Meninas, but each in their own unique way. He may have borrowed Velázquez s idea, but he created
his own, very original, works of art around that idea. Now, the 58 pieces stand in a museum in Spain,
where they are displayed to be gazed upon and to be appreciated by other citizens of Spain. Velázquez
s Las Meninas is now in Museo del Prado, in Madrid, Spain.Velázquez s Las Meninas and Picasso s
Versions of Las Meninas have quite a few similarities. For starters, in both paintings there is the little
princess in the middle of a room. She is also wearing the same outfit in each painting, even though
Picasso s version looks a little more like a block. In both of the pictures, the little princess is taking
what looks like a cup from one of her ladies in waiting that is handing it to her on a golden tray. If you
look closely at Velázquez s painting, you can see that the cup in the princess hand has a hint of red

heading in the direction of luxury. It seems as if, through research, that many couples are successful if
they have all of the adequate means that the well educated men and women have. As we look at the

women feel as if they are not economically ready and fit to start a family. Several years ago, it was

Political Style Of George Orwell
George Orwell is well known for his writing focusing on political events throughout Europe. His most
popular novels sent warnings about totalitarianism to its readers, leaving that as his mark in literature.
However, a closer look at his writing shows his changing political views based on both the political
movements at the time and Orwell s experiences with those political movements. Eric Arthur Blair,
better known under the pseudonym George Orwell, based his writing on the political climate during
his time. Living from 1903 to 1950, Orwell found himself writing about the ever changing, politically
charged environment around him. As Orwell wrote, background information must be included because
one cannot assess a writer s motives without knowing something of his early development. His father,
who Orwell was not close to, was a minor British official in the Indian Civil Service, which would
later influence his opinion on British imperialism in Burma. His family was lower middle class, even
though they had high social status. They returned to England, where Orwell went to school at Eton on
a scholarship (Baker vii). He was unhappy during his time at school since his family made much less
money than the other boys there. After Eton, he returned to Burma as a member of the Imperial
constabulary. He discovered that he was hated by the Burmese since he was a symbol of British
imperialism, which made him hate the work itself (viii).
His experiences lead to his writing, Burmese Days, and his return to England to live amongst the
beggars in the East End of London. His experiences both there and in the slums of Paris lead to Down
and Out in Paris and London and The Road to Wigan Pier. The latter ended with harsh criticisms of
the socialist movements of the time. His time in the Spanish Civil War, which included nearly losing
his life at the hands of communists who wanted to suppress their political opponents, was detailed in
Homage to Catalonia and left him with a lifelong dread of communism. This experience could have
been why his next writing, Coming Up for Air, showed a more conservative side (Baker vii).

Good morning and welcome back, to Poetry and Society, lesson 5. In today s lesson we will be
exploring the attitudes and morals portrayed in the poem Charge of the Light Brigade written by
Alfred Lord Tennyson; through the literary devices, themes and form, and how they are relevant to the
Crimean War.
Alfred Lord Tennyson, is a renowned British poet from the Victorian Era. Loving books as a little kid,
lead to him to writing a 6000 lined epic poem at the age of 12. Since that age he continued to write
poems and soon enough in 1850 became the most popular poet in the Victorian Era. Two years later
the Crimean war broke out between the Russians and the British. Tennyson, intrigued by the war,
decided to write about the famous Battle of Balaclava; where the British Cavalry had in fact attacked
the wrong unit whilst in battle. This lead to his most famous poem Charge of the Light Brigade, which
informed both people at the time and people now of the mistake the British made.

Abstract Image captured by two dimensional camera contains no depth information. However depth
information is needed in many applications, for example in robotic vision, satellite imaging and target
tracking. To extract depth information from images Stereo matching is used. The main aim of our
project is to use stereo matching algorithms to plot the disparity map of segmented images which
gives the depth information details. Particle Swarm Optimization and K means algorithms are used for
image segmentation. Our main objective is to implement stereo matching algorithms on the segmented
images, compare the results of K means and PSO on the basis of objective parameters such as PSNR,
execution time, density of disparity map and compression ratio and perform subjective analysis of
reconstructed 3 D images. The compared results show that the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm
gives better 3 D reconstructed image.

During lab, we put the metal copper under different circumstances so that we could gain a better
understanding as to what goes on in the copper cycle. Throughout each stage of the copper cycle, we
deduced what type of chemical reaction took place based on observation, made observations about the
state of the metal and what type of environment it was subjected to, and determined what the net ionic
equation was for each stage. Following the experiment, we calculated what the percent yield was and
compared the changes in mass from the initial stage to the final stage.
Materials and Methods:
First, we assembled a fume hood by using a ring stand, a hot plate, a 50 ml beaker, an iron ring to
secure the beaker, and a plastic funnel hooked up to rubber tubing and an aspirator. A hose from the
sink was then connected to the aspirator and the pressure that the water created allowed the fume hood
to remove whatever excess gas was given off during the experiment. In cycle step one, we placed
approximately 250 mg of copper into the 50 ml beaker then added 6 ml of HNO_3. We then heated the
plate to 10° C until the reaction took place to save time. We would recommend heating the plate
