Health Determinants Affecting A Population s Health Essay
This week s assignment is on how health determinants affect a population s health, I do understand
what health is which is being at a states of wellness or free from illness or injury. Or as close to that
state as possible because a patient can have a chronic condition and still be at a state of good health
just not as good as a person who is free of disease, injury or illness. And I know a determinant is
something that determines or effects the outcome of something. So a health determinant to me would
be anything that determines or impacts your state of health in anyway negative or positive. To have a
better understanding of what health determinants are I did some online research to see was I correct in
my thinking of what it means. According to Healthy people 2020, determinants of health is the
interrelationships among factors that determine individual and population health. There are
interventions that target multiple determinants of health which are most likely to be effective.
Determinants of health reach beyond the boundaries of traditional health care and public health
sectors; sectors such as education, housing, transportation, agriculture, and environment can be
important allies in improving population health. For discussion purposes, I chose to look at health
determinants of the HIV population. Population health is any factor that improves the well being or
reduces the inequities in the lives of people that live in a particular community. The five

Educational Reformation Research Paper
The History of Educational Reformation Programs Within the at risk Black Community
Since slavery, Reconstruction, and the Civil Rights Era, reformed education has been a part of the
drive to better the learning of the American people. With African Americans and other ethnic groups
joining the American dream , programs improving the education system took a more concrete form,
intending to provide wholesome education and funding of resources for those in need. Today, this
history of reconstructing the education system presently affects us. With the signing of the Every
Child Succeeds Act by President Obama, the country will again see a new face to education
reformation in the United States. Throughout history there has been criticism of ... Show more content

Starting in the late 1800s through the 1960s voting exclusions were sanctioned through literacy tests
which segregated poll locations throughout the Country (African American History Timeline, 2009).
US Civil Rights Commissioner Dean Griswold of Ohio stated during the 1962 Hearings of the Bills
Relating to Literacy Tests and Voter Requirements, that State officials did [do] use literacy tests as a
means of discrimination on grounds of race and color (Literacy Tests and Voter Requirements in
Federal And State Elections Hearing, 1962, p. 144). However, out of the many states affecting African
Americans through voting prohibitions, none of them negatively affected Blacks as much as
Mississippi. According to the Encyclopedia of African American Christian Heritage only 6.7% of
Blacks in [Mississippi] were registered to vote, the lowest percentage in the country (McMickle,
2002). In response to this alarming percentage, advocates for civil rights grouped together to form a
campaign in Mississippi focused on teaching literacy, the political structure in the US, and other
academic subjects (Emery, et al., The Mississippi Freedom School Curriculum ). The project, which
was launched during the summer of 1964, was known as the Freedom Summer . This initiative is so
significant in discussing educational reformations in the Black community because it was a
community led

American Physical Therapy Association Paper
My area of interest in the field of exercise science is physical therapy. Consequently, the National
Organization that I researched was the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). This
organization uses the guiding principles of identity, quality, collaboration, value, innovation, consumer
centricity, access/equality, and advocacy to work toward and achieve their vision of [t]ransforming
society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience (American Vision). In addition to
this mission, further research led me to discover the perks that this organization offers and the
connections that it forms. This organization is one that can I can utilize and greatly benefit from in the
future. The American Physical Therapy Association is an accredited National Organization that offers
membership to students, employers, and employees in the field of physical therapy from all across the
country. As a student, I could benefit from being a member through discounts, aid, insurance,
employment resources, evidence and research resources, and involvement opportunities (American
Membership Benefits for Students). After completing my education and entering the job field, I could

Porfirio Diaz s leadership tactics Diaz was able to manipulate other politicians as well as his

In order to ensure stability, Rosas implemented many changes in the government, including giving
more power to the governor, which in turn, saved Rosas job for the future, allowing him to become a
tyrant like leader.[14]
Both of these Caudillos illustrate human s crave for power, and the manipulation, deception, and
devilish processes that can be used to maintain this power. We can see both of these men as great
leaders, as they thoroughly accomplished what they decided was best. We can also see them as great
lessons, teaching us of the dangers of leadership and the risks it often involves.
Conclusion
The view of past and present Caudillos will consistently change with the person the view is from.
However, one thing is clear. Juan Manuel de Rosas and Porfirio Diaz were two Caudillos of political
excellence, maintaining a long and influential regime. This was accomplished by both, through their
personal triumphs over the previous government of their nation as well as a triumph over threatening
authorities around and within the nation, such as Diaz regularly jailing those who spoke out against
him or his policies. Rosas and Diaz both knew what they wanted and had valid processes in
accomplishing this; though the moral values of their actions are up to discussion. This situation is
common throughout history, including skilled leaders such as Hitler, Stalin, and Castro. Juan Manuel

Inventory Valuation
Inventory Valuation
Retailers define inventory as intended sellable assets consisting of goods that are available for resale
to customers. Manufacturers also maintain three components of inventory. These include finished
goods which are goods that have been completed and are awaiting sales. Manufacturers may also have
work in process inventory made up of goods being manufactured but not yet completed. The third
category of inventory is raw materials, consisting of goods that are to be used in producing products.
Overall, inventory should include all costs that are both ordinary and necessary to put the goods in
place and in condition for their resale. For many companies, what they have in inventory represents a

To properly use the cost method in valuing your property, all direct and indirect costs associated with
it must be applied. Some general rules apply to the cost method including that for merchandise on
hand at the beginning of the tax year, cost means the inventory price of the goods. Also, for any
merchandise purchased during the year, cost means the invoice price less discounts plus freight and
other charges occurred in acquiring the goods. For any merchandised produced during the year, cost
means all direct and indirect costs that have to be capitalized under the uniform capitalization rules
(UNICAP). Under UNICAP, you must capitalize the direct costs and partial indirect costs for
production or resale activities subject to these rules. Rather than claiming these costs as a current
deduction, you include them in the basis of property your produce or acquire for resale. You recover
these costs through depreciation, amortization, or cost of goods sold when you use, sell, or dispose of
the property. Under the lower of cost or market method, compare the market value of each item on
hand on the inventory date with its cost and use the lower value of its inventory value. This method is
applied to goods purchased and on hand and basic elements of cost of goods being manufactured
(direct materials, direct labor). This method does not apply to goods accounted for under the LIFO
method. To

BRANCHES OF PHILOSOPHY 2
Abstract
The different branches of philosophy are broken down into six different categories. These different
categories answer the many questions that we as individuals ask as we go through the journey of life.
Although these questions are sometimes complicated and at many times are very difficult to answer at
some time we come up with an answer. Even though the answer is not what we would expect it is the
answer that best fulfils our inner thought process that is closely linked to the different aspects of
philosophy. An aspect that we all encounter throughout life is an important one as ... Show more

If an individual can understand and encompass this branch of philosophy that individual could live a
full and prosperous life as he has done not only the right thing he has done right by everyone around
him. This would probably be the most important as it involves doing right which is closely related to
religion the base of all of our lives. Each and every day I encounter the different aspects of what is
ethics. I work in a environment as I am a manager of a restaurant and I often have to make decisions
about what is right and what is wrong as I manage a crew
BRANCHES OF PHILOSOPHY 5
Of people who have rights and want to be treated fairly. Although the company that I work for is a
very unfair company, and require us to take hour breaks that are interrupted. Although I have to follow
the mandatory rules of the company I believe that this is wrong and it is not ethical. As I know that it
is wrong I have to follow these rules although I disagree I often go along as I do not want to lose my
job because I have a family. This branch of philosophy is encountered by ever individual each and
every day of our lives the big question remains what do you do? The fourth branch which is Aesthetics
is an interesting one as it encompasses the aspect of beauty. This is a good one as many individuals
would consider themselves to be beautiful is it true that beauties is in the eye of the beholder, and if so

Wrinkle In Time Themes
Do you enjoy reading science fiction novels? Do you like adventures across the cosmos, trying to
defeat a hopelessly powerful and evil foe? Do you enjoy the science behind things like going from
planet to planet in seconds? If you chose all of the above, then A Wrinkle in Time is the perfect book
for you. In the novel, the protagonist, Meg, has many characteristics and experiences from being very
loving to traveling to other planets, that ultimately lead to her saving her brother. To start with, Meg
has many exceptional characteristics that, in some cases, lead her to emerge victorious. Some
examples are at the beginning of the book when she believes that she is homely, clumsy, awkward, but

This proves to us that she does not think that she can do it herself, but she knows that she has to suck
it up and do it. This alone as the final step to becoming heroic. Accepting that you don t want to do it
yourself, but you are the only one that can do it, will make a person heroic and confident in
themselves. Last of all, every single one of these things previously discussed change Meg forever, and
probably for the better. Think about it. She goes from being clumsy, awkward, and hating herself from
saving millions upon millions planets from a fate of all being puppets pulled by IT s repulsive strings.
And one of those millions of planets was probably Earth. So now she has the fact that she saved the
seven billion plus lives on her home planet, and the infinite number of lives she saved on other planets
from IT s grotesque clutches. I have a feeling that for those things for a person to have done would
change someone for the better. But the most important thing of all to her is the fact that she saved her
brother and that she made her family whole again. After that happened, she is happy and laughing and
hugging people probably for the first time in

The Black Religious Community, Gospel ( Christian ) Rap
To an entire segment of the Black religious community, Gospel (Christian) Rap has found its way to
the footsteps of the church. The rapid emergence of this music and its subculture has left the church
and clergy alike asking the question why? Especially since much of what I would call secular Rap is
off the hook these days. How so, do you ask? There is a surplus of gratuitous violence, and sexually
explicit Rap lyrics, that currently ride the airwaves and is uploaded into countless IPODs, MP3s, and
Myspace.com websites. And what should we say about the continual overexposure and repetitious
degradation of young Black women, half naked in booty shorts; subliminally suggesting to many that
to treat all women like bitches and hoe s is ok. It also seems to promote a certain image of street
machismo or hembra which suggests that adopting a pimp or criminal type lifestyle with a gold
jeweled cup filled to the rim with Remy Marty VSOP or Gin and juice is the ultimate form of fun, and
that true happiness is wrapped inside a Maybach Mercedes Benz with 24 inch rims and a house
worthy of a write up on MTV Cribs. Finally, this dream life would be nothing without mentioning the
bank account that can only be accessed while visiting the Cayman Islands. Hip hop is now a culture
much like the Beatnik or Hippie of yesteryear and now to include churches. Like those references,

known as Thirty Six Days of Hell which takes place from the 19th of February in 1945 to the 26th of
March, 1945. During these thirty six days the goal of this battle was to obtain the island because of the
location and how they would be able to utilize it for a landing strip for damaged aircrafts and
replenishment. The scope of the investigation will be understanding what life was like for the soldiers

When they first arrived, they knew that the Japanese tended to wait for the first wave to pass through
before starting the full blown attack. Clarence Rae described the island, They bombed Iwo for thirty
days before we ever got there. Bombed. Shelled. Everything you could think of to soften it up. . . At
6:30 in the morning all the transports were in place and by 6:40 the war had broken out. Slowly but
surely the American soldiers made progress and secured some of the airfields because by the
beginning of March, two thirds of the island was captured by American soldiers because they had a
strong Marine base and were able to push the Japanese back. After five days the Americans were able
to take over Mt. Suribachi which was such a relief for the soldiers because the five prior days was just
the beginning of the thirty six day war. Iwo Jima veteran, Hershel Woodrow Williams remembers, The
flag going up on Mount Suribachi, on Japanese territory, was something that we as marines really
needed. It was a short lived victory because after the taking over of Mt. Suribachi the bloody battle
resumed with thousands killed and bodies mutilated for thirty one days later. Another veteran, Norman
Baker, remembered vividly, After a while, I wasn t in shocked anymore and that s the worst thing for

War I And Sick Of War
According to William Tecumseh Sherman, he is tired and sick of war. It is only those who have neither
fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance,
for desolation. War is hell. This statement is self explanatory; the nature of war is reckless. Yes, when
experiencing war, some soldiers may come across gratifying sounds of larks, song birds, which
remind them of ebullient moments. Nevertheless, is brutally fighting really worth that? Roughly ten
million soldiers lost their lives in World War I, along with seven million civilians; also, many soldiers
experienced shell shock, which is a psychological disturbance caused by war. As a result of the
heinous and atrocious experiences that many were put through, this inspired many poets to record
their remembrances. Although war may bring memories of happiness because of the pleasing sounds,
war should be considered a crime regardless of how necessary or justified it seems because war leads
to mental anguish due to the memories of physical pain, soldiers being frightened because of
unexpected occurrences and ferocious deaths.
In the poem Mental Cases by Wilfred Owen, Owen describes in stark detail the ghastly physical
symptoms and memories that led to long lasting mental torment. A few months before Owen was
killed in action in 1918, he wrote this poem that appears to draw heavily on his own experience of
being a mental case at Craiglockhart War Hospital in Edinburgh where

connected to FIFA, the governing body of all football. Nine current or former FIFA figures and five
involved in sports marketing, were connected to wire fraud, racketeering, and money laundering. They

In Crisis Management and Communication, Coombs ranks blaming others for the crisis one of the
least accommodative reputation repair strategies. Blatter put the blame on everyone indicted by stating
I know many people hold me responsible. We, I, cannot monitor everyone all the time. If people want
to do wrong, they will also try to hide it, (ESPN Staff, 2015). He went on to say Those who are
corrupt in football are in a minority, like in society and must be held responsible for their actions.
Football cannot be the exception to the rule. There can be no place for corruption of any kind (ESPN
Staff, 2015). Sepp Blatter also blamed the United States for the eight year ban awarded to him for
violating FIFA s ethics rules when he approved a $2 million payment to then FIFA Vice President and
President of the Union of European Football Associations, Michel Platini. Blatter stated in a news
conference If we had awarded the World Cup in 2022 to the USA, we would not be here. (Perez,
2015). Blatter opened the news conference by saying I regret I am a punching ball and for my
organization I have served with my heart and conscience for 41 years, Specifically I regret for all the
team members working in FIFA (Perez, 2015). There was no apology for the alleged improper
payment from Blatter. I am not ashamed, Blatter said. I regret, but I am not ashamed. I ashamed. The
information stated above shows how FIFA ineffectively managed this crisis by first, having the wrong
person speak for the company. Secondly, the President of FIFA refused responsibility for any of the
actions that occurred. Lastly, FIFA failed to repair the reputation loss by not taking action toward Sepp
Blatter s Presidency. The possible long term consequences of this crisis could result in a loss of major
sponsorships. Visa, one of FIFA s biggest sponsors,

My Personal Narrative
My personal narrative
It was a normal summer morning, the sun came up, and I woke up and got ready for the day, but it
wouldn t be any normal summer day. It all started when the same summer morning, when my dad
asked, Hey Gavin, you want to go to the Makers Fair at Union Station? I didn t know what he was
talking about, so I asked him a few questions about what the makers fair was. He told me that it was a
fair where people made products and technology. My dad stated, I wouldn t ask you if I didn t think
you would like it. I was sure whether to say yes or no. It sounded cool because I has an interest, but I
was a little worried that I would let my hopes up too high and be upset when it turned out to not be as

going to it first. If I knew that there was stuff this interesting at it, I would have been the one asking to
go there. Believe it or not, this wouldn t be the most interesting thing I would see that day.
After exploring for a while, my parents and I moved on to the next section. One of the most interesting
things we saw was a rover made by students from the University of Missouri Science and Technology.
A rover is a remote controlled robot on wheels designed to help humans complete certain tasks.
Rovers have many different designs. This rover had six black wheels that were very flimsy. Above the
wheels was a rectangular compartment that held the computers and power supply. The was also a pole
with a camera on top, not a typical camera, but a small rectangular cube with flat lenses. I also a
robotic arm on the front of the rover used to pick up move objects. Since it had a similar design to the
rovers that NASA has sent to Mars, I became interested in it since I was passionate about space travel.
I examined the rover for a while, and then one of the students, noticing how I was interested in the
rover came over, and asked: Do you have any questions?
Wanting to continue my observations without being interrupted, I said, I don t have any questions right
now. However, I heard my mom and talking

Yes, many scholars argue that conflict and dispute are terms or concepts that may seem to have similar

we evaluate what is conflict and what is dispute, let s explore key factors that determine what makes it
a conflict and what makes it a dispute.

The Kiss Marble Sculpture by Rachel Manson Essay
This was created by Rachel Manson. In historic period, carving is the technique of changing shape of
a material which the artist subtracts or cuts away from a solid material to reach the desired form by
use of tools such as knives, chisels tipped power cutters, and chainsaws. This kind of Art work, can be
time consuming and painstaking method because of the hard and heavy materials, such as stones or
other marble that are often used. However, artists also carve from softer substances such as wood and
soap depending on recourses and cost. Sculpturing requires innovative or intellectual ideas. I would

Throughout ancient period, there have been plenty of pieces of art that are appalling, shocking, and
created quite an abstract reaction, yet they are great works of Art. In addition, there are pieces of Art
sculpture with quality in which immediate impression you have upon seeing, hearing, and touching
will reflect emotional response within you. This takes place before your instinct recognizes the content
of the work and starts to work out meanings and messages. I believe sculpture has to include some of
the elements and principles of the language of Art in order to be recognized. The sculptor needs the
structure they present to be successfully communicating the idea and present the beauty and harmony
of the work. I have used the example as modeling technique, the sculptor manipulate soft materials to
create a three dimensional form. Unlike carving, it requires soft substances that can be easily and
rapidly shaped by the sculptor s hands. Most frequents material used for modeling is clay; however,
plaster, papier mache, and wax are also common material. In my humble opinion, my conscience, tells
that a lot of realism has been lost because we do not have the same use of symbolism as earlier
centuries. We see objects simply for themselves, not as adding another level of meaning. In discussion
with my partner, there are all sorts of additional meanings conveyed through them. She thinks a good

Woman Work By Maya Angelou Analysis
At a young age, Maya Angelou realized the worth of words when an incident caused her to stop
speaking at the age of seven. She was sexually assaulted by her mother s boyfriend and when she
confided in her uncles about the rape, they murdered him out of rage. She believed that words were
powerful and during the time that she did not speak, she began to grow a liking towards books and
poetry. Prior to her writing career, Maya Angelou worked various professions such as being a waitress,
cook, and a madam who managed prostitutes ( Angelou ). Later, she went on to becoming a singer and
a dancer and appeared at the nightclub, the Purple Onion. There her pen name Maya Angelou was
born. Her writing career began when she published her autobiographical novel, I Know Why the
Caged Bird Sings and from the success of the book, she continued to publish her poems. Maya
Angelou s personal story influences her works, In her writings, Angelou has often aimed to speak for
all African Americans by concentrating on her own experiences and feelings ( Angelou ). Maya
Angelou s works connect to her ancestors and the racial discrimination she herself went through. The
themes of slavery and connection to nature are manifested in her poem, Woman Work. The narrator
reveals that she is a slave as she lists the chores she is expected to accomplish and one of them was to

Empire Rising Character Analysis
Michael Briody, one of the bravest characters in Empire Rising, has a history of fighting for Britain in
World War I and also for the IRA during the Irish Civil War. Having a history of violence made him
perfect for moving to New York and becoming an assassin for the IRA. Briody works on the Empire
State Building to cover his illegal action with the IRA. He will later realize the significance of
working on the building. The building gives Briody the chance to figure out what he really seeks for in
life. Later in the novel he falls in love with Grace Masterson as they share a familiar past. His love
towards Grace helps him want to make a change in his life and leave all of his devastating past behind.
Through Briody s tough battles and love for Grace, he realized that he would want to find a change in
his life. Briody develops a considerable passion working on the Empire State Building. He labels the
feeling as crazy, but loves knowing that he s part of building something real for people to admire.
Most people might think it s crazy, but I love the work... (189) This quote further explains how Briody
develops the dedication making it the only thing he looked forward to in the day. The dedication he
has creates the personality of being a hard worker. There came a point in the novel where regardless
any injuries was willing to work. Working on the building was dangerous, even when Briody smashed
his finger, it was no excuse for him to miss work. This brings to believe that

Essay about Managing the Managers
Managing the Managers MANAGING THE MANAGERS: JAPANESE MANAGEMENT
STRATEGIES IN THE USA
The article reviews one of the greatest difficulties that Japanese multinational companies face, that is
integration of its subplants in other countries, where not just management is viewed as different, but
also the general running of the mother company s, not to mention the cultural changes which may be
faced when atempting to integrate into another country.
The article reviewed attempts to do two things. Firstly, the authors explore the management self so as
to give reasoning into the two different managing styles of the United States of America and that of
infamous Japanese management. Secondly, the authors report their research on ... Show more content

dramatically and uncomfortably . From the interviews conducted , four variables were believed to
have significant effect on the management style of the managers, and these variables were critical in
shaping management styles in the three electronic plants. These four variables are: the initial culture
established by the parent company, the level of budgetary control exercised by the home office, the
role and influence of the Japanese managerial assigness in the day to day management of the
transplants, and the country of origin of the transplants general manager.
Japanese Dominant Transplant. Due to the large investment made by the parent company into this
transplant, it is not surprise that Honshu manufacturing holds a very strong Japanese managerial
presence. Upon start of production, the transplant had seventy one Japanese assignees. Four years

managerial system as of these thirty one employees, ten of them held key managerial positions

Kennedy had many accomplishments during his short presidency. One of these accomplishments was
in regards to the Cuban Missile Crisis. He played a lead role in figuring out how to settle this with the
Soviet Union. He also abolished the federal death penalty in 1962. He initiated Project Apollo which
ended up accomplishing landing the first humans on the moon between 1969 1972!
Lastly, he played a large part in stopping racism and segregation. He showed a lot of love and sincerity
with this and the American people appreciated and admired him for that. He highly disagreed with
segregation and focused on civil rights towards the end of his election. On June 11th, 1963, he
delivered a televised speech stating his beliefs and presented a proposal for a new bill to be passed.
This bill would later be called the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
On November 22nd, 1963, President Kennedy had traveled to Dallas, Texas to participate in a
motorcade that was traveling to Dealy Plaza. He was sitting with his wife, Jacqueline on the back of a

Diversity In G. B. F.
G.B.F. is a movie that explores the life of a gay high school student but fails drastically to create a
narrative based on the real lives of LGBT persons and the result is riddled with inaccuracies,
stereotypes, and a lack of diversity. G.B.F. is about Tanner, a closeted high school teenager who lives
in a town with no openly gay people. However, with the vote for prom queen coming up, the three
contenders, Fawcett, Shley, and Caprice all want a Gay Best Friend to give them that edge over their
competition. They set out on a manhunt to find their own real life gay and accidentally out Tanner to
the whole school. Now, North Gate High has its first openly gay student. Tanner skyrockets to
popularity among the majority of his classmates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Topher is introduced to the audience as Shley s boyfriend. However, once Topher finally gets some
alone time with Tanner, he sexually assaults him by forcing Tanner to make out with him. When
Tanner tries to elicit an explanation from Topher over his uncharacteristic behavior, Topher says that
he s experimenting and needs to get it out of his system (G.B.F. 2013). He then proceeds to make out
with Tanner, even touching his crotch and legs in the process. Tanner has the physically remove
himself from the car in order to get Topher to stop. Later in the movie, Topher corners Brent in the
supply closet and forces himself on Brent. Similarly, Topher does not care the Brent has never
expressed a sexual interest in him, he simply forces himself onto the only two gay men he knows so
that he can fulfill some sort of fantasy or urge he has. Topher is obviously not straight, however, it is
unclear whether he is gay, bisexual, fluid, or pansexual. Either way, Topher is a member of the LGBT
community and his actions portray them in a horrible light. Topher sexually assaults two men in this
movie without their consent, making it seem like closeted members of the LGBT community are only
horny and violent. For a movie that is supposed to display the LGBT community is a positive light,
G.B.F. does a horrible job portraying Topher as a questioning teenager trying to figure out his
sexuality. The producers could have used Topher to show the side of the LGBT community that is in
the process of questioning their sexuality and experimenting, but they instead choose to only show
Topher as a horny and violent

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Insomnia
Insomnia
Sleep is considerably one of the most beneficial things there is for our health. It improves several
functions of our body and affects our overall mood. However, not many people get the amount of
sleep needed every night. Several factors can influence that, including disorders. According to a study
done by Columbia University, 50 to 70 million Americans suffer from a sleeping disorder. About 30
percent of these people are struggling with insomnia ( What is Insomnia? ). Insomnia is the inability to
get quality sleep during the night.
Insomnia occurs when someone has a hard time falling asleep or sleeping through the night. It can
affect someone for a short period of time; others may suffer for months, or even years. ... Show more

Therapy and medications are recommended as treatment.
Stressful events, traveling in different time zones, or illnesses may trigger this disorder because the
person s body is not used to different environments or situations they might have recently faced.
Keeping a constant routine is an ideal way to avoid missing out on the much needed sleep to feel
refreshed (Insomnia). It is also advised that people manage their stress in a healthy way in order to get
the recommended eight hours of sleep every night. Some of these ways include being social in a more
positive way, regularly exercising, taking time for yourself to relax, or coping in a more spiritual way.
It is recommended that you relax by lying down in a comfortable, quiet room. Focusing on your
breathing for several minutes and meditating can help your brain slow down and the rest of your body
will be able to rest.
The National Sleep Foundation found that 90 percent of Americans regularly use electronics before
bed. Smart phones are linked to having trouble falling asleep and interrupting sleep (Helmer). The
unnatural light triggers brain activity, when you are supposed to be winding down for the night. The
phone light fools with the chemicals in the brain that encourage sleep. Melatonin is the hormone that
keeps a constant internal clock in the sleep cycle. Studies have shown that up to two hours of
electronic light exposure decreased melatonin levels by nearly 22

Pointless? Yes pointless. Do you remember why we originally went to war with Iraq? Bush told us

After searching Iraq for weapons and coming up empty handed George Bush decided he did not like
Sadam Hussein and the world would be much safer with out him so he attacks. He did not even have
the support of the European Union. Opposing countries included France, Germany, Russia, Greece,
Belgium and Belarus. He is now trying to make Iraq a democracy, like the American government,
which is not a bad idea at all. There is just way too much opposition from Iraq, they obviously do not
want it, let them have there dictatorship, it is not our problem. This is a useless war now. We do have
to give credit to the many countries that helped us by sending in there own troops to Iraq. Mainly
England, Italy and Poland who sent a combined total of almost 15,000 troops to the 130,000 America
sent. Unfortunately there are casualties.
Casualties include over 1000 American deaths and 7722 wounded American s in Iraq. What about the
Iraqi people? Are they cooperating? Nope, so far around 15,000 have been killed 30% of the deaths
were civilians. This is not right for Bush to do. He should not be in Iraq killing that many people

Cluster Analysis On Dna Microarray Data
What are the author s main analytical questions?
Bioinformatics scientist when dealing with DNA microarray data face a challenge of how analysing
cluster data in order to discover important knowledge and features (p1). Different clustering methods
have been developed to analysis data for gene expression (p1), but none of those approaches introduce
a generic solution to overcome the challenge. Most developed applications for DNA microarray are

3D cluster surface reconstruction: the main objective of this algorithm is to reconstruct cluster

algorithm helps to view the genes grouped by a cluster in 3D space. This algorithm consists of three
main parts (1) building a list of upper convex (2) building a list of lower convex (3) insert non convex

What Is John Steinbeck s Message In Of Mice And Men
During the early years of the Great Depression, hundreds of thousands of American workers became
out of work and began to travel across the country, in search of work, and the fabled American Dream.
John Steinbeck s novel, Of Mice and Men, a historical fiction piece, follows the struggles of two such
American workers, on their journey through the tumultuous era of the Great Depression. However the
novel s message comes from the struggles of the two main characters, George and Lenny, and the
actions they must take to overcome the obstacles in front of them. Steinbeck s purpose for writing the
novel was to express his views on the American Dream and express his experiences through the
characters he creates. The messages that Steinbeck conveys through his novel are how impossible it
truly is to achieve the American Dream, and how it is the nature of man to prey on the weak; this
message adding to the impossibility of the American dream, men making it impossible for their fellow
man to succeed.
As Steinbeck writes the novel, he imbues the story, with his own personal knowledge of the times, as
much of the fictional setting comes from his own experiences supporting himself as a laborer in

The Effects Of Preeclampsia And How It Can Negatively...
Preeclampsia is a potentially deadly condition that typically occurs after the 20th week of pregnancy,
in either the late 2nd or 3rd trimesters. It is most simply defined as a condition where a pregnant
woman develops protein in their urine, due to organ damage (most often the kidneys) and high blood
pressure during late pregnancy. Thankfully, the condition isn t too common, as it presently effects in
anywhere from 3 to 7% of all pregnancies, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Read

Causes of Preeclampsia:
Preeclampsia s exact cause is presently unknown. However, the following factors are thought be
increase the likelihood of a woman experiencing the condition:
Genetically predisposed or having a family history of the condition, or a previous pregnancy that
involved preeclampsia.
Being obese.
Having a multiples pregnancy, which of course means having more than one baby at a time, such as
having twins.
Being a first pregnancy.
The woman being older than 35 years of age.
Having a history of kidney disease, high blood pressure or diabetes.
A person s diet.
Issues with blood vessels.
The presence of autoimmune disorders.
Diagnosing Preeclampsia:
During pregnancy, a woman s doctor should always be on the lookout for all the physical symptoms of
preeclampsia listed above, such as weight gain, swelling and high blood pressure. In addition, if a
doctor suspects a problem, they should order blood tests as a way to measure the protein in a woman s
urine, and to discover a low platelet count or high liver enzymes. When preeclampsia is discovered,
doctors will do an ultrasound, non stress test and other tests to decide if the baby should be delivered
right away. Obviously, the more severe the condition, the more likely it is for a doctor to suggest
delivery.
Treatment For Preeclampsia:
As mentioned above, preeclampsia can be fatal for both the mother and the baby if left untreated.
Unfortunately, the only true cure is delivery of the baby. Ideally,

Analysis of the Movie Analyze This
Abstract: Film can be a very useful catalyst in teaching how not to treat patients. In Analyze This and
Analyze That, we see very extensive examples of this throughout the film. Through farce and

recidivism is all about. Introduction In this short essay, the author will write an ethics paper analyzing
the movie Analyze This from an ethical perspective in a social science setting. It will be answered
from the perspective of a psychological and counseling professional who has to balance off the real
and potential conflicts at individual, professional and societal levels as portrayed in the film. As such,
we will identify specific laws and ethics codes that have been violated. The author will discuss the
case as if they are consulting with or supervising Ben Sobel in the film who they believe is behaving
unethically or unlawfully. They will state clearly what he is doing unethically or unlawfully with a
supportive historical background. They will then provide the possible steps for managing and

Analysis Of Black Beauty In Anna Sewell s The Georges And...
One of the most courageous decisions youĺl ever make is to finally let go of what is hurting your heart
and soul. This quote said by Brigitte Nicole, holds true for anyone, as any living being will eventually
let go of its pain and find happiness in life.In the excerpt from Black Beauty: An Autobiography of A
Horse by Anna Sewell, a horse is illustrating its change in feelings while being broken in and wearing
unpleasant gear. Distinctive change is also observed in the selection, The Georges and the Jewels by
Jane Smiley, where the main character describes her favor in one horse as opposed to another. By
evaluating the excerpts of Black Beauty and Georges and the Jewels, it is evident that both texts

At the start of the excerpt, Black Beauty shows that he personally feels hatred toward having to wear
heavy gear such as a bridle. However, at the end, he tells that as he rode with the items on him more
often, his anger had subsided. In the end, this story clearly uses first person point of view to allow the
character to grow from being a stubborn horse to an accepting one. Similarly, the story Georges and
the Jewels uses first person point of view to demonstrate how the main character changes from
favoring a horse to despising another. In paragraph one of the excerpt, Georges and the Jewels, it
states, ...because that horse is just dedicated to bucking you off. So I did lie there... Near the genesis,
Abby is lying on the ground because she is genuinely frustrated and feels a sense of defeat that the
horse she was riding threw her off. Abby is the main character and she is telling the story in the first
person point of view, which allows the text to be interpreted that her annoyance towards the horse is
clear. If the story had been written in another point of view, the main character s opening feelings
towards her father s horses would not have been shown. In paragraph nine, it states, I rode her every
day, and she never put a foot wrong. Abby is having a flashback where she looks back at the time she
had a very sweet horse that she truly loved. This shows that since she

Summary Of Killings By Andre Dubus
In the short story Killings the author, Andre Dubus writes about two different killings allowing the
reader to determine the justification of each killing. Focusing on the main character Matt Fowler, the
reader learns that Matt has good morals, which are overtaken by the death of his son. As the story
progresses, Dubus shows the motivation behind Matt s anger and revenge. Which leads Matt to a
controversy over following his head or his heart. All of these aspects give the reader obvious
conclusions that Matt will not follow through with his plan, making it even more surprising when he
does. At the beginning of the story Matt reveals his anger to his friend and the reader can see him
struggle to cope with the death of his son. The manner in which he killed Richard Strout showed the
anger and hatred he had against him. He was desperate to find justice for the crime committed against
his family. He wanted to make Strout feel all of the pain, the sorrow, and the hurt that he had put them
through. The night of Strout s murder, Matt does not look him in the eyes and makes Strout distance

  • 2. Health Determinants Affecting A Population s Health Essay This week s assignment is on how health determinants affect a population s health, I do understand what health is which is being at a states of wellness or free from illness or injury. Or as close to that state as possible because a patient can have a chronic condition and still be at a state of good health just not as good as a person who is free of disease, injury or illness. And I know a determinant is something that determines or effects the outcome of something. So a health determinant to me would be anything that determines or impacts your state of health in anyway negative or positive. To have a better understanding of what health determinants are I did some online research to see was I correct in my thinking of what it means. According to Healthy people 2020, determinants of health is the interrelationships among factors that determine individual and population health. There are interventions that target multiple determinants of health which are most likely to be effective. Determinants of health reach beyond the boundaries of traditional health care and public health sectors; sectors such as education, housing, transportation, agriculture, and environment can be important allies in improving population health. For discussion purposes, I chose to look at health determinants of the HIV population. Population health is any factor that improves the well being or reduces the inequities in the lives of people that live in a particular community. The five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Educational Reformation Research Paper The History of Educational Reformation Programs Within the at risk Black Community Since slavery, Reconstruction, and the Civil Rights Era, reformed education has been a part of the drive to better the learning of the American people. With African Americans and other ethnic groups joining the American dream , programs improving the education system took a more concrete form, intending to provide wholesome education and funding of resources for those in need. Today, this history of reconstructing the education system presently affects us. With the signing of the Every Child Succeeds Act by President Obama, the country will again see a new face to education reformation in the United States. Throughout history there has been criticism of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Starting in the late 1800s through the 1960s voting exclusions were sanctioned through literacy tests which segregated poll locations throughout the Country (African American History Timeline, 2009). US Civil Rights Commissioner Dean Griswold of Ohio stated during the 1962 Hearings of the Bills Relating to Literacy Tests and Voter Requirements, that State officials did [do] use literacy tests as a means of discrimination on grounds of race and color (Literacy Tests and Voter Requirements in Federal And State Elections Hearing, 1962, p. 144). However, out of the many states affecting African Americans through voting prohibitions, none of them negatively affected Blacks as much as Mississippi. According to the Encyclopedia of African American Christian Heritage only 6.7% of Blacks in [Mississippi] were registered to vote, the lowest percentage in the country (McMickle, 2002). In response to this alarming percentage, advocates for civil rights grouped together to form a campaign in Mississippi focused on teaching literacy, the political structure in the US, and other academic subjects (Emery, et al., The Mississippi Freedom School Curriculum ). The project, which was launched during the summer of 1964, was known as the Freedom Summer . This initiative is so significant in discussing educational reformations in the Black community because it was a community led ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. American Physical Therapy Association Paper My area of interest in the field of exercise science is physical therapy. Consequently, the National Organization that I researched was the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). This organization uses the guiding principles of identity, quality, collaboration, value, innovation, consumer centricity, access/equality, and advocacy to work toward and achieve their vision of [t]ransforming society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience (American Vision). In addition to this mission, further research led me to discover the perks that this organization offers and the connections that it forms. This organization is one that can I can utilize and greatly benefit from in the future. The American Physical Therapy Association is an accredited National Organization that offers membership to students, employers, and employees in the field of physical therapy from all across the country. As a student, I could benefit from being a member through discounts, aid, insurance, employment resources, evidence and research resources, and involvement opportunities (American Membership Benefits for Students). History of the Americas Mallory Robinson March 7, 2013 Mr. Vickers Word Count: 1,183 Summary of Evidence Porfirio Diaz s leadership tactics Diaz was able to manipulate other politicians as well as his surrounding leaders. He created great relationships with regional leaders, reminding them that the growth of Mexico s economy would also create economic growth for them. In order to ensure stability, Rosas implemented many changes in the government, including giving more power to the governor, which in turn, saved Rosas job for the future, allowing him to become a tyrant like leader.[14] Both of these Caudillos illustrate human s crave for power, and the manipulation, deception, and devilish processes that can be used to maintain this power. We can see both of these men as great leaders, as they thoroughly accomplished what they decided was best. We can also see them as great lessons, teaching us of the dangers of leadership and the risks it often involves. Conclusion The view of past and present Caudillos will consistently change with the person the view is from. However, one thing is clear. Juan Manuel de Rosas and Porfirio Diaz were two Caudillos of political excellence, maintaining a long and influential regime. This was accomplished by both, through their personal triumphs over the previous government of their nation as well as a triumph over threatening authorities around and within the nation, such as Diaz regularly jailing those who spoke out against him or his policies. Rosas and Diaz both knew what they wanted and had valid processes in accomplishing this; though the moral values of their actions are up to discussion. This situation is common throughout history, including skilled leaders such as Hitler, Stalin, and Castro. Juan Manuel de Rosas and Porfirio Diaz display

To properly use the cost method in valuing your property, all direct and indirect costs associated with it must be applied. Some general rules apply to the cost method including that for merchandise on hand at the beginning of the tax year, cost means the inventory price of the goods. Also, for any merchandise purchased during the year, cost means the invoice price less discounts plus freight and other charges occurred in acquiring the goods. For any merchandised produced during the year, cost means all direct and indirect costs that have to be capitalized under the uniform capitalization rules (UNICAP). Under UNICAP, you must capitalize the direct costs and partial indirect costs for production or resale activities subject to these rules. Rather than claiming these costs as a current deduction, you include them in the basis of property your produce or acquire for resale. You recover these costs through depreciation, amortization, or cost of goods sold when you use, sell, or dispose of the property. Under the lower of cost or market method, compare the market value of each item on hand on the inventory date with its cost and use the lower value of its inventory value. This method is applied to goods purchased and on hand and basic elements of cost of goods being manufactured (direct materials, direct labor). This method does not apply to goods accounted for under the LIFO method. To ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Do you enjoy the science behind things like going from planet to planet in seconds? If you chose all of the above, then A Wrinkle in Time is the perfect book for you. In the novel, the protagonist, Meg, has many characteristics and experiences from being very loving to traveling to other planets, that ultimately lead to her saving her brother. To start with, Meg has many exceptional characteristics that, in some cases, lead her to emerge victorious. Some examples are at the beginning of the book when she believes that she is homely, clumsy, awkward, but loving high school student who holds an unhealthy ... Accepting that you don t want to do it yourself, but you are the only one that can do it, will make a person heroic and confident in themselves. Last of all, every single one of these things previously discussed change Meg forever, and probably for the better. Think about it. She goes from being clumsy, awkward, and hating herself from saving millions upon millions planets from a fate of all being puppets pulled by IT s repulsive strings. And one of those millions of planets was probably Earth. So now she has the fact that she saved the seven billion plus lives on her home planet, and the infinite number of lives she saved on other planets from IT s grotesque clutches. • 10. The Black Religious Community, Gospel ( Christian ) Rap To an entire segment of the Black religious community, Gospel (Christian) Rap has found its way to the footsteps of the church. The rapid emergence of this music and its subculture has left the church and clergy alike asking the question why? Especially since much of what I would call secular Rap is off the hook these days. How so, do you ask? There is a surplus of gratuitous violence, and sexually explicit Rap lyrics, that currently ride the airwaves and is uploaded into countless IPODs, MP3s, and Myspace.com websites. And what should we say about the continual overexposure and repetitious degradation of young Black women, half naked in booty shorts; subliminally suggesting to many that to treat all women like bitches and hoe s is ok. It also seems to promote a certain image of street machismo or hembra which suggests that adopting a pimp or criminal type lifestyle with a gold jeweled cup filled to the rim with Remy Marty VSOP or Gin and juice is the ultimate form of fun, and that true happiness is wrapped inside a Maybach Mercedes Benz with 24 inch rims and a house worthy of a write up on MTV Cribs. At 6:30 in the morning all the transports were in place and by 6:40 the war had broken out. Slowly but surely the American soldiers made progress and secured some of the airfields because by the beginning of March, two thirds of the island was captured by American soldiers because they had a strong Marine base and were able to push the Japanese back. After five days the Americans were able to take over Mt. Suribachi which was such a relief for the soldiers because the five prior days was just the beginning of the thirty six day war. Iwo Jima veteran, Hershel Woodrow Williams remembers, The flag going up on Mount Suribachi, on Japanese territory, was something that we as marines really needed. • 12. War I And Sick Of War According to William Tecumseh Sherman, he is tired and sick of war. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. War is hell. This statement is self explanatory; the nature of war is reckless. Yes, when experiencing war, some soldiers may come across gratifying sounds of larks, song birds, which remind them of ebullient moments. Nevertheless, is brutally fighting really worth that? Roughly ten million soldiers lost their lives in World War I, along with seven million civilians; also, many soldiers experienced shell shock, which is a psychological disturbance caused by war. As a result of the heinous and atrocious experiences that many were put through, this inspired many poets to record their remembrances. Although war may bring memories of happiness because of the pleasing sounds, war should be considered a crime regardless of how necessary or justified it seems because war leads to mental anguish due to the memories of physical pain, soldiers being frightened because of unexpected occurrences and ferocious deaths. In the poem Mental Cases by Wilfred Owen, Owen describes in stark detail the ghastly physical symptoms and memories that led to long lasting mental torment. A few months before Owen was killed in action in 1918, he wrote this poem that appears to draw heavily on his own experience of being a mental case at Craiglockhart War Hospital in Edinburgh where ... Focusing on your breathing for several minutes and meditating can help your brain slow down and the rest of your body will be able to rest. The National Sleep Foundation found that 90 percent of Americans regularly use electronics before bed. Smart phones are linked to having trouble falling asleep and interrupting sleep (Helmer). The unnatural light triggers brain activity, when you are supposed to be winding down for the night. The phone light fools with the chemicals in the brain that encourage sleep. Melatonin is the hormone that keeps a constant internal clock in the sleep cycle. Studies have shown that up to two hours of electronic light exposure decreased melatonin levels by nearly 22 ... Too much money on something so pointless. Pointless? Yes pointless. Do you remember why we originally went to war with Iraq? Bush told us they had weapons of mass destruction. Do they? No. Why are we still there? I don t know... do you? After searching Iraq for weapons and coming up empty handed George Bush decided he did not like Sadam Hussein and the world would be much safer with out him so he attacks. He did not even have the support of the European Union. Opposing countries included France, Germany, Russia, Greece, Belgium and Belarus. He is now trying to make Iraq a democracy, like the American government, which is not a bad idea at all. There is just way too much opposition from Iraq, they obviously do not want it, let them have there dictatorship, it is not our problem. This is a useless war now. We do have to give credit to the many countries that helped us by sending in there own troops to Iraq. Mainly England, Italy and Poland who sent a combined total of almost 15,000 troops to the 130,000 America sent. Unfortunately there are casualties. Casualties include over 1000 American deaths and 7722 wounded American s in Iraq. What about the Iraqi people? Are they cooperating? Nope, so far around 15,000 have been killed 30% of the deaths were civilians. This is not right for Bush to do. He should not be in Iraq killing that many people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bioinformatics scientist when dealing with DNA microarray data face a challenge of how analysing cluster data in order to discover important knowledge and features (p1). Different clustering methods have been developed to analysis data for gene expression (p1), but none of those approaches introduce a generic solution to overcome the challenge. Most developed applications for DNA microarray are using dendogram and heat map to visualise the clustering algorithm do not provide further visualisation technique in order to enable user(s) to assessed the clustering methods. The cluster boundary algorithm is divided in units (1) searching for the extreme genes in cluster (2) calculate the middle point of the extreme genes (3) calculate the mid points between each extreme point pairs (4) determine the radius of a ball with interior point in the cluster (p4). 3D cluster surface reconstruction: the main objective of this algorithm is to reconstruct cluster surfaces based on boundary points that has been determined form cluster boundary algorithm. This algorithm helps to view the genes grouped by a cluster in 3D space. This algorithm consists of three main parts (1) building a list of upper convex (2) building a list of lower convex (3) insert non convex point indexes into the convex indexes list (p7). The author will discuss the case as if they are consulting with or supervising Ben Sobel in the film who they believe is behaving unethically or unlawfully. They will state clearly what he is doing unethically or unlawfully with a supportive historical background. They will then provide the possible steps for managing and correcting the situation. The entire film is a therapist s behavior that revolvess around these issues; Confidentiality, Privileged Communication, Privacy, Informed consent, and Receiving gifts, and a Legal perspective upon the issues. In the end, this story clearly uses first person point of view to allow the character to grow from being a stubborn horse to an accepting one. Similarly, the story Georges and the Jewels uses first person point of view to demonstrate how the main character changes from favoring a horse to despising another. In paragraph one of the excerpt, Georges and the Jewels, it states, ...because that horse is just dedicated to bucking you off. So I did lie there... Near the genesis, Abby is lying on the ground because she is genuinely frustrated and feels a sense of defeat that the horse she was riding threw her off. Abby is the main character and she is telling the story in the first person point of view, which allows the text to be interpreted that her annoyance towards the horse is clear. If the story had been written in another point of view, the main character s opening feelings towards her father s horses would not have been shown. In paragraph nine, it states, I rode her every day, and she never put a foot wrong. Abby is having a flashback where she looks back at the time she had a very sweet horse that she truly loved.
