Turbines
Turbines are flow sensing devices. They consist of a low inertia vane. When a subject exhales into the
device, the vane rotates. Also, inside the device are a light source and a photo cell. When the vane
rotates, the light signal is interrupted and so the number of rotations can be measured. The frequency
of rotations depends on the flow of air so a flow signal can be generated.
5. Introduction
The spirometer used within this service is the Micro Lab Spirometer; we use a 3Litre syringe to
calibrate the device prior to each clinic or start of the working day.
The protocol is used along side other trust policies. These are:
Hand washing policy
Record keeping policy
Hospital incident reporting system
Infection control policy
Decontamination policy for medical equipment
Information Governance and Caldicott policy
6.Calibration/Verification and Cleaning The spirometer must undergo pre test quality assurance
testing.
Prior to each spirometry session a 3Litre test syringe is used to calibrate the micro lab spirometer
10 verification spirometer testings are performed and then averaged.
A repeat verification spiometry is carried out each day using the micro lab spirometer.
The 3L syringe and the micro lab spirometer is serviced annually by W_______M_____.

Persian Mausoleum Essay
Creating A Persian Mausoleum
This essay is a How To guide on how to make a Persian Mausoleum. The most well known
Mausoleum is Cyrus the Great s. Creating a Mausoleum of the same style as Cyrus the Great s is
simple and easy. Even with all the technology of the time the tomb is both minimalistic and modest.
The real wealth of the tomb was the treasure that was placed inside. The building of the tomb was easy
and simplistic to erect. In this guide you ll see its resemblance to the Egyptian pyramid design. The
scale of the structure is much smaller than the Egyptian tombs but serves the same purpose. The
structure also was as significant to the Persians as much as the pyramids to the Egyptians.
To begin with, the structure was made of limestone rectangles which were carved and placed together
to form a step like structure. There are seven pyramid succeeding steps which are irregular in shape.
The seven stones are significant in that they were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pediment is found in classical Greek temples, renaissance, and neoclassical architecture. A
prominent example is the Parthenon, where it contains a tympanum decorated with figures in relief
sculpture. Dictionary of Ornament by Philippa Lewis Gillian Darley (1986) NY: Pantheon. The
structure is a somewhat elongated square. The slanted roof above the square construction also made of
limestone, as is most of the structure. One of the most prominent features of the tomb was an
engraving on one of its walls. The tomb was originally ornamented with an inscription, according to
Strabo (and other ancient sources), stated: O man! I am Cyrus the Great, who gave the Persians an

Trump Campaign Research Paper
No, the title isn t a typo. Trump s campaign has for some time now not been about Trump. Also, it
does not matter if he wins anymore. This quick note on Trump s campaign will not follow the usual
musing over Trump s intentions, frequent flip flops, or popularity. Neither will it turn ad hominem.
No, in the following few paragraphs I focus on two worrying affects the Trump campaign already has
on political discourse in the USA. First, Trump functions as a mediator and enabler. Yes, Trump is a
popular, even mythical creature akin to other American celebrities who have K s in their first or last
names. Such celebrities enable people to enliven their most gullible selves. Celebrities posting their
business ideas and asking for loans on twitter is harmless enough. What worries me about Trump is
the hidden people he s legitimizing, enabling, and sometimes, encouraging to violence. Say, for
argument s sake, Trump becomes president. Can we imagine what his rowdy allies will do when they
realise it is not within his power to enact his promises? Even if such a horrifying near future does not
come to pass, which I hope it doesn t, then the second longer term ... Show more content on

Trump has given the smouldering voiceless a voice. In other words, he has connected a portion of the
populace which before, sometimes maybe even politely, would have abstained from public outbursts
against immigrants. Also, from stories circulating in the media and from focus groups we know some
people don t even tell their spouse or colleagues they re voting for Trump. Now, from Trump s flip
flops on policies, I think it s safe to say that even he does not know what he thinks about big issues.
However, can you imagine what will happen if somebody who truly believes the radical things Trump
spews forth steps into this newly legitimated network and mobilises

The Liberal Arts and the End of Education Essay
The Liberal Arts and the End of Education
ABSTRACT: An international conference that takes Philosophy Educating Humanity as its theme
does well to revisit the liberal arts tradition. Although the liberal arts are most often assimilated to
studies brought together as the Humanities, the old usage included the arts which employed artificial
languages in mathematics, music, and astronomy, as well as the literature and letters of the various
natural languages. The current conflation of liberal education with the humanities does violence to the
historical tradition in education, reducing it to fluff in the eyes of tough minded scientists who know
that only numbers deliver objectivity. The liberal arts of the traditional undergraduate ... Show more

Some variation of this curriculum prevailed in universities throughout the classical period, the Middle
Ages and the Renaissance. Its early articulations in Plato, Boethius, Nicomachus, Martianus Capella,
Ptolemy and St. Bonaventura and others give way to the advance of modernity.. Jonathan Swift
recorded the first great battle of the new versus the old learning. Matthew Arnold and T. H. Huxley
engaged in a debate about the respective roles of literature and the sciences at the end of the
nineteenth century. that now seems a rearguard action. When Arnold defended letters, he did so by
advocating what was left in the nineteenth century of the liberal tradition. When Huxley put education
in the sciences forward as the appropriate wisdom for his time, he had already absolved himself and
his society of debts to transcendent values. Hopes for a consistent and inclusive schema of meaning
were buried along with the ancient division of a complete education into the studies of the trivium and
the quadrivium. The practical man is the man of the age, but his practicality lacks purpose. The man of
letters in the nineteenth century, not yet but on his way to imprisonment in the ivory tower, makes no
difference. About this time,

Reaction Paper On Aspartame
Aspartame is an artificial sweetner used commonly and widely in most of the products especially in
diet foods all over the world. Aspartame is one of the most common artifical sugar subsitute used,
which is sold under the brand names NutraSweet and Equal.
It is a non sachharide sweetner, made by coupling of two amino acids (Phenylalanine and Aspartic
Acid) together. It is a methly ester of the aspartic acid and phenylalanine dipeptide.
Aspartame is used as it is 200 times more sweeter than sugar, so a very less amount is used in
replacement of sugars giving lowest calories.
History
M. Schlatter, a chemist working for G.D Searle and company, discovered aspartame as an intermediate
product, during the integration of hormone gastrin. The sweet taste of aspartame was discovered
accidently in 1965, when he licked his finger which had come in tact with the aspartame.
In 1979, center for food safety and applied nutrition (CFSAN) drawn into close that many problems
associated with the use of aspartame were smaller and actually did not affect the results.

The Concentration Of The Wastewater
where M1 is the molarity (concentration) of the wastewater, V1 is the amount of titrant used to reach a
neutral pH, M2 is the concentration of the titrant used, and V2 is the total amount of titrant used as
calculated in Figure 1. As Table 8 shows, the calculations were consistent with the qualitative analysis
of concentration formerly explained. For example, the olive oil had the most concentrated wastewater
at 10.25 M while detergent I and vegetable oil had the least concentrated waste water at 2.5 M and 3.6
M, respectively.
Just like all the other results, these titration analyses could be due to the improper formation of soap
due to a lack of heating again, as previously explained. Then, there was detergent II which started with
an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A 1M concentration of each was used in the titrations when a 6 M concentration should have been
used. As a result, this caused the calculated concentrations of the wastewater to be higher than they
otherwise would be.
Looking at Figures 2 7, the titration graphs have an interesting curve. The change in pH appears to
start slow, then almost instantaneously changes to the neutralized pH. For example, in Figure 2, the
olive oil wastewater starts with a very basic pH. As hydrochloric acid is added, the graph appears to
slowly move down the Y axis, meaning the pH is decreasing as well. Suddenly, around the time when
about 0.33 units of hydrochloric acid had been added, the graph drops steeply to the acidic pH values
and plateaus at the acidic pH of about 1.4. The vegetable oil waste water s titration curve in Figure 3,
the crisco waste water s titration curve in figure 4, the lard waste water s titration curve in figure 5,
and the detergent I waste water s titration curve in figure 6 all display the same described pattern as
olive oil waste water s titration curve. In figure 7, the detergent II waste water s curve follows the
same general pattern but is reversed. The graph starts at an acidic pH since the detergent II s waste
water was acidic. Then, it increases slowly at first and exponentially increases in pH with the graph
showing a steep curve and eventually leveling out to a basic pH of about 12. The

Jonathan Alder Cross Country Case Study
The Jonathan Alder Cross Country team is half way into their team taper and already saw success
from the weekly drop in mileage. The team dropped 25% of their weekly mileage this past week and
are heading into the postseason running only 50% of their usual mileage. The taper is used to feel
fresh come race day and let your training do the rest. This past Saturday, at the MOAC
Championships, the team witnessed some of its best results of the season in their final year in the
conference.
Right out of the gate in the high school boys race, everybody knew Junior Zach Kreft from Buckeye
Valley would run away with the victory but the 2nd overall finisher was still a question. Freshman
Luke Malone and Gavin Frick worked off each other the entire race moving from as far as 17th and
18th place early on to finishing 2nd and 4th. The two were able to run a 5:17 and 10:52 for their mile
splits. At the end, Malone was just able to beat out Frick and Sophomore Adam Brown from North
Union to race into 2nd place racing to a PR of 16:58. Frick was able to PR, finishing just behind

Plato Cave
In the story The Allegory of the Cave, Plato describes the perception of reality. He explains how to
interpret ideas or objects in different perspectives. The story he tells about the cave could have
influenced different modern day ideas. Some ideal examples might include religion, abuse, and
imprisonment. Plato s cave theory applies to all of these ideas and can show many different
perspectives. While everyone has a different opinion on religion and its origins, Plato s story may have
influenced it in some way. This could be interpreted by saying the people sitting in the cave, for
example, could be the believers in religion while the person to escape would be the nonbeliever . The

King William The Drinking Man s Diet
King William I was a Norman during the Middle Ages. Normans were mostly known for fighting and
feasting, so they were probably big and strong. King William was one of the largest men to rule a
country. He was teased by many people for being so fat they even made remarks saying he was
pregnant. He was getting too big to ride his hors; people could tell that the horse was suffering from
him. According to Mickey Bumbar in his blog Lords of The Drinks, William was one of the first
persons to go on a weight loss diet. Mickey wrote that in 1087 William started his diet which consisted
of lying in bed and only drinking alcohol. Along then came Fletcherism during the 19th and 20th
century. This diet or health plan was brought up by Horace Fletcher. ... Show more content on

What peoples beliefs are can also affect their diet, they may become vegetarian or vegan which can be
very healthy if executed the right way. A lot of studies have been done that relate stress and weight
gain, so stress can definitely influence the way a person eats. Not only can it be academically but also
social kind of stress can contribute to unhealthy choices, for example, after a bad breakup people
actually do tend to eat more sweets and just sit around. Information on what people can do different in
their diets would be very helpful; having a better knowledge on healthier diets would help people
recognize what they are doing wrong and how to fix it. Many times people turn to fad diets because

that seem to affect eating behaviors (Deliens,

The Puzzle Of 15 Puzzle
N Puzzle is a sliding puzzle that consists of a frame of numbered square tiles in random order with one
tile missing. The N Puzzle is known in finite versions such as the 8 puzzle (a 3x3 board) and the 15
puzzle (a 4x4 board), and with various names like sliding block , tile puzzle , etc. [1][2]
The 15 puzzle is a sliding square puzzle commonly attributed to Sam Loyd. However, research by
Slocum and Sonneveld (2006) has revealed that Sam Loyd did not invent the 15 puzzle and had
nothing to do with promoting or popularizing it. The puzzle craze that was created by the 15 puzzle
began in January 1880 in the United States and in April in Europe and ended by July 1880. Loyd first
claimed in 1891 that he invented the puzzle, and he continued until his death a 20 year campaign to
falsely take credit for the puzzle. The actual inventor was Noyes Chapman, the Postmaster of
Canastota, New York, and he applied for a patent in March 1880. [4]
The N Puzzle is a board game for a single player. It consists of (N^2 1) numbered squared tiles in
random order, and one blank space ( a missing tile ). The object of the puzzle is to rearrange the tiles
in order by making sliding moves that use the empty space, using the fewest moves. Moves of the
puzzle are made by sliding an adjacent tile into the empty space. Only tiles that are horizontally or
vertically adjacent to the blank space (not diagonally adjacent) may be moved. [2]
The N puzzle game provides a good framework for

The Influence Of The On The Church Of Corinth
Looking back in world history, one can notice the high significance that the notion of wisdom had in
the interpretations of philosophers and theologians. Most of them imagined wisdom as an ideal form
of human knowledge, desired and praised by all. Even the Corinthians were wisdom seekers. As a
result, the secular Corinth heavily influenced the church in Corinth. The church encouraged attitudes
associated with what would presently be called consumerism, postmodernism and audience pleasing
rhetoric. This paper will examine how Paul uses this aspect (wisdom), how he sets forth a formative
understanding of the cross, a Christomorphic re definition of the word spiritual , a four step analysis
towards the hidden wisdom of God, a comparison ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He made a conscious decision to put the emphasis on Jesus Christ and Him crucified. He probably
thought about the enormous task to preach the gospel in a city like Corinth. Knowing the need and his
own limitations made him weak and afraid. Yet it kept him from the poison of self reliance, and let
God s strength flow. Paul s rhetorical depreciation of his person and his oratory so as to highlight the
power of God at work in the gospel is reflective of his view that the messenger and the message are as
one in the proclamation of the gospel .
The word wisdom , based on its usage within the bible, can be rendered to its occasional uses in the
Old Testament to refer to mechanical dexterity, while its dominant uses within the New Testament
generally refers to an attribute of God or as divine knowledge . In the predominant context of the New
Testament, the word wisdom can be interpreted through the Greek word Sophia , which can be
rendered as practical wisdom or wisdom personified; the English translation of the word is divine/holy
wisdom and was widely used by early churches . Paul uses the word wisdom (sophia) several times in
chapters 1 3; the word wisdom appears sixteen times and wise appears ten times hinting on the
predominance of the word in these chapters. This suggests that wisdom was fundamentally a
Corinthian issue, which Paul was forced to address in a corrective, ad hoc manner. Hence it is
reasonable to argue that Paul s notion of wisdom in

Padre Pio s Beliefs And Beliefs
Padre Pio was born in a small town called Pietrelcina, in Italy. Him and his family were poor in the
real world, but in the world of faith they were very very rich. At the age of 5, Francesco Forgione,
Padre Pio s name, dedicated his life fully to God. He loved to go to the church as a kid to pray. As a
young boy, he was able to see and communicate with, not only his guardian angel but also with Jesus
and the Virgin Mary. When Francesco was fifteen years old, he was admitted to the novitiate of the
Capuchin Order of the Friars Minor in Morcone, Italy.
A couple distinctive characteristic of Padre Pio are that Padre Pio is understood above all else as a
man of prayer. One of his favorite prayers was the Rosary and he recommended it to everyone.

Jablonksi Skin Color
In this video Dr. Nina Jablonksi from Penn State University talked about the evolution of human skin
color and why the gradient of skin color in humans exists. To begin this video she started by talking
about melanin, which is the main pigment in human skin. Melanin is produced in the lower layer of
skin and has two different types. The first type is called eumelanin, which is the most common type.
Eumelanin usually gives skin and hair black and brown coloring. The second type of melanin is
pheomelanin which is red and yellow in color. Certain amounts of these melanin are what determine
the different shades of skin tones. Melanin helps absorb the ultraviolet radiation which helps protect
the skin against the harmful and damaging effects of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is shown by the skin pigmentation in the Maasai people of East Africa because the women are a
lighter skin color than the men. Skin pigmentation does not fully develop until adulthood as well, the
Maasai people show this as well. Over time, researchers have hypothesized that lighter skinned
people, such as Europeans or Asians, resulted from a chromosome mutation in dark skinned people.
To prove this hypothesis, researchers analyzed DNA of bones that are 50,000 years old from skeletons
of Neanderthals. These bones showed the diminishing pigmentation and through the DNA analysis it
showed the genetic mutation. In the end, scientists have done enough research to find out that people
should not be identified by their skin color. It is actually seen as a complete fallacy to identify people
by the pigmentation of their skin. Everyone comes from the same place and we are all alike. The only
real difference is the color we see but that is all, the differences truly do only run skin deep. We all
have the same ancestry and all of our skin pigmentation is almost identical. People need to stop
judging a book by its color and look a little

A Study On Nazi Medical Experiments
The chapter on Nazi medical experiments in Chalmers book is one of the most fascinating chapters
because it examines the different types of techniques that the Nazi s used to sterilize men and women.
Chalmers explains that women were particularly subject to medical experiments because the Nazis
were obsessed with destroying inferior races and wanted to perfect the art of sterilization so no more
undesirable elements would be born (Ibid 123). However, both men and women were subject to Nazi
medical experiments like medical injections, X Rays, and chemicals, which resulted in burnt skin,

This section of Chalmers book makes the reader ponder the morality of medical experiments like
abortions, stem cell research, and infanticide in the world today and questions whether we have
learned from Nazi medical experiments in the past.
The second section of Beverly Chalmers book, Birth, Sex and Abuse, deals with sexuality among
Germans and sexual abuse among Jewish women. Chalmers provides interesting information on how
the Nazi s banned homosexuality, birth control, and feminist organizations (Ibid 145). Chalmers
outlines that the goals of the Nazi party by repressing sexuality like homosexuals and feminist
movements was to promote pronatalist policies like reproduction so women could bear more children
for the superior Aryan race. Chalmers extensive study of brothels in concentration camps interested
me because I did not realize the SS allowed prostitution inside concentration camps and the majority
of these women were Germans because Jewish women were not allowed to be prostitutes due to the
Rassenschande laws. Chalmers study of German women in brothels broadens the traditional study of
the Holocaust because rather than always focusing on non German women s experiences it allows
people that study the Holocaust to examine how German women were affected by the Holocaust in

Iphigenia Roles
Greek culture has made its own mark on our society in the United States. Before women s suffrage,
U.S. women had the same roles as Greek women did. The main part of this play talks about the fight
for who gets Helen, and the role that Iphigenia has in this task. A lot of Greek myths and plays
reference sacrifices of a daughter to a god, in order to help a group of people or make the god happy.
The main people of this story: Helen and Menelaus, and Iphigenia, who all have their specific roles in
this play, and roles in their societies. Helen, being the one who is fought over, Iphigenia, who is being
sacrificed, Menelaus, who is the king of sparta, but would lose that position without Helen, and
Agamemnon, the father that sacrifices his daughter to Artemis. All of these example show what is
expected of them in their positions, and their gender in their society. Helen of Troy isn t really a main

US Arms Monopoly Summary
The Case Against a U.S. Arms Monopoly is written by Christopher J. Coyne and Abigail R. Hall. The
beginning starts out with discussing about how much exactly the United States government owns in
the global arms market. The article brings up what exactly other countries own and how powerful they
are in the global arms and it show how much the United States government owns. After the
introduction to the monopoly that the United States government has the article begins to discuss about
the arguments that are for this monopoly. This discusses all of the positives and goods that come from
the United States having this monopoly over global arms. Soon after that, the article begins to talk
about just costs and consequences that come from the United States having this monopoly. In this part
it is discussed that there are four parts to this. These costs are system effects, principal agent problems,
rent seeking, and increase in the overall amount of global arms.

Reduced Access To Health Care Essay
The rapidly rising cost of health care in the United States has made access to medical care difficult for
many citizens. Additionally, the number of uninsured is increasing because of job loss and reduction
of employee benefits. This trend is projected to continue. The negative effect of reduced access to
health care may have alarming effects on the economic well being of the nation. The passage of the
Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) marks the beginning of significant
transformation in the United States health care systems. After multiple attempts to reform health care
over the years, the nation s leaders have succeeded in pushing through this landmark legislation that
will ensure most Americans will have access to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A series of events has recently occurred to cause the passage of PPACA. Economics are explicitly
linked to health care. In the United States, health care coverage is provided primarily through an
employer based system. This system began in the depression era when pay was federally frozen.
Companies, in an attempt to lure scarce workers, used benefits packages including health care as bait.
Described as a uniquely American private social security health care system, the employer sponsored
system is the cornerstone of United States health care system (Blumenthal, 2006). This system has left
many un or under insured. Blumenthal states (2006), The United States dependence on employer
sponsored insurance means that the protection of its citizens against the costs of illness depends
directly on the ability of private businesses to manage and absorb health care expenses that have
defied all efforts to contain them. Recently, economic downturn and the need to reduce expenses to
better compete on the global market has caused many companies to both reduce their insurance
benefits package and their work force causing many to lose their health care coverage. The employer
based system merged with the economic downturn, unaffordable health care costs for businesses, and

Blues Boundaries And The Blues Angela Davis Analysis
Rebekah Scarborough
15 December 2017
History of the Blues
Professor House
Did Angela Davis get it wrong?
As a consequence of slavery and segregation, Angela Y. Davis contends in Blues
Legacies and Black Feminism, her study of the recordings of Billie Holiday and the blues
vaudevillians Gertrude (Ma) Rainey and Bessie Smith, black social consciousness has been
overdetermined by race, with too little attention paid to sex and virtually none to class. Davis, a
professor of something called the history of consciousness at the University of California,
Santa Cruz, would have a hard time selling such a notion to this country s black poor, who are
understandably inclined to blame the legacy of white racism for their poverty. But she s right in
step with the more radical of her academic colleagues, even if her ingrained cultural nationalism
prevents her from joining them in dismissing race as an arbitrary social construct with no basis in
anthropology. Race, according to current academic thinking, is a smokescreen that has drawn
discussion away from the more crucial issue of class.
If this sounds suspiciously like Marxism, it is Marxism gone post modern: a tool for the
analysis of literary and other texts, not necessarily a call for the exploited masses to rise. One
of the side effects of this recent trend has been to restore the credibility of certain black
intellectuals and activists of the 1960 s and 70 s, whose Marxist ideals might otherwise make
them seem like relics not of their own day but of the 1930 s. Davis made the news in 1969, when
the Regents of the University of California attempted to bar her from teaching at U.C.L.A.
because she was a member of the Communist Party, and again a year later, when she briefly
became a fugitive after being accused of supplying the brother of George Jackson with the
firearms for his one man raid on a Marin County courthouse. (Jonathan Jackson was killed,
along with three others, in the ensuing shootout. Davis was later apprehended, tried and
acquitted.)
Davis s thesis in Blues Legacies and Black Feminism, in a nutshell, is that Ma Rainey
and Bessie Smith, among other flamboyant women blues singers

Persuasive Essay On Latching
Introduction
Breastfeeding can be challenging, especially during the first few weeks after childbirth. It is normal to
have some problems when you start to breastfeed your new baby, even if you have breastfed before.
This document provides some solutions to the most common breastfeeding challenges.
Many common challenges are caused by poor latching. Latching refers to when your baby s mouth
attaches to your nipple to breastfeed.
How do I make sure that my baby is latched and positioned properly?
Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down, with your neck and back well supported.
Place a pillow or rolled up blanket under your baby to bring him or her to the level of your breast (if
you are seated).
Make sure that your baby s abdomen is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nipple pain.
Cracked or sore nipples
Cracked or sore nipples are often caused by inadequate latching. Soreness can also happen if your
baby is not positioned properly at your breast.
What is the solution?
Make sure your baby is latched and positioned correctly.
To help your breasts stay moisturized and healthy:
Avoid using soap on your nipples.
Wear a supportive bra. Avoid wearing underwire style bras or tight bras.
After each feeding, air dry your nipples for 3 4 minutes.
Use only cotton bra pads to absorb breast milk leakage. Be sure to change the pads if they become
soaked with milk.
Use lanolin, olive oil, or coconut oil on your nipples after nursing. If you use pure lanolin, you do not
need to wash it off before feeding your baby again. Pure lanolin is not poisonous (toxic) to your baby.
Use your hand to squeeze out (express) a few drops of breast milk, gently massage the milk into your
nipples, and let your nipple air dry.
When should I contact my health care provider?
If you have nipple pain, cracking, or soreness that lasts longer than 1 week, contact your health care
provider or lactation consultant. Nipple cracking and soreness are common during the first week after
birth, but nipple pain is never normal.
Breast engorgement
Breast engorgement is the overfilling of your breasts with breast milk. This can make your breasts
throb and feel hard, tightly stretched,

Creativity In Aldus Huxley s Brave New World
Humans have become more creative as time has gone on. This can be justified through different
movements in history, such as the enlightenment age, or the romanticism era. But the change that
creativity may bring can be looked at as a very dangerous thing, as it can be costly or destructive in
some cases. Except that being original and innovative can help move a species into a more efficient
production lifestyle, as Aldus Huxley Shows in, Brave New World of how such a trait can create a
whole new world for the people living within, as well as how the same ability can be easily taken
away. In today s modern society, people are facing similar problems to ones those in Huxley s novel

Since people s views only go as far as seeing programs like painting, drawing, choir or orchestra to
which can help develop one s creativity as just a distraction towards more important classes, such as
science or math. Though multiple studies prove, Schools with long standing art programs have higher
graduation rates. In many instances, art classes motivate students to stay in school, especially low
achieving students, by fostering closer ties with peers and creating community oriented environments
(Metla). Showing, how schools with art programs can serve as a motivation for a student s need for
success. Not only do programs like art or music motivate, but classes taught at college levels also
show how subjects like, The humanities teach something. Their subject matter is culture, and since
everything human beings do is mediated by culture by language, by representations, by systems of
values and beliefs knowing how to understand other languages, interpret cultural expressions, and
evaluate belief systems is as indispensable to functioning effectively in the professional world as
knowing how to use a computer. This knowledge may or may not make you a better person; it can
certainly make you more productive and successful in the workplace (Menand). To which,
undoubtedly justifies the importance of classes like the humanities, because there is basic knowledge
that can be learned and applied to one s life. Furthermore showing how many Schools across the
country have faced budget shortfalls in recent years, a common cost cutting measure is to slash
funding for arts education, prioritizing what are deemed more essential subjects such as math, reading,
and science (Fang). When schools focus less on classes that enhance a student s creative and
innovative thinking, then there is less of a chance that

Theme Of The Man Who Loved Flowers
The short story The Man Who Loved Flowers by Stephen King, is told by a third person omniscient
narrator. This is illustrated when the narrator describes the characters as the pronouns he and her and
also since the narrator has access to multiple characters thoughts and feelings. For instance in this
quote it is clear to see that he uses the pronouns he and her .
Norma, he whispered, and pulled the short handled hammer out of his pocket where it had been all
along. They re for you, Norma... it was always for you... all for you. She backed away, her face a
round white blur, her mouth an opening black O of terror, and she wasn t Norma, Norma was dead,
she had been dead for ten years...

The man is portrayed as a young man, well dressed in a light grey suit. When he walked down the
streets he was bouncing with a smile on his lips. His tie was pulled down a little and his top collar
button was undone, which give us the expression that he is relaxed. His hair was short and dark and he
had light blue eyes. He is very polite to the people he meet on his way. He is very talkative with the
flower vendor, which makes him appear like he is just a regular young man who is in love.
He has a split personality that chances like the day. When in sunshine the man is described as a
beautiful man full with goodness and changes to evil when he turn into the darkness. When he turns
into the violent murderer he become aggressive and psycho when he swung the hammer towards the
girl he thought was Norma.
After he killed the innocent girl, he turns back to the normal and relaxed man he was in the beginning,
so he himself is a binary opposition that has two completely different kinds of personalities.
The antagonist in the text is the surroundings. As they change when he walks in the streets of New
York he develops into a

Consideration is given if the majority shareholder owns such a significant portion of the investee that
the minority shareholder has a small economic interest. The larger the disparity, the more likely these
are to be protective rights. In this situation, there is not a large disparity.
b. If the corporate governance arrangements states that decisions are made at the shareholder level,
these are likely to be substantive participating rights.
c. If matters can be put to a vote of the shareholders, these are most likely substantive participating
rights.
References:
ASC 810 10 25 5
Assessing whether the rights of a minority shareholder should overcome the presumption of
consolidation by the majority investor depends on whether the majority investor has control over the
corporation. Judging control depends on many factors, including if a minority investor has
participating or protective rights.
ASC 810 10 25 10 through 25 11
A minority investor that holds protective rights does take the control away from the majority investor
and the owner of the majority voting interest would need to consolidate with the corporation.
Substantive participating rights are granted by contract or by law. A minority investor that holds these
rights can participate in significant decisions that are made in the ordinary course of business,
including vetoing significant decisions proposed by the investor with the majority voting interest. If

book The Giver is set in a dystopian future that looks as though nothing bad could ever happen. The
main protagonist, Jonas, is a boy who has light eyes which makes him a bit different from his
community. Jonas is selected for a job that is given high respect. The Receiver of Memory. As the
story progressed, Jonas receives memories and learn things about the the community that shocked
him. The change Jonas went through was dramatic. The events Jonas goes through is very important in

Term Limits Analysis
The Supreme Court is a critical part of our government. As such, we need the very best and most
capable judges to serve on the bench of the court. Unfortunately, there have been several cases where
judges have stayed on the court way to long. For example, Philip Cattan fell asleep during a rape trial,
and was allowed to remain a judge . (Daily Mail, 2016). Therefore, term limits are a good idea
because it would reduce the impact of judges medical issues on the court, changing judges more often
would result in judges who are more in touch with society, and the majority of people in the United
States support the idea of the term limits for the Supreme Court. Having term limits would be an
excellent idea because it would reduce medical issues that would impact the work of the Supreme
Court. This is why many people support the idea of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Democrats, and independents support term limits. As a matter of fact, John Fund states that A Gallup
survey from Jan. 2013 found that 751% of Americans including huge majorities of Republicans,
Democrats, and independents support term limits on congress . (John Fund, 2014) Having term limits
is just a great idea. Term limits are not only good for the Supreme Court, but also us. It would be
reducing medical issues, allowing younger judges who are in touch with society take charge, and also
it would be taking the peoples vote who support term limits. Judges who are in touch with society
should be allowed to take charge and make better laws. Most of the United States citizens would be
glad of having term

British Colonialism Essay example
The study of British colonialism is a rather new field with much to discuss and a lot more to debate.
The recent recognition of new nation states that were once under the control of Britain was a growing
phenomenon and one that continues to play a large role in today s global politics. Since the rather
recent period of these new nations, new study s have been done into the history of a) the peoples that
inhabited the land before Britain, b) the way Britain occupied and control and land, and now c) post
Britain. This is a growing topic in the historical field because seventy five years ago there was no
thought that Britain would relieve control of India or Nigeria. That is why post British colonialism is
important to today, because it is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1300 British men died and was evidently the worst British defeat at the hands of a native power in the
history of its empire. This was played down by the British crown as nothing more than a minor
skirmish, however, since the fall of the British empire, historians have done their share of reviewing,
analyzing and critiquing the battle and why is ended in such disaster for the British. The first major
piece of work to be written about the Anglo Zulu war, with a small chapter devoted to the battle of
Isandlwana, is called The History of the Zulu War and Its Origin by Frances Ellen Colenso. Written in
1880, one year after the war concluded, Colenso wrote in a Pro nationalist focus. He applauds the
camp tactics employed by Lord Chelmsford, General of British Forces in South Africa and Natal, and
does in no way seem to dislike or question the Generals commands. As stated above, this a very short
chapter in a very large book. There are thirty pages devoted to Isandlwana in a book of over 400
pages. The thesis of the book is However insufficient the result may prove, we shall at least hope that
our work may give some slight assistance to the maintenance of which alone can ensure the true
honour of the British name . The way the book was written, it is a very pro British book with emphasis
on helping the British reputation. The book does leave out a lot of important details because it is

James Webb Telescope
We can search for things that can t be seen by using EMR, or some of NASA s tools like a telescope.
For example, the James Webb Telescope or the Hubble Telescope can help us see the universe more
clearly than we ever have. To start, in the reading, JWTS: A vision for the future, it states that Lyman
Spitzer Jr. dreamed of a telescope that could snap crystal clear views of the universe. This telescope
would be able to reveal clearer images of far off objects than any of the telescopes we have on Earth.
This telescope was eventually known as the James Webb Telescope. This proves that it can help things

stars and James Webb Telescope will certainly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My evidence proves that the JWTS can help search for these things because even though we have
many infrared telescopes on Earth, the best place to do it is in space, because of how bright the
atmosphere glows in infrared light. This will allow us to better understand how the universe, galaxies,
stars, and planets came to be. Also, infrared light pierces through layers of dust that can hide objects in
space, allowing the Webb, with its cutting edge technology, to see the objects that are hidden. This
proves we can use EMR to see things that can t be seen because the universe is expanding, and visible
light stretches as it travels through space, turning it into infrared light. Which makes distant stars and
galaxies seem out of sight. Not to mention, Webb s vision will be able to see the flicker of the first
galaxies popping into existence in the early universe. It will chart the growth of galaxies from being
shapeless masses to being huge spiral shapes that may be home to new planets and solar systems. This
ties in with the question, how galaxies, planets, and stars came to be because this telescope will be
able to see the birth of galaxies and continue to watch it

Harvey Milk Research Paper
If a bullet should enter my brain, let that bullet destroy every closet door, are the famous words of
Harvey Milk. Harvey Milk, a gay rights activist, changed the world for the LGBT community. Milk
was one of the first openly gay officials when he was elected to the San Francisco Board of
Supervisors in 1977. He was assassinated the next year in San Francisco City Hall by Dan White who
opposed the increasing acceptance of homosexuals (Biography). The assassination of Harvey Milk
was unjust because he was a human rights leader and dedicated to achieving equality for the LGBT
community: however, others may not believe he was a person to idolize. Harvey Milk should not have
been killed because he was human and gay rights leader. Harvey repeatedly pleaded for equality for
everyone, especially in San Francisco. Gay rights protect everyone, said Milk in an interview (1977).

Creating a Mausoleum of the same style as Cyrus the Great s is simple and easy. Even with all the technology of the time the tomb is both minimalistic and modest. The real wealth of the tomb was the treasure that was placed inside. The building of the tomb was easy and simplistic to erect. In this guide you ll see its resemblance to the Egyptian pyramid design. The scale of the structure is much smaller than the Egyptian tombs but serves the same purpose. The structure also was as significant to the Persians as much as the pyramids to the Egyptians. To begin with, the structure was made of limestone rectangles which were carved and placed together to form a step like structure. • 6. Trump Campaign Research Paper No, the title isn t a typo. Trump s campaign has for some time now not been about Trump. Also, it does not matter if he wins anymore. This quick note on Trump s campaign will not follow the usual musing over Trump s intentions, frequent flip flops, or popularity. Neither will it turn ad hominem. No, in the following few paragraphs I focus on two worrying affects the Trump campaign already has on political discourse in the USA. First, Trump functions as a mediator and enabler. Yes, Trump is a popular, even mythical creature akin to other American celebrities who have K s in their first or last names. Such celebrities enable people to enliven their most gullible selves. Celebrities posting their business ideas and asking for loans on twitter is harmless enough. What worries me about Trump is the hidden people he s legitimizing, enabling, and sometimes, encouraging to violence. Say, for argument s sake, Trump becomes president. Can we imagine what his rowdy allies will do when they realise it is not within his power to enact his promises? Even if such a horrifying near future does not come to pass, which I hope it doesn t, then the second longer term ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now, from Trump s flip flops on policies, I think it s safe to say that even he does not know what he thinks about big issues. The Liberal Arts and the End of Education Essay The Liberal Arts and the End of Education ABSTRACT: An international conference that takes Philosophy Educating Humanity as its theme does well to revisit the liberal arts tradition. Although the liberal arts are most often assimilated to studies brought together as the Humanities, the old usage included the arts which employed artificial languages in mathematics, music, and astronomy, as well as the literature and letters of the various natural languages. The current conflation of liberal education with the humanities does violence to the historical tradition in education, reducing it to fluff in the eyes of tough minded scientists who know that only numbers deliver objectivity. Some variation of this curriculum prevailed in universities throughout the classical period, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Its early articulations in Plato, Boethius, Nicomachus, Martianus Capella, Ptolemy and St. Bonaventura and others give way to the advance of modernity.. Jonathan Swift recorded the first great battle of the new versus the old learning. Matthew Arnold and T. H. Huxley engaged in a debate about the respective roles of literature and the sciences at the end of the nineteenth century. that now seems a rearguard action. When Arnold defended letters, he did so by advocating what was left in the nineteenth century of the liberal tradition. When Huxley put education in the sciences forward as the appropriate wisdom for his time, he had already absolved himself and his society of debts to transcendent values. Hopes for a consistent and inclusive schema of meaning were buried along with the ancient division of a complete education into the studies of the trivium and the quadrivium. Aspartame is one of the most common artifical sugar subsitute used, which is sold under the brand names NutraSweet and Equal. It is a non sachharide sweetner, made by coupling of two amino acids (Phenylalanine and Aspartic Acid) together. It is a methly ester of the aspartic acid and phenylalanine dipeptide. Aspartame is used as it is 200 times more sweeter than sugar, so a very less amount is used in replacement of sugars giving lowest calories. History M. Schlatter, a chemist working for G.D Searle and company, discovered aspartame as an intermediate product, during the integration of hormone gastrin. The sweet taste of aspartame was discovered accidently in 1965, when he licked his finger which had come in tact with the aspartame. The Concentration Of The Wastewater where M1 is the molarity (concentration) of the wastewater, V1 is the amount of titrant used to reach a neutral pH, M2 is the concentration of the titrant used, and V2 is the total amount of titrant used as calculated in Figure 1. As Table 8 shows, the calculations were consistent with the qualitative analysis of concentration formerly explained. For example, the olive oil had the most concentrated wastewater at 10.25 M while detergent I and vegetable oil had the least concentrated waste water at 2.5 M and 3.6 M, respectively. Just like all the other results, these titration analyses could be due to the improper formation of soap due to a lack of heating again, as previously explained. Then, there was detergent II which started with an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A 1M concentration of each was used in the titrations when a 6 M concentration should have been used. As a result, this caused the calculated concentrations of the wastewater to be higher than they otherwise would be. Looking at Figures 2 7, the titration graphs have an interesting curve. The change in pH appears to start slow, then almost instantaneously changes to the neutralized pH. For example, in Figure 2, the olive oil wastewater starts with a very basic pH. As hydrochloric acid is added, the graph appears to slowly move down the Y axis, meaning the pH is decreasing as well. Suddenly, around the time when about 0.33 units of hydrochloric acid had been added, the graph drops steeply to the acidic pH values and plateaus at the acidic pH of about 1.4. The vegetable oil waste water s titration curve in Figure 3, the crisco waste water s titration curve in figure 4, the lard waste water s titration curve in figure 5, and the detergent I waste water s titration curve in figure 6 all display the same described pattern as olive oil waste water s titration curve. In figure 7, the detergent II waste water s curve follows the same general pattern but is reversed. The graph starts at an acidic pH since the detergent II s waste water was acidic. Then, it increases slowly at first and exponentially increases in pH with the graph showing a steep curve and eventually leveling out to a basic pH of about 12. The ... The N Puzzle is known in finite versions such as the 8 puzzle (a 3x3 board) and the 15 puzzle (a 4x4 board), and with various names like sliding block , tile puzzle , etc. [1][2] The 15 puzzle is a sliding square puzzle commonly attributed to Sam Loyd. However, research by Slocum and Sonneveld (2006) has revealed that Sam Loyd did not invent the 15 puzzle and had nothing to do with promoting or popularizing it. The puzzle craze that was created by the 15 puzzle began in January 1880 in the United States and in April in Europe and ended by July 1880. Loyd first claimed in 1891 that he invented the puzzle, and he continued until his death a 20 year campaign to falsely take credit for the puzzle. The actual inventor was Noyes Chapman, the Postmaster of Canastota, New York, and he applied for a patent in March 1880. [4] The N Puzzle is a board game for a single player. It consists of (N^2 1) numbered squared tiles in random order, and one blank space ( a missing tile ). The object of the puzzle is to rearrange the tiles in order by making sliding moves that use the empty space, using the fewest moves. Moves of the puzzle are made by sliding an adjacent tile into the empty space. Only tiles that are horizontally or vertically adjacent to the blank space (not diagonally adjacent) may be moved. • 15. The Influence Of The On The Church Of Corinth Looking back in world history, one can notice the high significance that the notion of wisdom had in the interpretations of philosophers and theologians. Most of them imagined wisdom as an ideal form of human knowledge, desired and praised by all. Even the Corinthians were wisdom seekers. As a result, the secular Corinth heavily influenced the church in Corinth. The church encouraged attitudes associated with what would presently be called consumerism, postmodernism and audience pleasing rhetoric. This paper will examine how Paul uses this aspect (wisdom), how he sets forth a formative understanding of the cross, a Christomorphic re definition of the word spiritual , a four step analysis towards the hidden wisdom of God, a comparison ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He made a conscious decision to put the emphasis on Jesus Christ and Him crucified. He probably thought about the enormous task to preach the gospel in a city like Corinth. Knowing the need and his own limitations made him weak and afraid. Yet it kept him from the poison of self reliance, and let God s strength flow. Paul s rhetorical depreciation of his person and his oratory so as to highlight the power of God at work in the gospel is reflective of his view that the messenger and the message are as one in the proclamation of the gospel . The word wisdom , based on its usage within the bible, can be rendered to its occasional uses in the Old Testament to refer to mechanical dexterity, while its dominant uses within the New Testament generally refers to an attribute of God or as divine knowledge . In the predominant context of the New Testament, the word wisdom can be interpreted through the Greek word Sophia , which can be rendered as practical wisdom or wisdom personified; the English translation of the word is divine/holy wisdom and was widely used by early churches . Paul uses the word wisdom (sophia) several times in chapters 1 3; the word wisdom appears sixteen times and wise appears ten times hinting on the predominance of the word in these chapters. This suggests that wisdom was fundamentally a Corinthian issue, which Paul was forced to address in a corrective, ad hoc manner. Hence it is reasonable to argue that Paul s notion of wisdom in ... To begin this video she started by talking about melanin, which is the main pigment in human skin. Melanin is produced in the lower layer of skin and has two different types. The first type is called eumelanin, which is the most common type. Eumelanin usually gives skin and hair black and brown coloring. Skin pigmentation does not fully develop until adulthood as well, the Maasai people show this as well. To prove this hypothesis, researchers analyzed DNA of bones that are 50,000 years old from skeletons of Neanderthals. These bones showed the diminishing pigmentation and through the DNA analysis it showed the genetic mutation. In the end, scientists have done enough research to find out that people should not be identified by their skin color. It is actually seen as a complete fallacy to identify people by the pigmentation of their skin. Everyone comes from the same place and we are all alike. A lot of Greek myths and plays reference sacrifices of a daughter to a god, in order to help a group of people or make the god happy. The main people of this story: Helen and Menelaus, and Iphigenia, who all have their specific roles in this play, and roles in their societies. Helen, being the one who is fought over, Iphigenia, who is being sacrificed, Menelaus, who is the king of sparta, but would lose that position without Helen, and Agamemnon, the father that sacrifices his daughter to Artemis. All of these example show what is expected of them in their positions, and their gender in their society. Helen of Troy isn t really a main character in this play, but her role pretty much creates the entire body of this play. Her beauty, and the role she had in Sparta, is why the Trojan war was fought. And I give my body willingly as a sacrifice for my country, for all of Greece (Euripides, Iphigenia in Aulis lines 2082 2085). Iphigenia s role as daughter in this play is for her to sacrifice herself because of the ignorance of her father. George says, Iphigenia s acceptance of the sacrifice is naive (George, 2012, pg. 1). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A series of events has recently occurred to cause the passage of PPACA. Economics are explicitly linked to health care. In the United States, health care coverage is provided primarily through an employer based system. This system began in the depression era when pay was federally frozen. Companies, in an attempt to lure scarce workers, used benefits packages including health care as bait. Described as a uniquely American private social security health care system, the employer sponsored system is the cornerstone of United States health care system (Blumenthal, 2006). This system has left many un or under insured. Blumenthal states (2006), The United States dependence on employer sponsored insurance means that the protection of its citizens against the costs of illness depends directly on the ability of private businesses to manage and absorb health care expenses that have defied all efforts to contain them. Recently, economic downturn and the need to reduce expenses to better compete on the global market has caused many companies to both reduce their insurance benefits package and their work force causing many to lose their health care coverage. • 23. Blues Boundaries And The Blues Angela Davis Analysis Rebekah Scarborough 15 December 2017 History of the Blues Professor House Did Angela Davis get it wrong? As a consequence of slavery and segregation, Angela Y. Davis contends in Blues Legacies and Black Feminism, her study of the recordings of Billie Holiday and the blues vaudevillians Gertrude (Ma) Rainey and Bessie Smith, black social consciousness has been overdetermined by race, with too little attention paid to sex and virtually none to class. Davis, a professor of something called the history of consciousness at the University of California, Santa Cruz, would have a hard time selling such a notion to this country s black poor, who are understandably inclined to blame the legacy of white racism for their poverty. But she s right in step with the more radical of her academic colleagues, even if her ingrained cultural nationalism prevents her from joining them in dismissing race as an arbitrary social construct with no basis in anthropology. Race, according to current academic thinking, is a smokescreen that has drawn discussion away from the more crucial issue of class. If this sounds suspiciously like Marxism, it is Marxism gone post modern: a tool for the analysis of literary and other texts, not necessarily a call for the exploited masses to rise. One of the side effects of this recent trend has been to restore the credibility of certain black intellectuals and activists of the 1960 s and 70 s, whose Marxist ideals might otherwise make them seem like relics not of their own day but of the 1930 s. Davis made the news in 1969, when

This telescope would be able to reveal clearer images of far off objects than any of the telescopes we have on Earth. This telescope was eventually known as the James Webb Telescope. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My evidence proves that the JWTS can help search for these things because even though we have many infrared telescopes on Earth, the best place to do it is in space, because of how bright the atmosphere glows in infrared light. This will allow us to better understand how the universe, galaxies, stars, and planets came to be. Also, infrared light pierces through layers of dust that can hide objects in space, allowing the Webb, with its cutting edge technology, to see the objects that are hidden. This proves we can use EMR to see things that can t be seen because the universe is expanding, and visible light stretches as it travels through space, turning it into infrared light. Which makes distant stars and galaxies seem out of sight. Not to mention, Webb s vision will be able to see the flicker of the first galaxies popping into existence in the early universe. It will chart the growth of galaxies from being shapeless masses to being huge spiral shapes that may be home to new planets and solar systems.
