An overall thriller, Robert Roy Britt s, Closure, book one in his Eli Quinn detective series, catapults
the series off to a great start as it entertains readers with an intriguing introduction to his hard
punching, yet sentimental, tough guy detective. As the premiere book in this hard boiled detective
series, readers will find their curiosity roused by its emotional richness, fascinating characters, hard
edged action and web like intrigue. Author Britt is an able story teller who knows how to immediately

Nick Kroll Big Mouth Themes
The Netflix Original show Big Mouth by Nick Kroll is an animated series all about middle school
students and all of their experiences going through puberty. These students go through some awkward
moments, which people can relate to. I mean who didn t go through awkward moments at that stage in
life? It shows a variety of life experiences such as first kisses, first period, random erections,
fascination with sex, and much more. The show is very vulgar and has a lot of inappropriate scenes. If
you aren t the kind of person who finds swearing or sex jokes funny, then this definitely is not the
show for you. One of the main characters is the Hormone Monster and he just might be the most
vulgar character I have ever seen out of any show. Have you ever seen a show where someone is
making a decision, and a mini angel and devil pop up on a character s shoulders to help that person
make the decision? Well this is like that, only there is no angel and the Hormone Monster stands over
six feet tall. He puts the character Andrew through awkward hormonal changes in just about every

We see a lot different scenes where the main character Nick second guesses his trust in his friend
Andrew. In one specific scene the character Andrew is helping Nick s girlfriend because she has her
first period. Nick was expecting his girlfriend to meet him at the top of the Statue of Liberty to take a
picture. When she doesn t show up, he starts looking for her and sees her hugging Andrew. He thinks
that something was going on between them and gets mad at his friend and makes a huge deal out of it.
Andrew then eventually explains that he was just helping her because she had her period. He then
apologizes to Andrew for his overreaction. I feel like while this scene is very specific it outlines how
people have trust issues even with their closest friends. Especially during a time where hormones are
making you go through changes that you don t

United States V. Texas Case Analysis
The Highest court in the United States is the Supreme Court. The Court consists of nine Justices, 1
Chief and eight Associate Justices. Cases that make it to the supreme courts are cases that have been
heard and decided from lower courts at the State level. Which cases get picked? For the Judges to
actually hear the case 4 of the 9 justices have to agree to hear the case. The Supreme Court does not
have the time to hear every case because of time and resource constraints. Nevertheless, if a petition is
granted it goes on the discussion list for approval. The Supreme Court only hears cases that involve
federal issues. The Supreme Court will ignore the case that involved issues with the State. To mention
a few examples of cases the Supreme Court has heard. First, if a case involves a federal issue. Second,
if a case raises a new constitutional question. Finally, if two different appeals court issue two different

millions of families together. However, soon after the initiatives were announced Texas and 25 other

overstepped its legal authority to enforce the immigration law. On January 19, 2016 the Supreme
Court announced it would accept the case. The Supreme Court accepted the case based off a few
reasons. First, the Justices decided this case brought up several federal law questions with the
government overstepping their boundaries. Lastly, there was an inconsistency between the Fifth
Circuit court and U.S. District Court with two different rulings on a federal issue. The Supreme Court

Anthropogenic Climate Change
Anthropogenic Climate Change
Brandie Fonseca Informal Logic 103
Instructor John Moore
May 21, 2012
An issue that is felt throughout the world is Anthropogenic Climate Change formally known as Global
Warming. This word wide problem is one that needs to be addressed immediately as well as long term.
Anthropogenic Climate Change is the rise of the earth s temperature caused by human activities. The
continuing rise in the earth s temperature will cause extreme change in our earth s ecosystems. The
predetermined course to our ecosystems relies on climate change and its effects on ecosystems and life
as we know it is at a vulnerable state. Anthropogenic Climate Change shifts relations with human life

The estimated cost is that of 1.8 billion dollars (Trouble in Store, 2009). The fact is at this point it is
just an estimation and the reality of the cost factor will not be accurate until the carbon capture
technology is commercially launched which, is years away (Gunther, 2011). The International Energy
Agency (IEA) reckons the world will need over 200 power plants equipped with Carbon Capture
Systems by 2030 to limit the rise in average global temperatures to about 3°C (Trouble in Store,
2009). People have been aware of the rise in the earth s temperature and its effects however, many
persuaded themselves that there was really no immediate danger as well as, there was nothing one
could do to mitigate the issue and felt higher authorities were responsible for outcomes and resolutions
(Wearts, 2011). On the contrary there is immediate danger and long term affect to our earth if our earth
s temperature continues to rise. Polar caps and glaciers will melt resulting in major changes in our
ecosystems and causing the sea level to rise (McKibben, 2009). Anthropogenic Climate Change has
caused the uprising of precipitation intensity and or dry spells, and wind patterns (Giorgi, Coppola,
Diffenbaugh, Gao, Mariotti amp; Shi, 2011). Precipitation intensity up rises due to the increased
atmospheric water holding volume. The increase is related to surface evaporation rates ultimately,

The Jefferson Country Library
The site which I have selected for my site research paper, is the Jefferson Country Library located in
425 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY, 10011. I believe this site is a good match for this paper
and this class because not only is it an ordinary library, it also holds many historical events. First and
foremost, the Jefferson Country Library was originally a courthouse. There was a civil court on the
second floor, which is now the Adult Reading Room and a police court, which is now the first floor
Children s Room. Also, the Reference Room was a holding area for prisoners that were on their way
to jail or trial. In addition, the library is known for some of the famous, even sensational trials that

In households across America, teenagers and parents do not traditionally get along. Donny a teenage

Hennessey Venom Swot Analysis
A car to a normal person will get you from point A to point B and not think anything different. To
other individuals, a car is actually a part of its owner. They treat it as part of the family. These
individuals will take their pride and joy and manipulate their automobile to get the most out of it. This
could be just for looks or for performance. One of the most important things to a car junkie looks for
is speed. Since the day the automobile was created, individuals kept pushing the limits of how fast
they could go. The Model T when it was invented had a top speed between 40 45 MPH back in 1919.
These days, individuals have been able to slightly improve upon those numbers. In 2014, a Hennessey
Venom GT, a combination of a Lotus Elise chassis and 1,244 hp 7.0 liter twin turbocharged V8, was
recorded as exceeding 270.49 mph. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

most make a pass back and forth as to take wind into account and average the time. Since the

speed as the world s fastest car. While everyone loves to drive fast, only a few are able to say they
have driven the fastest ever. It will only be a matter of time before we have automobiles that could
well top 300 MPH. The more science and computers play into the area of creating the fastest
automobile, the records, we feel, will be breaking over and over again for a long time to

Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is when someone is experiencing episodes of cessation of breaths
during sleep because of their upper airway relaxing and obstructing air flow during sleep. The
episodes usually last for ten seconds or greater and is usually accompanied with a decreased oxygen
saturation. Although the airway is relaxed and obstructing airflow, the body (brain) is still attempting
to breathe. When breathing has resumed from its apneic state, there is usually a loud gasping snore
and or body jerking which can lead to restless sleep for the person with OSA and their partner.
According the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute more than twelve million people in the United
States have this clinical disorder. People who have OSA may be sleepy in the day and experience
subsequent disorders such as oxyhemoglobin desaturation, pulmonary hypertension, right sided heart
failure, arrhythmias, myocardial infarction and diabetes. Proper diagnosing and treatment of a person
with OSA can yield optimal results thereby improving quality of life.
Some causes or risk factors of Obstructive Sleep Apnea are being overweight or obese, having a large
neck, having a narrow airway, high blood pressure, diabetes, being middle aged, and having a genetic
predisposition. Patients with OSA seem to have high cholesterol with an increase in LDL s and a
decrease in HDL s (good cholesterol (Nadeem R, 2014). Intermittent sleep or sleep deprivation causes
changes in the way the body metabolizes

How War Affects People s Life
In Soldier Home by Ernest Hemingway and Grass by Carl Sandburg writes about war and how it
affects people s life.In Soldiers Home the author writes about a character who has experienced a
deadly and destructed war and how it affects him for the rest of his life.In Grass, the author writes that
how cruel and inhumane the war is and human kills another human and lets nature cover their dirty
work.In my opinion, both authors hate war because it is too cruel and depressing and it changes people
s lives who experienced them. Authors of both stories do not like war because it is so cruel,
destructive and depressing. In Soldiers Home the author writes about a character Kerb who returned

In the poem, it says pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo. Shovel them under and let me

occurred, and what the author implies is that, regardless of how disastrous human being are, nature
acts as a veil which covers up the ugliness of society with beauty. Nature still goes on during and after
the war and continuingly covering human dirty work. Humans forget the history and repeat the same
mistakes and cause wars, but life still goes on. In conclusion, I will say that wars are cruel, depressing
and they change people s life who go through them, as both authors proved that point in their stories.
In Soldier s Home , the character Kerb who experiences that destructed war changes his life. His point
of view towards the world changes permanently. He becomes a depressing person in life. In Grass ,

My First Year Of Freshmen
If you Google the definition of community one of the options will say, A feeling of fellowship with
others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals. Now there are many different
communities I could fit in with. I could have done this on the Hispanic community, the Huntsville
community, or something else, but I chose the EAST community. A community that has students,
teachers, mentors, friends, volunteers, and role models. East is a very large United States organization
that stands for Environmental and Spatial Technology. I have been in this program for a while now
back in my hometown s high school. It mostly consist of students trying to be able to stand out in the
workforce when they get out of school. They learn new abilities like ArcGIS, 3D printing, Photoshop,
basic medical training, and other occupations. This program has been up since 1996. I joined it my
first year of freshmen year. I have meet so many interesting people, and learned so many new things
just by being part of the program. People all over have been changed by EAST one way or another.
People like Ryan DuChanois who started his path as a civic engineer because of EAST. This is a

Similarities Between Genesis And The Truman Show
In both the Truman Show and Genesis there is a main creator. Christof, in The Truman Show, is the
director of a programme that stars a man called Truman Burbank. Christof controls majority of the
things that happen inside of the television program and within his creations. God, in the bible, created
the world and everything that it holds. God has power over two people he creates in the story of
Genesis. The product of both creators are also extremely alike, Truman showing a lot of qualities that
Adam shows. The two creators differ in ways of control and their decisions made. Although they have
differences, there are many parallels to how they handle their power over their creations.
One of the main points of similarity include where the main story is the set. In The Truman Show, the
director, Christof, creates a real building in the shape of a dome and names it Seahaven. In the bible
God made a dome and named it sky. Both stories show a perfectly clean and perfect place for the main
characters to live. The dome in The Truman show is shown to be a stereotypically clean, small
American town. Similarly, the dome in the bible is shown as a beautiful place to live filled with
everything someone living there could need. Inside the dome in Genesis, Lord God took some soil
from the ground and formed a man out of it. God created humans to live inside the dome he made
whereas Christof put actors inside the dome.
The scene starts with Truman looking in the bathroom mirror. It

Classification Diagram Classification Of Groundwater Samples
The USSL diagram classification of groundwater samples has been shown in figure 8. The samples are
classified as C2 S1, C3 S1, and C4 S1 categories. 23 samples (47 percent) were placed in C2 S1 class.
The C2 S1 class points to medium saline water and low sodium amount which poses no hazard of
sodium exchange for agricultural usage in every type of soils. 45 percent of groundwater samples (22
samples) were in the C3 S1 class, meaning that water is highly saline, sodium is low and there is little
hazard of sodium exchange. The remaining 4 samples (8 percent) were classified in the C4 S1 class.
Fig 9, shows the spatial USSL Classification diagram of groundwater samples in Sarab plain. The C2
S1 was found in the east part of the study area. In this part of the study area, the aquifer is recharged
from streams. Therefore, groundwater quality there has good quality. In the middle part of study area,
the groundwater quality is deteriorated due to dissolution of gypsum and salts minerals in Miocene
formations, cation exchange and urban wastewater. The C4 S1 was found in the west and north part of
the study area and salinity and SAR has increased in the west part of study area due to Talkheh Rud
river saline water (Asadollahfardi et al., 2011).
Due to insufficiency of absolute concentration of anions and cations for water quality determination in
agricultural usages, SAR, PI, KR, MAR, RSC, SSP and EC indices were used as key parameters in
this domain. Kelley s Ratio in the study

Wal Mart As A Symbol Of The United States
Overview: Sam Walton founded Wal Mart in 1962 in Roger, Arkansas. In a little less than 10 years,
Wal Mart had 38 locations and was opening two stores per year. In 1970, the company started trading
in the New York Stock Exchange. By 1979, the company announced a record $1billion sales and it
became the first company to do so. Wal Mart reached record after record during those years, and by
the end of 1989, Wal Mart reported after tax profits of $1billlion. Wal Mart now has become a symbol
of the United States, and it is the biggest employer in the world with approximately 2.2 million
workers with operations in 27 different countries. Wal Mart s revenue is gargantuan; they were ranked
number one by Fortune Magazine in 2001, with a revenue of $219.8bn. At this point, Wal Mart sales
are around $1billlion per day. The incredible rise of Wal Mart from a little store in Arkansas to one of
the biggest companies todayis astonishing; however, it has not come without its problems. During the
early 1980 s, employees tried to unionize in one of the distribution centers in Arkansas. Walton told
the workers that if they unionize, he would remove the employees profit sharing plan and replace them
with other employees. Another scandal Wal Mart faced was in its Made in America campaign, during
which most of the clothes sold in Wal Mart were manufactured in sweatshops in developing countries.
The video The Age of Wal Mart, which aired in 2004, presented many ethical issues

Compare And Contrast Thomas Hobbes And Locke
Thomas Hobbes and John Locke
Influential philosophers were not uncommon in the seventeenth century. Two British political thinkers,
Thomas Hobbes and John Locke, though opposite in many ways, both had one shared legacy: both
men greatly influenced the politicians of America and laid a foundation of what would one day
become the American government. While both men did some heavily influencing, they too witnessed
events that forged their worldviews. Hobbes began writing after the English Civil War where King
Charles I was beheaded, and the civil government came to an end. It was then that Hobbes concluded
that humans do not possess the capabilities to live at peace with one another. Locke wrote considering
the Glorious and Bloodless Revolution where King James II of England was ousted and there was no
considerable violence. When learning about their theories on government, it is crucial to consider
these factors to understand the context and reasoning behind them. Hobbes and Locke s theories
challenged individuals to consider a world where a government is nonexistent. Both agreed that
humankind, when left to their own devices, were subject to chaos. In the absence of government, there
is no telling what humans would be willing to do to have their way; some may resort to stealing from
their neighbor while others can wreak havoc and even murder civilians. The two thinkers understood a
perfect world filled with peace and mutual agreements would never exist, and insist if it

The World Is Flat !, By Thomas L. Friedman
When using Chanel s cosmetics, when drinking Danone yogurt with breakfast, when driving Ford
motor the way home, global brands which are highly visible symbol of the increasing integration of
world market, could been discovered around everywhere. As Thomas L. Friedman (2005) states,
World is flat! , which means world is being shrunk by the spreading of globalisation.
Globalisation, a result of social development, can be described as the increase in cross broader trade
and influence on the economic and social behaviour of nation states (David Begg, 2003:272). This
process has affected the world widely and deeply, principally in economics, industrial, technological,
political and cultural aspects.
Over the past decade, as the liberalization of national and openness of global markets, globalisation
has benefitted the world significantly, such as income improved, increase of imports and exports,
industrial development, thus, free flow of trade, capital and information have produced the best
outcome for growth and human welfare. Therefore, it is little doubt that globalisation has positive
impact on developed and developing countries. When it comes to China, ever since it formally joined
WTO, great benefits has been gained from the international trade while a huge boost to the
collaboration with other countries.

When Christopher Marlowe, the most famous playwright in his time (Lace, 79), died, William
Shakespeare was his successor. Shakespeare decided drama was to be his career after seeing the
Queen s Players during a visit to his hometown of Stratford on Avon in 1587 (Lace, 79). By the time
of Marlowe s death, Shakespeare was already well known for his three part Henry VI in 1592 (Lace,
79). His plays Love s Labour s Lost and Romeo and Juliet , both in 1594, were performed and he
became the most outstanding playwright of his time (Lace, 79). Before Elizabeth s reign was over,
Richard II , Julius Caesar , Henry V , and Hamlet had been performed (Lace, 79). James Burbage was
the second most influential actor of the Elizabethan period, but not only for his acting talent. Burbage
built the first ever public playhouse in England, opening in 1576 (Unknown, 218). Burbage financed
the building of The Theater alone, a well off man but was still considered a rogue. Actors were not the
only influence on theater. When Mary Tudor decided the throne was rightfully hers, the War of the
Roses ensued (Lace, 73). Because of the War of the Roses, many nobles, that employed actors, were
killed (Lace, 73). This forced actors to form their own troupes (Lace, 73). In 1572, parliament passed

Essay on Directing Juliet s Long Soliloquy
How would you direct Juliet s long soliloquy in Act 4 Scene 3 on a Shakespearean stage, conveying
Juliet s nightmarish terror and indecisiveness? My staging of Act 4 Scene 3 will emphasise the major
themes which are continued in the play as a whole; love, fate and violence. Both Romeo and Juliet are
sometimes portrayed as pawns of fate unable to escape their destiny, yet in this scene as I wish to
stage it, I want to show that Juliet, following the Friar s plan, takes a step towards changing that
destiny. She does this out of love for Romeo and to escape the despair brought on by what she thinks
will be a loveless marriage to Paris. Juliet is in the grip of very strong emotions and in this scene her

day time, and a chair to the left of the stage. I have chosen not to have any music during this scene, as
I want the full impact to come from the words. Having just told her mother, Lady Capulet, and the
Nurse to leave Juliet is now alone in the centre of the main stage, staring at the area where Lady
Capulet and the Nurse had just exited from. Upon speaking the first line of her speech, I would like
Juliet to remain facing in that direction, with her body turned slightly from the audience, and she
should say it in a loud, clear, and steady voice. When she says the next line I would like her to turn
towards the audience and hug herself, rubbing her arms. On the fourth line her voice should speed up
slightly, and her body turn sideways, and then without stopping she should say Nurse! , but then pause
after saying this before speaking the rest of the line. When she says Nurse! , I would like the actor to
reach out with one hand, as if beckoning them back, but then after the pause quickly withdraw it, with
Juliet having changed her mind. However, this line is sometimes interpreted as Juliet hearing the
Nurse coming back and asking what she

Representation Of Women In The Media Analysis
We live in an ageist society, which favours youth. Because of this, celebrities age is inherent in the
discourses (Van den Bulck, 2014, p. 63) about their persona and appearance. This is especially true of
female celebrities who come under constant scrutiny because our patriarchal society means that there
are different standards for men s and women s aging (Oberg, 2003, p. 126). MailOnline provides
perfect examples of older women s representations in the media demonstrating the public obsession
with youthfulness and that older female celebrities are rarely represented, but when they are, they are
usually shown as desexualised and unattractive. There are some exceptions, for example the
newspaper s focus on Helen Mirren; however, sexy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
162). MailOnline probably only depicts Mirren as attractive as she is a blonde beauty with a nicely
toned body (Chester Smith, 2015). Sontag states, what makes these women seem beautiful to us is
precisely that they do not look their real age (1972, p. 36). In this way, these apparently positive
representations of older women are still just as bad for shaming women s aged bodies as they starkly
remind the audience that the sustainability of sexual attractiveness is one of the most highly valued
personal commodities in the media market (Garde Hansen, 2012, pp. 161 162). Overall, aging women
tend to be inadequately represented in the media for the reason that these women bear the brunt of
ageism because they are already devalued as female (Cruikshank, 2009, p. 143). Additionally, because
the patriarchy s ideal state for women is docility (Sontag, 1972, p. 38), beauty standards and practices
will continue to be enforced helping to shame any appearance that differs from what society deems
beautiful. Traditionally, this idea of beauty almost always excludes the body fat, wrinkles, and grey
hair typically found on older

Women s Roles In Ancient Egyptian Women, As Nefertiti And...
Legendary women such as Nefertiti and Cleopatra are the powerful faces of Ancient Egypt that are
well known throughout the world, but the details on the lives of ordinary Egyptian women are much
more obscure. Many goddesses and other important female figures have been a prevalent topic of
study in the ancient Egyptian world, however, the knowledge of how normal women spent their days
is not nearly as common. The development of the roles and status of women in ancient Egypt as well
as their everyday lives and their impact on society was essential to the advancement of the civilization
as a whole. The richest and most primary source other than written text was the artwork that is
commonly associated with tombs; for instance, funerary models, reliefs, and wall paintings. Since men
were typically the ones who would commission and create conceptual and representational art, many
aspects of women s lives were ignored or neglected. It was also very rare for female roles to be
included in historical documents from the era because they seldom held high government positions,
even though the idea of women being in power was not unheard of or uncommon between 3,000 and
1,000 BC. This research paper will be exploring a wide variety of details in ancient Egyptian women s
lives such as marriage, domestic living, legal and political rights, religion, and women of power.
Ancient Egyptian women were granted social liberties, individual freedom, and even legal rights equal

Why Is Benjamin Franklin Called The Picture Perfect...
Nate Locatelli
Mr. Pisenti
Period 1
11/2/17
Benjamin Franklin was the picture perfect self made man. From seemingly nothing, he became a
successful musician, author, scientist, and printer. In his free time, he helped found and build a
country.
The key to Franklin s success was his desire and his need to constantly improve himself on all fronts.
His quest for excellence began at only the age of 20. It was then that he thought of a program that
would motivate and push him to possess more virtuous habits. Since he was also a perfectionist, he
drew up a list of 13 virtues, and created a chart on which to keep track of his progress in living them.
Each week he would focus on one virtue while also keeping track of the others. He would then move
on to the next virtue and so on, eventually going through four cycles of each of the virtues in a single
year.
When he failed to live up to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To make the most of his time, he created a schedule for himself. To begin the day the right way, not
only regarding order, but living well in general. This helped Franklin focus on things he could do to
serve his fellow man and help his society as he went about his daily routine. Franklin examined how
he had spent his hours and whether he had done the good things he had planned on doing, as well as if
he had taken action on spontaneous opportunities to lend others a helping hand.
Benjamin Franklin s moral and social philosophies inspired and still inspire millions around the world.
Becoming a self made man is a long and tough task. Improve yourself, which will then improve the
society around you. Slight slip ups are impossible to avoid when trying to follow strict ideals. Franklin
s purpose was to make people aware of their inclinations and to help them overcome the natural
tendencies of themselves, which would limit our dependence on other people. Benjamin Franklin is an

The Service Marketing Mix Should Now
In today s world, the service sector dominates the different economies of developed and developing
nations. Services require different management activities, it differs a lot from the marketing of goods
(Berry, 1980). Indeed, services are considered as intangible, variable and perishable
(marketingteacher.com). Thus, we can say that the traditional 4 p s are not sufficient anymore. Indeed,
the service marketing mix should now include three other elements, which are the physical evidence,
the people and finally, the service process (learnmarketing.net). In addition, we can say that the
marketing of goods is not as critical as the management of services quality, which occurs through the
monitoring of customer satisfaction. In contrary to the marketing of goods which is more focused on
the physical product component, services require a certain customer loyalty, this implying having
good service marketing skills.
In this essay, a general framework on the applicability of the theatre metaphor to the services will be
discussed. Key concepts and also the underpinnings of the drama metaphor will be presented. To do
so, models acquired in class will be used, as well as relevant references from textbook.
I) Value of services marketing:
In today s world, almost all the companies operate in markets, which are considered by an excess of
supply. Thus, if a customer were not satisfied by a specific service provided by a company, he would

Conserving Water For The Future
Conserving Water for the Future Agriculture must mediate between nature and human community,
with ties and obligations in both directions. To farm well requires an elaborate courtesy toward all
creatures, animate and inanimate (Wendell Berry). Farming is a delicate balance between producing
the most possible from the land without destroying the land. In order for farming to be sustainable
more has to be grown with less. Water conservation can be addressed in developing countries by
simply embracing modern farming methods. In developed countries more money will have to be
invested into water saving irrigation methods. There was a time when you didn t shut the water off
when you brushed your teeth and now it is habit to shut the water off to save that little bit of water.
The same spirit will have to implemented in farming simple methods can be used to save water. In
order for farming to be sustainable in an ever changing world, more time and effort needs to be
dedicated to water conservation because the population is growing, water is a finite resource, and
using less water allows farmers to irrigate more land with the same amount of water.
Farmers across the world will have to embrace modern irrigation techniques. Africa is a prime
example of a continent heavily invested in water conservation. In a continent where 23.2% of its
inhabitants are starving they still have farms without irrigation (World Hunger). Well it would require
significant changes switching

Bureaucracy and Max Weber

ADVANTAGES OF MAX WEBER THEORIES 6
CONCLUSION 7

1.0 Introduction
According to Stephen P. Robbins and Mary Coulter in their book titled Management, bureaucracy can
be defined as a form of organisation characterised by division of labour, a clearly defined hierarchy,
detailed rules and regulations, and impersonal relationship.
Bureaucracy usually gives a negative meaning in life. When it comes to bureaucracy, automatically
people would imagine things like red tape, filled form with too many information and too detail, small
problems become complicated because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It means, there must be no individual objectives are allowed. All people must follow the organization
objectives. In other word, staff members are free of any external responsibilities and constraints so
that they are able to attend to their duties in a fair and objective way. For example, work is separated
from residence in order to separate personal duty and objective of the organization.
2.0.6 Lifelong Career Commitment Weber stressed that employment in the organization should be
seen as a career for officials. An official is a full time employee, and anticipate a lifelong career. After
an introduction period, the employee is given tenure, which protects the employee from arbitrary
dismissal. The organization should create a better working scheme such as clear promotion route and
good remuneration scheme. Max Weber viewed these bureaucratic elements as solutions to problems
or defects within earlier and more traditional administrative systems. Likewise, he viewed these
elements as parts of a total system, which, combined and instituted effectively, would increase the
effectiveness and efficiency of the administrative structure.
3.0 Critics toward Max Weber Theories of Bureaucracy There are various critics from public
administration philosophers toward bureaucracy theory generated by max Weber.
3.0.1 Rigid Rules and Uncreative Weber lined out that the characteristics of his theory on bureaucracy

Racism In Othello And The Tempest By William Shakespeare
Racism in Shakespeare or Absurdity?
Is there racism in Shakespeare s works or is this notion absurd? Shakespeare may not be racist, but
two of his plays do contain racism. One may argue that Shakespeare does not openly speak of racism
in his plays, but Shakespeare does write with the idea of racism in mind, because his characters do
make comments that can be considered racist. In Shakespeare s plays Othello and The Tempest, the
underlying idea of racism is present in these works, and his audiences can come to this conclusion,
because of the way the characters, Othello and Caliban, are unjustly treated due to their appearances.
In the play Othello, the idea of racism is first revealed in Act One, Scene One. Iago and Rodrigo are

Therefore, Brabanzio should not be so distraught about the marriage. This leads to the following
question: Why is Othello not good enough in Brabanzio s eyes, when he is supposedly viewed as a
friend? The answer is simple. The reason why Brabanzio has Othello as a guest in his home is because
of all the good deeds he has done for Venice. Othello is good enough to be friends with Brabanzio, but
Othello is not good enough to be a son in law, because of his outsider status and skin color. Later in
the play, Brabanzio s claim of the use of magic may be true, when Othello freaks out about
Desdemona losing the handkerchief, because Othello claims that it is supposed to keep her faithful to
him. Others may argue that the handkerchief is merely a keepsake from his past, but since he goes into
detail of the handkerchief s power and history, Brabanzio s argument about magic no longer seems
that farfetched; therefore, this scene helps prove Brabanzio s sanity. By proving Brabanzio s sanity,
audiences can now come to the conclusion that Brabanzio s outrage about the news of the wedding is
due to the fact that he is racist and does not approve of Othello, because of his dark skin color and
outside status. Overall, these are just some of the numerous examples of racism throughout the play
Othello.
Like the play Othello, The Tempest also, portrays numerous examples of the idea of

William Shakespeare s The Restoration Period
Throughout history there have different styles of comedy that inherit different aspects of society
during that time. During the Restoration period, there is one author who stands out from the rest and is
known as the father of comedy of manners and that author is Molliere. One of his most notable pieces
of work was the Misanthrope; thats core principles are based on the comedy of manners. The
fundamentals of the comedy of manners often have a multiple consistencies that are true to most plays
written during that time. It s sole purpose is to get a satirical perspective at the life, manners and social
aspect of the upper class and aristocrats. Itt is considered high comedy due to the fact that it creates a
critical perspective of the life of the upper classes, unlike low comedy which serves no other purpose
than to create laughter. Plays which use comedy of manners often poke fun at the character s outlooks
on life, their manners toward each other and their view toward lower social classes. In general the
characters of plays/books during this time have very generic roles such as the fool, hypocrite, the
jealous lover, ect... Additionally the plots of these plays usually are surrounding a complicated love
situation that puts a few characters in conflict with each other. These principles are true to plays
written during that time, especially Moliere s Misanthrope which represent the core beliefs of the
comedy of manners. The main characters in the Misanthrope embody the main

I shall now be looking at the novel its self and certain gothic passages in the novel with reference to
Edgar
Alan Poe s The Fall of the House of Usher . The story is about a young man in his early twenties and
how he sells his soul to the devil for eternal youth and beauty. When he does this the newly painted
self portrait of himself ages instead of him, this then allows him to explore his greatest fancies and not
worry about his soul and the repercussions it shall have upon his friends nor his soul. This already
shows signs of the gothic genre, as he is able to become completely free. In the end it destroys him
and he dies. In Chapter 16
Oscar Wilde writes about how Dorian Gray visits opium dens. The opium dens almost take Dorian
Gray out of reality and into the dream world.

The Market Economy Marge Piercy
The Market Economy was a poem written by Marge Piercy in 1973. The publishing of The Market
Economy could have been influenced by a couple of factors. First, was how Piercy lived during the
time that capitalism was first introduced, and new markets and means of wealth and prosperity were
being created. Next, The Market Economy was published after the start of the 1970 s recession in the
U.S., which could have had some influence on the purpose of this poem. To be simple, the poem is
very negative and is about the negativity of Capitalist America and how bad it is for the environment
and for our health. Piercy wrote her poem in the style of free verse. Consistently throughout the poem
there no signs of rhyming or meter. Piercy was very direct with her poem. In The market economy, she
did not favor the use of similes or other literary devices. One of few literary devices used was the use
of the name smog city. One google search later, and pictures of large cities with smokestacks pumping

How Did King Henry Viii Contribute To The English Reformation
King Henry VIII and his many marriages played a major role in the political and religious state of
England from 1509 to 1547. He is credited with causing English Reformation, or the series of events
which led to the Church of England separating from the Roman Catholic church, because of his
personal agenda and selfish motives. The English Reformation set off a chain of events that led to the
Protestant Reformation; although, religious philosopher Richard Hooker played a far more
instrumental role than King Henry VIII. Henry VIII s whirlwind marriages ultimately culminated in a
nationwide shift from Catholicism to Protestantism; in which the concept of predestination changed
England s outlook on life. Of Henry VIII s six wives, his first, Catherine of Aragon, played an
instrumental role in beginning the English Reformation. King Henry VIII wished to divorce
Catherine; however, there were several extenuating circumstances which prevented him from doing
so. First, in order to divorce his wife, Henry VIII had to receive permission from Pope Clement VII. In
the sack of Rome in 1527, however, Holy Roman Emperor Charles V s troops attacked and
imprisoned Pope Clement VII. Following the sack of Rome, Charles V, who was also Catherine s
nephew, had authority over Pope Clement VII. This web of connections ... Show more content on

Sante s Resume
Luc Santé s Resume is a personal account of cultural and socio economical changes throughout
Europe during the mid 20th century, and how they potentially correlated to impact his life. Resume
consists of nine different life summaries, each with introductory constants (Luc Santé birth details,
Lucien Santé s work history), before an opposing tale is expressed to conclude each paragraph. These
vary in positive and negative connotations, but the concluding argument Santé s work puts forth aligns
with the cliché that every action has a reaction . In essence, one slight tweak in his life, or resume,

This repetitive identity can also be linked throughout the paragraphs, as opposing as they are, to the
text s primary themes. The importance of money is a constant in Resume, as paragraphs beginning
with Santé s father losing his job ends with his son struggling to survive, living in poverty and fear, or
performing criminal acts. In the two paragraphs in which Lucien Santé did not fall out of an iron
foundry job, Luc was educated and lived either a life of debauchery, or a life as a Jesuit. The two
vehemently opposed each other, but they both allowed Luc to live by privileged means. This idea
dictates that Santé believes the absence of parental income and support almost consigns the child into
a poor life near unchangeable, insinuating that Santé s identity is one driven by pessimism.
Santé also constructs identities for his parents, the two individuals featured apart from himself. He
does this not by describing their characteristics and idiosyncrasies, but by stating the major events
they were involved in that eventually shaped his life. Often throughout Resume, Santé describes how
his parents shipped the family to a distant country, or at the very least away from Verviers, inevitably
failing in their quest to start a new, better life. It is also worth noting the one time Santé s tale
concludes as one of happiness and success, there is little parental involvement in his choices

two most common household animals. I am definitely a dog person. I love dogs. I think everyone
should have a dog. They re great pets. Dogs are fun and a lot of work but it sure is worth it. Cats, on
the other hand, I don t care for. I had a cat when I was only about one year old and she got run over by
a car. Ever since then my family has had a dog. Maybe if I had a cat when I was growing up I would

While cats are bred too, it isn t to the same extent as dogs and cats aren t typically bred for a particular
ability like dogs are. Taking care of a little puppy is like taking care of a new born baby. You
constantly have to watch them and know what they re doing. Unlike a cat where they are given a toy
and they will play with it for hours. Training a puppy isn t the same as training a cat. With a new
puppy you have to train them to go to the bathroom outside. Not anywhere in the house. A puppy can
only hold on an hour for every month of his or her age plus another hour. So if a puppy is 2 months
old it can only hold for three hours. The key is to prevent mistakes and establish good habits early.
Cats generally don t go outside to take care of business. Cats have a litter box in the house. Most
kittens will readily adapt to a litter box, especially if they were raised with a mother cat. If they pee on
the carpet the owner should drag them to their box and force them to dig. But with a puppy you try to
make them stop and hurry them outside. Training a pet commands is also different. Dogs will sit, lie
down, and heel on command. Cats on the other hand will just smirk and walk away. Another
difference between cats and dogs is their social interactions. Dogs are more of pack animals. Members
of their pack or family are very critical to them. They look for a

Value Creation Essay
Value creation
Two basic conditions determine a firm s profits: the amount of value customers place on the firm s
goods or services and the firm s costs of production. In general, the more value customers place on a
firm s products, the higher the price the firm can charge for those products. Note, however, that the
price a firm charges for a good and service is typically less then the value placed on that good or
service by the customer. This is so because the customer captures some of that value in the form of
what economists call a consumer surplus.
The value creation by a firm is measured by the difference between the amount of value customers
place on the firm s goods or services (V) and firm s cost of production. Michael porter has ... Show

Another caveat concerns the importance of assessing political and economic risks when making

against all the standard criteria, if its govt is unstable or totalitarian, the firm might be advised not to
base production there. Or inappropriate economic policies by the govt.

The experience curve refers to systematic reductions in production costs that have been observed to
occur over the life of a product. A number of studies have observed that product s production costs
decline by some quantity about each time accumulated output doubles. The relationship was first
observed in the aircraft industry, where each time accumulated output of airframes was doubled, unit
costs typically declined to 80% of their previous level and it continues.
Experience effects are caused due to: learning effects and economies of scale.
(draw the experience curve pg 419)
Learning effects
Learning effects refer to cost savings that come from learning by doing. Labor, for example, learns by
repetition how to carry out a task, such as assembling airframes, most efficiently. Labor productivity
increases over time as individuals learn the most efficient ways

How The Roman Catholic Church s Stance On Peaceful...
Conversion in Medieval Iberia can invoke ambivalent feelings. Christians originally wanted to convert
Jews and Muslims through kind words and religious teachings from the Bible. This idea, nevertheless,
evolved over the centuries and Christians began converting non believers through violence and
compulsion. Also, even after individuals were converted, Christians did not fully trust their
motivations, and believed they would remiss into their old religions. While Marian miracles did help
alleviate these tensions, a number of vicious acts were committed against Jews and Muslims during
this time period. In this essay, I am going to examine the idea of conversion from the Christian
perspective, and how Christians were able to tempt Jews and Muslims to convert. I am also going to
compare the contradictory nature of converting through peaceful and violent means. This comparison
will showcase how the Roman Catholic Church s stance on peaceful conversion was overcome by
local Christian communities. Conversion is the act of changing one s religion to another religion.
During the twelfth to fifteenth century in Medieval Iberia, a number of Jews and Muslims converted to
Christianity. To Christians, conversions represented the elimination of dangerous enemies and the
ongoing triumph of the new Israel. Christians viewed themselves as the chosen people, as they
believed that Jesus Christ died on the cross to save them, and formed a new covenant, while the Jews
spurned him and

Phobia Research Paper
Known as a mental disorder a phobia is a persistent fear of a specific object, activity, or situation that
leads to compelling desire to avoid it. Phobias tend to affect the way people live their lives, for
example, their working and social environments, considering that they last for a very long time and
are capable to cause intense psychological physical stress. It is considered today the most common
mental and anxiety disorder in the United States (Matig Mavissakalian David H. Barlow 1981 pp 2).
There are many phobias such as: the fear of aging, fear of changing, fear of clowns, fear of getting fat,
fear of being in closed spaces, etc.
One who encounters phobias has to deal with a collection of uncontrollable symptoms when their ...

This specific phobia can lead to the person experience of an intense fear when not being able to break
out of a populated area (Barlow Mavissakalian, pp 4). This causes people having to evade open and
heavily crowed environments with little possibilities to exit over their massive fear of going through a
panic attack. Therefore, today there are signs in many rides at themed parks that warn people of the
closed areas. This specific category of phobias causes the person to fear traveling on bus or even
waiting in a line. This phobia can also lead to being dependent of someone because they are too afraid
to go outside of their homes. Barlow Mavissakalian (1981 pp 4 5), implicated that the clinical picture
painted is consistent and consists or fears of going out to public places and open and crowded places,
fears of walking alone or using any means or public transportation, and fears of being alone at home.
Agoraphobia is the most disabling of all phobias and usually begins in early adolescence.
When a child is at a young age and experience some kind of traumatic event it is most common that
this child will grown a fear anything that triggers the memory of the specific event. Gersely (2001)
stated that traumatic events have the capability to trigger specific phobias. For instance, if a person
experiences are traumatic car accident they might have difficulty later learning how to drive or might

Physical Therapy- PT
Physical Therapist, also known as PTs help people manage their pain and improve mobility after
injury or illness (Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2014). They also rehabilitate and treat patients
with injuries and chronic conditions (Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2014). In addition to treatment
and diagnosis many also develop wellness and fitness programs to encourage better lifestyle habits
(Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2014). Physical Therapist can also choose to specialize in
specialties orthopedics (Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2014). As a Physical Therapist one would
have many duties and responsibilities to complete throughout the day and their career. Once a one is
referred a new patient they typically review the previous doctors notes and the patients history
(Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2014). Then by observing the patients movements and listening to
their apprehensions they will diagnose the patients malfunctional movements (Occupational Outlook
Handbook, 2014). With this information Physical Therapists begin to develop a care plan for the
patient that outlines goals and expected outcomes (Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2014). While
implementing the plan they use different techniques and exercises to help patients cope with pain
reduce the risk of further injury and rehabilitate (Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2014). As
treatment progresses they evaluate the patients progress and adapt the program if needed
(Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2014).

Attitudes, Beliefs, And Behaviors Of A Population Essay
The purpose of a survey, according to Patten (2014), is to describe attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors of
a population. By surveying a sample of a population, researchers are able to obtain results that later on
could be generalized to the population, assuming that a good sample has been drawn (Patten, 2012).
These surveys are carefully prepare, and in accord with the study or research that is been carried out.
Specific questions regarding the study should be elaborated and worded in a clear and simple way
(Berg, 2012). The respondent should feel confortable answering the questionnaire. This confortable
feeling will be possible, in part, by the use of a series of key elements that will conform each and
every question in the survey. In order to develop the correct wording for the questionnaire, researchers
will construct their questions in a way that will not sound antagonistic, threatening, confusing, unsafe
to answer, or too complex (Berg, 2012). Following, are a series of questions that have been modified
in order to present flaws or some source of bias. These modifications have been made with the intend
to explain the common problems that each question has. Suggestions on how these questions might be
improved will follow. Questions

Sharks In La Reunion
It looks like the main problem in La Reunion is that now it s being surrounded by sharks. People are
having a problem with this beause before they were able to go out in the water and swim or surf, what
ever they wanted to do, but now it s surrounded by sharks which stops them from being capable of
going in the water. Many people have been killed because of the sharks, but there are still some people
that decide that they want to risk their lives and go in the water. This also causes a problem within the
society because the people that choose to go in the water are disobeying any rules that apply to the
problem with the sharks. Not only that, but this can also cause people to argue with each other because
everyone will have a different opinion

Illegal Aliens Essay
Beware! America is being invaded by aliens! Not the little, green, Martian type you see in science
fiction movies, but the real thing. I m talking about the illegal type who come in every day and every
night, by land and by sea. Estimates have shown that as many as 500,000 illegal aliens make it across
the border every year (Morganthau 67). Illegal immigration causes many problems in the United
States, including economic problems, crime, education disputes, and overcrowding. All of these
problems were already damaging our country and illegal immigration has made them much, much
worse. Let me begin to explain the problem with a story. A woman named Xiomara T. escaped
Nicaragua in 1991 to escape the violence afflicting her country (Jost, ... Show more content on

If there were no jobs for illegal immigrants to obtain, there would be no reason for foreigners to come
here at the onset of it all. The sad part of it all is most illegal aliens have Wyatt 3 little or no job skills
at all, but since they work for the low wages, they are the ones who are hired (Harrison 35). Greedy
business people will do anything to save a dollar these days, even if it means committing a crime.
Many of the illegal immigrants who come to our country live off of our federal aid and receive free
money, when they don t even pay in taxes. This free money comes in the forms of welfare, Medicaid,
education costs, and other government funds. Our hard earned tax dollars are paying for immigrants
who don t even have the right to be here. The Texas head of the House Ways and Means committee,
Bill Archer, stated, quot;People should not expect to come to this country with their hands out to
receive benefits paid for by taxpaying Americans quot; (Jost ). He is absolutely right these people are
getting something for nothing while Americans are getting nothing for our tax dollars when we do
something to earn it. Immigrants pay much less in taxes than they receive in the form of social
benefits (Leone 8). In fact, the approximate national costs of immigration, including unemployment
funds for U.S. workers displaced by immigrants, cost America $42.5 billion more than they paid in
taxes in 1992 (Leone 8). If we didn t pay for these immigrants, maybe we wouldn t

Should We Be Spending The Money On Organic Produce Over...
2. This article is discussing the issue of whether or not we should be spending the money on organic
produce over non organic produce. They are clearly portraying that organic food should be purchased
and consumed over non organic food. They convey the message that non organic food is relatively a
newer concept than organic produce as it has only come into place since 1950s, where before this all
food was originally organic grown. Non organic farmers have at their disposal an arsenal of over 320
pesticides and they use them routinely. Evidence links some of these pesticides with developmental
damage to mammals that could lead to cancers, developmental problems and birth defects. They re
claims that these pesticides are all below safe limits, but it is all very suspicious, whereas organic
produce is hardly ever found with any traces of harmful pesticides or food additive as they are only
available to very limited numbers. Same goes with their animals, they are only treated with antibiotics
when they show clinical signs of illness. Although organic food costs more this article is in the
opinion the non organic farming is cracking at the seams, that is unable of delivering safe, healthy
food, treating animals humanely, or taking care of the environment properly. Concluding that Organics
is the only organised, coherent, global alternative to this failed industrial food experiment.
3. I do agree with the argument presented about organic farming being a better alternative for

Research Study On Instructional Practices
This study was an action research study meant to benefit the instructional practices in my fourth grade
classroom. These findings could have a positive effect on my practice, others within my field, and
students. As a result of this study I plan to improve my teaching practices by giving students a variety
of opportunities to make choices within the classroom environment. This will allow students to own
their own learning experiences and feel powerful within the classroom (Tomlinson, 2001). As a result
of this experience I believe students need time to develop their confidence when making choices. I
plan to provide students with meaningful learning experiences in which they are encouraged to make
choices. This includes continuing to create instruction based menus for each math unit within the
fourth grade curriculum. This will allow students to practice making choices. In addition, this will
allow high readiness students to choose a variety of tasks to continue their mathematical thinking
when they are done early. This creates more time to work with low and medium readiness students. I
would also like to extend the practice of menus into other subjects, specifically science and social
studies. I believe allowing students to choose their own topic or activity to show their understanding
of the content will be a very powerful practice. Students learn, grow, and find interest in different
learning experiences. Choice within science and social studies will allow students to

The Texaco Oil Crisis
After it creation in 1964 the Texaco oil rig has been wreaking havoc on the local community. Before
the oil crisis in 1973 the need for oil has still high and Texaco had found a place that could satisfy
some of that need (Zaitchik, 2014). Texaco as well as the prominent Gulf Oil began to work in the
Oriente region of Ecuador. However, it was not until 1972 that Texaco began to work in the Lago
Agrio Oil Field one year before the Oil Crisis. This drilling for oil continued until 1993 when Texaco
left after being accused of dumping toxic waste into the local water systems for 21 years (Amazon
Watch, 2013). After the Industrial Revolution first and second world countries have been heavily
reliant on oil. This has led to a total (as of 2014) of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This toxic waste was creating terminal cancer, birth defects in mothers who come in contact with the
waste and other disease and growth that kill people that had not been seen previously. It also ruined
the environment and killed off many endangered species in the area (Romero, Simon, 2011). Needless
to say the evidence was overwhelming and they lost the case and the 30,000 effected villagers as well
as the Ecuadorian government won. Chevron appealed the court with more evidence and they lost that
as well (Chevron Toxico, 2013). Chevron filed RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt
Organizations Act) against those who won the first case. They then went after the scientists who were
doing reports in the local areas. They told their funders that they were in on a little conspiracy in the
Amazon regions. The bargain was either loose funding or change the results; and the scientists chose
the latter. Chevron then went after the journalists who were documenting the spill and toxic waste.
With the RICO charges filed, all journalists were required to turn over all unused interview footage
which did not only make it extremely hard to interview those who were willing, but they also had to
be very careful with questions that were posed. Again using the RICO charges they forced all activists
to turn over years of emails, messages, letters, and records of any kind. (Chevron Toxico,

  • 3. Nick Kroll Big Mouth Themes The Netflix Original show Big Mouth by Nick Kroll is an animated series all about middle school students and all of their experiences going through puberty. These students go through some awkward moments, which people can relate to. I mean who didn t go through awkward moments at that stage in life? It shows a variety of life experiences such as first kisses, first period, random erections, fascination with sex, and much more. The show is very vulgar and has a lot of inappropriate scenes. If you aren t the kind of person who finds swearing or sex jokes funny, then this definitely is not the show for you. One of the main characters is the Hormone Monster and he just might be the most vulgar character I have ever seen out of any show. Have you ever seen a show where someone is making a decision, and a mini angel and devil pop up on a character s shoulders to help that person make the decision? Well this is like that, only there is no angel and the Hormone Monster stands over six feet tall. He puts the character Andrew through awkward hormonal changes in just about every other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We see a lot different scenes where the main character Nick second guesses his trust in his friend Andrew. In one specific scene the character Andrew is helping Nick s girlfriend because she has her first period. Nick was expecting his girlfriend to meet him at the top of the Statue of Liberty to take a picture. When she doesn t show up, he starts looking for her and sees her hugging Andrew. He thinks that something was going on between them and gets mad at his friend and makes a huge deal out of it. Andrew then eventually explains that he was just helping her because she had her period. He then apologizes to Andrew for his overreaction. I feel like while this scene is very specific it outlines how people have trust issues even with their closest friends. Cases that make it to the supreme courts are cases that have been heard and decided from lower courts at the State level. Which cases get picked? For the Judges to actually hear the case 4 of the 9 justices have to agree to hear the case. The Supreme Court does not have the time to hear every case because of time and resource constraints. Nevertheless, if a petition is granted it goes on the discussion list for approval. The Supreme Court only hears cases that involve federal issues. The Supreme Court will ignore the case that involved issues with the State. To mention a few examples of cases the Supreme Court has heard. First, if a case involves a federal issue. However, soon after the initiatives were announced Texas and 25 other sate sued the federal to prevent this implementation. The states argued the administration has overstepped its legal authority to enforce the immigration law. On January 19, 2016 the Supreme Court announced it would accept the case. The Supreme Court accepted the case based off a few reasons. First, the Justices decided this case brought up several federal law questions with the government overstepping their boundaries. Lastly, there was an inconsistency between the Fifth Circuit court and U.S. District Court with two different rulings on a federal issue. Anthropogenic Climate Change Anthropogenic Climate Change Brandie Fonseca Informal Logic 103 Instructor John Moore May 21, 2012 An issue that is felt throughout the world is Anthropogenic Climate Change formally known as Global Warming. This word wide problem is one that needs to be addressed immediately as well as long term. Anthropogenic Climate Change is the rise of the earth s temperature caused by human activities. The continuing rise in the earth s temperature will cause extreme change in our earth s ecosystems. The estimated cost is that of 1.8 billion dollars (Trouble in Store, 2009). The fact is at this point it is just an estimation and the reality of the cost factor will not be accurate until the carbon capture technology is commercially launched which, is years away (Gunther, 2011). The International Energy Agency (IEA) reckons the world will need over 200 power plants equipped with Carbon Capture Systems by 2030 to limit the rise in average global temperatures to about 3°C (Trouble in Store, 2009). People have been aware of the rise in the earth s temperature and its effects however, many persuaded themselves that there was really no immediate danger as well as, there was nothing one could do to mitigate the issue and felt higher authorities were responsible for outcomes and resolutions (Wearts, 2011). On the contrary there is immediate danger and long term affect to our earth if our earth s temperature continues to rise. Polar caps and glaciers will melt resulting in major changes in our ecosystems and causing the sea level to rise (McKibben, 2009). Anthropogenic Climate Change has caused the uprising of precipitation intensity and or dry spells, and wind patterns (Giorgi, Coppola, Diffenbaugh, Gao, Mariotti amp; Shi, 2011). They treat it as part of the family. These individuals will take their pride and joy and manipulate their automobile to get the most out of it. This could be just for looks or for performance. One of the most important things to a car junkie looks for is speed. Since the day the automobile was created, individuals kept pushing the limits of how fast they could go. The Model T when it was invented had a top speed between 40 45 MPH back in 1919. These days, individuals have been able to slightly improve upon those numbers. While everyone loves to drive fast, only a few are able to say they have driven the fastest ever. It will only be a matter of time before we have automobiles that could well top 300 MPH. • 9. Obstructive Sleep Apnea Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is when someone is experiencing episodes of cessation of breaths during sleep because of their upper airway relaxing and obstructing air flow during sleep. The episodes usually last for ten seconds or greater and is usually accompanied with a decreased oxygen saturation. Although the airway is relaxed and obstructing airflow, the body (brain) is still attempting to breathe. When breathing has resumed from its apneic state, there is usually a loud gasping snore and or body jerking which can lead to restless sleep for the person with OSA and their partner. According the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute more than twelve million people in the United States have this clinical disorder. People who have OSA may be sleepy in the day and experience subsequent disorders such as oxyhemoglobin desaturation, pulmonary hypertension, right sided heart failure, arrhythmias, myocardial infarction and diabetes. Proper diagnosing and treatment of a person with OSA can yield optimal results thereby improving quality of life. Some causes or risk factors of Obstructive Sleep Apnea are being overweight or obese, having a large neck, having a narrow airway, high blood pressure, diabetes, being middle aged, and having a genetic predisposition. • 12. Similarities Between Genesis And The Truman Show In both the Truman Show and Genesis there is a main creator. Christof, in The Truman Show, is the director of a programme that stars a man called Truman Burbank. Christof controls majority of the things that happen inside of the television program and within his creations. God, in the bible, created the world and everything that it holds. God has power over two people he creates in the story of Genesis. The product of both creators are also extremely alike, Truman showing a lot of qualities that Adam shows. The two creators differ in ways of control and their decisions made. Although they have differences, there are many parallels to how they handle their power over their creations. One of the main points of similarity include where the main story is the set. In The Truman Show, the director, Christof, creates a real building in the shape of a dome and names it Seahaven. In the bible God made a dome and named it sky. Both stories show a perfectly clean and perfect place for the main characters to live. The dome in The Truman show is shown to be a stereotypically clean, small American town. Similarly, the dome in the bible is shown as a beautiful place to live filled with everything someone living there could need. Inside the dome in Genesis, Lord God took some soil from the ground and formed a man out of it. God created humans to live inside the dome he made whereas Christof put actors inside the dome. The samples are classified as C2 S1, C3 S1, and C4 S1 categories. 23 samples (47 percent) were placed in C2 S1 class. The C2 S1 class points to medium saline water and low sodium amount which poses no hazard of sodium exchange for agricultural usage in every type of soils. 45 percent of groundwater samples (22 samples) were in the C3 S1 class, meaning that water is highly saline, sodium is low and there is little hazard of sodium exchange. The remaining 4 samples (8 percent) were classified in the C4 S1 class. Fig 9, shows the spatial USSL Classification diagram of groundwater samples in Sarab plain. The C2 S1 was found in the east part of the study area. In this part of the study area, the aquifer is recharged from streams. Therefore, groundwater quality there has good quality. In the middle part of study area, the groundwater quality is deteriorated due to dissolution of gypsum and salts minerals in Miocene formations, cation exchange and urban wastewater. The C4 S1 was found in the west and north part of the study area and salinity and SAR has increased in the west part of study area due to Talkheh Rud river saline water (Asadollahfardi et al., 2011). In a little less than 10 years, Wal Mart had 38 locations and was opening two stores per year. In 1970, the company started trading in the New York Stock Exchange. By 1979, the company announced a record $1billion sales and it became the first company to do so. Wal Mart s revenue is gargantuan; they were ranked number one by Fortune Magazine in 2001, with a revenue of $219.8bn. At this point, Wal Mart sales are around $1billlion per day. The incredible rise of Wal Mart from a little store in Arkansas to one of the biggest companies todayis astonishing; however, it has not come without its problems. During the early 1980 s, employees tried to unionize in one of the distribution centers in Arkansas. Walton told the workers that if they unionize, he would remove the employees profit sharing plan and replace them with other employees. Another scandal Wal Mart faced was in its Made in America campaign, during which most of the clothes sold in Wal Mart were manufactured in sweatshops in developing countries. • 16. Compare And Contrast Thomas Hobbes And Locke Thomas Hobbes and John Locke Influential philosophers were not uncommon in the seventeenth century. Two British political thinkers, Thomas Hobbes and John Locke, though opposite in many ways, both had one shared legacy: both men greatly influenced the politicians of America and laid a foundation of what would one day become the American government. While both men did some heavily influencing, they too witnessed events that forged their worldviews. Hobbes began writing after the English Civil War where King Charles I was beheaded, and the civil government came to an end. It was then that Hobbes concluded that humans do not possess the capabilities to live at peace with one another. Locke wrote considering the Glorious and Bloodless Revolution where King James II of England was ousted and there was no considerable violence. When learning about their theories on government, it is crucial to consider these factors to understand the context and reasoning behind them. Hobbes and Locke s theories challenged individuals to consider a world where a government is nonexistent. Both agreed that humankind, when left to their own devices, were subject to chaos. In the absence of government, there is no telling what humans would be willing to do to have their way; some may resort to stealing from their neighbor while others can wreak havoc and even murder civilians. The two thinkers understood a perfect world filled with peace and mutual agreements would never exist, and insist if it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As Thomas L. Friedman (2005) states, World is flat! , which means world is being shrunk by the spreading of globalisation. Globalisation, a result of social development, can be described as the increase in cross broader trade and influence on the economic and social behaviour of nation states (David Begg, 2003:272). This process has affected the world widely and deeply, principally in economics, industrial, technological, political and cultural aspects. Over the past decade, as the liberalization of national and openness of global markets, globalisation has benefitted the world significantly, such as income improved, increase of imports and exports, industrial development, thus, free flow of trade, capital and information have produced the best outcome for growth and human welfare. Therefore, it is little doubt that globalisation has positive impact on developed and developing countries. Shakespeare decided drama was to be his career after seeing the Queen s Players during a visit to his hometown of Stratford on Avon in 1587 (Lace, 79). By the time of Marlowe s death, Shakespeare was already well known for his three part Henry VI in 1592 (Lace, 79). His plays Love s Labour s Lost and Romeo and Juliet , both in 1594, were performed and he became the most outstanding playwright of his time (Lace, 79). Before Elizabeth s reign was over, Richard II , Julius Caesar , Henry V , and Hamlet had been performed (Lace, 79). James Burbage was the second most influential actor of the Elizabethan period, but not only for his acting talent. Burbage built the first ever public playhouse in England, opening in 1576 (Unknown, 218). Burbage financed the building of The Theater alone, a well off man but was still considered a rogue. Actors were not the only influence on theater. When Mary Tudor decided the throne was rightfully hers, the War of the Roses ensued (Lace, 73). Because of the War of the Roses, many nobles, that employed actors, were killed (Lace, 73). This forced actors to form their own troupes (Lace, 73). In 1572, parliament passed the Poor Laws, making it a criminal offense to be a vagabond (Lace, 75). This reduced the number of acting companies and required them to be ... • 20. Essay on Directing Juliet s Long Soliloquy How would you direct Juliet s long soliloquy in Act 4 Scene 3 on a Shakespearean stage, conveying Juliet s nightmarish terror and indecisiveness? My staging of Act 4 Scene 3 will emphasise the major themes which are continued in the play as a whole; love, fate and violence. Both Romeo and Juliet are sometimes portrayed as pawns of fate unable to escape their destiny, yet in this scene as I wish to stage it, I want to show that Juliet, following the Friar s plan, takes a step towards changing that destiny. She does this out of love for Romeo and to escape the despair brought on by what she thinks will be a loveless marriage to Paris. I have chosen not to have any music during this scene, as I want the full impact to come from the words. Having just told her mother, Lady Capulet, and the Nurse to leave Juliet is now alone in the centre of the main stage, staring at the area where Lady Capulet and the Nurse had just exited from. Upon speaking the first line of her speech, I would like Juliet to remain facing in that direction, with her body turned slightly from the audience, and she should say it in a loud, clear, and steady voice. When she says the next line I would like her to turn towards the audience and hug herself, rubbing her arms. On the fourth line her voice should speed up slightly, and her body turn sideways, and then without stopping she should say Nurse! , but then pause after saying this before speaking the rest of the line. When she says Nurse! , I would like the actor to reach out with one hand, as if beckoning them back, but then after the pause quickly withdraw it, with Juliet having changed her mind. • 21. Representation Of Women In The Media Analysis We live in an ageist society, which favours youth. Because of this, celebrities age is inherent in the discourses (Van den Bulck, 2014, p. 63) about their persona and appearance. This is especially true of female celebrities who come under constant scrutiny because our patriarchal society means that there are different standards for men s and women s aging (Oberg, 2003, p. 126). MailOnline provides perfect examples of older women s representations in the media demonstrating the public obsession with youthfulness and that older female celebrities are rarely represented, but when they are, they are usually shown as desexualised and unattractive. MailOnline probably only depicts Mirren as attractive as she is a blonde beauty with a nicely toned body (Chester Smith, 2015). Sontag states, what makes these women seem beautiful to us is precisely that they do not look their real age (1972, p. 36). In this way, these apparently positive representations of older women are still just as bad for shaming women s aged bodies as they starkly remind the audience that the sustainability of sexual attractiveness is one of the most highly valued personal commodities in the media market (Garde Hansen, 2012, pp. 161 162). Overall, aging women tend to be inadequately represented in the media for the reason that these women bear the brunt of ageism because they are already devalued as female (Cruikshank, 2009, p. 143). Additionally, because the patriarchy s ideal state for women is docility (Sontag, 1972, p. 38), beauty standards and practices will continue to be enforced helping to shame any appearance that differs from what society deems beautiful. • 22. Women s Roles In Ancient Egyptian Women, As Nefertiti And... Legendary women such as Nefertiti and Cleopatra are the powerful faces of Ancient Egypt that are well known throughout the world, but the details on the lives of ordinary Egyptian women are much more obscure. Many goddesses and other important female figures have been a prevalent topic of study in the ancient Egyptian world, however, the knowledge of how normal women spent their days is not nearly as common. The development of the roles and status of women in ancient Egypt as well as their everyday lives and their impact on society was essential to the advancement of the civilization as a whole. The richest and most primary source other than written text was the artwork that is commonly associated with tombs; for instance, funerary models, reliefs, and wall paintings. Since men were typically the ones who would commission and create conceptual and representational art, many aspects of women s lives were ignored or neglected. It was also very rare for female roles to be included in historical documents from the era because they seldom held high government positions, even though the idea of women being in power was not unheard of or uncommon between 3,000 and 1,000 BC. This research paper will be exploring a wide variety of details in ancient Egyptian women s lives such as marriage, domestic living, legal and political rights, religion, and women of power. From seemingly nothing, he became a successful musician, author, scientist, and printer. In his free time, he helped found and build a country. The key to Franklin s success was his desire and his need to constantly improve himself on all fronts. His quest for excellence began at only the age of 20. It was then that he thought of a program that would motivate and push him to possess more virtuous habits. Since he was also a perfectionist, he drew up a list of 13 virtues, and created a chart on which to keep track of his progress in living them. Each week he would focus on one virtue while also keeping track of the others. He would then move on to the next virtue and so on, eventually going through four cycles of each of the virtues in a single year. When he failed to live up to the ... To farm well requires an elaborate courtesy toward all creatures, animate and inanimate (Wendell Berry). Farming is a delicate balance between producing the most possible from the land without destroying the land. In order for farming to be sustainable more has to be grown with less. Water conservation can be addressed in developing countries by simply embracing modern farming methods. In developed countries more money will have to be invested into water saving irrigation methods. There was a time when you didn t shut the water off when you brushed your teeth and now it is habit to shut the water off to save that little bit of water. The same spirit will have to implemented in farming simple methods can be used to save water. In order for farming to be sustainable in an ever changing world, more time and effort needs to be dedicated to water conservation because the population is growing, water is a finite resource, and using less water allows farmers to irrigate more land with the same amount of water. Farmers across the world will have to embrace modern irrigation techniques. Africa is a prime example of a continent heavily invested in water conservation. Robbins and Mary Coulter in their book titled Management, bureaucracy can be defined as a form of organisation characterised by division of labour, a clearly defined hierarchy, detailed rules and regulations, and impersonal relationship. Bureaucracy usually gives a negative meaning in life. An official is a full time employee, and anticipate a lifelong career. After an introduction period, the employee is given tenure, which protects the employee from arbitrary dismissal. The organization should create a better working scheme such as clear promotion route and good remuneration scheme. Max Weber viewed these bureaucratic elements as solutions to problems or defects within earlier and more traditional administrative systems. Likewise, he viewed these elements as parts of a total system, which, combined and instituted effectively, would increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the administrative structure. 3.0 Critics toward Max Weber Theories of Bureaucracy There are various critics from public administration philosophers toward bureaucracy theory generated by max Weber. 3.0.1 Rigid Rules and Uncreative Weber lined out that the characteristics of his theory on bureaucracy ... Shakespeare may not be racist, but two of his plays do contain racism. One may argue that Shakespeare does not openly speak of racism in his plays, but Shakespeare does write with the idea of racism in mind, because his characters do make comments that can be considered racist. In Shakespeare s plays Othello and The Tempest, the underlying idea of racism is present in these works, and his audiences can come to this conclusion, because of the way the characters, Othello and Caliban, are unjustly treated due to their appearances. Therefore, Brabanzio should not be so distraught about the marriage. This leads to the following question: Why is Othello not good enough in Brabanzio s eyes, when he is supposedly viewed as a friend? The answer is simple. The reason why Brabanzio has Othello as a guest in his home is because of all the good deeds he has done for Venice. Othello is good enough to be friends with Brabanzio, but Othello is not good enough to be a son in law, because of his outsider status and skin color. Later in the play, Brabanzio s claim of the use of magic may be true, when Othello freaks out about Desdemona losing the handkerchief, because Othello claims that it is supposed to keep her faithful to him. Others may argue that the handkerchief is merely a keepsake from his past, but since he goes into detail of the handkerchief s power and history, Brabanzio s argument about magic no longer seems that farfetched; therefore, this scene helps prove Brabanzio s sanity. By proving Brabanzio s sanity, audiences can now come to the conclusion that Brabanzio s outrage about the news of the wedding is due to the fact that he is racist and does not approve of Othello, because of his dark skin color and outside status. Overall, these are just some of the numerous examples of racism throughout the play Othello. Like the play Othello, The Tempest also, portrays numerous examples of the idea of ... Next, The Market Economy was published after the start of the 1970 s recession in the U.S., which could have had some influence on the purpose of this poem. He is credited with causing English Reformation, or the series of events which led to the Church of England separating from the Roman Catholic church, because of his personal agenda and selfish motives. The English Reformation set off a chain of events that led to the Protestant Reformation; although, religious philosopher Richard Hooker played a far more instrumental role than King Henry VIII. Henry VIII s whirlwind marriages ultimately culminated in a nationwide shift from Catholicism to Protestantism; in which the concept of predestination changed England s outlook on life. Of Henry VIII s six wives, his first, Catherine of Aragon, played an instrumental role in beginning the English Reformation. King Henry VIII wished to divorce Catherine; however, there were several extenuating circumstances which prevented him from doing so. In the two paragraphs in which Lucien Santé did not fall out of an iron foundry job, Luc was educated and lived either a life of debauchery, or a life as a Jesuit. The two vehemently opposed each other, but they both allowed Luc to live by privileged means. I had a cat when I was only about one year old and she got run over by a car. Ever since then my family has had a dog. Maybe if I had a cat when I was growing up I would like them more. Owning a puppy is a big commitment for all family members, especially in the first few days or weeks. Everyone knows that cats and dogs are as different as day and night. Dogs will play frisbee with you all afternoon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While cats are bred too, it isn t to the same extent as dogs and cats aren t typically bred for a particular ability like dogs are. Taking care of a little puppy is like taking care of a new born baby. You constantly have to watch them and know what they re doing. Unlike a cat where they are given a toy and they will play with it for hours. Training a puppy isn t the same as training a cat. With a new puppy you have to train them to go to the bathroom outside. Not anywhere in the house. A puppy can only hold on an hour for every month of his or her age plus another hour. So if a puppy is 2 months old it can only hold for three hours. The key is to prevent mistakes and establish good habits early. Cats generally don t go outside to take care of business. Cats have a litter box in the house. Most kittens will readily adapt to a litter box, especially if they were raised with a mother cat. If they pee on the carpet the owner should drag them to their box and force them to dig. But with a puppy you try to make them stop and hurry them outside. Training a pet commands is also different. Dogs will sit, lie down, and heel on command. Cats on the other hand will just smirk and walk away. Another difference between cats and dogs is their social interactions. Dogs are more of pack animals. Members of their pack or family are very critical to them. They look for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Value Creation Essay Value creation Two basic conditions determine a firm s profits: the amount of value customers place on the firm s goods or services and the firm s costs of production. In general, the more value customers place on a firm s products, the higher the price the firm can charge for those products. Note, however, that the price a firm charges for a good and service is typically less then the value placed on that good or service by the customer. This is so because the customer captures some of that value in the form of what economists call a consumer surplus. The value creation by a firm is measured by the difference between the amount of value customers place on the firm s goods or services (V) and firm s cost of production. Michael porter has ... Third, the north american free trade agreement has removed many barriers between US and mexico. Another caveat concerns the importance of assessing political and economic risks when making location decisions. Even if a country looks very attractive as a production location when measured against all the standard criteria, if its govt is unstable or totalitarian, the firm might be advised not to base production there. Or inappropriate economic policies by the govt. Experience effects The experience curve refers to systematic reductions in production costs that have been observed to occur over the life of a product. A number of studies have observed that product s production costs decline by some quantity about each time accumulated output doubles. The relationship was first observed in the aircraft industry, where each time accumulated output of airframes was doubled, unit costs typically declined to 80% of their previous level and it continues. Experience effects are caused due to: learning effects and economies of scale. (draw the experience curve pg 419) Learning effects Learning effects refer to cost savings that come from learning by doing. Labor, for example, learns by repetition how to carry out a task, such as assembling airframes, most efficiently. Labor productivity increases over time as individuals learn the most efficient ways

  • 41. How The Roman Catholic Church s Stance On Peaceful... Conversion in Medieval Iberia can invoke ambivalent feelings. Christians originally wanted to convert Jews and Muslims through kind words and religious teachings from the Bible. This idea, nevertheless, evolved over the centuries and Christians began converting non believers through violence and compulsion. Also, even after individuals were converted, Christians did not fully trust their motivations, and believed they would remiss into their old religions. While Marian miracles did help alleviate these tensions, a number of vicious acts were committed against Jews and Muslims during this time period. In this essay, I am going to examine the idea of conversion from the Christian perspective, and how Christians were able to tempt Jews and Muslims to convert. I am also going to compare the contradictory nature of converting through peaceful and violent means. This comparison will showcase how the Roman Catholic Church s stance on peaceful conversion was overcome by local Christian communities. Conversion is the act of changing one s religion to another religion. During the twelfth to fifteenth century in Medieval Iberia, a number of Jews and Muslims converted to Christianity. To Christians, conversions represented the elimination of dangerous enemies and the ongoing triumph of the new Israel. Christians viewed themselves as the chosen people, as they believed that Jesus Christ died on the cross to save them, and formed a new covenant, while the Jews spurned him and ... • 44. Attitudes, Beliefs, And Behaviors Of A Population Essay The purpose of a survey, according to Patten (2014), is to describe attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors of a population. By surveying a sample of a population, researchers are able to obtain results that later on could be generalized to the population, assuming that a good sample has been drawn (Patten, 2012). These surveys are carefully prepare, and in accord with the study or research that is been carried out. Specific questions regarding the study should be elaborated and worded in a clear and simple way (Berg, 2012). The respondent should feel confortable answering the questionnaire. This confortable feeling will be possible, in part, by the use of a series of key elements that will conform each and every question in the survey. In order to develop the correct wording for the questionnaire, researchers will construct their questions in a way that will not sound antagonistic, threatening, confusing, unsafe to answer, or too complex (Berg, 2012). Following, are a series of questions that have been modified in order to present flaws or some source of bias. These modifications have been made with the intend to explain the common problems that each question has. Suggestions on how these questions might be improved will follow. Questions 1. Many people have been killed because of the sharks, but there are still some people that decide that they want to risk their lives and go in the water. This also causes a problem within the society because the people that choose to go in the water are disobeying any rules that apply to the problem with the sharks. • 46. Illegal Aliens Essay Beware! America is being invaded by aliens! Not the little, green, Martian type you see in science fiction movies, but the real thing. I m talking about the illegal type who come in every day and every night, by land and by sea. Estimates have shown that as many as 500,000 illegal aliens make it across the border every year (Morganthau 67). Illegal immigration causes many problems in the United States, including economic problems, crime, education disputes, and overcrowding. All of these problems were already damaging our country and illegal immigration has made them much, much worse. Let me begin to explain the problem with a story. A woman named Xiomara T. escaped Nicaragua in 1991 to escape the violence afflicting her country (Jost, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If there were no jobs for illegal immigrants to obtain, there would be no reason for foreigners to come here at the onset of it all. The sad part of it all is most illegal aliens have Wyatt 3 little or no job skills at all, but since they work for the low wages, they are the ones who are hired (Harrison 35). Greedy business people will do anything to save a dollar these days, even if it means committing a crime. Many of the illegal immigrants who come to our country live off of our federal aid and receive free money, when they don t even pay in taxes. This free money comes in the forms of welfare, Medicaid, education costs, and other government funds. Our hard earned tax dollars are paying for immigrants who don t even have the right to be here. The Texas head of the House Ways and Means committee, Bill Archer, stated, quot;People should not expect to come to this country with their hands out to receive benefits paid for by taxpaying Americans quot; (Jost ). He is absolutely right these people are getting something for nothing while Americans are getting nothing for our tax dollars when we do something to earn it. Immigrants pay much less in taxes than they receive in the form of social benefits (Leone 8). In fact, the approximate national costs of immigration, including unemployment funds for U.S. workers displaced by immigrants, cost America $42.5 billion more than they paid in taxes in 1992 (Leone 8). • 47. Should We Be Spending The Money On Organic Produce Over... 2. This article is discussing the issue of whether or not we should be spending the money on organic produce over non organic produce. They are clearly portraying that organic food should be purchased and consumed over non organic food. They convey the message that non organic food is relatively a newer concept than organic produce as it has only come into place since 1950s, where before this all food was originally organic grown. Non organic farmers have at their disposal an arsenal of over 320 pesticides and they use them routinely. Evidence links some of these pesticides with developmental damage to mammals that could lead to cancers, developmental problems and birth defects. They re claims that these pesticides are all below safe limits, but it is all very suspicious, whereas organic produce is hardly ever found with any traces of harmful pesticides or food additive as they are only available to very limited numbers. Same goes with their animals, they are only treated with antibiotics when they show clinical signs of illness. Although organic food costs more this article is in the opinion the non organic farming is cracking at the seams, that is unable of delivering safe, healthy food, treating animals humanely, or taking care of the environment properly. Concluding that Organics is the only organised, coherent, global alternative to this failed industrial food experiment. 3. • 48. Research Study On Instructional Practices This study was an action research study meant to benefit the instructional practices in my fourth grade classroom. These findings could have a positive effect on my practice, others within my field, and students. As a result of this study I plan to improve my teaching practices by giving students a variety of opportunities to make choices within the classroom environment. This will allow students to own their own learning experiences and feel powerful within the classroom (Tomlinson, 2001). As a result of this experience I believe students need time to develop their confidence when making choices. I plan to provide students with meaningful learning experiences in which they are encouraged to make choices. This includes continuing to create instruction based menus for each math unit within the fourth grade curriculum. This will allow students to practice making choices. In addition, this will allow high readiness students to choose a variety of tasks to continue their mathematical thinking when they are done early. This creates more time to work with low and medium readiness students. I would also like to extend the practice of menus into other subjects, specifically science and social studies. I believe allowing students to choose their own topic or activity to show their understanding of the content will be a very powerful practice. Students learn, grow, and find interest in different learning experiences. Choice within science and social studies will allow students to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before the oil crisis in 1973 the need for oil has still high and Texaco had found a place that could satisfy some of that need (Zaitchik, 2014). Texaco as well as the prominent Gulf Oil began to work in the Oriente region of Ecuador. However, it was not until 1972 that Texaco began to work in the Lago Agrio Oil Field one year before the Oil Crisis. This drilling for oil continued until 1993 when Texaco left after being accused of dumping toxic waste into the local water systems for 21 years (Amazon Watch, 2013). Needless to say the evidence was overwhelming and they lost the case and the 30,000 effected villagers as well as the Ecuadorian government won. Chevron appealed the court with more evidence and they lost that as well (Chevron Toxico, 2013). Chevron filed RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) against those who won the first case. They then went after the scientists who were doing reports in the local areas. They told their funders that they were in on a little conspiracy in the Amazon regions. The bargain was either loose funding or change the results; and the scientists chose the latter. Chevron then went after the journalists who were documenting the spill and toxic waste. With the RICO charges filed, all journalists were required to turn over all unused interview footage which did not only make it extremely hard to interview those who were willing, but they also had to be very careful with questions that were posed.
