The Affordable Care Act And Its Effects
The Affordable Care Act And Its effects Health Care reform is not a new thing to people of
United States. It has revised and altered on many occasions. The health care system is subjected
to change due to the influences of several factors. Having an acceptable and affordable form of
health care system is needed to insure the good health of the citizens. In today s news, we hear
many headlines along the line of The new Affordable Care Act...... and to some of us we might not
have any idea what this new act is. This act is known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care
Act created by President Obama and his administration, which still is a work in progress and
houses many different public opinions. As a result of passing this act, many... Show more content on

This act, when described, seems to have a positive impact yet there are many issues concerning
this act. The affordable care act illustrates the idea of public policy in that it took various
representatives of the Obama administration to draw up a plan for this act. For an idea to
become a possibility of passing and being implemented, it needs countless hours of crafting and
reviewing by the men and women in Congress so that it can be a success. The New York Times
summarized the overall impact of the Affordable Care Act on a variety of dimensions. The
number of uninsured people have reduced significantly, as a result of this act. Yet, about 7.3
million people remain enrolled in their own private insurance coverage through the online
marketplaces but this act still has insured more than enough people and has become a great
success story. Additionally, 85% of those who qualified for federal subsidies were aided in
paying their premiums. (Tavenner) Moreover, for those who qualified for subsidies through the
federal exchange, the subsidies lowered their insurance premium by 76% on average. Yet, the
challenge is for middle income persons who don t qualify for subsidies and are more likely to have
a hard time accepting premium costs of this act.(Tavenner) New York Times also states that it is too
early to tell whether the act has affected health outcomes. Even though healthcare costs have been

The Animation Of Life In Frankenstein
The Animation of Life by Stories: Literature and Society Doctor Frankenstein in Mary Shelley s
influential novel never reveals the secrets behind the animation of his monster. Even still, the
creature is suddenly thrust into being; thrust into an amalgamation of ebbing and flowing stories
and forced to carve out a story of his own. It can be reasoned that everything which exhibits what
we classify as life carries with it the capacity to simultaneously create and be shaped by stories.
Shelley s intentional decision to keep the methods of the monster s creation hidden allows for the
story of the monster itself to be what truly gives him life and consequently, the story of Frankenstein
and his monster has breathed life into many modern discussions.... Show more content on

The most poignant example being Victor s wedding night, a night which should be shared
between him and his new bride. Ultimately, Victor is so caught up in his own story that he does
not even begin to reason that his new bride could be the target of his monster s wrath and Victor
s beloved dies at the hands of his creation. (Shelley 151) It is interesting to conjecture that getting
caught up in one s own story is the opposite of animating life, rather, the loss of life. When one is
caught up in their own story, all other stories around it cease to be narratable. By figurative
reasoning, when someone s story becomes un narratable, the life which the story sustains can no
longer exist. Arthur Frank comments that stories are symbiotic, Stories and people need each other.
(Frank 37) A person cannot live without stories and stories can be created, or destroyed, by people.
Frankenstein teaches us that stories are dangerous and out of control, but we depend on them to
animate life and without them, life ceases to

Us Economy On Top Essay
The US should keep US economy on top when it comes to trade. This will provide people in our
country with better products and improve the overall standard of living. We would help poorer
and more underdeveloped countries than us that need assistance. Also, putting the US economy
on top will result in keeping peace with countries. Some say we will focus less on values and
more on resources and money and make other countries economy s weaker, but we will still hold
on to values unless they get in the way and we will actually help other economies by trading with
them even though the US is still on top. We should make sure the US economy is on top so we
can help the people in our country have better lives and help and keep peace with countries other
than us.
Putting the US economy on top will make the citizens of our country have better lives. The US
has more money and better resources, so people get better resources, like gas or electricity. We
can also get better products like food or cars. Americans buy the Subaru even though it is made in
Japan. It s one of the best cars in the world. Americans can also get the porsche even though it is
made in germany. It is another one of the best car brands. Sometimes the resources are even
cheaper like gas. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Promoting open trade with countries to the south of us, like Mexico, will reduce poverty in Latin
America and expand the market for US goods. Latin America could use our help, and if we go
through with focusing on american economics being on top, we can help them. We could also do
this with other countries in poverty. If our economy is good we will help other economies because
they will sell and buy products and resources to and from us that will make our economy greater
and they will use that money and those resources to make their economy better. The world is better

King Alexandra The Great
Alexandra the great was a Macedonian king. He was born July 356 BC. His parents are King
Philipp the second and queen Olympia. When he inherited the Macedonian empire from his
father he continued to prolong the empire to great proportions, with the help of his troops.
Alexandra is greatly known due to the fact that he conquered more land than any other king,
during his time. Alexandra s built an extensive empire that had a cultural impact on the east and
west. He also was a great leader as well as a great conqueror, at the young age of twenty years old
he was an experienced and trained solider, with his father s aspiration; who was also a great
conqueror. He started to form the forces necessary to conquer Persia, and even after he conquered
most of Persia he was still displeased and wanted more land.... Show more content on

will be allowed to go... I will make those who stay the envy of those who return. The labor that was
used up to expand the empire was mostly the effect of Alexandra and with the help of his troops, the
empire spread Greek culture throughout the kingdom. Greek cultural diffusion was spread because
of many reasons, he founded around twenty cities in his name, Alexandra, his fortitude of

PICC Line Analysis
When hearing the term PICC line it maybe rather confusing; that is unless you re in the medical
profession or have a family member that has one. First, the name that groups all of them together
is called; a central venous catheter. A PICC line is just one of many. It is described as a
peripherally inserted central catheter; otherwise called PICC line. It is a long, thin, flexible tube
that is inserted under the skin into a vein in the arm rather than a vein in the neck or chest. (
WebMD ). The purpose of the PICC is to give medicines, fluids and blood products over an
extended period of time. Those with cancer, kidney disease, diabetes, Lyme disease and total
parenteral nutrition or (TPN) are common reason that a PICC line could be used for. PICC lines
are thought to be a safer and simpler way to distribute needed treatments. Fewer than 10% of
patients have trouble or generate a venous injury. ( Peripherally Inserted Central Cathetersand Other
Intravascular Devices , 2014).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The materials used to make up the PICC line is silicone or polyurethane and has a radiopaque
measuring 50 60 cm in length with the outside diameter of 2 7 French. The catheter appearance
can also vary; it may have a single or double lumen or it can have an open or closed end. The
specific device should be selected based on the number of lumens necessary for treatment, being
aware of the probable infection increases with the number of lumens. The most common used
PICC line is the 5 FR, double lumen, which is a closed ended

The Importance Of Commercialization Of Hip Hop Culture
It is clear that the hip hop culture plays a huge role in the lives of many people. It has influenced
the way people dress, the way they talk, and the way they act. Unfortunately, many big
corporations have taken advantage of this and commercialized rap music in order to gain a
profit (Blair, 497). Commercialization is a very complex topic; however, it is important to
understand. This is because of the fact that when something becomes widely known, such a hip
hop and rap have, it is vulnerable to change (Phillips, paragraph 9). An example of this is when
author Nicole Phillips states, Hip hop became more about edge and less about the content of the
message. It became about sales.... (Phillips, paragraph 9). Therefore, in order to prevent any further
change, one needs to understand commercialization and how it works. This paper is going to
explore the complexities and nuances of commercialization of the hip hop culture. In order to do
this, this paper will consider what commercialization of hip hop culture entails. This paper will also
discuss how Elizabeth Blair, author of Commercialization of the Rap Music Subculture,
conceptualized commercialization, as well as how she discusses the situation in general. After
discussing these topics, the paper will move on to discussing cultural appropriation. This discussion
will include how authors describe cultural appropriation, and a debate regarding this topic. To begin,
in order to truly understand how complicated the

True Bearings And The Geometric Coordinate System
TRUE BEARINGS AND THE GEOMETRIC COORDINATE SYSTEM
Investigation
Introduction
A true bearing is a mathematical term used to define the point of the angle measured in degrees, in
a clockwise direction, from the north point. A true bearing must always be written using 3 figures,
for example, it is written as 042В° rather than 42В°. True bearings are used for specific purposes
relating to coordinating geography mapping and navigation.
A geographic coordinate system is properly known as GSC is a 3 dimensional surface in a figure of
the sphere used to outline specific locations on the planet, Earth. A GSC comprises of different
terms such as an angular unit of measure, a datum and a prime meridian all used to find a specific
point. Longitudinal and latitudinal waves are the angles measured in degrees from the earth s
centre to help outline a specific point on the earth s visible surface.
The midway of the latitudinal line is referenced as the equator whilst the midway of the
longitudinal line is referenced as the prime meridian. The GSC is used to project a certain point of
the earth s surface using latitudinal and longitudinal lines and height using a datum.
Aim
The aim of this investigation was to develop an understanding of true bearings and the coordinate
geographic system. The use of online mapping tools was needed to help develop skills.
The result of most questions ended with a degrees sign to represent it was an angle.
The desired points chosen were placed in a

Bill Gates Is A Frugal, Persevering, Supreme Computer Geek
Bill Gates is a frugal, persevering, supreme computer geek who can hack code with the greatest of
them and is probably the most successful entrepreneur of the 20th century. While the other side of
him is a hard driven businessman. Gates felt that standards were one of the most important
attributes you could possess in a company which has shaped the computer industry into what it is
today.
I chose to write about Mr. Gates because he is a programming genius, and through his programming
skills, and competitive business skills, in just 25 years, he built a two man operation into a
multibillion dollar company. He accomplished this achievement by taking current technology and

Other things didn t interest him as much as computers did so he preferred to spend his time
playing poker and video games rather than attending classes. Gates got by on very little sleep and
would cram for tests, and pass with a decent grade. In December of 1974, Allen and Gates took a
chance on an opportunity regarding the Altair 8800. They called the manufacture, MITS, in
Albuquerque, NM telling them they had written a version of the popular computer language
BASIC for the Altair, so the president asked to see the version they had written, but they had not
written anything yet. So, Gates and Allen, began working day and night in Harvard s computer lab.
Since they had not Altair to work on they had to run simulations on other computers. Without
knowing if the program would work, Allen traveled to Albuquerque to test the program on the
Altair, and it worked. Once this happened, Gates decided to drop out of Harvard and move to
Albuquerque with Allen. This is where they officially established Microsoft. Shortly thereafter,
MITS collapsed. This did not affect Gates or Allen, as they were already writing software for other
computer start ups including Apple, Commodore, and Tandy Corp.
In 1979, they moved the company to Seattle. Gates bought an existing operating system for
$50,000, and developed it into MS DOS, which he then licensed to IBM. Gates constructed

Hamlet Christian Beliefs
At the time in which Hamlet was written, the Great Reformation was in full force. In England
began a gradual movement from strict Catholicism to Protestantism. Shakespeare wrote Hamlet as a
Christian tragedy, and consequently, the play is laced with different themes and allegories
influenced by Christian beliefs. During the Elizabethan Era, conscience began to affect daily
societal roles. People started living in a way that would please their state and their God. They
believed that birthright and actions could not determine whether or not a man was spiritually
ethical (Terry 1071). Hamletalso deals seriously with the idea of conscience and moral
contemplation, spurred by the Christian notions of sin. Hamlet is hesitant to enact any kind

Ratification of Constitution Essay
The Constitution has been operative since 1789 after the ratification of nine states (American
Vision and Values, Page 52). Today many question the relevancy of a document 222 years old to
our society. The Founders created a governmental framework, defining three branches and giving
powers to the government and others to the states. It also guarantees the rights of the people. It
took two and one half years for the 13 colonies to ratify the Constitution. This ratification period
was one of great debate and produced a series of essays complied into The Federalist. Authored by
John Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay during the ratification debate in New York, they tried
to get public support for the Constitution. Thus began the first... Show more content on

To further strengthen the rights of the people, The Bill of Rights was ratified on December 15,
1791. With only the first ten amendments, it is no accident that two amendments, 9 and 10,
specifically define the Constitutions purpose to protect rights, given to the government from the
people; and the powers of the government are only those delegated to it by the Constitution on
behalf of the people (Spalding, Page 145). Madison in Federalist No. 10 (Page 131) also supports
the view of the Framers to have great and aggregate interests being referred to the national, the
local and particular to the State legislatures . Madison expounds further in Federalist No. 39 (Page

states being delegated the remaining objects . Federalism was created in the Constitution and while
it seems a difficult concept U.S. Attorney General, Edwin Meese s definition is very simply put

Comfort Women Issue
The comfort women issue has been an ongoing dispute for more than seventy years now. The
role of comfort women in WWII was to raise the morale of soldiers by providing services. It is
estimated that less than a quarter of the comfort women survived the ordeal, however the exact
number is not recorded. Since then, Japan has decided to remain silent in order to avoid any
conflicts or issues. The comfort womenissue didn t become acknowledged until the 1990s when
comfort women started to testify in court. There are now people who are rising to conclude the
comfort women issue, and making the issue public. People are now demanding that Japan
apologizes for what they have done and request compensation to the victims. To this day, Japan still

However, denialists today still refuse to accept the testimonies of comfort women victims. The
entire issue is confusing, because of all of the conflicting opinions and sides. The Japanese
government claims that they have formally apologized for what they have done in the past. On
the website for the Japanese government, they claim that they have made amends by giving
money to all of the victims. They also claim to have donated money to organizations that assist
comfort women. The one thing that doesn t make sense, is that they say that they are teaching
about comfort women in schools. If the government is really for teaching about comfort women,
then why are people still denying that the comfort women issue is real? The testimonies of the
comfort women are very important to the issue, because it gives both sides information to work
with. The testimonies are necessary evidence due to the lack of official information provided by
the Japanese government. The government destroyed a lot of documents of WWII, so some
information on the comfort women is lost. It is unsure if the information has been lost or if they
are just being concealed. There is a lot of proof that points towards the idea that the Japanese
government is at fault. There is enough evidence and information provided by both sides, so why
is the issue still

Although each breast reconstruction procedure in Orange County is unique, this procedure is

During this second surgical procedure, Dr. Esmailian removes the expander and places the patient s

The two stage breast reconstruction process is also referred to as delayed immediate breast

needs radiation therapy, Dr. Esmailian waits until these treatments are complete before placing the
breast implants.
If a patient does not require radiation therapy, Dr. Esmailian can begin the reconstruction process,

Neanderthal Extinction Essay
Neanderthal Extinction
Neanderthals and modern humans coexisted for well over 100,000 years. Then suddenly Homo
neandertalensis began to die out and surrender the earth to Homo sapiens. Paleontologists and
anthropologists have entertained several possibilities to the causes of this event: interbreeding
among Neanderthals and humans, competition for natural resources, and Darwin s theory of
survival of the fittest. What the real cause has been has plagued scientists for years. Now, due to an
international research team from Germany, those possibilities have been even further deduced,
making it easier to pinpoint the exact reason Homo neandertalensis became extinct. Scientists
thought that interbreeding would be a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fossils which passed the amino acid tests were called transitional elements between the two
species. They represented a part of Europe where the Neanderthals and early humans would have
more than likely encountered each other. The same DNA sequence was found in Neanderthals
and early humans, but also in ancient cave bears from Croatia and Austria. This made the
researchers skeptical of their findings and decided to test for mtDNA stands. When the fossils
were further analyzed, the researchers found that the mtDNA embedded in the Neanderthal
fossils was of a different strain than that in the early humans, which was of course, different from
that of the ancient cave bears. So what does this all mean for the modern world? For starters, it
brings scientists one step closer to finalizing the evolution debate. With ruling out this one
possibility, the origins of modern humans become easier to indicate and easier to prove. By
learning where we came from, we, as humans, can better understand ourselves. We learn about our
ancestors and how they lived how they survived. We also learn about our relatives, how they
functioned, and what caused them to fall. Tactics of survival are discovered that may still be
relevant today. There are still missing pieces to the grand puzzle of history, but our newfound
knowledge of mtDNA has made it easier for us to comprehend what exactly happened those

Antigone s Moral Responsibility
Martin Luther King Jr. once said, One has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. In the
face of immoral laws, Antigone did nothing more than doing what she believed was right.
Antigone did not deserve the fate she received, death. Her act was courageous, compassionate,
and altruistic. These are traits of an act worthy of reverence, not demise. When stuck between
defying her uncle Creon s law and doing what she knew to be morally right, Antigone was not
dissuade by danger. She was the definition of courageous! She shows even more bravery when
she is caught burying Polynices, and is still not deterred. Her resolve is ever unfaltering, and
even seems to grow stronger as the consequences of her actions become reality. She can be
quoted saying And if I have to die for this pure crime, I am content, for I shall rest beside him;
His love will answer mine. (page 16). She is not afraid of dying, since she knows she is
committing no real crime and her actions are completely justified and pure. She is also comforted
by the fact that she will be with her brother, and his love will be enough. Compassion can be seen

She would prefer for Nola to remain young. Despite her mother s desire, Nola is growing up and
becoming her own person.
Nola has embraced the beginning of adulthood and handles it very well. She tries to be an
individual by picking out clothes that are funky and fashionable (Oates 836). She makes an

topic of the American dream. He believes that numerous Americans are chasing after a dream that is
nearly impossible to reach. John Steinbeckexpresses his belief on the American dream through a
general negative attitude toward the American dream and the failed dreams of his characters.
The book shares the same negative views about dreams with the poem To a Mouse, by Robert Burns
. The poem tells the story of a mouse who has planned for survival through the winter, but his
plans were ruined by a farmer who was plowing his field leaving the mouse frightened and fearing
for the future. The seventh stanza includes these lines The best laid schemes of mice and men, go
oft astray, and leave us nought but grief and pain to rend our day (Burns To a Mouse ). This quote
illustrates the fact that both the plans of mice and men will fail leaving them unhappy. The author
Robert burns shows in To a Mouse his negative opinion directed towards achieving dreams.
Steinbeck shares the same negative opinions about the dream in his essay, America Americans: Is
the American dream even possible? , he shows a general negative attitude towards the topic of the
American dream. In this essay, he states his opinion on the unachievable American dream which is
much like the dream of the of the

Art Analysis Of Thomas P. Anshutz s A Rose
The image I chose for this paper is titled A Rose. The image is a painting painted in oil on a
canvas and was painted by Thomas P. Anshutz. The painting was produced in Pennsylvania during
1907. I researched this image on ARTstor by using the term realism and then I narrowed down my
search by selecting a filter to return paintings as well as setting the geography filter to North
America. The painting belongs to The Metropolitan Museum of Art s collection and is on display
in the American Wing in the gallery of Images of Woman
from 1880 to 1910.
I selected this painting because the colour contrast of the pink dress against the dark background
caught my eye. I also found the expression of the young woman to be interesting.
The painting depicts a young woman in a pink dress sitting down. The background is very dark
but three things can be made out by the viewer. Starting with the ground plane of the painting, an
orange carpet can be seen covering the entire floor. It is patterned and contains yellows, greens
and blues. The cool toned colours are darker in hue than the warm toned. Secondly, there appears
to be a cabinet or a desk lining the wall behind her. The wood of the cabinetry is carved with
detailed designs and is made of a dark stained wood. Despite the dark background a single red rose
can be seen on top of the cabinetry. The rose looks freshly picked and shows no signs of withering
in its petals. It is painted in a muted red colour that allows it to stand out on

Third Person Research Paper
The third person is my younger brother Mikey. As kids we didn t always get along, our
arguments would turn into fist fights. Now we don t always see eye to eye but we try to
understand each other. Mikey has this bad habit of using loaded language (115) whether he was
upset or just joking around. He would make mean comments about me but always made sure
that Tifiny never got any of that. If someone tried to yell at her or say something bad about her
he would turn into the protective older brother. One thing that makes me jealous of my brother is
that he is so outgoing and friendly. He got that from my mom because I know for a fact that my
dad isn t like that. He has always been able to make friends easily. I envied his ability to do that. He

His direct definition (47) was always to be there and open. He has and probably will not let
anyone change anything about him. Sometimes I wonder if it s his ADHD that has made him so
confident and so easy going. I wonder if he has days like me that he wants nothing to do with
anyone. I look at him and he s always with someone, so I figure that he will always be a social
butterfly. When we were young we moves around a lot. I was always by his side so he wouldn t
feel alone until he made friends. Even though he never had problems with making friends in the
places that we lived. When we moved to Towaoc he had a little harder time because the kids
around here weren t as friendly as the other places that we lived. Soon he found a friend and to
this day they both continue to drive me crazy. They have both made me proud though and I
know that I couldn t ask for a better brother. Now that we are grown we communicate differently.
He still makes mean remarks but deep down I know that it s just how our relationship will always
be. I look at the young man he has become and all I can see is his energy and words ready to

The Pros And Cons Of Aneuploidy Testing
Chromosome aneuploidies are common genetic defects that can lead to diseases such as Down
syndrome. Current methods of aneuploidy testing exist, primarily in the form of chorionic villus
sampling or amniocentesis. Although precise, these tests are invasive and may result in intrauterine
infection and miscarriage.
Of recent, fetal genetic material, found in maternal blood, has been used to screen for fetal
aneuploidy in high risk women. This allows a potentially safe and easy means for detecting
chromosomal abnormalities during pregnancy by means of a simple blood draw. However,
limitations of cell free DNA screening performance creates issues for expecting parents. Failure of
cell free DNA screening ranges from approximately 1% to 8% and ... Show more content on

Maternal mosaicism, undetected tumors, the vanishing twin syndrome, and confined placental
mosaicism, as well as technical errors, are possible causes of NIPS false positive results. However,
correct identification of the causes and eliminating the false positives of NIPS may improve the
PPV.
Using MPSS with GC sequence bias corrections, the authors developed a wide separation of Z
score thresholds for affected and unaffected pregnancies. Affected pregnancies had a Z score 8 and
unaffected pregnancies had a Z score 4. Further investigation led to the correct identification of the
abnormality due to maternal microduplications and global maternal copy number variation.
Although rare, these causes for NIPS false positive results could be identified using the new
detection screen and improve the PPV.
Unfortunately, the authors report that 10% of the women in the trial that received positive NIPS
results for trisomy 21 elected to terminate the pregnancies without confirmation by amniocentesis.
They remark that biological and technical issues can still account for false positive results and that
NIPS should remain a screening test

Film Fun Home By Alison Bechdel
Alison Bechdel s comic book Fun Home clearly portrays the importance of gender roles in the
society. She mentions in her book incidents which illustrate as to how gender plays a major role in
forming a person s identity. Throughout the book, Bechdel suggests how the society has divided
people into different genders on the basis of appearance, duties and behavioural expectations. The
society as a whole needs to re asses these genderroles so that people don t end up ruining their life
thinking about what the society thinks.
In the beginning of the novel we see a difference of opinion between Bechdel and her dad
wherein, Bechdel wants to dress up her own way whereas her dad wants her accessories to
match her dress. This shows the importance of physical appearance in the society. Throughout
the story we see that Bechdel quarrels a lot with her family in regard to her dress code. Her
family seems to be always telling her to wear appropriate clothes according to her gender.
Bechdel seems to be annoyed with this. She states, Wearing a black dress my father had
wrestled me into, I appear to be in mourning (35). This clearly shows how opposed she is to the
way her father had forced her to dress up. She is a young child who is unaware of how gender
appearances decide the character of a person. Bechdel doesn t care about what the society thinks
about her. For her dressing up the way she wants to is most important. Another instance is when her
dad forces her to

`` My Dream `` By Brittany Maynard
My dream is that every terminally ill American has access to the choice to die on their own
terms with dignity. Please take an active role to make this a reality (qtd Brittany Maynard Fund
). Brittany Maynard Diaz, a 29 year old woman who was diagnosed with Glioblastoma and only
given six months to live, turned her tragedy into a legacy when she chose to die with dignity.
She became an advocate for the Compassion and Choices End of Life Consultation or EOLC
program by sharing her story and decision with everyone in America in an effort to help give
everyone in her situation the same options. She believed in dying with dignity for the same
basic reasons that many others do; constitutionally speaking, it is within everyone s individual
rights, it is an established medical practice used all over the world, and no one should be forced
to suffer needlessly. After researching her diagnosed form of cancer and discussing her options
with her family, any type of treatment given would only destroy the quality of life during the
time she had left to live. What would you do? Imagine going to the doctor after numerous, severe
headaches. The doctor performs a CT scan that reveals a rapidly growing brain tumor. The doctor
breaks down the information, reveals that the tumor is a rare form of cancer, and is inoperable.

Comparison of the Practices and Strategies Utilized in the Korean and Vietnam Wars
Two of the greatest battles which were fought by similar foes were those of the Korean and
Vietnamese wars. Both conflicts involved a communist and capitalist participant(s) which had their
own ideals and reasons for why to include themselves into such conflicts. There are also other
similarities other than the opponents in these wars, such as the military tactics and strategies which
were effectuated during this time. In both cases, the U.S. intervened forcefully introducing large
masses of militia and using a considerable amount of armament, yet on the other hand, their
enemies were supported by their allies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise, the Vietcong received weapons, supplies, and heavy armaments, such as tanks, from the
Russians and Chinese which made the resistance even greater than the U.S. and its allies forces put
together. This was evidenced clearly during the Korean war when the U.N. and U.S. forces arrived
to Korea and forced the North Korean forces back to the 38th parallel and were even about to take
North Korea as well, but as this was about to occur, the human waves created by the Chinese
soldiers were introduced into Korea, retaking North Korea and forcing the allied forces out of
Korea absolutely. Correspondingly, when the U.S. introduced its forces into Vietnam, the Vietcong
received much support from Russia mainly but also from China, which turned the tide of the
encounter and lead the communist Vietnamese to victory.
On a more detailed level, during the mid of the conflicts, there were also several similar points.
Operations on behalf of the U.S. had similar results, such being the case with Rolling Thunder and
search and destroy tactics during the Vietnam war and the attack on North Korea after having taken
the 38th parallel during the Korean War. In the Korean affair, the U.S. attack seemed to have
worked by obtaining control over South Korea and then trying to take control over North Korea as
well, yet this as mentioned before failed since the Chinese overran all of Korea.

The Influence Of The Global Democratic Community Of Nations
itself. Security cooperation initiatives undertaken by USNORTHCOM and USSOUTHCOM are
crucial in the development of viable partners. Despite perceptions to the contrary, Latin America
does exercise its military power globally. In World War II, Brazil deployed an infantry division to
the European theater and Mexico deployed a fighter squadron to the Pacific theater. More recently,
El Salvador conducted multiple troop rotations in Iraq, while Uruguay regularly deploys
peacekeeping forces in Africa. Strengthening alliances and militarycapabilities make it less likely
that a rising power will risk military confrontation with the United Statesand its allies.

The Center for Systemic Peace s Polity Project found almost every country that it studied in the
region scored five or more in its democratic scale, with solidly democratic societies such as Costa
Rica, Uruguay, and Chile trending toward the upper ranks. Only Cuba, Haiti, and Venezuela scored
poorly. Likewise, Freedom House graded totalitarian Cuba as the only unfree country in the region.
Regional public opinion surveys point in a similar direction.
This remarkable synergy leads some experts, such as Parag Khanna, to suggest Elevating South
America to its rightful place as the third pillar of the West alongside Europe and North America .
However, if Khanna s vision of a third pillar is to be realized, the United States will need to
alleviate security concerns that plague the region and drain its potential. The region still faces a
number of issues that interfere with its democratic consolidation and potential for global leadership
roles. Because many of these issues are security issues, they are relevant to U.S. national security
planning.
The most recent difficulties have been authoritarian politics, in the face of which liberal synergies
are automatically dismantled; and criminal violence that impedes countries from fully realizing
their potential. The United States has had its share of negative experiences trying to work on the
first challenge, but there are ways

and sharp metal doctor tools were the first three items I noticed and wondered to myself about
how they were used during sexual play and activity. After taking awhile awkwardly browsing
around by myself trying to be casual, I finally worked up the nerve to ask the worker various
questions about the toys and tools. My face turning a bright shade of red is probably when the
worker realized I felt very uncomfortable asking. She gladly answered and explained everything
to me and made me feel more comfortable about being curious. In class, we briefly discussed

Brady Handgun Violence Protection Act Essay
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:______________________________________________________
The Brady Handgun Violence Protection Act, in short: The Brady Act, was United States
legislation that was passed by Congress in 1993. The Brady Act required a five day waiting
period and criminal background check, performed by state and local law enforcement, for the
purchase of a handgun. The Brady Act was instituted to curtail handgun violence and decrease the
probability of a handgun ending up in a criminal s hands. The legislation was heavily pushed by
Senator James Bradyand his wife, Sarah Brady, after Sen. Brady was seriously injured by a
gunshot wound during the attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan in 1981. The five
day waiting period went into effect on February 28, 1994, and was strongly opposed by the
National Rifle Association (NRA). The NRA indicated the Brady Act was unconstitutional and a
violation of the 10th Amendment. Lawsuits in several states were heard, and finally the Brady Act
was deemed unconstitutional in 1997 by the U.S. Supreme Court, in the case of Printz v. United
States. At that time, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), instituted the National Instant
Criminal Background Check System (NCIS) which would allow for instant background checks of
handgun purchasers, and provisions were made to the Brady Act to satisfy the court. The NCIS
became operational on November 30, 1998. The Brady Campaign indicates over 2.6 million

The Role Of Traditional And Gestational Surrogacy
Surrogates are defined as a women who gestates a fetus for others, usually for a couple or another
woman. (Vaughn, 398) Surrogates have a few types of surrogacy, which are traditional and
gestational surrogacy. Traditional surrogacy is defined as the sperm from either the couple s male
partner or a donor is used to artificially inseminate the surrogate (the surrogate mother ). (Vaughn,
398) Then there is Gestational surrogacy, which is defined as the surrogate receives a transferred
embryo created through IVF using the sperm and egg of others (the contracting couple of donors).
Because the gestational (also called the gestational carrier) does not contribute her own egg, she has
no genetic connection to the baby. (Vaughn, 398) In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Commodity comes into play with surrogacy because commodities are valuable because they are
able to provide enjoyment for the couple and one is able to put a price tag on them. In terms with
surrogacy, the surrogate mother is putting a price tag on her child and receives money for it for the
family that will be looking after the surrogate mother s child. That child will provide a sense of
happiness and turning that couple into a family. Vaughn states, For in this practice the natural
mother deliberately conceives a child with the intention of giving it up for material advantage.
Her renunciations of parental responsibilities is not done for the child s sake, nor for the sake of
fulfilling an interest she shares with the child, but typically for her own sake (and possibly, if
altruism is a motive, for the intended parents sakes). She and the couple who pay her to give up
her parental rights over her child thus treat her rights as a kind of property right. They thereby
treat the child itself as a kind of commodity, which may be properly bought and sold. (Vaughn, 473
474) This quote is evident because parents seem to forget that children should always come first.
Unfortunately with commodity, a commodity has a lot to do with surrogacy. With surrogacy, this is
where children have price tags and that is why commodity exists in surrogacy.
Secondly, a surrogate mother provides a valued service

Business Organization Shareholders vs Social Responsibility

In this essay, I am going to prove that a business organization should be socially responsible in a
successful or an effective manner which will eventually benefit the company s owners or

organization engaging in Corporate Social Responsibility ( CSR ). The effects that will be shown in
this essay would be an increase and decrease in the company s expenses, sustaining and harming
the environment, increase and decrease in sales and customers, improve the lives of people inside

They practice being socially responsible and encourage their clients to do so as well by signing
with their company. The companies Director of Sustainability, Garratt Hasenstab said that their
clients are willing to work with them because the company is focused on creating a healthier and
productive world (Thorpe, 2013).
Companies can also change a certain process or activity in their production to reduce their
greenhouse gas emissions. An example of this is Cisco, a manufacturing company of network
equipment. The company s vision is to reduce greenhouse gas emission in each of their business
functions and processes to build environmental sustainability. After 5 years, they were able to
reduce the greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percent, save $500,000 from reducing their business
travels, and through the use of well known collaborative tools, they were able to increase its
revenue by 30 percent (Cisco Systems Inc., 2014). This illustrates that companies practicing CSR
can reduce expenses and increase sales after a certain amount of years after the implementation of
CSR which increases the profit of the company that benefits the owners or shareholders.
However engaging in CSR is being ethical and sensitive towards the things around the company, it
can also instigate some kind of social irresponsibility. There are entities that try to pursue socially
responsible agendas but end up behaving in a socially irresponsible way

Mere Christianity Book Review
Mere Christianity, if you are looking to read a christian book and trying to get closer in your walk
with the Lord, is a great book to do so. It helps people go through life and see how they should react
and live accordingly to Him. Mere Christianity laid a foundation with me and how I should walk
with Christ. I am a Christian, but this book made me not only grow in my beliefs, but in my view
of life and how we should all live it. If you are looking for an answer, C.S. Lewis is one of the best
authors to write a book like this.
Before I was saved, I did not care. Sure I had morals and I knew what was right and wrong, that s
because I had been going to a christian school for 10 years already, but none of that God stuff really
mattered

Ephesians Historical Background
We must understand Ephesus if we want to understand the Book of Ephesians. Ephesus was a
large prosperous city in Asia Minor. One of the seven wonders of the world was in Ephesus. It
was a large temple dedicated to a goddess named Diana (Artemis). The temple and streets were
lined with immoral goddess prostitutes. It was a very wicked city and immorality flourished and
flooded over into society and families. Paul was clever in using the concepts of holiness, service,
and temple to reveal the power of the Gospel in how it creates a new people born of God dedicated
to His holy purposes.
While Paul was imprisoned on house ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. The Affordable Care Act And Its Effects The Affordable Care Act And Its effects Health Care reform is not a new thing to people of United States. It has revised and altered on many occasions. The health care system is subjected to change due to the influences of several factors. Having an acceptable and affordable form of health care system is needed to insure the good health of the citizens. In today s news, we hear many headlines along the line of The new Affordable Care Act...... and to some of us we might not have any idea what this new act is. This act is known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act created by President Obama and his administration, which still is a work in progress and houses many different public opinions. As a result of passing this act, many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This act, when described, seems to have a positive impact yet there are many issues concerning this act. The affordable care act illustrates the idea of public policy in that it took various representatives of the Obama administration to draw up a plan for this act. For an idea to become a possibility of passing and being implemented, it needs countless hours of crafting and reviewing by the men and women in Congress so that it can be a success. The New York Times summarized the overall impact of the Affordable Care Act on a variety of dimensions. The number of uninsured people have reduced significantly, as a result of this act. Yet, about 7.3 million people remain enrolled in their own private insurance coverage through the online marketplaces but this act still has insured more than enough people and has become a great success story. Additionally, 85% of those who qualified for federal subsidies were aided in paying their premiums. (Tavenner) Moreover, for those who qualified for subsidies through the federal exchange, the subsidies lowered their insurance premium by 76% on average. Yet, the challenge is for middle income persons who don t qualify for subsidies and are more likely to have a hard time accepting premium costs of this act.(Tavenner) New York Times also states that it is too early to tell whether the act has affected health outcomes. • 3. The Animation Of Life In Frankenstein The Animation of Life by Stories: Literature and Society Doctor Frankenstein in Mary Shelley s influential novel never reveals the secrets behind the animation of his monster. Even still, the creature is suddenly thrust into being; thrust into an amalgamation of ebbing and flowing stories and forced to carve out a story of his own. It can be reasoned that everything which exhibits what we classify as life carries with it the capacity to simultaneously create and be shaped by stories. Shelley s intentional decision to keep the methods of the monster s creation hidden allows for the story of the monster itself to be what truly gives him life and consequently, the story of Frankenstein and his monster has breathed life into many modern discussions.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most poignant example being Victor s wedding night, a night which should be shared between him and his new bride. Ultimately, Victor is so caught up in his own story that he does not even begin to reason that his new bride could be the target of his monster s wrath and Victor s beloved dies at the hands of his creation. (Shelley 151) It is interesting to conjecture that getting caught up in one s own story is the opposite of animating life, rather, the loss of life. When one is caught up in their own story, all other stories around it cease to be narratable. By figurative reasoning, when someone s story becomes un narratable, the life which the story sustains can no longer exist. Arthur Frank comments that stories are symbiotic, Stories and people need each other. (Frank 37) A person cannot live without stories and stories can be created, or destroyed, by people. Frankenstein teaches us that stories are dangerous and out of control, but we depend on them to animate life and without them, life ceases to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Us Economy On Top Essay The US should keep US economy on top when it comes to trade. This will provide people in our country with better products and improve the overall standard of living. We would help poorer and more underdeveloped countries than us that need assistance. Also, putting the US economy on top will result in keeping peace with countries. Some say we will focus less on values and more on resources and money and make other countries economy s weaker, but we will still hold on to values unless they get in the way and we will actually help other economies by trading with them even though the US is still on top. We should make sure the US economy is on top so we can help the people in our country have better lives and help and keep peace with countries other than us. Putting the US economy on top will make the citizens of our country have better lives. The US has more money and better resources, so people get better resources, like gas or electricity. We can also get better products like food or cars. Americans buy the Subaru even though it is made in Japan. It s one of the best cars in the world. • 7. King Alexandra The Great Alexandra the great was a Macedonian king. He was born July 356 BC. His parents are King Philipp the second and queen Olympia. When he inherited the Macedonian empire from his father he continued to prolong the empire to great proportions, with the help of his troops. Alexandra is greatly known due to the fact that he conquered more land than any other king, during his time. Alexandra s built an extensive empire that had a cultural impact on the east and west. He also was a great leader as well as a great conqueror, at the young age of twenty years old he was an experienced and trained solider, with his father s aspiration; who was also a great conqueror. He started to form the forces necessary to conquer Persia, and even after he conquered most of Persia he was still displeased and wanted more land.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Alexandra s speech he says I could not have blamed you for being the first to lose heart if I... had not shared in your exhausting marches and your perilous campaigns... you and I have shared the labor and shared the danger, and the rewards are for us all... whoever wishes to return home will be allowed to go... First, the name that groups all of them together is called; a central venous catheter. A PICC line is just one of many. It is described as a peripherally inserted central catheter; otherwise called PICC line. It is a long, thin, flexible tube that is inserted under the skin into a vein in the arm rather than a vein in the neck or chest. ( WebMD ). The purpose of the PICC is to give medicines, fluids and blood products over an extended period of time. Those with cancer, kidney disease, diabetes, Lyme disease and total parenteral nutrition or (TPN) are common reason that a PICC line could be used for. • 9. The Importance Of Commercialization Of Hip Hop Culture It is clear that the hip hop culture plays a huge role in the lives of many people. It has influenced the way people dress, the way they talk, and the way they act. Unfortunately, many big corporations have taken advantage of this and commercialized rap music in order to gain a profit (Blair, 497). Commercialization is a very complex topic; however, it is important to understand. This is because of the fact that when something becomes widely known, such a hip hop and rap have, it is vulnerable to change (Phillips, paragraph 9). An example of this is when author Nicole Phillips states, Hip hop became more about edge and less about the content of the message. It became about sales.... (Phillips, paragraph 9). Therefore, in order to prevent any further change, one needs to understand commercialization and how it works. This paper is going to explore the complexities and nuances of commercialization of the hip hop culture. In order to do this, this paper will consider what commercialization of hip hop culture entails. This paper will also discuss how Elizabeth Blair, author of Commercialization of the Rap Music Subculture, conceptualized commercialization, as well as how she discusses the situation in general. After discussing these topics, the paper will move on to discussing cultural appropriation. This discussion will include how authors describe cultural appropriation, and a debate regarding this topic. To begin, in order to truly understand how complicated the ... • 10. True Bearings And The Geometric Coordinate System TRUE BEARINGS AND THE GEOMETRIC COORDINATE SYSTEM Investigation Introduction A true bearing is a mathematical term used to define the point of the angle measured in degrees, in a clockwise direction, from the north point. A true bearing must always be written using 3 figures, for example, it is written as 042В° rather than 42В°. True bearings are used for specific purposes relating to coordinating geography mapping and navigation. A geographic coordinate system is properly known as GSC is a 3 dimensional surface in a figure of the sphere used to outline specific locations on the planet, Earth. A GSC comprises of different terms such as an angular unit of measure, a datum and a prime meridian all used to find a specific point. Longitudinal and latitudinal waves are the angles measured in degrees from the earth s centre to help outline a specific point on the earth s visible surface. The midway of the latitudinal line is referenced as the equator whilst the midway of the longitudinal line is referenced as the prime meridian. The GSC is used to project a certain point of the earth s surface using latitudinal and longitudinal lines and height using a datum. Aim The aim of this investigation was to develop an understanding of true bearings and the coordinate geographic system. The use of online mapping tools was needed to help develop skills. They represented a part of Europe where the Neanderthals and early humans would have more than likely encountered each other. The same DNA sequence was found in Neanderthals and early humans, but also in ancient cave bears from Croatia and Austria. This made the researchers skeptical of their findings and decided to test for mtDNA stands. When the fossils were further analyzed, the researchers found that the mtDNA embedded in the Neanderthal fossils was of a different strain than that in the early humans, which was of course, different from that of the ancient cave bears. So what does this all mean for the modern world? For starters, it brings scientists one step closer to finalizing the evolution debate. Comparison of the Practices and Strategies Utilized in the Korean and Vietnam Wars Two of the greatest battles which were fought by similar foes were those of the Korean and Vietnamese wars. Both conflicts involved a communist and capitalist participant(s) which had their own ideals and reasons for why to include themselves into such conflicts. There are also other similarities other than the opponents in these wars, such as the military tactics and strategies which were effectuated during this time. In both cases, the U.S. intervened forcefully introducing large masses of militia and using a considerable amount of armament, yet on the other hand, their enemies were supported by their allies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Likewise, the Vietcong received weapons, supplies, and heavy armaments, such as tanks, from the Russians and Chinese which made the resistance even greater than the U.S. and its allies forces put together. This was evidenced clearly during the Korean war when the U.N. and U.S. forces arrived to Korea and forced the North Korean forces back to the 38th parallel and were even about to take North Korea as well, but as this was about to occur, the human waves created by the Chinese soldiers were introduced into Korea, retaking North Korea and forcing the allied forces out of Korea absolutely. Correspondingly, when the U.S. introduced its forces into Vietnam, the Vietcong received much support from Russia mainly but also from China, which turned the tide of the encounter and lead the communist Vietnamese to victory. On a more detailed level, during the mid of the conflicts, there were also several similar points. Operations on behalf of the U.S. had similar results, such being the case with Rolling Thunder and search and destroy tactics during the Vietnam war and the attack on North Korea after having taken the 38th parallel during the Korean War. In the Korean affair, the U.S. attack seemed to have worked by obtaining control over South Korea and then trying to take control over North Korea as well, yet this as mentioned before failed since the Chinese overran all of Korea. ... This remarkable synergy leads some experts, such as Parag Khanna, to suggest Elevating South America to its rightful place as the third pillar of the West alongside Europe and North America . However, if Khanna s vision of a third pillar is to be realized, the United States will need to alleviate security concerns that plague the region and drain its potential. The region still faces a number of issues that interfere with its democratic consolidation and potential for global leadership roles. Because many of these issues are security issues, they are relevant to U.S. national security planning. After taking awhile awkwardly browsing around by myself trying to be casual, I finally worked up the nerve to ask the worker various questions about the toys and tools. My face turning a bright shade of red is probably when the worker realized I felt very uncomfortable asking. She gladly answered and explained everything to me and made me feel more comfortable about being curious. I touched a great amount of different types of dildos made from various materials such as glass, silicone, and rubber. The worker explained each one and who usually prefers which type based on their personal preferences and overall goal of the toy. Some vibrated, some were simple penis shapes. • 37. Brady Handgun Violence Protection Act Essay EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:______________________________________________________ The Brady Handgun Violence Protection Act, in short: The Brady Act, was United States legislation that was passed by Congress in 1993. The Brady Act required a five day waiting period and criminal background check, performed by state and local law enforcement, for the purchase of a handgun. The Brady Act was instituted to curtail handgun violence and decrease the probability of a handgun ending up in a criminal s hands. The legislation was heavily pushed by Senator James Bradyand his wife, Sarah Brady, after Sen. Brady was seriously injured by a gunshot wound during the attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan in 1981. The five day waiting period went into effect on February 28, 1994, and was strongly opposed by the National Rifle Association (NRA). The NRA indicated the Brady Act was unconstitutional and a violation of the 10th Amendment. Lawsuits in several states were heard, and finally the Brady Act was deemed unconstitutional in 1997 by the U.S. Supreme Court, in the case of Printz v. United States. At that time, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), instituted the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NCIS) which would allow for instant background checks of handgun purchasers, and provisions were made to the Brady Act to satisfy the court. The NCIS became operational on November 30, 1998. The Brady Campaign indicates over 2.6 million prohibited gun purchases have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Vaughn, 398) Surrogates have a few types of surrogacy, which are traditional and gestational surrogacy. Traditional surrogacy is defined as the sperm from either the couple s male partner or a donor is used to artificially inseminate the surrogate (the surrogate mother ). (Vaughn, 398) Then there is Gestational surrogacy, which is defined as the surrogate receives a transferred embryo created through IVF using the sperm and egg of others (the contracting couple of donors). Because the gestational (also called the gestational carrier) does not contribute her own egg, she has no genetic connection to the baby. (Vaughn, 398) In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Commodity comes into play with surrogacy because commodities are valuable because they are able to provide enjoyment for the couple and one is able to put a price tag on them. In terms with surrogacy, the surrogate mother is putting a price tag on her child and receives money for it for the family that will be looking after the surrogate mother s child. That child will provide a sense of happiness and turning that couple into a family. Vaughn states, For in this practice the natural mother deliberately conceives a child with the intention of giving it up for material advantage. Her renunciations of parental responsibilities is not done for the child s sake, nor for the sake of fulfilling an interest she shares with the child, but typically for her own sake (and possibly, if altruism is a motive, for the intended parents sakes). She and the couple who pay her to give up her parental rights over her child thus treat her rights as a kind of property right. They thereby treat the child itself as a kind of commodity, which may be properly bought and sold. (Vaughn, 473 474) This quote is evident because parents seem to forget that children should always come first. Unfortunately with commodity, a commodity has a lot to do with surrogacy. With surrogacy, this is where children have price tags and that is why commodity exists in surrogacy. Secondly, a surrogate mother provides a valued service ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I will do so through illustrating the different potential effects of a business organization engaging in Corporate Social Responsibility ( CSR ). The effects that will be shown in this essay would be an increase and decrease in the company s expenses, sustaining and harming the environment, increase and decrease in sales and customers, improve the lives of people inside and outside the company, and the practice of social irresponsibility. The companies Director of Sustainability, Garratt Hasenstab said that their clients are willing to work with them because the company is focused on creating a healthier and productive world (Thorpe, 2013). Companies can also change a certain process or activity in their production to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. An example of this is Cisco, a manufacturing company of network equipment. The company s vision is to reduce greenhouse gas emission in each of their business functions and processes to build environmental sustainability. After 5 years, they were able to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percent, save $500,000 from reducing their business travels, and through the use of well known collaborative tools, they were able to increase its revenue by 30 percent (Cisco Systems Inc., 2014). This illustrates that companies practicing CSR can reduce expenses and increase sales after a certain amount of years after the implementation of CSR which increases the profit of the company that benefits the owners or shareholders. However engaging in CSR is being ethical and sensitive towards the things around the company, it can also instigate some kind of social irresponsibility.
