U.S. s Influence on British Cinema Culture Between 1930 and 1980
Britain and America have always had a very close relationship that could have stemmed from a
number of different things. The English discovered America, they both speak the same language
and the fact that America helped Britain in the first World War may have played an important part
in why the two countries are so close. Due to this close bond or the special relationship between the
countries, over time we have influenced each other endlessly but perhaps none more so than the
influence that America has had over British cinema between the 1930 s and 1980 s.

More British film companies emerged after this act was passed to ensure that they could meet the
requirements. Two companies in particular, British International Picture and Gaumont Picture
Company emerged shortly afterwards to help provide the required number of British films. As
these British films had to be produced by a British film company, some of them were of low
quality because they did not have funding from America. British films therefore gained a reputation
for being of low quality and generally poor.
However this changed leading up to and during the second World War when people increasingly
went to the cinema to keep spirits high whilst everywhere else there was devastation. The war
became the golden age in British cinema despite cinemas being closed at first but reopening as a
means of escape from life at the time. The types of film that were shown ranged from comedies to
thrillers such as Alfred Hitchcock s The Thirty Nine Steps. It was during this time that the
government realised how much money could be made in the film industry and began to put more
money towards making and producing films. There were also a great deal of American films at
this time but this was to change after the war. Britain put a tax on all American films to

Introduction: John Lopez, president of Meridian Water Pumps a little water pump maker was
holding a meeting with the department managers. They were currently arranging the creation of
medium sized pumps for the following 6 months. Mr. Lopez endured a portion of the contending
before he felt it important to stop the dialog as it was going so that he could guide it toward an
answer and a meeting of the key players would be fit for pushing ahead with dissolving their

procedures that would develop the strategic plan. Analysis: In this particular case describes what

Addiction To Drug And Drug Addiction During The Holidays
For many people the holiday season is a time of celebration. However people who are struggling
with an addiction to drug or alcohol often find that the holidays are a depressing time that s filled
with denial and secrecy. People with an addiction have trouble often have trouble enjoying
themselves when the holidays arrive and they feel ashamed of their addictionso they work to hide it
from their family and friends. It s not a very happy holiday season.
It tends to be difficult for people to admit that they have a problem. Even when someone realizes
that they struggle with addiction, it can be overwhelming and frightening to take the step necessary
to make a change and overcome the addiction. As a result, many people simply maintain the status
quo, even if it makes them and their loved ones unhappy.
For people who are ready to take the next step and move forward with getting treatment for their
addiction, it can be tempting to wait until after the holidays to begin treatment. Many people tell
themselves that the holidays are meant to be fun and spend with loved ones at home, not at a drug
and alcohol treatment center. Besides, they tell themselves that going to rehab can be their News
Year s resolution after the holidays. However, the team at HARP can think of many reasons why
people should actually consider going to rehab around or during the holidays.
To show you that is it a good idea to enter a treatment program for a drug or alcohol addiction

The Hidden Life Of Garbage Analysis

Nowadays, Americans use technology to obtain information, because it s easier than knowing the
material. This has become a huge distraction and it s making people rely on technology way
more than is needed, especially the young people. For example, they use Google to search things
like homework, essays, speeches, etc. They do this as a shortcut to getting their work done
faster because they can find what they are looking for in a matter of seconds, instead of actually
doing the work by themselves and it s leading to an intellectually impoverished society. In the
article, Is Google Making Us Stupid, the author believes that Google is used by most people to
find information by just typing in a couple of words; however, those people don t learn the
information or value knowledge (Carr). This wouldn t be a problem for the people if they lived
a tech free life because without technology there is no reliance on it. Also if they lived a tech
free life, they wouldn t have to worry about getting spied on. Technology, such as phones, is used
to spy on people because the government and big companies like to keep track of their every
move. In, That s no phone. That s my tracker, the author stated cellphone carriers respond to law
enforcement s request for call data, internet use, GPS, etc. In 2011, they responded 1.3 million

Podiatrist Personal Statement
I was just two weeks into my internal medicine rotation at Suez Canal University in Egypt, when I
encountered a case that I still remember to this day. Ms. Rafat was an elderly diabetic patient that
came into our clinic complaining of a persistent wound on the sole of her foot. Upon removing her
boots, her complaint turned out to be a footulcer with an infection extending to the first and second
metatarsal bones .Unfortunately for her, we had to break the news to her and her family that her
foot would need amputation. Ms. Rafat was understandably upset but took the news in stride.
Following up on her case, I learned that after the surgery, the blood flow to her leg became
increasingly poor and she had to return to have a below the knee amputation. Ms. Rafat ended up
dying of pulmonary embolism as a complication of her second surgery. This case stayed with me
not only because it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Malcolm pointed out that if the Africans were to achieve Black Nationalism, it would require
them to have some land of their own. Malcolm X pointed out that there was no need for the Black
Africans to remain complacent that they had a county of their own. He insisted that the United
States was not their country and he himself, though legally an American could not in fact call
himself one. He argued that all the white immigrants and refugees whenever they arrived into the
United States of America became more of Americans at their point of arrival than they Negros

for a national legislation to agree that a black American is indeed an American citizen. the road to
Black Nationalism requires them to get some land of their own. Two alternatives present
themselves in this regard: separating themselves from the rest of the American population and
getting some portion of the country as their own or retreating back to Africa. In his view, it looked
obvious that the county would not allow them to leave America as an entire race to Africa. The
county would not allow them to pursue that option, but they could come together and occupy some
part of the county where they would treat each other equally and justly. The land they acquire

Evolution of the European Council
Introduction
To fully appreciate the position of the European Council within the European Union we first took
a brief look at how the European Union came about. The European project first started soon after
the second world with the creation of the ECSC (European Coal and Steel Community) to
harmonise relations between the Nations of Europe and to prevent any further conflicts of the
scale of the wars that had preceded its creation. The new spirit of cooperation aimed to bring about
a new era of peace and prosperity across Europe. The founding nations were Belgium, France,
Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Luxemburg. The first enlargement came in 1973 when Ireland,
Denmark and the United Kingdom joined the EU. Since then a further 18 ... Show more content on

Step 4 came in the shape of the Amsterdam Treaty which reaffirmed the powers and responsibilities
given to the Council within the Maastricht Treaty. It then extended these powers and
responsibilities with regards to the EMU and CFSP.
The Nice Treaty was step 5 wherein it gave the Council the power to nominate the person to be put
forward for the position of President of the European Commission.
The final and sixth step came in the form of the Lisbon Treaty when the European Council was
established as a fully fledged institution of the European Union. The Lisbon Treaty stated The
European Council consists of the Heads of State and Government of the Member States and is an
official institution of the Union (Article I 21) (Europa.eu, 2012). This treaty changed the structure
of membership of the European Council. Before the Lisbon treaty the membership was a two tiered
system. The first tier consisted of the heads of state or government of the member states and the
president of the commission. The second tier consisted of the foreign ministers of each member
state and one other member of the commission. Before the Lisbon treaty only two members per
delegation were permitted to attend meetings of the council. This was to promote a more relaxed
and informal atmosphere than that in council of ministers. Since the Lisbon treaty there is just one
tier of membership consisting of heads of state, the European

Essay on Acoustic Waves in Physics
Acoustic Waves in Physics
An acoustic wave can simply be described as a longitudinal wave. A longitudinal wave is a wave
that vibrates and moves in the direction of its propagation. This means the medium is either in the
same or opposite direction of the way the wave travels. Acoustic waves are a form of Mechanical
longitudinal waves; these waves are otherwise known as compression waves or compressional
waves. Compressional waves obviously produce compression, decompression, and rarefaction to
travel. In Physics, the acoustic wave has an equation to describe the evolution of acoustic pressure
and particle velocity as a function. The general equation is:

The molecules seem to move when something pushes them and forces the molecules to bump into
each other. This process makes the compression and rare factor that I have talked about before.
Acoustic waves are an isolation of pressure that travel in a wave pattern. Acoustic waves cause a
vibration that leads to your ear that allows us to hear. These acoustic waves are defined by three
different characteristics. These characteristics are amplitude, frequency and wave length. Amplitude
is the energy in a wave. The amplitude affects its volume or sound. The number of waves that pass
a point at each second, the higher the frequency, the higher the pitch compared to those who have
low frequencies. You can describe these waves as the waves that allow humans and other species
to hear. There is not different types of acoustic waves. The acoustic wave is a longitudinal
compressional wave. [8] There are no other kind of acoustic waves, sometimes they have different
equations but that is because some are higher and or stronger than others.
Acoustic waves in fact can be reflected. It is said that the waves can possibly exhibit different sorts
of phenomena. Diffraction, interference and reflection are all examples of phenomena the wave
can go through. This brings to topic an important difference between acoustic waves and sound
waves. Without acoustic waves it would be

French Notes
The French imperfect (imparfait) is a descriptive past tense which indicates an ongoing state of

My Memories A Favorite Memory
An individual s childhood memory has impacted them in some way whether it be emotionally or
physically. From one memory to another, good or bad, develops the entity of a person s
personality or logic. I considered one of my worst memories a favorite memory because, from that
experience, I gained development as an individual. The start of that development occurred on
vacation without my parents attending. Like any other child, I became very enthusiastic of the
whole idea of freedom and self guidance. After the majority of the trip, I became uninterested with
self guidance and I wanted to rely on the adults to plan fun filled activities. I was very
disappointed with the fact that their lack of authority and action lead to an uneventful vacation.
I began to miss my parents guidance because with every request or action they took it was in all
the best interest of me. Whether it was to hold my hand across the road or watch the things I eat,
all of it was intended for my growth and safety. It was then that I realized how much my parents
really cared for me and it made me grow to respect their wishes even more. Concisely what began
as a getaway from my parents resulted in a realization of how much I should appreciate and respect
them.

Interactions Although the use of sea buckthorn has no established interactions as a food form,
suppository, or with topical application, it is possible that unknown interactions exist. When taken
internally as an oil or oil capsule, interactions with sea buckthorn have been noted. These
interactions have been observed with certain herbs and dietary supplements, drugs, and some
diseases or conditions.
Interactions with Herbs and Dietary Supplements Sea buckthorn oil can decrease platelet

Interactions with Drugs When taken with aspirin, anticoagulants (Warfarin, Heparin, Lovenox),
antiplatelet drugs (Plavix), and NSAIDS (Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Naprosyn, Aleve), the additive
effects of sea buckthorn demonstrates a moderately high risk for bleeding. Additionally, the use of
sea buckthorn combined with antihypertensive drugs such as Capoten, Vasotec, Cozaar, Cardizem,
and Lasix may increase the effect of these drugs, dangerously lowering blood pressure. Extreme
caution should be exercised with concomitant use of either combination and a physician should be
consulted. Individuals taking drugs for diabetes by mouth or insulin, should exercise caution when
using sea buckthorn. Sea buckthorn is known to lower blood sugar levels and medication
adjustments may be necessary. Sea buckthorn oil should also be used cautiously with antiulcer
medications due to possible additive effects. Furthermore, it may significantly reduce the effect of
immunosuppressant drugs and antibiotics. Sea buckthorn may also prove an additive effect on
chemotherapy drugs based on concomitant use.

Child Physical Abuse
Physical. Emotional. Sexual. Neglect. Four types of abuse that a child should NEVER have to

abuse. After exploring the types of abuse, you will learn about the unfortunate effects abuse has on
children (both short term and long term). The statistics of child abusein the county in which we live
is devastating. Information on how to report abuse in Greene County will be provided. That, along
with facilities in our local area equipped to help both the abusers and the abused. Let s begin.

I found, through further research, that sexual abuse includes more than bodily contact. Which
means, having a child view pornographic material is considered sexual abuse. A HelpGuide.Org
article, Child Abuse and Neglect, explained that sexual abuse victims feel guilty and shameful for
the abuse they have endured. Can you believe that? They are made to feel as though their word
versus the abuser s word means nothing. I have often heard that men/women that sexually abuse
children are most often a family member or friend of the family. Think about that for a minute.
How are children supposed to process what is happening to them by this trusted adult they have
known (probably) most of their lives? According to eSchoolToday, children who are abused
sexually tend to show some physical symptoms (hiding, STDs, and genital pain), health symptoms
(anorexia, bowel disorders, and repeated headaches/stomach aches), and behavioral symptoms
(substance abuse, withdraw, and decreased school performance/participation). Again, the long term
effects of this type of abuse mimic the other two mentioned thus far. Melissa and Joshua Hall,
however, provided some additional effects in their article entitled, The Long Term Effects of
Childhood Sexual Abuse: Counseling Implications. The article reiterated that stress and anxiety
play a role long term. They also explained how former children of sexual abuse tend to act one of
two ways about sexual activity in their teen and/or adult years. They either overindulge...OR...act
completely uninterested. Again, every child will respond differently to abusive situations. Trying
to cope with the debilitating effects of abuse will be discussed in the pages to come, but neglect
needs to be addressed

When the credits start to roll there is noise of rocks being smashed. The slave songs are heard
before the audience can see the picture. The slaves are singing the blues. (Blues are songs that
are full of sorrow) This could be effective because the audience could grasp even before the
picture emerged that the people who were singing were made to do hard labour. The picture then
merges in to show a black and white long shot of a landscape. The camera pans rounds and the
audience see a shot of two lines of prisoners doing hard labour, then a low angle shot shows them
chained together. This could explain to the audience why none of the prisoners are trying escape.
When the audience has seen the prisoners the camera goes into a wide angle shot and shows
three men running across a field and then jumping down. This can be quite comical as they are
being very obvious and could easily be seen but never do. There is a non diegetic sound, which
is used at the start when they are escaping. This is Bluegrass or country and western music. The

and to maintain customer loyalty from both existing and prospective customers. Thus, discussions
on the interrelationships between service quality, corporate image, and the mechanism by which
they jointly influence customer loyalty can be of major interest to hospitality firms and researchers.
Thus, this study finding will further the knowledge in the hospitality literature.
The aim of this article is to understand the influence of hotel service quality and corporate image on
tourism customer loyalty. Data were collected from tourists at several sight seeing locations in
Mauritius. The study sample comprised guests of various hotels in Mauritius who were randomly
approached and invited to participate in a survey on the hotel s services.

Service Quality
Service quality is generally viewed as an overall evaluation of the service provided (Taylor Baker,
1994). It has also been viewed as a multidimensional construct formed from the consumer).
Moreover, empirical studies indicate that consistently providing high quality service may help
hospitality firms increase their number of brand loyal customers (Backs Parks, 2003). It is evident
that for the long term success of hospitality firms, customer loyalty is significantly more important

It is the world s second largest automaker behind General Motors. However it ranks first in net

Whether it is a formal strategic plan or simply a plan to make the end of the quarter numbers, as
company leaders you think about the future. In future plans, we need to think about the training
necessary to make those numbers or reach those goals. Without the proper skills, the goals we set
for our employees can be difficult to achieve.
For example, a pilot who has never had any training about how to operate a plane. His plane would

machinery without the proper training and skills required to meet expectations.
Training and Cross Training at Toyota
Without these skills, Toyota will not be able to continue to achieve the productivity gains made
over the past 10 years. Over the past 30 years, Toyota has taught manufacturers the importance of
employee training and company wide cross training. The basis for the Toyota philosophy, and thus
its success, is training everyone and cross training everyone.
Some companies have learned the importance of training. For example, MassMEP clients receive a

2.A process for problem solving,
3.Adding value to the organization by developing its people, and

Rudy Giuliani Critical Event
Another critical event/challenge that affected Giuliani was his campaign for New York State
Senate. In 1999, the mayors second term was about to end so he decided to run for the Senate. He
was running against the current First Lady at the time, Hillary Clinton. His campaign for Senate
was going well until he found out he had prostate cancer. On May 19th, 2000, Giuliani announced
he was going to withdrawal from the race to focus on his health. This was one of the first major
setbacks Giuliani went through during his time in office. Rudy Giulianiwas known for being a great
mayor, but not a great man , which was evident in his personal life. Giuliani had a girlfriend

was a normal day for Giuliani, he woke up, read the news, drank his coffee, and went for his
morning meetings. The deputy mayor of operations, Joe Lhota, was working at his desk when
he heard a loud explosion. He saw that a plane had hit the World Trade Center, and he called a
member of Giuliani s council to inform him. As he was driving to the scene his first thoughts
were how could this happen? Airplanes don t hit the World Trade Center. When he arrived on the
scene, he saw people jumping from the top of the building to avoid being burned alive. He
wanted the police and the fire commissioners on the same page and by the time the fire
commissioner got to the command center he said I m probably alive because I went to meet the

Cisco Systems Case Study Essay
Cisco Systems (2001): Building and Sustaining a Customer Centric Culture
Introduction/General Problem Statement:
Doug Allred was Vice President of Customer Advocacy organization of the Cisco s corporation.
This organization was erected to consolidated all functions that directly touched the customer but
sales to provide high quality customer service. Since August 2001, the IT market turned down and
brought severe challenges to Cisco as the company had to lay off 18% of its employees and
reorganized its structure, transforming from decentralized organizational structure with three
business units to centralized organization. However, these changes stabilized the volatile situation
of the economy but threatened Cisco s customer focus, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Even though Cisco created the Customer Focus Initiative to try to serve leader customers better, as
the SVP of Customer Advocacy, Allred still felt anxious that this reorganization would reduce the
customers loyalty. He was also afraid that since the products were high priced, customers would
ignore the longtime relationship and turn to Cisco s competitors. Therefore, adjusting the existing
culture to adapt to the new structure became the fundamental issue of Allred. Alternative Solutions:
In such a situation, since the bad economic environment, it is not possible to keep the original
structure to fit its culture. One possible method to solve this problem is to collect continuous
customers feedback and to subdivide the feedback by different departments. The culture of Cisco
is to keep paying attention to the customers, no matter the amount of resource. But the new
structure made the whole resources of the company useless to satisfy customers. Thus, a good
way to know what customers need is to collect the feedback from them. In the article How to
Change a Culture: Lessons from NUMMI, the author told us that those of us trying to change our
organizations culture need to define the things we want to do, the ways we want to behave .iv By
collecting the feedback of customers, each Cisco s employee could be clarified of what they need
to do to satisfy the customers.
To make the feedback effective, Cisco should pay

Figurative Language In The Bell Jar
Human Isolation
As the author of the book The Bell Jar, Sylvia Plath s writing can be associated with her real life
struggles. Living as a woman in the 50 s, Sylvia s realities helped her paint a truthful picture of
what it was like to be a woman with depression during this time. Although her openness to express
her real life struggle through text was remarkable, this topic of mental health and depression was
unheard of at the time. Esther Greenwood, the main focus throughout The Bell Jar, resembled the
life of Plath for her unsteady and rebellious characteristics that often break the social conceptions
of what it meant to be a woman with depression. On page 96, Esther stands on top of a mountain
with a colorful stream of consciousness that is detailed and fervent as she considers skiing down
the mountain. Plath uses imagery and figurative language to convey her feelings of being out of
control and absolutely isolated, revealing how women during this time period were forced to keep
their true thoughts and emotions to themselves regardless of their mental condition. In this
passage, Plath describes Buddy using two different similes, showing how Esther s last resort
disappears in front of her, leaving her completely alone. As she stands atop the mountain, it seems
as if her vision becomes progressively blurred. As the other skiers around her become invisible, she
noticed the actions Buddy takes in order to grab her attention. His arms

When these glands get damaged which can happen in numerous ways like, for example the

Hypothyroidism, 2010). Hypothyroidism is a medical condition where the thyroid gland does
not produce enough thyroid hormones. When this happens it affects your metabolism by
slowing the process down, and when you metabolism is slow you are extremely likely to gain
weight (Pick, 2005). Unlike Hypothyroidism, the next disease causes obesity in a completely
different way. The next condition that contributes to obesity is Cushing s disease. While this
disease may not be quite as common as hypothyroidism, it still manages to affect around fifteen
million people each year. Cushing s disease is a condition where the body is exposed to a high
amount of cortisol. This syndrome can be caused in two ways. The first way this is that the
body itself produces too much cortisol ( Cushing s Syndrome, n.d). The second way is when a
person takes a corticosteroid medication (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2010). During both ways, the
excessive cortisol causes the body to shift energy in the form of fat ( Cushing s Segment, 2010).
The disease causes weight gain in the upper body, especially in the face and abdomen regions.

Persuasive Essay On Fire Vivals
It s the New Year season again and fireworks displays are everywhere. BBC reported that some
10,000 fireworks lit up the sky around the London Eye, welcoming 2018. Fireworks displays are,
perhaps inarguably, a beautiful way to light up the skies in anticipation for the new year but for
birds, it s nothing short of a terror attack.
Forbes contributor GrrlScientist wrote in 2015 about how panic stricken birds reached altitudes of
500 meters, flying en masse as they flee from the flashing lights and crashing explosions of
fireworks.
Judy Shamoun Baranes, a researcher on the en masse fleeing of birds due to New Years Eve
fireworks, compared the panic stricken birds flight altitudes to those observed from migrating birds.
Like humans, birds cannot see very well in the dark, GrrlScientist wrote. [Panicked] wild birds will
crash into power lines, automobiles, buildings, trees, and even each other, especially on cloudy or
moonless nights.
Comparing it to humans in a stampede, GrrlScientist reported that mid air bird collisions can result
in serious injuries or death because they would fall from the sky upon impact, rendering an
otherwise survivable injury into death.
In the 2011 New Year s Eve, more than 5,000 red winged blackbirds rained down on Beebe,
Arkansas. The New York Times reported that preliminary lab results from the Arkansas Livestock

How Judaism and Christianity Diverged
The origins of Christianity can be originated in Judaism and for that reason it is no surprise that
both religions have many beliefs in common. During the earliest beginnings, Christianity was a part
of Judaism, but currently they are two distinct communities. However, they are bound together by
their belief in one God and to worship any other is to deny Him. The separation between both
religions did not happen fast or easy. The entire division took some hundred years and the very
complex separation didn t happen all at once. Christianitybegan with JesusChrist and his disciples

One day, someone, somewhere decided tap water wasn t enough; so they put it in a bottle. Most

Plastic bottles are one of the most common litter issues. Plastic bottles litter the land and waters
of Earth. More than half a billion bottles of water are purchased in the U.S. every week, this is
enough to circle the globe five times. Oil is used to make plastic bottles and ship them across the
world. Enough oil is used making plastic bottles each year to fuel one million cars. Then, eighty
percent of the bottles end up in landfills where they sit for thousands of years. Some of the bottles
we think are being recycled are actually just being shipped to other countries and thrown in their

Lots of feelings between Hermia, Lysander, Helena and Demetrius are not mutual and are only a

hardships and complications of true love and how it does not always go as perfect as planned.
Many problems arise because of the mixups between the love juice and the fairies. One such
mixup is when Hermia and Lysander s plans to elope are very suddenly halted when Helena
hears of their plans and tells Demetrius, who decides to see if Helena s rumors are true.
Demetrius then goes into the woods, followed by Helena, to see if it is true, but does not find

Essay On The Huron First Nations
The Huron first Nation in Canada
The Huron were Iroquois tribes who lived in the area around Georgian Bay. They were first nation

central Ontario between the southern end of Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe. After the dispersal of
the Huron by the Iroquois in 1650, one group relocated to Lorette (just north of Quebec) where it
has remained. The population of Huron in 1535 probably numbered somewhere between 30,000
and 45,000. The French estimates of the four core tribes of the Huron Confederacy in 1615
varied from 20,000 to 30,000 and 16 to 25 villages. After European contact, the Huron population
loss was dramatic. By 1640 epidemic and war had reduced them to less than 10,000. After their
dispersal in 1649 by the Iroquois only 300 Huron were able to relocate safely at Lorette near

The English discovered America, they both speak the same language and the fact that America helped Britain in the first World War may have played an important part in why the two countries are so close. Due to this close bond or the special relationship between the countries, over time we have influenced each other endlessly but perhaps none more so than the influence that America has had over British cinema between the 1930 s and 1980 s. A longitudinal wave is a wave that vibrates and moves in the direction of its propagation. This means the medium is either in the same or opposite direction of the way the wave travels. Acoustic waves are a form of Mechanical longitudinal waves; these waves are otherwise known as compression waves or compressional waves. The start of that development occurred on vacation without my parents attending. Like any other child, I became very enthusiastic of the whole idea of freedom and self guidance. After the majority of the trip, I became uninterested with self guidance and I wanted to rely on the adults to plan fun filled activities. They are made to feel as though their word versus the abuser s word means nothing. I have often heard that men/women that sexually abuse children are most often a family member or friend of the family. Think about that for a minute. How are children supposed to process what is happening to them by this trusted adult they have known (probably) most of their lives? According to eSchoolToday, children who are abused sexually tend to show some physical symptoms (hiding, STDs, and genital pain), health symptoms (anorexia, bowel disorders, and repeated headaches/stomach aches), and behavioral symptoms (substance abuse, withdraw, and decreased school performance/participation). Therefore, adjusting the existing culture to adapt to the new structure became the fundamental issue of Allred. Alternative Solutions: In such a situation, since the bad economic environment, it is not possible to keep the original structure to fit its culture. One possible method to solve this problem is to collect continuous customers feedback and to subdivide the feedback by different departments. The culture of Cisco is to keep paying attention to the customers, no matter the amount of resource. But the new structure made the whole resources of the company useless to satisfy customers. Living as a woman in the 50 s, Sylvia s realities helped her paint a truthful picture of what it was like to be a woman with depression during this time. Although her openness to express her real life struggle through text was remarkable, this topic of mental health and depression was unheard of at the time. Esther Greenwood, the main focus throughout The Bell Jar, resembled the life of Plath for her unsteady and rebellious characteristics that often break the social conceptions of what it meant to be a woman with depression. On page 96, Esther stands on top of a mountain with a colorful stream of consciousness that is detailed and fervent as she considers skiing down the mountain. Plath uses imagery and figurative language to convey her feelings of being out of control and absolutely isolated, revealing how women during this time period were forced to keep their true thoughts and emotions to themselves regardless of their mental condition. In this passage, Plath describes Buddy using two different similes, showing how Esther s last resort disappears in front of her, leaving her completely alone. As she stands atop the mountain, it seems as if her vision becomes progressively blurred. BBC reported that some 10,000 fireworks lit up the sky around the London Eye, welcoming 2018. Fireworks displays are, perhaps inarguably, a beautiful way to light up the skies in anticipation for the new year but for birds, it s nothing short of a terror attack. Forbes contributor GrrlScientist wrote in 2015 about how panic stricken birds reached altitudes of 500 meters, flying en masse as they flee from the flashing lights and crashing explosions of fireworks. Judy Shamoun Baranes, a researcher on the en masse fleeing of birds due to New Years Eve fireworks, compared the panic stricken birds flight altitudes to those observed from migrating birds. Like humans, birds cannot see very well in the dark, GrrlScientist wrote. [Panicked] wild birds will crash into power lines, automobiles, buildings, trees, and even each other, especially on cloudy or moonless nights. Comparing it to humans in a stampede, GrrlScientist reported that mid air bird collisions can result in serious injuries or death because they would fall from the sky upon impact, rendering an otherwise survivable injury into death. In the 2011 New Year s Eve, more than 5,000 red winged blackbirds rained down on Beebe, Arkansas.
