Physical Abuse In Geriatric Patients
In today s societies older populations have been forgotten, depreciated, and severely deprived of
adequate healthcare resources, services, and funding (O Brien, 2010). Issues involving insufficient
healthcare policies, limited research, and lack of elderly abuse education has prevented geriatric
patients from receiving proper care (O Brien, 2010). With this in mind some research has shown high
rates of physical abuse and negligence towards elderly patients in the healthcare facilities (Zhang,
2011). The Adult Protective Services (APS) explains that negligence is one of the most common types
of domestic abuses reported (Zhang, 2011). As a matter of fact, reports of elderly abuse and neglect
account for 60 70% of all reports submitted to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are three essential components of healthcare that need to be revised to accommodate the elderly
population: clinical practice, policy, and research (O Brien, 2010). One solution to resolve the issues
of physical negligence in geriatric populations is to promote educational programs that are involved in
all levels of medical training and practices in order to detect and intervene when elderly abuse is
suspected or evident (O Brien, 2010). Implementing specific guidelines for elderly patient care,
creating new methods and standards of practice for documentation, and creating a patient care model
to demonstrate proper treatment of elderly patients should be a priority for the entire healthcare
community (O Brien, 2010). Healthcare professionals and legislatures should closely collaborate with
each other in order to establish transparency. By developing uniform laws and policies that clearly
state specific documentation requirements needed for elderly abuse, intervention and detection
strategies for elderly abuse, and creating similar definitions for certain terms of abuse to avoid any
confusion between local, state, or national levels of government (O Brien, 2010). Most importantly,
there should be more contributions towards

Summary Of Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant
Our solution to this ongoing problem that Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant is facing is firstly, clearly
outlining their calculations for each individual s yearly bonuses ones that should specifically be a
result of employees reaching a certain quota of production. This aids in eliminating distrust within the
company to ensure employees that the company is fairly and regularly awarding bonuses for their
individual work, which in turn will improve their productivity, according to the equity theory. Also,
since they know that their efforts will certainly lead to a reward, they will be more motivated to work,
according to the expectancy theory. In addition to this, employees who exceed the certain quotas of

The Invention Of Internet Has Changed Our World
If you were to go back 1960s and tell people how in the future you can talk to people on another
continent in matter of seconds and with little to no cost. That you can even send mail, music, photos
and even videos clips in just matter of seconds to as many people as you want. They will look at you
and will probably think you are insane, but all of these things and even more are possible due to the
internet. Many people uses the internet today, but they don t know how it works, why was it created or
who invented it? Even though everything from our banking, business, shopping, communication,
dating, entertainment, education and the most basic task are done on the internet. However one can
argue that s the best part of the internet we don t need to understand it on technology, social, and
physiological level to use it. However no one can argue that the invention of internet has changed our
world, from how we communicate, to how we work, and to how we live our lives. That the internet
was an evolutionary step not a fad, and it has become a pivotal part of our society which has led to it
to become a necessity and a vital tool for the progression of our race. Before we get into why the
internet was created and how it works, we need talk about the word internet . Often when we talk
about the internet we usually get the World Wide Web and internet mixed up but mix up is
understandable because today s internet has both of these technology intertwined that it has

A Book On The Principles Of Finding The Dream Job
We have entered the era of the new wealth, in which the meaning of what you are doing is worth more
than money, according to Roman Krznaric. He wrote a book on the principles of finding the dream
job, and highlighted the main points in it. Therefor, every individual has a unique way of interpreting
the meaning of fulfilling work. To a limited extent, the term might refer to a piece of work that can
meet all the sustainable qualities of a given task so as an individual can quickly attain the fundamental
goals that they need.
Various authors are making the statement about the topic. However, the tenacity of this essay is to
describe the book by Roman Krznaric on how an individual can find the fulfilling work. Nonetheless,
it is to provide an analysis of the specific terminologies used in the book and present suggestions on
how best a person could find a fulfilling piece of work.
Based on the various interpretations that have been made by Roman, the book is exploring on the
competition of claims that most people face for their money, the status of life, and eventually the
meaning of their lives. It is a concept that can help an individual find a type of career in which he can
thrive. On the other hand, the idea of fulfilling work in a job market is to find a job that reflects on an
individual s passion, kind of talents, and the personal values (Krznaric 57). It is often classified as a
modern invention but currently an individual s expectations are often higher than the

Essay On Vietnamese Immigration
After a bloody unpopular war that lasted nearly 20 years, one of the most unique immigration patterns
occurred from Vietnam to the United States that still prolongs today. Immigration to the United States
from the Vietnam War was a struggle, therefore America should create support programs because the
Vietnamese citizens were driven out of their war torn country. The war left the immigrants in
desperate need of therapy, and they need help adapting to their new home in America.
One of the most violent wars in history drove many of Vietnam s citizens out of the war torn
nightmare of a country. Citizens were frightened for their lives, they didn t know what would happen

After you fled your war shredded country and left your beloved belongings behind, this was the case
for the immigrants. Most likely, recovering from that would be a difficulty, so the refugees would need
some therapy, preferably offered by American support groups. War can be emotionally scarring to the
person so therapy would be helpful. There were studies on their behavior as the author said, The
purpose of this study was to examine the pre and post migration variables that predict the
psychological distress and self destructive behavior for Vietnamese Amerasians the immigrants were
quite distressed (Bernak and Chung 1). Many immigrants were still haunted by the war as in this
quote, Still haunted by the horrors of war and overwhelmed by the imminent collapse of South
Vietnam, they were also wracked over uncertainty over their future in a new land many of them were
emotionally scarred (Tran 7). Many churches over the nation encouraged immigrants to join
Vietnamese communities so they could be with more of their kind for comfort. Many of those
communities are still here today like Little Saigon in Orange County, California. Some refugees were
still having flashbacks about the war so the U.S. government recommended that they should do
volunteer hours or part time jobs so they can keep their mind off of it and so they can get some profit.
For example, some of them worked as lawn mowers and cashiers and doing so would give them a
decent amount of money to start to partially support

John F. Kennedy s Influence On The United States
The United States is known for being one of the most diverse societies in the world. It is made up of
over eight major races. One race in particular, the irish, makes up around 11% of the total
population(U.S. Census Bureau 2013). The Irish Americans have very strong roots going all the way
back to when they were forced overseas due to the potato famine in the nineteenth century. These
immigrants brought with them not only a strong heritage, but also many ancestors whose children
would play an important role in shaping many of the American ways. One person of Irish descent who
perhaps had the most significant impact on our country was John F. Kennedy. John F. Kennedy shaped

known as the Cuban Missile Crisis took place in October of 1962. An American spy plane secretly
spotted nuclear missile sites being built by the Soviet Union in Cuba. Kennedy did not want the Soviet
Union or Cuba to know that he found out about the missiles. After much thought, Kennedy decided to
place a ring of ships around Cuba. He called it a quarantine because he wanted to prevent the Soviets

was made between the two countries that the Soviets would dismantle the weapons site in exchange
for a pledge from the United States not to invade Cuba. A secret deal was made between the Nikita
and Khrushchev; the United States also agreed to remove nuclear missiles from Turkey. The Signing
of the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty took place on August 5, 1963. This treaty limited the production of

The Imf And The Crisis
The IMF and the Crisis in Greece
The IMF is one of a number of international organizations whose work is aimed at preventing
economic crisis and rebuilding economies. According to the Levin Institute, both the IMF and the
World Bank were started after WW2 in response to concerns about the stability of economic markets
around the world. While the World Bank now has a focus projects and sustainable development, the
IMF is primarily focused on fiscal policy with lending practices that are focused on crisis
management. Loans that come with significant conditions attached, including significant changes to
fiscal and monetary policy in the borrowing nation (Levin, n.d).
There are many examples of IMF projects that garnered heavy criticism in recent years. Brazil,
Argentina, Turkey, Korea, and Indonesia are a few examples, and now we can add Greece to the list.
The IMF invested in Greece in 2010 and in 2013, and have openly recognized that they misjudged the
effect austerity would have on the Greek economy (Elliot, L., Inman, P., Smith, H., 2013). They issued
a report that identified Notable failures , including failure in restoring market confidence, the banks 30
percent loss in deposits, high unemployment, waiting too long to restructure the nation s debt, and a
deepening of the recession (IMF recognizes notable failures in Greek bailout, 2013).

Romeo And Juliet Love At First Sight

memories cherish forever.
Love at first sight was a huge thing for Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare devoted parted of this story to

Important Element For Employee s Career Growth
Summary: Some multicultural characteristics that can cause individuals to sell themselves short and
lack of confidence. Women are actually more likely to express their lack of confidence. The feeling of
I don t belong here is a mental barrier that is part of the multicultural characteristics that hold people
back. Their competence and performance were never an issue. All employees want to be included in
communicating inclusiveness, multicultural employees tend to feel as though they are not included or
that their opinion is not valued. Multicultural employees are considered to be polychromic employees.
This leads managers to believe that they are not ready for a promotion and prefer to be stuck in their
comfort zone. Moving from supporting role to headliner, many diverse employees believe that in order
to advance their careers their performance must be good. Top executives also require that they have
created and developed a good organizational reputation and credibility. Getting and giving critical
feedback is an important step to advancing one career path. An important element for employee s
career growth is feedback. When an employee is not getting feedback, particularly critical feedback, it

Author Study of George Orwell George Orwell was a literary tactician who won two major awards

recognized for his portrayal of dystopian societies and how they parallel present society. Through
intense allegories, Orwell unintentionally crafted novels that are applicable to the totalitarian

The And Treatment Of The Poor Vs. The United States
An analysis of the documents pertaining to colonial Wethersfield, Connecticut (1750s 1780s) revealed
that Document N accurately characterizes the time period. The three main ideas found in Document N
are ascribed to the treatment of the poor vs. the treatment of the rich, the amount of power both
political and religious held by Congressionalists, and the presence of religion in the law. In order to
further understand the document and fully grasp these ideas, aspects of the time period had to be
examined. Two very important aspects of this period were religion and politics. Like the other
colonies, colonial Wethersfield held religion in high esteem. In examining the documents, it was easy

Documents B and C represent the distribution of taxable property (Document B) as well as the
distribution of land holdings (Document C) that took place in 1756 and 1773. In a letter written by
Silas Deane, a Wethersfield merchant and Connecticut delegate to the First Continental Congress, to
Patrick Henry, a Virginia delegate to the First Continental Congress, on January 2, 1775, Silas wrote:
[The Connecticut man s] first principle is to possess a disencumbered freehold, be it ever so small, in
preference to the largest under quit rents and landlords...for a Connecticut farmer with two hundred
and fifty or three hundred acres of good land, is a rich man, that is, as rich as he wishes to be
(Document F). In that letter, Silas Deane asked Patrick Henry to grant permission to a group of
Connecticut settlers and allow them to travel to an Ohio settlement in hopes of procuring the land. By
interpreting the above quote, it s easy to visualize the colonial belief that to own a piece of land, even
a small one, provides a greater sense of accomplishment than living on a larger property owned by
someone else. Document N originates from the General History of Connecticut, a book published by
Reverend Samuel Peters in 1781. It was notorious for the uncomplimentary ways in which the
colonists were depicted, as well as the distortion of the Connecticut Blue Laws, a term used to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of PDMS Based Microfluidic...
The earliest microfluidic devices were made mostly made from silicon since the technology for
patterning silicon wafers had already been developed by the electronics industry for its usage in
microelectronics and micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS). Silicon however has the following
disadvantages: (1) It is not optically transparent in the wavelength range used for optical detection; (2)
Its conductive properties make it unsuitable for applications that involve electro kinetic flow to
transport fluids; (3) Proteins tend to bind to silicon non selectively which rules out its application in
immunoassays [Bange et al, 2005] There has recently been a lot of interest in PDMS based
microfluidic systems due the numerous advantages it offers compared to glass and silicon [Kong J et
al, 2009; Tanyu Wang et al, 2013 and Alphonsus et al, 2010]. PDMS is easy to fabricate, flexible,
optically transparent and can irreversibly bind to itself through the application of oxygen plasma.
Another major advantage is that PDMS based devices can be fabricated in normal laboratory
conditions as opposed to clean room conditions that are expensive to maintain and access. PDMS is
also hydrophobic that is desirable for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

methodology offers significant advantages, including reduced reaction times and equipment
requirements compared to processes such as removing uncured oligomers by curing PDMS for a
longer time [Eddington et al, 2006] and monomer grafting. It is inexpensive and suitable for
commercial adoption [John Beal et al,

A Narrative Criticism Of The Political Ideological Lens
The second criticism I enjoyed was looking at the political ideological lens. Also, having a BS in
Political Science with minors in International relations and Pre Law, this criticism fully caught my
attention. This lens focuses on the resistance of Jesus in his time to motivate Christians today to stand
against institutionalized power that often disenfranchises and demeans the opportunity to obtain the
American dream. When viewing the New Testament, we must be honest in evaluating the aspects that
do not contribute to public health. The issue of poverty and political culture as it relates to the
condition of the oppressed is always front and center. My first paper even though a narrative criticism
paper focused on the need for political expediency over the true application of justice. This was
demonstrated in Matthew 27: 11 26, where Jesus is brought before Pontius Pilate. The purpose of this
unit was to illuminate the affair between politics and justice. The charge the high priests brought
against Jesus before Pontius Pilate displays that political expediency takes precedence over justice.
This unit is less about Jesus, partly due to his refusal to respond, and ... Show more content on

takes an emancipatory and inclusive approach to mental illness issues. I want to create a safe space

the furthest away. In my home church, I would the bishop say that no matter how much sin one
committed they could always come back to Christ and change their life. However, people who
struggle with mental illness are not given that grace and opportunity to come to Jesus. They are often

Statement Of Structural Engineering
The determintaion for seeking my future in Structural Engineering comes from my interest in
Structures after I joined undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at Kathmandu University. I d
found my interest growing already in Civil Engineering when I was in high school. I was following
works of my brother while he was studying Civil engineering. I could understand and draw Plan and
sections before I was got enrolled in undergraduate studies. During my undergraduate studies, I
particularly enjoyed the subjects related to structural Engineering and material science such as

Fascism In Russia
After World War One, many people yearned to return to normalcy; however, those desires were
rendered by the carnage and destruction caused by the war. In the twentieth century, fascism was a
response to many complicated social challenges and to the spread of Western liberal democracy. For
the growing fascist movements, the period after the First World War was seen as a time to bring
change to the nature of society, state, and international policies and laws. The rise of fascism in
Europe started in the early 1900 s due to cultural pessimism, the tragic consequences caused by the
war, and the incapability of liberal democratic regimes to cope with the war s consequences. After the
Second World War, people can argue that fascism has long disappeared ... Show more content on

The current global economic and political climate has promoted the question of whether fascism is on
the rise again. Vladimir Putin is one of the few current world leaders who has shown fascist
tendencies. Putin s Russia has many elements that are reminiscent of the early 1900 s fascism. There
are many similarities between Putin s Russia and the fundamental principles of classical fascism. Putin
asserts Russian power by putting pressure on weak neighboring states, and slams the West s criticism
of his policies and actions. By annexing Crimea and supporting pro Russian separatists in eastern
Ukraine in 2014, Russia was able to justify its military patriotic mobilization of society and the
transformation of Russia into a besieged fortress (Motyl, 2016, pg. 29). The annexation of Crimea
made Russian citizens feel a wave of vicarious optimism. Putin s bully attitude and aggression are
supposed to manifest Russian ethnic and cultural revitalization after decades of decline. Similar to
Mussolini, Putin is building his regime on the promises of greatness, the display of military force, and
the campaign to make Russia great again. Putin s actions and policies provide the Russian citizens
with a sense of national pride, which has been lacking since the post Soviet era. He continues to
pursue strategies and policies that restore Russian pride while consolidating power and influence in
Russia. Putin lacks of interest in engaging with Western politics has also contributed to the rise of his

Essay International Adoption
International Adoption
The necessity of adoption in the world is astounding. Currently, there is an estimated 143 million
orphans worldwide (Wingert, vol.151). As of 2007, there were 513,000 children living in foster care
within the United States alone (Rousseau 21:14).International adoption in the United States was
jumpstarted post World War II as a way of helping those children who were left homeless, after war
had taken their parents. Although there are thousands of healthy children awaiting adoption in the
United States, several American couples still turn to foreign adoption when seeking potential children.
Americans often fail to realize the need for intervention within their own country and their duty to

Due to this sense of subordination women in poor countries [feel as if] they and their children serve as
commodities for privileged Western people ( qtd. in Hollingsworth 48:209). A sense of vulnerability
leads several women in developing countries to believe that they have to give their children up to
wealthy Americans because of the high status of the American people. The implementation of acts
such as manipulating illiterate mothers, infants taken by force, and the paying of young girls to have
children are just a few ways that the naïve are taken advantage of (Hollingsworth 48:209). When
Americans adopt children that were gained through these unjust acts, it is as if Americans are
supporting the injustice, regardless of their previous knowledge of the existence of such situations
(Hollingsworth 48:209). By stopping international adoption, these acts of injustice would not be able
to continue and families would not face exploitation. Not only are families exploited but also the
children involved. In poor countries, disabled children face discrimination along with older children.
These children are often forgotten about, since the foreign adoption of these children does not bring
enough money to corrupted governments (Wingert, vol.151). Gender discrimination is also taking
place. Hollingsworth uses statistics to show this gender discrimination since in 1997, seventy eight
percent of the children

How Technology Has Changed The World Today
In this research paper i will be talking about bridges and their importance to the world today. I will
also go into detail on how bridges were in the past and how the first bridges were made by nature. I
will compare bridges from the past to how technology has changed the way bridges are built today in
the modern era. The more we advance in technology the more ca pabilities we have too make bridges
that support so much more weight. As the improvements are made bridges are just becoming safer and
more reliables. I will mention 5 different kinds of bridges the beam bridge, arch bridge, cantilever
bridge, cable stayed bridge, and the suspension bridge. I will go into depth on how each one of these
bridges it s designed and the purpose of that certain bridge.
Bridges
Bridges they come in many different shapes and sizes every bridge has a purpose and is unique in it s
own way. A bridge is a structure that provides a passageway over obstacles such as rough terrain,
valleys or bodies of water by stretching across these obstacles. There are many dif ferent kinds of
bridges and they all serve a purpose. A lot of people rely on a bridge on a daily basis and they have to
put their faith in the engineer that designed the bridge and hope that the bridge is safe. I will go into
detail about the origins of bridges, the different types of bridges, and how shapes help support the
structure of the bridge.

Truth Behind The Mirror
Reflections no longer hold truth when encased by a mirror. There is darkness behind the glass that
seeps into people s subconscious. As it lingers inside them, it does not let up on its firm grasp on the
victim. This demonstrates how society s views can have a negative effect on an individual. Outside
pressure can become an overbearing force that is placed on individuals. People should not try to
capsize a stable boat when there is nothing wrong with it. People are too focused on what makes them
different from society, and how that is a negative thing. However, being unique is what makes them
beautiful. Comparing murky pond water and a crystal clear mirror allows people to see the distortions
in themselves and how everything is not surface deep. When looking into a murky pond or a clear
mirror, people perceive a distorted version of themselves. A pond drenched by pouring rain soon
causes the overflowing waters to escape from the banks and loosens the rich, black soil. The next day,
the cloudy pond is consumed by the disrupted mud which dims the reflection that is cast when the on
looker is looking in. As the mud rises to the surface, the image people have of themselves become
muddled. Mud that is now stirred in with the water will not let the sediment float back to the pond s
bottom which makes it appear that the once clear water will forever remain as a diluted pond. Even the
moss that is scattered on the surface limits the person s view, and capsizes on their

The World Of World War II Essay
World War II resulted in the deaths of over three percent of the 1939 population and saw
unprecedented economic damage. Similar to World War I, there was strong European sentiment to
prevent such a war from unfolding again, particularly due to the newfound fear associated with
nuclear weapons and the extensive civilian toll the war caused. The chief problem with creating
benevolent relations between nations was reconciling France and Germany. To ensure Germany could
never threaten Europe again, Europe instituted the Monnet Plan, which dismantled German heavy
industry and stripped Germany of its coal producing regions. Germany was also divided into West
Germany, which was controlled by Western Europe/NATO and East Germany, which was controlled
by the Soviet Union.
As sentiments like Winston Churchill s 1946 call for United States of Europe became louder, the
Council of Europe was established in 1949 as the first pan European organization. French Foreign
Minister, Robert Schuman, on May 9, 1950, proposed the Schuman Declaration, which created a
community to integrate the coal and steel industries of Europe in an effort to promote international
cooperation and understanding. He chose the coal and steel industries due to their necessity in the
production of weaponry. France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and West Germany
signed the Treaty of Paris, creating the European Coal and Steel Community, giving birth to
cooperative agencies like the Common Assembly. The

The Center Of The Earth By Jules Verne A German Writer
Journey to the Center of the Earth is a well known book written by Jules Verne a German writer.
Directors thought it was such a great book that three movies were created because of this. It is a
science fiction, adventure novel, the book is written in first person point of view; viewing the main
character of the book named Axel. Journey to the Center of the Earth takes place in many places, in
the beginning we got to know the characters in the town of Hamburg, Germany. For a couple of
chapters in the middle they were in Iceland in the capital, Reykjavik. After that they were at Sneffels
an extinct volcano that leads to the Center of the Earth, the mood changed a lot throughout the novel
being happy through the beginning, dark in the middle, and serious at the end. At the start of the book
it takes place on May 24, 1863.The setting influences the book because of being in the early times
Jules Verne thought it might had been possible to go to the center of the earth. The theme is telling us
to try something new and not to let your fear hold you back from trying those things.
The characters in the novel are Axel the protagonist he is the nephew of Professor Lidenbrock. Axel is
a round and dynamic, we know a lot about him because he shows that he is scared to go to the center
of the earth and we know that he takes after his uncle because he is an intelligent man, because he

Essay on Post-Soviet Government And The Free Press
The Post soviet countries have begun to build themselves from the ground up, with the hope for a
substantial future. As a result of the switch from socialism to capitalism the transition has brought new
challenges. In other words, the political democratic stability for the sovereign states became
inadequate. It had been standard to view newly democratic nations turned over and became more in
support of the western capitalist idea. Although, the new post soviet states are presumably embracing a
democratic ideology, it has been clear that it needs coordination to demonstrate that change. Many

I begin my research communicating the idea of stability is the absence of open conflict among elite
groups. Among all elite s there are many power struggles, but to keep these conflicts among
themselves their needs to be like mindedness, this in fact is a type of censorship to the public. To
elaborate more on this, Nils Wessell describes from his journal called, Limited Freedom of the Press A
Discussion that in, today s sense that Freedom of the press has been lost also reflects the absence of
open conflict among elite groups. Only such conflict creates limited freedom of the press. (Wessell,
46) This is an act of an authoritarian government; the reaction that it takes outside this elite group on
the public is an act of self preservation. In today s Russia according to Wessell there is this full on
authoritarian regime and it has begun to eliminate freedom of speech, and its adversaries. (Wessell,
46) I take these points that he makes as a description of a beginning of a relationship between society
and its government. Democratic as Russia may seem to be perceived, the movers and shakers of that
nation actually have too much power in the hands of few. I see the media, as an essential tool for a
society to have a democracy, but in the contrary the media can be an inappropriate tool to deceive the
public if controlled few. Societies choices would be based on controlled norms, where the definition of

Child Sexual Abuse And The Community
Mezzo Perspective
According to Simmons University, Mezzo Social Work involves working with small to medium sized
groups or organizations such as schools, community service organizations, or businesses to promote
cultural or institutional change (Social Workers, 2016). In other words, it is working with the
community. Child Sexual Abuse impacts the community in several ways, such as through fear,
confusion, as well as economically. Though the abuse might only physically affect one person, it could
still greatly impact everyone else.
The first way that Child Sexual Abuse affects the community is through fear. Sometimes families in
communities have an ideal idea about their identity and if something, such as Child Sexual Abuse
happens in a family in that community, it could disrupt the foundation. According to the organization,
New York Alliance against Sexual Assault, The community s reluctance to interfere in private family
matters, and the desire to maintain the illusion of family as a safe unit, hides and condones the
widespread incidence of Child Sexual Abuse (Adult Survivors, 2015). Therefore, Child Sexual Abuse
occurring in the community is fearsome, because it disrupts the conceived notions about the
community. Another reason Child Sexual Abuse brings fear into the community is because often Child
Sexual Abusers have more than one victim. According to the organization Child Safe House, Nearly
70% of child sex offenders have between 1 and 9 victims; at least 20%

A Research Study On The School Fire Occurred On Public Land
Introduction The first question to be addressed in this study is, will there be varying tree seedling
species diversity in relation to varying levels of burn severity? My hypothesis for this question is that
we will see the highest tree species diversity where we see a moderate level of burn severity. The
second question of the study asks, did the presence of salvage logging lead to a difference in the tree
seedling densities as compared to unlogged sites? My hypothesis for this question is that there will be
a greater density of tree species in the salvage logged site than the unlogged site.

line). On unlogged sites belt transects also varied with densities. On sample sites that were unburned
with low densities (site code ULU), belt lengths measured 10 m and widths of either 2 m or 1 m. Sites
with high severity and high densities (HHU) were measured with either 15m or 10 m belt lengths with
2 m belt widths. Once belt transect lengths and belt widths were established, measurements were
recorded. Since this paper focuses on tree seedling and saplings, methods of larger tree measurements
and understory canopy cover measurements will not be discussed. Tree seedlings and saplings were
recorded only if they fell within the area encompassed by the belt transect length and width. If they
did, the four letter species code was recorded per individual seedling (ex: PIPO for ponderosa pine),
its status (1 if living, 0 if dead), height (cm) from ground level, and the number of internodes to

My Love Letter
The sole qualification for writing a love letter is that you feel the love and want to express it. That s
the beauty of it. But it would be trite and probably false to say that as an expat, I can love Canada
more truly (observe: Gord Downie). I think it interesting, however, that my love for Canada has grown
up become richer, more intentional and more constant since I left.
I moved with my family from Toronto to New York in 2014 to take a job teaching philosophy a
fantasy job, a world class city.
The months before leaving were a time of pre emptive nostalgia, but I thought the pain I was feeling
and its peculiar sweetness were for the rites of passage ahead. Leaving the city where my children
were born. Leaving my friends as they were leaving me, all leaves on the wind of the horrid academic
job market. Leaving my student days behind.
All that was real.
I was raised, as is any self respecting Northwestern Ontarian, to hate Toronto. But, I loved Toronto
passionately, completely. My husband, from Montreal and similarly brought up, was equally smitten.
Of course, it was hard to leave. Of course, it would be sad. We went back for my convocation at the
University of Toronto a few months after moving to New York and it was wrenching the geographical
version of seeing your gorgeous ex too soon after the breakup.
But two things happened that made me realize the bittersweet quality of our departing days wasn t just
about Toronto, or the life we had built there.

Social Anxiety Chemical Imbalances Summary
The article Social Anxiety, Chemical Imbalances, and Brain Neural Pathways and Associations
addresses various mental/ cognitive causes of anxiety. Although this source focuses mainly on social
anxiety, the statements that are addressed are similar to numerous other subtypes of anxiety. This
source states Chemical imbalances exist because the neural pathways systems of the brain sometimes
lead to emotional pain [anxiety] and irrational conclusions (Social Anxiety, Chemical Imbalances, and
Brain Neural Pathways and Associations 1). A simplified definition of a neural pathway is what
connects the brain to our nervous system. This means that anxieties are caused by neural pathway
systems improperly functioning, which leads to chemical imbalances

Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Ovarian Axis
The hypothalamic pituitary ovarian axis (HPO) is the regulatory axis of the reproductive system. The
principal regulatory hormone for the HPO axis is gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH); this
hormone is produced by neurons of the preoptic and arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus. The
hormone is released into the hypophyseal portal system, and stimulates the pituitary follicles, which
encourages hormone secretion. This in turn encourages the secretion of estradiol and progesterone by
the ovaries.
The hypothalamus pituitary adrenal axis (HPA) is part of the stress response system, and has the effect
of changing the organism s behavior in order to increase the organism s chances to survive the
stressful situation. When stress is present, the

Volumetric Analysis Lab
Conclusion: The purpose of this experiment was to determine the concentration of an unknown acid
by performing volumetric analysis via a titration procedure (Beran, 2014). The acid that was used as
the analyte was unknown A, an originally clear solution of hydrochloric acid that turned hot pink after
having added approximately 14.50 and 14.40 milliliters of sodium hydroxide, for trials 1 and 2
respectively. The molarity calculated for this acid was found to be 0.86 M, but this value is not
accurate because the indicator showed that too much sodium hydroxide was added to the solution,
eventually passing the endpoint, resulting in a vibrant pink color instead of the intended light pink
hue. The true concentration of this acid must then be less ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Part A. The mass of KHC8H4O4 is measured to the nearest milligram; however, the volume of water
in which it is dissolved is never of concern the water is even added to the wall of the Erlenmeyer flask
during the titration. Explain why water added to the KHC8H4O4 has no effect on the date, whereas
water added to the NaOH solution may drastically affect the data.
The presence of water is of little significance to the final results of the experiment involving
KHC8H4O4 because this compound is not one that is very hygroscopic, usually being unable to
absorb any water that surrounds it (Beran, 2014). However, this is not the case with sodium hydroxide
because unlike the aforementioned compound, sodium hydroxide is known to be highly hygroscopic,
and if it were to come into contact with water, the concentration of 0.14893 M that was used in this
experiment would change to a lower value, after having been diluted by the water (Beran, 2014).
5. Part B.2. The wall of the Erlenmeyer flask is occasionally rinsed with water from the wash bottle
(see Part A.6) during the analysis of the acid solution. Will this technique result in the molar
concentration of the acid solution being reported as too high, too low, or unaffected?

  • 2. Physical Abuse In Geriatric Patients In today s societies older populations have been forgotten, depreciated, and severely deprived of adequate healthcare resources, services, and funding (O Brien, 2010). Issues involving insufficient healthcare policies, limited research, and lack of elderly abuse education has prevented geriatric patients from receiving proper care (O Brien, 2010). With this in mind some research has shown high rates of physical abuse and negligence towards elderly patients in the healthcare facilities (Zhang, 2011). The Adult Protective Services (APS) explains that negligence is one of the most common types of domestic abuses reported (Zhang, 2011). There are three essential components of healthcare that need to be revised to accommodate the elderly population: clinical practice, policy, and research (O Brien, 2010). One solution to resolve the issues of physical negligence in geriatric populations is to promote educational programs that are involved in all levels of medical training and practices in order to detect and intervene when elderly abuse is suspected or evident (O Brien, 2010). Implementing specific guidelines for elderly patient care, creating new methods and standards of practice for documentation, and creating a patient care model to demonstrate proper treatment of elderly patients should be a priority for the entire healthcare community (O Brien, 2010). Healthcare professionals and legislatures should closely collaborate with each other in order to establish transparency. By developing uniform laws and policies that clearly state specific documentation requirements needed for elderly abuse, intervention and detection strategies for elderly abuse, and creating similar definitions for certain terms of abuse to avoid any confusion between local, state, or national levels of government (O Brien, 2010). The Invention Of Internet Has Changed Our World If you were to go back 1960s and tell people how in the future you can talk to people on another continent in matter of seconds and with little to no cost. That you can even send mail, music, photos and even videos clips in just matter of seconds to as many people as you want. They will look at you and will probably think you are insane, but all of these things and even more are possible due to the internet. Many people uses the internet today, but they don t know how it works, why was it created or who invented it? Even though everything from our banking, business, shopping, communication, dating, entertainment, education and the most basic task are done on the internet. However one can argue that s the best part of the internet we don t need to understand it on technology, social, and physiological level to use it. However no one can argue that the invention of internet has changed our world, from how we communicate, to how we work, and to how we live our lives. That the internet was an evolutionary step not a fad, and it has become a pivotal part of our society which has led to it to become a necessity and a vital tool for the progression of our race. Before we get into why the internet was created and how it works, we need talk about the word internet . He wrote a book on the principles of finding the dream job, and highlighted the main points in it. Therefor, every individual has a unique way of interpreting the meaning of fulfilling work. To a limited extent, the term might refer to a piece of work that can meet all the sustainable qualities of a given task so as an individual can quickly attain the fundamental goals that they need. Various authors are making the statement about the topic. However, the tenacity of this essay is to describe the book by Roman Krznaric on how an individual can find the fulfilling work. Nonetheless, it is to provide an analysis of the specific terminologies used in the book and present suggestions on how best a person could find a fulfilling piece of work. Based on the various interpretations that have been made by Roman, the book is exploring on the competition of claims that most people face for their money, the status of life, and eventually the meaning of their lives. It is a concept that can help an individual find a type of career in which he can thrive. On the other hand, the idea of fulfilling work in a job market is to find a job that reflects on an individual s passion, kind of talents, and the personal values (Krznaric 57). There were studies on their behavior as the author said, The purpose of this study was to examine the pre and post migration variables that predict the psychological distress and self destructive behavior for Vietnamese Amerasians the immigrants were quite distressed (Bernak and Chung 1). Many churches over the nation encouraged immigrants to join Vietnamese communities so they could be with more of their kind for comfort. Many of those communities are still here today like Little Saigon in Orange County, California. Some refugees were still having flashbacks about the war so the U.S. government recommended that they should do volunteer hours or part time jobs so they can keep their mind off of it and so they can get some profit. According to the Levin Institute, both the IMF and the World Bank were started after WW2 in response to concerns about the stability of economic markets around the world. While the World Bank now has a focus projects and sustainable development, the IMF is primarily focused on fiscal policy with lending practices that are focused on crisis management. The earliest microfluidic devices were made mostly made from silicon since the technology for patterning silicon wafers had already been developed by the electronics industry for its usage in microelectronics and micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS). As it lingers inside them, it does not let up on its firm grasp on the victim. This demonstrates how society s views can have a negative effect on an individual. Outside pressure can become an overbearing force that is placed on individuals. People should not try to capsize a stable boat when there is nothing wrong with it. People are too focused on what makes them different from society, and how that is a negative thing. However, being unique is what makes them beautiful. Comparing murky pond water and a crystal clear mirror allows people to see the distortions in themselves and how everything is not surface deep. When looking into a murky pond or a clear mirror, people perceive a distorted version of themselves. A pond drenched by pouring rain soon causes the overflowing waters to escape from the banks and loosens the rich, black soil. The next day, the cloudy pond is consumed by the disrupted mud which dims the reflection that is cast when the on looker is looking in. As the mud rises to the surface, the image people have of themselves become muddled. Mud that is now stirred in with the water will not let the sediment float back to the pond s bottom which makes it appear that the once clear water will forever remain as a diluted pond. Even the moss that is scattered on the surface limits the person s view, and capsizes on their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. The World Of World War II Essay World War II resulted in the deaths of over three percent of the 1939 population and saw unprecedented economic damage. Similar to World War I, there was strong European sentiment to prevent such a war from unfolding again, particularly due to the newfound fear associated with nuclear weapons and the extensive civilian toll the war caused. The chief problem with creating benevolent relations between nations was reconciling France and Germany. To ensure Germany could never threaten Europe again, Europe instituted the Monnet Plan, which dismantled German heavy industry and stripped Germany of its coal producing regions. Germany was also divided into West Germany, which was controlled by Western Europe/NATO and East Germany, which was controlled by the Soviet Union. As sentiments like Winston Churchill s 1946 call for United States of Europe became louder, the Council of Europe was established in 1949 as the first pan European organization. French Foreign Minister, Robert Schuman, on May 9, 1950, proposed the Schuman Declaration, which created a community to integrate the coal and steel industries of Europe in an effort to promote international cooperation and understanding. He chose the coal and steel industries due to their necessity in the production of weaponry. France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and West Germany signed the Treaty of Paris, creating the European Coal and Steel Community, giving birth to cooperative agencies like the Common Assembly. Journey to the Center of the Earth takes place in many places, in the beginning we got to know the characters in the town of Hamburg, Germany. For a couple of chapters in the middle they were in Iceland in the capital, Reykjavik. After that they were at Sneffels an extinct volcano that leads to the Center of the Earth, the mood changed a lot throughout the novel being happy through the beginning, dark in the middle, and serious at the end. At the start of the book it takes place on May 24, 1863.The setting influences the book because of being in the early times Jules Verne thought it might had been possible to go to the center of the earth. As a result of the switch from socialism to capitalism the transition has brought new challenges. In other words, the political democratic stability for the sovereign states became inadequate. It had been standard to view newly democratic nations turned over and became more in support of the western capitalist idea. Although, the new post soviet states are presumably embracing a democratic ideology, it has been clear that it needs coordination to demonstrate that change. Many people assume that to establish a democracy similar to the United States, you need to give back the control of a nation to the people in the form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I begin my research communicating the idea of stability is the absence of open conflict among elite groups. Among all elite s there are many power struggles, but to keep these conflicts among themselves their needs to be like mindedness, this in fact is a type of censorship to the public. To elaborate more on this, Nils Wessell describes from his journal called, Limited Freedom of the Press A Discussion that in, today s sense that Freedom of the press has been lost also reflects the absence of open conflict among elite groups. Only such conflict creates limited freedom of the press. (Wessell, 46) This is an act of an authoritarian government; the reaction that it takes outside this elite group on the public is an act of self preservation. In today s Russia according to Wessell there is this full on authoritarian regime and it has begun to eliminate freedom of speech, and its adversaries. (Wessell, 46) I take these points that he makes as a description of a beginning of a relationship between society and its government. Democratic as Russia may seem to be perceived, the movers and shakers of that nation actually have too much power in the hands of few. I see the media, as an essential tool for a society to have a democracy, but in the contrary the media can be an inappropriate tool to deceive the public if controlled few. • 38. Child Sexual Abuse And The Community Mezzo Perspective According to Simmons University, Mezzo Social Work involves working with small to medium sized groups or organizations such as schools, community service organizations, or businesses to promote cultural or institutional change (Social Workers, 2016). In other words, it is working with the community. Child Sexual Abuse impacts the community in several ways, such as through fear, confusion, as well as economically. Though the abuse might only physically affect one person, it could still greatly impact everyone else. The first way that Child Sexual Abuse affects the community is through fear. Sometimes families in communities have an ideal idea about their identity and if something, such as Child Sexual Abuse happens in a family in that community, it could disrupt the foundation. According to the organization, New York Alliance against Sexual Assault, The community s reluctance to interfere in private family matters, and the desire to maintain the illusion of family as a safe unit, hides and condones the widespread incidence of Child Sexual Abuse (Adult Survivors, 2015). Therefore, Child Sexual Abuse occurring in the community is fearsome, because it disrupts the conceived notions about the community. Another reason Child Sexual Abuse brings fear into the community is because often Child Sexual Abusers have more than one victim. According to the organization Child Safe House, Nearly 70% of child sex offenders have between 1 and 9 victims; at least 20% ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. A Research Study On The School Fire Occurred On Public Land Introduction The first question to be addressed in this study is, will there be varying tree seedling species diversity in relation to varying levels of burn severity? My hypothesis for this question is that we will see the highest tree species diversity where we see a moderate level of burn severity. The second question of the study asks, did the presence of salvage logging lead to a difference in the tree seedling densities as compared to unlogged sites? My hypothesis for this question is that there will be a greater density of tree species in the salvage logged site than the unlogged site. Methods The School Fire occurred on public land in Washington s Umatilla National Forest in August, 2005. It burned approximately 21,000 ha of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once sites were selected, site specific measurements were then recorded including the elevation (m), percent slope of transects, aspect (in magnetic degrees), and the latitude and longitude, using a GPS for accuracy. Sampling on logged sites was done using 30 m belt transects extending out at varying widths depending on stand density. At low seedling stand densities belts were extended out to 6 m (3 m on each side of line), while at high seedling densities belt widths measured 2 m (1 m each side of line). On unlogged sites belt transects also varied with densities. On sample sites that were unburned with low densities (site code ULU), belt lengths measured 10 m and widths of either 2 m or 1 m. Sites with high severity and high densities (HHU) were measured with either 15m or 10 m belt lengths with 2 m belt widths. Once belt transect lengths and belt widths were established, measurements were recorded. Since this paper focuses on tree seedling and saplings, methods of larger tree measurements and understory canopy cover measurements will not be discussed. Tree seedlings and saplings were recorded only if they fell within the area encompassed by the belt transect length and width. But it would be trite and probably false to say that as an expat, I can love Canada more truly (observe: Gord Downie). I think it interesting, however, that my love for Canada has grown up become richer, more intentional and more constant since I left. I moved with my family from Toronto to New York in 2014 to take a job teaching philosophy a fantasy job, a world class city. The months before leaving were a time of pre emptive nostalgia, but I thought the pain I was feeling and its peculiar sweetness were for the rites of passage ahead. Leaving the city where my children were born. Leaving my friends as they were leaving me, all leaves on the wind of the horrid academic job market. Leaving my student days behind. All that was real. I was raised, as is any self respecting Northwestern Ontarian, to hate Toronto. But, I loved Toronto passionately, completely. My husband, from Montreal and similarly brought up, was equally smitten. Of course, it was hard to leave. Of course, it would be sad. We went back for my convocation at the University of Toronto a few months after moving to New York and it was wrenching the geographical version of seeing your gorgeous ex too soon after the breakup. The hormone is released into the hypophyseal portal system, and stimulates the pituitary follicles, which encourages hormone secretion. This in turn encourages the secretion of estradiol and progesterone by the ovaries. The acid that was used as the analyte was unknown A, an originally clear solution of hydrochloric acid that turned hot pink after having added approximately 14.50 and 14.40 milliliters of sodium hydroxide, for trials 1 and 2 respectively. The molarity calculated for this acid was found to be 0.86 M, but this value is not accurate because the indicator showed that too much sodium hydroxide was added to the solution, eventually passing the endpoint, resulting in a vibrant pink color instead of the intended light pink hue. The mass of KHC8H4O4 is measured to the nearest milligram; however, the volume of water in which it is dissolved is never of concern the water is even added to the wall of the Erlenmeyer flask during the titration. Explain why water added to the KHC8H4O4 has no effect on the date, whereas water added to the NaOH solution may drastically affect the data. The presence of water is of little significance to the final results of the experiment involving KHC8H4O4 because this compound is not one that is very hygroscopic, usually being unable to absorb any water that surrounds it (Beran, 2014). However, this is not the case with sodium hydroxide because unlike the aforementioned compound, sodium hydroxide is known to be highly hygroscopic, and if it were to come into contact with water, the concentration of 0.14893 M that was used in this experiment would change to a lower value, after having been diluted by the water (Beran, 2014). 5.
