My Favorites Of Monisha As A Show On Indian Television
This was hands down one of the best sitcoms that ever aired on Indian Television. We loved each and
every character from this series. My personal favorite of all was Maya S. The character was so classy,
sophisticated and oh so perfect! She would never leave a chance to mock Monisha with her sarcastic
comments. And we know that those middle class comments were often intended as a joke. We as a
population from that middle class category never felt that the comments were derogatory in any sense.
Like Manisha, I mean Monisha had a sarcastic mother in law, we too similarly have either a sarcastic
parent, sibling, friend, relatives or colleague.
We all have at least one person in our lives who are great at passing snide remarks, these people love
to tease us and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If they set out to make you look bad or foolish then be it. Tell the person that they are wasting their
valuable time over ridiculing an incompetent person, and they wouldn t benefit from it anyway. And
who knows, they might just discontinue their practice.
4)Now, there are some people who think they are smart and use sarcasm to get noted among their
peers. So what you can do in this situation is ask people around you to acknowledge their special
talent and give a standing ovation, and if no one gets up to clap, then you could tell that smarty pants
that they need to work hard on their talent in order to get recognized.
5)Lastly, if someone criticizes you on your clothes or something that you are regular with, for
instance, you probably have seen K3G, where Kareena is seen poking fun at her fellow college mate s
top wear and walks off saying tumhe kaafi suit karta hai. Well, if you too face a similar situation, what
you can do is express your admiration for their keen observational skills. Ask them how they do it
everyday without fail? This is surely going to burn them! And you never know, they might just begin
conducting themselves in a better way around

A Brief Review Of Major Collins Running Out Of Music
Constance Squire s Running Out Of Music portrays Major Collins as a minor character, but in reality
his misunderstanding of music and the importance of it plays in Lucinda s development of identity
plays an integral role in the short story through the theme of the unknown importance of music.
Constance Squires uses Major Collins wrongful judging judging of the band Sex Pistols name to show
his stubbornness in accepting the importance of music. At this point in the story, Lucinda and her
father have just entered the army camp dormitory and are going to see Natley. Major Collins
introduces Natley and Lucinda and waits outside. Lucinda asks him to record some songs and it leads
into a conversation. Natley brings up the band Sex Pistols ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story is coming to an end. At this point Nately has already died and his room is being cleared out.
While this is happening, Major Collins thinks it would be a good idea to give Nately s music to
Lucinda. Major Collins told Lucinda, That reminds me sweetie, I keep forgetting to tell you. Yeah.
When I heard he died, I went over and got these for you. He pointed to behind where Lucinda is
standing. In the far corner of the room, under the windows, sat Nately s crates of records, lined up
against the wall. I didn t try for the turntable it looked like an expensive piece of equipment, so I
thought his folks might want it. But these would have probably just been thrown away, or all the other
GIs would have divided them up. I thought you should have them . (18 19). Nately s crates are In the
far corner of the room , which symbolizes how unconnected Collins is with music. Also, Major
Collins focuses on the price of Nately s items, as he describes the turntable as an expensive piece of
equipment . While on the other hand, Nately s music in Major Collins eye, is perceived as junk. The
music is seen as to Major Collins junk because Collins believes there is no monetary value so he
assumes that, these probably would have been just thrown away . He does not realize the significance
of the music

Main Goals of The Progressive Movement Essay
In the late nineteenth century to early twentieth century the Progressive Era was moving to reshape
America. Progressivism was a political movement that encouraged the exposure of corruption in
America in order to reshape it for the better. This time period became known for the social and
political changes that took place as a result of the progressives. Progressivism ruled the country,
changing the way Americans lived and the way politics affected them. One of the main goals of the
progressive movement was to use democracy to regulate the government by exposing the corruption
of government officials. Another area in which the progressives moved for change was business. In

He was most known for his book The Jungle, which became a worldwide bestseller and dramatically
changed food regulation during the Progressive Era. Many people saw the results of this book as good,
but they did not see the corruption it caused. Upton Sinclair s The Jungle changed food regulation in
America forever, but the effects that came about because of The Jungle were more detrimental than
beneficial.
Upton Beall Sinclair grew up in a poor family, always moving around from city to city with his father
s job as a salesman. His mother, Priscilla Sinclair, had rich relatives on her side of the family whom
Upton would visit with some regularity. As he grew up this allowed him to see how the rich and the
poor lived, giving him an insight that shaped his career as a writer and journalist. He did not have a
good relationship with either his mother or father, causing him to become independent at a young age.
When he was just fourteen his family moved to New York city and he started writing to pay for his
tuition at the City College of New York. He went on to graduate from Columbia University, paying his
way with stories he wrote. His early career consisted of small novels and journal articles that never
became well known. Upton Sinclair often wrote for the socialist journal Appeal to Reason, showing
his socialist ideals. Growing up in poverty and visiting wealth caused him to have these socialist
views. The crowning point of his career came

The World Of Modern Architecture Essay
Z Marcel The TIME magazine in 1956 defined Breuer as one of those great designers and architects
that have moulded the 20th century . As a designer, with his tubular steel furniture, he has written the
history of design: his Wassily chair, in fact, has became an icon of modern living. As an architect he
has been one of the most innovative and interesting ones of his time, but, unfortunately, this role has
not been so often recognized in him by the historians.
M. Breuer belongs to a generation to which time and fame have not been so generous with. W.
Gropius, Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier, in fact, when Breuer was in his twenties, had already
began to give their contribute to the birth of a new era in architecture: the Modern Movement. Only in
the latest years the critics have started to give to his figure the role that truly belongs to him: the role
of one of the major protagonists of modern architecture.
M. Breuer was not only one of the most prolific architects of his time but also one of the most
innovative and interesting ones. He possessed an excellent sense related to proportions, forms and
materials. To be able to comprehend his art, we need to take time, to spend time in front of his regular,
sculptural forms. That s probably what truly and deeply attracts of Breuer s architecture: the extra
ordinary vigour.
M. Breuer art doesn t know frailty or weakness. It s exactly like its creator. It precisely shows the
temperament of his author: a strong.

Indian Camp Analysis
Kian Cato September 17, 2017
From fishing trip to the birth of a baby to an unexplained suicide, Nick has had a very interesting day.
Indian Camp is centered around the main character Nick who is a young boy and his father is a doctor.
From the short story Indian Camp , by Ernest Hemingway, Nick experiences his first time seeing
several things happening as graphic as child birth with C section and suicide, things he had never seen
before and had no idea that he was about to experience that in his life. From the reading, the young
Indian seems reluctant to look at the episode head on however he was a good help to his dad. I also
observed that Nick is not a tough person, that he is sensitive, passionate and caring. Oh, daddy can t
you give her something to make her stop screaming? I think that Nick might have been too young to
be experiencing such a grownup episode as childbirth and under the circumstance as a C section and
mortality. I also think that his father may have pushed this experience on him a little too soon. As it
turns out Nick still too young to really process the idea of mortality and Nick s father had to explain to
him a whole lot more than he expected to do. He was looking away so as not to see what his father
was doing. Nick did not watch. His curiosity had been gone for a long time.
In the Indian Camp there was a young boy named Nick who goes on an adventure with

No Regert Analysis
No Regerts . I m sure most of you have seen pictures online of people proudly posing with their
tattoos that read No regerts . And of course that s kind of redundant because now they have a tattoo
that they surely regret the spelling of. Regret. Something almost everyone has to live with on a daily
basis. But what is regret? Regret is defined as a feeling of sadness, repentance, or disappointment over
something that has happened or been done. Not having any regrets is something a lot of people pride
themselves on. But is regret really that bad? You probably think I m crazy for saying that, but the fact
is, not being able to feel regret is a characteristic of a sociopath. So unless you want to be committed
to a psych ward, you have to learn to live with the regret you have. The fear of regretting the decisions
you make is so intense ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

only thing I could think of was There is NO way that just happened. I tried to convince myself I was
dreaming, because there is absolutely NO WAY I just got kicked out of my best friend s bat mitzvah in
front of about 300 people. The next thing I felt was just flat out bewilderment. Like Oh my god I
cannot believe that just happened. How did that even happen. What am I gonna do? Then I was like, I

What Is The Theme Of Killing Lizards
Killing lizards
All children search for attention, love and acceptance through their childhood. If a child doesn t
receive attention, love and acceptance, in which way can they find the trust to be themselves? They
will be stuck in an uncertain world, where they have no trust in themselves and difficult to evolve their
identity.
In the short story, killing lizards, the main charachter is the 12 year old English boy, Gavin. Gavin s
family moved to Africa to years before the story takes place. Gavin seems to be like any other
common boy, but the reality is something else. Gavin misses attention from his mother, and wishes
that she could pay more attention to him. He is especially jealous of his sister Amanda because he
believes that she grabs all the attention from their mother. That is very clear in this quote. (Page 3,
lines 63 64 he wished she bothered about him more, did things with him as she did with Amanda .)
Gavin frequently dreams about his father and sister dying in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is because his father and sister are two rivals for him, in the battle for his mother s love, but if
they die, Gavin would be the only one who receives the mother s love. He is well aware that it s
wrong, and he tries to stop thinking about it, but deep inside he wants the dream to become a reality.
These fantasies are obviously because of a strong Oedipus complex between the child and his mother,
which is evidently seen in the way he wants people to think of them in his fantasy. (Page 2, lines 31
34: People would look at them in the street and whisper, I don t know what she would have done
without him and Yes, he s been wonderful and They re so close now .) These fantasies are entirely
naturally expectable for a child who clearly doesn t get maternal attention and love enough, and it is
clearly seen in this quote. (Page 3, lines 56 61: Oh. Well I m going out too.

Capitalism And Capitalism
Capitalism, as Speth explains, is an economic system that is geared toward accumulation of profit, its
tendency to change and expand. Root explains that the developed world has necessary tools to guard
themselves against uncertainty and risk. They also can count on social institutions and welfare
programs to manage risks. Engaging business activities, developed world is dealing with risk by
developing products and marketing, for instance. Developing and marketing new products require
capital, and capitalism by nature is geared toward capital accumulation, to make profits. Whereas, as
Root points out, the developing nations don t have enough capital to improve their lives and climb out
of poverty. The idea is that a poor nation not being able to invest, the economy does not grow, so they
remain poor. According to Root, the wealth gap between the rich and poor nations has widened
tremendously. However, it is necessary to also explore other contributing factors for the economy of
the developing nations not being able to grow.
However, Root explains that uncertainty and risk are the factors how developed countries have grown
rich by turning uncertainty into risk. Of course, the presence of institutions are needed to make the risk
management possible. For example, institutions might discourage people to acquire education to learn
new skills to engage business activities to accumulate capital (p. 4).
Further, innovation is needed to develop necessary technology for economic

Drugs And Anti-Addictive Drugs In Football And The NFL
As many of us do not want to believe it, football is a very dangerous sport and the NFL is full of
controversies. Being a very rugged sport, athletes are exposed to various injuries and are handed
dangerous opioids by coaches and team doctors. Pushing the human body past their designed limit is
harmful in the long run. With the hits that come along in football many players get trauma and have
countless concussions. CTE short for chronic traumatic encephalopathy is degenerative disease found
in people who suffer repetitive brain trauma.
Many former and current NFL players have faced many issues because of painkillers. 52 percent of
the retired players said they used prescription pain medication during their playing days. Of those, 71
percent said they misused the drugs then, and 15 percent of the misusers acknowledged misusing the
medication within the past 30 days. (Barr). Many professional football players are prescribes highly
addictive painkillers by team doctors. A lawsuit against the NFL had been filed for abusing the use of
painkillers and anti inflammatory drugs. Jeremy Newberry former player of the 49er s states Some
games, I m taking two, three Vicodin before the game, two or three Vicodin at halftime, taking a shot
of Toradol before the game, . Toradol is an anti inflammatory drug that reduces the hormones that
cause inflammation and pain. The potency of this drug is equivalent to morphine. For now the NFL
continues to deny all allegations. Athletes start using drugs to be able to perform with untreated
injuries. They later realize that they are unable to function without the use of those drugs. Dan
Johnson of the Miami Dolphins became addicted to painkillers after undergoing two back surgeries for
injuries he acquired while playing. He broke so many bones during his playing days that teammates
called him The King of Pain. Yet his addiction to painkillers had him contemplating suicide. (Barr).
Johnson was taking nearly a thousand vicodin pills a month. Many former players are no facing long
term side effects from long term use of these drugs. Some have commit suicide, and some are still
battling their addiction today.

The Importance Of Confederate Monuments
Confederate Monuments continue to be a hot topic of debate of whether they should be removed or
remain in public places. Throughout history the idea of removing the Confederate Monuments is the
popular choice among decision makers, citing that the monuments have a sense of evilness
consequently flaring up racial emotions. Strong points are continuously being made for the removal of
Confederate Monuments, however the Confederate monuments should remain in public places
because they honor timeless virtues, the monuments would provide an opportunity to reflect upon our
nation s past as well as an opportunity to educate future generations. Confederate Monuments began
to erect across the nation well after the civil war between the 1890 s and 1950 s. There seems to be a
correlation of when these monuments began to pop up and the era of the Jim Crow Segregation. The
highest spike of monuments being built were between the 1900 s and 1920 s. These monuments were
meant to be a teaching point of values to people rather than being a symbol of hate as many people
took them to be. According to Mark Elliot, professor at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro;
The values to which these monuments stood for included a glorification of the cause of the civil war.
Due to the timeless virtues of the men they portray whether it s Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, or
any other confederate war heroes, the Confederate Monuments should remain in public places. Their
image is typically

Most of the symptoms of stomach cancer can be signs of other health issues and usually are not
stomach cancer though. There is no way to tell if you have stomach cancer but if you have any of
these symptoms you should go to the doctor as soon as possibly just to be sure. There are many risk
factors for stomach cancer. Gender is a minor risk factor because men are more likely to get stomach
cancer than women are. Age is a risk factor as well because most people are over the age of 65 when
they are diagnosed with stomach cancer. Ethnicity is a big risk factor because the rate cancer is higher
in Hispanics and African Americans rather than non Hispanic white. Tobacco use is a risk factor for
stomach cancer along with most of every other type of cancer. Smoking doubles the risk for someone
to get cancer. It has been proven that people with Type A Blood are more likely to get stomach cancer
as well. Some other risk factors are things like bacteria infection, diet, earlier stomach surgery,
stomach polyps, and oddly enough, some occupations in coal, metal, and rubber industries are even
risk factors of stomach cancer. There are a few different ways to be diagnosed and/or screened for

In one and half month the single word of one mathematician has turned into a worldwide campaign
against us. AMD, Cyrix, and Nexgen are benefiting most from these events. They proved to have
become quicker in manufacturing clones of our innovative products. Given this shorter time to market,
they may jump on this opportunity to deliver Pentium clones any time. Our strategy to stop
competitors copying our new products was heavy patent protection for the Pentium brand, however if
our brand image is continually damaged to such extent, that protection would not give us the
competitive advantage we expected. Although we have been the chips of choice for most of users,
with the current negative publicity, the competitors may find their niche and expand their market
share. Cost of switching from one type of processor to another (for example from Intel to AMD) is not
significant for computer manufacturers due to the modular nature of this product. We know that this
flaw would not affect any significant portion of the personal users (about 3.7 millions chips sold). The
business users with heavy calculation needs such as engineering and specifically financial sectors

The Spiritual Discipline Of Practicing The Presence
Introduction
Practicing the presence is to develop a continual openness and awareness of Christ s presence living in
oneself . It involves turning your mind to a Christward direction, constantly being thankful and doing
everything for God. This reflective essay will cover numerous aspects of the spiritual discipline of
practicing the presence, including my original understanding, a significant Christian historical figure,
and denomination comparison. Furthermore, different personal experiences of practising the presence,
specifically individual, group and corporate, as well as a reflection on my original ideas and closing

Cystic Fibrosis Introduction
Introduction
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an inherited chronic disease that must be carried by both parents in order to for
the person to suffer from it. If one of your parents has it, then you will definitely be a carrier of the
disease and it will be carried to your offspring. Children who inherit a faulty CFTR gene from each
parent will have CF.
This disease affects organs such as the liver, lungs, pancreas, and intestines.
This disease disrupts the body s salt balance leaving too little salt and water on the outside of cells
which makes the thin mucus that protects the linings of the airways, digestive system, reproductive
system, and other organs and tissues free of germs become thick and sticky thus clogging the airways
and damaging the lungs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When someone has Cystic fibrosis this gene is broken and doesn t function normally.
Treatment:
Cystic fibrosis can not be cured, it is chronic, but treatments could be helpful to ease the symptoms.
There are techniques to help you get rid of the thick mucus, for example, the airway clearance
technique, there is a common method called postural drainage and percussion. Which where you will

investment information is that to gain a full picture requires financial literacy, an accountant, and an

that if you take your time and invest the time to learn the ins and outs of what goes on behind the

Essay Shakespeare s Sonnet 18
During the Renaissance period, most poets were writing love poems about their lovers/mistresses. The
poets of this time often compared love to high, unrealistic, and unattainable beauty. Shakespeare, in
his sonnet 18, continues the tradition of his time by comparing the speakers love/mistress to the
summer time of the year. It is during this time of the year that the flowers and the nature that surround
them are at there peak for beauty. The theme of the poem is to show the speakers true interpretation of
beauty. Beauties worst enemy is time and although beauty might fade it can still live on through a
person s memory or words of a poem. The speaker realizes that beauty, like the subject of the poem,
will remain perfect not in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shakespeare uses two powerful metaphors in line five and in line six to compare the summer s
imperfections to the perfection of the beloved. In line five he uses a metaphor Sometime too hot the
eye of heaven shines to describe that in the summer the sun gets to hot and this is yet another
imperfection of a summer day which the beloved is superior to. Although some may compare there
beloveds eyes with the glow or beauty of the eye of heaven here the speaker has chosen to claim the
opposite saying that the sun is inferior to his beloved in that her eyes are more beautiful. In line six of
the poem the idea of the sun being imperfect is further enhanced by phrase gold complexion dimmed
this is implying that the sun is imperfect in that it is not always hot enough. Here the speaker implies
that the beloved is flawless in that her complexion is never changed, remaining gold like. Nature that
surrounds us is beautiful, the trees, ocean, and the wild life, and although the speaker makes a point to
disfigure the view of nature the intention of the poet is to reinforce the beauty of the beloved. In line
nine thy eternal summer shall not fade is an allusion to the beloved staying young and beautiful for
eternity. This line is referring to the season changing from summer to winter, this means that the
beauty is temporary and fades over a short period of time. The beloved on the other hand is

Joyner Lucas I M Sorry Meaning
Rough Draft Essay #4 The song I chose was I m Sorry by the artist Joyner Lucas. This song has a
pretty deep meaning to me. It s about a man who commits suicide. Last year around Christmas time I
met this guy. He was a friend of a close family member of mine. He was always hanging around them
so naturally we started talking. I m the type of person who cares about people a little too much. I
started noticing that he got more quiet and more to himself. I never thought he wanted to hurt himself.
I trusted him and he knew he could trust me too. Things at home weren t good. He was hurting. No
kid should ever go through that (he is my age). A couple weeks later things seemed like they were
getting better. He used music as his escape. Me and him would talk about different songs that we liked
and how they affected how we felt. Cheesy stuff like that. Then one night at around 11 p.m. ish he
sends me a link to the song I m Sorry. I listened to it. All I remember is so many things going through

Symbolism And Setting In The Lottery By Shirley Jackson
Symbolism and Setting in The Lottery by Shirley Jackson
?The Lottery? by Shirley Jackson is a short story that without the symbolism of its characters, would
amount to little more than an odd tale about a stoning. However, because of what each character
represents and the way the setting helps to magnify those representations, it becomes a short story that
is anything but short of meaning.
The first character is probably the most obviously symbolic character of the story. Every word that
leaves Old Man Warner?s
Mouth reeks of tradition. He never stops criticizing new ideas about the lottery, the way it is run, or
complaining about how things have changed for the worst, etc., etc. When Mr. Adams tells him that

While neither Mr. Graves nor Mr. Summers are tyrannical, awe inspiring, or otherwise persuasive
leaders, the townspeople follow them. It is very probable that if the two of them proclaimed there
would no longer be a lottery it would stop but they insist with the tradition. Unfortunately as is the
case so often in reality, people follow them blindly, they are leaders in the community, they must know
what they are doing right? When people fail to question their leadership, in reality, just as in ?The
Lottery,? terrible things happen.
The other characters symbolize more the faults of individual humans rather than those of whole
societies. The Hutchinson Family is both symbolic of internal faults that all humans have, such as
cowardice and indifference.
Bill Hutchinson is apparently so scared of saying no to authority that he will not take the necessary
steps to protect his family. As a matter of fact he aids them in the death of his wife by forcing her to
show the black spot.
When a man is willing not just to stand by and watch as his wife is stoned to death but actually force
her into it, there is something truly wrong. However in a sense the entire town is filled with cowards.
One might say, they seemed brave, all willing to go to the lottery and risk their lives for this ritual. In
reality though they are cowards for not standing up and saying, ?This year my family will not be

The Issue Of Gun Rights
Gun Rights Even though congressional gun related legislation remains stalemated, there is still a
continued argument over whether laws should be enacted to restrict guns or not enacted to allow gun
rights. Not allowing law abiding citizens, who support the constitution, to exercise their rights to
obtain and own firearms is unjust. Not only does this lead to making all gun owners criminals, it also
makes them easy targets. Citizens who pass background checks should be allowed to obtain and
possess firearms and be able to have concealed carry. Congress should not enact gun control laws
because American s have the right to protect themselves against criminals who usually find ways
around gun restrictions. Rather than hastily passing gun control laws, Congress should pass laws and
focus on issues like awareness and treatment of mental illnesses. Citizens of the United States have the
Constitutional right to bear arms. The Second Amendment of the Constitution reads: A well regulated
Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms,
shall not be infringed. Not to mention that the military fights and dies for rights given to us via the
Constitution. All these brave men and women that are trained in firearms, that signed up to serve in
the military, they re largely disarmed especially on our military bases, We need to look at letting the
men and women that know firearms and are trained in them do what they do best, which is

He does not feel anxious in crowded places as long as he is ignored by the people around him. Those
panic attacks also would not occur if he is around familiar people such as close family members or if
he feels confident about himself before a presentation. Sometimes, he is able to control those feelings
and continue with whatever task at hand. Most of the time, however, he will simply try to avoid
situations in which he thinks will trigger those panic attacks.
Early last year in 2010, due to his frustration in trying to overcome those panic attacks, he fell into
depression. At the same time, he said that he was also having problem at work with one of his
colleagues who seemed to be jealous of him and tried to damage his reputation. She would often try to
monitor his whereabouts and make it known to his superior whenever he was absent from his office.
To add to the stress at work, his wife was also constantly nagging him at home.
All these factors caused a lot of stress for him and contributed to his depression. He began to feel like
life was not worth the struggle anymore. He had tried reading all sorts of self help books to motivate
himself and provide relief but none really helped. He began to feel worthless and hopeless for not

THE ROAD PAST ALTAMONT
Book Analysis
Theme: Evolution of mother and daughter relationship
A book The Road Past Altamont by Gabrielle Roy was first published in French in the year 1966
(Dillman, 115). The subject of the book penetrates to the heart of a Child s in depth world, forming a
subtle, yet considerable linkage of impressions, feelings, and relationships. The nous style of the
writer Roy, whose literature imitates her infantile on the Canadian steppe, has often been compared
with others. The book entails the four significant stories which are related to the young girl named
Christine, from the period for her innocence to maturity. According to the understanding of this book,
the purpose of this piece of literature is to make others understand the importance and power of the
development of the relationship between a mother and a daughter. Moreover, in her writing, Gabrielle
Roy allowed nothing peripheral or false to stand, according to many. The four allied stories divulge
reflective moments during her early years in the massiveness of Manitoba. However, all the mentioned
characters and events express writer s obsession with childhood till the old age, the passage of the
time as well as the mystery of change, and the artist s relation to the world.
After the reading of this book The Road Past Altamont , there are many various themes which can be
related to it. A relevant and related theme of the book can be the evolution

The Effects Of Ddt On The Environment
The purpose of the project is to determine whether or not a rise in Dichlorodiphenyldichloroethylene
(DDE) concentrations over time will correlate to a decrease in Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane
(DDT) concentrations. The motivation for the project was to see if the use of DDT and DDE has any
negative affects on the environment, and if so how bad is the affects? This topic was chosen because
DDT use was a major environmental issue and is still considered a problem today. It s important to
recognize the long lasting affects that pesticides have on an ecosystem.
The pesticide DDT was first utilized in 1939 when a Swiss chemist, Paul Hermann Muller revealed
the effectiveness of the 1st modern synthetic insecticide. In 1945, farmers gained access to DDT to use
as an agricultural insecticide; it was also widely used in homes and institutions for insect control.
Years later in 1969, DDTs safety concern grew. Following an investigation conducted by John F.
Kennedy s team of scientists, it was recommended that persistent toxic pesticides , including DDT,
become phased out. In 1971, the U.S. District Court of Appeals ordered the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA), to ban DDT; in 1972 3 DDT the ban became effective.
As of today, even though DDT has been banned for 20+ years, DDT/DDE can still be found in the
environment. DDT/DDE residue is a major problem, especially because DDT/DDE have the same
toxicity but DDE is more harmful to the environment because organisms have

News Commentary On Crime And The Media
Lastly, the dramatization by news programs today produces a glamorization of crime. News stories on
crimes are extremely popular due to the fact that audiences remember bad news much easier than
good news. Take history for example, much of history is filled with recounts of gruesome murders,
wars, and scandals. An estimated 71 million viewers across the country tune in to their local news
station s broadcast (Yanich, 2004, p. 537). It can easily be assumed then that an estimated 71 million
people will know the basic details of a crime that their news station is broadcasting. Crimes and their
corresponding cases are exceedingly well known by viewers at the time when they are broadcasted;
people know the names of the suspects, victims, and the main details of the crime itself. As posited in
Yanich s article (2004) on crime and the media, The media s treatment of and its relationship to crime
and justice policy has received much attention. (p. 535). With all of this attention on crimes in the
news it is not surprising that in many instances alleged or even convicted criminals are seen as
celebrities. These criminals receive ample airtime, and in many situations crimes and criminals that
are highly broadcasted in the news are often later turned into big blockbuster movies. Movies such as
Psycho, Bonnie and Clyde, and Zodiac are all based upon real life criminals and crimes. Some serial
killers even have secret admirers that are obsessed with them. These admirers send these

An Analysis of the Pharmaceutical Industry using Porter s...
In 1897, Felix Hoffmann created a new industry. He found a way of adding a cluster of two extra
carbon and five extra hydrogen atoms to a substance extracted from willow bark. The result is known

maker Hoffmann worked for, into the world s first modern drug company. Geoffrey Carr, The
Alchemists, The Economist Feb 19th 1998
Today s Pharmaceutical Industry is characterized by several important factors that influence the
business environment in which each company operates:

Providers wishing to increase market share must take it away from someone else. Switching costs are
relatively low. Customers will shop around based on price, even in small communities. Admittedly,
customer loyalty tends to be higher in smaller communities but this loyalty is shrinking as another
factor, mergers and acquisitions, increase. There is little relevant difference in products and the
diversity among competitors is low.
BARRIERS TO ENTRY
Prescription: High, a company cannot manufacture a drug that has a patent on it. It must wait till after
the patent expires to manufacture it.
Generic: Low, once the patent is expired, everyone will want to manufacture the drug (especially if it
was a big money maker for the inventing company).
Over the counter: Medium, depending on the new entrant s resources. Store brands will always be
available. However, for small companies a name brand is a huge marketing expense. This will make it
a barrier for them to enter this market.
There are many barriers that can be created to prevent new entrants or to slow down their arrival.
In the pharmaceutical industry, a new entrant may be faced with various hurdles erected by established
businesses, such as:
·economies of scale manufacturing, R D, marketing, sales,
·distribution product differentiation established products, brands and relationships

The Problem Of Mental Health Specialists
Today, there are two main models attempting to deal with addiction problem. These two (Disease and
harm reduction) models generally differentiate in terms of the explanation of the problem,
treatment/intervention, goals, moral approach, etc. However, both models seem to have pros and cons
that mental health specialists should consider that.
Firstly, according to disease model, addiction must be described as a disease in order to struggle with
the negative consequences of addiction as a public health problem (Gorski, 2011). In this way, people
with addiction problem can have an access to medical treatment and they could be treated by
appropriate care. It is already known that many of drugs can cause biological changing from mild to
severe, and as Gorski s claim, addiction s clinical picture meets the disease requirements. Therefore,
appropriate medical treatment could be necessary for the people with addiction. Moreover, by doing
that, this medical treatment cost could be covered by insurance companies and that provides financial
benefit for the client.
On the other hand, addressing this issue as a disease may have some drawbacks such as,
stigmatization. Since, diagnose is a type of label leading to stigmatization problem in the society.
Furthermore, especially, stigma can have a negative impact on the client s upcoming treatment and
may aggravate the situation. In fact, addiction is not only biological problem, but also sociological,
psychological, spiritual and even

Romanian Culture Interview Essay
Though I was born in Detroit and am a first generation American, I have always identified more with
my Romanian heritage. My parents escaped from communist Romania and found a community of
other Romanians also seeking solace here in Michigan. We connected with each other through
churches spread throughout southeast Michigan. And so, I would be able to spend time with my
extended family and a multitude of other Romanians at least once every week. There is a saying here:
It takes a village to raise a child, and that could not be more true of the Romanian family that raised

In Romanian culture, it is incredibly important to respect your elders as well as each other. I deduced
that the purpose behind this cultural phenomenon was to learn from others. By respecting my
Romanian elders, I opened up the avenue to understand and apply their wisdom. For example, I owe
them my strong work ethic. Due to the fact that many Romanians lost everything when they came
overseas, I was raised to never take anything for granted. This included my own intelligence. As an
example, during my academic studies I made sure that I was not over confident of my abilities and
prepared to do extra work in order to insure my success. In fact, I came up with a saying to motivate
myself: Work hard enough so that it s impossible to fail. Each time I struggled in a class, certain that I
would receive my first B, I would apply this work ethic in order to deal with the stress. Thus, I feel
that I would be of great use to the medical community as I am no stranger to arduous work. My

The Securitization Market and the Credit Crisis
Securitization
Traditionally banks funded their loans from deposits. But the us government found that they could not
keep pace with the demand for residential mortgages with this type of funding. Portfolios of
mortgages were created and cash flows (principal amount and interest payments) were packaged as
securities and sold to investors. Securitization allowed the banks to increase their lending faster than
their deposits were growing. The US government created Government National Mortgage Association
which protected the mortgage backed securities investors against defaults by borrowers. As the
securitization market developed investors became comfortable with the situations where there was no
guarantee against defaults by borrowers.
Asset backed securities (ABS)
It is a portfolio of income producing assets such as loans, lease or receivables and the cash flows from
these assets are then allocated to the tranches which is further divided i.e. the senior tranche, the
mezzanine tranche and the equity tranche. The senior tranche is for those investors who want to play
safe because they have first priority on the collateral in the event of default and that is why they are
highly rated, the mezzanine tranche contains moderate risk and the equity tranche is very risky.
Collateralized Debt Obligations (CDO)
It is so called because the pooled assets like mortgages, loans and bonds are essentially debt
obligations that serve as collateral in the event of default.

Is Paul Appealing Or Appalling Book Summary
Paul was a Jew, born in Tarsus, but brought up in Jerusalem at the feet of Gamaliel, educated strictly
according to our ancestral law...at least that is how Luke puts it in Acts of the Apostles, where he
documented the actions of the followers of Jesus. This book of the New Testament serves as a
summarized history of the first Christians. Regardless of Paul s former life as a Jew, so successful at
spreading Christianity that the idea that he is a co founder of Christianity, second only to Jesus, is an
extremely popular one. It could not have been an accident that he was able to accomplish so much.
Paul s conversion to Christianity is well documented but, aside from a few important details about his

The Jewish community rejected the lax attitude concerning Mosaic Law. The Galatians, who were
brought up in an area of the world dominated by a polytheistic, law based religion, sought comfort in
the more disciplined Jewish approach. Paul: Appealing or Appalling? is the surprising title of the first
chapter in a book about the differing opinions, written by Christian scholars, Marcus J. Borg and John
Dominic Crossan. Their account of Paul s controversial stance on a variety of major issues like gender
roles and slavery helps to understand the historical significance of Paul s evangelism. Jews were easier
to reach than Gentiles, because of their sacred education, therefore the issue of circumcision was
definitely an issue among the first converts to Christianity. The question on everyone s mind was, Do
you have to be a Jew to be a Christian? Judeans were taught that salvation would only come to those
circumcised according to the custom. Once in Jerusalem, Paul went to the elders to announce God s
grace in the lives of the Gentiles. They rejoiced in his message, but took notice of his advice against
Jewish law,

The history of fabric and textiles
Textile development during the Industrial Revolution (1780 1850)
In 1968, Eric Hobsbawm said: Whoever says Industrial Revolution says cotton. Among many
historians the Industrial Revolution is considered as the process in which technological changes led by
the mechanized factories of the cotton industry created large profits for innovators that continued in
succeeding decades. It was the key event in the emergence of modern economic growth, which led to
shifting manufacturing from people s houses and shops to factories. It was a time of vivid change,
from hand tools and handmade items, to the products which were produced by machines.
Nevertheless, life improved, the industrial revolution had some harmful consequences, such as
increased pollution, harmful working conditions, employment of women and children, who were made
to work long and hard hours, etc.
The shift to factories in the United States grew out of a process that began in the British textile
industry. British inventors developed machines to do tasks that have been done by hand. Sometimes
the machines replaced other, older and weaker machines. For example the spinning jenny, which was
run by water power, replaced the spinning wheel; the power loom replaced the hand loom. These
machines were small enough to be placed in the cottages. But later, people invented bigger and more
powerful machines, which needed a huge space to be positioned. This was the reason why people
started to

What are the functions of norms in groups? Using examples of your small group interactions in your

How did you adapt to these norms?
Group norms identify the personality of the group and how they relate to each other, in addition it
shows every member position on the group leadership. Group norms vary based on the group and
issues important to the group. Without group norms, individuals would have no understanding of how
to act in different group situations. In my work group everyone has a different function, every task is

  • 2. My Favorites Of Monisha As A Show On Indian Television This was hands down one of the best sitcoms that ever aired on Indian Television. We loved each and every character from this series. My personal favorite of all was Maya S. The character was so classy, sophisticated and oh so perfect! She would never leave a chance to mock Monisha with her sarcastic comments. And we know that those middle class comments were often intended as a joke. We as a population from that middle class category never felt that the comments were derogatory in any sense. Like Manisha, I mean Monisha had a sarcastic mother in law, we too similarly have either a sarcastic parent, sibling, friend, relatives or colleague. So what you can do in this situation is ask people around you to acknowledge their special talent and give a standing ovation, and if no one gets up to clap, then you could tell that smarty pants that they need to work hard on their talent in order to get recognized. 5)Lastly, if someone criticizes you on your clothes or something that you are regular with, for instance, you probably have seen K3G, where Kareena is seen poking fun at her fellow college mate s top wear and walks off saying tumhe kaafi suit karta hai. Well, if you too face a similar situation, what you can do is express your admiration for their keen observational skills. Ask them how they do it everyday without fail? A Brief Review Of Major Collins Running Out Of Music Constance Squire s Running Out Of Music portrays Major Collins as a minor character, but in reality his misunderstanding of music and the importance of it plays in Lucinda s development of identity plays an integral role in the short story through the theme of the unknown importance of music. Constance Squires uses Major Collins wrongful judging judging of the band Sex Pistols name to show his stubbornness in accepting the importance of music. At this point in the story, Lucinda and her father have just entered the army camp dormitory and are going to see Natley. Major Collins introduces Natley and Lucinda and waits outside. At this point Nately has already died and his room is being cleared out. While this is happening, Major Collins thinks it would be a good idea to give Nately s music to Lucinda. Major Collins told Lucinda, That reminds me sweetie, I keep forgetting to tell you. Yeah. When I heard he died, I went over and got these for you. He pointed to behind where Lucinda is standing. In the far corner of the room, under the windows, sat Nately s crates of records, lined up against the wall. I didn t try for the turntable it looked like an expensive piece of equipment, so I thought his folks might want it. But these would have probably just been thrown away, or all the other GIs would have divided them up. I thought you should have them . (18 19). Nately s crates are In the far corner of the room , which symbolizes how unconnected Collins is with music. Also, Major Collins focuses on the price of Nately s items, as he describes the turntable as an expensive piece of equipment . While on the other hand, Nately s music in Major Collins eye, is perceived as junk. The music is seen as to Major Collins junk because Collins believes there is no monetary value so he assumes that, these probably would have been just thrown away . • 4. Main Goals of The Progressive Movement Essay In the late nineteenth century to early twentieth century the Progressive Era was moving to reshape America. Progressivism was a political movement that encouraged the exposure of corruption in America in order to reshape it for the better. This time period became known for the social and political changes that took place as a result of the progressives. Progressivism ruled the country, changing the way Americans lived and the way politics affected them. One of the main goals of the progressive movement was to use democracy to regulate the government by exposing the corruption of government officials. He was most known for his book The Jungle, which became a worldwide bestseller and dramatically changed food regulation during the Progressive Era. Many people saw the results of this book as good, but they did not see the corruption it caused. Upton Sinclair s The Jungle changed food regulation in America forever, but the effects that came about because of The Jungle were more detrimental than beneficial. Upton Beall Sinclair grew up in a poor family, always moving around from city to city with his father s job as a salesman. His mother, Priscilla Sinclair, had rich relatives on her side of the family whom Upton would visit with some regularity. As he grew up this allowed him to see how the rich and the poor lived, giving him an insight that shaped his career as a writer and journalist. He did not have a good relationship with either his mother or father, causing him to become independent at a young age. When he was just fourteen his family moved to New York city and he started writing to pay for his tuition at the City College of New York. He went on to graduate from Columbia University, paying his way with stories he wrote. His early career consisted of small novels and journal articles that never became well known. Upton Sinclair often wrote for the socialist journal Appeal to Reason, showing his socialist ideals. Growing up in poverty and visiting wealth caused him to have these socialist views. • 5. The World Of Modern Architecture Essay Z Marcel The TIME magazine in 1956 defined Breuer as one of those great designers and architects that have moulded the 20th century . As a designer, with his tubular steel furniture, he has written the history of design: his Wassily chair, in fact, has became an icon of modern living. As an architect he has been one of the most innovative and interesting ones of his time, but, unfortunately, this role has not been so often recognized in him by the historians. M. Breuer belongs to a generation to which time and fame have not been so generous with. W. Gropius, Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier, in fact, when Breuer was in his twenties, had already began to give their contribute to the birth of a new era in architecture: the Modern Movement. Only in the latest years the critics have started to give to his figure the role that truly belongs to him: the role of one of the major protagonists of modern architecture. M. Breuer was not only one of the most prolific architects of his time but also one of the most innovative and interesting ones. He possessed an excellent sense related to proportions, forms and materials. To be able to comprehend his art, we need to take time, to spend time in front of his regular, sculptural forms. That s probably what truly and deeply attracts of Breuer s architecture: the extra ordinary vigour. M. Breuer art doesn t know frailty or weakness. It s exactly like its creator. It precisely shows the temperament of his author: a strong. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Indian Camp Analysis Kian Cato September 17, 2017 From fishing trip to the birth of a baby to an unexplained suicide, Nick has had a very interesting day. Indian Camp is centered around the main character Nick who is a young boy and his father is a doctor. From the short story Indian Camp , by Ernest Hemingway, Nick experiences his first time seeing several things happening as graphic as child birth with C section and suicide, things he had never seen before and had no idea that he was about to experience that in his life. From the reading, the young Indian seems reluctant to look at the episode head on however he was a good help to his dad. I also observed that Nick is not a tough person, that he is sensitive, passionate and caring. Oh, daddy can t you give her something to make her stop screaming? I think that Nick might have been too young to be experiencing such a grownup episode as childbirth and under the circumstance as a C section and mortality. I also think that his father may have pushed this experience on him a little too soon. As it turns out Nick still too young to really process the idea of mortality and Nick s father had to explain to him a whole lot more than he expected to do. He was looking away so as not to see what his father was doing. Nick did not watch. His curiosity had been gone for a long time. Regret is defined as a feeling of sadness, repentance, or disappointment over something that has happened or been done. Not having any regrets is something a lot of people pride themselves on. But is regret really that bad? You probably think I m crazy for saying that, but the fact is, not being able to feel regret is a characteristic of a sociopath. I tried to convince myself I was dreaming, because there is absolutely NO WAY I just got kicked out of my best friend s bat mitzvah in front of about 300 people. The next thing I felt was just flat out bewilderment. Like Oh my god I cannot believe that just happened. How did that even happen. What am I gonna do? • 9. What Is The Theme Of Killing Lizards Killing lizards All children search for attention, love and acceptance through their childhood. If a child doesn t receive attention, love and acceptance, in which way can they find the trust to be themselves? They will be stuck in an uncertain world, where they have no trust in themselves and difficult to evolve their identity. In the short story, killing lizards, the main charachter is the 12 year old English boy, Gavin. Gavin s family moved to Africa to years before the story takes place. Gavin seems to be like any other common boy, but the reality is something else. Gavin misses attention from his mother, and wishes that she could pay more attention to him. He is especially jealous of his sister Amanda because he believes that she grabs all the attention from their mother. That is very clear in this quote. These fantasies are obviously because of a strong Oedipus complex between the child and his mother, which is evidently seen in the way he wants people to think of them in his fantasy. (Page 2, lines 31 34: People would look at them in the street and whisper, I don t know what she would have done without him and Yes, he s been wonderful and They re so close now .) • 10. Capitalism And Capitalism Capitalism, as Speth explains, is an economic system that is geared toward accumulation of profit, its tendency to change and expand. Root explains that the developed world has necessary tools to guard themselves against uncertainty and risk. They also can count on social institutions and welfare programs to manage risks. Engaging business activities, developed world is dealing with risk by developing products and marketing, for instance. Developing and marketing new products require capital, and capitalism by nature is geared toward capital accumulation, to make profits. Whereas, as Root points out, the developing nations don t have enough capital to improve their lives and climb out of poverty. The idea is that a poor nation not being able to invest, the economy does not grow, so they remain poor. According to Root, the wealth gap between the rich and poor nations has widened tremendously. However, it is necessary to also explore other contributing factors for the economy of the developing nations not being able to grow. However, Root explains that uncertainty and risk are the factors how developed countries have grown rich by turning uncertainty into risk. Of course, the presence of institutions are needed to make the risk management possible. For example, institutions might discourage people to acquire education to learn new skills to engage business activities to accumulate capital (p. 4). Throughout history the idea of removing the Confederate Monuments is the popular choice among decision makers, citing that the monuments have a sense of evilness consequently flaring up racial emotions. Strong points are continuously being made for the removal of Confederate Monuments, however the Confederate monuments should remain in public places because they honor timeless virtues, the monuments would provide an opportunity to reflect upon our nation s past as well as an opportunity to educate future generations. Confederate Monuments began to erect across the nation well after the civil war between the 1890 s and 1950 s. There seems to be a correlation of when these monuments began to pop up and the era of the Jim Crow Segregation. The highest spike of monuments being built were between the 1900 s and 1920 s. These monuments were meant to be a teaching point of values to people rather than being a symbol of hate as many people took them to be. According to Mark Elliot, professor at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro; The values to which these monuments stood for included a glorification of the cause of the civil war. Given this shorter time to market, they may jump on this opportunity to deliver Pentium clones any time. Our strategy to stop competitors copying our new products was heavy patent protection for the Pentium brand, however if our brand image is continually damaged to such extent, that protection would not give us the competitive advantage we expected. The poets of this time often compared love to high, unrealistic, and unattainable beauty. Shakespeare, in his sonnet 18, continues the tradition of his time by comparing the speakers love/mistress to the summer time of the year. It is during this time of the year that the flowers and the nature that surround them are at there peak for beauty. The theme of the poem is to show the speakers true interpretation of beauty. Shakespeare uses two powerful metaphors in line five and in line six to compare the summer s imperfections to the perfection of the beloved. In line five he uses a metaphor Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines to describe that in the summer the sun gets to hot and this is yet another imperfection of a summer day which the beloved is superior to. Although some may compare there beloveds eyes with the glow or beauty of the eye of heaven here the speaker has chosen to claim the opposite saying that the sun is inferior to his beloved in that her eyes are more beautiful. In line six of the poem the idea of the sun being imperfect is further enhanced by phrase gold complexion dimmed this is implying that the sun is imperfect in that it is not always hot enough. Here the speaker implies that the beloved is flawless in that her complexion is never changed, remaining gold like. Nature that surrounds us is beautiful, the trees, ocean, and the wild life, and although the speaker makes a point to disfigure the view of nature the intention of the poet is to reinforce the beauty of the beloved. In line nine thy eternal summer shall not fade is an allusion to the beloved staying young and beautiful for eternity. This line is referring to the season changing from summer to winter, this means that the beauty is temporary and fades over a short period of time. The beloved on the other hand is ... Not allowing law abiding citizens, who support the constitution, to exercise their rights to obtain and own firearms is unjust. Not only does this lead to making all gun owners criminals, it also makes them easy targets. Citizens who pass background checks should be allowed to obtain and possess firearms and be able to have concealed carry. Congress should not enact gun control laws because American s have the right to protect themselves against criminals who usually find ways around gun restrictions. The Effects Of Ddt On The Environment The purpose of the project is to determine whether or not a rise in Dichlorodiphenyldichloroethylene (DDE) concentrations over time will correlate to a decrease in Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) concentrations. The motivation for the project was to see if the use of DDT and DDE has any negative affects on the environment, and if so how bad is the affects? This topic was chosen because DDT use was a major environmental issue and is still considered a problem today. It s important to recognize the long lasting affects that pesticides have on an ecosystem. The pesticide DDT was first utilized in 1939 when a Swiss chemist, Paul Hermann Muller revealed the effectiveness of the 1st modern synthetic insecticide. In 1945, farmers gained access to DDT to use as an agricultural insecticide; it was also widely used in homes and institutions for insect control. Years later in 1969, DDTs safety concern grew. These two (Disease and harm reduction) models generally differentiate in terms of the explanation of the problem, treatment/intervention, goals, moral approach, etc. However, both models seem to have pros and cons that mental health specialists should consider that. Firstly, according to disease model, addiction must be described as a disease in order to struggle with the negative consequences of addiction as a public health problem (Gorski, 2011). In this way, people with addiction problem can have an access to medical treatment and they could be treated by appropriate care. It is already known that many of drugs can cause biological changing from mild to severe, and as Gorski s claim, addiction s clinical picture meets the disease requirements. Therefore, appropriate medical treatment could be necessary for the people with addiction. Moreover, by doing that, this medical treatment cost could be covered by insurance companies and that provides financial benefit for the client. On the other hand, addressing this issue as a disease may have some drawbacks such as, stigmatization. Since, diagnose is a type of label leading to stigmatization problem in the society. My parents escaped from communist Romania and found a community of other Romanians also seeking solace here in Michigan. We connected with each other through churches spread throughout southeast Michigan. And so, I would be able to spend time with my extended family and a multitude of other Romanians at least once every week. There is a saying here: It takes a village to raise a child, and that could not be more true of the Romanian family that raised me. They had imbued me with the harsh life lessons learned from living underneath a dictatorship and the struggle of starting life from scratch after escaping from said dictatorship. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Romanian culture, it is incredibly important to respect your elders as well as each other. I deduced that the purpose behind this cultural phenomenon was to learn from others. By respecting my Romanian elders, I opened up the avenue to understand and apply their wisdom. For example, I owe them my strong work ethic. Due to the fact that many Romanians lost everything when they came overseas, I was raised to never take anything for granted. This included my own intelligence. As an example, during my academic studies I made sure that I was not over confident of my abilities and prepared to do extra work in order to insure my success. In fact, I came up with a saying to motivate myself: Work hard enough so that it s impossible to fail. Each time I struggled in a class, certain that I would receive my first B, I would apply this work ethic in order to deal with the stress. Thus, I feel that I would be of great use to the medical community as I am no stranger to arduous work. My teammates in this endeavor would no doubt welcome my drive to push beyond what is necessary in order to complete a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But the us government found that they could not keep pace with the demand for residential mortgages with this type of funding. Portfolios of mortgages were created and cash flows (principal amount and interest payments) were packaged as securities and sold to investors. Securitization allowed the banks to increase their lending faster than their deposits were growing. The US government created Government National Mortgage Association which protected the mortgage backed securities investors against defaults by borrowers. As the securitization market developed investors became comfortable with the situations where there was no guarantee against defaults by borrowers. The senior tranche is for those investors who want to play safe because they have first priority on the collateral in the event of default and that is why they are highly rated, the mezzanine tranche contains moderate risk and the equity tranche is very risky. Collateralized Debt Obligations (CDO) It is so called because the pooled assets like mortgages, loans and bonds are essentially debt obligations that serve as collateral in the event of default. This book of the New Testament serves as a summarized history of the first Christians. The Jewish community rejected the lax attitude concerning Mosaic Law. The Galatians, who were brought up in an area of the world dominated by a polytheistic, law based religion, sought comfort in the more disciplined Jewish approach. Paul: Appealing or Appalling? is the surprising title of the first chapter in a book about the differing opinions, written by Christian scholars, Marcus J. Borg and John Dominic Crossan. Their account of Paul s controversial stance on a variety of major issues like gender roles and slavery helps to understand the historical significance of Paul s evangelism. Jews were easier to reach than Gentiles, because of their sacred education, therefore the issue of circumcision was definitely an issue among the first converts to Christianity. The question on everyone s mind was, Do you have to be a Jew to be a Christian? Judeans were taught that salvation would only come to those circumcised according to the custom. Once in Jerusalem, Paul went to the elders to announce God s grace in the lives of the Gentiles. They rejoiced in his message, but took notice of his advice against Jewish law, ... • 40. History Of Fabric And Textiles Textile Development During... The history of fabric and textiles Textile development during the Industrial Revolution (1780 1850) In 1968, Eric Hobsbawm said: Whoever says Industrial Revolution says cotton. Among many historians the Industrial Revolution is considered as the process in which technological changes led by the mechanized factories of the cotton industry created large profits for innovators that continued in succeeding decades. It was the key event in the emergence of modern economic growth, which led to shifting manufacturing from people s houses and shops to factories. It was a time of vivid change, from hand tools and handmade items, to the products which were produced by machines. Nevertheless, life improved, the industrial revolution had some harmful consequences, such as increased pollution, harmful working conditions, employment of women and children, who were made to work long and hard hours, etc. The shift to factories in the United States grew out of a process that began in the British textile industry. British inventors developed machines to do tasks that have been done by hand. Sometimes the machines replaced other, older and weaker machines. For example the spinning jenny, which was run by water power, replaced the spinning wheel; the power loom replaced the hand loom. These machines were small enough to be placed in the cottages. But later, people invented bigger and more powerful machines, which needed a huge space to be positioned. This was the reason why people started to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
