Pathetic Fallacy In The War Of The Worlds
HG Wells The War Of The Worlds
HG Wells uses literacy techniques in The War Of The Worlds to add tension and create a better more
frightening atmosphere. He uses four main types of literacy techniques that are:
· Juxtaposition
· Pathetic fallacy
· Omniscient viewpoint
· And cliffhangers
The meaning of these are as followed:
· Juxtaposition this is where two completely different facts are put next to each other to make a
comparison that stands out clearly and completely changes the atmosphere.
· Pathetic fallacy this is where the weather matches the mood of some one.
· Omniscient viewpoint the author and the reader knows what is going to happen but the character
does not.
· Cliffhanger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 1800`s civilization was the most important thing. If a man did not wear a hat he was accused of
being poor and even if he was middle class a hat and a suit was the only way of recognizing status.
Clothes were the way in which people could tell if you were rich or poor. In the book when the man
loses his hat no one helps him and suspects him of just being a poor person begging. Civilization starts
to break down in this book not that far off from when the Martians come to earth.
People start being selfish and getting themselves out of harms way and do not even try to bother
helping the women and children. That was a mans duty to make sure, in any danger, to save his wife
and children.
The main character of this book outbids another buyer in a public house for buying the horse and cart.
He gets away with it. When he goes back to the town guilt rises upon him as he finds the landlord who
he bought the horse and cart off dead It was the landlord of the
Spotted Dog, whose conveyance I had taken . In the wreck of this little town and soon to be more
social convention had broken down.
People of the church and vicars are losing faith and are starting to flee. Doctors who have swore the
oath of loyalty to help all people in need have broken down and fled.
The country is on full alert and the city of London is in a very chaotic state. The atmosphere created in
this episode has a sense of drams and

Similarities Between Muir And Wordsworth s Relationship...
Henry David Thoreau once said, It s not what you look at that matters, it s what you see. William
Wordsworth, the author of the poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud, and John Muir, author of the
essay The Calypso Borealis, have proved this in their works by looking at nature and portraying it
differently but beautifully in each piece. They have been able to express their relationships with nature
differently through choices about format, such as if a rhyme scheme will be used; their word choice,
like choosing to give something a specific name; as well as through literary devices used, including
tone, mood, and irony, but, even though they made many different choices, their works are both able
to make nature seem beautiful and mysterious. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think the most noticeable difference in the two pieces is the tone and somewhat in mood. The
atmosphere Muir creates in his essay evolves as it goes on. When he first begins describing his
experience looking for the Calypso Borealis, he seems to be having a lot of trouble with his
environment, causing him to see nature in a negative way and be fearful of it. This is demonstrated
well in this quote from paragraph two where he says he was struggling through tangled and drooping
branches However, after he sees the Calypso Borealis he completely changes his view on nature and
seems to respect it more and enjoy being in it more than he did before. You can see this as early as
paragraph one where he is reflecting on his time botanising in glorious freedom . Wordsworth, on the
other hand, always has the same opinion on nature; he sees it as a beautiful force and as something to
observe and not to interfere with. He demonstrates this when he describes nature such as fluttering and
dancing in the breeze or when he talks about sparkling waves of glee . The way Muir describes nature
and the fact that his point of view changes as he spends more time in it once again makes it seem like
he sees nature more like an equal. He recognizes that just because it seemed dangerous at first, it does
not necessarily mean that it is. It appears that he sees nature like a person or a companion more than
like an outside force.

recommendation to provide students with the confidence in their electoral system and furthermore
indicate which options are to be considered less favorable. This essay will firstly , briefly outline the
criteria that an electoral system must meet in order to recommended as the preferred option .This is
essay will secondly, explain why option 2 is not suited for the purpose of student union elections and
enlighten as to the disadvantages of why option 2 is the least favorable of the four systems . Thirdly,
this essay will elaborate on why option 3 is a better suited as the preferred electoral system option and

Masculinity In Slaughterhouse Five
In his novel, Slaughterhouse Five, Kurt Vonnegut describes the experiences of Billy Pilgrim, the
protagonist, during his time in World War II. Through illustrating Billy Pilgrim s constant struggle to
fit in with his peers during the war, Vonnegut proposes the question Must males adopt masculine
characteristics in order to receive respect from others? By juxtaposing the negative criticisms towards
the young, effeminate Billy Pilgrim during his youth with the positive responses received by both the
manly, adult Billy Pilgrim and the masculine soldiers, Vonnegut asserts that a man s masculinity
determines his societal ranking and acquisition of respect. Through relaying the experience of a
youthful Billy Pilgrim who was often criticized by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As opposed to his reedy voice, the one he d had in the war, Billy s voice is now a deep, resonant tone.
His voice was a gorgeous instrument (Vonnegut 63). Billy s deeper voice demonstrates his increased
display of masculine attributes. As a result, Billy Pilgrim is no longer the unpopular outcast, instead,
he is now a well respected individual receiving a standing ovation from the Lions Club. He had just
been elected President (Vonnegut 63). In addition, the crowd was excitedly pink and beaming and they
waited for Billy s speech. The immense support shown through the the crowd s positive response and
Billy s new, powerful position reveals the power associated with masculinity. Not only did Billy s new
adoption of masculine qualities result in an increase of popularity, but Billy s simple transformation of
a deeper tone of voice also allowed him to garner approval from the public about his absurd stories
about Tralfamadore. Previous to adopting his new voice, individuals dismissed even simple statements
from Billy Pilgrim. For example, when Billy insisted that he was in Dresden, his hospital roommate
named Rumfoord brushed Billy off, stating that He s simply echoing things we say (Vonnegut 246).
However, as an adult, when Billy spoke in that beautifully trained voice of his, telling about the flying
saucers and Montana Wildhack and so on, he was met with immense (Vonnegut 264). Billy s
popularity even reached a peak where police were employed to protect him from the crush of
popularity (Vonnegut 181). The staggering difference in treatment between the public and his peer s
perception of his reliability before and after his deeper voice transformation reveals the significance of
masculinity in establishment of appreciation for an

Execution In Early-Modern Europe
Maintenance of power and fear is an essential action by the majority of monarchs and rulers within the
early modern age. Without the populace living within a mental state of worry, and being constantly
agitated by the looming threat of capital punishment, the European continent would not be unified
between the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries. This concept of mass horror and tyranny was modelled
around the use of capital punishment, torture, and execution, and through the public action of these
forms of justice, the monarchs and spiritual leaders kept an ability to rule with an iron fist over the
populace of a nation state. However execution was also a public affair and was enjoyed by the masses
to a large extent due to the sense of justice and vengeance it created, and a feeling of freedom from
lawless criminals due to the large punishment awaiting them if citizens were to break the strict and
direct laws of kingdoms. Another aspect of execution was the role of religion and The Roman Catholic
Church in regards to the execution of religious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

society and individuals to a maximum extent. Execution, was a large weapon of terror for European
monarchies, and through this terror monarchs were able to control the population, and execute those
who disturbed internal stability and peace. Executioners were considered by many to be the sole

If the question mark does not succeed in becoming the market leader, then after perhaps years of cash
consumption it will degenerate into a dog when the market growth declines. Question marks must be
analyzed carefully in order to determine whether they are worth the investment required to grow
market share.
Stars are units with a high market share in a fast growing industry (High Market Share / High Market
Growth). The hope is that stars become the next cash cows. Sustaining the business unit s market
leadership may require extra cash, but this is worthwhile if that s what it takes for the unit to remain a
leader. When growth slows, if they have been able to maintain their category leadership stars become
cash cows, else they become dogs due to low relative market share.
As a particular industry matures and its growth slows, all business units become either cash cows or
dogs. The natural cycle for most business units is that they start as question marks, then turn into stars.
Eventually the market stops growing thus the business unit becomes a cash cow. At the end of the
cycle the cash cow turns into a dog.
The overall goal of this ranking was to help corporate analysts decide which of their business units to
fund, and how much; and which units to sell. Managers were supposed to gain perspective from this
analysis that allowed them to plan with confidence to use money generated by the cash cows to fund
the stars and, possibly, the question marks. As the

Summary Of Jules Verne s France
Noah Lewis
Mrs. Cavolt
LA III Honors

PLACEHOLDER TITLE
Jules Verne, of France, was a prominent author who produced over 60 novels along with multiple
plays and short stories. Verne was born in February of 1828, amidst the Industrial Revolution, in a port
city called Nantes. An environment like this undoubtedly helped to spark Verne s near unquenchable
desire for adventure and travel, a key component of his life until its end in 1905. However, Jules Verne
experienced his share of bumps and potholes on his road to glory. Verne had moved to Paris to get a
degree in law, but shortly after he ended up working in the arts even with pressure from his parents to
continue his studies. With that door eventually closing Verne took up a job as a secretary and even a
stockbroker to support himself and his family. Finally finding a stable position, Verne and his wife
took roughly 20 trips to the British Isles, which ended up as a solid source for writing material. Verne
s thirst for adventure reached the point where he bought his own boat, drawing on his travels all the
way from British Isles to the Mediterranean to create more novels. The novels known as Journey to
the Center of the Earth and From the Earth to the Moon were influenced by Verne s experiences and
travels. Other titles such as Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and Around the World in Eighty
Days added to Verne s prestige. The pinnacle of his fame is tied to his main series of novels, the 54

The Music Of Music Videos Essay
Music composed for television generate another realm of modes and codes that differ even from the
coding within film. Television has the opportunity to utilise music as an instrument for supporting
narratives within television series and as means for marketing through commercials. Blaine Allan,
explores the relationship between music and television within his journal article, Music Cinema,
Music Video, Music Television. The main focal point of this resource is the function of visual aspects
within the introduction of music videos. However, Blaine Allan does include an interesting insight into
the role of music within other areas of television. Allan s fundamental argument is to highlight the
need for analysis into these music videos in order to gain an understanding of how the visual and
music components are composed and integrated. Individuals researching into the mechanics of music
videos are the primary intended audience, however musicians would benefit from this information as
well. This source, therefore, provides a number of compelling arguments and concepts, especially in
regard to music videos, that explain the differing codes perceived with the addition of the visual
element. Blaine Allan does hold credibility within this field and thus provides a good sense of
reliability which is enhanced by his objective view throughout the article. However, this journal
positions at a low range in regard to usefulness as the arguments within this essay do not focus around

Harmful Effects Of Alcohol On The Liver
Harmful effects of alcohol on the liver
The liver is the body s largest solid organ. Receives about 1.5 liters of blood per minute and is
involved in three important vital functions essential for our body: the purification, synthesis and
storage. The liver recovers and transforms many toxic to render them harmless before disposal.
Destroys red blood cells and white blood cell aging and certain bacteria in the blood. Destroy the
waste produced by the body naturally, like ammonia, as also those who consume alcohol. The liver is
involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids (cholesterol, triglycerides) and proteins (albumin).
Plays an essential role in the production of clotting factors that avoid bleeding. Involved in the
production and secretion of bile (600 to 1200 ml per day) and concentrated stored in the gallbladder. It
stores fat soluble vitamins (A, D, KE) and glycogen. Thus, the energy stored in the form of sugar and
made available to the agency if needed. The liver is one of the most important organs of our body. It is
a vital organ. The liver regulates the blood levels of most chemical compounds and excretes a product
called bile, which helps remove waste products from the liver. All the blood leaving the stomach and
intestines passes through the liver. The liver processes this blood and breaks down the nutrients and
drugs in easier to use for the rest of the body forms. There are more than 500 vital functions related to
the liver. Among the most

As a result of SKM s efforts, John Fruehwirth, a principal at Allied Capital, was considering an
injection of $20 million worth of mezzanine debt/growth capital in E bar. Fruehwirth was aware of the
fact that a restaurant with significant growth opportunity like E bar could either be the next
Cheesecake Factory, or flop and take the debt injection along with it. E bar has shown initial success
in California, but Allied s investment committee needed to evaluate if this continued success can be
applied outside the state. Areas of main concern included if the E bar concept was sufficiently strong
to visit and be a nationwide brand or if it had been merely a California concept. And in the case of
success, would Allied Capital be able to meet is underwriting standards? Based upon the Black
Scholes formula and the financial information provided in this case, it is recommended that a current
stock price of $6.18 be used and the warrant agreement be increased to 3.9% of total shares
outstanding to yield an IRR of 18%. This report will support and examine E bar s ability in generating
the required return on invested capital from Allied Capital and conclude by providing a
recommendation on the deal alterations based on Allied Capital s needs. The next section examines
AC s due diligence on E bar s growth potentials and the industry it operates in.

The Importance of Accountability in the Army Essay examples
The Importance of Accountability Is so you know where everyone is so if you need a person for
something you will know where to find them. It is also necessary to have accountability to make sure
everyone in your unit is safe and so you make sure they are where they are supposed to be. You also
want your unit to be on standby so they are ready for anything that may happen. It is also needed so
nobody goes UA. When you have accountability it is easier to track down people if you were to need
them for anything. Being accountable means being dependable, showing up to work and to
appointments on time, meeting deadlines, being at the right place and at the right time and doing the
right thing at the right time. It is also to see if everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There many reasons why accountability is an important part of business. Showing up on time is a very
important thing when it comes to work because if you ever show up late that would be time lost from
the work day or the time you lost you could have been working on something but because you showed
up late that task was never completed on time as needed. When something is not done it affects
everything in the organization. If one thing isn t completed it affects all the other tasks like a chain
reaction. Another reason accountability is needed is so you know where weapons are located. In
leadership roles, accountability is the acknowledgment of responsibility for actions, decisions, and
resulting consequences. Some of those consequences can be loss of pay, loss of rank, or loss of job.
When you say you are going to get something done you are accountable of getting it done no matter
what because you gave your word that you were going to get it done. Whenever you don t keep your
word it makes everyone think you are not reliable. Then none of your peers will come to you for help
because you will not be able to complete the task. Consequences when you do something wrong could
mean that you can lose your job or just get a warning. Whenever you do something wrong it is
possible to correct your mistake if it is possible to make a correction. The ways you can make a
mistake when getting accountability is by not having an up to date muster

Animal Testing Is Necessary
Is it really necessary for animals to be used for medical research? This question still remains, yet to be

it than opinion. People that feel sorry for animals usually are the ones that don t agree with animal

Some people believe that research involving animals is essential to improving the health of humans.
They would suggest, that every advance in the 20th century is due to the use of animal testing. They
also suggest that animal research holds the key for solutions to AIDS, cancer, and heart diseases.
However, there should be other ways of research because animal research is cruel and inhumane. This

The Effect Of Sodium Thiosulphate On Reaction Rate
Title:
The effect of Hydrochloric Acid volume with Sodium Thiosulphate on the reaction rate.
Introduction:
Research Question: How does changing the volume of Hydrochloric Acid on Sodium Thiosulphate
effect the time taken for the X Mark to dissapear?
The rate of a chemical reaction is the time required for a given quantity of reactant to be changed to
product. The unit of time may be seconds, minutes, hours, days or years. For a chemical reaction to
occur it needs to have a collision, and it is affected by several factors, such as temperature increases in
general increase the rate of reaction, for the example 2O°C rise in temperature doubles the reaction

This occur because the increase of volume of HCl will increase the rate of reaction between
Hydrochloric acid and sodium Thiosulphate particles.
The scientific result for this experimet is the results from preliminary experiments support the
prediction made. From the results you can see that there is a directly proportional relationship between
the concentration and the rate of reaction. Ifyou increase the concentration then the rate of reaction
will also increase. The volume of a solution will effect the rate of reaction because the rate of reaction
depends on how much the molecules of reacting substance will collide, more volume of HCL make
the reaction of Sodium Thiosulphate and HCL to react faster.
This experiment is testing how the rate of reaction is affected when volume is changed. The theory is
said that increasing the volume can increase the rate of reaction by increasing the rate of molecular
collisions. The phenomenon behind all of this is the collision theory and how it plays a big role in this
investigation. The higher the volume of a solution the less time/faster it will take for the system to turn
into equilibrium, and if concentration is decreased, time taken for the solution to go cloudy

Farmer V Pilot Essay
Does Farmer have any claim(s) for damages against Pilot based on intentional tort? Discuss.
Rule of Law :
The essential requirements of intentional torts are the elements of intent, injury, damages and
causation.
The concept of intention does not require that Defendant (D) know that his/her act will cause harm to
the Plaintiff (P), but must know with substantial certainty that their act will result in certain outcomes
(landing of the plane on the P s land).
To successfully make a claim against D, P must prove that D acted with purpose when he landed the
plane on P s property, that the act was intentional and it lead to the injury suffered by P (loss of land
and crops) and the resulting damages to P s land and crops.

IV. P was in possession or was entitled to immediate possession of the land when the trespass took
place.
V. Trespass was caused by the D s act.
Based on the facts, it is clear that the Pilot has a prima facie case for trespass to land . The facts are
clear that the i) Pilot intended to land on the Farmer s land; ii) Pilot did land on the Farmer s land; iii)
the Farmer had not expressly authorized the entry. [3]
However, as a defense privilege we have to review the law in terms of implied consent (implied in fact
and implied in law) and the application of necessity case law. The urgent nature of the circumstances
and the availability of limited options (sub division of homes, trees of vacant land) provide a basis for
implied consent. Implied in fact consent would be an objective manifestation as a reasonable person
would consent under the circumstances especially when taking into account the loss of life against the
loss of property. Per case law, the courts have ruled that loss of life over shadows loss of property.
Similarly, implied in law consent would need to be reviewed under the rule of law and the benefit of
the public, considering the options between landing on a housing tract versus landing on a vacant farm
where the potential of damages would be significantly lower.
The same elements of urgency and limited available options also provide the defense privilege under
the rule of law of necessity . If the defense falls under the preview of public

The Article Relational Leadership By James Freeman

and Youth Workers in the lives of youth, specifically the work of Brian Gannon. Brian Gannon is an
experienced Youth Worker who took on a leadership role at St. Johns Hostel in Cape Town, South
Africa in 1967, at the age of twenty seven. St. Johns consisted of sixty four boys, with many of them
left alone in the aftermath of World War I along with the influenza epidemic. Outside of the care
provided for the boys, the program offered them a life parallel to anyone living in the city. Activities
such as afternoon sports, free time and contact with friends and family outside of the institution were
provided and endorsed by the institution for the boys. Gannon s approach to working with youth
focused on the following things highlighted in the article: creating smaller living groups for the boys,
less regimented routines, more experiences of childhood and adolescence in everyday life, and a focus
on developing meaningful relationships with one another (Freeman, 2015, p. 37). In other words,
Gannon s main goal was to lead and guide the youth so that they are given an equal chance at
succeeding in life. Gannon is also a co founder of CYC Net where he has published a collection of
approximately two hundred child and youth care practice hints, each hint containing a background
theory and a how to element. The article then analyzes an excerpt from the works of Gannon,

Perseus As A Hero In Ancient Greek Culture
Perseus an important character in Greek mythology because he shows many traits valued by Greek
culture. What is exactly a hero in ancient Greek mythology and culture, and what role does fate play in
myths? A hero is one extraordinary individual who represents the values greatly admired and sought
after in ancient Greek society. Perseus showed the epic traits of ;family, perseverance, and
couragesness. These were all very valued in ancient Greek culture. I will be; summarizing Perseus
story, how he demonstrates the values of ancient Greek society, and explaining his cultural
significance and how fate plays a big role.
King Acrisius was king of Argos. He had an amazingly beautiful daughter, but he wished deeply for a
son, so he prayed to the gods for them to give him a son. Apollo, the god of culture and prophecy, told
him that he will never have a son in all his days and that the son of his daughter will slay him. Acrisius
thinks of just killing his daughter,Danae, to prevent his prophecy, but fears of the punishment he will
receive from the gods for this act, so he instead locks his daughter in an entirely bronze house and
guards it closely. What he did not expect is for the king of the gods Zeus to come directly to his
daughter and impregnate her. From this comes a son named Perseus. When Acrisius learns of his
daughter s offspring, he puts both Perseus and Danae in a trunk and sets it off into the ocean. By luck
or by the will of Zeus Perseus and Danae wash up onto a small island, where a kind hearted fisherman
named Dictys takes in the two strangers. They live contently with Dictys until Dictys brother, King
Polydectes, fell in love with Danae. He decides to construe a plot to get rid of her son,Perseus, so that
he can have her. The plan he comes is to convince Perseus to go and slay the woman beast Medusa.
He thinks this feat impossible by a mortal man, because any man who lays eyes upon her turns to
stone. To aid him on his quest Hermes gives him a sword stronger than that of Medusa s scale. He also
told him he would need equipment from the nymphs of the north, who s location was unknown by all
except the Gray Women who are ray and live in gray. The three sisters share one eye between them all

How Change A Flat Tire
How to Change a Flat Tire
If it has not happened to you then it has most likely happened to someone you know. It usually catches
you off guard, and can even be scary or dangerous at times. Are you wondering what I am referring
to? I am talking about the dreaded flat tire. When a tire ruptures while driving, it is a very startling
experience. It is likely that it will happen to most of us at least once. Many people will reach for a
phone to call some type of roadside assistance. There is nothing wrong with calling for help. However,
knowing how to change your own flat tire can be very reassuring. The work can be done in a few
simple steps. When you get a flat tire while driving you may feel the car pull to one side, or hear a
thumping sound from the tire. The first thing you need to do is turn on your hazard lights and slow
down. Look for a safe place to pull over. You should try to find a place that will give you room to
work, and get you as far away from the road as possible. Ensure the vehicle parking brake is engaged
when you park. Once you are in a safe area, you are ready to get out the tools you will need for the
job.
All vehicles come with the tools you need to change the tire. You will need a jack, a lug wrench and
the spare tire from your vehicle. The owner s manual from your vehicle will give you the location and
a description for all of these tools. Gather these tools and lay them out in an area near the tire that is
flat. Now that you have the tools, you

The Rhetorical Analysis Of General Douglas Macarthur s Speech
As of 2014, the VA estimates there were 22 million military veterans in the U.S. population. Over time
the population of those to fight in the war has grown. There are many important contributors to the
war. One of them was General Douglas Macarthur, who was an American general and also chief of

Nations in the Korean War. In his speech: Sylvanus Thayer Award Acceptance Address, he presents
the importance of the war, which fighting for our country to protect us Americans is noble.
Throughout the speech, Macarthur viewed The Thayer award more than an award, but symbolizing
honor. General Douglas Macarthur encouraging words create a powerful tone, and attracting who the

the beginning ,General MacArthur intended audience would be to General Westmoreland, General

are present during the speech he is giving. However, throughout the speech Macarthur reaches out to
the men who are interested in the army, but also to those that might be confused on what their purpose
in life is. Macarthur state s, Duty, honor, country: Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what

Tourette s Syndrome Analysis
Barking, convulsive tics, grimacing, swearing Imagine having frequent involuntary urges of mimicry
and repetition of abrupt behaviors. These traits are often associated with Tourette Syndrome, a
neurological disorder that researchers believe is caused by and abnormal metabolism of the
neurotransmitters, dopamine and serotonin. It is genetically transmitted from parent to child. There is
a fifty percent chance of passing the gene on from parent to child. It s one of the more common
genetic diseases detected in one to ten children out of 1,000. The exact cause of Tourette s syndrome is
still unknown, some research suggests that it occurs when the neurotransmitters fail to balance within
the brain. Readers question, how someone can go from tossing pots and pans, to being very precise as

The piracy of software, images, video, audio, and text has long been a concern for owners of these
digital assets. Protection schemes are usually based upon the insertion of digital watermarks into the
data. The watermarking software introduces small errors into the object being watermarked. These
intentional errors are called marks, and all the marks together constitute the watermark. The marks are
chosen so as to have an insignificant impact on the usefulness of the data and are placed in such a way
that a malicious user cannot destroy them without making the data significantly less useful.
Although watermarking does not prevent illegal copying, it deters such copying by providing a means
for establishing the original ownership of a redistributed copy.
The increasing use of databases in applications beyond behind the firewalls data processing is creating
a similar need for watermarking databases. The Internet is exerting tremendous pressure on data

What Is The Example Of Nepotism
In Philippine politics, the ultimate goal is to have professional officials in the government so that the
country will be ruled properly and be successful. For this to be achieved, officials who are in high
positions should give power to those who are responsible enough and can prove that they are worthy
of their given position. But in reality, this ideal image is somehow violated because of nepotism.
Nepotism is defined as favoritism shown by somebody in power to relatives and friends, especially in
appointing them to good positions. Regardless of the capability and capacity to work in the workplace,
officials preferably appoints or promotes their relatives in good positions instead of appointing or
promoting non related members that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Life In College
Life is a winding road that goes through mountains and over water, but also through mud, ice, and
snow. What I mean by that is that life is something very short, filled with beautiful moments as well as
dark and disturbing ones (well, if we are being technical, life is the longest thing any of us will
experience). One moment that nobody can seem to decide which category it belongs in, is college.
College for some people can be this once in a lifetime experience that creates friendship, memories,
and everlasting knowledge. While for others it is absolute misery and stress. Regardless of all of that,
college is an incredibly tough decision that comes down to intelligence, money, and future careers. All
of which are choices of which many people fear to make in life. Bowling Green and Findlay
University both seem to be very sound and reasonable choices; however, Bowling Green looks to be
the better choice due to costs and their business programs. As for Bowling Green, which is my first
choice, was actually the second college I had visited. It had a massive campus, well, at least compared
to what I expected. It had hundreds of dorms and plenty of faculty to go around for the students.
Needless to say that during that first visit, I was blown away and beyond impressed with everything I
saw. So after looking more into it, there are definitely a lot of different reasons that I was even more
inclined to go there. The first thing I looked at was the tuition, which was a surprising

Analysis Of The Poem The Riveter
Rosie the Riveter is a symbolic figure and has helped shape America into what it is today. The bright
yellow back round, with bold words standing out in the navy speech bubble, We can do it . The focus
of the poster is much more than the words written. This poster is of the women of the modern world
Rosie. She is wearing a jean shirt with rolled sleeve as she flexes her arm to show her strength. She
has a red bandana around her head holding up her hair. She gives a twist to what the traditional
women looked like during the 1940 s. She was there to give women a sense of empowerment and
motivation to go to work. The poster Rosie the Riveter was created for the Saturday Evening Post
May 29, 1943 for the Memorial Day issue. The artist J. Howard Miller created one of the most iconic
posters of all time. The Rosie the Riveter poster was made as propaganda to encourage women to join
the workforce, as the men fought in World War 2. The meaning behind the poster Rosie the Riveter
has stayed the same throughout time, giving women a sense of entitlement. It intentionally made
women motivated to do their part and to support the war and join the workforce. The poster did
wonders as women headed to the factories. They were needed, so women put their work boots on and
went to work, as the men went off to war. Rosie the Riveter was the face if a new generation of
women by giving them the chance to be independent. This helped create mass social change. As men

Many of us dream of becoming rich to live the life that we always wanted. However, being rich doesn
t mean that you are always financially free. Once you become rich, you always think that your
lifestyle should change and usually it becomes expensive. There are people who had millions of
money, but lost it all in just a short span of time. Just look at some of the lotto winners who won
millions of pesos and have spent it all in a snap. Since they have a lot of money on hand, they bought
big mansions, luxury cars and go to parties almost every night. They spent every cent of their prize
buying everything life has to offer them. Later on as time passes by, their money is getting smaller and
no longer enough to sustain their chosen lifestyle. So to avoid the agony of going back to the rags
once again, they resort to debts and all sort of loans out there. This is not what financial freedom is all
about.
Here are 8 reasons why you need to become financially free than just aim being rich:
1) To cover all your needs. This

The Great Gatsby No Name Woman Essay
Society has created an image that women should be delicate and dainty, that all women should aspire
to be mothers and homemakers. As a result, society has held women to different standards than men.
Women are held to different expectations than men in terms of beauty, loyalty, and traditional
obligations especially as subservient housewives. There is an urgent need to change the mindset of
society. The central issue facing young women in today s society is the standards that hold them to
higher expectations than men in the areas of beauty, romantic relationships, and household duties.
Society has created the stereotype that women are petite and dainty. No Name Woman emphasizes this
expectation by elaborating on the extremes that women go to look beautiful. The author comments on
the techniques used to pluck eyebrows saying It especially hurt at the temples, but my mother said that
we were lucky we didn t have to have our feet bound (Kingston 196). The expectations that society
has for women to look beautiful are unfair because men put little effort into their appearance. In
general, a woman with flawless appearance is favored over a woman that shows her natural ... Show

The Great Gatsby illustrates a situation where society creates a different expectations for men and
women. When Tom and Gatsby are arguing over Daisy s affection, Tom says I suppose the latest thing
is to sit back and let Mr. Nobody from Nowhere make love to your wife (Fitzgerald 137). The irony of
the situation is that Tom was having an open affair at the same time that Daisy was seeing Gatsby. The
double standard that applies only to men is not fair for women. How are women expected to be loyal
to their husbands, when it is acceptable for their husbands to be unfaithful? The stereotypes that
women should be loyal and pure, while expectations for men are the complete opposite, create unjust

Diamondback Moth Research Paper
Every year farmers crops are subject to droughts, floods, storms, and so much more. But one of the
biggest problems that seem to be plaguing the agricultural industry, specifically the cabbage and
lettuce industry, is pests. One pest in particular is the diamondback moth, and it has been wreaking
havoc all over New York. However, all is not lost; there still will be cabbage and lettuce in the grocery
store. The reason for this? Scientists have come up with an effective new way to manage the
diamondback moth, and it isn t reliant on pesticides. It uses genes. But, best of all, it won t be one
farmer paying for one treatment. It will be a universal movement, and this movement has the
possibility to revolutionize the crucifer, or, in more simple terms, the cabbage and lettuce market. ...

The diamondback moth is an invasive species that is believed to have originated in Europe. Since it
was not originally native to New York, it has few natural predators, so the population can easily spiral
out of control. It is brown and tan in appearance and is somewhat elongated in shape. Females lay
approximately 150 eggs at a time, but they can lay up to 300. In addition, the moth only lives for up to
16 days. This may not seem like a long time to us because we live for decades, but the diamondback
moth is laying eggs for ten out of those sixteen days (Capinera, 2000). Now think about it. That s a lot
of larvae in a short amount of time. This can be a big problem for farmers, especially because the
problem comes in the form of a common moth. There are so many moth varieties in New York that it
is almost impossible to know all about each one, and that is why farmers like me who live all around
New York have an even tougher

Mississippi Burning Closing Scene Analysis
Mississippi Burning
Describe the closing scene of the text. Explain how the closing scene helped you to understand at least
one important aspect of the film.
In the film Mississippi burning, directed by Alan Parker, there are many important scenes. One that I
found most important was the closing scene. Three things that helped portray the closing scene were,
music, camera angles and their body language/facial expressions.
The music in the closing scene was sad and eerily, signaling the sadness and death that had recently
accorded. A black woman sings a song that brings hope, saying But we must walk home, by faith .
Then soon after these words are sung the rest of the group (whit and black) begin to join in. I think
this is an important part of the closing scene, because it shows that, after everything that has
happened, the blacks and whites now stand together and sing about freedom to the ones they lost. The
only disappointment in this scene is James Chaney s grave stone, which I will get to later. Ward and
Anderson stand watching the blacks and whites come together in a time of grievance. This scene
helped me understand what a big impact the KKK had on the whites. The whites could have kept their
distance from the blacks, even after the members of the KKK has been arrested, but they chose not to.
This shows that the whites were purely agreeing with the KKK out of fear. I could tell that Ward and
Anderson were happy with the peace they made after solving the case of the three missing boys.
During the closing scene, there were many camera angles used. I feel there were two important ones.
The first was the close up. The close up was used to show the grief on the peoples faces as they stood
and sang about freedom. I think the decision to use a close up in this scene was good, because it let us
see what the characters were feeling at the time. Secondly there was a panorama shot. The shot panned
from where the group was singing, all the way around to James Chaney s grave stone. This showed
how all the graves in the grave yard were still intact apart from his. I know I mention how things were
looking up, but this was a step down. I wish the movie would ve kept going, because I was eager to
know what

Essay about The Impact Of Religious Settlers In Religious...
The places where we live today have not always been here. The way we live has not always been the
same. In fact, very few places that existed back in the colonial times exist today. If they still exist, it is
because of the success gained over the years gone by after the settlers came to the New World. Settlers
came to the New World in search of many things. They came in search of gold, they came for new
lives, and they came for religious freedom.
In England, during this time period, people were being judged, separated and persecuted on the basis
of their religious beliefs. There were two groups of people that were unhappy with the Church. These

The Puritans are known for founding the Massachusetts Bay Colony. These people of the journey also
set out for their self government to be a commonwealth, which is a community founded on law and

Among these people who were busy trying to remake a remarkable Christian life, there were people
who didn t necessarily agree with the common viewpoint. These people became known as dissenters.
Dissenters were often persecuted for their beliefs, and just a few up and went and actually made a
difference. They are still recognized today.
In the colony of Rhode Island, there was one main dissenter who was very well known. He was the
assistant pastor in Salem in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. He had two main thoughts that got him
into trouble with his community. One was the fact that he questioned the legality of the colony s
charter, since the Indians had not been paid for the taking of their land. Another point was the fact that
he believed that the civil government of the colony had no right to punish religious dissenters. He felt
that people s personal views of the religion should not be punished because everyone is entitled to
their own opinion.
Soon after he stated his thoughts, Roger Williams was banished from the colony. He went off and

Informative Essay On Rosetta Getty
What is fashion? That is not a question that I see myself and anyone in the near future giving
definiteness answer to. Fashion is not just clothing but rather a declaration that one person picks to
identify themselves; even if someone opposes to what they choose to wear. Clothing is not only a
fabric stitched together but rather the hopes the creator had for those initially bland fabrics which are
what defines Rosetta Getty. Therefore, fashion is a feeling rather than option and what makes a

bring out the trash and cut their grass. This makes it look more authentic. Gang members operating out
of San Francisco set up operations in the Stockton, Modesto and Sacramento suburbs. These pot farms
are nationwide and the seizures have soared. A drug commonly used by youths is Marijuana, and in
relation Hashish. Commonly called pot , or grass , marijuana is produced from the leaves of Cannabis
sativa. Hashish is a concentrated form of cannabis made from unadulterated resin from the female
plant. The main active ingredient in both marijuana and hashish is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a mild
hallucinogen. Marijuana is the most common drug used amongst teenagers. (Juvenile Delinquency,
The Core, Second Edition ), (Larry J. Siegel, Brandon C. Welsh, 2005 , P. 233/Chapter 10). Smoking

Sherlock Series Monologues
Evidence in the above passage that suggests that Caitlin Moran is an enthusiastic fan of the Sherlock
series is that the article she wrote about the Sherlock series is called My Love Affair with Sherlock
which she published in The Times . The language she used in the title suggests that Caitlin Moran is
an enthusiastic fan of the Sherlock series because she describes her love of Sherlock as a Love Affair .
Another evidence in the above passage that Caitlin Moran is an enthusiastic fan of the Sherlock series
is that she was at the series two premiere at the British Film Institute where only the dedicated
Sherlock fans have been camping in the bitter cold, since 5.30am . The way she describes the series

Caitlin Moran expresses the feeling of excitement amongst the fans of Sherlock when she stated that
dedicated Sherlock fans have been camping in the bitter cold, since 5.30am and that the fifty most

joy when the opening credits begin in a room full of love and excitement and that this is the first time I
have ever seen a plot point so clever and unexpected that it prompts a whole room to applaud it .
Afterwards, the joy of the occasion is expressed by Steven Moffat when he tells Caitlin Moran that it s
never going to get any better than this and until we write the next series, obviously... that s going to be

Book Summary of the Use and Abuse of Biology
Part 1
Marshall Sahlins is one of the most prominent American anthropologists of our time. He holds the title
of Charles F. Grey Distinguished Service Professor of Anthropology at the University of Chicago
where he presently teaches. Marshall Sahlins , The Use and Abuse of Biology, is an excellent text,
which attacks both the logical errors of sociobiology and its ideological distortions. His work focuses
on demonstrating the power that culture has to shape people s perceptions and actions and that culture
has a unique power to motivate people, which is not derived from biology or for that matter any other
of the natural sciences. In the text, The Use And Abuse of Biology, Sahlins reveals his true worries

30). Sahlins gives mathematical formulas for kin loss contingent on the total number of descent
groups and the actual rule of intermarriage between them. The author argues that biological
inheritance is not an individual function, as a child does not receive his or her genetic makeup from
either his or her parents. Furthermore, the matrilineal descent group is a single entity in an organic
heritage: these members of that particular group according to mathematical formulation have a co
efficient relationship of 1.
Sahlins also argues that the structure of social interest is not constituted by genetic factors of an
individual nature. Yet, the theory of kinship dominates a large portion of the text and he explores kin
selection. This theory of kin selection has been tested in Polynesia. The advantages of testing for kin
selection in Polynesia are best put forward for these following reasons. First, Polynesian societies can
afford structural conditions favorable for the operation of kin selection. Second, descent is bilaterally
reckoned and Polynesians are renowned for the value the race as a whole attaches to genealogies. He
explains that this formula is important as it accounts for altruism and a whole collection of socially
undesirable behaviors. Behaviors that individuals often cannot abide are displayed by significant
others in our communities such as greed or ingratitude or selfishness. These negative

Macular Degeneration (MD)
As humans, we don t always see with our eyes, but often with our imagination (Grunwald, 2016).
Often times as people we never realize how useful our vision really is to us. You really don t think
about something like that until it would actual happen to you. Throughout this essay, you will learn
how the body is affected by Macular Degeneration (MD). Different signs and symptoms, as well as
the etiology of MD, will be discussed. In the following, diagnosis tests and treatments may also be
listed in order to help others who would like to know more about MD. Not to mention, you will learn
the incidence and progression of MD. Furthermore, information though agencies and associations, as
well as new research about MD will be given. Macular Degeneration ... Show more content on

Current Educational Status Of Children With Disabilities...
Current educational status of children with disabilities Differing combinations of structural factors
(such as caste, gender, religion, poverty etc.) intersect with disability resulting in varied individual
experiences, but the broad commonalities that shape the lives of people with disabilities in India
transcend these divisions. Their lives are largely marked by poverty and marginalisation from
mainstream social processes. A recent study by the World Bank (2007), for example, noted that
children with disability are five times more likely to be out of school than children belonging to
scheduled castes or scheduled tribes (SC or ST). Moreover, when children with disability do attend
school they rarely progress beyond the primary level, leading ultimately to lower employment chances
and long term income poverty. Government documents also describe marked variations in the
provisions envisaged for different marginalised groups. Historically, SCs/STs have had a strong
political lobby since independence and this is reflected in the provisions made for them. Article 46 of
the Constitution makes a straightforward commitment to promoting the special care and education of
SC/ST populations, whereas Article 41 referring to children with disabilities, states: The State shall
within the limits of its economic capacity and development make effective provision for securing the
right to work, old age, sickness and disablement. The clause, within the limits of the State s economic

Copper Carbonate Lab Report
The reaction characteristics of basic copper carbonate 〖mCuCO〗_3⋅n〖Cu(OH)〗_2 were
observed by changing the reaction mole ratio. The reaction mole ratio of sodium carbonate to copper
chloride (II) was controlled from 1.08 to 1.68. Fig. 1 shows the XRD patterns of copper carbonate
powder. At a reaction ratio of 1.08, paratacamite (Cu_2 Cl(OH)_3 ), beside alkali copper carbonate,
was formed because of incomplete reaction at a copper content of 53.9 wt%. Lack of sodium
carbonate may cause incomplete reaction with copper chloride (II) because of low pH (6.0) of the
solution [12]. The copper content according to the reaction mole ratio were 57.7, 50.5, 58.8, 59.3, and
59.8 wt% at the reaction mole ratios of 1.20, 1.32, 1.44, 1.56, and 1.68, respectively. ... Show more

The malachite basic copper carbonate formed as CuCO3 ⋅ Cu(OH)2 shows bright green, whereas that
of azurite formed as 2CuCO3 ⋅ Cu(OH)2 shows strong blue. In this study, most of the manufactured
copper carbonate was converted to malachite basic copper carbonate of bright green at the reaction
mole ratio of 1.20. In the case of low reaction ratio of sodium carbonate, m, the stoichiometric
coefficients of CuCO3, is higher than n, the stoichiometric coefficient of Cu(OH)2, so that the amount
of CuCO3 is generated is more than that of Cu(OH)2. With increasing reaction mole ratio of sodium
carbonate, m is lower than n so that the generation rate of CuCO_3 is lower than that of Cu〖(OH)〗
_2. Therefore, copper content increased with increasing sodium carbonate. With assumption of same
value of m and n, theoretical copper content becomes 57.5

Analysis of Mrs Hayward from the Novel Spies by Michael...
How is the character of Mrs Hayward developed throughout the opening 3 chapter of Frayn s Spies ?
Mrs Hayward is a contradictory character who is established through Stephen s fragmented memory to
be both a character of smiling perfection and a broken woman, sitting in the dust weeping. She is both
the embodiment of a perfect British wartime wife and a character of suspicion; a spy, a traitor, the
epitome of deceit and the focus of two young boys overzealous imagination. When the reader is first
introduced to this character it is through the listing of three declarative clauses in one of Stephen s
long, complex sentences. It is here that his fragmented memory is emphasised by the fragmented
syntax where only glimpses of Mrs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The antithesis of weeping and laughing highlight to the reader how Mrs Hayward is a character who
evokes feelings of both happiness and shame in Stephen, due to her respective actions and emotions.
She is a fragmented and incomplete character who is portrayed to the audience through an anaphoric
series of present tense memories, which make her actions, and consequent responses of the narrator,
seem immediate and continual. She is a character who evokes an emotional response in our narrator
almost sixty years after unknown events have occurred, suggesting to the reader that she is going to be
central to his journey down memory lane . When Mrs Hayward is next introduced to the reader it is
through elderly Stephen s third person account of what would have happened if young Stephen had
asked Keith to play at his house for the afternoon. This hypothetical pondering of the narrator occurs
after a substantial amount of description has been dedicated to Keith s home, room and father,
suggesting to the reader that these male characters were the main objects of focus for young Stephen,
Keith because he idolised his friend and his father because Stephen clearly feared him. Mrs Hayward
then appears with her perfectly plucked eyebrow while she is reclining on a sofa and looking up from
her library book . Frayn has positioned Mrs Hayward in the domestic sphere of the house and then
used stative verbs to show her lack of movement

The National Association For Music Education
Break Point 4.1
The National Association for Music Education has several general standards put into place (the
National Coalition for Core Arts Standards). These standards center around the theme of music
literacy and attempt to improve the three most important aspects of music learning: creating,
performing, and responding. These aspects are designed to be applied to a student s musical
performance as well as their conduct in the community. The standards are used throughout the United
States, introducing new topics throughout a child s preschool 8th grade education. They are also
provided in small strands throughout high schools. Teachers implement these techniques through the
teaching of theory, music history, collaboration, creating and performing throughout their own
individual curricula. They also have created Model Cornerstone Assessments, which are designed to
measure a student s academic achievement and performance within the Core Arts Standards. As far as
arts in the schools go, NAfME also has several organizations which help to promote music in schools
across America. I believe that having these national requirements is extremely beneficial in that
students across America will be learning similar concepts in the same efficient manner, giving each
individual student an opportunity to thrive as well as any other fellow American student. I do think,
though, that there should be ways for these codes can be more enforced, as I had never really heard of

Information Security Information Analysis
Data security is not just imperative to consumers whose information is stored; it is also significant to
the organizations who store this information. A failure to secure information can impede a business in
a number of ways. Losing information that gives an organization a competitive advantage can lead the
destruction of; and cause consumers to abandon the organization and seek out another organization to
do business with.
Data is information that is changed and stored into useful reports. The role of a security expert is to
prepare, plan and alleviate potential dangers that could steal or cause damage to that data. As an
employee of a video game development company, my role as an Information Security Engineer is
significant to the organization s prosperity.
With reports from the CIO that malicious activity is on the rise, analyzing the system is essential to
guarantee that the data that is critical to the organization s success is secured. Since assaults must be
executed on a framework with vulnerabilities, I should analyze the system to address concerns, for
example, backdoors, patches and updates, security to server rooms, appropriate security for access of

Pathetic Fallacy In The War Of The Worlds HG Wells The War Of The Worlds HG Wells uses literacy techniques in The War Of The Worlds to add tension and create a better more frightening atmosphere. He uses four main types of literacy techniques that are: · Juxtaposition · Pathetic fallacy · Omniscient viewpoint · And cliffhangers The meaning of these are as followed: · Juxtaposition this is where two completely different facts are put next to each other to make a comparison that stands out clearly and completely changes the atmosphere. · Pathetic fallacy this is where the weather matches the mood of some one. · Omniscient viewpoint the author and the reader knows what is going to happen but the character does not. · Cliffhanger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the 1800`s civilization was the most important thing. If a man did not wear a hat he was accused of being poor and even if he was middle class a hat and a suit was the only way of recognizing status. Clothes were the way in which people could tell if you were rich or poor. In the book when the man loses his hat no one helps him and suspects him of just being a poor person begging. Civilization starts to break down in this book not that far off from when the Martians come to earth. People start being selfish and getting themselves out of harms way and do not even try to bother helping the women and children. That was a mans duty to make sure, in any danger, to save his wife and children. The main character of this book outbids another buyer in a public house for buying the horse and cart. He gets away with it. When he goes back to the town guilt rises upon him as he finds the landlord who he bought the horse and cart off dead It was the landlord of the Spotted Dog, whose conveyance I had taken . In the wreck of this little town and soon to be more social convention had broken down. People of the church and vicars are losing faith and are starting to flee. Doctors who have swore the oath of loyalty to help all people in need have broken down and fled.

  • 4. Similarities Between Muir And Wordsworth s Relationship... Henry David Thoreau once said, It s not what you look at that matters, it s what you see. William Wordsworth, the author of the poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud, and John Muir, author of the essay The Calypso Borealis, have proved this in their works by looking at nature and portraying it differently but beautifully in each piece. They have been able to express their relationships with nature differently through choices about format, such as if a rhyme scheme will be used; their word choice, like choosing to give something a specific name; as well as through literary devices used, including tone, mood, and irony, but, even though they made many different choices, their works are both able to make nature seem beautiful and mysterious. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think the most noticeable difference in the two pieces is the tone and somewhat in mood. The atmosphere Muir creates in his essay evolves as it goes on. When he first begins describing his experience looking for the Calypso Borealis, he seems to be having a lot of trouble with his environment, causing him to see nature in a negative way and be fearful of it. This is demonstrated well in this quote from paragraph two where he says he was struggling through tangled and drooping branches However, after he sees the Calypso Borealis he completely changes his view on nature and seems to respect it more and enjoy being in it more than he did before. You can see this as early as paragraph one where he is reflecting on his time botanising in glorious freedom . Wordsworth, on the other hand, always has the same opinion on nature; he sees it as a beautiful force and as something to observe and not to interfere with. He demonstrates this when he describes nature such as fluttering and dancing in the breeze or when he talks about sparkling waves of glee . The way Muir describes nature and the fact that his point of view changes as he spends more time in it once again makes it seem like he sees nature more like an equal. He recognizes that just because it seemed dangerous at first, it does not necessarily mean that it is. It appears that he sees nature like a person or a companion more than like an outside force. ... Through illustrating Billy Pilgrim s constant struggle to fit in with his peers during the war, Vonnegut proposes the question Must males adopt masculine characteristics in order to receive respect from others? By juxtaposing the negative criticisms towards the young, effeminate Billy Pilgrim during his youth with the positive responses received by both the manly, adult Billy Pilgrim and the masculine soldiers, Vonnegut asserts that a man s masculinity determines his societal ranking and acquisition of respect. He had just been elected President (Vonnegut 63). In addition, the crowd was excitedly pink and beaming and they waited for Billy s speech. The immense support shown through the the crowd s positive response and Billy s new, powerful position reveals the power associated with masculinity. Not only did Billy s new adoption of masculine qualities result in an increase of popularity, but Billy s simple transformation of a deeper tone of voice also allowed him to garner approval from the public about his absurd stories about Tralfamadore. Previous to adopting his new voice, individuals dismissed even simple statements from Billy Pilgrim. For example, when Billy insisted that he was in Dresden, his hospital roommate named Rumfoord brushed Billy off, stating that He s simply echoing things we say (Vonnegut 246). However, as an adult, when Billy spoke in that beautifully trained voice of his, telling about the flying saucers and Montana Wildhack and so on, he was met with immense (Vonnegut 264). Billy s popularity even reached a peak where police were employed to protect him from the crush of popularity (Vonnegut 181). Without the populace living within a mental state of worry, and being constantly agitated by the looming threat of capital punishment, the European continent would not be unified between the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries. This concept of mass horror and tyranny was modelled around the use of capital punishment, torture, and execution, and through the public action of these forms of justice, the monarchs and spiritual leaders kept an ability to rule with an iron fist over the populace of a nation state. However execution was also a public affair and was enjoyed by the masses to a large extent due to the sense of justice and vengeance it created, and a feeling of freedom from lawless criminals due to the large punishment awaiting them if citizens were to break the strict and direct laws of kingdoms. Another reason accountability is needed is so you know where weapons are located. In leadership roles, accountability is the acknowledgment of responsibility for actions, decisions, and resulting consequences. Some of those consequences can be loss of pay, loss of rank, or loss of job. Introduction: Research Question: How does changing the volume of Hydrochloric Acid on Sodium Thiosulphate effect the time taken for the X Mark to dissapear? The rate of a chemical reaction is the time required for a given quantity of reactant to be changed to product. The unit of time may be seconds, minutes, hours, days or years. For a chemical reaction to occur it needs to have a collision, and it is affected by several factors, such as temperature increases in general increase the rate of reaction, for the example 2O°C rise in temperature doubles the reaction rate. The scientific result for this experimet is the results from preliminary experiments support the prediction made. From the results you can see that there is a directly proportional relationship between the concentration and the rate of reaction. Ifyou increase the concentration then the rate of reaction will also increase. The volume of a solution will effect the rate of reaction because the rate of reaction depends on how much the molecules of reacting substance will collide, more volume of HCL make the reaction of Sodium Thiosulphate and HCL to react faster. This experiment is testing how the rate of reaction is affected when volume is changed. The theory is said that increasing the volume can increase the rate of reaction by increasing the rate of molecular collisions. The urgent nature of the circumstances and the availability of limited options (sub division of homes, trees of vacant land) provide a basis for implied consent. Implied in fact consent would be an objective manifestation as a reasonable person would consent under the circumstances especially when taking into account the loss of life against the loss of property. Per case law, the courts have ruled that loss of life over shadows loss of property. Similarly, implied in law consent would need to be reviewed under the rule of law and the benefit of the public, considering the options between landing on a housing tract versus landing on a vacant farm where the potential of damages would be significantly lower. • 30. The piracy of software, images, video, audio, and text has long been a concern for owners of these digital assets. Protection schemes are usually based upon the insertion of digital watermarks into the data. The watermarking software introduces small errors into the object being watermarked. These intentional errors are called marks, and all the marks together constitute the watermark. The marks are chosen so as to have an insignificant impact on the usefulness of the data and are placed in such a way that a malicious user cannot destroy them without making the data significantly less useful. Although watermarking does not prevent illegal copying, it deters such copying by providing a means for establishing the original ownership of a redistributed copy. The increasing use of databases in applications beyond behind the firewalls data processing is creating a similar need for watermarking databases. What I mean by that is that life is something very short, filled with beautiful moments as well as dark and disturbing ones (well, if we are being technical, life is the longest thing any of us will experience). One moment that nobody can seem to decide which category it belongs in, is college. College for some people can be this once in a lifetime experience that creates friendship, memories, and everlasting knowledge. While for others it is absolute misery and stress. Regardless of all of that, college is an incredibly tough decision that comes down to intelligence, money, and future careers. All of which are choices of which many people fear to make in life. Bowling Green and Findlay University both seem to be very sound and reasonable choices; however, Bowling Green looks to be the better choice due to costs and their business programs. As for Bowling Green, which is my first choice, was actually the second college I had visited. It had a massive campus, well, at least compared to what I expected. It had hundreds of dorms and plenty of faculty to go around for the students. Needless to say that during that first visit, I was blown away and beyond impressed with everything I saw. This poster is of the women of the modern world Rosie. She is wearing a jean shirt with rolled sleeve as she flexes her arm to show her strength. The artist J. Howard Miller created one of the most iconic posters of all time. The Rosie the Riveter poster was made as propaganda to encourage women to join the workforce, as the men fought in World War 2. The meaning behind the poster Rosie the Riveter has stayed the same throughout time, giving women a sense of entitlement. As a result, society has held women to different standards than men. Women are held to different expectations than men in terms of beauty, loyalty, and traditional obligations especially as subservient housewives. There is an urgent need to change the mindset of society. The central issue facing young women in today s society is the standards that hold them to higher expectations than men in the areas of beauty, romantic relationships, and household duties. Society has created the stereotype that women are petite and dainty. No Name Woman emphasizes this expectation by elaborating on the extremes that women go to look beautiful. But one of the biggest problems that seem to be plaguing the agricultural industry, specifically the cabbage and lettuce industry, is pests. One pest in particular is the diamondback moth, and it has been wreaking havoc all over New York. However, all is not lost; there still will be cabbage and lettuce in the grocery store. The reason for this? Scientists have come up with an effective new way to manage the diamondback moth, and it isn t reliant on pesticides. It uses genes. But, best of all, it won t be one farmer paying for one treatment. It will be a universal movement, and this movement has the possibility to revolutionize the crucifer, or, in more simple terms, the cabbage and lettuce market. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The diamondback moth is an invasive species that is believed to have originated in Europe. Since it was not originally native to New York, it has few natural predators, so the population can easily spiral out of control. It is brown and tan in appearance and is somewhat elongated in shape. Females lay approximately 150 eggs at a time, but they can lay up to 300. In addition, the moth only lives for up to 16 days. This may not seem like a long time to us because we live for decades, but the diamondback moth is laying eggs for ten out of those sixteen days (Capinera, 2000). Now think about it. That s a lot of larvae in a short amount of time. This can be a big problem for farmers, especially because the problem comes in the form of a common moth. • 38. Mississippi Burning Closing Scene Analysis Mississippi Burning Describe the closing scene of the text. Explain how the closing scene helped you to understand at least one important aspect of the film. In the film Mississippi burning, directed by Alan Parker, there are many important scenes. One that I found most important was the closing scene. Three things that helped portray the closing scene were, music, camera angles and their body language/facial expressions. The music in the closing scene was sad and eerily, signaling the sadness and death that had recently accorded. A black woman sings a song that brings hope, saying But we must walk home, by faith . Then soon after these words are sung the rest of the group (whit and black) begin to join in. I think this is an important part of the closing scene, because it shows that, after everything that has happened, the blacks and whites now stand together and sing about freedom to the ones they lost. The only disappointment in this scene is James Chaney s grave stone, which I will get to later. Ward and Anderson stand watching the blacks and whites come together in a time of grievance. This scene helped me understand what a big impact the KKK had on the whites. The whites could have kept their distance from the blacks, even after the members of the KKK has been arrested, but they chose not to. This shows that the whites were purely agreeing with the KKK out of fear. I could tell that Ward and Anderson were happy with the peace they made after solving the case of the three missing boys. During the closing scene, there were many camera angles used. I feel there were two important ones. The first was the close up. The close up was used to show the grief on the peoples faces as they stood and sang about freedom. I think the decision to use a close up in this scene was good, because it let us see what the characters were feeling at the time. Secondly there was a panorama shot. The shot panned from where the group was singing, all the way around to James Chaney s grave stone. This showed how all the graves in the grave yard were still intact apart from his. Sahlins gives mathematical formulas for kin loss contingent on the total number of descent groups and the actual rule of intermarriage between them. The author argues that biological inheritance is not an individual function, as a child does not receive his or her genetic makeup from either his or her parents. Furthermore, the matrilineal descent group is a single entity in an organic heritage: these members of that particular group according to mathematical formulation have a co efficient relationship of 1. Sahlins also argues that the structure of social interest is not constituted by genetic factors of an individual nature. Yet, the theory of kinship dominates a large portion of the text and he explores kin selection. This theory of kin selection has been tested in Polynesia. The advantages of testing for kin selection in Polynesia are best put forward for these following reasons. First, Polynesian societies can afford structural conditions favorable for the operation of kin selection. Second, descent is bilaterally reckoned and Polynesians are renowned for the value the race as a whole attaches to genealogies. He explains that this formula is important as it accounts for altruism and a whole collection of socially undesirable behaviors. Current educational status of children with disabilities Differing combinations of structural factors (such as caste, gender, religion, poverty etc.) intersect with disability resulting in varied individual experiences, but the broad commonalities that shape the lives of people with disabilities in India transcend these divisions. Their lives are largely marked by poverty and marginalisation from mainstream social processes. A recent study by the World Bank (2007), for example, noted that children with disability are five times more likely to be out of school than children belonging to scheduled castes or scheduled tribes (SC or ST). Moreover, when children with disability do attend school they rarely progress beyond the primary level, leading ultimately to lower employment chances and long term income poverty. Government documents also describe marked variations in the provisions envisaged for different marginalised groups. Historically, SCs/STs have had a strong political lobby since independence and this is reflected in the provisions made for them. Article 46 of the Constitution makes a straightforward commitment to promoting the special care and education of SC/ST populations, whereas Article 41 referring to children with disabilities, states: The State shall within the limits of its economic capacity and development make effective provision for securing the right to work, old age, sickness and disablement. In this study, most of the manufactured copper carbonate was converted to malachite basic copper carbonate of bright green at the reaction mole ratio of 1.20. In the case of low reaction ratio of sodium carbonate, m, the stoichiometric coefficients of CuCO3, is higher than n, the stoichiometric coefficient of Cu(OH)2, so that the amount of CuCO3 is generated is more than that of Cu(OH)2. With increasing reaction mole ratio of sodium carbonate, m is lower than n so that the generation rate of CuCO_3 is lower than that of Cu〖(OH)〗 _2. Therefore, copper content increased with increasing sodium carbonate. With assumption of same value of m and n, theoretical copper content becomes 57.5 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Analysis of Mrs Hayward from the Novel Spies by Michael... How is the character of Mrs Hayward developed throughout the opening 3 chapter of Frayn s Spies ? Mrs Hayward is a contradictory character who is established through Stephen s fragmented memory to be both a character of smiling perfection and a broken woman, sitting in the dust weeping. She is both the embodiment of a perfect British wartime wife and a character of suspicion; a spy, a traitor, the epitome of deceit and the focus of two young boys overzealous imagination. When the reader is first introduced to this character it is through the listing of three declarative clauses in one of Stephen s long, complex sentences. It is here that his fragmented memory is emphasised by the fragmented syntax where only glimpses of Mrs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The antithesis of weeping and laughing highlight to the reader how Mrs Hayward is a character who evokes feelings of both happiness and shame in Stephen, due to her respective actions and emotions. She is a fragmented and incomplete character who is portrayed to the audience through an anaphoric series of present tense memories, which make her actions, and consequent responses of the narrator, seem immediate and continual. She is a character who evokes an emotional response in our narrator almost sixty years after unknown events have occurred, suggesting to the reader that she is going to be central to his journey down memory lane . When Mrs Hayward is next introduced to the reader it is through elderly Stephen s third person account of what would have happened if young Stephen had asked Keith to play at his house for the afternoon. This hypothetical pondering of the narrator occurs after a substantial amount of description has been dedicated to Keith s home, room and father, suggesting to the reader that these male characters were the main objects of focus for young Stephen, Keith because he idolised his friend and his father because Stephen clearly feared him. Mrs Hayward then appears with her perfectly plucked eyebrow while she is reclining on a sofa and looking up from her library book . Frayn has positioned Mrs Hayward in the domestic sphere of the house and then used stative verbs to show her lack of movement ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. The National Association For Music Education Break Point 4.1 The National Association for Music Education has several general standards put into place (the National Coalition for Core Arts Standards). These standards center around the theme of music literacy and attempt to improve the three most important aspects of music learning: creating, performing, and responding. These aspects are designed to be applied to a student s musical performance as well as their conduct in the community. The standards are used throughout the United States, introducing new topics throughout a child s preschool 8th grade education. They are also provided in small strands throughout high schools. Teachers implement these techniques through the teaching of theory, music history, collaboration, creating and performing throughout their own individual curricula. They also have created Model Cornerstone Assessments, which are designed to measure a student s academic achievement and performance within the Core Arts Standards. As far as arts in the schools go, NAfME also has several organizations which help to promote music in schools across America. I believe that having these national requirements is extremely beneficial in that students across America will be learning similar concepts in the same efficient manner, giving each individual student an opportunity to thrive as well as any other fellow American student. I do think, though, that there should be ways for these codes can be more enforced, as I had never really heard of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Information Security Information Analysis Data security is not just imperative to consumers whose information is stored; it is also significant to the organizations who store this information. A failure to secure information can impede a business in a number of ways. Losing information that gives an organization a competitive advantage can lead the destruction of; and cause consumers to abandon the organization and seek out another organization to do business with. Data is information that is changed and stored into useful reports. The role of a security expert is to prepare, plan and alleviate potential dangers that could steal or cause damage to that data. As an employee of a video game development company, my role as an Information Security Engineer is significant to the organization s prosperity. With reports from the CIO that malicious activity is on the rise, analyzing the system is essential to guarantee that the data that is critical to the organization s success is secured. Since assaults must be executed on a framework with vulnerabilities, I should analyze the system to address concerns, for example, backdoors, patches and updates, security to server rooms, appropriate security for access of data, and so forth. By guaranteeing and testing the system, you can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such software comes in many forms; including adware, viruses, worms and spyware. Each of these malicious programs can infect a computer a number of ways, for example, through corrupted emails, downloaded files or web sites.
