A Report On Virtual Private Network Essay
Statement of problem:
The primary aim of this project is to keep VPN safe which also means keeping our information and
credentials safe.As of now the working principle and the protocols related to VPN i.e Virtual private
network is understood.VPN is considered to be invisible and impenetrable by most of its users and the
organizations providing this service till date but the research carried on by NTA monitor Ltd. shows
that these VPN s are the weakest point in their perimeter.VPN s are the most attractive targets for the
hackers. There are many flaws in VPN services which can give a hacker, a lot of information about the
users of VPN.Virtual Private Networks carries themuch sensitive information over an insecure
network. Most of the users believe VPN s keep their information secure that is what VPN s are there
in market but its is shocking that VPN s also have remote exploitable vulnerabilities through which
one can gain an unauthorized access to the Network or can alter the traffic in the Network etc.
One such problem which is there in Virtual Private Networks is USER NAME ENUMERATION
VULNERABILITIES.Most VPN use IKE i.e Internet key exchange aggressive mode with an
authentication method. The authentication method used in this case is PSK i.e Pre Secured Key
authentication. PSK authentication method is a well known authentication scheme but sometimes
terminology may differ for e.g username may be interchanged with ID or Groupname and password

Singapore s Economic Growth And Political Stability
Founded as a British trading colony in 1819, Singapore later joined the Malaysian Federation in 1963,
but separated two years later and became independent. Over the years, Singapore has grown its
international trading links becoming one of the most prosperous countries. Singapore has been
compared to the leading nations of Western Europe when it comes to its per capita gross domestic
product (GDP). Singapore has one of the world s busiest ports when comparing most tonnage handled.
After officially gaining sovereignty in 1965, the People s Action Party (PAP) has dominated Singapore
s politics. With a large amount of government controlled companies in the local economy, and its
powerful position, Singapore s government has maintained a clean, corruption free image. With their
dealings with communists during the early years the PAP s governing philosophy is best described as a
Socialist Democracy. Maintained by the paternal guidance of the PAP, came Economic growth and
political stability. Even though bureaucrats not politicians administer Singapore, meritocracy is power,
which is gained through performance, skill, and loyalty to the policies of the nation. The Constitution
of Singapore is the Supreme law. With the constitution for the three organs of the state (Executive, the
Legislative, and the Judiciary), It lays down the fundamental principles and framework for them to
operate.. The only way the constitution can be amended is with the approval of more than two thirds

Bruno Bettelheim s `` Punishment Versus Discipline ``
Bruno Bettelheim is one of the most influential child psychologists who lived in the 20th century.
Bettelheim s writings and theories cement his reputation as one of the most influential psychologists
by teaching parents the proper way of raising their child. His ideas and writings also establish his
prestige by revolutionizing the way in which psychologists treat children with mental health issues. He
changes the way in which mentally ill children are treated by promoting milieu therapy as an
alternative method of healing these children. His ideas are relevant today because they assist school
and educational institution in dealing with the problem of bullying. His works allow psychologists and
educators to understand the bully s actions and the victim s responses, thus assisting them in solving
the problem of bullying. This essay summarizes and provides a deep analysis of Bettelheim s works
and ideas with the aim to explore how his ideas help schools to deal with the problem of bullying.
Bettelheim s article Punishment Versus Discipline analyzes the toll that punishment has on children.
Bettelheim explains to the parents that through violence they inspire their children to use their power
to intimidate others by imitating the behaviors that were inflicted on them previously. He also tells the
parents that using physical punishment does not deter their children from committing the action and
that it can encourage them to become devious or untrustworthy (NP). This

The Relocation And Imprisonment Of Japanese Americans...
The relocation and imprisonment of Japanese Americans during World War II has been and always
will be a dark stain in American History. Due to America s lingering racism and prejudices, many of
our fellow Americans had to experience an ordeal that no other American should ever have to face.
They lost their homes, businesses, land and more importantly, their freedoms, during a moment of
time that was filled with resentment, mistrust, fear and hatred towards a fellow man (American) that
was just as willing to fight and die for their country.
On December 7, 1941, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. The next day, the United States and Britain
declared war on Japan. Two months later, on February 19, 1942, the lives of thousands of Japanese
Americans were dramatically changed when President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order
9066. This order led to the assembly and evacuation and relocation of nearly 122,000 men, women,
and children of Japanese ancestry on the west coast of the United States. (1)
It is interesting to note that, despite the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Japanese Americans in Hawaii were
not imprisoned in a large scale as they were stateside. Of the total Japanese American population in
Hawaii which made up nearly 40% of the population of Hawaii itself, and a large portion of the skilled
workforce only a few thousand people were detained. (2) The fact that so few Japanese Americans
were incarcerated in Hawaii suggests that their mass removal on the West Coast was

loss. The authors state this in the title of her book about the many millions of individuals affected by
hearing loss. Hearing loss isn t confined by age. The author developed her hearing loss at the early age
of 30 but the significant onset of adult hearing loss occurs between the ages of 19 and 44. People
usually think that hearing loss only affects the older generation, but we learn that it can affect

Coupe Research Paper
A car similar to the style sedan is the coupe. A coupe is a two door vehicle with a very small backseat,
these cars a typically fast. Most super cars, Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, Porsche, and a few others,
are classifies as coupe. However, not all coupes are fast, they also make them in smaller size engines
for fuel economy. These cars that have the smaller engine from a distance look the same as the bigger
more powerful version of the car. Up close you can tell some small details such as certain decals,
exhaust, or even some aero dynamic features. Coupes are very lightweight and very aero dynamic.
They are known for sometimes having the massive V8 engine. With the coupes light weight body and
massive motor it makes them very quick. Another lightweight vehicle is the motorcycle, they weight
anywhere between five hundred and eleven hundred pounds. Motorcycles do not have any doors, two
or three wheels, and can seat at the most two. There are many manufactures that produce different
types of motorcycle, such as Harley Davidson, Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Honda. The different types of
motorcycle are sport, cruiser, and chopper is the most common type. A sport bike is really lightweight
with a relatively big engine. Cruisers are mid weight to heavy and are designed to travel longer
distances. Choppers are heavy, loud, and typically have handlebars above the shoulders. These
vehicles are also known for their small gas tanks along with their tremendous gas mileage.

Philip Freneau And Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Summary
Life was a prominent subject in nineteenth century literature. Poems, books, and even everyday
conversations contemplated the topic. From exploring its meaning, its purpose, and its impact,
individuals were obsessed with it. Two such pundits were Philip Freneau and Henry Wadsworth
Longfellow. They accepted the challenge and broached the subject of life in their poetry. Their
perspectives, however, were anything but concurrent. By focusing on Freneau s The Wild Honey
Suckle and Longfellow s A Psalm of Life the authors contrasting views become exceptionally clear.
While one valued humility and acknowledgment of human fragility, the other sought to spark ambition
and enliven a sense of dutiful perseverance. Paying close attention to the time frame in which each
author wrote is also significant in identifying the reason behind such differing perspectives. Not only
does the era play a part, but also each writer s personal beliefs and values. Freneau was extremely
realistic and literal; Longfellow was optimistic and indicative. Taking an in depth look at each author
respectively and analyzing their contrasting opinions as well as their reasoning facilitates a deeper
understanding of not only the writers but the works themselves. If one thing is agreed upon, it s that
life truly is short; however, its purpose is entirely subject to opinion. Philip Freneau possesses a very
stark view on man s existence, harping upon the insignificance of human life in his poem, The Wild
Honey

Short Story Gryphon By Charles Baxter
In the short story Gryphon by Charles Baxter, it starts out with Mr. Hibler, a boy named Tommy and
his 4th grade class teacher, getting sick and needing Miss Ferenczi as a substitute. Miss Ferenczi
basically abandons the lesson plan and just talks and talks about very interesting things in place of
having class, even going so far as to bringing in a tarot pack to tell the class fortunes on the last day.
Though Tommy liked Miss Ferenczi, other classmates were upset with her, so she then gets fired and
the class spends the afternoon with Mrs. Mantei s class for science. In the story, Tommy was shown to
have defended Miss Ferenczi. I think this is because she was a change from Tommy s usually boring
life. In lines 468 485 and 621 626, Tommy s mother tells him to do chores and ignores his excited talk
about Miss Ferenczi, which implies that Tommy has routine chores to do daily, and is kind of bored of
them. Because he was so used to coming home to a list of chores every single day and having a
routine schedule, he was excited to have something new, Miss F, and wanted to keep it that way,
therefore defending her. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

fortunes, Tommy started out thinking she was crazy, but then began liking and respecting her, and
even defending her. This shows that Tommy didn t like things in a steady, boring routine, and that he
defended Miss F because she wasn t like that, but rather was

Mental Skills Are A Huge Struggle For So Many Athletes Essay
Mental skills are a huge struggle for so many athletes, and that is because of lack of knowledge not
only from players, but coaches. With lack of knowledge coaches don t instruct their players on how to
use mental skills and the benefits of it. As a coach of a recreational youth girls soccer team, it is my
job to teach and prepare the girls to play at a higher level, whether it be club or high school, but
ultimately just beyond rec soccer. At 10 and 11 years of age, teaching them how to cope with anger, or
direct negativity into positivity, or any other mental skill, is crucial at this age because they are still
getting down the physical skill. Learning these psychological skills will help them as they grown into
more competitive athletes and better people outside of sports. Usually a PST is not made for athletes
until they are around the college level, but this can benefit children as well. The main goal of creating
this program outline is so that once the athletes have gotten more familiar with it and psychological
skills, they will be able to self regulate and mentally achieve their personal goals on their own.
Before beginning, each athlete needs to have an evaluation and be told the process. Ask each athlete
after explaining if they have any mental goals of their own before implementing one for them. Even
though the athletes that I am talking about specifically are young and won t quite understand fully, it is
important to tell them what is going on. In addition to

Disruptive Behavior Classroom
Disruptive behavior in the classroom
Over the years at work I have noticed that disruptive behavior of students is a big challenge and a
frequent problem that teachers have to address in their classrooms. For those who are involved in
education know that teachers on a daily basis have a high amount of demands like improve test
results, successfully teach to students with diverse needs, and raise ability to serve all students, often
with minimum resources and support. Consequences of several national Gallup polls evidently
document that both the general public and teachers be in agreement that a major dilemma for public
schools is lack of students discipline in classrooms (Elam, Rose, Gallup, 1996; Rose Gallup, 2003,
2004). It is very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If teachers do not stop immediately a disruptive behavior in the classroom, this may be a beginning of
a future problem for the learners. I have noticed in my school, that teachers who do not tolerated any
disruptive behavior in any place at school like in their classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, and cafeteria,
those classrooms run very efficiently. In the other hand, teachers that I have seen who tolerated
disruptive behavior at the same places the classroom is totally

Tardigrade Research Paper
Although animals have adapted to many different environments, there is one that trumps them all: the
tardigrade. Commonly called water bears and sometimes moss piglets, tardigrades are able to endure
many environmental stresses, such as dehydration and extreme temperature changes (Herkewitz).
They can even survive in space (Herkewitz)! This essay will prove that the tardigrade is the most
resilient animal on earth and give a glimpse into the everyday life of a tardigrade.
Tardigrades have been known to survive in environments that would kill nearly any other organism.
One such environment is outer space. Space combines many elements that would individually
terminate the life of almost anything; however, an experiment conducted by a team of ... Show more

When a tardigrade becomes a tun, it loses 97 99% of its body s water, and its metabolism slows to
0.01% of its ordinary speed (Herkewitz). Some of its cell contents are replaced with trehalose
molecules, a type of sugar (Herkewitz). They also coat themselves with large amounts of glassy
molecules produced by proteins unique to tardigrades (Crew). An abnormal amount of antioxidants
are produced to defend against reactive oxygen species, dangerous molecules that irradiate particles
containing oxygen (Herkewitz). There are four key types of cryptobiosis that tardigrades undergo:
anoxybiosis, cryobiosis, anhydrobiosis, and osmobiosis ( Tardigrades! ). The most common form is
anhydrobiosis, the type of cryptobiosis tardigrades go through when their body does not have enough
water to function as it usually does ( Tardigrades! ). This allows tardigrades to survive long droughts.
Of course, droughts are not the only problem water bears face. Tardigrades have been subjected to
many tests by scientists, and they took different forms depending on the test. Tardigrades will enter a
stage called cryobiosis that lets them survive extreme temperatures ( Tardigrades! ). When there is a
lack of oxygen that threatens a tardigrade, it will go into anoxybiosis ( Tardigrades! ). Thanks to this,
tardigrades do not need oxygen to survive in outer space. The final cryptobiotic form tardigrades can
enter is called osmobiosis ( Tardigrades! ). Osmobiosis is the least studied of all cryptobiotic forms
and occurs when there is an increase in the concentration of a solute in the water a tardigrade lives in (
Tardigrades! ). One example of osmobiosis would be if salt was poured into the water in which a
tardigrade was

Comparing Ovid s Metamorphoses And The Bible
When we look at creation myths throughout history and across religions we can see many similarities
drawn but also many differences. Close ties can be seen between Ovid s Metamorphoses and Genesis
in the Bible as well differences between the latter and the Aztec story of creation. These myths can be
contrasted on their themes and moral s demonstrated, the divine intervention that takes place, and type
of creation myth it is. When looking at the myths through those aspects we can see key resemblances
between the myths such as the evolution of the world and its people and this shed s light onto the
civilisation of origin.
In Ovid s Metamorphoses we a world created by the gods that is filled with plant and animal life all of
which is ruled by man. Four stages follow this creation each darker and more savage than the last. The
gods, outraged by the impiety, cover the world with a massive flood. With only two surviving figures

Much like in the Metamorphoses the inhabitants are disobedient and are exiled forced to populate and

perfect world. Each god is superseded when their version of earth fails by another who wipes it cleans
and starts over. Again four ages pass and we now live in the fifth age waiting for the earth to be again
wiped clean.
All of the creation myths have a purpose and similar central themes and moral s that set out to educate
those who believe them. In Ovid s metamorphoses, Genesis and briefly in the Aztec creation myth a
similar theme is created and that is problem of evil that man brings upon the

Globalization Vs Neorealism
Globalization is the intensification of networks of interdependence at multi continental distances. It is
the idea that actions in one area of the world affect different areas in the world. The argument, though,
is whether or not globalization is occurring, if countries are dependent or interdependent. When
turning on the news today, one might see more on whats going on in Russia or North Korea than in
their own backyard. This is an example of Globalization. By examining it through Neorealism, one
can better understand its prevalence. Neorealism primarily centers on the importance of the structure
of the international system when explaining the events in international politics. It states that a state s
position in the international system determines its actions and behavior. The father of Neorealism,
Waltz, stated in the Journal of Politics and Society that, different international relation structure permit
and cause the units of a system to change their behavior and produce different outcomes (Waltz p.4).
If that be the case, then Globalization is at the center of politics. The theory of Neorealism itself
defends the argument that Globalization is occurring; one state s capabilities directly affects another s
actions. To better understand this one must accept that the international system s ordering principle is
anarchy, the idea that there is no higher authority or world government. This creates an almost self
help kind of atmosphere for all of the world

The Global Supply Chain Network
Executive Summary
The global supply chain network is often faces challenges in many directions. Currently the
environmental issues and the exhaustion of natural resources leads to complications and become the
prime factors which affects the cost, time and effort in global logistics and supply chain management.
An analysis of the Montreal based Cirque de soleil is done with various factors and criteria for
evaluation of the key issues. The key issues are distribution complexities, increasing transportation
cost, production inefficiency, delivery lead times and logistics partnership strategies. The objective is
to streamline the global supply chain network by redesigning the existing system with new integrated
model using CPFR (Collaborative Planning Forecasting and Replenishment). This concept is
effectively supported by the SAP System which integrates the demand management, better sales
forecasting, effective distribution and timely replenishment.
The analysis results with the identification of locations for the new distribution model and
substantiated with the rationale of site selection considering all criteria s. The implementation and the
SAP integration describe the action plans and come out with the pros and cons of the proposed supply
chain system. And finally concludes with the pros and cons of the new system. The objectives of the
key issues are resulted with the solution but the on the other side the strategic changes in the

The Selfish Grandmother In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
Flannery O Connor sets up the story in a way that characterizes the grandmother as socially awkward,
causing her to stand out from everyone else. In the beginning, the grandmother attempts to convince
her son, Bailey, to take the family to Tennessee to visit some of her connections for vacation instead of
Florida solely because she did not want to go. Attempting to scare Bailey into changing his mind, she
brings to his attention an article about the Misfit, an escaped criminal heading in the direction of
Florida. Shortly after leaving Atlanta, the family passes Stone Mountain and the grandmother
strategically writes down the mileage of the car in excitement for the upcoming arrival. This is a

Ironically, the grandmother has a conversation with the children telling them that they should be
morally good people by listening and showing respect. In the article The Selfish Grandmother in A
Good Man is Hard to Find, the critic writes, The grandmother has just been lecturing her
grandchildren concerning respect , respect for native states , for parents , and for everything else , then
she immediately reveals her essential self by calling the boy a cute little pick ninny (Maing Alston).
Her attempt at demanding and teaching the grandchildren to be morally good people when she is not
even one herself, is an epic failure. Children tend to pick up and adapt behaviors based on what the
older figures in their life act out so as a grandmother, she does not do a good job at leading by
example. When June Star observes a child with no pants on, the grandmother explains that little
niggers in the country don t have the things we do (O Connor). She believes everything back in her

Summary
In the well written article Stubborn Skills Gap in America s Work Force, the author Eduardo Porter
describes how fictitious the idea of workers in America really is. When asking President Obama which
country develops and breads the most skilled work force he said hands down the United States.
Obama s direct words about the work force were more productive than any on earth and they build
better products than anybody else. Even the less boisterous Republicans were sure American workers

However, Americans skills are still in the same place and have not gotten stronger or shown any sign
of trying to improve. The demand for better education and stronger skilled applicants is constantly
growing in all advanced nations, but the supply for this demand is not coming from the United States.
Regardless of the lack of supply provided by America, their highly skilled workers who do exist earn a
much larger wage premium than unskilled workers in all other advanced nations. To summarize today
s economy; the American labor market is good at attracting talented foreigners, offering them more
money than they make elsewhere. This is not the way to improve the education and skill level of
workers in America but it s a solution for companies to sustain their business process and continue to
generate revenue. If they can hire 3 people from another country for the same salary as one American,
it makes sense from a business standpoint to be more productive for less money. The United States
was the first country to provide for universal high school education but now 1 in every 5 high school
students leave without a diploma. Across the board America is below other nations as far as education
and development in the work place, not only are there minimal qualified applicants for jobs but when
they do get hired

Florence Nightingale Had A Big Impact On The Math World
Florence Nightingale had a big impact on the math world. We still use what she contributed today in
the medical field and in the classroom. She not only made an impact in the math world but also for
women s rights and in the medical field during the Crimean War. Florence had an interesting early life,
from begging her parents to study math to choosing to become a nurse. She is an example of how you
should never give up on your dreams and how you should not let other people tell you what you can
and cannot do. Florence was born on May 12th, 1820 in Florence Italy, which is where she got her
name. Her parents were William Edward Nightingale and Frances Nightingale Nee Smith. She had a
sister named Frances Parthenope, also named after the place in which she was born. They were an
upper class British family at the Vita Colombaia. They had three homes one called Embley,
Hampshire, and Lea Hurst. In 1838 Florence met Mary Clarky, Clarkey was a stimulating hostess who
did not care about what she looked like. Clarkey had no respect for upper British women. She mostly
spent her time around male intellectuals as opposed to the company of women. Clarkey demonstrated
that women could be equal to men. This is an idea that Florence s mother and sister did not support.
Clarkey and Florence became close friends. In 1840 Florence begged her parents to let her study
mathematics. Her mother did not support her wishes and instead wanted her to marry and for her to
perform home duties. Her

And Disadvantages Of A Separate Army
INTRODUCTION
Joint warfare and separate military have their advantages and disadvantages, the benefits of the war
force joining together and forming a separate and single unit.
BENEFITS OF JOINT WARFARE The benefits of joint forces to forming a single unit includes all
the members i.e. service members having the tactical knowledge, understanding and the operational
procedures and capabilities of each unit that will be joint together. They also reduce casualties in
mission that they go to due to the joint understanding of each unit. Joint warfare and units of forces
allows the forces to be able to adapt to new and modern patterns of war. During the war, an
opportunity to grab and have an understanding of the war and the tactics and not just the individual
war departments or unit where they will have different deals and tactics which may in turn not have
any synchronization in the pattern of execution. The joint unit can handle different aspects of war like
the Navy, Air force separately through the air, the military on the ground, and all working at the same
time together will reduce the time of operation and make it faster. Joint forces would also be

OSTREATUS MUSHROOM
ABSTRACT:
Edible mushrooms have attracted a great attention due to their nutritional, as well as medicinal
properties. In the present study, different mushroom species were extracted partially purified and their
endopolysaccharides
(extracted from the fruiting bodies) as well as exopolysaccharides (extracted from the filtrate of
cultured mycelia) production were determined to evaluate their anti tumour and anti oxidant effects.
The present results showed that
Pleurotus ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide has the maximum intracellular production as compared
with the other studied mushrooms.
Different mushroom s endo and exopolysaccharides inhibited the proliferation of
Ehrlich tumour (EAT) cells in vitro; however, P. ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide exhibited the
maximum anti tumour effect. Moreover, P. ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide showed the maximum
scavenging activity compared to the scavenging effects of the control ascorbic acid.
Pre treatment of different concentrations of P. ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide to EATbearing mice
markedly decreased the number of
EAT cells one week after incubation in the abdominal cavity of mice in a dose dependent manner, and
reduced the size of solid tumour in the thigh muscle of mice as measured morphologically and

Marine Debris Research Paper
What is Marine Debris?
Every potato chip bag thrown on the floor, every balloon released into the air, and every gum wrapper
discarded on the sidewalk has an affect on our planet. In the short term we view these acts as
miniscule and irrelevant, but what most of us fail to understand is that every act of pollution has a
snowball effect that only harms us and our environment. Unfortunately, most of the plastic waste we
throw on the floor ends up on our beaches, in our waterways, and in our oceans. Especially in Florida,
where everyone is at most 45 mins from the beach, it is not difficult for trash to find its way to our
oceans. Marine debris, ocean trash or ocean pollution, regardless of its many names the rhetoric still
stands; every piece of litter has a ripple effect that ultimately makes it to our oceans.
What are the challenges with Marine Debris? Causes: The causes for Marine Debris are not very
complicated. Any man made object that intentionally or unintentionally ends up in our oceans is
considered marine debris ( Trash pollution, 2015) . This can be cigarette buds, plastic containers or

Pine Island Glacier is the Largest Sheet of Ice on Earch
Pine island Glacier is an enormous stream of ice flowing west northwest along the south of Hudson
mountains into the Amundsen Sea in Antarctica. This ice sheet is the largest chunk of ice on planet
Earth having a volume of a water equivalent to 57m of the global sea level. Hence, this basin has the
largest net contribution of ice to the sea in the world. In the past few decades, the pine island glacier
has been melting at an irreversible rate. Studies show that the ground line of the glacier has retreated
10 kilometres and is in the process of touching a 40 kilometre retreat. The glacier has been losing
approximately 20 billion tons of ice each year for the past quarter of the century and is estimated to
lose four times the ice in the coming quarter.
As said by a glaciologist with France s Grenoble Alps University, Gael Durand, the glacier has started

It has played a significant role in the rise of the global sea level. It is predicted that at this rate, the

The Age Of The Vampire
The Age of the Vampire From Literature to Twilight, Vampires have been in the public eye for
decades. The characteristics may change as will the looks but they have the same amount of
popularity. It all started in 1897, the writings of Bram Stoker gave the world the story of Dracula. This
story is considered the source material for all vampires to follow. Many of the characteristics laid out
in Dracula can still be easily found in current vampire movies. Though there was never a golden age
for vampire movies, as it is a subgenre for film, it did greatly participate in the golden age of horror
films, giving greatly to the popularity of horror films. This popularity still demands a very active hold
on film goers today. Bela Lugosi is the poster child for the character of Dracula. He set the tone for
what a good vampire in the 1931 film Dracula. After Lugosi, Christopher Lee is the next person
credited with the popularity of vampire movies. Lee has starred in 10 separate movies as Count
Dracula, the quality of the movies and Lee s prior acting credits gave way to the resurgence of Dracula
in the mid 1900 s. All of these credits however mean nothing in the world of film without the movies
that kicked everything off, Nosferatu, the 1922 film keeps true to the book Dracula. This allowed a
new archetype to come to the world of film. This archetype however, has undergone dramatic changes
over the decades. From Nosferatu to the new release of Dark Shadows, change has clearly

John Marshall s An Argument About A Marriage
1) To what does the term event sequence film refer, and where and why was this developed? In your
response provide at least two examples of this filmmaking practice. The term event sequence film
refers to a work of cinema which is centered around a single discrete event from beginning to end, as
opposed to focusing on abstract concepts or impressions (MacDougall 126). This style of film was
developed initially at the Harvard Film School by Timothy Asch and John Marshall to represent the
daily lives of its subjects, which in turn, attempts to exhibit the ethnography of a place or culture. A
pioneering event sequence film is Marshall s an Argument About a Marriage (1969). Although the

Although it is a common practice, it is not the only way to construct an ethnographic film. In Night
Cries:a Rural Tragedy, creator Tracey Moffatt departs from traditional ethnographic realism by adding
elements of fantasy and exaggerated representation to her production. The film itself is not a live shot
documentary, but attempts to represent a different form of truth through piece of fiction with a script
and set. Despite its lack of placement in legitimate history, Night Cries still represents an ethnography.
Similarly, Leviathan (2012) does not attempt to showcase a cultural story. Using unconventional
camera shots and sci fi like effects, it exhibits an ethnography in a nonlinear way which exaggerates
its violent and haunting qualities. The producers of these films may have diverged from ethnographic
realism because traditional tendencies tend to depict ethnography as though it were stagnant and
exotic. By using contemporary and non objective forms of filmmaking, they aimed to represent a
genuine ethnographic experience, even if the genuine experience never actually occurred within the
culture s

Functional Behavior Analysis
When faced with the challenge of altering a behavior, it is important to understand the components
which surround the behavior. Identifying those things which serve to motivate the individual to
continue engaging in, or not engage in, a behavior; what triggers it; how to define it; how often it
occurs and under what circumstances; are just a few of the questions which need to be answered in
order to effectively plan for change. Behaviors are generally learned and maintained through positive,
negative, or automatic reinforcement, and in the provision of these reinforcing effects, the behavior
serves a function with which to achieve them. Through the completion of a functional behavior
assessment one can systematically gain the information necessary to form a hypothesis as to why the
behavior is occurring, test the hypothesis, and develop a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A functional behavior assessment is systematically completed in three consecutive steps. Initially,
information is gathered through indirect assessments via interview, self reports, and those who know
the person well. This serves to define the behavior, provide background information, as well as
provide information about when the behavior is more likely or unlikely to occur and what
environmental variables might influence its occurrence. After this is completed, the professional
conducts a descriptive assessment during which observations are conducted in the natural environment
as a step toward determining a true functional relationship between the behavior and controlling
factors. This is done through the use of observational recording formats such as: ABC assessments,
time sampling, interval recording and structured descriptive assessments. A functional analysis is the
final part of the functional behavioral assessment during which the hypothesis is tested through the

Centervale Police Patrol
All police departments grapple with the challenge of allocating their limited resources to meet to meet
law enforcement needs of the communities they serve. Crucial to alleviating the cost pressures the
departments face is patrol force allocation. Most of the budgets go to salaries and expenses, such as
fringe benefits, which mean that increases in personnel utilization efficiencies would result in dollar
savings. As such, it is the duty of police chiefs to determine what the patrols will look like regarding
when and where the patrols will take place. This paper, thus, seeks to outline how the Centervale
Police Department should allocate patrol resources to best serve the needs of Centervale.
Patrols are meant to eliminate criminal opportunities by creating an impression of presence in the
community. However, patrols do not decrease an individual s desire to break the law but by
diminishing the opportunities to commit crime, they promote a sense of safety to residents. As the
assistant chief in the Centervale Police Department, CPD, one would develop a strategy that caters for
both sides of the railroad tracks with fairness although with an emphasis on the crime prone north.

Random preventive patrol strategies aim to increase visibility in the community to deter crime and
reduce the general public s fear of crime. However, this method of patrols is ineffective at
apprehending offenders. Directed patrols in Centervale would use hot spot policing approach by
increasing the presence of uniforms in the northern side of the railroad tracks, where crime is most
prevalent at night. However, that would come at price to the south side since the residents of the south
of railroad tracks contribute more to the town s taxes. The assistant chief would have to use the money
coming from the south side for crime deterrence in the north to prevent migration of criminals to the

Are The Ewells Lazy And Irresponsible
The Ewells are a vile and hateful family that is an outcast in the town like the Radleys. If the Ewells
are two things they are lazy and irresponsible as well as mean. I will start with the Ewells laziness and
irresponsibility. First of all, the Ewell family has not earned a dollar themselves and it shows. The
Ewell kid at school was filthy with cloth scraps for clothes. The second reason they are lazy and
irresponsible is that they do not go to school unless they threatened by the sheriff to go. Even when
they are threatened by the sheriff they only go to the first day of school and then never again until next
year. The third and final reason is that they are walking trash heaps. The Ewell kid at school was so

The Problem with Potholes Speech
SPEECH PURPOSE:
General purpose: To inform my audience how pot holes are formed and what they can do to help fix
them.
Specific purpose: To inform my audience how pot holes are formed in Chicago, due to the climate.
And what Chicagoans can do to help fix them by using the city s free on line service.
INTRODUCTION
I. (Attention getter):
According to the Chicago tribune s website, in 2011 alone, 600,000 potholes were repaired, filled, or
resurfaced by the city of Chicago. If this is divided in to a 40 hour work week, that averages out to
1,640 potholes a day (200 + potholes an hour) or 3 potholes a minute
II. (Listener relevance link): Potholes are a nuisance to automobile drivers, bicyclist, and yes even
walkers alike. Many of us travel through Chicago using at least one of these means to go to work, a
social event, or at the very least school, This year s spring is expected to have more potholes than
recent years. This is largely due to the large amount of Chicago s temperature fluctuation this winter
season.
III. Your experience/background with the topic (speaker credibility statement):
Having lived in Chicago my whole life and from my 6 years of driving, I can speak from experience
when I say there is not a neighborhood that does not have potholes. According to Summit County s
engineer s website, potholes are most commonly formed during spring due to the change in
temperature.

Conflict Theory
Conflict theory is the theory that human behavior in social contexts is the result of conflicts between
competing groups, as different social groups, be they class , gender or race defined, have unequal
power and access to power, yet all groups compete for limited resources. This inevitably gives rise to
tension and conflict, albeit often of the subtle variety, as oftentimes the conflicts between groups have
been institutionalized in society to such a degree that the conflicts and tensions are such an expected
part of society that the conflict, and inequality, itself disappears from public sight, and consciousness.
For example, an adherent of a world systems theory of conflict would point to the global competition
for resources, particularly the inequality between rich and poor nations struggling to provide the basic
necessities of life to their inhabitants, as evidence of global conflict. Conflict theories seek to explain
the interactions of groups within society, and assert that social order is preserved involuntarily through
the exercise of power one social class holds over another (Lindsey, 2010, 7). The conflict between
groups is not always obvious or apparent, so it must be unraveled and examined in order to identify
and establish the impact of such conflict on society as a whole, as well as individual members and
social groupings. Feminist conflict theory is concerned with the role and status of women in society,
particularly within the context of analyzing gender

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Beeswara
Apply a moisturizer or a conditioner to retain alligator leather s natural oils and compounds and
maintain its luxurious appearance and texture. Beeswax is a good conditioner for this type of leather.
Use cleaning products that are specifically formulated for alligator leather. The wrong chemicals,
especially those in cowhide leather cleaning agents, can do more harm than good by darkening the
leather and damaging its skin.
Just like human skin, alligator leather can manifest adverse reactions to cleaning products. When using
a formula for the first time, test it on a small, inconspicuous area first to check for staining and other
negative reactions.

One coat of wax or polish at a time is generally enough.
Apply a stain and water protector.
To be added under ADVANTAGE OF CAIMAN SKIN heading:
As we have mentioned earlier, caiman leather is relatively cheaper compared to crocodile and alligator
leather. This does not mean that caiman skin is of inferior quality, though. Part of the reason caiman
leather is more affordable is that caimans are not as hard to find. There are farms where caimans are
grown specifically for their skin.
The fact that caiman leather is not as soft or pliable as crocodile and alligator leather does not make
caiman skin low quality. In fact, its rigid body is highly ideal for boots, handbags, and other items that
need to hold their shape.
Also, although caiman leather has smaller tiles, it does have deeper ridges that give it more character
and personality. The Hornback, for instance, is favored by some manufacturers and designers because
of their distinctive scales, which add to the final product s appeal.
Finally, caiman leather has a rich history behind it. Back in the 30 s and the 40 s, it became a popular
raw material for women s handbags, briefcases, and small

Sex Slaves From The United States
f the world. It is the largest source of sex slaves sent to the U.S. Young girls and women are kidnapped
by men who trick, threaten and seduce them into working in the sex trade. The Pimps most of the time
threatens to kill their families and/or children. Pimps seduce and make these young girls fall in love,
then those boyfriends or fiancés pretend they are taking these girls to meet the parents then just kidnap
them. Women get tricked the most by promising a good paying job maybe in a different city or even in
a different country. With them wanting a better paying job or future they agree on taking the job not
knowing they will be forced to prostitution. Some women are forced to see 30 to 60 men a day, some
clients being police men. With clients being police men, the women believe they have no one to run to
for help. They feel trapped thinking of the danger they can put their families in and knowing they can t
trust anyone to help them. Only 17 of the 3,000 to 5,000 pimps in Tenancingo were convicted in
Mexico between 2010 2013. There are an estimated 20,000 trafficking victims in Mexico every year.
A kidnaper knows that they can sell a bag of drugs only once, but they can prostitute a young woman
many times a day. Many families in Mexico are taking extreme measures and have the woman hide in
secret shelters and homes when they hear traffickers doing a raid, which is when a trafficker snatch
women in the town. Women in these targeted towns feel like the best thing you can

Baseball, Baseball And Softball
When it comes to Baseball and Softball, these two sports have many similarities, but yet differ in
many areas of the game. It insists, Softball is often referred to baseball for girls, with a larger ball and
aa smaller diamond (History of Softball). Even though there may be some truth about that statement, it
doesn t mean that s the only difference between the two. When it comes down to it, both sports have
specific field requirements, equipment, rules and future occupations. Baseball has special field
requirements for the different levels of baseball. The general levels of baseball include little league,
pony, high school, college, and professional. Even though high school, college, and professional are
different levels of baseball they have almost the same field regulations. The baseline is the distance
between bases, each base is exactly 90 feet apart from one another in a diamond shape and there is
four bases total. The pitcher s mound has to be 60 feet 6 inches away from home base. From home
plate to the backstop needs to be about 60 feet. The outfield consists of three sections; left field, center
field, and right field. The left and right field can be from 320 feet up to 350 feet, while center field can
be up to 400+ feet away from home plate (Frazier). These are the general regulations every baseball
field needs to acquire before becoming a legal baseball field for high school, college, and professional
players to be able to play on. There are many little

How to Deal with Temper Tantrums
Children are the bundles of joy of each family. Having a child in a family means laughs, jokes,
playing, and a fun time with this child. No matter how bad the day was, as soon as parents see their
child smiles, they forget all about the bad day, and smile back at their child. In fact, some parents wish
to stay 24 hours with their children to enjoy their first smiles, first laughs, first words, and first steps.
For most of them, all their time with their children is enjoyable, except one particular time. When
children throw tantrums, when a child whines, cries, screams, throws him/herself on the floor, and
maybe runs out of the house with no known reason, most parents wish not to be in their child s
presence because of the screaming. Parents, in order to overcome these tantrums, deal with their
children in many different ways. However, the question remains asked over years: What s the best way
to deal with toddlers tantrums?
Some parents react to a tantrum with yelling and spanking the child to force him/her to stop crying,
but the more the parent yells, the more the child cries. In an interview with Cathy W, a mother of a
two and half boy, she states about her son, When Jove throws a tantrum, I used to respond to that by
yelling and him, and even spanking him. Then, I realized that my yelling and spanking don t solve the
problem; they make Jove cries more. In addition, in a survey between twelve parents, a mother stated
that she thought about changing her way of dealing

Machiavelli s The Prince By Niccolo Machiavelli
Niccolò Machiavelli s The Prince is a book that examines the qualities and strategies required for a
ruler in order to maintain power. Despite being composed in the 16th century, the ideas presented are
applicable even to mythical kings from texts over a thousand years ago. Throughout the story of
Seneca s Oedipus, substantial connections could be made between Oedipus and The Prince s ideas of
rule, such as methods in acquiring principalities, channeling subjects fear, the use of cruelty and
controlling circumstance. In this essay, I will first talk about these ideas presented in The Prince, then
suggest how Machiavelli might evaluate the character, strategies, leadership, and fortunes of Seneca s
Oedipus. Based on these four factors, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I did unlash the knot of her enigma s webbed deceit, the grimly riddling song of the winged beast.
Jocasta: .... Thebes scepter was your prize for glorious deeds, your payment for destruction of the
Sphinx. (Seneca 203)
Machiavelli might assess that Oedipus obtains his kingship of Thebes by solving the Sphinx s riddle
with his wits and wisdom. In spite of the danger he faces, he does not shy away from the opportunity
of saving the city. Although Oedipus experiences great difficulty in attaining power, Machiavelli
would have faith in his ability to maintain it, because Oedipus acquires his principality through his
own arms and ability.
Furthermore, Machiavelli presents ideas about the qualities that rulers should have in order to avoid
contempt in Chapter XIX:
What will make him despised is being considered inconstant, frivolous, effeminate, pusillanimous and
irresolute... He should contrive that that his actions should display grandeur, courage, seriousness and
strength. (Machiavelli 64)
In fact, Jocasta echoes these ideas in her advice to Oedipus as he is confronted with the plague:
Being king, I think, means this: coming to grips with what confronts you. The harder it is to stand, the
more power s burden slips and slides, the more determinedly you must take your stand. Be brave!

  • 2. A Report On Virtual Private Network Essay Statement of problem: The primary aim of this project is to keep VPN safe which also means keeping our information and credentials safe.As of now the working principle and the protocols related to VPN i.e Virtual private network is understood.VPN is considered to be invisible and impenetrable by most of its users and the organizations providing this service till date but the research carried on by NTA monitor Ltd. shows that these VPN s are the weakest point in their perimeter.VPN s are the most attractive targets for the hackers. There are many flaws in VPN services which can give a hacker, a lot of information about the users of VPN.Virtual Private Networks carries themuch sensitive information over an insecure network. Most of the users believe VPN s keep their information secure that is what VPN s are there in market but its is shocking that VPN s also have remote exploitable vulnerabilities through which one can gain an unauthorized access to the Network or can alter the traffic in the Network etc. One such problem which is there in Virtual Private Networks is USER NAME ENUMERATION VULNERABILITIES.Most VPN use IKE i.e Internet key exchange aggressive mode with an authentication method. The authentication method used in this case is PSK i.e Pre Secured Key authentication. PSK authentication method is a well known authentication scheme but sometimes terminology may differ for e.g username may be interchanged with ID or Groupname and password may interchange with ... • 3. Singapore s Economic Growth And Political Stability Founded as a British trading colony in 1819, Singapore later joined the Malaysian Federation in 1963, but separated two years later and became independent. Over the years, Singapore has grown its international trading links becoming one of the most prosperous countries. Singapore has been compared to the leading nations of Western Europe when it comes to its per capita gross domestic product (GDP). Singapore has one of the world s busiest ports when comparing most tonnage handled. After officially gaining sovereignty in 1965, the People s Action Party (PAP) has dominated Singapore s politics. With a large amount of government controlled companies in the local economy, and its powerful position, Singapore s government has maintained a clean, corruption free image. With their dealings with communists during the early years the PAP s governing philosophy is best described as a Socialist Democracy. Maintained by the paternal guidance of the PAP, came Economic growth and political stability. Even though bureaucrats not politicians administer Singapore, meritocracy is power, which is gained through performance, skill, and loyalty to the policies of the nation. The Constitution of Singapore is the Supreme law. With the constitution for the three organs of the state (Executive, the Legislative, and the Judiciary), It lays down the fundamental principles and framework for them to operate.. • 4. Bruno Bettelheim s `` Punishment Versus Discipline `` Bruno Bettelheim is one of the most influential child psychologists who lived in the 20th century. Bettelheim s writings and theories cement his reputation as one of the most influential psychologists by teaching parents the proper way of raising their child. His ideas and writings also establish his prestige by revolutionizing the way in which psychologists treat children with mental health issues. He changes the way in which mentally ill children are treated by promoting milieu therapy as an alternative method of healing these children. His ideas are relevant today because they assist school and educational institution in dealing with the problem of bullying. His works allow psychologists and educators to understand the bully s actions and the victim s responses, thus assisting them in solving the problem of bullying. This essay summarizes and provides a deep analysis of Bettelheim s works and ideas with the aim to explore how his ideas help schools to deal with the problem of bullying. Bettelheim s article Punishment Versus Discipline analyzes the toll that punishment has on children. Bettelheim explains to the parents that through violence they inspire their children to use their power to intimidate others by imitating the behaviors that were inflicted on them previously. He also tells the parents that using physical punishment does not deter their children from committing the action and that it can encourage them to become devious or untrustworthy (NP). This ... • 5. The Relocation And Imprisonment Of Japanese Americans... The relocation and imprisonment of Japanese Americans during World War II has been and always will be a dark stain in American History. Due to America s lingering racism and prejudices, many of our fellow Americans had to experience an ordeal that no other American should ever have to face. They lost their homes, businesses, land and more importantly, their freedoms, during a moment of time that was filled with resentment, mistrust, fear and hatred towards a fellow man (American) that was just as willing to fight and die for their country. On December 7, 1941, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. The next day, the United States and Britain declared war on Japan. Two months later, on February 19, 1942, the lives of thousands of Japanese Americans were dramatically changed when President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066. This order led to the assembly and evacuation and relocation of nearly 122,000 men, women, and children of Japanese ancestry on the west coast of the United States. (1) It is interesting to note that, despite the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Japanese Americans in Hawaii were not imprisoned in a large scale as they were stateside. Of the total Japanese American population in Hawaii which made up nearly 40% of the population of Hawaii itself, and a large portion of the skilled workforce only a few thousand people were detained. (2) The fact that so few Japanese Americans were incarcerated in Hawaii suggests that their mass removal on the West Coast was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Philip Freneau And Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Summary Life was a prominent subject in nineteenth century literature. Poems, books, and even everyday conversations contemplated the topic. From exploring its meaning, its purpose, and its impact, individuals were obsessed with it. Two such pundits were Philip Freneau and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. They accepted the challenge and broached the subject of life in their poetry. Their perspectives, however, were anything but concurrent. By focusing on Freneau s The Wild Honey Suckle and Longfellow s A Psalm of Life the authors contrasting views become exceptionally clear. While one valued humility and acknowledgment of human fragility, the other sought to spark ambition and enliven a sense of dutiful perseverance. Paying close attention to the time frame in which each author wrote is also significant in identifying the reason behind such differing perspectives. Not only does the era play a part, but also each writer s personal beliefs and values. Freneau was extremely realistic and literal; Longfellow was optimistic and indicative. Taking an in depth look at each author respectively and analyzing their contrasting opinions as well as their reasoning facilitates a deeper understanding of not only the writers but the works themselves. If one thing is agreed upon, it s that life truly is short; however, its purpose is entirely subject to opinion. Philip Freneau possesses a very stark view on man s existence, harping upon the insignificance of human life in his poem, The Wild Honey ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Short Story Gryphon By Charles Baxter In the short story Gryphon by Charles Baxter, it starts out with Mr. Hibler, a boy named Tommy and his 4th grade class teacher, getting sick and needing Miss Ferenczi as a substitute. Miss Ferenczi basically abandons the lesson plan and just talks and talks about very interesting things in place of having class, even going so far as to bringing in a tarot pack to tell the class fortunes on the last day. Though Tommy liked Miss Ferenczi, other classmates were upset with her, so she then gets fired and the class spends the afternoon with Mrs. Mantei s class for science. In the story, Tommy was shown to have defended Miss Ferenczi. I think this is because she was a change from Tommy s usually boring life. In lines 468 485 and 621 626, Tommy s mother tells him to do chores and ignores his excited talk about Miss Ferenczi, which implies that Tommy has routine chores to do daily, and is kind of bored of them. Because he was so used to coming home to a list of chores every single day and having a routine schedule, he was excited to have something new, Miss F, and wanted to keep it that way, therefore defending her. ... As stated in lines 39 50, Miss Ferenczi wasn t a substitute the class had seen before, and the pool was only four unemployed mothers they d all had before, which probably made Tommy hope Miss F was different. This shows that Tommy didn t like things in a steady, boring routine, and that he defended Miss F because she wasn t like that, but rather was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Mental Skills Are A Huge Struggle For So Many Athletes Essay Mental skills are a huge struggle for so many athletes, and that is because of lack of knowledge not only from players, but coaches. With lack of knowledge coaches don t instruct their players on how to use mental skills and the benefits of it. As a coach of a recreational youth girls soccer team, it is my job to teach and prepare the girls to play at a higher level, whether it be club or high school, but ultimately just beyond rec soccer. At 10 and 11 years of age, teaching them how to cope with anger, or direct negativity into positivity, or any other mental skill, is crucial at this age because they are still getting down the physical skill. Learning these psychological skills will help them as they grown into more competitive athletes and better people outside of sports. Usually a PST is not made for athletes until they are around the college level, but this can benefit children as well. The main goal of creating this program outline is so that once the athletes have gotten more familiar with it and psychological skills, they will be able to self regulate and mentally achieve their personal goals on their own. Before beginning, each athlete needs to have an evaluation and be told the process. Ask each athlete after explaining if they have any mental goals of their own before implementing one for them. Even though the athletes that I am talking about specifically are young and won t quite understand fully, it is important to tell them what is going on. In addition to ... Disruptive Behavior Classroom Disruptive behavior in the classroom Over the years at work I have noticed that disruptive behavior of students is a big challenge and a frequent problem that teachers have to address in their classrooms. For those who are involved in education know that teachers on a daily basis have a high amount of demands like improve test results, successfully teach to students with diverse needs, and raise ability to serve all students, often with minimum resources and support. Consequences of several national Gallup polls evidently document that both the general public and teachers be in agreement that a major dilemma for public schools is lack of students discipline in classrooms (Elam, Rose, Gallup, 1996; Rose Gallup, 2003, 2004). • 12. Tardigrade Research Paper Although animals have adapted to many different environments, there is one that trumps them all: the tardigrade. Commonly called water bears and sometimes moss piglets, tardigrades are able to endure many environmental stresses, such as dehydration and extreme temperature changes (Herkewitz). They can even survive in space (Herkewitz)! This essay will prove that the tardigrade is the most resilient animal on earth and give a glimpse into the everyday life of a tardigrade. Tardigrades have been known to survive in environments that would kill nearly any other organism. One such environment is outer space. Space combines many elements that would individually terminate the life of almost anything; however, an experiment conducted by a team of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When a tardigrade becomes a tun, it loses 97 99% of its body s water, and its metabolism slows to 0.01% of its ordinary speed (Herkewitz). Some of its cell contents are replaced with trehalose molecules, a type of sugar (Herkewitz). They also coat themselves with large amounts of glassy molecules produced by proteins unique to tardigrades (Crew). An abnormal amount of antioxidants are produced to defend against reactive oxygen species, dangerous molecules that irradiate particles containing oxygen (Herkewitz). There are four key types of cryptobiosis that tardigrades undergo: anoxybiosis, cryobiosis, anhydrobiosis, and osmobiosis ( Tardigrades! ). The most common form is anhydrobiosis, the type of cryptobiosis tardigrades go through when their body does not have enough water to function as it usually does ( Tardigrades! ). This allows tardigrades to survive long droughts. Of course, droughts are not the only problem water bears face. Tardigrades have been subjected to many tests by scientists, and they took different forms depending on the test. Tardigrades will enter a stage called cryobiosis that lets them survive extreme temperatures ( Tardigrades! ). When there is a lack of oxygen that threatens a tardigrade, it will go into anoxybiosis ( Tardigrades! ). Thanks to this, tardigrades do not need oxygen to survive in outer space. The final cryptobiotic form tardigrades can enter is called osmobiosis ( Tardigrades! ). Osmobiosis is the least studied of all cryptobiotic forms and occurs when there is an increase in the concentration of a solute in the water a tardigrade lives in ( Tardigrades! ). One example of osmobiosis would be if salt was poured into the water in which a tardigrade was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Comparing Ovid s Metamorphoses And The Bible When we look at creation myths throughout history and across religions we can see many similarities drawn but also many differences. Close ties can be seen between Ovid s Metamorphoses and Genesis in the Bible as well differences between the latter and the Aztec story of creation. These myths can be contrasted on their themes and moral s demonstrated, the divine intervention that takes place, and type of creation myth it is. When looking at the myths through those aspects we can see key resemblances between the myths such as the evolution of the world and its people and this shed s light onto the civilisation of origin. In Ovid s Metamorphoses we a world created by the gods that is filled with plant and animal life all of which is ruled by man. • 14. Globalization Vs Neorealism Globalization is the intensification of networks of interdependence at multi continental distances. It is the idea that actions in one area of the world affect different areas in the world. The argument, though, is whether or not globalization is occurring, if countries are dependent or interdependent. When turning on the news today, one might see more on whats going on in Russia or North Korea than in their own backyard. This is an example of Globalization. By examining it through Neorealism, one can better understand its prevalence. Neorealism primarily centers on the importance of the structure of the international system when explaining the events in international politics. It states that a state s position in the international system determines its actions and behavior. The father of Neorealism, Waltz, stated in the Journal of Politics and Society that, different international relation structure permit and cause the units of a system to change their behavior and produce different outcomes (Waltz p.4). If that be the case, then Globalization is at the center of politics. The theory of Neorealism itself defends the argument that Globalization is occurring; one state s capabilities directly affects another s actions. To better understand this one must accept that the international system s ordering principle is anarchy, the idea that there is no higher authority or world government. This creates an almost self help kind of atmosphere for all of the world ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Currently the environmental issues and the exhaustion of natural resources leads to complications and become the prime factors which affects the cost, time and effort in global logistics and supply chain management. An analysis of the Montreal based Cirque de soleil is done with various factors and criteria for evaluation of the key issues. The key issues are distribution complexities, increasing transportation cost, production inefficiency, delivery lead times and logistics partnership strategies. The objective is to streamline the global supply chain network by redesigning the existing system with new integrated model using CPFR (Collaborative Planning Forecasting and Replenishment). This concept is effectively supported by the SAP System which integrates the demand management, better sales forecasting, effective distribution and timely replenishment. The analysis results with the identification of locations for the new distribution model and substantiated with the rationale of site selection considering all criteria s. The implementation and the SAP integration describe the action plans and come out with the pros and cons of the proposed supply chain system. When asking President Obama which country develops and breads the most skilled work force he said hands down the United States. To summarize today s economy; the American labor market is good at attracting talented foreigners, offering them more money than they make elsewhere. This is not the way to improve the education and skill level of workers in America but it s a solution for companies to sustain their business process and continue to generate revenue. Florence had an interesting early life, from begging her parents to study math to choosing to become a nurse. In the present study, different mushroom species were extracted partially purified and their endopolysaccharides (extracted from the fruiting bodies) as well as exopolysaccharides (extracted from the filtrate of cultured mycelia) production were determined to evaluate their anti tumour and anti oxidant effects. The present results showed that Pleurotus ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide has the maximum intracellular production as compared with the other studied mushrooms. Different mushroom s endo and exopolysaccharides inhibited the proliferation of Ehrlich tumour (EAT) cells in vitro; however, P. ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide exhibited the maximum anti tumour effect. Moreover, P. ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide showed the maximum scavenging activity compared to the scavenging effects of the control ascorbic acid. Pre treatment of different concentrations of P. ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide to EATbearing mice markedly decreased the number of EAT cells one week after incubation in the abdominal cavity of mice in a dose dependent manner, and reduced the size of solid tumour in the thigh muscle of mice as measured morphologically and examined histologically. Every potato chip bag thrown on the floor, every balloon released into the air, and every gum wrapper discarded on the sidewalk has an affect on our planet. In the short term we view these acts as miniscule and irrelevant, but what most of us fail to understand is that every act of pollution has a snowball effect that only harms us and our environment. Unfortunately, most of the plastic waste we throw on the floor ends up on our beaches, in our waterways, and in our oceans. • 22. Pine Island Glacier is the Largest Sheet of Ice on Earch Pine island Glacier is an enormous stream of ice flowing west northwest along the south of Hudson mountains into the Amundsen Sea in Antarctica. This ice sheet is the largest chunk of ice on planet Earth having a volume of a water equivalent to 57m of the global sea level. Hence, this basin has the largest net contribution of ice to the sea in the world. In the past few decades, the pine island glacier has been melting at an irreversible rate. Studies show that the ground line of the glacier has retreated 10 kilometres and is in the process of touching a 40 kilometre retreat. The glacier has been losing approximately 20 billion tons of ice each year for the past quarter of the century and is estimated to lose four times the ice in the coming quarter. As said by a glaciologist with France s Grenoble Alps University, Gael Durand, the glacier has started a phase of self sustained retreat and will continue its decline. The loss of ice from the glacier at this rate would cause disasters and hence is the latest issue of climatic concern. It has played a significant role in the rise of the global sea level. It is predicted that at this rate, the glacier will alone increase the sea level by another centimetre in the next 20 years. • 29. Conflict Theory Conflict theory is the theory that human behavior in social contexts is the result of conflicts between competing groups, as different social groups, be they class , gender or race defined, have unequal power and access to power, yet all groups compete for limited resources. This inevitably gives rise to tension and conflict, albeit often of the subtle variety, as oftentimes the conflicts between groups have been institutionalized in society to such a degree that the conflicts and tensions are such an expected part of society that the conflict, and inequality, itself disappears from public sight, and consciousness. For example, an adherent of a world systems theory of conflict would point to the global competition for resources, particularly the inequality between rich and poor nations struggling to provide the basic necessities of life to their inhabitants, as evidence of global conflict. Conflict theories seek to explain the interactions of groups within society, and assert that social order is preserved involuntarily through the exercise of power one social class holds over another (Lindsey, 2010, 7). The conflict between groups is not always obvious or apparent, so it must be unraveled and examined in order to identify and establish the impact of such conflict on society as a whole, as well as individual members and social groupings. No matter how bad the day was, as soon as parents see their child smiles, they forget all about the bad day, and smile back at their child. In fact, some parents wish to stay 24 hours with their children to enjoy their first smiles, first laughs, first words, and first steps. For most of them, all their time with their children is enjoyable, except one particular time. When children throw tantrums, when a child whines, cries, screams, throws him/herself on the floor, and maybe runs out of the house with no known reason, most parents wish not to be in their child s presence because of the screaming.
