Define the type of deal in YCB transaction

However luckily Marten is under a legendary senior partner Sandy, the reputation of Sandy will
become an advantage in this deal, it can massively reduce the chance that Marten get drive off by
the CEO.
After have a meeting with the CEO, investment capital will be the main concern in this stage.
Compare with the other two transactions the price of Yellowstone Cattle Bank equity1 is the
cheapest and even can achieve the level to use the word attractive. In this case due to the cheaper
price of YCB, it reduces the pressure by seeking the investment capital. On the other hand because
of the industry essential and business model, it is impossible that YCB would carry a large

buy out this company by using the LBO method.
After the consideration of initiate investment capital, the next step will be managing the company.
The background illustrated that YCB was the 44th largest payment processing company by volume

Synthetic Meshes Essay
1.4.8 Performance of synthetic meshes Synthetic meshes have been widely used through decades as
a routine to solve also the most complicated cases, even in cases of clean contamination with severe
comorbidity [202]. The biological response to prosthetic meshes can be characterized by the foreign
body reaction, the formation of collagenous tissue, neoperitonealization and neovascularization.
Different meshes differ in their host tissue integration. Some studies reported signifficant less
strength of host tissue integration for ePTFE or ePTFE containing meshes than other mesh
materials [203 205]. ePTFE (DualMeshВ®) has been compared with polypropylene
(SeprameshTM) in two experimental studies. After 1 month, SeprameshTM showed 30% stronger...

ParietexTM and ParieteneTM Composite showed to produce fewer adhesions than SeprameshВ®

ComposixTM [205]. An experimental study compared ProleneВ®, DualMeshВ®, UltraproВ®,
TiMeshВ®, SeprameshTM, ParietexTM Composite, ProceedВ® and TutomeshВ® regarding
adhesion formation (7 and 30 postoperative days). On postoperative day 30, ParietexTM
Composite, TutomeshВ® and SeprameshTM reported the smallest amount of adhesions. In a
recent study, the adhesion profiles of MarlexTM and BardВ® Soft either exposed directly to the
viscera or protected with VicrylВ® mesh were evaluated. MarlexTM showed smallest adhesion
score and the use of VicrylВ® as a separating layer did not reduce adhesions [210]. Few human
studies concerning intraperitoneal adhesions have been published. Balique et al. [211] evaluated
adhesion formation by ultrasound examination. 29 of 80 patients had hernia repair using
ParietexTM Composite. After 12 months, 86% of the patients were adhesion free. Another study
compared ventral hernia repair with ParietexTM Composite and MersileneВ®. 77% of the
patients in the MersileneВ® group exhibited visceral adhesion to the mesh, while 18% of the
patients in the ParietexTM Composite group presented this complication [212]. The occurrence of
adhesions in patients who previously had a hernia repair with ePTFE mesh (DualMeshВ®) was
investigated by Koehler et al. [213]. 91% of the patients were described

Early Educator Concepts
1.Select and identify TWO concepts presented in the video you find significant as an early educator
and explain why you selected these concepts (7 descriptive/detailed sentences)
The most significant aspect of Bank Street school that I enjoyed was their commitment to educating
not only their students but the teachers as well. The building houses classrooms for children from
nursery school to 8th grade, as well as, a grad school which furthers the education of their teachers
and instructs them on how to be better educators. This is a new concept to me because I have
never heard of a school educating children and adults at the same time.
Another concept I found significant is their ongoing focus towards teaching concepts close to the
children s lives. For example, they focus on self and family in kindergarten, then they expand out to

Personally, I have always had a natural ability with children, especially those who are nursery
and toddler aged. However, it wasn t until I started attending GCC that I realized how valuable a
formal education can be. I have learned how children develop over the course of their early
years, as well as, how to incorporate valuable lessons into the daily activities we do together. I
have gained a better understanding of the milestones children will hit and now understand of a
child s development. Now I recognize that they do not always master a skill in a linear fashion and
that sometimes they will take one step forward and then two steps back when learning a new skill.
When I discovered that Bank Street continues to educate their teachers in child development, my
belief that ongoing education is a critical part of a teacher s development was confirmed. As they
say, becoming a teacher ensures you are a life time learner, an individual who will constantly need
to focus on staying up to date with children s development and

What Is A Restaurant Planning
Production Needs Milestone 2 The part of opening a new restaurant location is choosing the
location so that the plans can be drawn up. I decided that using an existing building is the best
option for both price and time. By utilizing an existing building, the permits will be cheaper since
most tenant improvements don t require permits. If the location previously was a restaurant, then
the kitchen will already have gas ran into it. With the location decided we can bring in the architect
to draw up the building plans and get them submitted for permits. This should take 1 to 6 months
depending on how busy the architect and permitting office is. Once you have the building permits
the contractor can begin construction. According to Aaron Allen... Show more content on

Lean Management
In the production of a restaurant the first lean management principal of finding what creates value
for the customer (Russell Taylor, 2016), can be applied during the concept of the restaurant. By
determining what is valuable you can plan around it. If you determine that the guests come to the
restaurant for the quality of food and great service, then we can develop a menu that meets or
exceeds expectations. The sequence of activities would be the chefs in the kitchen preparing the
food for the guests to enjoy while the server tends to the guest s immediate needs such as taking
their drink order and filling it for them. The server might also be asked for suggestions of wines
to pair with the meal they just ordered. The third is the process of identifying waste in the value
stream and removing it. In the construction of the building the designer will need to look at the
flow of traffic and see if there is anything that can be done to reduce wasteful tasks (Russell
Taylor, 2016). This includes considering how many steps it takes to get something out of the
fridge or how far the chef needs to go to get a mixing bowl or tools. The cooks and servers must
also pay attention to these as well to minimize waste. The designer should also pay attention to
green technology available to them in the design phase. This is

Racial Inequality And Discrimination Of Child Welfare
I. Conceptualize Framework
Racial disproportionality and disparity in child welfare represents a complex phenomenon
emanating from historical theoretical socioeconomic and policy trends that has shaped this service
over the past several decades. There are many theories that have been proposed explain why racial
disproportionality and disparity exists in child welfare. It has been recognized the underlying roots
of racial disproportionality and disparity are complex and often coexists. Racial disproportionate
in child welfare will be the focus of this research. I will focus on is Racial Bias and Discrimination
of child welfare agencies, particularly the child protective services.
The literature suggest the one of the reason for over representation of minority(colored) children in
child welfare results from the different treatment of race or racial bias (attitudinal dimension) an
discrimination (behavioral dimension) (mortion, 1999; Roberts, 2002). This theory also suggests,
this treatment can be external or internal in the welfare system; however I will focus only on the
implication of internal welfare agencies (i.e. child protective specialist). Child protective specialists
culture and policies may lead to inequitable treatment of families of color. CPS workers may have
biases towards families of color which could affect the decision making at any point of the
investigation. This may not have occurred intentionally by the worker however due to institutional
racism which

The Cultural Elements Of Kaffir Boy By Mark Mathabane
The Cultural Elements of Kaffir Boy Kaffir Boy by Mark Mathabane is an incredibly complex
novel detailing the author s childhood and coming of age in a South Africa gripped by apartheid. It
also describes his steadfast pursuit of tennis as a means of escaping the aforementioned system that
legalized and even encouraged racism. Though the autobiography captures copious personal
struggles and internal conflicts, the elements of the text that truly stand out are the cultural ones
these being the elements of society, religion, and politics. The most prevalent of these cultural
elements, and the first one introduced to the reader, is the social element. On the very first page of
chapter one, Mathabane states that, The white man of South Africacertainly does not know me. He
certainly does not know the conditions under which I was born and had to live for eighteen
years. So my story is intended to show him with words a world he would otherwise not see
because of a sign and a conscience racked with guilt and to make him feel what I felt when he
contemptuously called me a Kaffir boy. (Mathabane 3). Issues of race and racism are the more
frequently described types of social element in Kaffir Boy , however, the power struggle between
Mathabane s mother and father is also discussed. When Mathabane s father is arrested or away for
a long period of time, his mother seizes control of the household. She brings in the food and the
money. Upon the return of his father, she is

Firewalls will be placed between the web servers and the outer edge of the network, facing the
Internet. Such a configuration, called a demilitarized zone (DMZ), will provide an additional
layer of defense from a network breach. If the web servers are compromised, there will be an
additional barrier between them and the intranet. The firewalls will be configured to deny
everything, and then the ports that are needed for the functioning of the network will be
allowed. For the sake of expense and administrative simplicity, the firewall will be a stateful
packet filter firewall, as opposed to an application proxy firewall, which would offer higher
security and configurability at the expense of administrative complexity due to the need for a
proxy for each application in use by the company. The packet filtering firewall filters traffic
based on predefined rules. A network based IDS will be used on all network subnets and the
system will be anomaly based. An anomaly based IDS is preferable for its ability to detect zero
day attacks. With a signature based IDS, the system uses a set of definitions to detect threats and the
definitions must be updated on a regular and ongoing schedule. The system will be passive in its
functioning, in that it will not stop threats that it detects. Rather the IDS will send notifications to
the IT staff that are tasked with the security of the network. The IT staff will then

This type of intervention will be used because having students simply look up definitions in a
dictionary for unknown words doesn t typically result in a transfer of word knowledge to
reading comprehension tasks. First, the clinician will select a list of words from a curricular
topic and other words that are new but don t fit with the topic, and present the words to Chloe in
oral and written form. Chloe will be encouraged to engage in exclusive brainstorming in which
she discusses the words and decides which words go with their topic for the day and which don

individual word. The clinician will then provide a description, explanation, or example of the
new terms to relate the word to curricular topics. Chloe will then be asked to restate the
description, explanation, or example of each term in her own words, by connecting it to her
experiences or knowledge. Chloe will be instructed to create a picture, pictograph, or symbolic
representation of the term as well as, including the word, definition, and picture. She will keep

The Chaser, By John Collier
John Collier s The Chaser , a short story that follows Alan Austen, a character who shows typically
feminine or androgynous traits, displaying Alan being timid, easily manipulated, cowardly, and
inevitably, the harbinger of his own destruction. The Chaser features Alan seeking out an old man
for a love potionto make Diana fall in love with him. From a sophisticated genderperspective, the
Chaser is shown to be patriarchal to start, with androgynous areas that end with the story being
heavily androgynous. Based on text in the story and underlying themes, The Chaser is Feminine

that inevitably, someone will come to buy the poison, whether it be Diana to kill Alan, or Alan to

Essay on Karen Horney s The Distrust Between the Sexes
Karen Horney s The Distrust Between the Sexes
In Karen Horney s The Distrust Between the Sexes, she attempts to explain the problems in the
relationships between men and women. She writes that to understand the problem you must first
understand that problems stem from a common background. A large amount of suspiciousness is
due to people s intensity of emotions.
Early in Horney s essay, she defines passion and discusses why it is rare. People do not feel safe
putting all of their faith and trust in only one other person. Horney explains that self preservation is
part of human instinct, and people have a fear of losing themselves in their loved one.
Next, Horney explains how people often overlook their own impulses. The ... Show more content on

Next Horney explains that children undergo painful experiences of being betrayed and lied to.
They may also have to submit to taking second place to a family member. The child is helpless in
all of this and the child s only way to vent fury and anger is in the form of extravagant fantasies.
These fantasies are often brutal, criminal, and destructive in nature. The child s inability to
understand these destructive forces makes them equally fearful of adults.
Horney goes on to explain the later childhood side of relationship fears. A little girl who represses
her wish, due to a guilty conscience, would grow up projecting that wish on every male. Often she
will shy away from accepting or demanding anything from her husband. This can leads her into a
depressed state under which she will shift the responsibility of helplessness onto the man. Under the
guise of being helpless, she thus dominates her man.
In the middle of Horney s paper she gets into the traits of male psychology. She gives many
examples of how men hold women in high esteem, but writes that they have a secret distrust of
women. One of Horney s best examples would have to be the story of Adam and Eve. The story
devalues women s ability to give birth, and makes them seem to be sexual temptresses. It is the
sexually attractive female that man is afraid of. Women are considered to be deeply rooted in their
emotions. This is often men s excuse for

The Civil Rights Movement vs. The Black Liberation...
On The Duty of Civil Disobedience, written by Henry David Thoreau, explains that civil
disobedience is the act of standing for your beliefs even though they are against the law. Thoreau
goes on to say that the government (because it is ruled by the majority) is not always right for
everyone especially the individual and the minority. Over the course of American history, there
have been many different groups formed for the purpose of civil disobedience. The two that I am
going to focus on are the activists of the Civil Rights Movement and the Black Panthers of the
Black Liberation Movement. The Civil Rights Movement began in 1954 with the case of Brown

The purpose if this movement was to gain equality for
Black Americans. The activists of the Civil Rights Movement were protesting for things like the
integration of schools and other public places, and equal rights under the law. Martin Luther King
was striving for his people to be seen and treated as equals to their white counterparts. The protest
would mostly consist of sit ins, marching, and boycotting. The activists of this movement preached
non violence and peaceful protest. For example, during many sit ins the police would get involved.
Usually this meant violence, but not by the civil rights activists who were taught not to retaliate.
The protestors would take brutal beatings and do nothing in return (Small). On the other hand is
the Black Liberation movement, which was headed by the Black Panthers. This movement leaned
more towards black separation in order to form their own equal communities. The Panthers
believed that Black Americans would never be equals in a white world and therefore they must
form their own. Not only did the Black Liberation Movement believe in separation, they also
believed that aggression was needed to reach this goal. In the official Black Panther Party Platform

Key Differences Between Torsion And Suspension Bridges
Humans have encountered numerous obstacles in our environments that stand in the way of the
ultimate goal of connectedness between all areas of earth. These obstacles may come in the
form of mountains, oceans, canyons, or desserts. We employ the use of many different
technologies to aid in traversing these obstacles. One technology we have developed to cross
large distances such as canyons or bodies of water is the bridge. Over the centuries, we have
developed several variations of the bridge that vary in technological advancement and the capacity
to cross longer distances. These bridge variations include the simple beam bridge, truss bridges,
arch bridges, suspension bridges, and cable stayed bridges. The key differences between these
bridges... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These include torsion, shear, and resonance. Torsion is a force of twisting, and is somewhat
similar to tension. In example of torsion is the force you apply when you twist a cloth. Different
materials handle torsion very differently. For example, if you twist a wooden bat, it will not
break, and if you twist a piece of licorice, it will twist around itself several times without
breaking. They both handle the force different ways, wood stays stiff, and licorice flexes and
stretches to endure more force (Garrett Boon 10/31/17). Suspension bridges are particularly
susceptible to torsion, as high winds can cause the road deck to twist and rotate. One way that
engineers help to reduce torsion force on suspension bridges is to design deck stiffening truss
systems to further stiffen the road deck. In the case of extremely long suspension bridges
however, the deck truss is not enough, and engineers need to include more aerodynamic truss
systems and diagonal support cables in order to protect against torsion (Robert Lamb and
Michael Morrissey 10/6/17). Arch and Beam bridges are mostly immune to this force due to
their rigid structure and truss system for beam bridges. Shear is more similar to compression
than it is to tension. It occurs when two forces act in opposing direction on the same point. An
example of shear forces is if you were to hold a plank or piece of wood using two hands. If you
pushed up with one hand and down with the other hand, then you would be applying shear force
to that piece of wood. Shear more commonly occurs horizontally rather than vertically (Garrett
Boon 10/31/17). Shear occurs in bridges when the weight of the bridge itself or the weight of the
load on the bridge causes materials to slide by each other or shear off. An overload of weight on the
bridge can cause

Essay on The Function of the Articles of Confederation
Politics began to play a bigger role in the lives of American colonists during the beginning of a
growing country. After the Declaration of Independence was written in 1776, the country was
challenged with the problem of creating a process for governing the states. The Patriots were
concerned about forming a centralized Parliament, like in Britain, because power was abused by the
wealthy. Initially, the vision was to give states governing authority and leave minimal power to a
national Union. But as the years passed and conflicts arose, there was a need to create a national
government using the U.S Constitution as the blueprint.
The focus of the paper is to learn what led to the formation of the U.S. Constitution. First, it s ...

The bicameral legislative concept ran into a number of roadblocks. The main disagreement was
deciding who had the right to vote. Democratic Patriots wanted equal rights for all free men, even
those who were poor. In most states, conservatives disagreed and felt strongly that poor men
should not vote because their vote would confound and destroy all distinctions and prostrate all
ranks to the common level (Lapsansky Werner, Levy, Roberts, Taylor, 134). As the debate lingered,
most free men qualified to vote because they owned farms, but slaves and women were not given
voting rights.
Another debate centered on religious freedom. Most states supported freedom of religion in their
constitution, and with time religious liberty, without the interference of the state, became common
from state to state with the exception of Massachusetts and Connecticut (Lapsansky Werner, Levy,
Roberts, Taylor, 135). The religious controversy was aided with the passage of the Virginia Statute
for Religious Freedom in 1786 which was written by Thomas Jefferson. This was extremely
influential legislation because it became the forerunner of the first amendment protections for
religious freedom (The Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union, Online). The first
constitution of the United States was called the Articles of Confederation. It was drafted in 1777
and adopted in 1781 by the same Continental Congress that passed the Declaration of Independence.

young, he lied to the Nazis and everyone else who he encountered. He had to hide his Jewish
identity and was always afraid of being exposed. When he was older, many believe Kosinski
plagiarized other s works and required his assistants to sign false releases for him. He was also a
pathological liar. Because of these things, he was at risk of being exposed just like he had been in

Racial Diversity In Media
Racial Diversity is a sensitive topic, especially with all of the current controversy about race. One
specific issue pertaining to this is the portrayal and representation of Asian people in media (i.e.
television, movies, magazines, etc.). I hope to bring awareness to this controversial matter in a
respectful and peaceful manner through in depth research. As an Asian American woman, I am
extremely passionate about this issue because it hits home. I live in a society where there is not a
lot of representation or people I can directly relate to in media. While watching TV shows and
movies, I have noticed that all of the actors and actresses are predominantly Caucasian and when an
Asian actoror actress is casted, he/she is cast as the supporting character or a villain. Growing up in
an Asian household where you are taught to be proud of your heritage and watching these shows
and movies was not something that made me want to have pride in my ancestry. It left me without a
strong Asian Americanrole model in my childhood; someone I could aspire to be. People often
assume that if a show or movie contains one racially diverse person, it should be considered
diverse ; this assumption or viewpoint is completely absurd. This is further described as
tokenism, the practice of making only a perfunctory or symbolic effort to do a particular thing,
especially by recruiting a small number of people from underrepresented groups in order to give
the appearance of sexual or racial equality

Childhood Psychological Abuse Paper
In this paper, childhood psychological abuse will be referred to as acts of commission or
omission towards a child by the primary caregiver which involves risk of causing potential harm or
substantial harm to the child s health, survival or development (Child Family Community Australia
(CFCA), 2015 WHO, 2017). More specifically physical abuseis an act of violence with the use of
intentional physical force resulting in a non accidental injury or physical trauma (Department of
Communities, Child Safety Disability, 2017 and NSPCC, 2017). Physical abuse occurs in a variety
of forms including; hitting, shaking, throwing objects, burning, biting, slapping, kicking, punching

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)
Important Reminders When Getting Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy [PART I]
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) also known as natural hormone therapy
works when Bioidentical hormones act in the body just like the hormones we produce. It is
primarily used to reduce the symptoms of menopause. Today, it is also used for clinical testing of
blood and saliva, for anti aging purposes, and overall improving the quality of life for women who
have symptoms of menopause.
Bioidentical hormones have the exact molecular structure of those endogenous or natural hormones
in a person s body and produce the same physiochemical responses. However, only a few women
understand the importance of bioidentical hormones because they are mostly focused on the source
of the hormones rather than the effects produced. If BHRT is not given appropriately, it may lead
to different risks memory loss, weight gain, fibrocystic breasts, mood ... Show more content on

The angles that women should know are these three (3) important reminders, especially when
talking about covering hormone supplementation.
Reminder #1 Choose BHRT when you are truly deficient with hormones
This is common sense. You should not take insulin when you still have enough. Some women get
paranoid over the notion that they are reaching 40 and that means menopause and menopause mean
you become estrogen deficient. Yes, we understand that you do not want them to leave the building.
But BHRT is for people who have the hormone deficiency.
The typical assumption of the conventional medicine is that women after menopause become
deficient with estrogen; however, this assumption is false. However, all credible experts agree that
over 66% of women ages 80 and up still continue to make all the estrogen they need. Because of an
aromatase enzyme, women still make estrogen even with the ovaries removed.
You would know that you have enough estrogen in the body when:

Research Essay on Southeast Asia
IH202: Southeast Asia: The Rice that Binds? Research Essay (10%) The definition of the phrase
Settlement pattern is associated with the understanding of how a particular society used the
available resources in its region. The phrase can also be described as the actual land upon which a
settlement is built. So what exactly is the pattern of settlements in Southeast Asia? Some say that
the pattern of human settlement in Southeast Asia is dispersed settlements where buildings are
spread out; an example would be the rural areas of Philippines, where different villages are at
different parts of the country. Others say that it s more like linear settlements that grow in a line,
often alongside roads, river valleys or the coast, for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This not only makes similar settlers more comfortable to fit in but it also makes the community
more bonded. Climate also affects settlement patterns in numerous ways. Colder countries tend to
have lesser population than warmer countries. For example, Alaska has the smallest population
in the United States. Extreme climate conditions may play a role too, Sometimes it is even
impossible to inhabit that area, due to the weather conditions. A land s geographical location can
determine whether an area has higher risk of experiencing an earthquake or not. Singapore is
considered very blessed as her geographical location is very well shielded by other larger
countries like Malaysia and Indonesia. Furthermore, we do not sit on the earthquake belt. However
Japan and Indonesia are less fortunate, as they are located right on the earthquake belt and are
constantly experiencing earthquake every now and then. If your settlement is located nearby to a
river, there will be a reliable source of food and transportation which adds to the land s desirability.
Some people are drawn to coastal areas as these areas offer a number of recreational activities, such
as surfing or wakeboarding and access to water transportation. Maybe they also appreciate the value
of waterfront property. In this essay, I have come to the conclusion that Southeast Asia has more
than one pattern of settlements. Instead, it has three, namely, the dispersal settlement, the linear
settlement and the nucleated

Gandhi. Columbia Pictures, 1982. Gandhi is a biopic produced by Richard Attenborough
whose lifelong dream was to make the story of the national independence leader s life into a
movie. The movie starts with Mohandas K. Gandhi, played by actor Ben Kingsley, rejecting all
material possessions in pursuit of India s independence. The storyline plays out to highlight
important aspect of Gandhi s life and ends with his assassination, where he utters the famous
lines Oh god. Critics claim the movie is over exaggerated, however Attenborough does a fine job
of bringing a visual of Gandhi s life into Western eyes. In addition, what could be a bad thing
ends up being a good thing for the layman who watches this movie. Attenborough oversimplifies
Gandhi s perspectives and ideas on social justice and religion, which leads to a very simple
explanation of Gandhi s philosophy. Friedman, Joseph S. (2008) Mahatma Gandhi s Vision for the

Mr. Lockwood (the initial master of the Wuthering Heights) was strict but still kinder.
The tussle between Mr. Heathcliff (poor)and Mr. Lockwood s eldest son(rich) serves as a metaphor.
It also brings to notice the ever ongoing tussle between the will of heart and the will of the

Traditional Methods And Styles Of Leadership Styles
Today there are a lot of organizations that are consistently changing their leadership styles to
motivate their teammates. Traditional methods and styles of leadership must change to meet the
changing environment (Sims, 2002, p.242). As a leader you must use the best leadership style that
will work best for you that will in due time work in the better interest of the company. You must
learn to use different styles because different situations call for different actions. Choosing the right
type of style, at the right time, in the right situation makes a good leader. With each style you have
to have good communication skills so the leader can communicate with the group and of course
people outside of the group. This requires listening,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This style is not about bossing the crew around it s about managing to them how to run the
company properly and successfully. It is best used for employees who don t know their job well
or for new employees who don t know their job at all. This style will make it better on the
employee because they will receive coaching and they will better perfect their job. Being a
successful leader requires courage, flexibility and capability to enhance an effective organization.
You can use any of the styles that works for you but you have to have great characteristics to go
along with it. Authoritarian leaders tend to fail their organization because they don t have any
creativity or development towards their foundation. Creativity involves more than one person it
involves a team. Usually this type of leader do not accept anyone s input but their own and then
problems start to occur where the team begins to think the leader is demanding, egotistical, or just
plain out bossy. Using the authoritarian style doesn t make leaders bossy but only using this style
does. For authoritarian to work well it requires understanding, abiding, and hard working
individuals. This style would not work for members who want their voice heard. The employee
must be able to trust their employer and put all faith into them.

Persepolis represent the Immortals as wearing elaborate robes and golden jewellery, although these
garments would have only been worn for ceremonial occasions as they would be impractical in
warfare. Cyrus the Great was the founder of the Immortals. During Cyrus s conquests, 10,000 of his

Ever since the beginning of time, man was infatuated by visiting, seeing and interacting with other
societies. Over time globalization, as it was termed, accelerated at an exponential rate. There were
two rather recent major periods of globalization over the past five hundred years, one which began
in the late fifteenth century and the other started in the middle of the twentieth century. Each of
these new eras marked developments in advancements in communication, human rights, woman s
rights, religiosity and philosophy, technology and lastly in economics. Europeans in the late
fifteenth century were driven to explore. Shipping by sea was becoming popular. In the 1400s
many European monarchs faced a problem, as they tried to import spices and silks from China and
India, they were threatened by the Ottoman Empire who controlled Eastern Europeas well as the
Venetian traders who economically ruled the Mediterranean Sea with high tariffs. To avoid being
subservient to the Ottomans and Venice, the monarchies of Spainand Portugal, as well as other
European countries began commissioning fleets of trading ships to find a route to Asia
circumventing those locations. The Europeans discovered that by traveling below Africathrough the
Cape of Good Hope they could reach Asia without much problems. These ships needed to find
places to port and the Europeans began setting up port cities along the African coastline. Originally

The standard model of particle physics and why it is not the complete picture
According to the standard model there are matter particles and there are force carrier particles. The
matter particles are the 6 quarks and 6 leptons. The quarks come in three generations. The first
generation is the up quark and the down quark. The second generation is the charm quark and the
strange quark. The third generation is the top quark and the bottom quark. The quarks also have a
property that is called colour. They can be red, blue, green, antired, antiblue or antigreen. The
property colour, does not refer to actual colour. Colour is meaningless on that scale. The quarks
combine to form white.
The six leptons are the electron, the electron neutrino. the muon, the muon neutrino, the tau and the
tau neutrino. The neutrinos have very small mass and are neutral in electric charge, while the other
leptons have a larger mass and have electric charge.
There are also the force carrier particles. There are four forces, the electromagnetic force, the weak
force, the strong force and gravity. For each force there is a boson. The

Ancient Greek Legacy Essay
Trip Griffin History The Legacy of Ancient Greece
Ancient Greece s legacy contains numerous topics that influence our modern day life including Art
and Architecture, Drama and History, War, Democracy, Science and Technology, and Philosophy.
My guess is that a lot of students will focus on Democracy. However, while it is quite important to
western culture, I have decided to focus on three examples of things that were very interesting to
me Mathematics and Physics, Comedy and Architecture.
First, Math and Physics. Math and science are the reasons we can understand our surrounds and
how on the largest and smallest scale, how stuff works. The Ancient Greek mathematicians used
geometry text compiled by Euclid (for example Euclidean geometry). They also used the
Pythagorean Theorem that was earlier discovered by the Chinese, but was used much more widely
in Ancient Greece. In scien¬ce, Archimedes of Syracuse, estimated the value of pi the ratio of the
circumference of a circle to its diameter. As you can see, the Ancient Greeks contributed
significantly to the math and physics we use today and are learning in school.

From my perspective she was always taking in the environment using all of her senses, taste of

did not seem to get any value out of it she took it out of her mouth and put it down right away.
Almost as if she was able to perceive that it would not feed her or do much for her. Her eyes
never were fixed on one spot for longer than a few minutes either. She constantly was looking
around, really observing everything that was around her. By two months Adeline is able to not
only stare at faces but also start to perceived them and by three months, she will start to focus

Thesis On Manliness And Civilization
Introduction
Manliness Civilization: A Cultural History of Gender and Race in the United States is an intensive
analysis of how assumptions about race, gender, and the perfection of civilization shaped thought
and behavior in the US between 1890 and 1915. For its author, Gail Bederman, despite race and
gender are two different categories, society have connected them so that they should be understood
together. Both categories are connected in relevant to civilization as the social perfection idealized
by Darwinism had designated white men as the most superior. During the particular period where
this book is focused, male dominance has been prevalent long before this period. This book will

Bederman uses Tarzan as an example in her analyzed subjects. It is worth noting that sexism and
and racism are related to one another and both support inequality. Bederman discusses how Tarzan
was the epitome of ideal manliness and masculinity because of his superior white skin, his ability of
killing and understanding, his strength on black cannibals, and his well defined and civilized
Victorian nature when he falls in love with a white woman named Jane. Bederman somewhat
documented Victorian ideal of the term manliness with its identification of proper manhood with a
powerful will, sexual self restraint, and a strong character, which gradually paved way masculinity
glorification which eventually used to suggest male sexuality, physical force and aggressiveness in
the nineteenth century (18). According to medical authorities, this nervous affliction is associated
with the ideal of manliness because they thought its demands modern civilization placed upon such

Nucor Steel Case Study
There are many competitive forces that are affecting Nucor Corporation. Some of the primary
ones are the market size, number of rivals, and pace of technological change. The market size is
shrinking because of the increase in competing international steel companies. The number of rivals
in America is declining due to higher labor costs than in foreign countries. There is a very fast pace
of technology in the steelindustry and it seems that the company, that obtains the newest
technology, flourishes. This is due to the difficulty in lower costs of steel production. Better
technology is one of the only ways to decrease costs because labor is pretty much at a set cost and

It seems that the companies, who obtain these technologies, obtain a significant head start in the
industry.
Like I said before, many companies are going bankrupt and are leaving the exiting the industry.
Since steel is a commodity it leads to very volatile prices and can change quite frequently due to
demand. By looking at Exhibit 1, you can see how the average price per ton decreased form $425
per ton in 2000 to $354 per ton in 2001. This exhibit shows how many tons of steel Nucor sold
during certain years from 1970 to 2006. It is interesting to see that Nucor s net income was fairly
low during the years of 2000 2002, but increased to $1,121.5 million. This is because of Nucor s
many acquisitions during the low period. Just a few years later in 2004, the price of steel was back
up to $595 per ton.
These driving forces very easily impact the steel industry s competitive structure in a bad way.
These driving forces make it very difficult for steel companies to compete in this industry.
3)The prospects for future profitability of the U.S. steel makers are very unattractive. Unless
America can successfully combat China s enormously, inexpensive, production ability, I do not see
any American steel company surviving. China just has too big of a production ability and has the
workforce to do it cheaply. Nucor will have to expand in this industry in the United States to

Biological Effects from Exposure to Second-Hand Smoke
Recently, there has been a lot of up to date evidence dealing with biological effects from exposure
to second hand smoke. A lot of people aren t educated about this topic, but second hand smoke can
harm someone almost as much as someone who actually smokes, depending on how often he/she is

researchers have found second hand smoke causing lifetime damage, and many other negative
effects to children as they grow. Smokingbans in certain areas around the world has caused the
number of children s hospital visits for asthmato drop significantly (Louis 1). Children are also
greatly affected by second hand smoke and some parents do not realize the harm that they are
causing to their young children. Young children are growing fast and their lungs are also
growing very fast and second hand smoke can seriously damage their lungs temporarily or even
permanently. Children can t walk away from second hand smoke, either because they are too
young to walk or their parents won t let them. When children are riding in the back of a car and

curve. A curveball spins from top to bottom, opposite of a fastball, which spins from bottom to
top. The ball is given curve by snapping the wrist as it is thrown (Griesmer, 2014). The air
flowing under the ball is caused by the existence of air resistance. Air resistance is also called
drag, and it is the forces opposing an object in motion through the air. They act opposite to the
direction of the object s velocity, and they depend directly on velocity. The ball flying through
the air meets the opposing force of air resistance, which causes air to flow under the ball creating
low pressure, and air to flow over the top of the ball creating an area of high pressure. If the ball
lacked spin, the air would simply flow around the ball, rather than over it and under it. Throwing
a curveball causes the ball to deviate from the straight path of the pitcher to the catcher, and it
also causes the ball to drop suddenly before it reaches the batter. As the ball is flying through the
air, it deviates slightly from the straight path a fastball would normally take. Although it only
deviates from the straight path by a few inches, from the point of view of the batter it looks as if
the ball curves about 15 inches from the straight

Gender Roles In The Daughters Of England
The text The Daughters of England , is a book written to provide guidance for young women,
pertaining to their character and behaviour; the book creates the framework for the role of women
in the household. It instructs that women must offer a virtuous influence on men as wives, mothers,
and daughters as part of their role within society. Estimated to have been written in 1842, in
London, Daughters of England was penned by Sarah Stickney Ellis; a popular author of Victorian
conduct literature. Ellis popularity implies that the source was widely circulated at the time, thus
represents an important view of contemporary society. This document reveals to us the ideals
expected of middle classwomen of the time, and the principles that were envisioned for them,
relating in particular to the separate spheres ideology.
This ideology outlines and endorses separate spheres for women and men, the domestic and public
spheres. This idea derived from the natural features of each gender. As women were considered to
be physically weaker than men, they were more suitable to belong to the private sphere. As Ellis
writes, women s strength is in her influence , demonstrating the view that, though physically fragile,
women were morally superior to men.
Raised in a single parent household, Ellis developed a strong sense of morals regarding home
life. Having helped raise her siblings, we can infer that this influenced her belief in the importance
of women in a matriarchal role. Ellis writes of the necessity to be educated properly, stating that
school education forms but a very small part of that which they will be expected to possess . This
statement can be reinforced from the Victorian notion that a womanof the upper or middle class,
though did receive an education, were expected to become accomplished as opposed to
academically knowledgeable. , thus Ellis s writings can be regarded as typical of the time.
The source tells young women that they must be content to be inferior to men , a statement that
corroborates with the contemporary laws of England. Society was deeply patriarchal, with men
legally authorised to use physical violence to chastise his wife as she belonged to him. Women who
wanted to separate

Similarities Between Thomas More And King Henry
Instead of inflicting these horrible punishments, it would be far more to point to provide
everyone with some means of livelihood, so that nobody s under the frightful necessity of
becoming first a thief and then a corpse. (Thomas More). In the 1500s the new leader of England
was King Henry. He was married but wanted a divorce. In order to do so, he had to ask the pope
for permission but the pope rejected his wish. King Henry wanted to take over the church to do
what he wanted. Thomas More and King Henry were good friends but Thomas did not agree with
king Henry and him taking over the church. Thomas had to sign an oath for the king becoming the
head of the church. But Thomas refused to do so.Thomas More was true to himself and stood up for

Comparing The Bhagavad Gita And The Upanishads
As any other society, India and Greece underwent changes that transformed their thoughts, beliefs,
social order, and their idea about this world. Most of these changes were experienced during the
Axial Age and the Age of Iron. These periods in history made people question themselves about
topics such as life, the world, death, the soul, etc. People attempted to answer these questions
through ideas, philosophies, and myths. India gave birth to Hinduism which expanded quickly.
This spiritual tradition focused on finding peace and eternal tranquility rather than temporary
satisfaction from the worldly pleasures. In order to transmit the idea to other people and guide
them through it, they came up with different writings to illustrate this. The Bhagavad Gita and
the Upanishads are popular writings that exemplify the beliefs and thoughts of Hinduism. The
Bhagavad Gita addresses the question about how a person can be one with Brahman, the
universal soul or god, while living in this world. This document is set as a dialogue between the
warrior Arjuna and his guide and charioteer Krishna. Arjuna is being encouraged by Krishna to
fulfill his duty as a warrior and part of the Kshatriyas, one of the higher divisions in the caste
system. Arjuna has to enter this battle and fight in order to live up to his duty and consequently
live free from attachments and walk in the path of finding himself as one with Brahman. On the
other hand, the Upanishads guided all kinds of people regardless of

Eglin Pkwy Research Papers
Accidents on the road happen daily. Reducing the likelihood of an accident requires the
enforcement of necessary traffic laws and the use of appropriate safety measures. On occasion,
however, certain safety measures are not taken or enforced when they should be. One such
place that has great need for such measures is the intersection of Eglin Pkwy and 12th Ave in
Shalimar Florida. The Eglin Pkwy and 12th Ave intersection is a very familiar place for most
locals. Here Richbourg Ave coincides with 12th Ave and intersecting Eglin Pkwy. Going north on
Eglin Pkwy one would find Shalimar Elementary School just off to the right. Further north of the
school is Eglin Air Force Base, or Eglin , as it is commonly referred to. People coming from and
going to Eglin pass through this intersection. On the left of Richbourg Ave is Meigs Middle School
and the Fairfield Inn Suites, and on the right is the Shalimar... Show more content on

According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there were 499
pedestrian fatalities in 2011, and in 2015 that number had increased to 632, an approximately 27%
increase in fatalities. With that being said, traffic regulation should be a priority. Traffic laws are
great advocates for road safety, but a law cannot enforce itself nor can it keep everybody safe.
That is why the use of traffic and road signs is important: they enforce and they protect. For
instance, it is a generally known that you cannot exceed the speed limit of twenty miles per hour
inside a school zone; however, most people wouldn t know that they were in a school zone if there
hadn t been a sign that indicated an entrance into a school zone. In addition, while the majority of
drivers are aware that a right turn on red is legal unless otherwise prohibited, many of them wouldn
t know the requirements for a legal right turn are, as stated under Florida Statute

The Class Of African American History
Color You walk into the classroom and it s the most awkward thing ever. You regret the day you
signed up for this class...African American history. But why? Why did everyone inelegantly stare?
Why does your skin color make matters this problematic? It s essential that a class like African
American history becomes more diverse. Most assume that this class is aiming for an African
Americanaudience. This assumption is completely misleading, but most fall the underdog to. The
homogeneity society amongst the students is bare and should be altered.
I m currently enrolled in African American history. I ve noticed there aren t any people outside
of the African American race in the class. The teacher has noticed out of all 9 years he s been
teaching the class, he s had maybe 8 people that weren t African American. I feel there is no
imagined community within this learning space. In Pratt s essay she tells how Benedict
Anderson refers to an imagined community. Anderson s idea of an imagined community is
communities exist as imagined entities in which people will never know most of their fellow
members, meet them or even hear of them, yet in the minds of each other lives the image of
their communication (327). All classes are expected to be diverse and full of divergence. But
yet, we re all in some way in which most think is by race, already in deep relation. The absence of
nonconformity leaves a toll on the class, whereas we are interested in how people from different
races feel

Once again both companies have seen a reduction in this ratio over the past two years, meaning
that the company were less effective in generating sales from [it s] assets . (Leopold, A et al,
1999, 249). However implementation of liquidity ratios illustrates that the short term debt
paying ability of the companies has improved with and without the inclusion of inventories
(Jerry J et al, 2008, pg214). This is of particular interest to M S who may require financial aid to
finance the renovation of its stores. In terms of the current recession many investors may be
worried to what effect the current recession will have on Tesco and M S respectively. Another
indication of how efficient the companies are in purchasing and selling goods is the stock
turnover Ratio (J. R. Dyson, 2004, 258). As a group M S have seen this liquidity ratio shrink
over the past couple of years. Similarly Tesco Plc has also experienced the same fate but the
ratio calculated still remains high. From the perspective of an investor, M S have showed a
consistent growth of earnings per share. Figures stated in the key performance measures
highlight the significant growth of the EPS over the past five years. Similarly the five year
record of Tesco Plc also shows an increase in EPS from 15.05p to 26.95p. Both M S and Tesco s,

  • 3. Synthetic Meshes Essay 1.4.8 Performance of synthetic meshes Synthetic meshes have been widely used through decades as a routine to solve also the most complicated cases, even in cases of clean contamination with severe comorbidity [202]. The biological response to prosthetic meshes can be characterized by the foreign body reaction, the formation of collagenous tissue, neoperitonealization and neovascularization. Different meshes differ in their host tissue integration. Some studies reported signifficant less strength of host tissue integration for ePTFE or ePTFE containing meshes than other mesh materials [203 205]. ePTFE (DualMeshВ®) has been compared with polypropylene (SeprameshTM) in two experimental studies. On postoperative day 30, ParietexTM Composite, TutomeshВ® and SeprameshTM reported the smallest amount of adhesions. In a recent study, the adhesion profiles of MarlexTM and BardВ® Soft either exposed directly to the viscera or protected with VicrylВ® mesh were evaluated. MarlexTM showed smallest adhesion score and the use of VicrylВ® as a separating layer did not reduce adhesions [210]. Few human studies concerning intraperitoneal adhesions have been published. Balique et al. [211] evaluated adhesion formation by ultrasound examination. 29 of 80 patients had hernia repair using ParietexTM Composite. After 12 months, 86% of the patients were adhesion free. Another study compared ventral hernia repair with ParietexTM Composite and MersileneВ®. 77% of the patients in the MersileneВ® group exhibited visceral adhesion to the mesh, while 18% of the patients in the ParietexTM Composite group presented this complication [212]. • 4. Early Educator Concepts 1.Select and identify TWO concepts presented in the video you find significant as an early educator and explain why you selected these concepts (7 descriptive/detailed sentences) The most significant aspect of Bank Street school that I enjoyed was their commitment to educating not only their students but the teachers as well. The building houses classrooms for children from nursery school to 8th grade, as well as, a grad school which furthers the education of their teachers and instructs them on how to be better educators. This is a new concept to me because I have never heard of a school educating children and adults at the same time. Another concept I found significant is their ongoing focus towards teaching concepts close to the children s lives. For example, they focus on self and family in kindergarten, then they expand out to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Personally, I have always had a natural ability with children, especially those who are nursery and toddler aged. However, it wasn t until I started attending GCC that I realized how valuable a formal education can be. I have learned how children develop over the course of their early years, as well as, how to incorporate valuable lessons into the daily activities we do together. I have gained a better understanding of the milestones children will hit and now understand of a child s development. Now I recognize that they do not always master a skill in a linear fashion and that sometimes they will take one step forward and then two steps back when learning a new skill. When I discovered that Bank Street continues to educate their teachers in child development, my belief that ongoing education is a critical part of a teacher s development was confirmed. As they say, becoming a teacher ensures you are a life time learner, an individual who will constantly need to focus on staying up to date with children s development and ... • 5. What Is A Restaurant Planning Production Needs Milestone 2 The part of opening a new restaurant location is choosing the location so that the plans can be drawn up. I decided that using an existing building is the best option for both price and time. By utilizing an existing building, the permits will be cheaper since most tenant improvements don t require permits. If the location previously was a restaurant, then the kitchen will already have gas ran into it. With the location decided we can bring in the architect to draw up the building plans and get them submitted for permits. This should take 1 to 6 months depending on how busy the architect and permitting office is. Once you have the building permits the contractor can begin construction. According to Aaron Allen... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Keller, 2017) Lean Management In the production of a restaurant the first lean management principal of finding what creates value for the customer (Russell Taylor, 2016), can be applied during the concept of the restaurant. By determining what is valuable you can plan around it. If you determine that the guests come to the restaurant for the quality of food and great service, then we can develop a menu that meets or exceeds expectations. The sequence of activities would be the chefs in the kitchen preparing the food for the guests to enjoy while the server tends to the guest s immediate needs such as taking their drink order and filling it for them. The server might also be asked for suggestions of wines to pair with the meal they just ordered. The third is the process of identifying waste in the value stream and removing it. In the construction of the building the designer will need to look at the flow of traffic and see if there is anything that can be done to reduce wasteful tasks (Russell Taylor, 2016). This includes considering how many steps it takes to get something out of the fridge or how far the chef needs to go to get a mixing bowl or tools. The cooks and servers must also pay attention to these as well to minimize waste. The designer should also pay attention to green technology available to them in the design phase. This is ... • 6. Racial Inequality And Discrimination Of Child Welfare I. Conceptualize Framework Racial disproportionality and disparity in child welfare represents a complex phenomenon emanating from historical theoretical socioeconomic and policy trends that has shaped this service over the past several decades. There are many theories that have been proposed explain why racial disproportionality and disparity exists in child welfare. It has been recognized the underlying roots of racial disproportionality and disparity are complex and often coexists. Racial disproportionate in child welfare will be the focus of this research. I will focus on is Racial Bias and Discrimination of child welfare agencies, particularly the child protective services. The literature suggest the one of the reason for over representation of minority(colored) children in child welfare results from the different treatment of race or racial bias (attitudinal dimension) an discrimination (behavioral dimension) (mortion, 1999; Roberts, 2002). This theory also suggests, this treatment can be external or internal in the welfare system; however I will focus only on the implication of internal welfare agencies (i.e. child protective specialist). Child protective specialists culture and policies may lead to inequitable treatment of families of color. CPS workers may have biases towards families of color which could affect the decision making at any point of the investigation. This may not have occurred intentionally by the worker however due to institutional racism which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Cultural Elements Of Kaffir Boy By Mark Mathabane The Cultural Elements of Kaffir Boy Kaffir Boy by Mark Mathabane is an incredibly complex novel detailing the author s childhood and coming of age in a South Africa gripped by apartheid. It also describes his steadfast pursuit of tennis as a means of escaping the aforementioned system that legalized and even encouraged racism. Though the autobiography captures copious personal struggles and internal conflicts, the elements of the text that truly stand out are the cultural ones these being the elements of society, religion, and politics. The most prevalent of these cultural elements, and the first one introduced to the reader, is the social element. On the very first page of chapter one, Mathabane states that, The white man of South Africacertainly does not know me. He certainly does not know the conditions under which I was born and had to live for eighteen years. So my story is intended to show him with words a world he would otherwise not see because of a sign and a conscience racked with guilt and to make him feel what I felt when he contemptuously called me a Kaffir boy. (Mathabane 3). Issues of race and racism are the more frequently described types of social element in Kaffir Boy , however, the power struggle between Mathabane s mother and father is also discussed. When Mathabane s father is arrested or away for a long period of time, his mother seizes control of the household. She brings in the food and the money. Upon the return of his father, she is ... The firewalls will be configured to deny everything, and then the ports that are needed for the functioning of the network will be allowed. For the sake of expense and administrative simplicity, the firewall will be a stateful packet filter firewall, as opposed to an application proxy firewall, which would offer higher security and configurability at the expense of administrative complexity due to the need for a proxy for each application in use by the company. Essay on Karen Horney s The Distrust Between the Sexes Karen Horney s The Distrust Between the Sexes In Karen Horney s The Distrust Between the Sexes, she attempts to explain the problems in the relationships between men and women. She writes that to understand the problem you must first understand that problems stem from a common background. A large amount of suspiciousness is due to people s intensity of emotions. Early in Horney s essay, she defines passion and discusses why it is rare. People do not feel safe putting all of their faith and trust in only one other person. Horney explains that self preservation is part of human instinct, and people have a fear of losing themselves in their loved one. Next, Horney explains how people often overlook their own impulses. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next Horney explains that children undergo painful experiences of being betrayed and lied to. They may also have to submit to taking second place to a family member. The child is helpless in all of this and the child s only way to vent fury and anger is in the form of extravagant fantasies. These fantasies are often brutal, criminal, and destructive in nature. The child s inability to understand these destructive forces makes them equally fearful of adults. Horney goes on to explain the later childhood side of relationship fears. A little girl who represses her wish, due to a guilty conscience, would grow up projecting that wish on every male. Often she will shy away from accepting or demanding anything from her husband. This can leads her into a depressed state under which she will shift the responsibility of helplessness onto the man. Under the guise of being helpless, she thus dominates her man. In the middle of Horney s paper she gets into the traits of male psychology. She gives many examples of how men hold women in high esteem, but writes that they have a secret distrust of women. One of Horney s best examples would have to be the story of Adam and Eve. The story devalues women s ability to give birth, and makes them seem to be sexual temptresses. It is the sexually attractive female that man is afraid of. Thoreau goes on to say that the government (because it is ruled by the majority) is not always right for everyone especially the individual and the minority. Over the course of American history, there have been many different groups formed for the purpose of civil disobedience. The activists of this movement preached non violence and peaceful protest. For example, during many sit ins the police would get involved. Usually this meant violence, but not by the civil rights activists who were taught not to retaliate. The protestors would take brutal beatings and do nothing in return (Small). On the other hand is the Black Liberation movement, which was headed by the Black Panthers. This movement leaned more towards black separation in order to form their own equal communities. The Panthers believed that Black Americans would never be equals in a white world and therefore they must form their own. • 16. Key Differences Between Torsion And Suspension Bridges Humans have encountered numerous obstacles in our environments that stand in the way of the ultimate goal of connectedness between all areas of earth. These obstacles may come in the form of mountains, oceans, canyons, or desserts. We employ the use of many different technologies to aid in traversing these obstacles. One technology we have developed to cross large distances such as canyons or bodies of water is the bridge. Over the centuries, we have developed several variations of the bridge that vary in technological advancement and the capacity to cross longer distances. These bridge variations include the simple beam bridge, truss bridges, arch bridges, suspension bridges, and cable stayed bridges. The key differences between these bridges... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These include torsion, shear, and resonance. Torsion is a force of twisting, and is somewhat similar to tension. In example of torsion is the force you apply when you twist a cloth. Different materials handle torsion very differently. For example, if you twist a wooden bat, it will not break, and if you twist a piece of licorice, it will twist around itself several times without breaking. They both handle the force different ways, wood stays stiff, and licorice flexes and stretches to endure more force (Garrett Boon 10/31/17). Suspension bridges are particularly susceptible to torsion, as high winds can cause the road deck to twist and rotate. One way that engineers help to reduce torsion force on suspension bridges is to design deck stiffening truss systems to further stiffen the road deck. In the case of extremely long suspension bridges however, the deck truss is not enough, and engineers need to include more aerodynamic truss systems and diagonal support cables in order to protect against torsion (Robert Lamb and Michael Morrissey 10/6/17). Arch and Beam bridges are mostly immune to this force due to their rigid structure and truss system for beam bridges. Shear is more similar to compression than it is to tension. It occurs when two forces act in opposing direction on the same point. An example of shear forces is if you were to hold a plank or piece of wood using two hands. If you pushed up with one hand and down with the other hand, then you would be applying shear force to that piece of wood. Shear more commonly occurs horizontally rather than vertically (Garrett Boon 10/31/17). Shear occurs in bridges when the weight of the bridge itself or the weight of the load on the bridge causes materials to slide by each other or shear off. An overload of weight on the bridge can cause ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After the Declaration of Independence was written in 1776, the country was challenged with the problem of creating a process for governing the states. The Patriots were concerned about forming a centralized Parliament, like in Britain, because power was abused by the wealthy. Initially, the vision was to give states governing authority and leave minimal power to a national Union. The bicameral legislative concept ran into a number of roadblocks. The main disagreement was deciding who had the right to vote. Democratic Patriots wanted equal rights for all free men, even those who were poor. In most states, conservatives disagreed and felt strongly that poor men should not vote because their vote would confound and destroy all distinctions and prostrate all ranks to the common level (Lapsansky Werner, Levy, Roberts, Taylor, 134). As the debate lingered, most free men qualified to vote because they owned farms, but slaves and women were not given voting rights. Another debate centered on religious freedom. Most states supported freedom of religion in their constitution, and with time religious liberty, without the interference of the state, became common from state to state with the exception of Massachusetts and Connecticut (Lapsansky Werner, Levy, Roberts, Taylor, 135). The religious controversy was aided with the passage of the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom in 1786 which was written by Thomas Jefferson. This was extremely influential legislation because it became the forerunner of the first amendment protections for religious freedom (The Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union, Online). The first constitution of the United States was called the Articles of Confederation. • 19. Racial Diversity In Media Racial Diversity is a sensitive topic, especially with all of the current controversy about race. One specific issue pertaining to this is the portrayal and representation of Asian people in media (i.e. television, movies, magazines, etc.). I hope to bring awareness to this controversial matter in a respectful and peaceful manner through in depth research. As an Asian American woman, I am extremely passionate about this issue because it hits home. I live in a society where there is not a lot of representation or people I can directly relate to in media. While watching TV shows and movies, I have noticed that all of the actors and actresses are predominantly Caucasian and when an Asian actoror actress is casted, he/she is cast as the supporting character or a villain. Growing up in an Asian household where you are taught to be proud of your heritage and watching these shows and movies was not something that made me want to have pride in my ancestry. It left me without a strong Asian Americanrole model in my childhood; someone I could aspire to be. People often assume that if a show or movie contains one racially diverse person, it should be considered diverse ; this assumption or viewpoint is completely absurd. This is further described as tokenism, the practice of making only a perfunctory or symbolic effort to do a particular thing, especially by recruiting a small number of people from underrepresented groups in order to give the appearance of sexual or racial equality ... Some say that the pattern of human settlement in Southeast Asia is dispersed settlements where buildings are spread out; an example would be the rural areas of Philippines, where different villages are at different parts of the country. Extreme climate conditions may play a role too, Sometimes it is even impossible to inhabit that area, due to the weather conditions. A land s geographical location can determine whether an area has higher risk of experiencing an earthquake or not. Singapore is considered very blessed as her geographical location is very well shielded by other larger countries like Malaysia and Indonesia. Furthermore, we do not sit on the earthquake belt. However Japan and Indonesia are less fortunate, as they are located right on the earthquake belt and are constantly experiencing earthquake every now and then. If your settlement is located nearby to a river, there will be a reliable source of food and transportation which adds to the land s desirability. Some people are drawn to coastal areas as these areas offer a number of recreational activities, such as surfing or wakeboarding and access to water transportation. Gandhi is a biopic produced by Richard Attenborough whose lifelong dream was to make the story of the national independence leader s life into a movie. The movie starts with Mohandas K. Gandhi, played by actor Ben Kingsley, rejecting all material possessions in pursuit of India s independence. The storyline plays out to highlight important aspect of Gandhi s life and ends with his assassination, where he utters the famous lines Oh god. Critics claim the movie is over exaggerated, however Attenborough does a fine job of bringing a visual of Gandhi s life into Western eyes. By looking at Exhibit 1, you can see how the average price per ton decreased form $425 per ton in 2000 to $354 per ton in 2001. This exhibit shows how many tons of steel Nucor sold during certain years from 1970 to 2006. Smokingbans in certain areas around the world has caused the number of children s hospital visits for asthmato drop significantly (Louis 1). Children are also greatly affected by second hand smoke and some parents do not realize the harm that they are causing to their young children. Young children are growing fast and their lungs are also growing very fast and second hand smoke can seriously damage their lungs temporarily or even permanently. Children can t walk away from second hand smoke, either because they are too young to walk or their parents won t let them. When children are riding in the back of a car and an adult decides they want to smoke, the child or children have no other choice but to breathe in the thick, chemical filled smoky air. 16 percent of the world s population is covered by comprehensive smoke free laws, and 40 percent of children worldwide are routinely exposed to second hand smoke (Louis 2). With the research that is found, if that 40 percent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Baseball Force The pictures above show something most people are probably familiar with. Especially during this season, baseball is extremely popular, and is one of America s most well liked sports. Two huge components of the game, the pitcher throwing the ball and a batter hitting it, are shown in the two pictures. The picture was taken of two players on the Gonzaga University team, one player pitching the ball and the other player up to bat, at the baseballfield in Patterson Complex. The sport of baseball revolves around the pitcher throwing the ball, and the batter hitting it to a designated spot. The throwing of the ball involves many physical concepts. There is force applied to the ball, and it flies through the air with a certain velocity, and there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Putting spin on the ball results in a curveball. Jon Drobnis, author of The Physics Behind Baseball, states that air flows swiftly under the ball, causing it to dive when it is thrown with curve. A curveball spins from top to bottom, opposite of a fastball, which spins from bottom to top. The ball is given curve by snapping the wrist as it is thrown (Griesmer, 2014). The air flowing under the ball is caused by the existence of air resistance. Air resistance is also called drag, and it is the forces opposing an object in motion through the air. They act opposite to the direction of the object s velocity, and they depend directly on velocity. The ball flying through the air meets the opposing force of air resistance, which causes air to flow under the ball creating low pressure, and air to flow over the top of the ball creating an area of high pressure. If the ball lacked spin, the air would simply flow around the ball, rather than over it and under it. Throwing a curveball causes the ball to deviate from the straight path of the pitcher to the catcher, and it also causes the ball to drop suddenly before it reaches the batter. As the ball is flying through the air, it deviates slightly from the straight path a fastball would normally take. Although it only deviates from the straight path by a few inches, from the point of view of the batter it looks as if the ball curves about 15 inches from the straight ... • 38. Gender Roles In The Daughters Of England The text The Daughters of England , is a book written to provide guidance for young women, pertaining to their character and behaviour; the book creates the framework for the role of women in the household. It instructs that women must offer a virtuous influence on men as wives, mothers, and daughters as part of their role within society. Estimated to have been written in 1842, in London, Daughters of England was penned by Sarah Stickney Ellis; a popular author of Victorian conduct literature. Ellis popularity implies that the source was widely circulated at the time, thus represents an important view of contemporary society. This document reveals to us the ideals expected of middle classwomen of the time, and the principles that were envisioned for them, relating in particular to the separate spheres ideology. This ideology outlines and endorses separate spheres for women and men, the domestic and public spheres. This idea derived from the natural features of each gender. As women were considered to be physically weaker than men, they were more suitable to belong to the private sphere. As Ellis writes, women s strength is in her influence , demonstrating the view that, though physically fragile, women were morally superior to men. Raised in a single parent household, Ellis developed a strong sense of morals regarding home life. Having helped raise her siblings, we can infer that this influenced her belief in the importance of women in a matriarchal role. Ellis writes of the necessity to be educated properly, stating that school education forms but a very small part of that which they will be expected to possess . This statement can be reinforced from the Victorian notion that a womanof the upper or middle class, though did receive an education, were expected to become accomplished as opposed to academically knowledgeable. , thus Ellis s writings can be regarded as typical of the time. The source tells young women that they must be content to be inferior to men , a statement that corroborates with the contemporary laws of England. Society was deeply patriarchal, with men legally authorised to use physical violence to chastise his wife as she belonged to him. Women who wanted to separate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Comparing The Bhagavad Gita And The Upanishads As any other society, India and Greece underwent changes that transformed their thoughts, beliefs, social order, and their idea about this world. Most of these changes were experienced during the Axial Age and the Age of Iron. These periods in history made people question themselves about topics such as life, the world, death, the soul, etc. People attempted to answer these questions through ideas, philosophies, and myths. India gave birth to Hinduism which expanded quickly. This spiritual tradition focused on finding peace and eternal tranquility rather than temporary satisfaction from the worldly pleasures. In order to transmit the idea to other people and guide them through it, they came up with different writings to illustrate this. The Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads are popular writings that exemplify the beliefs and thoughts of Hinduism. The Bhagavad Gita addresses the question about how a person can be one with Brahman, the universal soul or god, while living in this world. This document is set as a dialogue between the warrior Arjuna and his guide and charioteer Krishna. Arjuna is being encouraged by Krishna to fulfill his duty as a warrior and part of the Kshatriyas, one of the higher divisions in the caste system. Arjuna has to enter this battle and fight in order to live up to his duty and consequently live free from attachments and walk in the path of finding himself as one with Brahman. On the other hand, the Upanishads guided all kinds of people regardless of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reducing the likelihood of an accident requires the enforcement of necessary traffic laws and the use of appropriate safety measures. On occasion, however, certain safety measures are not taken or enforced when they should be. One such place that has great need for such measures is the intersection of Eglin Pkwy and 12th Ave in Shalimar Florida. The Eglin Pkwy and 12th Ave intersection is a very familiar place for most locals. Here Richbourg Ave coincides with 12th Ave and intersecting Eglin Pkwy. According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there were 499 pedestrian fatalities in 2011, and in 2015 that number had increased to 632, an approximately 27% increase in fatalities. With that being said, traffic regulation should be a priority. Traffic laws are great advocates for road safety, but a law cannot enforce itself nor can it keep everybody safe. That is why the use of traffic and road signs is important: they enforce and they protect. For instance, it is a generally known that you cannot exceed the speed limit of twenty miles per hour inside a school zone; however, most people wouldn t know that they were in a school zone if there hadn t been a sign that indicated an entrance into a school zone. In addition, while the majority of drivers are aware that a right turn on red is legal unless otherwise prohibited, many of them wouldn t know the requirements for a legal right turn are, as stated under Florida Statute ... But why? Why did everyone inelegantly stare? Why does your skin color make matters this problematic? It s essential that a class like African American history becomes more diverse. Most assume that this class is aiming for an African Americanaudience. This assumption is completely misleading, but most fall the underdog to. The homogeneity society amongst the students is bare and should be altered. I m currently enrolled in African American history. I ve noticed there aren t any people outside of the African American race in the class. The teacher has noticed out of all 9 years he s been teaching the class, he s had maybe 8 people that weren t African American. I feel there is no imagined community within this learning space. In Pratt s essay she tells how Benedict Anderson refers to an imagined community. Anderson s idea of an imagined community is communities exist as imagined entities in which people will never know most of their fellow members, meet them or even hear of them, yet in the minds of each other lives the image of their communication (327). All classes are expected to be diverse and full of divergence. But yet, we re all in some way in which most think is by race, already in deep relation. The absence of nonconformity leaves a toll on the class, whereas we are interested in how people from different races feel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However implementation of liquidity ratios illustrates that the short term debt paying ability of the companies has improved with and without the inclusion of inventories (Jerry J et al, 2008, pg214). This is of particular interest to M S who may require financial aid to finance the renovation of its stores. In terms of the current recession many investors may be worried to what effect the current recession will have on Tesco and M S respectively. Another indication of how efficient the companies are in purchasing and selling goods is the stock turnover Ratio (J. R. Dyson, 2004, 258).
