Cyber Criminals, Thieves, And Terrorism
Every day, hospitals in the United States and around the world are working long hours in
responding to emergencies, attending patients, delivering newborn babies, performing surgeries,
and foremost saving lives. Not too long ago, cyberspace has given institutions such as hospitals the
tools to accumulate and file as much information and data as possible in this great space of
technology, networks, and systems. Information such as patient s information, treatments,
machinery, as well as having a better way to have a secure place to store them and have
authorization in accessing them. However, such tools had been used as weapons by those who
want to have access and possession of such critical information and control by cyber criminals,
thieves, and terrorists. Unfortunately, it s not simple to live in a world in which laws can just
simply protect institutions that help save lives. Rather, hospitals have fallen as victims of
cyberattacks.
On the evening of February 5th, at Los Angeles, California, doctors and staff from Hollywood
Presbyterian Medical Center, noticed several technical issues while trying to access the hospital s
computer network. The hospital s IT department was notified, and they began their investigation to
determine the cause of these issues. However, these issues carried on for approximately a week,
which was a frustration for doctors and staff members because they were unable to digitally access
patient s medical records and treatments, communication via

Michelle Obama Embodies The American Dream
In order to better society, the world constantly needs people to advocate for their beliefs. The idea
of the American Dream encompasses not only hard work to achieve success, but also the
obligation of people to extend their potentials to better the world. To live the American Dream
means that one constantly puts forth energy to make a bettersociety. Michelle Obamaembodies the
American Dream in that she works hard for her success, and uses her success to advocate for the
needs of others. The platform of knowledge and understanding of society that Michelle Obama
has created for herself enables her to become the ideal image of the American Dream. The
possibilities are endless once one has access to education, and Obama not only uses her hard
earned education to better her own life, but works to inspire the world to make education more
readily available for others. Obama uses the means given to her and utilizes her own experiences
to improve the lives of others. The true definition of the American Dream is perfectly
encompassed by Michelle Obama, in that it is greater than oneself and how advocating and
bettering society is the only way to achieve both internal and external success. The mindset of hard
work and determination that Obama had set early on in her life is what makes her success... Show

These morals are shown in Michelle Obama s life work and success. Positive change in the
world is made one step at a time, and Obama embodies that spirit. Obama s success is not just
merely determined by her status in society, but rather her hard work, charity efforts, and pure
appreciation for everything. Her unconditional love for the country and its citizens, her unflinching
sacrifice, and her beliefs to make the world a place where girls can go places they never imagined
for themselves makes Michelle Obama the epitome of the American

The Home Improvement Industry
The U.S. kitchen renovation market reached $17 billion in 2005. Growth in this market was at
an all time high in the mid 2000s, but the economic recession in 2008 also led to a slowdown in
this sector. Research indicated that approximately 75 percent of kitchen remodeling projects
were done through professionals, while 25 percent were completed by homeowners themselves.
Most of the DIY projects were undertaken by lower income homeowners who could not afford to
hire professional service firms (see Exhibit 1 for a breakdown of source of kitchen remodeling
services by income). Major kitchen remodeling projects cost anywhere between $40,000 and
$80,000, depending on the choice of materials (see Exhibit 2 for details on trends in kitchen
remodeling costs).
The home renovation industry was highly fragmented; nearly 30 percent of the industry consisted
of private, local companies who reported less than $100,000 in revenue annually.2 The industry
included professional companies, divisions within home stores, small local companies, and
independent contractors. Small companies and independent contractors had

How Does Okonkwo Use Violence In Things Fall Apart
Throughout the book Things Fall Apart , Okonkwo has always been an issue. He has made
many mistakes using violence before and has had consequences for all of them. Some of them
were worse than others. The violent actions that Okonkwo has done like when he killed the
clansman s son or when he killed Ikemefuna, has developed the theme of respect and reputation.
Killing Ikemefuna was definitely one of the biggest moments of violence that Okonkwo has made.
Even though he didn t want to kill Ikemefuna, he thought he had to. Dazed with fear, Okonkwo
drew his machete and cut him down. He was afraid of being thought weak. Okonkwo loved
Ikemefuna but he had to keep his reputation of being violent. If Okonkwo didn t do what he
needed to do, his people

Bull Frog Research Paper
During my summer on August 23, 2015, my brother and I went to Kensington metro park to see
if we could catch a frog. At the park we found a pond full of frogs and we finally caught a frog
called The Bull frog, it had green and brown spots and a bright green upper lip and a creamy
yellowish belly, it was three to eight inches long. Bull frogs is mostly found statewide, but numbers
have been reduced locally due to overharvesting for froglegs. Now rare over much of state. The
Bullfrogcould be as the size of a toad, but there is a big difference. Frogs have two bulging eyes
strong, long, webbed hind feet that are adapted for leaping and swimming, it has smooth or slimy
skin, frogs tend to lay eggs in clusters. Unlike Toads, Toads have stubby bodies with short hind
legs, for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The chest cartilage of toads is different also. Toads tend to lay eggs in long chains. There are only
two native toads in Michigan, which are The Eastern American Toad and The Fowler s Toad,
they are mostly the same ,but different in shape and color. The Eastern toad is mostly brownish
skin is very warty. Short, but large and muscular hind legs allow it to move more easily through
woodlands and backyards. Throat and belly white speckled with black. Found common statewide.
The Eastern American Toad is similar to The American Toad, but throat and belly is usually plain
colored and has more warts, three or more in each dark spot on the back. Two to thirtytwo inches
long. Found in western and southern Lower Peninsula. Many of toads and frogs population has
dropped over time and the reason behind this is the Amphibian Decline. Many species have lost
most of their population for many reasons like climate change, small changes in temperature and
moisture, changes in global weather pattern and many trees getting cut down. People could change
that in many ways, by keeping the place clean, keeping factories away from nature, less cutting
trees and treating nature in a better way possible.

Difference Between Real And Fake Friendships
Compare and Contrast Paper It takes time for me to consider someone to be my friend. I am a
very friendly person and I like to meet new people but just because I talk to you doesn t mean
that we re friends. I could very well like you and still won t call you my friend. I wasn t born this
way but i ve been in many crazy situations and it took some time for me to distinguish between
real and fake friendships. I don t call someone my friend until I feel like we have bond we can
communicate, and I trust them. It all starts with having the same interests as someone. I probably
wouldn t be friends with someone who is into art museums and classical music. Or someone who
is a homebody and doesn t talk. A personality and attitude will show you if... Show more content on

The Stories Of Cinderella, Snow White, And Sleeping Beauty
Most of us grew up watching and reading the stories of Cinderella, Snow White and, Sleeping
Beauty all of which were produced by Disney. But what if I told you that the versions you grew up
watching and reading are far from the original versions depicted by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm,
better known as the Brothers Grimm. In their tale of Cinderellathere was no fairy godmother, the
step sisters cut off portions of their feet to fit into the slipper and none of the animals talked or
sang, but rather plucked out the step sister s eyes as punishment for the mistreatment of Cinderella.
Which begs the question, what inspired the brother s to write these types short stories, which are
so not what is recognized today as a fairy tale? The rags to riches tale of Cinderella (the Brothers
Grimm version) the maiden later known as Cinderella goes from a beloved and cherished
daughter, to a household slave after the death of her mother and father s remarriage to a cruel
step mother and two heartless step sisters. To which is very similar to the Disney version most
of us are familiar with today. The authors do a good job of laying out the magical portion of the
tale which was created through the tears she shed every over the tree branch she planted at her
mother s grave that flourished into a tree and produced a white bird at each of her visits that
granted her whatever she wished for.
The authors keep to a more realistic setting in the story that was true to their era and German

The Importance Of Juvenile Delinquency
Juvenile delinquency is an issue that remains troublesome since it is in direct correlation with adult
crime. While the age crime curve, which is universal in Western populations remains constant,
persistence in terms of criminal behavior seems higher for individuals who start early in life (NIJ,
N.A.). Since girls tend to start offending at a younger age, they should receive more attention in
terms of prevention but they do not (NIJ, N.A.). Selecting female juvenile delinquencyas an issue
since it should receive more attention than it has been granted in the past seems adequate. Girls
enter a system that was created by men for men and lacks of appropriate programs and initiatives
for a population that requires it. The lack of gender responsive programs and consideration for
criminal pathways make this issue important to analyze. In the past, girls have been considered as
deviant for a multitude of different aspects, whether it is related to their sexuality, their mental
instability or their refusal to adhere to their social roles. We now see a trend where girls commit
similar crimethan boys, while they remain less violent, they have expanded in the participation in
criminal behavior. Research shows that girls become delinquent for different reasons than boys, but
those differences are rarely addressed in the juvenile justice setting. Offering truly gender
responsive programming and educating society and justice professionals as to which pathways lead
to criminality in

Antonio Da Correggio Holy Night Nato Essay
Artwork is often used to represent and symbolise the Gospel and important figures to Christianity.
One of the artworks chosen is Holy Night Nativity Scene by Antonio da Correggio created in
1530. This artwork focuses on the birth of Jesus and lays the scene of which he enters the world.
The other one is the Annunciation by created in 2003. This artwork focuses on the moment Gabriel
tells Marythat she is pregnant with Jesus.
The Holy Night Nativity Scene relates directly to the verse And she gave birth to her firstborn
son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place
for them in the inn (Luke 2:7). It is symbolic of Jesus birth and represents that although his birth

them with his spirit as he will do the rest of his life. They are all looking down at him especially
Mary whose sole focus is directly on Jesus. This highlights her nurturing nature and the love she
has for him and signifies just how big a part she plays in Jesus life and teachings. The allows the
audience to understand and appreciate the deep connection between Jesus and Mary. As Mary
looks at Jesus, Joseph is looking at the two of them adoringly. Although Jesus isn t his biological

Christian as it reminds them to love anyone and everyone. This is one of the main aspects Jesus
taught throughout his life as he believed it to be of utmost importance.

Benjamin Franklin And Booker T Washington Analysis
Benjamin Franklin and Booker T. Washington use their respective autobiographies to document
their experiences in both poverty and politics. These pieces of writing cover the full expanse of
Washington and Franklin s careers, from uneducated children to highly successful adults, and
within them, both men recorded the lessons they had learned and the wisdom they would like to
impart. Throughout their lives, it is clear that though the two individuals were raised in different
times, they share similar stories of personal growth. It is also abundantly clear that both lives were
significantly shaped by women: Franklin and Washington were born from women, married to
women, and funded by women. However, in each biography, every womandescribed in the lives of
these great men share one common facet; they are afterthoughts. These women are mentioned
briefly or in passing, regardless of the impact they left or the change they inspired. Up from Slavery
and The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklinboth portray women as props in the lives of men, and
in reading these autobiographies I have examined both my own life and how it compares to the
other women I ve known.
Benjamin Franklin looks past the many women in his life through his complete lack of

The Challenges Of The Conflict Between North And South Korea
The fourth challenge to unite these two countries is their conflicts. This conflict is start from 1950
to1953. North Korea forces invaded South Korea in 1950 because, at that time both government
want to unite these two states (Wikipedia, List of border incidents involving North Korea, 2015).
The Korean War began as a civil war between North and South Korea, but the conflict soon became
international when, under U.S leadership, the United Nations joined to support South Korea and
the People s Republic of China (PRC) entered to aid North Korea. The Korea war ends when a
ceasefire agreement is signed in July 1953 (Wikipedia, Ceasefire, 2015). Finally, North Korean
leader King Li Sung decided to invade to South Korea. 2million people died during in the war. The

Martin Luther King Successful
Have you ever thought about why the leaders of massive revolutions such as the Indian
Independence Movement and the Civil Rights Movement were so successful at initiating change
and getting others to be receptive? Recently, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I watched King s
famous, I have a Dream speech that took place on August 28, 1963, following the March on
Washington. While watching, I became very interested and curious about why King was the leader
of this movement. After all, he was one in millions who had suffered from the injustice and cruelty
brought upon the black minority by the white majority. So why King? After analyzing the I have a

Love is the most powerful force in the universe and King understood this. Despite the fact that he
and his people had been treated with nothing but fear, hate, and cruelty from white men, he had a
great understanding that this same behavior would not solve the issue. You cannot fight fire with
fire. Like many other successful revolutions, King knew that love and peaceful protest was the
only way anything was going to change for his people. King preached that the only way to make
an enemy a friend is through love. Although it may have been very difficult for the majority of
black people to choose love over fear when they hadn t received love their entire lives, he strongly
encouraged his people to not hate the white man, for it would simply make the problem worse.
King understood the only way to achieve true equality is with brotherhood, acceptance, and love
for all living beings. This only begins to scratch the surface of what made Martin Luther King an
incredible leader who made history. By looking at how King was able to communicate his ideas
effectively, we can apply the techniques he used in our own lives in order to become better
communicators. Communicating is certainly one of our greatest assets as human beings and it is a
skill that can change the world, as Martin demonstrated on August 28th, 1963. Through passion,

Topic Sentences
When you write, you form paragraphs. A paragraph is a group of sentences that relate in topic and

sentence. A topic sentence is a general statement that announces what the paragraphis about. By
starting a paragraph with a topic sentence, your audience may immediately identify your topic. This
construction also helps you, the writer, stay focused on your subject.

Examples Of Id Ego And Superego In Lord Of The Flies
Sigmund Freud created the structural model of personality that describes the id, ego, and
superego parts of a person. Id is represented as the devil and based on the pleasure and benefiting
themselves. Ego is the angel and devil together, where there is balance of good and bad. Lastly,
superego is shown as the angel with good behavior and morals. In Golding s book Lord of the
Flies, he uses Jack, Ralph, and Piggy to represent Sigmund Freuds theory of the three personalities:
id, ego, and superego.
Throughout the book, it can be noticed that Jack has the id personality. He wants to kill the pigs
not for the benefit of the group, but for himself. He can also be seen as the devil because of how
he acts. When Ralph and Jack were talking to each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the group were discussing about the fire, Piggy says, Cos the smoke s a signal and we
can t be rescued if we don t have smoke (173). Piggy is working to help out the boys by trying to
inform them about their situation, and how they can fix it together. Piggy is the voice of reason
out of all the boys by telling them how things will affect them as a group, and that is just like
how the superego tells the ego on how the action will influence society. Piggy always wants what
is best for the group, and wants them all to get off the island safely. When the group decided to
move the fire from the mountain, Golding describes, Piggy was so full of delight and
expanding liberty in Jack s departure, so full of pride in his contribution to the good of society,
that he helped to fetch wood (129). Piggy wants to guide the boys on the right path of survival,
and enjoys when he is able to help. His involvement in book by helping Ralph and the other boys
is based on the focus of the superego to help the needs of society.
Golding s Lord of the Flies takes the structural model of personality and uses it to represent Jack,
Ralph, and Piggy in the novel. He uses them to show how they interact with each other in society.
He wants the readers to understand that the id makes decisions and actions that feels good for
themselves, and not for others. The superego wants to help out society, and follow good morals,
but often gets overpowered and ignored by the id. Lasty, the ego is a balance of the two, and

May I please just pass...? I am detective Aurelia Price, and I am here to ask Mr. Brownsome

However, instead of going to rebuilding the country, the money was swindled by the Somoza

John F Kennedy s Influence On Government
Many have regarded the American presidency as the most influential position a US citizen can
hold. Since the inauguration of General George Washington, the President of the United States has
expanded the power and overall influence of the office. In becoming increasingly prominent

domestic, or national security policies to expand that power.

Foremost was the President s implementation of a conservative...New Deal (373) 1 in which he
challenged the new deal and formed it to a more conservative liking, focused primarily on
feeding the American people decentralized solutions of state and local governments, rather then
federal handouts. Out of this, a sort of paradox emerged; to reduce federal power, it was
necessary to increase presidential power (373). 1 Out of which came a centralization of
management in the White House, or a more consolidated power within the White House itself in
terms of domestic policy decisions. Branded New Federalism , Nixon started off by issuing
executive orders further emphasizing affirmative action or granting employment, contracting or
education on the basis of race or gender (372) 1 by having the secretary of labor to authorize a
compliance of hiring reports, effectively forcing the hiring of minorities. Next, Nixon would further
expand the power of the presidency through impoundments, or not spending money that has been
appropriated thought congress. Unlike Nixon s predecessors, he did not use the impounded funds
to funnel back into the economy; instead, he actively tried to sabotage governmental agencies such
as the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) as it did not fit his administrations agenda due to its
liberal agenda and war on poverty (377). 1 In this sense,

.2.2.6 Heartbeat Sensor
The Heartbeat sensor works on the principle of photoplethysmography which is a method of not
invading the body for measuring heartbeat. It provides a simple way to obtain the function of the
heart. The heartbeats can be measured based on the principle of psycho physiological signal
which is used as a stimulus for the virtual reality system. The blood flow in the finger changes
every instant. The sensor shines a small very bright LED through the clip and measures the light
that gets transmitted to the Light Dependent Resistor. The signal firstly gets amplified after which
it is inverted and filtered. In order to calculate the heart rate based on the blood that flows to the
fingertip, the sensor is connected to a LM358 OP AMP for observing the heartbeat pulses. The
module gives a direct output digital signal when connected to a microcontroller. It is compact in

One Hunahph s head is placed in the fork of a Calabash tree and his body is buried with his

Risk Management At Rio Olympics 2016 Essay
Abstract
Brazilians welcomed the long awaited decision of making Rio de Janeiro the host of the 2016
Olympic Games with tremendous excitement. Although Rio s fantastic natural beauty added to its
attraction in hosting the games, its alarming rates of public health and security issues immediately
triggered worldwide criticism. This makes the stakes very high when hosting the Olympic Games.
This paper examines the process of risk assessment and risk response in relation Rio Olympics
2016. The paper explores the consensus that Brazilians will be more equipped to address actions
taken by organized crime capable of affecting the Olympic Games than to face a terrorist attack.
The paper further explores criticisms and assesses Rio s ability to prepare for this important event.

transformation in her writing. As a woman writer in a male dominated society, Rich begins writing
in the traditional style, quot;the man s way, quot; but as she continues writing, Rich breaks from

Rich s tone in the poem is observant and she makes it clear that she does not want to live a life like
Aunt Jennifer s. In the poem Rich makes Aunt Jennifer distinct from herself by placing Aunt
Jennifer into a different generation, breaking any connection between the author and the character.
Rich s writing structure in this poem contains the real life within the fantasy life. The first stanza of
the poem is about the proud tigers. The second stanza is about terrified Aunt Jennifer. The third
stanza refers to the continuation of the second stanza and then to the tigers. In this way, by starting
the poem with the tigers and ending with the tigers, Rich is containing the real life within the
fantasy, in reverse of Aunt Jennifer, whose inner life is contained within her outer life. In this poem
Rich portrays what can happen to an individual who accepts the fate prescribed by custom. The
overall message is that men suppress women.
quot;Snapshots of a Daughter in Law quot; was written when Rich was experiencing herself as a
woman. During this time, society believed that women were put on this earth to make a family
and take care of them. During this time in Rich s life, she was very occupied with being a wife
and a mother; because of this she did not have time to think or write. She wrote this poem in
fragments of time, while her children were taking naps.

This book was not an overwhelmingly great read and the series itself isn t one I would ever

was every science fiction cliche written in a mere 376 pages. Not only was the storyline
somewhat irrelevant to the books before it, the ending was disappointing and seemed like a lazy
way out. There was no real substance to the ending as the chapter portion of the book ended with
Kyra and Tyler about to die before it skipped to the epilogue where everything was fine in an
alternate universe with little explanation as to how. As this series was my first real experience

finishing them were unmet. Nonetheless, for anyone looking for a cheesy sci fi book, The Taking

Essay Managing Employee Retention and Turnover
Managing Employee Retention and Turnover
Employee retention has always been an important focus for human resource managers. Once a
company has invested time and money to recruit and train a good employee, it is in their own best
interest to retain that employee, to further develop and motivate him so that he continues to provide
value to the organization. But, employers must also recognize and tend to what is in the best
interest of their employees, if they intend to keep them. When a company overlooks the needs of its
employees and focuses only on the needs of the organization, turnover often results. Excessive
turnover in an organization is a prime indicator that something is not right in the employee

A recent survey by The Society for Human Resource Management ranked tuition reimbursement
programs and vacation/holiday time as the top two retention initiatives being offered by
employers. In addition, instant recognition programs, such as spot bonuses, are being used to
reward excellence in performance as it occurs. Such programs give employees immediate
gratification for their efforts rather than delaying it until annual reviews. Also, flexible work hours
and telecommuting programs that allow employees to better balance their work commitments
with their family duties are becoming more common. According to Ceridian Employer Services
(2004), 90 percent of companies with more than 5,000 employees allow telecommuting.... And ...
52 percent of large companies use virtual teams. Organizations must continually search for
innovative ways to retain their best employees. Fortunately, the costs of these efforts are low in
comparison to the high costs of turnover. Turnover of employees can be involuntary or voluntary.
When a company lets go of an employee who has been a bad performer, has violated company
policy, or broken a law it is usually considered involuntary turnover. So are layoffs. More often we
speak of turnover in the context of being voluntary, or the unplanned loss of employees who leave

from an outlawed and persecuted religion to a well organized and powerful ruling body in the
western world. After the death of Jesus of Nazareth his disciples begin to spread his teachings of
love and salvation through a single God. However, early Christians quickly became seen as a
threat to the most powerful Empire at the time; Rome. Being monotheistic they refused to offer
sacrifice to state ran cults and as pacifist they refused to join the army. The Roman Empires power
laid in both the military and taxation so early Christians became the targets of persecution. In 64
CE Rome declares Christianityillegal and it remained so for almost three hundred years. However,
Christianity doesn t die and when Emperor Constantine made Christianity legal with the Edict of
Milan 313 the church grew quickly. Later Emperor Theodosius declares Catholic Christianity the
official religion of Rome and bans paganism. From here the Catholic Churchgrew in power and
influence becoming the single most powerful institution the western world. Socially it controlled
the everyday lives of people and played a major role in the governing of those same people.
Institutionally the church was well organized and based on hierarchy operating like an empire
similar to the one that tried to destroy it early in its history. Thanks to this the church also wielded
tremendous governing power. However, this all changed

The Idea Of Mass Customisation
The Idea of Mass Customisation Over the last 25 years, it has become harder to satisfy customer
demand from inventory and thus making the cost of keeping inventory more expensive. This
becomes a problem as new products cannot be produced until the old products have been sold,
usually at huge discounts (Anderson, 2014). Therefore, many companies are forced to customize
products, to some degree, for increasingly selective customers or to compete in niche markets
(Anderson, 2014). However, introducing these customized products into a mass production
manufacturing approach is complex and creates high costs of variety. Cost of variety defined by
McGraw Hill, 1997, includes the actual costs of customizing or configuring products, all the set up

al., 2001). Mass customisation refers to the ability to provide customized products or services
through flexible processes in high volumes (Silvera et.al., 2001) and at a cost near that of mass
produced items (Hart, 1995, Kay, 1993, Kotha, 1995, Ross, 1996, Joneja and Lee, 1998). Mass
customization also implies that the same large number of customers can be reached as in mass
markets of the industrial economy and simultaneously they can be treated individually as in the
customised markets of preindustrial economies. (Davis 1987:169) However, the implementation of
mass customisation into the current systems leads to the existence of two main challenges of time
and cost (Eastwood, 1996), which can be overcome by the following success factors. Customer
demand for variety and customization must exist (Silvera et. al., 2001). The demand for variety and
customization will determine how much customers are willing to pay and wait for delivery of most
customized products (Kotha, 1996, Hart, 1996). Since customization means the customer may gain
an increment of a utility from a product that better fits to his or her needs than the best standard
product available (Chamberlin, 1962), there is an increased willingness of customers paying more
for the customized product. Pine (1993) has stated that customization increases customer
satisfaction thus

Reformation Of Public Education In The Age Of Reform
One of the many changes in the Age of Reform was the reformation of public education. The first
schools were built for religious purposes, but during this reformation period, the reformers wanted
better schools to make sure that the future voters would be informed. Also, these schools would
help immigrants become part of the culture of American society. Massachusetts was the first state
to set up public schools, schools paid by taxes, and this was also the first state to have compulsory
education. This is where children had to go to schooluntil a certain age. Reformers like Horace
Mann changed many aspects to the schools in Massachusetts. He created colleges to train teachers,
raised the salaries of the teachers, and he lengthened the school

What is the most fearful emotion? That is emotionless. What is the most troubled thing? That is
nothing. What will you feel after experiencing so much crazy murder and facing unreasonable
death? In Hemingway s A Clean, Well lighted Place , he shows us the loneliness, isolation,
meaningless, death and futility of modern life those poor survivors of the world war one are facing
through the description on the three main characters. Using his unique writing skills, Hemingway
describes the character with short, plain and clean language, giving us a deep impression. Setting is

When referring to the detail of old man s suicide, the young waiter says How should I know and
He hung himself with a rope The plain words and short, simple sentences make up the spare
dialogue, indicate the emotionless and empty feeling of nothing in the young waiter s heart.
The old waiter seems to have more sympathy on the old man. He is also more similar to the old
man. He can understand the old man s feeling. The old man stays late at cafГ© and is unwilling
to go home because he is afraid of loneliness and emptiness. His deaf is a symbol that he is
isolated from the world he is living. Being old and useless, he cannot gain the dignity and honor
he values. All he has is money, but he cannot buy confidence he needs most using all his money,
so his life is meaningless. This cannot be understood by the young waiter who pursues money
only. The old waiter, in some way, is a transition period of the young waiter and the old man. He
is older than the young waiter and younger than the old man. He is not young enough and heads
for old age in his life. He can experience and understand all loneliness the old man is experiencing
because he himself feels loneliness, emptiness and meaningless. For example, he understands the
old man s reason for not willing to leave the cafГ©. He stays up because he likes it. He argues for
the old man, You can t tell. He

  • 2. Cyber Criminals, Thieves, And Terrorism Every day, hospitals in the United States and around the world are working long hours in responding to emergencies, attending patients, delivering newborn babies, performing surgeries, and foremost saving lives. Not too long ago, cyberspace has given institutions such as hospitals the tools to accumulate and file as much information and data as possible in this great space of technology, networks, and systems. Information such as patient s information, treatments, machinery, as well as having a better way to have a secure place to store them and have authorization in accessing them. However, such tools had been used as weapons by those who want to have access and possession of such critical information and control by cyber criminals, thieves, and terrorists. Unfortunately, it s not simple to live in a world in which laws can just simply protect institutions that help save lives. Rather, hospitals have fallen as victims of cyberattacks. On the evening of February 5th, at Los Angeles, California, doctors and staff from Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, noticed several technical issues while trying to access the hospital s computer network. The hospital s IT department was notified, and they began their investigation to determine the cause of these issues. However, these issues carried on for approximately a week, which was a frustration for doctors and staff members because they were unable to digitally access patient s medical records and treatments, communication via ... Major kitchen remodeling projects cost anywhere between $40,000 and $80,000, depending on the choice of materials (see Exhibit 2 for details on trends in kitchen remodeling costs). • 9. The Stories Of Cinderella, Snow White, And Sleeping Beauty Most of us grew up watching and reading the stories of Cinderella, Snow White and, Sleeping Beauty all of which were produced by Disney. But what if I told you that the versions you grew up watching and reading are far from the original versions depicted by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, better known as the Brothers Grimm. In their tale of Cinderellathere was no fairy godmother, the step sisters cut off portions of their feet to fit into the slipper and none of the animals talked or sang, but rather plucked out the step sister s eyes as punishment for the mistreatment of Cinderella. • 13. The Importance Of Juvenile Delinquency Juvenile delinquency is an issue that remains troublesome since it is in direct correlation with adult crime. While the age crime curve, which is universal in Western populations remains constant, persistence in terms of criminal behavior seems higher for individuals who start early in life (NIJ, N.A.). Since girls tend to start offending at a younger age, they should receive more attention in terms of prevention but they do not (NIJ, N.A.). Selecting female juvenile delinquencyas an issue since it should receive more attention than it has been granted in the past seems adequate. Girls enter a system that was created by men for men and lacks of appropriate programs and initiatives for a population that requires it. The lack of gender responsive programs and consideration for criminal pathways make this issue important to analyze. In the past, girls have been considered as deviant for a multitude of different aspects, whether it is related to their sexuality, their mental instability or their refusal to adhere to their social roles. We now see a trend where girls commit similar crimethan boys, while they remain less violent, they have expanded in the participation in criminal behavior. Research shows that girls become delinquent for different reasons than boys, but those differences are rarely addressed in the juvenile justice setting. Despite the fact that he and his people had been treated with nothing but fear, hate, and cruelty from white men, he had a great understanding that this same behavior would not solve the issue. You cannot fight fire with fire. Like many other successful revolutions, King knew that love and peaceful protest was the only way anything was going to change for his people. King preached that the only way to make an enemy a friend is through love. Although it may have been very difficult for the majority of black people to choose love over fear when they hadn t received love their entire lives, he strongly encouraged his people to not hate the white man, for it would simply make the problem worse. Unfortunately, for teachers there are a lot of hegemonic assumptions out there regarding the best strategies to deal with classroom management, student teacher relationship, disciplinary actions etc. but for this report I am going to discuss the one which was most evident in my experience during School Placement. According to Kyriacou: A relaxed warm and supportive ethos stems largely from the style and manner of the relationship you establish with the pupils. Being relaxed yourself, and in particular dealing with any pupil misbehaviour calmly helps pupils to relax too. This better enables pupils to develop curiosity and interest in learning activities. As seen by my tutors and cooperating teachers and by myself, which is evident in the peer observation done by my cooperating teacher and in my tutor reports a very good relationship was built up with my students, too good in fact. Her essay consists of poems, which she had written throughout different times in her life, to demonstrate the transformation in her writing. As a woman writer in a male dominated society, Rich begins writing in the traditional style, quot;the man s way, quot; but as she continues writing, Rich breaks from these traditional styles to form her own. In the poem Rich makes Aunt Jennifer distinct from herself by placing Aunt Jennifer into a different generation, breaking any connection between the author and the character. Rich s writing structure in this poem contains the real life within the fantasy life. The first stanza of the poem is about the proud tigers. The second stanza is about terrified Aunt Jennifer. The third stanza refers to the continuation of the second stanza and then to the tigers. In this way, by starting the poem with the tigers and ending with the tigers, Rich is containing the real life within the fantasy, in reverse of Aunt Jennifer, whose inner life is contained within her outer life. There was no real substance to the ending as the chapter portion of the book ended with Kyra and Tyler about to die before it skipped to the epilogue where everything was fine in an alternate universe with little explanation as to how. Once a company has invested time and money to recruit and train a good employee, it is in their own best interest to retain that employee, to further develop and motivate him so that he continues to provide value to the organization. But, employers must also recognize and tend to what is in the best interest of their employees, if they intend to keep them. The Effect Of The Reformation On The Roman Catholic Church The Effect of the Reformation on the Roman Catholic Church The Roman Catholic Church grew from an outlawed and persecuted religion to a well organized and powerful ruling body in the western world. After the death of Jesus of Nazareth his disciples begin to spread his teachings of love and salvation through a single God. However, early Christians quickly became seen as a threat to the most powerful Empire at the time; Rome. Being monotheistic they refused to offer sacrifice to state ran cults and as pacifist they refused to join the army. The Roman Empires power laid in both the military and taxation so early Christians became the targets of persecution. In 64 CE Rome declares Christianityillegal and it remained so for almost three hundred years. However, Christianity doesn t die and when Emperor Constantine made Christianity legal with the Edict of Milan 313 the church grew quickly. Later Emperor Theodosius declares Catholic Christianity the official religion of Rome and bans paganism. The Idea Of Mass Customisation The Idea of Mass Customisation Over the last 25 years, it has become harder to satisfy customer demand from inventory and thus making the cost of keeping inventory more expensive. This becomes a problem as new products cannot be produced until the old products have been sold, usually at huge discounts (Anderson, 2014). Therefore, many companies are forced to customize products, to some degree, for increasingly selective customers or to compete in niche markets (Anderson, 2014). Mass customisation refers to the ability to provide customized products or services through flexible processes in high volumes (Silvera et.al., 2001) and at a cost near that of mass produced items (Hart, 1995, Kay, 1993, Kotha, 1995, Ross, 1996, Joneja and Lee, 1998). Mass customization also implies that the same large number of customers can be reached as in mass markets of the industrial economy and simultaneously they can be treated individually as in the customised markets of preindustrial economies. (Davis 1987:169) However, the implementation of mass customisation into the current systems leads to the existence of two main challenges of time and cost (Eastwood, 1996), which can be overcome by the following success factors. Customer demand for variety and customization must exist (Silvera et. al., 2001). The demand for variety and customization will determine how much customers are willing to pay and wait for delivery of most customized products (Kotha, 1996, Hart, 1996). Since customization means the customer may gain an increment of a utility from a product that better fits to his or her needs than the best standard product available (Chamberlin, 1962), there is an increased willingness of customers paying more for the customized product.
