Benefits And Benefits Of Employee Satisfaction
Benefits play a major role towards employee satisfaction and how they behave in an organization.
Employee satisfaction is necessary for the success of any organization. Keeping employee satisfaction
should be a priority for every employer. There are many reasons why an employee can become
discouraged with their jobs. Some include: lack of communication within the organization, high stress
levels, lack of recognition, or limit opportunity for growth.
Health insurance is one benefit in the foundation of a comprehensive employee benefit package.
Health insurance is an insurance policy that will pay to cover medical treatments or expenses. This
also includes dental and vision insurance. According to healthinsurance.org, of the Americans who ...

The number of sick days can be based on the years with the organization and how high they stand with
the organization. Paid personal days are time taken off from work that the organization provides
employees. The number of days is the same as sick days which was your standing level with
organization and how long they have been with them. These days can be used for voting, conferences,
and even going to a healthcare professional. The paid personal days are paid at the employee s normal
base salary. Bereavement time is even under PTO. It is granted for attending funerals and burials,
making funeral arrangements, dealing with possessions and wills of the deceased, and for paying
respect to a family at visitation. You are usually given three days of this time for an immediate family
member and one day for other relatives or friends. Organizations can give additional unpaid days if
necessary. Immediate family members include: spouse, parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren,
and siblings.
Another benefit offered among organizations is the 401k retirement plan. It is a plan for employees to
accumulate retirement income and is the most flexible type of retirement plan. It shows that the
employers care about and value your employees with a means for them to plan their future and
encourages employees to save for retirement. It has tax advantages for both employers and employees
including tax deferred growth for the employee and tax deductible advantages for the

The Advancements Of India Over Time
India over time has been one of the most balanced governments in history. There has been very few
big conflicts with other countries and their own government. I am researching the advancements of the
indian world from when it started all the way up into modern day history. Also, knowing the likeliness
that they have changed a lot over multiple centuries I will search for primary sources that I think will
best describe the changes that have taken place over the years. Towards the start of the 16th Century in
the year 1504 Babur captured Kabul to take their first control of the Mughal Empire (History World).
The official launching of the Mughal Empire was in 1526 nearing the completion of the Battle at
Panipat where the Babur once again took down the Sultan of Delhi to become the first major lead
group of the new empire. Throughout time the Babur kept fighting to maintain control of the Mughal.
This plan from the opponents of Babur did not expect to be knocked out of the running for the empire
and all of the fighting led to advancements of taking over more of what is now modern day India
(History World). As time went on multiple landowners who were also wealthy started building places
for them to live in. Such as palaces, houses, and also multiple pieces of land that they would buy to
continue to upgrade the city or empire to make it even more valuable to live in and would make it
more likely to have more battles for possession of the land. The painting shown below I see

The Importance Of A Common National Language
Common national language has consistently been a fundamental driving force to uphold national
bonding all over the globe. This can be recognized by historical examples ranging from those found in
Western countries to Asian countries, such as how French was adopted as a means to reunify France as
a whole country after the French Revolution and how Korea has made use of a common Korean
language to unite the Three Kingdoms and to secure statehood. In this context, common national
language refers to a language, both written and spoken that has connections, de facto or de jure with
users and the territory they occupy and exists originally but is then forged to be the first language to
shape a politically desired national identity. To strengthen the national solidarity, it has sometimes
been proposed that a typical national language is indispensable for accelerating the formation of an
appropriate national identity. This essay will argue that common national language is the key to
sustain nationhood because users can gain a greater sense of belongings and togetherness towards the
nation. This will be asserted by demonstrating how a particular concept can be stressed with a
language while speaking and by showing how a common national language could reduce the
communication gap between nationals with different mother tongues.
A key argument for adopting a universal national language is that speakers of a language can incline to
certain types of information while speaking (Mooney

Essay On Bill Gates
Finding people who are both inspiring and empathetic to the needs of other can be very hard to find.
When I think about this person I have always thought about the power of kindness and generosity that
the human mind can have. This is the reason why this person and his wife are one my favorite and
greatest leaders of this century. This individual has not only changed the world by ben affectionate for
mankind, especially as shown in his devotion of work or wealth to people around the world but has
also been a great innovator and leader in the world of technology.

But, his love for computer made him spend most of his time in the computer lab. Bill did not have a
study plan and for this reason crammed for test and passed with reasonable grade. Much to his parent s
disappointment, he dropped out of Harvard in two years in 1975 to pursue his business Microsoft with
his new found partner Paul Allen ( Bill Gates , 2017). When Gates was at Lakeside he met Paul Allen,
who then was two years his seniors. They became friend very fast, sharing their love computers, even
though they had different personalities. Allen was a reserved individual, while Bill was feisty and
sometime combative. I believe that this where qualities that aided him to weather through various

Construction Of A Local Public School
Last year, the city of Colchester, England decided to expand the building of a local public school due
to a growing population. The land on which the school is built holds an abundant amount of
archaeological information relevant to the history of Colchester. This data was only briefly reached in
1911 when amateur archaeologist, Henry Jones, was given permission to quickly excavate the site.
This came about after century old human remains were discovered during the construction of the
original school. From his excavations, Jones concluded that the remains of the three bodies discovered
were killed during the Boudiccan Rebellion in 60 61 CE. Due to the circumstances under which Jones
performed his excavations, he was not able to produce a stratigraphic section of the site. Jones also
failed to keep any written record of his excavations and the remaining artifacts and remains have since
been lost. With the expansion of the school in Colchester, it is my job to perform a thorough
excavation of the site before construction begins. Using the law of superposition, with a start and end
date of approximately 200 BCE 1 CE or 100 BCE ± 100, stratum 800 is the oldest stratum
represented. This date was formulated from the average of seven radiocarbon samples. Due to the lack
of cultural material present in the stratum, it can be surmised that this stratum was uninhabited.
The next oldest stratum using the law of superposition, is stratum 700, dates to 200 BCE 1 CE to 43

Little Red Riding Hood Decisions
How important are decisions? Well, decisions can effect the littlest of things, to the largest of things.
Such as in Little Red Riding Hood, and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Both girls make very forward
decisions, and they both learn valuable lessons. In the story Little Red Riding Hood, little red riding
hood makes a selection of choices that effect her future. In the beginning, she decides to deliver a
basket of treats to her grandmother. Then later on, after a woodsman s warning about a wolf, she
decided to press on through the woods to deliver the basket of goods. At the end of the story, the very
same wolf tried to eat her, she screamed for help, and then she was rescued by the woodsman. By the

Intrisic Motivation Increases Student Achievement
Brief Review of the Literature Studies have indicated that intrinsic motivation increases student
achievement. The success of integrating technology with increased student achievement could vary
based on students intrinsic motivational styles. ATLAS has identified viable motivational styles within
individual learning styles. Understanding different technologies and their effect on motivational styles
in ATLAS has not been studied, but studies validate the importance and the need for this study.

can be increased if technology is implemented correctly. Ehrlich, Sporte, and Sebring (2013) reported
the differences in technology use in districts in Chicago. The study found that 92 percent of students
have access to the internet and technology at home. However, the frequency of use varied depending
on the school that the students attended. Twenty to thirty percent of students used technology at school
never or rarely. An inequality of technology exists between schools and schools that use technology.
Schools that frequently use technology have higher achieving students. Enrich et al., (2010) stated,
Technology use is ubiquitous in America s colleges and most workplaces, and it is fast becoming
accepted as fact that all students elementary and high school must be exposed to technology (p. 1).
This research is important to the proposed study because it indicates that the use of technology is
inconsistent even when there is similar availability to technology. This research implies that
researchers need to determine better ways of implementing technology consistently. Learning Styles

Roman Temple Research Paper
This was the great temple on the Capitolium, one of the two peaks of the Capitoline Hill. It was
dedicated the Capitoline Triad, Jupiter, Juno and Minerva. Tarquinius Priscus vowed this temple, but
tradition states that a large part of the work was done by Tarquinius Superbus. With his overthrow in
509 B.C., the first consul of the new Republic dedicated it on September 13. Here on each January 1
the new consuls took office in a colorful ceremony. Each month on the Ides, a white sheep was
sacrificed to Jupiter. On the special Ides of September the temple s annual festival there was a great
banquet for the people of Rome in which the statues of the three gods participated. It was prone to

Analysis Of The New York Times Article By Gary Allan Fine
The past should never be altered. The New York Times article by Gary Allan Fine is about the
National Collegiate Athletic Association (N.C.A.A.) changing history by taking away the Penn State
football victories from 1998 2011. History was changed by making the losers of these football games
the winners. In George Orwell s 1984, the past is always being changed or corrected . Big Brother
alters the past so that he always appears right. The N.C.A.A. is not correct for vacating Penn State s
win and the novel 1984 relates to this because the past is always being changed. The N.C.A.A. took
away wins from the Penn State Football Team because of the coaches actions not the players actions,
so this is wrong. The New York Times article explains

Phone Addiction Essay
Phone Addiction for Teens and Their Parents In the article Half of Teens Think They re Addicted to
Their Smartphones by Kelly Wallace the general argument is that phones are addictive not just to
teens, but to everyone. Wallace starts the article by talking about how her children, 8 and 10 years old,
are spending more and more time on iPads while on spring break. Due to this early iPad addiction she
worries about her children for when they are older and have their own phones. It then goes to a few
different polls that state that everybody, not just teens, are becoming addicted to their cell phones.

many, her role as First Lady, delegate to the UN, Democratic Party member, humanitarian and social

an unfit woman cite many flaws in her leadership capacity. Roosevelt was never elected to office. She
was reluctant to assume the responsibilities of being the First Lady. Unlike Lincoln or King no single

It is easy to presume that that person is in the position they are in because of money, connections or an
extraordinary intellect. We may suppose that any adversity or problems that this type of person has
encountered are on another level to those that we face. Perhaps we don t imagine that there were
private obstacles to overcome, personality traits that needed adjustment or adaptation, that private
insecurities or personal failings had to be surmounted. It is simplest to assume that the role of
leadership was cut out for him/her alone. More often than not, one imagines that the leader in an
individual emerges early on in life, apparent from an early age: a bright child with above average
intelligence, active in all walks of life, successful in anything that he puts his/her hand to, popular with
peers and admired by elders. But nothing is that simple. Take Eleanor Roosevelt: Eleanor Roosevelt
was born into a rich elitist family. Her life was blessed with plenty, and she was brought up on a diet
of French maids, German maids and governesses. Her wealthy extended family assured her the
privilege of lavish living arrangements, she was brought on frequent visits to the theater, she had
libraries of books at her disposal and was given the chance to travel the world. The circumstances of

When the Republic of Senegal, formerly part of French West Africa (Mauritania, Senegal, Mali,
French Guinea, Côte d Ivoire, Upper Volta, Burkina Faso, Benin and Niger), gained its independence
on June 20, 1960, Léopold Senghor became the country s first president. There were several key
events that postured him to be the right person at the right time, as he took his position of the
presidency. Léopold Senghor s route to the presidency can be divided into four phases: Colonialism,
Négritude, World War II, and Political positions.

in the Fourth Republic. In July 1945, after his work on the Commission, he left Paris and returned to

a reality attributed to his work on the Monnerville Commission. He became a member of the French
Socialist Party (SFIO) and within 16 hours, he was nominated to compete for the position of Deputy
to the French National Constituent Assembly. His nomination was met with opposition because he
lived in Paris for 17 years and Senegalese did not see him as a True African . He, however, had
support from the well respected, Lamine Guèye (Mayor of Dakar and leader of the SFIO), who, was
running for top position of two deputy positions and they were both successful in their campaigns to
serve in these positions. Guèye supported Senghor, to serve as his Second Deputy to represent the
leaders of the interior, because he thought Senghor would be able to impress the French, therefore
having a certain amount of political clout to work in Senegal s favor for future policies, etc. Senghor,
later, was at odds with Guèye because Senghor believed that cultural matters should take

Chad Hines Mimi Analysis
Chad Hines s Mimi is a contemporary artwork that uses a multitude of media wood, fabric, paper,
metal, and paint, to name a few. The piece is currently located at CTC s annual faculty art show at the
Oveta Culp Hobby Memorial Library. It depicts a bust shot of an elderly woman, presumably Mimi
herself. Surrounding her is a jumbled conglomeration of materials. The piece is displayed on a wall at
eye level, bound by a frame.
To give a clearer understanding of Mimi s appearance, it is approximately two feet by two feet, with
most of the composition being taken up by the woman. She is drawn onto a material and is surrounded
by a primarily dark background, save for the very top region, which is an off white. In the regions
surrounding Mimi, there are materials like papers, textiles, and metals haphazardly affixed to the
framework, almost all of which contributing to the dark background, save for a select few accent
colors. Enclosing all of this is a dark, messy wooden frame. Hines has utilized many of the formal
elements in his work, giving it a highly individual appearance. To clarify, the depiction of the

The Effects Of Natural Resources On The Environment
Since the Industrial Revolution, natural resources have been under increasing pressure. The significant
changes in the amount of natural resources we have left have led to many issues, such as global public
health and global development. Other areas affected include the loss of forest, water and air pollution,
decrease in fresh water supply and degradation of soil. Today we are currently seeing dramatic
increases in global population. As the world s population continues to rise, natural resources will
continue to dwindle as long as we remain the same. The one thing that I would say is the most
challenging for humans is being able to advance in life, but still not destroy the environment. If you
look at most developed countries, it is evident that they consume resources way more rapidly than
developing countries. The problem with this is that all of these countries are consuming faster than
they can produce. Places like Africa and Asia are experiencing population momentum. These areas
have a tendency for population growth that continues to grow because of the high concentration of
people having kids. Better living conditions are definitely needed in these countries because of the
limited amount of resources being consumed by these regions. The over exploitation of these
resources will eventually lead to problems for future uses. As population increases, the need to expand
becomes more evident. The huge consumption and need for more food, land, water, and energy have

Ishmael a Novel by Daniel Quinn
In his novel Ishmael, Daniel Quinn discusses the destruction and salvation of the world. By way of a
newspaper ad, an unnamed narrator meets a telepathic gorilla, named Ishmael, who had put up the ad
to find a pupil with a desire to save the world. Spurred by his benefactor s obsession with Nazi
Germany, Ishmael imparts on the narrator what he knows best: captivity (Quinn 24). Ishmael claims
humans of what are considered civilized cultures are captives of a story that in turn keeps the world
captive. Ishmael calls this large group Takers, while he calls everyone else usually hunter gatherers of
primitive cultures Leavers (Quinn 39). In order to save the world, Ishmael believes Takers need to be
freed from the story they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Researchers of the University of New Mexico found the time of the extinction coincided more with
colonization by humans than climate change and that hunter gatherers, such as the Clovis people,
hunted the mammals for food (Lyons et al 339, 351 252; Wroe et al 320). Although it could be argued
that they were Leavers by not exterminating their competition, they could have instead been hunter
gatherer Takers believing all large mammals were something to be conquered and owned as
agricultural Takers view the soil of the world.
Despite this romanticization of the hunter gatherer lifestyle, however, Ishmael isn t urging people to
become hunter gatherers to save the world nor is he saying all hunter gatherers are Leavers. Ishmael
says settlement and, by extent, agriculture is a biological adaptation, which can compete with other
adaptations and, thus, is subject to the laws of competition (Quinn 135). If hunter gatherer Takers can
exist, agricultural Leavers could too, or as Ishmael bluntly puts it, The Leaver lifestyle isn t about
hunting and gathering, it s about letting the rest of the community live (Quinn 250). As Leaver groups
typically find a lifestyle that suits them, Takers could invent a new lifestyle, incorporating agriculture
and settlement, to avoid the destruction of the world.
As societies of today become more aware of their impact on the world, I feel we begin to work
towards belonging to the world

The Fight Against Catheter Associated Urinary Tract...
Over the years, the nursing practice has developed mechanisms towards improving service delivery
through research and management training. The fight against Catheter Associated Urinary Tract
Infections (CAUTIs) is one area that continuously attracts a lot of concern in nursing. Indwelling
urinary catheters (IUC) have been the best option in addressing CAUTI (Wilde et al., 2013). But this
has resulted in more health risks and compromised service delivery among nurses, calling for new
ways to either upgrade the existing mechanisms or invent new methods over the same. As a result, the
American Nurses Association, in conjunction with St. Francis Hospital clinical nurse specialists is
working on a pilot program that is in the last stages of its review. The program developed an evidence
based tool to be used in catheterization. Its main focus is to determine how health facilities can work
together to improve the quality of service delivery through good management, as well as evaluation of
its implication on performance, training, and future nursing practice (St. Francis Hospital and Medical
Center, 2016). As a result, this paper examines the milestone achieved by St Francis Hospital towards
quality improvement in catheter associated urinary tract contagions.
Literature Review The American Nurses Association and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
indicate that CAUTI is the high prevalence healthcare associated infection variety; hence it accounts
for at least 30% of acute

Reflection About Living With God
The book is about living with God, instead of living over, under, for, or from him. It talks about how
important it is to be aware of how we think about God and our relationship with him. I appreciate this
book a lot because the day I accepted Christ was when I finally understood that everything he did
wasn t to get me a get out of hell free card, it was to be able to spend the rest of this life drawing me
closer to him and to spend eternity with him. In that regard, the first part of the book was about what I
expected, but as I was surprised, encouraged, and challenged as I got further into the book.
The first point that stood out to me was the way we assign the way we value effectiveness to God; we
assume that he gauges success the same way we do. I love the way the author presented the story of
Moses striking the rock in the light of him doing only what he knew had worked in the past. He
followed a formula; and yes, he was effective, but he was not faithful or obedient. It is possible to
succeed without being in relationship with God. Along the same lines, one of the most helpful ways I
ve heard this concept presented is from Moses initial reaction with God; God finding Moses and
arguing back and forth with him while Moses makes excuse after excuse about everything he can t do.
God is not a God of efficiency. What would have been efficient is snapping his fingers and freeing all
the Israelite slaves from their captors in Egypt. But he chose to work through Moses;

My Profession Of Faith Essay
I remember the first time I was told about making my Profession of Faith. It was back when I was in
the sixth grade, during Wednesday night youth group at American Reformed Church. My youth leader,
Rosalyn De Koster, talked to us about how big of a step it is for kids to make their Profession of Faith
in front of the church. She told us, Your Profession of Faith is an important part in growing in your
faith . At the time, I was not at all ready to make this step, but it was good to learn about. Finally, two
years later, I made the step in making my Profession of Faith to grow in my faith and more... I was
baptized. Being raised in a Mennonite Church, I was never baptized. In the Mennonite faith, baptism
is not performed when a newborn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We usually tended to meet in his office and slowly worked through curriculum specifically for making
your Profession of Faith and being baptized. Throughout the curriculum, we worked through the book
of John in the Bible. It was a great experience hearing my pastors view on Jesus life and how we can
live it out. Words truly did jump out of the pages of the Bible when reading through scripture and the
book of John. I had never read through all of John so it helped me get a very detailed and fascinating
view on Jesus Christ s life. Throughout the reading and curriculum, I asked Pastor Mike many
questions, challenged the readings, and truly learned a lot through the experience Overall, the
curriculum helped change my way of thought and feelings towards scripture and the church. Finally,
in May 15, 2016, I was ready to make my public Profession of Faith. Pastor Mike helped work me
through and answer questions that further developed my faith, but now it was time to prove it in front
of American Reformed Church s congregation. First, I wrote my Statement of Faith. A few weeks
later, I was baptized and made my profession in front of the church. #8 As I said my profession in
front of my church congregation, I could feel the warmth of the Holy Spirt and love of Jesus Christ
over me. I realized how much God cares for me and how important it is to live my life out as a good
Christian. After my profession, my baptism occurred where water was poured over my head

Political Differences Between England And Russia
Previously, during the Early Middle Ages (500 1350), Western Europe went through a time of
Feudalism and Manorialism, and many political, economic, social, and several other, changes were
made. Then, during the Late Middle Ages (1300 1600), Western Europe was truly starting to form and
become its own territory. At the same time, Eastern European Russia was just beginning to form, and
it soon became one of the top civilizations. These two European territories were similar and different.
First, England and Russia had their similarities and differences politically. Next, the two parts of
Europe were extremely similar economically, albeit they had their differences as well. Finally,
culturally, England and Russia were quite different, yet still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In England, there were guilds and leagues, while on the contrary, Russia did not. A guild was a
medieval association of people of the same occupation that worked together to control wages and
prices. A league was a medieval group of people formed to promote and protect trade. Leagues also
made sure that people would buy products within the country. To do that, leagues would raise prices
on all imported goods, and they established a common measurement and weight system. Guilds and
leagues were used to help monitor the economy and keep everything inside England. Russia did not
have guilds nor leagues; their economy was based on estates. However, in the same fashion, both
Russian and English economies were agrarian. If something is agrarian, it means that it is
agriculturally based. The difference between the two economies, however, is that the West was
commercial, while the East was communal. Commercial is buying and selling, while communal is for
the community. Russia was based on the community, and was therefore self sufficient. With
commercial agriculture, England depended on others to buy their crops, and so they were not self
sufficient. The English use of guilds and leagues and being commercially based while Russia being
almost the complete opposite, made each of the economies distinct. The only true resemblance
between English and Russian economies was that they were both

5 Paragraph Reconstruction Essay
Paragraph Reconstruction Ballerinas can tell a story like no other. They are known for being graceful,
having such beauty, and poise in the way they care themselves. When given a part or role they commit
to it, because they are great storytellers it is easy to draw or paint them with a raw and emotional
background. A ballerina is known for having pain inflicted lives. Everything a dancer does is shown
through through their body. A dancer s body is well formed, toned, and defined, but more importantly
it s in their eyes and in their performance. The painting that I am analyzing show s exactly how dark a
dancer s can get.
The background is what sets the mood in a painting. The subtle, yet impressionable brush strokes with

From a woman s point of view, she looks as if she has reached her breaking point. Trying to stay
strong, her emotions overwhelm her while she dances and it becomes a little too much for her. A cry
for help is upon her. Her hair is also free and in a mess; normally when ballerinas perform their hair is
nice tight and in a bun. Her muscle so defined, and still pale as if she had seen a ghost. You can tell a
lot of work has been put into achieving the body she has. It stands out with the white, flowy, soft
dress.
Her clothing is white. It seems as if she is trying to still maintain her innocence; maybe the dress is
white because it symbolizes who she once were, or someone she longed to be. White coloring is
supposed to symbolize something pure; maybe with how the background is contrast the white coloring
can still show even though darkness is surrounding her, she can still maintain or be the person the
thought she lost. It is very easy for ballerinas to be painted as a tragedy figure because they are great
storytellers. They tend to capture every emotion and every aspect of a tragedy in one s life. The
appearance is everythings, and how they dance. From facial features to silhouette, even down to their
hair. Everything about their appearance makes them the perfect candidate to be drawn as the tragedy

The Virtessity Of Benjamin Franklin s Values Of Morality
How should one act in their everyday lives to best maximize human efficiency? This question
spawned Benjamin Franklin s 13 virtues as he sought so live the rest of his days with poise and proper
manners. He wrote his 13 virtues for human improvement so that any person could follow them and
achieve maximum human efficiency. One of his virtues, frugality, is shown throughout many different
stories and is described by Benjamin Franklin as Make no expense but to do good to others or
yourself; i.e., waste nothing. This idea of frugality is necessary to hold yourself properly when in the
company of others and allows a person to act in a manner of moderation and kindness. Many people
throughout many different literary works have portrayed this quality including the farmer in de
Crevecoeur s Letters from an American Farmer , Mother Shipton in The Outskirts of Poker Flat , and
Lucinda Matlock In de Crevecoeur s Letters from an American Farmer a man describes the vast
differences he sees in the new world compared to his previous life in Europe. He compares the two
countries and begins to find the vast differences between them. Because America is a relatively
underdeveloped country many people must turn to agriculture in order to produce enough food to
survive. This necessity leads to frugality as any waste could lead to severe starvation and death.
Without frugality in a nation such as America and the occupation of being a farmer, all excess food

response to many world crises such as the Ebola outbreak, the crash of M17 over the Ukraine, Libya s

narratives centered on industrialization or other macro economic developments .
Throughout the past 250 years, the world has seen drastic technological advances, the pivotal point in

realise the impacts of the Industrial Revolution on civilisation.
Cities stand at the center of major civilizations, and their organization and structure compose a vital

just for Manchester, but also for the rest of the world.
Both were formed through social, political and economic events. Their urban history allows us to pin

this point, excellence in business operations turns out to be grave. Operational excellence is a
philosophy principle in leadership, problem solving and teamwork that results in a consistent
improvements throughout the business as I focuses on the customers needs, employee empowerment,
and activity optimization along the process. Whenever people, systems and processes in any business
perfectly operate efficiently and productively, excellence is certain and goals and priorities become
achievable. This state should however be easy to achieve in such an ordeal world. There a few barriers
within the business can keep it from attaining operational excellence namely: 1. Lack of Collaboration
A business with well coordinated exercises that merges discrete steps into joined effort will experience
continues and sustainable improvements. This is however a challenge if each organization s function
acts independently without taking into account where and how the rest of the functions can add up to
their development plans. Operational strategies would be easier to implement if only employees could

Concrete Pillars Of Concrete Granite
Concrete slab is above Earth foundation type with a single layer of concrete with thickness of
typically about 4 inches to 6 inches and sometimes reinforce with steel rods. Steel rods or rebar have a
function to make the slab extremely strong and capable of bearing the load. The edges of the
foundation are usually thicker as to allow for more strength around the load in this case, the live load
and static load of rainwater tank. This type of foundation also may be used with the base soil of low
bearing capacity or weak subsoils that might be presents on site. In fact, sandy soil which known with
its low bearing capacity cover a large proportion of the landscape of Cambodia is appropriate for
reinforced concrete slab to be used as the base for the rainwater tank. In term of amount of material,
more material will be used as the area covered must be larger than the rainwater tank with minimum
of 100mm from the edge of rainwater tank compared to concrete ring wall foundation. However, the
concrete slab foundation can be considered cheap and economically viable for small tanks in which
less than 6 m due to its ease construction processes. The processes have several steps including
pouring the slab into the formwork and spreading with a shovel so all spaces of the formwork are
completely filled. Next, the slab surface is flatten and curing before formwork can be carefully
removed after 24 hours (CementAustralia, 2014).

Developing A Healthy Organizational Culture Essay
Human Resources approach performs an extremely essential function in creating and maintaining

should support the conversion, and help the workforces to acclimatize in a different environment. One
major objective of the innovative HR strategy will be to create a healthy organizational culture that

important role in developing a healthy organizational culture. (Dessler, 2013) Furthermore, the
innovative HR strategy will provide the workforces a platform where they can express their opinion,

Story of a Holocaust Survivor
I pray you never stand at any crossroads in your own lives, but if you do, if the darkness seems so
total, if you think there is no way out, remember, never ever give up. The darker the night, the brighter

These words were spoken by Gerda Klein, a Holocaust survivor. Her story is filled with desperation
and an overwhelming sense of hope. Gerda Weissmann was born in Bielsko, Poland. Both of her
parents and her older brother died during the Holocaust. She was somehow able to survive the ghetto,
deportation, slave labor camps and a three month death march. She was rescued by an American
soldier named Kurt Klein. She ended up marrying him and moving to the United States. Her story is
an example of a person who struggled with adversity but searched for a reason to hope. She has used
her remarkable survival as an inspiration for those who have no reason to believe they can overcome
struggles. She has a foundation named Citizenship Counts which teaches students about their rights
and the importance of their citizenship. She has written many books about her experiences and her
belief that hope will help a person overcome darkness. She travels the world today telling people her

Enobarbus is a vital character and a key element to the success of the play. Emrys Jones view on

Enobarbus speaks the truth. Wilson Knight states Enobarbus often sees the truth whilst his superiors
blunder at cross purposes. His opinions are spoken bluntly and sometimes at inappropriate times and
sometimes caustic. He joins in with the crowd both in Rome and Egypt. He first appears in the play
with the soothsayer, enjoying the company of Cleopatra s maids showing the audience that he can fit
into both geographical parts of the play with ease and confidence. Although he is portrayed as a
professional soldier he enjoys pleasure too, Most of our fortunes be drunk to bed he is sociable and
humorous and when he sees Cleopatra coming he jokes hush here come Antony. Although he enjoys a
drink he is serious when he is needed for military duty and takes the view work before pleasure
keeping within the Roman ideas of conduct. Wilson Knight states Enobarbus is the moral centre of the
play and through him shows that loyalty and the power of love overshadows common sense and
logical reasoning .
There are four main functions of Enobarbus within the play. He is used as a chorus for example in
commenting on the reconciliation of Antony and Caesar and Antony s marriage to Octavia.
Traditionally Shakespeare would use the chorus role as more of a secondary character to give the
audience an insight into what they should expect throughout the play and create picture like images so
that the audience can appreciate the scenes.

How The Corset Evolved From A Staple Of The British...
¬¬¬¬¬The fall and rise of the corset: From Queen Victoria to Jean Paul Gaultier. In this essay I want
to examine how the corset evolved from a staple of the British feminine wardrobe of the Nineteenth
Century into a symbol of an outmoded tradition only to later return as a statement of female liberation.
I am going to look at different aspects of this development including technological advances,
economic facts, external events, particularly the First World War and changes in social, political and
aesthetic attitudes. I will also look briefly at the role of Chanel on the silhouette and how this impacted
on the corset: focusing on the trend to towards opulent androgyny in the 1920 s. Finally I will examine

Laces usually fastened corsets at the back and were drawn tightly to alter the silhouette. The product
was a wasp waist effect, or as some have expressed, the hour glass figure .
The corset was of course associated with high society and was an important signifier of social class.
For example in the grand balls that often featured in Victorian novels, a restrictive corset was part of
the essential uniform Becky Sharpe in Vanity Fair for example. It also became associated with the
dandy aesthetic of the late Nineteenth Century (Oscar Wilde being an example) when it was worn by
men.
In the latter part of the Victorian era there were significant developments signaling the decline of the
corset. The way garments were produced is perhaps the key factor in the move away from the corset.
In 1839, a Frenchman by the name of Jean Werly patented a loom for the production of women s
corsets. This type of corset was popular until 1890, when machine made corsets gained popularity.
The development of the sewing machine in the early 1850 s gradually led to mass production,
manufacturers could produce corsets in far greater numbers and increase the variety of designs
available to women of all classes. These advances finally led the way to new designs in underwear in
keeping with the changes to the fashions and silhouettes of the early Twentieth Century.

An Organization s Political Structure
Abstract
Budgets are needed by many organisations and have been used since 1922, they re considered to be
key drivers and assessors of performance within a business. They re mainly used in an attempt to plan
and control organisations and their objectives. An organisation s political structure is mainly affected
by budgets as the managers at the top tend to use budgets as a means of power and authority.
Traditional budgeting has both advantages and disadvantages; recently, critics seem to be against the
use of traditional budgets within organisations. This is due to traditional budgeting being assumed to

strengths and weaknesses but why do critics disregard the use of traditional budgeting but still decide
to use it?
As the traditional budget is criticised; most companies still do not attempt to abandon it to move on to
other types of budgeting such as zero based. They usually attempt to improve it. The points made on
this paper may lead one to think that traditional budgeting is not effective and cannot be dealt with in
this day and age but more than 80% of companies still use it. A survey on 8000 managers in different
companies within America was released in 2010 (paper 1). Out of the managers who responded to the
survey; 6400 of them claimed that traditional budgeting was useful. 400 claimed that they were going
to abandon it and 8 managers responded saying that they were going to abandon traditional budgeting
within the next couple of years.
Traditional budgets are based on past performances but also take into consideration global rates such
as inflation rates. They are also moulded for the future; this is usually for a period of one year. It
attempts to list budgets for different organisations and these are what higher managers base their
judgement on for the managers that of lower hierarchy. This is through goals and plans

Hockey Is A Unifying Force
Hockey is closer to a religion than a simple sporting pastime in Canada. It is a unifying force in a
nation where one state wanted to separate from the rest of Canada. Hockey has a major impact on the
social, economic, cultural and political realms of Canada. In the 2014 olympics, alcohol laws in bars
were lifted when Canada was in the finals for the gold medal. People were drinking in 5 o clock in the
morning which would be frowned upon in many social circles in any other circumstances. Maurice is
credited with raising the National Hockey League to major sport status , he simply sold the game to
french canadians post great depression and you could say he stopped the National Hockey league from
folding as teams were dropping every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maurice Rocket Richard was one of the greatest hockey players to play in the National Hockey
League. He was ranked 5th behind greats like Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Mario Lemieux and
Bobby Orr by The Hockey News. Maurice got the 5th place honour due to his ability to put the puck
in the back of the net. He was one of the greatest goal scorers in the history of the game. He was the
first player to score 50 goals in 50 games, he was the first 500 goal scorer in the history of the NHL.
Not only did he score goals at will but he also scored the big goals, for example, he scored the most
goals scored in overtime during the post season, a record that he would hold until October 2006. Two
of them against the heavily favoured Detroit Red Wings in 1951 both in Detroit one a minute into the
4th overtime period and the next 2 minutes into 3rd overtime period. During his eighteen year hockey
career all with the Montreal Canadiens, he would collect eight stanley cups, one league MVP, eight
time first all star and sic time second all star. This goals would later make him maybe of the most
iconic player in the history of the Montreal Canadiens . One of the greatest assets richard had as a
hockey player was his eyes.
His eyes were considered to be ones from the look of escaped mental patient. and Balls shining out of

What Is The Difference Between The Harness And The Murder
John Steinbeck is the author of several very successful books, one of which being The Long Valley.
Steinbeck wrote about what he knew, regardless of whether or not it was appreciated by others. Not
everyone was immediately enamored by his writing, as his hometown of Salinas burned his books
(Curwen) when he was first beginning to write. However, as the stories gained popularity, Steinbeck
was able to return to his origins and found the National Steinbeck Center. The Long Valley is made up
of twelve different stories that consist of entirely different characters, but many similarities can be
found throughout the different stories in addition to the differences. The Harness and The Murder are
two stories that have both similarities and differences. The first story, The Harness , tells the story of a
model farmer named Peter Randall, who is highly respected within the community. In the beginning of
the story, Peter s wife, Emma Randall, dies, and Peter becomes predictably hysterical. However,
throughout the rest of the story, the reader learns how Peter s wife had dominated her husband and
made practically all of his decisions for him. The second story, The Murder , tells the story of another
married couple. The main character, Jim Moore, marries a sweet foreign girl named Jelka; however,
due to the communication barrier between the two, Moore begins to frequent brothels in order to
communicate with other women. At the end of the story, Moore finds Jelka cheating on

Hadji Murad Symbolism
In Hadji Murad, Leo Tolstoy employs symbolism to great effect, especially when it comes to the
parallels between a Tartar thistle and the title character, Hadji Murad. The narrator describes the Tartar
thistle he finds growing in a ditch at the beginning and the end of story, and the thistle becomes a
significant symbol in two ways. The first is that it represents the life of Murad. The second is that the
thistle mirrors the death of Murad. The thistle s ability to represent both the life and death Murad
makes it a vital usage of symbolism in telling the story of Murad. One reason the Tartar thistle is
important to Hadji Murad is that it represents Murad s life. Readers are able to establish this through
several different references. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be seen when the narrator has difficulty trying to pick the thistle from the ditch, describing
his experience as, Not only did the stalk prick on every side even through the handkerchief I wrapped
round my hand but it was so tough that I had to struggle with it for nearly five minutes, breaking the
fibres one by one; and when I had at last plucked it, the stalk was all frayed, and the flower itself no
longer seemed so fresh and beautiful (Tolstoy 20). The narrator s struggle to take the thistle represents
the battle by the Russians to capture Murad after he escapes to help his family. Throughout the fight
Murad was shot multiple times, but he continued to fight and take down the Russians, much like the
thistle losing its fibres as it continues to prick the narrator s hand. Finally Murad is felled by the
Russians who hack at his body and finally decapitate him. Murad, like the thistle is no longer fresh
and beautiful (Tolstoy 273 289). Another indication that the thistle represents Murad s death is its
color, which is crimson (Tolstoy 20). The color is seen again when Murad is beheaded and the blood
pouring from him is also described as crimson (289). Then there is the narrator s line, I felt sorry to
have vainly destroyed a flower that looked beautiful in its proper place, and I threw it away (Tolstoy
20). This attitude is reflected when Mary Dmítrievna expresses her

Turtle Bay History
The Headquarters of the United Nations is a complex in New York City. The complex has served as
the official headquarters of the United Nations since its completion in 1952. It is located in the Turtle
Bay neighborhood of Manhattan, on spacious grounds overlooking the East River. Its borders are First
Avenue on the west, East 42nd Street to the south, East 48th Street on the north and the East River to
the east.[2] The term Turtle Bay is occasionally used as a metonym for the UN headquarters or for the
United Nations as a whole.[3]
The United Nations has three additional, subsidiary, regional headquarters, or headquarters districts.
These were opened in Geneva (Switzerland) in 1946, Vienna (Austria) in 1980, and Nairobi (Kenya)
in 2011.[4] These adjunct offices help represent UN interests, facilitate diplomatic activities, and enjoy
certain extraterritorial privileges, but only the main headquarters in New York contains the seats of the
principal organs of the UN, including the General Assembly and Security Council. All fifteen of the

They are technically extraterritorial through a treaty agreement with the U.S. government. However,
in exchange for local police, fire protection and other services, the United Nations agrees to
acknowledge most local, state, and federal laws.[5]
The United Nations Headquarters complex was constructed in stages with the core complex completed
between 1948 and 1952. The Headquarters occupies a site beside the East River, on between 17 and
18 acres (7 and 7 ha)[note 1][6] of land purchased from the real estate developer, William Zeckendorf,

Legalizing Assisted Suicide Persuasive Essay
With the advances in medicine, physicians have the ability to extend a patient s life many years passed
what was possible even a mere fifty years ago. However, the quality of life of those extended years
has become a major topic of discussion. Many times the surviving years are miserable for the patient,
as well as the family. Legalizing assisted suicide would benefit Medicare by bringing it out of huge
debt. Also, it would relieve the pain of terminal patients and open a door of opportunity for patients on
the transplant list waiting for an organ. Because of all humans eventually die, every person should
have the right to live a pain free life. Although some religions are opposed to it, assisted suicide
should be legal in all of the United States to the terminally ill.
Assisted suicide/euthanasia has been a controversial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most commonly known forms are passive and active euthanasia. Passive is when a patient refuses
life saving medical treatment, and active is when lethal medication is injected into the patient.
Euthanasia itself is intentional killing by act or omission of a dependent human being for his or her
alleged benefit (Batten 398 400). Assisted suicide is when someone provides an individual with the
information, guidance, and means to take his or her own life with the intention that they be used for
this purpose (Batten 398 400). Physician assisted suicide is when a doctor is the one who assists, such
as by prescribing a lethal dose of medication. Assisted Suicide is legal in Oregon, Washington,
Montana, Vermont, and New Mexico. New regulations were brought about when these states legalized
assisted suicide. Specifically, you must make two oral request and one written one, two doctors must
be convinced that the decision is voluntarily, and you must be over eighteen (Batten

  • 3. The Advancements Of India Over Time India over time has been one of the most balanced governments in history. There has been very few big conflicts with other countries and their own government. I am researching the advancements of the indian world from when it started all the way up into modern day history. Also, knowing the likeliness that they have changed a lot over multiple centuries I will search for primary sources that I think will best describe the changes that have taken place over the years. Towards the start of the 16th Century in the year 1504 Babur captured Kabul to take their first control of the Mughal Empire (History World). The official launching of the Mughal Empire was in 1526 nearing the completion of the Battle at Panipat where the Babur once again took down the Sultan of Delhi to become the first major lead group of the new empire. Throughout time the Babur kept fighting to maintain control of the Mughal. This plan from the opponents of Babur did not expect to be knocked out of the running for the empire and all of the fighting led to advancements of taking over more of what is now modern day India (History World). As time went on multiple landowners who were also wealthy started building places for them to live in. Such as palaces, houses, and also multiple pieces of land that they would buy to continue to upgrade the city or empire to make it even more valuable to live in and would make it more likely to have more battles for possession of the land. • 4. The Importance Of A Common National Language Common national language has consistently been a fundamental driving force to uphold national bonding all over the globe. This can be recognized by historical examples ranging from those found in Western countries to Asian countries, such as how French was adopted as a means to reunify France as a whole country after the French Revolution and how Korea has made use of a common Korean language to unite the Three Kingdoms and to secure statehood. In this context, common national language refers to a language, both written and spoken that has connections, de facto or de jure with users and the territory they occupy and exists originally but is then forged to be the first language to shape a politically desired national identity. To strengthen the national solidarity, it has sometimes been proposed that a typical national language is indispensable for accelerating the formation of an appropriate national identity. This essay will argue that common national language is the key to sustain nationhood because users can gain a greater sense of belongings and togetherness towards the nation. This will be asserted by demonstrating how a particular concept can be stressed with a language while speaking and by showing how a common national language could reduce the communication gap between nationals with different mother tongues. A key argument for adopting a universal national language is that speakers of a language can incline to certain types of information while speaking (Mooney ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Construction Of A Local Public School Last year, the city of Colchester, England decided to expand the building of a local public school due to a growing population. The land on which the school is built holds an abundant amount of archaeological information relevant to the history of Colchester. This data was only briefly reached in 1911 when amateur archaeologist, Henry Jones, was given permission to quickly excavate the site. This came about after century old human remains were discovered during the construction of the original school. From his excavations, Jones concluded that the remains of the three bodies discovered were killed during the Boudiccan Rebellion in 60 61 CE. Due to the circumstances under which Jones performed his excavations, he was not able to produce a stratigraphic section of the site. Jones also failed to keep any written record of his excavations and the remaining artifacts and remains have since been lost. With the expansion of the school in Colchester, it is my job to perform a thorough excavation of the site before construction begins. This date was formulated from the average of seven radiocarbon samples. Due to the lack of cultural material present in the stratum, it can be surmised that this stratum was uninhabited. Ehrlich, Sporte, and Sebring (2013) reported the differences in technology use in districts in Chicago. The study found that 92 percent of students have access to the internet and technology at home. However, the frequency of use varied depending on the school that the students attended. Twenty to thirty percent of students used technology at school never or rarely. An inequality of technology exists between schools and schools that use technology. Schools that frequently use technology have higher achieving students. Enrich et al., (2010) stated, Technology use is ubiquitous in America s colleges and most workplaces, and it is fast becoming accepted as fact that all students elementary and high school must be exposed to technology (p. 1). We may suppose that any adversity or problems that this type of person has encountered are on another level to those that we face. It is simplest to assume that the role of leadership was cut out for him/her alone. The piece is currently located at CTC s annual faculty art show at the Oveta Culp Hobby Memorial Library. It depicts a bust shot of an elderly woman, presumably Mimi herself. • 15. The Effects Of Natural Resources On The Environment Since the Industrial Revolution, natural resources have been under increasing pressure. The significant changes in the amount of natural resources we have left have led to many issues, such as global public health and global development. Other areas affected include the loss of forest, water and air pollution, decrease in fresh water supply and degradation of soil. Today we are currently seeing dramatic increases in global population. As the world s population continues to rise, natural resources will continue to dwindle as long as we remain the same. The one thing that I would say is the most challenging for humans is being able to advance in life, but still not destroy the environment. If you look at most developed countries, it is evident that they consume resources way more rapidly than developing countries. The problem with this is that all of these countries are consuming faster than they can produce. Places like Africa and Asia are experiencing population momentum. These areas have a tendency for population growth that continues to grow because of the high concentration of people having kids. Better living conditions are definitely needed in these countries because of the limited amount of resources being consumed by these regions. The over exploitation of these resources will eventually lead to problems for future uses. As population increases, the need to expand becomes more evident. Spurred by his benefactor s obsession with Nazi Germany, Ishmael imparts on the narrator what he knows best: captivity (Quinn 24). Ishmael claims humans of what are considered civilized cultures are captives of a story that in turn keeps the world captive. Although it could be argued that they were Leavers by not exterminating their competition, they could have instead been hunter gatherer Takers believing all large mammals were something to be conquered and owned as agricultural Takers view the soil of the world. Despite this romanticization of the hunter gatherer lifestyle, however, Ishmael isn t urging people to become hunter gatherers to save the world nor is he saying all hunter gatherers are Leavers. Ishmael says settlement and, by extent, agriculture is a biological adaptation, which can compete with other adaptations and, thus, is subject to the laws of competition (Quinn 135). If hunter gatherer Takers can exist, agricultural Leavers could too, or as Ishmael bluntly puts it, The Leaver lifestyle isn t about hunting and gathering, it s about letting the rest of the community live (Quinn 250). • 17. The Fight Against Catheter Associated Urinary Tract... Over the years, the nursing practice has developed mechanisms towards improving service delivery through research and management training. The fight against Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTIs) is one area that continuously attracts a lot of concern in nursing. Indwelling urinary catheters (IUC) have been the best option in addressing CAUTI (Wilde et al., 2013). But this has resulted in more health risks and compromised service delivery among nurses, calling for new ways to either upgrade the existing mechanisms or invent new methods over the same. As a result, the American Nurses Association, in conjunction with St. Francis Hospital clinical nurse specialists is working on a pilot program that is in the last stages of its review. The program developed an evidence based tool to be used in catheterization. Its main focus is to determine how health facilities can work together to improve the quality of service delivery through good management, as well as evaluation of its implication on performance, training, and future nursing practice (St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, 2016). As a result, this paper examines the milestone achieved by St Francis Hospital towards quality improvement in catheter associated urinary tract contagions. • 18. Reflection About Living With God The book is about living with God, instead of living over, under, for, or from him. It talks about how important it is to be aware of how we think about God and our relationship with him. I appreciate this book a lot because the day I accepted Christ was when I finally understood that everything he did wasn t to get me a get out of hell free card, it was to be able to spend the rest of this life drawing me closer to him and to spend eternity with him. In that regard, the first part of the book was about what I expected, but as I was surprised, encouraged, and challenged as I got further into the book. The first point that stood out to me was the way we assign the way we value effectiveness to God; we assume that he gauges success the same way we do. I love the way the author presented the story of Moses striking the rock in the light of him doing only what he knew had worked in the past. He followed a formula; and yes, he was effective, but he was not faithful or obedient. It is possible to succeed without being in relationship with God. Along the same lines, one of the most helpful ways I ve heard this concept presented is from Moses initial reaction with God; God finding Moses and arguing back and forth with him while Moses makes excuse after excuse about everything he can t do. God is not a God of efficiency. What would have been efficient is snapping his fingers and freeing all the Israelite slaves from their captors in Egypt. But he chose to work through Moses; ... At the same time, Eastern European Russia was just beginning to form, and it soon became one of the top civilizations. These two European territories were similar and different. A guild was a medieval association of people of the same occupation that worked together to control wages and prices. A league was a medieval group of people formed to promote and protect trade. Leagues also made sure that people would buy products within the country. To do that, leagues would raise prices on all imported goods, and they established a common measurement and weight system. Guilds and leagues were used to help monitor the economy and keep everything inside England. Russia did not have guilds nor leagues; their economy was based on estates. However, in the same fashion, both Russian and English economies were agrarian. If something is agrarian, it means that it is agriculturally based. The difference between the two economies, however, is that the West was commercial, while the East was communal. Commercial is buying and selling, while communal is for the community. Russia was based on the community, and was therefore self sufficient. With commercial agriculture, England depended on others to buy their crops, and so they were not self sufficient. The English use of guilds and leagues and being commercially based while Russia being almost the complete opposite, made each of the economies distinct. The product was a wasp waist effect, or as some have expressed, the hour glass figure . The corset was of course associated with high society and was an important signifier of social class. For example in the grand balls that often featured in Victorian novels, a restrictive corset was part of the essential uniform Becky Sharpe in Vanity Fair for example. It also became associated with the dandy aesthetic of the late Nineteenth Century (Oscar Wilde being an example) when it was worn by men. In the latter part of the Victorian era there were significant developments signaling the decline of the corset. The way garments were produced is perhaps the key factor in the move away from the corset. In 1839, a Frenchman by the name of Jean Werly patented a loom for the production of women s corsets. This type of corset was popular until 1890, when machine made corsets gained popularity. The development of the sewing machine in the early 1850 s gradually led to mass production, manufacturers could produce corsets in far greater numbers and increase the variety of designs available to women of all classes. These advances finally led the way to new designs in underwear in keeping with the changes to the fashions and silhouettes of the early Twentieth Century. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Traditional budgeting has strengths and weaknesses but why do critics disregard the use of traditional budgeting but still decide to use it? As the traditional budget is criticised; most companies still do not attempt to abandon it to move on to other types of budgeting such as zero based. They usually attempt to improve it. The points made on this paper may lead one to think that traditional budgeting is not effective and cannot be dealt with in this day and age but more than 80% of companies still use it. A survey on 8000 managers in different companies within America was released in 2010 (paper 1). Out of the managers who responded to the survey; 6400 of them claimed that traditional budgeting was useful. 400 claimed that they were going to abandon it and 8 managers responded saying that they were going to abandon traditional budgeting within the next couple of years. Traditional budgets are based on past performances but also take into consideration global rates such as inflation rates. • 43. What Is The Difference Between The Harness And The Murder John Steinbeck is the author of several very successful books, one of which being The Long Valley. Steinbeck wrote about what he knew, regardless of whether or not it was appreciated by others. Not everyone was immediately enamored by his writing, as his hometown of Salinas burned his books (Curwen) when he was first beginning to write. However, as the stories gained popularity, Steinbeck was able to return to his origins and found the National Steinbeck Center. The Long Valley is made up of twelve different stories that consist of entirely different characters, but many similarities can be found throughout the different stories in addition to the differences. The Harness and The Murder are two stories that have both similarities and differences. The first story, The Harness , tells the story of a model farmer named Peter Randall, who is highly respected within the community. In the beginning of the story, Peter s wife, Emma Randall, dies, and Peter becomes predictably hysterical. However, throughout the rest of the story, the reader learns how Peter s wife had dominated her husband and made practically all of his decisions for him. The second story, The Murder , tells the story of another married couple. The main character, Jim Moore, marries a sweet foreign girl named Jelka; however, due to the communication barrier between the two, Moore begins to frequent brothels in order to communicate with other women. At the end of the story, Moore finds Jelka cheating on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Hadji Murad Symbolism In Hadji Murad, Leo Tolstoy employs symbolism to great effect, especially when it comes to the parallels between a Tartar thistle and the title character, Hadji Murad. The narrator describes the Tartar thistle he finds growing in a ditch at the beginning and the end of story, and the thistle becomes a significant symbol in two ways. The first is that it represents the life of Murad. The second is that the thistle mirrors the death of Murad. The thistle s ability to represent both the life and death Murad makes it a vital usage of symbolism in telling the story of Murad. One reason the Tartar thistle is important to Hadji Murad is that it represents Murad s life. Readers are able to establish this through several different references. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be seen when the narrator has difficulty trying to pick the thistle from the ditch, describing his experience as, Not only did the stalk prick on every side even through the handkerchief I wrapped round my hand but it was so tough that I had to struggle with it for nearly five minutes, breaking the fibres one by one; and when I had at last plucked it, the stalk was all frayed, and the flower itself no longer seemed so fresh and beautiful (Tolstoy 20). The narrator s struggle to take the thistle represents the battle by the Russians to capture Murad after he escapes to help his family. Throughout the fight Murad was shot multiple times, but he continued to fight and take down the Russians, much like the thistle losing its fibres as it continues to prick the narrator s hand. Finally Murad is felled by the Russians who hack at his body and finally decapitate him. Murad, like the thistle is no longer fresh and beautiful (Tolstoy 273 289). Another indication that the thistle represents Murad s death is its color, which is crimson (Tolstoy 20). The color is seen again when Murad is beheaded and the blood pouring from him is also described as crimson (289). Then there is the narrator s line, I felt sorry to have vainly destroyed a flower that looked beautiful in its proper place, and I threw it away (Tolstoy 20). This attitude is reflected when Mary Dmítrievna expresses her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Legalizing Assisted Suicide Persuasive Essay With the advances in medicine, physicians have the ability to extend a patient s life many years passed what was possible even a mere fifty years ago.
