Concussions And Concussions In Football
According to the 2015 NFL Health and Safety Report, concussions occurring in regular season games
have dropped 35 percent since 2012 (Reyes 2015). Concussions caused by helmet to helmet hits
decreased 43 percent and hits to defenseless players are down 68 percent since 2013 (Reyes 2015).
When injuries do occur, there are more medical professionals on site than ever to assist the athlete 27
healthcare providers are present at NFL games and each team has two orthopedic surgeons, two
primary care physicians, four athletic trainers, one chiropractor and one neurologist or neurosurgeon
unaffiliated with the team (Geier 2016). In addition, the independent athletic trainer in the booth, a
dentist, an ophthalmologist, an anesthesiologist, a radiology tech to take x rays and two paramedics
can assist injured players as needed (Geier 2016). The NFL has also sought to find better technology.
Working with GE and Under Armour, the league held a Head Health Challenge, awarding financial
incentives to companies with innovative ideas to protect athletes from head injuries; these ideas
included an under layer beneath synthetic turf to cushion the blows when players hit the ground, a
helmet with many layers to better absorb impacts and a tether connecting the head to the torso to try to
prevent the head from snapping back suddenly after a football tackle (Geier 2016). Commissioner
Roger Goodell announced that they want to continue improving the game and have a new plan to

Cardiovascular Health And Endothelial Function
According to Simmons and Brown (2013), the sedentary lifestyle is one of the 5 major risk factors for
cardiovascular disease and causing over 3 million deaths each year in worldwide. In the past 10
decades, there are numerous scientific reports pointed out the relationships between cardiovascular
health and physical activities. Based on the US Surgeon General s report on Physical Activity and
Health (1997), evidence from this report shows that more active individual tends to develop less
coronary heart disease (CHD) than sedentary counterparts. Therefore, regular activities have been
proved to have a positive effect on many of established risk factors for cardiovascular disease. This
essay, firstly, will delineate the relationship between cardiovascular health and endothelial function.
And follow by discussing how physical activities benefit cardiovascular health and endothelial
function.
The endothelium is a type of epithelium that lies on the interior surface of lymphatic vessels and blood
vessels, which are vascular endothelial cells and lymphatic endothelium. Vascular endothelial cells
have different functions, such as helps to regulate blood clotting, maintain the vascular homeostasis,
produce vasodilating properties substances or hormones (e.g. NO) to control the blood pressure, and
repair the diseased or damaged via injection of blood vessel cells. Evidence from many scientific
studies shows that there is a strong association between endothelial dysfunction and

The Revolutionary Ideas Of Galileo, Kepler, And Newton
Throughout the seventeenth century many new ideas were brought about as a direct result of the
Scientific Revolution. These ideas challenged the traditional ways of European thought. . With these
new concepts, the idea that science could explain everything, while religion could not, began to
spread. The revolutionary thinkers of that time altered traditional interpretations of nature and
challenged the established sources of knowledge. Among these intellectuals were Galileo, Kepler and
Newton. When combined, their ideas provided enough evidence to develop certain theories and
conclusions about the universe. Galileo was a philosopher and mathematician. Galileo used the
telescope to study astronomy. He experimented many ideas to support the heliocentric model of the
universe as set by Copernicus, and to introduce facts that may have been overlooked in the bible. This
goes in direct opposition of Ptolemy s geocentric model which was supported by the Church because

Starting in the year 1600, he formulated the laws of planetary motion. In other words, he was the first
to realize that the motion of all planets is ruled by the same laws. Kepler then went on to creating 3
laws based on his findings. The first law states that each planet moves around the sun in an ellipse,
with the sun at one focus. According to the second law, planets do not revolve around the sun at a
uniform speed, but they are faster when closer to the sun, and slower when further from it. Kepler s
Third Law states the relationship between the period of motion for a planet and the semi major axis of
the planet s elliptical orbit. The relationship is that the square of the period is proportional to the cube
of the semi major axis. Kepler s interpretations were uncommon because he used mathematics in his
determinations of the laws and didn t just believe in God about what happened in the

Your State Community College Case Study
Originally many schools, including some post secondary colleges, were designed as factories to train
workers (Ackoff Greenberg, 2008). With a focus on reading, writing, and arithmetic, individuals
gained skills needed to complete robotic instructions, but unfortunately, not problem solving
techniques. This concept is still present in many of our schooling systems today including some of
classes and graduation tracks at Your State Community College (YSCC). Founded in 1968, YSCC
serves about 6,000 students preparing them for jobs in both academic and trade careers. Unfortunately,
many of the students who enter the school do not score high enough on the placement examination
and need remedial courses prior to taking college level Math ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Most of the students who take remedial courses spend at least two additional semesters in college to
finish the coursework and over 47% of these students are not able to complete the required Math or
English coursework sequence. It is the duty of the leaders at YSCC to get beyond the coursework and
develop a plan to help all students succeed. To be successful with this change, the Dean of Academic
Affairs must be able to connect with the values, beliefs, and anxieties of the people (Heifetz, Grashow,
Linsky, 2009, p. 38). One of the most important processes will involve the Dean educating the entire
campus community about the need for change. He will need to use concepts from Scharmer and Senge
(2016), and teach all stakeholders to stop downloading and shut down the voice of judgement to be
able to view this problem and solution with a new set of eyes. Furthermore, he will need everyone to
be open to change and open their heart, mind, and will for the success of this project.
In addition to connecting with all factors, the plan will include the leader becoming the change agent
and motivating the masses together (Fullan, 2011). The Dean of Academic Affairs will exemplify the
curiosity, inquiry skills, and scholarly competencies need to investigate an idea and transform it into
meaningful action (Drexel University EdD Keystone 5, 2017). The plan will met be with resistance

America s Fear Of Crime
America s fear of crime has developed an incarceration binge that has resulted in a disparity in
America s prisons, largely, affecting the underclass; dishonored groups caught in a symbiosis of the
ghetto and prison, meaning, that ghettos have become more like prisons, and so undermined the
inmate society, as such, turned prisons, more like ghettos; hence, developed a state wherein the
criminal justice system is the instrument to control the poor (Wacquant, 2010). Inevitably, societal
isolation, constraints the agency of the poor; their racial isolation develops environments, where
residential instability, family disruption and economic inequality facilitate marginality, unequivocally
deprecating poor minorities life chances. Largely, due to socioeconomic forces and manipulation of
institutional arrangements by powerful elites, which in turn, perpetuate the inmate disparity. Thus,
maintains the underclass caste, more succinctly, an American apartheid.
Accordingly, general consensus portrays inner cities (i.e. generally poor black neighborhoods), as the
apparatus of crime. In this view, crime emanates from the poor, and so generates an environment
credible fear that intensifies racism and frantic search for solutions in the form of draconian laws (e.g.,
zero tolerance, War on Drugs policies) that target the underclass and serve to advance formal social
control via prisons. Destitute minorities, disproportionately black and Latino, therefore, are convicted

Spirituality in the Counselor Education Curriculum: A National Survey of Students Perceptions
(Dobmeier Reiner, 2012) is a research report from Counseling and Values. Counseling and Values are
a validated journal of the Association for Spiritual, Ethical, and Religious Values in Counseling
(ASERVIC) and a participant of the American Counseling Association. Counseling and Values are a
professional periodical of philosophy, research, and a well versed opinion concerning the interactions
among mental health, philosophy, religion, social values, and counseling.
Type of Research
Dobmeier and Reiner s research is more of an exploratory design. A study of spirituality in the

and Reiner (2012), are looking at the correlation of what is being taught and the perception of
counselors in training in counseling education curriculum.
Literature Review
According to Dobmeier and Reiner (2012), a holistic model of counseling includes spirituality and an
inherent human factor and elements of multiethnic awareness. The foundation for this study lies in
literature gather from Young, Wiggins Frame, and Cashwell (2002). Young et al., (2002) observations

Social Loafing Essay examples
What is Social Loafing? Social Loafing is something everyone has experienced. Most likely if you do
not like group work this is one of the main reasons why. Social loading describes the tendency of
individuals to put forth less effort when they are part of a group. Because all members of the group are
pooling their effort to achieve a common goal each member of the group contributes less than they
would if they were individually responsible (Cherry). This challenges the common belief that group
work will be more productive. In 1913 a researcher named Ringelmann designed an experiment
involving rope pulling to test the effect of social loafing. His experiment found that when an
individual was put in a group his or her effort was less. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having tasks that are too difficult or are unfamiliar are likely to incite social loafing because they
group member lacks the ability or courage to provide input. Robbins and Judge (2011) theorize that
another cause of social loafing is an uneven equity. When two people are putting in different levels of
input and receiving the same level of output the larger contributor will adjust their input to reduce
cognitive dissonance. Another reason they believe is dispersion of responsibility group members
cannot be held responsible because tasks and roles are not clearly assigned. (Robbins Judge, 2011). In
research by Worchel and others (1998) it was found that groups with friends or familiar members are
far less likely to loaf when compared with groups made up of strangers (Worchel, Rothgerber, Day,
Hart, Butemeyer, 1998) Most people have been in a group made up of friends and colleges they are
familiar with and seen that in these types of groups social loafing is drastically reduced.
Gender and Cultural Difference Karau and Williams explain there are several outlying factors that
affect social loafing such as, gender, culture, and individual/collective rating. Women are less likely
than men to social loaf because of the higher importance placed on being part of or fitting in a group
while men usually place more value on individual performance. In a study of Japanese people about
20% of men and 60% of women did not social loaf (Kugihara, 1999)

Education for Sustainable Development Essay
Sustainability development has three components: environment, society, and economy. If you consider
the three to be overlapping circles of the same size, the area of overlap in the center is human well
being. As the environment, society, and economy become more aligned, the area of overlap increases,
and so does human well being. Therefore, education for sustainable development (ESD) is the use of
education as a tool to achieve sustainability. Simply put, ESD is a way to make the world a safer,
healthier, and more livable place for us and future generations (McKeown, 2002, pgs 7 9).

Since students in grades 3 through 5 typically learn better by incorporating all three learning styles
(visual, auditory, and kinesthetic) into their daily classroom work, instructors for these grades may
find it easier to create and design lesson plans. Including sustainable development on a basic level into
the curriculum at this age is generally not difficult because science and reading classes have usually
touched on the subject of recycling or the environment. A simple, low cost activity would be for
students to make reminder plates for light switches and thermostats in their homes or schools (see
Appendices A and B). This lesson allows students to be creative in designing the reminder plates and
it allows them to teach their families and friends about conserving energy. Another easy, low cost
activity that can actually be done in all grades is creating bird feeders from milk cartons (see Appendix
C). This lesson teaches students how to take already developed materials and reuse them to create
something new. Students can also learn about how solar energy supplies more than just sunlight and
heat to our planet by making solar sweet tea right in the classroom (see Appendix D). This lesson calls
on students observation abilities and allows them to express their findings in their own words. The

Savanna s Kiss Alternate Ending
Savanna s kiss was exciting, not only because of the passion which she was putting into it, but because
of who she was. Ben had never been with a stranger, at least not with someone she had just met that
day. And the feeling of going into the unkown, combined with the sense of being doing something
perhaps inmoral, was exciting and stirred him inside completely.
I never said I wanted to have sex, but if that s what you re looking for, we ll see what we can do, Ben
shrugged and smiled, with a little chuckle. Of course he wanted sex, but he was just happy that she
was that much into him, and he enjoyed teasing and taking advantage of that fact. I don t think you ll
disappoint me. Actually, you didn t disappoint me in your office, I was just probably not in the mood
for being kind. Sorry, he said. And he meant it. He placed one last soft kiss on her lips, this one was
just kind and caring, trying to show that he was not the grumpy man she had met in her clinic. At least
not that night. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Drone Racing Research Papers
Ever wanted to race at speeds of 80 mph, but don t have a driver s license or are under 16? Then drone

Did you know? Drone racing has no real inventor even though there is an entire sport that has
$200,000 payouts along with proposed funding to make it televised event ( kind of like nascar ). It is
considered to be invented in 2015 by people with drones and a dream to make the world s greatest

A problem for the drone league is that the only have a couple hundred pilots and that is a problem if
they want to grow. In October from the 22 26 is the WORLD FINAL RACE and it will be held at
Kualoa Ranch ( the same place the Jurassic Park and Godzilla movies were filmed.) The winner gets
$200,000 and Supreme bragging rights, ( I mean seriously that would be awesome.) The best part is,
we still have ( give or take ) 200 days to qualify. A lap of a 100 meter course can be run in ten seconds
or less. Courses usually are 100 meters long and are made of hoops walls and are full of twists and
turns. Courses may be longer than 100 meters but are generally 100. During the flight the hoops might
light up as drones pass through. At Kualoa Ranch the obstacles are outdoors themed as in, trees, big
leaves and more hoops. The problem with the courses in any sport is you can crash and in drone
racing you crash hard, broken propellers, cameras and cracked bodies are some of the hazards. Drone
racing may seem like it isn t for everyone but if you give it a try, you might just like it. Remember you
might not like it but drone racing is an up and coming sport with large payouts. If you want to try

Artists And The Art Trade
While artists and the art trade were in the business of presenting the new, this was a conceptual
challenge for museums. (Altshuler, 2008, 15). Discuss the challenges that advanced artistic practice
presented for museums in the late 19th and early 20th century.
The period of the second half of the 19th and the beginnings of the 20th century saw some of the most
extensive transformations in the art market and the institution of the art museum in history. With the
rise of the avant garde and new artistic practices, the traditional enlightenment didactic vision of the
museum was put under threat. This essay will focus on the tension between the museum s historicity

However, the works acquired were still exclusively under the strict rule of the Academy, operated by
the state. The rise of progressive artists advocating advanced art, pioneered by the likes of Courbet,
Manet and others caused a re evaluation in the system of these principles. The coming of the avant
garde together with the increased commercialisation of art set in motion an increased tension with the
established institutions. Eventually this culminated in the formation of autonomous exhibition spaces
where artists displayed their works separately from the Academy. This tradition began with the Salon
des Refusés in 1863 and extended to establish a parallel to that which would have been traditionally
the role of the state museums as the academy continued to turn away from progressive art practices.
Although some of the contemporary works were acquired by the state, it was not until 1896 that the
Luxembourg agreed to exhibits works of the impressionists, and it would be even later when state run
institutions would acknowledge the full extent of the modern art tradition.
In the span of the last decades of the 19th century, art in Europe began to focus itself on new
developments in artistic practice. Exhibitions such as the

Jane Jacobs Chapter 11 Analysis
Jane Jacobs begins chapter eleven, about the last condition necessary for the existence of diversity:
that there should be a dense concentration of people including residents. The main success factor in
this condition is based on population density. The chapter starts off by Jacobs beginning statement
supported by Samuel Jackson. The relationship of concentration can also be known as high density to
conveniences and to other kinds of diversity is generally well understood as it applies to downtowns.
Jacobs notes that high dwelling densities have a bad name in orthodox planning and housing theory;
they are supposed to lead to every kind of difficulty and failure. If there is high population densities in
residential areas that does not necessarily mean that it will lead to the slums. There is a supposed
correlation that is incorrect between high densities and trouble, or high densities and slums.

Railroads In The United States
Here, in the United States, finance can be broken up into many sections. In the late 1800 s and early
1900 s these sections included Railroad, Public Utility, and Industrial Finance. The United States had
started a revolution of innovation in this ti,e period with the emergence of railroads. As the industry
grew, companies started seeing the possibility of railroads spreading from coast to coast rather than
local transportation. Railroads relatively small demand for capital was met without bond issues and
did not require the integration of the local secutires markets. (18) They found that a more broad

Maximilien Robespierre And The Reign Of Terror Of The...
Maximilien Robespierre was a revolutionary who significantly influenced and justified the Reign of
Terror. The Reign of Terror was a dark and violent time during the French Revolution. It began when
the Girondins were overthrown by the Jacobins, who were led by Robespierre. Later, the members of
the government had lost to the Jacobins and sans culottes, thus the king was executed. The Jacobins
were the driving force of the Reign of Terror, while Robespierre was the mastermind. The Girondins
were a branch of the Jacobins but they were conservatives and less radical. The Jacobins were the
most radical and ruthless of the political groups, and they identified themselves with the common
people, also known as the sans culottes. In response to their poverty stricken life under the Ancien
Régime, most of the sans culottes became revolutionaries and militant supporters of the French
Revolution. The sans culottes saw popular violence as a political right, therefore they attacked
anything or anyone who was against the revolution. They were determined to avoid street violence,
hence taking violence into their own hands as an instrument of the government. (Linton, Marisa 2006)
In association with Robespierre, the Jacobins started the Reign of Terror. Robespierre and the Jacobins
began to concentrate their power in spreading the Reign of Terror when they dominated the National
Convention. Without delay, they made various harsh laws to frighten anyone who disagreed with
them.

Glorification Of Nature In Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
The power and glorification of nature and how it can be a spiritual source of renewal for individuals is
highlighted through the works of artists of the Romantic period. Rime of the Ancient Mariner by
Samuel Coleridge and Blueback by Tim Winton both display the influences that nature can have on an
individual, spiritually and emotionally, and presents a clearer understanding of the natural world.
The poem by Samuel Coleridge, Rime of the Ancient Mariner depicts a strong belief and interest in
nature and how the natural world can be a place where God can be found. The contrast between the
language of the quotes slimy things and O happy living things demonstrates this change in perspective
as the narrator realises the beauty of nature. During his punishment, the Mariner was able to see the
real beauty of nature and as a result, he had the ability to rejoice and pray about what he was seeing.
By recognising the elegance in the environment that surrounded him, it enabled the Mariner to be free
from his imprisonment. Like the belief in God, the Mariner first feared but finally loved the natural
elements of the world. Throughout the journey, the wonder and beauty of nature and how it can be a
spiritual finding is brought into focus.
Through the use of a metaphor in the quote As if it had been a Christian soul, we hailed it in God s
name. it reveals that the albatross was seen as a connection to God. The albatross was seen as a good
omen and it was the first sign of life

Transactional Analysis In Games And Intimacy
To begin the introduction on games and intimacy it is important to understand the timeline of
Transactional Analysis. To begin with it is vital to note how human behaviour was explained before
Eric Berne suggested his explanations on transactional analysis. One of the important theories to
explain human behaviour before Eric Berne, is the most frequently cited and known work of Sigmund
Freud. Freud s greatest contribution and the one that influenced Berne was the fact that the human
personality is multi faceted. Regardless of the classification or name given to a particular area of
personality, each individual possesses divisions that frequently collide with each other. These

Before Berne first published his theories on Transactional Analysis, he spent years formulating the
framework of this approach. He first defined a transaction as the fundamental unit of social
intercourse. Berne also defined a stroke the fundamental unit of social action. ( Transactional Analysis
, 2015) According to Woollams and Brown, 1978 a stroke is a unit of attention which provides
stimulation to an individual. (Spenceley, n.d.) Berne s description of transactions in Games People
Play is the most easily understood: If two or more people encounter each other... sooner or later one of
them will speak, or give some other indication of acknowledging the presence of the others. This is
called transactional stimulus. Another person will then say or do something which is in some way
related to the stimulus, and that is called the transactional response . (Berne, 1986) Therefore, Berne
challenged the criticisms of the science (or lack thereof) behind psychotherapy, there was no basic unit

we pray in school may come from one religious which may violate others belief. On June 25, 1962,
US Supreme court ruled against prayer in public school. (Engel v. Vitale case)

Tocqueville thought that individualism could be associated with individual value, dignity, happiness,
interests and freedom. At the same time, he endowed it into relatively complete theoretical
connotations (Alexis de Tocqueville, 1988). Firstly, it emphasizes the ultimate purpose is for
individual interests. Society is just a tool that serves people. Secondly, it stresses on individual
freedom and democracy. Thirdly, it points out from personal view the rightness of privatization of
property. American historian Commager thought that individualism eventually became the synonym
of Americanism (1988). In the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English of the 1997 edition,
individualism is defined as two concepts. One is the belief that the rights and freedom of individual
people are the most important rights in a society. The other is the behavior or attitude of someone who
does things in their own way without being influenced by other people. On the contrary, individualism
is defined as pejorative connotation in The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary (2005). It points out that
individualism means some people who just care about their own interests instead of collective
interests, which is not a right idea. By the analysis of the definition of individualism it s clear that the
pattern of Chinese culture stresses people s inner world and embodies in

Implementing A Comprehensive Audit Plan Essay
Abstract
This paper will discuss the hot topics in emerging issues that was discussed in previous assignments.
Several companies can benefit from finding ways to implement a comprehensive audit plan to reduce
the likelihood of fraud occurring. Ideas associated with the SDLC and how to create phases that will
fall in line with this execution are also detailed in this assignment. The SDLC assists in reducing fraud
and cannot be applied lightly; this plan makes the process of fraud prevention and detection easier to
succumb. Updating policies and procedures is an ongoing process that cannot go unkempt.
Establishing a Comprehensive Audit Plan
The acronym SDLC is explained as a software development lifecycle. The phases of the SDLC
include analysis and definition phases, where the purpose should be determined, the goals that need to
be accomplished, and a set of definite requirements. Establishing a comprehensive audit plan is
integral in fulfilling the successful and quality financials for a business. This should be done at the
inception of creating the company as well as routinely checked on a consistent basis. This used in
accordance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act will guarantee that the company has a sure way to mitigate
the fraud opportunity that may occur during the time of day to day operations (Strayer University
2013).
A fraud detection plan will provide the blueprint for a healthy environment in the aspect of protecting
the company and its assets. The plan will give a

Cultural Changes From The 1960 S
Conrad Phillip Kottak has visited the small village of Arembepe numerous times over the years. His
visits were frequent, but spaced out over a couple years, which caused him to begin to notice some
very dramatic changes from the Arembepe he came to know. The development of a more stratified
society caused for some major changes coming to the small community. This essay is going to address
the major cultural changes from the 1960 s to the 1980 s and whether or not the suburbanization of
this village community was good or bad.
Arembepe in the 1960 s consisted of only 159 households (730 people), which made up the small
village community. Malnutrition, poor public health, and high infant mortality struck the village
during this time. Traveling to and from Arembepe proved difficult because it lacked paved roads.
Hardly any people ever visited the village, which is why Kottak often referred to it as being isolated
from the rest of the world. Having no electricity in the village also proved a real struggle for
communication to the outside world. 74% of men in Arembepe worked as fishermen and 11% worked
in business (Kottak 50). In order to make a good living, it was very common for men to have more
than one job. Women would cook, clean, make items for fishing, and help run stores. Overall,
Arembepe in the 1960 s was not a stratified society, but that was soon going to change.
All Arembepeiros were baptized as Catholics, so prior to the 1980 s, Arembepe was mostly ritual free.

Solar Heartbeat
The first discovery that we will talk about in this essay, is the discovery of the solar heartbeat .
Scientists have discovered a pulse within the Sun that lies in the layers of gas that revolve underneath
the surface of the Sun. Scientists discovered that the Sun s equatorial region rotates at rate that differs
from the rate at which the Sun s polar regions rotate. The equatorial region rotating once every twenty
seven days, and the polar regions, every thirty five days. This differential in rotations extends down a
third of the way to the Sun s core, in the convection layer. Rotations at the convection layer also differ
from the Sun s equatorial and polar regions, taking only fifteen to sixteen days to complete a
revolution. It is believed by astronomers that these internal rotating gas layers are in correspondence
with eruptions and solar flares on the surface of the Sun.
The next discovery we will talk about, is the discovery of a giant, dog bone shaped asteroid, located in

Fayol s Management Principles
Introduction
The management and organisations discipline considers Henry Fayol (1841 1925) to be one of the
early practitioners of management who recognised principles and theories of management. Indeed,
current students, teachers and practitioners find Fayol s management principles to be of interest. This
is especially the case since numerous management authors (Bose, 2013: Lamond, 2005: Lewis, 2007)
have the common belief that Fayol s effort founded the elementary framework and principles for
management theory currently being applied. Fayol dedicated a lot of time to endorsing the theory of
administration and throughout this time argued that all business activities precipitate undertakings
which are classified into six groups: financial, commercial, technical, accounting security, and
management (Lamond, 2005). While focusing on the management aspect, Fayol considered it to be a
systematic arrangement and integration of the financial, accounting, production, and sales functions of
the organisation. Hence, the purpose of Fayol s management theory was a way of establishing
management as a different aspect from other technical activities, however, important to the integration
of various organisational activities in order to realise a common objective. In that respect, Parker
Ritson, 2005 posit that Fayol s management principles offered and continue to offer an overall
management outlook for practising managers as well as an instructional manual for academicians in
the management discipline. The objective of this report is to therefore critically discuss Fayol s
perspectives through an analysis of these views as well as other ... Show more content on

lt;Insert Response Here gt; The brain is a crucial part of the human body. Our abilities to learn,
remember things, and feel emotions are controlled by this very vital organ. Also, the spinal cord is a
crucial part of the central nervous system. The nerves that send messages to the body are located all
throughout the spinal cord. Additionally, within the brain there are three major regions. They are
called the central core, the limbic system, and the cerebral cortex, which has four hemispheres. The
four hemispheres are the occipital lobe, the temporal lobe, the parietal lobe, and the frontal lobe.
Found within the central core region of the brain are five different regions. Each region controls
different behavioral functions within the human body. These regions are called the medulla, pons,
cerebellum, thalamus, and hypothalamus.
The medulla is responsible for many vital functions, such as; the heart rate, the regulation of
respiration, and even the blood pressure flow throughout the body. The pons region of the brain is
responsible for the sleep wake cycles. This regulates when the body needs to sleep and awakes the
body when it has had enough sleep. The region called the cerebellum controls bodily movement and

So you don t have time to attend a Time Management seminar, then here are four ideas to help you
create a more productive day. First, the key to such a day is to create more discretionary time and use
it more wisely. Second, remember you are not paid for work, you are paid for results. Third, you need
to control your day instead of it controlling you. The number one idea is to begin by analyzing your
typical day. To do this you need to do a simple Time Log. This is done by taking an 8.5 x 11 sheet of
paper and numbering each line in fifteen minute increments starting with the time you arrive at work.
(Note; do not start when you are supposed to be there but when you actually arrive.) Then, throughout
the day, record your activities. You need to do this for two weeks. Then, look for time wasters and
ways to create more discretionary time.
There are two kinds of time; discretionary meaning you have a choice of how to spend it, and non
discretionary that which is taken up by job functions, meetings, and appointment. Your time

David Hume and His Thoughts Essay
David Hume and His Thoughts
Hume begins his argument by observing that there is a great variety of taste, as well as of opinions,
which prevails the world. This diversity is found among people of the same background and culture
within the same group and is even more pronounced among distance nations and remote ages. A
standard of taste would provide a definite way to reconcile this diversity. By taste, Hume refers to
impressions or emotional responses associated with beauty and ugliness. Each person perceives beauty
differently or, in other words, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Hume then starts to outline this
thesis. Sentiments are subjective and can neither be right or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Beauty, however, exists in the minds of the individuals contemplating it and thus each individual
perceives beauty differently.
3. 5 Principles of Taste of the Ideal Critic
The Ideal Critic possesses delicacy of taste, practice, unprejudiced mind, ability to engage in
comparison, and overall good sense. Hume defines delicacy of taste as thus: where the organs are so
fine, as to allow nothing to escape them, and at the same time so exact as to perceive every ingredient
in the composition. He then uses the story of the two kinsmen from Don Quixote to illustrate this
concept. The main point of this story is that some individuals are more sensitive to subtle differences
in an artwork and that delicacy of taste is required to make a judgment. The ideal critic can improve
their delicacy of taste through practice and comparison. In order to do so, the critic must free the mind
from prejudice by being a disinterested observer. The last attribute of an ideal critic is good sense,
which means the ideal critic must be intelligent and rational.
4. Characteristics that Account for Differences in Taste
Hume identifies two characteristics that may account for the differences of taste: the different humors
of men and particular manners and opinions of our age and country. Maturity, character, position, and
culture are unavoidable influences on the judgments

(NASA,1986). Thus the Space Shuttle, which was considered as merely the transport element of a
broad earlier, was reused and became the concentration of NASA s near term future. Challenger, as
NASA s second orbiter which was put into service after Columbia in Space Shuttle program, began its
maiden flight on April 4th, 1983. It made nine flights in total prior to 1986. Owing to payload
changes, cold weather, and other technical problems, Challenger was rescheduled continually and

Since the Challenger event of 1986, Orbiter abort capabilities, improvement of these capabilities,
options for crew escape, and the performance of the range safety system became significant concerns
of Commission. The event caused following important shuttle missions to be put on hold or canceled
in a certain period and plunged NASA into a soul searching. Because investigators of soul searching
found that NASA had continually ignored serious technical problems, they criticized that NASA has a
silent safety program (NASA, 1986). Prior to occurrence of the event, several safety waivers had been
granted or were pending owing to lack of time and funds. After the event, some of approved safety
waivers were required to reconsider. Furthermore, compared to $15.5 billion in fiscal 1986, the budget
of NASA increased to approximately $21 billion in 1987 and continued to trend upward for the next
half decade (NASA, 1986). Even so, Norman Augustine, who is appointed by the Obama
administration to lead a panel to examine plans of NASA, states that NASA has usually faced a
situation that identified goals disconnects with funds that carrying out the goals since the Challenger

Are Social Networking Sites Good for Our Society Essay
Liliana Katiana English I May 18, 2013 Are Social Networking Sites Good For Our Society? Many
people in our society can relate. We wake up, check our phones. We go to school, check our phones.
We go home, check our phones. And right before we go to bed, we check our phones. And for what?
What are we constantly checking? Imagine logging out of social networking sites for one day. How
would you feel? You would probably feel disconnected and want to log back on as soon as possible.
This generation uses these websites to connect, to stay in the loop, and to become involved. However,
people will take advantage of the use of these websites, and in return, the websites take over the
majority of their life. The act of constantly wanting to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When online, people are blocked off from hearing and seeing these non verbal suggestions. As human
beings, our only real method of connection is through authentic communication. Studies show that
only 7% of communication is based on the written or verbal word. A whopping 93% is based on
nonverbal body language. (Tardanico). This can be a real problem to society because if a person acts
as if he or she was fine online, they could really be hiding their true feelings, and others would never
know. Awash in technology, anyone can hide behind the text, the e mail, the Facebook post or the
tweet, projecting any image they want and creating an illusion of their choosing. (Tardanico). The
person may be feeling upset, depressed, or suicidal, and all others can see is the way they pretend to
be online. Without nonverbal cues, others will never know the true emotions behind the computer or
phone screen. Another issue if that Soon, they will neglect their family and friends as they are too
engrossed with the social networking sites... (Social Networking Destroyed Communication Essay).
Essentially, social networking sites have caused families to slowly drift farther apart. As well, family
bonds and friendships are being worn down and broken. Social networking has caused the importance
of face to face communication to lessen; now we depend on little emoticons and the way the person

Wrongful Convictions And Its Effect On Society
Introduction Many of us are familiar with historical films such as The Shawshank Redemption , but
the reality is that wrongful convictions have occurred throughout history and although less frequently,
still occur today. A wrongful conviction can greatly impact an individual s life and may continue to be
an issue even after exoneration. Many people are under the impression that individuals who are
wrongfully convicted and later exonerated have won the battle over the justice system, however this is
rarely the case. Exonerees experience great amounts of hardship once released back into society. There
are flaws in the justice system, which make it extremely difficult for exonerees to experience true
freedom. Wrongful convictions occur not only in the United States, but also across the entire globe. It
is a serious injustice when an innocent person is forced to experience life as a convicted felon. Causes
of Wrongful Convictions Although numerous cases of wrongful convictions have been documented in
the literature and in the media, criminologists have yet to devise a methodology for estimating the
extent of such errors in the criminal justice system. (Poveda, 2001) Since DNA testing has been
utilized in the justice system, wrongful convictions have become less frequent and exoneration rates
have increased. There are many factors involved when consider the causes of wrongful convictions.
Eyewitness misidentification is a leading cause for wrongful convictions. (Innocence

Standardized Testing Is Not Beneficial
Standardized Testing
In the world today standardized testing is mandatory in all schools whether they are public or private.
If schools continue to make these test mandatory, students grades will show the reflection of what they
are not learning. The school might also receive less state funding due to poor performance on these
tests. Once No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) was introduced US students slipped from 18th in the
world in math in 2000 to 31st in 2009 (Standardized). Standardized testing is not beneficial overall
because it does not cater to all students, they do not cover real life topics, and they are detrimental to
students.
Standardized tests do not cover real life topics. Standardized tests are less educational than parents
think. States make schools take these tests in order to get more funding and to see how the teachers are
performing. These tests have many effects on the students and their grades. The Kansas Silent Reading
Test is one of the first known multiple choice standardized test in America. This test was created to
reduce Time and Effort in administration and scoring (Standardized). Although schools do use the
standardized testing methods in the classrooms today that was not what it was originally used for.
Standardized testing began in the United States during WWI because the Army needed a method to
determine which soldiers were Officer Material (Billy 75).
Students in grades 4 12 have to take some type of standardized test every

Cardiovascular Health And Endothelial Function According to Simmons and Brown (2013), the sedentary lifestyle is one of the 5 major risk factors for cardiovascular disease and causing over 3 million deaths each year in worldwide. In the past 10 decades, there are numerous scientific reports pointed out the relationships between cardiovascular health and physical activities. Based on the US Surgeon General s report on Physical Activity and Health (1997), evidence from this report shows that more active individual tends to develop less coronary heart disease (CHD) than sedentary counterparts. Therefore, regular activities have been proved to have a positive effect on many of established risk factors for cardiovascular disease. This essay, firstly, will delineate the relationship between cardiovascular health and endothelial function. And follow by discussing how physical activities benefit cardiovascular health and endothelial function. The endothelium is a type of epithelium that lies on the interior surface of lymphatic vessels and blood vessels, which are vascular endothelial cells and lymphatic endothelium. Vascular endothelial cells have different functions, such as helps to regulate blood clotting, maintain the vascular homeostasis, produce vasodilating properties substances or hormones (e.g. NO) to control the blood pressure, and repair the diseased or damaged via injection of blood vessel cells. These ideas challenged the traditional ways of European thought. . With these new concepts, the idea that science could explain everything, while religion could not, began to spread. The revolutionary thinkers of that time altered traditional interpretations of nature and challenged the established sources of knowledge. Among these intellectuals were Galileo, Kepler and Newton. When combined, their ideas provided enough evidence to develop certain theories and conclusions about the universe. Galileo was a philosopher and mathematician. Galileo used the telescope to study astronomy. • 9. Social Loafing Essay examples What is Social Loafing? Social Loafing is something everyone has experienced. Most likely if you do not like group work this is one of the main reasons why. Social loading describes the tendency of individuals to put forth less effort when they are part of a group. Because all members of the group are pooling their effort to achieve a common goal each member of the group contributes less than they would if they were individually responsible (Cherry). This challenges the common belief that group work will be more productive. In 1913 a researcher named Ringelmann designed an experiment involving rope pulling to test the effect of social loafing. His experiment found that when an individual was put in a group his or her effort was less. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having tasks that are too difficult or are unfamiliar are likely to incite social loafing because they group member lacks the ability or courage to provide input. Robbins and Judge (2011) theorize that another cause of social loafing is an uneven equity. When two people are putting in different levels of input and receiving the same level of output the larger contributor will adjust their input to reduce cognitive dissonance. Another reason they believe is dispersion of responsibility group members cannot be held responsible because tasks and roles are not clearly assigned. (Robbins Judge, 2011). In research by Worchel and others (1998) it was found that groups with friends or familiar members are far less likely to loaf when compared with groups made up of strangers (Worchel, Rothgerber, Day, Hart, Butemeyer, 1998) Most people have been in a group made up of friends and colleges they are familiar with and seen that in these types of groups social loafing is drastically reduced. Gender and Cultural Difference Karau and Williams explain there are several outlying factors that affect social loafing such as, gender, culture, and individual/collective rating. Women are less likely than men to social loaf because of the higher importance placed on being part of or fitting in a group while men usually place more value on individual performance. In a study of Japanese people about 20% of men and 60% of women did not social loaf (Kugihara, 1999) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If you consider the three to be overlapping circles of the same size, the area of overlap in the center is human well being. Therefore, education for sustainable development (ESD) is the use of education as a tool to achieve sustainability. The rise of progressive artists advocating advanced art, pioneered by the likes of Courbet, Manet and others caused a re evaluation in the system of these principles. The coming of the avant garde together with the increased commercialisation of art set in motion an increased tension with the established institutions. Eventually this culminated in the formation of autonomous exhibition spaces where artists displayed their works separately from the Academy. This tradition began with the Salon des Refusés in 1863 and extended to establish a parallel to that which would have been traditionally the role of the state museums as the academy continued to turn away from progressive art practices. Although some of the contemporary works were acquired by the state, it was not until 1896 that the Luxembourg agreed to exhibits works of the impressionists, and it would be even later when state run institutions would acknowledge the full extent of the modern art tradition. The relationship of concentration can also be known as high density to conveniences and to other kinds of diversity is generally well understood as it applies to downtowns. • 18. Glorification Of Nature In Rime Of The Ancient Mariner The power and glorification of nature and how it can be a spiritual source of renewal for individuals is highlighted through the works of artists of the Romantic period. Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Coleridge and Blueback by Tim Winton both display the influences that nature can have on an individual, spiritually and emotionally, and presents a clearer understanding of the natural world. The poem by Samuel Coleridge, Rime of the Ancient Mariner depicts a strong belief and interest in nature and how the natural world can be a place where God can be found. The contrast between the language of the quotes slimy things and O happy living things demonstrates this change in perspective as the narrator realises the beauty of nature. During his punishment, the Mariner was able to see the real beauty of nature and as a result, he had the ability to rejoice and pray about what he was seeing. By recognising the elegance in the environment that surrounded him, it enabled the Mariner to be free from his imprisonment. Like the belief in God, the Mariner first feared but finally loved the natural elements of the world. Throughout the journey, the wonder and beauty of nature and how it can be a spiritual finding is brought into focus. At the same time, he endowed it into relatively complete theoretical connotations (Alexis de Tocqueville, 1988). Firstly, it emphasizes the ultimate purpose is for individual interests. Society is just a tool that serves people. Secondly, it stresses on individual freedom and democracy. Thirdly, it points out from personal view the rightness of privatization of property. American historian Commager thought that individualism eventually became the synonym of Americanism (1988). In the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English of the 1997 edition, individualism is defined as two concepts. One is the belief that the rights and freedom of individual people are the most important rights in a society. The other is the behavior or attitude of someone who does things in their own way without being influenced by other people. On the contrary, individualism is defined as pejorative connotation in The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary (2005). It points out that individualism means some people who just care about their own interests instead of collective interests, which is not a right idea. • 29. Cultural Changes From The 1960 S Conrad Phillip Kottak has visited the small village of Arembepe numerous times over the years. His visits were frequent, but spaced out over a couple years, which caused him to begin to notice some very dramatic changes from the Arembepe he came to know. The development of a more stratified society caused for some major changes coming to the small community. This essay is going to address the major cultural changes from the 1960 s to the 1980 s and whether or not the suburbanization of this village community was good or bad. Arembepe in the 1960 s consisted of only 159 households (730 people), which made up the small village community. Malnutrition, poor public health, and high infant mortality struck the village during this time. Traveling to and from Arembepe proved difficult because it lacked paved roads. Hardly any people ever visited the village, which is why Kottak often referred to it as being isolated from the rest of the world. Having no electricity in the village also proved a real struggle for communication to the outside world. 74% of men in Arembepe worked as fishermen and 11% worked in business (Kottak 50). In order to make a good living, it was very common for men to have more than one job. Women would cook, clean, make items for fishing, and help run stores. Overall, Arembepe in the 1960 s was not a stratified society, but that was soon going to change. All Arembepeiros were baptized as Catholics, so prior to the 1980 s, Arembepe was mostly ritual free. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Solar Heartbeat The first discovery that we will talk about in this essay, is the discovery of the solar heartbeat . Scientists have discovered a pulse within the Sun that lies in the layers of gas that revolve underneath the surface of the Sun. Scientists discovered that the Sun s equatorial region rotates at rate that differs from the rate at which the Sun s polar regions rotate. The equatorial region rotating once every twenty seven days, and the polar regions, every thirty five days. This differential in rotations extends down a third of the way to the Sun s core, in the convection layer. Rotations at the convection layer also differ from the Sun s equatorial and polar regions, taking only fifteen to sixteen days to complete a revolution. It is believed by astronomers that these internal rotating gas layers are in correspondence with eruptions and solar flares on the surface of the Sun. • 31. Fayol s Management Principles Introduction The management and organisations discipline considers Henry Fayol (1841 1925) to be one of the early practitioners of management who recognised principles and theories of management. Indeed, current students, teachers and practitioners find Fayol s management principles to be of interest. This is especially the case since numerous management authors (Bose, 2013: Lamond, 2005: Lewis, 2007) have the common belief that Fayol s effort founded the elementary framework and principles for management theory currently being applied. Fayol dedicated a lot of time to endorsing the theory of administration and throughout this time argued that all business activities precipitate undertakings which are classified into six groups: financial, commercial, technical, accounting security, and management (Lamond, 2005). While focusing on the management aspect, Fayol considered it to be a systematic arrangement and integration of the financial, accounting, production, and sales functions of the organisation. Hence, the purpose of Fayol s management theory was a way of establishing management as a different aspect from other technical activities, however, important to the integration of various organisational activities in order to realise a common objective. In that respect, Parker Ritson, 2005 posit that Fayol s management principles offered and continue to offer an overall management outlook for practising managers as well as an instructional manual for academicians in the management discipline. First, the key to such a day is to create more discretionary time and use it more wisely. Second, remember you are not paid for work, you are paid for results. Third, you need to control your day instead of it controlling you. The number one idea is to begin by analyzing your typical day. To do this you need to do a simple Time Log. This is done by taking an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and numbering each line in fifteen minute increments starting with the time you arrive at work. (Note; do not start when you are supposed to be there but when you actually arrive.) Then, throughout the day, record your activities. You need to do this for two weeks. Hume defines delicacy of taste as thus: where the organs are so fine, as to allow nothing to escape them, and at the same time so exact as to perceive every ingredient in the composition. He then uses the story of the two kinsmen from Don Quixote to illustrate this concept. The main point of this story is that some individuals are more sensitive to subtle differences in an artwork and that delicacy of taste is required to make a judgment. The ideal critic can improve their delicacy of taste through practice and comparison. In order to do so, the critic must free the mind from prejudice by being a disinterested observer. The last attribute of an ideal critic is good sense, which means the ideal critic must be intelligent and rational. 4.
