Information Systems For International Students
Since all of us in our group are international students and a few of us are in our first semester at
Swinburne, it was almost impossible for us to find an Information Systems Manager and would like to
thank Jason for leading us to Mr. Mim Saznus. We understand that we are required to draw a direct
correlation between what we ve learnt in lectures and textbooks and see if we could relate it to
challenges that Information Systems Managers face in the real world or see how much of a gap we
have between what we learn and what actually happens in the corporate world. We would like to
extrapolate inputs received from Mim during the interview in our research report and build on the
points that he has made.
Mr. Saznus was gracious enough to spare some time for an interview and we had a few great learnings
and insights into the Information Systems space. He isn t an Information Systems Manager however
has spent over 6 years in multiple industries very closely related to Information Systems and
Information Technology. Mim completed his Masters in Information Technology with a specialization
in Information Systems from our very own Swinburne University and is originally from Bangladesh.
He started his journey in the Information Technology space by working as a Solutions Analyst for the
largest telecommunications equipment maker in the world, Huawei Technologies for over 2 years and
then went on to pursue his Masters in Swinburne University. He was also a part of an internship

New Ideas And Innovation Within The Company
Discover card is always about promoting new ideas and innovation within the company that like to
hear feedback from employees on suggestion and tips to how to make daily work life easier. Every
year each employees must submit an intrapreneurship which is the process of promoting innovation
within the structure of an existing organization. Discover makes is easy they set up internal website
that employees go to submit their idea. Discover then follow up with the process if proceed to go
father with the idea or need so clarify information on the innovative idea. On the website also displays
the progress on the Intrapreneurship and whether or not the idea was already submitted. If a person
already submitted the same idea to the company it would have a red check next to the idea, but if it
has a green check next the idea it was the first time that idea was submitted to the company. The
average time the idea to be processed for an approval can take up 6 months depending on the
necessary step to making sure that the idea benefit all employees that will be use it. According to
Successful innovation depends upon effective communication of the business value of innovation. Yet
different stages of the innovation process require different communication strategies. Companies who
have recognized the different elements of the innovation process are able to target their
communication mechanisms to achieve the best results from organizational innovation. When our card

Walmart And Macy s Retail Stores
The two retail stores I have selected are JCPenny and Macy s. These two retail stores can be found
together at many malls. For example, Westfield South Shore Mall in Bayshore on Long Island
contains both JCPenny and Macy s. Although they are not directly next to each other they are most
certainly competitors. They contain many of the same brands however they both have a different
approach to how they display the brand. I focused on Levi s for men and within the Levi s department
there was other garments and accessories other than jeans. The assortment in JCPenny was clearly
superior. Other than jeans they had long sleeves, graphic long sleeves, flannels, winter jackets, denim
jackets, socks, underwear, belts, and a variety of hats. Every section was well stocked and had
numerous different sizes. In addition every style was placed on its correct rack or shelf. Macy s on the
other hand, was very unorganized. It was quite hard to determine what style I was looking at because
nothing was where it belonged and there was pile of pants just thrown onto display tables. However
they did have a small selection of ski hats, very few belts, underwear, thermals, and winter jackets.
The only thing that seemed fully stocked was the men s underwear however I was only able to reach
from the side because there was a cart blocking my reach. The cart was stocked with various different
styles and colors of jeans that were just left there. The layout in JCPenny was much more appealing

Essay On Dielectric Materials At C-Nanowires
Flexible nanodielectric materials with a high dielectric constant and low dielectric loss have immense
potential applications in the modern electronic and electric industry. The use of high aspect ratio fillers
is a promising route for achieving high dielectric constant and low loss materials at a low filler volume
fraction. However, the poor filler/matrix interfacial adhesion always imposes difficulties in
suppressing the dielectric loss of the composites, thus significantly limiting the potential of high
aspect ratio fillers in enhancing the dielectric constant of polymer composites. In this study, cable like
structured Ag@C nanowires with high aspect ratio ( 600) were prepared by a facile and
environmentally friendly approach. Because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Compared to conventional ceramic based dielectric materials, polymer composites have many
advantages such as good flexibility, easy processability, lightweight, and low cost to meet demands for
miniaturization of microelectronics that has become a mainstream trend in microelectronic industry in
recent years. Thus, flexible polymer composites with a high dielectric constant and low dielectric loss
are highly desired and essential for practical application. In recent years, polymer composites with
dielectric constant have been prepared by two routes. The more traditional route is introducing high
dielectric constant ceramic fillers, such as BaTiO3, Pb(Zr,Ti)O3, and CaCu3Ti4O12 into the polymer
matrix. However, the high loading (usually over 50 vol%) of ceramic fillers required for enhancing
dielectric constant inevitably raises the issues of inhomogeneity and aggregation of the ceramic fillers
in the polymer matrix, deteriorating the characteristics resulting in poor mechanical properties such as
high dielectric loss. Furthermore, the dielectric enhancement is usually low. Another route focuses on
dispersing conductive fillers such as graphene, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), conductive fibers, and metal
particles into the polymer matrix to achieve percolative systems. As the volume fraction of the
conductive fillers increases in the vicinity of the percolation threshold, where the conductive fillers
connect with each other to form a continuous conducting path, the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of TNT Mineralization
Aerobic TNT biotransformation by bacteria has been exensively researched and leads to the reduction
of 1 or 2 nitro groups. Many studies have proved that many isomers of amino nitro aromatic
compounds such as hydroxyl aminodinitrotoluenes (HADNT), amino dinitrotoluenes (ADNT),
diamino nitrotoluenes (DANT), dinitroaniline (DNA), and polynuclear condensation products like
azoxytoluenes are the aerobic partially reduced products of TNT known to be recalcitrant and
accumulate in the environment without further mineralization (Heiss and Knackmuss 2002, Robertson
and Jjemba 2005, Ziganshin et al. 2010, Moshe et al. 2012, Khan et al. 2013). They present a serious

2013). Previous studies conducted on Phanerochaete chrysosporium proved that the TNT
mineralization to CO2 is approximately at 35% (Fernando et al. 1990), demonstrating that the
evolution of CO2 was a result of oxidation and cleavage of aromatic ring by lignin peroxidase enzyme
(lignolytic activity). However, this activity was inhibited by the accumulation of 4 ADNT (Michels
and Gottschalk 1995) although in another study it was proved that this inhibition was due to the 4
HADNT (Michels and Gottschalk 1995). Both NAD(P)H dependent nitroreductase and lignin
peroxidase enzymes are non specific (Press 2001, Khan et al. 2013) and they are very important in
TNT degradation and removal from contaminated environment. It seems that there is a little
knowledge about the physiology of these enzymes and therefore a deep researches in that area can
significantly contribute to the existing knowledge and improve the current bioremendiation
technologies towards the complete removal of TNT from the

Pteropod Essay
Pteropods are shelled animals about the dimension a small pea that are consumed by several animals
of almost every size which range from krill to dolphins. Pteropods are at the bottom of many food
chains and a decrease in their numbers can possibly destroy the chances of survival of multiple species
and not only those of the ocean. However, these small creatures are challenged by the accelerating
ocean acidification and thus, their shell formation hampered due to the deficiency of free calcium
carbonate. Several research on pteropod indicates that growth rate and calcification of shelled
pteropods decline with ocean acidification (Busch D.S. et al. 2014; Comeau S. et al. 2009). In an

pteropods (Johnson K.M. et al 2016; Bednaršek N. et al 2014; Busch D.S. et al. 2014). Lischka S. et al
(2012) reported that the aragonite saturation state 0.3 resulted in the reduced survival rate in
pteropods. Along with survival, growth and a biochemical functions impairment also reported due the
negative effect of ocean acidification (Lischka S. et al. 2011; Hoshijima U. et al 2017). Echinoderms:

utilized for food (Micael et al. 2009). Calcified echinoderms have the existence of an internal skeleton

My Journey With And Through Sldp R
My Journey with and through SLDP R I will never forget my enrollment meeting for SLDP R; I didn t
think I could hear it enough SLDP is an opportunity, not a punishment. I didn t question this notion,
but I don t think I really understood it either. Over a year later I can say that I do understand. I will be
the first person to tell anyone how much SLDP allowed me to evolve through self discovery and
reflection. I am so much more in touch with myself, where I started, where I have come to, and where
I need to go from here. I learned so much about the prestige of being in the Army. Dawning this
uniform every day comes with significant weight. This isn t limited in scope to General Officers, or
those in public relations it extends to every member of the organization. Everything you do is
reflective of the Army, directly or indirectly and by being unprofessional you are compromising the
trust the organization has put in you. It is important to remain cognizant of the fact that regardless of
who we are with or where we are we bear the burden of being an ambassador of the Army and each of
its values. Coming into SLDP my biggest issue was succumbence to external pressure. It is so
important for every individual to have deeply rooted, unwavering values I didn t have this. I wasn t
fully committed to the process of molding myself into someone worthy of being a US Army Officer. I

Gender Stereotypes In The Rocky Horror Picture Show
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is not so much a movie as more of a long running social phenomenon
(Ebert). The interpretation of the film, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which was produced in 1975,
opens the curtains to the cross on top of a church after being introduced to the characters by the huge,
bright red lips. Promptly after the introduction the camera moves in a sensational gesture towards a
just married couple that is walking to the front of the church with their wedding guests, carrying the
traditional wedding ceremony of throwing the newly brides bouquet. The visual that is taken in this
scene seems to be vital to the aspect behind the film, as it is showing how dull a wedding that carries
the same tradition can be, especially since it is being related to the following scene at the castle of Dr.
Frank n Furter. With the proximity of the heterosexual traditions and the events at the mansion, it is
obvious this film is meant to draw into question the common gender stereotypes along with sexuality.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show validates that gender roles and stereotypes are socially constructed
and that there should not be any social stigma attached to personalities that cannot easily be identified
as a male or female by using irony, the use of social practice, and more specifically through Dr. Fran n
Furter s character.
Even with an unbiased reading of the production, it is obvious that The Rocky Horror Picture Show
does in fact speak on the social issue of

The Economic Growth And Development Of A Country
Over the years, there has been much debate over whether the state plays a role in the economic growth
and development of a country. Some believe that the state is essential, arguing that its intervention
promotes investment, mobilizes industry and capital, and creates jobs. Some view it as an obstacle,
claiming that its role should be deregulated and reduced because its involvement can lead to market
distortions and corruption. Some do not like either argument, declaring that the state is less important
compared to other factors in determining the development trajectory of a country. These factors
include geography, ethnic diversity, conflict, and political institution. I believe that the last position is
the strongest; while the state does play an important role in growth, it is not the most important. I
believe that the political institution a country operates under is more significant to dissecting this
relationship than the intervention of the state. First off, what are the arguments in favor of the
correlation between the state and economic development? One argument is that the state provides
structure and order, which in turn reassures domestic and foreign investors, giving them an incentive
to invest. A state provides order by controlling violence, as told by Robert Bates in The Formation of
States. Bates describes how the rise in prosperity in 14th and 15th century Europe led to an increase in
violence and conflict. As the value of agricultural land and its

The Effect Of Temperature On Membrane Permeability
The objective and the main purpose of this experiment were to determine the effects of temperature on
membrane permeability. Physical treatment on membrane permeability with its effects on the basis of
the known chemical composition of the membrane was investigated. The major result of this
experiment was the maximum membrane permeability was determined by the maximum absorbance
value. Also the membrane becomes more permeable at higher temperature, which was the expected
result considering the fact that the protein denatured at higher temperature and phospholipid became
less stable because its shape and structure changed. As figure.1 states the result of this experiment as
temperature increases, the mean absorbance value increases as well (Reece et al., 2014).
All of phospholipid bilayers, proteins and carbohydrates together constitute the biological membrane.
Each of these members of biological membrane has separate individual task. The task of phospholipid
bilayer is to make up the cell membrane. Phospholipids are made up of two fatty acids and long chain
of hydrogen and carbon, which are, attach to glycerol head. The glycerol molecule is also attached to
phosphate group and this is the hydrophilic part of the molecule. The tail ends on the fatty acid chain,
opposite the glycerol are hydrophobic part of the molecule. The phospholipid releases a barrier to
prevent the passage from chemical and waste products. The most important function for phospholipid
is to form a

(McRobbie and Thornton 1995:559). Cosgrove (1989) however suggests that the press took some time
to discover rave culture. Collin (1997) suggests that when it was initially covered by The Sun in
August 1988, reports were largely positive, endorsed as the latest dance craze, with the paper even
marketing its own smiley face logo T shirts. Hostility quickly ensued however after two deaths from
ecstasy in June and October followed by a police drugs raid on a boat party in November. By
September 1988 the ritualised sequence of moral panic exaggerated press reports, misleading
headlines, self appointed moral spokesmen demanding action and weekend on weekend of police raids
was unfolding (Collin 1997:90). A Daily Mail editorial (26th June 1989) claimed that Acid House is a
façade for dealing in drugs of the worst sort on a massive scale and a cynical attempt to trap young
people into drug dependency under the guise of friendly pop music events . (cited in Collin 1997:97).
However, as with all moral panics the media s and therefore the public s fears had a relatively short
lifespan (Cohen 1972; McRobbie and Thornton 1995). As raves began move into the confines of
nightclubs media attention began to fade and even occasional deaths were reported as isolated
incidents.

Summary Of Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets
The book I read was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, written by J.K. Rowling. The story
takes place at Hogwarts, a school of witchcraft and wizardry. Harry Potter is a student at Hogwarts,
and Ron and Hermione are his best friends. The main focus was a secret chamber hidden in the school,
that has been opened and was opened years before. There were attacks on the students by a basilisk
snake, which was put there by an evil wizard named Voldemort. Harry, Ron, and Hermione kept
searching for clues to find out how the attacks were happening until they were lead right to the answer.
Over all, the book was a good story and was very exciting and creative. The story begins when Dobby,
a small house elf, warns Harry about something bad in Hogwarts. Something bad did happen. It was
the chamber. It was being opened and attacks were coming from it. Harry was trying to figure out who
was planning the attacks, what was in the chamber, and who opened it. Harry, Hermione, and Ron
made assumptions about who opened it before, and tried to figure out who it was by making potions,
spying, and talking to different people about it. They often met in the girls prefects bathroom to talk.
Once when they were in there making a potion to get ideas out of people, they came across a magical
diary by a person named Tom Riddle. Harry figured out how to work the magic diary and was told that
his friend Poole2 and the professor of magical creatures, Hagrid opened the chamber before, but the

Pride has many benefits and many downfalls. Many qualities of pride can be beneficial, to be proud of
family or friends can be uplifting and can form strong bonds. But pride can also mask genuine human
emotions; stop those who feel pride from showing vulnerability, or weakness. The qualities of pride
itself can be complex and inconceivable, like many human qualities. Each particular emotion has
diverse and opposite effects, pride for example can be a word used to describe utter happiness and
fulfillment, while others can use pride to close themselves off. In the book Stone Angel, written by the
well known author Margaret Laurence, pride is often portrayed as a negative quality. It is used as a

The The Song Of Roland
The lives of knights depicted in the The Song of Roland are a demonstration of the fierce warriorship,
aggressiveness, and deep faith of French Knights. A code of chivalry or gallantry existed among these
men. At the top of this code of conduct were the highly regarded virtues of honor, faithfulness,
courage, compassion, truth, and obedience. Noble knights prized the wares of their trade, such as fine
warhorses, armory, battle skills, and fine regalia. In this epic poem, Roland and the other Knights
show great obedience to their liege, King Charles. Roland volunteers for tough missions like leading
the rear guard as the army made its way thru the Pyrenees Mountains. He promised the King that

Knights were dedicated to their God and Church. These brave men truly believed that even though the
battle was not always in their favor, God is the only one who could overcome the odds. Victories are
God s way of showing he approves of the knights mission. All things happen because God knows it
will happen. Roland follows his lord and his God with complete faithfulness. His whole sense of what
a Christian knight must do is nearest to what pleases God, for it comes from God. Many of the poems
passages tell of the knights individual courage and their battle prowess. It seemed as though God was
willing each of the French blows to be lethal and the Pagans blows to miss their mark. The warriors
fought bravely no matter what the odds. They were not afraid to lead or make tactical decisions. They
valued good judgment. At one point, Oliver questions whether Roland made a good decision not to
call the army. At the end of the battle, as Roland lay dying, he also questioned his decision not to blow
the Oliphant to alert King Charles Army. The poem notes that the idea of service to all is the same as
service to the King. In the trial of Ganelon, they first see France as their complete realm of unity. They
value their homes, families, and country. Ganelon s treason was a threat to their France. The pagans do
not identify that closely as a country. Good knights show compassion for their comrades and enemies

come about if we are having a gaming laptop, rather than having any kind of common laptop. Like we
can see in our daily life, people who likely or tend to play games commonly have a desire to own a
gaming laptop, since gaming laptop could runs various updated programs that common laptop doesn t
do it as best as gaming laptop, Phil discussed. Besides that, Phil Reusch also pointed more about its
negative effects about having those gaming laptops. This article probably focused more to the persons
who are about to have gaming laptop, however it is still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance is that the battery couldn t last so long and it is insignificant because it runs to many
complex and various program, not that only common program that usual laptop does, but in gaming
laptop it rather needs high end resolution which make the gaming laptop program need to runs more
and thus it needs more energy. But here in the article Phil said, because of the fairly worthless battery
life, we ll be stuck near a plug. I quiet disagree with it since even if we need a plug, how far the plug
would it be since the cable will be long enough to reach. Different condition if we are talking about
somewhere with no plug. That s quiet cranky too since will we really going to play games even in
places with no plug? We can easily imagine how those place condition is and I assumed it is totally
impossible to busy ourselves by playing games. Then in other side, Phil discussed about the weight
which is making more burden. I agree with this since in fact the program and the hardware itself are
much thicker than usual laptop. This is also a problem for anyone who about to carry it everywhere
they go. And yes, not only its laptop we re going to carry, but also it s complementary; like battery
charger, mouse, disc, and other accessories like headset incase. The other disadvantage is

Vivian Schweigert Analysis
Drew Schweigert Mr. De Jong The Art of Language The Little Danish Girl: Vivian Schweigert
Hometown My Grandma lived in a town called Narup, Denmark. This is where she lived until second

school year round. Not year round like we do, year round like only get six weeks of in summer and no
other breaks. But, you also graduate when you are sixteen. Then you find out what you want to do by
that point. Although, my grandma didn t live in Denmark when she was 16. Discipline My grandma

Frida Kahlo Influences
Friday Kahlo was a Mexican painter born in 1907. She achieved great international popularity and her
use of vibrant colours in many of her works was influenced by indigenous cultures of Mexico as well
as Realism, Symbolism and Surrealism. At the age of eighteen, Kahlo was involved in a violent bus
accident, damaging her spine and marking her life with chronic pain, infertility and health problems.
In Frida Kahlo s paintings the physical and emotional pain of these injuries transcend from the canvas.

Essay about The Language of Romeo and Juliet in the...
The Language of Romeo and Juliet in the Balcony Scene
Act II Scene 2 is one of the most famous scenes of
Shakespeare s play, Romeo and Juliet. It is
commonly known as the Balcony Scene because Juliet appears on a small
balcony outside her bedroom window, and exchanges words, expresses true
love with Romeo who is standing below in her father s orchard. The scene is
famous for its moving and vivid images, used to express love between two
people of contrasting nature. In my study I will compare the language of
Romeo and Juliet in this famous scene.
The balcony scene is physically separate from the rest of the play
by being set in a moonlit garden. The lovers exist outside the ... Show more content on

Previously when Romeo was in love with Rosaline he always
sad, depressed and associated her with darkness. When Romeo uses light
imagery it stands in contrast to the imagery of darkness used earlier and
shows how powerful and true his love is for Juliet. His love for Juliet
kills the sick love and gives new life with its radiance.
Two of the fairest stars in all heaven having some business, do entreat
her eyes To twinkle in their spheres ... That birds would sing and think it
were not night.
Here Romeo describes Juliet s eyes as stars and not just any stars but the
fairest stars in the heaven. He also says that her cheeks would be so
bright and full of light that the surrounding stars would feel ashamed, and
the brightness of her eyes would make the birds on earth think that its day
time. Romeo here exaggerates Juliet s beauty to a great extent.
Later, he speaks of her as a bright angel who, as a winged
messenger of heaven , is far above ordinary mortals on earth. Unlike
Rosaline, Juliet is not compared to a pagan goddess. Romeo s and Juliet s
speeches are full of the religious register. Juliet uses the religious
register when she says

Declaration Of Freedom
Happy Fourth! Brief on the Declaration of God over the USA! What is freedom? Except that which is
granted to us by the most high God, our freedom is constrained by the powers of men. On July 4th,
1776 an idea was born that free men were not to be under the control of a tyrannical government and
thus birthed the idea that created a nation. What is often not talked about was how did these colonists
formulate their freedom if they were the loyal subjects of his majesty the King? The freedom that
existed within these Men was one that no King is granted Authority over, no instead, our freedom is
granted to us by The King of Kings, Lord of Lords! Our writ of freedom signed with the Blood of
Jesus Christ Crucified for our sins, our Government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Is it because our forefathers declared independence from one of the greatest nations of the World? I
would argue that Independence Day should be celebrated as a reminder to all who believe that we
declare our independence from the world as Members of Gods kingdom. We declare that our freedom
is granted by the Son of God who died for us. We can never forget that being in fellowship of the Son
means rejection of the world. Our forefathers understood that no man can control Gods Creation. So
we must remember that this nation of the World is just that, of the World....... Pray for the morality of
America, the immediate halt of secularism and the pledge of Allegiance to he that controls the wealth
of worlds. In this time of trouble remember, freedom is lost to those who lose hope. My hope comes
from the Lord and can never be Lost for God the Father is my strength, is my shield; he loves me and
he will never forsake me! God Bless the USA, God Bless this nation of disobedient children, God
Bless the Churches holding the candle in these End Times, God Bless those who will fight the battle
for eternal freedom. Together we can say, In Order to form a more perfect union, We the People of
Gods kingdom do solemnly declare that there is no other Gods before us, that there is no other Love
greater than one who dies for his friends, and that God Loves all of us even to the death of his Son!
We a grateful, we are thankful, We Praise You God! We Praise Your Glorious Name forever and ever

Review Of Oh Hockey, Medicare And Canadian Dreams By...
Stephen J. Troope speaks to many everyday Canadians in his writing Oh Hockey, Medicare and
Canadian Dreams. He explains how current Canadian defining features such as hockey and medical
programs fail to best characterize the country and its future directions. Troope clearly advocates for a
culture change of many Canadians to celebrate other features of Canada rather than the mundane
stereotypes that inadequately symbolize true values. Troope explores many of the future possibilities
that lies ahead for Canada. Through an underlying moral cause, Troope fails to form a very effective
critique through his lack of credibility, misuse of ethical appeals, and a confusing inadequate ending.
The work begins warning of a stormy future , suggesting defining features of hockey and Medicare are
poor representations of Canadians. Proceeding to suggest we need to grow up and rely less on the
United States and United Kingdom, describing Canadians as gentler versions of Americans . Troope
then goes on to praise the country for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

beloved national sport: a hockey that has re found its connection to people more than dollars...that

a less barbaric version of hockey, Troope attempts to find common ground through shared values of
health and decency. However, in doing so makes vast generalizations and overstatements about
important parts of Canadian sports culture. This failed emotional fallacy attempts to manipulate many
readers using slanted language characterizing hockey as sacrificing well being. Further, comparing
hockey to ultimate fighting falsely links the two through an unfair analogy because the sports are very

The Rise Of Sustainable Design
Introduction
Sustainability, today s buzz word that has gained popularity as more people have become aware of its
importance, can be seen in the designed sites that function in harmony with the landscape and natural
systems. The rise of sustainable design can be contributed to the advocacy of environmentalism
through organizations and increase of designers with environmental philosophies. Michael Manfredi
and Marion Weiss are examples of such designers, bringing sustainable design to the public realm.
Influenced by their social and cultural experiences, Weiss and Manfredi bring together the
architectural and the natural. One of their best examples of this is Brooklyn s Botanical Garden Visitor
Center, which serves as an interface between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In figure 1 you can see the visitor center s lines and shapes, which help guide the visitor from the
street into the various sectors of the garden. Light is feature key to the site s form. The visitor center s
many windows allow light to be important in creating its form. The large use windows also lessen the
dependence on electricity use for artificial lighting, maximizing natural illumination. The curved glass
walls of the center s gallery are a mediating surface between the building and the landscape . The
visitor center s white color gives it a modern and sleek aesthetic. Another major component of the site
is its asymmetry, adding to its sinuous organic form. The center s spatial elements create a nuanced
progression of outdoor, indoor, and covered spaces , which keeps a strong connection between the
outdoors and indoors. The visitor center also contains recycled material and salvaged materials from
the trees that were cut down for construction. These elements are key to the visitor center s form and
can be seen throughout Weiss and Manfredi s designs.
Today, the importance of sustainability has spread into design. This is apparent in the Botanical
Garden s visitor center. The center s placement between the urban and natural landscape represents
today s new movement in sustainability, which no longer has the urban and the natural separated or
merely juxtaposed but integrated into each other, coming from the concept of rus in urbe . The

Lab Report Miscible Liquid Water And 1-Propanol
Introduction The lab was a distillation lab that involved 2 miscible liquids, water and 1 propanol in a
50% volume per volume mixture. These two solutions created an azeotrope where the two liquids
have a constant boiling point throughout the distillation. The method used to distill the 1 propanol was
fractional distillation, this involved packed fractionating columns that were attached to a distilling
flask, when the hot vapour hit the cold packaging, the Liebig condenser, it was condensed. This was
repeated many times so the final solution condensed was most likely pure 1 propanol. This is called
refluxing, where the liquid is condensed and returned to liquid. [1]
There are many real life applications of distillation that are used everyday, ... Show more content on

As soon as there wasn t enough 1 propanol the boiling point shot up to 93°C. In this case the solution
of water and 1 propanol acted as ideal liquids where the lower boiling point liquid distilled first and
then the higher boiling point liquid. There also was a minimum and maximum boiling point observed.
This distillation method is quite efficient, this was determined by calculating the percent error for the
experiment (shown in the appendix). A 5.34% error is very low, this means that 95% of what is
theoretically possible to distill from this mixture was actually collected when performing the
experiment. The apparatus used for the distillation involved having the thermometer in a silicone
pocket. This is due to the fact that silicone improves thermal conductivity rather than just having the
thermometer in the air or in the mixture of water and propanol. Silicone has a thermal conductivity of
0.1 compared to 0.58 of water [4]. The optimal drop rate was at 15 20 drops per minute, if the drop
rate was lower the lab would take a long time to complete, which is very inefficient. However, a
higher drop rate would increase the possibility of missing the boiling point change. Boiling chips were
added to the round bottom flask, their purpose was to ensure the mixture boils smoothly so the
solution doesn t get superheated or boil

Use of Polarization in Goodbye, Mr. Chips Essay
Use of Polarization in Goodbye, Mr. Chips
Opposites attract. James Hilton uses this fact in Goodbye, Mr. Chips to create tension in the story;
however, he makes greater use of this polarization to develop the character of Chips. Mr. Chips and
Katherine Bridges may be viewed not only as opposites but also as arguments. Hilton uses thesis in
the form of young Chips and antithesis in the form of Katherine Bridges to arrive at synthesis, the
personality and character of the mature schoolmaster.
Hilton portrays young Chips as lacking in confidence. During an interview, Chips, a schoolteacher in

At forty, Chips considers himself rooted, settled, and quite happy (11).
When Chips is forty eight, an age at which permanence of habits begins to be predictable, Hilton
introduces Katherine Bridges, a young and unemployed governess, to create tension. While on
summer vacation at Wasdale Head, Chips first sees Katherine waving excitedly from a rocky ledge.
He believes that she is stranded and in need of help. In his attempt to rescue her, Chips finds himself
rescued instead of the rescuer, and neither role is one for which he had much relish (20). Katherine,
who typifies the New Woman of the nineties that Chips abhors, feels responsible for Chips s injury
and visits him daily. At first Chips doesn t know what to do with Katherine: he isn t articulate and
doesn t think it worthwhile to contradict her ideas and opinions, so he just listens to her chatter. Soon
Chips looks forward to the glimpse of her safety bicycle careering along the lakeside road (23).
Katherine likes Chips initially because he was so hard to get to know . . . and because his opinions
dated from those impossible seventies and eighties . . . yet were . . . so thoroughly honest . . . (24).
Chips and Katherine fall in love within a week. Prior to their marriage, Katherine tells Chips that she
believes that schoolmastering is an important calling and that

We understand that we are required to draw a direct correlation between what we ve learnt in lectures and textbooks and see if we could relate it to challenges that Information Systems Managers face in the real world or see how much of a gap we have between what we learn and what actually happens in the corporate world. We would like to extrapolate inputs received from Mim during the interview in our research report and build on the points that he has made. Mr. Saznus was gracious enough to spare some time for an interview and we had a few great learnings and insights into the Information Systems space. He isn t an Information Systems Manager however has spent over 6 years in multiple industries very closely related to Information Systems and Information Technology. Essay On Dielectric Materials At C-Nanowires Flexible nanodielectric materials with a high dielectric constant and low dielectric loss have immense potential applications in the modern electronic and electric industry. The use of high aspect ratio fillers is a promising route for achieving high dielectric constant and low loss materials at a low filler volume fraction. However, the poor filler/matrix interfacial adhesion always imposes difficulties in suppressing the dielectric loss of the composites, thus significantly limiting the potential of high aspect ratio fillers in enhancing the dielectric constant of polymer composites. In this study, cable like structured Ag@C nanowires with high aspect ratio ( 600) were prepared by a facile and environmentally friendly approach. Because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Compared to conventional ceramic based dielectric materials, polymer composites have many advantages such as good flexibility, easy processability, lightweight, and low cost to meet demands for miniaturization of microelectronics that has become a mainstream trend in microelectronic industry in recent years. Thus, flexible polymer composites with a high dielectric constant and low dielectric loss are highly desired and essential for practical application. In recent years, polymer composites with dielectric constant have been prepared by two routes. The more traditional route is introducing high dielectric constant ceramic fillers, such as BaTiO3, Pb(Zr,Ti)O3, and CaCu3Ti4O12 into the polymer matrix. However, the high loading (usually over 50 vol%) of ceramic fillers required for enhancing dielectric constant inevitably raises the issues of inhomogeneity and aggregation of the ceramic fillers in the polymer matrix, deteriorating the characteristics resulting in poor mechanical properties such as high dielectric loss. Furthermore, the dielectric enhancement is usually low. Another route focuses on dispersing conductive fillers such as graphene, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), conductive fibers, and metal particles into the polymer matrix to achieve percolative systems. As the volume fraction of the conductive fillers increases in the vicinity of the percolation threshold, where the conductive fillers connect with each other to form a continuous conducting path, the ... • 14. Gender Stereotypes In The Rocky Horror Picture Show The Rocky Horror Picture Show is not so much a movie as more of a long running social phenomenon (Ebert). The interpretation of the film, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which was produced in 1975, opens the curtains to the cross on top of a church after being introduced to the characters by the huge, bright red lips. Promptly after the introduction the camera moves in a sensational gesture towards a just married couple that is walking to the front of the church with their wedding guests, carrying the traditional wedding ceremony of throwing the newly brides bouquet. The visual that is taken in this scene seems to be vital to the aspect behind the film, as it is showing how dull a wedding that carries the same tradition can be, especially since it is being related to the following scene at the castle of Dr. Frank n Furter. With the proximity of the heterosexual traditions and the events at the mansion, it is obvious this film is meant to draw into question the common gender stereotypes along with sexuality. The Rocky Horror Picture Show validates that gender roles and stereotypes are socially constructed and that there should not be any social stigma attached to personalities that cannot easily be identified as a male or female by using irony, the use of social practice, and more specifically through Dr. Fran n Furter s character. • 15. The Economic Growth And Development Of A Country Over the years, there has been much debate over whether the state plays a role in the economic growth and development of a country. Some believe that the state is essential, arguing that its intervention promotes investment, mobilizes industry and capital, and creates jobs. Some view it as an obstacle, claiming that its role should be deregulated and reduced because its involvement can lead to market distortions and corruption. Some do not like either argument, declaring that the state is less important compared to other factors in determining the development trajectory of a country. These factors include geography, ethnic diversity, conflict, and political institution. I believe that the last position is the strongest; while the state does play an important role in growth, it is not the most important. I believe that the political institution a country operates under is more significant to dissecting this relationship than the intervention of the state. First off, what are the arguments in favor of the correlation between the state and economic development? One argument is that the state provides structure and order, which in turn reassures domestic and foreign investors, giving them an incentive to invest. A state provides order by controlling violence, as told by Robert Bates in The Formation of States. Bates describes how the rise in prosperity in 14th and 15th century Europe led to an increase in violence and conflict. As the value of agricultural land and its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Physical treatment on membrane permeability with its effects on the basis of the known chemical composition of the membrane was investigated. The major result of this experiment was the maximum membrane permeability was determined by the maximum absorbance value. Also the membrane becomes more permeable at higher temperature, which was the expected result considering the fact that the protein denatured at higher temperature and phospholipid became less stable because its shape and structure changed. As figure.1 states the result of this experiment as temperature increases, the mean absorbance value increases as well (Reece et al., 2014). All of phospholipid bilayers, proteins and carbohydrates together constitute the biological membrane. Each of these members of biological membrane has separate individual task. The task of phospholipid bilayer is to make up the cell membrane. Phospholipids are made up of two fatty acids and long chain of hydrogen and carbon, which are, attach to glycerol head. • 30. Review Of Oh Hockey, Medicare And Canadian Dreams By... Stephen J. Troope speaks to many everyday Canadians in his writing Oh Hockey, Medicare and Canadian Dreams. He explains how current Canadian defining features such as hockey and medical programs fail to best characterize the country and its future directions. Troope clearly advocates for a culture change of many Canadians to celebrate other features of Canada rather than the mundane stereotypes that inadequately symbolize true values. Troope explores many of the future possibilities that lies ahead for Canada. Through an underlying moral cause, Troope fails to form a very effective critique through his lack of credibility, misuse of ethical appeals, and a confusing inadequate ending. The work begins warning of a stormy future , suggesting defining features of hockey and Medicare are poor representations of Canadians. Proceeding to suggest we need to grow up and rely less on the United States and United Kingdom, describing Canadians as gentler versions of Americans . • 31. The Rise Of Sustainable Design Introduction Sustainability, today s buzz word that has gained popularity as more people have become aware of its importance, can be seen in the designed sites that function in harmony with the landscape and natural systems. The rise of sustainable design can be contributed to the advocacy of environmentalism through organizations and increase of designers with environmental philosophies. Michael Manfredi and Marion Weiss are examples of such designers, bringing sustainable design to the public realm. Influenced by their social and cultural experiences, Weiss and Manfredi bring together the architectural and the natural. One of their best examples of this is Brooklyn s Botanical Garden Visitor Center, which serves as an interface between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In figure 1 you can see the visitor center s lines and shapes, which help guide the visitor from the street into the various sectors of the garden. Light is feature key to the site s form. The visitor center s many windows allow light to be important in creating its form. The large use windows also lessen the dependence on electricity use for artificial lighting, maximizing natural illumination. The curved glass walls of the center s gallery are a mediating surface between the building and the landscape . The visitor center s white color gives it a modern and sleek aesthetic. Another major component of the site is its asymmetry, adding to its sinuous organic form. The center s spatial elements create a nuanced progression of outdoor, indoor, and covered spaces , which keeps a strong connection between the outdoors and indoors. The visitor center also contains recycled material and salvaged materials from the trees that were cut down for construction. These elements are key to the visitor center s form and can be seen throughout Weiss and Manfredi s designs. Today, the importance of sustainability has spread into design. This is apparent in the Botanical Garden s visitor center. The center s placement between the urban and natural landscape represents today s new movement in sustainability, which no longer has the urban and the natural separated or merely juxtaposed but integrated into each other, coming from the concept of rus in urbe . • 32. Lab Report Miscible Liquid Water And 1-Propanol Introduction The lab was a distillation lab that involved 2 miscible liquids, water and 1 propanol in a 50% volume per volume mixture. These two solutions created an azeotrope where the two liquids have a constant boiling point throughout the distillation. The method used to distill the 1 propanol was fractional distillation, this involved packed fractionating columns that were attached to a distilling flask, when the hot vapour hit the cold packaging, the Liebig condenser, it was condensed. This was repeated many times so the final solution condensed was most likely pure 1 propanol. This is called refluxing, where the liquid is condensed and returned to liquid. [1] There are many real life applications of distillation that are used everyday, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As soon as there wasn t enough 1 propanol the boiling point shot up to 93°C. In this case the solution of water and 1 propanol acted as ideal liquids where the lower boiling point liquid distilled first and then the higher boiling point liquid. There also was a minimum and maximum boiling point observed. This distillation method is quite efficient, this was determined by calculating the percent error for the experiment (shown in the appendix). A 5.34% error is very low, this means that 95% of what is theoretically possible to distill from this mixture was actually collected when performing the experiment. The apparatus used for the distillation involved having the thermometer in a silicone pocket. This is due to the fact that silicone improves thermal conductivity rather than just having the thermometer in the air or in the mixture of water and propanol. Silicone has a thermal conductivity of 0.1 compared to 0.58 of water [4]. The optimal drop rate was at 15 20 drops per minute, if the drop rate was lower the lab would take a long time to complete, which is very inefficient. However, a higher drop rate would increase the possibility of missing the boiling point change. Boiling chips were added to the round bottom flask, their purpose was to ensure the mixture boils smoothly so the solution doesn t get superheated or boil ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
