Persian Architecture Essay
Comparing and Analyzing the Architecture in Ancient India and Persia In ancient civilizations,
architecture was fundamental to revealing certain aspects of a culture, such as its leaders and their
communication with the citizens. Rulers that controlled society utilized temples and buildings to
express their power and communicate with their subjects. Cultures were able to express their abilities
through architecture, along with their beliefs and the functionality of their society. Architecture
allowed cultures to leave behind physical evidence of their existence and further display their
ideologies, capabilities, and accomplishments. The exploration of architecture in ancient Persia and
India reveals many correlations between the two cultures. Ancient Persian architecture displayed the
Persians liberal policy, in incorporating diverse cultures, and their intricate designs, most of which,
relating to royalty. Meanwhile, ancient Indian architecture exhibited close resemblance to Persian
architecture, and the Indians also used their building as an expression of royalty and the power that the
ruler held.
The Persians borrowed from other conquered cultures because they lacked strong artistic traditions.
Persian architecture was known to include echoes of Egyptian temple Gates and hypostyle halls,
Hittite audience chambers, and Mesopotamian sculpted animal motifs ( Fazio ). The application of
outside cultural influences to Persian architecture signified that Persian architects

Dr Mallard s Death And How Mrs. Mallard
1. My initial impression of this work was that it was going to be a story of sadness. The beginning
focuses on Brently Mallard s death and how Mrs. Mallard would deal with this. I also realized that the
narrator was an outside unknown character. This story was narrated in the third person as well.
2. The genre of this selection is fiction.
3. The exposition of the story starts with a husband and wife. The wife loved him at times but still they
were together. Her husband has gone off and was believed to apart of the railroad disaster, which was
the cause of his death. The rising action of the story is when Mrs. Mallard heard the news of her
husband death and the way she would face it. Like the story said with a paralyzed inability to accept
its significance she was not sure what to think or do. She dealt with the thought that all of the sudden
her life changed. She felt something she could not identify coming to her. The climax of the story is
when she had realized that she was free. She no longer would live for someone else but instead she
would live her life for herself. This idea brought her body a type of joy, and exhilaration she could not
describe. The falling action in the story is when the joy was beginning to affect her body too much. It
was beginning to make her ill but she went on with this joy. The denouement in the story is when the
joy killed her and then a few seconds after her husband came in. She believed that she was free from
him cause of his death

Disscuss the Contingency Approach to Management
|
Definition of contingency(noun) by the Oxford Dictionary noun (plural contingencies) * a future event
or circumstance which is possible but cannot be predicted with certainty * examples: a detailed
contract which attempts to provide for all possible contingencies * a provision for a possible event or
circumstance: stores were kept as a contingency against a blockade * an incidental expense: allow an

One attraction of the contingency approach among theorists and practitioners alike is its situational
perspective. Those interested in research issues regarding organization and management can use the
contingency perspective to explain why some factors influence situations in one setting but have
virtually no influence in another setting. Indeed, one objective of research within the contingency
framework is to specify those dimensions and conditions that do affect a situation and those that do
not. For the manager, the requirement from the contingency perspective is to identify which technique
will, in a particular situation, best contribute to the attainment of organizational goals. For instance,
under some circumstances, an authoritarian leadership style may be more appropriate than a
leadership style that tries to get workers internally motivated.tuation. While the contingency approach
is useful in recognizing that the complexity involved in understanding human and organizational
systems makes it difficult to develop universal principles of management, there have been several
criticisms of the approach. For one, it has been pointed out that the logical extension of the
contingency approach is that all situations are unique. If this is true, then management can be
practiced only by intuition and

Bilingual Education Act Report
to Baker (1997), this legislation was designed to assist Spanish speaking students who were failing in
school. Senator Yarborough explained that the bill was needed because of the failure of the school
system to educate Spanish speaking students that was reflected in comparative dropout rates (Lyons,
1990). The Hispanic dropout rate was close to 75 percent in certain areas (Ovando et al., 2006). In
1968, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Bilingual Education Act into law, which indicated the
first commitment made by the U.S. government to address the special needs that ELLs bring to public
schools (Crawford, 1989). According to Wiese Garcia (2001), the BEA of 1968 represented the main

This legislation undermined the English only legislation still official in some states (Baker, 1997). The
original Bilingual Education Act of 1968 had the following main purposes: (1) increase English
language skills. (2) maintain and perhaps increase mother tongue skills, and (3) support the cultural
heritage of the student (Leibowitz, 1980, p. 24). According to Crawford (1989), the White House
exerted pressure on Congress to approve no funding for Title VII during the first year. In 1969, a
scanty appropriation of $7.5 million was sufficient to just fund projects that served 27,000 ELLs

Importance to Be on Time in the Military Essay example
It is important to be on time, both in the Army and in the civilian sector, for multiple reasons. Among
these reasons, the ones that stand out to me the most are unprofessionalism, being fired, receiving
adverse disciplinary actions, and failing your co workers/comrades. Being late or tardy to work can
cause not only yourself but everyone at your place of employment problems. When being late or tardy,
you are showing that you are not a professional. It can also be assumed that you do not care or respect
your job the way you should or need to. When your employer begins to think that you are careless
with your job or don t care about your job they can decide that you are no longer a valuable asset to

I also know that I showed a lack of leadership, selfless service, and responsibility, which are three of
my army values. I know that my inability to leadership could later affect a promotion and it affects the
trust that my leadership has towards me. I know in order to be a successful soldier I must show
leadership qualities at all times. I know by me not showing up for work made it look like I don t have
selfless service. I know that I must put my nations, my units, and my battle buddies needs before my
own in order to accomplish the mission successfully and smoothly. I know that when I failed to show
up for duty that I not only showed lack of responsibility but also a lot discipline. I could write this
essay and fill it with tons of excuses as to why I was late to my point of duty, but the fact of the matter
is that I was late and there is no excuse, being on time and at the right place of duty is extremely
important. When I am late it makes everyone else run behind because they were too busy trying to
figure out where I was and what I was doing to cause me not to be at my place of duty. Not to mention
that when everything is running behind and then we all have to end up staying way later than we
would have had to stay in the first place. It makes the whole day extremely hectic, because everyone is

CSI Effect In Court Cases
The CSI Effect is the belief that television crime shows are effecting decisions made in the court
rooms from jurors. Prosecutors and Judges believe that these shows are causing jurors to be out of
touch with reality when it comes to making a decision about a case in the court room. The Jurors are
said to be out of touch with reality because they have a demand for conclusive scientific evidence.
People who experience the CSI Effect tend to think they are experts in the field. Many forensic
professionals have faced the occasional person at a crime scene telling them how to do their jobs the
way they saw it on CSI (The CSI Effect Crime Museum, n.d.).
The CSI Effect was first described in the media as a phenomenon resulting from viewing forensic ...

Unfortunately, life does not always imitate art. Evidence proved that in a number of Durnal studies,
that exposure to forensic science television drama series has altered the American legal system in
complex and far reaching ways. Jurors think they have a thorough understanding of science they have
seen presented on television, when they do not. In a case cited by Durnal, jurors in a murder trial
brought to the judge s attention that a bloody coat introduced as evidence was not tested for DNA. The
defendant admitted being present at the murder scene, so the test would not have thrown light on the
identity of the true culprit. The judge stated that television is to thank for jurors knowing what DNA
tests could do, but not when it was appropriate to use them. Another study revealed 62% of defense
lawyers and 69% of judges agreed that jurors had unrealistic expectations of forensic evidence.
Approximately half of the respondents in each category felt that jury selection was taking longer than
it used to, because they had to be sure that prospective jurors were not judging scientific evidence by

The Different Factors of Individual Language Learners in Second Language Acquisition
Recently, Second Language Acquisition (SLA) play important role to language learning and teaching

language subsequent to learning their first one as young children, and to the process of learning that
language that the additional language is called a second language (L2), even though it may actually be
the third, fourth, or tenth to be acquired. It is also commonly called a target language (TL), which

Intelligence also has some connection with school performance that there are links between
intelligence and aptitude in classroom, as might be expected (Cook, 2008 cited Genesee, 1976) On the
other hand, intelligence may play a less important role in language learning that focuses more on
communication and interaction (Cummins, 1980). Hence, it is important to keep in mind that
intelligence is complex and that a person has many kinds of abilities and strengths (Brown, 2000;
Johnson, 2008). For the second cognitive variables is aptitude that refers to the ability to learn quickly
(Carroll, 1991) and is thought to predict success in learning or the natural ability to learn a language
that is thought to be a combination of various abilities, such as the ability to identify sound patterns in
a new language, the ability to recognise the different grammatical functions of words in sentences,
Rote Learning ability, and the ability to infer language rules (Richards et.al., 1995; Cook, 2008). In
term of Language aptitude refers to the potential that a person has for learning languages. This
potential is often evaluated using formal aptitude tests (Modern Language Aptitude Test (MLAT),
which predict the degree of success the candidate will have with a new language. Aptitude tests vary
but many include evaluation of ability to manage sounds, grammatical

civilizations have had a sport of some kind. Sports are a way for us to get exercise and expend energy.
However, in modern society, sports have become much more competitive and more popular. There are

These boots move the forces caused by a fall to the knee rather than the ankle or lower leg. The ACL
injury usually occurs when the knee is forcefully twisted, or hyper extended. Many patients recall
hearing a loud pop when the ligament tears, and feel the knee give way. This injury has received a
great deal of attention from orthopedic surgeons over the past 15 years and very successful operations
to reconstruct the torn anterior cruciate ligament have been performed. The tearing oh the posterior
cruciate ligament is another sports related knee injury, though less common than the ACL. This injury
can occur when the knee is forcefully twisted or hyper extended, but other ligaments are usually
injured or torn, before the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) is torn in these injuries. The most
common way for the PCL alone to be injured is from a direct blow to the front of the knee while the
knee is bent. If the tibia moves too far back the PCL can rupture. This is a common cause of injury to
the PCL during an automobile accident. As the automobile strikes another and stops suddenly, the
front passenger or driver slides forward. The bent knee hits the dashboard just below the kneecap. This
forces the tibia backward on the femur tearing the PCL. The same force can occur during a fall on the
bent knee, where the force of the fall on the tibia pushes it back

Reflection On My Math Class
Since starting this class, I feel as though my background knowledge of math would have been enough
for me to feel comfortable in the classroom but, because of the readings and in class tasks with my
peers I ve become more knowledgeable on many terms and practices of math.
It is clear that within the classroom of my peers we all complete a math problem differently. Some
students answer questions the completely different way than I do but, we get the same answers. For
example, when we were asked to add simple math numbers, two of the four of us thought the same
way. While to other people found different ways to get the answer. Amongst the four of us there were
three different ways to solve one simple addition question. This small task opened my mind
completely. I can see that was in my group of four people, there were three strategies to answer one
question. I can only imagine a number of ways a class of 30 students comes up with. This will
enhance my understanding as a teacher because I know that every student does not think the same and
there is more than one right way to solve a question. This class has also shown me that using
manipulatives is one of the best tools to enhance the students understanding. Using manipulatives will
not only help the students, but it will help me as a teacher to understand the student s steps in solving
questions. The best example in class was when my group was given coloured bears and asked to show

The Fossil Of Fossil Fuels
Fossil fuels are formed from decayed prehistoric plants and animals that lived millions of years ago
(Science Daily). According to the United States Department of Energy, when ancient living plants and
animals died, they decomposed and became buried under layers of mud, rock, and sand. After millions
of years, these plants and animals slowly decomposed into organic material. Depending on what
combination of plant and/or animal debris was decomposed, different types of fossil fuels were
formed. These fossil fuels are then converted into coal, oil, and natural gas (United States Department
of Energy). With this in mind, fossil fuels take millions of years to form and once used they can never
be used again, leaving them to be known as nonrenewable resources.
Each type of fossil fuel releases different substances into the air when being used. For example coal is
a hard rich like substance that is made up of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and varying amounts
of sulfur. Obviously, when burned these elements are released into the atmosphere (California Energy
Commission). Coal is available in almost every country in the world, with the biggest reserves in the
United States, Russia, China, and India.
For over centuries, fossil fuels have been used to fuel houses, cars, and work places, along with many
others establishments. Fossil fuels are a necessity in the average persons life. As stated by Clarkson
University, of all the energy consumed in the United States, 85.6% is

Much Ado About Noting
Blindness is only a disability to those that are mentally eyeless. Shakespeare being a man of keen
mental sight, he has had the ability to portray mental blindness in several of his plays. Being one of
the best writers, he is actively able to capture the four elements of a well made play being peripetiea,
denouement, timely entrances and exits and incredibly gripping scene entrances and conclusions.
Having written 38 plays with two original plots, Shakespeare expresses his themes through passionate
romance, sorrow filled tragedy, inviting history and hilarious comedy. One of his most famous
comedies is the play called, Much Ado About Nothing. In this play the comedic aspects greatly
emphasize the important theme of self knowledge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Fashion Illustration Essay
Illustration is an art that allows to create an amazing aesthetics that is hard to remake or achieve with
the same aesthetic value using digital technologies or photography because of the emotional
atmosphere, transfer of mood of the work of art and detailed visualization of images. The term
illustration itself has a several meanings, but the most known is art design . In the past, illustration due
to its characteristics been only associated with books and magazines as a support for a text. However,
as the time passed illustration became an individual type of art that no longer need to play a
supporting role for anything. This evolution leads illustration forward to the division of a broader term
into narrower subtopics, which introduced the creation of fashion illustration. From that point, it was
clear that fashion illustration is one of the oldest and most important movements in the history of

Internal Devaluation And Its Effects On The Economy
Furthermore, the Fund also recognized that after nearly four years of internal devaluation, the
economic strategy had not succeeded. The idea of an internal devaluation is that if you create enough
mass unemployment and push wages down far enough, the economy can become more competitive
due to lower labor costs. This allows exports to grow, and import competing industries to also do
better, improving the trade balance. Since exports add to economic growth and employment, and
reduced imports do the same, the economy can recover in this scenario due to increasing net exports
(exports minus imports). Normally this could be attempted through a devaluation of the currency. But
the troika has only recently shown any intention of trying to push the euro s value down against
external trading partners; and of course since it is a common currency, the more depressed economies
within the currency union can t devalue against the others (e.g. Spain versus Germany). This leaves
internal devaluation as the remaining hope for recovery for countries such as Spain, Greece, and
Portugal. In other words, despite the negative impact of the fiscal austerity, the theory is that internal
devaluation based on lower labor costs can drive recovery based on the growth of net exports.
But it took years to reach this point despite crushing levels of unemployment and mandated reductions
in the social wage (e.g., pensions and health care). The Fund finds that from 2008 2012, there was

Seventh Grade Probability Carnival
The seventh grade probability carnival was one of the highlights of my fall term. Throughout the
preparation, execution and reflection phases of the carnival, I truly enjoyed myself and felt as though I
learned a lot about both experimental the theoretical probability.
In total, 42 second grade students and teachers played my game during the probability carnival. Out of
those 42, five won two tickets, four won three tickets, six won four tickets, four won five tickets, five
won six tickets, three won seven tickets, four won eight tickets, and five won the jackpot amount,
which was nine tickets, as displayed in the table below:
Since my game cost only one ticket to play, and the lowest possible amount of tickets that you could
win was two, the probability of gaining tickets in my game was 100%, or 1/1. Since the numbers of
winners in each category of my game was not very spread out, neither were the experimental
probabilities. In total, the experimental probabilities of winning two, three, five and nine tickets were
all 5/42. The experimental probabilities of winning eight and five tickets were both 2/21, and the
experimental probabilities of winning seven and four tickets were 1/14 and 1/7. All in all, I had a very
good time at the probability carnival. I think that the second graders were very interested in my game

student and an artist. I think that the probability carnival has been one of the most memorable and
enjoyable projects that I have done while at Park, and I can t wait to see what this year s sixth graders

History Of The Watergate Scandal
Throughout history, the American people have had a hard time instilling trust in their government and
political leaders. Between the numerous scandals involving United States presidents and other
political leaders and the dozens of conspiracy theories encompassing the United States government, it
is no wonder why the American people have lost trust in their government, and why the United States
has become the laughing stock of foreign countries. The 2016 presidential election was arguably the
most controversial election in American history; many voters felt that neither of the candidates could
be trusted due to their questionable actions. Numerous Americans were outraged when current U.S.

Analysis Of The Poem Oranges And Small Town With One...
Poetry is a creative art expressed through words and created through passion, prior experience and
multiple outer influences. Gary Soto is a famous poet who blossomed in the late 20th century. Soto
used different variations of poetry tools to create expressive poems based on his own life experience.
While Soto wrote many different poems, the poems Oranges and Small Town With One Road stand
out and can be deeply analyzed. Both poems are strongly emphasized with his past experiences in life.
Gary Soto writes poems about hope, diversity and harshness of life, because he relates to his own
personal experience while conveying his meaning through the poems.
Gary Soto was born in Fresno, California in April 12, 1952. Soto s grandparents were immigrants
from mexico, leading to him being born to a mexican american working family which struggled to
find work( Gary Soto, Poetry foundation). Soto s father died when he was five which affected his
future poetry. Growing up as a mexican in the middle of the 20th century, Gary was exposed to the
harshness of belonging to a mexican family in america which he later wrote in his poetry( Gary Soto,
Poets.org). Gary started working in the fields and factories at a young age, he was not academically
motivated in grade school but became interested in poetry in high school( Gary Soto, Poetry
Foundation). In high school, his influencers in literature were Ernest Hemingway, Jules Verne, John
Steinbeck and Robert Frost.

School Safety And Security Has Been An Issue On Many...
Beginning at the turn of the century, school safety and security has been an issue on many
administrators minds. There have been over one hundred and forty school shootings since the turn of
the century and the whole country is on watch. The most recent event at Sandy Hook made the
citizens of America plead with the government for stricter laws, and safer schools. Is the Government
doing enough to provide the right schools with the right resources? In April 1999, Eric Harris and
Dylan Klebold walked into Columbine high school and opened fire. The two seniors students killed
thirteen people, and injured twenty two before turning the guns on themselves. This tragic massacre
was the first event of its kind that attracted widespread media coverage. Since the event, there have
been over one hundred and forty such school shootings. Many people debate weather the government
is doing enough to impede school shootings. After the Sandy Hook tragedy, President Obama said We
won t be able to stop every violent act, but if there is even one thing that we can do to prevent any of
these events, we have a deep obligation, all of us, to try (whitehouse.gov.) Which sparked Now is the

Motivation And Long Term Goals
Motivation and long term goals:
My desire to study at your reputed university is the result of nearly 3 years of step by step self
discovery of my abilities, aspirations, strengths and weaknesses as well as my perception of current
needs and goals. The notion of pursuing Masters in Computer Science grew stronger during my tenure
working at CAPGEMINI, a prominent French MNC where I worked as a Senior Software Developer
as well as a Business Analyst interacting with clients from the USA, Singapore, Malaysia as well as
India. This working period of nearly three years allowed me to learn a lot about how a business works,
the entire cycle how a software is developed, how people from various countries interact and decide as
a team the best solution for a problem. But, most importantly this proved to be a turning point in my
life where my abilities were tested and I grew confident about my inclination towards problem
solving, analysis and research. The realization dawned upon me I want to do a lot more by opting for
research work. I intend to solve real life problems or end up with a start up of my own through which I
can give back to the community. A prosperous career in computer science and engineering can only be
built above the firm foundation of a better education.
Background and achievements:
As a part of my of undergraduate curriculum in Computer Science, I was exposed to many inquisitive
subjects like Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Operating Systems, Design

tabloids and the media are of much less substance than medical diagnosis. It is plausible that one or

There is a case of a man who would not eat unless his food was stolen, so a servant would take pains
to hide the man s food in such a manner that the man could steal it and eat rather than die from
starvation. One woman was so afflicted with the compulsion to steal that she would not hesitate in
stealing offerings and tithes from church baskets at the altar. An otherwise upstanding woman was
such a helpless thief that she would steal bread from her friends dinner table if there was nothing else
more valuable to be had. There is even record of a clergyman whose kleptomania was so notorious
that the Church eventually had to cut ties with him. A British lady, presumably of high society, was
prosecuted for stealing handkerchiefs from a clothing store; the Times which reported on the case
insinuated that recurrent and compulsive theft of cheap items from shops is quite common among the
ladies of high society in London. This behavior was so well known that family members arranged a
well coordinated effort with drivers and shopkeepers to keep tabs on their thieving ladies and to make
sure that the shopkeepers got reimbursed. Sometimes the thief herself would be the one writing the
check that the shopkeepers would inevitably send to their home. One of the causes of kleptomania
appears to be general insanity. The behavior is so compulsive, that people who are otherwise

Post Op Hunger: What to Eat After Dental Surgery
Have you ever undergone oral surgery? Usually, those who have dental procedures done can t eat solid
food for a couple of days, sometimes even lasting for weeks because of the pain.
There are many options you can go for if we re just talking about soft food and liquids in general, but

even infect your supposedly healing wound. Gentle Dentist, a family dentistry clinic based in

Liquids
In some cases, you won t even be able to chew and swallow properly because of the swelling and the
pain. For this, you can turn to fluids to help you get better. The number one choice is water, as it
washes away particles and sugars that may lead to tooth decay. It also keeps the mouth moist and the
throat hydrated.
Other choices are 100 percent fruit or vegetable juices to provide you with the right amount of calories
and nutrients. Green tea also helps improve dental health.
Avoid sodas and caffeine because the sugar may worsen your condition and cause tooth erosion.

are a variety of milk and milk byproducts available in the market, there are specific products
appropriate for dental surgery patients. Skim milk, cottage cheese, and unsweetened and low fat
yogurts work best to reduce healing time.

California. Partially this is because of the Democratic ran government but more than that they think
stricter gun laws are going to prevent the shootings from happening.

Examples Of Evil In Animal Farm By George Orwell
You need to do something! Do not think somebody else will do something about it, take matters into
your own hands. If something is not going the way you want it to then you need to stand up and you
need to make a change. Evil is all around and to keep evil from controlling the world we need to do
something to about it. In the novel Animal Farm by George Orwell we see multiple examples about
how if we do nothing evil will always win. For example at the Manor farm the animals want more
freedom and to have a better life where they are not overworked, so they decide to rebel against the
evil Mr jones and take over farm. When this happens the humans decide they need to do something
about it and the chose to fight back against the animals. Finally, when the animals do not fight back it
results in their good friend boxer being taken to the slaughter house, if they had fought back they
could have helped save their friend.

Huckleberry Finn is a young boy who struggles with complex issues such as empathy, guilt, fear, and
morality in Mark Twain s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn . There are two different sides to Huck.
One is the subordinate, easily influenced boy whom he becomes when under the guide of Tom
Sawyer. His other persona surfaces when he is on his own, thinking of his friendship with Jim and
agonizing over which to trust: his heart or his conscience. When Huck s ongoing inner struggle with
his own duality forces him to makes difficult and controversial choices, the reader sees a boy in the
throes of moral development. And it is, indeed, a struggle. Although Huck believes in the rules of the
harshly racist society in which he lives, a deeper and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

on Jim creates a lot of genuine fear and tension for Jim. It is right after Huck and Jim have gotten lost
in the fog and Huck finds and climbs onto the raft while Jim is sleeping. Jim is so relieved to find
Huck back safe and sound that he hugs and squeezes him for a long time until Huck tells him that they
were never separated. Jim believes this until he sees the evidence that they were, and then he
reprimands Huck.
Nonetheless, Huck feels terrible and says, It was fifteen minutes before I could work myself up to go
and humble myself to a nigger but I done it, and I warn t ever sorry for it afterwards, neither. This is
the first time that Huck ever apologizes to or shows empathy towards Jim. In his previous tricks, he
either didn t care at all, or just felt guilty, but here he shows that he is actually concerned about Jim s
feelings. This progression in Huck shows that his morals are developing along with his friendship with
Jim.
As Huck and Jim s friendship develops, so does Huck s empathy for Jim. When Huck encounters the
two men on the river who ask if Huck s friend is white or black, Huck silently struggles between
following his conscience by turning Jim in, or trusting his loyal heart. Huck knows what will happen
to Jim if he turns him in.

The very existence of disaster photography proves this. Voyeur as defined by the Oxford Dictionary is
a person who enjoys seeing the pain or distress of others. Why would humans continuously
photograph others suffering if they did not gain some pleasure from it? Photographers might say that
the motives of disaster photography are to document and expose horrors around the world. The
intention of the photographer about how the photo should be received and how it is actually received
can be quite different. An example of how humanity s voyeuristic tendencies effects how viewers react
to a photo is given by Susan Sontag in her book Regarding the Pain of Others. When photographs of
suffering are staged, people are surprised to learn they were staged, and always disappointed instead
of celebrating the fact that the suffering was not real (55). This disappointment is felt because of the
need to observe genuine suffering. The photos of the Halifax disaster used to make postcards are real
and it is because of humanity s voyeuristic tendencies that there is a market for these snapshots of

Detroit s Real Estate Market
The racial undertones of Detroit have been extremely problematic to Detroit s real estate market for
well over 50 years. These social disruptions continue to have an effect on the current residents of
Detroit. During the middle of the nineteenth century, the Federal Housing Administration (FHA)
introduced real estate tactics such as redlining, which is the practice of flagging minority dense
neighborhoods for the purposes of denying approval of mortgages or inflating the price of the homes.
Redlining had a profound social and economic effect on all residents of Detroit. The white majority
began abandoning and selling their homes in fear that the value of the home would plummet, leading
to a great financial loss when minorities moved in the area. This idea is known as white flight, and is
the primary reason that Detroit has one of the highest African American populations in the country.
However, through revitalization and gentrification of the Midtown/Downtown area, Detroit is slowly
becoming more diverse. Throughout history, racial politics of the mid to late twentieth century
affected Detroit s real estate market by excluding minorities from the real estate market. Although
adding stadiums, high end retail, small shops, and restaurants is economically valuable to the city of
Detroit, this is conflicting and potentially problematic for the original residents of the area because the
prices of these new establishments are often much higher than the residents can afford.

Similarities Between Hinduism And Hinduism Essay
Christianity Versus Hinduism
Christianity and Hinduism, are two of the worlds oldest religions. Although they are very different
religions they share one main goal; salvation. However, their idea of salvation and what they have to
do ,and what must be done to attain salvation are very different.
Two main similarities between the Hindu religion and Christian religion are referred to by different
titles; nevertheless they are represented by the same action. One example of these similarities would
be prayer and meditation. Christians pray to God to ask for forgiveness and help such as healing and
strength. However Hindus practice meditation, this is a type of prayer that starts with a poem, believed
to be written by their god. Hinduism vs. Christianity.( Hindunet.org. N.p., n.d. Web. 15 Feb. 2016.)
Hindus meditate to reach inner peace which in return gives them strength and healing. Some secs of
Hinduism even call meditation prayer, and even require it to be done three times a day. (

Both the Christian religion, as well as Hindu religion, believe they have to strive to be at their best
morally at all times. Christians do this to be more Christ like in hopes that people will see Christ in
them and in turn want to follow and serve him. Nonetheless, Hindus believe this helps them to reach
enlightenment, which pleases their god and this will bring them closer to their salvation.
Also differences exist as well. First, Christians believe in and serve one God, the

Analysis Of Raisin In The Sun
Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry Raisin in the Sun is a play on Broadway that tells about a
tragedy faced by an African American. The play is about Youngers family that lives in the ghetto and
one that is at crossroads following the death of Younger s father. Mother Lena Younger and her
children reside in a cramped apartment in a poverty stricken district in Chicago. Her grown up
children include Water Lee and Beneatha. The life insurance that matured following the death of Lena
s husband earns the family ten thousand dollars, and everybody is eagerly waiting for the full
payment. The question that the entire family is faced with is whether the money should be invested in
supporting studies of her daughter through the medical school, the business deal with the sons, or
other dreams. The family is faced with conflicts, particularly amongst the siblings as they seek to
establish whose dream is superior. It becomes more difficult for Lena to make the right decision in the
midst of the conflict because her wish is to please everyone. The play is about the black family that
struggles with racial prejudice and economic hardship. The underlying importance of the play is in the
way it shows the value of dreams, importance of family, and racial discrimination. The further one
gets in reading the play, the more there is to learn about the Youngers. The vision and dream of all the
Younger family is one of either making or breaking the family based on their independent choices.
Though each member of Younger family had a dream, the dreams were distinct from each other. The
dream of Mama was that of owning a nice house that has a beautiful backyard just like they wished
with the husband. Mama felt that her dream was helpful to her entire family because they would be
able to take good care of Travis and make him grow up to become a great man in the neighborhood.
The only person that thought about the family was Lena. Ruth, on the other hand, was not a member
of the blood family but always wanted the best for everyone. Ruth s dream rhymed with that of Lema.
Her wish was to have a happy family and to achieve that she wished to have a better place to live.
Unfortunately, her dream was deferred due to lack of money that

  • 2. Persian Architecture Essay Comparing and Analyzing the Architecture in Ancient India and Persia In ancient civilizations, architecture was fundamental to revealing certain aspects of a culture, such as its leaders and their communication with the citizens. Rulers that controlled society utilized temples and buildings to express their power and communicate with their subjects. Cultures were able to express their abilities through architecture, along with their beliefs and the functionality of their society. Architecture allowed cultures to leave behind physical evidence of their existence and further display their ideologies, capabilities, and accomplishments. The exploration of architecture in ancient Persia and India reveals many correlations between the two cultures. Ancient Persian architecture displayed the Persians liberal policy, in incorporating diverse cultures, and their intricate designs, most of which, relating to royalty. Meanwhile, ancient Indian architecture exhibited close resemblance to Persian architecture, and the Indians also used their building as an expression of royalty and the power that the ruler held. The Persians borrowed from other conquered cultures because they lacked strong artistic traditions. Persian architecture was known to include echoes of Egyptian temple Gates and hypostyle halls, Hittite audience chambers, and Mesopotamian sculpted animal motifs ( Fazio ). • 3. Dr Mallard s Death And How Mrs. Mallard 1. My initial impression of this work was that it was going to be a story of sadness. The beginning focuses on Brently Mallard s death and how Mrs. Mallard would deal with this. I also realized that the narrator was an outside unknown character. This story was narrated in the third person as well. 2. The genre of this selection is fiction. 3. The exposition of the story starts with a husband and wife. The wife loved him at times but still they were together. Her husband has gone off and was believed to apart of the railroad disaster, which was the cause of his death. The rising action of the story is when Mrs. Mallard heard the news of her husband death and the way she would face it. Like the story said with a paralyzed inability to accept its significance she was not sure what to think or do. She dealt with the thought that all of the sudden her life changed. She felt something she could not identify coming to her. The climax of the story is when she had realized that she was free. She no longer would live for someone else but instead she would live her life for herself. This idea brought her body a type of joy, and exhilaration she could not describe. The falling action in the story is when the joy was beginning to affect her body too much. It was beginning to make her ill but she went on with this joy. The denouement in the story is when the joy killed her and then a few seconds after her husband came in. She believed that she was free from him cause of his death ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Origin: mid 16th century (in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One attraction of the contingency approach among theorists and practitioners alike is its situational perspective. Those interested in research issues regarding organization and management can use the contingency perspective to explain why some factors influence situations in one setting but have virtually no influence in another setting. Indeed, one objective of research within the contingency framework is to specify those dimensions and conditions that do affect a situation and those that do not. For the manager, the requirement from the contingency perspective is to identify which technique will, in a particular situation, best contribute to the attainment of organizational goals. For instance, under some circumstances, an authoritarian leadership style may be more appropriate than a leadership style that tries to get workers internally motivated.tuation. While the contingency approach is useful in recognizing that the complexity involved in understanding human and organizational systems makes it difficult to develop universal principles of management, there have been several criticisms of the approach. For one, it has been pointed out that the logical extension of the contingency approach is that all situations are unique. If this is true, then management can be practiced only by intuition and ... • 5. Bilingual Education Act Report to Baker (1997), this legislation was designed to assist Spanish speaking students who were failing in school. Senator Yarborough explained that the bill was needed because of the failure of the school system to educate Spanish speaking students that was reflected in comparative dropout rates (Lyons, 1990). The Hispanic dropout rate was close to 75 percent in certain areas (Ovando et al., 2006). In 1968, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Bilingual Education Act into law, which indicated the first commitment made by the U.S. government to address the special needs that ELLs bring to public schools (Crawford, 1989). According to Crawford (1989), the White House exerted pressure on Congress to approve no funding for Title VII during the first year. In 1969, a scanty appropriation of $7.5 million was sufficient to just fund projects that served 27,000 ELLs (Crawford, 1989). • 7. Importance to Be on Time in the Military Essay example It is important to be on time, both in the Army and in the civilian sector, for multiple reasons. Among these reasons, the ones that stand out to me the most are unprofessionalism, being fired, receiving adverse disciplinary actions, and failing your co workers/comrades. Being late or tardy to work can cause not only yourself but everyone at your place of employment problems. When being late or tardy, you are showing that you are not a professional. It can also be assumed that you do not care or respect your job the way you should or need to. I know that when I failed to show up for duty that I not only showed lack of responsibility but also a lot discipline. I could write this essay and fill it with tons of excuses as to why I was late to my point of duty, but the fact of the matter is that I was late and there is no excuse, being on time and at the right place of duty is extremely important. When I am late it makes everyone else run behind because they were too busy trying to figure out where I was and what I was doing to cause me not to be at my place of duty. Not to mention that when everything is running behind and then we all have to end up staying way later than we would have had to stay in the first place. Prosecutors and Judges believe that these shows are causing jurors to be out of touch with reality when it comes to making a decision about a case in the court room. The Jurors are said to be out of touch with reality because they have a demand for conclusive scientific evidence. People who experience the CSI Effect tend to think they are experts in the field. In a case cited by Durnal, jurors in a murder trial brought to the judge s attention that a bloody coat introduced as evidence was not tested for DNA. The defendant admitted being present at the murder scene, so the test would not have thrown light on the identity of the true culprit. The judge stated that television is to thank for jurors knowing what DNA tests could do, but not when it was appropriate to use them. According to the United States Department of Energy, when ancient living plants and animals died, they decomposed and became buried under layers of mud, rock, and sand. After millions of years, these plants and animals slowly decomposed into organic material. Depending on what combination of plant and/or animal debris was decomposed, different types of fossil fuels were formed. These fossil fuels are then converted into coal, oil, and natural gas (United States Department of Energy). With this in mind, fossil fuels take millions of years to form and once used they can never be used again, leaving them to be known as nonrenewable resources. Each type of fossil fuel releases different substances into the air when being used. For example coal is a hard rich like substance that is made up of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and varying amounts of sulfur. Obviously, when burned these elements are released into the atmosphere (California Energy Commission). • 21. Internal Devaluation And Its Effects On The Economy Furthermore, the Fund also recognized that after nearly four years of internal devaluation, the economic strategy had not succeeded. The idea of an internal devaluation is that if you create enough mass unemployment and push wages down far enough, the economy can become more competitive due to lower labor costs. This allows exports to grow, and import competing industries to also do better, improving the trade balance. Since exports add to economic growth and employment, and reduced imports do the same, the economy can recover in this scenario due to increasing net exports (exports minus imports). Normally this could be attempted through a devaluation of the currency. But the troika has only recently shown any intention of trying to push the euro s value down against external trading partners; and of course since it is a common currency, the more depressed economies within the currency union can t devalue against the others (e.g. Spain versus Germany). This leaves internal devaluation as the remaining hope for recovery for countries such as Spain, Greece, and Portugal. In other words, despite the negative impact of the fiscal austerity, the theory is that internal devaluation based on lower labor costs can drive recovery based on the growth of net exports. Nonetheless, Huck feels terrible and says, It was fifteen minutes before I could work myself up to go and humble myself to a nigger but I done it, and I warn t ever sorry for it afterwards, neither. This is the first time that Huck ever apologizes to or shows empathy towards Jim. In his previous tricks, he either didn t care at all, or just felt guilty, but here he shows that he is actually concerned about Jim s feelings. This progression in Huck shows that his morals are developing along with his friendship with Jim. As Huck and Jim s friendship develops, so does Huck s empathy for Jim. When Huck encounters the two men on the river who ask if Huck s friend is white or black, Huck silently struggles between following his conscience by turning Jim in, or trusting his loyal heart. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The very existence of disaster photography proves this. Voyeur as defined by the Oxford Dictionary is a person who enjoys seeing the pain or distress of others. Why would humans continuously photograph others suffering if they did not gain some pleasure from it? Photographers might say that the motives of disaster photography are to document and expose horrors around the world. The intention of the photographer about how the photo should be received and how it is actually received can be quite different. An example of how humanity s voyeuristic tendencies effects how viewers react to a photo is given by Susan Sontag in her book Regarding the Pain of Others. When photographs of suffering are staged, people are surprised to learn they were staged, and always disappointed instead of celebrating the fact that the suffering was not real (55). This disappointment is felt because of the need to observe genuine suffering. The photos of the Halifax disaster used to make postcards are real and it is because of humanity s voyeuristic tendencies that there is a market for these snapshots of ... • 36. Detroit s Real Estate Market The racial undertones of Detroit have been extremely problematic to Detroit s real estate market for well over 50 years. These social disruptions continue to have an effect on the current residents of Detroit. During the middle of the nineteenth century, the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) introduced real estate tactics such as redlining, which is the practice of flagging minority dense neighborhoods for the purposes of denying approval of mortgages or inflating the price of the homes. Redlining had a profound social and economic effect on all residents of Detroit. The white majority began abandoning and selling their homes in fear that the value of the home would plummet, leading to a great financial loss when minorities moved in the area. This idea is known as white flight, and is the primary reason that Detroit has one of the highest African American populations in the country. However, through revitalization and gentrification of the Midtown/Downtown area, Detroit is slowly becoming more diverse. Throughout history, racial politics of the mid to late twentieth century affected Detroit s real estate market by excluding minorities from the real estate market. Although adding stadiums, high end retail, small shops, and restaurants is economically valuable to the city of Detroit, this is conflicting and potentially problematic for the original residents of the area because the prices of these new establishments are often much higher than the residents can afford. ...
