Abstract In today s world, the small as well as big organizations are using different technology to
protect their data and to use the database as and when they need. As we know that the traditional
database system are usually deployed in closed environment where user can access the system only
through a restricted network or internet. With the fast growth of WWW, user can access virtually any
database for which they have proper access right from anywhere in the world. But this comfortness
comes with certain type of risk like security and privacy. To overcome this problem, we are
introducing a new technique called as fog computing. .

Fog computing is simillar to cloud. Fog provides data, storage, compute and applications to the end
user. Rather than presenting and working from centralized cloud, fog operates on network edge.
Because of this, it requires less time to

The Textile Industry During The Industrial Revolution
What were the inventions of the textile industry during the Industrial Revolution?
What was the Industrial Revolution? The Industrial Revolution was movement which began in 1760
and ended in 1840. The Industrial Revolution began in Great Britain and it slowly began to spread
throughout Europe and the Americas. It was a time period when manufacturing of goods and products
moved from small houses to large factories. Before the Industrial Revolution, goods were made
manually using hand tools and basic machines. During the Industrial Revolution automation had
started, manufacturers started investing in more effective machines that made goods and products
faster.
Why did it began In England? There are many reasons why the industrial revolution began in Britain.
First of all, the Agricultural Revolution in the 18th century resulted in increased food production and
population growth. Secondly, Britain also has financial innovations such as central banks and stock
markets which encouraged people to invest and trade more. Furthermore, Britain had large deposits of
coal and iron which was essential to the growth of all new machines made by iron or steel and
powered by coal. There were several other factors that made Britain the ideal place for the industrial
revolution. There were also many other industries such as the iron making industry, glass making
industry, mining industry but one of the most important one is the textile industry.

The American Dream.
The American Dream, a dream on which our country has been built on and continues to develop and
bring new and new waves of immigrants. It is a part of each American; this dream has been the light at
the end of the tunnel for which our parents and ancestors were coming for. To find a life that was
rewarded and built only on their will of hard working and efforts. The term American Dream is one of
the triggers that lead to the shores of the USA many thousands of immigrants, it had a deep meaning
for them, and it was first introduced to us by an American writer and historian James Truslow Adams
in his 1931 book called The Epic of America , where he gives the definition of the term how he said

I think that even though the way of achieving The American Dream has become more and difficult
saying I have achieved my American dream is heard not often, there is still a chance to really achieve
it. All we have to do is forget about material success and live in the way our ancestors were living by
finding a good husband or wife, by having kids and living from day to day. That was their dream, and
we can always look and find that dream in our society. Another interesting trajectory that the concept
of The American Dream can give a key, is the concept of social classes. Social classes that we have
today are upper, middle, lower and the working class. The American Dream is rewarding those who
are hard workers, who have qualities and skills, those people can always reach the top goals. But now
days we have people who are working hard, who have skills but they barely make the ends. This
shows that material success is very difficult to reach; we have 1% of rich people who have the
financial resources to control the rest of people (Schaefer 216). Even though the financial crisis had a
crucial impact on our economy, more people were answering positively on a question Have you
already reached The American Dream ? About 44% of people answered yes in 2009 in compare with
32% in 2005 (TheNewYorkTimes). In difficult financial times, people started to appreciate what

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Depression Essay
Everyone feels blue or sad occasionally, but if debilitating negative emotions begin to interfere with
your daily life and normal functioning treatment should be sought to see if you may be suffering from
depression. The rate of depression worldwide has seen a steady increase over the last few decades and
according to the World Health Organization (2011), it is the number one cause of disability in the U.S.
with economic costs exceeding in to the billions. Stress, which is directly correlated to depression, has
many contributing variables that can be very detrimental to your physiological and psychological
health [may be need more explanation and some specific examples to make argument stronger].
Depression is a very serious mental illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and
how you act. It can be caused by stressful events or can occur spontaneously, with no identifiable
specific cause. Those suffering from depression looking for a treatment to alleviate feelings of
negative affect will most likely be prescribed some sort of antidepressant drug. During the past 15
years, a plethora of antidepressant drugs has entered the marketplace all claiming to be the cure all for
your biochemical dysfunction (Benkert, O., Szegedi, A, Muller, M. J., 2002). However, many
antidepressants can cause severe side effects both physically and mentally. Tensions between the

The Segregation Of South Africa
Africa is a country with many different government parties, each having its own legislation. Although
much of the country is of the non white population, the government officials in South Africa were all
white. This lack of diversity within the government led to the establishment of racial segregation, the
term used for this segregation was apartheid.
Many of the issues that led to the eventual establishment of segregation stemmed from the 1913 Land
Act, marked the beginning of territorial segregation by forcing black Africans to live in reserves and
making it illegal for them to work as sharecroppers. (History) For nearly 35 years, the power of the
segregation grew cumulating once the Afrikaner National Party won the elections in 1948.
After the National Party took control of the government, they passed legislation implementing
controls on the interactions that the population would have between the different ethicizes. Not only
were the people segregated, but the land was also divided between white and nonwhite territories.
While the apartheid was in full affect, there were different social groups for each race the Bantu was a
term used for the all black people. The government in 1958 feared the possibility of the Bantu people
strengthening in a combined power eventually raising against the government. Due to this fear, the
government divided the Bantu people in to separate group with the intentions that if the people are
separated they would not have the power

Essay on Gastroparesis
Gastroparesis
Gastroparesis is a digestive disorder in which the motility of the stomach is either abnormal or absent.
Gastro means stomach and paresis means weakness. Gastroparesis is a weak stomach. This condition
is very common. It can be the cause of a number of abdominal complaints. It is usually not a serious
problem and there are effective treatments available.
In normal health, when the stomach is functioning normally. The stomach has two parts. The upper
portion is called the fundus which is where swallowed food and liquid collect. The lower portion is
called the antrum. This is the stomach grinder. It is where food is churned back and forth until it is

Fortunately, gastric emptying resumes and symptoms improve when food intake and eating schedules
normalize. Symptoms of gastroparesis include bloating, nausea, and early fullness while eating meals,
heartburn, and epigastric pain. The most common symptom is early satiety, or the sensation of feeling
full shortly after starting a meal. Nausea and vomiting are also common. A person with gastroparesis
may vomit undigested food many hours after their last meal. Weight loss can occur due to poor
absorption of nutrients, or taking in too few calories.
The diagnosis of gastroparesis starts with the medical history where the physician may suspect the
diagnosis based on the symptoms. A gastric or stomach emptying test is presently the best method of
making the diagnosis. In this test, a food, such as scrambled eggs, is labeled with a marker, which can
be seen by a scanner. Following ingestion, the scanner tracks the time it takes for the food to leave the
stomach. In general, half the stomach contents should leave within about 90 minutes. A final test is the
electrogastrogram (EGG). This test, like the EKG on the heart, measures the electrical waves that
normally sweep over the stomach and precede each contraction.
Diet is one of the foundations of treatment for those who suffer from gastroparesis. Some foods are
more difficult than others for the stomach to digest. Fatty foods take a longer time to digest, so do
foods that

Political Irrectness In The Play Oleanna
Picture someone patting someone on the back in the spirit of reassurance, now picture the recipient
and notice that they see an opportunity to exploit a system in order to beat a dead horse. Thesis: The
overall structure of political correctness is flawed, it does things such as create room to exploit
language on a legal level, demean and create a useless pressure to be mindful of one s words. Not to
say however that one should be rude. These reasons are why one could argue that the PC movement
does more harm than good. The play Oleanna highlights how political correctness can be used and
exploited to forward a personal opinion. Oleanna, a play written by David Mamet, is widely renowned
for its unique style and appeal. Most of all, however, it is the story within that appeals to most people.
In this play, a character known as Carol is shown at first as a student seeking help. Later on in the
play, however, it is revealed that her appearance in the office of John, a college professor, had many
ulterior motives. Over the course of the play, she takes advantage of politically correct language, using
it to thrash John with increasing intensity. Carol eventually goes to attack John for referring to the
tenure committee as good men . To refer to the committee as Good Men and True, it is a demeaning
remark. It is a sexist remark, and to overlook it is to countenance continuation of that method of
thought (Mamet 32). This use of Political Correctness is clearly not the

Essay on Use of Humor in Erdrich s Tracks
Use of Humor in Erdrich s Tracks
An old adage claims that laughter is the best medicine to cure human ailments. Although this
treatment might sound somewhat unorthodox, its value as a remedy can be traced back to ancient
times when Hypocrites, in his medical treatise, stressed the importance of a gay and cheerful mood on
the part of the physician and patient fighting disease (Bakhtin 67). Aristotle viewed laughter as man s
quintessential privilege: Of all living creatures only man is endowed with laughter (Bakhtin 68). In the
Middle Ages, laughter was an integral part of folk culture. Carnival festivities and the comic

[in] a kind of personal tribalism that begins with two people, configurates around families, composes
itself in extended kin and clan, and ends up defining a culture (Lincoln 63). In Tracks, the power of
Native American humor to profoundly affect human experience is portrayed through the characters of
Nanapush and Fleur.
In his role as Nanabush the trickster, a central figure in Chippewa (Ojibwa) storytelling, Nanapush
demonstrates the power of Native American humor in his own life, when he challenges the gods and
cheats death by playing a trick on them: During the year of the sickness, when I was the last one left, I
saved myself by starting a story . . . . I got well by talking. Death could not get a word in edgewise,
grew discouraged, and traveled on (Erdrich 46). The trickster figure is characterized as a man of many
guises, dualistic in nature good and bad and often considered quite a lover. He is a survivor, physically
and psychologically. As one who endures, he transcends the temporal and functions as an affirmation
of the self. The trickster is also central to the tribe s worldview, with power that extends beyond
himself, guiding his people toward a view of themselves and of possibility that they might not have
seen otherwise (Ghezzi 444). To fulfill his role as trickster, Nanapush uses humor as powerful
medicine not only for himself, but also for his tribe.
Nanapush purposefully directs his own special brand of humor raucous

General Culture And Business Etiquette. The Culture In
General Culture and Business Etiquette The culture in Singapore could be described as authoritarian,

Application Of The Gauss Newton Method
As a final example of the application of the Gauss Newton method, we attempted to find the best fit
for a set of data with a sinusoidal function. This example illustrates how the Gauss Newton method
can applied to functions with more that just two variables, and that it can be applied to an equation of
any form. In it, will attempt to model temperature data with a sinusoidal function. Below is a chart of
the average high temperatures per month of the city of Monroe Louisiana (courtesy of weather.com).
Month Temperature (Fahrenheit) January 56 February 60 March 69 April 77 May 84 June 90 July 94
August 94 September 88 October 79 November 68 December 58 As can be seen by the chart, this data
appears to take the form of a sinusoidal function. Therefore, we will try to fit it with the general form
of this function, shown below: y(t)=A∗sin(w∗t+phi )+C A is the amplitude, w is the frequency, t is
time, phi is the phase and C is a constant. Given this equation there are four unknowns that must be
found. In the code, these four variables are represented by the column vector a and are returned in the
column vector w. As always, the code requires that we first solve, analytically, for the partial
derivatives required for the Jacobian. In this example, the function to be minimized, r, is given by:
rk=qk−(a1∗sin(a2∗pk+a3)+a4) where rk is the residual at the particular temperature value, qk is the
measured temperature and pk is the month, represented in the code as January = 1, February

Summary Of Greedy Joke Puppy By Atkinson
The short story, Greedy Choke Puppy by Nalo Hopkinson, is about the story of Grandmother and her

is night witch and blood sucker. In the Greedy Choke Puppy , author uses the literary elements of
irony, foreshadowing, and allusion to support the development of the theme of greed because these
elements help to explain that soucouyants greed makes soucouyants to throw their morality away. The
author demonstrates soucouyants greed with the literary element of irony. According to Hopkinson s

the Role of Folklore (Hopkinson 171). It shows irony that why soucouyant works with her thesis paper

Ct, Mri, And Coronal Images Of The Body Planes
CT This week I rotated through CT. CT is computed tomography. CT uses special x ray machines to
show detailed images of the body planes. This machine splits the body into axial, sagittal, and coronal
images on one scan. Some CT scans are done with contrast and some are done without contrast.
Contrast in used to highlight the vessels in the body so they will show up bright on the image. The
contrast is injected through an IV that is inserted by either a tech or a nurse. Most scans were done on
the chest, abdomen or pelvis but I also seen a few soft tissue neck scans and head scans. CT does both

doesn t take much for them to fall behind. I enjoyed working in CT and cannot wait to go back. All the

Australian exports which made China the number one buyer of our exports here in Australia. The
products that China buy include agricultural produce, Australian mining products such as iron ore and
coal/energy products. Australia also relies on China in the form of foreign investment. The main
interest that China has is infrastructure projects. Australia has been the second largest receiver of

Australia relies on China in the form of tourism. Tourism is great for Australia because as the more

Concentration of media ownership refers to the process where progressively fewer individuals or
organizations control increasing shares of the mass media, further impacting the consumers of media
because a lack of people in control of what is consumed every day leads to a lack of diversity in the
opinions consumers are forced to believe. Without a diversity of viewpoints, the public will not be
able to make up their own minds. This causes a loss of citizen access to information and the downfall
of political and social participation. In relation to the concentration of media ownership is
globalization, the process of multinational conglomerates performing the lion s share of media
acquisitions, potentially leading to a bias and misplaced priorities. The last of the forces is
hypercommercialism, the rise in the number of commercial minutes in a typical broadcast or cable
show used to recoup the costs involved in acquiring numerous media outlets, domestic and
international, and of reaching an increasingly fragmented audience; the selling of advertisements on
existing and new media and identifying additional ways to combine content and commercials are the
two most common strategies. This not only leads to consumers complaining that there are too many

Fate Vs Free Will In Macbeth Essay
Yanira Soto
English IV
Mrs. Crockett
February 3, 2016
To kill or not to kill The play, Macbeth, was written by William Shakespeare in 1606. This
performance is one of the most fascinating plays by Shakespeare. It was a royal entertainment made to
praise King James I. This enchanting play has many themes throughout the story. Fate vs. Free will is
one of the many points faced in the theater piece. While Macbeth had the ability to ignore the
prophecy, he chose to kill the king. In return, he became the ruler and suffered the same fate as his
victim. Since the prophecies of the witches came true, Macbeth chose to murder those who learned of
his skull doggery, and Macbeth was forced to kill them. Furthermore, fate is the events that are
predetermined. In this play, Macbeth murders King Duncan and he later encounters his own death.
(Cain, Murderous Thinking In Macbeth pg. 255 263). observes, We know that Macbeth must be killed
even as, at the end, we may find ourselves hoping that this murderer will escape the death he deserves.
In no other play does Shakespeare allow us to think like this of a murderer. In this case, Macbeth gets
a taste of his own blood. He dies at the end, so he practically experiences his own destiny. ... Show

that husband and wife don t express their emotions for each other but in it doesn t mean they don t
have the emotions or feelings. Though they don t express themselves apparently, but they keep a
strong intimacy, attachment for each other which is beyond the limitation. But in the case of Mr. and
Mrs. Das, we see that they are quite frank, behave with their children like an elder brother and sister,
not like parents. On the apparent level they have great intimacy but as the story unfolds, it becomes
clear that they lack the emotional attachment especially from the side of Mrs. Das as she is suffering
from a guilt consciousness with which Mr. Das is completely unaware of. She even finds Mr. Kapasi
as a suitable person to talk about her past instead of her husband. Interestingly enough, the marriage of
Mr. and Mrs. Das was not an arrange marriage, rather Mrs. Das had fallen in love with Mr. Das at a
young age and later they got married with the permission of their respective families but it can t be
called a typical arranged marriage. Even Mrs. Das frankly talks to Mr. Kapasi about her sexual

wife naked. Even he does not approve the infidelity which Mrs. Das has committed though his own

How Did The Living Conditions Affect Nebraska s Life
In the nineteenth century, the living conditions in Nebraska were tough to say the least. Reminiscences
about the pioneer life often describe conditions such as droughts, blizzards, and grasshopper
infestations. In the first few years, life in Nebraska was centered in the towns and farms along the west
bank of the Missouri River. Nebraska was linked to everywhere else, but river steamboats. People
tried to recreate the social life that they had at their previous home, but they were also influenced by
the events that went on around them. Trains loaded and unloaded people at Nebraska City, Brownville,
Wyoming, or Omaha where home and farms were established and new towns were built. On
Independence Day, they would use any method to explode gun

Importance Of Purification Of Water Essay
Purification of Water to Save Humanity Thought water is the other name of life, more than billion
people around the world cannot drink clean water. Some of them used to walk for milieus just to fetch
water for themselves and their families. In some places where the supply of water is enough, it is
found most of the time the water is polluted with virus and bacteria which can form deadly diseases.
Not only in the undeveloped countries but also in developing countries water sources are polluted
sometimes. And there s another group that lacks access to abundant, safe, clean drinking water:
astronauts. As astronauts have to take things what they need and they have to reuse and recycle every
dewdrop of water. On the International Space Station, where U.S. Astronaut Scott Kelly recently spent
a year in orbit, specialized technology developed by NASA collects every bit of moisture, including
sweat and urine, and turns it into drinkable water Filtration is the only solution. As all filters are not
equal depending on the expenditure some of them can only drain out dirt and low level bacteria which
are harmful mostly for young children s as the water used to carry a dangerous virus. Luckily the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) scientists come forward with their best water
filtering technology. In 2000, Florida based Argon ide was working with nanomaterials and discovered
its Nanoceramic fibers had properties that made them excellent as water filters. The main benefit to
the nanofibers was their unusually strong bio adhesively meaning particles, including viruses and
bacteria, were easily attracted to the fibers. When water passed through a filter woven of the fibers,
these particles flocked to the fibers and got stuck there, leaving virus and bacteria free water on the
other side. NASA rewarded the company. The Nanoceramic fibers produce an electropositive charge
when water flows through them. Many impurities carry a slight negative charge and are absorbed by
the filter, explained Tom Smokoff, founder of Water Pure Technologies. Some filters were designed by
using membranes with small pores so

Incubation Paper
Problem solving can be facilitated by an incubation effect, which is a sudden realisation of an
appropriate answer or insight (Smith Blankenship, 1991). Incubation has been widely studied to
understand performance, such as in problem solving, enhancing creativity, or its association with
unconscious processing.
Many studies have found supporting evidence for incubation as a facilitating mechanism for problem
solving. Smith and Blankenship (1991) found reliable results and good internal validity when they
found improved performance on the Remote Associates Tasks (RAT) due to incubation effects. Their
five experiments on the RAT showed that incubation effects were only effective after fixation, which
was a mechanism that prevented the subject ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ritter and Dijksterhuis (2014) found that unconscious processing during a period of incubation can
positively influence creativity. They argued that it is not only the lack of conscious processing during
an incubation period, but rather the presence of unconscious thoughts that heavily influence an
individual s level of creativity (Ritter Dijksterhuis, 2014). Gilhooly, Georgiou, Garrison, Reston, and
Sirota (2012) found that immediate incubation periods facilitated in creative tasks, such as the
Alternative Uses Task (AUT), through unconscious processes. They suggested that delayed incubation
periods can be interfered by conscious processing before the incubation period had initiated, where
forgetfulness and unconscious processing are both occurring (Gilhooly et al., 2012). In contrast, an
immediate incubation period where only unconscious processing takes place and subsequently
followed by conscious problem solving post incubation, is more effective for creativity (Gilhooly et
al., 2012). Despite the supporting evidence, studies, such as Segal (2004), concluded that his findings
did not support the evidence of unconscious processing reported in the current literature. Rather, his
results supported his returning act hypothesis that incubation served as a diversion to rearrange
possible accurate assumptions when the participants returned to the target task (Segal, 2004). Hence,
this notion of mental rearranging involves conscious processing rather than unconscious

burglars on the job
Burglars On The Job Scott Decker and Richard Wright studied and wrote a book on criminals who
make their livings burglarizing people s homes. They named the book Burglars on the Job. Their study
found that most of the criminals that were career burglars stole to further their drug habits. Many of
these career criminals were only making a living by stealing from others. In 1893 Emile Drurkheim
came up with the original concept of anomie. He studied suicides in Europe and found a condition of
normlessness or lack oh norms and called it anomie. Robert Merton borrowed from Durkheims work

His theory argues that individuals make individuals make bonds to society. He believed that there
were four types of bonds. They are attachment, commitment, involvement, and belief. Most of the
criminals have little to no conventional ties to the societies they live in. most of the criminals have
little to no real attachment to the societies they live in because they are only looking out for
themselves. If they did have families they put them second to partying with alcohol and drugs. They
are not committed to any bonds because most of them have no jobs, families, or real friends. They
have only committed to themselves and no one else. They may have people that they hang out with
and party but at the end of the day they would not help them out if they needed it unless it benefitted
themselves. They have no involvement in society because the only thing they care about themselves
so no one else matters to them. This is why they will burglarize homes within their own neighborhood.
The burglars also do not have any belief bonds with society. The society has morals and beliefs and
these burglars did not agree with them so they kept burglarizing. The community did play a major part
in the hustler s upbringing and raising. They grew up in neighborhoods that had no social bonds to
society so the were never exposed to positive influences growing up. The culture they grew up in has

Latinos, Politics, and American Cinema Essay
Latinos, Politics, and American Cinema
Feature films in the United States influence American viewers attitudes on a wide variety of topics.
Americans attitudes toward politics are shaped by films, and specifically the politics of racial
interaction. The history of modern feature films begins with Birth of a Nation (1915), a film that
misrepresents the Black race by justifying the existence and role of the Ku Klux Klan in American
society. From this racist precedent, producers and directors understood that visual messages, however
latent, were a useful means of communicating a political message to a large audience. After this
epiphany, a myriad of films were made for different political causes. Most films had multiple
messages, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stam states that this discourse is beside the point because it is impossible to make a realistic film. The
fact that film watching is an escapist endeavor cannot be denied, but the problem lies in the fact that
modern Western society has to see it to believe it, and subsequently viewers associate films with a
sense of the real. Stam is right in saying that a realistic film cannot be made, but he ignores the fact
that the stereotypes he dismisses had very real political messages in the Welles era. The presence of
these racial and political messages in films cannot be denied because to a large extent they account for
the racist attitudes against Latinos that persist today in White mainstream America.
Later in film s history, the Chicano resistance movement sought to change the overall racist views
that, by the 1970 s had been embedded in the American psyche. The conservative stereotypes of
violent, sex crazed Latinos had a negative impact on the race s treatment, so Luis Valdez and his
cohorts presented a liberal brand of politics to counter this racism, using films that embraced the true
Chicano cultural identity.
The history of film is essentially one of representation of certain groups, or as the case may be,
misrepresentation. After America s short stint with Nickelodeon type movie theatres, full length
feature films became the norm with Birth of a Nation (1915). D.W. Griffith used the film to innovate
cinematography, but made few compromises to create a

Taking a Look at the Philadelphia Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies have been a staple in Major League baseball for over 120 years. The Phillies
are one of the League s oldest teams dating back all the way to the year 1883. Over the years the
Phillies have acquired many accolades and accomplishments; although the Phillies are a decorated
team for many positive reasons they have also become the league s most losing team, with over
10,000 losses. Although the Philadelphia franchise may have the most losses in any professional sport,
whether it is football, basketball, or soccer, they have had many playoff runs and even a few World
Series appearances. Throughout the winning and the losing seasons the Phillies have had some very
good players, which went on to be a Hall of Famers, while many of the players were mediocre at best.
Although not all of the players that played in Philadelphia were good, they had heart and drive to not
let the rambunctious fans in Philadelphia not get the best of them. Whenever a family goes to one of
these baseball games, the game may not be the center of attention for the kids or even the adults with
the most entertaining mascot of all the Phillie Phanatic dancing around and being goofy in front of
20,000 people in the stands. The Phillies are a Major League Baseball team, located in Philadelphia,

In 1999 Larry and Andy Wachowski wrote and directed an American science fiction action film called
The Matrix. The movie depicted a future where many humans might perceive is real, is actually a
simulated reality. The Wachowski brothers made many explicit references in their film based on the
work of French sociologist Jean Baudrillard. In Jean Baudrillard s essay entitled Simulacra and
Simulations he mentions in his essay how society has replaced all reality and meaning with
representation of symbols and signs. Baudrillard starts off with an example of Borges tale,

He tells Neo Welcome to the desert of the real, desert of the real is a quote from Baudrillard s essay
that explains after the simulation has been taken away, we are left with our real reality, the reality that
is decaying, leaving us with not much left.
The reality itself erodes to the point that it becomes a desert (Sparknotes). In this scene they are in a
simulated reality with nothing but a blank, white room, with a sofa, and a television set. Morpheus has
New York, as they perceive it, in the year of 1999 displayed on the television. It is shown as a busy,
bright, a vibrant city. Then he switches the channel to how the world really is today, the year closer to
2199. How the world really is in the year 2199 is nothing but a depressing, broken down, apocalyptic
wasteland (The Film Journal). It would seem that the Wachowski brother s aim to illustrate
Baudrillard s concept in The Matrix was well put together. They made it very clear that their portayal
of The Matrix is a simulation that derived from a real reality that is no longer rational. In otherwords,
now that Neo has awoken to the truth, he could no longer go back to what he thought is real and see it
the same as before.

Design And Design Of Design Essay
Design and build is a generic term describing a procurement route in which the main contractor is
appointed to design and construct the works, as opposed to a traditional contract, where theclient
appoints consultants to design the development and then a contractor is appointed to construct the
works. Design and build can appeal to clients as it gives a single point of responsibility for delivering
the entire project. Some clients however consider it is only appropriate for simple projects,
wheredesign quality is not the main consideration. The contractor can either be appointed to carry out
all of the design work, or if the client wishes to have greater influence over the design, a concept
design and outline (or performance)specification can be prepared by a consultants employed by the
client, and then the contractor is appointed to complete the design and carry out the construction. The
contractor may use their own in house designers to design the building, or they can appoint consultant
designers, or the client s designers can be employed by the contractor to complete the design (either
by novation or consultant switch). If the contractor is appointed at the outset of the project (so that
they can contribute to the development of the design from the beginning), they may be appointed
through a two stage process. In the first stage, the contractor is selected on the basis of a fee,
preliminaries, overheads and profit. They then work with the design team (who may be

The director of the film adaptation, Ang Lee makes a commentary on Chang and Lust, Caution that to
me, no writer has ever used the Chinese language as cruelly as Zhang Ailing (Eileen Chang), and no
story of hers is as beautiful or as cruel as Lust, Caution (Peng vii). If we examine the early life
experience of Eileen Chang, we can see her life has something in common with the protagonist in
Lust, Caution, Wang Chia Chih. For example, they were both from Shanghai, fled to Hong Kong at
the beginning of WWII, and went back to Shanghai after the Pacific War broke out (Zhang et al. 237).
In order to make Chang and Wang bear more resemblances, the film even adds a few plots to make the
kinship between Chang and Wang more evidently (Kuo 46). For example, Chang s father remarried

Music And Censorship In Rock And Roll Music
Censorship has long been an issue in Rock and Roll music. Although our American society celebrates
classic rock that emerged in the 60 s and 70 s, today, artists such as: The Rolling Stones, The Beatles,
The Doors, The Sex Pistols, and Bob Dylan were harshly judged for their music and image they
projected because some members of society feared they were too suggestive, or just completely
inappropriate. These rebellious artists fought against their music being censored in the best ways for
their bands. The Rolling Stones was one of the first bands of the 60 s to have their song (I Can t Get
No) Satisfaction banned from the radio due to the fact that some could consider it indecent (Rutledge
Borger, 2012). The Stones music was enjoyed by many, but the lyrics had the potential to spark
controversy, especially during live performances. Producers and planners of live performances were
more conservative and cautious of keeping television clean and suitable for all ages, and would go to
great lengths to make sure that all was kept modest. That is exactly what happened on The Ed Sullivan
Show on September 11, 1967. The Rolling Stones were allowed to perform on the show as long as
they agreed that they would change the let s spend the night together lyrics to a more appropriate let s

Analysis Of War And Peace By Leo Tolstoy
In this paper, I will discuss the concept of simplicity in War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. That simplicity
is narratively shown by character Platon Karataev (Platon for short), his dog, the complexity of Pierre
and Tolstoy s philosophy of life.
Platon and Pierre are inmates to one another. Platon shows up in Chapter 3 of Book 12, 13 and 14.
Even though a number of words Tolstoy writes about Platon is not significant compared to our
personas such as Pierre, Natasha or Prince Andrew, it s still enough for us, the reader, to perceive the
simplicity of this character. Platon is a simple person, physically and spiritually. On page 857, line

experiences with the current state of the US armed forces. I was drawn to author, ZZ Packer s Buffalo
Soldiers because of my experience in the US armed services and, as I read the book it became clear
that the US armed services today is very different from what it was at the time when the Buffalo

1. Is a vital national security interest threatened?
2. Do we have a clear attainable objective?
3. Have the risks and costs been fully and frankly analyzed?
4. Have all other non violent policy means been fully

The term American Dream is one of the triggers that lead to the shores of the USA many thousands of immigrants, it had a deep meaning for them, and it was first introduced to us by an American writer and historian James Truslow Adams in his 1931 book called The Epic of America , where he gives the definition of the term how he said The American Dream , by saying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think that even though the way of achieving The American Dream has become more and difficult saying I have achieved my American dream is heard not often, there is still a chance to really achieve it. All we have to do is forget about material success and live in the way our ancestors were living by finding a good husband or wife, by having kids and living from day to day. That was their dream, and we can always look and find that dream in our society. Another interesting trajectory that the concept of The American Dream can give a key, is the concept of social classes. Social classes that we have today are upper, middle, lower and the working class. The American Dream is rewarding those who are hard workers, who have qualities and skills, those people can always reach the top goals. But now days we have people who are working hard, who have skills but they barely make the ends. This shows that material success is very difficult to reach; we have 1% of rich people who have the financial resources to control the rest of people (Schaefer 216). Even though the financial crisis had a crucial impact on our economy, more people were answering positively on a question Have you already reached The American Dream ? • 7. The Segregation Of South Africa Africa is a country with many different government parties, each having its own legislation. Although much of the country is of the non white population, the government officials in South Africa were all white. This lack of diversity within the government led to the establishment of racial segregation, the term used for this segregation was apartheid. Many of the issues that led to the eventual establishment of segregation stemmed from the 1913 Land Act, marked the beginning of territorial segregation by forcing black Africans to live in reserves and making it illegal for them to work as sharecroppers. (History) For nearly 35 years, the power of the segregation grew cumulating once the Afrikaner National Party won the elections in 1948. After the National Party took control of the government, they passed legislation implementing controls on the interactions that the population would have between the different ethicizes. Not only were the people segregated, but the land was also divided between white and nonwhite territories. While the apartheid was in full affect, there were different social groups for each race the Bantu was a term used for the all black people. The government in 1958 feared the possibility of the Bantu people strengthening in a combined power eventually raising against the government. Symptoms of gastroparesis include bloating, nausea, and early fullness while eating meals, heartburn, and epigastric pain. The most common symptom is early satiety, or the sensation of feeling full shortly after starting a meal. Nausea and vomiting are also common. A person with gastroparesis may vomit undigested food many hours after their last meal. Weight loss can occur due to poor absorption of nutrients, or taking in too few calories. The diagnosis of gastroparesis starts with the medical history where the physician may suspect the diagnosis based on the symptoms. A gastric or stomach emptying test is presently the best method of making the diagnosis. In this test, a food, such as scrambled eggs, is labeled with a marker, which can be seen by a scanner. Following ingestion, the scanner tracks the time it takes for the food to leave the stomach. In general, half the stomach contents should leave within about 90 minutes. A final test is the electrogastrogram (EGG). This test, like the EKG on the heart, measures the electrical waves that normally sweep over the stomach and precede each contraction. • 9. Political Irrectness In The Play Oleanna Picture someone patting someone on the back in the spirit of reassurance, now picture the recipient and notice that they see an opportunity to exploit a system in order to beat a dead horse. Thesis: The overall structure of political correctness is flawed, it does things such as create room to exploit language on a legal level, demean and create a useless pressure to be mindful of one s words. Not to say however that one should be rude. These reasons are why one could argue that the PC movement does more harm than good. The play Oleanna highlights how political correctness can be used and exploited to forward a personal opinion. Oleanna, a play written by David Mamet, is widely renowned for its unique style and appeal. Most of all, however, it is the story within that appeals to most people. In this play, a character known as Carol is shown at first as a student seeking help. Later on in the play, however, it is revealed that her appearance in the office of John, a college professor, had many ulterior motives. Over the course of the play, she takes advantage of politically correct language, using it to thrash John with increasing intensity. Carol eventually goes to attack John for referring to the tenure committee as good men . To refer to the committee as Good Men and True, it is a demeaning remark. It is a sexist remark, and to overlook it is to countenance continuation of that method of thought (Mamet 32). This use of Political Correctness is clearly not the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In his role as Nanabush the trickster, a central figure in Chippewa (Ojibwa) storytelling, Nanapush demonstrates the power of Native American humor in his own life, when he challenges the gods and cheats death by playing a trick on them: During the year of the sickness, when I was the last one left, I saved myself by starting a story . . . . • 13. Application Of The Gauss Newton Method As a final example of the application of the Gauss Newton method, we attempted to find the best fit for a set of data with a sinusoidal function. This example illustrates how the Gauss Newton method can applied to functions with more that just two variables, and that it can be applied to an equation of any form. In it, will attempt to model temperature data with a sinusoidal function. Below is a chart of the average high temperatures per month of the city of Monroe Louisiana (courtesy of weather.com). Month Temperature (Fahrenheit) January 56 February 60 March 69 April 77 May 84 June 90 July 94 August 94 September 88 October 79 November 68 December 58 As can be seen by the chart, this data appears to take the form of a sinusoidal function. Therefore, we will try to fit it with the general form of this function, shown below: y(t)=A∗sin(w∗t+phi )+C A is the amplitude, w is the frequency, t is time, phi is the phase and C is a constant. Given this equation there are four unknowns that must be found. In the code, these four variables are represented by the column vector a and are returned in the column vector w. As always, the code requires that we first solve, analytically, for the partial derivatives required for the Jacobian. In this example, the function to be minimized, r, is given by: rk=qk−(a1∗sin(a2∗pk+a3)+a4) where rk is the residual at the particular temperature value, qk is the measured temperature and pk is the month, represented in the code as January = 1, February ... This performance is one of the most fascinating plays by Shakespeare. It was a royal entertainment made to praise King James I. This enchanting play has many themes throughout the story. Fate vs. Free will is one of the many points faced in the theater piece. While Macbeth had the ability to ignore the prophecy, he chose to kill the king. In return, he became the ruler and suffered the same fate as his victim. Since the prophecies of the witches came true, Macbeth chose to murder those who learned of his skull doggery, and Macbeth was forced to kill them. Furthermore, fate is the events that are predetermined. In this play, Macbeth murders King Duncan and he later encounters his own death. (Cain, Murderous Thinking In Macbeth pg. 255 263). observes, We know that Macbeth must be killed even as, at the end, we may find ourselves hoping that this murderer will escape the death he deserves. Some of them used to walk for milieus just to fetch water for themselves and their families. In some places where the supply of water is enough, it is found most of the time the water is polluted with virus and bacteria which can form deadly diseases. Not only in the undeveloped countries but also in developing countries water sources are polluted sometimes. And there s another group that lacks access to abundant, safe, clean drinking water: astronauts. As astronauts have to take things what they need and they have to reuse and recycle every dewdrop of water. On the International Space Station, where U.S. Astronaut Scott Kelly recently spent a year in orbit, specialized technology developed by NASA collects every bit of moisture, including sweat and urine, and turns it into drinkable water Filtration is the only solution. As all filters are not equal depending on the expenditure some of them can only drain out dirt and low level bacteria which are harmful mostly for young children s as the water used to carry a dangerous virus. Luckily the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) scientists come forward with their best water filtering technology. In 2000, Florida based Argon ide was working with nanomaterials and discovered its Nanoceramic fibers had properties that made them excellent as water filters. The main benefit to the nanofibers was their unusually strong bio adhesively meaning particles, including viruses and bacteria, were easily attracted to the fibers. When water passed through a filter woven of the fibers, these particles flocked to the fibers and got stuck there, leaving virus and bacteria free water on the other side. NASA rewarded the company. The Nanoceramic fibers produce an electropositive charge when water flows through them. Many impurities carry a slight negative charge and are absorbed by the filter, explained Tom Smokoff, founder of Water Pure Technologies. Incubation has been widely studied to understand performance, such as in problem solving, enhancing creativity, or its association with unconscious processing. Many studies have found supporting evidence for incubation as a facilitating mechanism for problem solving. Smith and Blankenship (1991) found reliable results and good internal validity when they found improved performance on the Remote Associates Tasks (RAT) due to incubation effects. Their five experiments on the RAT showed that incubation effects were only effective after fixation, which was a mechanism that prevented the subject ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ritter and Dijksterhuis (2014) found that unconscious processing during a period of incubation can positively influence creativity. They argued that it is not only the lack of conscious processing during an incubation period, but rather the presence of unconscious thoughts that heavily influence an individual s level of creativity (Ritter Dijksterhuis, 2014). Gilhooly, Georgiou, Garrison, Reston, and Sirota (2012) found that immediate incubation periods facilitated in creative tasks, such as the Alternative Uses Task (AUT), through unconscious processes. They suggested that delayed incubation periods can be interfered by conscious processing before the incubation period had initiated, where forgetfulness and unconscious processing are both occurring (Gilhooly et al., 2012). In contrast, an immediate incubation period where only unconscious processing takes place and subsequently followed by conscious problem solving post incubation, is more effective for creativity (Gilhooly et al., 2012). Despite the supporting evidence, studies, such as Segal (2004), concluded that his findings did not support the evidence of unconscious processing reported in the current literature. Rather, his results supported his returning act hypothesis that incubation served as a diversion to rearrange possible accurate assumptions when the participants returned to the target task (Segal, 2004). Hence, this notion of mental rearranging involves conscious processing rather than unconscious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Latinos, Politics, and American Cinema Essay Latinos, Politics, and American Cinema Feature films in the United States influence American viewers attitudes on a wide variety of topics. Americans attitudes toward politics are shaped by films, and specifically the politics of racial interaction. The history of modern feature films begins with Birth of a Nation (1915), a film that misrepresents the Black race by justifying the existence and role of the Ku Klux Klan in American society. From this racist precedent, producers and directors understood that visual messages, however latent, were a useful means of communicating a political message to a large audience. After this epiphany, a myriad of films were made for different political causes. Most films had multiple messages, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stam states that this discourse is beside the point because it is impossible to make a realistic film. The fact that film watching is an escapist endeavor cannot be denied, but the problem lies in the fact that modern Western society has to see it to believe it, and subsequently viewers associate films with a sense of the real. Stam is right in saying that a realistic film cannot be made, but he ignores the fact that the stereotypes he dismisses had very real political messages in the Welles era. The presence of these racial and political messages in films cannot be denied because to a large extent they account for the racist attitudes against Latinos that persist today in White mainstream America. Later in film s history, the Chicano resistance movement sought to change the overall racist views that, by the 1970 s had been embedded in the American psyche. The conservative stereotypes of violent, sex crazed Latinos had a negative impact on the race s treatment, so Luis Valdez and his cohorts presented a liberal brand of politics to counter this racism, using films that embraced the true Chicano cultural identity. The history of film is essentially one of representation of certain groups, or as the case may be, misrepresentation. After America s short stint with Nickelodeon type movie theatres, full length feature films became the norm with Birth of a Nation (1915). D.W. The Phillies are one of the League s oldest teams dating back all the way to the year 1883. Over the years the Phillies have acquired many accolades and accomplishments; although the Phillies are a decorated team for many positive reasons they have also become the league s most losing team, with over 10,000 losses. Although the Philadelphia franchise may have the most losses in any professional sport, whether it is football, basketball, or soccer, they have had many playoff runs and even a few World Series appearances. Throughout the winning and the losing seasons the Phillies have had some very good players, which went on to be a Hall of Famers, while many of the players were mediocre at best. Although not all of the players that played in Philadelphia were good, they had heart and drive to not let the rambunctious fans in Philadelphia not get the best of them. The movie depicted a future where many humans might perceive is real, is actually a simulated reality. The Wachowski brothers made many explicit references in their film based on the work of French sociologist Jean Baudrillard. In Jean Baudrillard s essay entitled Simulacra and Simulations he mentions in his essay how society has replaced all reality and meaning with representation of symbols and signs. He tells Neo Welcome to the desert of the real, desert of the real is a quote from Baudrillard s essay that explains after the simulation has been taken away, we are left with our real reality, the reality that is decaying, leaving us with not much left. The reality itself erodes to the point that it becomes a desert (Sparknotes). In this scene they are in a simulated reality with nothing but a blank, white room, with a sofa, and a television set. Morpheus has New York, as they perceive it, in the year of 1999 displayed on the television. It is shown as a busy, bright, a vibrant city. Then he switches the channel to how the world really is today, the year closer to 2199. How the world really is in the year 2199 is nothing but a depressing, broken down, apocalyptic wasteland (The Film Journal). It would seem that the Wachowski brother s aim to illustrate Baudrillard s concept in The Matrix was well put together. They made it very clear that their portayal of The Matrix is a simulation that derived from a real reality that is no longer rational. In otherwords, now that Neo has awoken to the truth, he could no longer go back to what he thought is real and see it the same as before. • 34. Design And Design Of Design Essay Design and build is a generic term describing a procurement route in which the main contractor is appointed to design and construct the works, as opposed to a traditional contract, where theclient appoints consultants to design the development and then a contractor is appointed to construct the works. Design and build can appeal to clients as it gives a single point of responsibility for delivering the entire project. Some clients however consider it is only appropriate for simple projects, wheredesign quality is not the main consideration. The contractor can either be appointed to carry out all of the design work, or if the client wishes to have greater influence over the design, a concept design and outline (or performance)specification can be prepared by a consultants employed by the client, and then the contractor is appointed to complete the design and carry out the construction. The contractor may use their own in house designers to design the building, or they can appoint consultant designers, or the client s designers can be employed by the contractor to complete the design (either by novation or consultant switch). If the contractor is appointed at the outset of the project (so that they can contribute to the development of the design from the beginning), they may be appointed through a two stage process. • 38. Music And Censorship In Rock And Roll Music Censorship has long been an issue in Rock and Roll music. Although our American society celebrates classic rock that emerged in the 60 s and 70 s, today, artists such as: The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Doors, The Sex Pistols, and Bob Dylan were harshly judged for their music and image they projected because some members of society feared they were too suggestive, or just completely inappropriate. These rebellious artists fought against their music being censored in the best ways for their bands. The Rolling Stones was one of the first bands of the 60 s to have their song (I Can t Get No) Satisfaction banned from the radio due to the fact that some could consider it indecent (Rutledge Borger, 2012). The Stones music was enjoyed by many, but the lyrics had the potential to spark controversy, especially during live performances. Producers and planners of live performances were more conservative and cautious of keeping television clean and suitable for all ages, and would go to great lengths to make sure that all was kept modest.
