Rest
and fluids are typically the first reaction to curing a common cold. Then, medicine that is categorized
toward the symptoms is received. Although, how do you speed up the process? Many think that the
intake of large doses of vitamin c can speed up or potentially get rid of the cold all together.
Vitamin C is very essential to our bodies. Vitamin C helps the body to maintain its collective tissues.
This also includes our bones, blood vessels, and skin. Vitamin C is scientifically known as L ascorbic
acid. The vitamin is a water soluble vitamin that can be found in several fruits and vegetables. Vitamin
C can also be found as a dietary supplement. It is essential for our bodies to have some source of
vitamin C intake. Vitamin C is required for the biosynthesis of collagen, L carnitine, and certain
neurotransmitters; vitamin C is also involved in protein metabolism. Collagen is an essential
component of connective tissue, which plays a vital role in wound healing. Vitamin C is also an
important physiological antioxidant [3] and has been shown to regenerate other antioxidants within the
body, including alpha tocopherol (vitamin E). (1) The overall body intake for vitamin C runs to a high
of 2g. Lower amounts of vitamin C can be found in areas such as eyes, pituitary gland, and

Odysseus Newspaper Article
The next morning, Alcinous rose Odysseus and led him to the Parliament Square. Athena, in the shape
of the king s herald, went around the city telling the people to come to the parliament to hear about the
stranger that showed up at the palace the previous day. Soon the whole square was full of people.
Alcinous introduced Odysseus to the crowd and said Odysseus had asked him to help Odysseus to get
back to Ithaca. Alcinous asked the crowd for 52 oarsmen and for them to prepare a boat and when they
had finished that, to come back to the palace.
When they were all back they feasted. After their meal they listened to the minstrel tell famous stories
about famous people. The first song they listened to was the Choral of Odysseus and

  • 2. Lizard Research Paper The lizards Respiratory Function and Procedure for Surgery Lizards are a unique animal for various reasons, but I find one of these unique qualities to be especially fascinating. That is the respiratory system and the reptile s spontaneous ventilation rate is directly related to temperature and partial pressure of oxygen (PO2). Whereas the mammals respiration is strictly related and driven by carbon dioxide (PCO2). In veterinary medicine this is something that comes up when it comes time to use anesthesia on a reptile for a surgical or other procedure in which they will need to be anesthetized. Inhalants are somewhat of a contradiction as the lizard can hold its breath for long periods of time during the induction phase of inhalant anesthesia, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Isoflurane is the accepted inhalant agent of choice for reptiles. Isoflurane is cardiovascular sparing, has short residual effect, and is readily available, with concentrations of two to five percent the amount that may be needed. The newer inhalant agent sevoflurane has been evaluated in the desert tortoise, and appears to be quite safe and short acting. The manufacturer of sevoflurane reports it to be useful for mask or chamber induction in reptiles as it has less odor and is less irritating than isoflurane. Attempts to induce anesthesia by mask or chamber induction may often fail, or take a very long time, due to reptiles ability to become apneic for long periods as discussed earlier. In high oxygenated areas, the spontaneous ventilation is suppressed as the need for the oxygen is already being made by the oxygen saturation of the inhalant anesthesia. Lizards experience profound respiratory depression under anesthesia, and assisted or intermittent positive pressure ventilation (IPPV) is usually a general procedure needed. Thus being why control of the airway is essential in the lizard when under inhalant anesthesia. In general, induction of anesthesia with an injectable drug will facilitate intubation. Intubation is relatively easy for most species of lizards as the glottis is located rather prominently at the base of the tongue. • 4. Succinate Dehydrogenase Lab Report Abstract: Rat liver cells can be separated and analysed by Subcellular fractionation using homogenisation and then centrifugation to separate the cells into the subcellular fractions. When the fractions are separated succinate dehydrogenase is used to identify mitochondria. Succinate dehydrogenase is an enzyme that catalyses the oxidation of succinate to fumarate in the Krebs cycle and is usually on the mitochondria inner membrane and not found in other organelles in the cell(Rustin, Munnich, and Rötig, 2002). Care needs to be taken when separating the subcellular fractions as organelles can be damaged and can cause lysis giving incorrect results. Regulation of conditions like the temperature and the pH are important as incorrect conditions could cause the enzymes to denature. Also adding an isotonic buffer not water will help to avoid damage to cell organelles due to osmotic an imbalance (Greenawalt and Vasington, 1968). When it comes to measuring the SDH it is measured indirectly because the succinate dehydrogenase and the fumerate involved in the reaction are both colourless so it is impossible to measure any changes using a spectrophotometer. Instead the absorbance of formazan is measured at 490nm. The formazan is produced by reacting the FADH2 from the SDH reaction with INT which a tetrazolium salt. The formazan produced is red in colour and when dissolved into the ethyl acetate can be extracted and then read on the spectrophotometer (Smith and McFeters, 1997). As ... It gives the readers a sense of fear, sadness, and excitement all at the same time. One of the ways that Poe stimulates the readers emotions is how he uses and symbolizes the Raven in the story. Throughout history, birds have symbolized hope, light, and freedom. Birds such as an Eagle, who symbolizes freedom and pride, or a dove that represents peace and love, show how birds bring a sense of good to a story. In the beginning of the story, the narrator speaks of his lost love, Lenore, and says how he is distraught over her passing. Succeeding this moment of sorrow, he hears a rapping on his chamber door ( Poe 4) which causes him to be curious who would be knocking at his chamber door at such an hour. He is filled with both hope, for the return of his lost Lenore, and terror for whatever he could dream was at his door. Then in came the raven and perched himself atop his chamber door on top of a statue of the Greek goddess Athena, who is the goddess of wisdom. For the symbolism of the raven, the narrator sees the raven as grim, ghastly, and ominous, but gives a new sense of curiosity to the narrator. The symbolism of a raven is the engaging in mystical and magical arts and gaining and receiving secret knowledge. Knowing this, it shows how the narrator would be both frightened, and fascinated at the presence of a mystical bird on his chamber door. Also the statue of Athena symbolizes the wisdom of the raven to perch on top of it and also adds to the mysterious side of the creature. However, if I had a choice, there would have been no murder, but perhaps an act of cannibalism, if say the boy, Parker, died naturally. Since I have already proven that the killing of Parker was intended murder in the previous paragraph, this shows that through the murder, Parker s rights to live was deprived. Furthermore, he was not consulted at all about his death. This will be discussed in the later paragrah. The rights of human beings therefore, are much more important than fulfilling the happiness of the stakeholders in this case, the family and friends of the men, the men themselves, the general public, and human right activists. In this situation, the four themselves would not want to die. For the three men, their families and friends would lose a loved one if any of them died. Assuming in those days, the father usually is the breadwinner of the family, losing him, would thus mean that the family would lose a source of income, and bread and butter on their table. This may lead to the mother having to work, or in a more severe situation, the children may have to work as well. From the first glance at the poem one can figure out the personal touches of its writer who genuinely described the days and nights of the places, streets and cities that he had been to. It probably was Eliot himself to nourish such rich observations from his abundant experience; Mathiessen describes it as Prufrock seems to spring from Eliot s detached super cultivated fastidious young man from Harvard; (Mathiessen, 1958, 59). Even in 2017, marginalization and oppression still persists in many regions and states. Because of a long history of sexism and institutionalized that dates back to the first functional societies, women are discouraged from participating in society politically. Oftentimes the political participation of a group can be measured by active voting, as well as how many parliament seats are held by women in each country; as of June 2016, only 22.8 percent of parlimentarians were women, a slow increase from the measured 11.3 percent in 1995, and ... Alice Schwarzer, the country s best known feminist, lends her quote to this issue: Since 2005, little girls can decide: Do I become a hairdresser or chancellor? While the state of gendered politics and participation may outwardly seem fantastic, Germany still struggles with uplifting women; the climate for German women in politics is icy, but warmer than most nations. It has a uni body design, meaning the body and the frame is one thing. body on frame means that the body sits on the frame and is removable. Once risks are evaluated, however, the interest rate will rise. How Greater Risks Affect Interest Rates on Fast Loans Borrowers are individuals with different circumstances, which has always made the risk premium a challenging factor for lenders to assess. To minimize their risks, lenders put mortgage applications through a process known as underwriting. During the underwriting process, the lender verifies the applicant s employment history, income and down payment. The borrower s debts will be evaluated to ensure that all payments, including the mortgage payment, can be met. The underwriting process also includes a careful evaluation of the borrower s credit history. The underwriting process can take days or even weeks, according to FinWeb.com. Although most people think that lenders only send mortgage applications through underwriting, many banks also underwrite personal loans, business loans and home equity loans. Underwriting can help lenders determine the level of risk associated with each loan, but these certainly cannot be considered to be fast loans. After evaluating the chances that the borrower will not make timely payments or may default on the loan, the lender can then assign a risk premium. There can always be a case made either way based on personal viewpoint and what issue is being discussed; this is no different when looking at the Indian Government s deliberation over tobacco marketing and the usage of tobacco impacting their economy and population. The Government of India proposed bans on tobacco advertising leading to arguments for and against, it is however important to analyze both sides those in favor an those against, and any conflicts of interest that may be involved. Taking a closer look at those in favor of the tobacco advertising bans there are several factors to be considered. The Government of India wasn t the first country to deliberate over such a decision, but rather was following in the footsteps of countries like France, Finland, and Norway all of whom had already chosen to enact advertising bans on tobacco. One of the first arguments to be made in favor of the advertising bans was that the government had the right to step in and protect the overall health of its citizens citing examples like cocaine, a drug banned the world over . In 1981 in Belgium then 1991 in France court rulings were made declaring that bans on tobacco advertising were in fact not unconstitutional, as it was based on the need to protect public health, and did not curtail the freedom of trade . The Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka, explores Gregor s role as a provider in the Samsa family, and how this role inhibits his progress and freedom. This novella demonstrates how people are unaware of the situations that confine them, which they have no control over. In Gregor s case, he remains trapped as a traveling salesman, a job which he dislikes, due to his lack of agency regarding family responsibilities and potential for social advancement (movement). Only after his metamorphosis does Gregor realize that his freedom and quality of life have been impeded by his family obligations and lack of movement. Gregor s obligations to his family result in his inextricable role as a provider for the Samsas. Because of the large debt accrued by his father, Gregor has been working for the past five years, and must work an estimated six or seven more years in order to repay it. During this decade of work, he must give up his own aspirations and individuality in order to provide for the family. Gregor became a traveling salesman because he felt obligated, or was forced to reverse the debt, however, he is unaware that his job is a trap from which he will never escape. This is added to the mystery of her character because the reader does not know the reason behind their distant relationship. The idea of the reader not knowing as much about Lady Braeburn as would be expected, is as significant as the things that the reader is actually given because the mystery of the story is heightened, as well as creating more interest in both Lady Braeburn s past and the continuing content of the story. She is 96 years old, a treasure trove of stories that neither I nor anyone else will ever hear. A drug can be defined as a something which alters your mind or body that is not food something all of these substances have in common. As the years go by there has been a massive increase in underage consumption of illegal substances. These substances which young people are using are known for being very addictive, and being taken so young addiction is much more likely to occur, possibly having more severe consequences. Throughout history, a plethora of cultures have contributed to this problem of addiction which can be seen within their historical roots. The collective perception that serious drugs could cure almost anything when used for medicinal purposes, was a major ignition to the overall issue. As more and more countries began to desire these various drugs as they became more available, the use of drugs spread rapidly through what is known today as the global drug trade. Through expansion of familiar substances known as coffee, and opium during the earlier centuries, the concept of addiction has evolved into what our society has become today. Use of drugs or illegal substances has been a recurring theme over the past centuries. Originally discovered in Yemen, coffee gradually become a favorite among the people. The Warsaw Pact The Opposing alliances in 1985 were military alliances in the cold war, the two alliances were the NATO an anti communism alliance, and the Warsaw alliance is a communism alliance. I agree with NATO alliance by trying to stop the communism alliances. Warsaw Was a collective defense treaty among eight communist states of Central and Eastern Europe in existence during the Cold War, led by the USSR. The Warsaw Pact was the military complement to the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance, the regional economic organization for the communist states of Central and Eastern Europe. The Warsaw Pact was in part a Soviet military reaction to the integration of West Germany the Warsaw alliance isolated itself with an iron curtain in Germany no one could leave or enter. Although NATO was present throughout the Cold War as the opposite to the Warsaw Pact, joint military exercises were practiced but no military operations took place. • 47. Poverty Is The State Of Having Little Or No Money Poverty is the state of having little or no money, goods, circumstance of being poor. One out of seven people in the United States live in poverty, Approximately 50 million Americans one in six people struggle with hunger, many are children. How is the U.S. poverty line determined? First established in 1965 by the social security administration, the poverty line was based on an assumption that the average family must spend about one third of its total income on food. The official poverty line was determined by a family market basket at low cost food budget that contains a minimum level of nutrition for a family multiplied by three to allow for nonfood cost such as rent and utilities. At a poverty line of $1.25per day, more than 1.4 billion people live in absolute poverty which is a condition that exists when people do not have the means to secure the most basic necessities of life. • 48. The Effect Of Lying Had On Nervous System By Monitoring... Introduction: During this study we assessed the effect lying had on the autonomic nervous system by monitoring galvanic skin response (GSR). We used GSR, a measure of the skin conductivity, as a very basic form of polygraph test. The electronic conductivity of skin in not held constant. Instead, it changes based on the current state of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS is comprised of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system (Gazzaniga and Heatherton, 2015). The sympathetic branch causes increases in arousal. It controls responses such as pupil dilation, increased heart rate, and decreased digestive activity that are normally associated with the fight or flight response (Gazzaniga and Heatherton, 2015). The parasympathetic branch acts in opposition to the sympathetic nervous system. It lowers arousal and returns the body to normal resting conditions. We believe that the act of lying will cause the sympathetic nervous system to increase arousal resulting in higher skin conductivity and therefore larger changes in GSR. As a result, we hypothesize that lying will cause a larger mean change in GSR height then telling the truth. Methods: Participants Two undergraduates (1 male, 1 female) from Grinnell College took part in this experiment. Students were asked to participate as part of their Introduction to Psychology course. Participants were randomly assigned to three similar assessments. Participant A took part in two assessments, the blue and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. The Coherence Theory of Justification Essays The Coherence Theory of Justification Cohertism is an alternative to foundationalism, cohertism is the idea that new information is well justified and accepted as knowledge if it coheres (agrees) with our existing knowledge in a mutually supporting network Coherentism offers answers to some of the problems that arise with foundationalism, and therefore it offers an alternative or additional means of justify our belief systems. And in these systems we hold hundreds of beliefs that support each other coherently. However some beliefs that we hold do not necessary fit with our coherent set of beliefs, for example I hold that ghosts exist as dead people, however I also belief that when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But because my first set of beliefs the (more justified set), is more justified it seems more plausible which makes me more confident in trusting that set, whereas the second one has little evidence and justification so I cannot believe that over my more coherent knowledge. But how do my beliefs cohere with one another, for how can you build beliefs based on another, I believe 2+2=4 but how can that relate to the greenness of grass, and if you are using beliefs to justify others couldn t it just be one big circular argument that self prophises a whole set of beliefs based a pon itself. And is it really sensible to reject one set of beliefs simply because of the amount of beliefs I have in another, as the smaller one could still be true and the evidence more valid than the first. But on the plus side it does seem that most people in everyday life seem to go with whats most coherent and reject ideas that don t fit, so it seems sensible to suggest that this is how we aquire knowledge and the system that we keep it in. It also serves as a good alternative to foundationlism as foundationlism can seem too simplistic and doesn t explain how beliefs at the top of the pile can justify the bottom.
