Front Line Supervisors
In the profession of occupational safety and health, the conversational interpretation style would be
most common amongst front line supervisors. Though some regulations provide clearly defined
measurements, many regulations enforced by OSHA provide unspecified instructions for the front line
supervisors to comply with. For instance, 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii) states, The point of operation of
machines whose operation exposes an employee to injury, shall be guarded. The guarding device shall
be in conformity with any appropriate standards therefor, or, in the absence of applicable specific
standards, shall be so designed and constructed as to prevent the operator from having any part of his
body in the danger zone during the operating cycle. In this case, what are the additional appropriate
standards? How specific does a standard need to be for consideration? Where is the designated danger
zone? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though similar to conversational, the constructive interpretation indicates the connection with
additional aspects. Undermining one s safety to spotlight additional areas can be highly dangerous and
even punishable. SeaWorld of Florida, LLC v. Thomas Perez, No. 12 1375 demonstrates a case where
entertaining a crowd, political view, received greater attention than the safety of the trainer. As defined
by Dr. Hayden, conversational interpretation allows the front line supervisor to interchange thoughts
with the law or expert to grasp the complete context of the legal situation. Therefore, front line
supervisors most commonly practicing conversational interpretation can more adequately protect the
given situation after acquiring a greater

Words Kill War
The picture portrays speaking out. Telling leaders to talk about the problems you have with each other
instead of killing the innocent. Wars all over the world are not being talked about enough. It s sad that
we as people have simply became comfortable with people killing others simply because they are
doing something we do not like. We also don t act upon the killing of thousands of women and their
children in other countries. An article states that talking more equals less fighting. Choose dialogue
over death and destruction. That is a sentiment that we can all stand behind. It is not too late to create
a world where words kill wars. Women in Iran are seen as property. They have no rights. A young
Iranian feminist stated that her and many other women are against war and they should scream it loud
and they shouldn t be afraid of being heard. Many of those women want children, and want to know
what it s like to be free. They also want to find jobs and be independent. The war and the law is
hindering many of those things from happening. The physical, sexual, and violent environment
children are exposed to during war is devastating. It destroys their outlook on the people that are
supposed to be protecting them. Many children die or fall ill from the pollution from the war. Many
doctors and nurses have been killed or left the country. The children and adults who are sick or hurt

The And Of Rock Music
They Might Be Giants throughout their career have been an incredibly subversive band. While many
band s highest charting singles might be about the perils or joys of love, They Might Be Giants biggest
hit, 1990 s Birdhouse In Your Soul is sung from the perspective of child s nightlight, musing on its job

The Johns would then play their instruments (Linnell on accordion, banjo, and woodwinds,
Flansburgh on guitar, trumpet, and harmonica) and sing in time to these tracks. On certain numbers,
however, a backing track wasn t required, and the John s would create their own backing tracks on
stage in a number of different ways. This included, and still includes to this day The Stick . The Stick
is a long piece of wood with a omni directional microphone attached to the bottom of it with duct tape.
This is slammed against the stage by John Flansburgh (or in the early 90 s, a fan from the audience) to
a repetitive beat over which Linnell would play the baritone saxophone, or keyboards to their song Lie
Still, Little Bottle while Flansburgh sang. An even more bizarre backing track can be found on a 1989
bootleg live recording from a West German performance of the B Side Stormy Pinkness , in which
Linnell instructs the audience to stomp on the floor in ¾ time while chanting the word Love! . (They
Might Be Giants, 2002) Over this Flansburgh and Linnell play their instruments and sing. The live set

potentially augmented with keyboards shows just one way how They Might Be Giants acted against

Nabisco History

May 2, 2011 History of Nabisco Incorporated Nabisco Food Groups has been one of the widely
known names in the food industry. Nabisco is among the world s largest manufacturers of cookies and
crackers. Nabisco Brands was formed in 1981 through a merger of Nabisco and Standard Brands. In
1985 R.J. Reynolds Industries acquired Nabisco brands in one of the largest takeovers in business
history. In earlier years the company was called N.B.C. In 1941 the company took on the name
Nabisco, but it was in 1971 when the name became the official corporate name. The National Biscuit

During the Depression sales slowed down. Some new products helped boost company sales during
this time. In 1931 N.B.C. took over the Bennett Biscuit Company and concentrated on its most
popular product line, Milk Bone Dog Biscuits, originally marketed as a dog s desert. In 1934 N.B.C.
met with the great success when it launched Ritz Crackers as a new prestige item. In 1941 the letters
N.B.C. in the official trademark were exchanged for the word Nabisco. The change was part to reduce
confusion with the recently established National Broadcasting Company. During World War II
Nabisco was again faced with the problem of rationed flour, butter, sugar, and oil. Recipes were
altered and substitutes were used. This was a troubled time for Nabisco. During the Depression,
Nabisco had neglected many capital improvements, and many bakeries were outdated and in need of
renovation. In 1945 the Nabisco board elected the young and energetic George Coopers as president.
Due to Coopers new attitude he began to modernize Nabisco s bakeries. Within ten years Coopers had
spent more than $150 million renovating old plants and building new ones. The reconstruction
program culminated in 1958 with the opening of an ultra modern bakery and research center in Fair

Essay On Antebellum Home
Antebellum Homes in Mississippi
Antebellum homes are majestically crafted homes that are rare and hard to find. They have
architectural designs and stories that make each unique. The word antebellum originates from Latin,
meaning before war . When used with the word architecture, it signifies tasteful plantation homes that
were built in the South during thirty years after the American Civil War. This architecture was first
presented by the Anglo Americans who relocated to the area after the Louisiana Purchase in 1803.
Although each is distinctly different, they are similar to a degree. The homes all resemble each other
with the luxurious and proportioned look, centered entrance ways, balconies, and columns and posts.
Some highlights most antebellum homes have are evenly spaced windows, gabled roofs, even facades,
grand staircases, formal ballrooms, Greek pillars, and covered porches. All of these extravagant
features suggest the wealthy and power of landowners (Craven).
Mont Helena is an antebellum home located in Rolling Fork, MS. Helen Johnstone Harris and her
husband, George Harris built this grand retirement home on a ceremonial Indian mound Helen
inherited from her father (Mont Helena: A Dream Revisited). However, George was not the man

Athena and Odysseus
Relationship between Athena and Odysseus By looking at the epic The Odyssey by Homer, there are a
lot of contacts between human and immoral, the relationship between Athena and Odysseus, which
make me interesting, also this is important for the story. The relationship between Athena and
Odysseus is the key for the story, because Odysseus had received a lot of help from Athena, their
relationship is the reason to explain why would an immortal Athena who never interesting or attracted

Explain The Roots Of Confucianism
In this essay, I ll discuss the founders of Confucianism and why it was introduced to the Chinese
people as a belief they should follow. I ll explain all three founders main theories and the effect it had
on Confucianism as a whole. I ll also examine why Confucianism was brought in by the Han Dynasty.
Confucianism is the system of ethics, education and statesmanship taught by Confucius and his
disciples. [1] It s also dedicated to the study of mankind, making it a form of humanism.
Confucianism, as a whole, is a faith that holds much hope for civilisation and is very optimistic in it s

strategically they thought about their decisions and how the general public perceived them, wanting to

Animal Rights: What Everyone Needs to Know Book Analysis Animal Rights: What Everyone Needs
to Know is a book written by Paul Waldau, president of the Religion and Animals Institute but also a
former director of the Center for Animals and Public Policy. Waldau is an author with experience in
studying animal law and the treatment of animals. He served as lecturer at the Harvard Law School,
regarding animal law, four times between 2002 2010. His book describes the many different issues
presented in animal testing and the animal rights movement and how these issues are regarded in
society. The General Information chapter discusses what is meant by animal rights and which animals
are included in the animal rights movement. The animal rights movement questions whether enforcing
and enacting animal rights is a moral issue or a legal one. The author calls for the readers to have an

Using Hammurabi s Code as an example, the author describes the relationship between humans and
animals as owner and property. As stated by Hammurabi s Code, domesticated animals were valuable
property and were subject to use by humans. Justinian s code is also referenced, allowing humans
access to any animal that is captured. These prehistoric codes have shaped the mindset of many,
leading humans to believe in a natural superiority over animals. This superiority has reduced the status
of animals from living, breathing, wildlife, to simple property. Per the Laws chapter, this superior
mindset is not a new concept.
This tendency to subordinate the natural world is not news to anyone today...this approach in legal
systems are matched by the long history of some powerful humans treating other, less powerful
humans as personal property that could be owned.

Key Implications Of The Solow Model
The Solow model is widely considered to be the standard neoclassical economic growth model which
serves as the basis for understanding economic growth. I will first introduce the two basic equations
that the Solow model is built around, discussing the main assumptions made along the way. I will then
present the key equation of the Solow model and discuss its results and implications. I will then
address why it is desirable to use log linearization, and how it can be used to study the dynamics near
the steady state. We will then briefly look into the empirical results of Mankiw et al. (1992) and what
they mean for the Solow model. We begin with the aggregate production function of the model. Let us
denote output (Y), capital (K), labour (L) and the index of productive efficiency (A). The production
function can then be written as:
Y=F(K,AL) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To the contrary, if a is high then the rate of convergence is low because diminishing returns set in
slowly.
The differential equation for output convergence is quite similar. Assuming Cobb Douglas technology
we can show that y=k^a which then implies that y ̇/y=a k ̇/k by taking logs and differentiating with
respect to time. Here a is translating a given growth rate of capital into a given growth rate of output.
Substituting into the previous differential equation we get a new one for the growth rate of output:
y ̇/y≈ λ[logy logy^*]
The growth rate in each of these expressions is linear in the gap from the steady state measured in
logarithms.
Solving both differential equations and re arranging we get: logy(t) =(e^( λt) )logy(0)+(1 e^( λt)
)logy^* (5) k(t) k^*=(e^( λt) )[k(0) k^*]

Uncle Tom Stereotypes
In a time where the media has possess a strong impression on the minds of those consuming it now
has become the jobs of directors, producers, and film companies to be mindful of the stereotypes they
are putting forth with their content. How can we erase the negative connotations that we associate with
races when these images are being maintained in the media? The Tom or Uncle Tom stereotype of the
well mannered elderly negro is one that should have vanished by now, but as of late it has been
revived by award winning filmmaker Quentin Tarrantino in his blockbuster film Django Unchained.
The stereotype had previously reared its head in Disney s live action film Song of the South. The
aforementioned Disney film was made in 1946, while the Tarrantino film was released in 2012. Were
those 66 years not enough to lay to rest a foolish racial stereotype?
According to Donald Bogle, the characterization of A Tom is someone who is: chased harassed,
hounded, flogged, enslaved, and insulted, they keep the faith, n er turn against their white massas, and
remain hearty (Bogle 5). Early incarnations of The Tom were often white men in blackface on minstrel
stages, who dressed up in tattered clothing and put on a receding and grayed hairline. These actors
were on stage shucking and jiving singing songs in broken English. In her book titled Uncle Tom

Hitler Became Chancellor in January 1933 Because He Was...
Hitler s assumption of power on the 30th of January 1933 was seemingly due to the mass popularity of
the Nazi party. However it was far off achieving the 50% majority it needed to put Hitler
automatically in power. As well as popularity, backstairs intrigue and the short sightedness of those in
power enabled Hitler to become Chancellor. The weaknesses of Germany s political leadership were
fundamental to Hitler s success. In some senses the popularity of the party only provided an opening,
available for exploitation.
Undoubtedly, Nazi popularity placed pressure on government and on President Hindenburg to make
Hitler Chancellor. Their astonishing rise in votes since 810 000 in 1928 to 13.75 million in July 1932

Meeting with Kurt Von Schröder, Papen not only in turn helped solve the Nazi financial debts to
ensure the continuation of the party, but presented an opportunity to Hitler which he otherwise would
not have been offered. Papen convinced Hindenburg the Nazi support could be harnessed and that its
ambitions and extremist policies contained through safety features. The President agreed to only meet
with Hitler when the Vice Chancellor, Von Papen, was present. Only two cabinet ministers were
included. By offering this, Von Papen made perhaps the most fatal underestimation of the 20th
century. He had had the responsibility of being decisive, thorough and unfaltering when Hindenburg
could not be and so his weak acceptance of Hitler s demands when he was perhaps not even in a
position to demand is surely a cause of Hitler s appointment.
Debatably, this arrangement was a production of Hitler s own political skill as opposed to, or as well
as, Papen s great failure. Hitler s opportunism, vehement desire for power and ability to manipulate
people was crucial for his success. Meeting with Von Papen in December 1932, he resolutely
demanded the Chancellorship. Whereas Strasser faltered in making botched agreements with Von
Schleicher for a lesser position, Hitler held out against odds. Additionally Hitler s chameleon nature

Synthesis Of Grignard Reagent And Benzaldehyde
Introduction: This experiment involved the synthesis of diphenylmethanal from phenylmagnesium
bromide which is a Grignard reagent, and benzaldehyde which is a carbonyl group. The goal of this
experiment was to investigate the ability of the Grignard reaction to yield the theoretical predicted
product and evaluate its efficiency. The Grignard reaction is an important reaction because of its
ability to allow the formation of carbon carbon bonds. These formations of C C sigma bonds, then
allow for the formation or making of large or complex synthetic molecules from very simple reagents.
These complex molecules are then used in many different areas such as the pharmaceutical industry.
Also, one must note that Grignard reagents are strong nucleophiles that can attack carbonyl groups
that can form substituted alcohols after the protonation step. The reaction occurred as follows. The
first step consisted in the formation of the Grignard reagent. That was done through the use of an
organic halide provided in the lab and Magnesium. The organic halide used was bromobenzene. The
second step consisted of reacting the Grignard reagent formed in the first step with benzaldehyde. The
third and final step consisted of using the product of the second step and diluting it with HCl
(Hydrochloric Acid). Finally, the product obtained of this whole reaction was diphenylmethonal (

Executive Summary NGO sector is the potential sector where the growth of a developing country
depends a lot. In Bangladesh NGO sector is also very influential. This sector is very big in Bangladesh
and holds a lot of skilled employees. So Human Resource Management (HRM) is very much
applicable as well as practiced in NGOs of Bangladesh. Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB)
is well known in Bangladesh. To compete the global challenge TIB has developed a skilled and

It prevents rule of law, distorts market and stifles economic growth. Corruption creates and
perpetuates social and economic deprivation and inequality. Corruption leads to violation of basic
constitutional and human rights. It breeds crimes, social frustration and discontent. Corruption
undermines the processes and structures that could be conducive to poverty reduction and promotion
of human security.
Corruption is nothing new, nor is it peculiar to any particular context. It takes place in greater or lesser
degree in all countries of the world, irrespective of political and economic system, big or small,
developed or developing. However, in a developing country like Bangladesh its impacts are most
unbearable. Corruption has become a key issue of public interest in Bangladesh not merely because of
the annual Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) published by Transparency International which has for
the fifth successive year ranked Bangladesh at the bottom of the list, but more importantly because of
the way corruption affects the lives of the common people. Irrespective of whether Bangladesh ranks
at the bottom or higher in international comparison, there is a widespread public concern in the
country about a pervasive presence of corruption. All the major political parties recognize corruption

The Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Introduction
The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind is an Oscar winning alternative U.S. film released March
19th 2004(IMDb 2015). It was produced by Focus Features and follows the dysfunctional love story
of Joel and Clementine. The film itself despite being strongly influenced by Hollywood pays homage
to other film movements such as surrealism and Soviet montage. The film in itself was a struggle to be
categorised, thought it has been described as a romance, black comedy and many others that will later
be explored. The director aimed to make this film timeless and still stands to be as effective today as it
was when it was released.
Production
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is the brainchild of director Michel Gondry and scriptwriter
Charlie Kaufman. Steve Golin on of the crew on the film was quoted saying the two complement each
other. Michel is truly gifted at visualisation. But he also has a lot of soul. Charlie is probably the most
imaginative writer that I ve had the opportunity to work with. He creates characters and situations that
are relatable but very unusual and he also has very visual ideas. (Dugdale H 2006). The film itself has
utilises rawer filming aspects than a classic Hollywood film. Instead of C.G.I the film uses camera
techniques to make the characters smaller or larger in scale (Dugdale H 2006). The film itself was
categorised under many genres including romance, drama, science fiction, black comedy, surrealism
and realism. The

Cruella De Vil Research Paper
The most horrifying villain i ve read about is Cruella De Vil. Nobody else in the entire atmosphere
measures up to her level of evil. Cruella De Vil is a character from the Disney animated movie One
Hundred and One Dalmatians . She is one of the most evil women on Earth. She collects fur coats that
she wears, killing innocent animals to do it. In her latest scheme, she kidnaps 99 dalmatian puppies in
order to make herself a dalmatian fur coat. The coat isn t even in style, and she could just wait until
the dogs die to take their fur. She is the devils best friend, or worse, commander! The woman is so
vicious her name even has cruel in it. Therefor she is known for what she is, cruel! Puppies are one of
the most harmless animals in the world, why would someone kill them for a coat that isn t even cute?
She s ruthless and crazy and someone needs to imprison her before the wipes away the entire dog
population. Cruella De Vil is beyond powerful she ll stop at nothing to get what she wants! Her
schemes are also difficult to invent, therefore to find them she must be intelligent and extremely evil
to brainstorm them up. The absolute worst part about my villain is how she strongly believes she is the
hero in the situation! On the other hand, she does have a majority of the same powers as the hero, she
just uses them in the wrong way. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Similarities And Mechanistic Theories Within A Pluralistic...
Counterfactuals and mechanistic theories present two distinct, although perhaps not incompatible
causal theories. In this paper, I will outline them, contrast their basic strengths, and finally aim to
argue in favour of a monist mechanistic account, in particular focusing on resolving two general
arguments against mechanistic theory to which the answer is commonly to adopt a pluralistic account.
Let s begin by considering our two causal accounts: First, counterfactuals centre on the notion that
alterations to the cause make a difference to it s effect. In this way, the relationship between the cause,
and the effect can be said to be causal so long as if I change the cause, the effect will be different.
Thus, if I were to throw a ball at a window, and it broke, then I could call the relationship between the
throwing of the ball and the window s breaking to be causal, so long as had I not thrown the ball, a
different effect (in this case, the window not breaking) would have occurred. By contrast, mechanistic
theory focuses on the identifiable linking processes between the cause and effect. Salmon, Dowe,
Machamer and Glennan all present accounts of mechanistic theory, however it is Glennan s approach
which I will focus on, as he has the most success in forming the underlying intuitions into clear
elements. He begins by identifying the component elements deemed necessary for a mechanistic
process, which includes the interaction of a series of parts, acting according to

John Marsden The Rabbits Analysis
The Rabbits is an award winning, children s book written by John Marsden and illustrated by Shaun
Tan. Uncovering the history of colonisation in a rich allegorical fable using marsupials and rabbits as
symbolic groups, along with simple and sparse dialect. Both the text and illustrations convey
marsupials being invaded and colonized by foreign rabbits. There is a curious and harmonious first
encounter of the two groups, but this is soon replaced with fear and resentment as the rabbits begin to
change the marsupials world for the worst. The Rabbits bring foreign customs and a completely new
culture, transforming the land as they overthrow it heartlessly. Stealing its original inhabitants from
the only home they have ever known for centuries. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The marsupials, who represented Indigenous Australians were brown in colour, had large round
thighs, a softly curved face, round ears and big innocent eyes topped with body paint to symbolise the
aboriginal culture. The round features, soft curves and big eyes made it obvious to a young audience
that they were innocent and victimised. Within the marsupial group, they also incorporated roles that
were obvious to a young audience though symbolism, mothers holding baby numbats, the head of the
tribe standing taller and being dominate through body language etc. This helped the younger audience
to see and relate from a different perspective. In contrast, the rabbits, who resembled the intruder, had
little red eyes, long sharp ears, wore shoes, were stark white in colour, and had upper bodies that
resembled a boat. Clearly, the sharp, harsh features were designed to make the Rabbits look scary and
mean, and the embodiment of the boat was to symbolise the boats that they came on. Within the
rabbits there were a scientist, a society rabbit, a convict, a lieutenant, and the captain, these characters
were made obvious through symbolism in costume such as flags, the scientist holding a flask and the
captain wearing a captain hat etc. All were simplified and obvious characters to child. Symbolism
within the simplified costumes has assisted to dramatically convey the story to its intended

How Pearl Harbor Changed American History

On December 8,1941, the U.S. declared war on Japan. Then the U.S. declared war on Germany and
Italy after they did the same to us. This is how the U.S. got involved in World War II. The attack on
Pearl Harbor was a bad day for United States and there are a lot of people still sad that it had
happened. The morning after the attack on December 8,1941, was a beautiful day until the U.S. was

Hinduism Three Ways
Assess the Three Ways of Hinduism in terms of their ability to provide a sense of meaning,
community, and ultimately salvation. In your view, are these ways capable of providing a helpful
means toward achieving these goals? Explain.
When it comes to how Hinduism views meaning, community, and salvation, it largely rests upon the
three notions found within the idea of the three different ways. Such ways refer to the way of works,
the way of knowledge, and the way of devotion, each of which plays an important part within the
theological framework of Hinduism. The first one would be the way of works which refers to the
ritual and also legal requirements as administered by the priests. The way of knowledge refers to the
mystical path which arrested and is focused upon the recognition of ... Show more content on

The final would be that of the way of devotion which is based upon the devotion that one gives to
their God among the deities in Hinduism. THus this brings up the question as if such means are
capable of achieving the goals of meaning, community, and salvation as listed? As a Westerner with
little knowledge of Hinduism and who adheres to a different faith my own views may be conflicting
but I would say that it is so. I base my judgment that such ways are sufficient since in many aspects
they parallel aspects within Christianity. For example, the acts of devotion, the meditation on the
scriptures, and performing good works are all aspects which are considered important when it comes
to living a Christ like life. Of course, fundamental differences exist within such

The Financial Crisis Of 2008 Essay
The 2008 financial meltdown resulted in the most treacherous investment landscape observed since
the great depression. The most notorious issue was the subprime mortgage crisis, which had a ripple
effect felt through every market in the world. The banks, whose leverage rate should never have been
higher than two times capitalization, surged as high as thirty to forty times market cap. With this level
of exposure, any unforeseen market fluctuations could mean disaster. Lehman Brothers, the oldest
investment bank on Wall Street, went bankrupt and thousands lost their jobs. Outside of finance,
thousands of companies in the United States and abroad had to fire significant portions of their
workforce, thus furthering the economic decline and plunging the US into an economic recession. In
the late 1990s, Congress repealed the legislation separating commercial and investment banks, which
resulted in investment banks overreaching their bounds. The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act
of 2008 was enacted due to the effects of the subprime mortgage crisis, which allowed the US
Treasury to spend billions of dollars to bail out the investment banks by purchasing distressed assets.
However, the bailout plan has created a debate over whether it was a good idea for the government to
bailout the investment banks. Also, if the government fared better or worse in the years following the
bailout.
The financial crash of 2008 created two paradigms, bailout and bankruptcy and to this day it is

A Study On My Paramedic License Essay
As a woman on the brink of becoming a grandmother for the first time and working on my Paramedic
license, I do not want to become a statistic and suffer from a back injury that so many first responders
suffer from these days. There are so many variables to staying healthy such as eating right, staying fit,
and learning proper mechanics for lifting heavy loads. When taking these variables into account, how
can someone in my profession improve the quality of our work environment to insure a better
percentage for a lesser chance of injury? Will better equipment improve these variables as well? Do
the costs for better equipment outweigh the cost of recovery? It is my belief that not only health,
fitness, and education will reduce our chance for injury but better, more efficient, equipment will also
assist in longer, lasting careers. Back injuries are not foreign in our line of work. According to Bryan
Fass (fitness expert), injury to the knees and lower back, overexertion injuries, and mechanical strain
has remained almost constant. (Fass, 2009) Approximately 8 out of 100 EMS responders will suffer an
injury compared to 1 out of 100 municipal and general labor workers, a 62 percent difference (Fass,
2009). What this means is that there are quite a few paramedics suffering injuries and currently out of
work. These statistics are astronomical and chances for public safety personnel to make it to
retirement age are slim, as most leave on medical disability. Just as the

Implementation Of The Information Security Management System

Officially, a militia is part of the organized armed forces of a country that is called upon only in an
emergency. There have been paramilitary groups with revolutionary ideas throughout America s
history, but today s militia movement is a new more organized and violent presence (Meyers). Today
the militia are unofficial citizens armies organized by private individuals, usually with
antigovernment, far right agendas. They rationalize that the American people need armed force to help
defend themselves against an increasingly oppressive government that is becoming part of a global

Militia growth appears to have been steady throughout 1995 and the first half of 1996 (Sonder, 2000).
The primary illegal activities among militia groups are related to weapons and explosives. Militia
groups in Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, California, and a
number of other states have seen members arrested for possession of illegal weapons and explosives.
People in the movement tend to give inflated numbers, in order to make their movement seem larger,
and at the same time, because they are so paranoid, will refuse to allow people to actually count their
numbers. In addition, groups go in and out of existence all the time, and there are many people who
are part of the movement, without being card carrying members of any one particular group. There are
some groups few people know about because they are underground. All these factors together make it
impossible to say with any certainty how many militia groups there are. The number of groups is
certainly in the hundreds.
The militia movement has many people who could be called law abiding citizens. However, many
members conduct criminal activity (Dees, 1996). The most common is the collection of illegal
weapons and explosives. Sometimes these illegal arsenals are stunning in their size. Since militia
members tend to believe that they have the right to own whatever sort of weapon they

ways. The headdress was a black felt hat with one side pinned up with an American eagle, which was
the US s coat of arms. The coat was an almost knee length Prussian blue jacket. The rank was worn on
the coat sleeve. The overcoat was a sky blue and took after the french model. Only officers wore

Soft-Soap Empire By Anna Mcclintock Analysis
This research paper would like to enlighten you with the idea that in the reading of Soft Soaping
Empire by Anna McClintock, brilliantly explains how commodities in capitalism arose and then was
linked immediately to the dominant social dialogue of its time, which is here an imperial point of
view. In order to accomplish her attempt, soap is an intelligent choice. As she mentions several times
throughout her essay, soap is a highly portable commodity relating to hygiene. It is a very personal
item, yet it was one of the first big advertisement campaign s main subject. Hygiene is one of the
important signs of western civilization; therefore, soap s relation to hygiene creates a natural bond
with colonized people. McClintock s essay is consisted of five sections with following subheadings,

since the soap was a handy and inexpensive commodity that filled a gap in the domestic market, it
became a very popular item. In the advertisements of soap, majestic addresses are usually used. One
of the classical features of such advertisements is the black kids, who are getting washed, and another
one is absence of women. With those advertisements on the boxes of commodities, these discourses
could travel into the private lives of British people, and the commodity racism was much more

across international borders every year as of 2005 (PBS). These numbers need to change, and there are
multiple organizations trying to make a change, it is possible for these numbers to change drastically
with the help of social media. If activist and organizations could use social media effectively, social
and economic issues would change drastically. Despite the fact that Operation Underground Railroad
uses social media , the activist Laurie Holden, and the organization itself does not seem to incite its
audience to get actively involved in the cause because it does not give much direction for how, where,
or when to take action. Operation Underground Railroad was founded in 2013 by Tim Ballard who
was a former CIA agent. Operation Underground Railroad is a non profit organization designed to

  • 2. Front Line Supervisors In the profession of occupational safety and health, the conversational interpretation style would be most common amongst front line supervisors. Though some regulations provide clearly defined measurements, many regulations enforced by OSHA provide unspecified instructions for the front line supervisors to comply with. For instance, 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii) states, The point of operation of machines whose operation exposes an employee to injury, shall be guarded. The guarding device shall be in conformity with any appropriate standards therefor, or, in the absence of applicable specific standards, shall be so designed and constructed as to prevent the operator from having any part of his body in the danger zone during the operating cycle. In this case, what are the additional appropriate standards? How specific does a standard need to be for consideration? Where is the designated danger zone? ... Undermining one s safety to spotlight additional areas can be highly dangerous and even punishable. SeaWorld of Florida, LLC v. Thomas Perez, No. 12 1375 demonstrates a case where entertaining a crowd, political view, received greater attention than the safety of the trainer. As defined by Dr. Hayden, conversational interpretation allows the front line supervisor to interchange thoughts with the law or expert to grasp the complete context of the legal situation. Therefore, front line supervisors most commonly practicing conversational interpretation can more adequately protect the given situation after acquiring a greater ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Summary Of Kill War Ayana Jakes English 1010 Essay 2 Draft 2 Sabrina Blaum Sept. 22, 2016 Words Kill War The picture portrays speaking out. Telling leaders to talk about the problems you have with each other instead of killing the innocent. Wars all over the world are not being talked about enough. It s sad that we as people have simply became comfortable with people killing others simply because they are doing something we do not like. We also don t act upon the killing of thousands of women and their children in other countries. An article states that talking more equals less fighting. Choose dialogue over death and destruction. That is a sentiment that we can all stand behind. It is not too late to create a world where words kill wars. Women in Iran are seen as property. They have no rights. A young Iranian feminist stated that her and many other women are against war and they should scream it loud and they shouldn t be afraid of being heard. Many of those women want children, and want to know what it s like to be free. They also want to find jobs and be independent. The war and the law is hindering many of those things from happening. The physical, sexual, and violent environment children are exposed to during war is devastating. It destroys their outlook on the people that are supposed to be protecting them. Many children die or fall ill from the pollution from the war. Many doctors and nurses have been killed or left the country. The children and adults who are sick or hurt has no ... While many band s highest charting singles might be about the perils or joys of love, They Might Be Giants biggest hit, 1990 s Birdhouse In Your Soul is sung from the perspective of child s nightlight, musing on its job and on the evolution from lighthouse to nightlight. The Johns would then play their instruments (Linnell on accordion, banjo, and woodwinds, Flansburgh on guitar, trumpet, and harmonica) and sing in time to these tracks. On certain numbers, however, a backing track wasn t required, and the John s would create their own backing tracks on stage in a number of different ways. This included, and still includes to this day The Stick . The Stick is a long piece of wood with a omni directional microphone attached to the bottom of it with duct tape. This is slammed against the stage by John Flansburgh (or in the early 90 s, a fan from the audience) to a repetitive beat over which Linnell would play the baritone saxophone, or keyboards to their song Lie Still, Little Bottle while Flansburgh sang. An even more bizarre backing track can be found on a 1989 bootleg live recording from a West German performance of the B Side Stormy Pinkness , in which Linnell instructs the audience to stomp on the floor in ¾ time while chanting the word Love! . (They Might Be Giants, 2002) Over this Flansburgh and Linnell play their instruments and sing. The live set up, atypical instrumentation most of TMBG s contemporaries were guitars, bass guitar, drum kit, and potentially augmented with keyboards shows just one way how They Might Be Giants acted against the dominant idea of what a band ... Reynolds Industries acquired Nabisco brands in one of the largest takeovers in business history. In earlier years the company was called N.B.C. In 1934 N.B.C. met with the great success when it launched Ritz Crackers as a new prestige item. In 1941 the letters N.B.C. in the official trademark were exchanged for the word Nabisco. The change was part to reduce confusion with the recently established National Broadcasting Company. During World War II Nabisco was again faced with the problem of rationed flour, butter, sugar, and oil. Recipes were altered and substitutes were used. This was a troubled time for Nabisco. During the Depression, Nabisco had neglected many capital improvements, and many bakeries were outdated and in need of renovation. In 1945 the Nabisco board elected the young and energetic George Coopers as president. Due to Coopers new attitude he began to modernize Nabisco s bakeries. Within ten years Coopers had spent more than $150 million renovating old plants and building new ones. The reconstruction program culminated in 1958 with the opening of an ultra modern bakery and research center in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. They have architectural designs and stories that make each unique. The word antebellum originates from Latin, meaning before war . When used with the word architecture, it signifies tasteful plantation homes that were built in the South during thirty years after the American Civil War. This architecture was first presented by the Anglo Americans who relocated to the area after the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. Although each is distinctly different, they are similar to a degree. The homes all resemble each other with the luxurious and proportioned look, centered entrance ways, balconies, and columns and posts. Some highlights most antebellum homes have are evenly spaced windows, gabled roofs, even facades, grand staircases, formal ballrooms, Greek pillars, and covered porches. All of these extravagant features suggest the wealthy and power of landowners (Craven). Mont Helena is an antebellum home located in Rolling Fork, MS. I will first introduce the two basic equations that the Solow model is built around, discussing the main assumptions made along the way. I will then present the key equation of the Solow model and discuss its results and implications. I will then address why it is desirable to use log linearization, and how it can be used to study the dynamics near the steady state. We will then briefly look into the empirical results of Mankiw et al. (1992) and what they mean for the Solow model. We begin with the aggregate production function of the model. Let us denote output (Y), capital (K), labour (L) and the index of productive efficiency (A). The production function can then be written as: Y=F(K,AL) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Uncle Tom Stereotypes In a time where the media has possess a strong impression on the minds of those consuming it now has become the jobs of directors, producers, and film companies to be mindful of the stereotypes they are putting forth with their content. How can we erase the negative connotations that we associate with races when these images are being maintained in the media? The Tom or Uncle Tom stereotype of the well mannered elderly negro is one that should have vanished by now, but as of late it has been revived by award winning filmmaker Quentin Tarrantino in his blockbuster film Django Unchained. The stereotype had previously reared its head in Disney s live action film Song of the South. The aforementioned Disney film was made in 1946, while the Tarrantino film was released in 2012. Were those 66 years not enough to lay to rest a foolish racial stereotype? According to Donald Bogle, the characterization of A Tom is someone who is: chased harassed, hounded, flogged, enslaved, and insulted, they keep the faith, n er turn against their white massas, and remain hearty (Bogle 5). Early incarnations of The Tom were often white men in blackface on minstrel stages, who dressed up in tattered clothing and put on a receding and grayed hairline. These actors were on stage shucking and jiving singing songs in broken English. • 15. Hitler Became Chancellor in January 1933 Because He Was... Hitler s assumption of power on the 30th of January 1933 was seemingly due to the mass popularity of the Nazi party. However it was far off achieving the 50% majority it needed to put Hitler automatically in power. As well as popularity, backstairs intrigue and the short sightedness of those in power enabled Hitler to become Chancellor. The weaknesses of Germany s political leadership were fundamental to Hitler s success. In some senses the popularity of the party only provided an opening, available for exploitation. Undoubtedly, Nazi popularity placed pressure on government and on President Hindenburg to make Hitler Chancellor. Their astonishing rise in votes since 810 000 in 1928 to 13.75 million in July 1932 was extraordinary. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Meeting with Kurt Von Schröder, Papen not only in turn helped solve the Nazi financial debts to ensure the continuation of the party, but presented an opportunity to Hitler which he otherwise would not have been offered. Papen convinced Hindenburg the Nazi support could be harnessed and that its ambitions and extremist policies contained through safety features. The President agreed to only meet with Hitler when the Vice Chancellor, Von Papen, was present. Only two cabinet ministers were included. By offering this, Von Papen made perhaps the most fatal underestimation of the 20th century. He had had the responsibility of being decisive, thorough and unfaltering when Hindenburg could not be and so his weak acceptance of Hitler s demands when he was perhaps not even in a position to demand is surely a cause of Hitler s appointment. Debatably, this arrangement was a production of Hitler s own political skill as opposed to, or as well as, Papen s great failure. Hitler s opportunism, vehement desire for power and ability to manipulate people was crucial for his success. Meeting with Von Papen in December 1932, he resolutely demanded the Chancellorship. Whereas Strasser faltered in making botched agreements with Von Schleicher for a lesser position, Hitler held out against odds. • 18. Synthesis Of Grignard Reagent And Benzaldehyde Introduction: This experiment involved the synthesis of diphenylmethanal from phenylmagnesium bromide which is a Grignard reagent, and benzaldehyde which is a carbonyl group. The goal of this experiment was to investigate the ability of the Grignard reaction to yield the theoretical predicted product and evaluate its efficiency. The Grignard reaction is an important reaction because of its ability to allow the formation of carbon carbon bonds. These formations of C C sigma bonds, then allow for the formation or making of large or complex synthetic molecules from very simple reagents. These complex molecules are then used in many different areas such as the pharmaceutical industry. Also, one must note that Grignard reagents are strong nucleophiles that can attack carbonyl groups that can form substituted alcohols after the protonation step. The reaction occurred as follows. The first step consisted in the formation of the Grignard reagent. That was done through the use of an organic halide provided in the lab and Magnesium. The organic halide used was bromobenzene. The second step consisted of reacting the Grignard reagent formed in the first step with benzaldehyde. The third and final step consisted of using the product of the second step and diluting it with HCl (Hydrochloric Acid). Finally, the product obtained of this whole reaction was diphenylmethonal ( please refer to the drawing below for a more visual approach). The creation of this product can also be ... It was produced by Focus Features and follows the dysfunctional love story of Joel and Clementine. The film itself despite being strongly influenced by Hollywood pays homage to other film movements such as surrealism and Soviet montage. The film in itself was a struggle to be categorised, thought it has been described as a romance, black comedy and many others that will later be explored. The director aimed to make this film timeless and still stands to be as effective today as it was when it was released. Production Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is the brainchild of director Michel Gondry and scriptwriter Charlie Kaufman. Steve Golin on of the crew on the film was quoted saying the two complement each other. Michel is truly gifted at visualisation. But he also has a lot of soul. • 24. Similarities And Mechanistic Theories Within A Pluralistic... Counterfactuals and mechanistic theories present two distinct, although perhaps not incompatible causal theories. In this paper, I will outline them, contrast their basic strengths, and finally aim to argue in favour of a monist mechanistic account, in particular focusing on resolving two general arguments against mechanistic theory to which the answer is commonly to adopt a pluralistic account. Let s begin by considering our two causal accounts: First, counterfactuals centre on the notion that alterations to the cause make a difference to it s effect. In this way, the relationship between the cause, and the effect can be said to be causal so long as if I change the cause, the effect will be different. Thus, if I were to throw a ball at a window, and it broke, then I could call the relationship between the throwing of the ball and the window s breaking to be causal, so long as had I not thrown the ball, a different effect (in this case, the window not breaking) would have occurred. By contrast, mechanistic theory focuses on the identifiable linking processes between the cause and effect. Salmon, Dowe, Machamer and Glennan all present accounts of mechanistic theory, however it is Glennan s approach which I will focus on, as he has the most success in forming the underlying intuitions into clear elements. He begins by identifying the component elements deemed necessary for a mechanistic process, which includes the interaction of a series of parts, acting according to ... Within the marsupial group, they also incorporated roles that were obvious to a young audience though symbolism, mothers holding baby numbats, the head of the tribe standing taller and being dominate through body language etc. This helped the younger audience to see and relate from a different perspective. The most notorious issue was the subprime mortgage crisis, which had a ripple effect felt through every market in the world. The banks, whose leverage rate should never have been higher than two times capitalization, surged as high as thirty to forty times market cap. With this level of exposure, any unforeseen market fluctuations could mean disaster. Lehman Brothers, the oldest investment bank on Wall Street, went bankrupt and thousands lost their jobs. Outside of finance, thousands of companies in the United States and abroad had to fire significant portions of their workforce, thus furthering the economic decline and plunging the US into an economic recession. In the late 1990s, Congress repealed the legislation separating commercial and investment banks, which resulted in investment banks overreaching their bounds. The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 was enacted due to the effects of the subprime mortgage crisis, which allowed the US Treasury to spend billions of dollars to bail out the investment banks by purchasing distressed assets. However, the bailout plan has created a debate over whether it was a good idea for the government to bailout the investment banks. A Study On My Paramedic License Essay As a woman on the brink of becoming a grandmother for the first time and working on my Paramedic license, I do not want to become a statistic and suffer from a back injury that so many first responders suffer from these days. There are so many variables to staying healthy such as eating right, staying fit, and learning proper mechanics for lifting heavy loads. When taking these variables into account, how can someone in my profession improve the quality of our work environment to insure a better percentage for a lesser chance of injury? Will better equipment improve these variables as well? Do the costs for better equipment outweigh the cost of recovery? It is my belief that not only health, fitness, and education will reduce our chance for injury but better, more efficient, equipment will also assist in longer, lasting careers. Back injuries are not foreign in our line of work. According to Bryan Fass (fitness expert), injury to the knees and lower back, overexertion injuries, and mechanical strain has remained almost constant. (Fass, 2009) Approximately 8 out of 100 EMS responders will suffer an injury compared to 1 out of 100 municipal and general labor workers, a 62 percent difference (Fass, 2009). Militia groups in Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, California, and a number of other states have seen members arrested for possession of illegal weapons and explosives. People in the movement tend to give inflated numbers, in order to make their movement seem larger, and at the same time, because they are so paranoid, will refuse to allow people to actually count their numbers. In addition, groups go in and out of existence all the time, and there are many people who are part of the movement, without being card carrying members of any one particular group. There are some groups few people know about because they are underground. All these factors together make it impossible to say with any certainty how many militia groups there are.
